Ooohhh any head cannons with malleus! Yutu and how diasomnia reacts to them?
Ah yes the banished Prince.  I was wondering when I was going to get an ask about him, and I admit I am a bit surprised it was only the one unlike a certain other prince. It's rather fitting to come back to Yutu posts with him though, there's a great deal of tragedy to be had with Malleus in this ayuu.
notes: they/them used for Yuu, for context on the fyuuture kid au can be found here and here. SPOILERS FROM BOOK 7 ON HOW DRAGON FAE REPRODUCE. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED, PROCEED WITH CAUTION.
Tumblr media
I've mentioned it before but Malleus! Yutu plays by half elf rules.  He's very young looking, he's around the same age that Yuu is, whatever you think that is, but he looks around 15 at most and shares his father's eyes and teeth.  Even in your world he had a reputation for being quite baby faced, this annoys him quite a lot, though he keeps his outrage to a brief pout if the person talking about it is Yuu.
Yuu remembers Malleus being their best friend, someone who was socially awkward due to isolation and came off as intense and scary because of it.  They go to great lengths to try and encourage Yutu to make friends, but the public opinion of them as weirdos really hinders this and is only increased as Yutu matures.  This Yutu doesn't like people very much, he grows up assuming everyone is mean and overly judgemental and that he will never be truly accepted for who he is no matter how hard he tries.
Being born in a different world does not make him any less of a Draconia, though unlike his father he is less prone to rage and more to long periods of melancholy; he is very much that sensitive goth kid with reams of bad poetry he will want to burn when he gets older and a love for rainy days. He has a deep love for classical poetry, music, and old clothes. If the area where Yuu lived had a ren faire then you can best bet Yuu took him there as a special treat more than once, he loves seeing all the medieval outfits and activities. He's explored every cemetery your town has, knows all of it's weird rumors, and any fun history stuff that might have happened in and around it, something he retains when transported to Twisted Wonderland. There are few people who know more about the history of Night Raven College than Yutu Draconia, for better or worse.
His interest in the macabre effects how he sees his parent's situation. While other Yutus might have needed time to adjust to the idea of magic and curses, Malleus! Yutu always firmly believed in it and assumed that was exactly what had happened to his parent. He went back and forth on his beliefs about his father, as a small child he thought of his father as a wonderful person who loved his parent so much that he must be searching for them surely, and that any day now he would swoop in and fly Yuu and him away to where they really belonged. When that never happened he began to wonder if maybe his father saw his relationship with Yuu as a mistake and that their memories had been altered purposefully to hide his identity. Whatever the truth, Yutu has decided that his loyalty is to Yuu, and that no matter who is trying to harm them he will hunt them down and have his revenge.
He announces as much to Crewel after he arrives in the mirror chamber, magic sparking at his finger tips as he roars it with a force he didn't know he had and immediately starts hacking at how dry his throat has become. It's very cute and not as intimidating as he might have wanted, but his point comes across well enough. Diasomnia is extremely pleased to have a Draconia back in the Housewarden's seat, though Yutu is less than pleased with this new position of authority.
The transition of being a hated outcast to the rightful King of a literal fallen kingdom is jarring. Learning of his father's controversial marriage to Yuu, of the uproar caused by their disappearance and his father's outright refusal to ever give up hope that his child and spouse would return is heartbreaking. Silver and Sebek had standing orders to go to them when not if they did, that's how badly his father wanted to believe he would be back. He was barely able to live with himself without them, but he had to. He had a kingdom relying on him, and someone else too.
We have gone back and forth in these posts about giving Yutu a sibling, but Malleus! Yutu absolutely has one. Dragon fae create eggs from magic and their partner's love, so in this scenario Malleus and Yuu decided to have two children, one that Mal would nourish and one that Yuu would. Technically, the Crown Princess is older than Yutu, but since she hatched from an egg she matures even slower than he does. She did grow faster than her father, the ability to transform into a human came much more naturally to her because of Yuu's love, but she doesn't look or sound much older than six. You are insane if you think this means she thinks of herself as the younger sibling though, her egg was older by two whole years so there! That means she is in charge! So Yutu absolutely has to stop learning boring "political smience" or whatever and play with her RIGHT NOW. She's wanted to meet him for so long TᴖT how dare her little brother deny her TᴖT look at her she's so cute how could he even think of scolding her TᴖT oh jail for brother jail for 1000 years TᴖT
Yutu might hate socializing and have a negative view of people but he absolutely adores his sister and thinks of himself as the big brother. He lets her claim to be in charge in the same way Malleus let Sebek do whatever he wanted because he finds it amusing. It is not uncommon to see the King in Exile holding court with the Crown Princess on his lap, rocking her softly as she naps. It helps solidify his control over what remains of Briar Valley, they might have been skeptical about having a half human King who cannot even transform into a dragon, but his professed dedication to his father's legacy of sacrifice and the clear adoration of his sister make his authority tough to deny.
