oh i have seen the first twilight movie!! i just wasn't a fan. but it was my best friend's favorite series so i do know a lot about it! was anyone actually team jacob? he's like gale in the hunger games. the only reason anyone would actually prefer them is because they're Not the main love interest (sorry to any galeheads out there...)

🎸 danny: music is the obvious answer, but i'm not familiar with musical history so i can't go into detail 😭 but his dad introduced him to bob dylan and taught him how to play guitar, then he learned piano, then he taught himself how to produce his own music from scratch. this was in the 90s btw so it wasn't very easy to learn. also he used to seriously follow skateboarding

⛅ mikaela: she loved old school country music from female artists like tanya tucker, reba mcintire, loretta lynn, etc. she's less interested in modern country but she looooves shania twain. and she's worked nights (first as a bartender, then a nurse) for most of her life, so she got really into daytime soaps

Do you think there is a lot of hype with MCL New gen? I see many people telling that they are not going to play, so I’m afraid that there wont be many chapters or seasons

I think there is, consider that we're currently at 211,174 pre-registrations and the company hasn't even started advertising yet. They only shared a few (very few) social media posts, but no ads.

Personally, I've mostly seen only the most negative people of the fandom saying that they're not going to play and leave the fandom for good, which makes me very happy lol hopefully the fandom will be a happier, safer space for everyone. The nice people who are instead just scared of crushes being removed again, I hope they give the game a chance because I'm sure that won't happen anymore.

The number of chapters doesn't really depend on the number of players, look at Eldarya, no one is playing (and paying) and they are still ending the season because the writing has been complete since two years, and to give players' closure. Uncoven and Henri's Secret 2 also had very few players and still they were fully released in the end.

The only way I see the game stopping earlier than planned would be if the company is forced to close out of nowhere, like Is It Love? did last year, but I believe (and hope) this won't happen. I trust in the quality of New Gen, it's going to be as good if not better than AL and I loved that, the vast majority of people who played loved AL.

Also I reeeeally want those pirates and thieves, so I'm already looking into the future 🤤

How wrong I was

I mean I was kind of answering questions like this all day yesterday, and it's honestly fucking exhausting, but to recap:

-This is lore that basically makes the assumption of, "Everyone getting into this PvE has the attention span and narrative intelligence of a gnat and also no one was paying attention to any of the lore prior to 2021." Sure, you did have some call-outs, like I loved that Iggy had an appearance and voice in the Underground Event Mission, but they made Rein a calloused and surprisingly anti-omnic moron when that characterization really wasn't there before. Like... this was one of his big promotional images back when the game first came out!!!

He's literally protecting an omnic!!

The Rio mission was spectacular, and honestly makes the Toronto and Gothenburg missions look noticeably less polished by comparison, but if memory serves, the Rio mission was the only one they were allowing players to play at Blizzcon way back so... >.>

-I think they'll push PM more and more because they recognize that's the bigger ship and they don't want to risk alienating whatever players they have left, but they'll likely take their sweet time actually confirming it to drag out in-fandom arguments and by extension keep word-of-mouth up.

-As far as the Steam negative reviews go, I mean, I think that was kind of a given, especially since that's literally TF2's turf and a lot of the fandom for that has been pretty hostile to Overwatch's general existence for years, and now it's crawling onto Steam with all of its ridiculous in-app purchases. It's doubtful that a lot, if not most of the reviewers have even played it, but honestly, given all of Blizzard's practices and broken promises, it's not undeserved.

-Like, again, I have to emphasize that because what we have for a PvE is clearly such a stepped down dialed back version of what was initially promised, what was initially pitched as the reason for OW2's relaunch, and because we had to pay for it in a game that billed itself (ha) as "Free to Play" I don't think even John Cena could have brought the hype up after years of disappointment and breadcrumbs. Especially when they're charging money for the very thing--or what would have been the very thing--that called for all this overhaul to the game. I never really had any notions of Overwatch regaining its former glory. Also there's the fact that what little PvE there is was introduced nearly a year after OW2's launch! Like! You're literally doing an anniversary event in the same season as the PvE!!

It's been ages since I've last used Tumblr to post something (and not simply like/reblog things from my latest hyperfixation) but there was only one thing that could make me want to come back:

✨ New OBEY ME game!! ✨

I have to admit I've always been more if a Twitter person instead of a Tumblr person but I don't know why, when I first started playing obey me back in season 1, I felt more inclined to talk about the game here than there. And that's what I did for a short time. So now that I'm caught up with the game and I'm hyped about Nightbringer, I got the Tumblr nostalgia and decided to share my hopes and thoughts about the new game with the Tumblr fandom!

