kuroo wasn’t afraid of much, yet something about the dark chilled him to the bone. until now he’d been able to convince himself that his fears probably stemmed from some sort of childhood trauma. maybe it was because of that old oak tree outside his window that looked eerily similar to the hecatoncheires. or the fact that he’d watched one too many horror movies past sundown. though plausible options, both were very much incorrect.
blindly he searches for his phone hidden among the sea of pillows. once in his grasp, the sickeningly bright screen tells him it’s 2:30am. right on time.
today marks the 365th night in which his slumber had become plagued with nightmares. each dream was always different, yet they all ended the exact same way, waking him at the exact same time. it was the cruel way his mind reminded him of his past mistakes.
removing himself from the warmth of his blankets, he makes his way through the empty halls towards his study. it’s become a sort of routine for him, writing down each nightmare just as he remembered them. he hoped that maybe by compartmentalizing his feelings, he’d be able to understand what triggered the onset of nightmares.
but tonight he decides to try something different. once seated at his desk, pen in hand, his hand begins to race across the page.
to my dearest, y/n
did you notice where i placed the comma? i’m sure you would. after all, you were always the one that said the placement of a comma can change the entire meaning of a sentence.
it feels unsettling, writing to you like this. i guess it’s because i haven’t really gotten over the fact that you’re no longer with me. but if i remember correctly (who am i trying to kid, i would never forget this), you were always a sucker for these type of things - sappy love letters that is.
so that’s what this is i guess. my last love letter to you.
where do i begin? “from the beginning” you’d probably say. i miss your sarcasm.
if i’m being honest, i wasn’t too fond of the idea of meeting you, but i’m sure you felt the same.  after all, who wants to get stuck in a business marriage, especially in this day and age? plus meeting your future partner in the spring, how cliché.
thank god my friends were at that dinner though, right? youth these days really know how to lighten up the atmosphere. at least them being there gave me the chance to tell you my nifty chemistry joke. do you remember how it went? i’ll tell you again anyways: why did carbon marry hydrogen? they bonded well from the minute they met. don’t think i didn’t see you try not to choke on your water.
i consider our second meeting our first date. i went in with the expectation that it would be purely business talk and it’d be over within the hour. but then you showed up all out of breath in a casual outfit, hair stuck to your sweaty forehead from the summer heat. from a ways away i could see your caretakers, in a panic trying to catch up to you. you pointed into the distance, trying to distract my bodyguard and despite being a trained professional, they fell for it. how thrilling it was to run through the busy streets of tokyo with you, escaping our obligations even if it was only for a few hours.
even to this day i’m not sure if you meant to drag me along because you didn’t want to hurt my feelings or because you wanted me by your side. whatever the reason, i’m glad you did because that was probably the most fun i had in awhile. i missed feeling like i had the freedom to do anything i wanted. it can get tiresome, you know? acting like the perfect child. who am i kidding, you know that better than anyone.
our relationship only spiraled from then on, and soon enough the leaves began to change colour. everyday you showed me a new way to live my life, and so it didn’t take me long to figure out that i’d fallen for you. i can’t tell you how happy i was when you agreed to marry me on your own accord. i’ll admit the way i asked you was kind of cheesy, but can you blame a guy? you were the hydrogen to my carbon. a relationship formed out of obligation, only to become something so much more meaningful. we were made to last.
you know, i’ve been having nightmares since you left. i’ve tried to tell myself it’s just a phase, that eventually things will go back to normal. but after 365 days i think i can finally admit that i hate the night not because i’m afraid of the dark but because it leaves me vulnerable and exposed to my own demons.
my nightmares start out different but they always end in the same way. all i can see is your figure, walking into the distance. no matter how hard i run, how loud i scream, you never look back. but today was different. i wanted to wake up so bad, i couldn’t live through this scene. not again.
this time you did turn back, the words you spoke held so much resentment and anger, “i don’t need you to succeed”. your eyes burned with so much hatred, it was probably enough to melt the snow. my heart is still aching as i write this. it was exactly like the day you left me.
i’m sorry i lashed out at you when you said you wanted to be a writer. you were always the more optimistic one between us, and i was always jealous of you for that. when you suggested we pack up and leave - that we start anew and do the things we really wanted to do, i wanted to. i swear.
you were right to call me a coward. i was scared of leaving the life that was so meticulously planned out for me. i thought i owed it to my parents to inherit their company, to carry on the family legacy. i thought i could provide you with the best life possible if i did everything they told me. i was afraid that if i took that leap of faith only to fall flat on my face, you’d leave me. funny how things work out. truth is, all i needed was you by my side.
you know i attended your book signing yesterday. you looked so happy, chatting with your fans about your newest release. i don’t think you saw me, and even if you did, you probably pretended not to recognize me. after seeing you yesterday, i realized something.
y/n, you were wrong to say you didn’t need me. i like to think that i created that fire within you by calling your dreams childish.
and it’s going to haunt me forever.
forever yours, kuroo

I LAB you <3
PROMPT:  Person B telling really dumb or corny jokes to Person A, thinking they are so clever and funny. Person A just thinks Person B is adorable for thinking the jokes are funny.
PAIRING: Tetsurō Kuroo X reader
WARNING: Your heart will melt
“Hey Y/N.”
You bit your tongue, eyes glued to the book as you gave a disgruntled sigh. Kuroo giggled, making you irk. Please, just shut up….please. He had been annoying you for the past hour. It wasn’t your fault that he was here. In your house. In your room. Lying on your bed. Technically it was your mom’s fault for letting the pesky man in.
“Y/N!” Kuroo whined, pouting at you as he wiggled his way to the other side of your bed.
“No.” you firmly said, moving away from Kuroo’s worm-like movement. You gave him a dark glare, eyes going straight back to your book. You didn’t want to leave your precious book.
“Please,” he pouted even more, pinching your sides as you yelped. You glared at him, smacking his messy, black hair with the back of your book.
“Leave me alone.” you snarled, snapping the book back open.
“One joke, please.”
You snorted. Joke. The only thing funny here was the fact Kuroo thought it was a joke. You didn’t know when it started. Maybe back in the second year of high school. Where Kuroo thought his jokes were funny. Too bad you had never laughed. The only people who really did laugh at his jokes were the girls that wanted to get with him. But, that didn’t stop Kuroo from badgering you with his stupid jokes.
“Fine.”
“Then look at me,” Kuroo whined, as you slowly put your book in your lap, spine facing upwards. There was a slight silence, as Kuroo stared at you with intense black eyes, his eyes sparkled with slyness, as his tongue peeked from his mouth, flicking the top of his lip. You felt heat gather on your cheeks, flowing down to your neck. You cleared your throat, running a hand through your hair.
“Spit it out, Roosterhead,” you snapped, coughing as he gave you a wink. As if he knew exactly what you had been looking at.
He cleared his own throat, eyes snapping to your face trying to catch your wandering eyes.
“Are you oxygen and neon?” Kuroo winked at you again. You grimaced.
“No.” you dully said, waiting for him to finish the line.
“Really? Because you’re the…” he paused as if building up suspense, “You’re the ONe.”
You knew the joke. You weren’t that bad a chemistry. But it still made your heart pound. You wished he really meant it.
“...Nice.” you said, turning back to your book.
“Hey Y/N,” You paused at the serious undertone in his voice, “I lab you.”
His eyes were piercing your soul as you forced yourself to maintain eye contact. You could feel the heat crawl down your skin, over your cheeks, forehead, neck...everywhere. You didn’t know what to say. Or even what to do. Was this a confession? No way. It seemed impossible that the man you loved since you were in junior high could love you back. There was no way. You watched girls come in and leave. You always knew that you would never be one of those girls. You would never cuddle with him, kiss him, hug him...you couldn’t even tell him you loved him.
It was like a pang in your heart, your eyes welling up as you looked away from his gaze.
Cruel. How cruel.
“Kitten?” he asked, reaching towards your face and cupping your cheeks. He pulled you into a small, platonic hug.
“What’s wrong?”
You muffled a small ‘screw you’ into his chest as tears stained his white shirt. He groaned, running a soothing hand through your hair.
“It’s that time of the month right,” he suddenly said, “Is your stomach hurting again? Should I get some pads? Do you want chocolate? I have a-”
“I love you,” you interrupted him in a small voice, blushing at the fact he knew about your monthly schedule.
He coughed slightly, but not letting you go. He didn’t say anything for a while, only letting you silently sob into his chest. He whispered soothing things into your ear, holding you tighter.
You felt light-headed. Does he love you too? He’s not saying anything. You pushed against him, weak from crying.
“I love you,” you said again, clutching the sleeves of his shirt in your fingers. He grinned at you, tears welling up in his own eyes.
“Say it again,” he whispered as he leaned in closer, pulling you into him again.
“I love you,” you didn’t have to say it again. You could have made him say it, but there was something about his blissfully happy spark in his eyes and the way his mouth trembled as he leaned forward…
Oh god you loved him.
“I love you too,” he breathed onto your lips as they slowly connected.
You didn’t know how long your lips stayed together. It could have been seconds. Minutes...Hours even. But you didn’t care. Not as he pulled back, rubbing his eyes as he took you in.
His smile only grew wider.
“Hey Kitten,” he whispered, as he brought you in for another hug, “Wanna form a covalent bond.”
You didn’t need to look up to see his smirk. You could already tell his way. You gritted your teeth.
What did you get yourself into….

Bokuto Angst Anthem Suggestion:
Liability by Lorde
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“They say, you’re a little much for me
You’re a liability”
“I’m a little much for everyone”
“The truth is I am a toy, that people enjoy
Til all of the tricks don't work anymore
And then they are bored of me”
Personally, I read this from Bokuto’s perspective either as a first year on the team or in an AU where akaashi didn’t join the team. Both scenarios mean he doesn’t have that emotional support and/ or regulation that Akaashi provides for him which balances out the Fukurodani team.
People enjoy Bokuto’s enthusiasm but often can’t keep up with him. Such as shown in the manga - when the team literally couldn’t keep the same pace as Bokuto when run training, leaving him alone.
Then even more so when Bokuto’s mood crashes during a game or perhaps (although not shown in manga) crashes as a result of any day-to-day setbacks he views as his fault. This is a difficult trait for many to handle without knowing Bokuto well enough- as Akaashi is able to. Meaning many could get ‘bored’ of handling him.
As a result of this social disconnect, the concept of being a ‘liability’ is introduced. Which really captures the angle of potential angst Bokuto is often portrayed with in canon true-to-content fics.
Also: There have been many analyses of Bokuto not being neurotypical, causing these fluctuations in mood. I didnt go into these details here but I recommend reading into is as a really interesting element of Bokuto’s charcater study.

Haikyu boys when they make you insecure PT 1 (Kenma,Kuroo)

Kenma:
You and Kenma have been in a long distance relationship for a while.
Both of you stream, Kenma doing it seriously for his job and you just playing it for fun,
Sometimes you stream together of course but because of your difference in audiences and games you don’t do it all the time
“Bye guys! Hope you enjoyed todays stream” You wave off to the camera and shut off your PC taking a few sips of water.
Kenma: Hey.. nice stream today Y/N are you going to watch mine?
Y/N: Of course I will
Kenma: Ok talk to you later
Y/N: okayy <3
Kenma is what inspired you to stream, he also taught you all the ins and outs of streaming making sure you were set and ready. Your gaming style was very relaxed and friendly as you obviously weren’t streaming as a career just for fun and to make friends with your online viewers. The games you played were usually: minecraft, COD, Sims 4, Roblox, Animal crossing and *Insert your favourite game here* the way I literally named all the games I play
You wait for Kenmas stream to start, kind of excited as you’ve always loved seeing your boyfriend in his ‘element’ when it comes to playing to games. As your boyfriends stream starts you see he’s already chosen what game he is playing today which is to your surprise Call of duty, since that was the game you were playing earlier.
As he gets into the stream you are entertained, as always since Kenma was being his usual self laughing at his own deadpan jokes and interacting with his viewers. He is currently waiting for his capture the flag game to start so as he waits he decides to read some comments in the chat.
You’re used to the usual ‘Kenma where is Y/N I miss your usual streams together’ or ‘kenma please RAIL me’ which always makes you laugh. You were also used to the common hate comments Kenma and You both got on your streams but you were definitely not ready for this..
@ Ihatewomanandiamadick : Hey Kenma did you see your girls stream today she is so dog shit at COD lmaoooo jhdfkjdrhdrr
“Well hello ihatewomenandiamadick” started Kenma “but yes I did see Y/N stream and obviously she is not the best at games and I would definitely NOT ask her to team with me for any serious gaming competitions ... but she’s fun to watch I guess” as he finished speaking about you his game loaded up so he focused his attention on that the words he just spoke going to the back of his mind as they end up at the forefront of yours.
You obviously knew you were no match for Kenma’s gaming expertise but you didn’t expect him to publicly agree with a hate comment let alone add more of his imput on you. Did he really think that about you? ‘She’s fun to watch I guess’ did he not even enjoy your streams that much?
You wanted to distract yourself, and you definitely couldn’t do that watching him so you close off of his stream and get in your bed deciding to watch your favourite show.
Waking up at 6pm after your sad nap, you see that Kenma has left some messages to you,
Kenma: hey did you watch my stream?
Kenma: do you want to facetime later and play some minecraft..?
Kenma: y/n r u ok??
