There's not a lot of things that need measuring to this extent, but in 2022 the International Bureau of Weights & Measures officially adopted four new prefixes: ronna- and quetta- on the large scale, ronto- and quecto- on the small. For context of how intense these measurements are, the entire observable universe is a few yottameters short of a ronnameter, while a single hydrogen atom is about half a nanometer, or five hundred quintillion quectometers.

My guilty pleasure is reading reviews complaining about Gideon The Ninth
One of my favorite complaints is the mixing up of characters, to many characters, and to many names/titles for characters. Which is fair enough relatable, but I just find it funny how once you know the last names for characters, I would say it's pretty obvious which house a character belongs to. The last names are not subtle (and I absolutely love deconstructing words with prefixes and suffixes, so maybe I'm the weirdo). I'll just have them here, but I'm pretty sure this is obvious (maybe not at first, though)
Nona- nine (Nonagesimus)
Octo- eight (Octakiseron)
Sept- seven (Septimus)
Sext- six (Sextus)
Pent-five
Tetra- four (tettares, close enough)
Tri- three (Tridentarius, also a sea snail)
Duetero- second (Dueteros)
Also, the complaints about characters' names being all over the place and random is genuinely funny to me because as far as fantasy novels go, the names in the series are quite tame (personally to me). If anything, they're from/ made up with Greek and Latin words for the last names, and the back of the novel has a neat pronunciation guide so I don't know what to say if the hypothetical bad review reader is struggling with that (except I understand and have been there for certain books in confusing up characters. Like Blister and Burn in WoF for which is which).
But also the bad reviews for people missing the lesbian context and getting upset about lack of world building I feel bad for because they're missing out on some amazing cow facts later on

If a cat has recently died and a queen wants to have one of her kits named after the cat, for example:
A cat named Morningflame dies recently and one of the queens decides to name her kit Morningkit, is this allowed? If not and they ask her to change her name and she says no??
She can do it, and it isn't illegal, nor can anyone force her to change the name, but it's considered a MASSIVE faux pas in the Clans. Naming your kit after someone else, especially someone that just died, robs your kit of the chance to have their own special name that belongs to just them. A prefix is the main thing a cat has to separate themselves from their Clanmates, and the cats of the other Clans. To take that away from them because you couldn't let a dead cat go is almost cruel. Let them be their own cat!
You can certainly name thematically similarly, like Dawn- or Light-. That's fine with everyone. But the specific name of Morning- is too recent in the Clan's memory to feel okay.

Warrior Cats Prefixes - B - Part 6 [Borage - Branch]
the names listed here are my own personal headcanon names that I use when in reference to the canon Clans. Others are free to use them and you're free to disagree with the ones I use, but in the end they're the ones I personally like to use.
this list is liable to change as time goes on and my ideas change.
there will be around 5-8 prefixes per list. Some may have more, some may have less, but the general range is about 5-8.
/ / / / /
Borage
Borage- as a name comes from the borage herb, which is an herb used in the Clans to help queens produce milk, bring down fevers, and sooth belly aches and tightness of chest.
Borage, as it is an herb, is known to all five Clans. It is considered an uncommon name, though it is common in its favored Clan - WindClan.
Type: nature // subclass: plant [this name denotes that it is based off of a plant or something that is considered plant-like]
Requirements*: with the borage being a plant, it has many parts. Many parents choose to name kits after the sky blue flower, meaning they lean towards gray kits.
Others choose brown or gray, to fit better with the stem and leaves.
Canon Examples: None
Random Examples [non canon]: Borageclaw // Borageslip // Boragewater // Boragewish
/ / / / /
Boulder
Boulder- as a name refers to massive rock fragment, which aren't often found in the Clan territories - but are familiar with locations like mothermouth and the mountains.
These massive stones are known to all five Clans and is considered an uncommon name.
Type: nature // subclass: earth [this name denotes something related to the earth/ground]
Requirements*: Most cats agree that Boulder- cats need to be big. When it comes to fur color, however, some believe gray cats are fitting for Boulder-.
However, there are those who wish to use brown. Even a rare few give the name to ginger cats!
Canon Examples: Boulder [warrior of ShadowClan] // Boulderfur [warrior of WindClan]
Random Examples [non canon]: Boulderfern // Boulderhawk // Boulderstripe // Bouldertooth
/ / / / /
Bounce
Bounce- as a name comes from the movement, where one gives hop in place. Bounce-, when it comes to kits, is often given to kits who are notably squirmy or restless.
If a parent waits long enough, they may give the prefix to their most active kit.
With this being a movement name, it is known in all five Clans and used uncommonly without preference.
Type: movement [this name denotes movement/activity and is often given to kits who aren't named the day they're born]
Requirements*: Bounce- is given to excitable, squirmy, and/or active kits.
Canon Examples: Bouncefire [warrior of SkyClan]
Random Examples [non canon]: Bouncefeather // Bounceleaf // Bouncerun // Bouncestep
/ / / / /
Bracken
Bracken- as a name comes from the bracken plant, which is a tall fern with course lobed fronds. These plants cover large areas and in the UK they thrive best in woodlands. That being said, this is quite the common plant, in fact being one of the most common plants.
It is also a common name used in all five Clans, with ThunderClan, ShadowClan, and SkyClan using this name the most
Type: nature // subclass: plant [this name denotes that it is based off of a plant or something that is considered plant-like]
Requirements*: with plant names, gray and brown tend to be the most common colors - golden-brown especially due to the golden-green leaves. Some say that cats with course fur or cats with scruffy pelts embody the perfect Bracken- cats.
Canon Examples: Brackenfoot [warrior of ShadowClan] // Brackenfur [warrior of ThunderClan] // Brackenheart [warrior of SkyClan] // Brackenpelt [warrior of RiverClan] // Brackenwing [warrior of WindClan]
Random Examples [non canon]: Brackenbloom // Brackenlight // Brackenpatch // Brackenseed
/ / / / /
Bramble
Bramble- as a name comes from the bramble plant - which is a wild vine or shrub that is part of the rose family. It most famously includes blackberries and raspberries.
Brambles grow abundantly all throughout the British Isles and as such is a plant that all five Clans know well.
It is a common name that isn't favored by any Clan.
Type: nature // subclass: plant [this name denotes that it is based off of a plant or something that is considered plant-like]
Requirements*: Bramble- cats are commonly brown, black, or ginger - brown matching the bark and both black and ginger matching blackberries and raspberries. Very rarely is white used to resymbol the small white flowers.
Canon Examples: Brambleberry [medic of RiverClan] // Bramblestar/Brambleclaw [leader of ThunderClan]
Random Examples [non canon]: Bramblebelly // Brambleglow // Bramblestone // Brambletoe
/ / / / /
Brambling
Brambling- as a name comes from the brambling bird, a member of the finch family. They are widespread birds who are often found in large flocks. The males are notable in their black heads and orange chests while females look similar to other chaffinches.
They are common prey for Clan cats and are known in all four Clans.
That being said, all Clans except RiverClan favor this uncommon name - in fact it's almost considered rare in RiverClan.
Type: bird [this name denotes a type of bird]
Requirements*: Brambling- cats tend to be brown, though tortoiseshells with the name aren't unheard of. Funny enough, these cats tend to be the reverse of the coloring of actual bramblings - with tortoiseshell mollies being named after male birds and brown toms being named after the females.
Canon Examples: None
Random Examples [non canon]: Bramblingcoat // Bramblingleap // Bramblingscreech // Bramblingwing
/ / / / /
Branch
Branch- as a name comes from the 'arms' of the trees in which leaves grow, birds make their nests and rest, and cats climb. Not just trees have branches, though the word often invokes the thought of trees in most.
Branches are, of course, known in all five Clans. However, the name itself is surprisingly considered uncommon - though it is just over the fine line between common and uncommon names and it tends to fluctuate because of this.
Type: nature // subclass: plant [this name denotes that it is based off of a plant or something that is considered plant-like]
Requirements*: Branches, like trees, come in all sorts of colors. Still, brown is considered fairly common for Branch- cats. Even then, some say that Branch- works better for cats who will grow to be tall or cats with long tails. This is considered 'up for debate'.
Canon Examples: there are two rogues named Branch, but they are not listed as Clan cats
Random Examples [non canon]: Branchcloud // Branchleap // Branchswipe // Branchtail
*requirements are not actually required, but simply the most common attributes associated with the name. Often honor naming ignores these requirements, but these are still more like loose suggestions than any hard-set rules