So, here it is: what do I expect/hope for in Obey me Nightbringer + a few theories I've seen around, and my own

First, obviously: SATAN'S BIRTH and all of its consequences. I'm so eager to see the shock his existence brought to all the brothers, specially Lucifer. I hope they give us a really deep and interesting analysis of their trauma, with them being visibly more affected by it than they were back in season 1.

Then, our apparently two stars of the game: BARBATOS AND SOLOMON

Here I have to explore a few things.

It's clear by the prologue that Barbatos is that demon with the clock (who can obviously control time) that helped a human in grief. As most of the fandom seems to agree, that human is likely to be Solomon himself.

Now, what does this mean?

I've seen some theories around. About Solomon being granted immortality by Barbatos' powers (thus his previous stories about how he got it being all pure lies) or even about Solomon being the human Lilith fell in love with and grieving her apparent death or punishment by heaven. This, I believe would be an INCREDIBLE new plot, honestly. It would make the story go deeper to a new length.

Did Solomon make a pact with Barbatos in which he gave up his mortality, all to search for Lilith? Did he find her with her new human life after that, and he had to resign to his new immortal live knowing Lilith is happy now with someone else and would end up dying as a mortal?

I know it's a crazy theory but it has so much potential that I would love to see it in the game. Will it happen? I doubt so. I'm not really that faithful in the Obey me writers to go to this lengths. But, hey, dreaming is free. And writing fanfics too, so I'll keep those ideas in my mind haha

Anyways, this leads me to my own theory that I do believe could appear in the game

BARBATOS AND DIAVOLO'S FATHER

It all starts with that king scene in the prologue but this picture has given me even more to work with

Barbatos is controlling a king, who is nothing more than his puppet. Now, which king do we know something about in Obey me? The demon king, of Diavolo's father. From which we know almost nothing. He's apparently alive, but he never makes an appearance and Diavolo acts more like a king than whatever that man is doing.

This makes me think... What if the king being unable to reign over the devildom, and Diavolo having to act as a King... Is all part of Barbatos' scheming??

What if Barbatos, with his immense power, made sure to keep the king away so that Diavolo reigned instead, even if it's without the title of king? And what if Diavolo doesn't know about it? Did the human that Barbatos saved (Solomon, as seen in the prologue) become some kind of help in this scheme? Is that why he did it?

Of course, it could always be a simple human king that tried to summon a demon to get power and got played instead but... That wouldn't be so interesting in the whole Obey me/devildom plot, isn't it?

Of course, there's more to expect form the game. The whole idea of MC disguising as a demon can bring so many interesting things if it's written well, and also the possibility of seeing the side characters (the angels, Solomon...) in the past is appealing too. And the whole mountain of possible interactions with them in that context would be enough for another long post but...

Should we get our hopes high? I am, honestly. I hope for too much lore in this game but I'm scared I'll get discouraged when it comes out.

The last seasons in Obey me felt rushed and there were lore details that aren't consistent (like RAD apparently not existing yet in Nightbringer but being said in Obey me that the brothers visited the school once while being angels...) and I didn't like the way they treated the first time travelling back in lesson 16...

So I guess all that's left is to wait and see.

A List of Things To Come

I was on hiatus for about 5 years, but I think it's worth the risk of coming back. These are some thoughts and hot takes I've had since then up to now. My professional life is busy, but when I have the time, I'll share. Anyone interested?

A Song of Ice and Fire:

For asoiaf canon, I’ll speculate on what Jon and Val could have been, and what they could have had together, if he had not kicked the bucket. I’ll also contrast it with Jon's dreams of a life with her, and why he put the torch to it. :( Because of the root of her dislike of Mel and Shireen, I figure she will not be pleased with un-Jon.

Game of Thrones:

In GoT canon, Jon did not love Dany as much as the script suggested he would. In fact, they both failed to take responsibility for the other person. I haven't seen anyone make a statement like this before. (The PTSD is real.) But fic writers did pick up on this and tried to fix it in canon compliant stories, with a lot of success.

Supernatural:

In Supernatural s12-s14, Mary should have found her sons to be way more weird, specifically with each other. But given what we see of her in s6, her characterization is consistent. She would have, and did, ignore the red flags for an idea of family.

I’ll share approving thoughts on Sam and Dean's relationship in the final seasons, disapproving thoughts on the final season of Supernatural, and how I speculated it would either go Gencest or Destiel. We know what happened. No one walked away happy and I think the fandom was all the better for it.

Destiel is not canon. It only became a one-sided love confession. (I know there's a lot of speculation on what happened b/w the studio, the writer's room and the post-production team. Idc. Not gonna touch it.) Thoughts on how I think SPN could have made Destiel go 100% canon involve tweaking the execution and balancing out the themes of Sam and Eileen's love story, the big bad plot, and Dean and Cas's 'love' story.

