I'm not feeling well and ranting about Tua S2 is my default so I thought I'd put some thought into what I'd change about the storylines for my own (personal) entertainment

Disclaimer I am not a writer, I just have opinions and this got way longer than I anticipated (especially the Viktor bit) so it's all under read more

Luther - I actually don't mind Luther's storyline too much, or what little he had going on anyway - it does make sense that he'd seek out another figure to fill the hole that his distrust in Reginald created, it makes sense that he is once again being used by that figure for their own gain, and it makes sense that he finally sticks it to Reginald in 2x06 - I just wish there was more of that and less of whatever the fuck they were doing with him and Allison (can they not just be friends please god) - I feel like expanding on his parental figure issues also just fits great with S3 and his confrontation with Reggie - and trying to trust someone who has betrayed him only to be stabbed (quite literally) in the back for trusting again

Diego - I'm just gonna be honest and say Diego should have spent longer in the 60s than a couple of months, maybe switching the dates Diego and Luther arrived, I don't know - a little more insight into how Lila got close to Diego in the asylum, and more time expanding on how therapy and his time in the 60s changed him, and expanding on the racism he endured in S2 not just with the asylum guards - it's something he and Allison talk about in S3 amd it's no doubt something they both grew up dealing with

Allison - again, very little Id change other than keeping it going for longer, it seems like after 2x06 racism stops existing in S2 (other than one mention) and so do all the characters Allison's interacted with at this point beyond Ray, obviously there's only so much you can fit into 10 45 minute episodes and the last three barely have any outside interactions beyond the commission but I still think even just one shot of Odessa, Ray and the others hearing about Allison being linked to JKFs death was warranted

Klaus - oh Klaus, I could go on for days about you - I am a firm Klaus joining an anti war movement truther, hell I even like the ghost cult theory that people had going on, I just feel like nobody really knew what to do with Klaus in S2 - and he was very much disjointed from the rest of the characters in the way that was obvious - yes he was in s1 and S3 (S3 again slightly more obvious with it than S1) but he was also connected to the main plot, S2 he was doing his own thing pretty much 99% of the season and it only served as more disconnect - I'm not saying he needed to be a main character, he wasn't in s1 and he still had things going on, I'm saying that it's at least expected that if everyone else is related to the plot by coincidence and what else, and Klaus is just there, why is Klaus there? What is he providing? S1, he had a hand in the apocalypse as much as everyone else, and it's sadly missing here.

Five - This is related to Diego too, but it fits more with the Five stuff. Drop the Handler stuff, just completely drop it. She didn't need to come back, have AJ take her place. And if you're gonna bring in the Commission then set them up firmly against Five (and by extension the other Hargreeves) for fucking with time - set it up that Five is dangerous and AJ knows it, that he's building an army (2x10) to try take Five down - his own adopted daughter (Lila) included, no deals, no bargains, AJ wants to destroy Five for even daring to try stop the apocalypse, and he's more ruthless than the Handler to get his way - and let Five get the satisfaction of killing him

Ben - I would say drop the possession stuff but that is plot relevant so maybe change it around to be on a more consensual sort of weird thing Klaus and Ben do - it could still be funny, with the siblings talking to Ben and Ben trying to act as Klaus (for whatever reason) and because Klaus is pretty much a strange character to his siblings already they don't question how wildly out of character he's acting ie "Because that is a thing, I, Klaus Hargreeves, do." "Uh? Sure buddy." / "I think I'm really nailing acting like you." Meanwhile the siblings side eyeing Ben acting as Klaus but they just don't know what the fuck is going on - and just for extra funsies (aka pain) have it established to Ben that he knows possessing Klaus (and by extension anyone else) is slowly destroying him but he wants to be a part of the family again, and he wants to experience life again so badly that he keeps going, and going, until he ends up passing on helping Viktor - and let that be part of the message with Klaus

Viktor - ohohoho where do I even begin? I think the only thing I will be leaving untouched is Sissy and Harlan, the rest? Gone. Personally I am not a fan of amnesia storylines, but Viktor needs to almost end the world somehow, right, and come to terms with his childhood trauma and the end of S1 somehow and doing it off screen hardly seems fair

I'm so glad you asked :) so Viktor, following have a gun go off by his ear and getting hit by a car goes deaf in one ear and it's affecting his powers obviously cause they're related to hearing at least somewhat - he's losing control, or can't make them work when he wants and he feels like the progress he made is thrown back as well as feeling conflicted and guilty for using them after what happened, after almost killing Allison - but still angry at his siblings for what they did and a lot of conflicting emotions also fuelling his powers being out of control

He's desperately trying to hide his powers (not the LGBTQ+ Merlin metaphor) from Sissy, Harlan and Carl and maintain the life he's created in the 60s but it's growing increasingly more difficult and only adding to his stress

So when he sees Luther again, he's obviously feeling a lot - happy to see someone he knows, anger, pained, guilty, confused - maybe even feeling like an outcast again, assuming that they all knew where each other was this entire time and left him out again - and leaves before Luther can talk to him, the conflicting emotions and his powers make something happen in Sissy's house (idk maybe something breaks enough to scare Viktor into leaving before he thinks he'll hurt someone else) and bumping into the Swedes and meeting Five again, and this time they properly talk it out - Viktor seeing the hurt he caused Five during his years in the apocalypse, even if the events that led to the apocalypse weren't only his fault, he admits fault for his part in it, and Five, aptly says something like, "You were a cog in a machine, Viktor. If not you, it would've been someone else, the Commission made sure of that." And it's clear they've at least talked it out somewhat to be able to trust each other

