The boys continued talking about their shared experiences with Bruce, Steven, and Jake. It's an unconventional set up for a family but they all manage to make it work together.
At some point Bruce realized they hadn't gotten around for bed yet so he looked in the one place he knew he'd find three teen boys, the kitchen. Sure enough they were there all sat on stools, cereal long finished. They were boisterously recounting their favorite moments with their surrogate fathers. Random fic idea, under the cut because it's a bit long: P2 RHPS AU feat. Bandom At Large!
Due to watching the video of Patrick's performance of "I Can Make You A Man" for the 2020 RHPS charity livestream--which, oh my God, by the way--I was struck by the idea of a Rocky Horror AU. To be clear, I don't mean an AU based on the movie the Rocky Horror Picture Show, I mean an AU about the boys putting on the Rocky Horror Picture show. So really, I suppose, it's a college community theater AU of some kind, but it's focused around RHPS. Not that I've been involved in a production myself, other than at CTY, I suppose, but having done community theater generally and attended RHPS productions, I think I can make a fair attempt.
So, anyway. Pete is running the thing--whole thing is his idea, he's the director, etc. I feel like this is likely not the first year, and in fact Pete likely inherited the production from an upperclassman. But they had a lot of people graduate last year, and they're having trouble backfilling those roles, so in addition to directing he's reprising his role as Rocky. They're advertising hard for musicians, too, because Pete--being a go big or go home kind of guy--ALSO wants to perform with a live band this year and do a proper Rocky Horror Show production, rather than perform in front of the film as they've typically done. That's how Patrick gets involved: he shows up to inquire about playing in the pit, because he's always trying to pick up odd musical jobs here and there to pay for school, and in true Fall Out Boy fashion he ends up singing a little bit and Pete's like, wait, no, holy fuck, sing this, throws the book at him, Patrick sings a bit of one of Frank's lines, and that's all she wrote. They've been having a particular amount of trouble casting Frank, and Pete decides Patrick is perfect for the role, which kind of baffles everyone else, especially Patrick, but Pete's like... distractingly pretty, so against his own better judgement Patrick agrees.
Beyond that, I'm not sure what the actual, like, plot would be. I think Patrick has a passing familiarity with RHPS but definitely not intimate knowledge, so partially he has to get up to speed. Partially, too, he has to overcome his stage fright and particularly his aversion to appearing on stage in front of a bunch of strangers while wearing sexy outfits and doing a lot of slutty slutty things, so there's that, but idk if that's a "plot" per se. There's also the implication/background of the production being sort of scrappy, but I don't know that that's a "plot" either, really. Hmmm.
Well, in the meantime, other notes that I had in my head include Gabe Saporta as Brad because I think that's really funny given his everything; Joe and Andy are definitely involved, I think with Joe playing Meatloaf and Andy drumming, or maybe Andy's Meatloaf and Joe is Riff Raff???? General DCD2/bandom cast... Uhhh, Ray should definitely be in the band/pit, Hayley Williams and Gerard are Magenta and Columbia (not sure which is which--I like Gerard as a sexy maid, so maybe he's Magenta???), and then that leaves, what, the criminologist??? Oh, and Janet, obviously. Maybe Greta from the Hush Sound is Janet? Or Vicky-T, that would make a lot of sense. Frank is either in the pit or he's the stage manager or something. Or crew. He kind of has insane stage crew energy. Mikey is... there. Possibly pit as well. Possibly just hanging around and the joke is everyone's always like, Mikey what the fuck are you doing here???? and he just shrugs and the answer is that he tends to get dragged into things Gerard's involved in and this is no different, but really he's just hanging around.

Well at first I wanted to do kinda a normal ebg, no plot or anything bc I don't think I have the smarts to do an elaborate game/story lmao and I kinda wanted to have more established s/i lore??

See I'd been working SO hard on her names lately, researching and studying in-game adepti lore and stuff and I though why don't I make it a simple game where the goal is to guess her name (with me giving hints ofc) and at the very start I had the idea of her losing her memories so she could re-discover/remember things about herself alongside the "players" learning them. Whoever character I got as my bias would help her and get to know her too along the way, even npcs (or in the rare case of me getting Dottore/Pantalone, probs be the villain for her memory loss lmao)
And then I got Kazuha. And it was so SO perfect.
I took inspiration from Spirited Away with the plot point of having your name/memories/identity stolen and for some reason I remembered the whole Ino-shika-cho koi-koi card combo from Summer Wars I just had this vivid mental image of a scene where Kazuha dropped the biggest hint by writing the Kanji for Butterfly (Chō) which doubles ofc as the Hanzi for Butterfly/Crystalfly (Dié)
written the same pronounced (and romanized) differently :3c

and then I just had the epiphany What if I just reverse engineer and name her Crystalfly in cn?
Lore would be that either her name got accidentally translated in documents a long long time ago and ppl started calling ehr Crystalfly/Crys and she rolled with it or she simply adopted the translation/nickname as her name for international settings, keeping her true name more private (hidden in plain sight tbh) p sure the only ones who know are the elder adepti (Ganyu/Xiao included) and Neuvillette (once he told her his real/first name)
(ironically Crys may be harder to pronounce i other languages lmaoooo rip Fontaine)