Prefix: Swan-
A white cat.
Description: swans are large white waterfowl in the genus Cygnus. The three species of swan present in Michigan are the mute swan, the trumpeter swan, and tundra swan, and while they look similar at first glance, they can be easily distinguished from each other by their bills. Mute swans, which have bright orange bills with a black knob on the base, are year-round residents that were introduced to Michigan in the early twentieth century. Trumpeter swans have all-black bills, and they are typically seen during the summer. Finally, tundra swans, which have black bills with yellow lores, are occasionally spotted during migration. Swans are monogamous, and pairs build large nests together out of aquatic plant material on beaver dams, muskrat dens, islands, and the shores of lakes and rivers. They can be extremely aggressive towards anything they perceive as a threat, and they'll chase much larger animals than themselves away from their young and their territory.

I really like Ms., and I've been using it ever since middle school. I'm married and I still use it because it's nobody's business what my marital status is. But I think we should have more, because men only get one and it's unfair, and there's really only Mx. for the enbies.
Mas: Unmarried men, from "Master," i.e. what Alfred calls Bruce. This marks you as a vigilante in your spare time. If you're not wifed up, you should be going out as a furry to fight crime.
Mrr: For catboys.
Mrrs: A catgirl polycule or clowder.
Mre: You are a snack.
Mrx: You are either a married enby or a pharmacist.
Msx: A woman of mystery, a femme fatale, a walker into detective offices.
Mt: You are over seven feet tall.
Me: You are in second person. The addresser has become the addressed. A Dread Pirate Roberts of a prefix.
Mo: You identify as a joke. Used in conjunction with Lar. and Cur. prefixes.
Mi: You are a musical note and must be sung.
My: You're the submissive in a 24/7 D/s relationship and have decided to make it everyone's business.
Ma: It doesn't matter whether you're married or not, you have a whole passel of kids. Your screen name is "MomOfJoshAndCody".
Mu: Cow!

Ok but which of you are going to tell me wtf does the "Mc" in your surnames mean
Like, I got the "son" one. Like Johnson. Son of John. Jackson. Son of Jack. Even Odinson. Son of Odin. I assume that kind of surname is origined from waaaaay back in time when people would refer to others by like, their father or main man in the family or something
But Mc? McDonald, McBride, McGraw, McGonnagal? Bro what does that mean

If a cat moves clans and a cat in their new clan shares their prefix, does the newcomer keep or change their name?
It varies. Usually, both cats will keep their name, but the newcomer changing it isn't rare. Like with suffixes, a new prefix can be considered a good way to firmly root yourself into the new Clan. It's understandable if you're attached to your prefix, though. Whichever Clan you come from, it was the very first thing that belonged to you alone, so it can feel pretty special and can be hard to let go of. That's one of the few things a Clan welcoming in an outsider is willing to accommodate as a facet of your old life.
