The skills ranked by how nice they would be to cuddle
Logic: does not know how to un-tense even a little bit. His lack of physical stability makes him difficult to put any of your body weight onto. 2/10.
Encyclopedia: will probably read you something or just read out loud for his own enjoyment while you hold him. So his hands are gonna be occupied by holding the book— but he will always lean his head on yours if you put it on his shoulder, and that’s nice. His palms are a bit clammy anyway. 7/10.
Drama: I feel like he takes all the sheets for himself. And he can tell if you aren’t comfortable, and he’s gonna take it personally. Physically, his texture is lumpy but not unpleasant. 4.9/10
Rhetoric:will talk the whole time. If you listen to one sided political debates as ASMR, this may be a comfortable experience for you. Otherwise, I’m sorry he’s taking up a solid 89% of the bed. 3.4/10
Conceptualization: tries to get creative with it. Who gives a shit about spooning. Let’s invent “the tongs”. Definitely not boring to snuggle up with! 6.7/10 sometimes you don’t need to get experimental with it.
Visual calculus: knows exactly how to make the geometry of your bodies fit together in order to maximize comfort. The light coming off of him can lower down to an ambient dim. Very kissable lips that will give you a gentle smooch goodnight. Look, his eyes are half closed anyway, he wants to relax. Probably actually the best choice! 10/10.
Volition: matter of fact about it. Will stroke your hair until you fall asleep and is very valiant in making you cozy. However the moment you do start sleeping he slips away. 7.5/10 for cuddle experience itself but minus points for leaving : (
Inland empire: the starry bits can be fun to watch like one of those projector lights. Very skinny so not a lot to hold onto. Their heads weird shape means that you’ll have to get interesting with pillow formations but I think it’s worth the effort. 8/10
Empathy: knows exactly how you’re feeling but they feel obligated to listen to your innermost thoughts and opinions that really don’t matter that much, but they insist they want you to be SO comfortable. Dude, I don’t mind that you have sweaty hands. Keep them wrapped around me. 8.7/10
Esprit de corps: officer we’ve got a code 113, snuggle emergency, let me get up in your body gap and wear you like a blanket thank youuuu 9/10
Authority: he has to be big spoon or death. Does not give you the option to get up and turn the light off. No. Stay here and don’t you dare move. 5.2/10 it’s nice that he at least cares.
Suggestion: sure you can snuggle, but he convinces you to be in the position that he really wants to be in. The twisty bits are configured weird and when you figure out how to make it comfy you will not be able to adjust. 4/10
Endurance: will never be the first to get up. Almost turns it into a competition— look man, I’d love to lay with you all day, but I’ve got things to do. Super wide so he can be slept on like a bed though 6.1/10
Pain threshold: OW THERE ARE FUCKING SPIKES!!! Girl I love you but 0/10
Physical Instrument: too much of a jock to display any real tenderness. Holds you like he’s trying to suplex you horizontally. 5.2/10 for the muscle but he’s flexing the whole time.
Electro chemistry: how does it feel to be hugged by a dozen horny pythons? 9/10 if you’re looking to cuddlefuck 3.7/10 if not
Shivers: probably will not be able to fit on your futon. ??/10
Half light: if you can ignore the claws you won’t be able to ignore the teeth. Kicks and thrashes in her sleep. You can feel her heartbeat and it’s really fast. 4.2/10.
Hand/eye coordination: gives you a head rub and a back rub and a shoulder massage and a belly rub and . 9/10
Perception: will absolutely remark on ever sensation coming from you that she is experiencing. I’m glad I smell nice and I feel good and you can hear my breathing. She is also if a smoke machine was a person. 7/10
Reaction speed: speed is not an important component of cuddling. Can’t stop shifting around. Impossible to get comfortable with someone who wants to change positions every two minutes. If the remote falls off the couch, she will catch it. 2.8/10
Savoir Faire: six arms to hold you but he’s not gonna stop talking about his hustler bullshit. No head does make for some innovative cuddling positions though. 5.3/10
Interfacing: he would rather be holding a machine. If you wear anything with buttons or loose threads he’s gonna pull at them. He’s also for sure gonna talk about how ballpoint pens work. Maybe put on some how it’s made to watch in order to keep him entertained. 6.3/10
Composure: take composure’s portrait. Now turn it 90 degrees. That’s how composure cuddles. 1/10

For everyone’s entertainment (because according to my friend, it’s hilarious that I’ve fucked to nearly every gvf song) -
Greta Songs that I have done the deed to and how I rank them:
Age Of Machine, 10/10 - this one hit. I can’t even begin to explain it. If you haven’t put this song on your filthy playlist, it should be on there. Go do it.
The Archer, 10/10 - Gah damn. That’s all I can even say about this one.
The Barbarians, 10/10 - Obviously. I mean, come on. Good shit.
Frozen Light, 10/10 - That bass line? She’s sexy, so therefore… it fits a sexy environment.
Fate Of The Faithful, 9.5/10 - This one is down right NASTY. Like holy fuck I’d let this song put a baby in me. DAYUM when I tell y’all this one just hits different. Jesus christ.
Stardust Chords, 9/10 - I know what y’all are probably thinking… but it’s so good.
The Falling Sky, 9/10 - Was definitely adding to the intensity. In the right situation, this shit will get you railed.
Built By Nations, 9/10 - Once again… if the vibes are right, shit will get you railed. It’s heavenly, really.
The Weight Of Dreams, 9/10 - This shit was almost like an otherworldly experience. The guitar solo??? Yeah. Mhm. Orgasmic.
Meeting The Master, 8.5/10 - The change in intensity throughout this song is really what makes it so good to me.
Sacred The Thread, 8/10 - This shit… whew. The drums sell it. The rhythm is immaculate, tbh.
Brave New World, 8/10 - would have NEVER truly expected this one to hit as hard as it did. Good god.
My Way Soon, 8/10 - This one is solid. If it played again while I was doing it, I wouldn’t be mad at all.
Watching Over, 7.5/10 - I can’t say it let me down. It didn’t. It doesn’t always fit the vibes, though.
Lover, Leaver (Taker, Believer), 7/10 - Again, could absolutely dig it in the right situation, otherwise I would deem it a little much.
The Indigo Streak, 6.5/10 - While the solo is sooo fuckinggg sexy, the song overall would not be my first choice, but I don’t dislike it, either.
Safari Song, 6.5/10 - this one was pretty fun after you get beyond Josh’s scream at the beginning 💀
Age Of Man, 6.5/10 - This one would genuinely be sooo much higher on the list, if it didn’t make me so damn emotional.
The Cold Wind, 6/10 - this one’s crazy but… on the occasion I like it.
Light My Love, 6/10 - Unless you’re trying to be all sweet and sappy, I’d stay away from this one… but it was lovely. I won’t lie. I liked it.
Trip The Light Fantastic, 5.5/10 - I loved it and also felt weird about it all at once???
Caravel, 5/10 - I… As sexy as the bass line is, for some reason it just didn’t quite scratch the itch in my brain all the way.
Talk On The Street, 5/10 - Before actually fucking to it, I would have said, “hell yeah, I bet this one would be great!” But it’s just mid.
Heat Above, 5/10 - So sweet… but i’d rather not have flashbacks to my greta show and suddenly be on the verge of tears.
Highway Tune, 4.5/10 - I tried it simply because Jake said it was in a sex scene…
Tears Of Rain, 4/10 - Lowkey… could have put this higher, but also I have to mentally prepare for this song or I will cry. Sooo… idk.
Broken Bells, 3/10 - Great if you like choking on sobs while having sex.
Flower Power 2/10 - This one played on accident… And i did lay there contemplating leaning over and skipping it.
You’re The One, 1/10 - I just… I can’t. It’s TOO sweet, like in a little highschool crush kind of way.
Farewell For Now, 0/10 - This one couldn’t have played at a worse time and I hated every second of it. Love the song, but not for THAT.

Ninjago Ship Thoughts
First and foremost I’m gonna tell you my head-canons for the ninjas sexualities since it’s probably gonna affect my thoughts on the ships.
Cole - Gay - the entire “dad I’m a ninja” is so fucking queercoded so that’s my reasoning.
Kai - Bi - this man primarily flirts with women but he gives strong bisexual energy and I stand by that.
Zane - Pan - I don’t feel like Zane has a strong enough grasp on gender for it to affect who he dates.
Jay - Omni - I feel like he has a preference for women but I feel in my soul that he’s at least had a crush on a guy before.
Nya - Bi - I don’t know if she’s ever had a crush on a girl but a girl has definitely had a crush on her and she would not be opposed to dating a girl.
Pixal - Pan - I feel like she has a better grasp of gender than Zane but gender doesn’t affect who she likes.
