Gojo Satoru:
You loved it when Gojo came home after a long mission. He was usually feral, throwing open the door, all but tackling you as he went to unbutton your pants. When he came home like this, he needed to fuck in the nastiest of ways. Not that you’d complain you were usually as pent up as he was.
This time, well, Gojo was even more pent-up than usual. He caught you in the laundry room, bending you over the dryer. He slid your leggings and panties down before sliding his cock over your pussy, teasing your entrance, rubbing his tip against your clit.
All you needed was a few kisses on your neck his deep voice in your ear, and you were wet and ready for him. He fucked you fast, deep, and hard. It felt so good, his cock slamming into your g-spot, as the vibrations from the running dry stimulated your clit. This was new and exciting. To be wanted this bad, for him to fuck you right where he found you, you loved it!
Your boyfriend loved it just as much as you because his cock throbbed hard inside of you right when you were beginning the climb toward your release. You felt his cum spurting inside of you as he whined, his pace slowing down, slowly fucked his cum inside of you. Satoru groaned slowly, pulling out of you, spreading your cheeks, watching his cum leaking out of your pretty cunt.
“Fuuuck, I needed that.” You were panting, gripping the sides of the dryer, waiting for him to do something, anything to make you cum. “Mmm.” To your utter disappointment, Satoru smacked your ass and started walking out. “I'm going to shower; when I'm done, let's order dinner. I'm beat.”
For a moment, you thought he was fucking with you. That he just wanted you to complain about not cumming, to beg for it. But looking over your shoulder at him, you saw how tired he was. He had pulled his blindfold down, pooling around his neck, allowing you to see the dark circles under his eyes. The exhaustion on his face wasn't from sex. It was from the mission.
How could you bother him to help get you off? You were fully capable of taking care of yourself. You just grinned, pulling your leggings off and tossing them into the washer. “I like the sound of that. Go ahead and wash up; I need to finish this.” And yourself. “Then we’ll order food.” Without any questions, Gojo stripped out of his clothes, tossing it in with yours.
“Sounds like we got ourselves a stay-in date.” Your boyfriend's lips pressed firmly against your cheek. “I missed you.”
“I missed you too, Toru.”
The second you heard him head into the bathroom, shutting the door, you hurried. He took about a five to ten-minute shower. So that gave you more than enough time to cum. Opening the nightstand drawer, you pulled out your wand vibrator before lying in bed, your eyes darting toward the bathroom door.
Wasting no time, you pressed the wand over your clit, turning it on its highest setting. Your hips jerked forward as a whine passed through your lips. Fuck you were still worked up, pussy clenching, thinking about how Satoru fucked you just minutes before. That was the perfect thought to lose yourself in as your clit was twitching under the pleasant vibrations.
God, if he weren’t so tired, you would have begged him for more. You take you on the dryer, the floor, fuck even the wall. You missed him; god, you missed the soft tufts of his white hair, the smell of fresh sheets and musk. The need to have him bullying his cock inside of you was so strong it had you dipping your hands between your legs. Fingers pushing through your tight entrance, attempting to make you feel as good as Satoru did.
They were nothing compared to Satoru. His fingers reached places you never could. While it wasn’t what you wanted right now, that being your boyfriend's fat cock, it would suffice. You cried out softly as you curled your fingers up, just barely grazing your g-spot.
“Mmnh fuck, oooh fuck.” You could feel yourself climbing towards your orgasm. “T-Toru, yes, yes~.”
Just when you were about to cum, the door to the bathroom flung open. Satoru stood there, leaning against the door frame as you threw your vibrator to the side of the bed. What you failed to do was take your fingers out of your cunt just as fast.
“S-Satoru!”
He took in your form, shaking his head with a sigh. “Most people would wait for the shower to start running before they start masturbating, right after their boyfriend fucked them.” He strode forward, his throbbing dick standing at attention. “But my sweet, not so innocent girl. She starts fucking herself when I’m in the other room.” He walked around the bed, picking up your still buzzing vibrator. “Was one time not enough for you?” Gojo got on the bed, cerulean eyes burning with furious lust.
“I-I well,” words evaded you, “I uhm—“
“Tsk,” he crawled on top of you, pressing the vibrator against your clit. You arched your back off the bed, whimpering. “Such a little slut, trying to make yourself cum right after I fucked you. Well, go on, do it, little slut.”Satoru pressed the vibrator harder against your clit. “Cum again, then maybe I’ll make you cum a third, fourth, maybe even a fifth time. Seeing that you want to cum so bad after I just made you.”
You tried pulling away, but Satoru grabbed your hip with his free hand, holding you in place. “I-I didn’t!”
“Oh, don’t try to lie to me; I caught you red-handed.” The hand you had been fingering yourself with was snatched. “Look at that, still wet and slick with both our cum.” Your boyfriend took your cum slick fingers in his mouth, sucking on them while his eyes burned holes into your skin.
“Y-Your cum.” Satoru stopped sucking, glancing down at your flushed face. “I-I didn’t finish.”
From the expression on his face, your poor boyfriend went through the five stages of grief. Denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and finally acceptance. His mouth opened and shut like a fish before he pulled the vibrator away.
“You didn’t cum?!” You shook your head. “Why didn’t you say something?!” Being questioned like this, right after he caught you beating off, wasn’t the conversation you wanted to have. Groaning softly, you sat up, avoiding his gaze.
“You’re exhausted, and I didn’t want to bother you with something I can handle alone.”
“You seriously think me getting you off is a bother?” He touched your shoulders, shoving you back against the bed. “Sweetheart, I get off on making you cum.”
“T-Toru, I-I can do it. You should re-A-Ahh!” Satoru’s cock is pushing it’s way forcefully inside your cunt. “Oooh, of fuck!”
His lips slammed against yours as he pushed the vibrator back against your throbbing clit. “Baby~ you feel so good~ fuck, your pussy is so fuckin’ tight. Ah~! Ah~ fuck~ does that feel good baby?” Stars, you saw stars as he pulled out, stopping just before the tip slipped out before he slammed back into you harder.
“Oh, my fuck!!” You cried out as he repeated his pace, fucking you, pressing the vibrator firmly against you. “O-Oh god, feels s-so good when you slide inside!”
Satoru chuckled with a groan. “Oh, I know it does~” His hot breath fanned over your lips, “I felt that tight cunt clamp down each time I thrust.” You dug your nails into his shoulders.
God, the smell of him washes over you as he kisses and sucks on your neck. Teeth grazing the overly sensitive skin as you wrap your leg around him, pushing him deeper inside of your aching pussy. You were losing control over yourself, and Satoru wasn’t doing any better. His cock was already throbbing; his eyes screwed tight as he pushed himself further into the mattress, deeper inside of you.
Hearing you scream, feeling the vibrations while he fucked you, your soaking walls that were eagerly milking him, had him feeling like he was eighteen again. Satoru never got over how good your gummy walls felt. How you pussy didn’t want him to leave, how it tried to pull him back in. Having sex with you was something that constantly changed and grew into something more. Something more profound.
“Gah—! Fuck!” Satoru cried out against your kiss-swollen lips. “You’re so close, you’re twitching.” Your blubbering whines confirmed what he knew. “That’s right, cum for me~ cum all over this fat fucking cock.”
“C-cumming ah~ ah~ Satoru!!” With his hips angled, hitting your sweet spot with every brutal thrust, you clamped down on him. But it was the sweet buzzing of your vibrator in time with his harsh pace that had you gushing.
Satoru watched the stream of clear liquid squirt out of you. Coating the v-line and happy tail of his crotch, soaking the bed underneath you. Who wouldn’t have been cumming with you after that sight? Satoru stilled, hands digging harshly into your hips, holding you still as his cum filled you. He stayed like that for a long moment. Buried deep inside of you before he collapsed, groaning against your collarbone.
You gently scratched his scalp with your nails, breathing heavily as you came down from your high. “Fuck, I needed that so bad, thank you.” You watched as Satoru lazily lifted his head, hazy eyes watching you.
“Mm, anythin’ for you.”
The two of you drifted to sleep like that. Any thoughts revolving around showering or dinner were placed on the back burner. The most important thing was that you were finally together again.
Geto Suguru:
“Ah~ nngh, good~ feels good~” You cried out softly as Suguru lazily fucked you. “K-Keep going~”
The bed gently groaned under Suguru’s sleepy thrusts. His arms were wrapped around you, large hands grabbing your breasts. They massaged the soft flesh, groping them, teasing your nipples as he licked and kissed the side of your neck. Mornings where he woke up after having the nastiest dream sex with you, were his favorite kind of sexy mornings.
The morning when you both were stirring, only focusing on the raw instinctual need to cum. These were the times when he didn’t need to focus on the pace or the dirty words he would whisper in your ear. All the two of you could focus on was the sweet pleasure and warmth of each other's bodies.
Suguru cried out against your skin, his cock throbbing deep inside of you. The things you were doing to him in his dream, sucking his cock, riding his face, letting him fuck you on a towel on a faraway beach, it was so good. Too good. When he first slid inside of you, he was dangerously close to the edge. His sexy dream had nearly become a wet dream before he woke up. So it came as no surprise to him that he just needed to feel you, the real you, to reach that sweet climax.
You listened as he huffed and grunted, his hips moving just a bit faster as you felt the warmth of his cum filling you. His load was thick, seeping out of you, sliding down the length of his cock, pooling at the base. Feeling him fill you up this good at six thirty in the morning was the equivalent of a hot shower or a good workout at the gym. You were ready for round two.
Suguru, however, was ready to drift back to sleep. His breathing went from shallow, uneven gasps to deeper and calmer breaths. This wasn’t happening, right? There was no way your husband just lazily fucked you as a form of foreplay just to fall asleep. Your worst fears became a reality as he snored softly into the crook of your neck.
Your pussy clenched in sorrow as his cock remained buried inside of you. If he were anyone else, you would have woken him up, urging him to finish what he had started. Unfortunately for you, Geto Suguru was a deep sleeper. The only thing that would wake him up was either a blood-curdling scream from you or an earthquake. Meaning you were on your own for now. Horny, sleepy, and desperate to cum, and drifted back to sleep in his strong arms.
Luckily, your vibrator was just an arm's length away, resting in the top drawer of your nightstand. With careful and calculated movements, you freed one arm from Suguru’s koala bear grasp and grabbed your best friend. Your clit sucking toy was your favorite toy Suguru bought for you. He knew how much you loved him going down on you, so he bought you the highest-rated toy that would at least come close to mimicking his talented lips and tongue.
The toy was great; you loved using it when your fiance was at work or on a mission. Nothing would ever be able to replace him. Right now, seeing as your husband was out of commission, this toy would have to suffice.
You slid the toy under your shorts, pressing the small opening around your clit before turning it on to the lowest setting. The pulsating hum was low but perfect enough that it had you whining. You were still incredibly turned on from your lazy sex session. Having been so close to release, you knew this setting (or two or three higher) would be all that you needed to cum, seeing as Suguru’s cock was still buried inside of you, his thick load keeping you wet enough.
Your hips jerked, walls clenching around Suguru as your hand came up, clamping firmly over your mouth with a groan. Your pussy twitched As your toes curled; it felt so good. The flutter sensation beginning to build up in your lower stomach had your blood running hot. What would make this even better was if Suguru was up, fucking you with hard and shallow thrusts. Hitting your g-spot, whispering in your ear, telling you to cum on him.
The temptation to push yourself back against him was strong. His thick, girthy cock, was perfect in every way, shape and form. The tip was pressed right against your sweet spot, making you moan louder into your hand. You didn’t want to wake him up; he always worked hard, taking good care of you—the moments when he. Getting to unwind and relax was precious to both of you.
While you were being courteous regarding the volume of your moans. Your pussy was not as well-behaved as the rest of you. She clamped, twitched, and hugged Suguru’s cock. The warm pulsing twitches had Suguru stirring, his eyes slowly opening as his cock jerked inside of you, as he felt the low buzzing sensation of the toy you were using against yourself.
His hand slowly slid over your conjoined bodies, his larger hand wrapping around yours, pressing the toy harder against your throbbing clit. “A-Ah, Sugu~” He hummed, kissing and sucking on your neck. “I-I’m sorry. I d-didn’t mean to wake you.” In reality, you weren’t as sorry as you claimed to be.
”Mmm,” Suguru exhaled heavily through his nose, “didn't get enough?”
You shook your head, your hips full back into him, pushing his cock further inside of you. “No, baby, I didn’t cum.” Suguru’s eyebrows furrowed together as you humped his cock gently. “Just give me a few minutes, please; I’m almost there.” Your husband groaned, lifting your leg and draping it over his hip. “Sugu, what—nngh, fuck. Your toy was tossed to the side, Suguru’s fingers replacing it.
”My princess just told me she didn’t cum.” His voice cracked as he rocked gently into you, his fingers rubbing circles around your clit. “What sort of husband would I be if I made her get off alone.” Teeth dug into your neck before his tongue slid over the stinging mark. “Let me give you a hand.”
Your eyes were rolling into the back of your head as Suguru hit your cervix with every thrust. He was so fucking deep; you could feel every thick inch of him spreading you open. His dark eyes peered down, watching his hand working at your clit. He could hear how wet you were, the squelching sounds egging him on.
“Ah~ fuck Sugu~ you know me so well.” you tilt your head back, eyes shutting, losing yourself in the please. “Y-You always hit my g-spot, fuck!”
Your husband cooed, rubbing your clit faster. “Yeah~ you’re going to cum aren’t you~? You keep getting wetter with every thrust, baby.”
“Y-Yeah, fuck yes! Please~ please, Sugu~!”
The rich smell of Suguru’s expensive shampoo wafted over you; his hair fell over your shoulder as he pressed his lips against yours. You reached a hand up, cupping his cheek, moaning as he nipped at your bottom lip, his tongue darting out, tracing over the spot before sliding his tongue into your mouth as he fucked into you like you were the only thing that mattered in the world.
You didn't even have a chance to warn him that you were cumming. You just cried out into his mouth as he massaged your tongue with his own. As the rolling waves of pleasure rocked through you, Suguru’s pace faltered, becoming messy sloppily as his ball tightened. Spurts of warm cum filled your aching hole, filling you up to the brim.
“Mmm,” Suguru pulled his mouth away from yours, spit connecting your tongues, “does my needy girl feel better~?”
“Mhmm~” you hummed happily, snuggling back against him. “Felt good.”
All your husband did was wrap his arms tighter around you. He pressed a kiss against your chin before he buried his face in the crook of his neck. Out of all the places he’d seen and been, your king-sized bed, with you in his arms, was his favorite place in the world.
Nanami Kento:
Wet was a bit of an understatement. You were soaking wet when Nanami slammed you up against the door of your apartment. You both were buzzed from the bottle of wine you shared at dinner. The sweet liquid had you rubbing Nanami’s thigh, whispering obscene things in his ear, and had led to him pulling your lace panties to the side as he lifted you, your legs wrapped around his waist.
“You've been such a bad girl.” You groaned over, panting in pure lustful desire as you listened to his buckle being undone.
“Hurry up.” You begged, only to receive a smack on the side of your ass. “Eep!”
“You are in no place to be making any demands.” His words were slightly slurred before he rubbed the tip of his cock against your clit. “Teasing my cock, whispering those lewd words in my ear.”
The wine had given you liquid courage; you grabbed a handful of blonde hair, tugging it back. “Then take what you want~” The moment those words left your mouth, Nanami was fucking into you.
His thrusts were sloppy, messy, and full of pure need. The wine had him lost in the raw feeling of your tight cunt, the way your walls hugged his cock. Your pussy was so wet, warm, and tight. Nanami whimpered fucking you harder and slamming you against the door.
“Y-Yes! Oh fuck yes! Keeento~!!”
“Oh fuck love, fuck you’re s-so t-tig-gaaahk!”
The familiar sensation of cum filling you drew you out of the wildly erotic moment. Both you and Nanami were stiff. Your sweet, loving boyfriend's face flushed dark red, his eyebrows pinched in tipsy confusion.
“K-Ken? Did you just?”
“I-I—“ he honestly wasn’t sure, but he confirmed his fears as he pulled out. His cock was coated in white cum, the tip dribbling out more as it sadly softened. “F-Fuck, sweetie, I’m sorry.”
When he looked up expecting to be met with an expression of disappointment, he was instead met with your gentle smile as he put you down. “It’s okay; I was teasing you the whole way home.” While you attempted to comfort him, Nanami still felt a twinge of shame.
“I’m sorry.”
“Ken, you’re fine.” Fine was not the way he would describe the way he felt. But you were persistent. “Do you wanna lay down?”
Your boyfriend nodded, sulking towards your room with his head hanging low. “If laying down means I can forget about this whole ordeal, then yes.” He unbuttoned his shirt before lying on his back, watching you closely. “That’s never happened to me before.” A smirk tugged at the corner of your mouth as you removed your jewelry.
”I made the Kento Nanami experience pre-mature ejaculation for the first time. I’m so honored.”
“Please don’t say it like that.”
“Right, sorry, sorry.” Nanami watched as your hips swayed as you approached his side of the bed.
“Seriously, don’t feel too bad about it. I could easily take care of myself if I wanted to. Do you need anything? Like water?” He shook his head, his eyes slowly shutting as he drifted in and out of the waves of his afterglow. “Alright, I’ll be right back.”
Just as Nanami turned to lay on his side, you reached into the sock drawer of your dresser. Hidden, there was your g-spot toy. You glanced back at the sleepy Nanami before sighing as you tip-toed into the living room, cracking the door shut.
You were still worked up, wet, and horny from the combination of wine and teasing touches on the way home. You didn’t mind that Nanami had finished first, but you couldn’t ignore the aching between your legs. You needed to take care of that ache, or you wouldn’t be able to sleep at all.
As you lay on the couch, your mind drifted to Nanami. How his large hands gripped your thigh in the car, how his ankle brushed yours at the restaurant. You whined, imagining his cock slipping inside of you as you pushed the toy into your wet pussy. His cock was so girthy and fat it stuffed you; this toy was nothing compared to him. But it would get the job done.
You twisted the end of the toy, turning the vibrations on; the sweet lazing immediately stimulated your sweet spot, making you arch. Fuck it felt good, especially when you began thrusting it in and out of your tight heat. You were so tight and needy, longing for an orgasm that would tide you over until Nanami was able to fuck the life out of you.
God, you wanted him; you wanted him so bad. The need for his cock to plunge in and out of you. To have him tugging and pulling on your hair, to choke you. The raw desire for him had your moans increasing in volume. Maybe it was the wine or the horny need that had you gasping as if your boyfriend wasn’t in the other room.
Oh, and Nanami heard. How could he not listen to you whimpering and crying out his name? The buzzing from your toy had his cock throbbing back to life. He couldn’t just let you handle this on your own. His legs, while still shaky, moved with a purpose. He flung open the bedroom door and stormed off to the living room, where the sight of you had his pace faltering.
Your legs were spread, the vibrant pink vibrator was moving in and out of you, coated in a milk substance of his cum and your slick. The same sticky substance coated the inside of your supple thighs, making you look even more erotic. Seeing you in such a vulgar scene had Nanami stripping out of his clothes.
“Fuuuck~ fuck yes~ K-Kento~!” Your head was tilted back, eyes shut as you imagined Nanami inside you. His lips and teeth dug into your skin. “Ahh fuck~!”
“You weren’t kidding when you said you could care for yourself.” The deep voice of your boyfriend was the only warning you got before the toy was yanked out of you and clattered to the floor.
Your eyes went wide as the toy was replaced with the fat girthy cock you had been imagining. “Haaah!” A breathless yelp escaped you as you met Nanami’s honey-brown eyes. “K-Kento!” He groaned, his cock slowly slipping in and out of you. “Fuck~!” He smirked, kissing your neck.
“Mhmm lover, your pussy is hugging me. Were you that desperate for my cock?” All you managed to do was cry out as you nodded. “Such a desperate girl~ but that toy is nothing compared to me, right?”
“N-No, it’s not!” You whined, gripping his shoulders as the couch creaked under his thrusts. “N-Nothing c-compared to you, Kento!”
Skin slapped against the skin, Nanami groaned, dropping his head onto your shoulder. “Fuck~ fuck, your pussy feels so good~ it’s so wet, love, so fucking wet~” Nanami kissed and sucked onto your shoulder, biting the skin as hard as he could, drawing out a pleasurable gasp from you. “G-gonna make you cum this time.” His words were mumbled as he bit into another part of your skin. “M-make up for last time.” your toes began to curl as Nanami reached down, rubbing your clit in fast circles.
“Y-You don’t have to make up for last time—“ Nanami’s cock throbbed, rubbing against your g-spot. That, in time, with his thumb on your clit had the coil tightening in your abdomen. “I-I’m close, oh god, I’m close!” Your legs began violently shaking as your pussy tightened, heat rushing through you. “K-Kento! Keeento!!”
You came hard, so incredibly hard a scream ripped through your throat as tears filled your eyes. Nanami’s cock twitched, his hips stilling as your pussy convulsed around him, drawing out a second orgasm from him as you rode the waves of yours. His hips jerked, pussy hi load intense of you, working the both of you down from your highs. It was until beads of sweat ran down his chilled ab’s that he finally came to a stop.
His breath was hot against your shoulder as you ran your fingers through his hair. He slowly pulled away, smiling ever so sweetly at you. “Fuck I needed that.” The sheer relief and exhaustion in your tone had Kento grinning, lifting you, and carrying you to the bedroom.
“Well, I hope you’re ready for more. Because I’m ready for round three.”
Toji Fushiguro:
You were minding your own business scrolling through your phone when your boyfriend came into the room. He said nothing; he only grabbed your pajama pants and yank them off. You giggled in between moans as rubbed your clit before sliding his spit-coated cock inside of you.
“Ah, ~ rough day at w-work?” You gasped out, throwing your head back against the pillows as Toji grunted in response. “Oh, I’m sorry, baby.” The words held all the truth; you did feel bad that he had a rough day. You also loved it, though. Days like these, when he came home all pent up and frustrated, were the days he fucked the breath out of you.
He got to work off pent-up frustration while you got to get fucked into the mattress. It was truly a win-win for the two of you.
”Fuck, fuck yeah,”. Toji sighed, kissing the leg that was draped over your shoulder. “I missed your fucking pussy all day.” His thick, strong fingers dug into your other leg that was wrapped over his hip. “Kept dreaming about filling it up, painting the insides white. Nnngh, you’re such a fucking good little slut for me.”
You hummed drunkenly in response, back arching as you tried to keep up with his fast-paced thrusts. “Mhmm, I’m glad I could be a good dream for you, Toji.” Cock throbbing inside of you, Toji let out a needy growl, bucking his hips faster, cock hitting every sweet spot buried deep inside of your cunt.
“Y-Yeah, you’re the best dream a guy could ever have.” Those sweet words had you reaching your hand down, rubbing your clit as he fucked you deeper, faster. “That’s it, look at my slutty little girlfriend. Making herself cum all over my cock.”
“C-Close, Toji! P-Please!”
“M-Me too~! Me too~!”
Toji sunk his teeth into the side of your leg as his thrusts lost all sense of rhythm as he began cumming inside of you, fucking himself through his orgasm. All while you tried to follow up, rubbing your clit faster, bucking your hips up against him. But as the sensations of hot cum filled you, your stomach was filled with disappointment as your orgasm evaded you. Toji grunted, resting his head against you, his eyes shut tight as he felt your walls twitch.
You reached up, stroking his head, humming as he slowly sat up. He liked fucked out of his mind as he licked at his lips. But behind that fucked out look, you could swear there was desire. A desire for more, to keep going until the two of you couldn’t breathe. A desire that you might just be able to reach that orgasm you had failed to grasp moments before.
Toji leaned down, kissing you deeply, his cock twitching deep inside of you. You were just about to wrap your legs around his hips, to pull him in deeper, to encourage him to keep fucking into you, when his phone rang. He glowered at it, sitting on the nightstand. You turned his head to focus on you instead, your hands trailing up his chest, your thumbs brushing over his nipples. But his damn phone kept ringing. Whoever was calling was desperate to get a hold of him.
Toji snarled, snatching the phone off the nightstand and answering it. “I’m in the middle of something pretty fuckin’ important. What?!” The other voice on the line sounded much like Shiu’s shot back a shout. Toji’s eyes went wide, taking in the words before he smirked. You knew that expression.
“Paid up already? Ha, awesome, cool, yeah, I’ll meet you downstairs.”
“What was that about?” You asked as Toji slipped out of you. “What happened?”
Toji slipped his half-hard cock back into his pants. “Client already has money for a job I just did. Six figures, baby. They want to take me and Shiu to dinner.” Wait? Seriously, he was leaving?!
“B-But!”
“It should be fast. I’ll be back before you know it.” Toji pressed a kiss to your temple. “Then we’ll have round two.”
“But—“ You watched in despair and anger as Toji headed out of the apartment, shutting the door. “I didn’t finish.” You pouted, plopping back down on the bed.
Toji must have been out of it to have not realized that. Plus, he just left! But he was bringing home the big bucks so you couldn’t complain. There was always tonight; maybe he’d let you sit on his face as an apology once you told him. The aching pulse between your legs, however, wanted to be satisfied now. It couldn't wait for god knows how long Toji would be out.
So, without any hesitation, you reached under your bed, pulling out your container of sex toys. You pulled out your vibrating dildo and a bottle of lube before sitting up at the head of the bed. Wasting no time, you lubbed the clean toy before slowly working it into yourself with a harp inhale. It felt good, not as good as Toji, but it would get the job done.
Your pace was fast and hard; you attempted to match Toji’s. But that was humanly impossible. The man fucked like a god, nearly sending you to the afterlife with each orgasm. So you managed to do the best you could, which didn’t feel bad at all. Your pace had your eyes rolling back as you curved the toy, rubbing it against your g-spot before you turned it on.
The vibrations were strong. So strong it sent you to your own personal heaven of pleasure. You propped your legs up, spreading them wide as your thrusts increased in speed, while your free hand gripped the sheets, tugging at them gently. The pleasure was so overwhelming, so stifling, that you never heard the apartment door open. You were a moaning mess, and that’s what Toji heard as he looked around for his phone.
He’d stopped, eyes drifting towards the room as the wet squelching and buzzing sounds flooded the apartment. Following the noise, he peeked into the bedroom, finding you fucking yourself with a dildo. Your pussy was hugging it just like it had done to his dick. And you looked like you were enjoying it, but not as much as you wanted his dick.
Toji entered the room, taking full advantage of you and rolling your eyes back. He hummed, crossing his arms over his chest as he got a heater view of you pathetically trying to fuck yourself, into an orgasm. His poor, sweet girl. It would just be cruel to continue to watch.
Your eyes jolted open as a large hand swatted yours away, gripping the toy that was buried in your cunt, while the other hand pushed your legs
Further apart. “T-Toji!” You yelled out as he began fucking the toy into you with a sadistic smirk.
“Looks like you needed a hand.” His deep voice had you clenching around the toy with a whine of our need. “Me makin’ ya’ cum once wasn’t enough, huh? I was gone for five minutes. Missed me that much.” He jabbed the toy against your spot with ever-calculated thrusts.
“Oooh! Oooh fuck oh my goo-ah ah!” You screamed, your hand gripping the sheets tightened while the other tangled in black strands of hair. “Ah~! Agggh! I -I didn’t cum! I-I couldn’t w-wai-fuck! Wait for tonight!”
Toji’s pace didn’t falter, but his eyes widened for a second. “Well, ya’ should’ve said something, honey. I would have made you cum.” He learned over your leg. “I can’t fuck you, but I’ll at least make you cum for now.” He kept fucking the dildo inside of you as he knelt over you, flicking his tongue over your clit.
“Gahhhk!” You screamed as Toji chuckled over your clit with a hum. “T-Toji! T-Toji!!” You arched your back as your mouth fell open into an ‘O’ shape as your toys curled. “D-Don’t stop! P-please, don’t stop!”
Toji was nowhere close to stopping, not when you were so close. He healed his scarred lip over your throbbing clit, sucking, flicking, and nibbling at the sensitive bundle of nerves. He drew you closer and closer to the edge, and it was him rubbing your g-apt with the vibrating tip that was your undoing. You screamed out loud, bucking your hips into his face as you squirted a clear stream of liquid all over his chin.
You were crying at the intensity of the orgasm as Toji gently worked you down. He glanced over you as his tongue dared over his lips, licking your juices off with a smirk. Your body trembled and shook how you gasped madly for air. It was a sight he loved to see.
“There ya’ go.” He said, pulling the toy out and placing it on the nightstand. “I’ll be home in a little bit.” You grumbled in response, struggling to keep your eyes open as Toji pulled a blanket over your half-naked body. “Get some sleep.” He kissed your forehead, grabbing his phone off the bed. “Because you’re gonna need all the rest you can get for what I have planned for you tonight.”
Choso Kamo:
Two weeks you had been on a mission for two long weeks. Which meant you had been away from your sweet loving boyfriend and his long cock for two weeks. So, of course, the second you got home, you begged for him to fuck you. He eagerly agreed, fucking you on the floor of the entryway. The two of you hadn’t even passed there before you were ripping each other's clothes off.
“A-Ah! C-Choso!” You cried out as he slammed his fist on the wooden floor, fucking you deeper. “Ahh!” His brutal thrusts drew out a scream from you as his other hand palmed your breasts.
“Missed you, god I missed you so much.” He mumbled over your collarbone, sucking and licking your skin. “I missed you so much, babe.”
“C-Cho!”
He gritted his teeth as you clenched down on him. “Oh~ good god, I-I edged myself a-all week waiting for this.”
Hearing him say that had your stomach and pussy fluttering. It had just been a suggestion in passing. You mentioned to Choso that edging yourselves when you were separated would be fun. You, of course, had done it, working yourself to the edge before stopping your movements. You had no idea Choso would be doing the same thing.
It made your heart soar as you wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him closer to you. God, what did you do to deserve such a sweet and sexy man in your life?! Your walls fluttered around him, and Choso shut his eyes tight at the overwhelming pleasure.
Something you failed to mention to him was that edging would make him overly sensitive. More so than usual. His nails dug into the wood, scrapping at it as you whined and whimpered into the crook of his neck. Everything was too much to handle, too much to bear. Feeling your skin against his, hearing your cries of pleasure, your scent, all of it was way too much. He had been doomed from the moment you kissed him when you got home.
Choso pulled back just enough that he was able to put into your neck as his cock throbbed, cum spilling inside of you. His sudden bite as his cum filling you had you clenching against him, so hard Choso thought you had come with him. A satisfied groan sounded from your neck as he gently bucked into you, riding out your (his orgasm).
You both lay there on the floor of the entryway, panting heavily. Choso’s teeth left your skin, and he kissed it gently before looking into your eyes. You were smiling, gently reaching out, pushing his bangs out of his face as he slowly pulled out of you. He cleared his throat, and he helped you stand, sighing as the dropping adrenaline had him feeling drowsy.
“I-I didn’t think I’d cum that fast.” He said in a timid tone as you giggled. “B-But you were right. It did feel good, like a hundred orgasms in one.”
“Yeah, I’m glad you enjoyed it.”
Choso nodded sleepily as he wrapped his arms around you. “Welcome home, baby.” You could feel his muscles relax as he held you in his arms. He sounded like he was exhausted from the sound of his voice.
“Glad to be back.” You whispered as the two of you headed into the bedroom. Choso collapsed onto the mattress, holding his arms out for you to join him, but you shook your head, holding up your duffle bag. “I need to unpack and shower real quick. I’ll join you in a bit.”
Choso gave you a sleepy nod before shutting his eyes. You returned his smile, heading into the bathroom and closing the door with a heavy sigh. You were still on the edge, not having reached that sweet, blissful release you’d been working yourself up to for the last couple of weeks. There was always tomorrow. Once you both slept well, you held out for two weeks; what would another eight hours do?
As you started the shower and began unpacking your toiletry bag, your thoughts were blank for the most part. Your brain was moving on autopilot mode. Put away your travel-sized bottles, your hair brush, and skincare products. It wasn’t until you reached the bottom of the bag that you snapped out of the trance you had found yourself in. At the bottom was your bullet vibrator, sealed in its velvet travel bag with the toy cleaner.
You pulled out the clean toy, eyeing it in your palm before your eyes darted towards the door. One orgasm wouldn’t hurt, would it? Choso was so tired he might be sleeping. You stared at your reflection before finally carving in. If you were quiet enough, Choso never needed to know that you hadn’t finished, then tomorrow it would be like nothing happened.
You wasted no time sliding the vibrator down between your legs. You turned it on low speed with the little remote. It buzzed to life, bouncing off the walls as you whimpered softly. The vibrations were so good and vital that you knew it wasn’t going to take very long for you to cum. You chewed on your bottom lip, losing yourself in the pleasurable sensations, unaware that Choso was standing just outside the door, staring at it in confusion.
Your sweet boyfriend fully intended to nap while waiting for you to unpack. But the moment he heard the shower start and your lovely, soft humming, he stood up. Why would he stay in bed when he would be showering with you? Feeling your smooth, silky skin under his hands as he lathered you with soap and massaged tension out of your muscles.
Naps could wait; shower sessions were more important than sleep.
So, of course, as he stood in front of the bathroom door naked, listening to the buzzy hum of a sex toy, he was confused. Like why would you be using a toy right after the two of you just made love? And why would you be doing it without him helping you out? He loved making you cum, whether it be from his tongue, finger, dick, or the use of your toys.
Choso didn’t even bother knocking on the door; he just pushed it open, finding you hunched over the counter, hand between your legs, as the silver bullet toy buzzed over your clit. Your eyes went wide, but you didn’t move your hand away from your wet sex. You couldn’t not when you were so close. Choso just walked into the bathroom, stepping to stand behind you, rubbing his throbbing cock over your entrance.
“C-Choso~”
“I can help you, ya’ know.” He said softly before gently pushing inside of you. “All you needed to do was ask.” You whimpered as his thick cck stretched you open, your knees buckling. “I wouldn’t have minded going another round.”
His hand joined yours holding the vibrating toy harder over your clit. “I-I ah! Fuck I know, I’m sorry! Y-You came, and I didn’t; you just looked so tired I didn’t want to ask you to overexert yourself.” Choso’s eyes met yours in the mirror as he began fucking into you with a groan.
“I’m never tired when it comes to you. I’m always willing to keep going until you are fully satisfied.” His cock slid in and out of you faster as his free hand grabbed a handful of your ass, squeezing it.
”I-I fuck s-so-fuckin’ good Choso!” You gasped out a shaky cry of pleasure. “Feels so good, please baby more.”
“Yeah, I feel you clenching.” His hips were grinding into you, rubbing your g-spot as he helped you rub the buzzing bullet up and down over your clit. “Are you going to cum for me? Going to squirt?”
“Y-Yes Choso! Yes, I’m so close!”
He let go of the toy at your warning. Both his hands gripped your hips, using them as leverage to pound into you at full force. He was hitting every spot you loved while your bullet buzzed. The combination of all these factors had you cumming for the first time in two weeks. You came, squirting all over the tiled floor, making your feet slip as you tried to keep a grip on the sink. Your pussy clenched so hard around Choso that he stilled inside of you, cumming even harder than he had in the entryway.
You were so grateful that Choso was holding you up by your hips. If he hadn’t been, you were positive you would have ended up on the ground, a heaping puddle of useless limbs. Choso, who you had thought was tired before, was the first to move. He kissed down your back, gently massaging your hips as you slowly came back to your senses.
“Mm, come on, babe.” He whispered against your skin, slowly helping you shuffle towards the shower. “Let’s get you cleaned up. Then we can take a nap.” As you stood under the running water with Choso massaging your shoulders, you couldn’t help but shut your eyes as he kissed your temple.
It was good to be home.