I figured I'd make a proper blog post instead of just random scattered discord posts. Here are some of the things I've done to improve my sims 3 performance, and (mostly) remove stuttering, as well as some stuff to increase the graphics quality. I don't know how accurate any of this is, but it's helped my game a lot ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Please note that I have a 2070, and I would recommend having >2gb for your GPU if using these tweaks (and just in general). While these settings and tweaks might help you if you're on an older card, I have no way of really checking that.
This guide is mostly focused on reducing stutter, with a few tips thrown in for reducing memory usage for the girlies with the large luxurious games and Error 12 problems.
Stutter?
Stutter (or frame drops) are sadly a part of the sims 3, th-e-y're th-e frequ-ent hitches where the game "freezes" for a second, often when moving the camera.
The main tweaks will help reduce stuttering while the game is paused, sadly while playing the game, you're still gunna chug along. Object and sim loading/unloading/displaying/hiding causes a large amount of the stutter, so unless you have an older computer, most of the graphics settings aren't going to help you, but will (in a few cases) help with reducing memory usage.
If you'd like to try this out, there's the (top secret super hidden) config value prop $ConfigGroup ForceHighLODObjects 1, which forces everything to high LOD, which should make the game overall a whole lot smoother both paused and unpaused (high detail lots will still lag it when loading tho) compared to the default settings. Just add a new line under one of the settings fields with it in. Do not use this in your normal gameplay unless playing in a small map, as it greatly increases memory usage. Looks real pretty though.
!!THESE CHANGES SHOULD BE MADE ON TOP OF A GraphicsRules.SRG FILE THAT SUPPORTS YOUR GRAPHICS CARD!!
Either download one that has been updated, update it yourself, or use the tool. No longer providing my own but might in the future.
Main Performance Tweak - LODs
The main setting that helped alleviate most stuttering for me was RenderSimLODDistances in the GraphicsRules.srg file (\The Sims 3\Game\Bin). Essentially we change it to load the low quality LOD models from muuuch further.
prop $ConfigGroup RenderSimLODDistances "70, 70, 9999999, 9999999"
The values for this are highres lot distance, highres world distance, low lot, low world. In an ideal world we would be able to max out high res, but due to how the culling works, that just increases stuttering. I would also recommend turning off ForceActiveLotObjectsToHighLOD if you're using high detail lots > 1, and MinSimLOD to 0
I recommend tweaking the highres values if you get lag when zooming in.
For more memory
I would HIGHLY recommend dropping ActiveLODLimit and ObjectSizeCullFactor, as they are a much better way of reducing loaded in assets. You can be fairly ruthless with them, I recommend dropping ObjectSizeCullFactor down to <75~, and ActiveLODLimit (dunno if this actually does anything) the same (too low and the game will never load). Raise it up if you're noticing pop-in. IIRC your household lot loads everything regardless(?)
If you're frequently running into Error 12, or playing large households, I, sadly, recommend keeping "Max Detail Lots" at 1. I would also recommend DropTexMipsOnLoad = 0 (shouldn't help but it does), and maybe tweaking some of the texture sizes to lower res, depending on your preferences (a lot get crushed anyway). Other options like culling and LOD distances have basically no impact on overall memory use and are safe to increase. Make sure you're also using my memory notifier/freer thing too ;^)
Graphics
Things that didn't have any/much of a performance impact but make the game look better (in my opinion)

Some maps look a little scuffed with it maxed out, or have seams, however this can be reduced with…
Fog
FogDistances I have mine set to FogDistances "300, 600, 3000, 8000" and FogCurveModifier "9, 1" This is personal preference, and I'd recommend playing around with it to find something that works for your world and clip distance. Neither options have any noticeable performance impact for me (objects still load regardless of clip/fog distance).

There's no real reason not to. You could change the values so it loads the low(er) res ones further away and then higher ones in after, but the performance hit was nothing for me. Having all the trees there looks reaaaallllyy nice on some towns.

DXVK and dxwrapper
!!!! THIS MIGHT NOT WORK FOR EA LAUNCHER IDK !!!
UPDATE: I no longer recommend DXVK due to it increasing overall memory usage, having said that, dxwrapper is still very nice, I'd recommend using it over LazyDuchess's ASI loader. Keeping this here down the bottom just in case.
If you are using dxvk, I use(d) dxvk-async but you should be fine to use the main repo. On top of this I use dxwrapper for the exception handling features.
One thing you'll have to keep in mind is Your Options.ini file will need to be remade if using dxvk since it looks like you've installed a new GPU.
To install, just shove the right dll's into your \The Sims 3\Game\Bin folder - d3d9.dll for dxvk, everything from dxwrapper and the ddraw.dll from its Stubs folder. If you're using Smooth Patch, which you should be, it's okay to delete the ddraw provided with it, as dxwrapper can do .asi plugin loading itself (LoadPlugins = 1 in ini). You should see a few new files pop up when you launch the game if installed correctly, dxwrapper.log and TS3W.dxvk-cache
If you're using reshade, rename the reshade dll to dxgi.dll
depth buffer might not work, I'm not 100% sure, so keep that in mind