The second Luther and Viktor reunion is still hard - Luther apologises like in canon, and Viktor is wary of his sincerity, pointing out the last time he trusted Luther he was locked in the basement - Luther admits that he has no reason to be trusted, but he'll prove it to Viktor if he can - and it's cautious predicament with the two of them from here on out, eventually Viktor and Luther both realising the positions they were manipulated into by Harold and Reginald (and Pogo) and their own actions respectively

The other reunions and slightly less tense - Diego and Viktor's being the most tense of the remaining three - but again, they both apologise - Diego's therapy and Viktor's own realisations with the apocalypse playing a part, and it's slightly cold but still forgiveness, Allison is still trying to deal with her own problems in the 60s along with pushing down any of the negative feelings she has about what happened in S1 so it plays very much the same s1 to S3 wise but maybe Viktor is more wary of Allison's forgiveness, and Klaus is the one with the least stake in that plotline

So, okay, he's made up with the majority of the siblings, his emotions are under control, and his powers are more or less under control, how does he cause the end of the world? I'm still so glad you asked besties BC here's the plot twist he doesn't - in which I'll explain, so how does Ben still help Viktor and end up dying but it's nothing to do with the end of the world, and what about the apocalypse at the beginning of s2 - it's all been set up to look like Viktor will cause the apocalypse again in Five (and the audiences) eyes

So why does Ben help Viktor and end up passing on? Instead of running away with Sissy, Viktor tries to decide to stay in the 60s instead - it's not ideal but if he can't bring Sissy with him, then he'll stay, it's the obvious solution only Carl isn't happy with that - and the gun fight ensues - the gun going off throwing Viktor back to the theatre and into a flashback - one no one can reach him in - except Ben

And they still have their talk, and Viktor manages to find his own peace with what happened

So how does the world end? Well, the Commission being dickheads and AJ manipulating Lila for a reason bb with something like this going down between AJ and Five

"Today, tomorrow, next week, almost sixty years from now, it doesn't matter. It's all the same to me."

"Time matters, you can't erase all that time. It'll cause a paradox that could destroy the universe!" (Hello S3 hint) "Surely the rest of the Commission don't see it that way."

"The world was always doomed to end, and your pathetic attempt to save it only doomed it and your siblings faster. I'd almost congratulate you, Five, you managed to fail so incredibly that you made my own job easier."

They figure out the Commission are targeting the Federal building to make it look like an attack and start a nuclear war with Hazel's tape, and stop it from being blown up in time, but bad news - Harlan still has powers and AJ's army is ready and 2x10 plays out basically the same

And where is Reggie in all this? Keeping an eye on what's happening in the background - having his own people investigate the siblings and keeping note of their powers which will come bite them in S3 - he's not explicitly a part but he's definitely doing something in the background

And then, Sparrows.

S4 predictions (part 1)

Currently in a rewatch (just of season 3) and wanted to talk about this show and the direction it’s going in towards season three. A small 3 part series about what I think, SHOULD happen, WILL happen, and BS that will fly out of left field aka more random one off theories and loose ends

What I think SHOULD happen/ what makes the most sense

- #1 - five dies. Ima come right out and say it in in the group that thinks five is gonna die. So let’s talk about it. Five is so substantially younger than all the siblings I don’t see a future/ending where he’s alive and well with all of them. It seems impossible for an ending to be reached where five stays alive because how would that work in terms of post show. He isn’t technically even a real person given he was missing and hasn’t aged a day. In a new universe he’s just some random kid with a group of adults.

Not only do I find it impossible post show but during the ending. How would five ever fit into their lives again or even into their world. He says it himself. He isn’t looking for happiness he’s looking to keep his family safe not even himself. So I foresee a self sacrifice in his future. Maybe he doesn’t die but he’s not gonna be in their timeline or whatever. Longer post will be made about this I have a lot to say

- #2 - the siblings don’t stay together. In some sort of end all that looks and is able to achieve returning to the OG timeline and such for them all to be happy they wouldn’t be happy together. Viktor was happy with sissy, Luther with salone, Allison idk new universe maybe, Diego anywhere with Lila, klaus probably with Dave or the og universe, and five wants them all to be safe. But end of the day in order for a like achievable happy ending I feel like they won’t be staying together in the end.

- #3 - they get their powers back (also in my what I think will happen list). This show is gonna be weird without them having their powers. I’ve made a post in the past explaining why I think they still have their powers or at least able to get them back but either way without their powers show is gonna be weird. It just doesn’t feel right and I think it will be a bit boring and it will be impossible to achieve and ending to this without them having their powers back. They’re in reggies world it’s not gonna be an easy fight.

- #4 - no more apocalypse. Like yes this is their whole thing but no more apocalypse. The next season is only 6 episodes there’s not enough time for an apocalypse plot.

Summary : The thing about Love is— it can't stay in the shadows.

Warning : None?

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU TOLD HIM!?"

Your voice rings out in the room.

You'd been sulking in your room. Lights off, headphones in as you laid on your bed listening to the heartbreak playlist you created especially for this day.

And then Lila just came barging in. Announcing, "I told him."

And now you're teetering on the edge of a breakdown.

She shrugs. "Exactly what I said. Told him that you're becoming Laurie to his Jo."

