EPISODE 3: The French Dispute

hi !! ok so i got this rb on my post with a screenshot of mariah’s tweet abt jon matteson signing the mariah ethan petition and i figured i respond to it cause ive seen other people saying similar things.

firstly, i didn’t create the actual petition, idk if this person thought i did but i thought i’d just make that clear. the person who created it did use my art and they tagged me so that’s how i originally found out abt it.

anyway, i basically agree with everything said here, i don’t expect mariah to take over the role, i dont WANT mariah to take over the role, i love joey ethan and when i drew mariah ethan my only intention was to create a fun little hc that could stay within the fandom. and that’s still my intention, i love seeing art of her and ppl talking about her but i don’t want mariah to actually take joeys role.

however. i realize that a lot of stuff ive said probably comes across like i do want her to replace the role which is mostly why im making this post bc i don’t. want people to think that. and i am sorry if anything i said or did was disrespectful, i did not mean to but i can see how the petition situation definitely was and i apologize.

specifically with the post this rb is on, i was honestly a little weirded out by the petition as well, i talked about it with some friends and we kind of came to a general consensus that it was kind of toeing the line of disrespectful but overall that it wasn’t a huge deal. and when jon apparently signed it and mariah tweeted about it i figured the actors didn’t mind too much either, so i made that post just being like “wow the actual actors are engaging with our silly bits again.” that’s all i meant to convey with that post, i figured the petition was just a bit that would last a day or two and then everything would go back to normal. which is pretty much what happened i think

Anyway. this is so long sorry but my main points are that my intention with mariah ethan is just a silly little hc and im sorry for being disrespectful and making it seem like i was trying to genuinely switch the casting.

and basically like. directed at the general public, don’t actually try to pressure starkid or mariah into doing anything! we can have joey ethan and also have our mariah ethan hc and love them both!

Towards the Max not letting Checo through moment, I got a little more context to add.

Because I remember how blown up this got in the media to the point where even Max’s little nephews (literal children) received death threats but there is a lot more to the story than just Max not accepting the team order.

I’m not sure if you mentioned it but if you listen to Max’s radio you’ll hear him say that he told RedBull before (!!!) not to ask him for this bc he won’t do it, he has explained his reasons and he stands by them.

Now, as to the reason, it is heavily speculated (as good as confirmed) that Max learned that Checo crashed in Monaco ‘22 qualifying on purpose which led to him starting ahead of Max and eventually winning the race.

Before certain fans come for me, former F1 driver and now commentator and analyst for F1 TV Jolyon Palmer took a look at the data before Monaco 2023 and he agrees the crash was on purpose. As do quite a few other voices in the paddock.

Is that petty? Perhaps. Especially since Max had already won the championship while Checo was still fighting for P2.

Here I would like to add that the position switch wouldn’t have changed anything in the championship order, aka Charles would have still beaten Checo, since certain people can’t do the math.

But honestly, I think the biggest fumble here was from RedBull bc once Max makes up his mind, he is unlikely to change it. And they should’ve known pressuring him mid race to do something he already told them he wouldn’t do was a bad idea.

Yeah, so Checo's crash was like the detonant of Max's actions there. But I also think that maybe he just... he was faster? I mean, idk if you agree, but I think Max was generally faster that Checo and he could have went forwards, passing Alonso.

Maybe it was petty, but I think it didn't matter that much. As you said, the numbers couldn't add on, it wouldn't make a difference.

(But dude no offence, but the death threat thing... fuck whoever sent that. I mean, are you mental? What the hell, mate?!)

