Have you heard abt this? Millions of US military emails intended for the US military's ".mil" domain have, for 10 years, been sent to Mali which ends with the ".ml" suffix. Some of the emails reportedly contained sensitive information such as passwords, medical records and the itineraries of top officers. 😁
Yeah I saw that lmao. Most expensive military in world history for ya

Do you still have that Jellicle name generator saved anywhere? Some friends and I used it for our OCs and it was an absolute blast!
The name I got was Callio the convivial cat, which is short for Calliope, who I played in Xanadu. She has a whole costume and everything now!
Even if you don't have it anymore, tysm for making it ;-;
Xanadu mention! Also I do still have it saved! This one is revised a little and I might make more changes later, but here it is in text form:
Jellicle Name Generator
This will give you a name that is relatively in-line with the naming conventions seen in Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats by T.S. Eliot and later adapted into the musical Cats by Andrew Lloyd Webber - and unlike those shitty "last name and your birth month" name generators, this one won't doxx you in the process.
Before we begin, a bit of terminology we'll be using: - Portmanteau: Turning multiple words into one word linked by a sound or letter. Compelling Television = Compellevision. Punk Squid = Squnk - Smoosh: Combine words by simply removing the space and (optionally) changing the word positions. Country Jester = countryjester - Prefix: Goes before the name, like Mr. or Captain - Suffix: Goes after the name, like Jr. or The Great - Cat-like term: Something associated with cats. Meow, Whisker, Bell, Claw, Scratch, etc.
FIRST: Roll a D20 to determine your base name
An uncommon person’s first name
First syllable of a common last name + a unit of measurement. Portmanteau 'em.
Short, dangerous noun + a non-dangerous profession. Smoosh 'em.
Two Latin words. Portmanteau 'em.
A simple present-tense verb + sophisticated person's first name. Smoosh 'em.
Cat-like term + sophisticated person's first name. Smoosh 'em.
Combine two short nouns, then add "-er" "-ie" or "-est" to the end.
Think of an actor you like. Shorten their first name to its shortest nickname.
A medical term spelled incorrectly.
A food you liked as a kid + a pretentious word. Smoosh 'em.
A figure of legend/myth. Remove one syllable and any spaces.
An older person's first name that isn't common today.
Last name of a historical figure + a silly word. Portmanteau 'em.
A kids' name with 2 or more syllables + that name again without the first syllable + an onomatopoeia. Portmanteau 'em if you can.
A silly word + the first name of a former coworker. Portmanteau 'em.
A kind of public event + a cat-like term. Smoosh 'em.
Something from ancient history. Shorten what you came up with into a single word.
Something you do when you're nervous. Take that verb and add "-er" to the end to make it a noun.
Silly word + hostile-sounding verb. Portmanteau 'em.
Two silly words with 2+ syllables each. Smoosh 'em.
SECOND: Roll another D20 for flavor
Before you roll, consider how your name sounds without any additional flavor. If it's fine on its own, feel free to leave it as-is. Otherwise, roll on!
Suffix - An upsettingly average last name
Suffix - Think of a hobby. Your suffix is "The _____ Cat"
Prefix - A short adjective
Suffix - Think of an adjective. Your suffix is "The _____ Cat"
Prefix - Choose Mr. Mrs. Ms. Mx. or something similar
Suffix - Think of a color. Your suffix is "The _____ Cat"
Prefix - Any one-syllable word. Repeat the word a second time, adding or replacing the first consonant with that of your base name.
Suffix - Think of any non-proper noun. Your suffix is "The _____ Cat"
Suffix - it's the word Cat
Suffix - it's the word Kitty
Suffix - it's the word Kitten
Prefix - Choose "Sir" "Madam" "Captain" or something similar
Prefix - Choose "Lord" "Lady" "Noble" or something similar
Prefix - His/Her/Their Majesty (or any pronoun you prefer)
Prefix - His/Her/Their Grace (or any pronoun you prefer)
Prefix - Mc
Prefix - Van
Prefix - Von
Prefix - De
Suffix - Any cat-like term
And you're done!*
*This is as much a creative exercise as it is a "generator" so feel free to mess with the formula and/or let your result inspire something more original. Add multiple layers of flavor if you want. The rules are not rigid. I recommend generating a few names and picking your favorite!