Y/N: oh hey cnt play minecraft w you rn not really in the mood..
Kenma: oh ok..
Time passed since then a month to be exact and you basically dropped off of the face of the earth, you weren’t in the mood to do anything let alone game and stream, which was a constant reminder of your boyfriend (something you didn’t want at the time.)
You felt embarrassed over all the things he said about you and all the things you now think he thinks about you and the way you play. Maybe he thinks even worse things about you, beyond just how you game? What if he doesn’t even genuinely like you...or he has someone else...it does make sense, you do both live miles and miles away from eachother AND he’s a big streamer you see the amount of girls in his comments.
You shake your head to erase your protruding thoughts coming in your mind, but it doesn’t really help. You and Kenma haven’t spoken much over this month he tried to constantly reach out to you at first but you assume he got bored over your constant, repetitive dry texts. So you were almost content with you and Kenma not even being in a relationship anymore.
However on Kenma’s side, he was beyond worried about you. Since you haven’t been streaming or barely responded to his texts he thought something happened to you, but he didn’t want to be seen as ‘overstepping boundaries’ if there was nothing wrong at all with you and you simply were just ‘not in the mood.’
So here he is, in Kuroo’s apartment trying to get him to help him out on finding out what is wrong with you.
“So kenma can you remember what happened the day when Y/N went ‘ghost’“ asked Kuroo in a mock detective voice
“Y/N didn’t go ‘ghost’ Kuro, and take this seriously” said Kenma “I’m worried bout her”
“Okay fine, but for real what’s the last thing you remember before she started acting all weird.”
“Umm I think it was around a month ago I did my saturday stream and I think she was on it but she didn’t leave her usual nice comments throughout”
“Ohh that was the stream when you sai-” Kuroo said before pausing his words as the memory of what Kenma said about you on his stream came in his mind, as even Kuroo thought it was a tad bit harsh for Kenma to say all those things “I think I know why Y/N has been so distant kiddo”
“What why?” Asked Kenma
Kuroo pulls out his phone and brings up the clip off what Kenma said and Kenma’s face cringes ‘did he really say all those things about you’ he thinks.
“Shit.. I didn’t know I said all of that” he said quietly “how do I make it up to her?”
“There’s only one thing you can really do Kenma” said kuroo
You are woken up out of your sleep by a knock on the door. Getting out your bed like a zombie, you trudge to your front door only surprised by what you see. There in his 5′6 glory stood your ‘boyfriend’ Kenma with a controller and a kitten teddy in his hand. You were very tempted to shut the door in his face and get back to your dreamless sleep but you waited on him to speak.
“Hi Y/N” he said quietly “wanna play some minecraft...?”
“Why so you can ridicule me on how shit I am?” You ask bitterly ready to shut the door on him
“No! No not all” he said stopping you from shutting the door entering your place “Y/N i’m really sorry on what I said, I wasn’t thinking AT ALL... I love watching your streams and I think you’re great at playing games...I was just being a dick,”
You take a deep breath before tears pool in your eyes “what you said really hurt me kenma..” you say “ I know people say shitty things on the internet all the time... it’s the internet. But I wasn’t expecting you to agree with the hater and say even more shitty things on top of that.. I don’t think I want to even stream anymore”
Upon hearing that, Kenma’s mouth parts open with shock ‘you dont want to stream anymore’ were his comments that bad? Now he feel even worse as he should and is now more determined to make things right.
He impulsively drags your arm into your game room, catching your surprise ‘what is he up too?’ you think. He stops for a second seeing your usual pristine gaming set up, collected up with dust.
“What are you do-” you start
“Just wait!” He says, as he rushes away turning on all your stuff and logging onto his twitch account as he sees the views go up he starts to speak
“Hi guys, its me kodzuken and today I’m here on stream with my beautiful girlfriend and today I want to say..” he turns to you “Y/N im so sorry for the horrible things I said to you that day... I was just being a dick and I’m sorry I really am.”
You look at the chat and you see some confusion and some people recalling his words from last month. “It’s fine Kenma, I forgive you” you say giving him a hug”
“Okay Y/N, so what do you say... wanna beat my ass at bed wars?” He says with a smirk
“When have I ever loss?” you return his smirk
Of course you did beat his ass as bed wars for rounds on rounds never losing proving yourself to actually be a good gamer girl. You enjoyed your time with Kenma, forgetting what he said before about you and moving on.
Eventually, you guys moved in together and streamed together all the time and yes you still do play for fun but you’ve gotten way better at COD (some may say better then Kenma) but who is better didn’t matter to any of you, as long as you got to play together that’s all you both cared about.
Tumblr media
Kuroo:
Kuroo and you have been together since you were in your first year of high school
You met as friends first when you got him to tutor you in chemistry ( a subject you still aren’t that good at.)
Now you have your upcoming entrance exams for university in a month so your school has you doing mock exams in preparation for them.
20%
You look down at your chemistry paper that your teacher just handed you. 20%. You’re surprised, very surprised since out of all your subjects (that you go 90+% on) you studied on the chemistry test the hardest ensuring Testurou, that you didn’t need his help at all. But I guess it turns out, you did.
This failing mock grade put a blunder on your day, you didn’t interact with anyone and didn’t want to see your boyfriend so you skipped your usual routine of meeting him on the rooftop and went to the library instead ‘might aswell start early on your studying’ you thought.
As you were going over your chemistry topics, you hear an ‘ahem’ next to you and you turn your head only to find your boyfriend and his friends next to you. Kuroo with his usual goofy smile on his face.
“Hey kitten where were you at lunch?” he asked
“Needed to go to the library, Chemistry is kicking my ass” you mumbled
“Oya” he said as he noticed your chemistry test laying under your textbook “20%, well damn Y/N I knew you were stupid, but I didn’t know you were that stupid” he laughed doing his stupid usual hyena-like laugh.
Ouch well that hurt. You slightly flinched at his words, “Really your name, you didn’t know the molecular formula for ethanol, that’s first year work” he said continuing to laugh “I’m pretty sure that’s one of the first things I tutored you on when we first met”
His overbearing laughter was not good for you, you were already having a bad day and yes you do know your not that good at chemistry but you didn’t need your chemistry-enthusiast boyfriend to make fun of you for failing. Kenma and Yaku stood there awkwardly obviously aware of how bad Kuroo is making you feel but they didn’t really know how to stop his friend in the moment.Whilst he’s still dying of laughter you decide to pack up your stuff and leave the library.
You managed to get your Chemistry tutor to let you retake your mock paper in a week so that means, extra hard studying with no distractions you definitely can’t fail again. Since studying on your own was definitely not a good option, and you couldn’t go to Kuroo (especially after he ridiculed you) you decided to ask the second smartest person you know to tutor you.
Y/N: Hey Yaku! Can I ask you a favour?
Yaku: Hi Y/N what do you need??
Y/N: I have my chemistry retake next week, and as you know from your loud-loud friend I failed my recent test so can you tutor me??
Y/N: Pleaseeee
Yaku: Ok Y/N why can’t you ask Kuroo you know that he’d be more than happy to help
Y/N: Yakuu pleasee just help me out
So there you was, nearly a week done with your study sessions with Yaku and you’re feeling way more confident than before.
“Y/N what is the functional group of a Carboxylic Acid” Yaku asked
“umm... COO?”
“Great! that’s correct Y/N” he praises i dont actually know if it’s correct or not
You then hear a knock at Yaku’s front door and hear his mum let the person in, Kuroo then enters Yaku’s bedroom with shock plastered on his face surprised to see you here.
“Y/N...hey?” he says confused “what are you doing here?”
“Oh Mori-chan is just helping me with chemistry for my retake tommorow” you say nochalantly internally smiling at the twinge in Kuroo’s face at the purposeful use of Yaku’s first name.
“So why didn’t you ask me to help you know I’m a chemistry whiz” he asks
“Maybe I’m too stupid to be taught under your tutelage” you mumble “since I seem to forget whatever you teach me, even when it’s 3 years ago... but ok”
“Y/N I-” he starts
“Oh save it Kuroo, I have studying to do” you say cutting him off
“But I-” he tries
“So Mori-chan COOH is the function group of ethyl ethonate right?” you ask ignoring your boyfriend who is now at a lost for words
“ummm yeah it is” says yaku who is clearly feeling heavily awkward at the tension in his bedroom.
Kuroo leaves and you and yaku finish off the studying for the night, you did feel a little bad for being a bit mean to Kuroo but it’s karma for him being a dick to you.
You wake up the next day ready for your exam which was first thing in the morning, before you hand in your phone you see a message from Kuroo,
Kuroo: I know you’re still mad at me, but I think you’re going to do so well on this test. You’re not stupid at all, you’re really smart and I love you < 3
Kuroo: Good luck Y/N
You don’t respond to the message but smile at the sincerity of it and thankful for the boost of confidence it gave you before you start your exam.
Finishing the exam with a smile, you were confident you did well as everything you and Yaku went over was on the paper and you’re almost certain you atleast got more than 75%. You have to wait an hour before your teacher can give you your results, so in the meantime you might aswell reconcile with Kuroo.
When you exit the classroom, standing there was Kuroo who seemed to have been waiting for you for the whole duration of the exam.
“So how was it?” Kuroo asked, apprenhensive as he assumed you would just ignore him like you did at Yaku’s house.
“It was fine, I think it went alright..” you say
“Kuroo”
“Y/N”
You say simultaneously, he pauses for a second to let you speak “I’m sorry I was being so stand offish when we were at Yaku’s I just wanted you to see I could do it on my own, and when you called me stupid I really took that to heart since you and I both know that Chemistry wasn’t ever my best subject”
“I’m sorry too, I didn’t mean to make you feel bad, and since it was only a practice test I didn’t think you’d take it to heart but I am sorry I know you aren’t stupid.”
Before you got to say anything else, your Chemistry teacher exited the room with your chemistry paper in hand. Kuroo grabbed your hand anticipating your nerves and gave it a gentle squeeze.
“Miss L/N” said your teacher “Well done on your chemistry test” he turned your test around to sure a perfect 100%. Both you and Kuroo gasped, you were elated to say the least you wanted to jump up and down in excitement but a PERFECT 100%.
“I’d also like to add that you have now got the top chemistry score in the school beating the previous title holder Kuroo Testurou” said your teacher, this made Kuroo open his mouth even wider in surprise nearly making you giggle at his response.
Your teacher took his leave, leaving you and Kuroo in the hallway “ I guess i’m the chemistry whizz now “ you say wiggling your eyebrows just as Kuroo did to you before at Yaku’s this made him chuckle as he came to put his arm around you.
“Y/N don’t get ahead of yourself now, you may have won this battle but I will win the war” he said smiling
In the final exam, you continue your winning streak also getting a near 100% and still beating Kuroo which didn’t matter to either of you, now you’re just like him cracking chemistry puns and jokes all the time which none of your friends appreciated but atleast Kuroo found them SODIUM funny.
AN: Please kill me for the last line of Kuroos, I didn’t really like Kuroo’s since it was a bit self indulgent with my hate for chemistry but what do you guys think?

A/N: I hope you all enjoy part 3/4 of my pieces for the second day of the anniversary collab for the @konoblog-simps. You can find all the lovely pieces for the day here! Today’s theme is angst and we’re gonna feel some sadness with Kuroo. Prepare your hearts for these pieces, lovelies. My last piece will be out in a couple of hours. You can find all the days of the collab here!
Pairing: Tetsurou Kuroo x fem!Reader
Warnings: angst, car accident, fluff, reader in accident
Word Count: 1.2k
The loud ringing of his phone woke him from the sleep that he had so badly needed. Lately, life had been nothing but working overtime and practicing with the team. He glanced at the alarm clock and read the time. Was it really that late already? 11 am flashed in red LED as he grabbed his phone from the nightstand.
Kuroo didn’t recognize the number so he hesitantly rolled to the side, half expecting to see your body lying next to his own. He shook off the weird feeling in his head and accepted the phone call. “Hello?”
As he waited for the person on the other end to answer he noticed the note that was lying on your pillow.
Tetsu,
I ran to the store to get us something nice for breakfast and to make a coffee run. Be back soon!
Y/n
The voice on the other end asked for him. “I’m looking for Tetsurou Kuroo?”
Kuroo pushed the blankets back and began to climb out of bed. “You’ve got him.”
The voice continued, but as they got further and further into their words he felt his blood run cold. “I’m calling from (hospital name), I have a Y/n L/n here. She was in a car accident and you’re listed as the emergency contact. We’re going to need you to come down to the emergency room. We’ve can’t disclose any more information over the phone.”
His heart began to beat out of his chest as he listened. He opened his mouth to speak back, but the words wouldn’t come out.
“Sir, are you still there?”
When his words finally came out he had surprised himself. “I’ll be right there.”
As he ended the call he knew something terrible had happened. If you hadn’t been too injured you would have called him yourself, you would have insisted that you be the one to call him. That’s how you always were. As he stood still in the bedroom there was a thud on the floor in front of him, he hadn’t even realized that his phone had slipped from his grip.
Kuroo bent down and picked it back up, a crack now running from one side to the other. The screen lit up and the picture he kept of the two of you on the front flashed for him. He unlocked it and dialed the number of the one person that he knew would drop everything and get to him.
“Hey, hey, hey! What’s up Kuroo?”