9. Scene that first made me love (or hate) the character

I already loved all of them from the beginning, but the scenes that just made me go “i will fucking die for you” are these

Heatwave: s1 ep2 “Under pressure”

I think the scene that immediately made me love HW so damn much is when he and Kade were on their way to the intersection in the mines under GR to stop the lava from reaching Cody

And before they could reach the intersection there was a wall of rocks in their path, Kade freaks out (rightfully so) cause he thinks they won’t be able to go through to save his lil bro, then comes HW asking Kade to get back in his cabin, HW then proceeds to drive as fast as he can to smash through said wall

What genuinely matters to me tho is the moment after, when Kade asks how he knew it would work, and HW’s reply? “I didn’t”

So HW did something that he knew had a 50% chance of working and a 50% chance of it ending with him probably really hurt, yet he did it anyway

And not only did he get Kade’s respect, but mine too <3333

Boulder: s1 ep8 “walk on the wild side”

The entirety of episode 8 has been an absolute delight to watch, it gives us an amazing insight to Boulder’s personality and how he perceives things, but the scene that just gave Boulder a special little place in my heart is the very last scene in that episode when Cody gives him the plant

It’s super short but it’s such a wholesome scene that made my heart melt and Boulder’s enthusiasm after taking the plant will forever be integrated into my heart ugh i love this soft boi sm 😭❤️🌷✨

The way his curiosity and gentleness shines in such a short moment is just chchvjvjvjjvjv

Chase: s1 ep16 “Rules and regulations”

That entire episode is a love letter to all Chase fans (including me) it had such an amazing plot line and it gave us a situation in which Chase is on his own to deal with what could be an emergency, yet it also gives us an insight in which Chase’s obsession with rules might be a dividing factor between him and the team

But it was really interesting to see how Chase would handle contradictory commands, cause he has to deal with 2 orders, Charlie’s order to not follow them to Griffin Crest under any circumstance, and Heatwave’s order to go anyway after Cody’s call

And so Chase ends up following HW’s command of going, but the moment they reach the border Chase stops completely per Charlie’s command

Idk that entire episode is just dhhxhxhhxh i love it sm

Blades: s1 ep3 “Hotshots”

This episode made me have so much respect for Blades, especially when Blades is hit by lightning and loses control and his ability to fly

Blades’ routers are literally in his legs and you can tell how badly damaged they are by simply looking at them, so now when he’s in bot mode his legs are hurting and you can hear it in his voice, it becomes quite and meek, compared to his usual energetic and loud voice, the way he speaks also changes and he speaks a lot slower too, it was painful to see him in that state

And what does the amazing boi do? He literally climbs a cliff to get Cody and Dani on a higher ground away from the flames, he literally does it while really hurt

Then you realize how severe the damage is not only to his legs but to Blades himself when he tells Cody and Dani that not only did he lose the ability to transform, but to move entirely

It’s like LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT- the boi literally is severely hurt yet he does his job as a rescue bot with zero complaint IM-

Just respect, so much respect man I love him so much 😭❤️🌷✨

Hightide: s3 ep18 “Turning the tide”

His entire episode is easily a one way ticket to loving this grandpa fr, but I think the scene that melted my heart and gave Hightide a special little warm place in it is the very last scene in the episode when he tells OP the rescue bots “got the right stuff”

But the exact moment is when he specifically compliments Blades just HDVDHDJSJJSHD

Like i want you to understand that we see Hightide treating anxiety induced Blades very roughly for the entire episode, and while he treated everyone the same, his focus was almost solely on Blades, and while I completely understood that HT wasn’t simply an asshole doing it for no actual reason, I was still ready to throw hands if he didn’t at least acknowledge Blades’ effort into doing his job

Then you have HT specifically adressing Blades’ (and only Blades’) efforts at the end of the episode and that’s why I’m now obsessed with Dadtide and Blades <33333

Quickshadow: S4 ep4 “Plus one”

This woman immediately found a spot in my heart the moment i saw her, but the scene that just made me go yep that’s ma girl is when she basically tells HW his stance is bad wheeze

The thing is, QS is great at insulting people without actually insulting them/ appearing polite while doing so, and damn do i want her social skills hcchchhc

The way everyone was so damn shocked when she insulted HW was priceless, no one stands up to HW most of the time and they especially don’t mess with him, yet here you have QS doing what everyone else fears to do chuchchchc

Blurr: S3 ep 22 “A new hero”

Oh my god that scene when he took the Sigma back to intercept the falling satellite there was a 50% chance his reckless (as always the boi has to be reckless <333) decision was gonna get him killed

The way Blurr is adamant to save GR and how he’d even joke by saying that he wouldn’t have to face HW after Boulder tells him he might get killed, only for HW himself to try and talk Blurr out if it only for Blurr to pull a “oh I can’t hear you! bad communication!!!”