All other characters are up in the air for me. I lean towards seeing lloyd as aroace but I’m not certain. Anyway I’m with my thoughts. (These are in no particular order)
(Jaya) Jay/Nya - let’s start with a canon ship! I like how this relationship is portrayed in later seasons and they have some cute moments earlier in the series, but I definitely like there relationship post Nadakhan the best (I’ve butchered the genies name I know it) Jaya is sweet and I’m happy that Nya was given strong characterizations outside of her relationship with men overall I’d say this is a solid 8/10.
(Pixane) - Zane/Pixal - I love this ship so much, she has half his fucking heart and there both so great. Zane and Pixar are both fully independent who love each other and there so cute. I think one appeal of this ship for me is that I can see the both as romantic or platonic partners because they both mean so much to the other. Anyway love this ship 9.6/10
(Kailor) - Kai/Skylor - I love Skylor she’s super cool but this pair really only interacts once and awhile to briefly flirt before they just go there separate ways. Obviously both of them are busy so it makes sense that they don’t get a lot of time together. Kai definitely had a crush on Skylor and I think Skylor reciprocated those feelings. There cut and interesting but don’t have as much development as they need for me to be compelled to be invested. Solid 6.5/10.
(Llorumi) - Lloyd/Harumi - these two have a fascinating dynamic that I think is really fun to watch but I cannot see them as romantic partners. I know some people see them as siblings and I really don’t see them that way. And again there really interesting as a duo and while I want the pair to heal and improve there relationship I don’t really want them to date. Overall 5/10 cool duo don’t see them as romantic.
(Lloykita) - Lloyd/Akita - It’s pretty cute, I love Akita so I do hope we see her again. There relationship feels like a summer relationship they have this brief sweet period of time together and they leave on good terms unsure if they’ll ever meet again or if the other will still have feelings if they do meet again. I also really like the idea of these to being together in a queer platonic way. It’s really cute and I love both of the characters individually so it’s a pretty solid ship in my opinion. 8/10 it’s sweet.
(Conia) - Cole/Vania - it feels like a lesbian and a gay man being best friends. I love these two I think there great friends and could even see them being platonic partners but like I don’t see them doing more than that. Solid 5/10 cool pair don’t see it as romantic.
(Lava) - Cole/Kai - There so cool and I think this ship is really fun. I think that these two are both really great characters who mesh well I can totally see them dating and think it’s a really cute ship. These two are bonding over there weird ass family lives and crippling self doubt! These two are a cute pair 9/10
(Bruise) - Jay/Cole - these two are so silly and honestly this is a cute ship. I think Cole was definetley involved in Jays realization that he wasn’t straight. I think this is a cute ship but not one I have super strong feelings on 7/10
(Mudshock) - Jay/Cole/Nya - the best solution for a love triangle is polyamory. That said I wasn’t a big fan of the love triangle but in Ninjago since Cole didn’t actually seem interested in Nya, and Nya only was interested in Cole cause a matchmaking system said so. These three are definitely great friends who joke about the love triangle and hang out but I don’t know that it’s my favorite ship. 6.7/10 Cute but not great.
(Polyninja) - Jay/Cole/Kai/Zane - I think this is probably one of the greatest things I have ever seen. All of these characters are so close and care for each other so much. Together they can help each other grow and thrive. It’s really an awesome ship solid 10/10
There are lots of other ships I will talk about but I’m supposed to be doing my summer class final so I’ve gotta go try to be responsible. Anyway have a good day/night I love seeing comments so say hi if you’d like to :D

Rating class 1bs hero costumes!
(Also sorry about some of the images being kinda blurry my phone makes every picture I screenshot or download drop quality rip)
Awase/Sen
Tumblr media
Awase - 4/10 - not only is the color scheme boring but a lot of it doesn't make sense to me and overall just kinda looks bad in my opinion
Sen - 7/10 - I like the spirals all over and the colors are good but the spiral around his neck makes his neck look long asf also it annoys me that his under shirt is only spiraled at the top and bottom but not the middle
Kamakiri/Kuroiro
Tumblr media
Kamakiri - 9/10 - the hella dark green looks a little off in my opinion and the shoes are weird but overall I like it.
Kuroiro - 8/10 - again... weird ass shoes. It fits him and his quirk really well but it feels like its missing something yk
Kendo/kodai
Tumblr media
Kendo - 8/10 I really like her costume and it fits her and her quirk well but I dont like the shoes (it looks like she doesn't have socks on)
Kodai - 10/10 by far one of my favorites its simpile yet it looks nice :>
Komori/Shiozaki
Tumblr media
Komori - 9/10 I love it so much but the shoes being pink annoys me so much also the spray bottles look off but I cant tell why
Shiozaki - 8/10 she looks really nice and her costume fits her really well but its kinda bland
Shishida/shoda
Tumblr media
Shishida - 5/10 really boring and I dont get the blue thing around his neck but its nice i guess
Shoda - 3/10 the only thing about this costume that I like is the eye piece and tracker thing on his gloves the rest is terrible
Pony/Tsubaraba
Tumblr media
Pony - 8/10 theres little bits and pieces of the costume that bothers me but overall its a pretty solid costume.
Tsubaraba - 6/10 i fucking hate the shoes and knee pads on this dude. Plus the color scheme is a bit boring and it looks more like casual attire than a hero costume
Tetsutetsu/tokage
Tumblr media
Tetsutetsu - 8/10 its all good but theres a bunch of little details that annoys me like the big red circle on his chest and the little metal rings in his pants and stuff like that
Tokage - 7/10 her costume is kinda boring but I can understand why. Also I dont really like the rings around her wrists mostly because of the color.
Manga/honenuki
Tumblr media
Manga - 5/10 its very creative and I like the concept with the ink bottles and such but it looks weird and a lot of it isnt practical. I just think it could have been done better ykyk
Honenuki - 6/10 it looks ok but it just looks like a rip off of seros or iidas yk? That and I dont think it fits his charachter that well.
Bondo/monoma
Tumblr media
Bondo - 4/10 he looks like a mustard bottle... I know he was going for a bottle of glue but this is honestly terrible ngl.
Monoma - 10/10 he looks classy asf, it fits his character well and I like the overall fit. Also im only now noticing this but he has 2 belts on...
Reiko/rin
Tumblr media
Reiko - 9/10 I really love her costume but the big fluffy area around her neck looks like it would be annoying
Rin - 10/10 - by far my favorite hero costume (i am extremely bias) i like the colors and its inspiration <3 bro looks majestic <3 <3 <3

I am going to watch all of the hunger games
Before the first movie:
I kinda know the plot but not really, girl gets chosen to fight weird tradition thing by a pink drag queen, older sister is like “fuck no” and some other shit happens.
My expectations for the rating: 7/10, really good but only the first movie so not amazing.
During first movie:
Why is this weird posh British (I think) person in pink drag?? Beauty full drag tho
It's not drag??
I didn't know Josh Hutcherson was in it T-T
Why is the solution to war to send a bunch of teenagers to fight to the death?? Instead of just resolving the issue like adults and talking.
The apartment Katniss is staying in is ugly as fuck.
Haymitch is kinda hot.
KATNISS DONT MESS WITH THE FUCKING BEES
Josh Hutcherson is also a bad actor..
I love Rue so much I just want to adopt her
NO RUE WTF
Why would they add two victors?? That's just dumb as fuck, it ruins the whole point of the games.
After the first movie:
I hated this. (/pos)
I Loved it but hated it cuz of Rue.
8/10 Better then I expected for a first movie.
Before catching fire:
I have no idea at all what this one is about sooo
During catching fire:
ooooo Kathrine? Kathleen? KATNISS (I forgot her name) has PTSD
Who tf is named *snow*???
NO MAGS
MAGS IS GONNA DIE AINT SHE
SHE DIDDDDD
Johanna X Katniss 4 life
After catching fire:
AMAZING DKDNDKD
THE GOVERNMENT CORRUPTION AND THE UPRISING AND JUST ARGHHH (/pos)
9/10, 1 point off because I really liked Mags and also cliffhanger
before Mockingjay part 1:
I have no idea what will happen other then a continuation of the last movie
during mockingjay part 1:
JOSH IS DEAD HAHA
NO WRONG DUDEEE
ITS THE SONGGGG GUYSSSS
after mockingjay part 1:
Pretty good, I didn’t peticularly like it though. It was kinda bland.
7/10 still pretty good but nothing really happened
Before Mockingjay part 2:
I really hope this one is better then the last but yk
during mockingjay part 2:
KATNISS IS DEAD??
