Rin: Bad Inuyasha Character
Another bad damsel in distress in the Inuyasha series. I never really liked Rin since I've always thought of her as a weak girl who was clingy and obsessed with Sesshomaru. Rin is like a younger version of Kagome except she's not an archer.
Her Character
In the original, rin was an annoying and obnoxious little girl who had a dark past and a major obsession with sesshomaru but in yashahime it was much worst.
For the majority of yashahime, rin was frozen in the tree of ages. In the first season of episode 1, it was a flashback of a manga chapter in the final act. But in episode 15, she lacked character as she let sesshomaru, who just ignored her, take her newly born twins away with no explanation other than it was a rite of courage and cowardice and was completely obedient and okay with it. Suddenly in season 2, she was reverted back to her original annoying character and so on but worse.
In episode 27, I know why rin wants to protect towa and setsuna because she's there mother but she makes this over dramatic and whiny speech as she wants sesshomaru, who is her husband, to kill her to protect them.
When she confronts kirinmaru, she pathetically tries to fight him, someone with no kind of power at all and no combat training is going to take on a very powerful beast king yokai who can instantly kill her as she is all talk and no action.
When rin finally meets towa and setsuna together closely, instead of hugging them immediately she decides to wait not like moe, ms higurashi, and kagome who did despite the circumstances.
Even after zero tried multiple times to kill towa and setsuna and terrorized them, rin still wants to save zero who ended up committing suicide by riku anyway.
2. Appearance and Age
Despite what the creators of yashahime tried to explain through jaken and tree of ages that rin is 18 and later 32, she is actually 15 and later 29.
The true creator, Rumiko Takahashi, explained databooks and interviews that rin was 7-8 years old but disgsting sessrin shippers want to ignore it and agree with yashahime creators.
The timeline of rin's age in order. In inuyasha, rin was 7-8, in the 3 year time skip of the final episode of the final act she is 11, in since then is 11 and 1/2 but yashahime said that 18 years have passed so 11 plus 18 is 29.
Despite yashahime falsely claiming she is 32, majority of the time makes rin look like she was still 11 and sometimes the exact age as towa and setsuna.
3. Marriage
rin's marriage to sesshomaru is creepy and disgusting as he knew her since she was 7-8 years old. Rumiko Takahashi said in interviews and databooks that sesshomaru and rin have a father-daughter relationship. rin should've been with kohaku because they are close in age and have great interactions with each other. The sick reason for the yashahime creators pairing sesshomaru and rin together was because they wanted sesshomaru to have hanyos and rin is the only female that wasn't taken, has some kind of relationship with him, and is alive. They could've made Kaname Kururugi and Janis canon in yashahime and created a story where one of them returned to the feudal era and been with him or created a human female character for him but instead they choose someone that was like a daughter to him.
In yashahime, sesshomaru and rin's relationship is basically the same in the original except rin's is less rebellious and more obedient. rin still calls him 'lord sesshomaru' and doesn't see herself as his equal or even his wife as seen with her conversations with towa and setsuna, she refers to them as 'sesshomaru's daughters' and not both of theirs. sesshomaru doesn't see rin as his wife as he continues to give commands to her like she's a dog.
Ex. ordering her to stay in the tree of ages, him waking and orders her to follow him, orders her to stay and watch closely of him and kirinmaru fight, and in the last episode he orders her to follow him.
sesshomaru doesn't even take care of the towa and setsuna, especially when they were babies as he doesn't even change their diapers and rin just made excuses for him saying 'changing diapers doesn't suit lord sesshomaru' and dumbed her down.
4. Sudden Change
In the yashahime series, rin worried about towa and setsuna and was even willing to sacrifice her life for them in the last episode with a conversations with them she completely changed.
rin was worried about kohaku and kagura but she had said to towa and setsuna 'since they're hanyos she's sure they'll more hardships and they'll be attacked by strange demons just for being the daughters of lord sesshomaru' while being cheerful and laughing.
While kagome, who is majority of the time an awful character, wife, and mother, who worried about moroha and wanted her out of debt immediately.

This was sitting in my folder for a while but I decided to finally finish these up and upload them.