Outlander:

Outlander (show-only) thoughts, foremost on Roger Mackenzie. He has vexed me from the first time he appeared on screen. I love him dearly, but he vexes me, for how he consistently affects the plot and how that defines his role among the main cast. Later on, I'll run through my favorite moments, episodes and narrative arcs.

Miscellaneous:

I'll share a list of favorite ship-centric fics I've collected over many, many, many years. (Gotta be over 10 years' worth). Along with blurbs that explain my recommendation in a non-spoilery way. Fandoms include: Harry Potter, LOTR, Supernatural, The Walking Dead, ASOIAF, Game of Thrones, Star Wars (Sequel Trilogy), The Flash, Shadowhunters [look away book fans <3], Hannibal (show-only).

Most importantly, some very dear friends have encouraged me to vent and hype up my Jonerys fic series "We Could Live Together" as I write it. It's GoT-canon divergent, but I alter some of what occurred before 6x09. Then the story re-enters book territory and moves toward ADOS conclusions. I'd also love to break down and discuss songs from the playlists when it strikes me.

This is what I've been doing the past few years: working, (dating lol), re-reading the books and joining theory discussions on other sites. What touched my heart was readers asking for me to continue the fic series. Even as I considered it, I was conflicted. Since the show and book canon are so enmeshed, I think we were really vulnerable to being whipped and scored by D&D. But we all found ways to lick our wounds. I'm grateful we were able to become closer and stronger. I'm glad to be a part of it.

and here’s why;

firstly, no offense, but steddie (and eddie in general) is just another dude the Suffer Brothers ‘made’ to replace Jonathan- its the same thing, in a different font. a much more flirty font.

but it’s still cute- a bit over sold, maybe- or that’s just my bias as a hard core stonathan shipper- but i definitely felt ‘let down’ after actually watching season 4, the fandoms portrayal or hype of it was not at all what i saw- but it, admittedly, is still pretty neat- (not as neat as stonathan, in my stonathan opinion, because he’s a flirty metal copy of jon made to be frenimies with steve)

secondly, as much as i love stonathan- i love jargyle with all my second heart. mainly because Agryle is Jonathan’s first source of comfort in his LIFE, and they’re cute and stupid together and i love them <3

thirdly, eddie and jonathan DEFINITELY knew eachtoher- i refuse to believe they didn’t. outcasts, freak, know DnD, cough, daddy issues, cough, enjoy children (Eddie kidnapped them to play DnD, and Jonathan is the world #1 father brother) smoke weed(i know jonathan started with Argyle, but still, he COULD have started before), all about music, (jonathan even has Enter Sandman by Metallica on his official spotify playlist, so they have similar kinds too) and had some beef with Steve they’re the puppy extrovert and trust issues cat introvert but as outcast freaks <33

fourthly, why have ONE freak boyfriend when you can have TWO. why have ONE total stoner when you can have THREE (sorta four? steve’s not all about drugs, but he’s done them before)

fifthly, they ALL do weed n shit- even Steve does, in season three he says “it’s only marijuana, dAd-” argyle and jonathan obviously get high together, eddie deals them and has them, and steve does it too, just not as much

hi there! long time no see, how have you been? have you had a great summer?

after accidentally stumbling on my email i used to set this up (to be honest i forgot it even existed, i despise gmail with a fervour i cannot describe), i realised i’ve not explained why i just disappeared without a word.

the short version is i had a blip. i looked back at my work here and felt first- and second-hand embarrassment for myself over my own writing, reading my own work and cringing so hard i could’ve turned inside-out. i guess that’s what happens when a hesitant ace writes smut — my conscience kicks in and i realise i’m not the best equipped to write things i don’t know all that much about.

on top of that, i felt like something of a fraud because even though i’d watched hotd a thousand times over, i hadn’t seen a single episode of game of thrones. i took my embarrassment blip as motivation to actually watch all 8 seasons (with deep regret and self-loathing sinking in around season 7) and now i’ve come out the other side, i feel better placed to understand what hotd even means. i understand there’s a few of us in the same boat, considering hotd could easily be considered a stand-alone show and knowledge of got isn’t essential. however, i still felt like i needed to know why the fandom spoke about various things in the targaryen future post-hotd before i could give an informed analysis and consider myself a “fan.”

as i’m sure a lot of you know from personal experience, hyperfixations come to a natural end whether we like it or not. don’t get me wrong, i still adore aemond, fanon!aegon and daemon the same as the first day i posted here, but my interest in the hotd world waned after watching got and that pains me because i loved it so much, particularly as i hadn’t started reading any got fics as no characters caught my attention in the same way aemond had. but it turns out my feeling of inadequacy in the fandom was also my downfall, in suitably informing myself about the got world, i found myself lost with hotd and i’m not entirely sure if i’ll be able to make it back until the new season airs. trust me, i recognise the irony of this all coming from an ahs stan who wrote about her favourite season 3 years after the hype had come and gone, but i’m here to be honest about when to expect me back.

opening those 800 emails to see just how many of you lovely folks have followed me and kept me in fandom conversations since i last wrote was a bittersweet revelation because i knew it was going to take me longer than i expected to come back and write more, but i know i can’t force myself in fear of writing substandard content.

again, you can’t predict hyperfixations and i may just make a sly return before the new season, but i’m managing expectations because you’ve all been so lovely to me in my short time here and i don’t want to let you down.

personally, i’ve found the first step to returning to writing is re-reading my content, so i’m hoping a good binge of my works and wips will motivate me rather than disgust me this time.

my requests remain open and will not close, as any inspiration to return might be the turning point i need to get back here full time.

