Hot take: Overblot Jamil keeping the reader behind as a pet/slave is pre-relationship.
Jamil's whole thing in a romantic relationship is equality and freedom. He wants to spoil and be spoiled. He wants his s/o safe and happy. His biggest fantasy is them loving a blissful domestic life in their own little home away from all the obligations and troubles of the world.
Jamil spent his whole life being treated as lesser and being denied his freedom. He would drop dead before even thinking of treating his s/o the same way. This is the person who has fully accepted every bit of him and given every bit of themselves in return. No way would Jamil, overblot or not, ever try to abuse that. In his eyes, his s/o deserves the universe. They're his partner, his queen, his rani, his sultana.
And this goes triple for his Overblot. Jamil who's at that stage where he is 10000% comfortable and smitten by his s/o would rip his own heart out before daring to enslave his love.
Instead, OB Jamil is rejoicing at finally having the means to grant the luxury he feels his s/o deserves. He's crowning them the Sultana of Scarabia, hosting elaborate feasts with their favorites, dressing them in fine silk designs fit for royalty (aka not a harem girl). Jamil knows his s/o very well and does everything to keep them comfortable and happy.
And that's why it's so hard to want to reason with him. Not because of some porno "he's so mean but he's hot" situation. But because OB!Jamil is still Jamil. He still cuddles, pampers, teases, and shows his unyielding love for them. Only difference is that he no longer has any embarrassment or fluster holding him back. He doesn't care if all of Scarabia is watching him, if he wants to kiss them he gets to kiss them. Honestly it's kind of cute how he shamelessly pouts for their affection. Any manipulation towards them is a familiar and light hearted attempt at getting their attention.
The only consistent argument his s/o has for him is that the overblot will kill him and they can't stand the thought of loosing him.

My reply got kinda long again so putting it behind a read more again.
I feel like this depends a lot on where Jamil is as a person when the overblot happens. And, well, if we’re going for the canonical overblot, that was not exactly a high point for his emotional wellbeing and all - not that an overblot ever is. So by definition, it already is a point where the existing rules start to crack, and once the overblot hits, it really is arguable just how much they're in control of themselves at that point.
Though it is true that it is still their feelings and thoughts and desires moving them at least somewhat, just potentially twisted by the overblot itself and/or the emotional anguish they're usually going through at that point as well.
I’m curious, do you have any particular basis on saying that equality and freedom would be the cornerstones in a relationship for Jamil? Simply because (romantic) relationships are not talked about much in twst, and with Jamil especially I have a hard time figuring out what exactly it might be that he wants, what he’d come to value over time, and what might “do good” to him even if he might not recognize it or be aware of it himself.
Though I certainly agree, being on equal footing with his s/o would be good for him. Someone he can rely on and trust in, and where they can lean on each other. A true partner rather than someone who’s above or below.
But there is also that part of him that enjoys feeling powerful, that wants to climb that ladder to not being the one just taking the orders anymore. And especially with being under the influence of the overblot, I could see that extending to his partner as well. Like, at that point he really might think that what he wants is the adoration and the submission, to finally get those things he’s been craving, even from the person he’d normally consider his partner and equal.
Though yeah, this also really does depend on what would trigger the overblot in this scenario. Like with the right circumstances, I could definitely see him going for this more adoring scenario you described. I mean, for book 6 (I really hope this isn’t spoilers for you), we saw what an overblot is like when it is born from anguish over another, rather than from more “personal” issues. So it is not that the overblot has the characters necessarily acting in a purely selfish manner, even if most of them pretty much have. Idia, however, was very much doing everything in his power for Ortho after the overblot - selfish, still, in a way, but not in the same way as the others who were basically lashing out at everyone. So it definitely could happen.
And all this being said, I do absolutely love the idea of a Jamil who’s not holding back and is going all out pampering his s/o and letting the world know just how much they mean to him. I mean, it definitely would be the s/o's turn to be the one flustered in that scenario, and it indeed would definitely make it a little harder to give that all up and to persuade him that, you know, the overblot indeed is kinda deadly.
