words cannot describe the feeling i got when the aaron bushnell video appeared on my twitter timeline.
he screamed free palestine until his burning body couldnt anymore, while there are people choosing to turn a blind eye and watch all these innocent children and adults get murdered in front of their eyes. let alone agree with it.
if you think aaron’s actions were pointless and didn’t impact anyone, you would be oh so wrong. he gave his life instead of sitting there and condoning innocent palestinian people being murdered.
if you support israel, you are an ignorant, disgusting, and all around a pathetic person.

Just read somewhere that as of today (17th October 2023), Natasha and Tony are canonically dead 😭
It’s bad enough that it’s been five years since Infinity War and the snap, but now these two are officially gone too? I feel emotionally attacked right now.

What’s Bruce’s reaction to Tim saying he’s in a poly relationship with Superboy and Red Robin in ur secret Robin au?
His siblings would crack lots of jokes abt self love lol
Tim: we're... actually... in a *gulp* poly...cule Bruce: oh. um. that's, nice. Bruce (awkward pat) Tim: (sweating bullets)
Dick and Jason will never let him live it down. it's in their speeches at his wedding. they recite it at family gatherings. not a Christmas goes by where one of the batkids doesn't roast tim over his two person polycule
it's still not the stupidest excuse one of the Robins has made

Gone but Not Forgotten: Aurochs
Tumblr media
Have you ever contemplated the origins of the cow? That despite everything, there doesn't seem to be a non-feral origin to the lovable and sometimes dangerous modern cow? That's because, not all that long ago, there was! Behold, the mighty aurochs! Once native to the wide woodland swathes of Germany, these larger than average cattle have remains dating back to the Middle Pleistocene. These fellas were some of the largest megafauna of those days, and one of the largest to survive said mass extinction. The bulls were up to 71 inches at the shoulder, which is absolutely massive!
Tumblr media
From both genetic studies and fossil remains, the Aurochs was thought to have been domesticated twice! The modern cow as most US/European folks would be familiar with have their origins of domestication from the Eurasian Aurochs in the Fertile Crescent area of the Middle East, while the Zebu have origins from hybridization of Indian aurochs and the modern genus!
Tumblr media
Unlike our more modern conception of wide grassy plains and frolicking cattle, the aurochs seemed to prefer denser woodlands, riparian forests, and wetlands. These extinct cattle formed small herds in the winter, but were often found in small groups or individually when alive. Both cows and bulls were thought to have fought in both intra and interspecies conflicts, as both had horns. Records from their last stronghold, theJ aktorów forest, showed that they would even fight each other if necessary, to the death in some extremes. Only vulnerable to predation from wolves and predators, they were noted to be swift, aggressive and unafraid of humans.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And with many large animals, they played an important role in the lives of the humans that lived alongside them. From cave paintings in Lascaux and rock paintings in the Indus River dating to the Paleolithic, we were drawn to their image where we ran into them. From the Ishtar Gate to carvings in Egyptian tombs of the 20th century BC. Even in mythologies around Europe they appeared, for Sigurd hunts four. The cup above comes from the Mycenaen era in Greece in the 15th century BC.
And this admiration in turn helped spell the doom of the Aurochs. While the records for the North African Aurochs are spotty, they vanish around the time of the Romans gathering them for their coliseums. Favored in hunting by European noblemen, their populations dwindled to pockets of Eastern Europe by the 13th century. At that point, clear-cutting for large pastoral lands helped reduce their numbers down even further. While some may have lasted longer with preserved horns dating from the latter parts of the latter half of the 17th century in regions like Moldova, the last recorded herd was known to inhabit the Jaktorów Forest's marshy woods in the latter half of the 1500's. By 1604, there were only four left, and by 1627 one of the last members of the ice age megafauna perished of natural causes. And for most animals, this would be the end. But there is a strange chance, unique to the Aurochs. Not quite fully back, but pretty close.
Tumblr media
And while they may be gone, the genotype missing forever, we can get close. Several breeding programs in the past have been made in an attempt to "resurrect" the aurochs. While technically impossible given the genotype of the Aurochs is gone, the phenotype remains in modern cattle. While some are fairly notorious (Researching Heck Cattle breeds is worth a post on it's own), the project Tauros out of Spain aims to cross breed several varieties, reintroducing the closest we can into the wild. Several herds are already released, as we draw closer to the end of their Phase 3. Soon, they will breed and live by natural selection in a full hands off manner. And while some may say it's not truly the aurochs, if it walks like one, sounds like one, and ecologically fills the role as close as we can get it to? Close enough for me.
youtube
So for the song, I chose something a little bit different. While it has it's sad notes for the end of a species, it ends in a slightly more hopeful one. Here, Richard Durrant holds those higher ends for something better. Because while they may not be true auroch, the beast can return.

It’s honestly so iconic that Gertrude Robinson - a woman who spent her entire life pissing of supernatural entities whose, like, Whole Deal is inflicting pain and killing people, who was despised by at least one death cult (probably several), who averted multiple seeming apocalypses through the power of ingenuity and extreme violence - finally died when her shitty evil boss threatened her with a gun and she told him, “Look, I’m busy, either shoot me or go away.”

I cannont express how much i wish confort and love for scar and his family. The passing of Jellie has probably effected me (and a lot of others) more than i would like to admit, but I think i speak for all of us when i say that I am so glad we got to spend the time we did with her, and she will always be alive in our hearts and in our minecraft worlds. I hope her and Scar had a lovely 17 years together. Jelliecat will also be a major part in the minecraft community and is loved by lots of us and the amazing words and artworks and tearshead just helps to prove that Jellie will never be forgotten. May Jelliecat be loved long after her passing and let Scar and his family get all the love they deserve and more, stay safe out there everyone love you guys lots <3