I very much enjoy anime & manga. I got infected with those brain worms back in high school, & they simply will not leave. Particularly into Sailor Moon, which I haven't stopped thinking about since 1999, (I have OCs for that & a fic I'm gonna one day sit down & plot out beyond This Is The Vibe. I have a few things floating around in my brain, but I just haven't made the time to do anything with it. Maybe since I'm at reception for 6 hours I'll do that 🤷🏻‍♀️) & JoJo's (I also have OCs for this one, but no fic. I do have a homebrewed ttrpg system to run a JoJo's campaign with, though. But I need to finish statting enemy Stand Users & some character design. Also it's not a priority because I have an asoiaf campaign trilogy to finish running). I don't read or watch anything with the quickness, so I haven't watched a ton of newer anime or made that much of a dent in my reading of Berserk, but I do enjoy both newer stuff and Berserk. I even have a couple figures from Demon Slayer, which is probably my favorite newer series? It feels very nostalgic to the series I grew up watching.

I was into the Netflix Witcher series, but I haven't been able to bring myself to finish season 3. No amount of Joey Batey tits or confirmed pansexual Jaskier can really build my hype back up when I've heard the last bit of s3 sucked & I know I probably won't watch season 4. I have collected all but the last book of short stories though, so once I've worked through more of my books I need to give a fair shake before donating I plan to start those & get into The Witcher proper.

The Elder Scrolls is very good & fun, & I know the plots of all the mainline games even though I've only ever actually played Skyrim to completion. I have...I have so many OCs for that. And a fic I'm slowly working on that tells the story of the Dawnguard DLC by way of Lapsed Viglant Of Stendarr & Werewolf Vampire Hunter Are Forcibly Adopted As Serana's New Parents (and also I am confirming Serana as, like, eternally 19 because she feels very teenagery/early 20s-y to me). Fun fact: two of my current very close friends (my Platonic Wife included) were made by way of TES (and then another friend was introduced to me by a TES friend). So, thanks for your service, Todd Howard. Y'know, I guess.

It feels very "What are your hobbies? / Magnets." to say, but, like, dolls in general. I've collected porcelain dolls since I was little (but that collection got pared down massively when I moved from Texas), & I'm currently working through a clean/restore/dress/display of my old Bratz dolls. I've also dropped real adult money on dolls to (out of box, bc it sparks joy) display in my apartment. Specifically the Sasha (my best girl) Rock Angelz repro I waited almost a full year to see drop, Heather Greyson from Shadow High, & The Pride Bratz (I had a giftcard). I need to finish cleaning my old Bratz before I drop money on more though. So I know my shelving situation, lmao.

I am not not into Dragon Age, but I also complain about it all the time. I refuse to engage with it in a multimedia way. What I cannot learn by playing the games/have told to me in those games is simply not for me to know. Just...the way the franchise is handled & how it feels very obvious that Bioware wants to tell an incredibly specific story (while still allowing for character creation?), all the lore decisions they're making that feel like retcons/throw away everything I got invested in early (hello the dwarves & the dalish & Alistair's everything), & the increasing non-optional nature of the comics & books...it brings my blood to boil. The games are fun though! I have fun playing the games! And my personal Warden/Hawke/Inquisitor trios can be pried from my cold, dead hands!

I'm gonna be real, I know much more about Th Old World Of Darkness than Vampie v5, but I am into Vampire The Masquerade. This is, again, a "I have learned everything in bursts of hyperfixation that last a varying length of time," but I would very much like to take one of my two special vampire boys out for a spin one day. I actually had to give this some thought because I am part of ship and let ship, and one of my favorite parts of She Ra is how easily and compellingly you can multiship in it. As long as you ignore the fandom that is.

The extremely limited things I've come around on were primarily willingly because I wanted to understand why people liked it.

But, uh..........well, the one and only one I got dragged around into is........................

There's no easy way to say this, but it's Glimmer and Catra.