2023 Fall Anime
This is honestly a loaded season full of new shows based on relatively new manga. Lots to look forward to
Tumblr media
Spy x Family - Season 2 One of the most fun SJ series that have come out in a while. Season 1 was killer, high hopes for season 2.
Tumblr media
Goblin Slayer 2 I didn't realize they were even making a second season. This was such a killer series. I'm really hoping they don't fall into the many mid-tier fantasy tropes out there in anime right now. I thought the appeal of the show was really Goblin Slayer himself and less about the lackeys along the way. So we'll see how it goes.
Tumblr media
Frieren: Beyond Journey's End This is definitely one of my highly anticipated series. It's about an elf who was part of the Hero's party and her life after he dies. (Since elves live longer) Definitely a darker take on fantasy but has some really solid fantasy and adventure vibes.
Tumblr media
Rising of the Shield Hero - Season 3 Season 2 was pretty disappointing and slow. While this looks like it'll be more fast paced, it does look like a tournament arc of sorts. I know some aren't a fan of that kind of arc, but honestly I think it's exactly what this series needs to pick things up again. We'll see.
Tumblr media
The Faraway Paladin - Season 2 This was legitimately one of my favourite fantasy series. I thought it was really well written and didn't rush things like other series. I'm looking forward to this season.
Sequels/Continuations: Eminence in Shadow - Season 2 killer series with an anti-hero main character. Definitely worth checking out. After-School Hanako-Kun Hanako-kun spin off Dr. Stone Season 3 - Part 2 One of the best novel concept series with nothing else in it's genre to compare to. Definitely didn't drop the ball on the recent seasons and still worth watching. Dead Mount Death Play - Part 2 One that I didn't particularly enjoy, but has a decent sized manga following. Tokyo Revengers - Tenjiku Arc The continuation of the series. Might be just me but it feels like the series fell off after the first season. The Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent - Season 2 A more mature take on fantasy isekai that just started to get into romance at the end of last season. A solid combo of shoujo genres. The Ancient Magus' Bride - Season 2 Part 2 One that I haven't had a change to check out yet but have only heard good things about. Hypnosismic - Season 2 a weirdly addictive musical/rap series. Unique characters and honestly solid rap battles. One I'll be enjoying. -- Related - Paradox Live - Music battle with what looks to be the same style of animation and solid character design. Definitely worth looking at if you're a fan of Hypmic. The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse A sequel of SDS. Looks like it could be a fun watch for the fans of the series. New:
Tumblr media
Shangri La Frontier A new manga fantasy series. This may be a horrible way to describe but it is what it is - a new age SAO- full dive fantasy game. A gamer who only plays shit games, gets into a new massively popular MMORPG and is op. One that I'm excited for because it ticks all the fantasy game boxes I like.
Tumblr media
Undead Unluck A relatively new manga series that gained a lot of traction in the last year or two. A gory action comedy that's super chaotic and a lot of fun.
Tumblr media
Shy Brand new hero manga series about a shy girl and her anxieties and struggles going into the hero world who grows and gains confidence as she becomes a better hero.
Tumblr media
Ron Kamonohashi's Forbidden Deductions This is a manga series that I have kept forgetting the name of so never got a chance to read but all the covers for the manga look phenomenal. Likely the anime doesn't do him justice but it is what it is. Essentially sherlock in anime form. A PI with issues and the wholesome police detective work together to solve crime. Other New Series: Green - Fantasy Pink - Romance Red - Action Purple - Drama The Kingdoms of Ruins A world where witches were hunted down by humans as science surpassed magic. A kid who was raised by a witch swears revenge on mankind. This honestly looks solid. The animations are very cool looking and the mc seems to be an anti-hero. Will be looking at this one. Under Ninja A well known manga series about modern ninjas. Definitely a unique series for this season. The Apothecary Diaries A historical medical mystery show. I've heard the name before and I've also only heard good things. Will be worth a watch. A Girl & Her Guard Dog The granddaughter of a crime syndicate goes to highschool out of town and the current young boss lies his way into the same school. Would be cute romance if it weren't for the fact she's 15 and he's 26.. Butareba - The Story of a Man Turned into a Pig What the title says. A girl finds him and the story goes from there. I'm Giving the Disgraced Noble Lady I Rescued a Crash Course in Naughtiness The usual light novel title. Honestly, doesn't seem as yikes as I initially thought, might just be harmless breaking the rules kinda thing. Could be fun, also a Capybara that strikes fear into people's hearts. My Daughter Left the Nest and Returned an S-Rank Adventurer Looks like a wholesome series where an adventurer finds a baby, raises it and she becomes so strong she's busy working all the time. Just a cute father daughter relationship in a fantasy setting about her wanting to come take time to see him but being caught up in OP fantasy battles. Ragna Crimson Dragons vs Humanity - a human and a dragon team up to destroy all the dragons. Action fantasy series. Berserk of Gluttony I honestly added this because I thought it was hilarious. Looks like a combo of knock offs - the Gluttony skill from Tensura (reincarnated as a slime) and the mc being called Fate with the main girl who looks exactly like Sabre. I'll be skipping but its' here so you know.