monday, november 20th, 07:02am
no i haven’t slept yet.
i was having a mild emotional breakdown at like four in the morning and asked charlie if i could go stay with her for a little bit. charlie,. the angel she is, said yes, so i’ve only just gotten home. i tried to write this post earlier but the words didn’t look right and nothing i wrote was any good. like the alphabet had a personal vendetta against me in my hour of need.
writing helps. my old therapist, julie, always suggested it but i was never really any good at keeping a journal or a diary - the thought of logging it every day was so scary to me. that’s why i find it easier to keep this blog. there’s no need for me to do it every day and no repercussions for me if i just let all my thoughts spill out. i know it would’ve been the same if i had kept a diary… but it just seemed too daunting. maybe i’ve grown as a person. julie would’ve been proud, i think.
today was going relatively well, other than the unfortunate events of earlier. its trans day of remembrance, so me, noah and jamie went to a little memorial in town. there were speeches and a choir. it makes me so, so sad how many of my trans siblings die every year. whether that’s suicide or murder. i nearly cried at one of the speeches. it was almost a eulogy, in a way. the speaker was choking up and it broke my heart. maddie joined us a little bit into it, and i got to meet her friend violet! violet was really lovely, she had cool eyeliner and cool hair. i’d like to get to know her better, if maddie would bring her to more events. they went off to do clothes shopping after a while, and noah and jamie went into the queer cafe to warm up for a little bit, so i was by myself. i didn’t mind. i was just enjoying my time surrounded by other members of the trans community.
about two hours in, around 2pm, we got a little bit too cold standing in the wind and rain so decided to go for a walk around the lanes. if you’ve never been to brighton, the lanes are like… eclectic, colourful streets filled with small businesses, independent artists, vintage clothes shops and super overpriced little cafes. its one of my favourite parts about living here. noah and jamie got birthday cards for their mums (who share a birthday!) and then we went to snoopers paradise. snoopers is a massive shop, basically like a flea market, with loads of random memorabilia and other quirky stuff. i bought two things, a little box with a pierrot clown on it, and a big ornament of a clown playing a trombone. i have a collection of clowns, they make me really happy, so i was super excited when i found them! i’m still looking for names for the trombone clown, nobody’s suggestions have been ‘right’ for him yet. after snoopers we went home. it was freezing outside so i was very happy when i got back inside and warmed up. i made myself some chicken nuggets and watched a fuhnaff theory video. then i had a nap. my sleep schedule has been so fucked up lately, i was exhausted by about half three in the afternoon.
this brings us to about half six! jamie had some kind of family drama and called me crying like half an hour after i woke up from my nap. my room is a complete mess at the moment so i had to meet him in the communal area of my accommodation. after we sorted that and i’d calmed him down, we headed to his. we had plans with friends to go to the pub for a bit and he needed to get ready. that went fairly quickly! we met noah, maddie, taiga and mia at the bus stop. i tapped out a bit on the bus ride, i was really overwhelmed. i remember texting tyler (who was on their way back to brighton after spending the weekend at home) and telling them who i was with, but it was a bit hazy from there. the first pub we went to was the great eastern! its a really cute little building with chill music and an overall nice vibe. it is really small though. we all got a mulled cider, which was really nice! we just sat outside chatting for a bit when i pointed out tyler on the other side of the street (they almost definitely did not see us) and maddie ran to get them. it was kinda sweet. and then there was seven! we moved pretty soon after they got there, to another cool pub called the prince albert. i only had a half pint because i didn’t want to get too fucked. everyone else was drinking and talking and it was really nice, until charlie and pip walked in. for context: we LOVE charlie, this is the same charlie i mentioned earlier, she’s my best friend and platonic soulmate and the nicest human being on earth. pip on the other hand… a slightly more controversial figure. of the group i was with, i think it was divided almost in half by people who’re on good terms with her and people who absolutely hate her guts. i’m trying to remain neutral purely because i don’t want her to be an enemy of mine, but my true thoughts? she’s manipulative, hypocritical, selfish. she cheated on her girlfriend multiple times but blames the end of the relationship on her ex. she’s a danger to herself and others - she has an alcohol and drug abuse problem - and every time she tries to be sexual towards me it makes me sick in the pit of my stomach. i think she’s gross. i tolerate her to avoid conflict because she has a lot of power and would probably decimate any kind of “image” or “reputation” i have. i know she’s talked shit about me behind my back, too. but yeah. we don’t like her that much. my night went downhill from there. i went home about an hour later.
well… not home. we had “afters” in jamie’s flat, just me, noah and jamie. he was on a facetime the whole time, which made me and noah feel really awkward. luckily, taiga, mia and charlie came home not long after us which gave us some company. taiga and mia went to bed, but charlie stayed. we talked (well… gossiped) for a while before calling it quits. jamie’s other friend, daisy, came over and he just left the three of us in his kitchen while he talked with her in his room. charlie told me some information that made me kinda upset. shocked, maybe more than anything, and angry and upset. we went home and i cried in the shower, listening to the playlist tyler made me.
from there… yeah. it got worse, i went to charlie’s, she made me feel better. that’s it really.
even though i haven’t gone into much detail about the bad… it was bad. like, considering harming myself bad. which is maybe a bit dramatic, all things considered, but i wasn’t thinking rationally.
i do feel better now though.