Just, him doing all those things he’s always wanted to do, but which he’s always stopped himself from doing (consciously or even subconsciously, or simply because it has not been practically possible). It really would be kinda sweet - if not also a little unsettling in some way to have him act so out of his usual character.
(Tho ngl, personally, I could also go for the “if evil why hot” approach because, well, that’s delicious too. So many potential avenues here.)
Also hadsf the thought of him in all his overblot glory and then just pouting because you’re not paying attention to him. An amusing image indeed.
Imagine this caring, shameless overblot Jamil when he thinks someone is threatening his s/o, tho. Ngl, I kinda love that idea, too (I mean, also concerning because even more blot, but you know).
I hope it doesn’t feel like I’m arguing against you too much with these, or anything like that. I feel like we approach Jamil from somewhat different angles, and so I kinda have to work my way through what I think is going on in his head before I can really start thinking about the scenario itself.

!! CHAPTER 7 / DIASOMNIA ARC SPOILERS !!
Damn we are eating a lot (Part 2):
During the battle, Baul is shooked on how Silver and Sebek are good at dealing with horses to which Sebek replies that they're part fo the equestrian club so it's a natural thing for them
Yuu and Grim were about to get attacked by an Iron Man but Lilia comes in to defend them. BUT THEN LILIA PROCEEDS TO SMACK SILVER AND SEBEK BEING ALL "This is why I hate children 😒" 😭😭😭
After the battle we reach the castle (which is the castle in the Sleeping Beauty movie) AND THEN WE SEE THE KNIGHT OF DAWN
Anyways going back to the topic, we also get Henric, who is pretty much going "Meleanor if you don't get out of that castle right now we'll invade the castle together with the Knight of Dawn" AND JESUS FUCK HIS SPRITE 💀

It turns out the Knight of Dawn doesn't want any part of this either, cuz Henric wants Meleanor's magic orb and dragon egg (aka Malleus) since they're really precious things
Idk what's up with this chapter and their thing for turning characters into orphans cuz the Knight of Dawn is also an orphan adopted by the king 🧍♀️, and Henric tells him that if he can steal the orb maybe it could save the king and Leah
We then see Meleanor, WHO IS A FUCKING BADDIE SO DAMN REAL TWST YKNOW HOW MUCH I LOVE YOUR WOMEN 😍😍😍
WE ALSO SEE EGG MALLEUS AWWWW
Meleanor tells them that she was planning to take a nap with the egg but useless people interrupted that, and she refers to the egg as Malleus already 🥹. Lilia is just confused and asks how is she sure that the egg is a boy, in which Meleanor replies that a mother is always sure and knows that Malleus will grow up to be beautiful like his father, Leverne
But then she sees Sebek and Silver and makes them get down on their knees (MAAM I'LL ALSO GET DOWN ON MY KNEES FOR YOU 🧎♀️🧎♀️🧎♀️), she then goes on about how humans are weak and stuff. Lilia tries to defend them but Baul tells us about Meleanor's hatred for humans and that we might as well stay quiet
But then Lilia loses his shit as well and tries to tell Meleanor about the danger that's just waiting outside but Meleanor refuses, saying that she wants to fight because she's a mother who wants to protect egg Malleus (I swear I can't this update is making me cry 😭). So she tells everyone to escape with the egg while she fights the Knight of Dawn and we get this scene of Lilia holding on to egg Malleus
Meleanor tells them to leave but Lilia refuses. So out of anger, she zaps him which causes everyone to panic cuz he has the egg and Silver tries to stop it but Meleanor gets even more mad that she zaps him too like jesus this woman and her anger issues. Silver tries to plead with them to stop fighting because people who love each other don't fight
Meleanor replies that even if she doesn't make it, Malleus is still there. But Lilia tells her that Malleus can't hatch without the true love of a parent. BUT THEN WE GET THIS REVEAL THAT LILIA PROPOSED TO MELEANOR 200 YEARS AGO AND HE ALSO LOVED LEVERNE LIKE LILIA MELEANOR LEVERNE POLY RELATIONSHIP IS FUCKING REAL. Meleanor reassures Lilia that he will find a way to love Malleus since he also loved her and Leverne 🥹
She then summons thorns that drags Lilia and the rest away from the castle, saying her final goodbye to both Lilia and Malleus (I'm crying rn guys). Lilia tries to find a way back in to save Meleanor but Baul yells at him to calm down cuz he was still holding egg Malleus, and that Meleanor trusted them to protect the egg
Meleanor makes her appearance to the Knight of Dawn and Silver Owls, which starts another battle....