NEVERMINDSD
KATNISS IS DEAD??? (Again)
NEVERMINDSD (Again)
team Finnick for life, screw Peeta and Gale
FINNICK DIED
NOOO PRIMMM
WHAT THE FUCK PRIMROSEEEE
THEY CANT KEEP DOING THIS TOO MEEEE
After mockingjay part 2:
Amazing movie oml much better than part 1
PRIMMMM
8/10, it was hard to follow and keep focus on but it was a really good film, 1 point taken off for Prim dying, that was just unnessecary.
overall:
8/10, amazing franchise but mockingjay part one really dragged down its rating.
great movies, very hard to stay focused on. I had to be doing something else while watching or else I would lose interest.
before snakebirds and songs:
I think it’ll be good
I know it’s a prequel
During snakebirds and songs:
WHO is this Wish.com Draco malfoy??
Holy shit Lucy grey…
HOLY SHIT LUCY GREY!!
Holy shit Lucy grey’s voice..
HOLY SHIT LUCY GREY’S GUITAR
Turns out I have a thing for southern accents.
after the ballad of songbirds and snakes:
OH MY GOD
I just, it’s amazing.
the powerful message underlying in it, everything about it.
I started tearing up in the theatre and I am going to sob into my pillow once I am done writing this. (/pos)
The fact that, that is happening in real life right now. The villain of a fiction story is happening right now in front of us. Just hurts so much.
And that there will be people who watched that movie and walked out of it all happy, as if nothing like that is happening in our world.
this movie made me better, and the direction was amazing.
ranking:
10/10, I don’t think I’ve ever given a movie a solid 10/10 before but this movie deserves it.
will/would I read the books?
probably, I think the movies were great and if the movies were a good representation of the books then I believe the books will be really good

Historian's Perspective on Vulcan Time Zones
This was supposed to be a quick response to something on a Discord. As you can see it turned into 750 words on the history of Earth time measurement, time zones, and my opinion of how and why Vulcans would use time zones. If you're into Vulcan vs Human cultural minutia, enjoy diving down this rabbit hole with me!
Tumblr media
Vulcans, with their canon innate sense of time, would in fact still have time zones - but they wouldn’t use them the way we do today.
Here on Earth, time zones were a secondary effect of trains. Before trains, people had a lot of different means of telling time, but they mostly revolved around dawn and dusk. You can still see that today in Jewish and Muslim timekeeping. We’re in the month of Ramadan right now. Fasting is from LOCAL dawn to local dusk, not the time of those events in Mecca. Shabbat starts at local dusk on Friday night. The whole idea of tying human time to precise minutes would be nonsensical for pretty much everyone living before the industrial revolution.
Hours also used to be variable in length, based around good old dawn and dusk. So for the Romans the “first hour” was literally the first hour after dawn. They divided the daylight into 12 hours (because Sumerian math is persistent AF). During summer, one “hour” was about 75 modern minutes long, while during winter, one hour was 45 minutes long. An hour was a division of daylight, not a collection of minutes.
Up until the industrial revolution this was fine. If you needed precise timing for a chemical reaction there were surprisingly accurate measuring devices, but those weren’t applied to everyday life.
Christian church bells and Muslim Adhan calls to prayer followed the dawn to dusk modified hour system to let people know what time it was. In Christian literature, you find a ton of references to different churches hourly bells tolling for a solid 3-5 minutes back to back.
It was part of the rhythm of the day. Many church clocks didn’t even have minute hands, because yo didn’t need them. In daily life, you honestly didn’t need to know anything more precise than “half” or maybe “quarter” past a specific hour.
Time zones as we know them were literally invented by train companies. It was the only way to ensure the trains ran on time. You can find tons of contemporary writing about how “two of the clock” could mean damn near anything. If you’re trying to get meat butchered this morning in Chicago to New York city on quickly melting slabs of ice so it’ll arrive in time to be taken to shops and sold before it spoils, you really need your trains to run on a dependable schedule.
So I say:
1) Vulcans would have time zones because they are the most logical means of scheduling long distance transportation and distribution.
2) Local time has little to do with time zones. Vulcans in canon have an innate sense of time in a way we humans do not, so really, the point of time zones is just ensuring transportation and distribution networks are efficient.
3) Nimoy infused a lot of Judaism into the lore of Vulcans. As such I think their innate time sense would also be tied to a dawn-to-dusk schedule. (The modern idea of starting a new “day” in the middle of a late night sleep cycle is very weird and totally ahistorical.)  Therefore Local time is still linked to dawn and dusk. It’s also useful to know what time dawn and dusk are for people halfway around the world. That way you can efficiently schedule meetings with them at mutually convenient times. Once more, we come back to time zones.
If you want a real world example of how No Time Zones fucks you up, look at China. There is officially One Time Zone in all of China, even though geographically it would be cut into 9 if you followed the same lines everyone else uses. That means a normal meeting at 10 am for someone in Bejing is at what we would consider 1 am at the furthest point west. But 1 am is legally “10 am” for them. If you don’t have to deal with Bejing on the regular, then the clock numbers have zero correlation with the way people in those places actually live their lives.
I suspect what a lot of people really object to is daylight savings time.
Vulcans who use local dawn and dusk to define their days would find this equally nonsensical.
Now if you want to get weird with it, you could make all VSA starships use ShiKhar Central Time, regardless of where the crew is from.

DOCTOR WHO TOP 10 - 1st Doctor
So, I threatened to do this a while ago, and I'm finally ready. This is my first top 10 in a series of Doctor Who top 10s.
Expanded universe wil be included, always. Let's go.
10. A Big Hand for the Doctor
Tumblr media
Out of the 11 Doctors, 11 stories anthology, this might be my favourite one? Although a few of the others are great as well.
It's just so... weird. I mean, all of those short stories are likely written by people with little to no knowledge of eu. So Colfer (who I am predisposed to like, because I loved Artemis Fowl as a kid) isn't tied to... I dunno, Quinnis? Operation Proteus? He's probably never even heard of them. So he creates a glimpse of a whole new NewWho-esque era that takes place before Totter's Lane. One that (unlike the one presented in Fugitive of the Judoon) seems actually fun and interesting.
The 1st Doctor had a cybernetic arm for all of his episodes. Why? Because why the fuck not.
9. The Savages
Tumblr media
Whenever some weird incel on the internet says "Doctor Who was never about politics!", the correct answer to that is "Shut the fuck up and go watch The Savages." Or it would be, if any of it still existed.
Don't get me wrong - William Hartnell's Doctor Who era was very political. Mostly with "Nazis bad" and "cold war bad", which are both solid takes. But this serial has balls.
It has no monsters, it's just a parable about South Africa. I don't know, I just think it's really cool for this children's sci-fi show in mid-1960s to go "Yeah, fuck apartheid!"
8. The Edge of Destruction
Tumblr media
I haven't seen this one for years but from what I remember and what I know about it, I like it a lot. It's just this weird filler, except it's not at all, because it's an integral part of each character's arc. It has a profound weirdness about it which I adore.
It's Doctor Who, as originally intended.
7. Home Truths
Tumblr media
I listened to this one recently for the first time and - wow. Just wow. It's just dripping with atmosphere. I love it a lot and need to listen to the rest of that trilogy now.
6. Dalek Invasion of Earth
Tumblr media
It's the one where the Daleks... actually become the Daleks. From opressors on a futuristic planet, bound to a single city, to galactic conquerors. Iconic, and for very good reasons.
5. Journey Out of Terror
Tumblr media
Simon Guerrier is just fucking excelent at writing the 1st Doctor, Ian, and Barbara. There's no way around it, this short story is properly brilliant and you should read it if you haven't done so yet.
4. The Daleks' Master Plan
Tumblr media
I love the madness of the Master Plan. It's a lot bigger than manageable. It's ambitious and epic and I adore it to bits. It has the Monk! Huge empires! Jumping through time! Cold war parallels! A Christmas special! There's nothing like it. Hopefully more of it returns to the archives one day.
3. The Aztecs
Tumblr media
The Aztecs is one of the purest Doctor Who experiences ever. It's really funny, but also quite dark. It has action and adventure, yet stops to think about history and culture, as well as the philosophy of time travel. It feels timeless.
2. The Keys of Marinus
Tumblr media
The Keys of Marinus is widely disliked and overall not a beloved story. Which is, of course, bullshit.
I love it so goddamn much. It's the first "Classic Who" serial that was genuinely FUN for me to watch. It made me fall in love with Doctor Who again, in the same way I feel in love the 11th Doctor's era. It's amazing and should be recognised as such.
1. The Time Meddler
Tumblr media
Alright, this is one the most beloved Hartnell era serials. And... for good reasons.