So I’ve finally got some of my thoughts on the new season in order and letting my self sit on it for a while
Dragons rising season 2 spoilers!!!!!
So first off holy shit this season has managed to completely wipe out any fears I had for season two. I’m a generally anxious person and am pretty naturally pessimistic about most things and was pretty anxious about season 2 because from the stuff shown in trailers and promotional vids it looked like a “Lloyd chosen one” plot line and I have a history of hating that kinda thing because it’s been beaten to death in ninjago at this point. While a bit of that was there I found it was done quite tastefully and didn’t overwhelm everything else story wise.
I felt that the pacing of the first 6-7ish episodes was a bit all over the place. Having the training arc and the Cole-Zane plot lines happen in the same episode with the pov switching back in forth felt a little bit off to me.
Sora and arins character arcs are shaping up to be pretty good. Soras more confident in her self than season one and she’s trying to help Arin but I feel like the whole using her elemental power to help Arin will backfire into her face. Arin’s insecurity and the whole how can I be useful if I don’t have an element I fell is being handled way better than the dumb kai arc in season 11(dw I will get to that when I get to kai) and it’s about on par with the Lloyd powerless plot from hunted. I am really excited to see what they do next and if Arin will be really mad at sora or not cuz like he’s super nice and stuff and I fell like he would be sad instead of mad.
Nya didn’t really have a lot going on personally except the stuff with Jay which I’m iffy on because so much of Nyas character in older seasons revolved around Jay and I just hope they don’t go back to that and let her character breath a bit.
In the topic of Jay I really really REALLY hope he isn’t evil. That the idea because it’s really out of character and they are already pushing my buttons with the lost memory crap because that’s something that I’ve rarely seen done well at all and it makes me very nervous and I just don’t like it. I do like that Jay just seems to be a guy who hates his job tho that’s fun.
I think the writers are just having fun with Zane and I think that’s cool. I do wanna punch the administration guy who said Zane isn’t a person because he is and he’s a bean and I will not allow this nobody to slander him.
It was nice to see more of Cole this season. I swear him and geo are so cute. The hand holding and the fact that they basically adopted two kids together is amazing and I am fully on board for this ship.
The villans were really interesting. I hope they keep up the quality with them because the mystery of ras’ master and wtf happened with jordana is really exciting. Cinder was intresting and as someone who has no interest in men what so ever I am kinda baffled at why so many people want this man but hey you do you. I do wonder what happened to ash tho. The member of the forbidden five looks interesting too and part of me is hoping that the leaked “evil jay” minifig is actually this guy just powered up cuz the color palette is similar enough and I just don’t want an evil jay.
Wyldfyre is amazing her whole leg being broken then sneaking on the ship to the exasperation of kai (like he would totally have pulled something like this a few seasons ago the hypocrite <3) and the others was so good. I am curious about her talk with egalt she mentioned one of her family members getting the wasting sickness but it can’t be heat wave cuz he seems fine so maybe she had more than one dragon guardian??? I do hope that Kai’s portal abduction does affected going into part 2 and that she bonds with nya and the others over it.
Egalt and rontu were very interesting to me and I’m glad they didn’t go the route of them being the actual creators of spinjitzu and kept the lore consistent I was slightly worried about that. Hope they come back in part 2 too.
Bonzle was a big surprise for me. I likes her personality in season 1 but I didn’t expect her to be so important. She’s really sweet and the scene with wu was great too.
And finally last but definitely not least, the best character in this entire show and my favorite comfort character to beat the shit out of
KAI
IT WAS SO FREAKING GOOD. I LITERALLY HAVE NOT BEEN THIS HAPPY WITH AN EPISODE SINCE SEASON 4 EPISODE 7 THE FORGOTTEN ELEMENT (iykyk) I was literately kicking my feet like a little girl and crying and screaming my head off to the point I woke up other family members. Him unlocking the rising dragon technique by having his sister help and being in harmony with his family is so fucking sweet and I cried like a little bitch it was so good. I am also so happy that they used his old hair and didn’t just slap a smaller version of his current hair onto him (tho I kinda wish they had used the fucked up custom hair that was in the older episodes but I doubt that model is even in their hands so whatever(side side note I love the fucked up hair so much it’s so stupid I love it and will forever miss it)) him being such a dad to wyld fire was so sweet and then using the rising dragon technique after he saw his family in danger was just perfect. I do kinda wish there was more of a dramatic reaction to him getting yeeted by ras into the portal (kinda like any of the other ninja “deaths/major injuries”) but im fine with what we got. Except I kinda hate that only nya has an outward reaction in the aftermath. No lloyd reaction no Cole reaction and nothing from Zane and it makes me mad because every other time a ninja had their moment there was a whole team reaction. But I’m feeling like that’s to nitpicky and there’s still ten more episodes to fix that so fingers crossed. But kai also encouraging bonzle to close the portal even if he’s trapped inside is such a kai thing and hit me like a truck. Also him calling bonzle kid dispite her being much much older than him is funny and sweet cuz Kai’s big brother/father figure side is coming through and it’s so sweet. And the ninja never quit line is so great I was sobbing even more after that. (Tho I don’t know why he said he got it from Lloyd when it would have made more sense to have it be from master wu cuz that’s where he learned it but eh whatever).
While im really happy about kai finally getting some well deserved angst im also very anxious about it too. This could be the perfect opportunity for the writers to just conveniently forget about him for a while and idk if i could sit through that. Kai is a huge part of why I watch ninjago and he’s always been handed the shortest stick character development wise and technically he never got his own focus season either (and no i dont count the pilots because that focused mainly on all the ninja and was only two episodes, i also don’t count season four because it was more a group season, and season 11 doesn’t count because he got a half baked b plot that sucked) I’m very worried that I will loose enjoyment in the show because I dropped the show out of disappointment after season 11 because A LOT of premonitional material made it seem like a kai season and I got my hopes up and was let down so much. I’m very cautious when getting excited about things involving kai in particular because of that and I’m just hoping the writers don’t fuck it up.
Ok that’s enough negativity for once. I’m so excited for more and am foaming at the mouth for more!