ALL THIS, is before he even became an official rescue bot mind you, he literally didn’t even have the rescue bots insignia on at that point

Needless to say, it’s one of my favorite scenes not only of Blurr but in the entirety of the show <3333

Salvage: s3 ep20

Honestly Salvage is the type of character that immediately finds its place in your heart and that’s how it was for me, but I believe the scene that just made me go HHDHDBZJBDJZJSHZJSHJSJS is when Blurr’s BS is revealed as a lie and Salvage remembers what actually happened on their own ship

You see how hurt Salvage is over it, but just how he immediately forgives Blurr afterwards? I just- AAAAAAAHHHHDBJDJXBXJJDJDH I LOVE THIS KIND BIG HEARTED BOI SM

The way he says “but even so…” his tone is still hurt but he just can’t seem to truly hate Blurr for it, like, Salvage had every right to beat the living spark outta Blurr right then and there, and I don’t think anyone would’ve blamed him for it, but he doesn’t, he just immediately forgives Blurr and it’s just so wholesome and it gives you an insight on how big hearted and forgiving he is <333333

Have I mentioned how much I love Salvage’s and Blurr’s relationship???? Cause it’s such an amazing and unique take on a broken friendship in need of repair and i fucking love seeing Blurr and Salvage and their moments together <333

im never been much of a hater but soon i will be with how much im getting tired by some teams and drivers.

charles is good but madly inconsistent whether it him or the car and i dont think that combination would ever win a championship

ive always been annoyed by daniel but his return just made it all go tenfold, especially with how theyre treating yuki. i dont have much feeling towards yuki anyway but the blatant disrespect from the driver that has consistently beaten all of his teams since pierre

ferrari is turning me into a sainz fan. speaking from someone that had the ick from him all year last year. his revenge era is coming and ferrari is gonna be hiding in their garage and such

I’m a recreational hater. Like, I’m a hater, but it’s not that deep.

But I am starting to dislike people I never did before, which is weird.

Like I used to find Carlos and his “smooth operator” thing so annoying. He seemed so petulant and just such a daddy’s boy and so childish. But since he’s been dropped he’s conducted himself with such Grace under fire it’s been really endearing. And he is so focused on getting the job done and expressing himself so well…love that for him.

Yeah…Charles. I know the car is always the problem with his bad luck but also…how is the car always the problem? Carlos was also dealing with a brake issue during the race. How is it that Charles’s is always worse. How is it that there is always something stopping him from putting together a good weekend? Maybe it is just bad lack and he broke a mirror a few years ago. But it gets pretty tiring to hear the fanatics singing his praises based on drives from 2019. He didn’t want to leave Ferrari when he had the chance so at this point, it’s kind of on him.

New Daniel is really making me dislike Daniel. Old Daniel was fun, smiley, and just a good time. New Daniel talks too much, and not in the fun way. Every time he is interviewed it’s “yeah there were some positives but also you know some negatives and I have some idea of what to do but also some not quite ideas so obviously I’m disappointed and I don’t feel like I did my best but we’re just going to have to see”. What is that? It’s like a watered down version of Lando’s “I’m the worst I know it should have been pole” but Daniel’s is somehow more disingenuous and smarmy. I think he is under a hell of a lot of pressure and I get that the RB seat is weighing on him but he’s irritating me.

I am not a Yuki, in a driving capacity. He shouldn’t be in that team imo. I think it’s up to the team to decide if they want to prioritise Daniel because he’s first choice for RB but I think they should at least be honest and clear about that choice. Daniel biding his time in Toro Rosso isn’t looking like the world’s smartest idea right now. Idk what’s going on there but one of Daniel’s main strengths was being a peach to work with and a good teammate, and the vibes between him and Yuki aren’t saying that.

