Hello author. I hope your having a splendid day
May I request a reader x batfamily ( a year younger than Damian)
They are a Demi god of lightning and electricity.
He has been having a hard time with cases and failing and stuff like that, too much pressure. And he’s kind of hitting his breaking point.
So during a fight with a villain, alone. The villain corrupts the reader and makes him evil.
For a few months he became a villain and barely anyone could stop him. The batfamily at first didn’t know it was him but during a mission that was orders by the villain that corrupted him, to kill Althea (your oc) but Althea got away with injures but saw his face and told her mom and her mom told bats.
So with this new information the batfamily were more devastated .
With the help of the justice league the batfamily are in a show down with the reader, somewhere near a cliff and they fight and while also talking about their memories together. Reader was too powerful though and restrains everyone with use his electricity. His eyes are red and with dead eyes he walks towards any batfamily member of your choice and was about to deliver the final blow before the bat member looks at them and says ‘ I love you, my son/little brother’ reader hesitates and his eyes widens and filled with tears, the red disappearing.
He’s of course confused and disoriented, he steps back and not notices the cliff. His mind coming back to me as he slowly lets his restaions of the others disappear. He steps back near the cliff and looks back into the abyss and back at his family and friends. With regret and a messed up mind right now thinking he won’t be forgiven, he purposely steps back and fall down the cliff. No one was fast enough to stop his fall and he dies.
They retrieve his body and they’re just depressed and stuff for a while hut Damian won’t allow his only little sibling to die and takes his body to talia and he gets revived back. when he brings unconscious reader back, the batfamily are upset at him for doing a dangerous act but happy that it went well.
Sorry it’s too long.
Hi anon, I hope you have have a splendid day too. Also, don't worry about the length. Lets go.
Summary: (Y/N) gets taken and is broken. The family has to save him.
Warnings: angst, fluff, SUICIDE- read at your own risk everyone!, near death of another character, the fam is suffering...
Tumblr media
(Y/N) Wayne, the youngest child in the family and the only child who isn't really human. He is a demigod you see, a demigod of lighting and electricity. I think you can guess that his biological dad is Zeus. Because of it, he got close to Wonder Woman her daughter, Althea. He liked them both and he didn't mind hanging out with them.
He was a good detective too. Bruce was happy and proud, but made sure he wasn't over working himself and neglecting himself like, ahem, Tim. He was different from the rest of the family too. He didn't really have a traumatic past. His mom left him, but the Justice League and Bruce took care of him.
He was really close with his brothers too. Jason and Dick made sure he didn't overwork himself, Tim was fascinated with his powers and how they worked and Damian liked to just hang out with him in general. (Y/N) is the only person he liked and tolerated.
But times have shifted a little bit. (Y/N) was overworked and he was just dead inside. The pressure to solve the cases was piling and piling on and while (Y/N) knew that Bruce wouldn't mind if he took a break, he knew it wouldn't fit his own image. He would be disappointed in him, although not outwardly, inwardly.
He was nearing his breaking his point. He hid it well from the others, not wanting to disappoint them or worry them. He worked himself to the bone, closing in and refusing to open up. He knew he needed to do this and solve this. These cases need to be solved one way or another.
One way or another. It was time to get this shit over with and to do this as best as he can. He needs to get as far away from this pressure and from this breaking point as soon as possible. ASAP. Bruce explained to him that whenever he is nearing that point, he should take a break, but there are people depending him to solve this shit.
(Y/N) hated this shit more than anything else in the world. He really wanted to get this over with. Frustration, anger, sadness... He really wants to feel happy...
Is that so wrong to feel and wish for.
(Y/N) knew that he had to tell someone. Maybe Wonder Woman and Althea would be a better option to talk to, but those two were raised as warriors and they probably don't put emotions on the first place. Mental health is a difficult area to navigate. (Y/N) didn't even sleep from time to time, for a few days, school also being a big overwhelming factor in this stuff. He had good grades, not a straight A student, but still a good student. That was more than enough for Bruce who simply says to do your best in school.
If (Y/N)'s grades dropped, then Bruce would've caught on. Really caught on and he would force (Y/N) to stop with the cases and patrol.
(Y/N) knew it was a bad idea to do this. But there was nobody to help him in this fight. It's said that every single batkid has his own villains. Well, (Y/N) could fricking confirm it. This bastard was a pain in his ass for him and for the rest of the family. (Y/N) was thrown into the wall and he grunted as he tried to get up.
It was difficult, but he managed to do it.
He glared at the villain, clenching his fist. He could feel electricity coursing through his veins, out right refusing to back down. He could feel his eyes turning electric blue. The villain used his powers to disappear into the shadows, making (Y/N) scowl.
" Did you really come here alone? " The villain said from the shadows, making (Y/N) look around, trying to pinpoint the source of the voice. He really didn't like this at all.
" That is brave. Coming here alone to face me. " (Y/N) scowled more as he heard mocking tone in his voice, knowing that facing alone this type of villain is not good and not advisable. (Y/N) threw some electricity at the villain.
He didn't know whether or not he has hit him, but he moved, not wanting to stay somewhere where he could be a sitting duck and more so an easy target for the villain. Shadow and darkness is a scary place and although his family could often be found in it, (Y/N) thought of them as some sort of beacons of light. Sure, they were dark figures, but they were bringing hope and justice.
That sounds like a paradox or oxymoron, but it was true. But being a person in the darkness and shadows and being evil... Yeah... Not good. Really not good.
(Y/N) turned his head when he heard something behind him, but that was a distraction. The real blow came from the front, leaving (Y/N) no time to react as he was thrown into the darkness and into the shadows. (Y/N) couldn't get his bearings together and he was panicking now. He had to get out of this cloud of darkness. He really had to.
He had to.
He started walking, hands reaching out to try and feel where a wall is. Everything was dark and he had no idea where he was going. One guess would be hell, one would be the exit for this stupid building. (Y/N) hoped that he was on his way to the exit, but hey, you can't have it all, can you?
(Y/N) pushed on, but screamed only a few moments later when the shadows pulled him in, invading his mind, breaking through his defenses easily. NO! Fighting was futile though, (Y/N) knew it. (Y/N) knew that very well.
" Just surrender. It will be easier. " The voice said and (Y/N) knew that he couldn't fight and with the last bit of resistance, (Y/N) allowed the darkness to take over his mind.
For now, it was over.
The entire family was loosing their collective minds and their shit. Each in their own way. Some were silent, but some were more emotional and taking it out on criminals. Ahem, Jason. Bruce was quiet and worked non stop to to find his youngest son, his child. Alfred was on the verge of killing someone.
It was difficult to even function normally without their family member. Also, there is another problem on the horizon. A new villain was on the prowl and he was good. Bruce saw he had a lot of training that was far too good for some amateur.
What the hell is going on here?
Bruce was overworked and asked Wonder Woman and Superman to try to locate this new villain because his son was a far more bigger priority than some stupid villain coming to their scene so to speak. Bruce had no time or patience for it.
If only Bruce knew.
Wonder Woman and Superman were doing a good job at tracking the new villain, making sure to communicate with Batman and offer comfort whenever they could. They would often see their nephews, trying to bring some comfort to the poor boys who lost their brother.
For a few months, there were no clues, nothing. Not about a new villain, not about (Y/N) either. Bruce was on the edge of an abyss and he can't do anything to stop himself from going over the edge. A little push was needed and then he would be long gone in that aspect.
The entire batfamily was at the Justice League HQ, looking through intel. Wonder Woman and Superman were in the middle of presenting the intel they managed to obtain when Althea burst through the doors, falling down on her knees, making Wonder Woman gasp before running towards her daughter.
" Althea! " She said, clearly worried and Bruce walked up to the duo, trying to see if Althea is okay.
" Mom, it's (Y/N)... " She said before coughing up more blood, making the inside of her mouth red.
" What about (Y/N)? " Bruce asked quickly, hoping she would stay awake and conscience long enough for him to know. Everyone was waiting patiently for Althea to start.
" (Y/N) is the villain. " She said, coughing even more and Wonder Woman picked her up and ran towards the medical wing of the HQ.
When Wonder Woman left, the room was shrouded in silence. Tense and palpable. Bruce had to sit down. No. No. (Y/N) couldn't have... Dick wiped his eyes as he started crying softly. Bruce broke out of his trance and quickly hugged his sons in a big group hug.
" I know... " Bruce said, pausing to compose himself. " But now we know that (Y/N) is alive. He is somewhat okay. " Bruce said as he swallowed with a bit of difficulty.
(Y/N) was alive. (Y/N) IS alive. They will bring their brother and son home. No matter what.
Well, (Y/N) got stronger during his kidnapping. His eyes were red and nobody could even get close to him. Tim and Dick were unable to move from being restrained by electricity and the other three members were trying everything they could fricking think of. Everything. They have tried to awake his memories. From when he was little, from when they did stupid pranks... Anything they could think of.
Nothing worked.
Soon enough, everyone was restrained with electricity and (Y/N) looked like he was going to kill them. Bruce watched his son as he walked over to him, ready to finish him. Bruce watched in silence as (Y/N) was ready to kill him. But there was one thing that they didn't try just yet.
Bruce watched as his son raised his fist up, ready to strike. Ready to kill.
" I love you son. " Bruce said as he smile and (Y/N) stopped.
The red was gone. The red was gone! Bruce smiled even more and the boys were waiting with a baited breath as to what would (Y/N) do. They didn't expect the tears. But by God, it was a sight they were hoping.
The shadow chains were getting broken.
(Y/N) was slowly moving backwards, going to the edge of the cliff, hands gripping his hair and head. Everything was coming back to him... What he did to Althea... His brothers... His dad, father.... What he did when he was under the villain's control...
(Y/N) looked back at the edge of a cliff, seeing the waves crash at the hard stone... Usually, (Y/N) would love to watch it, just to relax. But now, (Y/N) only sees the dark abyss. Everyone at one point is just standing at the edge of that abyss and then, sometimes, the abyss blinks back at you.
He glanced back at his family, who were out of the restraints, just waiting for (Y/N) to say something. (Y/N) couldn't really see their faces due to tears, but he did wonder one single thing.
Would they forgive him? Would Althea forgive him?
(Y/N) shook his head as he took another backwards, he could feel the edge, right at his heels. His mind was in shambles, ruins... He wouldn't be forgiven...
He knew that his family wouldn't forgive him. But Althea might kill him... (Y/N) looked back at his family once more, one last time. He swallowed and closed his eyes for a moment.
" I'm sorry. "
Bruce's eyes widened and he knew exactly what he was going to do and he got up and ran towards (Y/N), but it was too late. (Y/N) took a step over the edge, falling backwards into the waves and onto the hard rocks. Bruce leapt forward, hands grabbing the edge, but it was too late.
Bruce watched his son laying down there, waves washing over him. Bruce closed his eyes as he heard a scream behind him and then there was sobbing. Bruce looked up towards the sky, which opened up and Bruce for a moment thought that the sky was crying over their son.
The boys were destroyed and Bruce was destroyed with them... Oh God... Alfred will be destroyed too... Bruce allowed his tears to fall, and those tears were mixed with the rain.
Bruce swore that someone came in and took a part of soul. Just took it and ripped it out of his chest. A part of his heart was also taken and shattered. He look back at his sons, quickly grouping them into a hug, wanting to give them as much comfort as he can.
" Why? " Damian asked, shaken to his core.
" He said he was sorry... He thought we wouldn't forgive him... " Bruce said, burying his face into Damian's hair.
The boys all cried, crying out for their brother. Their souls and hearts were shattered too.
The world seemed to cry for (Y/N) Wayne.
Unfortunately, they couldn't bury (Y/N) just yet. They had to make sure that there were no restraints on his mind and body... And maybe they weren't ready to bury him just yet. They all hoped for a miracle to happen. Maybe (Y/N) would wake up and just be hey guys... But they all knew that wouldn't happen.
They were all grieving for (Y/N) in their own ways, but Damian was hurting the most. He was thinking about (Y/N) all the time and he cried alone in his room, thinking about his brother. The house was silent and there was no way it could ever be the same.
Damian thought about his grandfather and the Lazarus pit... Maybe... Just maybe...
The way back was easier than the way to Lazarus pit. Talia didn't expect him to come, especially not with his younger brother, well, half brother but still. Talia met (Y/N) and she did like him. She didn't know what happened, but she felt bad for the poor boy. She also didn't expect that Damian would want to use the pit, but she wasn't going to stop him.
She helped him put (Y/N) in the pit, waiting and watching. The color was coming back to his cheeks. There was that infamous white streak in his hair... Damian watched with a bated breath, hoping it would work.
After a few minutes, they checked for a pulse. Damian sighed in relief as he felt a pulse. His brother was alive... He is alive.... Talia watched as Damian took (Y/N) into his arms, lifting him out of the water, hugging him tightly.
She left the two brothers alone, allowing Damian to have a moment to get himself ready. He had to go back home...
As said before, the way back was easier and oddly enough, he made it just in time for dinner. He didn't question it and walked through, carrying his now alive brother.
Bruce spat out his water and the rest paled. There was (Y/N), but he looked like he was sleeping. He had more color than he had...
" Damian, " Bruce started as he stood up, not sure what more to say. The rest was quiet. " What did you do? "
" I used the Lazarus pit. "
That sentence... Bruce's eyes widened as he walked closer to his now alive son... He took (Y/N) into his arms, trying not to cry. (Y/N) was alive... He is alive.
" Lets put him to bed. " Bruce said with a strain in his voice. The other 3 boys jumped from their seats to really see if their brother is really alive.
(Y/N) was alive... They all cried softly as they realized that (Y/N) was alive... (Y/N) is alive!
They were happy, but mad at the same time since Damian didn't tell anyone of them what the hell he was planning. But they were happy and maybe their family could be whole again, once more.