I love this story. It's clever and fun and inovative and just all around marvelous time. I can't help it, the Doctor x Monk rivalry just gets me. The setting is excellent. And it kinda invents the final bits of Doctor Who that weren't invented by Season 1.

Finally built all the 2006 combiners:
Botar - 11/10. This made me realize *why* Axonn was built so weird while Brutaka was a killer solo set; it's in order to meld them both fully into Botar. If you only have time/budget for a single combiner in your collection, this is the one you want to get. How small the pile of unused pieces is when your done is *shocking,* it might be the smallest ratio ever amongst combiners. I don't want to spoil it too much, but it's great.
Kardas - 3/10. Points mainly come from an interesting chest and wing build, but *all* the limbs feel wrong. Wrong to look at, purposeless and spindly vibes as you build it, squandered use of the piston pieces. I've table scrapped better arms and legs. The neck barely stays upright, and falls over from a stiff breeze. Loses points because of: how annoying it is to need to rebuild Vezon from the waist up and the Fenrakk skull; I lost a 3Long pin in the Kardas skull when rebuilding it into Fenrakk, truly bad design there; it doesn't conserve pieces in order to provide pins for Vezon to stand on, he's just hanging off the chain in the promo pictures even.
Whereas Brutaka and Axonn combine beautifully, Kardas needs another draft to incorporate V&F. I think an opportunity to make the axes the hands of the dragon exists, but serious work would need to be done on the legs and neck. Not worth your time, unless you're the kind of mad lad who wants to rebuild it better AND you have the budget to buy three titan sets, or already have some of them. (Tangentially, I have a vague memory of OnuaNut doing this on BZP with the Mata Nui titan set but I don't know how to find it again, anyone seen that thread?)
Lava Hawk - 9/10. Similar to Botar, I now get that the matoran looked That Way to accomodate this satisfying build. Also just a great looking bird. If your combiner budget isn't super high, this one is an easy second to Botar.
Dagger Spider - 7/10. Body build is neat, but another spider? After all that visorak stuff? C'mon man. The Matoran look That Way for this again. Solid little build, slap it together if you have the sets but you don't need to seek out another four legged spider, there's already a dozen of those.
Jovan - 5.5/10. It's... Nuparu but bristling with metal. Totally devoid of the blue or yellow from Hewkii and Hahli. Iunno. Maybe this'll be good for people who buy the Batman or evil Star Wars sets made of only black and grey. It's not doing anything for me. Neat use of Hewkii's chain but it is, truly, just another Inika build, if slightly wider. Bonus half point for staying upright, unlike Kardas. But it's also unsalvageable, unlike Kardas - I don't see a way to nullify the problems here. Skip this one, even if he's the only non-Takanuva Toa set to control an element that's not one of the main six.
Irnakk - 8.5/10. Honestly, this is as good as the Lava Hawk, but I'm docking half a point because you can't build it with just the sets, you technically need five extra pieces. Still looks *really* good without them, and the build is even fun unlike some on this list. Next to Zaktan, it does look like something that would fuck him up. Give it a whirl.
Protodax - 7.5/10. Bahahaha. This one was made for me specifically. It's goofy and silly AND it looks better than most of the 2005 rahi combiners. YMMV but I loved it. Good use of a piraka spine. The build isn't anything to write home about, but I looks like a blorbo, if a blorbo had three heads. Adding a half point purely because of the out-of-the-box design that may be the most unhinged *while-still-cohesive* build I've seen simultaneously. This is the anti-Jovan in a lot of ways. Look, just build it for me so you can have a good laugh as well, okay? Great.

You & Me - Rhys Montrose x Reader - Part 10
Tumblr media
Part 9 | Part 11
Summary: What happens when reader assassin is tasked with killing the possible future mayor of London; Rhys Montrose. Politician by day, Eat the Rich Killer by night. But he isn’t the only person wearing different masks.
Rating: Explicit
Warnings: Violence, murder, immoral sociopathic behaviour, mentions of alcoholism, drug abuse and neglect, (eventual) smut
Word count: 4.1k
A/N: (spoilers!) at the end.
Song: Power – Isak Danielson
You splashed cold water in your face, trying to rub some of the drowsiness from your eyes after the quick nap you’d taken. You turned off the faucet and grabbed some paper towels to dry your face. Sighing, you braced yourself on the bathroom sink, lifting your head to look at yourself in the mirror. The harsh lighting did nothing to accommodate the dark circles underneath your eyes.
You’ve been in the hospital for over 24 hours now. After you’d woken up that morning, the first thing you did was return to the ICU down the hallway. A nurse was already busily working around your sisters’ beds. Zoe was sitting up, looking surprisingly chipper. “Good morning, sis,” she greeted you in a sing-song voice.
Zoe was a true ray of sunshine, but you weren’t stupid. She was trying her absolute best to make the situation not seem as terrible as it was. Trying to lift herself up so you wouldn’t feel as bad. You hated to admit that it was working, feeling your own edginess lift at her smile.
Sadie had been a little short of breath during the night, which meant they hadn’t yet taken out the oxygen tubes from her nostrils. She was feeling better than yesterday though, in spite of everything she’d still slept a solid seven hours.
After breakfast, the same doctor from before had come in to discuss how Zoe and Sadie were stable and essentially well enough to be moved to the regular ward. You could rest a bit easier at the sound of that. It was good news. However, her next words made the slumbering anxiety you felt for facing reality, which you’d been stubbornly ignoring for a while now, immediately rise to the surface.
“If all goes well, we can release you both tomorrow afternoon.”
Tomorrow.
That single word being a gigantic slap in the face as well as a massive wake-up call. It really was back to reality. And that reality meant dealing with a powerful and likely very pissed off, rich shitbag who was coming after you. It was infuriating to admit but Rhys had been right. The press and camera footage of you two at the housefire would’ve probably made its way to Lockwood by now. It wouldn’t be difficult to find out who you were, having the address to link it to your family name. It meant he would also know of the existence of your sisters, that idea alone filling you with trepidation.
He could go after your mother, wherever the hell she was. You hadn’t heard anything on that front whatsoever. It was currently of no importance anyway. She’d find a way to survive, she always did. Unfortunately.
Lockwood going after her, it might seem like the perfect solution. But in all honesty, it made a weird possessive kind of animosity twist inside of you. You wanted to be the one to hurt her. Especially after what she’d put Zoe and Sadie through. To fucking tear her limb from bloody limb until she was begging you for the mercy to kill her.
No, she was yours to take. Not his.
Around noon they came in to move your sisters to the ward. Claire gave them both a kiss on their foreheads, waving them off as they disappeared through the ICU’s heavy double doors. Then she turned to you to give you a short hug, assuring you she would come by after her shift. You suggested to maybe have dinner together in the hospital’s restaurant later, which she happily agreed to.
That’s how you found yourself currently staring at your slightly sunken face, trying to freshen up a little. You’d taken a nap after the rigorous insisting of your sisters who claimed you looked like a corpse. Well, they weren’t wrong. You did look like shit. The moment some of your sisters’ friends had burst into the small twin room, you decided to give them some space. Their friends had been worried sick ever since they heard about what happened during yesterday’s early morning hours. Zoe’s good friend from Darcy College, Nadia, took one look at you and evidently couldn’t help but scold you in a strangely familiar way.
“Y/N, why don’t you go take a nap or something? We’ll look after them, don’t worry.”
Their friends had all looked your way, Zoe and Sadie trying but failing to hold in their laughter. “We’ve been saying that for over an hour.”
You shot them a pointed look before relenting and chuckling a little. “Fine, I will. You guys take it easy, yeah? Don’t cause too much disruption for the other patients.”
A chorus of yeses and duh’s followed you on your way out of the room. You’d simply shaken your head. Kids.
Heaving one final sigh, you pushed yourself off of the sink, grabbing your purse and phone before making your way downstairs to the hospital’s restaurant where you would meet Claire. When you arrived, she was already there. She’d claimed a small secluded table in the corner away from everyone else.
“Hey, you,” you announced, sitting down opposite of her.
Your arrival had made her look up, a smile finding its way onto her lips. “Hey, you,” she shot back. “How was your rest?”
“Restless.”
Claire hummed understandingly.
“They bloody kicked me out of the room,” you huffed, pretending to be anything else but amused.
“I can’t say I wouldn’t have done the same thing,” Claire laughed and you couldn’t help but join her.
She suggested to get something to eat for the both of you, already getting up. You took out a few quid, but she pushed your hand away. You raised your eyebrows but she just ignored you and walked off in the direction of the counter to order your food. Classic Claire.
