Anime Japan Day Two: Heavy Hitters Make Their Appearance

With day two of Anime Japan complete, it's pretty safe to say that we saw some impressive trailers for some of the big names of the anime world. Alongside them though, quite a few younger and less-popular studios showed up big time with incredibly surprising PVs.

An interesting mix across the board, there's plenty of anime trailers and announcements from the last 24 hours, and I talk about all the good ones in detail at Animehouse.

shuake but they’re at a american themed diner and akira spots a jukebox and (with a shit-eating grin) plays mayonaka no door and starts horribly dancing and singing along and and goro flushes and wants so badly to punch him but it’s 3 in the morning and they’re both tired and delirious so he gives in and lets akira pull him up from the booth and dance wholeheartedly and sing unashamedly at the dingy red, white, and blue diner with only two other patrons in sight while it’s pitch black outside and just for a moment, just for a moment it feels like the world is theirs, for their own little minute sharing of fun.

Setsuna: Wasted Potential

In the beginning, Setsuna was mostly this black haired hanyo girl version of Sesshomaru but she barely has a character outside of wanting to slay demons and playing the violin.

Parentage

Setsuna never really cared to know about her parents as she told the tree of ages that she doesn't care anything about sesshomaru but suddenly decides to battle kirinmaru for him and she never asked about rin but as soon as she sees her as the tree of ages explains her story she suddenly wants to rescue and have a relationship with her.

2. Rushed Childhood and Recycled Material

In episode 20, setsuna's past after the fire was quickly rushed as people such as raita and futa don't have much of a personality and shiori didn't like she was in the original.

Nothing was original about setsuna's transformation as its just a copy Inuyasha's as both of them were trapped in web by a moth demon who were eventually them in a mindless state and have a weapon that seals it away.

3. No explanations

setsuna's not even interested in finding the Dream Butterfly and majority of the time wants to slay demons with kohaku and the other demon slayers, so why was she following/staying with towa and moroha during the search when she could do anything else.

I really don't understand why setsuna became a demon slayer as she could've done anything else but I think they did that to have a female demon slayer without thinking about kin'u and gyokuto.

4. Rushed Abilities

Shortly after setsuna's revived, she suddenly gets the Yukari no Tachikiri and her quickly mastering it after only using it on the sea snake woman, rion, mayonaka, zero, meidomaru, and kirinmaru for less than the second season.

She also used the Suzaku no Machibuse once for plot device against kirinmaru.

5. Copying

Despite towa inheriting majority of sesshomaru's abilities, setsuna gets copied and pasted memories of his past and progress.

Ex. sesshomaru reviving rin and thinking of the smile she gave him. setsuna saved mei and thinking of how she smiled while thanking her.

sesshomaru mastering the tenseiga in less than one season, setsuna mastering the Yukari no Tachikiri in less than a one season.

like inuyasha, setsuna needing a weapon to seal her demonic side away but not towa.

6. Contrived Powerups

Majority of the time, she wins by using the same two abilities, scourge of swallows and cyclone burst, and screaming and even after battling kyuki and kirinmaru, battles she wasn't able to win, she still does that.

How was it that setsuna inherited the Yukari no Tachikiri instantly and it was all up to her and not sesshomaru to do it.

7. Hanyo

Despite knowing she is a hanyo, setsuna in episode 20 wasn't ashamed of being one but in episodes 2 and 3 she doesn't want others to know and is resentful in being one.

I changed the first name of Kuroko Kamenaga who is the black haired girl of the student council I changed her first name to- Keina which means prosperity. So now her name Keina Kamenaga means- prosperity, want success in its fullest

Prosperity means- Of Being successful or thriving

Aha- you know that red haired council girl from Yandere sim- apparently her last name means- Tori-Chicken like bird and Yasu- cheap/calm. I-

Hector — Shinjuku wa Moeteiru ka (cw flashing). Early in the morning the alarm beats me to death. Shortlived band (2018–2019) with Ao from cali≠gari and Shuraku from Metronome. A gender conmected to the Midnight Channel from Persona 4. Can feel like the channel itself, being in the channel, the rumors surrounding it, etc.

Etymology: The Midnight Channel is called Mayonaka TV in the Japanese version, so the gender name combines the two versions.

Im reading the mspfa where mayonaka comes from alongside the q&a the guy behind the character made (bc i am bored) and things of note:

Mayonaka is called "Agent Brinner" in the fanventure, probably since the name 'mayonaka' is the username of the guy who donated for the midnight crew

He's a chemist! An alchemist specifically. And the purple/blue color palette you see him with? It's just dynamic lighting! You can tell on the sides of his buttons his outlines were just supposed to be black

According to mayonaka (the creator, not the character), "composed of a sort of inky, black, ooze-like material; the product of experiments he'd conducted on other Dersites and himself." (direct quote from the reddit qanda)

The fancomic that was created (where we learn about mayonaka) is semi lost homestuck media! Theres a mspfa link, but most of the images are lost to time (i assume bc the hosting site got nuked/the creator decided to delete the mspa forum thread that hosted the comic). Here is a link to that msfa fan comic!

The "professor" part of professor mayonakas name is a sherlock holmes reference to Professor Moriarty. And also professor was added to make him sound cooler and more posh

The name "midnight crew" comes from mayonaka (the creator)'s dnd game, and the name is from a minor deity in the shadow realm