Always loved how Umineko subverts the whole "creepy horror little girl" thing with Maria going kihihihi mode in Legend and almost baiting a less attentive reader into believing she's Evil or being possessed by Beatrice only for the text to immediately explain that her shift in behavior when infodumping about the topic her entire life and sense of self revolves around to the adults who belittled her and are now interested due to recent developments makes perfect sense if you think about it for 5 seconds. And then that behavior causing discord and panic as the murders keep happening which leads to her being yelled at and smacked around and literally thrown to the wolves while the text is basically gripping the reader's shoulders explaining how much witches mean to Maria and how this tragedy has an entirely different meaning to her. It begs the reader to avoid the kneejerk impulse of reading her unfavorably when she isn't behaving in ways that are agreeable or cute anymore, because she doesn't only deserve understanding and your sympathy when she's the innocent little girl being horribly abused by her mother. Which is why Maria haters really failed the most basic litmus test in Umineko, imagine being that wrong. lol
Anyway the point I wanted to make was that it's interesting to me how that was also done in Higurashi and Umineko basically expanded on it. The way Akasaka in Himatsubushi immediately projected this image of a lovely cute ideal child on Rika only to be taken aback and frightened when she suddenly started talking seriously about her premonitions of death and he couldn't reconcile this Rika with the Rika he projected her to be, suspecting that they couldn't possibly be the same little girl, she must've been possessed by Oyashiro-sama or not even human herself. And then that fear and the betrayal of his expectations stopping him from realizing that she was, in fact, a little girl asking him for help because she desperately wanted to escape certain death. She didn't only deserve his protection when she was doing her cutesy nipah☆ bit. It speaks a lot how Akasaka was a soon-to-be father, saw Rika being cute and immediately set that impression as an ideal for his daughter who wasn't even born yet, and Rika herself breaking that image meant shattering that ideal. Akasaka failing Rika is a direct reflection of the mentality of parents placing expectations on their children and then feeling betrayed and giving up when they turn out to be complex individuals who don't match the projections they made up. And this is similar to the surprise of Maria going from a cute and naive child to cackling and speaking at length about "scary" topics in a smug tone, and the way the text immediately explains that you should get over the whiplash and accept that Maria is a complex individual, there's nothing out of place about it if you try to understand her situation
Basically I think it's neat how both games use the idea of an archetype that honestly would fit right into the setting to basically shake up the expectations of the audience and the characters themselves and add to the fundamental point the series makes, that girls who behave in ways you can't personally comprehend (with a big emphasis on neurodivergent and traumatized girls) and/or that aren't palatable deserve unconditional understanding and compassion, that they shouldn't have to match your projection of who you want them to be or be helpless perfect victims for you to sympathize with them

Hi, i was wondering if you could do a small one-shot or hand cannon about platonic reader with tonowari’s family, as in she’s his and ronal’s daughter, maybe younger then ao’nung but older then tsireya? and everyone loves her and she’s like the favorite child and the whole village enjoys her presence kinda thing? lol i just wanna be the favorite child for once (thank you in advance if you decide to make this request!)
Hello sweetie! This one was cute to write! I enjoyed writing your request!
------------------------
Paskalin
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was a glorious bright day when the second child of Tonowari and Ronal was born. Their second child and their first daughter. As is the Metkayina clan, by customs and traditions, their sweet daughter was born within the ocean and by instinct swam up. Ronal's spirit sister, Roa, was there to see her sister's child come up for air.
It was a day to celebrate, Tonowari held his new born daughter in his big arms, showing her to the entire clan. Ronal was tired and was attended to by the other healers. Ao'nung was happy! he was a big brother and soon will have his new best friend to play with!
The celebration went on until night time arrived. Many na'vi went to Tonowari and Ronal, giving them gifts like clothes, toys, blankets, nutritional food for their new baby. Ronal felt very blessed by Eywa, thanking her great mother and has said many prayers dedicated to Eywa.
As time went on, their dear daughter was growing up with a compassionate heart, would smile and laugh at the simplest of things. When Tonowari was throwing the net out to the sea, his sweet child would laugh. When Ronal would weave some shells, causing them to make sounds, the sweet child would laugh. Her laughter was medicine to her parents ears, a joyous sound they would never get tired of.
Ao'nung would take his big brother title very seriously, while he was only 2 years older, the boy would do his best to take care of his baby sister, even if he fails hilariously. Ronal feels at ease that her son would watch over his cute sister, but at times Ao'nung either forgets, or cant comprehend that his sister isn't old enough to do certain things yet.
One of them being little Ao'nung tried to put his baby sister on his fathers skimwing. Had it not been for one of the warriors noticing, things would have gone bad.
Once the baby began to walk, it was a sight to remember forever. Tonowari, Ronal, and Ao'nung were each doing something in their home, when just suddenly, their sweet girl began to get up, and slowly but surly, began to take her first steps. Ronal gasped, making her mate and son see what she is seeing.
And then there was a competition on who can get the girls attention. Tonowari won, when his daughter walking towards him and into his arms, he was happy. He spined her around, lifting her up in he air, saying his thanks to Eywa, he was a proud father.
Once the girl got better at walking, she would follow either one of her family. Would follow her mother to help others, and would try her best to do the same. The people in the clan were touched by the compassion the young baby has.
She would follow her father, and would grab a stick pretending it was her own spear. Tonowari would show her how to hold it and her little chest would puff out in pride. Making tonowari do the same.
She would also follow her big brother Ao'nung and his best friend Rotxo. They would play in a safe spot so she can play too, hanging out with the ilu's or swim a bit. She loved having fun.
Soon the entire clan would nick name the young girl, "Paskalin" a fitting name. When Paskalin was 4 years old, her baby sister, Tsireya was born. Paskalin and Ao'nung were so happy! a new siblings and a new play mate!
Tsireya was a sweet girl, and her idol was her big sister. Tsireya would follow Paskalin more than she would with Ronal. Tsireya loved her big sister and would follow her manners. From how softly spoken, to how to gently tend to the people.
Tsireya is among the many who love Paskalin, for she was wise, sweet, compassionate, loving and very beautiful. She was the gem of the island. Tonowari and Ao'nung would push away any young na'vi men who wish to court their beloved Paskalin. Ronal sees that no one is worthy or good enough for her first born daughter. Tsireya believes if given a chance, her sister would find the right mate.
Paskalin however, is in no rush to find a mate, or to be the Tsahik. She merely desires to enjoy her life on her beloved island and help those in need. Paskalin would be what many call, Eywa's blessing. And many agree.
Tumblr media
Paskalin = 'honey' (term of endearment) lit.: sweet berry
Tumblr media
And that is it for this one! This was cute ngl. Enjoy!

Hard Luck
It’s hard finding love when your sole reason to live is your daughter, but when her best friends dad is annoyingly attractive and might have something to do with your rent randomly getting paid, who can blame you for being a little curious?
||* mentions of masturbation (m receiving)
Chap i
The crisp autumn air carries a sense of nostalgia, which surprises you. It has been a while since you've experienced autumn in this way, but nostalgia is supposed to be a pleasant feeling, right?
Your daughter's small, chubby fingers firmly grip your hand as you playfully swing your arm out of her reach. You can't help but laugh at her adorable pout when you pull your hand away.
"I'm just teasing you," you say with a wide grin, extending your hand for her to take. "Stop being a grouch and hold my hand, RayRay!"
Her scowl quickly turns into a cheesy grin as she latches onto your hand. The sound of her pencil case and notebook thumping matches the rhythm of her skipping, and her glittery, purple sequin backpack bounces on her back.
Raya, or RayRay as you playfully call her, is your best friend. It's a bit sad, you know, but you've never really had time for friends. Ever since her dad left, she's been the only person in your life, aside from colleagues and your parents. And it's not so bad. She has adapted to your lifestyle, developed a sense of humor—her sarcasm is surprisingly on point for a nine-year-old.
The journey from your rundown apartment to her school isn't long, but it's far enough for the houses to transform from shabby boxes with crooked slate tiles to fancy condos with gleaming windows. It always amazes you how a few turns can take you to an area where people don't even know the meaning of a food bank.
You can tell by appearances alone that you don't fit in. The navy blue cable-knit sweater and boyfriend jeans, dirtied with mud stains, don't exactly scream, “I can afford more than one vacation a year!"
On the other hand, Raya always looks pristine. Well, maybe that's an exaggeration, but you'd rather wear nothing than have your daughter look as unkempt as you. Ensuring she has enough clean, stain-free clothes is your number one priority.
As you round a corner, narrowly missing a puddle that Raya "only wanted to look at" and not jump in, her disappointed expression gives her away.
Parents bustle around, urgently trying to retrieve their kids from the playground. It's nearly impossible to spot her teacher amidst the crowd of what seems like millions of moms, dressed in thick white scarves and thigh-high brown boots.
And then you hear it—a loud screech that, under different circumstances, would signify fear instead of the original joy it was intended for. "RAYYYY!" an excited girl squeals from the opposite end of the playground. Her dark brown hair is scraped back into a painfully tight ponytail as she races toward your daughter.
The two girls jump up and down gleefully, holding each other closely. It's a nice seeing her not alone.
You're so engrossed in watching your daughter giggle with her friend that you fail to notice the tall man standing next to you. What catches your attention first is his cologne—it's expensive.
The scent of thick oak is overpowering on its own, but it's tempered by the most unremarkable shower gel known to man.
"They're cute, aren't they?" he asks, causing you to turn your head and face him. You bite your lower lip for a moment, trying to figure out who this guy is. "Yeah... they are," you murmur, tilting your head to the side.
"I'm sorry, who are you?" Your words come out ruder than you intended, but you can't be bothered to fix your manners when a surprisingly attractive man is staring at your daughter, enjoying her time with another child. If you weren't genuinely confused about his identity, you might have reacted more strongly. Instead, you stand there, arms folded and brow furrowed.
"I'm... sorry, I'm Gabi's dad," he explains, his tone surprisingly apologetic.
That's her name.
"I'm Raya's dad," you reply, nodding toward the two girls. Hearing who he is instantly eases your fear that he might be something worse than just a father.
An awkward silence ensues as the man continues to study your appearance, seemingly taking you in. With a soft laugh, he smiles at you—a warm and irritatingly charismatic smile. "You don't look like a dad," he grins.
You open your mouth to give him a sharp, quick-witted retort, but your expression falters when you realize your mistake. Refusing to let this stranger have the upper hand in your first interaction, you smirk at him. "What do you mean?" you ask, poking your tongue past your lips to swipe across your teeth.
He instantly catches on to your smirk, and to be honest, it's endearing. "Because you don't look likea typical dad," he responds, matching your quickness. The same mischievous grin is plastered on both of your faces as you engage in a playful stare-down.
This morning, when you hastily applied expired mascara and cheap lip balm while trying to wake up Raya, you never expected to encounter such an annoyingly funny and undeniably attractive man—by your standards, at least.
With high cheekbones, thick eyebrows, and broad shoulders, anyone would take a second look at him.
The loud peal of the school bell interrupts your scrutinizing gaze, drawing your attention back to your daughter. You quickly give her a kiss on the cheek, and she instinctively wipes it away while giving you a glare, before you push her towards the school entrance.
The man—whose name you still don't know, aside from being Gabi's father—does the same, but his daughter doesn't wipe away the kiss.
"When I asked who you were, I was hoping for a name," you mutter, mostly to yourself, but hoping he hears it too.
"Miguel," he responds, his voice lacking the warmth he had when his daughter was present.
"I'm..." you begin to introduce yourself, but he cuts you off, his voice now tinged with cockiness.
"I know who you are," he says, raising an eyebrow. Your scoff makes it clear how creepy he sounds. "Gabi talks about Raya a lot, and with you being her mother, it's only natural."
You narrow your eyes at Miguel, feeling a mix of surprise and curiosity. Raya is your world, and beyond that, you've kept everything else tightly guarded. It's a defense mechanism, a way to shield yourself from potential hurt or judgment.
"What exactly does Gabi say about Raya?" you ask, your voice tinged with caution. You're not sure if you should be flattered or concerned that your daughter is a topic of conversation between Miguel and his daughter.
Miguel chuckles, seemingly amused by your response. "She just talks about how funny and cool Raya is," he replies. "They've become good friends at school. Gabi is always excited to see her."
There's feel a sense of relief that washes over you. It's comforting to know that Raya has found a friend who appreciates her for who she is.
“Well I need to go,” you say while motioning over to the school gates. “Work and stuff.”
He nods his head, expression just as nonchalant as it was moments ago.
***
After dropping off Raya at school, and a brief yet intriguing conversation with Miguel, you head back home. It's considerably warmer now than it was before; sun poking out of the clouds, shining down onto the leaf-littered pavement. The odd car whizzes past and it's all you can do to jump away in time before it splashes you in murky brown liquid.
Fortunately for you, you don't have to leave for work until ten so you get some time to yourself. As soon as you unlock the door to your apartment, it took longer than you'd like to admit as you forgot which way to turn the key, you flop down onto the worn-in sofa. It creaks beneath you- a sign that you need to get a new one.
If you had the money, you would. God, if you had the money you’d move out of this shitty apartment and into… anywhere else. Maybe a house on the coast would be nice, or one of those fancy condos by Raya’s school. Either way, you want out.
You feel your eyes grow heavy, the temptation to allow yourself a few moments of sleep all too good. With a low groan, you pull yourself up off the sofa and drag your feet over to the kitchen to make yourself some coffee.
You open the jar only to find a minuscule amount granules left- six to be exact. All you want is that burst of energy and yet you are denied it. “Fuck me,” you grumble under your breath.
***
Even though it was a painfully short moment between the two of you, Miguel decides you are tolerable. Okay, maybe you’re more than tolerable, he'll settle for bearable as he's feeling especially nice today. You’re funny, well that might be a bit dramatic since he hasn’t even had a proper conversation with you, but you made him laugh- internally that is.
But right now he needs to push you, the nice lady with a pretty smile and even prettier face, out of his mind. He has to focus on this paperwork that's been sitting on his desk for God knows how long.
Begrudgingly, he picks up his pen with a sigh and starts scrawling his signature on the limitless reams of paper. It's all nonsense about him signing off on random projects, and safety procedures and- those sweet lips.
Something about you is intoxicating. Even when he was skimming through the infinite amount of universes, you didn't seem that special. Yes, there were the odd facts that caught his attention but everything else just seemed… dull. So why now, after not even a full five minutes of your company, can't he get you out of his head?
At first, he assumes it's because you’re oddly charismatic but that's not it. You weren't even trying, you just didn't want him to pull a fast one on you. Maybe, just maybe, he underestimated your personality and being around you as a real person and not some fact file actually made you likeable- no, bareable.
Double checking his office door is closed and the blind is pulled down over the frosted glass before sliding back into his chair. “LYLA,” he calls out, words muffled by his head in his hands.
There’s a small glitch next to him that quickly turns into a digitalized woman. “You called?” LYLA asks, hands on her hips.
Fuck he feels guilty but maybe seeing that cocky smirk on your face will ease the culpability he’s feeling. “You… you know what I want and I don’t want teasing or anything about it, just do it, ‘kay?” Miguel’s voice is gruff, full of an annoyance he doesn’t even know he’s feeling.
“Why would I tease you about wanting to innocently look at something?” she drawls with a smirk.
He shoots her a look, an unamused one at that. Giggling childishly, LYLA pulls up a screen full of writing. Miguel’s eyes flicker back and forth trying to find something until he catches a glimpse of your name.
He swipes and flicks the blue pixels a few times before your socials are pulled up. It’s nothing much, just your Twitter, Facebook and a surprising amount of Instagram accounts. That, makes him laugh. He can tell exactly which ones are the accounts you use for stalking people and which ones are for actually posting things.
There are mostly pictures of you and Raya together on days out but there are a few of you on nights out nights out alone. He immediately notices you never post anything with friends and it’s oddly comforting because it’s not just drunk girls with smeared eyeliner that’s missing from your pictures. It’s a boyfriend as well.
Not that he wants to fill that missing gap in your selfies, he's just feeling a little lonely cooped up in his office. He's in this universe for Gabi and no one else, not the lady with a pretty smile.
Just as he’s about to zoom in on a picture that shows an alluring amount of your cleavage, LYLA cuts him off. “I like her smile,” she says while getting up a different picture. This time it’s one of you and Raya in last year's Halloween costumes. Pirates. That’s the two of you had dressed up as.
You’d drawn a black beard on her face, Raya’s outfit cute with the oversized black and white striped shirt meanwhile you… A tight black and red corset pushes your chest in a way that makes something inside Miguel stir.
He shouldn't be looking at you like this- it's wrong and perverse. The two of you only met today and yet he's salivating over a picture of you in a Halloween costume. Yet he can't stop himself from allowing his body to react to the way you look.
That feeling slips down from his chest to his gut until it eventually reaches his crotch. You look so pretty like that, cheeks appled and eyes wide as you pull a stupid face with your daughter. The picture is innocent enough in its own right but seeing you in something ever so slightly revealing makes his brain malfunction.
He bets could make you prettier, more gorgeous than ever if you let him. His cum painting your perfectly plump lips and his hands gripping bruises into your supple flesh.