I'm actually writing this post specifically for @deepwoodenheart because they followed my main and were not a porn blog. Thanks! They've recently expressed an interest in Yuichiro Umehara (a voice actor), and @msyuksanh is his number one fan who is the one who actually introduced me to this specific voice actor. Since I watch a ton of anime (an unhealthy amount), I will be running through some of the stuff I have watched (and some stuff I haven't). Some of these are just to make fun of these anime, but I don't fault any seiyuu for taking a bad role because you do what you need to to make that bread 🍞
His list of roles is big but not as big as some other voice actors, so I was able to go through which ones I had watched or heard of quite quickly. He has made some random appearances in other anime that I've watched where I went "Huh, definitely know this guy from somewhere" like Fire Force, Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun, and Kaguya-sama.
Note: I haven't watched Jojo Part 6 yet or that parody magic anime with the wombat.
The anime will go in no specific order, but it generally goes from "good" to "mediocre" to "these anime can go suck cheese" with anything below the "keep reading" being literal trash-tier anime.
There's also some missing stuff, especially in terms of idol anime because I haven't watched those and don't plan on it for now. From looking at the cast list, I think his major idol roles are in Magic Kyun, Tsukipro, Ensemble Stars, and Idolmaster SideM (regular Idolmaster is for female idols).
Akagami no Shirayuki-hime
I was talking to a friend of mine recently when we went Christmas shopping, and when he saw this manga he went, "I didn't like that one." I personally did like this one. His complaint was that too much time was given to the secondary love interest. Umehara plays a supporting (but recurring) character.

Fruits Basket (remake)
Okay, Umehara admittedly barely shows up in this one, but people should watch Fruits Basket no matter who they are. It's good for the soul. That is all.

Tenchi Souzou Design-bu
This anime is surprisingly not directly creationism, but it sure comes close! As a biology major, this anime was pretty neat, but some of it made me go, "What am I watching anyway?" I'm not an ecology specialist though, so maybe this makes more sense to others. His character is a supporting character, but he has some funny bits.
((He also gets to rap in this role, so that was kind of funny. My other favourite lines are "Wow, Mercury is dead!" and "WOO! SAIKOU NI COOL!!!"))
SSSS.Dynazenon
This one was not nearly as good as Gridman which was already divisive in the mecha community (that I'm not a part of). I heard from others that it was enjoyable, but I personally thought it was a bit of a bore. Props to the casting director for getting Chika Anzai and her cousin Junya Enoki. There are some subbed radio segments that are funny too.
((Also, this is the first anime I watched where he was cast as an ugly adult. Ain't nobody falling for kinoko hair over here. He has also played a piece of sperm, but I digress.))
Dame x Prince
This anime was built for cringe, and it succeeds at cringe. But because it embraces the cringe, it unironically becomes one of the better anime adaptations of an otome game which is like saying you're the tallest dwarf of the seven dwarfs. It also gave a long-running radio with Kaito Ishikawa and Soma Saito.
Shingeki no Bahamut: Virgin Soul
I genuinely remember so little about this anime that I went to go watch clips to refresh my memory, and this anime wasn't even bad. It was mediocre, but for something based off a card game, they did really well. I actually watched this for Sumire Morohoshi and her bubbly character Nina. This is technically a sequel, so you'd need to watch the previous one to fully understand it. Oddly enough, I didn't know the first season was a romance until some characters kissed.
Gakuen Babysitters
This one was essentially built to be a comfort watch. It works at what it wants to do, but I don't like kids. The ending theme is cute, but Nishiyama looked way more into it (Umehara was there to get paid).
Shinchou Yuusha
I personally thought this anime was gonna be a Konosuba, and it kind of was, but it was far more palatable for me (I was not able to make it through Konosuba and will try again at a later date). Aki Toyosaki carries 99% of the comedy in this anime.

Orenchi no Furo Jijou
Fun fact: I watched this before knowing what a shounen ai was! I saw the shounen part and went "Oh, so my demographic" watched it, came out, and went "What. Was. That?!" I don't remember a whole ton about it, but I don't remember it being horrendous. It's just some mermaid in a bathtub. I think this was his debut role, and he does play a main character.
Juuni Taisen
This is probably in a similar boat as Tenkuu Shinpan (later in the list). It's just a bloodbath of an anime, but I will give it credit that it has fanservice for both sides (they sexualize men and women). Anyways, it has a stacked seiyuu cast for something that is so incredibly mediocre.
Tada-kun wa Koi wo Shinai
He had to be replaced partway through due to his acute immune disease. However, I think he recorded it in post-production. Either way, it's a supporting character in an anime that I think wasn't worth the watch besides the banger of an opening. Masayoshi Ohishi has a knack for writing openings for romcoms (he likes romcoms himself).

Tenkuu Shinpan
I kinda want to watch this one just to turn off my brain and watch some Battle Royale-style gore.

Darling in the Franxx
Apparently, you're supposed to watch the first 12 episodes then dip, but come on, when the mechas are built like that, I'm not touching that thing. Even though it has Haruka Tomatsu and one of her most famous characters, I'm not watching it.
((It took me over 100 gifs to find one with Gorou in them despite typing in "Gorou Darling in the Franxx", and he is part of the main cast.))
Goblin Slayer
You know, for such an edgy first episode, this series is so mid at the genre it tries to take on after. Umehara said himself, "He doesn't really say much of importance." This anime has sexual violence (and it's explicit), and it's not even good.
Plunderer
I haven't watched this one, but he does star alongside his bandmate Yoshiki Nakajima. Both of them have been in better anime that is certainly not this one. I even read a chapter or two of the manga when it first started airing and went, "They're really making that, huh?"

