I don't think he has so much experience on them, but he'd try his best to learn if you teach him

If there's a specific brand (wether it is for videogames or set up things) you're obsessed with, he'll do his best to keep you updated on their latest news.

Maybe he'll get competitive but it's the type to just keep smiling even if he loses so it's not a great victory you may think.

Sometimes even give you a videogame as a gift.

I think he'd prefer mostly calm games, not too much happening on the screen at once... but maybe from time to time would ask you about some crazy ones.

Has little to no experience (anything he's got about it was because of his stay on the dorms at U.A.)

Would try to play them and some days you'll get to see him at his best; getting all possible points, almost speedrunning the game without noticing. Some other days you'll see him struggle again with some of the buttons, even the basic ones again... (specially if you introduced him to a new game recently).

When you notice that "luck" of his, you better give up being competitive the days he's like that because no matter how much time you've been playing, he'd beat you one way or another. If he isn't with that much luck, then you can certainly hear some discomfort grunts here and there.

Whenever he get a notification about an upcoming videogame, he'd send some bodyguard or servant of his to buy it and gift it to you.

He's neutral on whatever game you want to play; but you better play the hardest ones when he's at his best to help you progress and take a break with something calm.

Has some experience, yet he's not the best of the best. That's what is most complicated to play with him.

Gets super competitive just ONCE he really knows what he's doing and memorizes all buttons' functions.

He'd let you know if you ever miss a notification from certain platforms he knows for gamers if they've launched new merchandise, an update or so. If it's something physical and any of you know a shop, then consider it a date. (Depending on what's the game about, he'll buy it).

I'm guessing he'd prefer a couple of action games, but mostly slow progress ones as Izuku, because he may take this as a hobby of his where he can relax.

You don't really know what got into you this morning as soon as your eyes laid on the clock signaling two hours before getting to your work place. You really don't know why you got up with a sudden need to cook... But what exactly did you want to cook?

You looked through your mini recipe book you always kept safe on your phone's notes.

Something salty? An omelette? Fruit? A smoothie? Strawberry smoothie?! You were close, your mouth drooling at the thought of every dish you got remember, but still couldn't find the perfect one.

"Hotcakes! Got it!" You whisper-shouted glad to finally know what you've been secretly craving for, careful to do not wake up your partner, who had told you last night has had a rough week. So now that's finally his day off, you could make a little treat for the both of you.

You put on your apron and started taking the ingredients as fast and as silently you could, getting everything done an hour later.

Now the last detail was the missing topping, the strawberry mermalade.

Maybe you got too engrossed making the hotcakes you didn't notice the last ingredient to satisfy your appetite was missing on your refrigerator.

"Crap..." You searched everywhere, forgetting about having to keep the volume as low as possible, waking your spouse on the process.

Just as he arouse from his sleep, the smell of something delicious creeped up on his nosetrills, fading any annoyance he might have had from someone interrumpting his resting time.

As he was about to get up and greet you, he heard the front door close in a hurry, well—more like shut.

He got to the dining room and saw the table was impeccable; two plates, cutlery, glasses filled with milk and on the center, a couple of hotcakes piles all fluffy and smooth looking.

A smile came to form on his face, thinking how marvelous and skilled you might have seemed like when cooking this, for the both of you, which was something that made his heart warm up even more.

He decided to look further around since he knew you couldn't have gone to work just yet, something might have been missing for everything to be perfect, which was something he's come to know and love about you. Wanting to get everything as best as you could was always inspiring for him.

There was a small container, matching with the tableware set up, it was the only thing left on the bar which divided the kitchen from the dining room, empty.

He thought you were missing the maple syrup.

After some thinking on how you could react to him knowing about your surprise and getting bummed about it, he chose to try and sleep a bit more while waiting for you and act as if he knew nothing once you woke him by yourself.

Minutes passed and like the giddy little child he felt like when waiting for a present he knew was coming, he finally heard the door opening and a relieved sigh scaping you.

He had to put on the best act now! He could not fail!

"Hey honey-Wake up, breakfast's ready" he heard now closer to him, a hand shaking slightly his shoulder.

He had to pretend he had not been awake before you arrived from your emergency drive for ingredients, but the way he got up quickly from the bed didn't convince you much. Still, you didn't give it more importance and led him to your suprise.

"Wow! Are these for us?!" He exclaimed maybe a little to excited and made such excessive moves with his hands you couldn't believe him anymore.

"You got up earlier right?" You asked, seemingly not sad but a little disappointed with yourself for not getting everything right on the first try.

"U-Uhm-n-no?" He tried once more, but his nervousness by your piercing gaze now fixated on discovering his lies made him obvious.

"O-Ok ok! maybe... But I swear I had a similar reaction to this one! I-I loved it sweetheart!" Now he got closer to embrace you.

All his and your concern dissolved as fast as the delectable and comforting hotcakes in your mouths, along the strawberry mermalade you explained you had to grab to make it worth it, you spent a lovely morning with your other half.