re8 as classical music
badly explained cause its 2am and i dont know musical terms.
Btw if anyone has any notes or other songs that would fit them id love to see it-
Ethan: Tchaikovsky - Marche Slave
youtube
Slow start, Ethan is unknowingly ensnared in a trap. As he realizes the danger Rose (and himself) are in the song becomes tragic and determined. Fastpaced strings, frantic beats —like prey escaping from predator— keeps escalating into something more and more insurmountable. A hopeful jingle is heard as Ethan finds out he can still save his daughter. A heroic theme plays as he overcomes the horrors despite it all (a sense of control over the situation is marked by highpitched anxious flutes superimposed by a deep stable horn). Then comes the first faceoff with Miranda who taunts him and Ethan’s tragic hero theme comes to a grinding halt as his heart gets pulled out of his chest. The drums pick up again and the little soldier is off to his final battle.
Mia: Claude Debussy - Clair De Lune
youtube
Sadly the real Mia doesn’t appear much. In the Winters home, Ethan writes that Mia doesn’t want to talk about what they went through in Louisiana, which leaves him with a lot of questions unanswered. In the flashback where she desperately tries reaching out saying ‘𝘺𝘰𝘶 matter’, she still can’t help keeping secrets- maybe out of fear that Ethan wouldn’t let it go (being extremely persistent) and they’d never return to normal. The song is heartbreaking and sad as she struggles coming to terms with the guilt and grief over what she’s done and what the one she loves went through because of it. On a last somber note, her child, who takes after her father both in looks and unresolved powers, is all she has left.
Rose: Saint-Saëns - Le Cygne
youtube
A little girl whos only ever known unconditional, all encompassing love. Even before her birth, it was known that her life would be full of uncertainty. Though stolen away for possessing powers she’s not even aware of yet, she continues to live and provide a beacon of hope for her family.
Chris: Richard Wagner - Ride of the Valkyries
youtube
Comes in the dead of night and rains hell on the Winters home. In his eyes, he’s doing the right thing, but has made himself the villain to the one he was trying to protect (victorious trumpets superimposed by high fearful strings). The transport gets intercepted by Miranda and the music falls. Once Chris finally explains himself to Ethan they’re allowed a brief bit of victory (steadier horn) as their combined efforts take down Miranda’s last line of defense (Heisenberg). In the end, Chris has to live with the victory of taking down the megamycete, the guilt and grief over Ethan’s death/sacrifice, and the troubling news from BSAA. A tainted victory.
Alcina: Tchaikovsky - Swan Lake
youtube
Appears first as a noble elegant socialite. She’s at the height of her power, owns a castle and three daughters and believes herself to be Miranda’s favorite. It’s business as usual, calm serene music. Suddenly an outsider has made his way into her home, killing her daughters one by one. She reaches out to Miranda, who only cares about the stupid ceremony, and realizes everything she knew was a lie. Anger and frustration builds. The music deepens, falls and rises again as she transforms, tries taking revenge on Ethan and fails, having lost everything in one evening.
Bela, Cassandra, Daniela: Rimsky Korsakov - Flight of the Bumblebee
youtube
Self explanatory. Hurried, manic and playful.
Donna: Tchaikovsky - Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy
youtube
Entrancing but with eerie insidious undertones. Fitting for the childlike dollmaker and her little porcelain friends. Ends with a fast and chilling theme for the twisted game of hide and seek
Moreau: Edvard Grieg - Hall of the Mountain King
youtube
Quiet, lumbering and slow. Ethan takes the Rose flask back easily; threatened with losing Mother Miranda it very quickly escalates as panic sets in and Moreau throws everything he has at him. The music swells and ends with a bang.
Karl: Aram Khachaturian - Masquerade Suite
youtube
A bold start. Right from the beginning he exudes arrogance, charisma and danger. He plays nice in front of Miranda with a waltz that picks up in intensity when putting Ethan through his first gauntlet. Then the tone gets deeper and quieter for a moment, as he plots in secret; it’s finally time to set his plan in action. It’s a race to the finish line as Ethan tears through the other lords, unknowingly playing right into Miranda’s plan. Realizing he could be a particularly useful asset/ally, Heisenberg puts him through the second gauntlet. The music is sadistically playful as he tests his will and endurance. Upon failing to recruit Ethan, the music picks up for the third gauntlet and ends with a bang, as Karl dies at the hands of Miranda.
Duke: Georges Bizet - Votre Toast
youtube
A friendly face unfitting in a place such as this. The upbeat and energetic theme sticks out like a sore thumb among the others. Whimsy and grandiosity acts as a brilliant facade for his enigmatic true nature. Though the jolly merchant schtick may be a lie, he always delivers on service.
Miranda: Sergei Prokofiev - Dance of the Knights
https://youtu.be/bBsKplb2E6Q?si=jnSpMO-bIhEcjJzb
Immediately imposes a sense of authority and dread. The dark theme plays over and over as she performs the same cruel experiments expecting different results, though it only succeeds in remowing her further from humanity. She imagines a world of pure bliss in acquiring her child, which at this point is as illusory as chasing the holy grail since she’s never satisfied. When she hears of Rose she schemes her way into the Winters home, elated to find the perfect vessel after a century of searching. She steals the child away, leaving behind a trail of destruction that finally catches up to her.

Guardian Zestial Pt 1
Something that has somewhat been living rent-free in my brain for a while.
}I{
When Charlie was an itty-bitty little babe, Lucifer started worrying about his precious little girl getting in trouble. Since Razzle and Dazzle aren't in existence yet (idk how old these two are or when Charlie got them as her servants/bodyguards), the King of Hell started looking for a suitable bodyguard that could double as a caretaker. The tricky bit was looking for someone who wouldn't try to use Charlie as leverage because this was Hell.
Therefore, Lucifer made a very detailed list of criteria that he wanted for this Protector for his precious little girl. Someone strong enough to protect Charlie from any type of threat within Hell, wouldn't use Charlie as leverage to get to Lucifer, wouldn't harm Charlie in "Any" way, could care for a child, smart enough to be a tutor if needed, and most importantly, someone Lucifer could genuinely trust.
Simple list, but given that this was Hell, that was a tall order. So Lucifer created little "Speye Ducks" to search the entire Pride Ring for his precious daughter's perfect protector.
Thankfully, none of the denizens of the Pride Ring noticed the Speye Ducks; if they did, they either didn't care about them or thought they weren't worth their time.
It takes a year or two for Lucifer to find some potential guardians for his precious little daughter. A handful of Sinners and a few members of the Goieta. The biggest issue was whether or not he could trust any of these potential guardians. Therefore, Lucifer created a plan to test these potential guardians. An easy test of trust on paper, but easy to fail.
Lucifer summons these people (separately) and gives them a sealed envelope, telling them that he needs them to deliver this secret letter to a potential grand commander for the army he's planning on making. Lucifer makes it a point to tell them he trusts them with this valuable information and not look at it. He sends them off after he tells them where this "commander" is. Once he gives all the potential Guardians the test, he teleports himself to said location and waits.
All but one failed the test. Zestial.
He is the only one to take a moment to weigh his options regarding this 'information', considering the pros and cons of looking at the 'information' and following Lucifer's orders. Seeing that it would be more beneficial to have the Ruler of Hell's trust in his corner over a glimpse at something that would possibly become public once the 'army' was established, Zestial proceeded to deliver the envelope to its destination without opening it.
Zestial is understandably surprised and confused when he arrives at the location and finds Lucifer there.
Lucifer congratulates the Overlord on passing his little trust test and then proceeds to tell Zesital why he did this and why. Ofc, Zesital is confused by all this.
Lucifer goes into more detail on his desire to have a perfect guardian for his precious daughter and why. He explains how Zestial fits the criteria he's looking for and wants him to be that guardian, and ofc Lucifer isn't asking Zestial to do this for free.
So they talk for a while to iron out this little Deal. For the care and protection of Charlette "Charlie" Morningstar (plus the possibility of being a teacher to her), Zestial will earn Lucifer's backing as an Overlord, given protected areas during the Extermination in his territories for the souls that he owns (not the entire territory because that will be too obvious to others in Hell and the Exorcists, but scattered across it in easy to access areas), and the access to the Morningstar Mansion to him and anyone he holds close to his heart. Ofc, Lusicer makes sure to put in the contract that Zestial couldn't use any personal information he gains while at the Morningstar Mansion or while caring for Charlie. Both beings keep their souls.
After solidifying the contract for the Deal, both Lucifer and Zestial agree to it and seal it.
It doesn't take too long before Zestial becomes attached to the cheery little toddler while in his care. While bitty Charlie didn't enjoy the screams of the denizens of Hell, she seemed to enjoy the teas that Zestial brought. The little tot was more interested in the sweeter teas than the bitter ones.
It doesn't take long before Zestial brings little Charlie (maybe when she's 6-7ish) over to the Carmine Family for a get-together. Odette and Clara were overjoyed by the fact that they could be big sister figures to Little Charlie. Carmilla is understandably confused by this, at least until Zestial confides to her about his little charge while the children are playing. Ofc, Carmilla gives him a 'what are you thinking?' talk. Zestial understands his friend's concerns and explains why he accepted the Deal, adding that he asked for Lucifer to also place a Safe Zone in the Carmine Residence and that little Charlie might as well be his little goddaughter. Carmilla couldn't help but agree that the youngest of the Morningstars was easy to love and was willing to look after the youngling in case Zestial was busy, somewhat adding that her daughters would be willing to look after her too. (Family Bonding!!)
Over the years, Zestial learned more about the Morningstars as well as somewhat became part of the family.
But the more subtle yet information Zestial gained came specifically during and after the Extermination. He saw how much the Morningstars loathed that day. Charlie was more obvious about that since she was still pretty young and didn't understand what was going on. Lilith seemed to get irritable. And Lucifer was... Complicated... He seemed to have this strange combination of anger and sadness when this day came around... Zestial watched these moments from the shadows for years, unsure how to broach the subject.
Until one year when the Exorcist decided to have the Extermination a week early when Zestial was out and about with the Carmine Family and little Charlie for an afternoon stroll in a bizarre to get some supplies for said event. The attack was sudden and there was no real time to take cover for anyone. However, Zestial was quick to act and used his powers to grab the Carmines and little Charlie and then teleport them all into the Morningstar Mansion with only seconds to spar.
Ofc, Lucifer is confused by their sudden presence and asks what was going on. When he's told about the early Extermination, Lucifer goes through several different emotions in a matter of seconds. Sock, disbelief, worry, relief, anger, and resentment in that order. Little Charlie rushed into her father's arms in tears, still terrified over the whole ordeal.
That was when Odette and Clara shouted at Lucifer, asking him why the hell he allowed the Exorcist to do the Extermination every year before Zestial and Carmilla could stop them.
Lucifer quickly snaps back in anger, "You really think I want this shit to happen!?" The ruler of hell then says in anger, "But does Heaven listen when I suggest any alternative solutions?! NO!! They don't give a crap!!" Lucifer hugs his confused daughter closer when he says softly, "All I was able to do was make sure they leave the Hellborns alone..."
The Carmine Family and Zestial... Did not know how to respond to this... Reveal... But due to Lucifer and Zestial's deal, this information stays between them. Never to be told to anyone outside the Morningstar home...
A few years go by, little Charlie starts spending a little more time outside the Morningstar mansion. But most of that time was either with Zestial or the Carmine Family, learning a lot of useful skills. Charlie learned about conjuring magic from Zesital while she learned combat and weaponry from the Carmines. It didn't take too long before she could handle any type of threat on her own, mostly. Charlie was still an oddly kind-hearted soul for a hellborn and princess of hell. Zestial usually takes care of the would-be assassins behind Charlie's back by using fear tactics.
To be continued in pt 2.