* * * * * *
The drive to the hospital had felt like it was never going to end, despite how fast Bokuto had been driving them. He could feel his friends hurt and worry and wanted to get him to where he needed to be as quickly as possible.
As the car parked Kuroo had barely waited for the ignition to die. He jumped from the car with his best friend in tow and made his way to the front desk. People stared as they came running in, Bokuto apologizing softly to the people that had been cut off in Kuroo’s hurry. His hands slammed on the desk in front of the young girl and his voice was full of anxiety. “I’m Testurou Kuroo, I got a call about my girlfriend being in an accident.”
The young girl gave him a soft look and motioned behind her. “Please take a seat, I’ll go and get the doctor for you.”
As she walked away Kuroo held his head in his hands, Bokuto’s large hand grasping at his shoulder. “Hang in there, man. We’re gonna figure this out.”
His friend’s kind words made him feel a little better, but not nearly enough to dull the pain in his heart. The sound of an unfamiliar voice saying his name made him snap to attention. “Tetsurou Kuroo?” He looked into the face of a man in a white doctor’s coat, Boktuo right by his side as he made his way to him. “Come with me, we’ll talk in private.”
Kuroo’s heart started to beat out of his chest again, threatening to barrel up his throat at any moment. The hallways around him felt like they were going to close in on him, and that’s when they reached a room with a giant glass window, curtains open as he peered at you lying in a hospital bed.
The doctor started talking, but Kuroo was only half listening. “She’s still unconscious right now. She’s got some cuts and bruises, maybe a few broken ribs and a wrist fracture, but we’ll know more of the extent of injuries when she finally wakes up.”
Kuroo’s hearing had nearly gone out the window as he reached for the door handle to your room. Bokuto attempted to grab him, but it was futile as he barged his way in. Bokuto turned back to the doctor and spoke. “Just tell me what’s going on. I’ll fill him in for you. He’s gonna need a minute.”
The doctor continued, his voice was muffled by the walls of the room as Kuroo approached your body. He pulled a chair next to your bed and sat down, taking your hand in his own and squeezing his eyes shut tightly. Don’t let them see this. They can’t see you cry.
As Bokuto entered he cleared his throat. “Just keep your head up. Think positive thoughts even though I know how hard that is.”
Kuroo looked back up from the bed and Bokuto noticed the streak marks that now trailed on his cheeks. “What if she doesn’t wake up?”
Bokuto walked closer to his friend and grabbed the front of his shirt. “Don’t you dare say that.” Kuroo’s expression changed as he looked into his friend’s eyes. “If you say that then who else is there to hold out hope for her?”
Pangs of guilt now attacked him as he broke Bokuto’s grasp on his shirt. “You’re right. I’m sorry.” Kuroo laid his head on the bed beside you and grasped your hand tighter. “She’ll wake up. I know she will.”
Bokuto took his place in a chair across the room and watched as stress and exhaustion took over his friend’s body and let him drift off to sleep. As hours passed he left a note on the chair he had sat in and headed down to the cafeteria for a late lunch.
The sound of a small voice and the feeling of a hand in his hair had woken him. “Tetsu?”
As he realized that the voice had been the only one he had wanted to hear for hours he jolted from the bed. Your eyes were soft as you stared back at him. “Baby!” Kuroo nearly jumped onto the bed, wrapping you into his arms. “You’re okay. I was so worried.”
Your voice was weak as you reassured him. “I’m not going anywhere that soon. We haven’t lived our life together yet.”
His laugh was nervous as he gripped onto you tighter. “We’re gonna live every day together, my love. Don’t you worry about that.”

Maybe you should've disagreed on the 10th time or maybe the 8th or 11th?
Honestly, there was no stopping the couple of the year.
"She didn't really say yes at first but with a little push of love she finally did." Kuroo comments, a drink in hand as you smiled against his side, with his arm around you.
"Please, I didn't need a push. I was too in love with the dumbass to say no." Your relatives practically awe at your comment while Kuroo kisses the top of your head, as you smile to sell the deal.
"What are you guys planning on after you graduate? I hope you two continue to stay like this." One of your relatives says as you both recall the plan.
"Moving in doesn't sound so bad, right babe?" He asks you while you sip your drink, feeling his hand slide down to your waist while they cheer at his dialogue.
"I wish young love looked like this when I had it!"
"Y/N is so lucky!"
"Tetsu is the best man for Y/N!"
Sighing with pain to your gums, you spoke.
"Excuse me, I'm just going to refill my drink. Coming babe?"
"Of course, bub." He says before excusing himself as well, while he walks away, his hand loses contact with your waist knowing there wasn't a sight of anyone else in the kitchen apart from you and him.
And cut.
"I thought our fourth line was that we would take things slow—what you said was literally our fifth line, Tetsu. It's too early." You say as you actually refilled your cup as Kuroo sighs but he smiles, leaning on the wall looking at you.
"Well might as well go all out, I'm not an actor for nothing, babe." You sigh as you drank as Kuroo pats your hair, after a sip, you let out a chuckle.
"Actually, their reactions were everything." You say as Kuroo smiles before setting down the cup on the table.
"Did you see your grandmother? She's going to beg you to wear her wedding dress now." He jokes while you shake your head, denying the offer.
You introduced your relatives to him last year, he was thankful that you trusted him this well to get this far in your family. You hated how they fell into this little trap of yours but it was still entertaining to see them act like this, even if guilt trailed alongside it.
"Seriously, do we go over line 5 now?" You asked with a slight smirk as Kuroo intertwined his hands with yours, with the other ready to open the door.
"We'll see how our audience reacts first, babe."
-
"You did not— you guys are taking this too far. How are you feeling?" Yaku asks through the phone as you bit down on your finger as you tried to come up with another excuse to why you keep allowing yourself in this position.
"I'm fine Yaku seriously! Me and Kuroo are staying at this hotel because of the whole family event earlier." You ran a hand through your hair, feeling the stress set in that you were actually sleeping in the same room as him.
This faux relationship has never led to this point. Kuroo has asked you for permission in case he were to kiss your cheek, hand, or forehead and you allowed yourself every time because this is what you got yourself into in the first place.
You agreed because it didn't bring your heart leaps of excitement—not even a sight of a butterfly in your system.
No matter how many times he's held your hand or planted a kiss on your temple, it didn't feel like Cupids touch— the arrows of love purposely hitting you in the wrong places. You initially thought that it was actually risky, to find yourself falling sooner than expected but a year into this 'relationship' you actually enjoyed the experience without having your heart miss a beat because of it all.
Your bond with Kuroo can only be described by the words bickering and platonic. Because of the way you interact with each other and how you constantly visit each others places, everyone could see where this friendship could end up so you took this advantage just for people to avoid the both of you which turns out to be the opposite, now everyone wanted to dig themselves in the news that you actually got together.
"Y/N- Kuroo please explain your work here on the table." You had your experiment carefully in your hands as Kuroo guides you to the table as you went on with your explanation. The teacher was well impressed with the two of you with how prepared you are, you can thank Kuroo for that and your ability to act like you've got your shit together.
"This is why we-" You two said it in sync making the two of you stare at each other as Kuroo chuckles continuing the explanation while you were left to stay silent with the glares from the girls who admired him—and the boys who liked you sent their threats to Kuroo just by glancing at him.
"Thank you, good job you two. I see that chemistry suits the both of you." Your teacher comments and as you walked away you rolled your eyes, disgusted at the corny joke.
"It's working too well actually."
Someone shut him up. You think as you felt the urge to give him a punch to shoulder. Kuroo was dragging more attention to the two of you and you hated it. You knew they were all jokes from your classmates but Kuroo kept feeding and responding to these claims, now you were the center of curiosity.
"Tetsu, I will shove a foot down your throat." You threatened when you were back to your chairs he shrugged making you more irritated.
"It shut them up didn't they? Let's fake it instead." He suggests, now making you slap his arm but his smirk remained on his lips.
"Dumbass, we'd be surrounded with questions and attention- I hate this idea already."
"What about the free couple food and drinks at the mall? You don't wanna experience that?"
"You are not using that card on me, Tetsurou." You said pouting as your chemistry teacher sends a suspicious eye to the both of you, also signalling for you two to stay quiet.
"I know you and you know me well enough that this isn't gonna lead into an actual relationship plus my dad has been bugging me about a girlfriend for weeks." You sigh as Kuroo extends his hand to you, to finalize this outrageous deal.
Looking at where you are now, you wouldn't have it any other way even if it was odd to fake date your best friend. You wouldn't agree if you didn't trust Kuroo to an extent. He would never do anything that makes you uncomfortable, he dragged you into this so he was always careful with his actions. It was always your feelings before his even if his jokes didn't show it.
Kuroo enters the room with a yawn just as you ended the call with Yaku. You patted the space next to you as he plops down on the bed, his head on your lap as you ran your hair through his dark locks.
"Is my boyfriend exhausted from the attention?" You asked him with a giggle as he closes his eyes, in a trance at your fingers doing him magic as you continued.
"Isn't that the girlfriends job to comfort me?" He says, making you smile. There really wasn't any meaning to his words, you were glad that the two of you were sure that everything is a joke. If not, then maybe you two are absolutely fucked.
"Is it okay for you to sleep here? I can always drive us home if you want." You shake your head no as you leaned your back in the soft pillow, relaxing a bit.
" 'S fine, Tetsu. Looks like we're gonna have to sleep here for a while huh?" He sighs before sitting up and leaning on a pillow as well before planting his head on your shoulder, his hand comfortably resting on your knee. It was a habit he had whenever he comforted you in your sorrow but it grew when he does it under the table when you sat next to each other.
Kuroo denies that he's doing this because he just wants to feel close to you. He may be in a sea of people but if he holds onto you, he forgets them in a second. There's always a possibility for him to feel lonely in a crowd but this feeling washes away when he has a chance to feel you around him.
"Tell me if somethings wrong yeah?" He says softly as you nod and he leans to your body more, feeling drowsy at the warmth you gave.
"I do find you annoying, that's a problem right there." You joke as he rolls his eyes and pulling away from you and transferring to the right side of the bed.
"Good night then." He says stubbornly, covering his ears with the pillow while you laugh before going to the right side and drowning in the blankets.
"Night, Kuroo." You bid him as you turn off the lights.
-
The next morning you really wished you didn't give in to him.
Tangled in each others arms, the blankets scattered everywhere as Kuroo was snuggled into your neck when you woke up. It's difficult to move without worrying about him waking up, so you had to move little by little. First, you slowly remove his arm that was on your waist. Second, you tried to rest his head on the pillow instead of you. Third, you scurry away from him successfully.
All of these were disregarded when he pulls you back into his arms, mumbling something while you mentally groan. Kuroos fingers continued to gaze itself on your skin while you sighed, accepting it as it is.
"Tetsu-"
"Five minutes." He whispers not minding the state he's in. He moves away from you when he realizes the sleepiness in him has faded. He stretches, making you stand up and fix your appreance. He sits up after a few seconds and you turn to look at him and his bed hair which never fails to make you laugh.
"I don't allow bullying this early." He says as he throws on a proper shirt. You decided to fix the bed while he brushes his teeth.
"Tonight's the party right?" You asked him as he nods before spitting out the residue of the toothpaste. You went through your bag plotting out the outfits you could wear later. The event was a wedding week of your relatives and it was also an opportunity to set out your weekly episode of a relationship.
It's currently Saturday and the wedding is tomorrow. Tonight was basically a party for both sides of the family. One for the bride and one for the groom. You gave Kuroo a fair warning about their traits when they were drunk but you guys are third years—you've seen how people acted when they were intoxicated.
"Should we just drop line 6?" He jokes, making you throw a pillow directly to his face.
Let's do a role call on these lines.
Line 1 was the backstory of your lovestory. Silly as it may come to others, all these excellent lies were planned beforehand. Each and every one of them. To the date where you confessed, to the exact details on each memory, to the date you officially started dating and of course it included the story that Kuroo has told one too many times already, like a script he remembers with no trace of mistake.
Line 2 were the filler memories. Random come ups of dates and embarrassing stories to grab their attentions in each gathering. Though, this line is the most truthful then the rest. Some of these stories are actually true to life but those that are too romantically disgusting? You can thank your imaginations for that.
Line 3 is the talk of seriousness. Love has actually blossomed by then. It consisted of stories of who said "I love you" first and who actually fell first in the relationship. Mentions of what moment made them realize how in love you were and precious memories that could make everyone long for a companion like yours.
Line 4 is fake maturity at its finest. Why not look like the perfect couple there is to exist? This was sort of a pit stop in your 'relationship'. This is where Kuroo narrows down the pace of you two by throwing some lines like "We're too young to decide for something that big." And "We never know what happens in the future."
Line 5 is moving in with each other. God, you even looked for proper apartments just so you don't mess up a question. You were graduating after all so it was inescapable to talk about your upcoming plans together.
Line 6 shouldn't be used. That's talks of marriage and god— adulting. You two inserted this line as a mere joke knowing once you've gone through college, all these lines would simply disappear because they could never ask about you two anymore. If parents loved something about couples, it's the talk of marriage. Luckily, you and Kuroo hate the topic and simply agreed that this should be avoided at all costs.
"Never." You say as he hands you the pillow you threw before setting it back on the bed. You share a look to each other while you head out of your room to meet with his family.
Hours later, you got distracted in the sensation of his hands intertwined with yours.