"YOU TOLD HIM!?"

She folds her arm, leaning against the closed door. "Yes. Ja. Oui. Sí. Need me to go on?"

She-She told him. Told him. Him. Five.

"You…" you start, feeling rather faint. "You told Five?"

"No, I told Reggie," she scoffs. Rolling her eyes. "Obviously, I told him."

Your eyes widen.

"WHAT THE FUCK LILA!?"

"Calm down," she says. Frowning.

You ignore her. You start to pace around your room, stepping up on the bed and crossing over, and back again. Your mind in overdrive, as you try to think of a way out of this mess.

"I don't get it," Lila states. Eyes following your movements. "I thought this would make you happy." You give her an incredulous glance. "You were too scared, so I did it for you. You couldn't have planned to keep it a secret forever."

You step down from your bed. "Lila. Lila. Lila," you say. Coming to a stop in front of her. "You aren't supposed to tell your crush that you have a crush on them!"

"What, why?" she questions.

Inhaling a deep breath, you start your thesis. "So that your crush doesn't get the chance to reject you," you start. Raising your hand to stop her once she opens her mouth.

"See, when you don't have a definite answer about whether they feel the same or not, you get to have this illusion," you explain. Hands moving animatedly as you do so. "You can think that certain gestures they make or things they say are because they feel the same. You get to have this piece of dream in reality. You're allowed to feel those heart flutters, so long as you don't know what they actually feel." You look her in the eye. "Because once that happens, the illusion shatters."

Lila blinks. Once. Twice. Before simply stating—

"That sounds unhealthy."

Your nose twitches in irritation. "YOUR CRUSH ISN'T SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT THEY'RE YOUR CRUSH!" you burst out. Hands coming onto her shoulders as you shake her a bit. "DO YOU UNDERSTAND LILA? THIS IS A RULE OF CRUSHING!"

She nods frantically.

Silence.

"Do you really love him that much?"

You chew on your lips. Trying to find the right words.

"Half the beat of my heart is longing, and the other half is him." It's the best way you can describe what you feel.

There's a silent pause. You hear crickets in the background.

It is then she drops the bomb.

"He said to tell you he wants to talk."

Except he didn't.

Talk that is.

Talking involves two people. It's not talking when he simply said—

"I don't—I'm not—I think I should stay away for a while. For your sake. You know, considering."

And then he gave a jerky nod and all but ran away.

So, you see no talking.

Your gaze trails in his direction.

He is sitting near the back.

Next to Delores.

Your breath blooms in your abdomen, the edges darken with pain, one you feel all over your ribs and heart.

You turn to the front.

The breaths inflamed by pain, trudge up your esophagus leaving imprints of burn, your mouth tastes ashy in their wake. The burning nestles somewhere between your nose and eyes, the fumes reaching both.

Your eyes water. You pretend it's to quell the fire and not to add to it.

Blinking. Blinking. Blinking.

Don't cry, you request.

"I hope everyone is ready for the speaking activity."

Your teacher's voice snaps you out.

What class is it?

Oh, right Literature.

Wait— did she say speaking activity?

Fuck.

It's your turn. And you've not a clue what to say.

You walk towards the front of the class. Contemplating.

You have two options, a. Stand in front of everyone like an idiot, or b. Speak about one of the books you love.

Rolling your shoulders, spine straight, you take a deep breath. "I—"

Almost like being pulled by some magnetic force, your eyes find Fives.

You're hit with a wave of confidence. It drowns you in depths of courage. And with reckless abandon, you find yourself succumbing to it.

You don't give two thoughts to what you're about to do.

Is it impulsive? Yes. Do you give a flying fuck? No.

The truth is, you're tired. So tired of being a coward. That this is something you will go through.

Leave the wound that is your heart open, and dig your fingers into it, pulling out all the love that you can before leaving it achy, raw and free for him to ransack through if he so wishes.

Might as well become utterly shameless in your confession, you conclude.

Keeping your gaze locked with his, you start, voice soft, sure and loud. You won't take a chance, he has to hear every single word.

"Somewhere, there must be a reality where you're mine. A place where there's neither you nor me, just our emotions."

Your legs shake. Heart giving a stutter. You push through with a feverish desperation. Five's looking at you.

"A place where dawn will rise from your eyes, where I'll sleep to the night of your embrace." A shaky exhale. Your vision blurs. Still, you push through because Five is looking at you.

"From your lips to mine, lay emotions unkissed," it's a confession. "The breeze says, wherever you are, so am I."

"I don't know where that place is," sobs underline your words, heard clearly by every ear. But you only care for him.

So long you have loved him from the shadows.

This is a confession in light.

"I know nothing. Nothing but I feel this truth, and the truth is that I'm in love with you."

A/N :

Romanticising confession? Yes. But then again, confessions like these don't need to be romanticised.