!! CHAPTER 7 / DIASOMNIA ARC SPOILERS !!
I am literally crying right now guys but let's get through this (Part 3):
We see Meleanor perish right in front of our eyes just like how Prince Philip slayed dragon Maleficent
Lilia, Baul and our main gang are now travelling underground but then a hole forms above and the Knight of Dawn falls through, more collision happens which causes the Knight to save Lilia and everyone is just confused like why is the enemy suddenly saving them???? Until they get a look at the Knight's face
(I swear ya'll when I saw this for the first time I was laughing so hard cuz I understand how Silver feels since I'm also a carbon copy of my dad but in female form)
That's when Silver realizes that the Knight was his biological father, and he was related to the Silver Owls who caused Malleus and Lilia to suffer, WHICH ABSOLUTELY DEVASTATES HIM NOOO BABY
The darkness starts swallowing Silver, but Sebek and Yuu jump in to save him which lands us inside of his heart, and we have to fight the darkness from within. Silver realizes that the Knight of Dawn also carried the same ring he carries today, as he wanders into the darkness he wonders if Sebek hates him after finding out his origins 😭. That's when he says he should stay in the dream DON'T BABY WE STILL LOVE YOU
We then witness a series of old memories that will end with us crying for mercy over this found family

!! CHAPTER 7 / DIASOMNIA ARC SPOILERS !!
I am not in the mood to study so yeah (Part 3):
The senate (which are just these 3 floaty thingies) start to blame him for Meleanor's death and they punish him by banning him from the capital (which makes Silver and Sebek realize why Lilia can't do certain things). BUT BAD NEWS GUYS THE BLOT IS BACK and it's forming around Lilia with him muttering that he'll join them (Meleanor and Leverne) soon...
All of a sudden the ring (yknow the one Silver has) teleports them to another old memory, taking place 10 years after the war where Lilia was secretly called by Maleficia. Apparently Malleus eggo stopped accepting her magic and that direct touch and love would be more efficient
Baul wants Lilia to travel to various to find ways to hatch Malleus eggo and also reminds Lilia of Meleanor's last words where if she's gone, Lilia will be the one in charge of hatching him (as well as acting like a married couple with Leverne OKAYYYYYY)
Lilia tells the eggo that if he ends up in the stars before Lilia returns, eggo's parents are going to scold him so he asks Malleus to hold on AND MOTHERFUCKER
Lilia travels around the world, but everytime he brings up the egg people immediately shum him out, saying that dragons only exist in fairy tales. But every time Lilia comes back to Malleus eggo, Baul notices that the magic increases. Then Lilia suddenly brings up that Meleanor was a picky eater while Leverne was a honor student but in reality the dude hid his veggies under the table 😭😭😭
A rumor goes around that there was a castle holding dragons so Lilia goes to check it out, but he was too late. He then breaks down asking if anyone knew how to hatch the egg until magic suddenly overflows and boom we got the origin story of Lilia's UM. He uses this to his advantage to find more research to hatch Malleus
200 years has passed and Lilia was succesful
MALLEUS COMES TO LIFE LET'S GOOOOO (AND LEONA WAS RIGHT HE DOES LOOK LIKE A LIZARD (AFFECTIONATE))
Lilia breaks down cuz after 200 YEARS MAN HE FINALLY DID IT , MALLEUS GAVE HIM HOPE 🥹
Silver finally understands why the dream turned out like this, Lilia lost everyone but his happiest moment was bringing Malleus to life. The senate praise Lilia for being a hero but something happens