These are basically an alternative design I was playing around with Moroha. The idea behind her having a mokomoko is that she saw Sesshomaru's and eventually he gave her one of her own in order to fend off her trying to steal his.
What can she say, its comfortable to sleep on.
She has gold eyes in this au because honestly I prefer them over the brown eyes. Also I edited the markings because I hated how it basically just looked like eyeliner and lipstick, so I had her resemble her grandfather more because in my au she's the reincarnation of Toga. Also instead of her grandmothers rouge, which should have been destroyed, she instead uses her own blood as lipstick to trigger her power because having a strong source of scent helps unlock her strength. She could just smear it underneath her nose, but having a blood mustache doesn't look as respectable.
I have some thoughts on her weapons, but I'll share them next time. Though if you guys flood my inbox with questions, I may not be able to help myself from sharing.

So a little backstory behind this simple little comic. The fellow Sesskik peep originally posted it on Twitter around the time a certain fic was airing, when they first heard the announcement for the previous mentioned, they "hoped the mother was the one from their favorite ship and that it costed nothing to dream" and not long after their account was gone. HMMM. I wonder why? You can already guess. The harmless little comic not only "fixes" part of the plot Inuyasha in my opinion but it's better than—well you guessed it aka the fic

Some little headcanons I have for the kiddos. Simply for fun and because while I despise the direction the anime took, these four had potential that was wasted.
Some brief notes: Towa and Setsuna are SessKagu twins, Rin grew up and became a healer. She later married Kohaku and they moved to the Demon Slayer village and had children.
Towa and Setsuna are Sesskagu’s only children as their birth was dangerous. But they have a big family w/ InuKag and MirSan.
Kirinmaru happened when the twins and Moroha were four and ended two years later. They have since lived in peace and just had some adventures. Zero, Rion and Riku never existed while Kirinmaru’s reason for wanting to fight was for territorial reasons.
Tuna twins first (I remember seeing this fun little nickname in the earlier episodes of YH, but can’t remember who coined it):
Towa 💖
She is kind, but is also crass. Unlike Setsuna who is reserved and tries to maintain some modesty, Towa is “Attack first, ask questions later” She also has a foul mouth because of Kagura and Inuyasha.
That usually results in Jaken yelling at her and getting smacked by Kagura.
She uses masculine pronouns and is usually assumed at first glance to be male since she prefers men’s clothing.
Gay 💖🏳️🌈 but still grasping who is aside from that. Being the daughter of a demon lord and also granddaughter to a former big bad really makes her question herself.
Rin is her mentor growing up and her confidant when she needs her.
As a teenager, she worked with swords. Her father, uncle and paternal grandfather did so it should work for her right?
She later settled on fans like her mother and knives.
She keeps her hair short until her twenties, growing it to her mid back. It eventually becomes wavy like Kagura’s.
The red of her eyes darkens over the years. Her eyes go from reddish-brown to magenta during her teen years before settling on the crimson hue her mother and grandfather Naraku are known for.
She strongly resembles her father when enraged: snarl and all. She even gets his glare down to the T by 17. Jaken cried himself to sleep the day he was on the end of a triple stare down from the twins and Sesshomaru.
Kagura affectionally calls her ‘spider lily’ because of her eyes.
She remains single until her 30s, through she does have lovers on and off.
The best way to sum of her and her wife’s entire relationship is essential HaruMichi from Sailor Moon except Towa winds up flustered more times than she can count during their courtship.
Setsuna 💜
Setsuna is the more polite twin. Inuyasha has stated she follows in Sesshomaru’s footsteps of being reserved.
She also follows his speech pattern of announcing herself as “This Setsuna” in an almost arrogant tone.
She was trained by Sango to fight, as was Towa.
She is asexual and aromatic. She doesn’t view love as she something she needs but acknowledges that it’s others seem to want and have. She however, enjoys being alone.
While Towa grows her hair out as an adult, Setsuna cuts her shorter and wears it in a fashion similar to her mother’s.
She and Moroha have a friendly rivalry and while she claims to hate it, she secretly enjoys when her cousin calls her ‘Setsu’.
Rin calls her Secchan.