A/N: slayyy, im gonna be honest i completely forgot seven bells was an episode (i thought the morning after was a part in oblivion), everyone say it with me “dialogue taken directly from episode,” brought back klaus saying christ on a cracker bc i miss it

Groaning as you woke up was not a rarity, however, groaning as you woke up with the biggest hangover ever, naked, and on the floor was a rarity. Carefully sitting up you peek over the pool table and see someone shirtless asleep. Please be Ben. Please be Ben. Please be Ben. Hearing the person groan and sigh awake, you see Ben, “God, my head--” Ben starts. “Not so loud,” you reply from the floor. “Y/n? y/n, where are you?” Ben asks looking around. “Down here,” you say curling back into a ball and shielding your face from the Kugelblitz’s light. Sitting up on the pool table Ben looks down at you uncurl yourself and moves to sit in front of where he is. “Do you--,” Ben starts to ask before you interrupt him, “Not at all.” hearing tired footsteps coming closer you begin to look for your discarded dress. “Well, good morning my dear-- Oh my god!” Klaus says before turning around as fast as his hangover state could. “Christ on a cracker! A pool table? Really guys?” He continues to turn around with his hands over his eyes like a kid. Ben quickly finds his shirt and throws it to you so that you have something to cover up with. With his back turned you can see ‘ASSHOLE’ written in what seemed to be permanent marker, giggling, you continue looking for your missing dress.

After unsuccessfully trying to find both your clothes and the rest of Ben’s, the pair of you scurry to your room to change. Picking out your clothes for the day and taking a quick shower, you walk down to the foyer area where Ben said he would be. Sitting next to Ben, he pulls you in closer, arms wrapped around you with your legs crossed and on top of his. “How’d you sleep? Was the pool table as comfortable as it looks?” you joke with Ben. “How was the floor?” Ben says while playfully rolling his eyes before pulling you in closer. Light chatter fills the room and is abruptly interrupted by Five and Reginald walking through the door. All of the Umbrella’s start cheering over the speech Five made last night. “I especially liked when you referred to us as a family bound by destiny and love, “ Viktor says making you smile. I wish we loved each other as much as they do. “Okay, enough. It was the booze talking. In the light of day, you're still deplorable.” “And your day’s about to get worse,” Reginald forebodingly states. Buddy every time I see you my day gets worse.

“The Norse had seven sleepers. The Blackfoot, seven stars. As a boy, I heard the legend of the seven bells. All these stories are the same. The village is under threat by flood, by fire, by a night that never ends. A shaman brings his disciples to a sacred cave. He tells them if they can ring the seven magic bells, the village will be saved, and all will be restored just as was,” Reginald says confusing the group. “Reggie?” Lila says raising her hand. “Can we get a little less ‘Brothers Grimm’ and a little more ‘what the hell does this have to do with us?’” she continues, laying on Diego. “There is a truth to these myths. None of you can deny what’s going on around us. All of existence will be gone by the end of the day, but whoever or whatever wove together space and time, they left a way to put space and time together if the universe ever faced total annihilation,” Reggie continues to explain concerning you. Turning to directly face him, Klaus’ arm and head resting on your head, you listen more intently holding Ben’s hand. “There is a portal in the universe. I built this hotel around it, and on the other side is the answer.” Looking at Ben you give him a ‘is he for real?’ look to which he replies with a ‘why wouldn't he be’. “And… we’re supposed to, what? Just stroll in there and ring some bells, and fix this shit?” Luther pipes up. “Sarcasm aside you are mostly right. Except for the guardian.”

“What kind of guardian?” you and Viktor question at the same time. “The kind of guardian that does this,” Diego says showing his hand with missing fingers. “He had a sword.” “It is a force to be reckoned with,” Reginald says testing your patience with the old man. “See? Yeah. this is where you lose me.” “This is where he loses you? I checked out at the sacred cave,” Lila says making you nod your head in agreement. “Why would the builders of this ‘back door’ need to have a guardian?” Viktor asks. “Ah! To protect it from people who want to use it for nefarious means,” Sloane excitedly says, Reginald confirming that she’s correct. “So I guess it’s gonna take all of us to defeat the thing protecting the bells,” Allison says looking around the room.”You’re actually buying his crap?” Five asks already checked out. “How is a guardian and bells any crazier than time-traveling briefcases and assassins with cartoon masks?” Okay, I think we skipped a few chapters here, huh? Letting go of your hand Ben stands next to Reggie and says that he’s in. It couldn't hurt to try and save the world-- I mean universe. “Me too,” you say spurring Diego to join in. “But I think some of us should stay back, like Lila.” “Uh..or you can stay, and I can go,” Lila says popping up from where Diego dropped her on the sofa. “No. this is much bigger than all of us. Nobody can stay back,” Allison tells the group. How does she know? Reginald then goes on another tirade about how we are the only thing standing between oblivion.

“I say we vote on it,” Viktor says. “This isn't a democracy,” Ben says before you add “More of an anarchy but less cool sounding.” Another disagreement breaks out before Luther says to meet back in an hour with a decision. Following Ben after Reginald, you pull his arm back making him slow so that you can catch up. “Are you serious about this?” you ask wanting to make sure he isn't just doing as dear old Daddy says. “Yes, y/n why wouldn't I be? I want our family back as much as you do a-a-and doing this might make everything go back to normal,” Ben says emotion in his voice. “I just wanna have our family back, so please tell me you're in,” he finishes. “Of course, I’m in. I want our family back…and plus I get to kick someone’s ass that isn't related to us,” you say, smiling at the last statement. “When this is over, we should go on a vacation.” “Where to?” you ask smiling as he holds your hands and spins you around to where you are back to chest with him. “Somewhere romantic,” Ben says leaning into your ear.