OVERBLOT MALLEUS IS BACK AYEEEEEEEEEEEE I MISS YOU BOO
LILIA LOOKS AT OB MALLEUS AND THOUGHT IT SOUNDED LIKE LEVERNE BUT MALLEUS LOOKS LIKE MELEANOR
Malleus pretty much goes nuts here because the senate and Maleficia were lying to him. He then asks Lilia what dream does he want: One where Meleanor and Leverne lived or something else that makes him happy BUT SILVER AND SEBEK MANAGE TO INTERVENE AND SNAP LILIA BACK TO REALITY YEYYYYYY
With Lilia now back to us, the group proceeds to run away but while that was happening Lilia mentioned this
Then Silver promises Lilia that they will meet again and activates his UM BUT THEN A HOLGRAM OF ORTHO APPEARS TO THEM
THEY'RE ALL BACK AND IGNIHYDE WITH IDIA SAYING "time for the main event~~~~" LET'S GOOO THE SHROUD BROS ARE BACK BABY
Manifesting real hard for the next update being the Shroud bros segment cuz if you think about it Idia didn't need any assistance to escape the dream LIKE BRO ACCEPTED THE FACT HIS BROTHER IS DEAD AND THAT'S HARD
This was surprisingly short (or maybe I was rushing) with only 3 parts but hope you guys enjoyed it!!

Here are some details we can get with the new update so far (Part 5):
When I said that Lilia is a bad cook, even Baul and Mallenoa don't want any of it 💀🤚
Lilia, Mallenoa and Levan are revealed to be childhood friends. We get a story from Lilia that they once flew together until dawn and got lost, but luckily got found by imperial guards
NAHHH NOT LILIA SAYING HE HATES CHILDREN cuz they're messy and a lot of work and he knows he's going to babysit Malleus once he's out of the egg (Oh Lilia if only you knew what life is going to throw at you)
Lilia really used Silver as bait for one of the battles im gonna cry 😭
SILVER WAS ABOUT TO GET ATTACKED BY THOSE BIG WHITE ROBOT THINGS BUT LILIA TOOK THE HIT FOR HIM
AND WHEN BAUL ASKED WHY'D HE DO THAT LILIA SAID HIS BODY MOVED OWN ITS OWN (stop i am not okay 🤚)
A goon reports back to the group that Henric and then Knight of Dawn are nowhere to be seen, turns out it was a setup done by the Silver Owls
YOU'RE TELLING ME THIS IS IT FOR NOW???? NOT ANOTHER CLIFFHANGER 😭😭😭

!! CHAPTER 7 / DIASOMNIA ARC SPOILERS !!
WE CAN GET THROUGH THIS GUYS LET'S GO (Part 4):
While Silver is in the darkness, he then sees Lilia's old memories. The first one is of Lilia visiting Wild Rose Castle after a peace treaty was made, this takes place 300 to 400 years after the events of Meleanor's death
While walking through the abandoned castle, Lilia hears a cry in the throne room. He rushes there to find a baby, and not just any baby IT'S BABY SILVER WHICH REVEALS THE FIRST CG IN THE GAME 🥹
(SILVER BEING TWISTED FROM AURORA IS REALLLLL)
Of course Lilia wondering why the hell is there a baby in the abandoned castle uses his Unique Magic on it. Thus revealing his UM "Far Cry Cradle", this allows him to see the past memories of someone who gets hit with the spell. This is how he finds out that the baby is actually the son of the Knight of Dawn and Princess Leah, while the war was happening 3 fairies blessed the baby by making him sleep through the war, even if it will last 10 to 100 years (well it went beyond 100 years). Once the little prince finds someone who loves him (or in other words true love), he will awaken from slumber; AND IT WAS LILIA WHO APPEARED WHICH CAUSED BABY SILVER TO WAKE UP WHICH IM JUST AAAAAAAAAA 😭😭😭