TOP 30 BL'S OF 2023
It's that time again! The end of 2023 is here, and 2024 is upon us! Once again, we were blessed with some truly amazing BL series and I have tried my hardest to rank them all. I could only narrow it down to 30 this time cuz there were so many good ones. If a BL is not listed, it probably means I haven't watched it yet, but it is likely on a "for later" list.
GOD TIER 10/10
1. The Eighth Sense (KOREA) Absolutely ADORE this series, it was so well done. Beautiful filming and locations, each episode felt very different in terms of setting, the pacing was nice, and the chemistry was really good too between the main pairing. It was great to get some nice kissing moments as well. Def. one of the best KBL's I've seen ever and easily fits into my top 5 BL's of all time.
2. I Cannot Reach You (JAPAN) One of Japan's best series imo. Very cute storyline, I found both characters extremely likable and fun. I love their cute friendship and subtle build up. I really enjoyed watching this one.
3. My Personal Weatherman (JAPAN) Another great one from Japan, with lots of high heat scenes. Parts of the storyline were a little confusing to me at times but I think a change of scenery could have benefited the series, but regardless, I still really enjoyed it week to week.
4. Kiseki Dear to Me (TAIWAN) Probably my favorite Tawain BL ever after We Best Love. I mainly just loved the chemistry between the two couples, they were both really fun to watch and had wonderful chemistry as well as lovely kissing scenes. Def excited to rewatch this one in the future.
5. Our Dating Sim (KOREA) It's hard to believe this was from 2023, but I recently rewatched the whole thing and it held up! It was a very fun and cute series, and the build up with the main pairing was so well done. It really felt like the writers took their time with this series.
TOP TIER 9/10
6. Stay With Me (CHINA) Shocking to see a chinese series on this list, but this is one of my all time favorite BL series. Some people might argue that it isn't BL, but I highly disagree. We got a few "cheek" kisses and most romantic scenes were heavily implied but for me, it was still worth the watch. The ending was rough to say the least, and I really hope we get a season 2 to sort of rectify that, but regardless, I really loved it.
7. My School President (THAILAND) Another series that feels like it was SO long ago, but is def. at the top of my list for Thailand. Gemini/Forth's chemistry was on point and I loved the cute moments and subtle build up in this one.
8. A Shoulder to Cry On (KOREA) My only critique with this series is the lack of a kissing scene. I know for some people that isn't important, but to me it is and I was a bit frustrated to get nothing after such incredible build up, but regardless, the series was really nice and I loved the tension between the main two characters.
9. City Boy Log (KOREA) This one is still ongoing and not quite a BL series technically, but its scripted, and we get lots of BL moments, so I will count it in my list. I am loving the web style filming of this series and both couples a lot. I hope the main pairing gets the opportunity to be in an actual series together.
GREAT 8/10
10. Utsukushii Kare 2 (JAPAN) Sadly haven't been able to see the movie just yet, but the 2nd series was pretty well done. Not as enjoyable for me as season 1 but I still really enjoyed watching the main pairing navigate their relationship.
11. Never Let me Go (THAILAND) One of the better series from Thailand this year imo. I really liked the chemistry between pondphuwin and the episodes were packed with some pretty interesting storylines and build up, it was very fun to watch.
12. Ameiro Paradox (JAPAN) I've seen some people hate on this series, but personally I loved it. I found the chemistry between the leads to be super strong and I loved the build up to them recognizing their feelings. The kissing scenes were great as well. There were a few blah plots but overall I really enjoyed it.
13. Moonlight Chicken (THAILAND) Something about this series felt a bit more mature to me and it was a nice change from some of the cheesier bl's that try so hard to be funny? I really loved all the pairings in this series and the storyline was nice.
14. Tokyo in April (JAPAN) For me this one started out great but then kinda lost me near the end. I did love most of the storyline but other parts were super frustrating to watch. I enjoyed the manga a bit more I think? But still, it was nice.
15. Bed Friend (THAILAND) Loved this one on first watch but on rewatch it was just okay for me. I think some of the plots were just over-dramatic and too depressing. But the friends with benefits plot was well done and the chemistry between the main two was really strong. It was fun.
16. A Breeze of Love (KOREA) I might have enjoyed this one a bit more had I seen the eps slower. Because I binged it's hard to get a good grasp on it but I did really like it. I liked the chemistry between the main couple and there was a sweetness to it I enjoyed.
17. Love Class 2 (KOREA) I think I slightly preferred the overall storyline of season 1, but in this one I preferred all the couples. For me that was the biggest draw. It was a tad bit confusing at first, but then it started to come together near the middle. Not the absolute best from Korea but enjoyable.
Good 7/10
18. Bump up Business (KOREA) Great chemistry between the leads but unfortunately the plot fell a bit flat for me. I feel like they could have done so much more with it. The kiss was also extremely weak, but that was expected. It was a nice series to binge, but not one of my favs this year.
19. Destiny Seeker (THAILAND) Parts of this one were really odd and I think part of my issue was having wonky subs, but regardless, I really enjoyed the series and especially the chemistry between the main pairing. Loved watching their story build, their banter was so fun. I also liked the side pairing but wish they had a bit more focus.
20. Why R U Korea (KOREA) This one did not remind me of the OG at all, which is fine, but overall I found this series to be a tad slow. There were good and bad moments.
21. Love Mate (KOREA) Some of the KBL's this year get a bit confusing and I mix them all together... this is one that sort of got lost in the shuffle for me and I would need to rewatch to give a better opinion on it but I know I did enjoy it.
DECENT 6/10
22. HiStory 5 (TAIWAN) Sadly didn't enjoy this season of HiStory as much as past seasons but it was okay. I think it had some good moments but overall left me a bit underwhelmed.
23. The New Employee (KOREA) Didn't love this one as much as others have seemed to. I didn't find the chemistry to be that strong and I also am not fond of office romances, but it was okay.
24. Dangerous Romance (THAILAND) This one was forgettable but again, had some enjoyable moments. I think I liked it more in the beginning rather than the end.
25. If It's With You (JAPAN) Sweet series that simply just fell flat for me because it just felt too short so I couldn't really get invested in it. But it was cute.
26. My Story (FILO) This one was good, I liked both pairings a lot and there were some decent kissing scenes, but there were also a lot of cringey moments and moments I had to fastforward. For The Philippines I think it was one of the better series this year, but it's not at the top of my list.
27. Sing My Crush (KOREA) Another KBL that is so quick that you can binge in one night... this one didn't deliver for me as much as it did for others. The chemistry was good and it was sweet but I just found myself a bit bored of it. Still cute tho.
28. The Director Who Buys Me Dinner (KOREA) The plot is weird AF and I am not a big fan of like historical past lives romance type of plots but I did enjoy the chemistry between the main two. It might be a bit higher if the ending wasn't so weird...
29. Starstruck (KOREA) Another KBL that is a bit forgettable to me but from what I remember I enjoyed it.
30. Bon Appetit (KOREA) See above. lol.
Honorary mentions: These were good but not quite good enough for my list. I liked them but had small issues with them. Either cheesey or boring plots, or the chemistry was lacking for me. Also they are in no particular order:
1. His Man 2 (KOREA) - Not BL at all, but a reality series which was AMAZING. LOVE LOVE LOVED the ending pair... but couldn't put it on the main list because it's not scripted.
2. Minato’s Laundry 2 (JAPAN) -season 1 was amazing, this one didn't hold up. Hated how awkward they were as a couple and it just felt too unrealistic to me. Regardless, i still love the chemistry between the main two and liked seeing them again.
3. Hidden Agenda (THAILAND) - love joondunk and wish they would get a better storyline. This plot was all over the place but the chemistry was there. The kisses were top tier!
4. Only Friends (THAILAND)- i did love the messiness of this one and there were some fun pairings with hot scenes, but overall I felt the SL was a bit chaotic and some characters never really grew. I wish they had leaned into the sexy/messiness of it a tad bit more tbh.
5. Stay by My Side (Taiwain) - cute but a bit forgettable. I did enjoy the chemistry a lot in this one tho.
6. You Are Mine (Tawiain) - same as above, except the pairing wasn't as exciting for me.
7. Our Dining Table (JAPAN) - i know everyone loves this one and it was very cute and sweet, but a bit too slow for my taste.
8. End of the World With You (JAPAN) - some interesting plots and fun to watch, but overall a bit messy and problematic at times? lol.
9. Til the World Ends (THAILAND) - see above.
10. Jack O Frost (JAPAN)- decently cute series but the tone of it was a bit too depressing for me.
11. The Day I Loved You (FILO) -started great but was too emotional/sad for me after a few eps in.
12. Unintentional Love Story (KOREA) - seems a lot of people loved this one but it wasn't really my cup of tea. I found the plot very slow and the main couple was kinda bland imo. But I am willing to rewatch it and give it another chance soon.
13. Between Us (THAILAND) - technically this started in 2022 but it finished in 2023, so I'll include it. It was okay but not great. Much better series for bounprem but still found myself a bit bored.
Watched these ones in 2023 but they didn't make much of an impact in me. They had good and bad bits but to me, mostly bad. lol (No particular order)
1. Jun and Jun
2. Past-tenger
3. Love Tractor
4. Egoist Movie
5. Happy Merry Ending
6. Be My Favorite
7. A Boss and a Babe
8. Step by Step
9. Naked Dinner
10. Wedding Plan
11. My Dear Gangster Oppa
12. Cutie Pie 2
These series were forgettable or annoying imo and and I wouldn’t necessarily recommend them to anyone. However, they might be worth skimming through like I did? Good luck! lol. (In no order)
1. Hit Bite Love
2. Naughty Babe
3. Laws of Attraction
4. Remember Me
5. Love Bill
6. 609 Bedtime Story
7. All the Liquors
8. Be Mine Superstar
9. House of Stars
10. La Pluie
11. Our Sky 2
12. Venus in the Sky
13. Tin Tem Jai
14. Middleman’s Love
15. Future the Series
16. Tie the Knot
17. Luminous Solution
18. Bake Me Please
19. Our Winter
20. Stay Still
Shows I watched in 2023 but that are from previous years:
1. Bad Buddy (loved it!)
2. Advance Bravely (weird but enjoyable)
3. Why You Y Me (good)
4. Ghost Host Ghost House (okay)
5. La Cuisine (meh)
6. Win Jamie’s Heart (forgettable)
7. Kabe Sa Doujin (blah)
8. Catch Me Baby (skimmed for netjames only)
9. 21 Days Theory (what is this again?)
10. Innocent the Series (already forgot it)
Tried and Quit: I just couldn't get into these at all... I will probably not watch these ever.
Crazy Handsome Rich
Dinosaur Love
Low Frequency
Love Syndrome 3
If a show is from 2023 and not listed above, then likely I plan to get to it later. Either I tried the premiere and it didn’t capture me at first, I couldn’t find the episode when I tried to look for it, or I simply just haven’t had time for it yet.
A few on my list that i plan to watch because I heard good things about them are: I Feel You Linger in the Air, Lost in Translation, Beyond the Star, Shadow, My Universe. Plus many others. Let me know if there is a show you really loved that I didn't mention so I can check it out!
Oh, and here are all previous lists since TUMBLR is being a little bitch and not saving the tags.

*kicks down door*
Guess who just saw The Super Mario Brothers Movie?
I DID.
Spoilers down below!
Did anyone else get like, weirdly honored, once they saw Mario and Luigi's family, especially the parents? Like. They made these dorks. They are the ones who brought them into the world and I am beyond grateful.
BOWSER MY FUCKING BELOVED!
I doubt we're going to have this, but I genuinely want an explanation as to why there's a magical pipe that leads to the Mushroom Kingdom in the human world? Mario mentioned earlier in the movie that the sewers look like no one has been down there for years... Was that pipe the reason why it has been abandoned?
Also, I'm genuinely surprised that Peach is given a canon backstory! And one that's about her origins as a human baby! Is Peach's disappearance from the human world the cause of the sewers being abandoned, because a search party went out for her but couldn't find her?
So. Many. References. And all of them are AWESOME.
I was genuinely looking forward to Luigi being attacked by Boos as well as Dry Bones and Shy Guys in the Badlands. But hey, what they showed in the movie was good enough for me. Hopefully, more Boos will come back in the sequel!
Of course, Bowser's castle/ship and the Badlands are my favorite worlds!
🎶Peaches Peaches Peaches Peaches Peaches Peaches Peaches Peaches Peaches Peaches Peaches Peaches🎶
BOWSER MY FUCKING BELOVED!!
I could mention only Mario's duel with Donkey Kong or the Rainbow Road ambush, but seriously everything in this movie was so action-packed and so fun to experience. One could say that the pacing of the story is very fast, but honestly I didn't mind. The Super Mario Brothers franchise can be (and is) very simple in terms of plot, so some speed doesn't bother me.
The part where Bowser practices his proposal with Kamek, who is dressed like Peach, is EVERYTHING. The white tuxedo hat, the piranha plant bouquet, Jack Black's performance... GAH IT'S SO ADORABLE!
And it just seems to me that, if the circumstances were different and maybe given a chance, Bowser would actually be a decent lover. Hell, the guy actually sounded so genuine whenever he mentioned Peach or was talking to her ("I'm going to sacrifice those guys... in your honor."). I mean, yeah he did force Peach to marry him and he has a raging temper and also gets jealous super easy, buuuut...
I'm just saying, if Peach doesn't want to marry him, shit I will! Homie just wants some lovin' and I can relate to that!
BOWSER MY FUCKING BELOVED!!!
My new favorite character? Lumalee. I love this psychotic little cutie!
"There is no escape. The only escape is the sweet release of death." "Finally... Mercy..." "Fresh meat for the grinder!" I want him as a pet. Can you have a Luna as a pet?
Mario and Luigi are so sweet, I swear to God! Y'ALL. Their brotherly love is so precious... 💕💕💕
The way Mario and Luigi hugged each other and touched foreheads when they reunited was... *gross, ugly sobbing*
KING BOO. KING BOO IS IN THIS MOVIE AND I WAS SO GODDAMN EXCITED. PLEASE NINTENDO, HAVE HIM BE THE MAIN VILLAIN OF THE SEQUEL!
Peach's wedding gown was gorgeous! The pink fading was beautifully designed! In fact, Bowser's wedding venue was really pretty!
Oh, did I mention this?
BOWSER! MY! FUCKING! BELOVED!

Rebbie's Wrestling Reviews - AEW Dynasty 2024
Kazuchika Okada (c) def. Pac by pinfall for the AEW Continental Championship in 21:55
This match was simply awesome. Two guys who have absolutely all the tools put them to good use in this opener. Pac sold everything amazingly, he is brilliant at what he does, and there were many great sequences between the two men. Some of the specifics of this one were absolutely unreal too. Avalanche brainbuster, that brutal barricade DDT Pac took, an awesome springboard moonsault, a standing Brutaliser, a Black Arrow into the knees: so much brilliant wrestling. Of course, there was also Okada’s rug pull of the Rainmaker taunt. He had us in the palm of his hand and everything about that moment was hilarious. Loved this one.

House of Black (Malakai Black, Brody King, & Buddy Matthews) def. Adam Copeland, Eddie Kingston, & Mark Briscoe by pinfall in 17:46
Super fun! Loved the energy they brought to this one, and the pace was quick which is just what I want from a trios match like this. Briscoe had a pair of great spots on the apron here, first launching himself off a chair to attack Matthews, but then being launched off into a brutal Death Valley Driver by King into the barricade. I also really enjoyed the triple Spears later in the match. Generally just great fun here all executed well, and I enjoyed Black picking up the win after never truly meeting Copeland in the ring until that final moment. That’s fun and I look forward to Black challenging for the belt in the future. Potentially at Double or Nothing? I will say though, maybe Rick Knox could have picked a better position to count that pin, he was looking directly into the misted face of Copeland…

Willow Nightingale def. Julia Hart (c) by pinfall for the AEW TBS Championship in 6:01
This is not the most revolutionary match on the card, but it was pretty satisfactory. It was pretty short, but I didn’t realise it was quite this short! It was worked sufficiently though and it gave us a big championship win for Nightingale! That’s going to be raising the rating! Mercedes Mone slightly cramps on what’s a lovely moment but I’m excited for their match at Double or Nothing! Feels big time!

Roderick Strong (c) def. Kyle O’Reilly by pinfall for the AEW International Championship in 17:18
Another brilliant match. Great sells, great strikes, great technical work: what not to love? Some of the transitions and reversal in this one were simply beautiful, there was an awesome ankle lock transition by O’Reilly, there was a tiger driver that became a guillotine hold, there were sweet counters of some of their common offence: I ask again, what’s not to love?! O’Reilly has great facials for a match like this and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing! I think the finish was a tad sudden, I’m not entirely sure why Wardlow showed up, but good for him. We also see that Adam Cole can walk post-match!
4.5 STARS OUT OF 5
Tumblr media
Chris Jericho def. Hook (c) by pinfall for the FTW Championship in 16:34
Please say sike right now. I will say, I was actually enjoying this one for most of its run. Hook has some awesome suplexes, he wrestles with such a unique form and stuff, he’s just very engaging. Hook sends Jericho through a table off the apron with a T-bone suplex, he suplexes him in a bin, and he kicks out of two Judas Effects! That all went so hard! I don’t particularly remember what Jericho did but oh well. Now, why the hell did he win? Jericho got to dominate, and like he overpowered Hook, in a strike exchange, which should never be happening with Jericho who is not known for anything close. Then, after all their action, Jericho is walking whilst Hook is selling his ass off for Jericho post-Judas Effect, and then he hits him with his baseball bat and wins. WHY?! I do think this “Learning Tree” character can be fun, but it should be a character where he goes in there and loses a lot, and convincingly. No one wants to see Jericho have many long matches, nor do they want to see him win titles. How does this help Hook? He does not need to reclaim the title again from the likes of Jericho, it makes him look like a dork. This should have been a feud where Hook won every encounter. Really stupid finish on a flawed but fun schmozz.

Toni Storm (c) (w/ Mariah May & Luther) def. Thunder Rosa by pinfall for the AEW Women’s World Championship in 15:08
First off, Team Timeless were absolutely slaying with the looks here. Yes, of course that includes you Luther. This was a pretty good match overall. Rosa hits a great Tornillo, Nigel McGuiness is a hoot on commentary as usual, and the Death Valley Driver on the apron was awesome. Some sweet sequences and combos in there too, like a cool tornado DDT into a Northern Lights suplex from Storm. I don’t particularly care for the Storm Zero kickout as it was done, I feel like it was a bit early for something like that for me. Rosa also had a real smooth transition into a backbreaker late on before Storm rightfully got the win. As I say, good match, just not the best. I feel I’ve never particularly gotten into Thunder Rosa’s work. Like, she’s a good wrestler, but I just don’t feel much about her in-ring skill, and I don’t like her promos. Regardless, they had a decent showing here.