Sometimes I really wish that it was cripplecore or cripple-other-suffix because SO MANY PEOPLE are getting confused by the "punk" part in cripplepunk
It's not an aesthetic.
Battlejackets and mohawks and spiked collars with the cuffs, it doesn't mean anything. It's just windowdressing.
You're a cripple and you're a punk. And that's cool. But you can wear business suits 24/7, or only white knee length flowy dresses, or dungarees and nothing else, and still be cripplepunk. As much as anyone else in a battlejacket and studs.
The thing that makes you cripplepunk is your crippled body, regardless of what you dress in.
It doesn't matter if you're into strictly runway fashion only, or you're in a pair of jeans you haven't taken off in 6 months, a step is still going to stop you getting into a place if you're in a wheelchair.
Websites still won't accomodate your sight loss, even if you and your service dog have matching dyed hair.
Medical professionals aren't going to believe you about the amount of pain you're in regardless of what you wear (yeah, that 'dressed like a professional at the doctor's office' thing wears off fast if you keep going back there)
Cripplepunk didn't need to be carved out of the disabled community because it looked and sounded cool.
We were being talked over, online and in our real lives, expected to be quiet and pleasant.
We needed a space, so Ty DIY'd one for themselves, and for all of us.
Worried about not looking punk enough for cripplepunk?
Can't make that intricate battlejacket because you haven't got the energy or dexterity or steady hands or means?
Can't afford a pack of studs and a tool off eBay to stud your own clothes?
Can't make your own but can't afford store-bought?
Doesn't matter.
Live unashamed of your disability, live in plain sight with your disability, be angry and loud and rude and disabled because we don't need to be palatable to the physically abled.
Cripplepunk is not about being seen as punk, it's about being seen as a cripple.

Heck I had to put together some Mando'a. Again. Annoying.
Can i get some opinions from people who regularly do Mando'a things in their fics?
Adaki’ur = Ad (child) + akior (to bring, to call forward) + ‘ur (suffix from baar’ur, the word for medic) = midwife
Non-canon, spliced together from canon words. Using Ar. as the short address, like Br. for Baar’ur or Dr. for Doctor.
Another option suggested by a friend is Akiad'ur, but I feel like that doesn't work for me? Like it should go more Akio'ad'ur, but I'm not a fan of doing multiple apostrophes in Mando'a words.
I don't love doing homebrew Mando'a in fics but it was sort of necessary and I don't want to publish without working it out since I have a feeling I'll be using it again in the future.