Hmm... I haven't watched this one. It's not hard to see why, but basically, I have not reached that level of degeneracy, and if I do, someone should put me out of my misery.

Fun fact: This anime is so bad that it has a rating similar to Boku no P-- I'm not finishing that title. I obviously didn't watch this one.
Makura no Danshi
I didn't watch this one, but I saw a video on it and was near tears from laughter and despair because there's no fricking way someone made an anime about this concept AND got Masayoshi Ohishi to write an OP for it. This is the stupidest thing I've seen in a while, and just being close to it made me even more embarrassed that I watch anime. I also listened to Masayoshi's version of the OP before I knew what it was connected to or how to understand some words in Japanese. After learning its association, I was legally obligated to take that song off my playlist.

I don’t normally do long posts about my interests on here but with the mtg 30th anniversary announcements that happened today I was trying to check them on twitter and saw that they for some reason decided to not put the announcements in a thread but by responding to one post multiple times. This was really confusing to sus out the full timeline chronologically for me and my friends so I watched the actual video on youtube after it was uploaded and made a post organizing it all in order on discord and thought I’d put it here as well. As well as speculate and ramble on things I found of interest, especially on the vorthos side of things. All the stuff in order and thoughts about them under the read more:
2023 - The next set, Wilds of Eldraine, will start the next major story arc which will span the next three years of magic and be split into three smaller one year arcs starting with the “omen paths.”
Jurassic Park cards are coming to collector and set boosters of Lost caverns of Ixalan. At least a thematic crossover, neat.
Khans of Tarkir, the entire original draft set, is coming to Arena! That means fetch lands will be on Arena finally which is wild, plus a lot of nostalgic cards for me since khans block is when I started playing standard instead of just random tabletop jank with friends. The rest of the block won’t be on there but still kind of excited.
2024 - Ravnica Remastered and Ravnica Clue were both unexpected, interesting sounding at least. Dominaria remastered was a really fun set to draft and unlike time spiral it’s actually affordable and still around to be played. Hopefully RR follows suit. Ravnica Clue will also be typing into the first set proper of the year Murders of Karlov Manor, which also means it’s the first time in this post I can rant about Vorthos stuff!
First thing of note, no Teysa in any of the art revealed so far which is concerning, hope she’s not dead! Second, we’ll be seeing a Ravnica set without a guild focus, which after March makes some sense as large chunks of the under city were upheaved to the surface, the golgari guild might be... just straight up dead? And all the other guilds are recovering from what happened. The line up of characters on the above splash are are interesting though as we (going from left to right) seem to have a new character in the form of an Izzet Viashino; Aurelia, leader of the Boros; the totally inconspicuous Massacre Girl; and in center a new character who seems to be a detective using what appears to be Dimir memory magic, I knew the Boros and Azorious had detectives and while it makes sense to see one in Dimir, I believe this is the first time we’ve seen one under Dimir employ, at least based on the magic; next to him is Judith, a high ranking Rakdos performer; and finally the gobbo, the myth, the legend Krenko!
After that is going to be a set of Fallout franchise commander decks themed after the various in universe factions which joins the list of crossovers I was not expecting.
Then the next one I have a fair bit to say about, Outlaws of Thunder Junction.
Old Rutstein from innistrad has apparently crossed some Omen paths in this Wild West inspired set to put up shop. Not the legend I was expecting but I’m a sucker for Innistrad rep! The real big hitters come from the next image though:
In a line-up I never would have expected we have some ambiguous and not so ambiguous silhouettes, going from left to right again we have (heavy speculation) a large tinybones the trinket thief; more speculation, a gorgon who I dearly hope is the return of Vraska and if we’re very blessed, Jace next to her, but nothing about that person’s silhouette screams any character we know of so I’ll keep my hopes in check (but damn do I want them to return rootin and tootin if they aren’t going to be coming back on Ixalan); front and center is Oko, returning in the last set I would’ve expected and even getting the extra splash art over the gang; next to him is a new character with some claw weapons I’ll have the image of below this rant; and finally TINY RAKDOS? No idea what he’s doing outside of Ravnica but that’s unmistakably him.
The new character looks cool, and they said they did cultural consulting to avoid negative or offensive representation in the set so time will tell how well they choose to represent a fantasy version of a very dark time in history.
After that during the summer we’ll get Modern Horizons 3 which will have double faced cards. Nothing too much to say about it other than hopefully they reprint the other fetches and there’s a lady in some of the promotional art with hydra imagery that looks familiar but I can’t quite place. I want to say it’s something relating to progenitus though?
There’s going to be an Assassin’s Creed set of cards that, from how they described it, will be sold in what sounds like reskinned theme boosters for all the different games and times those games cover, which will be a new approach for universes beyond stuff. Also it will be modern legal.
Bloomburrow comes next and I adore the aesthetic! I read a lot of Rewall in my teens, I’ve been reading some of the mouse guard graphic novels when I get a chance to pick one of the books up recently. Woodland animal people is my jam. There’s a squirrel necromancer in some of the promotional art and a confirmed return of raccoons in black border! It will also feature the start of the second year long mini arc of the upcoming larger narrative, “dragon storm.”
And to wrap the year up of paper releases will be a new horror inspired plane, (also my jam) called Duskmorne.
Wrapping things up in general for the year is Pioneer masters on arena, which they’ve said will catch explorer up to all the major cards in pioneer needed to match paper tournament decklists, etc. Also they’ll be working towards bringing fnm and other lgs events into giving bonuses on Arena, such as experience, when you attend them which is something that’s good to see finally.
2025 - Starts with Innistrad remastered, I’m basic, I like Innistrad, I hope this set slaps but as with this and everything to come we don’t have much more info than a loose idea of what it will be themed after and a name/ code name.
First real set is “tennis” which is going to be a multiplaner death race spanning three different planes. Which is honestly not a concept I ever would’ve expected but the part that get my brain whirring is the fact that the three planes it will take place on will be planes we’ve already seen before, two that have had full standard sets but no returns before, and one which has been featured on cards but never given a set before. Speculating on what those could be is wild because the sets without returns could be anything from newer planes like Amonkhet to Capenna, to older planes like Ulgrotha or Mercadia. The third plane though has a lot of fun possibility, they could troll us with finally showing more of Vrynn, it could have Regatha, Shandalar, Segovia, or some other niche random plane. My most out there bet though is based on one of the concept arts for the dragsters having a spirit and skull motif possibly being Ulgrotha based, anything past that, sky’s the limit.
Afterwards is “ultimate frisbee” and we’re finally returning to Tarkir! They stated they’ll be looking to join the best of what people loved about khans and dragons and since dragons of tarkir was a major part of what made me take up the game, I’m excited.
Then is the big summer set for Final Fantasy. They said it will be a tent-pole set like lotr was this year which means a full draft set, it will also be coming to arena, plus presumably commander decks etc., and they’ll be making cards covering all the mainline numbered final fantasy titles. (so no crystal chronicles rep 😔) To be honest I’m really surprised they’re going to try and cover that much in a single set with a couple supplementals. But the thing that was most exciting to me about the announcement was that the arena lead stated that following what they saw with lotr, they expect it to bring in a lot of new players and want to create things on arena that better suit newer players playstyles, since 1v1 competitive is seen to be off putting for a lot newcomers. So they are hoping to implement content either around the time the set comes out or in the year following with some amount of single player content, achievements, and if possible multiplayer modes, which has been asked for for so long at this point and said it wasn’t in the cards, I hope they can deliver on it.
After that starts the final miniarc and beginning of the end of the next major arc with “Volleyball,” a space opera inspired plane, the concept art seems interesting, no idea what to expect overall.
Next is “wrestling” which will be the return to Lorwyn/Shadowmoor. Honestly so glad to hear there will be a return, the vibes and aesthetic of the original block is sublime, I adore it. Going to be interesting to see how they cram so many sets worth of ideas and identities into a single set but they also stated they’ll be taking the kamigawa approach so who knows how much they’ll keep themselves beholden to.
2026 - The two last sets they announced are in vision design, there’s nothing they could show or talk much of outside of basic “here’s the idea.”
First is “Yachting” which will be a return to Strixhaven/ Arcavios, I can only hope with less complexity creep than the first time. And finally “Ziplining” which will be the finale set for the big arc ala War of the Spark or March of the Machine.