Will Ospreay def. Bryan Danielson by pinfall in 32:40
I’m going to start by mentioning how brilliant the atmosphere was with this St. Louis crowd. They were awesome the whole night but here was their peak. Everyone was just having a blast it seemed. Now, there’s a lot of hubbub about this one, and I’ll start with this now: No, this isn’t the best match ever. What it is though is really quite great. So many unreal spots here and a solid bit of story throughout. There’s the likes of Danielson fully tying up Ospreay, the tiger suplex off the top rope, the series of counters from an Oscutter to a Lebell Lock, and the staredown with the elbow pad removal. I want to mention the dodging of a Hidden Blade to hit a running knee from Danielson, loved that. All of these moments were great. In my notes though, I did eventually end up writing three things down in all caps. First, “TRIANGLE HOLD STYLES CLASH”. Yeah, that’s awesome. There was also the finishing stretch with “HE JUST HIT A TIGER DRIVER 91 ON DANIELSON”. I think that speaks for itself as something wild. Thankfully he took it as safely as he could, that is to say “I bet his shoulder hurts like hell”. Then, the best of them all: “KNEE OSCUTTER REVERSAL”. This was simply perfect, what a reversal for the Oscutter, and what a running knee it was. Beautiful. Overall, it was a really nice match that pulled me round into loving it, even if Ospreay can be a bit much with some of his style for me. It works for a big match! I don’t love the finish really with the doctors, but it’s not super egregious. It was probably a Danielson idea, but I’d prefer a clean finish here. Maybe there’s a sequel on the horizon. Anyway, on a first watch, I’m concluding that “the greatest match in US history” is not quite that (some people just love a man’s particular style and that’s ok!), but is still pretty stellar.

The Young Bucks (Nicholas Jackson & Matthew Jackson) def. FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) in a ladder match for the AEW Tag Team Championships in 21:34
Now, something completely different! There’s plenty of ladder-based fun here, like some fun dropkick spots and one of the Bucks heading up for the belts off of a rope run. A ladder bridge was a large part of this one, first with a moonsault by Wheeler and an EVP Trigger by the Bucks atop it. Wheeler had a great performance here, and he hit a tope onto Matthew that sent him through a table, which I loved. Shortly after, Harwood would take a hurricanrana through one too, which I did like but it was a tad awkward. I really loved the Power and Glory off the ladders, that was super awesome, and the Wheeler tope through a table at the end was wild! He went so fast! There was a scary moment, as Nicholas would 450 Wheeler through a table, but as Harwood tried to piledriver Matthew through the ladder bridge, it would give way. Fortunately, it seems everyone is ok. This was a pretty fun match all-in-all, and I really enjoyed the finish with big shit-eating grin Jack Perry helping the Young Bucks.

Swerve Strickland (w/ Prince Nana) def. Samoa Joe (c) by pinfall for the AEW World Championship in 17:59
This is the moment I was waiting for! This was a pretty good match, Joe looked like an absolute beast in this one and I loved him for it. Swerve did his part too, selling very well for the big man. I especially loved his sell off the leg sweep, that was great. I do think the kickout from the Muscle Buster came a bit early in this match, it felt a tad flat for me, but it was soon followed by the House Call whilst Joe was in the ropes and the 450 Splash to the back of the head. I absolutely loved that spot. Those final moments were also great though, with Swerve doing whatever he has to do and with a great leap over Joe. That Swerve Stomp had me on my feet! The right man won here and it was absolutely essential here. What a great run from Samoa Joe though. Unfortunately, it is, indeed, Swerve’s House.
3.5 STARS OUT OF 5

Overall, this was a pretty good show! Not quite as good or as consistent as Revolution 2024, but another great PPV! This one is getting 4 STARS OUT OF 5 from me!

This is my obligatory movie review post.
And it was fine! I enjoyed watching it, the visuals were stunning, I liked most of the songs... my time wasn't wasted. But it wasn't... great.
Let's get the good stuff out of the way first.
I like Gabriel's arc in this movie. He's clearly not an abusive asshole like he is in the show, and it's pretty clear he's distant from Adrien because of his grief, not because he's an abusive controlling jackass. It really hammers in that he's deeply regretful about what he's doing once he finds out it's his son, unlike show Gabe who beat his own son up after finding out he was Chat Noir.
Marinette was really great in this movie. I like her character here and how she's finding out who she is and what she wants to do, and is learning to be more confident in herself. It works well without the large plot points in the show.
I like the songs. This seems to be a controversial opinion for some reason. But I like them. Gabe's villain song is the best song fight me.
Again, the visuals? Beautiful. Everything looked amazing and everyone was so pretty.
The villains were entertaining.
The scenes with Marinette being embarrassed by her dad were fun. It didn't really go anywhere as a plot point, and they should have done more with it, but I liked the idea.
I like how the movie gave Tikki some more character. Her excitement about adventure and her desire for danger? Love it. She's an adrenaline junkie and I'm here for it.
Master Fu works so much better as a cryptic, mysterious old man who just pops up out of nowhere to be funny and weird than as the shitty mentor he was in the show who we were supposed to take seriously. I actually enjoy his character here.
It was nice of them to show Luka going to the same school as everyone else lol.
I love movie Nino so much you guys.
LADYNOIR
But seriously, that Ladynoir song? Love it. I'm going to rewatch it over and over. Ladynoir won this movie.
But that being said, there are plenty of flaws too.
It was so rushed. Like, super rushed. Everyone just went from 0 to 180 real quick. It started out at a nice pace, but then it all just felt like they were crossing out bullet points on their notepads without taking the time to flesh things out.
The rules for the Miraculous are so inconsistent and vague. I don't actually mind this that much, but it's still kind of annoying.
Adrien doesn't have much going for him in this movie. It's still better than the show in that he actually got to confront Gabriel and take part in the final battle, but other than that, he didn't have much of an arc. It could have been better if they showed more interactions between him and Ladybug, but he went straight from being annoyed by her to being in love with her, and a montage isn't really enough for development. His arc had a good start and a good end but very little in between, so it didn't work all that well. It's not even clear why he was chosen for the Miraculous. We also didn't actually get that much between him and Gabe, so the ending moment between them kind of fell flat for me. But it was still pretty emotional.
This is also the case for Adrienette. The way Marinette met him wasn't as impactful as in the show, and there was little to no development between them. It would have felt more realistic for Marinette to like him if we had gotten to see them interact more. They could have showed him telling her about his mother in an actual scene rather than shoving it into a montage. As it is, it feels like she just likes him for his pretty face.
They should have let Christina Vee sing the songs. The person who sings for Marinette has a lovely voice and I do think her voice works well in the songs, but it's so jarring to go from Christina's voice to hers. They aren't similar in the slightest. It was better for Adrien.
The final battle was pretty anticlimactic ngl. Part of it is because of the rushed character arcs, and that made the payoff less impactful. But other than, it was still kind of low key. I enjoyed the battle in that Carnival better.
No iconic Miraculous Ladybug! No Lucky Charm.
Plagg. Plagg. PLAGG. PLAGG. They massacred my boy. His only personality is cheese and farting. Like, he's farting constantly. His bond with Adrien was non-existent. This is easily the worst part of the movie. I hate it. I hate it so much.
They ruined Plagg.
They ruined Plagg.
...Watermelon??
They ruined Plagg.
And yeah, that's about it!
All in all, it's a good experience. It's fun and enjoyable, the characters are nice. They are pretty different from their show versions. Especially Adrien, who's more about not getting close to anyone because he lost his mom in the movie, when his show version was about breaking free from his isolation and wanting to connect with others. But obviously, this is a different canon on its own and wants to show a different interpretation of the characters. It's alright.
It definitely has a lot of flaws, but also a lot of good points. Just like the show. I wouldn't say I like the movie more than the show. It's good for what it is, but I still prefer the characters and dynamics as they were in the series. Which is not to say that no one else should like the movie better, it's just not for me. I don't think they are really comparable anyway, because a movie is very different from a series.
For me, the thing is, I really love the show. And that's why Season 5 pissed me off so much. Because I love the show and it disappointed me. I wouldn't waste my energy on it so much if I didn't like it. And I did like the movie, but it didn't really have that spark for me that brought me into the show. Even if I despise many of the writing choices that the show has made over the years, I still like a lot about it. So my preference will always be for the show. But that doesn't mean the movie is bad, and I still did enjoy it.
Also, I like show Gabe (before the Season 5 finale) as an antagonist better than movie Gabe. He's a piece of trash and a waste of oxygen but he was a pretty well written antagonist when he was allowed to do stuff. Movie Gabe suffers from the same problem of his arc being underdeveloped and rushed, even if his personality is an improvement from show Gabe.
Anyway, movie was good. The last scene with Nathalie and Emilie looks like its hinting to a sequel, but that won't be coming out anytime soon, so we'll see.