Which is fucking WILD considering I participated in the first Glitra week in 2019. BUT! Keep in mind that Season 2 didn't come out until April 2019 and between S1 and S2 I actively avoided Glimmer as my least favorite character due mostly to fandom assassination. But yeah I did not like her so I did not get all the C/A/G fics that were out there. There were no fics or art I saw before S2 dropped that were glitra only, so it was introduction via an OT3. I kept hearing good things about Rage Break by Emberswitch (https://archiveofourown.org/works/17227490) and eventually caved to read it, and that was what got me turned towards the idea of Glimmer and Catra as a ship. I hadn't intended to and I hadn't been actively looking to change that opinion, but the hype on the fic eventually did make me go, "Well...what if there is something there though? Maybe I'll take a little peak. For science."

And then somehow I've posted 19 glitra fics and my longest fic ever is HtQY. :|

2. a compelling argument for why your fave would never top or bottom

A compelling argument? Meeeeeeehhhhhh-

But, I do actually headcanon Catra as demiromantic and somewhere on the asexual sliding scale so when I think of canon Catra I think of someone who flirts because she's learned how to do so as a manipulation tactic (both for protection and power), so she comes off as a lot more sexually motivated than she really is. So I don't think my fave would top or bottom because I don't think she's into sex at all. If she has it, she does it more to please her partner so it's a performative act that can be enjoyable but not something she personally is into. If she gets turned on she'd rather rub one out on her own thanks.

Like I said, compelling? Probably not. Is someone still going to be annoyed or angry that I personally headcanon Catra in the show as being aroace but still a lesbian with a powerful and loving relationship? Yeah. People still fucking hate asexuals and aromantics, and I'm sure someone thinks I'm a lesbophobe for it lol.

So I think I'm still choosing violence here.

Especially because the complimentary side to this is canon Adora is not a top. She might enjoy pleasing her partners but you really think the person who has taken multiple gold medals in overthinking something so hard that you turn it into a disaster and your own worst nightmare wants to take charge during something as strange, vulnerable, gross, amazing, and complex as sex????

Catradora is canon gets overhyped. Like, sorry folks, I love them and was glad to see them be recognized in canon very explicitly at the end and have seen them be obviously a thing but through more subtext and interpretation before then. But catradora itself is overhyped.

Like, I can't remember who it is (you? Tispy? someone else??????) who straight up didn't watch the show for a long time because catradora focus was so intense that it was off putting.

If part of the canon is so intensely hyped or pushed that it's off putting....like.....c'mon

A long post, mostly talking about fandom-things I’ve been up to I guess IDK

Only under a read more because it’s long, I don’t think there’s any Trigger Warnings.

Man, I miss expressing my opinions so I might try to get back to doing more of that...ha ha I know that sounds strange but like yeah..Like I used to write long-winded rants about what I watched or listened to or whatever I felt like... I kinda miss doing that.so I might try to do that more...

That and I’m kinda afraid to but I might share some OC things in the future? I debated about doing it because i feel protective of some OCs but I also want to share them at the same time so it’s quite a conflicted feeling XD. Seriously thinking of sharing info about my old YGO OCs even though I made them when I was 12 and only loosely updated them like 12 years or so ago? ...so they might contain some cringe...also I kinda abandoned all YGO ideas considering I can’t duel to save my life therefore I also can’t BS being good (i.e. I have characters that are competent duelists but I don’t have the skill to even pretend to be good and since YGO is like 95% Dueling it was hard to just ignore it and only write non-duel parts). But yeah, I always loved the YGO characters and the references to ancient Egypt which is why a part of me wonders what the story would have been like had he not completely turned it into a card game manga. I don’t dislike it but...you know a part of me really wonders... I guess I could have done something like that but *shrugs* So yeah, that’s why these OCs have dust on them but ehh might make an interesting thing to share?

It seems instead of trying Pokemon Legends Arceus I started a new Pokemon Platinum game. Yes, after chatting with Aisu about PKMN stuff I got the itch to play Pokemon Platinum again because I guess deep down that’s one of my favorite PKMN games. I have this huge ass strategy guide for it that makes me super excited to use every time, sometimes I just have it near me even if I don’t need it. I’m a huge strategy guide nerd guys, like the physical books type of strategy guides. Does that make me old? Ha ha! Anyway, I’m taking the game really slow though because my kid-self tended to just plow through the story and not train up Pokemon outside of my party and it made for a very narrow selection of strong Pokemon to use, so I’m trying to keep everyone at around the same level. I just now got the first gym badge since I had like 15 Pokemon I was trying to get to the same level. I wasn’t able to keep it even though, because the Abra I got via trade decided to start ignoring my commands at like level 11. I was trying to get everyone to level 12...so if he had just hung in there one more level it would have been fine...but no! It’s fine though...I’ll just get him caught up after I get the second gym badge. It’s funny to me though because I’d never experienced a Pokemon ignoring me in the game before.