We can't forget that present time Silver is watching all of this happen, and noticed Lilia having mixed feelings about the whole thing. He (Lilia) tries to kill the baby after finding out he was the child of the enemy, but couldn't bring himself to do it. Lilia then asks himself if he can even love a human being? After losing his loved ones to them, and everything that happened. Which causes Silver to scream at Lilia that he doesn't deserve love (STOP SILVER IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT)
Lilia then tells baby Silver that the day he finds him will be his birthday (which is May 15th), and blesses him. This explains why Silver has silver hair despite being born blonde. Lilia also names the baby Silver because of the moon that shines through the night, which serves as a light to light up the path
We then move to another flashback, now this time it features Malleus. We see the cottage that present time Silver grew up in (which is like the cottage from the movie)
While Lilia is singing a lullaby to baby Silver (the same one Meleanor sang to egg Malleus), Malleus comes in cuz he overheard from the fairies that Lilia found a human. Then Malleus proceeds to call baby Silver A NAKED MONKEY CREATURE NAHHH 💀🤚
We also have to remember that Lilia didn't know shit about taking care of a human, much more a baby, so he visits Baul's daughter and son-in-law (Sebek's Mother and Father) for advice. Lilia then tells Malleus he's going out to get baby supplies and leaves Malleus with Silver, but Malleus is afraid that he might destroy Silver if he holds him (aww that's cute 🥹) but Lilia still leaves him behind regardless
Baby Silver wakes up to Malleus and starts crying and Malleus is now wondering if lullabies can help put it (yes he referred to the baby as "it") to sleep. He then hums to the baby the only lullaby he knows, which is the same lullaby is mother sang to him (I forgot to mention that whoops). This is the same lullaby Malleus sang when he placed the sleeping curse on everyone in part 3. Baby Silver falls asleep to it and Malleus is relieved, hoping for Lilia to come back soon but also wonders where he heard that lullaby before
We then see more flashbacks of Silver growing up, from his first time walking and his first words (which is "Dada/Father")(Edit: got this wrong by accident sorry guys). We also learn more about faes from here as well, it takes 30 years for a fae child to learn how to walk, but for the case of Malleus it took him 20 years to have a 2 legged form
Malleus then asked Lilia why he decided to take the baby in and Lilia respond that Malleus's father, Leverne said that Fae and Human should learn more about each other, thus learning a language that humans can understand. Lilia wants to learn how to love humans through Silver, but Malleus is like "but what if you can't", he replies with "let's not jump to conclusions"
STOP YOUNGER SILVER CALLS LILIA "TOTO" MY HEART CAN'T HANDLE THIS. WE ALSO FIND OUT THAT THE ACORN BRACELET WAS SILVER'S GIFT TO LILIA (since it symbolizes living a long and healthy life). He (Younger Silver) also says "I love you Toto!" (Guys what if this my last straw 😭). One more memory we see is Silver running away from home after finding out him and Lilia aren't related (in reference to his 1st birthday card)
Back to present time Silver, he thinks that he doesn't deserve to be called Lilia's son because his true origins is that of the son of the Knight of Dawn, this causes him to take on his biological father's form and General Lilia appears before him, saying he's the enemy (BUT IT'S ALL NOT REAL)
Thus a battle between the two begins, until present time Lilia suddenly appears; telling Silver to stand up and stay alive 😭
This end Silver's segment of the story, but we can't forget about Sebek, Yuu and Grim

!! CHAPTER 7 / DIASOMNIA ARC SPOILERS !!