From Six of Crows:
“Some people see a magic trick and say, ‘Impossible!’ They clap their hands, turn over their money, and forget about it ten minutes later. Other people ask how it worked. They go home, get into bed, toss and turn, wondering how it was done. It takes them a good night’s sleep to forget all about it. And then there are the ones who stay awake, running through the trick again and again, looking for that skip in perception, the crack in the illusion that will explain how their eyes got duped; they’re the kind who won’t rest until they’ve mastered that little bit of mystery for themselves. I’m that kind.”
This quote says a lot of things about Kaz, but I’m going to focus on one aspect: Kaz doesn’t believe the magic trick. He can’t say “oh that was cool” and forget about it because he needs to know how. He needs to understand how he was fooled, how the trick works, how it fits into his worldview. He can't rest until he figures it out.
Magic is when something happens that we can’t explain. Kaz needs to find the explanation.
But we also have this quote:
“The harbour wind had lifted [Inej’s] dark hair, and for a moment Kaz was a boy again, sure that there was magic in this world.”
“A boy again” — this is suggesting that Kaz’s disillusionment with magic is because of everything that happened to him because of Pekka. Pekka fooled Kaz and Jordie; Kaz failed to figure out what was going on. It seemed like magic, but then it wasn’t. Now, Kaz doesn’t believe that there’s magic anymore. Pekka shattered his belief that things could be inexplicable.
But Inej is the exception to this: she makes him feel like there’s still magic in the world. Kaz can’t explain her (or doesn’t want to).
Now, Kaz often seems to function by figuring out what drives people and using that to his advantage.
“It was a guess. Pekka’s pride in the Dime Lions is plenty predictable. Kid probably has a thousand lions to play with and a giant wooden lion to ride around on.” “How did you even know he had a child?” “I figured it out that night at Van Eck’s house. Rollins wouldn't stop flapping his gums about the legacy he was building. I knew he had a country house, liked to leave the city. I’d just figured he had a mistress stashed somewhere. But what he said that night made me think again.” “And that he had a son, not a daughter? That was a guess too?” “An educated one. He named his new gambling hall the Kaelish Prince. Had to be a little red-headed boy. And what kid isn’t fond of sweets?”
Kaz figures out what motivates Pekka — the explanation for Pekka’s behaviour — and uses that to beat him.
He even does that with his own people, like Big Bolliger at the beginning of SoC:
“You’re lazy. I know it. Everyone knows it. So I had to ask myself why my laziest bouncer was getting up early twice a week to walk two extra miles to Cilla’s Fry for breakfast, especially when the eggs are so much better at the Koperoom.”
That’s how he realises that Big Bolliger is a traitor. He analyses people and figures out how they work, friend and foe alike. That’s why he wins.
But Kaz doesn’t know how Inej works — if he did, she wouldn’t be magic, would she? Kaz trusts Inej to gather secrets for him, even though he can't control her the way he controls everyone else.
And then we have a quote about Inej:
“But what about the rest of us? What about the nobodies and the nothings, the invisible girls? We learn to hold our heads as if we wear crowns. We learn to wring magic from the ordinary. That was how you survived when you weren’t chosen, when there was no royal blood in your veins. When the world owed you nothing, you demanded something of it anyway.”
“To wring magic from the ordinary.” Inej is talking about herself, but that's what she does for Kaz, too — she shows him the magic in the ordinary. She tells him that not everything is ordinary; not everything can be explained; not everything is a magic trick. Sometimes, it’s just magic.
This is why I am obsessed with Kanej. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

To me the core theme of arcane is this specific type of conflict that repeats over and over again in all the main aspects of the story that centers around 'sibling relationships'.
Starting with the two cities. We have Piltover and the bad side of Piltover. Technically they're supposed to be one and the same but one is the 'golden privileged child' while the other is disadvantaged and needs to rely on the rich side of Piltover for support, they can't do it by themselves. And then the rich side of Piltover fails in its duties of taking care of/protecting/supporting/whatever the poorer side and a split happens. Zaun is created and it becomes so dangerous and volatile, it becomes a menace and an active threat to itself/the outside and there's no going back. It's the monster Piltover created and even tho the Undercity suffered unfairly at this point it has become so monstrous there may be no improvement/redemption for it.
And obvs that's the exact same thing that happens with Vander/Silco and Vi/Jinx. However it's also imo completely applicable to Jayce/Viktor and even Heimer/Singed. Jayce and Viktor will only reach their break-up era in future seasons but it's a given this will happen but I know I obvs need to explain the Heimer/Singed example.
Based on what we know about them Heimer is just naturally immortal/long-living, how lucky for him, and completely lacks any ability to relate to beings who from his perspective live short life-spans. Meanwhile Singed is just a human and on top of that he had a 10yo child who died from some kind of disease(maybe?). Currently he is obsessed with discovering immortality: experimenting on ppl, mutating them, resurrecting corpses etc. possibly in an attempt to find a way to heal/resurrect his daughter. And we know him and Heimer were partners and that Heimer didn't help him and threw him out of the university or smth for his research. So the exact same dynamic as the other pairs.
So notice how we've got the cities, and then each city has its storyline, and each storyline has a pair of protags who reflect the conflict between the cities, and then each pair also has the pair that preceded them which also reflects the same conflict. In Zaun all these connections are about family ties: brothers, sisters, fathers/daughters, with inherited political/social roles like the Piltover sympathizer and criminal/revolutionary. Meanwhile Piltover storyline connections are about 'progress': science buddies, mentors and students, with Jayce succeeding Heimer as the barely-scientist-moreso-a-politician and Singed/Viktor being mad scientists. We've even got zaunite 'older siblings' associating with Piltover and piltovan 'younger siblings' being from/associating with Zaun.
Just really nice parallels all around.
But I actually have an honorable mention to add here at the end lol.
Mylo and Claggor. Obvs they don't quite fit cos they never develop into this kinda dynamic and they were never meant to but I can't help but notice the similarities. Claggor being the pure hearted hero archetype, looking like Vander, naturally good fighter, seemingly lacking insecurities, seems like the 'second in command' after Vi (second best with the fighting machine, Vander speaks to him second to get info about what happened), meanwhile Mylo giving off 3rd child vibes, full of insecurities and needing to prove himself, physically looks like a stick bug, a bit of a bully, "weird" lock-picking talents that he struggles with and isn't respected for (like Singed/Viktor's science, Powder's bombs or Silco's dream) that are actually super useful and impressive (like he could have been robbing millions from Piltover banks if he got adopted by Silco instead lol).

Lots of people doing HOO AUs and that sounds fun so I'm hopping on the band wagon. Starting with TLH! (Note, this would mostly be from Jason's pov, with a few chapters from Leo's and Piper's perspectives. ) Edit: I'm calling this The EagleOwl Swap, after the birds closely associated with Zeus and Athena (Also I have seen a fanart with the seven and birds associated with their godly parents, and I was inspired)
Jason wakes up confused, surrounded by his bestfriend Leo and girlfriend Piper, who he doesn't remember. Everything proceeds normally until their teacher turns into a goat and goes zoo-wee-mama, Leo falls to his death till Jason saves him and Piper acts a bit suspicious. Hmmmm.....
The chariot arrives and in it... is not Annabeth. Not Percy either. Nope. It's... Katie Gardener.
Percy and Annabeth had disappeared a few months ago, and getting a bunch of feral demigods to listen is hard if you're not popular. So all the head cabin members are tired, and Jason was apparently the lead they needed to find them, according to their local oracle. Too bad Jason has zero memories
Camp sequence ensues. Leo fits in like a fish to water, while Jason's mopping around being lonely as there's no one else in his cabin. Till he finds Piper moping a bit Piper's Life Hacks 101: If you don't fit in a grp, just pretend you do; maybe then you would find happiness in this cruel world. Jason finds the life hack to be bs, but Piper's too occupied with other things (foreshadowing) to care about being comfortable
They do the quest to save Hera and coach, and the mission is a mess. Leo is pretty much Elsa but with fire powers, Jason has found out throwing water at enemies then electrocuting them is both effective and fun, so now they have to waste time stealing water bottles from stores or else Jason would pout the entire mission, and Piper discovers Charmspeak for the first time, which makes her scary.
We have Leo trauma-dumping with a smile as he talks about the whole 'mom died in a fire thanks to this weird grass-lady' ending that convo with 'everything's fine, I'm fine' when clearly it's not, your friends can see the pain in your eyes, leo stop holding in the pain-
Piper also trauma dumps about how lonely a child of a celebrity's life is, being piled with expectations, forced to not rock the boat at all, people only sucking up to her cuz everyone knows and wants to be friends with THE Tristan Mclean's daughter, pretending to be something she's not
Which is why she and Leo are best friends, cuz boi has no clue what Hollywood is in the first place, (look he had been running for half his life, cut him some slack) and she finds his jokes funny. (the first)
Jason, is an excellent detective no matter what, and gets suspicious of Piper. "Wait, if you're a people pleaser how did you get sent to the Wilderness School. Minors who repeatedly commit offenses goes to prision, and yet you haven't done anything". "Uhhhhh" , a monster attacks them, saving Piper from almost blowing her cover.
Piper questions her sexuality when she meets the hunters, Leo tries to be supportive, but fails. "Hey, I'm an aromantic, and even I can feel the romance between you and Piper" "...Leo. Never flirt. Ever" ( Fun fact, I said the exact same stuff to someone on behalf of my friend; suffice to say it wasn't my proudest moment)
They're both clueless to the angst stuff happening in the cave. Thalia is struggling to keep it together cuz her baby brother is all grown up and she can't celebrate that becuz he doesn't even know her and that's another person she has to add in the list of "loved one she eventually has to see die becuz she's immortal"
Surprise, as they near the place Hera's trapped, Piper gets revealed that's she been working with the giants to get Jason captured when he was least expecting it cause he's a threat. And Piper would sacrifice Jason, a guy she met like a week ago, for her dad whom which they kidnapped like a few months ago and then blackmailed her to be their spy.
Sike, the giants decides to kill Tristan and the trio instead of just Jason, which was not part of the deal, but Gaea hates Aphrodite and all her kids cuz they are Uranus spawns, and Gaea hates her ex-husband a lot. It's also convenient that two thirds of the trio are part of the prophecy of the Seven, so gotta kill them all. (Pokemon theme plays in the background) (Cuz only Hazel, Frank, Jason and Leo were confirmed to be a part of the Seven, and the other three were added later on )
They free Tristan, but Piper gets captured instead. Jason doesn't want to save her, considering she was willing to kill him off a few minutes ago, but Leo knows how Piper feels, considering Gaea screwed him over as well, who he now is 95% sure was that grass lady that killed his mom, and urges Jason to save them. Even if he's miffed by the fact that Piper got to keep her memories thanks to Gaea's interference intact while Jason and Leo's didn't.
"Wait hold up, so Hera and Gaea messed up my memories? So my friendships are all a lie!" "But that doesn't mean I'm not your friend anymore" Leo starts bawling at that, much to Jason surprise, because he has a friend after so long of being alone (poor boy)
Piper meanwhile regrets everything she has ever done, and not for the first time, considers suicide. But after getting riled up by someone from the shadows telling her she's useless, as a daughter of Aphrodite, she gets reminded of her will to live so that she can one day prove that stuck up manager of her father's that she's more than just a pretty face, and she will prove that manager and the rando in the shadows that she's better than them, basically living through sheer spite baby (Poor Piper, the little smolo blorbo)
They arrive at the place where both Piper and Hera are held. Gaea speaks through that mortal from the shadows (we making her more in this au cuz why not), whch is wayyyyyy more creepy then just talking through their dreams and starts egging Leo on being like "Heyyyyy, ya I did murder your mom" before forcing said mortal she was speaking through to kill themselves. We realise that Gaea has just been picking out random mortals and controllling them as she doesn't have a body herself.
Hera gets freed, Leo overcomes his fire trauma,Piper reedeems herself in Jason's books by reviving him back from the dead. Apparently having a pep talk from Leo and the grief from losing Jason, who is legit her best friend now, can get Piper to unlock her full power of charmspeaking. Leo's just happy he has a home again, with two best friends and a fairy godmother through Hera.
Honestly it's funny when you imagine Jason and Piper learning about Hera putting Leo in fire when he was a baby and being horrified, and he's like it wasn't traumatic, it was a learning experience. Also Hera, in the disguise of a babysitter, gave him ice cream for breakfast when he was five, so she's apparently one of his favourite gods.
Jason was apparently taken from the roman camp in an effort to combine the two camps together after centuries of bloodshed and fighting cuz they need to beat Gaea. So yay, Jason finds out atleast one thing about himself. Hera does promise that he will regain his memories when he finds the roman camp, which she doesn't disclose the location of.
Also piper was never intended to be part of the seven in the first place, but becuz she tagged along and put herself within Hera's radar and has a pretty nice power that would be very helpful, she gets put in the prophecy as well, so yay, she finally feels included for the first time in a very looooong time
Also at the begging of Leo, who is Hera's favoruite, decides to be a bit more helpful and give one more info: Annabeth's at the roman camp, and she also reveals that she intially took Percy first to represent the greeks, but he went missing after two days for some reason, so she took annabeth.
Oh in this au Piper and Leo do not become cabin heads, cause they are too busy saving the world to try to lead a cabin, also Piper finally fits in camp cuz she goes against her hollywood teachings and talks back at Drew, showing her true self after a long time. Hephastus cabin does not have that curse of not taking things able to work, but they do find the secret cabin. And they start preparing to go to the roman camp.