What I recommend - bc I believe my posts still show up in your likes - is to keep my pinned post on your radar. i’ve heard (i think?) that it’s because he’s been constantly folding under pressure

like every time he gets close to winning or whatever achievement, he freezes at the last second and apparently people hate him for that? (everybody makes mistakes)

also the daniel hate train makes zero fucking sense to me bc how can u hate that ray of sunshine (he has zero spine/backbone when it comes to himself but still)

anyways i had my f1 superfan friends explain the dan hate to me and apparently it’s because he didn’t exactly “perform up to expectations” at mclaren and has a free pass at a rbr or alpha tauri (i refuse to call it visa cashbull racing app whatever) seat no matter where he goes. it’s like they hate him for having good contacts and good relationships with teams even though that’s necessary for literally everyone in the sport.

oh… idk abt lando tho i just let him be tbh, him getting cancelled for being horny was kinda silly tho like what 😭 i just always thought he kinda unlucky like alex was with rb during his rookie year (tbh if i got taken out of a podium by lewis TWICE, i’d literally become a villain idk)

hi anon, i'm sorry you're feeling this way :( to be honest i don't really know what could be causing ppl to overlook your posts. idk what advice i could give you bc some of my bg3 posts do really really well, and some of them get like maybe 5 notes depending on what time and what day i post 🙈 but please dm me if you like i'd love to follow u if i don't already!! i love rbing bg3 posts on my blog i'd love to rb your posts too! i want everyone to feel included in this community you know ;-; even if you don't feel like your posts get enough attention i promise that isn't an indication of you not being wanted in this community!! it just means you haven't found your audience yet, and that's totally ok. it took me many years of posting consistently on simblr before i found ppl who were interested in my silly video game screenshots and tbh i feel major imposter syndrome for even saying that like jade stfu what do u mean ppl care about your screenshots no they dont😭 so like idk. for me when i get really worked up about feeling like nobody cares about what i post i just try to like......... make a circle of a few mutuals whose opinions i really cherish and every time they interact with my posts in any capacity, liking, commenting, reblogging, etc, i consider that post a win lol. be like "oh well my circle of elite mutuals all liked this post that means this post is pretty cool isnt it!!" lol that sounds silly but it helped a lot for me, bc i was really prone to getting myself in these cycles where i felt like if my posts didnt hit a certain note count that means i suck and nobody likes my stuff and thats a sucky way to feel you know!! and like i don't really know how i can optimze your note count for you, idek how i optimize my own, at this point ive given up on that endeavor bc it just puts too much weird pressure on myself to live up to an arbitrary and unreachable standard. but i think trying 2 reframe the way you think about this situation is just as helpful, it was really helpful for me at least. obv i think tumblr is a place where our posts SHOULD be shared ie reblogging stuff!! and i always always always encourage people to reblog posts bc thats how our community grows and flourishes, thats literally how tumblr has to function to survive so DO IT!! but also with all that being said, it will be better for u in the long run if you don't put a lot of pressure on yourself to hit a certain note count to be a valid participant in this community, instead make it about the love of sharing your creations online, and being content w the fact that your creations are still cool even if it didn't hit a certain level of engagement u desired!! and you know what, when you start loving and passionately posting about your creations, ppl pick up on that excitement. they get excited too!! and then before you know it you do have a community of support! so please dont unduly stress yourself my friend. does this make any sense. idk. Somewhere Else - ??? x Reader; lol I'm thinking Mark or Jaemin for this one. They seem to fit the picture in my head more than Chenle for this one unfortunately. Basically just an achingly fluffy piece with some smut in it lol

Stars Aligned - Chenle x Reader; basically Mastermind by Taylor Swift but he for sure knows the whole time and when the relationship becomes public (ex. gets exposed), things start to switch up

Several miscellaneous smuts that just pop into my head randomly. I have like 10 docs of just random smut scenes I haven't completed yet LOL