How exactly do you advance AI ethically? Considering how much of the data sets that these tools use was sourced, wouldnt you have to start from scratch?

a: i don't agree with the assertion that "using someone else's images to train an ai" is inherently unethical - ai art is demonstrably "less copy-paste-y" for lack of a better word than collage, and nobody would argue that collage is illegal or ethically shady. i mean some people might but i don't think they're correct.

b: several people have done this alraedy - see, mitsua diffusion, et al.

c: this whole argument is a red herring. it is not long-term relevant adobe firefly is already built exclusively off images they have legal rights to. the dataset question is irrelevant to ethical ai use, because companies already have huge vaults full of media they can train on and do so effectively.

you can cheer all you want that the artist-job-eating-machine made by adobe or disney is ethically sourced, thank god! but it'll still eat everyone's jobs. that's what you need to be caring about.

the solution here obviously is unionization, fighting for increased labor rights for people who stand to be affected by ai (as the writer's guild demonstrated! they did it exactly right!), and fighting for UBI so that we can eventually decouple the act of creation from the act of survival at a fundamental level (so i can stop getting these sorts of dms).

if you're interested in actually advancing ai as a field and not devils advocating me you can also participate in the FOSS (free-and-open-source) ecosystem so that adobe and disney and openai can't develop a monopoly on black-box proprietary technology, and we can have a future where anyone can create any images they want, on their computer, for free, anywhere, instead of behind a paywall they can't control.

fun fact related to that last bit: remember when getty images sued stable diffusion and everybody cheered? yeah anyway they're releasing their own ai generator now. crazy how literally no large company has your interests in mind.

why is fair use important for understanding the legality and ethics of ai? this is an interview with ben sobel, phd, a law professor- you can check out his website for his more in-depth academic writing, as well as his credentials. i'll share some excerpts here:

"Training an AI typically requires making copies of the data on which it will be trained, and sometimes, copyrighted works are used to train AI without the permission of the rightsholders. This is presumptively copyright infringement unless it’s excused by something like fair use."

"SOBEL: We’re approaching what I call a “fair use dilemma,” because, in the context of commercial, expressive machine learning, no outcome seems desirable. If expressive machine learning weren’t fair use, an author could seek outsize remedies simply because her work ended up in a training dataset among thousands of other works. This would be a huge obstacle to the progress of a valuable technology."

if you still don't understand why ai art is transformative use, you may not understand how image generation works. check out this twitter thread.

even if you don't believe fair use is ethical: check out the mitsua diffusion model! it only uses public domain images in its dataset.

stablediffusion, which i use for my ai art, is open source as well. it uses the open dataset laion-5b. i suggest reading their frequently asked questions webpage. they did not actually crawl the web to create the dataset, that was done by the common crawl (link to their website) (also, their wikipedia page)

stablediffusion, laion-5b, and the common crawl are all research focused, done by data scientists. there is no commercialism involved. the common crawl is a 501c nonprofit! these aren't companies creating these things, they're researchers and scientists.

companies' usage (and misusage) of these is an entirely separate can of worms, and not something i care to discuss here. i'm anti-capitalist. i think the company itself is a scourge upon the earth. don't get me started on the downfalls of the profit motive. we should destroy society somewhat.

i don't think there's much more i can say about this topic, i encourage you to do your own research. i'm just one guy, and i don't have all the answers. these links are very word-heavy because that's the way i learn best, and i'm reluctant to share things i haven't personally engaged with. but there are lots of videos on these topics as well! i have not watched these myself, so i don't know if they'll address fair use and ethical dilemmas, but they're from AWAY's reading list:

We're both sleeping on the couch

It's been a tough day at Izuku's work as the #1 hero of Japan, just as each day was. With a slight difference that almost costs your relationship.

It was as if every bad thought he might have had for the past years just became truth in one day.

So to say he was far beyond exhausted was an understatement. He kindly let you know he'd be coming home later than usual (said usual normally being 12a.m.), so you could sleep without worrying.

How could you not worry about him if his voice over phone sounded so rough, raspy and tired with everything he might be living in those offices right now?

This made you remember every time Midoriya got his way out of reunions or late nights to be with you for at least some hours when you called him and expressed your fatigue.

You would not leave him at his own now. Not ever.

So you quickly glanced at the clock as you said your goodbyes and ended the call. 9:48 p.m.

Yeah you could do something about it.

You arrived at his agency half an hour later, with a bigger than usual bag and a blanket perfectly folded under your free arm which helped you open the gigantic glass doors which welcomed any citizen that might be in trouble along the best heroes of the country.

This entrance always gave you chills as you recalled when Izuku spent days and days deciding how to decorate his agency in a way it felt comfortable with everyone, yet it got some of his unique traits like some walls were green-coloured.

You had to take the elevator once the secretary recognized you as his boss's partner.

Finally, opening the last door was a relief for you, but a surprise for your freckled-fiancé. His face changing from confusion to happiness to confusion again since he told you not to worry about him.

"Wha-Why?" he asked, his finger pointing at the things you were carrying, his other hand still with yesterday's and today's patrol reports he had to review.

"Let me tell you a little story about a boy who used to listen to a certain person whining about their day when they were younger, I really admire that boy 'cause he did everything he could no matter what the time or weather was, he'd go with them and accompany them by himself". You said smiling all the way to the wood table his grand officine had, starting to pull out some plastic cutlery and tuppers with fresh food, then, extending the blanket at the couch infront of it all.

Izuku had left all his work by now to stare at your gentle gestures, the care that you held while putting perfectly everything in place for a little time off for yourselves. Why haven't you dumped him yet? Your mind says. That's something you don't even know yourself. Can you really do it? Your heart deadpans. He's been such a sweetheart when you first started dating.

But then again, he's not the same and you've been having this feeling someday he'll snap. Or you.

It leaves you with a bitter taste on your mouth each date you go on with him. The doubts on your mind coming to the unique conclusion of leaving him to get a better life for you, but your heart seems like it only remembers the sweet embrace he used to give you on a bad day.

The weirdness from yesterday has continued into today

I don’t know if reality is warping and I’m feeling discomfort from that but I’m feeling the strangeness of everything.

I don’t know how to explain it but just like yesterday, today has felt off.

The reality of the outside world just feels like it would’ve been too much to see today so I’m glad we stayed inside.

Tomorrow we rent a car to go run a donation errand and then hit up Mitsua. I’m looking forward to it, and I hope the parking situations will be ok.
