Technically, the anime version of Inuyasha was incomplete, but thankfully the Final Act came out to complete it (although a few arcs were skipped). But then they tried to add more but it resulted being a cheap badly written crap.

This is one of the most hilariously stupid things I’ve ever seen a raisin say. For context, the OP asked ‘what are y’all’s Inuyasha icks?’ and while there were the usual MirokuPervert and Shippou comments, the overwhelming majority were SessR!n.

So naturally, one of the shippers, clearly butthurt and clearly unable to come up with a single defense or excuse for their ship, manages to use their buttcheeks to type this little gem out.

Yashahime is problematic. No, you can't argue otherwise without exposing toxic traits you need to deal with. Here's why:

There's a lot of issues with Yashahime, many of which have been the subject of much debate over the last two years. Typically, the focus is on Sesshoumaru and Rin's relationship. While this pairing/ ship is undoubtedly problematic for reasons that many have already thoroughly explored, I want to talk about one problem in Yashahime (YH) that is not being talked about loudly enough that is not a debatable issue: neglectful parenting.

I will keep this as short as possible because the matter really is simple, and regardless of any justifications YH fans and S*ssr*n shippers may throw at the matter, there is no excuse. Such actions would just be further confirming the blatant willingness to make excuses for issues that exist in morally black and white territory that this side of the fandom unfortunately already champions.

In YH, Sesshoumaru, under the claim of trying to make them stronger, chooses to abandon his daughters. Don't come spewing crap about other adults being there to watch over them as they grew; it doesn't change the fact that Sesshoumaru - who is arguably more capable than any other in seeing to their training and protection - bailed. And continuing in the theme of negligence and abandonment, he allows his daughters to both suffer unnecessarily and die when it is something that he could have prevented.

I don't even know where to start with Rin. As a parent, Sesshoumaru's choices and actions are unconscionable. But then we see Rin express humor/ joy/ or whatever inappropriately placed cheerful crazy was going through her head as she tells Towa and Setsuna that they'll be persecuted just for being their father's daughters. It's mind blowing. And as the linked Tweet below shows (thanks, @mythicamagic!), it is a wildly stark difference from how a parent valued her hanyou child in the OG series. (More written below the picture.)

I'm sure people will speculate on why Rin reacted as such and also try to justify why she did - which is ridiculous and indicative of much deeper personal issues if one cannot call problems out and instead clings biases to the point of advocating for the detriment and harm of others.

But Sesshoumaru and Rin in YH, no matter their reasoning, are shit parents.

It is never the job of a parent to risk their children being harmed, traumatized, hurt (all of which we do see the girls struggling with as the series ends), or killed. It is never justifiable for a parent to allow for an put a child in the position of suffering all of the above. And that's what bothers me most about YH. This is exactly what Sesshoumaru does and Rin does absolutely nothing about (we can talk about how much this parallels women who choose an abusive relationship over their children's well-being another time - note, this is not criticizing women who are truly stuck and need help getting out but cannot.)

Don't come in here trying to throw the "It was another time," "It's fiction," and all that other crap. Being another time period doesn't negate that the actions are still harmful, and being fiction doesn't give fans the excuse to justify toxic and harmful behaviors and choices.

Sesshoumaru and Rin are problematic. But Yashahime is problematic because it takes every toxic and harmful thing they did as parents and tries to spin it as justifiable or right for the circumstances when there truly is no excuse for it.

Inuyasha proved that. His mother was around as long as she could be and didn't abandon him, and whether or not Inuyasha's your favorite, there's zero debate about him being strong and someone people don't want to screw with.

Sesshoumaru had a choice. Rin had a choice too (pity the man who takes newborns out of their mother's arm's and drops them in a forest...if Jaken or anyone else was there to see to their safety, could've been good ol' Sessh). And when Rin is finally out of that tree? Rin 100% had the ability to get into it with Sesshoumaru for his stupid-ass decisions and tell him to get said arse into gear and stop putting their girls through shit. She bears blame for allowing it to continue as well.

No matter how you feel about the show, there is nothing salvageable or justifiable about Sesshoumaru and Rin's parenting choices. It is neglect, and it is abandonment, and child protective services would have a heyday with the both of them.

And if you're still trying to justify this crap? Time to do some soul searching. And I hope to God if you're a parent you don't take the same stance in justifying harm to your own children. Setsuna and Towa are victims of neglectful and poor parenting, and YH tries to tell this story in a way that is family-friendly and celebrated.

Stop making excuses for harm, even if it's fictional.

The only thing left to say is what the fuck is wrong with people that this is even a thing?

I gotten told to ignore it but it's becoming a plague. These Lolicon fandoms are known to move parasitically from fandom to fandom, slowly wrecking them. The current state of this fandom says it all. Tbh, all I see left of the HnY part of the fandom is mostly those same shippers pairing the 14 year old twins with Kirinmaru, same character that actually showed disgust of the fact of pedomaru marrying a kid (and no, it wasn't just cause of the prophecy shit that later became irrelevant like all the plots they tried to do and dropped because the studio had the writing all over the place). Really, don't even get me started on things the Sesshomaru's seiyuu and the director said.