Hey guys I just got home and since I wanna procrastinate this is the first thing we will do
Now let's get to it (Part 1):
Picking up from where we left off, Lilia is now injured and they need to use a teleportation spell to get to the castle, but because of their state right now they can't so they have to get back on foot
The group wants to help out but Baul tells them to quit it, since they're just humans; they have no reason to fight alongside them. But Silver persists saying that he does have a reason to fight, because Lilia saved him, thus owing him (Lilia) his life, and it's not just about the humans and faes, Sebek agrees to this as well
They then start looking for brooms to use as transportation and while doing so, hear noises underground. That's when it was revealed to be 2 human chefs hiding from the chaos. They confuse Silver as "that guy" but they realize it's not him cuz his hair color is different. That's when Silver asked them for brooms, and while that was happening Sebek's stomach started growling 😭 and then everyone started looking at him BUT THEN HE STARTED TO BLAME YUU BEING ALL "THAT WASN'T ME" BUT SILVER DIDN'T BELIEVE HIM LMAOOOO
And yeah the two chefs (who are a married couple) offered to feed the group, in which Silver thanks them and the female chef comments how he (Silver) looks a lot like "him" but before Silver can ask Sebek interrupts them by asking where their storeroom
The group then heads there until Silver hears something and the group stops to see caged owls and pigeons, Sebek tells them that back in the day, people used birds to pass messages. Silver then feeds the birds bread which is once again very disney princess behavior. Stop not Grim saying something about birds not tasting good when Sebek thought of an idea about using the birds. But in reality, the plan Sebek has is for Silver to use his animal skills (aka disney princess powers) to communicate to the other birds about the trap in the Wild Rose Castle
Baul tries to stop them, but the group was really insistent about getting the job done. When Lilia asked Baul what are they up to, Baul tells him that they're doing his job; that's when Lilia gets up (despite being injured) to get their ass 💀
Once they get to the forest, Silver uses the animals to distract the Iron Men which is pretty much that one scene from Shrek with Snow White pulling the same trick on the guards 😭. That's when the battle begins....

!! CHAPTER 7 / DIASOMNIA ARC SPOILERS !!
Here are some details we can get with the new update so far (Part 2):
Lilia allows the group to go with him under the condition that they will fight as well, Silver then mentions to the others that we need to be careful since he doesn't know what happens when someone dies in a dream
A new battle system is introduced, which is similar to the tartarus battles in Chapter 6 (ah yes more suffering)
It was also mentioned that there were no "Knights of Dawn" when the group reached the human campsite
When the group were fighting the Silver Owls, they revealed a name "Henric" (don't know who that guy is yet btw)
Turns out that even in the past Lilia was still a bad cook 💀 (dude tried to roast mice)
It is also revealed by Lilia that they have more delicate tounges so it's easy for them to tell if something funny was added into the food
One of Lilia's homescreen lines mentions that he was taken in as an orphan by the queen thus having loyalty to her....(so like father like son) and this is probably also the reason why he doesn't seem to remember his actual birthday
Malleus mother namedrop (her name is Mallenoa), and she's expecting a child to hatch from her egg (and Sebek knowing it's Malleus calls him egg-sama 🥹)
Anyways Mallenoa is a badass as she commands the imperial guards
Malleus agedrop as of the current time he is 178 years old (quite young)

Let's get into some theory talk rn guys cuz why not (I'm totally not procrastinating):
In reference to this post, I remember this one theory I read on twt about someone analyzing the RSA logo and its possible connections to the Silver Owls
Which I wanna connect to another theory where NRC could possibly be made in honor of Briar Valley (this is reflected in one of the backgrounds from Diasomnia dorm looking similar to that of Wild Rose Castle and the theory of Meleanor's soul residing in the dark mirror)
It could be possible that RSA was made in honor of Silver's biological family while NRC was made in honor of Briar Valley (leaning onto to the Crowley is Leverne theories here but it just makes sense yknow), and if we also include the speculation that Silver's family knew Ambrose the First, is he aware about Silver's existence? Considering the fact that Silver is a 400+ year old baby it could be possible that them knowing his existence would continue down all the way to Ambrose the 63rd, the current headmaster of RSA.
This is because we find out that 3 fairies blessed Silver to fall asleep and will only wake up under the condition of true love. If all of these Ambroses (im tired ya'll I still gotta do my group research paper after this) knew that there is still one survivor left of the Royalty in the Land of Dawn, are they perhaps searching for the lost prince? If the current Ambrose finds out about Silver in NRC, could this lead to a bigger dispute between the rivaling schools?
(This is just me manifesting we get a Silver in RSA arc, a girl can dream)
