Genuinely hating the fact that people have to look really closely at art to see whether it's AI or not and like, zooming in and pointing out the little bits that don't match.

Because like, it's really fucking hard for me to calm down on obsessive details and trying to make everything perfect and make sense, to make sure that every lock of hair has an invisible follow line.

I get so bogged down in details that I ruin my art and the only thing that's been able to save me so far is to repeat to myself that no one fucking cares if this doesn't match up perfectly. But they do now. Everyone cares. We are zooming in on artworks and pointing out things that could have just been overlooked as human error.

Machine generated art means I feel like I'm not allowed to have human error any more. I have to be pixel perfect. I can't just vibe. I can't even imply.

And I think about that and become too exhausted to even start.

ok stay with me here im gonna try explain something

your friends are coming over so you decide to bake them a cake. you've seen them eat cake previously and you know the type of cake they like. you spend hours working on this cake and you put time and effort into finding a recipe that you know they'd like and you bake it. you put cool icing on it and you're so excited to show your friends and have them try it.

your friends come over and you show them this cake that you put time and effort into making. one person grabs a slice without saying anything. everyone else looks at it and goes "oh nice cake" but no one tries a slice. these same people then go and eat all of the Doritos that your buddy Kevin bought on the way here.

now you aren't mad at Kevin and you're thankful they brought something but you're a little upset that only one person tried your cake.

"why don't you try some?" you ask all the people who said the cake looked cool

one person says they don't eat cake in this outfit, another says you have an issue with validation.

"we don't need to eat this," says one friend, "you just made this for yourself you shouldn't need to share your things."

and you're screaming internally because its a cake it's meant to be shared you made it for yourself to eat with others.

Later that week you run into your friends again who introduce you to a new person.

"This is my friend who makes cakes," they say, "hey when are you going to make us a cake?"

and you sit there confused because, yeah, you do make cakes. except last time you made a cake barely anyone touched it. no one appreciated it which made you less inclined to buy ingrediants and spend hours making another cake. yet here they are, asking you for cake.

yeah, this is a fucking metaphor.

reblog people's creations bc the like to reblog ratio is absolutely screwed up. because people go into ask boxes asking artists to draw things for them and then don't reblog anything else. when creators express their annoyance at no one sharing their stuff, don't go and tell them they have an issue with validation and attention then go and consume their content? that's fucked up.

ALSO: liking something and queueing it is absolutely fine. it's still reblogging. make a sideblog if you're scared about ruining your aesthetic. just DON'T fucking like this post then keep on not reblogging creations. reblogging is NOT reposting it still gives credit to the artist if that's something you're worried about.

Also on another note. To have improved...you have to actually improve. hey guess what!

not everything has to be an au. I know, I’m a hypocrite of the highest order since I love aus, but there are some that simply don’t work. If you’re a mlm ship, don’t do a “but I’m a cheerleader” or “bottoms” au, both of which focus on female/lesbian experiences. I also would say don’t use wlw media in general for your aus but that feels like a big ask from y’all. If you find a piece of media influential or inspirational, take themes, like a queer fight club or a campy take on conversion therapy. This also goes in reverse, but I’m usually seeing wlw->mlm.

I’m all for liking whatever and creating to create, but also…as a wlw, watching stories I found so incredibly important as a child and found so influential be turned into mlm content is so gross. these stories are unique and influential BECAUSE of their relationship pairings more often than not, and that isn't something that can be removed for the sake of a fun fic plot or fanart.

Also don’t do like. WWII aus or something. For obvious reasons. I haven’t seen that but that usually goes without saying

There's so much bad in the world, between the wars happening in the east to the mistreatment, abuse, and straight up murder of lgbtq people in the US, people that were children's role models being outed as abusers and groomers and racists, it feels like every time I turn on my phone screen there's just more bad.

Cats are being tortured and killed on stream. (China)

Nex Benedicts death was ruled a suicide. (US)

Women can't have abortions and children are being killed just for existing. (Everywhere)

Minimum wage hasn't been a liveable wage for fifty fucking years and I'm supposed to what- be grateful that I'm alive?

Fuck that. Fuck you. I don't want to deal with this any more, where every time I turn around a new evil is emerging.

To 'absorb'. Just...let that word sit on your tongue and think about why it sounds the way it does.

Netanyahu continues to say Smotrich and Ben-Gvir don't represent government policy but they are saying the same thing. They want to ethnically cleanse Gaza but wrap it up nicely to sound like it's to the benefit of Palestinians and for humanitarian reasons.

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is so far the only named country Israel is in talks with to accept the "voluntarily migration" of Palestinians from Gaza. Strange, because there were many calling us crazy for even suggesting relations between Israel and DRC were notable.

Apparently we were just talking out of our asses about DRC's own struggles and silent genocide having an Israeli touch.

Dan Gertler's grandfather, Moshe Schnitzer, was president of the Israel Diamond Exchange for 26 years from 1967-1993. It's the largest diamond exchange in the world and his son Shmuel Schnitzer became president after him. Gerlter himself has been in DRC since 1997 and is estimated to be worth 1.2 billion. You don't amass that kind of power & wealth in a vacuum and considering how much their family dealings contributed to Israel's growth & economy, Israel can't honestly claim ignorance. Companies in the west deny knowing their products come from sweatshops & modern say slavery all the time but they know.

Also worth noting DRC's last four presidents have all had close relations with Israel. Mobutu Sese Seko (1965-1997), Laurent-Désiré Kabila (1997-2001), Joseph Kabila (2001-2019) and Félix Tshisekedi (2019 - present). Mobutu to Joseph Kabila were guilty of serious corruption and Gertler was very close to the Kabilas. Félix Tshisekedi says he is against corruption but interestingly the validity of his recent reelection is being contested.

I've gone off the main point a little but it all needs to be said because too many are still sleeping. WAKE UP. It's a new day, literally a new year, wake up and pay attention. What promises is US backed Israel going to make to these countries so that they accept Palestinian refugees? What new deals will be struck? More than 50% of DRC's population is below the poverty line but somehow they can feasibly accept refugees? How?

Please don't equate real harm with whump. They're vastly different.

At least for me, this includes art of things that have actually happened and written renditions of them for whump-sake (not as a tribute or caution for the event, like media actually enjoying it).

If you do happen to post something like this (eg: a picture of an irl burn for artistic reference), please please please tag it properly.

Seeing irl gore, pain, murders, etc on my dash really blindsides me and I try to block all applicable tags, but a lot of it just isnt tagged as 'irl whump' or what have you, so there's no way to filter it.