Let’s see... my best bro and I have been watching Dragon Ball, Teen Titans, and Sabrina the Teenage Witch. We made it up to The Demon King Piccolo arc which means we’re nearing the later half of Dragon Ball and this is all officially new territory for my best bro, which he’s pretty hype about, he was always curious about when in the series Dragon Ball shifted to be less comedic and more serious in tone. Can’t wait to see Piccolo Jr. again in the next arc (the Piccolo most fans think of when they hear Piccolo). In terms of the Cartoon Network Teen Titans show it’s so nice to share it with my best bro because before that I only shared it as a common show with an ex boyfriend of mine, someone who cheated on me, so it made me sad that I didn’t have any positive people in my life anymore to share the Teen Titans fandom with. Like, at the time i knew my best bro too (by like season 3 of the show) but he was a casual fan who would watch it if it was on and that’s about it. He’s become a fan of it too and he sees now why I love the show!  It’s pretty therapeutic to watch this show again since it had such a positive impact on me at that time, it’s ironic because I’m to a huge superhero fan normally with only a few small exceptions.  I’m eventually going to watch Batman the Animated series with him, probably when we finish Teen Titans.

As for Sabrina, yeah we both casually liked it as kids but because of life and infrequent airings we didn’t get to see the show in full. So, now we’re experiencing it together. We’re on season 3 and at this point the show gets a very slow decline, still good episodes, there are several jokes that aged poorly but overall it’s a nice wholesome sitcom that makes me miss some of the late 90s wholesome stuff, mind you I said some of it lol. We’re watching Teen Titans and Sabrina via DVDS btw. With Dragon Ball we are watching via streaming because well...we couldn’t find someone who sold the DB set altogether like we could for DBZ (which DVD will be our only option for because my streaming service only has DBZ Kai and I actually want to watch DBZ’s filler because it gives us more time to bond with certain characters).

Ha ha, I think that’s all I’ve got for now. Just out of curiosity would anyone be interested in a long-winded not-so-positive Mario movie review? I’ll try to mention what positive things I have to say too but overall yeah my feels for the movie aren’t great? Might write one of those when I feel brave. TW: Death, Queerbaiting, and Voltron

Like I'm sorry y'all I'm just as hyped for the new content as much as anyone but the second I heard Lauren Montgomery was the one directing the first animated movie my heart sank to my god damned stomach.

For those of you who don't know, Lauren Montgomery was one of the co-directors for Voltron: Legendary Defender with fellow LoK creative director Joaquim Dos Santos. For those of you who very fortunately were not on this god forsaken hellsite between the years of 2016-2018 VLD had this website by the god damned throat. From seasons 1 through debatably 6 it was a genuinely good, if weirdly paced show. Then from Season 7-8 the show went down the shitter. FAST.

To make a long story very short that can be easily explained much better than I ever could by a brilliant YouTube miniseries by The Sin Squad. Lauren Montgomery and Joaquim Dos Santos both had an original script that involved killing off one of the characters, but were forced by their production company DreamWorks to keep said character (It's Shiro.) Alive because DreamWorks correctly predicted that Shiro would become the favorite character of the show.

How did Lauren Montgomery and Joaquim Dos Santos react to this news that they had to re-write a heavy portion of the show just to keep Shiro alive? Well they made it work for Season 3-6 with minor jabs towards DreamWorks here and there. Yet the second they could get Shiro introduced fully back into the team on Season 7 onwards they do a litany of things ranging from pretty good to exceptionally bad.

Announce that Shiro actually died but we're gonna fudge with reality and our own universe to bring him back (cool I guess)

Instead of expanding upon Shiro's role as a leader and a character just designate him as a talking head and a wallflower until they get back to earth (Bad)

Upon getting back to earth, the show shoves a half-baked romantic subplot for Shiro involving another man whom we know Jack and Shit about only to have him be on screen for all of like 4 minutes, 3 of them he's fighting with Shiro, and the last 1 minute he's dying. Perpetuating the bury your gays trope yet again. (very derogatory and bad)

Take a character who literally could have been the champion of diversity in an animated show (A gay, physically disabled Japanese man suffering from PTSD) and turn him into a wallflower for what could have been a fantastic growth opportunity and just have him go through even more trauma all for shits and giggles. (Hatred)

LM and JDS both fully admitted that they did all of this and the reason for this being largely because of their resentment towards DreamWorks and they both regret how the show ended. (*Screams into the dark, cold, uncaring void*)

I do not mean this post to be an attack towards Lauren Montgomery. She has a family and loved ones who care about her, sh does not under any circumstances deserve harassment or threats. She is a professional writer who makes a whole lot more money than I do and is able to churn out a literal multi-million dollar franchise in less than 3 years. Even if said franchise crashed and burned in a way that is only comparable to the finale of HBO's Game of Thrones. She has the professional chops and I don't. I am not at all trying to say I could ever fix Voltron after the literal maelstrom of a shit storm it became with the fandom literally threatening to kill people over ships.