Stuff From 2023!
List of things of note I experienced in 2023! A few things didn't technically release in 2023, I'm sure, but yea. Will contain my 'Top 10 Games I Played in 2023' as well.
Firstly, something I played a lot of this year in bursts but doesn't quite crack my Top 10 is Vampire Survivors. Very addicting, did some very fun goofy shit that had me laughing and engaged in a lizard brain way. Appreciated the many Castlevania references and jokes, too.
A couple of games I played every weekend for a few hours across many weeks this year were Project Zomboid and Roots of Pacha, both in a group 4. We had lots of fun with those two, and I think they're both great co-op time-sink games. Zomboid is a zombie survival sim that has way more attention to detail than its graphics may imply. It's still in early access but the depth to its is honestly pretty dang impressive. Pacha iterates on the Stardew Valley formula in a ton of small but deliberate, thoughtful ways that make for a nice twist on that Harvest Moon style game.
REMAKES
There were so many great remakes this year, on top of just amazing games in general, I can't fit them all into my Top 10. So here's a segment dedicated to most of the remakes I loved this year.
The remake of Super Mario RPG was such a surprise, and turned out very damn well. That game, turns out, is very near and dear to my heart and I did not fully appreciate that until this remake was revealed. It comes just shy of cracking my Top 10 list and that's honestly only because I finished Mother 3 finally right at the tail end of the year. This game manages to still feel weirdly fresh even today just due to how fucking strange it is, and the remake speeds up the pacing a bit while also adding in some new mechanics and a chunk of new post-game content. Everything was handled so well. This is like the new gold standard of complete one-to-one remakes of sprite-based games imo. I will admit the artstyle is a bit 'off' in some ways but I think it's very clean looking and captures that 90's CGI spirit really well, all things considered. And the music, OOF, so damn good.
The remake of Dead Space I don't have much to talk about, but it's very well produced. It's remade so well, in fact, that it felt like my memories of the original, even though I know it's not an exact recreation. Very well done and still holds up as a great horror action game with these improvements.
The remaster of Metroid Prime is so impressive it feels like a remake, even if the game is identical to the original aside from presentation and some control changes. It's an iconic classic, and yet I have no patience to do the Chozo Artifact stuff, so I actually did not roll credits on this version BUT still thoroughly enjoyed reliving the game with a very nice new coat of paint. It makes me excited to see what Prime 4 will look like on, I expect, more powerful hardware.
SHOWS/MOVIES
The year started strong with a TV adaptation of The Last of Us. While I've come to have conflicted feelings with the franchise at large, mainly due to its leading boss man, I thoroughly enjoyed the first season of this series. Very well done adaptation that picked and chose what to keep and what to change and honestly makes for a better story as a whole if you ask me, while not really replacing the game's tactile interactive tensions. Cannot wait to see what they do with Part 2 tbqh. I loved that game more than the original but also felt it was worse as an overall game/experience/narrative. But a fresh take on that same plot could potentially address a lot of the issues I had with Part 2, while simultaneously not really 'replacing' it, either.
The Bear. If you haven't seen it, it's just. Very good television. Two seasons in and it's sitting up there chasing Mr. Robot and Better Call Saul as one of the best live action series I've ever seen. Season 2 did such a great job of giving us deeper dives on the various characters and building toward an organic and rewarding conclusion that still leaves room for another season to theoretically wrap things up. Nothing too crazy with this show, it's super down to earth, and it owns that very well with editing and pacing that varies per episode, kind of in line with the different character perspectives.
Super Mario Bros.: The Movie had me worried for a while, mainly due to the animation studio and casting. And while I'm still not 100% sold on this celebrity casting, I will admit it didn't weight the experience down -- even if it's still the second weakest element by far. The weakest element is the writing. It's not, like, offense -- it's loyal to the source material and works, it functions. But it's not doing anything beyond pushing us from set piece to set piece. If anything, the movie is a bit too short for all of the stuff it's cramming in. But on the upside, there is a lot of amazingly rendered visuals and music to take in. A real treat for fans of the franchise, and the most loyal gaming adaptation in movie form, I would say.
Across the Spiderverse is in essence the first half of a two part film. That makes it kind of difficult to talk about, especially when it's also a sequel, and the production sounds like it was marred with bad management and crunch. But the results they came up with actually met my hopes and expectations for a sequel, and that is saying something, as I had very high expectations. I completely adore this film's stupendous sense of style, editing, framing, writing, and the way it's making meta-commentary on multiple levels on top of just being an effective narrative on its own. This is animated storytelling running at full capacity in my opinion, and in general just film doing all of the kinds of things film can do. So it's no wonder that there's still a rub -- this is the first half of the story they planned. The editing, animation, framing, effects, acting, action sequences, music, writing, theming, just Farore's sake, this is SUCH a damn banger of a film and one of the best movies I've ever seen, which, again, is kind of insane given the circumstances. I can only hope they don't fuck up the conclusion.
Scott Pilgrim Takes Off was quite the surprise announcement, and as it turns out, quite the surprise adaptation. I won't spoil much but I will say that by the end of the first episode, it becomes very apparent that this series is no mere by-the-books adaptation, and does something unique and edifying, even if it still maintains a certain surface-level depth I wish the franchise would push beyond. Either way, I enjoyed it way more than I expected to going in, and I think it makes for a great companion to the rest of the series. The animation style was super fun, as well, with some great action sequences.
But Blue Eye Samurai sucker-punched me, having released before I'd even known about it. This show is something else, something unlike any other animated show I've seen besides Arcane. And it's not like it's mimicking Arcane, it's just the closest I can think to compare it to: a quality, thoughtfully framed, thoughtfully written, made-for-adults animated series. It tows the line between fantasy and realism in a refreshing way, its protagonist is great, its cast is compelling, its plot goes to some neat places, and things just feel very well thought-out and well-executed. Slap this in second place behind Arcane as the TV series I am the most excited to see more of in the future, just ahead of The Bear.
Something I did near the end of the year was watch The Hunger Games movies, back to back over the course of like, a week. Have not read the books but man, watching these sure made me interested in doing so at some point. I totally get why people were so enamored with this franchise, and honestly, I think its themes and messages are more relevant now than they were when this franchise was at the peak of its popularity. The films certainly have glaring issues for my tastes but yea, I managed to really enjoy them as a whole despite my lack of mainstream sensibilities. Looking forward to reading the books eventually.
Another thing my wife shared with me was 花ざかりの君たちへ (often called 'Hana-Kimi' for short). Specifically, the 2007 version, as, uh, apparently there are multiple adaptations of this. It was a live action Japanese drama about a high schooler who was born female but transfers into an all-boys school, identifying as a boy while she is there. There's more to it than that, and I won't say it handles everything the best (it's from the mid 2000's) or concludes things in quite the way I'd have preferred. Not to mention it's kind of weird seeing many tropes I'm used to seeing in anime rendered by physical, real actors. BUT it was overall a really sweet, adorable, funny, heartfelt, and reached for pro-queer expression in a time and place when that wasn't mainstream yet (and honestly kinda still isn't depending on who you ask).
Good Omens Season 3 also dropped this year. I actually don't have much to say partly because I think a big element of it is just not knowing what to expect going into it! But it was also very good, very fun, pretty damn gay, I really enjoyed it and am crossing my fingers hard they get to wrap it up the way they want.
All right! Onto my personal top 10 GOTYs.
TOP 11 GAMES
(I played and finished in 2023)
11) Mother 3
The one entry on this list that did not actually come out this year -- in fact, it's never technically released outside of Japan. Originally release in 2007 on the Game Boy Advance, this quirky RPG has developed quite the reputation. I started playing the fan translation back in like 2020, and only got around to finally finishing it this year. While that likely did tarnish the experience a bit for me, so does the final third or so -- it kind of drags on a bit, and any old school format RPG that requires grinding to progress can become a bit of a chore.
Thankfully, Mother 3 did earn its hallowed reputation in my eyes now that I have experienced it. I totally get the passion for this game now, and I am a convert. It makes me want to finally finish Mother 2, aka Earthbound. But here's the biggest thing about Mother 3 I weirdly did not expect going in, yet smashed my face in like a hammer by the time I finished it:
without Mother 3, there is no way Undertale/deltarune would exist.
The DNA for Toby Fox's works is achingly obvious in its relation to this game, specifically. I won't spoil anything and I won't go into my long list of evidence like an Ace Attorney case, but trust me, there is ample evidence to make this claim.
And that also means that Mother 3 stands on its own merits as doing things that RPGs just plain were not doing in 2007, and in some ways still aren't today. Aside from some pacing issues further in, the characters in your party aren't as developed as much as I'd like. BUT the overall narrative it tells, especially in those opening chapters, have a rare kind of earnest, human magic to them that most games just don't let themselves fall into. And it concludes in ways I did not expect and yet offered clarity as to why it is so beloved, and how Toby Fox was so inspired to put his own mark on the gaming landscape.
I owe a great deal to Undertale, personally, and as such, I also owe a great deal to Mother 3. You don't need to have played others in the series to enjoy it, you'll just be missing some referential stuff here and there. It's quite playable and unique by today's standards and I strongly recommend it if you want an RPG that is heartfelt, funny, fun mechanically, and has some simple but hard-hitting things to say about the world we live in, and what we are doing to ourselves and that world.
10) Super Mario Bros. Wonder
What can be said that hasn't been said already? Nintendo knocked it out the park with this one. This was everything I've wanted in a 2D Mario for like 15 years. The only thing 'missing' from it is playable Rosalina, but hey, we finally got Daisy in a mainline Mario game, so I'll take it. After a decade or so of dragging their feet with low-effort but enjoyable 2D games, Super Mario Wonder finally, at long last, captures what makes Nintendo games great and with their best foot forward. They haven't done 2D Mario this well since World on the SNES in 1991. And they have never put this level of production into a 2D game since... ever?
This is one of the all-time best 2D platformers out there, and for once it finally feels like 2D Mario is running on all cylinders as a big budget passion project kind of game. You love to see it.
9) Scarlet Hollow
This game isn't technically finished yet, as it is episodic, and its developers wanted to release Slay the Princess in the interim, but that doesn't stop its quality from being good enough to make my list. This game is doing the kinds of things visual novels should be doing, the kinds of things I wish to do in a sense with my own visual novel development.
It's a horror themed experience but balances the high tension with actual real stakes very well against mostly down-to-earth conversations, with lots of great tricks and touches of presentation you don't typically see in indie visual novels, along with a fantastic art style, charming characters (my favorite character has turned out to be the one I immediately disliked at first, and that's rare for me), and meaningful choices.
I can't wait to see how this one wraps up but even as it stands it's one of the best things I experienced in 2023.
8) Xenoblade Chronicles: Future Redeemed
I will admit I skipped Xenoblade Chronicles 2 after giving it an honest go in like, 2019 or so. A few hours in and i couldn't stomach it, the tonal whiplash from Xenoblade 1 (one of the best RPGs I've ever played) was too much for me. But then Xenoblade 3 came out last year, and is also one of the best RPGs I've ever played, even better than the original for my tastes.
But I wasn't prepared for the DLC to drop a whole ass side-game on us, a self-contained prequel to 3 that serves as narrative cohesion to tie the whole trilogy together with a bow on top, complete with perfectly tuned fanservice (and not the sexy kind, although grown-up Rex and Shulk, well, yes) that really respects its fanbase for investing hundreds of hours in this franchise.
Matthew is easily one of my all-time fav RPG main characters, probably the favorite RPG main character when I think of it (as main characters specifically go, anyway), and his game is a fraction of the length of many RPGs out there. But as usual, the entire cast had their charms, the story was nicely paced, the gameplay and overall length was just about damn perfect for what I could want from the genre.
As an expansion to a pre-existing game, this is one of the top 3 best expansions/DLCs I've ever played. When taken as a side story to an overarching trilogy, I'm not even 100% in on the lore and I still enjoyed the hell out of it, it's just the kind of thing that hits a tone of 'damn, video games are a fucking unique medium that we can do specific narrative things with across years of telling a story.'
I don't know where Monolith Soft is going next, though the ending certainly offers some intriguing teasing, but I suspect I will be there day one to see it, and am looking forward to it.
7) Pikmin 4
Given the long wait (10 years!) one might understand fan concern over the state of Pikmin 4. Turns out, that extra time was spent making this game fucking good. It's not the largest, most impressive, most complex, most inspiring, most 'anything' game I played this year, and yet I can't help saying that this is a damned good video game. It really nailed what it set out to do as a sequel, incorporating just the right ideas to spice up the formula while bringing things back to how Pikmin 2 was, and improving on the series in basically every way -- including stuff to do!
This is easily the most Pikmin game... in a Pikmin game. I still haven't 100%'d it. Without giving away any details, I'll just say that when a game rolls credits and you're only like, halfway through its content, and it just keeps going, that's just kind of wild. It would've felt like a great game even then, but the breadth and depth it ends up going to in order to keep giving you ways to engage with its wonderfully detailed world and addictive mechanics, I love it.
I just want more of it. Give me DLC with more Dandori content, the formula and feel just works so well at this point.
6) Sea of Stars
How the hell I forgot to include this one on my list initially is boggling. Easily one of the best indie games I've ever experienced. The writing is nothing to, well, write home about, but it's not bad. And in fact the story has a lot of great things going on, from an interesting world to a very potent arc with the leading support character (who, let's face it, is kind of more the main character than your two main characters).
The game's art and music are phenomenal, capturing the essence of 90's era RPGs but clearly doing things not capable back then. Made even sweeter, the game is a prequel to the studio's prior work, The Messenger, which I also played and adored in tandem, kind of going back and forth between the two once I was partway into Sea of Stars. The way this RPG repurposes songs from Messenger as well as all kinds of seemingly superfluous elements but makes it feel cohesive is pretty great.
The game also trims a lot of the fat you'd find in older RPGs, as well as lets you customize your experience in a modern way using collectibles you can toggle on and off to grant all kinds of effects, like increasing or decreasing the difficulty in various ways.
The homage paid to classics like Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG is clear but it's not at all copy-cat-ing, instead wearing those inspirations proudly on its sleeves and forging its own path with its own ideas. A fantastic collection of party members, a wonderful world, amazing presentation, and environments and pacing that help it stand apart from the genre that inspired it. I wish we got to know the leads better, there is a lack of character growth in many ways, but that's me grasping at straws to critique, it's just a fantastic experience and the studio should be very proud of what they've accomplished.
5) Hi-Fi Rush
This is gonna be a running trend from here on out, but on any other year, Hi-Fi Rush would've been my GOTY, easy. From this point on, we're talking measures of inches rather than miles in terms of my love for these games.
Hi-Fi Rush finally delivered on something I have waited like 20 years for: a rhythm action adventure where playing the game in sync with the music felt fucking cool and gave me emotional resonance in a way only this medium can. The humor was charmng. The visual aesthetic is almost peak 'my taste.' The music was groovy with a few tracks I did not see coming but loved seeing how they were incorporated. The story was surprisingly fun! The characters were fantastic, I loved the entire main crew in a way I rarely ever do and would jump at the chance to spend more time with (and hey, there's a whole bunch of post-game I have yet to do, so I intend to in 2024).
The only real thing I could reasonably ask for from this game is a way to play as those other party members in post-game content or new-game plus or something. And who knows, maybe we get that some day. Even if we don't, what they came up with here is the next best thing besides. And what we got is one the most video-gamey video games I have ever played, a real classic and one I think will go down as one of my all-time favs. A passion project given meaningful time, budget, and creatives to bring it to life.
Had this game offered multiple playable characters, a bit more development in its story, and maybe a stronger climax, it'd be higher. I still love it to death and want more games like it regardless.
Hi-Fi Rush is exactly what kind of game we could have gotten more of if the Internet hadn't pushed gaming into a 'live service' direction. It is literally the spirit of a PS2/GameCube game given modern form. And either way, we did get it, at least, in that form, and it fucking rocks.
4) Resident Evil 4 (Remake)
This year was big for remakes and remasters, but one stands tall above the rest, if you ask me. The original RE4 has stood as my fav in the franchise, the one that got me into the franchise, the one that got me into M-rated games in the first place. Lots of nostalgia, but it's held up surprisingly well over the years despite some limitations of the time (mainly the controls) and some older-fashioned sensibilities ("with ballistics, too~").
But Capcom fucking nailed it with this reimagining. Like Final Fantasy VII: Remake, this game is not a remaster, or a one-to-one recreation. It is a brand new game, built from the ground up, reimagining the original entirely, complete with new mechanics and story. But unlike with FF7, this is also shockingly authentic and loyal to the original at the same time. It remixes elements from the original game, maintains most of the original's map design, adds in new stuff, removes some of the more goofy shit -- and even 90% of what feels 'removed' is revealed to be repurposed for the Ada side story DLC.
It looks great, it sounds great, the adjustments to characters and story are improvements across the board, (except for Hunnigan, RIP) the gameplay is improved in intensity and feel and action and replayability. And yet despite all of this, it balances that campy tone of the original just enough to still evoke what I loved about the original's tone. And it doesn't outright replace the original game, either. The two are now like different recipes of the same sandwich or something. There's reasons to revisit the original, though for me this has now replaced the remake of RE2 as my fav in the franchise.
I really don't know where they go from here but I will look forward to it, and regardless, they fucking nailed this one.
3) Street Fighter 6
Two Capcom games, back-to-back? They had a fucking good year in my eyes. The interesting thing about this particular entry is that unlike the others on this list, I will be continuing to play this one for hours and hours into 2024, especially with more fighters still planned. And in another year, this would've easily been my GOTY.
After all, Street Fighter 6 is the single-best traditional fighting game I think I've ever played. And while fighting games are my overall personal favorite genre, I'm more of a Smash player who also loves the hell out of Street Fighter and then dabbles in Tekken and whatever else releases. Street Fighter has always been one of my go-to top multiplayer games since I got into the franchise with SF4 in 2010. While I did enjoy SF5 well enough, it just didn't keep me hungry to come back for more like 4 did. SF6 has fixed that problem by way of a multitude of changes.
It has easily the most fun single player mode I've seen any fighting game have. Like, yea, The Subspace Emmisary (and even then, I don't love that mode like other folks do, I kinda think it's... fine?) but tbqh World Tour is just better in most every way. You get to build your own fighter, earn and mix and match different costumes and individual character special moves with each fighter's fight style. You get to just hang out with the SF characters, get to know them as people, their hobbies, their fears, their insecurities, their passions besides just beating the shit out of each other. On top of this, the realistic art style shift (a by-product of the RE Engine) seals the deal on what Street Fighter 6 is aiming to do: humanize its cast.
Is it still wacky as fuck? Is it still comical and weird and goofy? Hell yes, it is. Is the story mode deep in its narrative? Not in the slightest. But it's still stepping confidently in a direction fighting games should be trying to, not being too self-serious, but also being earnest.
And I haven't even touched on the mechanics! The Drive System alone is a brilliant addition that adds a sort of 'stamina' system that works so well to add an extra layer of decision making and tension. The game's not perfectly balance imo but for how much is here it is surprisingly damn well balanced, especially given they have insisted on not pushing out a single balance patch since it launched in June. For most any other competitive game, that would be like suicide for the scene, but the game seems to be thriving and selling extremely well for the franchise. And it's earned it.
I will absolutely be continuing my warrior's journey into 2024 and I can't wait to see what else Capcom has in store for this game.
2) Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Out of every game I played in 2023, Tears of the Kingdom is easily the most technically impressive. From a design standpoint, from a 'how in the hell is the Switch doing all of this without exploding' standpoint. From a 'holy hell how is there this much stuff in a single player game' standpoint. From a 'oh my goddesses that stupid batshit idea I had 100% worked because it actually did make sense' standpoint.
Where Breath of the Wild opened our minds as to what an open world game could be -- fully designed like one giant interconnected 'level' -- Tears of the Kingdom replied in much the way I expected: it pulled a Super Mario Galaxy 2. What I mean by that is that this is a direct sequel, building directly off the foundation of the original. You know. Like video game sequels almost always used to. And which many very successful ones still absolutely do.
But Tears of the Kingdom somehow managed to wow me all over again by adding to that open world's verticality in insane ways -- the Depths alone are probably my favorite 'mechanic' from any Zelda game ever besides the time loop of Majora's Mask (and what that did for the story and gameplay). But beyond the scale of the world basically doubling and then some (floating islands and caves on top of Depths), I was curious how this game could stand tall after Elden Ring, which is easily in my top 10 favorite games of all time at this point. Elden Ring was Fromsoft's reply to BOTW. And yet Tears of the Kingdom still managed to have something new to say in spite of that very strong reply.
Tears of the Kingdom opened the door to let players essentially create their own mechanics. By removing the abilities Link had to engage with the world before, and replacing them with a brand new toolset that includes abilities you just... don't see games give you, because they'd be 'overpowered,' TOTK designs its massive world in ways that invite you to use those 'overpowered' abilities however you see fit.
Being able to interact with the world and objects in this way, being able to fuse them together to create all kinds of effects, or new methods of transportation, even interacting with things not just spacially but in respect to time, it's nuts and fun and I've already poured like 130 hours with still so much I haven't done. And that's the thing: this game wasn't designed to be 100%'d. It was designed to just... be experienced, as much or as little as you want. And games on this level of scale/budget just do not have the guts to let so, so much 'content' be missed out on. And this game does.
It's a technical achievement and while I had my doubts with how strangely little Nintendo had to show, I am very glad that the experience itself manages to breathe new life into one of my all-time favorite games while improving on it in so many ways. It won't convert you if you didn't love the original -- this is a Super Mario Galaxy 2 style sequel, after all. But it's essentially replaced the original in ways I didn't think would be possible.
The story? Oof. Uh, not so much the story, let's ignore that part. That's what Nintendo wants you to usually do, anyway. But everything else, just. Din-damn.
It expands upon the first game's already fairly open-ended nature in an exponential way that I suspect developers will spend years to come trying to pin down, much like how they've spend the past 6 or 7 years trying to replicate BOTW's open world design.
For much of this year, I thought this was personal GOTY. And for many it will be, because it's just an extremely impressive video game.
Number 1...?
Going into this list, I kept telling myself, 'man, on any other year, this would be my GOTY. And if you know me personally you likely have already figured out what my GOTY is by omission. But the more I've thought about it, the more I've realized just how close these top 5 games are, it really is like centimeters instead of inches, and they each -- well, every game I've mentioned here, beyond the Top 10, as well -- offered something edifying that I was very satisfied with.
And no, it's not Baldur's Gate 3. While I have spent hours playing it in co-op and a little bit solo, that game's just not really for me, exactly. Like, I can enjoy it, and I have massive respect for the dev team and what they accomplished with it. But I don't much care for D&D, and the game just didn't do very much for me personally, I lack the motivation to finish it. Remove Karlach from the game and I have next to nothing to really attach myself to, personally. I definitely get why it's many people's favorite game of 2023, though, and I do think it's a bit of a wakeup call for what can be accomplished by just making a GAME instead of struggling to contort it into a service etc.
Street Fighter 6 is fucking fantastic but it could still use some more actual fighters and incentives to keep playing besides monetizing its players in weird ways. I love it, and it will be the game from 2023 I end up playing the most (it already is, I think). But if it ended as it is, I would be very satisfied.
Hi-Fi Rush is oozing with originality and style and I adore it to death, and when I finished it, I was very satisfied.
Resident Evil 4 kept me addicted for over 100 hours, had an amazing DLC expansion, oozes replaybility in the specific ways I like for a single player action game (rogue-likes besides). I am extremely satisfied by it.
Tears of the Kingdom is so massive and fun to just explore that I know I will continue to play more in the months to come. Will I ever revisit it entirely? I'm actually not sure! That massive length does lend some repetition, even if it's the kind I find therapeutic and satisfying.
And that's what made me realize something. My personal GOTY did not just satisfy me. It made me hungry. It filled me up in a way I didn't think was possible and yet I still hunger for more, because I enjoyed it that fucking much. I played through it twice and still hunger for more. I know I will play it a third time eventually, but mainly I just have not been to remove from my brain the particular ways it made me feel, ways that only a video game can. Nothing about it felt like it needed to be overlooked.
SF6 and RE4 had dubious monetization, TOTK had a story I found to be like 90% boring and it still maintains many of the flaws of the original. And Hi-Fi Rush, while amazing, just didn't scratch the particular itch this game did for me.
1) Lies of P
If you told me that Lies of P was a game developed by some sub-division of FromSoft, I'd believe you. Which is to say I would also believe that it was made by people who wanted to break free from some of the shackles of the now infamous 'soulslike' genre.
A narrative that actually makes sense by the end? Opening up options for the player without requiring specific stat levels? Encounters and boss fights that feel ravenously challenging without just feeling like cheap bullshit? Music that crosses borders beyond 'angry chorus, angrier orchestra'?
Lies of P doesn't quite eclipse Elden Ring, but that's an absolutely unfair comparison given the utter scope and scale and variety that game packs. But Lies of P improves at the FromSoft formula in specific ways, while making concessions in others, and as a result it's just an experience that seeped into my brain like no other game this year, not even Tears of the Kingdom, despite that I put half the hours into this one.
I love all of the games I have mentioned here, you could honestly swap around the order of this top 5 and I could mentally meander a way to justify why, no, actually, this one was my favorite game of 2023. In a year so awful for the people who make games, yet so amazing for games themselves, Lies of P is exactly the kind of game I needed. I needed someone to show me that you can make something directly inspired by someone else's work, yet fine tune it in all the right ways to make it stand just as tall in terms of quality and design. Lies of P made me feel things in ways only a handful of games ever do -- and I would actually count Hi-Fi Rush among those in a regard.
But Lies of P also told a story I found compelling. It had mystery, tension, buildup, it started off seeming like it would do the vague FromSoft schtick only to 100% come together, make sense, be rewarding, and offer a 'true ending' that I got on the first playthrough, organically, without looking things up, because it just... felt right. Not only is the game adapting FromSoft's formula into something its own, it's also doing that with the story of Pinocchio. The gameplay and the story congeal together not in the 'perfect' way that it does with games like Celeste or Undertale, but rather in a more... messy way, like a puppet aching to become a real boy.
The game is full of loss, in its world and for you as the player, who will die many times. But unlike much of FromSoft's catalogue, I never once felt like I died because of bullshit. Was I trolled? Sure, the game definitely 'trolls' you in classic FromSoft fashion, lulling you into a sense of security only to sweep you off your feet. But unlike how FromSoft does it, these circumstances can always be avoided if you're cautious. And if you're not? Hey, 'We got you! We gooottt youuu, haha' and you lose a couple minutes of progress, rather than like fifteen minutes and also an entire level's worth of souls because oh right, this section you just got through is kind of bullshit cheap.
Don't get me wrong, I love Dark Souls. But the thing is, Lies of P takes the parts I love about Dark Souls, admits it can't pull off quite the intricate web of level design, but then throws away everything I do not like about Dark Souls, improves on the things I already liked, and then pushes me to meet it on its level.
The satisfaction of being a boss you spend an hour, two hours on, cannot be understated. It's a feeling unlike any other, and one only this medium can provide. And Lies of P kept me motivated, like Sekiro before it, to keep improving, keep growing, keep trying. And unlike Sekiro, it gave me so many more tools to play with, to learn, to balance in an arsenal with intent. Enemies have elemental weaknesses if I so choose to exploit them, the moveset of one weapon's handle can be applied to a completely different blade, my robotic arm can leverage things in a pinch, or be the backbone to dealing with a boss. Mastery is rewarded with practice. A vicious boss that annihilates you in five seconds can be defeated without a single scratch if you practice enough. Mastery, creativity, quick thinking, and reacting are all rewarded here.
I am more than the hands pulling the strings, I am more than a puppet, I am human. And games like this can only be made by humans, who get that specific itch that only video games that challenge us can scratch. It's not an itch everyone has, but that's why it's my GOTY and not yours, innit?
With its unique setting, its wonderful music, its cozy hub area, its narrative that offers just enough to make me care, but not so much that I am bored or feel misled, its amazing boss designs, and its wonderfully tactile and engaging combat, Lies of P is a game I just can't stop feeling something about whenever I am reminded of it.
It epitomizes so much -- not all, but much -- of what I love about what video games can do, what adaptations can do, and much like how Toby Fox was inspired by Mother 3, what people can do when they are inspired by someone else's work.
As far as I can tell, this is developer Round8's debut game, and just. Holy hell, what a way to come out swinging. I haven't seen a debut game hit this hard since, I don't know, Bastion.
Close your eyes. Come to me. Feel all right.
I did, and I do, and given what you teased at the end of this game, I have extremely high hopes of what you come up with next. And in a landscape where things feel more difficult to get excited for with each passing year, much less new IP, it's so damn refreshing to have both Hi-Fi Rush and this game standing out as signals that, hey, some folks are still willing to invest bigger budgets into new games, new ideas.
Again, a battle of centimeters here and at this point I should wrap this up and go to bed.
But yea, Lies of P reminded me of what makes me, specifically, human, in a very particular way that only it has. And I honestly think out of all of single player games of 2023, I think it will actively stand out in my heart the most in the years to come.