Kuroo has subconsciously done it again. Underneath the table, swiping his thumb on the palm of your hand while his expression doesn't even show the slightest bit of interest in what he's doing below. Occasionally, Kuroo would send you a text on how boring the conversation was going so you'd bring up a topic for the both of you.
"You ok?" He asks while you smile at him before leaning your head on his shoulder, suddenly exhausted with wondering about him.
"I'm fine, babe." You say while he forgets the noise in the background. The nickname slipping of your lips so easily, even when you didn't need to call him that.
"Wanna go back to our room?" That was what you wanted anyway but was it rude to walk out of gatherings like this?
"Is that fine with you?" You asked looking up to meet his eyes.
"As long as your okay." He says, making your heart give out a pocket of panic.
You stood up with him following behind you. He was genuinely concerned with you so he catches up to you, slinging his arm around your shoulder bringing you close to him.
"Thanks, Tetsu." You bid him as he opens the door for you. You lied down on the bed as Kuroo sits beside you.
"You sure you're okay? I can tell them that you can't attend the party if you're sick."
"I just got really bored and distracted back there. I'm sorry if I made you worry." Kuroo flicks your forehead with his finger making you say "ow."
"Stop saying sorry, dumbass. You're my priority either way."
Stop. No. Never, remember? You think to yourself.
"Is it because I'm your 'girl?' "
"You've always been my girl, what are you talking about?" He says raising an eyebrow at you while you hit him with a pillow, confused to why your cheeks became warm at his statement.
"Oi, what was that for!" He says before throwing a pillow at you as an act of revenge. Still flushed from earlier, you threw another pillow at him. You couldn't even respond to him without telling your heart to calm down.
"You know what? Let's just watch a movie to pass some time." You suggested taking your laptop while Kuroo stares at you, bewildered at how swift your mood changes.
"Women confuse me. Especially you, god- you remind me of Bokuto. Now scooch over, lady."
-
I really am lucky.
Kuroo thinks to himself while he watches you twirl around the mirror for the 5th time just to temporarily assure your insecurities.
Your outfit fits you like a glove. Hugging every curve of your body, the fabric decorating you with its design. Shades of dark colors on your eyes and a tempting lip color that drives Kuroo insane with this new found thought.
"Before you can ask me, you look amazing Y/N- I don't think that's enough to describe how you look tonight." He says, almost out of breath. You quickly get flustered, turning to notice his outfit. Eyes daring up and down, taking in every bit of the stunning middle blocker.
"Hopefully I can remind you that my eyes are up here." He takes a step towards you, inches away from your nose as he studies your appearance. You just stand out, like a star blinding him. Dangerous as it is, he stares the longest at your lips.
"Y/N? Honey, our ride is here! Tell Kuroo that the guys are looking for him as well!" Your aunt shouts making Kuroo step back, not wanting a problem to surface upon the deal.
"We can meet here at 10pm if you ever feel bored okay?" You nod at him as he places a kiss on your forehead.
"Noted." You said smiling at him, you honestly forgot to thank him for the compliment but the way your eyes danced around him gave him an answer already.
"I'll see you in a bit."
-
Kuroo feels the need to step out of this party. It wasn't like he didn't enjoy the stories of your uncles but this wasn't a circle he could fit into. Sure, the karaoke was humourous to watch but there was a need for him to be alone with you instead.
So, he dials your phone.
"Kuroo? What is it?" You asked him, escaping the noise of your aunties laughing as you went to the balcony.
"Just checking in on you, you good?"
"Is this a signal that you wanna leave babe?" You said chuckling, Kuroo smiles while he stands up to meet with your relatives to bid them goodbye.
"Sadly, yes and you?"
"I'll be there."
Few minutes passed as Kuroo got to your location. He couldn't allow you to commute when you looked that stunning, he was there to keep you safe at all times so you spent your time with silence in a cab back to the hotel. Kuroo didn't wanna talk about the party because he felt too drained to do it.
He takes his jacket and places it on your shoulders while you pull them closer to your body.
You two were seated on the bed while Kuroo removes your heels and setting them on the floor next to your other pairs of shoes. After removing them, you travel to the kitchen and sit on the sink as you drank water. Kuroo follows you with him beside you, leaning on it.
Why is it so quiet? You wondered.
Usually, Kuroo would make remarks or just bring up a conversation with you but you two just sat there with thoughts lingering around each other. While you set down the glass, Kuroo sets himself between your legs making your eyes widen while he sets his hands on either side your hip.
"What's on your mind? You do know that your silence is too loud for me." He says stroking your sides, making you trapped in a heated moment.
"Tetsu-"
"You've been off all morning. What's going on, Y/N?" He asks with sincerity. Ever since breakfast, all he's noticed is how your eyes never dared to stare back at his. How fidgety you were with his hand in yours, the way you'd gaze off into a state of thinking for a few seconds and your hands would feel cold compared to his.
"I- I don't know." You said honestly. There was a block in your mind and your heart. You couldn't notice how you were acting because there's a certain discussion that you unintentionally avoid. Was it the panic Kuroo set your heart in? Is it the way his skin on yours makes you wanna melt?
Was it the butterfly fluttering in you when he said you were his?
"Maybe you're just falling in love with me." Kuroo whispers leaning his face close to yours. God, he was joking. He should be but with his body moving without his system functioning before his orders, he was doomed already.
Unexpectedly, you leaned closer.
You could feel how Kuroo held his hand firmer to your hip while he continues to take away the centimeters in the space you had left. Tilting his head, his lips were impeccably close to yours, threatening you with how you wished they'd be on you already.
But what if I am?
"Isn't that part of the game?" You whispered back, as he steps away. The moment washes over him making his knees almost give out at what he just wanted to do. You sighed as he walks away, leaving you stranded in a pool of questionable feelings.
Your hearts were screaming. What foolishness did you insert yourself in? Kuroo felt like he shouldn't have walked away and chose the fatal move by kissing you the way he always wanted to do but he had to avoid the tightening of his chest.
No one can win in a battle of temptations, especially when your lips were calling his name.
You removed yourself from the sink while you entered your shared bed seeing Kuroo tucked in the sheets, obviously hiding.
You hopped on the either side of the bed with a sigh as you tried to silence out the voices in your head.
I don't want to be in this with you anymore.
-
It wasn't a surprise to see the left side of the bed empty. The moment you woke up, the both of you weren't ready to converse what happened last night, especially the middle blocker. It was his move and you couldn't even manage to move on your own after it. Now what surrounds the room is unresolved tension.
You finally got out of bed, stepping into the bathroom to brush your teeth, locking the door to leave you at peace with your mind. You decided to take a shower knowing the time of the wedding.
Kuroo comes back from grabbing your breakfast. He sees the impact of what happened last night. It was his fault for leaving without explanation now he has to endure the coldness of it all.
He hears the water running so he leans his forehead on the door, his heart wanting nothing more then for everything to be the way it was before.
"If only you knew." He whispers before gathering his tux for the event, sighing to himself.
When you walk out with a towel on, hair dripping droplets, he turns away immediately while you felt the frustration grew in how he was acting.
During your shower, you chose to base your actions with your brain instead of your heart. It can never lead you to proper decisions. Kuroo was making the situation worse—you had expected him to act like nothing happened the next day, maybe then things would have been easier.
"Have you eaten breakfast?" You asked him while he gives you a nod.
Speak to me please.
"I'll go get ready then." There was no point in hoping for a response from him and you grew tired because of it.
His mouth couldn't agree with his mind. He was caught up on if he wanted to apologize or act like nothing happened. He couldn't read your emotions properly even if he feels like he should 'cause if not then this going to grow into something you could both hate.
He's in between of thinking if you want things to be 'normal' or if you want some sort of explanation from him. He also feels like you'd escape the conversation seeing that you leaned in as well, which surprised him. He just can't face it, he can't bring up the words to express how right it felt even if it was wrong.
Still, both ways has his heart still long for you. The regret hasn't died in his body and he wishes it would.
"What time do you think they'll take us to the venue?" Your voice makes him awake somehow, he turns to see applying your makeup in the dress that the bride suggested you'd wear. Just like yesterday, he was struck again. The way the white stood out with the faint details of the dress had you glow like a star he wishes on.
"I don't know." He responds, he fell short on his words and there was still a clear state of hesitation that follows him.
You were fueled by him, yet this fire couldn't be held back.
Kuroo sees the way you drop the brush, leaving a sound echo through the silence he made, the way your heels clicked when you walked right up to him, a weak feeling setting in him knowing your stare was digging holes in his head as he looks at you.
"I think you're forgetting that you moved first."
You say, making him sweat under the confrontation but you let your words show how he managed to place your heart in your hands.
"So why act like we didn't want the same thing?"
You had him stunned. There weren't proper thoughts that ran in his mind, some parts of him still bringing him back to what happened last night and the other wanted to look into the future which was looking unsteady.
"We wouldn't want to ruin our deal, right?" His tone was laced with a threat. He couldn't even set his decisions right. Just blurting out words he thought was enough for the both of you.
"Kuroo, that wasn't an act." You argued making him crumble with another mistake in his response. You both felt it and there wasn't a way to act all blind to it. You were aware and admitted it to him face to face. That was the confirmation he needed to get his heart removed from its knots.
"Y/N-"
You step closer to him, a firm finger on his chest while your eyes stayed on
"If the show is more important to you, then let's call it like nothing happened."
While you give a push to his chest, you turned your back to him hoping it'd make him walk to you and tell you his genuine feelings.
But your heels lead you away from him and his feet remained glued to the floor.
-
They say weddings brought people together to celebrate love.
That is- the love that circled between you two is an experiment you'll never understand.
As you went to the wedding, everyone looked at this perfect couple who radiated silent rage with each other.
Kuroo feels the sting in his heart when you were forced to hold his hand and stick around him. Your voice portrayed it so easily- like this role of being his girlfriend was a reflex, something that you know by the back of the hand.
Meanwhile, he's forgotten his lines.
His expressions, the nicknames guardedly falling off his lips, the shaking hands that roamed around your waist, he was falling apart.
Suddenly, forgetting his role and searching for the script of reality.
Everyone can see it. The way you smiled and tried to avoid questions of why you both seems so close but feel so distant with each other. You'd laugh it off or change the topic to the lovely couple instead, even the bride could sense it.
While the ceremony begins, Kuroo couldn't stop looking at your direction. How could he not when his eyes loved the sight of you? Disregarding the tone of your voice earlier that scared the wits out of him, the way you strutted in that dress of yours still had his heart held captive.
Meanwhile, you kept your eyes busy by trying to focus on the couple. If you didn't control yourself, you would drown in him. Did that tux really have to be perfect in him? The way his hair was actually swept back with gel, exposing a new level of attraction for you.
For a second, Kuroo looks away knowing you'd never look his way the same way again.
And Cupid was sure to hit you right this time.
"Honey, you've shown me love in ways I never knew you could do. At first, I was scared. You know me- love is a deadly road but you drove me to the safest place. Love is scary but with you— I'm willing to fear it as long as I'm yours." The bride vows making some of your relatives form tears in their eyes at the beautiful choice of words.
You bit your lip, finding it ironic how it fits you. You were sure as hell scared. Knowing Kuroo and having to experience a bond with him and it could all end because of a mere kiss. You weren't ready to lose, both in love and in this level of fate.
"I've never said it before but I was scared too. It doesn't show- I know. Losing you is something that haunts me for the rest of my life, it's cliche but what's love without you? Even if I'm having some trouble in saying it, I love you and I don't think I can ever lie about that." The groom says while the bride wipes away her tears, fanning her eyes.
Didn't that just took the words right out of Kuroo?
He gulps, looking at you as you also turned to look at him. An antsy feeling settling in your bodies, the number of butterflies swarming around you was increasing with every word that replays in your minds.
Minutes pass as the newly married couple kiss, making you both awaken at the sound of cheers from your relatives. You stood up from your seat, joining the crowd as they watch the two walk down the path smiling at each other.
Kuroo was on the other side, joined by your male relatives while you were on the side with your aunties. Both of you were tremendously nervous. You decided to avert your eyes on the bride as she readies herself to thow the boquet of bright flowers.
You sighed as you decided to walk away but destiny tugs on your motives.
Time slows down as the boquet thrown in the air was circling around while they all watched on whose lucky hands it lands on. They all tried to reach it, believing in the myth that surrounded it.
Dropping an item from your bag, you bent down to pick it up but what made your eyes widen was the sight of the fallen flowers in front of you and everyone that surrounded you, disappeared in your mind.
Picking it up slowly, the boquet resting in your hand as you admired each flower but your heart was struck like an arrow hittings its target point.
Kuroo held his breath, clenching his hands as he stood there.
Giving one last glance to the boquet, your eyes finally met Kuroos astounded ones and the world goes into a blur while he remained to stay focused in your line of sight.
Just like that, Cupid lands a bullseye to both hearts.

what else is out there
Tumblr media
pairing: bf!tetsurou kuroo x gn!reader (ft. yuuji terushima)
theme: university au
genre: angst
warnings: breaking up, swearing, underage drinking, smoking, mentions of drugs (weed), mentions of sex, possible cheating (you be the judge), brief making out
word count: 2.5k
a/n: hello!! this is the first angst i’ve ever written so i’m kind of nervous about posting it. but if i don’t write i’ll never improve!!! i would love any feedback or comments in general :’)
b/f/n = best friend’s name; terushima will be referred to as yuuji given western culture;
music: i don’t have a specific song but i recommend any lewis capaldi song!
summary: as your second year of university comes to a close, your 8th anniversary with tetsuro is right around the corner. despite attending university on the other side of the world, your relationship has never been stronger. everyone around you always tells you how lucky you are to have found “the one” so early on in life; how lucky you are to have such a committed and loving boyfriend. but what happens when a single question from a drunken classmate causes your relationship to fall into a downwards spiral?