light on
The one where Y/N is the daughter of a legendary Team USA coach and used to attend the development program with the boys. 8 years after they last saw each other in person, a reunion brings Jack and Y/N back into each other’s lives... and hearts.

XII XIII - red wine, mistakes, mythology XIV
“Hey, Riv… How cold does it get here at night?” Trevor asked nonchalantly as he walked into the kitchen, where the groom-to-be was helping David cook his famous meatloaf for dinner.
“It gets a bit chilly, but it’s bearable. At least that’s what I’ve been told.” he shrugged, tasting the buttermilk smashed potatoes his fiancé was feeding him. “Mmm… This is amazing. You nailed it, babe.” the designer cheered, getting a kiss in return for his compliment. “Why are you asking, Z?”
“Nothing.” he answered in a heartbeat, clearing his throat as he ran his right hand through his left arm, already dreading the feel of cold water against his skin. “Just one last question: are there any potentially dangerous or deadly animals whose habitat is this specific lake?”
“What kind of a question is that?” the oldest Y/L/N snorted, cleaning his hands on his apron, leaning against the counter, looking straight at him.
“I may or may have not lost at foosball and, as a result, Y/N and Cole are making Jack and I swim naked in the lake tonight.”
“That’s - ”
“Inhuman? Cruel? I think so too!”
“I was going to say fucking hilarious, but yeah, whatever floats your boat.”
“Great, thanks a lot.” he groaned, rolling his eyes and preparing to head back to the living room.
“Not so fast, young man. You’re in charge of setting the table.” River informed him, a stern look on his face.
“Do I have to?” Trevor whined, turning on his heels to enter the room again.
“Either you set the table or you’ll be the only one not eating dessert.”
“Fine!” the Ducks' player sighed. “Where’s… Everything?”
 *
“Do you need help with that?” Leo asked, sitting on the floor next to Alex.
“Nah, thanks little man, I’m good. I think I got it.” the young man replied, picking up another piece.
David's nephew took a glance at the puzzle that had yet to be completed. Its pieces were scattered messily around the mahogany coffee table. He knew Alex had no idea how to get it done.
“These two don’t fit. You can’t force them together if they don’t match.” the boy pointed out, grabbing the pieces he was talking about. “I don’t mind helping you out, mom said I should take a break from reading and talk to people… You look like you could use some company.”
“Alright, kid. Show me what you’ve got.” Alex conceded.
Leo immediately put together one of the corners of the picture, making a square. After that, he got the other three done as his parents’ friend looked on, baffled by the kid’s ability to assemble the pieces at that speed.
“Okay, I suck at puzzles. Thanks, little dude.” he sighed as he high-fived Leo, who showed him his best toothless grin.
Y/N observed their interaction, entertained by the facial expressions Alex was making while the small child instructed him as to where to fit the next piece. The doctor averted her attention to Jack, on whose lap her feet were currently resting.
The Devils' player was watching the news on the television attentively, failing to notice how his former linemate was shamelessly gawking at him ever since they had sat down, after Y/N facetimed Joey with an overly excited Cole by her side.
He had been growing out his hair and she liked how it looked on him. His jawline was as sharp as ever, making him look even more handsome. She couldn’t lie, he was certainly the most good-looking man she had ever met.
“Dinner’s ready!” River chirped, making her way to the pair, who promptly stood up. “When you’re done eye-fucking loverboy feel free to join us.” he whispered in Y/N's ear, going back to the kitchen to get the food.
“Ha! I finished it!” Alex chanted, extremely proud of himself.
Y/N and Jack looked at their friend, clearly amused by his antics.
“Of course I couldn’t have done it without my sidekick, this little brainiac over here.” he jested, picking Leo up and throwing him over his shoulder. “We’re going to wash our hands up for dinner.”
Everyone gathered around the large dining table, picking their seats randomly.
Y/N was sat between Alex and Leo, who was next to Quinn, right in front of Jack, who had Trevor and Cole by his side. Their puzzle-challenged friend was chatting enthusiastically about comic books as the seven-year-old tried to keep up with the information overload coming his way.
“Here it is! David's world renowned meatloaf, with a side of buttermilk smashed potatoes.” River announced, setting the finest china they could find on the table, as her fiancé followed closely behind, nursing a bottle of wine and a bunch of Capri Suns.
“Let’s not forget about the booze!” he joked, going around the table serving everyone.
Trevor and Alex held their cups up, ready to get their fill, like every other adult sitting at the table.
“Mmm, no. You two get one of these bad boys, just like Leo.” Y/N chuckled, switching their wine glasses for the laminated foil pouches that David had handed her.
“Z, don’t worry, in solidarity to you I will also drink juice. Junior, mind giving me one of those as well?” Cole asked.
“Sure, I’ll go get one for you from the kitchen. Let me just take these back.” the doctor replied, getting up and taking the three wine glasses with her.
Unfortunately for her, she seemed to have forgotten the small step at the entrance of the kitchen, tripping and instantly losing her balance as she entered, falling, shards spreading around the ceramic tile.
“Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit.” she mumbled, trying to gather the broken glass in her hands.
A sharp pain rushed up her hand, small droplets of blood hitting the once pristine floor as she accidentally cut her finger.
“Fuck!” Y/N all but howled, a couple of unwanted tears escaping her eyes.
“You owe me a quarter!” Leo declared from his seat at the table, as she heard a chair being dragged forcefully over the hardwood floor of the living room.
Jack hurried to come to her aid, helping her up and placing her hand under the faucet to clean the small gash on her skin. He wrapped her small, throbbing finger on a clean dish towel, applying pressure over it.
“Let me see if I can find a band-aid.” he spoke quietly, as if she were a scared deer who would probably bounce the first chance it got, letting go of her hand as he went looking for the kit he had seen River store in one of the cabinets. “Okay, got it. Here.”
His large hand held hers up as he ripped the band aid’s packaging open with his teeth, carefully placing it over her wound.
“There.” the Devils' player smiled, holding her bandaged finger to his lips and giving it a small kiss. “All better.”
Suddenly, butterflies rose in Y/N's stomach, making her cheeks flush a deep shade of pink as his lips touched her skin. She removed her hand from his, chuckling nervously.
“Thanks, Rowdy. Let me just clean this up and I’ll join you guys in a minute.”
“Y/N Y/L/N, leave it as it is, we’ll handle it after dinner, alright?” the groom-to-be yelled from the adjacent room.
“You heard the boss.” Jack smirked, moving to let her go ahead. “After you.”
Y/N reluctantly headed back to her seat, handing Cole the Capri Sun she managed to retrieve before the brunette man practically forced her leave the mine field that was the kitchen and mouthing I’m sorry to David and River for being the reason they would now be losing their deposit, to which her brother and future brother-in-law replied with matching mocking eye-rolls.
Dinner went smoothly, with Trevor and Alex occasionally complaining about not getting to drink the fancy vintage wine David had brought from his own personal cellar.
“This wine has put me into the mood, someone play me a song!” River demanded, eyeing Jack.
“You want me to sing... And acapella?”
“Of course not, we’ve got a piano over there. David can play! Get your butt over there, D!” the eldest Y/L/N demanded. “You too, songbird.” he motioned to his friend with his head. “And don’t think I forgot about you, Y/N.”
The doctor tried to protest, but it was useless. River would get what River wanted, one way or another.
David, Jack and Y/N got up and padded to the shiny musical instrument, with the wedding entourage in tow.
“I feel like I should remind you I haven’t done anything like this in years and the only public I ever have are Mia and Volcra.” she warned, propping herself up on the piano, a useless effort to try and match Aleksander’s height. “Any requests?”
“Surprise us.” the groom-to-be shrugged, sipping on his glass of red wine.
“I’ve got a great one.” David announced, whispering something into Y/N's ear. “What do you think?”
She smiled at his suggestion, nodding and repositioning herself on the lid so she was closer to Jack, to let him in on what they were singing. “You start.”
“You’re just too good to be true… I can’t take my eyes off of you… You’d be like heaven to touch, I wanna hold you so much…” the raven-haired man sang, shutting his eyes in order to be able to concentrate on the lyrics and not the beautiful woman perched on the piano right beside him.
“Aw, they sang this at the mock-talent show in camp.” Cole cooed, slapping Trevor's arm to get his attention.
“There, there, Claude… Are the hormones kicking in?” he joked.
“Shut it.” he smiled, nudging his side.
“No, god, they’re not singing this again!” Quinn moaned to River, sick and tired of hearing that particular duet.
“Quinner, I’m trying to keep up my matchmaking stats, let these fools sing all the love songs they want…” the groom-to-be scolded him in a hushed tone, hiding behind his glass.
“They’re so sweet they might give me diabetes, I love them.” Alex chirped from behind them, mouth stuffed with dessert.
“Pardon the way that I stare, there’s nothing else to compare… The sight of you leaved me weak, there’s no more words left to speak…” Y/N sang softly, smiling when Jack's eyes met hers, just after he finished his part.
Jack stared at her in awe, completely hypnotized by her voice. He had forgotten just how much he loved it when she sang. Her unwavering talent had him whipped. He simply couldn’t take his eyes off her, swallowing hard when he realized just how stunning she looked at that very moment. Only Y/N could make sitting on top of a piano the sexiest thing he had ever witnessed.
“But if you feel like I feel, please let me know that it’s real…” the doctor harmonized as she slid off the lid, ruffling through Jack's hair, not once breaking eye contact.
“I love you baby, and if it’s quite alright, I need you baby, to warm a lonely night… I love you baby, trust me when I say…” they sang in unison, smiling widely at each other.
Y/N picked up his hand, a jolt of energy rushing through her body, as it did Jack's, as her twirled her around.
“Oh pretty baby, don’t bring me down, I pray, oh pretty baby, now that I’ve found you, stay… And let me love you baby, let me love you...”
For a moment, everything stopped, and they were the only people in the room. No entourage, no piano, no past, no future. They gazed into each other’s eyes, breathless.
“Alright! Beautiful!” Trevor clapped loudly, breaking the silence. “Sorry, Junior, you know I love you, but there’s going to be enough sappy love songs at the wedding and, as a very romantic dude, there’s still a limit to how many of those I can listen to before barfing.” he explained, not getting a response from the pair.
“Z, you fucker.” River chided, picking up the wine bottle and pouring himself a bit more.
“Hey! That’s another quarter!” Leo protested.
“I know, darling, uncle River is being very naughty, but Trevor is insufferable.” the oldest Y/L/N shrugged.
“Okay, Leo, time for bed.” David announced, giving his fiancé a pointed look.
“It’s only half past ten, uncle David. It’s Friday, can’t I stay up for a little while longer?” the seven-year-old bargained, pouting.
“We’ve had a long day, honey…. Didn’t the flight wear you out?”
The boy shook his head.
“Well, it’s bedtime anyway, buddy.” David dictated, picking his nephew up. “Say goodnight to everyone.”
“Night…” Leo sighed defeatedly, a loud yawn escaping his lips, as if prompted.
“Oh, you weren’t tired, hu?” River laughed, rubbing his back and kissing his forehead. “Love you, kid. Uncle David will help you get ready for bed. We'll all go to sleep in a few as well.”
 *
After cleaning up the mess in the kitchen and doing the dishes, the small group headed outside, gathering around the large firepit in the back deck. River laid back against David’s chest on a sunbed, beside Alex, Trevor and Cole, who rested on the three remaining chairs.
Jack and Y/N sat right next to Quinn on the wooden pavement, silently looking at the fire as the rest of the group chatted away excitedly about the next morning. They were planning on spending it relaxing and exploring their beautiful surroundings before the big day arrived. From time to time, they would glance at each other, small smiles etching on their faces as they divided their attention between the ardent sparks of the flames, the shining stats and their friends’ conversation.