An hour later you’re standing with your father-in-law from hell and your husband, as the voting starts. “We’ve all lost people, but their deaths have to mean something. Which is why I’ll be voting to go with Dad,” she concludes. “So it’s five in and four out now,” Viktor comments. “Y/n and I count as one,” Ben says making you shrug and roll your eyes. Now it was Five’s turn, Five votes to stay, and it's time to accept our fate. “You’re all pathetic,” Allison says walking away. “Why can't we go in there with the five of us?” you ask Reggie. “That would mean certain failure. There must be seven or more.” Reginald then goes on to another speech about how he failed the Umbrella’s and how by proxy ended the world. Ben rushes to be with Reggie leaving you to be alone with the Umbrella’s yet again. Sitting on the stairs next to Viktor, you lay down head resting on a step. “So now what?” Sloane asks Five to which he responds “Wait for the end.”

Getting up from your stairs, you go to your room to wallow at the thought of not being able to save your siblings. Being startled by Sloane screaming you jump up and run to where you heard her voice. Walking in you see Luther on the floor covered in blood, with a giant slash on his chest, and Sloane holding him. “Oh my god.” Viktor and Five soon rush in, Five asking what happened. “He went to go get ice. I couldn’t-- he didn't come back,” Sloane tearfully explains. Kneeling down you hug around her shoulders, her head coming to rest on your chest. “It must’ve been him. The guardian,” Lila says. Moving your arms you now cradle Sloane’s head, brushing some of her hair away from her face as she looks at Luther’s wounds. Reginald arrives after everyone, acting shocked at the scene. He did something I fucking know it. Why else would he pretend to be shocked? Looking up at Ben he says that if we attacked first he would’ve still been alive. Standing up from the ground you and your family are knocked back. “Okay, we’re out of time the Kugelblitz is here,” Five says glancing out the door. Reginald leads the way into Oblivion, Ben right behind him while the rest of the group files in. “We can’t leave him,” Sloane tearfully says to you. “I know hon but we have to okay? We need to go,” you as gently as possible explain. Allison joins with “We have to go now or we’ll die.” You and Allison pry Sloane away from Luther and run with her, just after she gave him one final kiss.

Walking through the tunnel you end up in the same suite, just… backward. Walking over to Ben you embrace each other, holding each other close. Reginald slams the Oblivion door shut and is the last one out. Viktor asks where Klaus is and Reginald informs the group that Klaus has been Kugelbitzed and is its last victim. “No, he was right behind me when I entered the tunnel,” Five says through gritted teeth. “We need to go back,” Sloane says tears still streaming down her face. Reggie says that it's no time for tears and that we should get moving before quickly walking out of the room. After a moment of silence, the group walks out and joins Reggie in the elevator. Walking out you are greeted with the same hotel you just left. Ben and Diego start going back and forth, ignoring them you look around, heading to the revolving doors. Walking through you are turned back around into the hotel, this time however through the other door. “What the fuck?” you say confused, looking back at the door. Heading back to your family you hear them talking about Luther and Klaus. “Don't even try it Five, the doors won't let you out,” Diego tells Five. “Well, that would've been nice to know a minute ago,” you sarcastically respond. “So, what, we’re stuck here?” Allison asks. “This place is a test and a trap and a means of salvation, all at once,” Reginald answers but does not answer.

“We get it, Diego. Bell bad. What do we do? Does anybody know?” Five asks. No one answers Five’s question; Lila leaves to go eat sushi causing Ben to make another asshole comment, “how can you possibly eat at a time like this?” “I don’t know. How can you be a dick at a time like this?” she replies back with the same snarky asshole tone. “Hey! Back off, all right?” Diego says intervening in their argument. “She’s eating for--” “Strength. In these trying times,” Lila interrupts Diego and then pulls him along with her. “Did it sound like he was gonna say she’s eating for two?” you whisper into Ben’s ear. “I think so. That’s probably why he told her to stay back,” Ben replies whispering in your ear before biting your lobe playfully. After Lila and Diego left the group dispersed, waiting for Reginald to tell them what they were here for. Sitting on the stairs with Allison and Sloane, helping clean her husband’s blood off of her hands. “I hate to say the things everyone says,” Sloane says through tears. “Mourning in cliche is the last thing you need to worry about,” Allison replies. “I know everything is ending but I thought we’d be together when it happened. I didn't even get to say goodbye,” she continues through sniffles. “I got to say goodbye to my daughter and my husband but it wasn't enough. Feelings are just… they’re too big for words,” Allison says while holding Sloane’s hand. Letting go of Sloane’s other hand and standing with your cloth you tell them you're going to get some water so that you can continue cleaning her hands. As you’re leaving you heard Allison say “prick. They don’t know what it's like, to lose someone that important.” Looking back you roll your eyes and scoff.

Gathering in the foyer, Reginald informs the group of the gameplan. Reggie says that you must find a sigil but he doesn't know what to do when you find it. Great going into certain death blindly. Thank you, dear father-in-law. “Excuse me? We’re here because you said you have a plan,” Viktor says incredulously. “I do, up to a point.” “Great. So we’ll just stay in the hotel forever, staring at the walls and eating bad sushi,” Lila not-so jokes. Allison comes to Reginald’s defense stating that finding the sigil is the best chance there is at resetting the universe. “Where do we start?” Viktor asks already tired of Five and Allison. “We’ll split into groups. I will go with Allison, Sloane, and y/n. Ben and Five with Viktor,” Reginald says making you increasingly annoyed. “No we want Allison.” “Ben for Allison. We’ve trained together, so it makes more sense if we take Allison,” Viktor and Five say making Allison say “yeah, no thanks.” Viktor questions why not and she goes quiet and looks at Reginald. “Splendid idea. Allison, you go with the Umbrellas. Sparrows, stick together,” Reginald says making you breathe a sigh of relief. Reginald says that everyone should take a different floor and just like that you are on your mission. Just as you three were in the elevator Reggie says that he forgot his journal, stating that he’ll meet up with you on five.