Speaking of sacrifice, going back in time was hard for Malleus! Yutu. He felt there was absolutely no way he could bring his sister back with him because of how young she was and he was skeptical of whether or not it would even work. If it didn't he would be depriving Briar Valley of a king again, but if it did well. Then he would never need to be king in the first place, which Yutu finds reliving. While he did step up to the task, all he ever really wanted was to live with his father, Yuu, and now his sister in whatever way would have been normal for them. Sure, that normal turns out to have been quite abnormal, but that doesn't mean he still does not want it.
When the Once and Never King sees his father he has maybe more information than any of the other Yutus, even those who had met their dads. He conducted lengthy interviews with both Silver and Sebek, compiling a great pile of notes that he went through over and over again trying to come up with a strategy. All of that planning goes out the window when they actually meet, Yuu asks for permission from Tsunotarou to introduce the two of them, thinking it would be nice for both him and Yutu to have more friends and Malleus is just intrigued enough to say yes.
So this is a dragon fae. It's the only thing Yutu can bring himself to think when he sees Malleus, the other, more intense thoughts and emotions are distracted by the fireflies that accompany his father's arrival. They're beautiful, he can't remember having seen anything like them before, certainly not in his future. His father looks at him in brief surprise, and magic tingles up Yutu's spine. It's similar to the feeling he had when he first saw his sister, like recognizing like and seeking to form a connection. It hurts to shut himself off, but he smiles and focuses on his humanity as he puts forward his hand. "Hello Mr. Tsunotarou, I'm Yutu." The smile that stretches its way across Malleus's face is pure amusement, he must have really liked this ruse. What did Yuu think about that when they learned?
"My the humans of your world are certainly brave." He shakes his hand proudly, clearly pleased at the normalcy of Yutu's treatment but still painfully unaware how to be normal about it. "I am deeply pleased to make your acquaintance."
Malleus adores Yutu. There's just something about him that activates a part of him that he wasn't aware of before, and while he doesn't understand what those emotions are he recognizes his increased need to be protective of Yuu for exactly what it is. His mind thinks of Yuu as his mate, in body and soul, and that does terrify him slightly. Yuu is so tragically human, they'll die if he takes them home. They'll die if he lets them go to their home. They'll die if he never says anything at all and lets his love rot out his heart alone in his tower while they freely move through the world without ever having known of his emotions-
I haven't given much thought as to how I would want a Malleyuu confession to go down, but I could see them starting a sort of awkward courting process where Malleus takes them for long, late night walks in the forest to slow dance alone, brings them roses and handcrafted jewels he silently begs for them to wear to show just how close they are getting- but however it happens there is at least an understanding that there is something between them by the time Yutu's disguise is knocked off and he's forced to come clean.
It's a reveal Malleus does not take well. Oh not that he hates his son, he is overwhelmed with such a powerful love and joy at the mere concept of his existence he could never- no it's the fact that his future. His happy ending, that he fucking deserves after everything that his family has been through, was robbed from him and he wasn't able to do anything about it other than go to sleep? Him? The most powerful mage (fifth actually but he doesn't care about that) in existence couldn't stop that? Unacceptable.
After Yuu gets him to calm down and soothes the brewing thunderstorm they both are very focused on the well being of their child. I feel like both Yuu and Malleus would want Yutu to have a chance to just enjoy himself, for him to take off the crown he was never meant to have and just. Breathe for a moment. That's part of Malleus's motivation for introducing him as his son to the Diasomnia gang, he wants his child to have a chance to have some fun with his Uncles and Pee Paw Lilia.
Sebek bursts into tears when he learns of Waka Sama jr's existence. I think he feels a sort of kinship with Yutu, they're both half fae and they both have a deep respect for Malleus. He's very shy when he sees how much respect Yutu has for him. He's surprisingly humble when Yutu thanks him for protecting him in the future, insisting that he was just doing his job. He likes listening to Yutu play the piano, I could see Yutu trying to teach Sebek how to play an instrument, partially to spend time with him and partially just because he is curious as to how tone deaf Sebek can be.
Silver is deeply concerned about Yuu and Yutu's safety. He organizes with Sebek and Lilia to change up their patrols to include defending the new members of the royal family . He is a bit confused as to why Yutu wants to just hang out with him when all he really does is train, but he also is glad that the little prince is willing to train with him and take Silver's concerns about his safety seriously. I could see Silver apologizing for not being able to defend his parent, genuinely distressed about his situation and Yutu being a bit awkward about it. He never thought to blame Silver ever, why would he? Yutu is not unused to Silver's kindness, but it still overwhelms him. It's a pure sort of love that challenges what Yutu thinks about the world, and he doesn't know what to do with that.
Now. Mr. Pee Paw. Lilia is probably the most excited out of the entire group, look at this kid. You see him? Living physical proof that humans and fae can get along! If a Draconia did it then you can too, Grandpa Leven would be so proud! The future is concerning sure, but now that he knows about it he can plan for it. Lilia might be old, but he is still has some fight left in him, and he is very happy to use it on securing Malleus's family's future.