The clock struck midnight, much to their surprise. Time does fly by when you’re in good company. Hadn’t it been for the ringtone of the alarm set on Trevor's phone, they would’ve never guessed what time it was.
Trevor rose from his comfortable seat, stripping off his shirt, throwing it on the sunbed.
“What the hell are you doing?” Cole inquired, raising an eyebrow as his friend tried to take off his sneakers.
“Skinny dipping at midnight, remember?”
“I had completely forgotten about that!” Y/N crowed, slapping her own forehead. “Cole, how did we let this slide?”
“I think the booze kind of mellowed me out, Junior.” the blond man smiled down at her lazily, his head resting on his fist. “My sincerest apologies.”
“Does this mean we don’t have to do it?” Trevor asked with a hopeful glint in his green eyes, getting his jeans back up.
“Oh no, sweetheart, you still have to do it. A deal is a deal, right?” she smirked at her friend, balancing herself on Quinn so she could get up.
“This is so evil of you…Why do I keep underestimating you, woman?” he grumbled, stomping his feet on the ground after having to get his pants down once again.
“I’ve been asking myself that same question.” Y/N winked, patting his back as he went down the pathway to the lake in only his briefs, holding the rest of his garments in his arms, followed closely by Cole. “You too, Hughes.”
The brunette man sighed and got up as well, taking his sweatshirt and t-shirt off to reveal his chiseled torso, throwing them over his shoulder and following his friends.
“Y/N, if Jack gets pneumonia and my mom asks... I was not here." Quinn mumbled.
“This is going to be good. Watch me document all of it.” River chuckled.
“I’m getting them some towels, the temperature is supposed to stoop lower in the next hour.” David informed them, squeezing River's hand before leaving their side.
“Do we wake Alex up?” Y/N asked, looking back at her friend’s sleeping figure a few feet away from them.
“No, leave him be. You know how grumpy he gets when we interrupt his version of beauty sleep.” the designer reasoned, dragging her along with them down to the lake.
Y/N hoped by the time they got there, their friends would already be in the water, no awkward and unnecessary nakedness in sight.
Sure enough, Jack was already fully wet, his hair clinging to his forehead before he swept it back in one quick motion. Trevor, on the other hand, was still psyching himself up to get water up past his knees.
“You don’t have to do it, you dumbass! You'll just have to physically fight Cole and Y/N.” Quinn taunted.
“Oh, what a glorious night.” River sighed, taking photographs with a satisfied grin on his face.
A snort escaped Y/N's nose when she noticed the friend they called the big child had a small duck tattooed in one of his ass cheeks.
Trevor turned around at the unbecoming sound of it, immediately ready to protest the mockery, giving the people on the shore a full-frontal view of his body.
“Oh, god, Z, turn around, no one wants to see that!” Quinn screeched, covering his eyes, while Cole, Y/N and Quinn bent over themselves, their stomachs aching from laughing so hard.
“What? It’s not like it’s the first time you’ve all seen it!”
Quinn shook his head and looked down. “I have seen too much of you already."
“Go on, Zegras. We’re waiting!” River urged, crossing his arms over his chest after he recomposed himself.
The Devils' player was watching the whole thing pan out from the water, not being able to keep a straight face when Trevor made a run for it and finally decided to dive, only to come up screaming in agony.
“Fuck! It’s so cold! Okay, we’ve done our share, let’s get out of here.”
“Do you need me to get your floaties, boys?” Y/N teased from the shore.
“We’re fine. If it comes to it, I’ll use Z as my buoy.” Jack jokingly waved her off, going underwater once more.
“That’s enough. I think Tiffani with an i will kill me if I make you freeze to death. You can come out now!” the doctor directed, seeing David arrive with the towels. “Let’s hope next time you try to make a bet, you’re aware of who you’re up against.” she smirked, turning her back on them and making her way back to the cabin.
“Where’s Alex?” she wondered, glancing around the large terrace, not being able to spot his curls anywhere.
“He probably woke up, saw we left him out here alone and ran inside. You know how paranoid he is about nocturnal animals, even though I already explained to him there’s only a one percent chance he’ll be attacked by a night owl.” Quinn theorized.
River, Jack, Trevor, Cole and David were quick to join them, the two swimmers now fully clothed. The seven of them sat back down by the fire, warming up on a particularly chilly summer night.
“This has been extremely fun, but I’ve been up since five in the morning and I seriously need to catch up on the wasted sleeping hours.” the groom-to-be informed them, a yawn escaping his lips as he turned to face his fiancé. “You’re coming, babe?”
“Yeah.” David replied, giving the rest of them a half salute. “See you in the morning, guys.”
Trevor eventually went inside as well, after he complained for an hour about how he couldn’t feel his body and how Y/N and Cole would end up having to visit his grave, forever regretting having forced him to swim in such terrible conditions, leaving a widowed Tiffani with an i and a fatherless pup to fend for themselves. Of course Cole ended up slapping him in the back of his head and followed his lead, because, in his words “beauty doesn’t just happen”.
Y/N and Jack were the only ones left on the deck, looking up at the shimmering stars, most of them unknown to the pair due to the fact they were concealed by the overwhelmingly bright city lights back home.
“I had forgotten just how beautiful the night sky is.” she half-whispered, hugging her knees.
“My mother says we don’t stop and look at the sky as often as we should and that’s why we roam around without any sense of direction and waste time looking for things that have been right in front of us all alone.” the Devils' player recited, while laying by her side, tapping his fingertips on his chest.
“Ellen's a wise woman.”
“Yeah, she gets all spiritual at family dinners.”
She snorted at his reply, reaching out to lightly nudge his side.
“You know, I spent a week or so in Fort Apache a lifetime ago, and met this wonderful woman named Cora, who was ninety-nine back then. She had the most amazing stories to tell and she spoke with so much joy I could swear her eyes shined as bright as these stars.”
The doctor paused, glancing at Jack, who was apparently hanging on every word she said.
“Cora told me how the Native-American explain the origin of the night sky. You see, back when the sky was completely dark, there was a chief with two sons: a younger son, One Who Walks All Over the Sky, and an older son, Walking About Early. The younger son was sad to see the sky always so dark so he made a mask out of wood and pitch and lit it on fire, originating the sun. He travelled across the sky each and every day, sleeping below the horizon at night. When he snored, sparks flew from his mask and created the stars.” Y/N remembered, pointing at the enormous cluster of stars above them. “The older brother got jealous so, in order to impress their father, he smeared fat and charcoal on his face, making his own path across the sky, becoming the moon.”
“You still know all of that by heart?” he asked, intrigued by his longtime friend’s knowledge of other cultures.
“I carry Cora and every person who’s had an impact on me in my heart everywhere I go. They shaped me into the woman I am today and I am so thankful for them. I’ve learned that every single moment of our lives is a gift. This. Here and now. Stargazing with you, a day away from my brother’s wedding. Moments like this are worth all the heartache and pain I’ve gone through, because I know sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.”
A chill ran through the doctor's body, which warned her it was fighting the inevitability of the decrease of its temperature should she decide to remain outside. She shook it off, stroking her arms with her hands and internally beating herself up for not bringing a jacket when she came outside, but not wanting to ruin the quiet moment between the two of them by going inside.
“Are you cold?” Jack's warm voice and the touch of his hand on her arm bringing her back to reality. “Jesus, Mess, you’ve got goosebumps all over your skin. Take my sweatshirt.”
“Then you will be cold. I feel like we’ve had this conversation before.” she chuckled, as he removed the garment for the second time that night.
“Please, I was born in May, I’m hot-blooded. And yeah, we have. Plymouth, about a month or so ago.” he retorted, handing her his favorite comfy hoodie.
The coach's daughter rolled her eyes, reluctantly taking it and putting it on.
“Warm enough?”
“Weirdly enough, no.” she sighed, rubbing her hands together.
“Okay, then. I’ll guess we’ll have to give plan B a try.” Jack said, positioning himself behind Y/N and wrapping his strong arms around her. “Better now?”
The doctor blushed furiously, thankful he couldn’t see the deep crimson color staining her cheeks. She thought about fidgeting in his embrace so he would let go of her and they wouldn’t have to be so close to each other but, against the logical thing to do, Y/N let herself sink further into his chest.
“Yes.” She murmured. “Thank you.”
He simply smiled in response, taking in everything that was rushing through his mind in a comfortable silence.
“Do you know why Stevie and I broke up?” Jack blurted out after a couple of minutes, catching her by surprise.
“I don’t think you mentioned it, no.”
“She wanted me to propose.”
Y/N looked back at him, her big brown eyes urging him to continue speaking.
“Stevie gave me an ultimatum because she was tired of waiting for me to make any kind of decisions regarding our relationship and… I told her I couldn’t marry her.”
“Why?” she asked, immediately scolding herself internally for prying.
“Because, even though I loved her, we were pieces that didn’t fit, even if I wasn’t completely aware of that at the time. I just knew I wouldn’t be able to pop the question. And, as I have learned, if the pieces don’t fit like they should, you can’t force them together. It will only lead to resentment and self-loathing, and I didn’t want her to go through that.”
The doctor blinked twice, processing what he had just told her. She never thought she’d see this side of Jack. In fact, she didn’t even know it existed. Sure, he had opened up to her back in Michigan, but he hadn’t revealed how much of a selfless, loving man he was. It warmed her heart knowing that he wouldn’t knowingly and willingly hurt those around him.
“Wow… Rowdy…”
“I told you I didn’t feel heartbroken, and I don’t, but I do feel guilty at times. Have I made a mistake? Have I wasted her time? Was that cowardly of me, to run away from her and our relationship?”
“You didn’t run away. You just knew that it was for the best. I worried for months on end after my marriage ended that I had made a mistake. I was so scared. Then it hit me: we weren’t good together, and we certainly weren’t built to last. I couldn’t just drag it out just because our vows included till death do us part. You’re supposed to live life at its fullest, love deeply and be happy. I mean, if you’re not happy, then what’s the point?”
Jack averted his eyes to the dark sky once again, thinking about Y/N's words. Her inebriating scent invaded his senses, the feeling of her hand on his arm making him to the conclusion he was right where he wanted to be. The pieces finally fit.
Getting up quietly, she picked up a few small logs from the basket near the firepit to revive the fire that had almost gone out while they spoke.
“One day I’ll get myself a red Chevrolet pickup and I’m going to drive through America with it.” Y/N said, changing the subject, as she sat back down next to him and showed him one of her mesmerizing smiles.
“Why that car specifically?” the brunette man inquired, moving to lay on his back.
“I don’t know, I’ve always wanted one. I guess it’s just my own version of the dream all those movies talk about: a vintage car, my little girl and an adventure. Maybe I’ll even go further and drive over to Canada, visit Quinny, who knows?” the beautiful woman trailed off, mimicking his movements, resting her body beside his.
“Fuck, that’s so much better than any of my dreams. Now I want a road trip.” he complained, letting out a chuckle.
“Maybe someday we’ll finally get to do what we really want to do.”
Jack gazed at Y/N adoringly, watching as she struggled to keep her eyes open.
“Someday can’t get here quick enough."