Yashahime is an official product; yes. No, it's not a true continuation of it. In other words not "canon". It's just an official product. The movies, ovas, cd dramas are also all official products; even the og anime. The only thing that will be "true canon" is the manga the author wrote starting in November 13, 1996 in all black & white glory. And yes, that manga does not have saucerib nor ever implied it. The author stating he's her paternal/legal guardian figure makes that pretty solid. Anyone, who thought otherwise that— well that was just you 🙃

Her attitude towards the sequel, merch of Inuyasha refusing to even promote saucerib as a couple and her latest opinions with interviewers trying to push the idea of sequels for her other works says it all. The minute the spin off was over, it was like hny didn't exist and the only thing that did was Urusei Yatsura. Plus all the info we got here showing what actually went down with hny it's enough.

What really hurts me as a SessKagu shipper is that how sinners like to belittle Kagura.

Yes, RT said that Kikyo was Sesshomaru's type.

Yes, SesshKag is the second biggest fanon ship after InuKag.

Yes, SessKagu has the lowest number of shippers compare to other ships.

But, it's HER that RT decides Sesshomaru to have a feeling akin to romantic. Sinners, and some people, totally forgot about that and keep trashing about Kagura as if she's the worst character in Inuyasha.

Inuyasha is currently trending on Twitter and sadly Pedomaru is all over it.

If I'm not mistaken, RT said Sesshomaru's type would be "someone elegant and clever/wise like Kikyo". I never took it as a statement in support of SessKik specifically (not with Kikyo being the pre-incarnation of Kagome and in love with Inuyasha) , just as RT pointing out that it would take an outstanding woman such as her to capture his attention.

It's true, SessKagu has less supporters than SessKag (mostly due to the anime slaughtering their dynamic and removing key scenes and moments), but like you said, it's Kagura that RT chose. Kagura who is both elegant and clever, thus fulfilling RT's initial prediction of Sesshomaru's type! And here's the best part - RT herself said that Kagura and Sesshomaru's storylines came together spontaneously. She didn't plan on it, they became "entangled" as she wrote. Which means she, the author, happened to notice that they fit remarkably well together, even though she had not been writing them with that specific purpose in mind! I love that for us. And I love seeing the lolicons trash Kagura - firstly, because she's an amazing character that they will never succeed in tearing down. "Sesshomaru never cared for her!" Anyone with eyes can see that he did. "Kagura never touched his heart!" Bring out the manga panels of Totosai stating that something NEW was born in Sesshomaru's heart that hadn't been there previously. ROTFL

Secondly, because their seething rage and hatred for Kagura specifically is unquestionably proof that, deep down, they know where Sesshomaru's canon interest lay ✨✨♥️

On episode 5 of the Inuyasha rewatch and already, in his first appearance, Lord Sesshomaru is spouting some dramatic ass, narcissistic poetry and flashing the wolves he’s about to slaughter a smile:

Look at dat emotion. So sassy. Sassy evil demon lord. Has absolutely no idea he’s about to become a dad in season two, episode 35/36.

Meanwhile, all throughout the dumpster fire what-if, his imposter, Pedomaru: 😑😑😑

HE HAS SMILED AT LEAST FOUR TIMES IN HIS FIRST EPISODE, The Arisrocratic Assassin, Sesshomaru.

First at the start of the episode, spouting the poetry, “My power is what it is.”

Second when he said, “I’ve quite missed you as well, little brother.

Third time, after hurting the Unmother and his brother calls his bluff, “A trick, is it?”

And finally, fourth, when he threatens Jaken near the end of the episode, “This scheme of yours is beneath me. Should it fail, of course… you will die.”

Of course that last bit is just a reminder that Sesshomaru, the real Lord Sesshomaru, despises manipulation tactics and schemes, and tends to face things with a head on approach. 🤷🏻‍♀️ But like holy frick I’m really gonna be hyper focusing on every single glare or sassy smirk he makes this run through huh.

Mothers in Inuyasha

In the wake of the absolute dumpster fire that was Yashahime, can we just get a round of applause for these two mothers? Without delving into more about their characters than what I am specifically addressing here, while there are obviously differences between them in how they parent from the brief glimpses we were given, both prioritized or showed a respect for the well-being of their children.

Izayoi mourned the reality that Inuyasha would face, and given the look into his childhood, appears to have been trying to shield him from that as long as she could.

Kimi, for all her snark and razzing, didn't hesitate to provide Sesshoumaru with a way out of the mess he had gotten himself into when it meant life or death. She also discouraged him taking a risk that could harm him.

Ya know...stuff that actual parents do, magical fantasy abilities aside.

Even the third Inuyasha movie, Tenka Hadō no Ken (Swords of an honorable ruler), show Touga imparting a final life lesson to Sesshoumaru before running off to fight for Inuyasha and Izayoi's lives, ultimately sacrificing himself.

I really want to know where the fuck Sunrise got off destroying what had already been established in the OG series and thinking the script and story they had planned was somehow good.

It is entirely antithetical to the story we all originally fell in love with.

So I happened to come across a clip of pedomaru’s English Dub and um....who is that? The voice is so different. I don’t know shit about trashyhime so didn’t even know they had a different voice actor...

everything down to the voice feels like a ripoff.

I guess the VA has a nice voice but it doesn’t feel like a ‘Sesshomaru’ voice. But maybe that’s just me?

Also I went to check the og Sesshomaru’s voice just to make sure I’m not crazy and the comments are disgusting. Sessrinners in the comments seeing Sesshomaru and (even more of a)child Rin together and saying shit like