Yes, he does try to cook for Yutu. He wants to make him a birthday cake because he insists that they should throw him a party even if it isn't his birthday so he can have one with his Pee Paw and Dad. Yes everyone forces Yutu to distract him so they can make sure they've got something edible. He's so sad about it, how could they, jail for the little prince, jail for 1000 years.
Malleus is overly confident about his ability to change the future. Failure isn't an option as far as he is concerned, he will find the person who dared to corrupt his perfect future and he will have his due. His son will never have to live in a world without him, and he will never have to live in a world that rejected Yuu. Someone clearly needs to be reminded of just who Malleus Draconia is, and that memory will not be pretty.
Bonus
So the little crown princess. She learns that her idiot younger brother is planning to go back in time without her and she is very angry about this. How dare he, she knows he can't do anything without her so she makes sure to tag along anyway.
I toyed with the future kid reveal coming from her just marching up to Yutu and giving him orders, but I also like the idea of the Draconia family finding her lost in the woods crying because of how distressed she is that she can't find her little brother. Either way she doesn't understand the need for secrecy and wants to spend every single second she can with her parents. She causes a lot of rain when she finally gets to meet Yuu in person, she had so many dreams about meeting them and now they're real and she can hug them- she's just got too many emotions in her little body send help.
The Draconia family has pretty easy to follow naming theme, but I wasn't too certain about what names to give Yutu and his sister. I like the idea of Princess Draconia being named Mallia after Lilia but I am less certain about Yutu. In my notes Miss Princes was just called Princess Tamago because she hatched out of an egg. That's not her name but I could see that being something Yutu calls her.

Could u write one for baji where he has sort of a black cat gf? Like they're dynamic is: "staring into someone's soul" gf and "stares too just bc his gf is staring" bf
Opia - Keisuke Baji
Content: FLUFF
Warnings: a fight (relationship, external) mentioned, not proof read
Tropes: Black cat! reader, (kind of golden retriever! Baji), established relationship
Summary: You observe everyone maybe just a bit too closely for most people's liking, but Kei really doesn't mind.
Vixens two cents: I don’t really write for Baji but I’ll take the challenge, sorry if he feels a little out of character! Thank you for requesting and let me know how this is! If you find yourself enjoying this, please please please feel free to request something cause ASKS ARE OPEN!!! yeah, alright, now enjoy some fluff!
"OPIA" - verb, emotive
" The ambiguous intensity of looking someone in the eye, which can be simultaneously invasive and vulnerable. " --
Baji knew you had a staring problem, he knew before he started dating you. Alone your dead-looking eyes was one factor in the equation, but since you had a distinctively bad case of „resting Bitch-face“, all scores were multiplied by ten. He was used for your glossy eyes to be staring dead at people, things, sometimes nothing even, just sorta dissociating out into space. At first he was a little confused, concerned even that maybe you weren’t getting enough sleep, or eating right, but upon asking you he found out that it really just was the way you were.
He thinks back to how he confessed to you: spilling some ill-rehearsed, grammatically poor lines of poetry he had smushed together over the past week after he found out you liked literature. You looked him dead in the eye the whole time, watching him fumble with his big hands and stumble over his words over and over again, because fuck the way your eyes were piercing his soul made him nervous, but your deadpan face didn’t move a bit until he finished with an embarrassing account of „Yeah so basically i was hoping you and I could maybe go out some time?“.
Then, your lips curled up into a small, sweet smile and you looked down at your desk and the letter and the little charm he presented you with. „Ok.“ was all you said, hands reaching up to the charm and securing it around your key-chain and looking back at him inquisitively. „Wanna ditch and go now?“ You actually isn’t give a damn, and he thinks that its one of the most attractive things about you.
And just like that, your first date was spent in a little cafe you suggested because „it has a great view onto the main-street“. So, over a creme-cake and a macchiatos you spent hours just people watching, which Keisuke came to find out was one of your favorite activities. When you first told him, he almost slumped together in his seat because who the fuck watches people for fun? But after you started pointing out little things to him; like the way that man was wearing two different shoes, or the way that that couple over there is passing for the third time already, he starts to see why you find it so interesting.
Soon enough after figuring out that you really didn’t mean any harm to the people you were staring at, Baji often caught himself turning to look at what caught your attention too. To his surprise, it often payed off, you had an eye for interesting, pretty, kooky things, so he made it a habit to look at whatever fell into your line of sight for too long.
This time, it was whilst the two of you were supposed to be studying at your place. Both of you were sort of failing the current Math topic, and with an upcoming test, you had decided to invite him over to yours to tackle the topic together. However, after around 45 minutes of hardcore struggling, you had lost a good bit of will and now chose to spend your time looking out of your window. Baji had noticed that the hypnotic rhythm of your pen scratching the square paper had stopped, so he turned to at you, half-expecting you to have fallen asleep.
When however he found your gaze fixed on something outside, his interest was piqued almost instantly. He found himself tracing your line of sight to see what you were seeing. Scanning the area outside your building, his eyes immediately found the hook.