BUT. if every car got to unlap themselves instead. would the result have been any different. how much does that particular detail matter. -ok now i'm just JEALOUS of u bitches who got to watch this live. i could've been there instead i was experiencing such intense trauma that i've forgotten most of 2021 (also i didnt know f1 existed) -OH I SAID I WAS GONNA CRY I KNEW I WAS GONNA CRY -i love lewis. i will always pick lewis over max. THAT BEING SAID -i watch this and i just feel relief. knowing the pressure he's been under his whole life from his father. for the first time in his life since he was little he gets to lift that pressure off his shoulders. i'm so happy for him. and like. you can TELL. how easier it is for him after this win. no matter the technicalities of this win, i find it impossible to be upset with all that context. i just feel overwhelmed with love

in regards to this poll, sksk, i am sorry for teh lack of follow-up for this. i got busy with uni and all that jazz.

safe to say, i wish i was surprised with the winning option but i'm not. but some ppl reblogged it with tags that have points that somewhat opposes the winner. i guess ppl can check it out in the notes.

as in, yeah, it's valid to want feedback. but what if most readers don't have time for that? and i think most ppl *would* reblog writing pieces if they didn't have this pressure to say something. but a reblog with no feedback is sorta better than the reader not interacting with it in anyway at all. just saying.

and the reasons i didn't add 'i hate it' is because. . . i felt it would have sounded too whinny. i mean if the reblogger is already interacting with the post, imo, it isn't a problem. i know i picked the least picked options, lmao.

i guess this is one of those controversional topics thta can't be simply solved. idk, i know i'm in the 'wait a while to send feedback' and 'as long as it's boosted, i don't mind' lane.

but as someone, who's been inactive, i try to reblog and send feedback whenever. but sometimes, i don't have the energy and just hit the rb button, regardless. i feel like that's majority of the users on writeblr. well, those who read and rb stuff, anyway. the rest. . . idk. needless to say, it feels like ppl get more busy and they don't get chances to reblog and put feedback as well. so, they choose to boost the post.

no offense, i feel like the posts that say 'reblog and leave feedback' tend to not acknowledge how ppl might not have energy or spoons to put a comment in the rb. or they have a complicated schedule. there are probably many reasons why ppl just lurk, like the post, and never rb it. maybe they're just. . . busy. i know this is a controversal-ish statement but yeh.

don't get me wrong as a writer, i do appreciate it whenever i get a comment. but as someone who's also a reader, it can be a bit of a hassle to leave any. like, i posted a lot of writing pieces but i have followers that are more than that. and my safest assumption, 99% of the time, it has low notes is because they barely have time to read it. or i post it in hours they can't see it. either way, i mostly stopped worrying bc i don't mind. i get it and accepted it, eventually.

and lbr, i'm sure most of us writers, who are also readers, barely tend to reblog other's works bc we're busy. it's a sad thing to admit but it's a fact.

that's my over-all input, anyways. *shrugs*

Honestly, this man had more screen time on dts than some of the drivers. I don't know how this is allowed, even in other garages (with Jos for example). How can the pitwall make decisions unbiasedly with drivers families/managers basically sitting on their lap. I don't mind friends and family and managers being around obviously, but they should have a designated area where they must stay during the race, not in the thick of things. Do we really think the engineers or whoever is making decisions will freely be able to make cut throat choice and say things like carlos is too slow, we need to swop cars or something with his cousin sitting right there. It's things like that that contribute to slow decisions, they'll be more likely to want to give him a chance to improve his laptimes or whatever to keep his entourage happy then to make quick decisions that guarantees better results. Also, his father has been all over the garage during these testing days 👀

I agree, I understand the drivers wanting to have their family, friends and significant others around, but some of them are just way too involved for it to be healthy and impartial and just puts more pressure on the team and boxes them in like you said. They can watch from the back of the garage or in the hospitality but to actually hover around the engineers and mechanics and have direct access to the management and decision-makers on the pit wall is a bit much.