Closing thoughts on Mahou Tsukai Precure!
Since I ended up progressing at unexpectedly rapid speed with the first half of this season I wondered if I would manage to fit everything in this year's summary, and it turns out I did, with a couple days to spare too!
Tumblr media
I had seen that the general opinion on this season skews negative, expect for the shippers, which I am not, so I didn't have too high expectations. But I'd say that for me it managed to crawl its way to mid tier.
Like I said in the first impressions post I somehow thought Mirai would be a more toned down lead, but unfortunately that was not the case. Especially in the beginning she really got on my nerves, with how she forced herself into Riko's company and how in many episodes her energetic and carefree way clashed with Riko. But things improved on this front when they properly became friends, and overall I think characters like this work better in a duo where attention can be divided more equally over a group where it can lead to the whole cast singing the praises for her virtues. In the end Mirai isn't the worst of her ilk but I didn't like her either. Cute clothes though.
Then there's Riko who in theory should be my fave, with her more serious mannerisms, but she's tied so strongly to Mirai who drags her down that I didn't end up getting a lot out of her. Still she was likable enough and I would have liked to see more of her working through her insecurities.
Mofurun also exists and… she's just too much, she's such an unbelievably cutesy, saccharine, twee, cloying mascot (especially the voice) that it's a definite no for me. However I must admit that she didn't really ~do~ anything wrong, like she doesn't instigate mascot-causes-trouble escapades and in general manages to be surprisingly chill and level-headed. So begrudgingly I have to concur that she makes for an alright mascot even though I certainly won't miss her.
So completely unexpectedly my favourite character turned out to be the magical baby, who knew? Though to be fair she had very little presence in her infant and baby forms and the next one skipped toddler and went right to small child. Her excited and a little out of breath "Haa!" simply works for me every single time she says it, and she also sounds super elegant in her Cure form; overall very good voice acting work on her. And green cure discourse aside I like her design a lot as well, especially the powerup form. She also has a unique role in both the story (her origin and final fate) and character dynamics (the child to Mirai and Riko's mothers), which is definitely a rarity in Precure. She was responsible for quite a lot of trouble though so logically I shouldn't like her as much as I do, but I've decided to open up my heart for her.
Tumblr media
The plot was pretty weak, nobody watches Precure for the plot but here the pacing somehow felt particularly plodding and big revelations weren't set up well enough. Like the headmaster's Very Special Friend, that stuff came out of nowhere, and the show also switches its end boss in the middle but takes its sweet time introducing the new one so we're left with flat randos we know nothing about for way too long. Overall incredibly weak villains, might be an all-time low for Precure. I read that the overdesigned smug bishie one is more popular but to me he was just as boring as the rest.
The supporting cast was decent though and I really liked the three magical school classmates. Though there are two wolves inside me, and one of them wants more non-Cure friends for more varied character dynamics, but the other wants magical girl designs for everyone. I'm glad I knew not to expect them to become Cures though (even one-off side Cures) because otherwise I would have been disappointed.
Even if the story and villains were pretty weak, the finale was still great both in terms of epic mahou spectacle and emotional sendoff for the characters. And they spent a lot of time for a proper timeskip ending, I kept checking the runtime and wondering if they're actually going to focus on quiet character moments for over half of the episode and it turns out they did. So I'd say the ending was one of Precure's best. Or the actual final episode was terrible capitalistic drivel as far as I'm concerned but I'm just going to pretend it doesn't exist.
Final verdict is mixed feelings, with Ha-chan being the only real highlight, but the low points were still manageable. And now I'm ready for the sequel well in advance!

This is the first time I'm gonna get in on reviewing the new Helluva boss episode because this was the one I was most excited for! But before I do that, I'm saying it now:
I saw a lot of negative reviews were focused around the Ozzie texts between Stolas and Blitzo and well...I'm sorry guys but my main focus is on THIS MAN RIGHT HERE
Tumblr media
So without further a dooooooooo...
I honestly enjoyed Striker in this episode! I love seeing a wackier side of him and not just edgy edge lord, low voice, "I'm gonna eat your kids" through the whole episode. I understand why some people were super disappointed in him not being as threatening as he was in the first episode, but hey. This is a cartoon about dumb demons and sex, I try not to take it too seriously already! (๑•﹏•)
(I also wanna say this now, I was also one of the people taken back by the change in voice actors, but I ain't even gonna let that bother me too much: I know folks like Norman are gonna be mighty expensive or too busy to keep around. As sad as it is, if I can get used to Stolas new voice, I can do the same for this one as long as it means more Strike!)
Speaking of Striker, the main criticism I keep seeing is that he was too egotistical, and because of that statue everyone is just saying he was another Chaz. But I honestly don't get this one?
Striker was ALWAYS just as entitled and self centered in the first episode: Did we forget this man literally made a song all about how awesome he is (That didn't even rhyme) And his speech to Blitz where he talked about how he was above the imps? The statue seems pretty in character for him! Striker has always sucked his own dick, maybe it was a little overzealous but definitely not enough for me to say he was just a full blown Chaz!
Tumblr media
Plus, that man still took his job pretty damn serious! Never once was Striker incompetent or a dumbass in this episode. He knew his mission and he was damn malicious about, I mean if you gonna try to tell me this man wasn't just as bloodthirsty as he was last time-
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This man has never once hesitated to hurt anyone who gets in his way or just for the fun of it and I think it still shows greatly here!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
All and all, I have to disagree with everyone saying his character was "ruined" or "too Chaz like" Striker definitely did not spend the episode going on and on about how his dick is the biggest or how everyone wants to fuck him like Chaz would. (R.i.p Chaz, I love you sweetie!) As left field as the statue was, it definitely didn't steal from the fact that this man was once again determined to finish his job. Which got taken away from him by Stella at the last minute, which he was super bummed about, but he does get paid extra soooo! 🎉🎉🎉
(Full disclaimer: I didn't really care for the Stella part of the episode, I do like the voice actor for snowy owl though. But overall they really were just there...it's really hard to say anything about it other than the fact that she didn't want Stolas killed sooooo (@_@;))
Now for the big stuff: The pacing.
I have to say...I do have to agree with everyone when they say the pacing was all over the place. I have to admit: With all the trailers that we were getting, I was expecting this bad boy to be long as hell! At least a good 25 to 30 minutes because we were getting all kinds of things! But man...
Even though the little vet visit was funny, and I am a huge fan of that cute lil goat doctor, it did take away from the actual tension. I came here for badass Striker! And not to mention M&M barely got time to shine as well! The pacing really was just:
BOOM! STRIKER KIDNAPPED STOLAS--
Loona scared of vet 🥺
BAM! MOXXIE AND MILLIE ARE GONNA TAKE ON STRIKER BY THEMSELVES, OOOOOO POWER COUPLE--
Blitz and Karen yell at each other 🤬
RAAAAAH, STRIKER STABBY STOLAS, MILLIE AND MOXXIE CRASH THROUGH ROOF THOUGH, IT'S TIME FOR THE MOST EPIC FIGHT--
Loona got her shot 😊
I feel like we totally got robbed on a much more epic fight and some shades thrown from M&M and Striker, especially when it was a highlight of the trailer! These two being able to properly settle a score with Striker would have really made for such an amazing tension scene since they were the main ones who were affected by him in the first episode. LIKE GUYS, LET MOX AND MILL SHINE WHEN BLITZO ISN'T AROUND, I BEG YOU! THEY'RE AMAZING TOO!! 😭
I will stand by everyone when they say: WE NEED MORE MILLIE DAMNIT!
The ending with Stolas definitely tugged at my heart strings, I won't lie! But again, I'm not here for the Stolitz angst, I was just here to see Strikey boy. WHO DIDN'T DIE, SO YES! TAKE THAT TWITTER!!! MY BOY GETS TO HUNT ANOTHER DAY, AND NOT ONCE DID HE GET HIT BY A TRAIN, IN FACT HE APPARENTLY LOVES THEM SO HA!!
Tumblr media
All and all, I will say Harvest moon was peek Striker. It's gonna be hard to ever top that, Norman Striker will forever be missed! But at the end of the day, I did enjoy seeing my favorite cowboy again, and there's apparently some more lore behind him as well that we'll hopefully get to see in the later seasons. I'm just glad I can easily sleep tonight knowing that he wasn't just killed off in the second episode we get him in! 🙏
So it was a good time all around! Especially watching it with my favorite person 💕

Monthly likes/dislikes
❣️ The Eclipse - no comment. it’s phenomenal. F & K are delivering and I didn’t expect anything less lol. They really made the right call casting them for this because their chemistry is 🔥🔥🔥 The characters are nuanced, the progression and the pacing are on point and I’m super curious to find out more about Ayan and his uncle. Also neolouis are intriguing and I’m loving neo in this role! So excited!!! 11/10.
👎🏻 Coffee Melody - I don’t wanna say I had high expectations for this but I was excited and the first 2ish episodes were actually pretty good - but then it went downhill and by this point it’s just bad. The pacing is off, it’s slow, boring and repetitive. Like if some random dude breathing near Plengrak is all it takes for DuanYi to have the emotional breakdown of his life then maybe yall should call it quits for good lmao. It’s been like this for 7 episodes now. I’m tired. I’m gonna sit through the last few episodes but I wish it would go by faster. 2/10.