There was a couple standing just outside your window, in the shelter of the bus stop that stood across the street. There was lots of articulation and hand motion going on, the man swinging his arms wildly as the woman tousled her hair and stomped her feet in retribution.
"They're arguing." Keisuke states into the comfortable silence between you two, but the words don't disrupt the atmosphere. A few moments pass in which you both watch them shout at one another, the woman now furiously pointing her finger all over the place, the man slapping a hand across his face almost comically.
"They have been for a while." you say back, head still resting on your folded arms, eyes trained on the scene.
"I wonder what it's about." Keisuke pondered, listening to the rhythmic in and out of your breathing, accompanied by the occasional crackling of a scented candle that sat on your windowsill.
A few more paces passed before you answered him. "I think its about a missed date." Kei hums in response, eyebrows furrowing as he glances to you. "How are you so sure?"
"Hmpf." You huff and shrug, the movement making your shoulders pop. "Just got a feeling about it... And look at the way she's moving her hands, pointing to something on her phone- looks like a serious thing, but not serious enough for something extreme like cheating."
He listened intently to your voice, but he didn't turn back to the scene, choosing instead to scan your body closely. The way your hair fell, the stretch of the shirt's fabric over the expanse of your back, the way your jewellery glimmered lowly.
Keisuke folded his arms akin to yours and lowered his head to rest right next to yours, finally getting a good look at your face. "That wouldn't happen to us, no?" he whispered to you.
Finally, you looked at him with those piercing eyes, and despite all the times he's looked into them, a shiver still ran down his spine and he felt his cheeks tinge with warmth. Your face was as blank as your eyes, but still you shook your head.
"Never." you whisper back to him, turning your head to lay on your arms like Baji's did. Kei felt a smile tug at his lips at how serious you sounded. "Good." he replied, voice still hushed as he came in closer to you, nuzzling both your noses together before giving you a tiny, soft peck on the corner of your lips.
When he pulled away and lay on his arms again, he saw your eyelids flutter to a content close and watched as your straight lips curled into a small, happy smile as you breathed deeply and allowed yourself to relax next to him.
Keisuke watched your breathing even out for a while longer, the gentle rise and fall of your ribcage, the occasional sleepy sigh and the sometimes rapid fluttering of your lashes as you seemingly drifted into sleep.
Kei allowed himself a bit of peace too, satisfied with how you've adapted a regular breathing pattern, and closed his eyes, intently listening to match the pace of his breath to yours. Right then and there Baji decided that perhaps people watching really is something wonderful when you're watching someone you love.

“Honey! Jordan Bell has a new poetry book coming out!” Spencer yells as soon as he walks in the door, expecting you to be curled up in your shared bedroom given it was a Friday afternoon and you had normally long since finished work for the day. He was surprised to find you laid out on the couch laptop resting precariously on the edge of the sofa, your tablet now resting face down on the floor, already having fallen victim to your slumber. He walked across to you, going to right the laptop and tablet, fully intending to turn them off once they were on the coffee table when an email caught his eye. Book signing meeting: Cherry trees and lavender
What
Why would you be getting emails about meetings for the book his favourite modern poet had just released. He looked at your tablet and saw two more surprising tabs: Release day sales reports and one off specialty collection edition delivery conformation.“What on earth.” he muttered to himself, nearly going to snoop more but he felt bad already just for looking at the open tabs on your computer, so he decided to just wake you up. “Darling? Wake up sweet girl” he moves the hair from your face smiling down at you as you slowly blink your eyes open as they go from confused to recognition. “Hi baby, tired from work?” he asks, laughing slightly as you just pull him down onto you. “Sweetheart, you left your laptop open from when you were working and i didnt mean to snoop but i saw some stuff about cherry trees and” he gets cut off as you basically push him off of you to sit up and turn towards your laptop. “What emails did you see, exactly spence? I don't mind you knowing, there's just a surprise I don't want ruined.”
“I don't know, what do you mean? Why are you getting emails about cherry trees and lavender? Let alone sales reports or book signing meetings?” He is painfully confused as you turn around to look at him like he's missed something painfully obvious. “Darling, why do you think I would get those emails? Given I'm not an accountant nor a secretary, I'm sure your genius brain can figure it out pretty boy.” you say as you stand up heading over to the kitchen, you hadn’t explicitly ever told him, but hadn't really kept it a secret, but once you realised he hadn't yet guessed you were Jordan Bell you figured you would tell him with a one off collection of your books, with customised covers all with something that reminded you of him and the latest one, cherry trees and lavender had a dedication page just for him. It had come today so with the kettle boiling you walked off to the bedroom to grab the stack of books waiting on the bed.
“Sweet girl, your Jordan Bell? The poetry author?” he asks, still sounding utterly bewildered at the thought as you walk back into the room. You place the books down on the coffee table, “Read this, look at these, then if you don't get it i might just have to start questioning that genius title of yours my darling.” you say opening to the dedication page you wrote to him personally and laying out the covers of the books one by one.