i wanted to give this a proper title but really it's just an addendum to my pudding & sanji as frenemies propaganda lmao
i'm gonna skip the wci arc as i already talked about it, just as a general note in my canon pudding erases a whole lot memories of her from sanji's mind. while she's affectionate toward him, she has no romantic feelings. her crying in the hallway happens because by that point she's quite literally the only traitor left on the island - she can't escape because bm needs her for her powers but also knows the woman won't be so kind about the disrespect
technically they're still married. it doesn't matter as it's not like they'll get together at any point but since divorce as an institution doesn't exist, there is this loose end. pudding will never mention it as she believes it's not relevant to her life choices. doesn't want to be referred as vinsmoke or black leg for that matter, mention those names to her and she will stare blankly pretending not to know who that is. she will however take a page from sanji's book and give herself a brand new last name at some point after finding the one piece
i know fandom loves to pit women against each other but i think pudding would lowkey push nami into pursuing sanji eventually. in her mind they seem good for each other in a way that doesn't feel like trauma bonding, you know. as a matter of fact i think pudding and nami would be good friends and she'd be someone pud trusts during her time with the SH
pudding has the habit to be in places she shouldn't be, except that nothing of what she does is random and it's her fatal flaw. she crosses paths with the SH plenty of times after finding the one piece, mostly because they always get in trouble and she's traveling around following the voices. does she keep tabs on them? possibly. she considers them allies, so in most cases she will lend an helpful hand and then dip before they can get all mushy on her
on that note... i headcanon that while no romantic feelings are involved due to pudding making sure all those memories are cut and hidden away, throughout the years she and sanji meet up to have ONE (1) dinner to catch up and then everyone is on their own way. it probably happens once a year, they cook things, share and swap recipes, stuff like this. pudding will never talk too much about her business - she might be reformed but a part of her will always dabble in the darkness as it's part of the balance of all things. she will however give him leads about treasures she's heard of. [ when i think of them i imagine the song bells in santa fe, ngl ]
speaking of memories, pudding still has the film from sanji's memories. whether she gives it back or not eventually is up to plotting, but generally speaking i think she'd rather not for the fact that then they'd have to talk about... everything, which is not really something she wants to do. while she hasn't used memo memo on him since then, she can hear him loud and clear through her third eye powers and absolutely hates it. she probably told him too!
if wci / final arc pudding is more akin to alice in terms of character development, post op pudding is lowkey the cheshire cat. the more years pass the more different she looks. it's a good type of change even though it basically makes her look like an hermit most of the time. on a good day she might be sentimental enough to share some wisdom with him on whatever occasion they cross paths. she loves to speak to him in riddles just to mess around and that's really the only sign of her teen self left
post op pudding has a vivre card, and it looks like a queen of hearts card from any deck. she's given sanji a piece of it mostly because "you can never know" but also told him to not pester her, so you see where she stands. she is however always available through den den mushi for serious talks or mildly tough advices
at some point pudding has written a children's book called tales from the all blue which are basically a collection of stories she's heard from sea creatures. at the very first page there's a dedication that says may our dreams carry us throughout the darkest times. this is probably the most openly affectionate she's been toward him