But I am never going to forgive her and Joaquim Dos Santos for what they did to Takashi Shirogane. Ever. And after hearing the announcement this morning that she's at the helm of this upcoming animated movie I cannot in good faith just sit by and let people not know what she has done. Yes you can call me a crazed Shiro Stan. You wouldn't be wrong. But Lauren Montgomery and Joaquim Dos Santos both tortured and maimed a disabled Japanese character and turned him gay only for the woke points and to create more pain. They never wanted to make Shiro gay in the first place because they never wanted Shiro to be alive at that point.

I am happy to see that the Team of Bryke is working very closely with Lauren Montgomery on this if only because they were they original creative directors, but if I were in their position being forced to give one of the highest positions to a well known and documented bad-faith actor, I'd keep her on as tight a leash as possible. I'm still going to watch the movie, but I am going to be hyper-vigilant about the fact that Lauren is the one at the helm. I want this movie to succeed just as much as anyone else, but like I said, I cannot in good faith just stand by and let it not be known what Lauren Montgomery has done and what she could be capable of doing again.

Three Ships:

-Sulemio (Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury) - Gosh, this was one of those that took me by surprise. I was already interested about the 'new mainline Gundam series with its first female protagonist!'. The whole 'Witch from Mercury' title also sounded so cool. And after watching the prologue which left me in tears, I was already sold. Come first episode, I was absolutely not expecting the Utena inspirations, and my jaw dropped at that end with Miorine calling Suletta her groom. Seeing how their relationship changed from beginning to end was wonderful, and I love how much they complement each other. -Kumirei (Sound! Euphonium) - This one I know is a bit prickly nowadays, but I was keeping up with the anime as it aired, and it was something I wasn't expecting at all out of Eupho. The trailers and promo images had me going, "Okay, so KyoAni's doing K-On but with concert band. This'll be a cute slice of life to keep up with!" Wrong. I found Kumiko to be such a relatable protagonist with the whole being kind of scarred from pursuing something she enjoyed and growing to come off as nonchalant about it (playing the euphonium and then with what happened in middle school, wanting to distance herself from it), and then when given that spark (in the form of Reina), she grows to find the drive to genuinely want to stick with her craft and improve. That scene where Kumiko runs to the bridge repeating "umaku naritai" was so powerful, I felt. I loved the dynamic between her and Reina, and while I understand a lot of frustrations people felt with season 2, I do enjoy re-watching the series seeing how they grow and influence one another. Special shout-out to the other Eupho ships, AsuKao and NozoMizo (have you SEEN Liz to Aoi Tori??? One of my all-time favorite movies) -Widowtracer (Overwatch) - This gets a mention because while I was always a fan of things, I never really participated in fandom until getting into this niche part of the Overwatch fandom. While my excitement for OW2 died after all that had happened, I'm happy to have made some close friends during what I felt was the height of all the OW excitement, and it was through there that I got a similar drive to Kumiko (mentioned in the above ship) in that I got back into drawing and wanted to seriously improve.

First Ship Ever: oh gosh, I think it was back in high school? Haruhi and Mori from Ouran High School Host Club.

XGF-02 Gundam Lfrith

There’s been a lot of hype going into The WItch from Mercury. I’ve been around the fandom for a while, but this might be the most excited I’ve seen people for an upcoming season, and for such a prolonged period of time before its release.

I’m also quite excited. There’s a wide and interesting variety of MS, and it’s the first time we’ve had an anime (since we have had manga and games) where the main character is female. Also, the plot is Gundam High School; hard to go wrong with that.

The Good: While this still feels very Gunpla, it’s quite different than previous lines. As an example, the head is made of five parts: a tall green piece for the eyes and front peripheral camera, the transparent forehead piece, the grey eye-lining, and two white piece; the top and bottom of the head. This alone should say something of the design; it uses larger, more intricate parts, only doubling up on colors to wrap around other pieces. There are also a number of other interesting tricks this kit uses, but I don’t want to spoil everything.

The Bit-On gimmick is also very cool. I was only planning on getting the Aerial until I saw they utilized their Bits differently, and especially liked how they integrated into the rifle.

The Bad: There are a few joints that feel like they may not stand the test of time, but that’s kind of it.

The Details: Panel lining and black fill. Apart from that, I added some metallic green to the face and chest, and I used the stickers on the knees because I couldn’t replicate that specific shade of pink.

Overall, a very cool and interesting kit, with a neat gimmick that will probably only get more interesting as the series progresses. I highly suggest picking up either this or the Beguir-Beu just to experience the unique way these kits work compared to other Gunpla.

I finally watched AOT's last episode and frankly, I am not okay, I have been sobbing a river oh my fucking god.