He doesn't move for ten minutes, seemingly frozen on the dedication page, you made sure not to mention him by name but described him well enough that you would hope and pray he gets it. “You okay there darling?” you ask cautiously. Unsure what's going through his head. He shakes himself free of the trance he was in. “Im, your, sorry yes i'm fine darling just, shocked. How did you hide this from me? Also, you're my favourite twenty-first century author just by the way.” he grinned at you. “Well, i didn't care if you found out before this really, but when i realised you didn't know i was part way through writing cherry trees and you ended up being a large inspiration for the lavender part.” you say with a smile, taking the book out of his hands and placing it down carefully. “So, I ordered a special edition collection from the publisher with customer hardcovers that have little things that remind me of you or us, and added some bonus ones to each, so they're all a tad longer than the original. I know you wanted the anniversary collection when it came out but I thought a one of a kind edition was better.” At this point you slotted yourself in his arms, chin resting on his chest looking at him as he looked down at you, smiling as wide as a kid in a candy shop. “I love them darling, they're the best, I just can't believe I never caught onto this.” he says reaching over to grab his new book as you shuffle further down him grabbing your own e-reader as you spend the rest of the evening basking in each other, with spencer commenting on the poems as he goes, smiling at everyone that points towards a memory you shared together.

could you write a kerry von erich dating head cannon? i love your stuff
thank you friend! ❤️
Kerry is literally the sweetest person alive. The biggest softest teddy bear with so many hidden qualities.
Kerry would know you from childhood and he probably would have fallen for you in 2nd grade and never let go.
All throughout school he would have been painfully shy around you if you had classes or interacted. He would admire you from afar, never quite able to get you out of his mind.
Once you and Kerry were in high school, he started to get a LOT of attention from girls, naturally. Like his brothers, he was a star athlete with great prospects. Still, he only ever really had eyes for you.
His brothers found out when they found his attempts at poetry in one of his notebooks addressed to you. As a joke, David took the poem and stuck it in your locker and signed Kerry’s name on it.
When Kerry found out, his heart stopped. He figured he would have to move out of the state rather than ever face you again.
You knew Kerry and his family and always thought they were kind, but you never would have guessed homecoming king Kerry was actually in love with you. So, the sweet poem felt more like a prank, no matter how much it made your heart skip a beat.
I love the sound of your voice/ And the way you smile too/ If I never saw your face again/My heart would go blue/ You make my knees go weak/ And my heartbeat race/ If there were a contest for your love/ I would fight for 1st place/ I dream of you and me/ I hope it’s meant to be
The next day at school, any time Kerry sees you, he practically runs the other way. Finally, you’re able to corner him after a class together.
“I’m sorry,” he tells you immediately, before you can say anything. “It was just a joke from my brothers, they thought it would be funny. They were just messin’ around.” “Oh. That’s too bad, it’s really good.” “Wait, really?”
You were his first love and he was yours. You were both each other’s first everything. Then high school graduation came along, and Kerry went off to Houston while you went your own way. Life went on, and you accepted the circumstances that took you on separate paths and told yourself if it was meant to be, it would happen.
Eventually, now into adulthood, you ended up back in your hometown to watch the old WCCW show. You knew Kevin and David were beginning to make quite a name for themselves, but you didn’t realize Kerry was also quickly following in their footsteps.
You hesitated to even approach him, watching girls throw themselves at him. It was just like high school and every girl wanting him, but 10x worse. Finally, you mustered up the nerve to stick around after the show, waiting out back with other people who tried to snag autographs.
Kerry and his brothers were leaving together, bags shouldered and ready to sign autographs. You waited near the back of the crowd, and when Kerry reached you, he didn’t even look up.
“What do you want me to sign?” He asked, pen outstretched and ready and head down. Your sweaty hand was clutching his old poem from years ago, retrieving it from where it had resided safely in your wallet for years.
“How about this?” You offered. His eyes read over the poem before they widened in shock and he looked up at you quickly. His bag dropped as he lifted you quickly into his arms.
The two of you picked up where you left off.
Kerry can get a little jealous, which you find ridiculous considering the shoes you’re in. If he sees a guy talking to you at one of his shows, he’s sure to take his ring jacket off more meaningfully and flex as often and casually as he can. In public with you, he’ll always be touching you somehow—an arm around the shoulder, holding your hand, pulling you on his lap.
He likes it when you spend time with him while he works out. He enjoys your company always, but he likes to impress you with his strength, and he thinks it’s fun to see all the things he can do with you, like push-ups while you sit on his back.
One of his hobbies is photography. You bought him his first camera in high school, and now, you got him an even fancier one. You’re his muse. He takes candid photos of you constantly and has you pose as well. “Oh, baby, you look so pretty today. Let me take your picture.”
You are Doris and Fritz’s favorite. They can see you’ve always made a positive impact on Kerry and like that you’ve been around the family for so long; you’re not an outsider. His brothers treat you like family too.