You took the moment to scan the cosily furnished sitting-down area. It was quite busy, which made sense seeing as it was dinnertime. You amusedly observed a young family sitting closest to you, a man who had clearly just entered fatherhood trying desperately to hold his newborn correctly and to not drop the baby to the floor. There was also an older man, you’d guessed around fifty, sitting by himself, sipping a cup of coffee. He looked gloomy and you couldn’t help but wonder if that’s exactly what you looked like to a stranger right now, too.
You hadn’t lied to Claire. Your nap truly had been restless. You briefly reflected whether you could even call it a nap when all you had done was lay on a bed whilst staring at the ceiling for a few hours, your thoughts racing non-stop through your head.
The moment you’d woken up that morning, Rhys Montrose had been the first thing on your mind. Not Zoe or Sadie. No, it was the fucking serial killer on the loose whom everyone was hunting. You’d been extremely annoyed with yourself, wishing you could simply forget about his existence altogether. But that was impossible. You never should’ve accepted Lockwood’s job. Money had tempted you to do it and that made you undeniably even more annoyed. Now, the consequences of that decision meant you were facing two big problems. Rhys Montrose and Tom Lockwood.
The second one was presumably plotting his revenge right this second. When Lockwood would learn you no longer served his needs, you would become an immediate liability. You cleaned up all his other problems, so you knew what would happen to you once you became one in his eyes. Rhys may have joked about Lockwood never getting his own hands dirty, but that didn’t take away the fact that the man was as cold blooded as they come and only cared about one thing — himself.
The threat he posed to you wasn’t even the main reason your skin was crawling. It was the sheer nervousness for what he could possibly do to your innocent sisters. They were clueless as to who you really were, to what you truly did for a living. Lockwood exploiting them to get to you was currently the biggest reason for your concern.
Then there was Rhys. He proved to be much harder to predict. You didn’t think he would just let everything that happened between you go. It was never that easy.
You had been so utterly pissed at him when he mentioned Lockwood, even though a small part of you knew it wasn’t a complete absurd observation. Even so, it had reinstated the fortress around you, not wanting to permit him to see you in your vulnerable state because you weren’t sure whether he just cared about himself and had lied to you about everything, or not. You didn’t want it to have been a ploy or some game to him. Nevertheless, that’s what scared you most of all. You’d closed off your heart, using that anger and the suppressing fear you felt for your sisters as extra fuel to push him away. That reaction was almost second nature to you, always pushing people away who sought to enter your life and try to get to know you. The agonising look Rhys had given you before he left you alone in that alley had haunted you ever since.
Had that been real? Sincere? You still couldn’t pinpoint his true intentions with you. And that made you doubt. A part of you wanted to believe him, Rhys’ entire person being too enticing to simply ignore. It was frustrating beyond words. You barely even knew the man.
Yet, the easy way with which you could speak with him, could joke with him, and not least how you had effortlessly worked together to successfully get rid of Roald — all of that had satisfied some previously unknown yearning within you. To have someone by your side. To startingly realise you didn’t have to be alone anymore. That there could be, in spite of who you were, someone who may understand you — all of you.
“Why the long face?” Claire asked, shaking you out of your thoughts as she set down two trays with plates of your dinner and a bottle of water each. You glanced up at her, blinking. Why did she always have to be so damn perceptive. You could swear she’d been a psychiatrist in another life. Or just psychic in general. Or your poker face wasn’t as good as you gave it credit to be.
“I’d say you have every reason to be relieved and honestly a little optimistic at the prospect of Zo and Kittykat being released tomorrow. So,” she looked at you imploringly. “Spill.”
You frowned, picking up the plastic cutlery from the tray.
“Well, there is the issue of a certain house that is quite literally burned to a crisp. It’s inhospitable.”
Claire scoffed, which made you look up from where you were piercing a carrot with your fork.
“What?”
“Don’t pretend that is the thing bothering you. I know you, Y/N. You would have burned it down yourself if you’d gotten the chance. Please stop feeding me that nonsense and tell me what’s actually weighing on you. Maybe I can help.”
“Claire, they’ve lost everything. All of their belongings, their home—” you didn’t get to finish your retort, Claire quick to cut you off.
“Babe, who are you kidding? First of all, they didn’t lose everything. You’re sitting right here. Second, how much did they really own in the first place? Some clothes and a laptop? You’ve got enough money put aside to cover those expenses. And finally, their home? Home isn’t always a literal place, you know that.”
Claire’s non-tolerance for bullshit was normally something you admired in her. But now it proved to be exceptionally annoying as it was directed at you for a change.
You stared at each other for a minute, neither of you wanting to back down. In the end, you knew she had the upper hand. You caved in, dropping your fork on your plate.
“Fine.”
You couldn’t lie to yourself that you actually did feel the need to succumb and tell her about everything. Well, not everything. Telling the partial truth had always worked in the near decade you two had known each other. But telling her about the situation with Lockwood and, above all, Rhys… Where would you even begin? How many holes in your story did you have to jump around to avoid? Too many.
“That troubled look on your face doesn’t seem fine to me,” Claire commented wryly, taking a sip of water.
Oh, for fuck’s sake. You know what? What the hell. You were already losing your sanity over this, not being able to see a way out of it or a solution of any kind. And if you had to spill your guts to one person, it would be Claire. You might as well—
“I’m in trouble.”
“What kind of trouble?”
“Something came up with work, an unhappy client so to speak,” you cleared your throat. “Basically, they’re pissed off. And they’re not the kind of people you want on your bad side.”
“How bad can it be, though? You work in bloody consultancy,” Claire said, frowning.
Yes, your dummy job. The one you used as a front for your actual enterprise. You always figured that the consulting world was so unbelievably ambiguous that no one actually knew what the hell they did on a day to day. At least, that’s the idea you got. Which made it the perfect profession for you to use, ample in providing you with excuses for the strange work hours and the extensive travelling you did. And on top of that, it gave you an excuse to blame it all on a sturdy boss who expected too much from you. It worked marvellously, everyone indeed buying into your vague explanations on the consultancy business.
“You don’t want to know what type of people I have to deal with on a daily basis,” you said.
“I can imagine they’re something like ungrateful patients, and then some,” Claire quipped.
“Yeah, something like that.”
“But really, how bad can it be? I know you take your work seriously and all, but it’s not like these people know where you live, right?”
“And that’s where you’re wrong, unfortunately. You know I can’t disclose too much company sensitive information, but these people,” you paused, trying to buy yourself some time to figure out how you could sell this half-lie.
“They have reach and when they’re not happy about something they’ll do anything to get their way. My boss, he tried to assure me this won’t massively backfire on all of us, but in all honesty, there have been stories.”
“What kind of stories?” Claire asked, believing your every word.
You’ve said it before and you would say it again — the most convincing lies come from a place of truth.
“They go to the people directly, not through the professional channels, to demand what they want. I’m not exactly fearful for myself, but I don’t want strange men banging on my front door when the last thing my sisters need is more stress. They need safety. Which is why I can’t take any chances of bringing them to my place. I’ve spent the entire day debating where the hell I could take them that would be safe enough,” you finished, your shoulders dropping slightly now that you’ve finally spoken part of what has been weighing on you out loud.
“Has this truly been bothering you all day? Y/N, they can always stay with me. At least until you’ve found them a new place,” Claire suggested it like it was the most obvious thing in the world. “It’s bloody London though, I understand if it takes a minute.”
You knew she would suggest that, already having anticipated it, you were quick to cut in.
“I know you would. But these people,” you struggled a little. How on earth were you going to explain this to her without disclosing the whole ‘Tom fucking Lockwood wanting you dead’ situation?
“Like I said, they have reach. I’m not sure if they’d be safe with you, either. Because I would obviously stay over too, to take care of them. They could still locate me.”
Claire looked at you with furrowed brows, clearly deliberating whether you’d lost yourself in some trauma-slash-sleep deprived induced paranoia.
“Sweetheart, don’t you think that’s a bit of a stretch?” She asked gently, not wanting to give you the impression she thought you were perhaps losing it just the tiniest bit.
You rested your forearms on the table, leaning over your dinner, looking deadly serious. “Trust me, I know it sounds absolutely bonkers. I’m not paranoid or losing my sanity here. Sure, maybe nothing will happen, but on the off chance that it does,” you trailed off.
“I just wouldn’t be able to live with myself. My mother has always spectacularly failed at creating a safe environment for Zoe and Sadie to grow up in. I can’t take them in and potentially put them in danger. Not after everything they’ve been through these past 48 hours. Their entire life, really.”
Claire clearly still didn’t fully fathom the situation but she acquiesced at your heartfelt confession, understanding filling her.
“Okay, then what? Where could we take them that’s safe?”
A single name rushed to the forefront of your mind. No. No, absolutely not.