Hisui is her brother in everything but blood. She also warns him that if he ever hurts Moroha, she won’t hesitate to hurt him.
KinGyo had a bet going on if Hisui would marry either Setsuna or Moroha. Kin’u wound up winning the bet.
She and Moroha enjoy teasing Towa when she becomes smitten with her future wife.
Sesshomaru affectionally calls her a wind spirit.
Now onto my favorite girl:
Moroha ❤️
Inuyasha dots on her. She is his first born and eldest daughter, and they always have little moments between them.
Inuyasha nuzzles her head.
Kagome taught her about herbal remedies, and she sought out Jenji when she was fourteen to learn more.
She is close with her cousins, and has a friendly rivalry with Setsuna.
Inuyasha gifted her a robe of the fire rat when she was eleven. Kagome gave her a bow and quiver a year later for her twelfth birthday.
She grew up with the MirSan brunch. KinGyo are her older sister figures while Hisui is her best friend and confidant.
She often calls him clueless when it comes to women flirting with him.
She often ignores the pain her chest when Hisui actually flirts back.
Because her life was spent in their company, she is just as mischievous as the KinGyo twins.
Kouga basically calls her his daughter, much to Inuyasha’s ire.
She has a younger brother named Hige and a sister named after her grandmother, Izayoi. Hige was born when she was 4 and Izayoi when she was 7.
While she loves slaying demons, she settled into the role of village priestess after Rin married Kohaku and Kagome settled into raising her siblings.
She and Hisui fell in love in their late teens to early twenties.
She was 19 when she got married, while Hisui was 21. They had their first child, a boy, two years later.
Moroha saved Towa’s future wife during a demon slaying mission.
She was able to meet her maternal family once. She was four months pregnant with her son when she was drawn to the well and went through.
She named her son after Kagome’s father.
Moroha outlives her husband and children, and even two generations of grandkids.
In an ode to her parents, she died resting against the Tree of Ages, surrounded by her cousins, uncle and aunt.
Hisui 💚
Took up demon slaying after being inspired by his mother and uncle.
He was gifted Hiraikotsu when he was eleven years old.
Has a much better relationship with his father than in the actual canon.
A bit clueless when it comes to women flirting with him. He’s a soft hearted young man, but he isn’t afraid to take care of his sisters and younger siblings.
The middle child and the oldest boy. Between his older sisters, and his younger brothers, someone has to be the Mom sibling.
There was period of seven years where he didn’t see Moroha or the Tuna twins. He was off demon slaying and forging his own path. He was 18 when he reunited with the three.
Hisui is his mother’s son when it comes to romance. He develops a crush on Moroha and doesn’t know how to handle it. So he usually keeps quiet but oh boy does he get jealous.
The moment he realizes he wants to marry Moroha, he sits Inuyasha down and asks for permission to court her. The hanyo is flabbergasted but he doesn’t make it easy (at first) but he folds a month in because he knows Hisui is a good kid.
He proposes in a similar fashion to his father. And like when his parents got engaged, Towa, Setsuna, KinGyo and their parents are all listening in.
He is a nervous wreck when he learns he is going to be a father.
He and Moroha have three children: two sons and a daughter.
Hisui was 84 when he died, surrounded by his family. He was also the first one to greet Moroha in the afterlife.

Towa Higurashi: Annoying Female Protagonist
When the information and trailer came out about Towa, we instantly thought she was going to be this badass female character who is brave and nice but instead we get an annoying, bossy, whiny, and overrated female character who is very clingy.
Being overrated
We were told by numerous characters and information that Towa is the strongest, and useful one in Yashahime but she's really weak and bland. towa was introduced as a strong girl, who is tired of playing the stereotypical girl in the modern world, thus, not hesitating when it comes to beating up her enemies, but then she traveled to the feudal era and we see a 180° flip in her personality, she started being kind and didn't want to kill the demons. They tried to create a second Rin/Kagome through her.
Everyone thinks and believes that she's the most important being and the chosen one but they're wrong.
Ex. Riku, Rion, Jyubei, Takechiyo, Kirinmaru, zero, etc.
In the first episode, we see Towa sitting and her hands tied up in simple rope as she was arrested and instead of instantly getting out of the rope by her strength and fleeing the area she decides that she wants to be rescued.