Kerry gets a lot of pride being seen with you and being with you. He talks about you constantly to anyone and everyone, to the point that the entire locker room knows you before even meeting you. Even Ric Flair knows who you are.
Kerry carries a picture of you in his wallet so you’re always with him when he travels. He’s always quick to take it out and show people. He has pictures of you and you two together everywhere, like the visor in his truck.
He often brings up the future to you, sometimes staying awake late just dreaming and planning out the life he wants the two of you to have.
“Kerry, you have a title match tomorrow, honey. We don’t have to worry about what color we should paint our future kitchen right now.” “You’re right, but I’m still leaning towards some kind of green.”
Kerry is great at randomly buying flowers for no reason and surprising you at the best times.
He plans to propose to you as soon as he can think of the most romantic way to do it. He carries your ring on him for months, nervously waiting and driving himself crazy trying to find the perfect moment.
Finally, one night he’s sitting at the kitchen table all alone, unable to sleep. He has the ring box on the table, and he’s inspecting the ring in his hand under the light when you walk in. He nearly fell out of his chair, not expecting to see you.
“…You weren’t supposed to see that.” He manages to get out before you let out a laugh and fly into his lap. “Yes!” You say as you hug his neck and he immediately puts the ring on your finger.

gale is afraid of thunderstorms: it started as a child when he had a bad night as a child. he may hate storms, but enjoys the rain. cuz he thinks the rain cleans the world, removing all the coal n smoke from his home district.
katniss has pretty handwriting. i thought about after her n peeta were adding to her family’s old book: he drew and she wrote. this is in contrast to peeta’s handwriting. his is blocky and all capitalised. it’s okay, but can get very messy very quickly
peeta is really good at braiding and doing ppls hair. he braids katniss’ hair and styles his daughters hair for school
madge’s paternal grandma was from the seam- or at least mostly. her dad is described as having dark hair- something no-native towns people have. (this might be a slight stretch if things!)
gales best friend is thom. they were childhood best friends and very very close. they are the most loyal of friends and try incredibly hard to protect/care for the other. gale may be katniss’ closes friend, but he never does call her HIS best friend (more like hunting partners). and i always thought he called his family and thom is his best friends
peeta is a lot like his mum. he has her mannerism and particular actions, but looks quite close to his father. his favourite person is his eldest brother, who always tried to sneak him some nicer bread when their mum went out of the house.
katniss is skilled with the violin/fiddle. she took it up after the war, since it has a bow and all that. she also hangs out with johanna and tried to learn how to do wood crafting and that. especially making bow and bird houses, just like her dad.
gale is a very skilled dancer. like he would often go to parties and do their traditional seam/town/d12 dances. he does it with his mum Hazelle to bring her some joy since he can’t buy her anything nice.
madge is also a very good dancer. But it’s more that she had to learn to, due to having all the Capitol citizens and having to attend banquets. i also think that she gets many gifts from them: dresses, ribbons and jewellery from her guest as a small gift. that’s why she had many things, not cuz her father can afford it but more so as a gift from the Capitol citizens
since all victors need a talent, I always imagine finnicks was poetry and johanna’s is wood carving. Finnick writes sonnets about annie to be incognito about his devotion. johanna makes carvings of her family and loved one. even fallen tributes too. annie’s would be something artistic too, possibly like jewellery making or crocheting since it requires tying lots of knots.
annie’s dad was a pearl farmer/merchant. she also had the a slightest valley girl accent: not annoying but it’s more endearing and sweet. like a Cher from clueless
johanna’s favourite holiday is/was Xmas. n since she lost her family, she doesn’t celebrate it as much. but she smtimes does make a yule log and sprinkles around pine cones after they went. though now after, she makes it more celebratory and does it with annie and mini-Finn. she gives him the most present, even when annie protest and tell her not to spoil him

I have a hc that Akaashi and Kiyoko became close friends in college.
It was awkward at first, as both of them were shy and didn’t seem to have much in common other than the high school training camps. But gradually, they realized they were quite similar: quiet on the outside but with a passion and fire deep down.
They both loved to read—despite Kiyoko studying business, she was quite knowledgeable about classic literature and the latest bestsellers. They bonded over their love of poetry and music and art history.
They also shared some… bad habits as well. Both drank excessive amounts of caffeine, and neither could hold their liquor very well. They’d go out together expecting to just grab a couple of cocktails at a swanky jazz joint... but would eventually end up at a nightclub, drinking and dancing until 2am.
People often thought they were dating, watching as these two very attractive people made their way through campus attached at the hip. But of course they weren’t.
Keiji, a gay disaster who had been dating Bokuto since the older boy’s high school graduation?
Kiyoko, who had gradually fallen for her underclassman and was trying to find the right time to confess?
No, they weren’t together. Of course not. But their friendship ran deep. By the time Keiji graduated from university, he considered Kiyoko one of his best friends. Which is why, despite living in different prefectures in their mid-20s, they made an effort to meet up when they could. Sometimes for double dates with Bokuto and Tanaka.