Anyways, it was really good, as expected of MAPPA anyway, I was pretty much crying the whole episode actually.

I have complaints, mostly because of the not included anime, little things like not having the flashbacks of Armin of reading a book in the rain, the squirrels etc. etc. I would have love to see them in the market and the way to the boy who sought freedom, goodbye was not implemented, I WAS WAITING FOR THAT COME ON

The anime only scenes were good too, like Levi giving food to the refugees, falco and gabi, i wish we saw their outfits tho, they slayed with that one.

Yes, I am bitter still with the ending, no, I am not hearing anyone out and no, I am not going to pour my disappointments with it STILL, here because yeah.

It's such a shame that's the last and final time we'll ever see it, devastating tragedy omg.

Now that's out of the way.

It's been a long and fun ride, regardless, the final season has been going for what three years, i've been with this series for three years, it was fun really it was, this series took such a simplistic and cliched approach then twisted into something more complex and truly gutwrenching. 2020 was nothing without AOT, in my opinion, watching AOT broadened my media consumption, yanked me into the anime world and i already have so many fandoms i'm in.

2020 was a hard time too, i couldn't have done it without this bloody series, god, i remember aboarding the train hype, everything was everywhere, fics, art, videos, memes etc. All those I read influenced my writing style, all those theories made me think more critically, those memes and videos of it made me laugh. It's funny how a series like this one comforted me so much.

I remember being so traumatized by the first episode i'm like who the fuck would ever like this series with this much blood and that night i immediately searched for eren fics because i was like who is this boy i like him, i fucking dreamt of the beast titan, all those nights racing with my sister who could finish the series first, i literally woke up at 4 just to watch it before she could.

Fucking terrified which of my favorite characters were going to die next, literally sobbing over armin's death, god and the mindfuck with Marley and Eldians and Subjects of Ymir in the fray oh my god.

Can I just say, I wouldn't be who I was without AOT? Even with my cynical behavior, it's all because of it.

2021 who i never fail to reiterate and think fondly is good because of AOT as well, I figured wow, the final season is coming back, I should rewatch it again and so the hyperfixation began, i was sick too, almost dying too actually, dengue is dangerous and it was just a fond memory because i was watching aot and i acted like i never had watch these scenes in my life and despite feeling like dying i felt okay.

I was so batshit crazy when part 2 came out, that was the one that was actually peak AOT don't lie, I was literally screaming like i was giving birth OVER AN OPENING AND AN ENDING, i'll never forget any of it.

When I cried watching the whole episode, it really just occurred to me that this is really the end for AOT, i was only ever able to go through it because I have the anime and it what really kept the whole fandom alive, the anime's honestly the reason why it had this many fans as you can see.

And again the way it's heartwrenching for it to just be a simple series and then it's full blown war, jean and reiner holding out to each other, remembering how they used to be close and comrades then betrayals and war happened and it's all ruined.

The devastating realization of seeing the last few panels animated, watching the end flash through the screen, realizing there was nothing out of this now, no more next episodes, no more hype, it's gone and it's so devastating because how happy it made you, the way you'll never see these characters again, only in rewatches or art. But it's not the same.

I admit I don't feel as hyperfixated over it now, after getting burnt out of it last year, even good things go badly sadly and i was just here for eren now, but doesn't change the fact this series has nurtured my quarantine, i grew up with this series even if it was only recent, who changed the trajectory of my life and had me find my paths.

I'll never forget these characters who made my life, who brought life to the story, even if they were just moved by the plot now, i'll always have a soft spot for AOT, i will always love it, regardless how much i hate it, there will always be fondness within it.

It's kind of weird, really to see Levi who has done so much to the fandom just by existing and being drawn and animated now cease to exist? I suppose, looking at him feels weird like imagine comparing 2014 levi to 2023 levi now omg, that's where you really begin to realize how much time has passed and how much AOT has evolved AGAIN JKSDHJ

well, i'm still on eren's side, still hate what happened to him but i'll always love him, he is such an important character to me, i don't think i truly ever loved someone like him despite representing the total opposite of me, he just had that charm i suppose, his views are so hauntingly beautiful, idealistic, him representing hope, despite what he did, in the end he did what he could for himself and for his people IN MY HUMBLE ONION

i'm kinda scared what would happen to this fandom now, will it die now? Will it live? I doubt, I haven't even finished my eren fic and lol, either way i hope someone will still enjoy AOT, i hope still there will be new watchers.

This is long but this is just how I really feelt about AOT which I wholeheartedly do love and cherish with all the memories and the pain it gave.

Thank you Isayama for this world, for these characters, for these mindblowing revelations about war, life and freedom, for the heartaches and the joy.

Thank you WIT for raising AOT and truly breathing life to it, for garnering fans for it to be more appreciated.