Hermitage - Epilogue
Author: Nishioka Maiko (with Akira)
Characters: Mika, Shu
Translator: Mika Enstars
"Goodness… You create the best with the best materials. In order to feel joy as an artist, you mustn’t give in to fear."
Season: Winter
Location: Starmony Dorms Common Room
Tumblr media
Mika: Ouch!?
Uu… I pricked my finger real badly~…
I don’t usually make these kinda mistakes… Guess I really am jus’ nervous I’m gonna mess up with this expensive fabric…
Shu: Kagehira? Ahh, just in time. I went to your room, but you weren’t there.
…Hm? What exactly are you up to?
Mika: Ah, Oshi-san! I’m sewin’ right now.
Shu: Those look like some very small clothes there. Could it perhaps be for—
Mika: Yup! They’re for the doll that ya gave me as a souvenir, Oshi-san.
Shu: I see. Their clothes had actually caught my attention too. The clothes had begun to deteriorate after so long.
Mika: Mhm! Their little body’s still super pretty, but doesn’t it just make their worsenin’ clothes stand out even more? So I thought to give ‘em some new pretty clothes!
But, I ended up buyin’ real expensive fabric in my excitement, and now I’m too nervous to get any work done at all.
Shu: Goodness… You create the best with the best materials. In order to feel joy as an artist, you mustn’t give in to fear.
Mika: I know, but… I can’t help it~!
But Oshi-san, why were ya lookin’ for me? Do ya need me to do somethin’?
Shu: Right. I thought to give this to you. This is for you.
Mika: Eh? Is this western-style doll clothes?
Shu: I told you earlier that I’d noticed her clothes as well. I made them during a gap in my schedule.
I didn’t expect you to have the same idea, though… Well, it doesn’t matter how many clothes she has. Changing her clothes will give her a good change of pace.
Mika: Uwah! Oshi-san, thank ya so much! I’m sure the dollie will love ‘em as well~♪
Tumblr media
Mika: ! Oh, I know!
Since ya put so much effort into makin’ this, Oshi-san, how ‘bout I change her into her new clothes and we can all have lunch together in the courtyard?
The weather’s great today. I’m sure it’ll be real nice~!
Shu: Quite the sudden plan, isn’t it?
Mika: Ahaha, it’s fine! Since ya came back, we’ve been doin’ nothin’ but traning, Oshi-san.
Shu: I suppose you’re right. Since we gave it our all working on our new song, I don’t mind relaxing for a bit.
Mika: Ah, Mado-nee should join us too, then~! It’s been so long!
I’m sure everyone will be happy to enjoy a delicious lunch in the warm sunshine together! ♪

Turbo Tails & The Chosen One Prophecy (More specifically how to fix it)
The Prophecy & It’s Problems
(I’m gonna be breaking this up into sections cause its gonna be a lot)
Tumblr media
The chosen one prophecy has always been a contentious subject in the the Archie sonic community. Some people like the prophecy while other people hate it with a burning passion.
Me personally I like cause it gives Tails (My favorite character) some time to shine and show off that he is more than a sidekick for sonic.
But let’s get into what the Prophecy actually says.
Tumblr media
Pretty simple right a chosen one will walk among regular Mobians and realign the chaos emeralds for something called the great harmony.
Well here’s where it gets complicated when the great harmony happens no harmony really happens the chaos emeralds just become 7 instead of millions.
If anything things get worse after the great harmony happens.
What Harmony? (THE PLACEMENT)
Some examples
Fiona betrays the Freedom Fighters
Knothole gets blown up
Tails and Sonic get into a actual fight
The Echidnas and Saffron get sent to Turbohell
There is an attempted coup d'é·tat from the Prowers
Sally gets robotized
The Universe is reset multiple times, one resulting in many characters getting erased from existence
Mammoth Mogul and Naugus get out of Jail
This is only a little too.
Looking it all this dosen’t seem that harmonious
Note:I know some of this is from Ken Penders lawsuit but I’m just looking at what happened in the comic not in real life.
Now I’m not saying let everything be dandelions and sunshine after cause that be boring but it’s placement in the comic is weird considering this feels like a end of the comic event.
If you haven’t realized it yet one of the many problems is the placement of this event.
Another problem I’m going to be talking about in the next section is the people involved.
Why are you here? (The People)
Tumblr media
The people involved with it are Sonic,Eggman,Shadow,Tails,Tommy, and Adam.
Now look at that roster and tell any of them other than tails are necessary for this event.
Sonic sure because Tails is his little brother and he should be there to see how amazing his little bro is.
But Eggman,Adam,Tommy, and Shadow are not necessary.
You know who is actually necessary
Mogul (The Mammoth that was set up as Tails’s ultimate villain)
Athair (The Echidna who told us about the prophecy)
The Ancient Walkers (The dinosaurs who made the prophecy)
Merlin (The Fox who should have been training Tails for the prophecy but I’ll talk about him in a different post)
The Freedom Fighters (The people who raised Tails and would not have let him be kidnapped by Jules of all people)
But none of these people are here cause we have to see Super Sonic even though the Enerjak arc is not too far off
Note:The Great Harmony is issue 169 while the Enerjak arc is issue 184
The final and in my opinion biggest problem is the Execution
All That Build Up For What? (The Execution)
Tumblr media
Dear god does the execution of the Great Harmony suck ass. (Excuse my language)
I’m sorry but the event that every ancient being has hyping up for more than 100 chapters amounts to opening a portal and putting emeralds in the silent zone.
I’m sorry but that sucks.
Where the pizzaz,the excitement,the pacing.
Then after all of that were meant to feel sorry for character that nobody cared about dying.
Now that we’ve covered all we can move onto the next part of this post Turbo Tails.
Turbo Tails
Ahh Turbo Tails so underrated yet so deserving of the critiscms you get.
But I won’t be too harsh on you after all it’s not your fault it’s the writers.
Lets just go over what Turbo Tails is.
But wait that’s complicated too cause nobody knows what Turbo Tails is.
He not’s a super form cause Athair needed Merlin to awaken Tails as the chosen one to fight chaos knuckles.
Some more proof of this is that Merlin and Athair both believe that Turbo Tails is stronger than Super Sonic and Hyper Knuckles
Tumblr media
(Reminder they believed that Turbo Tails only lost because he was a clone so could Turbo Tails beat Chaos Knuckles)
Now it this was anybody else’s saying that Turbo Tails was stronger than them. I would have some disbelief but they are people who have direct lines of communication to the Ancient Walkers (The dinosaurs who are so good at manipulating the chaos force that they are viewed as gods) and practice manipulating the chaos force so I’m gonna believe them.
Heck Master Mogul was beating the crap out of Super Sonic and Hyper Knuckles however when Turbo Tails shows up they start winning.
Tumblr media
(Before Turbo Tails)
Tumblr media
(After Turbo Tails)
But complications arrive when during the Great Harmony when Turbo Tails is formed when the Chaos Emeralds all arrive at the tower.
So that’s another issue that needs to be fixed what is the Turbo Form and what is its Power.
More specifically why is the tails the only one that gets a Turbo Form, I mean the comic had no problem giving sonic a completely new form
I.E Ultra Sonic
Tumblr media
But enough of me ragging on Turbo Tails.
It is finally time for me to take this jumbled mess of a Prophecy and somewhat decent in my opinion your free to disagree with any of my ideas.
How To Fix It
(Remember from here on out this is my interpretation)
Lets start from the beginning and by beginning I mean with the Prophecy itself.
So first off when it says the Chosen One will bring Harmony its means to bring Harmony to the Chaos Force not to the entire world.
I bet you're asking why would the Chaos Force need Harmony. The reason is because most people go to the negative side of the Chaos Force not the positive side of it. Some Examples of These Type of People
Finitevius
Mammoth Mogul
Ixis Naugus
Perfect Chaos
The Echidna Brotherhood of Guardians (Only some members)
Enerjak
While the people who use the positive side of the Chaos Force are
Knuckles
Tails
Sonic
So yeah not a big list of positive chaos force users
Note:I didn't include Shadow because he uses both sides and Silver because he is from a future where the Chaos Force is already Harmonized
So when Tails harmonizes the chaos force what he is really doing is making more positive chaos users like Ray,Mighty, and the ancestor to Silver.
This fixes the placement issue as instead of being some big event that felt like it was placed in the wrong area because threats keep coming it makes the good side a little more balanced and allows threats to keep coming since the Chaos Force was balanced instead of the World getting Great Harmony that isn't actually there.
The next issue I'm gonna fix is gonna be the people involved because Tommy does not need to be here.
What's gonna happen instead of Adam kidnapping Tails and forcing him to call the emeralds Mogul is gonna kidnap him instead cause he actually knows that the Prophecy is a thing and wants the chaos energy to become an All Powerful God again.
(Reminder:Master Mogul only shows up when Mammoth Mogul gets an obscene amount of chaos energy like when he absorbed Enerjak's energy or Chaos Knuckles energy so I think a ton of chaos emeralds would work.)
Also it makes more sense for Mogul to kidnap him instead of Jules just suddenly being able to fight a freedom fighter all of a sudden.
Of course the Freedom Fighters aren't just gonna sit there and let Mogul just kidnap Tails so they go after him with the Chaotix as backup giving a reason why Mighty and Ray get Chaos Powers after this.
If it involves the chosen one you know Merlin, and Athair come along, maybe even have the Ancient Walkers come along cause all five of know that now is when the Prophecy is gonna happen.
So now you have all your players in the field
This fixes the problem of the people involved as we know have gotten Eggman,Tommy,Shadow, and Adam out of the story and the more key important people involved.
The battle is fought between the Freedom Fighters & Chaotix on one side and the Destructix,Naugus and Mogul on the other side.
Now for the match ups these being
Sergeant Simian vs Mighty,Bunnie
Flying Frog vs Amy,Fiona
Lightning Lynx vs Espio,Sally
Predator Hawk vs Saffron,Ray,Charmy
Crazy Naugus vs Julie su,Antoine
Mammoth Mogul vs Sonic,Knuckles,Vector,Nicole in a Mech
Rotor is providing air support from the Sky
You can include hints of Fiona being a traitor if you want me personally I don't like her as a traitor cause there was no hints, and no not appearing in a few issues dosen't mean she is a traitor.
As always the magic people are watching and waiting for the right moment.
Tails is strapped to some sort of ancient magical pedestal.
After some time the fights stop and everybody is just shocked at the amount of emeralds that appeared.
That's when the magical people step into the fray.
The Ancient Walkers free Tails.
Athair starts batting with Mogul.
The Freedom Fighters and the Chaotix that weren't fighting Mogul finish off their opponents.
They all reunite with Tails.
Merlin comes up and the conversation goes like this.
Merlin:You ready?
Tails:Did you watch get strapped to that thing and be forced to summon all the chaos emeralds?
Merlin:Not Important! <Turns Tails into Turbo Tails>
While Tails is transforming we get an explanation on what Turbo Tails is. Turbo Tail is basically a form that is between the Super Tails and Hyper Tails and is exclusively for Tails because he is the chosen one.
Eventually Mogul finishes off the people he was fighting and tries to run for the tons of emeralds to transform.Turbo Tails just beats him into the ground
After that Tails then forges all the millions of emeralds into a set of 7 using a chaos control. The chaos control release a blast however that hits Mighty,Ray,and a Civilian buried under some rubble. The Civilian is brought back to life from this and then runs away though he is seen as a silver hedgehog.
The Ancient Walkers then come down from wherever they were to thank Tails for creating Harmony among the chaos force and let him know there will still be many trials to face.
This in my opinion fixes the execution because let’s be honest what was so exciting about them shoving some emeralds in a portal.
I think fight is far more entertaining though maybe you liked the original comic and that is completely fine this is just my thought process
The End
I will elaborate some more another time as I am getting tired of writing this long ass post so thanks for reading this far and tell me what you think.

Read Night Terrors after seeing your post about it (decided to check out your masterlist bc ofc) and I think it’s taken a little of my soul with it (positive) 😭✋🏻
Genuinely one of THE BEST fantasy!aus I’ve ever read, and I’ve read a pretty decent amount. The pacing was perfect, the characters were all immaculately written; fight scenes were up there with some of the best ones I’ve read, and the BURN was EVERYTHING. Actually fucking insane how well written it was, I was so sad to finish it 😭😭
Literally if I could pay to read it for the first time again I would idc 🥹🥹
It was so, so good, I had to come scream about it and thank you for sharing bc wtf 😭😭
Much love <3

i am so SO excited you're playing skyward sword. skwsd is my absolute fav zelda game, and i love skysd link so much, he is my little guy, my dude, the love of my life. how are you liking it? how far are you?
I'm enjoying skyward sword immensely!! Admittedly, at first I was little hesitant to get super into the game pass the intro forest temple because of how decisive this game seems to be. People seemed to either hate or be neutral to this game but I decided to play it anyway cause I do love loz and it seemed fun!! But I'm genuinely happy that I decided to play it anyway despite what the louder part of the loz community has said cause I'm truly enjoying myself a bunch.
The npcs are super animated and I love how much personality they have, even the rude ones, it just makes me happy to see how animated and diverse in personality that skyloft is! I love the little remlits and just how damn cute they are <33 I legit refuse to hurt them or throw them off cliffs they're so so cute I adore them!! Another thing that I like is that the game gives you a bunch of incentive to help fellow npcs and it gives you great rewards for doing so. It makes me actually want to look around skyloft and talk to people which is even better cause it gives me more opportunities to learn of the npcs!
I also fucking LOVE the dowsing feature, it's genuinely so great and helps me out a bunch in wanting to find objects naturally and not wanting to resort to guides. It's just nice cause I can stay in the game and find stuff at my own pace :]
ANOTHER THING!! I love how fucking COLORFUL everything is!! I am playing the HD version on the switch so I know the graphics are improved but even still! The environments and dungeons are all so pretty to look at and I llooovveedddd the ancient cistern :DDD also going back to skyward sword made me remember how much I love classic dungeon crawlers and how much I missed them in botw/totk </333 the puzzles are also very fun and are well-designed so that's a massive plus.
And uh... I've made it to the part where sksw Zelda meets with sksw Link after he managed to get all of the goddesses flames and tells him the whole deal. I genuinely did not expect for that entire scene to hit me as hard as it did but I'm really happy I managed to avoid spoilers for this long cause holy shit, holy shit. That entire conversation is so expertly written and I love how it characterizes the both of them, how they were both forced to grow up out of desperation. sksw Zelda telling Link that she was so sorry that she used him and his devotion to her?? That she knew that he would chase after her no matter what and she couldn't stay or tell him anything because the world needed a hero? That she was so sorry but she had to do it because it wasn't just them anymore, they had grown up and now the responsibility of the world was on their shoulders.
The little line of her saying that she would've been so happy to just with him on Skyloft for all their days and that she holds those memories so dear to her is just an absolute gut punch. It's so expertly written cause I feel like it would've been so easy to make her into a selfish, cruel character thanks to this conversation, but it's so wonderfully done that I fully understand why she did it. It's a case of fate demanding the worse of choices into their hands and they can do absolutely nothing about it because for as much as they love each other- neither of them could sit back and watch the world suffer. Of course, what she did wasn't good but that's the point! She hates herself for having to lie and cause him pain, for dragging him into this because she could see no other to ever be her hero.
The tragic thing is that I very much doubt it was ever in sksw Zelda's control, I think that sksw Link was always meant to be the hero and fate has a heavy hand in this game. Her motivations sort of remind me of oot Zelda's actually, blaming herself for circumstances out of her control, having to constantly stay out of reach, and having to grow up so fast. Both of them had to be the lights on the horizon that directed their heroes, but always just out of reach because he's the hero and she's the goddess, it's always so much bigger than either of them.
I've only gotten this far yet but god, GOD! This isn't even half my thoughts about the entire deal but Zelda constantly going back and forth from referring to herself with Zelda and Hylia?? Ouch??? The sudden instability of your own image... of feeling like everything you've ever known has been predestined... do you hate yourself for your past actions in another life? Do you hate her-you- for this inevitable fate that you and your hero are doomed to for reasons that you'll always blame yourself for? Does she hate herself even more that Link did exactly that, run after her, prove Hylia-herself- right? Does she feel responsible for all the physical, emotional, and mentall pain that Link has grown through in order to become the hero that the world needs? For forcing him to grow up with her when all they ever wanted was to be together and be torn apart at every single point?
Do NOT get me started on sksw Link oh my ggogoodosso ad dwshdi HELP! He's so fucking TRAGIC and PAINFUL TO EVEN THINK ABOUT! How every single person he meets he always tells them that he's looking for someone and he always seems to be in a hurry because he can't be late, not again. The sheer desperation, the unapologetic love, the personality, the inherent sacrificial nature, always looking into the past while running after Zelda- HELP ME!!! But I think one of the most painful parts to me... is that I really don't think Link blames Zelda at all, for any of it. How painful of a thought is it that I think he'd be perfectly open splitting himself on the master sword for her and he wouldn't blame her on his last breath? Would she believe him? Would she believe that she singlehandedly orchestrated the death of her hero after putting him through so much pain?
Another thing is that he isolates himself, he helps people whenever he can but there's so much guilt and isolation swirling around in him as well as the crushing weight of his destiny that he just realized. One key theme I find in the game is that early on it's stated that Link is different, from everything from the knight's academy, to Impa telling him only he can do it, to Groose trying and failing to be that hero. It doesn't feel like a blessing, it feels like a destiny he could've never avoided and he was always going to be the hero who's blood was split to protect others. Link was always going to be the one who ends up alone while everyone else stays in the past, together but eternally waiting for him- or moreso, waiting for the hero that he's forced to become. It genuinely makes me so sad that he only had Fi for the longest time but even then... she's not much more than a guide, at least at first. I really don't feel like he'd be comfortable or even believe that Fi would understand, not when she's under even stricter instructions than him.
So yeah uhhhhhhhh you could say I'm enjoying the game a bunch!! I'm waiting to finish the game before talking a BUNCH about it on the dash and flooding my blog with sksw reblogs but I'm enjoying myself so much!! Also I just missed the triforce so so much- DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW MUCH I RESENTED THE SECRET STONES FOR TAKING MY BABYGIRL THE TRIFORCE AWAY??? I literally do not care about the secret stones, bring back the triforce I love her so so soooooo much and every single time I see any sort of triforce imagery I start crying and throwing up !