About T'pril and her attitude, thinking about things from her POV made me feel for her just a tiny bit. Like not MUCH at all but think about it:
She raised T'pring who is an outstanding person, but it doesn't seem like they have much in common. T'pring struggles to spend time with her mother and, sure, that's because time with T'pril seems to be a lot like swallowing vinegar -- and she knows that, knows her daughter's mind and understands why her company is not preferred. It was played for laughs, but it was actually kind of sad.
And T'pring's career? Something tells me she got some grief from T'pril about wanting to work with social outcasts.
So T'pring is distant and has a high stress job that's potentially dangerous, and T'pril's husband is a checked-out yes man.
And then her daughter is betrothed to someone from the S'chn T'gai family, who are famous and infamous on Vulcan and, well, everywhere. Sure the connection to Sarek is good for her husband's career etc., but the S'chn T'gais are very much THAT family in Vulcan society. There's political intrigue, assassination plots, the danger posed by murderous Vulcan separatists, constant contact with aliens, illegitimate and/or missing children who are never spoken about, every chance one might run into T'pau at a family gathering -- and let's not forget that her daughter's prospective father-in-law married a human, and T'pring's betrothed is a half-human in Starfleet doing Surak knows what, who is currently being shunned by his father.
I mean, whew. That's a lot for one woman from a moderately high status(?) Vulcan family to process.
And then there's Amanda, a human who joined the S'chn T'gais and has seemingly thrived there and in her life on Vulcan which, according to T'pril and Vulcans like her, mere humans should not be able to do. So Amanda is formidable and Sarek's family history is ... a considerable challenge. Given all that, you would think she would be on best behavior, but T'pril doesn't try to blunt her xenophobia one bit. Why?
I think her antagonism is based in fear and the fact that she's intimidated by the whole situation, and by Amanda, who has never behaved the way T'pril expected a human to behave. Amanda was not overly emotional and failed to react emotionally to constant criticism and insults, and what's more she had the audacity to treat T'pril kindly, gently thanking her at the conclusion of the ceremony -- which T'pril had to endure in a human environment, in enemy territory.
After watching those scenes again I'm sure that this is how Amanda dealt with T'pril from the start of their relationship: with an excess of grace, and patience, like T'pril was someone else's misbehaving child who didn't know any better. Which is fair and accurate, but also infuriating to T'pril, because how could she, and by extension her daughter, ever measure up? And after that first misstep, during some first meeting between the families where she made her disdain for Spock and Amanda clear, what could she do but double down in an effort to save face? Because how could they fit in with the S'chn T'gais, a family of intergalactic players who were sure to look down on them for being provincial, ordinary racists? In T'pril's mind they couldn't, they won't, they're doomed!

Fortune Lover Pirates Meta
Due to certain bots that the staff do nothing about infecting my post with likes in order to try to infect the site further, I decided to delete the original post and make this one as a replacement. I failed to save the question before deleting by mistake, so please accept the meta-styled opening presented below.
Fortune Lover, the most popular game from Ai Fortuna Software, has gained a bit of infamy among new fans as The Pirate Game With No Pirates. Indeed, a common question on the forums and various social media sits is "Why is there so much pirate content for Fortune Lover if its set in a magic school?"
We here at LOGO Media Publication have thus decided to do a little digging on the internet and have come back with all the fun data you need to get a better understanding of why it is that a pirate's life is often seen as Maria's lot!
Tumblr
queenmaryhunt I've finally figured it out! Maria is Martin Campbell's daughter! It all makes sense! Her father disappeared when she was little, so she doesn't know he's technically the Pirate King, let alone any pirate at all! The timeline even matches up! captainnatalia I know you didn't insult the Gentleman Pirate by comparing him to that lowlife that abandoned Maria and her mom because of rumors! Martin Campbell would never be like that! bluejetpack yeah! martin was abandoned and alone until captain natalia took him in! he'd never do that to his own wife and daughter! queenmaryhunt No! Listen! In Martin Campbell: Pirate King's secret ending, he told Captain Natalia's grave that he was going to sail out for the last time so he could pull enough money together to get his unnamed wife and daughter a house in the capital so they wouldn't "be bothered by close-minded villagers anymore.' And what did Maria's voice actor say in her interview when asked about if Maria had any friends in her village? "Maria never really fit in with the villagers after her magic came in at the age of five and the people assumed she was the result of her mother having an affair with a noble. Her dad even disappeared a year later." geomaria-stan1123 That's her opinion, not official lore! The DLC they're going to release is on Golden Sands. In the first game, Old Baron Terni owns that land, and he let the Fortuna Amata make berth there as part of an unofficial agreement. You'll see when the DLC comes out that he's probably going to cameo as part of an old painting or something. Maria being Martin Campbell's daughter is as likely as them adding in a Katarina Route to a DLC!
queenmaryhunt You all owe me an apology! "The Gentleman Pirate disappeared nine years ago, which is why we took up his contract with the new Baron." That's what Marie said! Nine years! Back when Maria would've been 6, you know, when Maria's father suddenly disappeared! marikata9430 I'll take posts that keep getting funnier with each DLC for 500. fortune-lover-heritage-posts Fortune Lover Heritage Post (August 28, 2017).

sophiasemeraldprincess So, I'm probably giving myself away as a newbie to the fandom, but what's the deal with the pirates in this fandom? Everywhere I look, there are pirate OCs, Pirate Captain Katarina, Pirate Maria, Maria on a pirate ship... I thought, from all of this, that Fortune Lover had pirates all over the place mc-gentlemanpirate As a lifelong fan of the Ai Fortuna Software Multiverse, I can answer this one, but it's a bit of a long story. See, back at the start, Ai Fortuna was a small company that released their first game, Martin Campbell: Gentleman Pirate. The game was very popular in its time, detailing the adventures of a young beggar child named Martin, who stowed away on a ship to get away from it all, only to be discovered and mentored by Captain Natalia Petra Campbell, sworn enemy of the undead Pirate King Black Boris Edmund Guy, who dies at his hand by the end of the tutorial. From there, it's Martin's revenge quest centered around him figuring out his place in the world of piracy, whether or not he'll be a gentleman of fortune or a cutthroat mercenary. The good end, which is the canon one, has him kill Black Boris and being proclaimed the Pirate King. Since Martin and Maria share initials, as well as having identically fluffy blond hair, a lot of fans gravitated towards the idea that Maria was his daughter with his wife, who were both mentioned in the sequel, Martin Campbell: Pirate King. (Fun fact: When Fortune Lover's first trailer came out in 2014, a lot of people even thought that Maria was Martin in disguise in a midquel game.) Eventually, when the DLC started rolling out, the first was Golden Sands, set in his usual place of berth, the eponymous island, and it was revealed he had only disappeared nine years prior, which was when Maria's father had left. This was all speculation for the longest time, until the databook revealed this was always the lead writer's plan, with the Pirate's Promise DLC having been planned to be the sequel until the studio came in and ordered Mysteries in the Magical Ministry, which did... Alright, but was not as well received as Pirate's Promise, which is currently being made into its own spinoff series. TL;DR - Ai Fortuna Software was originally a pirate game company and Fortune Lover was written by a pirate series writer, so the fans immediately latched onto the pirate game parts because of the fact that it was a loving continuation of a beloved series. marikata9430 Also because Romanceable Pirate Captain Katarina. marisofilove2020 Definitely because Pirate Captain Katarina. marydeservesbetter Lots of people thirsting for Katarina even in an old uniform and bandages and a legitimate development history lesson for the series. Fortune Lover fandom, never change.
Fortune Lover Databook
Tumblr media
From Left to Right: Sophia Ascart, Katarina Claes, and Mary Hunt as they appeared in the first poster for Fortune Lover that portrayed the rivals.
Fortune Fact: While Sophia Ascart and Mary Hunt were officially named at the time of the first poster of the rivals being released, they and Katarina Claes, at the time named Tatiana Terni, did not, at the time, have any set personalities, leading to a lot of fans to start to speculate. Many had naturally guessed that Tatiana would be the primary antagonist, and there had actually been some suspicion that Sophia was actually a ghost, and that Mary was secretly in love with Maria and would be a capture target. There was also a lot of speculation that Tatiana would be revealed to be a pirate or at least affiliated with them due to her being a Terni.
Bonus Fortune Fact: Fans of the Martin Campbell series had quickly taken notice of Tatiana's surname, as well as Maria's own, which is believed to be the reason why studio heads told the creator to rename Tatiana, to avoid any further incorrect announcements on fansites that this was a Martin Campbell game.

Pictured: Maria Campbell's main character reference for sprites.
Fortune Fact: Maria Campbell's signature attire was the result of a massive server crash at Ai Fortuna Software's main office, which included Keith's original design from when he was Noelia Flores's twin, grey-haired Geordo, and Sophia With Glasses. Initially, Maria's hair had sea shells, in place of flowers, and her dress was originally navy blue, with black boots with brass buckles, and a similarly colored belt and the bow around her neck was originally a black neckerchief, all of which were meant to call to mind Captain Natalia, who wore green and had an unbuttoned greatcoat, but otherwise wore similar attire. This was likely what contributed to the fan believe that she was secretly Martin.
Interviews
Excerpt from an interview with Maria Campbell's voice actress:
Interviewer: So, you said that you once met the English voice actress for Maria at a convention, and that the two of you are friends. Have the two of you ever noticed any similar issues that you have to deal with when playing Maria? Since the DLCs tend to get delayed elsewhere, I presume that she doesn't have to clear her schedule as often as you do for them...
MVA: *chuckles* No, she doesn't have to deal with that, but one thing we both learned is that we're both big fans of the first Martin Campbell game.
Interviewer: Really?
MVA: Yeah, so we both had the same issue, which was that this is an Ai Fortuna game, and the main character's last name is Campbell, so of course we both did the read with Maria using what the Director to this day calls "Martin Voices" whenever I do it.
Interviewer: Martin Voices?
MVA: Martin speaks differently to different people in the game, using Yamanote most of the time because that's what Natalia taught him. When he's really angry, though, he slips into his native Kyushu. In America, he usually uses RP British, but slips into some other British accent that I honestly don't remember the name of at the moment for the life of me. Martin voices are us copying that, even though Maria is supposed to talk more in a Shitamachi dialect in Japanese and a more "standardized" American accent that I also can't recall the entire time.
Interviewer: How did that work out?
MVA: If you go online and look up "Martin's Daughter Scary Flirts" or "British Maria Flirts With Katarina" online, you can see how the fans reacted to the released recordings of either of our slip-ups... I think someone actually animated the English one to include a kiss. But yeah, we both went in under the understanding that her missing dad was actually Martin, and now with all the DLCs out, we know we're right.
---
Excerpt from an Interview with Katarina's Voice Actress:
Interviewer: What are your thoughts on all those pirate DLC sets?
KVA: I love them! Katarina is romanceable in all of them, I get to have her treat people in ways never seen before, and I get to play my favorite type of character: A pirate. She's good at it, too.
Interviewer: Any favorite additions to the cast?
KVA: Pretty much all of them to be honest.
Interviewr: All of them?
KVA: Yep, every foreign exchange student, every citizen, and especially every member of the crew.
Interviewer: If you had to choose, though?'
KVA: That's a tough one. *pauses in thought* I guess Anne takes the lead, with Martin Campbell, Maria's dad, taking a reasonably solid second place for nostalgia’s sake. Anne gives Katarina someone to bounce off when she's not talking to Maria. But yeah. Pirate Katarina remains my favorite setting, so I might be biased...

Lestat De Lioncourt x Louis De Pointe Du Lac
General Audiences, fluff.
Warnings: None. Lestat’s questionable parenting, toddler on toddler violence, Karen character.
Baby Claudia likes to bite people
SERIES MASTERLIST | MY MASTERLIST
Little Claudia had anger issues, there was no way around it. Lestat liked to joke she had inherited his temper, but truth be told, Louis did not find it funny. He did not find it funny when he got called from Claudia’s daycare because she had destroyed a toy in a fit of rage, he did not find it funny when the cat ran away scared because Claudia had screamed at him in reply to his hiss, and he did not find it funny when he had to rush her to the ER because she had banged the cupboard door with her tiny fists in frustration when it refused to open for her.
Lestat, of course, was of no use. He loved Claudia so much she was absolutely perfect in his eyes. His little princess could do no wrong, so why would he feel the need to correct her behavior?
“I just don’t see what the big deal is" He expressed, sprawled on the park bench as if he owned the place, while they watched with vigilant eyes as Claudia frolicked around the playground.
"Lestat, she bit Miss Lily!" Louis explained, clearly mortified, "Miss Bricks was aghast!"
"Who's Miss Bricks?"
"The daycare's director"
Lestat was trying, and failing, to suppress a smirk.
"The director of Claudia’s daycare is called Miss Bricks?"
"She also bit Armand"
That was too much for Lestat, who could not stop the giggles from rising up his throat, risking Louis' wrath.
But far from getting mad, he seemed to be fighting a smile of his own.
"Don't-... Don't laugh" He protested, the corners of his mouth curving up despite himself. Luckily, he was saved by Claudia’s disgruntled noises of discontent as she attempted unsuccessfully to climb up the slide the same way she had slid down, instead of using the ladder like she was supposed to.
Lestat finally let himself go, laughing loud and boisterous, with his heart full of mirth but also of happiness, as he watched his little family. His Claudia, his daughter , the little spitfire of a baby he loved more than life itself, huffing and puffing and stomping her wee little feet, looking mortally offended the slide refused to cooperate with her; and his husband, the most beautiful man to walk the earth, as he tried to reason with her, using words as "frictional force" and "momentum" that she had no hope to understand.
Baby Claudia, of course, remained unconvinced.
"The problem," Louis sighed, as Claudia let out a pterodactyl screech after once again slipping down the slide she was trying to climb, "is that you set goals for yourself that are unattainable by both man and baby"
Lestat was still giggling when Louis, defeated, came back to his side.
“I’m afraid she’s still a bit young for physics, mon amour”
Louis shrugged.
“She doesn’t like to be condescended at. Besides, she will understand one day. She’ll learn about physics and Sisyphus, look back at this moment, and start making a lot of connections…”
“Looks like that might not be the only connection she’ll be making” Lestat commented, nose scrunching in distaste as he watched a blonde little boy around Claudia’s age making his way to their daughter, probably wanting to see what the ruckus was all about.
The encounter, however, did not seem to be going well, as the kid raised his hand, reaching for one of Claudia’s piggy tails, and tugged hard.
Twin yells of “Hey!” resonated through the park as Louis and Lestat jumped to their feet to rush to their daughter’s defense, but were stopped by a blonde woman, clearly the aggressive child’s mom.
“Oh, don’t worry!” She chuckled, her high-pitched cackles nowhere nearly as cute as Lestat’s laugh to Louis’ ears, “It just means he likes her!”
Louis De Pointe Du Lac had never been a violent man. In fact, he proud himself on being a master of his instincts. There was nothing he hated more than those racist stereotypes that painted people of color as being hot-tempered and belligerent. But the moment he saw his baby girl’s eyes well up with tears, he knew he could have torn that chauvinistic nincompoop of a woman and her rude spawn to pieces. He was already advancing, on auto-pilot, his body moving forward before his mind could authorize the movement, when he felt Lestat’s grounding hand on his chest.
“Oh, look!” He commented, casually, his tone deceivingly sweet as Claudia threw herself at the boy, tackling him to the ground. “It seems our little Claudia likes him back!”
“Tommy!” Screamed the horrified woman, no longer cheerful, running to help his brat, whose cheek was currently between Claudia’s small but sharp teeth.
Neither he nor Lestat made a single move to help the blonde pair. And, honestly, Louis didn’t even think of reprimanding his husband as he took their daughter in his arms, praising her for “sticking up for herself” and “a job well done”. How could he, when Claudia was beaming, waving the handful of blonde curls she had plucked off her would-be harasser's head around triumphally for her papas to see?
Yeah, there would come a time, probably soon, when they’d have to address Claudia’s temper problem. But that day wasn’t it.