Words You Can't Use (According to Language Police)
System: System is a medical term that only applies to DID systems and can only be used by them. Ignore Internal Family Systems therapy, or top DID specialists referring to some voices in psychotic disorders as parts of a system. Only dissociative disorders!
Multiple: This came from the multiplicity community, and the only way to be multiple is to have a dissociative disorder. (No! Don't look at the boundary with normality in the ICD-11)
Plural: This means the same thing as multiple. Still can't use it.
Alter: A medical term that only applies to DID systems.
Headmate: Means the same thing as alter, and you can't have a headmate unless you have DID. But also, DID systems can't use this because it's not a medical term. (I've seriously seen someone attacking the Plural Association for using the word headmate instead of alter. Oh, wait. That was the same system claiming endogenic is offensive. That tracks!)
Introject: This is a medical term with a specific meaning that can only apply to DID systems. It's not like introjection is a common psychological process, and any headmate created through introjection would logically be considered an introject.
Fictive and factive: Non-traumagenic systems can't use this because it means the same thing as introject and non-traumagenic systems can't have introjects. But also, traumagenic systems can't use it because it was coined by endogenic systems.
Tulpa: You can't use this because its etymology is derived from another language, and anything with a foreign origin is apparently appropriation.
Thoughtform: This is also related to the tulpa, and you can't use it either. Try something more invalidating like "imaginary friend."
Imagian plural: Psych! Actually, we decided that if you identify your headmate as imaginary friend but call yourself plural, you're comparing alters to imaginary friends which is super ableist.
Spiritual plural: We also decided that literally every culture that ever experienced nonpathological possession states is closed, and identifying any of your headmates as being spiritual is racist. We don't know who it's racist against, but it's against someone. Trust us.
Sysmed: This uses the same suffix as transmeds, and It's actually transphobic for transgender systems to compare how a hate group has harmed them through an ideology that pathologizes all transness to how another has harmed them through an ideology that pathologizes all multiplicity. It's the same way it would be homophobic for other groups to use the "phobic" suffix. Oh... wait...
Natural: By calling something natural, you're inherently calling everyone else's experiences unnatural, which sounds bad. Why do you think disabled people are unnatural? Don't think about the fact that nature in psychology generally refers to genetics and the more common opposite in this context would be more akin to "environmental."
Endogenic: Well.... umm... you see... it sounds kind of like iatrogenic... or maybe endogenous... and endogenous is a common word used to refer to something internal... and there was some debate about whether DID was endogenous or exogenous... so that's why other groups can't use the word, and using the word makes you ableist? And... umm... Freud?
It's funny how anti-endos keep insisting that literally every word is harmful, and demand we take their assertions super seriously when they claim that all they want is for us to change the language we use.
If you still think this language discourse is legitimate and in good faith, you haven't been paying attention.
If anti-endos feel we're not taking their criticisms seriously... it's because we're not.
It's because when every term is treated as contentious, it becomes obvious that you don't care about language as much you care about using attacks on language to silence speech.
I have said for a while that the attacks on terms like "tulpa" and others aren't in good faith. That we would be attacked no matter what terms we use because anti-endos hate us for what we are, and only target our language as an excuse to spread hate against us.
I have said for a while that nothing would satisfy them.
I sincerely hope that most people watching these latest attacks play out can see the truth in this now.
The endogenic and plural community is done apologizing for our existence, and we're done apologizing for the language we use.

sort of clanmew question: after a cat's warrior (or medic or etc) ceremony, is there a fun little period where cats will try out different nicknames for them? or do they choose themselves, or some other way?
They do choose for themselves! The full name is holy; the nickname is kind of like... the sheath of a sword.
The blade is what's valuable. You can change your scabbard as much as you want. You can decorate it, replace it, change its straps, and it will not affect the sword within.
So, there's no one correct way to choose your nickname. You can let your buddies come up with one on their own, or pick a way you'd like it to be said. Some names could contract into another word, which can be a source of amusement. If you stop liking it, you can change it.
The only rule is that there has to be one sound from the prefix, and one from the suffix. If that's not done, it is dancing around acknowledging the full rank.
Nicknames are also NEVER used at holy ceremonies. The full name is an incantation, StarClan is supposed to gaze down when it's invoked in full.
(A cat from another Clan could shout your name out in a battle, so they can ask StarClan to watch them kick your ass)

A thought occurs, Vector Prime
The word "master" comes up a lot across Transformers history, both as titles (e.g. of the Head-, Micro-, and Power- variety), and occasionally in names, perhaps most notably in the ignominious Motormaster. Is there a Cybertronian-to-English equivalency that describes this phenomenon, akin to ancient Cybertronian roughly translating to Earth Latin?
Dear Masterful Muse,
In the distant past, the medical code language of Diagnostic Drones and Medicroids was eventually patched into Old High Cybex, giving us medical terms for our bio-mechanical organs. Each organ or limb typically had a central control unit or "master" control system. At this point, it was strictly a medical term. You could refer to a damaged "legmaster" if you had trouble walking, or having a good "wheelmaster" if you were adapted for offroad driving. In fact, the "Master Sword" still serves to engage and control Fortress Maximus' transformation cog.
Over time, it became slang for confident (or arrogant) bots in some domain. For example, a "mouthmaster" is a clever or wily speaker. It became commonplace to even name yourself with this old suffix, as Turbo Master or Blaze Master can also attest, and whole organizations or subgroups later followed.