Rating TWST Events based on how much I enjoyed it [Part 1]
So there won't be a particular order to this, I'll just do all the events I remember playing by memory, and since I'm from the JP server this will contain events that aren't released yet in ENG server so once again skip this post if you don't wanna get spoiled
(Also there might be some events where I might use the JP name or ENG name, it just depends on what I remember)
Ghost Marriage

I played the version where Ghost Marriage Idia and Lilia were released, in which holy shit I went insane with how handsome Idia looked in his card AND LILIA'S VIGNETTE WITH SILVER AND SEBEK FIGHTING OVER THE COLOR OF HIS SUIT????? LIKE THE SLEEPING BEAUTY REFERENCE I SEE YOU
The only other card I have aside from Idia is literally R Rook cuz I got too lazy to grind for everyone else 😀
But story wise, it was funny and really enjoyable

I was honestly so confused when I started playing this event, but thankfully I got help and managed to finish the event on time
The only thing I despise about this event is the rhythmic and that one swiping tile that kept wrecking my combo
Ya'll don't know about the many times I raged over that tile cuz my run was going smooth (like butter) THEN BOOM COMBO BROKEN CUZ OF THAT TILE

Beanfest (Part 1) (I forgot the name of both the parts tbh so yeah we using beanfest for this)

I don't really remember much from this event and I kinda spedran it so yeah
All I remember was just that random drop of lore where Leona and Malleus worked together to take Rook out
I completely forgot which specific part of beanfest was that lore dropped but please correct me if I'm wrong here

Halloween Part 1: Scary Monsters

Okay so when Scary Monsters first came to JP, that's when I was new to the game, and I was able to finish like 0.01% of the event but thankfully they had a rerun so I had my little redemption arc
I managed to get all the free cards in that event and Lilia from the banners (I was still new and testing out some new things so I pulled out of curiousity)
I actually love this event and the lore they gave us with how the boys deal with outsiders
BUT HOLY SHIT IS IT TIRING TO GRIND 😭😭😭
I almost had a grind burn out but I survived
Halloween Part 2: Scary Monsters Endless Halloween
9.2/10
I absolutely loved playing this event cuz we get to see different character dynamics and all that stuff (I loved Leona's babysitting services and Jamil's done with everyone's bs group)
AND THE WAY ENG HANDLED THIS EVENT THOUGH???
LIKE SEEING IT TRANSLATED IN ENG JUST MADE ME GO

Assy McGee #9: “Mile High Mayhem” | April 21, 2008 - 12:30AM | S02E03
I think I’m back on board with Assy McGee. The first episode of the season was a bit of a dud for me, but this and last week’s episodes were fairly decent.
This episode starts off with a little cold open showing a group of tourists on a hot air balloon. They suspect the kindly-looking Muslim couple of being terrorists and decide to rush them. They all run at them but wind up going overboard. The hot air balloon operator just gratuitously shoves the Muslim couple out of the basket, drinks some beer, and then leaps out of the basket backwards, yelling “woo hoo!”. In the background you can see the bisected top half of a man clutching balloons, a callback to episode 3.
No full opening this week; just a brief title card. The first post-opening scene is a recruitment film for being a US Air Marshal, appealing to officers who have nothing left in their lives and are actively depressed. I’m guessing this explains why the hot air balloon operator jumped off; he was also a marshal. Assy volunteers him and Sanchez, even though Sanchez doesn’t have “nothing to lose”, having a family and all that. Later we see the Chief is having an affair with his wife and using Sanchez’s participation in the Air Marshal program to his advantage.
This follows the typical formula pretty closely; Assy is tasked to find a criminal. He acts very recklessly, violently attacking random innocent people. It turns out that one of the people he harasses actually is the person they were trying to arrest. While in the air, Assy sexually harasses one particular stewardess. When a passenger tries to get him to stop, Assy beats him up and then shoots a hole in the airplane, causing it to go down. The stewardess who rebuked him is seen in the back of an ambulance, basically alright. Assy announces “I gotta tie up some loose ends” and just goes up and shoots her dead. When asked why later, he just says “she wouldn't have sex with me”.
Just showing wantonly violent misogyny like this would be a tough sell these days, despite the ironic or satirical intent behind it. This show’s obscurity does make this feel like some kind of dirty little secret. I’m saying all this is a person who likes and appreciates it. I don’t even feel like I can dispute the critics of irony. It’s probably a pretty useless tool when it comes to forms of satire or commentary. It can be misinterpreted pretty easily, so at best you can only garner understanding from a choir you're preaching to. At worst you’re creating a legion of All in the Family fans who unironically like the stuff Archie Bunker says. I still gravitate towards irony because my sense of humor hasn’t really changed since twelfth grade.
Oh, yeah, I should mention this. There’s a parody of the Geico caveman ad, where the caveman sees an insulting advertisement on the wall at the airport. Sanchez sees an ad for “Fat Guy Insurance”.

Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! - Season One DVD (April 22, 2008)
One of my favorite Adult Swim DVD releases. The Awesome Show DVD releases are generally very good. This is the only one to have commentary on every episode. There’s also deleted and extended scenes, bloopers, and other stuff.
This is one of the few Adult Swim releases I actually have a clear memory of buying. I worked at Borders books and ordered it through my store so I could have it mere days earlier.
There was this one manager who DESPISED ME; we had such a bad personality clash that I could do NOTHING in her eyes to convince her that I was a good worker. I was scolded by her constantly, and if I tried to course-correct I’d get scolded for doing the opposite. No balancing act pleased her at all, and I was forced to conclude she just didn’t like me. One time I was the victim of medical malpractice, and missed work after undergoing emergency surgery, and she scolded me for not getting a second opinion since I burdened the store with my absence.
The ONLY pleasant conversation we EVER HAD: she saw this DVD, and asked me about it, saying that it looked weird and funny. I told her about Tim & Eric. I have no idea if she followed up on it; if she did she probably decided it wasn’t for her. It’s likely she didn’t. But for about five minutes we had a nice conversation, and almost had something in common. And that’s just from the COVER of the DVD.

Amamiya Ren Verses
~Main Timeline Verses~
Getting Out There: The main verse. Encapsulates the period from the beginning of the main game to the end of Strikers. This is also the default tag for anything without a definite verse or for minor AUs without their own dedicated verses.
Life Keeps Changing (Post-Strikers Ren): What could be more stressful than saving the world from false gods? College. Having returned to Tokyo for university, Ren now has to deal with establishing himself as a functioning adult. Frankly, there are times when he’d rather be getting beaten up by shadows again.
Inaba Blues (Kid Ren): Growing up in a rural town sucks. You have to deal with puberty, school, bullies, a series of strange murders and kidnappings, and your favorite department store getting a new mascot that creeps you the fuck out.
~Alternate Uni-Verses~
The Devil with 22 Faces (Palace Ruler Ren): An alternative course of events for Royal’s third seminar. After defeating Yaldabaoth, Ren inadvertently absorbs the god’s power into himself. Overwhelmed, Ren suffers a mental breakdown and manifests his own palace over Tokyo. In his corrupted mental state, Ren believes that control and order are the source of all suffering, and that true happiness can only be achieved through absolute chaos. He seeks to create a reality with no rules; where anyone can do or be anything and no one needs to hide their true self.
His palace manifests as a brightly colored, cell-shaded, comic book-esque Tokyo that twists and warps at random. Areas he frequents, like Yongen-Jaya or Shibuya Square, are more stable than places he doesn’t, since he has a clearer image of them in their mind. Also present in these places are fragments of Ren’s shadow. These shadows all wear full-face masks that each show an expression relevant to their location (ie a customer service smile at places where he works)

A Not-So-Gentle Gentleman Detective (Justice Ren): An arcana-swapped version of Ren, taking Akechi’s role in the story. After a series of unfortunate events earlier in his life, Ren ends up under the thumb of Shido. He plays the role of the friendly Gentleman Detective on the surface, but acts as the Black-Hooded Assassin behind the scenes, all while secretly plotting his revenge.

What's a King to a God (Pride Ren): A part of the larger Another Story swap au, Ren takes the role of Shido. He's the head of a large business empire, and now he's turned his sights on becoming prime minister. He has the whole country under his thumb, but he wants more.

Two Pair (Twin Ren): Twin au with @learcarum's Akira. Between the two of them, Ren always found himself being second best. While he loves his twin dearly, he can't help but resent and envy him.
Reflection of the True Self (Demon Ren): Due to the strange inner-workings of the Metaverse, Ren finds himself physically fused with Arsene. While to the average person, he looks no different than before, to those aware of the Metaverse, the giant pair of wings and demonic horns are unmistakable.
Welcome to the Velvet Room (Attendant Ren): It’s stated that anyone who enters the Velvet Room must first form a contract. Doing so grants one the power of the Wild Card, but what do you have to give up in exchange? After the Phantom Thieves plan to prevent Ren’s assassination fails; a new attendant appears in the Velvet Room. This attendant, Adrien, looks suspiciously like Ren, but has no memories prior to awakening in the space between dreams and reality.
Just Call Me Lupin the Fourth (Real Thief Ren): Palaces? Metaverse? Never heard of her! The Infamous ‘Kaitou Joker’ is too busy stealing stuff in the real world (with the help of his talking cat) to worry about changing anyone’s heart. After all, there’s no need to make someone confess their crimes if you just steal the evidence. Plus he might get a chance to swipe their rare jewel collection while he’s at it.
A Prince’s Loyal Knight (Traitor Ren): Instead of going through with the Phantom Thieves’ plan to outwit Akechi’s November assassination, Ren makes the choice to betray his friends and team up with his would-be killer. Under Development