“What? What are you thinking?” Claire asked, unfortunately noticing the shift in your demeanour.
You sighed for what felt like the hundredth time that day. “It’s nothing.”
“Please,” she scoffed. “That wasn’t nothing. I could practically see an actual shudder ripple through you. There’s obviously more to what’s been on your mind.”
“I— I,” you stuttered. You couldn’t believe it.
“Huh, that’s certainly new. Who the fuck succeeded in reducing my girl to this mumbling mess?”
Rhys bloody Montrose. That’s who. Even when he wasn’t here, his continuous presence in your thoughts was unwelcomely felt. Why couldn’t you just forget about him?
Because you don’t really want to. His words from a few days ago coursed through you, painstakingly reminding you of a fact you’d rather dismiss.
Claire made an inquisitive noise, shaking you out of your Rhys trance. You might as well call it what it was. You leaned back in your chair, grabbing your fork to pick at your already forgotten dinner. Perhaps it was good to share this with Claire. Perhaps she could talk some sense into you.
“I met someone.”
She noticeable perked up at this.
“And so far, it’s been an utter disaster.”
“It doesn’t seem like a disaster to me. If I didn’t know you better, I’d say you were on the verge of blushing.” You shot her a look and she simply answered with a cheeky smile.
“I thought there might’ve been something there. Even though we haven’t known each other for very long. It felt like we did. This odd sense of familiarity with a stranger. It was weird, but it also felt right, you know?” You were essentially spilling all of your irrational thoughts and feelings now, Claire nodding in acknowledgement but otherwise patiently waiting for you to continue.
“We had a falling out yesterday, before you called me. He had driven me over to the house, but I was so angry at the situation, at everyone, really. And I basically took it all out on him.”
“Why?” Claire probed gently.
“Because I thought he had lied to me. That his caring wasn’t genuine.”
“And now you’re wondering if you’d misread the situation? If you’d let your anger cloud your judgment?”
That wasn’t it. Not exactly. You were scared that you hadn’t misread it. That the doubts that lingered from the start were accurate — that it hadn’t been real. That it was all too good to be true. You knew there was only one way of finding out for sure. But it would be a massive gamble to take that step back towards him.
“Something like that,” you replied.
Claire nodded again, more to herself than you.
“I can see in your eyes that this means a lot to you. That he means a lot to you, despite the fact you may not understand why. All I can say is, don’t give up on it just yet, because I have never seen you like this before — so vulnerable and affected,” Claire said.
You opened your mouth to respond but she interjected before you could utter a word.
“It’s not an accusation, Y/N. Being vulnerable and opening yourself up to someone can be beautiful and very much worth it.”
And frightening. Positively fucking terrifying.
Claire laughed at your expression, knowing how closed off a person you were. She damn well knew your stance on opening up to people. You’ve had the argument many times. And each time she kept encouraging you to follow her advice to let someone in.
“So, from what I gather, you’re very much in your feelings for this man, whoever he is. And now that you’ve left things a little shaky, you don’t feel like you can go to him for help. Because when you were talking about that safe space you wish for your sisters, you don’t want to admit to yourself that he could offer that, do you?”
Psychic. It was confirmed. You wanted to physically start knocking on the walls around you to see if they were truly still there. Since when had you become such an open book? How could Rhys have this effect on you? It could stop anytime.
There was no denying it when Claire had put it all neatly on the table in front of you. You chewed your lip nervously.
“I’m still not sure that he can,” you whispered, voicing your doubts.
“You will never find out the truth by doing nothing. Think of your sisters. What if this is the only way to keep them safe?”
Keeping them safe by making a deal with the devil. But what was that saying? The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
Claire had sufficiently helped out with having your nagging curiosity, and this magnetic pull you felt towards Rhys, take root and blossom. You couldn’t live with the uncertainty of not knowing whether it had been real or not. Whether that godforsaken connection you’d seemingly both felt was just some shared understanding of life and death, or if it ran deeper than that.
You quietly finished dinner, Claire leaving you to your thoughts. Luckily not prying on who this mystery chap was. You knew she desperately wanted to know but Claire could sense that you needed some space to make up your mind. Although she was quite sure that the decision was already predetermined. She’d never seen you like this before, and your nature to face anything and anyone head-on wasn’t going to stop you now.
After checking in on your sisters to make sure they were all good, you’d made it back to the same on-call room you’d used twice before. You sat down on the bed, looking through the dirty window to watch the city lights mimic a starry night sky in the distance. You knew what you were going to do. The inevitability of it hitting you.
If you need me, you know where to find me.
A nervous jitter went through you. You bit your lower lip, closing your eyes for a second. You reminded yourself of that pure conviction you’d felt early on that Rhys would not hurt you. And by that logic, he wouldn’t hurt your sisters either.
You glanced down at your phone in your hand, swiping up to open it and go to your list of contacts. Your thumb hovered hesitantly over his name. You swallowed, then squared your shoulders before irreversibly pressing the green call button.
Don’t pick up. Don’t pick up. Don’t pick—
Your manifesting thoughts were interrupted when you heard the tell-tale click of the phone being answered.
“Y/N,” Rhys spoke in a breathy voice, almost as if he couldn’t actually believe you’d called.
Well, that makes two of us.
You inhaled deeply, praying to every deity known to mankind that you weren’t about to make the biggest mistake of your life. Little did you know that Rhys had done the exact same thing when he’d let you go, having to trust you would eventually come back to him. Which you had. And now it was your turn to reimburse some of that trust in him.
“I need your help.”

A/N: I’ve had Isak’s song in my head for this story since the beginning and I’m so glad I’ve finally been able to give it a podium :) This story is all about power and control, the desire and need for it, as well as realising that the ultimate power lies perhaps in the secret of sharing it with that one person who makes you feel powerless.

Note
would you do that thing where you review/rate the op movies, if that's ok? :3c
ok NOW that I'm mostly done with the One Piece movies, it's finally time to start writing this monster of a review post. I'm gonna say sorry in advance for how long this post is gonna get.
Tumblr media
1) One Piece: The Movie -> 6/10
This movie is fine, not much to say about it. It's old enough that Sanji is not even in the crew, and it feels more like a longer than usual filler episode of the East Blue saga than anything else, but I found it very charming, it had some good gags and it smacked me upside the head with 90s anime nostalgia.
Tumblr media
2) Clockwork Island Adventure -> 6,5/10
Just like the first movie, it's fine, nothing extraordinary and it had some kinda weird plot choices, but most of the gags and crew interactions are solid enough to make the whole experience enjoyable. Would love to see Luffy throw bombs at his friends more often in the future.
Tumblr media
3) Chopper's Kingdom on the Island of Strange Animals -> 6/10
I know a lot of people hated this movie so I came into it expecting the worst, and instead it was a cute enough movie. Again, nothing special but all early movies suffer the curse of the One Piece world being still largely unknowable and having to make something up that makes sense within the context of this early stages. Chopper's characterization is Eh, but I think the movie was trying to see his very first interactions with the crew while still knowing little about him, and I can excuse it. I like most crew interactions and gags. This movie also features Sanji fighting a swordsman VS Zoro fighting a guy who uses kicks and I really loved it - what can I say, I'm biased, so sue me.
Tumblr media
4) Dead End Adventure -> 9/10
THIS ONE. This is one of best One Piece movies. You want a classic yet enticing seafaring adventure? You want all the good and fun aspects of the pre-timeskip crew? Do you want an interesting side character who kinda reminds you of All emo One Piece guys? Did you, just like me, miss when Nami and Robin used to be shit to children? THIS IS THE ONE. I don't wanna say much more to not ruin it for people who have yet to watch it, but I really missed when the crew had to find a way to work around fighting Logia type Devil Fruit users, and seeing it again sealed my absolute love for this movie.
Tumblr media
5) The Cursed Holy Sword -> 3/10
So this is another movie that I know a lot of the fanbase hates, but since the Chopper movie turned out to be okay, I wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt again. Instead, this movie just plainly sucks, and it's not because of the general plot, because of bad crew interactions, but because Zoro specifically is written like shit in here, and since the movie revolves around him, the movie is shit as well. My best way to resume this movie was "Zoro wouldn't fucking say that". Not only he drops the crew out of nowhere to follow a friend's shady request without questioning it, not only he fights Sanji and immediately wins despite their entire deal being that they're on the exact same level (also the fact that he breaks Sanji's arm got on my nerves massively), the thing that got on my nerves the most was honestly that the childhood friend was a new character and not like, some echo of Kuina, which emotionally would have made the movie have so much more sense for me.