Imagine the four of them together: two dark-haired beauties with their energetic lovable boyfriends! Bokuto and Tanaka would always have a blast when they hung out, and they too became closer thanks to their partner’s friendship.
Sometimes they would fall silent, just basking in Keiji and Kiyoko’s beauty as the two sat there, side by side, engrossed in a conversation about some novel or something.
“My fragile bi heart can’t take this,” Bokuto would joke, and Tanaka would just nod.
“Listen I’m pretty sure I’m straight but even I have to agree, dude. Akaashi’s a good looking guy.”
Bokuto laughed. “This wouldn’t be the first time his boyfriend had someone questioning their sexuality!” 😅
//
I dunno what this is really. I just love the idea of Keiji and Kiyoko (aka the prettiest people in Haikyuu) becoming friends and then going on double dates with their sweet buff boyfriends 🥺❤️ If you like reading this please share!!

Mermaid! Kazuha who visits you every other day, bringing you gifts from the bottom of the sea that he thinks will catch your eye. This could range from small, beautiful, and shiny shells that glisten underneath the sun’s rays, or pearls that were left in abandoned ships. You find his gifts to be a lot more pretty than yours. The old, worn-out books that you carry didn’t seem all too special on the surface, but when you see the way his eyes sparkle and shine as you read him stories and poetry, it was a one-of-a-kind experience.
The two of you would sit upon warm rocks which have been basking in the sun’s rays. He would recite poetry to you, and humming a small tune, you would lean your head against his slightly damp shoulder. As your eyes slowly close, you notice the webbing of his fingers. For a moment, you reach out, the tips of your fingers grazing his. He could feel his tail twitch and lap against the waters, feeling intrigued by your actions.
He wouldn’t hesitate to interlace your fingers. He finds the act rather romantic despite how simple it was. He knows that it’s not common for mermaids to form relationships with humans because they were cruel creatures. Humans were always known by the other sea creatures to be rather benevolent or greedy. Trying to find a difference between them can be difficult. Their attitudes change far too much. And it was better for mermaids to stay on guard. They oftentimes sail too far in the hopes of chasing distant dreams. However, he knows that you were different.
The Vision you yield would glisten underneath the sun, shining brightly with ambition. It’s clear as to why the gods recognized you as a symbol of greatness. A kind heart you were, always going out of your way to teach him new things like the luxury of grilled fish. After spending all of his time at the bottom of the ocean, hunting and eating the fish as they were, his mouth was watering at the smell of salted fish. He would have never known that humans had such unique ways of cooking. It made the whole experience of eating a lot more enjoyable.
The day he decided he had fallen in love with you was when you came to him one evening, your hands behind your back as you grinned. He smiled in response, asking you what you were hiding from him, to which you pulled out a fully laminated book. All the pages were wrapped in a sheen of plastic, and he could freely flip through it even with his wet hands. You told him that you felt bad he didn’t have anything to take back with him, and that this was the least you could do.
And at this moment, even with his tail, he leaped into your arms, bringing you down to the ground as you laughed. He nuzzled his nose against yours, a joyous expression stretched across his face, his eyes glimmering like a brilliant, northern star.
“You’re truly something,” He cries out, wiping away at the sand that caked your skin, “Thank you for the gift. I will cherish it until the end of time.”

Special Forces!Yuu x Rook Hunt
Tumblr media
Rook falls in love with a poem
WARNING: My bad poetry.
There were few things that escaped his notice. A loose hair or a loose hare, it makes no difference.
So when he noticed a stray piece of paper left on a desk he examined it.
It was no ordinary slip of paper, it was parchment paper. Not only that the writing was no ordinary scribbling but of finely inked calligraphy. Each word clearly and deliberately crafted for beauty.
And the words.
Oh, the words!
Crisp apple blossoms floated on the breeze
Though the valleys passed the trees
I lay in the shade of a solid oak tasting the honey off bees
But when I awoke I stood on a parapet with my kin folk
Brother in arms
Broken in arms
Blood that spilled before they sounded the alarms.
Before we knew it we were surrounded, bounded, and taken to that farm.
The beauty! The passion! Très bien!
And how fortunate he was to find out that there were other pages scattered around campus. In the cafeteria, the gym, the track field, and the quad. Rook recounted the schedule of his target .
In fields of war, I once did stride, A soldier strong, with heart abide, Where bullets flew and cannons roared, I fought for rights, my country's hoard. With rifle tight, I stood my ground, Against the foe, my courage profound, Their cries and screams, I did not flinch, My duty done, my spirit unbroken. The memories still linger, though the pain, Of loss and cost, my heart doth gain, The comrades fallen, the battles won, The scars of war, forever done. But now, I've left the battlefield, To live a life of peace and heal, The armor off, my heart doth mend, The past, a story to amend. Yet in my dreams, the gunfire rings, The cries of men, the scent of things, The memories of war, they linger on, A past life, forever gone.
Beautiful! Heart wrenching!
