Our thoughts go out to victims of deadly attack at gay bar leading to cancellation of Oslo Pride
We are shocked and heartbroken to hear about the shooting at Oslo’s London Pub, a popular gay bar, that left two people dead and twenty one gravely wounded. The police are treating this as a terrorist attack. Oslo Pride, which was supposed to have taken place today, has been cancelled for safety reasons.
Our hearts go out to the victims and their loved ones.
This news is tough, on all of us in the community, as once again, the scene of this tragedy was a gay club, one of the rare places meant to be a safe space for LGBTQ people, and where they are to be able to enjoy themselves and find some respite from the inequalities and pressures they face in everyday life.
The cancellation of Oslo pride as a result is a bitter pill to swallow - necessary for safety, today, but hopefully a safe Oslo pride can be held in the coming weeks or months in honor of the victims.
If ever anyone thought “pride is not necessary anymore”, this is your answer.
We believe that we should not stop fighting for our safe spaces now out of fear, because it is this very fear and isolation that the attackers seek to create. We are stronger, we find support in our community, and will continue to seek and build that community. We will keep finding each other  in our bars, we will keep fighting for our safe space and attend Pride.
If you (or someone close to you) are in need of help and support at this time, here are some resources we put together after the Orlando Pulse shootings - they may not be entirely up to date but it’s a starting point
(links that no longer work deleted form original post)
Takemehomefromnarnia’s resource masterpost for LGBTQ+ helplines and chats, organisations, safe houses and more (warning some of these links were first put together in 2014, some work, some do not - we will work on compiling a new list of resources )

UK Government publishes transgender youth guidance document for England schools
On Tuesday, 19th of December, the UK Government published new guidelines advising England schools and colleges on how to deal with transgender young people. Issued by the Department of Education, signed by Gillian Keegan, education secretary, and Kemi Badenoch, equalities minister, the guidance (citing the Cass Review) states that "social transition is not a neutral act" and "schools and colleges should take a cautious approach".
The guidance also says that schools and colleges should consider whether a child's social transition is in their best interest, and what impact it will have on a wider school community.
Main points from article linked above:
Document (read full PDF here) does not include an outright ban against social transition for students as it has been found to be unlawful.
Five general principles set out in the document are as follows:
"1. Schools and colleges have statutory duties to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children.
2. Schools and colleges should be respectful and tolerant places where bullying is never tolerated.
3. Parents should not be excluded from decisions taken by a school or college relating to requests for a child to ‘socially transition’.
4. Schools and colleges have specific legal duties that are framed by a child’s biological sex.
5. There is no general duty to allow a child to ‘social transition’."
Guidance suggests that schools have an obligation to inform parents if a child requests to socially transition, stating that this should occur "other than in the exceptionally rare circumstances where involving parents would constitute a significant risk of harm to the child." The document does not specify what qualifies as a significant risk of harm.
The guidance is not official legislation. This means schools and colleges do not have to abide by the points set out in the guidance, however many will as this is the most recent official Government document to draw from whilst making new polices pertaining to transgender students.
The guidance is a draft, and is out for consultation for 12 weeks, until 12th March 2024, and the government has said it "would like to encourage schools, colleges, parents, and the sector to share their feedback." Feedback can be sent via an online form on the government website (here).
Additional extracts/quotes, articles and information below the cut
On bathrooms, changing rooms and single sex spaces: (source: UK government website)
"Where possible, schools and colleges should consider providing alternative facilities for gender questioning children who aren’t comfortable using the single-sex areas designated for their biological sex. These alternative facilities, however, should never undermine the single-sex facilities, for example a boy should never be allowed to go into a girls toilet, or vice versa."
On name/pronoun changes (if they are supported by a school):
"These are significant decisions that impact both the child and those around them. As a result, particularly for pronouns, we expect changes to be rare. And even in these rare occasions, children and teachers shouldn’t be made to use ‘preferred pronouns’. Instead, alternatives should be found, such as using first names and bullying mustn’t be tolerated. Schools must still record a child’s legal name and sex in the admissions register."
All above quotes taken directly from government article on the guidance (linked above, also read here)
Currently, individuals under the age of 18 are unable to obtain a GRC (Gender Recognition Certificate) from the Government. This guidance appears to attempt to restrict social transition for trans children at school, although, as stated above, it is not official legislation.
You can read the full guidance document released by the Government here.