This movie is written by a Zoro fan who doesn't get why Zoro is the great character that he is. Also the elements of mysticism in this movie are just damn weird for One Piece, but as I said for the Chopper movie, I can excuse it as it's still relatively early into the story and I can see why they thought magic would work as a plot element. It didn't.
(Still better than Stampede tho)
Tumblr media
6) Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island -> 10/10
This one is an insane and unsettling experience from start to finish. If you've seen it, you know what I'm talking about, if you haven't, go watch it now. I promise it's gonna be a wild fucking ride and that you're never gonna forget it for the rest of your life.
Tumblr media
7) One Piece The Movie: The Giant Mechanical Soldier of Karakuri Castle -> 7,5/10
Was this movie objectively bad? Yeah. Was this movie also objectively good? Yeah.
I'm gonna try to elaborate: this one is purely a comedy, with sparse elements from the previous movies taken and used for parody. The tits on the girls have the worst animation you've ever seen, but it works in favour of the comedy because, voluntarily or not, it seems to parody the One Piece anime itself. I swear the animation budget on this one was like 100 yen and the concept of hope. Despite all this, it works and it's funny as fuck. Zoro gets set on fire on this one. Also, apparently Chopper's VA was on maternity leave for this one and you can barely notice it.
8) Episode of Arabasta: The Desert Princess and the Pirates /
9) Episode of Chopper Plus: Bloom in Winter, Miracle Sakura -> ??/10
They are arc recap movies, an Alabasta arc recap and an AU version of the entire Drum arc set post-Water 7 respectively, and as such, I don't intend to watch them, so I'm skipping them ✌️ if I eventually decide to give them a try, I'll come back and add them to the post.
Tumblr media
10) One Piece Film: Strong World -> 8,5/10
A huge favourite of mine since I was a kid. This movie came out around the same time as when I read One Piece the first time and I remember loving it then and I'm happy to say I still love it as an adult. The outfits are amazing, the villains are amazing and the plot was damn good. Yes, this movie has Nami as the damsel in distress (and some really bad and gratuituous ass-tits shots of her, but nothing worse than say, the anime itself), but I really liked how it's handled and the spotlight on her character is well handled for the most. It's a "crew as family" movie first and foremost, and you can really tell Oda himself took part writing this one.
12) One Piece Film: Z -> ??/10
So I'm gonna be honest here, I haven't watched this one either and I don't intend to because Nami gets aged down to a child as a major plot point and I don't trust whoever wrote it to handle it normally. If anyone gives me a good motivation to watch it I will, but until then, I refuse to.
Tumblr media
13) One Piece Film: Gold -> 8/10
When my girlfriend and I started watching the movies again, we were really skeptical about all post-timeskip movies, and I'm glad to say Gold proved us wrong. I love this damn movie: it's a really good experience for long time fans, but it can also be shared with friends who barely know/never got into the show. The villain is so damn compelling, and the original character (Nami's blatant ex-girlfriend) is fun and interesting.
What else can I say? It's a Las Vegas heist movie. It's flashy, it's fun, all the outfits are fucking amazing, and most importantly, Zoro is the damsel in distress in this one. I can't suggest it enough to people.
(Also Sabo makes a cameo in here by using a Firefist, and both of us for a solid second thought Ace was gonna descend from the heavens to fight instead of the most logical answer, because we're both idiots.)
Tumblr media
14) One Piece: Stampede -> 1,5/10
Fuck this movie and fuck whoever liked it. This is nothing but fanservice garbage and I hope whoever wrote it is in jail. It exists as proof that good animation and good voice acting and a solid cast cannot make a good movie by themselves. The main villain is the most boring, uninteresting piece of trash in the universe. This movie was made just to animate cool fights for fanservice, and it didn't do even that well. I cannot believe they wasted Luffy's Gear 4: Snakeman like that, I cannot forgive wasting my favourite Luffy fight form for a moment and THEN decide to solve the movie final fight with a fucking genkidama. Fuck this movie. Didn't even have the guts to have a proper Hancock fight scene.
The only reason is gets a little more than a 1 as a rating is because having so many damn characters in the movie appear at random accidentally turned it into a fucking comedy. Towards the end I was half-ready for either Gol D. Roger's corpse or Goku to show up. Maybe even Naruto or the Jump Force. Kurapika was in this one to me.
Tumblr media
15) One Piece Film: Red -> 7,5/10
We conclude with a good one, and a musical on top of it all. I really liked this movie, I think Uta was a well written new character and I can't deny I cried a bit towards the end of it. This movie has still a lot of fanservice, but in my opinion it's much more tasteful and tolerable, and I would be lying if the hype of every character cameo didn't get to me, especially with Brulèe and Katakuri, I have such a soft spot for the Charlotte offsprings.
Ado is a really good singer and a lot of the songs are really nice to listen to, I can't deny I currently have more than half the songs in this movie among my spotify favourites. The occasional usage of CGI is Eh, but aside from it this movie has damn good animations as well.
What this movie lacks, and it's really less of a Red specific problem and more of a general post-timeskip One Piece issue, is crew interactions. While a lot of early One Piece movies are kinda trash, it's the crew interactions that have always captured me about the story, and I'm willing to forgive even the worst plotline if it means I get to see those fucked up kids have fun and be all together. It got to a point that the amount of characters in the story takes time away from the main crew, and considering this was the first movie with Jinbei as a crewmate, it was a damn shame that this fact almost wasn't used. Still, I liked Red! I just hope the next movie that will inevitably come out is a crew-focused one, on the same wavelength as Gold. I'm kinda sick of constantly seeing Law.

fic 20 questions
1. how many works do you have on Ao3?
103, though 1 of those doesn't really count, as it's a translation of another fic
2. what's your total Ao3 word count?
205,238
3. what fandoms do you write for?
Currently, Star Trek and Doctor Who, mostly. But it's not that rare for me to dip into a fandom for a fic or two and then leave, if something gives me an idea.
4. what are your top five fics by kudos?
put it down in the pleasure of your company (HP, 895 kudos)
history keeps pulling me down (HP, 381 kudos)
pity the living (HP, 275 kudos)
Roche Limit (Star Trek: TNG, 265 kudos)
my hair-trigger love and faulty spring (FB, 265 kudos)
(These days I don't really love how many of them are HP fics for obvious reasons, but I haven't gotten into a fandom mega-popular enough to dethrone them yet. Maybe one day.)
5. do you respond to comments?
Yes! Please give me an excuse to talk about my writing.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Probably Roche Limit? in this hollow valley might have a more tragic ending on the merits, but I think there's a level of acceptance about it that Roche Limit doesn't have.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I mean, most of my fics are oneshots and it seems weird to describe them as having a "happy ending," but most of my longer fics I'd describe as being more hopeful than decidedly happy. So I'll say there’s so much more that we're gonna find, which maybe has the sappiest ending I've ever written.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I've gotten a couple comments that I thought were rude, but probably nothing I'd describe as hate. But there's always tomorrow!
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I guess I could argue semantics and say yes, since I have written explicit sex. But as it was non-con meant to be horrifying rather titillating, I'm gonna say no.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I've written exactly one crossover, Folch and Jones, merging Doctor Who and El Ministerio del Tiempo. It had a potential audience of about ten people even after @brilliantfantasticgeronimo kindly translated it into Spanish, but I'm still fond of it.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! As mentioned, Folch and Jones was translated into Spanish, once your accomplice, now your trap and The Morning After were translated into Russian, and love, they say was translated into Russian and Chinese. It always feel so special when someone translates my fic, I love it.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope, I think I'd be scared to commit myself to something like that.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
As evidenced by the fact that a solid 80% of my stuff is gen, I'm not really a ship person. But by number of fics written, Kirk/Spock is the clear winner, though most of it could also be read without shipper goggles.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I... don't think I have any. I have a few plot bunnies I never got around to writing before I moved to a new fandom, but usually if I write more than 100 words of something I'm stubborn enough to finish it (eventually).
16. What are your writing strengths?
Characterization, primarily. I try so, so hard to never have a "he would not fucking say that" line and I think I succeed. I like to think I'm good at hitting emotional beats, too.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Plot, plot, plot. Especially anything that verges on worldbuilding. Character creation. Humor. Romantic relationships. Sustained conflict. Often endings.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I think the only time I did this was in Bingo!, and that was a) largely made-up alien language and b) just a gag about swearing, and I still overthought it so much. So I don't plan on doing it again anytime soon.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Glee. The answer to this question will always be Glee and I hate it and one day Ryan Murphy will pay for his sins. But the answer is still Glee.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
I am, at heart, an egotist about my own writing, so this is hard! But I think, if I have to pick a favorite, I'll go with Roche Limit. I really like the concept, and how I was (I think) able to make a point about current societal attitudes while still keeping it accurate the futurism of Star Trek. I like how I got use all of the main characters. I like a lot of the dialogue I wrote for it. I like the ending, downer though it is. It makes me happy how much positive feedback it got.