I wonder why it is that out of the 2 twins, towa has inherited the majority of sesshomaru's abilities.
In the modern era, Towa is the rowdy one getting into fights with weak gang members while holding back but as soon as she's in the feudal era she becomes this extreme pacifist who's naive who always wants others to be that too and annoyingly talks about the modern era.
setsuna and moroha have lived in the feudal era all of their lives and had to battle many demons and earned their abilities but towa, who's the least combat-experienced of them as she only battled weak humans, is suddenly the strongest out of the 3 of them and earns her abilities instantly without even trying and constantly saying sorry as we've seen in the 2nd episode is her having a weight set and trophies including one for track, martial arts, and kendo.
Ex. when they first battled kirinmaru, only towa, who lived in the modern era, was able to scratch him, not setsuna and moroha, who live in the feudal era.
2. Bringing modern items back
Towa was skeptical and hesitant on bringing materials back from the modern era, saying it could alter history. But nothing major really happens as kagome talks about and brings modern things back to share. Towa can be hypocritical since she is from the feudal era, shares items, and some would wonder what happened to her.
3. Hesitant
Towa is annoying when it comes to hesitantly killing enemies even though they killed others in cold blood and even the ones that are going to attack her family and friends like fighting Mistress Three eyes. Like kagome and rin, towa instantly forgives her enemies, bossy, controlling, whiny, and wants them to stand down, even feeling guilty for them and practically forcing others like setsuna and moroha to agree with her. And just like kagome and rin, towa can be too trusting and naive and would easily let her guard down and be susceptible to attacks.
4. Character Design
I really don't like her character design as it is ugly. I know in modern times, some women have short hair and she doesn't want to conform to standard gender norms as she's a tomboy but she looks like a boy and very instantly could be mistaken as one. I think they wanted her to be a boy but decided not to for girl power.
The creators probably wanted towa to look opposite of sesshomaru and setsuna.
4. Annoying
Like kagome and rin, towa is annoyingly outspoken as she thinks she can help anybody with their problems and pretend to be kind women. If towa's catchphrases have to be something it would be 'setsuna' and 'i'm sorry', as it's really annoying.
5. Pairing with Riku
Towa is 14 and they're making sick romantic moments between her and riku. He has known about her before she was even born.
6. Contrived Powerups
When towa received the Zanseiken, she immediately orders setsuna and moroha to stand down, even though they wanted to show off as well.
7. Obsession with Setsuna
What Towa has in common with kagome and rin is that they're obsessed and clingy to someone. For kagome its Inuyasha, for rin it's sesshomaru, and for towa it's setsuna and became even worse at season 2.
Despite being the older sister, setsuna acts more mature than towa, who acts childish, as towa lived in the modern where she lived like kagome where setsuna lived in the feudal era and she had to see the dangers of the world.
I understand that towa and setsuna were really close and separated when they were 4 and met again when they were 14 and towa wants to have a close relationship with setsuna again but she's just annoying and whiny about her, even seeing Mei as a substitute for her. Towa only activates her abilities and becomes serious and throws all her beliefs away when setsuna is involved and/or endangered like in episode 14 when homura revealed that he started the fire under zero's orders towa immediately got angry and wanted to kill him and even when he was about to kill them with a giant fireball she wouldn't back down because she still wanted revenge on him for tearing her and setsuna apart. Towa repeatedly made it known that she only cares about protecting setsuna and rarely thought about adopted family/in-laws from the modern era.
In episode 3, towa immediately felt guilty that setsuna was cursed with the dream butterfly and annoyingly blamed herself for her having it even though setsuna was content with not removing the curse and made it known multiple times. But it became the only reason that towa came back to the feudal era and selfishly repeatedly told setsuna that she only came back for the dream butterfly and she's doing this for her even though setsuna didn't want to do that, basically forcing this on setsuna.
It was shown in episode 7 in a dream that towa got setsuna her dreams back and hanging out with in modern era, meaning she wants setsuna to leave everything in the feudal era like her friends and everything she knew behind for her.