Tumblr media
You glance at the clock on your phone for the nth time, uncertain why you were feeling so nervous. You mindlessly play with the silver ring on your ring finger; a gift from Tetsu. The day you were due to fly to America he had given you a promise ring to solidify your love for each other. The two of you had a plan; you’d finish your education at your respective universities and then you’d return to Japan to find and a job. Once you worked for a couple of years you’d finally get married, buy a house, have kids and spend the rest of your lives together.
Maybe you were just feeling anxious about your exam from last week. After all, you didn’t put much effort into studying as it was your last exam of the school year and all you wanted to do was let loose.
Or maybe it was what Yuuji had said to you the other night.
Three days ago
You weren’t usually the type to go to frat parties, but your best friend had been begging you to go with her all week, and for some reason you just couldn’t turn her down this time.
As you approached the frat house you noticed the unhealthy amount of people already wasted on the front lawn well before 10pm. You gripped your best friend’s hand as you walked through the door, the mixed smell of smoke, weed and alcohol instantly filled your lungs.
Together you ventured through the sea of college students towards the kitchen area hoping to find some more familiar faces.
“Y/N, B/F/N, over here!” you caught a glimpse of blonde hair, instantly recognizing him to be Yuuji Terushima. You weren’t extremely close but the two had many mutual friends so you interacted fairly often. Not to mention he was also from Japan so it was nice to also have someone to talk to about home once in awhile.
“I’m surprised to see you here Y/N I assumed you had to call your boyfriend or something.” At the time you weren’t sure if it was the fact that he was drunk, but the way he looked at you when he spoke made you feel uneasy.
Your best friend downed a shot before wagging a finger at the blonde hair boy, “shut UP, Yuuji, you’re just jealous that you can’t hold a relationship for longer than a month.”
Yuuji quickly held his hands out in defense, shaking his head, “nah, I’m just saying whenever we invite Y/N out they always say they have to study or call that they have to call their boyfriend. Since exams are over I just assumed.”
You pursed your lips, eyes darting between your circle of friends and the numerous shots scattered across the table. You took a deep breath before grabbing one of the shots, and downed it faster than your brain could process. The burning sensation in your throat was unfamiliar, almost painful, causing you to break out into a coughing fit.
Immediately another cup is pressed against your lips and as you drank the cool liquid, the bitter taste in your mouth is slowly washed away.
Yuuji gave your back a gentle pat, “Geez Y/N, first you’re at a frat party and now you’re downing vodka for the first time. Try not to lose all your firsts tonight, alright?”
“Hey, at least they don’t have to worry about losing their virginity still unlike some people.”
Howls and hoots erupted from all around but all you could think about was how red you must’ve looked. After all, what they had said about you wasn’t exactly true.
Yuuji noticed the troubled look on your face, a smirk spread across his own. He leaned in towards you, his lips gently pressed against your ear  “Y/N don’t tell me you’re a virgin?”
You whipped your head towards him, your embarrassment now replaced with annoyance, “Yuuji I don’t know who you think you are but that’s none of your business.”
Yuuji shrugged his shoulders, taking another gulp out of his solo cup before he glanced back at you. You had noticed it earlier but tried to shake it off as him being drunk, but it was definitely there. The look of longing and lust clouded his eyes. Before you could react, his arms planted themselves on either side of your body.
“Y/N don’t you ever wonder what else is out there?”
Tumblr media
Present
It’s well past your agreed call time with Tetsu, yet he hasn’t sent you any messages to tell you that he was going to be late or that he needed to reschedule. Unlocking your phone, you open your boyfriend’s contact info and press dial.
Ring, ring, ring. No response.
You click his number again, wondering where he could be. This was your usual weekly call time so it wasn’t like him to go missing. As your phone dials, you hear a familiar ring in the distance. You stay still as the ringing grows louder, it couldn’t be? You reach Tetsu’s voicemail once again so you hang up and the distant ringing also stops.
The silence in your apartment is cut by three quick knocks on your door. Dropping your phone on the kitchen table you rush to open the door, and on the other side is none other than your boyfriend.
“Tetsu!” you body automatically launches itself into his arms, his familiar scent filling your lungs. His grip on you is strong as he nuzzles himself into the crook of your neck.
“Hey baby, glad to know you missed me too.” the dark hair boy chuckles before setting you down, “so, are you going to invite me in or what?”
You grab his suitcase, gently shoving him inside, “I can’t believe you didn’t tell me you were coming.”
Your boyfriend lets out another hearty laugh before turning to flick your forehead, “well that’s the whole point of a surprise, dummy. Besides, it’s almost our 8th anniversary and I wanted to spend it with you in person rather than over a face time call.”
Stumbling back upon the impact you press your palms against your head, glaring up at the male in front of you. But before you get the chance to scold him, you’re shoved against the wall and his hands begin to roam your body before settling comfortably on your hips. For a moment the two of you say nothing, only basking in each others’ presence.
But the longer the two of you stare at each other, the more uncomfortable you feel yourself become. The initial shock and excitement of seeing him has already worn off. It’s been months since you last saw Tetsu, you should feel ecstatic that he’s here, but instead a tight feeling settles in your chest.
Your thoughts are interrupted by a familiar warmth against your lips. His lips move against yours frantically, as if you were going to disappear into thin air. Yet, no matter how hard you try, you can’t match his intensity.
Tetsu sighs against your lips before pulling away. He leans back slightly, eyes boring into you, “Y/N, what’s wrong?”
The question catches you off guard, “what do you mean? I’m fine.”
The tall male frowns at you, running a hand through his hair, “you’re not fine, you’ve been acting weird for the past couple of days and I want you to tell me what’s on your mind.”
You lower your head, eyes glued to the floor as you rub your palms against your pants. You try to calm yourself but it’s no use, you know the inevitable is coming and there’s no way around it.
You can’t help it, you try hard but your eyes betray you before you can say anything. The tears roll down your face onto the hardwood floors.
“I’m sorry Tetsu, I’m so sorry.”
Tetsu is taken by surprise at the appearance of your water works. He wraps his arms around you, pulling you into a tight embrace, “please baby, tell me what’s bothering you.”
Though he was the one that asked, he had a slight suspicion about what was going on. The last 3 days you hadn’t been responding to his text messages much. Asides from the time difference you took hours to respond and when you did your messages were only a couple of words long.  Yet you were always updating your social medias, showcasing delicious food or gorgeous scenery.
After a few minutes, he pulls away from you. His heart is pounding against his chest, and feels like the entire world is weighing down on his shoulders.
“Y/N do you want to break up with me?”
You slump to the ground, your whimpers slowly turn into loud sobs filling the space of your apartment. Why were you crying? You weren’t the one being dumped and yet here you were, blubbering like a child. Bringing the back of your hand to your face, you do your best to wipe away your tears and stable your breathing.
Slowly, you lift your head to look into the eyes of the man who’s heart you probably just ripped out. He bends down to meet your eyes and when you see his, they’re full of sadness, pain and betrayal.
“Y/N...why? Did I do something wrong? Is it because of something I said or something I did? I’m sorry if I did, you know I love you and that I never want to hurt you.”
You shake your head furiously, feeling your eyes start to well up again. You’re unsure how to answer, because you know Tetsu had done nothing wrong. In fact, he’s done everything right up until this point. He texts you good morning and night every day, and always pushes you to be your best self. He constantly tells you he loves you and why he’s thankful to have you in his life. So why exactly were you trying to break something that didn’t need to be broken?
“No Tetsu, you didn’t do anything. This is my problem, I-” you’re cut off by Tetsu’s hand making contact with the wall.
“Y/N don’t give me any form of that, “it’s not you it’s me bullshit” ‘cause I’m not buying it.”
You meet his eyes again but this time, they’re filled with pure rage. You try to press yourself against the wall more, but there’s no where left for you to go. You’re caged in between his arms, “you still haven’t answered me. Why?”
Running a shaky hand through his hair he barely makes out a whisper this time, “Is there someone else?”
You would never cheat on Tetsu, he was supposed to be the love of your life. Right? Your mind begins to flashes bits and pieces of the party from the other night. Countless shots for hours on end, laughing until your stomach hurt, and maybe a couple of innocent touches here and there. Stumbling up the stairs hand in hand, giggling like children. Waking up in a random bedroom, hair in disarray, half clothed and your limbs tangled up with a familiar blonde hair boy. You squeeze your eyes shut, shaking your head. You would never.
He hates himself for even bringing it up but he needs to know. All he needs is confirmation that no one else stands between the two of you. That way, maybe, just maybe you two could work things out. But he sees the way you tense up at his question. Your fingers curl and uncurl themselves and your eyes look anywhere but his.
Tetsu’s voice brings you back to reality, “Y/N is there someone else?”
Before you can say anything, your phone goes off. Tetsu pushes against the wall to stand up and heads towards the kitchen to where your phone is. You scramble after him, but it’s too late he already has your phone in your hand.
“So, Y/N, have you decided that you want to see what else is out there?”
As he finishes reading the text message, his voice cracks. The pain in his voice is unmistakable. He slumps onto the ground with a thud, your phone following suit. As you look down at him, his large frame has never looked so small to you before. He begins to shake, and this time it’s his sobs that fill your apartment.
Slowly, you shuffle towards him. You get onto your knees and reach out to wipe his tears away but he catches your hand before you can move any closer.
“8 years. I gave you 8 fucking years and this is what you do.” his breathing is laboured yet his words are cold and sharp.
You open your mouth to speak but he cuts you off again, “Y/N we had a plan. We were supposed to finish school, get married, buy a house, and have kids. We were supposed to be happy.”
You shake your head and try to explain, “Tetsu, I swear nothing happened, it’s just...” at this point were you trying to convince him or yourself?
He held up your left hand between the two of you, “just what? We made a promise to each other, remember? Does all of that mean nothing to you?”
You furrow your brows as your eyes begin to sting once more, “I know we did and I’m sorry. I can’t even express how sorry I am to you. You’ve given me so much these past 8 years. I never wanted to hurt you like this.” You burrow your face into your hands as your sobs become overwhelming.
He reaches out to cup your face in his hands, tilting your head upwards to look at him. His face is stained with tears, and the area around his eyes is red but for some reason he can’t bring himself to stay angry at you, “Y/N, please look at me.”
When you look into his eyes again, you can no longer read his expression.
“My love.” the sudden softness strikes a chord in your heart, was this really what you wanted? “This entire time you’ve only been saying how sorry are you. If you really want to leave me, you’ll have to tell me yourself.”
You place your hands on top of his, and squeeze your eyes shut, enjoying his warmth momentarily. Your mind glosses over the past 8 years you’ve shared together. You think about your first kiss, your first date, meeting each others’ parents for the first time. You think about how you attended all his volleyball games and how he would send a special hand signal to you every time he scored a point or blocked a spike. You think about how he ran onto the stage during your graduation ceremony to declare his undying love for you.
When you open your eyes, you find him staring intently back at you. His eyes are filled with so much love and hope. It’s almost as if he’s silently pleading for you to come to your senses. He hopes that you’ll realize that he is and has always been your happy ending. Yes he was hurting, but nothing would hurt more than you walking out of his life forever.
Your grip around his hands tighten as you lean forward to press your foreheads together.
“Testu, let’s break up.”

la querelle des coeurs. - kuroo, atsumu, daichi.
@luveranime sent a letter : ❝ Me again lmao 😂 could you do one where kuroo, atsumu and daichi’s s/o has a ex best friend and they try to take their bf away from their s/o but then their s/o like angrily lashes out? Then like a cute fluffy ending :) ❞
author’s letter : ❝ aaaaa, it’s always pleasure to see you in my inbox!! thank you so much for trusting me with all your prompts, it means the world. ooooh, i love myself some angst to fluff especially with kuroo. i hope you’ll enjoy your promised letter!
sealed with a kiss. sincerely yours, nikki. ❞
genre : kinda fluff, kinda angst. warnings : cursing, toxic friendship.
Tumblr media
Now, now, now, Kuroo like the gorgeous scorpio he is has some kind of sixth sense when it comes to lies, basically, you could consider him as a human lie detector. This talent of his extends to being able to discern people’s true nature- given that he is someone who doesn’t trust people easily, he’s even more careful around people he doesn’t deem as trustworthy.
Truth be told, he doesn’t come as a surprise to him when you tell him that you had a succession of arguments with your best friend, to the point where you felt obligated to cut ties with them.
You can tell from miles away that the sentence “I don’t want to say I told you so, but I told you so, kitten.” is burning the tip of his tongue, begging him to be set free so he could rub his pseudo sixth sense in your face.
From now on, Kuroo morphs into ‘super protective mode’, he just wants to protect you from any emotional harm, he knows how vicious your former best friend is, after all, he always knew.
He will walk with you everywhere, cradle you into his embrace if you feel the need to shed a couple of tears- he picks up the shattered pieces of your broken self and glues them one by one and seals them with a kiss or a heartfelt compliment.