Now, who to tag... @solvskrift @darkfromday @gallifreyburning @isidar-mithrim and anyone else who writes fic that I forgot about. And happy new year!

THOUGHTS ON EVERY DSaF FIC I'VE READ SO FAR
Because I'm a fan of cataloguing but I'm also a fan of boundaries and not all I have to say is nice
[Unzip Pants]
Rating: Bad.
Thoughts: this one haunts me. It'd have been amaizing if it didn't go for the gratuitous route it went, completely disregarding the original tone of the story in a way that made it feel boring and generic. Also, casual transphobia, which is one step too far ooc.
2/10
~~~
Never leave your drink unattended
Rating: mediocre
Thoughts: while not particularly good at achieving its main goal (being hot) it was a enjoyable for how mundane it was. Like having some third party kickstart the events that lead to the end is just amusing in an unintentional way.
4/10
~~~
Jack has some questions
Rating: RRRHFGGHGFAHAHAAHHH
Thoughts: I'm so fucking invested in this one I'm regularly blowing kisses to op going MWUAH MWUAH MWUAH never wanted to be Jack more in my life. Also some of the things written here became now personal headcanons of mine too, just great stuff.
8/10
~~~
Never let me down again
Rating: solid as fuck
Thoughts: Very effective at what it set out to do. First half had me squirming to the point you'd think I hate myself for reading something so actively upsetting and you're right but that's my war to fight. I think the writing does the setting justice and it's very sad and a good read.
9/10
~~~
His little obsession
Rating: ok
Thoughts: not too crazy about this one. Very short, good writing but... Just didn't quite do it for me.
4.5/10
~~~
Sorry I ruined your entire (after)life
Rating: WOOF
Thoughts: very hot but a little bit weird. The set up was rushed so it's a little like 🤨 but then it picks the pace up and it's good until the ending that's just really fucking depressing makes me sick to my stomach OT2
6.5/10
~~~
Lover's rock
Rating: cute!
Thoughts: neither of these men would be so textbook thoughtful about consent.
5/10
~~~
Jack Asserts His Dominance
Rating: 💥💥💥💥
Thoughts: my favorite one so far. I think of it so often and I'm glad I went back to find it just to save it. It's very in character it's very funny and it's very hot. Would recommend 👍
11/10
~~~
Massage ~
Rating: not for me
Thoughts: didn't finish this one I just didn't feel it
?/10
~~~
Fnaf One-Shots for lovely people
Rating: mixed bag
Thoughts: the Vegas chapter was very uncomfortable and unintentionally so while the phoney one was very cute :) didn't get further from there bc I'm skipping a handful too.
ok for the benefit of everyone i am putting my ttpd thoughts under the cut bc i had a lot of them. i did listen to the album and i had a fun time writing my opinions as i went! i haven't done any of the extra songs yet but i probably will tomorrow.
overall thoughts: i like this album pretty well! definitely more to my taste than midnights. i'm not instantly in love with it, but i will listen to at least some of the songs a lot and i'll give the whole thing a few more chances to grow on me. kind of a 7/10 for me personally - i'm not sold on songs as vehicles for Lore, i need to think it's a good song to listen to if i'm going to like it. i wanted more differences in tempo or dynamics throughout; at times songs felt a little same-y. anyway, my first impressions song by song!
Fortnight: honestly i just don't love the word fortnight there are too many T's in it. overall 7/10. i like it but i want a tempo change or something.
TTPD: the lyrics... babe. but at least she figured out how to say fuck like a normal person. "Gonna troll you" is also a lot. 5/10 doesn't hugely do it for me, would skip.
MBOBHFT: like this one more. she's doing that thing she does where there are more words crammed into the verse than she needs but the chorus really does it for me. 7.5/10
Down Bad: i like the dreamy vibes. weirdly reminds me of another song? specifically fuck it if i can't have him; my brain is itching. anyway 7/10? WAIT if i can't have you kelly clarkson. (not totally convinced that was it. still can't place it)
So Long, London: wish it had instruments? interesting cadence, reminds me of Lana a little. i wish she didn't use so many modifiers but it's a decent song 7/10
BDILH: y'know i like the message. she's right fuck swifties. we're handshake about this. this one is pretty good! 7.5/10. too long though. has the staying power of like a 4 min song (i think everyone was so extremely weird about this situation and it makes sense that she thinks so too)
FOTS: again i just want less synths. i like the chorus a lot actually. kinda over how she uses American. wait what's happening to this song. solid 7/10
Florida!!!: Florence!!! this one was a guaranteed hit for me. fav so far for sure. 9/10 going on the playlist (the no-skip tswift playlist)
Guilty as Sin?: starting to feel a little samey! not a ton of tempo differences on this album. wild to write a song about wanting this hard. feels kinda honest which is refreshing after midnights. not super my song but i don't hate it. 6.5/10 JESUS COMPARISON??? (this added a point. i feel like people throw out 'unhinged' about her when she's always struck me as an extremely precise planner but this was still a big moment for me. she should do more stuff like this. she should get weirder.)
WAoLOM?: stranger things ass imagery. i like the scream i want more variation in dynamics. pretty good song! i like it as a continuation of anti-hero. 8/10. on the playlist
ICFH(NRIC): we love talking about him and smoke i will be listening to colors. i wish it was faster! but i like it. 8/10
loml: again with the modifiers. nice lyrics in this one imo. kinda sounds like you're losing me. 8/10
ICDIWaBH: very mastermind intro! again w/ the thesaurus problem. thank you. thank you. faster song. 9/10 on the playlist. get a therapist fr girl
TSMWEL: she said you get one fast song. piano!!! honestly i like the way it builds and i like the paranoia. again, feels honest. 7.5/10
The Alchemy: i like it! reminds me of the archer + willow. god she loves a sports metaphor. i will listen to this more. 8.5/10
Clara Bow: kinda feels like an Olivia dig. been very interesting to see the progression of The Lucky One -> here. can't pretend you're not the establishment. 7/10
and just for fun - here it is in the glitter gel pen :P i had fun with this! i'll probably do it for the other tracks too - it was like pretending to be a reaction channel
Rating (and commenting) Vilebrequin's Videos #1
Woohoo! Their first video ever!
Title: ON DÉCOUPE LE TOIT D'UNE VOITURE !!! PEUGEOT 106 CABRIOLET - Vilebrequin WE CUT OFF A CAR'S ROOF!!! PEUGEOT 106 CABRIOLET - Vilebrequin
Release: July 23rd 2017 (6th year anniversary soon!!)
Length: 9:25
youtube
So, uh, their first intro... It doesn't look good but we see here something that haven't changed yet and that I quite like actually : the Vilebrequin FontTM.
The "on s'en bat les couilles" jingle makes me feel bad because
[TW rape, grooming]
It has been made by French rock artist Sunyel who raped and groomed young fans. She admitted to it.
[End of TW]
Sylvain trying to start his car and not succeeding will never not be funny on this channel. They drive too many fucked up cars.
Then it's a lot of actually pretty scenes with rock music in the background, nice. Also, why the fuck are you sawing a car's roof off??? These guys ARE stupid. Morons, even. I love them.
Can we take a moment to appreciate this man's style?
Tumblr media
The flow of the bicolor vest (with a low-cut tank top that we can't see here), the coolness of the mismatched socks, the sharp sense of style. Lazy gay/20
Also the way he opens the gate and enter the car is very sexy to me but I might have a problem.
Warning: you will never see Pierre sitting straight (or standing straight, in any videos). That man doesn't know the word straight.
They're driving in such a fucked up way after that omg. No seatbelts, standing in the car, trying to use broken stuff... (please don't do that. Stay safe in cars).
NOT THE SPLASHING SCENE iudfaeiudfge I KNOW this is Pierre filming so like. He's just getting splashed. Just for ONE clip.
Why the fuck are they making someone without a license drive??? At least they got wiser 'bout that.
So weird hearing my name (Clem) in there.
Anyway, Pierre is driving, eyefucking Sylvain and having the latter fall on him. He's clearly serenading him. As I've always said: this man is in love since day 1.
And so the little car (Sylvain's first one) has died. A bit emotional...
Also I always lose my mind over the postcredit scene. A badly written dialogue about the channel's future... knowing where they are now, that could make me sob. But then they go drink a beer, like the funny idiots they are.
Clearly not my fav video though, but it's the starting point of everything coming after... I'd say a solid 6/10. The sound is bad, the images are bad, they're not acting well, but they're just friends having a great time together and that's actually fun (and gay) to watch.