Majority of the time, towa constantly follows setsuna around like a puppy like in episode 5 when they had to find tokotsu and episode 20 when setsuna when to go guard the hanyo village and towa insists on going.
towa constantly thinks that because she's the older twin that she needs to protect setsuna and she doesn't want her to be alone as she's been around mei, who needs constant protection.
Ex. In episode 7, when setsuna and moroha were battling fubuki, towa made it clear that she wanted to defeat him only to save setsuna and nobody else.
Ex. In Episode 8, when setsuna became the only one who can battle kyuki because her demon energy wasn't taken away but towa thinks that setsuna can't do it on her own and needs saving, so she gathers up demon energy from moroha and the purple rainbow pearl then tries to attack kyuki only to fail and annoyingly scream 'why' constantly, only to have setsuna push her out of the way from kyuki's attack. Remembering a flashback, towa suddenly makes a speech about being saved even though she's the older sister then suddenly gets this power boost and quickly and blandly defeats kyuki.
Ex. In episode 12, when towa turned human for the first time she really thought setsuna turned into a human and has become scared and persistent about finding her, even when moroha assures that setsuna can handle herself towa still thinks setsuna needs her as its her feelings as a girl until she learns she doesn't go through this because of the dream butterfly.
And in episode 34, when the dream butterfly was killed towa, who became a human, still thought setsuna was scared and wanted to be with her even though she's fine and can handle herself.

I do not support the creator for the Yashahime manga but MAN…would I rather Towa at least be gay in his verison than have her be paired with this nasty old dude. And it’s mainly Sessrin shippers who like this pair too..
Towa is fourteen. Riku is way over her age by at least 200 years. HE WAS THERE AT HER BIRTH. Gross!

the thing that really sucks about Yashahime is that it probably destroyed any hope we have for a reboot or a continuation that I'd actually be interested in. It really sucks. because i love inuyasha, it was my favorite show as a kid, and it's such a comfort for me. i love the characters, i love the world. i know that it's extremely out of date, but i still love it. and yashahime is going to hang over everything from now on for an eternity.
I told myself I wouldn't answer anymore Yashahime asks but I've seen this idea floating around a lot so:
I highly doubt that yashahime has destroyed any potential for a reboot/remake/more Inuyasha. one thing I've learned in my time in fandom is that as long as there is a sizable enough fanbase, there is a chance for more, in some form or another. look at the Star Wars fandom: they've been burned how many times now, and yet they're still coming back for more. As long as Inuyasha's fandom is active, the people in charge of Inuyasha's IP will come up with ways to get money from them.
You’re right that it’s going to hang over the Inuyasha fandom now. The question writers are going to have to grapple with going forward is whether or not they see Yashahime as canon. The Star Wars prequels are known for being bad, but they're still generally accepted as "canon" among both the fandom and the writers. Yashahime is extremely divisive for a lot of very valid reasons, and a lot of people outright do not accept it as canon. But in the future, the people holding the Inuyasha IP may feel they have to take Yashahime into consideration when making new works, the same way that anything that Star Wars gets is going to consider the existence of the prequels.
But I highly doubt that Yashahime is going to be the last we see of Inuyasha. The brand is way too popular for it to just sit there. Yashahime trended several times over the course of it’s run, the producers no doubt took note of that. That’s not nothing.
I know what you're going through anon. I don't support Harry Potter anymore, at least not financially, thanks to JK Rowling's...ahem...behaviour (transphobia). But it was a huge part of my childhood growing up, and seeing it get dragged through the mud in the pursuit of cash has been...an experience. I wish that we could've just left it alone, but Warner Brothers & Rowling were not about to do that with their cash cow. We’re in a time where IPs are going to be milked to death as long as there are people around to pay for them, because we’re not allowed to let things die gracefully anymore. This is just the world we live in now, and I hate it. I miss endings. I miss the beauty of a good ending. I miss not having every single piece of lore explained to me because a company needed to make another movie to explain it. I miss films that didn’t depend on me having to watch 15 more beforehand.
So, yeah, I doubt that Yashahime has buried Inuyasha. The fact that they’re still selling merch and making a manga is a testament to that. Give it 5-10 years, maybe 15, but probably way less. They’ll come out with something else.