After several days, Kuroo’s efforts and dedication to make you feel better finally sets in. Your introspection sunk in and you feel the aftereffects bloom- you feel fearless, powerful, and you came to agree with yourself on stating that you are indeed better off alone.
The plot twists in the hallways of your school- your arm is wrapped around Kuroo’s, just the way you like it. His orbs never leave you frame and anyone could tell how the gleam in his eyes reflect his love and adoration for you.
Needless to say, his favorite time of the day was when he could have lunch with you and listen to your ramblings while observing your divine traits. However, being academically smart doesn’t prevent him from being a airhead at times : “Kitten, I totally forgot to grab myself something to drink. Will you wait for me at our spot? I’ll be quick.” “You already know where to find me then, Tetsu.”
And with that, he leaves you in the middle of the hall (but not before planting a peck on your forehead.) On his way to the vending machine, he sees none other than your former best-friend, body leaning onto said vending machine, as if they were waiting for him to come out after witnessing your discussion.
The plain expression plastered upon Kuroo’s facial expression speaks louder than a thousand words revolving around the lexical field of anger. Nonetheless, he tells himself that if he ignores them, then there will be no harm done, unless...
“Hey there, Kuroo. I knew you’d miss me! Don’t worry, baby, I missed you just as much.”
The person you once called your best friend orientates their body in a strategic way so they’re closer to Kuroo, their whole body facing him. Of course, he didn’t miss the poor attempts to get him to pay attention to them. Their whole body language screamed ‘acknowledge me.’
Kuroo remained stoic and pushed the coins inside the vending machine instead. This lack of attention only emphasized their anger and in return, their level of patience diminished gradually. But they had another ace hidden in their sleeve, and this time, attitude matched their actions- your former best friend grabbed the hem of Kuroo’s collar while their other hand was planted at the back of his neck to force him to look on what they deemed as the only important person here.
“Kuroo, baby, I’m so glad you came to see me, because let’s face it : you’re only here because you know you’d see me here. Have you finally realized that Y/N was not good enough for you? You want a real significant other, don’t you?”
If hearing the sound of their voice was disgusting enough, imagine how filthy Kuroo felt when he sensed a foreign body throw themselves on him- his skin was burning under the poisoning touch of your former best friend.
Now, now. The ‘you’ topic was quite the sensitive one to Kuroo, given that he would and could put anyone in their place if he happened to hear a ill word about you. “I’m going to say this once : don’t play a game you can’t win so don’t say another thing about Y/N.”
Oh, but would this stop them? Absolutely not. Their hand travelled from the back of their neck to the muscular reliefs on his chest, an area only you had the luxury you to touch and worship. “Don’t be like that, Kuroo. I know I can touch you, love you and at least I won’t fake it like Y/N does.” they concluded their sentence with a wink sent his way and Kuroo could already feel the taste of vomit invading his tastebud.
In one sharp motion, he grabbed their wrist and yanked himself free of their intoxicating clutch. Just his luck, he thought, while your former best friend cursed silently under their breath as they saw you arrive.
“Tetsu, are you okay? What’s taking you so long?”
Oh and here it was, the pure grin which radiated nothing but pure mischief- your presence signed the end and what a beautiful ending it was for him. “Maybe you should ask them, kitten. They were rambling about how I should date them instead of you. Can you believe that bullshit?”
Your eyes darted onto a familiar frame, but just by glancing at them, you felt all the inner rage overwhelm you, including all the pain you had to go through. It was like facing your own nightmare, but you’ve never been alone to fight your battles- Kuroo has always been there by your side.
“You said what now?”
Your stare emanated nothing but pure and intense rage, your whole body language testified of your inner envy to make them choke on their own words.
“I said-...”
“If you think for a single second I’m going to let you talk, you’re dead wrong. You’ve been feeding me enough lies during all this time we were ‘friends’, and now, you’re throwing yourself on my man? You really have nothing for you, do you now? Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go grab lunch with my boyfriend. I’m not sure you’ve ever heard of him but his name is Kuroo Testurou, you know, the man you’ll never get?”
Kuroo couldn’t help but to let a snicker break free from his lips, this scene was wonderful to watch. An immense wave of pride washed over him, and it struck him again, he realized for the umpteenth time how lucky he was to share his life with you.
He wrapped his arm around your waist, tugging you close to his side and delivered a peck full of love upon the flesh of your cheek. “I didn’t know you had all of this hidden in you, kitten. Not gonna lie, it’s kinda hot.”
You playfully rolled your eyes and punched his arm as his words connected with your eardrums, “You’re so lucky I love you.”
“Don’t get it twisted, kitten, I’m lucky one here.”
“Are not.”
“Are too.”
“Are not.”
Tumblr media
It’s safe to say that Atsumu does have a reputation that follows him around, he his the local heartthrob of his school and he secretly takes pride in that. But nothing fills his heart with pride more than being able to call you his.
Being Atsumu’s girlfriend, you are indirectly exposed to threats, insults and other acerbic remarks coming from his fangirls. Sometimes these attacks are direct like dirty talks behind your back when you’re holding his hand in the middle of the halls, and other times, it’s more subtle and the perfect example of that is how the person you used to call your best friend took advantage of your relationship status to get closer to Atsumu.
They made it clear and had no shame hiding behind their shameful shenanigans, “Did you really think I was talking to you for your personality? Get real, Y/N, I don’t care about you. I only care about your man.”
These subtle shenanigans hurt the most because they were the most vicious and purposefully hurtful, and the worst part was that they had somehow managed to become friends with Atsumu. Emphasis on the word ‘somehow.’
As per usual after school, both you and Atsumu could be found at the gym, and oh boy, did he love being able to see you everyday- not only at school but also at the gym as you were the manager of the volleyball team.
However, this time, you had quite the surprise when you entered the gym. Kita had asked all the players to gather up as he explained them the new change amongst the team : “Considering that the nationals are around the corner, the coach and I stated that it was necessary for us to hire a new manager in order for Y/N not to feel overwhelmed. Please welcome your new manager and take good care of them.”
As his words echoed in the gymnasium, you felt your stomach sink to your heels, your mouth was set agape under the overwhelming feeling of pure disgust. Not them, out of all people. Hell, even Atsumu’s worst fangirl sounded like a better idea right now.
Of course you couldn’t blame Kita for choosing your former best friend as the new manager, but the glance Atsumu threw your way testified of how much he knew this situation was going to eat you up alive.
After the captain dismissed everyone, Atsumu wasted no time and ran up to you, he felt the need to reassure you and make you feel at ease despite the venomous presence of your former best friend.
“Cheer up, baby, ya’ know I’m here, right? This pig isn’t gonna’ get a piece of me. Now, be a doll and gimme’ a kiss.”
Classic Atsumu right here, but who were you to deny such a sweet request? So you did as told, and planted a kiss on his plump lips. And that’s when you could pinpoint the precise moment when your former best friend had fallen right into Atsumu’s trap.
“As your new manager, I have to say that it’s not very professional to kiss your significant other on the court. But, I mean, what else did I expect coming from Y/N?”
Your boyfriend’s arm was protectively wrapped around your waist, tugging you closer. The root of each of his action was to protect you from the incoherent and toxic words dropping from their lips. But deep down, he knew better than to mess with you, especially when the whole team was looking at you.
“Oh, I’m sorry! Did you mean do this?”
There you went again, planting yet another kiss upon Atsumu’s lips who couldn’t help but grin at the taunting nature of your actions. Once you broke the kiss, you could feel the hot breaths of your boyfriend crashing upon your skin “That’s my girl.”
Your former best friend looked around in despair, her eyes scanned the room to seek for help, to back up her actions. Osamu let a small laugh fall free from his lips, Suna rolled his eyes so hard you thought they were going to get stuck at the back of his head, and Kita, out of all people, let out a desperate sigh. “As the captain of the team, I must inform you that it is my duty to let you know that you cannot dictate your way here, and you cannot display a clear lack of respect to Y/N.”
This time, it was their time to be dumbfounded and left in the middle of the gymnasium with their mouth set agape in pure surprise. The silence, although it was broken by a few playful laughs, was agonizing to them.
“C’mon, new manager, tell ‘em why ya’ chose to come here.” Atsumu taunted, the smirk plastered upon his face as wide as ever, but he only found silence as an answer.
“Are you sure you don’t want to tell the rest of the team? Alright then. Maybe you should tell them how you only joined our team to flirt with Atsumu knowing very well that we’re dating, what kind of person that makes you, mh?” Each word pronounced was embedded with venom of your own, and deep down, exposing the true nature of your former best friend brought some sense of satisfaction. And thus you began reading out loud each text they had sent you, justifying their one-sided reason to join the team, only to flirt with Atsumu.
“Yeah, ya’ ain’t slick! Sorry to break it to ya’ but I ain’t into snakes.” Atsumu continued, sticking his tongue out before the still dumbfounded personification of a snake.
Pure embarrassment consumed them, the more they were staying amongst the deafening silence of their sour loss, the more they felt vulnerable and the more they realized they lost their own game. The stares of the whole team became agonizing, so agonizing that they felt obligated to leave the gym, head hung low in defeat.
“Byeee! Ya’ won’t be missed!” Your boyfriend concluded his sentence by imitating the hissing sounds of snakes, and you wondered why you were dating a man-child. Nonetheless, knowing very well he couldn’t get his hands off of you and craved for a physical touch at all times, he pressed his lips against yours once more. “I ain’t into snakes but ya’ could s-s-s-s-slide your way into my heart, baby.” and with that, Osamu hit the back of his twin’s head with a volleyball.
Maybe he deserved that.

Being the unofficial dad of the Karasuno volleyball team came with its perks, one of them was the ability to be able to discern if the people you were hanging with genuinely cared about you or not, you liked to joke around and call this his “secret dad weapon.”
Much like Kuroo, he was not one bit surprised when you told him that you had to put your friendship to an end with your former best friend. Of course, he was not angry, but in typical dad fashion, he adorned the oh so famous disappointed dad expression on his facial structure.
He told you not to overthink it, and to focus on the other friendly presences in your life such as the volleyball team or Kiyoko and Yachi, mainly because he knew he could trust them with his eyes closed, but also because he knew he would be able to make them pay if they were to hurt you.
When you started dating Daichi, you grew the habit to join him outside the gymnasium after his training, a bottle of water in your hand in case he overworked himself, which he always did.
This time, and much to your surprise, you found a note near the doorframe leading to the gymnasium. And if you were careful enough, the slight details and the precise calligraphy hinted that said note was in fact a love note.
You found it rather amusing at first, perhaps it was a letter dedicated to Kiyoko because this woman was the living and breathing proof that God was indeed a woman.
But everyday, you would find yet another letter, still carefully written and decorated leaning against the doorframe. This time, however, a calligraphic ‘D.S’ framed the front of the letter. You couldn’t help but let your stare roam over the fine print of calligraphy over and over again.
As the saying goes ‘curiosity killed the cat’, and you were no exception to that common phrase. You meticulously took the letter and unfolded it- it was so beautifully written, the details were placed strategically. It was a proof of pure love in the form of a letter.
Then, you began reading it :  “Dear Daichi,  Words cannot do justice of how much I love you. Everything about you fascinates me- from the way you spike the ball so roughly to the small smile on your face after scoring a point. If only I could tell you how much you mean to me. Don’t worry, Y/N won’t know a thing. Come to the gymnasium tomorrow at 5 if you wish, until then, accept all my love.”
You read the letter once, then twice, then an umpteenth time until the words were embedded in your brain. You thought it was just a prank, after all, Nishinoya and Tanaka were quite the pranksters amongst the team, but the handwriting was so delicate, too delicate to be theirs.
You could feel salty pearls coming at the brim of your eyes until they fell onto the surface of the paper, resulting in the texture of the letter now being bloated under the wetness of your tears.
You kept your discovery under silence, you trusted your boyfriend of course, but given the additional stress brought by the nationals, you refused to distract him from his goal.
But here you were, sharply there in front of the gym at five as indicated on the letter. However, Daichi hadn’t shown up like the anonymous lover requested, he was already stretching anyway.
Knots started to form in your stomach as you wondered who the hell had the idea to write this love letter to him, after all, it’s not as if your relationship with Daichi was kept as a secret.
And at 5:01 precisely, your orbs felt on the figure of your former best friend who had the most victorious grin plastered upon their face. Not only these letters were meant to be read by Daichi, but by you too, their main goal was to hurt you where it stung the most.
“What the hell are you doing here? Where you the one who wrote these letters?” You spat, waving the letters between your thumb and forefinger.
“I’m sorry, Y/N, I know you love to make everything about yourself but I was expecting Daichi, not you.” Although they said they were sorry, there was not one ounce of genuine compassion in their voice.
Anger got the best of you resulting in the sudden apparition of veins on your neck as the volume of your voice only increased : “Who the fuck do you think you are? Are you that desperate? If you want a reply to your letter : Daichi doesn’t even know who you are.”
Your emotions controlled each one of your actions, including the severe tone of your voice. The ruckus made its way inside the walls of the gymnasium, until Daichi and Sugawara opened the door in order to find an answer as their interrogation : what was happening outside?
Daichi’s eyes widened when he saw your frame shaking from anger, it was so unlike you, you matched him in a way because you were always so calm and collected. His mind raced as he wondered what was the cause of this sudden switch of behavior.