What’s your stance on Satine Kryze and the New Mandalorians? (tldr: they’re fictional and I don’t have one beyond their narrative being interesting & wishing that fandom would have civil conversations about them.)

Also please tell me if you need me to tag something I haven’t so you can filter it (this blog is for readers—if I was writing just for myself, I wouldn’t bother to edit and publish—so let me know what I can do to make it work better for you). [W]hen I claim “genderlessness,” I indicate a politic not of variance within an existing gender spectrum but a defect/ion from it. My goal, then, is not merely to publicly identify myself as different-from-cis, but to generate a political and intellectual project aiming to undo the hierarchical, taxonomizing, and, indeed, medical violence of gender itself: to carve alternative modes of being in the world. Alongside other radical a-spec terminologies, loveless and genderless are designed for worlds beyond allocishet perception.
To be -less, to me, is to be stark: it is to euphemize an absence that, for me, the comparatively-friendly “nonbinary” or even “agender” signify, though both also carry immense meaning and utility in trans lives and communities The ideology of “-less” need not even be expressed by the suffix itself; it is expressed, rather, in a social architecture of refusal in which other intimacies and relationalities might form. Here, absence is not a problem to be fixed nor a misperception of presence. Absence, shared absence, is willful and deliberate. Absence makes vital (sp)ace for new things to grow. Absence is stark, leaving abrasions on the unsuspecting onlooker; this is what I indicate in my choice of -less. The ideology of -less does not merely expand the limits of acceptable discourse on love, sex, and gender, it jars the ideological containers in which we store them. It reaches the end of the hall of possibility and it opens a window.
[sarah] Cavar, in praise of -less: transMad shouts from absent (pl)aces.

I haven't legally changed my name, but I have been pushing my chosen name in my university - writing it down on quizes and tests, using a personal email instead of the assigned uni email that has my dead name, introducing myself with my actual name, just to name a few.
Also my native language requires a suffix at the end of the surname to indicate feminine gender so by removing the feminine suffix, leaving it bare and making it masc./neutur, it becomes pretty clear something is up, everyone in the country will either think you were born outside the country or you are trans if there's other factors (first name change, appearance) if you lack/add the suffix later in life.
Some professors have taken it well, very well actually. Some had a harder time because the name I go by can be seen as a nickname and not a full name - and I'm too scared to go by the full masc version of my name without legally changing it first - but they either got used to it or a simple change in pronunciation of the name made them more comfortable.
And then there's the ones that either cannot comprehend what's happening or are malicious about it. The first type is a professor to whom I literally wrote "prefered name: Name" in an attendance/topic sheet she gave us for one of the projects we needed to do. Ignored. I sent an email from my non-uni assigned email. She saw and replied to it. Ignored. But not only ignored, she used my government name. Which was extremely weird. She keeps forgetting my name, so I reintroduce myself and then she keeps ignoring me and uses my government name. But I still think she isn't too malicious about it.
Unlike the latter type - the straight up transphobic ones. I've had just two professors like that so far. The first one was easy to ignore, especially because we had the majority of our classes online with her. Again, she'd ask my name, I'd reply and she'd get grumpy about it. I know it was malicious because of comments shes made about trans people and neutral language.
And then we have the second one who also can't seem to remember my name, asks, I say my name and she makes a point to say the other name. I tried the different pronunciation trick and at first she accepted that... Until she figured out who I was and again made a point to say my legal name loud and clear for everyone to hear. In addition to that, she's been giving a little too many examples to definitions and the material we are studying that have been low-key transphobic.
Tbh if there were more people attending her seminars I'd straight up ignore her until she gets my name right, but because of how few we are, I don't want to start shit. Especially because we'll only have her for this one semester.
So yeah, academics can be a lot while being trans and not having access to medical transitioning. Still, I'm extremely glad my department is lefty and open minded and the majority of the people are chill. Yes, the negative experiences can sour the mood but I like to remind myself of all the good and understanding people around.
i’m really sorry to hear that some teachers have not been accepting, but the good part is that those teachers seem to be the minority of your college experience.
remember, there are always more good people than bad people.