"Wish" rewrite: Setting the Scene (NOT the prologue)
Tumblr media
Welp, I'm finally doing a lengthier rewrite of "Wish." For those new to my account, I must stress that you do not--repeat: DO NOT--need to read my shorter two rewrites of the film as well as song rewrites in order to understand this story. (BTW, the above art is by Sanjaycreates on Twitter.) NOTE: THis is all subject to change before I get the prologue and stuff going!
The Setting
Tumblr media
The Kingdom of Nelke is a fantasy kingdom with German influences (but with racial demographics that you'd see in the Americas), but by no means should it be taken as something historically accurate, or even 100% culturally accurate. I kind of wanted something akin to "Baldur's Gate 3" where you see a mix of modern and historical garb--actually, it'd be pretty akin to many high fantasy RPGs, in my opinion, as well as the fashion for 2015's "Cinderella," if you will. I always loved the mix of modern and medieval aesthetics when used correctly. The royal family's crest is be a swan, in reference to "Swan Lake" and ruled by the favorable Queen Lina and overseen by her right-hand advisor, the sorcerer Eiko.
The Characters
(Note: I'm not an artist, so I'll simply use pics of characters who fit the overall vibe I'm going for, either in fashion, personality, or design.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Talia--For those who don't know, a variant of "Sleeping Beauty" sees the main character named Talia, which is fitting since "Wish" was visually inspired by it. She's a young woman in her early 20s, wears an orange dress, and while she is kind at heart, she is rather hot-headed, and not always in an endearing way. Right now I'm considering making her half-Egyptian, half-African in reference to the lead couple in Disney's play "Aida." She has been a sorcerer's apprentice ever since she discovered she had magical powers, but talent isn't everything. She's become a bit shy around crowds, concerned with bringing out their ire of making them overly dependent on her. She occasionally leads her friends--nicknamed "The Dreamers"--when making decisions. (Art by Jonuelsketch and Disney.)
Vocally, I imagine her to have a deep, theatrical voice, something booming and powerful. She loves to sing in order to de-stress, though this doesn't always become a song; sometimes she just sings a line or a few sentences to herself like a lot of people do at random moments in time. If I was an artist, one person who would inspire her design would be Janelle Monae.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aion--Taken from Aiionwatha, an alternate name for Hiawatha, a Native American figure who Disney made a short about and once tried to adapt into a feature film. He doesn't talk very often, and frequently tries to put on a brave face, despite his severe depression over losing one of his older brothers to magic when he was a child. He's the heart of the group, and often tries to diffuse conflict, as they stress him out. While he has great concern for Talia as a sorcerer's apprentice, he supports her, though Talia misunderstands his feelings and wants her to fail, since his own brother couldn't succeed at using magic. His main color is usually a flurry of colors, making him look like stained glass (which influences Talia's fashion at times).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lucy--A reference to the protagonist in Walt Disney Pictures' adaptation of "The Chronicles of Narnia" with Walden media. She's of Arab descent and dresses in purples to reference Princess Jasmine. A fast-thinker, she always tries to think up solutions quickly and ahead of time, making her Aion's best friend when it comes to crisis aversion. The daughter of a diplomat and a smooth talker, she has confidence to spare and while she can be self-centered at times, she's first and foremost a great friend. For health reasons, she is often accompanied by a (stylish) cane, sometimes a wheelchair if things are severe.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wolfgang--Not a Disney reference, but simply a German name. He has a lot going on with his life, largely due to being a political pawn all his life. While he has those he cares for, he isn't good at expressing it and consistently tries to control everything around him. It's been remarked that in another world, he and Talia could've been siblings, but not in this lifetime. He doesn't have many (real) friends, but his years of emotional abuse have led him to crave attention, even if it's not in the best possible way. Perhaps that's why he's often dressed in green; he has a bit of envy to spare.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Queen Lina-- A reference to "Thumbelina." The greatest person you will ever meet, or at least that's how the slogan goes. She's beautiful, intelligent, and often takes to disguises in order to check on her citizens. She's quite dramatic when you get to know her, but more in a theatrical way that pulls you in, not an annoying way. Her husband, bless his heart, likes to stay out of the limelight often, so he lets her be the face of the kingdom, and it suits her vanity just fine. Her clothing is colorful and ALWAYS memorable. Of course, she has an edge to her, something she doesn't want to let the citizens know about. As someone with a couple chips on her shoulder, Talia can relate--but are they in the same boat?
I imagine a soprano-type voice for her, but she has an affinity to rap when she's frustrated.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Princess Elsie--An occasionally clever, but altogether lazy princess. She enjoys her royal status and letting people fawn over her. Due to her commitment to being completely selfish, the people of Nelke assume this is an affront to a more caring future ruler (which Lina continually tries to support). When she's bored, she's been shown to be quite hilarious and astute, though you can be sure she won't let herself be bored for long. She's beautiful, but in a way slightly askew to mainstream society.
A good singer, albeit not the strongest; good enough for a movie, but not to sell albums.
Tumblr media
Eiko--The queen's right-hand man and flatteringly referred to as her fairy godfather. A man who's past is shrouded in mystery (ironically clad in purples and greens), he vowed his fealty to the queen when he found her to be a worthy ruler. As of late, however, he has been looking for an apprentice to take over his place. As magic by birth is extremely rare and magic by education is difficult without a trained tutor (which there are few of in the kingdom), he has had difficulty finding one--until he comes upon Talia. While she is highly skilled, she doesn't always think things through, making her a mixed public figure before she's even come to prominence. When he isn't conducting official business for the crown, he is quite relaxed--and an excellent singer.
He used to be a more powerful singer, but he prefers a much softer sound now due to age.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anselm--My Kingdom Hearts friends get this. The mysterious being in the west wing of the castle. It's said that his (their?) magic eclipses even Eiko's. But how Anselm came to be there--or what secrets lurk inside their mind--are anyone's guess. When Talia encounters him, they are a wise and mesmerizing figure, as she's able to see a sea of stars in his eyes. When he ventures beyond the wing and into the world below, he's shown to be playful and caring, always seeming to have one's best wishes at heart. Their magical form is a cascade of silvers, blues, and white, while as a human, they often wear "feminine" colors (bright/light colors, including pinks and purples) with flower motifs when in his human form, his favorite being a bleeding heart. His favorite room in the castle consists of a giant koi pond that frequently calms his soul. However, despite his outgoing nature, he can be quite shy when he develops a crush on someone, most recently Talia. Despite her attempts to look the other way, Talia reciprocates his feelings, and she finds that he may be hiding a mystery of his own, as she sees a sea of stars whenever she gazes into his eyes for a long time.
Probably the best singer, a tenor with heart and power.
Lemme know if you have any questions! IDK when I'll release the prologue, but it shouldn't be too long. Originally I was gonna include the storybook intro in this, but I've decided it's better to just put it in the prologue since I'm still figuring out my words. I may or may not write songs for this; I imagine it's a musical, but IDK if I'm gonna be happy with the songs I write.

a long-winded ramble no one asked for on karolina/shiv and motherhood
Okay, so I got a comment on the last chapter of this fic that included the question of whether Karolina would have kids in my version of their world, and I wanted to dig a little bit into it.
This is essentially a lot of psychoanalytical rambling about Karolina and Shiv and their relationship to motherhood/raising children.
In my view, both Karolina and Shiv grew up in a house with an angry man (“there will always be an angry man in your house”). We know what Logan was like and what Shiv’s childhood essentially looked like, we’ve seen it written all over the siblings’ faces throughout the show, and I think Karolina’s background was not that dissimilar.
Being a child of immigrants, I think Karolina was always reminded that her parents had given up everything, had fought to give their children a “better life”, and that she had a sort of sacred duty to uphold that sacrifice and ensure she “made something of herself”. Queue the repression, and later on the resentment once the successful life she’s built for herself still isn’t enough because now she’s compromised her values, and she’s failed to build a family of her own because of her dedication to her work.
Working for a company like Waystar, and spending her time protecting corrupt men and the systems they uphold, I’d imagine has also been a constant point of contention in her household, and the inevitable catalyst for every fight during holidays and family get-togethers.
Then, later on, came the fact that she’s prioritised that work over starting her own family.
Now, and this is mostly coming from personal experience so don’t take my word as gospel, in the minds of someone who grew up in a country under communist rule, family was holy. If you were over a certain age, and you didn’t have a family, a child, you were seen as a failure to your country. In fact (again, not sure this applied to every country under the iron curtain), childless women over the age of 20 (and men over 25) had to pay a “bachelor tax”. The government needed workers, and if you failed to provide them, you’d failed your country. Women who’d birthed over ten children were given medals and called Mother Heroines (btw that term is still used today, albeit it is no longer a formal honorary title).
Combine that deeply ingrained sense of duty, with the added pride of having fought for their children, I’d say there has to be a lot of pressure there for Karolina to have something to fight for, to have a family that she could dedicate all that work to. For a parent who’s lived under communism, wealth for wealth’s sake doesn’t mean all that much. People who grew up in that environment wouldn’t even know what to do if they had that sort of luxury (a sentence that gets repeated by a lot of people who grew up during those times is “Even if you had money, there was nothing to buy with it!”).
For Shiv, I think the same principle applies, although her cross to bear is the fact that Logan uses his children as an excuse. He tells them that everything he’s built has been for their sake, when really he just loves the fight. And Shiv’s smart, she sees through it, but she’s also a woman, and she knows the same rules could never apply to her. Not in Logan’s world, anyway.
He couldn’t fit a whole woman in his head.
In Logan’s world, and the world both Shiv and Karolina have moulded themselves to fit into, a woman is never allowed to be more than one thing at a time. They can be valuable assets to the firm, or daughters, or wives, but never all of those things at once. And motherhood is the last stop. It’s a canyon drop that takes a lot of fucking work to climb out of.
Now, I also think it’s important to take into consideration Shiv and Karolina’s respective career points.
Shiv’s is…a whole mess. She’s nowhere near where she thought she’d be, and she has a lot of figuring out to do in the wake of everything that’s happened. Essentially, she’s got a knife ready in her hand but can’t find a worthwhile fight to throw herself in. She’s basically just flinging the knife around, hoping it stabs something. She’s still trying to find a canyon to climb.
Karolina, on the other hand, has found her fight. I think Dag shared her view in an interview that, as of the pilot, Karolina’s position as head of PR had been pretty newly minted. The amount of time that’s passed from the pilot until the finale is pretty short. She’s just managed to crawl on top of that canyon, so I imagine she’d want to enjoy the view for a bit, before taking that nosedive. In my world, that’s also where her hesitation to be in a public relationship (especially with another woman!!) comes from.
The emotional front is another beast altogether. I think they’re both afraid of passing that anger and that resentment down (letting the poison drip through).
Despite the breadth of privilege they both have, they still have had to learn to more or less survive in these structures, so I think they’d be terrified of not being able to protect their child from having to do the same.
I also see Karolina as someone who needs to feel in control, and who has a very strict order to her life that a child would be very hard to fit into.
And personally, I’m not fond of narratives that use children as catalysts for change. And I don’t see that as a value that either of these women would feel very connected to, either. The “think of the baby” of it all. At the end of the day, they’re both very selfish women. You kind of have to be when you’ve chosen to work in the belly of the beast of corporate America.
Thus, and coming to end of this giant fucking ramble (i am so sorry the world wide web has to house all that), do I think Shiv and/or Karolina would absolutely never want children? No. I just think there needs to be a lot of self-work on both parts before that choice can be made consciously.
Do I think they would find a way to raise an emotionally healthy child? Yes, actually!
But I prefer to imagine a world for them in which that is a choice they make, and not a consequence they deal with.