He found the answer to his question pretty rapidly as his eyes darted towards your former best friend who was still wearing that victorious grin on their facial structure. “Y/N, love, what’s going on?” he asked as his hands were draped over your shoulders, forcing you to look at him.
“Oh, hey, Daichi! Have you read the letters I left for you? I bet Y/N never wrote this kind of letters for you.” It took inhuman strength for Daichi to ignore their taunt, instead, Sugawara sent a death glare their way : “Just leave, you have no business being here.”
Sugawara’s attempt at making them leave eventually succeeded after Coach Ukai’s sudden appearance before barking on your former best friend to “get the hell out of here” and “not disturb training anymore.”
Eventually, you were left alone with Daichi, your lungs felt constricted and you struggled to breathe. The aftermath of your outburst of anger made tears run down your cheeks as you sought for comfort inside of Daichi’s loving embrace.
The pad of his thumb brushed your tears away, planting a series of kisses upon the surface of your forehead as a silent way to tell you that he was here and he was not going to let you go.
“Listen, love, I don’t know what happened and we will talk about it whenever you feel ready. But promise me one thing, never doubt of my love for you. Could you do that for me, Y/N?”
You simply nodded against his chest, the steady rhythm of his heartbeat kept the haunting thoughts in your head at bay. “I love you so much, Y/N, so, so much.” he whispered, concluding his sentence with a kiss left on your lips.
If only he knew how much you loved him.

yearning
-kuroo testurou x reader
warnings: angst, unrequited infatuation, self-deprecation (?), slight cursing
note: this is my first fanfic since middle school! It’s nice to be writing again, even if it hurts my feelings :’). sorry if this sucks lmao it’s a vent piece and VERY self-indulgent
There was something about him that you couldn’t get over. Kuroo Testurou was just completely enchanting. Maybe it was that stupid cowlick he swore was a stylistic choice. Maybe it was how attentive he was to his teammates, but brushed it off with gentle jabs and sly remarks. Maybe it was the way his eyes sparkled when faced with a problem that made him rack his brain, but whose answer was on the tip of his tongue. Whatever it was, you were completely head over heals. Enamored with his very being.
He has never spoken a word to you before.
You were running late to meet your friends on the roof at lunch. A question about misgraded points on a test had turned into your teacher droning on about the importance of academic integrity and human error. In your opinion a simple apology would of sufficed. Regardless, you were rushing through the hallways at a concerning speed. You had promised a friend the day before that you would pack her an extra lunch in repayment for buying your food when you forgot your money at home. As you rounded the corner you smacked into the human equivalent of a brick wall, which sent you and both lunches sprawling to the floor. A baritone voice sounded above you.
“Oh shit, I’m so sorry about that!”
FUCK. You immediately cringed and felt the beginnings of a warm flush crawling up your neck. You glanced up to see a shock of raven hair and a pair of amber eyes staring down at you in bewilderment. Goddammit Kuroo. Of course it had to be him. Before you could respond he immediately dropped to his knees and began to swiftly help you reassemble your lunches, not that they were edible anymore. Your poor friend, looks like you’ll both starve. You regain your barrings and scrambled to help him clean up.
“No! I’m the one who should be sorry. I should’ve looked where I was going,” you rushed, trying to scrap together any semblance of dignity you had left.
He lightly chuckled in reply.
“It’s all good, must’ve been pretty important to have you in such a hurry.”
He shot you a crooked grin that almost made your breath catch in your throat. You were pretty sure your blush was in full force now. After assembling the soiled food back into their boxes, he wiped his hands and stood up, offering you a hand. You gladly took it. God, your heart was pounding in your ears. You were positive he could hear it if he listened hard enough. It was a careless accident, nothing remarkable, but you couldn’t help but recall all the meet cutes from every romance movie you’ve consumed. This could be it, a year and a half of pining all building up to this very moment where he finally recognizes his affection for you-
“So, what’s your name?”
This time your breath did catch in your throat. He didn’t even know your fucking name. You spluttered your name, wanting to bitterly remind him he’s heard it during attendance for the last two years. He gave you his name in return, holding out his hand, like you had no idea who he was. You tried your best to force an easy smile of your face while you shook his hand.
“Well, I gotta head out. Try not to run into more people as you go,” he teased.
You gave him a tight smile and assured him that you would try you best. Your face dropped immediately as soon as you turned away. When you recounted the event to your friends when you finally reached the roof they tried their best to console you. At least he knew your name now, right? It would be easier to talk to him now, right?
There was a brief moment of recognition in eyes the next day when he saw you walk into class. He gave you a smirk and a nod. You smiled back. That was it. You hoped that maybe he would catch your eye in the stands when you attending his game later that evening. Hoped that he would give you another charming grin, maybe even seek you out after the game was over. He certainly let his eyes roam the crowd, but they never stopped on you.
The only time he spoke to you again was when he approached you during lunch to ask the whereabouts of, who you found out to be, a mutual friend. You thought it was a bit odd, but you gave him your best estimation. You found out he confessed to her that afternoon, two days later. She gleefully revealed at the lunch table that they were officially dating a week after.
You felt ridiculous being this upset over a boy who barley acknowledged your existence. For christ’s sake, it took him almost two years to learn your name. You couldn’t exactly be mad at him for never recognizing your feelings, but it didn’t make it hurt any less. Even if you hadn’t spoken more than two sentences to him, you had developed a strong admiration for him. He was just so... good. He tutored underclassmen free of charge in his spare time, just to watch them succeed. He never let the first years give up on themselves, constantly reminding them how valuable they are to the team, even if they saw nothing but the bench. It stung, but you admired the way he walked his girlfriend between lessons, a softness in his eyes and a quirk in his smile as he watched her. God, how could you not like him?
So you kept going to his games. Kept stealing glances at him in class. All the while knowing he would never turn to look at you. Why would he? You were just another face in the crowd after all.

A/N: So this is my first request ever??? Kind of a big deal for me so thanks so much! I hope you enjoy!!
Summary: You want to do what is right. Kuroo doesn’t know what he wants.
Pairing: Kuroo x Reader
Prompt: “I’m done. We’re done.”
Genre: Angst
Tumblr media
Kuroo Testurou was in love.
He was in love with volleyball. His eyes lit up whenever he watched games on TV. His muscles flexed, and his arms twitched as he replayed his games from high school. You could see the wheels in his mind turning, wondering what he would do.
He was in love with the beach and the feeling of sand between his toes. He could spend hours lounging under the hot sun, letting the waves lapping at his feet wash away his worries the same way they washed away the sand. You loved watching his back relax, all of the tension and worry leaving his body. He looked so at peace.
Even when it was difficult, he was in love with chemistry, too. He was in love with chemistry when he had a double lab period and he came home exhausted, and when he failed an exam. You were sure of this, because even when he was tired, he wouldn’t hesitate to tell you about what he’d done in class. You didn’t really understand what he was saying, but you understood he chose a major he was passionate about and you loved seeing him fall in love with his work.
Yes, Kuroo Tetsurou was certainly in love. He was in love with a great block in a game, or the way his hair got a little dry after it was doused in salt water, or the time he pulled an all nighter trying to memorize formulas. He was in love.
Just not with you.
You expected the realization to hit like a ton of bricks. A sharp pain, sure, but you’d learn to move on from it.
Instead, it was slow. You’d saturated yourself with him. He was everywhere, in every text and conversation, every class, every daydream. You’d spent so long in love with him, waiting for you to see him, you’d never thought about what would happen if he didn’t.
You went to see a movie with friends. He was between you and another girl and you thought maybe tonight would be the night he realized you were madly in love with him. Maybe, he’d finally appreciate that you stuck with him through high school and college. Maybe, he’d turn to you right at the climax of the movie and plant a warm kiss on your lips. You were sure he’d taste like cherry, like the lip balm he always used.
Instead, he left the movie hand in hand with the girl to your left. She was a sophomore, you two were juniors. She was cuter than you, and her hair was longer, and in her you saw everything you were not.
Kuroo walked you home, because he always did, and wouldn’t stop talking about her. “She’s just…” You’d never made him lost for words. “She listens when I speak. She sees me.” You smiled at him. “Did you know she’s seen all the Alien movies? No girls like those moves!” No girls except for you, who binged it one weekend. With Kuroo.
“This is my stop, Tetsu,” you told him, like you always did. He was so busy talking to about her, he didn’t even realize.
“Whoops,” he chuckled, and pulled you in for a tight hug. Like always.
You wrapped you arms around his neck, and his fell to your waist. Although he stopped playing volleyball in college, Kuroo’s arms remained muscular and his hugs always made you feel secure. He was home.
When you pulled back, his features softened. It was a silent victory. You were the only one who got to see him like this, with his guard down and his feelings bare. “Thank you for coming with us tonight,” he conceded. “I know it was a little weird because you’re not really friends with her friends, but I appreciate.” His arms were still around your waist. You smiled weakly.
“You know me, if you need something, I’ll be there.” You pulled away from his embrace.
The truth of your words made your heart hurt.
He bid you goodnight, and you were left alone in your apartment. You went to the bathroom to look in the mirror. Nope. You thought, seeing your familiar frame. Still not invisible.
You’d been through this before with Kuroo. He got in and out of relationships like cats got out of the house. But something resounded in your heart told you that this was different. This had you looking in your mirror, picking at your stomach and face, wondering what you needed to be to get him to look at you like he looked at her.
But you wanted him to be happy. And clearly for that to happen, you couldn’t be in the equation.
You tried to grow apart from him, truly. But he was everywhere. He was in the sweatshirt he left at your apartment and the margins of your notes. He was in breakfast “dates” (but as friends) and every rom-com, except now you weren’t the girl holding his hand.
Like a sweet poison, you just couldn’t get away from him. He was your own personal drug. The highs you got from him were wonderful, but damn did the lows hurt. You were a moth drawn to a flame.
Still, you really did spend less time around him. He was busy going on dates and visiting his girlfriend. You were busy nursing a broken heart, that hadn’t even had the chance to be whole. But every text from him brought you back down to Earth. Every smile he sent your way when you saw him dragged you back down.
You were done being hopeful. If he was happy with her, you were better off staying out of the way. It was enough to listen to him, and to see him smile. It was enough to be around him, even if you weren’t with him.
Besides, his friends were your friends, too. You weren’t alone without him, just lonely. You found other people to study with, and to get breakfast with. You made new inside jokes and moved on. You moved on.
Then, there was a knock at your door.It was late, but you’d been up watching shark week. You lazily stood, hot chocolate in hand and blanket wrapped around your body, and dragged yourself to the door. Half asleep and entirely apathetic, you didn’t look to see who was outside before you opened.
And there was Kuroo, breathing heavy and drenched.
“Tetsu?” you froze. It felt like your heart stopped beating. Swallowing your hesitation, you reminded yourself that he was your best friend first and that your feelings had faded. “Your soaked! Come inside, I’ll grab a towel.” You pulled on his wrist, bringing him to your couch and running off.
You came back with a towel and his sweatshirt so he could warm up. He looked at your like he was a ghost.
You’d seen Kuroo Testurou through thick and thin. You saw when he was rejected by his dream college, and when he finally graduated from Nekoma. You saw him win and lose countless volleyball games. You saw him through heartbreak after heartbreak. You watched him fall in love with everyone but you.
Yet, you’d never seen him like this. Maybe you had, but his eyes were never directed at you. Between the two of you, there was always clarity. He could be a thousand miles away, but one phone call and it was like he was standing beside you.
Right now, there were worlds between the two of you. You could grab his hand, but you wouldn’t feel his pulse. Hesitantly, you sat in front of him. You opened your mouth to speak, perhaps to ask if he was alright, but he cut you off.
“I think I’m in love with you.”
Your whole body felt like it was on fire.
“You’re what?”
Truly, you didn’t intend on saying it like that. Your voice was like venom. Love? Now? Your words pierced Kuroo’s heart with the reality that in love is the worst thing he could be.
“You have a girlfriend, Tetsu,” you reminded him, hands squeezing the blanket around your shoulders. He reached out to hold you, but you pulled away. Not now, you pleaded. Tears pricked the corners of your eyes.
“I know,” he responded. “I’m sorry, I know.” Your heart beat against your chest, threatening to burst through your lungs. You couldn’t breathe.
You wanted nothing more than to hold him. To tell him you loved him to, and you always had. You wanted to be in his arms, but this time as more than his best friend. You wanted to know what it felt like to have his cherry lips against yours. But not like this.
“She told me she loved me,” he admitted, head hanging to his chest. You couldn’t see his eyes, and he couldn’t see the way you stared at him like he was your whole world. “No one’s ever said that to me. Not like that.” You knew. If someone had said it to him, you’d be the first to know. You knew all his firsts.
“I wanted to tell her I loved her back. But all I could think of was you.”
You sighed.
You knew Kuroo Tetsurou for a long. He was the captain of Nekoma’s volleyball team, and that gave him skills he still used in college. He could see through people down to all their nuts and bolts, to find what made them tick. He was smarter than he let on, and he worked hard, still. Somedays, it felt like he was always two steps ahead of everyone else. But tonight, he was human, too. Although your heart begged to give him mercy, your mind spoke through.
This isn’t right.
“I was in love with you for years,” you told him honestly, holding his hand. He looked up at you. Were you crying?
“I spent so much time waiting for you.” His grip on your hand tightened. He knew. There were too many stolen glances. There were too many long hugs. There was no way he didn’t know. “But even I got tired of waiting. You missed your chance.”