Wandering around the hotel looking for the sigil, you and Sloane are doing all the work. Ben’s leaning against a wall being his normal pouty self. “Oh, don’t forget to check under the plants,” Ben annoyingly says making you frustratedly sigh. “Get off your ass and start inspecting the walls for hidden compartments,” you say helping Sloane feel the wall behind a painting. “What the hell is wrong with you? People are dying left and right, and you’re acting like a sulky teenager,” Sloane says opening a door and looking in. “You should just like Dad,” Ben says while walking toward the door Sloane had just checked. “Why is it so important for Dad to like you? He doesn't you or us,” Sloane says, closing the room she was just looking in. “We made our own mark in this world without him,” she continues. “As the Sparrow Academy, but they’re gone now,” Ben counters. “He was never a Sparrow. He was our dad, and a shitty one at that. You don’t need him. He didn't even come to your wedding,” Sloane says at her breaking point with Ben. Ben sighs frustratedly, opening his mouth to say something he’s stopped by Five. “I can’t believe I’m saying this. I’m actually glad to see you guys,” Five says appearing from around the corner. “What’s wrong?” Sloane asks about to cry. “The hotel is changing. I’ve been walking around in circles, but it’s like the thing is alive,” Five explains. “We should get back to the lobby,” you say while closing the room you were peeking into. “Tried it. What ever direction I choose, I end up in the same spot.” “Or maybe you have no sense of direction,” Ben comments making you smack his arm. “Okay, lead the way, Magellan.”

Following Ben who clearly doesn't know what to do and where to go, the hotel starts to shake and creek. The lights then turn into a brighter golden color as the hotel continues to shake. ”Which one of the idiots do you think rang the bell?” you ask, leaning on the wall for support. After the shaking subsides the four of you continue walking around, trying to find the way back. Holding Ben’s hand as you walk down the hall, you get to another fucking hallway. Coming out of a room is a samurai snarling at the four of you. This must be the guardian. Of course, we get stuck fighting the fucking guardian. “Really? A samurai?” Ben says at the growling guardian. Sloane then charges at the guardian; yelling as she flips over the samurai and starts to use her powers to crush it. “Revenge looks good on her,” you say smirking along with Ben. “Would you shut up and help us kill this thing?” Five tells you as he heads to pick up an ax and go into battle.

So I just finished the third season for the first time last night (I know, I know, I have no excuse for holding off this long) and I have. Some thoughts. Spoilers, obviously.

First of all, it really wasn’t as bad as I was expecting from the way people talk about it, but I have my issues I wanna talk about.

Allison. They took all the parts of Victor I hated in season one and shoved them onto her in this season. Now don’t get me wrong, at first I was excited to see her get her much-deserved snap after all the trauma she’s endured but… They did it so wrong. I see no point mentioning the Luther scene as I’m sure we all share the same opinion on how that was a terrible mishandling of her but the thing that gets me is the fact that she made a deal with Reggie, and when that deal led to the death of Luther and Klaus, she still didn’t back out until she herself was injured. What??? Like, no, as soon as Luther died, that should have been the point that the Allison I know would have been like “ok, nvm, losing more people isn’t worth this”. But whatever,,,

Also, the romance with Luther and Sloane was so rushed and forced, Don’t get me wrong, I honestly thought they were cute together and Luther deserves to move on from the incest… even though this isn’t much better… but jesus. Also, did it have to be another alternate sibling of his? Really??? They couldn’t have given him a love interest that didn’t share a father with him? Its better than Allison who he literally grew up with and refers to as his sister, but this woman is also basically his sister. And they got married after like five-ish days of knowing each other, chill.

I haven’t decided how I feel about Lila and Diego’s kid yet. I don’t like pregnancy arcs but I wouldn’t mind seeing those two happy and settled for once in their damn lives. I dunno. I am neutral so far.

Five was deffo chiller in this season, people are right about that one. He had his moments of course, but I was sort of surprised by how much of a back burner they put him on this season. He’s typically they’re main blorbo. I didn’t really have any issues with him or anything, just wished he had more to do.

Well…

There is one issue.

The last episode ended with them all losing their powers, which included Luther no longer being part ape. This is fine and I think it will lead to some interesting plot next season, but why is Five still a child? I think they could justify it in some senses, but if you ask me, he should have either reverted back to being in his fifties, or he should have finally been in his thirties with the rest of his siblings. I’m sure they just didn’t want anyone but Aidan to play him (rightfully so) but Aidan is 20 now, they could have pulled something off. It’s not like they’re trying to make an actual 13 year old appear to be in his 30 or something.

If they’re keeping him as a kid, though, I want to see that have an effect. I want to see him regress and slowly start becoming more and more of an actual teenager. (In all honesty, could just be me, but it kinda feels like that’s been happening a little bit anyhow.) Also I saw another post talking about him being in school dealing with people who are actually teenagers and I really think that would be so funny, please make the state force him to attend public high school.

This has been my random thoughts after finishing the season, if you disagree with me, that’s totally fine, they’re more just the thoughts I had late at night after being sick kept me up. Looking forward to the new season. It got confirmed to come out next year, although we still have no idea when.