Got some great LGBTQ+ news from my country and wanted to share!
Context: 29/6/2023 a neo-nazi Greek party organized a protest against LGBTQ+ people in Chania, Crete. That same day was the day the first the first self-organized pride parade happened in Chania! A protest against queerphobia, conservatism, patriarchy, racial violence and fascism! Like news sites described it, the fascists and nazis hid right back into their burrow. Despite homophobic threats, the parade was extremely successful and went on for a really long time!
From a folk up in Saloniki, love to every protester in Chania! Poison them nazis! Δηλητήριο στους ναζί!

Gee, I thought these people were the ones who were like “If you don’t like it, you can just move to a blue state.”
And now they’re mad the guy is doing just that?
You can’t oppress and discriminate against someone then be mad when they take their highly useful skill elsewhere.

I really hope this reaches more people, I'm only reposting this information from Instagram, the least that I can do. (Update: I changed their upbringing as it appears to have been listed wrong) Wiki page
When I just saw this information I couldn't stop crying thinking about it, and now my heart aches. They were the same age as me, I know for a fact like any other teen they dreamt of their future, who they would want to become, what to achieve, create, wondering if they meet those in the future they can call friends, wondeting if it'll get better when they grow up, maybe wished to leave that terrible place or maybe wanted to stay. How could anyone let this happen, why were they discharged from hospital so easily? And the school, we all know why. I hate to think about how, even with all the progress made, these things still happen.
"murdered schoolgirl Brianna Ghey on February 16, 2023. Candlelit vigils are being held across the UK this week for Brianna Ghey, 16, who was stabbed at Linear Park in Culcheth, Cheshire last Saturday. Brianna was a transgender girl and police are now investigating her killing as a hate crime. A boy and girl, both 15, have been charged with her murder"
An article that explains trans hate crime murders as on 2023
I hate everyone who have ever committed such vile hate crimes, I wish them in prison and hell. But i would never go down to their level. But I also blame the government, the school, and even those bigoted online accounts that teach their followers hate. In this case LibsOfTikTok, who targeted the teacher of this school, who supports lgbtq+, so they had to leave their position. It must have been the push for this to happen. I think their tiktok account has been thankfully deleten. But i have no idea about Twitter or any other. Please check and mass report them if it still exists. (Link to Instagram reel that this information is from)
ADDITION, PLEASE MASS REPORT THESE ACCOUNTS

seeing people (and by people I mean. not even russians) already speaking about the whole thing going on in Russia as if it were a fucking quirky joke. “Oh I’m considered an extremist in this country I don’t live in at all! Uwu!” “LOLZ I’m proud to be deemed a danger in Russia!” “PROUD ASSIGNED LGBT EXTREMIST BY RUSSIAN LAW” You know this shit is very likely going to get people killed right. Like. You know that, right. People are very likely going to die because of this law. And you know you’re not helping in the fucking slightest right

I'm often posting and talking about Mexico and my "mexican point of view" on media and news. This time, however, I feel deeply saddened and disappointed of my country
Yesterday, Jesus Ociel Baena, the first non-binary Mexican magistrate and their partner were found dead in their home in Aguascalientes. Magistrate Jesus Ociel was well known and recognized for their efforts to protect and promot LGBTQIA+ rights in the public sector, specially within the judiciary system.
The details are still unknown, but what it is clear is how Mexico is still a heavily LGBTQIA+-phobic, with media using incorrect pronouns and social media users celebrating the death of a person
Jesus Ociel, we name you and remember your fight for us LGBTQIA+ Mexicans

March 25, 2023 - TERF piece of shit Posie Parker had to cut her transphobic event in Auckland, New Zealand, short after a huge crowd of locals decided to run her fascist ass out of town, and she was covered in tomato sauce.
She was so shaken by the event she ended her entire transphobic tour of Australia and New Zealand, which so far had mostly proven popular with literal neo-nazis, and fled the country entirely. Good job, Auckland! [video]/[video]