“I’m done, Tetsurou.”
You let go of his hand.
“Whatever this was between us…” You thought about all the movie nights. All the study dates, and the breakfasts together. You thought about the time he let you wear his jacket, and then you never gave it back because he didn’t mind. You thought about holding his hand in crowded places. You thought about how he was always your number one, even when you weren’t always his.
“We’re done.”

So I'm reading your works and I love them !! I was thinking of requesting some kind of drabble or whatever you like, about a female reader who has thick thighs and is somewhat plump and is in love with Tsukishima but he makes a comment about the food and she feels bad and when she meets Bokuto in the boot camp Bokuto is too cute and attentive to her asking for her number and a date. If you don't feel comfortable with this, just ignore it and good luck with your blog. Sorry my english is bad<3

Tsukishima
You and Tsukishima have been dating in your first year (as you both went to the same middle school together.)
You were in love with Tsukishima, you always have been to be honest, but once you became officially boyfriend and girlfriend your feelings amplified.
But recently, Tsukishima hasn’t been so nice.
“Y/N we’re going on another training camp at Nekoma” Hinata exclaimed running up to you, as you leaning against Tsukishima “and you get to come too this time!”
You recently became the new trainee manager as the third-year manager, Kikyoko, is going to graduate. Tsukishima acted as if you being around all the time in practice was the worst thing in the world, but Yamagucchi always assured you that ‘Tsukki’ was just joking.
“Oh well that’s fun...” you say entertaining Hinata’s excitement. You were kind of excited to go to the training camp too, as it was in Tokyo after all. You were always a big fan of volleyball as your dad used to play for the national team and you were planning to play on the girls team this year but you felt that you didn’t have the body for it (which was obviously not true.)
Hinata kept on rambling on before Tsukishima insulted him. “Gosh Kei, you don’t have to be so rude.” you complained, he slightly nudged you off of him and put on his headphones showing you that he was not in a good mood.
You let the rest of the practice continue, making notes of things and basically being Kiyoko’s shadow. As it ended, you waited outside for Tsukishima to walk home with you, but one of the guys told you he left 5 minutes ago. You knew there was no point of chasing after him so you just walked on your own, making you sigh in defeat.
Tsukishima was what you would describe as hot and cold. Some days he was fine a ‘perfect gentlemen’ but other days, days like this Tsukishima was just Tsukishima.
When you got home, you decided to watch matches of all the other schools just to get some insight. You were watching a Fukarodani V Nekoma match from a few years ago and something caught your eye, well someone did to be more specific. A beefy, bicolour haired boy who was hooting like an owl was mesmerizing to watch.
You saw that his name was Bokuto Koutarou which triggered your next actions, which were to internet stalk him. You learned that he was the captain of the team and the team’s ace and the 5th ace in the country which piqued your interest in the boy even more.
‘This is going to be an exciting training camp’ you think to yourself before going to sleep.
`Kiyoko gave you an itinerary of all the things you should bring, since you weren’t going to be joining in any of the matches you were reminded to bring things that would keep entertained.
You get to the bus at the crack of dawn, ready to be driven to Tokyo. Hinata and Kageyama were already arguing (let’s pretend that they didn’t have to do the retakes in the test) Tanaka and Nishinoya were being loud, and the rest of the members were already asleep. You wanted to sit next to Tsukishima but when you were about to sit down, he put his carryon bag in the seat next to him.
The bus ride was around 4-5 hours, and you spent your time reading and sleeping. Daichi got the loudmouths to calm down making the bus ride more tolerable. You suffered from slight motion sickness but you powered through.
When you arrived there, you saw all the other teams and their buses too. You felt a bit overwhelmed, seeing these tall boys just crowd around an entrance way. But too your surprise, noticing your slight anxiousness, Tsukishima grabbed your hand in a hand-hold.
The Nekoma coach, explained how the day would pan out and where each team would be residing for the week. There was a lot of commotion getting everyone settled, Hinata and Nishinoya were basically bouncing off of the wall commenting on all the people and the place and how they’re going to ‘crush the competition.’
You could tell that when the other teams were looking at Karasuno they were all staring at Kiyoko. Inquisitive about how there wasn’t only one girl manager but there was two. As you were walking your eyes locked with Bokuto Koutarou’s making yours widen, you blush and turn your head quickly.
What you didn’t know was, after your small interaction, Bokuto elbowed Akaashi and said “Akaaashi AKKAAASHI, did ya see that? did ya?” he was flying with happiness “That girl from Karasuno smiled at me. She’s really pretty.”
“I think she’s from Karasuno” Akaashi said “So maybe you’ll see her around”
Bokuto stared off in the direction you were walking in “Yeah, hopefully.”
The first day, everyone got settled in and then the teams went straight into games. There were two different gyms and today, in gym 1, you were watching Karasuno V Nekoma. (By the way I literally don’t remember the teams at the training camp besides Nekoma, Karasuno and Fukarodani.) The game was very back a point each team making point after point, you already knew of Nekoma’s captain, Kuroo Testurou and the setter Kenma, you’ve actually played games with Kenma online before so you were fairly acquainted with him already.
The games ended and it was now dinner time, the canteen was packed with all the boys rushing to line up for the food. You waited at the back of the line, not really caring about when you got your food. Suddenly, you felt a tap on your shoulder and you looked over to see Boktuo,
“Hi.” he said “I’m Bok-”
“Bokuto Koutarou!” You finished “I'm a big fan..” you cringed immediately at your excitement ‘pull it together Y/N’ you scold yourself.
“Oh well hi, I’m glad you know who I am” he said “and may I ask for your name?”
“Oh I’m Y/N L/N” you say with a slight blush “I'm the trainee manager from Karasuno.”
“Cool! Well I hope to see you aro-” he starts
“Y/N, I’ve been looking all over for you, I already got your food for you.” Tsukishima said pulling at your arm a bit harshly, dragging you over to a table with the Karasuno team.
“Gosh Tsukki, no need to be so harsh” you say rubbing at your wrist, he didn’t apologize and just started eating his food.
You look down at your plate and see the small portion that Tsukki got for you. The Karasuno bunch was being loud, as they usually are, so when you whisper “Tsukki what the fuck is this” whilst nudging him in the side, he didn’t hear you (or atleast he pretended he didn’t.) You tried again but a little louder saying, “Tsukishima what the fuck is this.” you realised you said it a bit too loud as the whole Karasuno table stopped their conversations to look over at the slight commontion you caused.
“What do you mean Y/N?” he said with a slight smirk on his face.
“I mean what’s with the portion size of a bird that you gave me?” you ask getting upset “Do you really think im that big?”
“Well, you could start eating less that’s for sure.” he said earning gasps from you and some of the people sitting at the table “Y/N let's face it, you eat like a pig and you look like an elephant, me making your food portion smaller is the least I could do.”
By now you had tears in your eyes, Tsukishima was a dick. You knew this, everybody knew this to be honest, yet you still loved him. He wasn’t like this in middle school, yes he was a bit snarky and rude (but wasn’t every middle schooler?) High school Tsukishima was like a completely different person. As much as you wanted to run away and hide, you knew you couldn’t.
So you stood up and said “Tsukishima, I’ve spent 3 years loving and pining after you, because I thought you were this great guy, but turns out you’re a huge asshole” you start making some of the people listening in smile in laughter “Tsukishima, I’ve hated this past year dating you, you’ve been such a huge dick and I’m finally stopping you. I can’t do this anymore. I won’t.” You start making your way to exit before finally saying “Oh and by the way I’m not the pig here, you are... oh and I’m breaking up with you.” You left, hearing a few laughs and some claps behind you.
You felt relieved, like the massive cloud that’s been over your head is finally gone. You went to the gym since you knew it was empty and picked up a ball to just throw it around a bit. After a while of ‘de-stressing,’ you hear someone else enter the gym.
“Oh I didn’t know you’d be here.” said Bokuto
“Well here I am,” you say awkwardly “I can leave if you want me too, I know this is for actual volleyball players.”
“No no it’s fine you can definitely stay, in fact do you mind setting for me?” he asks
“Sure, of course I don’t mind” you reply, excited you get to play with someone.  You haven’t played in ages, you always begged Tsukishima to just throw a ball around with you but he never did.
You set to Boktuo a lot, with him always asking for ‘another one’ everytime he spiked the ball. Eventually, you were tired of setting and wanted to spike. You originally was a spiker to begin with taking after your dad. Thats why you took a liking to Bokuto in the first place cause he reminded you of the joys you had when watching your father play.
Bokuto set a ball to you and you spiked it with great strength and accuracy smiling at the burning feeling you felt in your palm.
“Woahh” Bokuto shouted going towards you in amazement “Where did you learn how to spike like that?”
“From my dad, I don’t know if you heard of him before but my dad’s name is D/N L/N...?” you say
“D/N L/N, Y/N he is my idol!” he shouted again “I want to be just like him.”
“I think you can, I see a lot of similarites in the way you both play.” you say
“Really! And you’ve seen me play before..?” he asks
“Yeah, I watched some of your games before coming here... you’re really good” you shyly admit.
“Wow.”
You and Bokuto spend the rest of your time, talking about volleyball you’re interests, things you have in common, your likes and dislikes. Talking to Bokuto was refreshing, he didn’t randomly insult you or make snide comments about your weight or your looks. He just genuinely looked happy to be there talking to you, unlike Tsukishima.
Seeing your change in mood, Bokuto stops talking and asks “are you alright? I forgot to ask earlier, but I saw what happened in the canteen and I hope you’re okay.”
“Yeah I’m fine, it’s just things with me and Tsukishima reached a breaking point, I guess...” you say sniffling a bit talking about it “But it’s fine now I’ve broken up with him and I feel better already.”
“So you’re saying your single...?” he asked blushing a bit
“Yeah I guess I am...” you smile blushing also.
“Okay great...well I hope this isn’t too forward after everything happened with Tsukki and all but...” he starts “but would you like to go on a date with me?”
“Who me?” you ask as if you weren’t the only other person in the room
“No the volleyball” he responds sarcastically “Of course you Y/N.”
“Are you sure, cause to be honest Bokuto you’re a really good-looking guy” you say making him smile widely “so I think you need someone to match your level in attractiveness” you look down and his smile drops.
“What do you mean?” he asks before realising all the stuff Tsukishima said about you “Y/N you’re beautiful, your face, your body just you.” you blush at his words “when I first saw you when you were walking past us in the entrance way the first thing I thought and said about you was “Akaashi who is that girl she’s beautiful.””
“Really?” you ask with disbelief
“Mhm” he nods excitedly “So will you go on a date with me?”
“I guess so...” you say a bit unsure
“HEY HEY HEY!” he exclaims “I gotta go tell akaashi!” he runs out of the gym in a hurry making you laugh, but he comes back to give you a quick unexpected kiss on the cheek making you smile.
You checked your phone for the time realising that you’ve been with Bokuto for 3 hours and you knew that everyone would be going to sleep now. As you are the manager you slept seperately from the rest of the team but before you went to your sleeping quaters you went to Karasunos.
“Y/N where have you been? We’ve been worried about you.” asked yammagucchi
“It’s fine yams don’t worry about it, guys” you say catching everyones attention “I just wanted to apologise to you for my outburst at dinner, it wasn’t my intention to cause a scence.”
“It’s fine Y/N” said sugawara “He definitely deserved it.”
“Yeah as your marvellous senpai we gave him a good telling off” said Tanaka and Nishinoya  making you chuckle.
“Okay well thanks guys, I’m going to sleep goodnight.”
“Wait Y/N can I speak with you.” asked Tsukishima gesturing to outside the room
“Umm sure” you respond following him into the corridor.
“I just want to say I’m sorry for the things I’ve said and done over the past year and how I’ve been a terrible boyfriend, you don’t deserve that. So, I’m sorry.”
“I can’t say I can forgive you yet.” you say making Tsukishima look sad “but maybe with effort from you we can become friends possibly?”
“Just friends?” he said with hope in voice thinking that you could be something more.
“Just friends.” you repeated and confirmed “Besides I have been asked on a date”
“With who?”
“None of your business stingyshima” you mock the nickname that Hinata calls him making him scowl and you smile “Goodnight.”
After Bokuto’s confession and Tsukishima’s apology, the rest of the training camp went off without a hitch. In your breaks and lunchtimes, you got to know more about Bokuto and with Kuroo’s help you even got to sneak out to actually go on your date. You sometimes even went to practice with them getting to show off your skills, with Bokuto cheering you on and complimenting you every single time.
Tsukishima kept his distance for the most part, and kept the snarky comments about you and Bokuto to himself (even though he was dying to say them.) You eventually fully forgave Tsukishima in your 3rd year but you definitely weren’t as close as you used to be. Tsukishima’s comments and actions did affect you for a while however with the help of your loving boyfriend, you were reminded how beautiful you are no matter what weight, shape or height you were.
You and Bokuto stayed together, you made sure to come to every one of his games and when you introduced him to your dad he fainted on sight. Your dad and Bokuto got along, and became very close friends, Bokuto always came to him for advice (especially volleyball advice.) You loved Bokuto and he definitely loved you too.
AN: I hope you liked it, since I didn’t want to make it too similar too the Atsumu insecure one. And I feel like it dragged out a bit but got rushed in the endd....but oh well...