I get that Sainz Sr is a rally legend and that opens more doors for him than idk some regular driver parents, but he's way too close to the whole thing. We already know from Carlos and Max's time at Toro Rosso that both Srs are grade A shit stirrers and made the working atmosphere so stifling and toxic with their politicking that RB management felt the best solution was to just separate them by promoting one driver and leaving the other in TR. Even Marko (I know how we feel about him but listen he's been spitting facts when it comes to the Sainzes ngl) said Carlos would be better off in Sr wasn't so closely involved in his affairs.

I haven't really followed Carlos during his time at Renault or McLaren so idk if they manage to "keep him at bay" or if he was satisfied that Carlos was given the treatment they felt he deserved at those teams or what, but he's definitely been very visible and occasionally even vocal ever since Carlos made the move to Ferrari. I'm almost certain Sainz Sr has attended all of Ferrari's testing sessions since Carlos joined in 2021 and has been seen at several races throughout the seasons as well. Then towards the end of the year we got a bizarre quote from him claiming Ferrari's next car will be more suited to Carlos's preferences, which, like??? How does he know that??? Can he influence that??? He's not a mechanic or engineer or anything of the sort, he's not employed by Ferrari, he simply shouldn't have access to the team's sensitive internal data and info and it kind of sounds like he knows a lot more about the inner workings of the team than your average Joe. What's next, WAGs on the pit wall? 😭😭😭

Not saying I don't agree or anything but what does redbull being interested in Charles has to do with Carlos going more against the team, team orders or his negotiations not going so well? I just don't see the correlation...

I have to say I find it kinda interesting how Charles renovating is taking so long, but I honestly don't see him going anywhere. Even if it would be interesting having him in 'equal machinery' with Max, I just find it imposible for any top tier driver to want to go to redbull when they know Max has the measure of that team through and through, they would really need to be desperate.

it could all mean nothing/not be related at all tbh, everyone will draw their own conclusions, and frankly, i'm not the type of person who likes to make assumptions. but, and it's always going to be a but unless they outright confirm it (which is unlikely), i think it would be as followed:

red bull shows interest in charles, it doesn't have to be much, it can be as simple as 'hi, are you on the market?' (imo the answer should pretty much always be 'yes', even if they're not, simply because of the leverage it can give a driver/their manager when negotiating a contract). but now that rb has show interest, ferrari/fred want to assure that charles doesn't go to them (it's not a question of whether he would, it's whether he can) and start contract negotiations, at least publicly. the earliest mention of negotiations that i know of is from the 22nd of may.

now, why is all of that relevant to carlos? well, carlos' contract ends at the same time as charles', but now that rb has shown interest in charles, which contract do you think ferrari/fred are prioritising? carlos wants to stay with ferrari, he also thinks he's at the same level/better than charles. and in the past, he's had short term contracts before (toro rosso/renault) and therefor wants clarity for his future. i can't see him being too happy that his teammate is giving priority on that front, which could out itself with some of the things we've been seeing from him. for example, in austria he doesn't outright say he has more pace, but instead he implies that the pitwall can see that he has more pace. after the race, fred points out that carlos knew that the driver behind would 'seem' to have more pace because of the 3 drs zones and that they were always planning to keep them in the positions they started in (barring a switch at the start, i imagine), so why does carlos say it anyway? is he trying to sway the pitwall regardless of what was planned? is he publicly (because it's a broadcasted radio) putting pressure on them? does he want people to hear that he's the faster driver? maybe none of those, because we don't know, all we know is that it has happened, as well as other moments of discontent

this got wayyyy longer than i thought it would be, so i hope that makes sense, but if not, i guess the tldr is: charles' contract is being prioritised by fred because rb has shown interest in him, leaving carlos on stand-by.

i do think charles is going to stay, at least for now, but idk, it's a hard one when it comes to the second rb seat. if you think you're the best driver on the grid, you should be (or think you're) able to beat max in the same car. i mean, daniel wanted to be next to seb, who just won 4 championships in a row. valtteri/george wanted to be next to lewis, a 3 time wdc in 2017, and a 7 time wdc in 2022. is the rb & max combination really that more 'intimidating' (for the lack of a better word) that drivers are unwilling to get into a (or currently the) top team? i honestly don't know