Not to fill up your ask box when you likely have a lot of questions there already and we have so little information on the topic, but what are your thoughts on Reginald and Abigail? Every person we see him interact with is just a means to an end to him and he only cares about them in a limited way (Grace seems to be the closest he ever gets). Yet he genuinely cherishes Abigail and was willing to do everything to get her back. Do you have any theories as to why?

I wonder if it has to do with his seeming immortality. You know how Lila talks about getting the spins when you time travel a lot? How you have to pick a focus so you can get your bearings? I think maybe Abigail is that for Reg. All these mere mortals must be like fruit flies to him, and getting attached is probably something he stopped doing ages ago because otherwise, he'd just have a permanent broken heart. He told Five he's seen world after world end, some in worse ways than they were seeing in s3. That has to warp your brain after a while of it.

But he forgot the other thing Lila said: it's all still real. People are still suffering when you hurt them, and there are still consequences for your actions. Allison killed Harlan because she was muddled by the impermanence of everything in their lives, the malleability of the timeline, and for all she knew, they'd be in a new timeline in a few days and Harlan would be alive again. In other words, she stopped seeing Harlan as real because everything would probably change anyway. I think it's completely possible Reggie has that view of pretty much everyone except Abigail.

It's certainly the view he had in the last two episodes. He killed Luther and Klaus because they stopped being real to him. Steve Blackman said that Hargreeves' plan was always that their deaths wouldn't be permanent, so to him, it didn't matter what he did to them in the meantime.

Yknow what good on you Luther for coming clean. Could’ve gone the easy route and used Viktor’s memory loss to his advantage but apologised straight up and was honest about the terrible things he did

The Swedes are just weirdos and it is kinda sad how it’s just big brother Swede at the end trying to avenge his brothers

“I was alone for 45 years”… it’s still only been like… 2 weeks for Five, and he hasn’t had a moment to breathe

I maintain that Diego vs Reggie is one of the best fights in TUA. But the way Reggie just destroys Diego’s self-esteem once more with one word (even tho he doesn’t know who Diego is) straight after shanking the guy!

Five wanting to protect Viktor from the truth and saying it was an asteroid that caused the 2019 apocalypse (which is technically true)

episode 1

he's great in this all around (shout-out to his fight against Ben and a decent Italian line read on the kiddo's part), but my favourite is his little speech to Diego in the hotel room, could he have five minutes to relax, please and thank you?

episode 2

his excitement when he takes out the map with the roadside attractions, it's so cute, actually

his little moment at the ball of twine and comparing himself to Sisyphus, immediately followed by his reaction to Klaus calling him a good brother <33

I'm gonna be candid here, and I know this is an unpopular opinion, so if people feel the need to unfollow or block, I won't take it personally. Here goes: the way Lila intercepts and threatens Klaus is really just one small symptom of a larger trend I see between Diego and Lila as a couple, that makes me very uncomfortable.

Put simply, I love Diego and I love Lila: separately, not as a couple. And I think she needs him much more than he truly needs her, but his sense of loyalty, his sense of duty/obligation, and his resolve not to become his own father, are keeping him with her; that, and the circumstances of the world ending, and Lila being the only person left that Diego has ever had romantic feelings toward. But "we're the only ones left and we've been through trauma together" does not a good relationship make.

Diego needs the space and the patience to learn how to verbalize his emotions. He's deeply traumatized, and he needs a partner who will help him work through his sense of insecurity and his determination to help others while coping with all his own problems silently and alone.

The entirety of the Stan "experiment" is not funny to me; when Lila told Diego in an insensitive and even almost snide way, about Stan's real identity, and he stuttered for the first time since Season 2 (the person who made him stutter last time was REGINALD, so let the implications of THAT sink in), I think my heart shattered into a thousand pieces. I admit to personal bias here: I'm an educator, and I work with kids who have disabilities on the regular, and I can tell you that that moment was indicative of major problems in that relationship. Diego stutters when he feels unsafe, when he feels undermined, when he feels insufficient. Lila is brusque and impulsive; she is insecure and will risk other people's wellbeing, their feelings, to make herself feel more secure--the reason why she hid her real pregnancy from Diego until she could "confirm that he could handle it." As much as Diego hates talking about things, that's what he needs, and Lila doesn't talk, she just acts, and often selfishly. She really is not equipped, because of her own (entirely valid) issues, to take on a romantic partner that way.

I'm not saying that Diego is a saint or that Lila is despicable. Again, I love and enjoy their characters, separately. I'm saying they both need and deserve to heal, but don't have what each other needs. Unfortunately TUA has never prioritized the pursuit of healthy relationships or healthy emotions. The series is too saturated in bitter gallows humor and the articulation of the whimsically, satirically bizarre. But that means Diego and Lila are likely to continue to be a canonical couple, and I genuinely fear that this will prevent either character from experiencing the sort of personal growth that we saw in Klaus, Viktor, and Luther this season (or even Allison and Ben, albeit backwards, in their case).

I think for a lot of Diego and Lila fans, part of what convinces them that she fits in perfectly is that she's the same kind of fucked-up as the Umbrella siblings are, so it's easy to imagine her as "part of the family" (according to Five and Klaus). Ideally, imho, she would become a much better sibling than in-law.

So yeah. I felt as irritated as you did, by that scene. It was controlling. Lila needs to let Diego make his own decisions. If HE wants to tell Klaus to fuck off, fine. They're siblings, and Diego has known Reginald as long as Klaus has, and has the right to make that call, about how much he wants to be exposed to their toxic father figure. That isn't Lila's call to make. Nor does she have the right to threaten one of Diego's loved ones with unending physical and emotional torture.

I know Diego's not great at self-preservation, but no relationship works if one partner calls the shots for the other, without involving them in the decision making process of their own welfare.

And I don't dislike or blame Lila for this. I blame the writers who thought that scene would be funny and that that dark humor overruled any problems of characterization that it might cause. Humor at the expense of characterization is one of my top five pet peeves of fiction, lol. Grrrr.

You mentioned yesterday that you had an idea for a Five and Allison post-S3 fic. Would you be interested/willing to ramble about that while on your train ride? (StacyandtheSnark, I'm not logged in on my phone)

Ah, the post-S3 fic. It's been slow going, I think I need to rewatch S3 again to get a better handle on where everyone is at. But it's mostly Allison and Five talking (shocking coming from me, I know).

The angle I'm working with on it is that Allison is a little estranged from the family living her Perfect Life with Raymond and Claire. They've been in the new timeline a few months. Allison still has her powers, the rest of them do not. Allison does not know this. Five reaches out to see each other - motivated both by wanting to see how she's doing after everything and because he needs to know where she's at after the "betrayal" of her making a deal with Reggie. He's been busy drinking and having a terrible time being 13 and powerless. Five learns Allison still has her powers and that only ups the tension on his end because he's too aware of the power imbalance between them. There's tension, there's miscommunication, there's an argument, there's real talk finally happening and the air being cleared.

I have snippets of dialogue but it hasn't wanted to really come together. I keep poking at it, rotating Five and Allison in my mind.

A snip, if mobile cooperates:

“Anything interesting?” Five asks mildly from behind her.

Allison stiffens despite being pretty sure she’s not doing anything wrong. “What is all this, Five?” She turns away from the desk of files to look at him.

He stares back, leaning in the bedroom doorway, a box of Chinese takeout in his hand. “Luther’s stuff to find Sloane,” he says easily. He pulls a fork out of the box to shove some noodles into his mouth.

“I got that. What’s this?” She holds up the first page on Hargreeves Enterprises.

It’s a long second as he chews and swallows before responding, “You aren’t curious about Dad’s monopoly on the world?"

“I thought you were retired.”

“A man needs a hobby.”

“And yours is corporate espionage?”

“Well, I’m very interested in capitalism.”

Allison gives her brother a long, flat look. Five holds it, taking another bite of noodles. She sighs; this isn’t what she wants this to be. She’s here for a reunion and she can be civil on her side of things. If it falls apart it’s not going to be her fault. Pushing herself past all of that, she backtracks. “So, there’s been no sign of Sloane?” She gestures to the piles of Luther’s papers.

“Nothing yet.”

“But… Ben was with you when you left the hotel. And Lila, right? Why not Sloane? It doesn’t make any sense.”

Five shrugs. He’s giving her that tight look again, like he’s looking for something in her. Too casual, he says, “No idea. It’s a new timeline, whole new reality. It’s hard to say.”

“Wouldn’t you know?”

“Your continued confidence in my knowledge in how every timeline works is flattering but no. Not without digging through to find exactly how things are different here and tracking down which thread is the relevant one to change that specific bit, and I’m limited on that front now.”

Allison’s brow furrows. “What do you mean you’re limited?”

Five’s hand falters slightly as he’s bringing a forkful of noodles to his mouth, but he recovers and takes his bite. After swallowing he says, “Because I am but one man. And as continues to be infuriatingly relevant, I look like a goddamn kid.”

That’s never stopped Five before. She keeps staring at him. Something is off. She studies him. He studies her back, slurping up a long noodle from the box.

The phone ringing startles them both. Five frowns and turns to wander back to the kitchen. Allison follows. They stand together and stare at the phone where it sits in its cradle on the counter. It keeps ringing, breaking through the quiet of the small apartment.

“Are you going to get that?” Allison asks as it continues .

“Not my phone.”

They keep watching it. The answering machine clicks and Luther’s voice says, “Hey, you reached Luther Hargreeves. Leave a name and number and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. After the beep.” Static flickers for a few seconds before the beep rings out.

On the other end, the person clears their throat and then, in a low, husky voice, says, “Hey, Five, pick up if you’re there. I know Luther’s out of town so you’re probably going to stay there but let me know so I know if I should order more Thai for tonight. Klaus might be coming, if that changes your mind one way or the other. Oh, and, um, the paperwork came for the GED stuff, I put it on the counter. The emancipation stuff I think is going to be harder than we thought but we might be good if we can get things that say you’re fourteen. I put the papers on that with the GED stuff… Um. Anyway. Call me back before you get too drunk tonight so we can coordinate. Love you.” More static and then it clicks off.

Allison turns to Five. “Made a new friend in the last few months?” That casual love you bounces around her head.

His expression pinches. “Viktor?”

“What? Viktor?” That doesn’t make sens—Oh. “Oh! I—"

Five has put together the same pieces she did. “It’s a recent development,” he hurries to say. “His voice, uh, only really dropped the last couple weeks.” He focuses on stabbing the lo mein some more.

“No, yeah, of course.” Allison almost wants to replay the message, hear that low voice again so she can place it to Viktor.

She really hasn’t talked to her family in months.