The story of a warrior who has laid down their arms. The brilliant continuation of the last more fractured poem. But the ending while filled with solace bares a sense of melancholy. They know that even if they no longer fight the war of the mind goes on.
Truly magnificent!
The next poem was far different from the last few.
In the twilight hours, when shadows dance, I found myself in a whimsical trance, With a pet bunny, mischievous and sly, Whose nature concealed a devilish eye. Oh, this bunny, so small and serene, But beneath that fur, a mischief unseen. A playful sprite, with a wicked smile, A master of pranks, all the while. With nimble paws and a daring mind, This bunny would leave chaos behind. No vase was safe, no curtain spared, As it hopped and leapt, without a care. Its eyes, they gleamed with a fiendish glow, As it plotted its next mischievous show. No toy or treat could quench its thirst, For the thrill of chaos, it was immersed. It would nibble and chew on everything in sight, Leaving a trail of mess, a chaotic delight. The furniture, the carpet, even my shoes, All bore the marks of its playful abuse. Yet, despite all the havoc it would create, I couldn't help but find it truly great. For in its antics, there lay a charm, A reminder that life need not be so harm. For in this bunny's game, I found release, A break from the mundane, a moment of peace. To laugh and play with a creature so wild, Unleashing my spirit, like an innocent child. So, let us not judge this bunny's demeanor, For beneath its mischief lies a lesson much cleaner. To embrace the joy in life's playful spree, And find solace in chaos, wild and free.
Adorable! So cute!
Clearly they have an eye for beauty.
The adoration of something cute but rotten on the inside and finding the charm in it.
Truly they both must be of the same mind and heart. Truly they were the most perfect person for him. He didn't even know anyone who did such unique calligraphy, let alone for poetry. They have the soul of a poet, and a hand of an artist.
The last poem he found had nothing to do with the others. He had followed the trail to a certain Prefect. They had been chasing a rather mischievous rabbit that held a tattered notebook in its mouth.
"Sargent! Put that down!" They yelled trying to wrestle the fluffy beast who jumped up in down in challenge.
They rabbit sprinted off leaving a flutter of papers behind and another poem.
In the golden glow of the setting sun, I stood on a hilltop, my journey done. Silent and still, I watched the scene unfold, A beautiful blonde hunter, brave and bold. His eyes, like emeralds, pierced the twilight air, A hunter's gaze, both gentle and aware. Golden locks cascading, kissed by the breeze, A vision of strength and quiet expertise. He moved with grace through the thick undergrowth, A nimble predator, embodying both The wild and the tender, the fierce and the kind, A paradox of nature, perfectly aligned. His steps were whispers on the forest floor, As he pursued his prey, a dance of lore. I marveled at his skill, his focused might, His connection with the land, his primal sight. With every breath, his spirit seemed to soar, A symbiotic bond, forevermore. Nature's child, protector of the wild, His presence, a testament, both meek and mild. The sunlight danced upon his fair skin, A radiant glow, a halo from within. His heart beating in tune with the earth's song, A harmony of strength, where he belonged. In that fleeting moment, my soul took flight, Transfixed by his beauty, his essence of light. A hunter, yes, but so much more I saw, A guardian of nature, a lover of awe. As darkness fell and the moon took its place, I couldn't help but feel a sense of grace. For in that encounter, I glimpsed a truth, That beauty can be found in strength and youth. So, I'll forever cherish that sight I beheld, Of a beautiful blonde hunter, in the wild he dwelled. And in my heart, his memory will reside, A gentle reminder of nature's untamed stride.
Rook felt his ears turn red as he read. To think the one he had been looking for and the one he had his eye on had been looking back at him all this time.
Before he got ahead of himself he found another paper.
He strutted with confidence, his charm on display, With golden locks that shimmered like the sun's ray, But oh, how his presence grated on my nerves, Like a relentless itch that never subserves. He spoke in honeyed words, with a silver tongue, Each syllable crafted, every sentence well-spun, But beneath the surface, I sensed a shallow depth, A facade of perfection, a veiled masquerade adept. His eyes, so green, held a glimmer of deceit, A spark that hinted at a hidden conceit, He thought himself the epitome of grace, A prize to be won, a trophy to embrace. Yet, in all his glory, he failed to see, The annoyance that grew within me, For beauty alone cannot captivate the soul, It takes substance and character to make one whole. With each passing encounter, my patience wore thin, His incessant flattery, his persistent grin, I longed for authenticity, for genuine connection, Not a superficial bond built on mere affection. But he remained oblivious to my growing disdain, Blinded by his own ego, immune to my pain, And so, I resolved to escape his shallow allure, To find solace in a world where honesty was pure. For beauty fades, like petals withering away, And true worth lies in the heart, not in a face so cliché, So, I bid farewell to the blonde suitor's charm, And sought a deeper love, one that would disarm. No longer annoyed by his superficiality, I embraced the freedom of my own individuality, For a beautiful soul, devoid of pretense, Is far more captivating, far more immense.
Rook wasn't one to be sensitive but this one actually hurt. They thought he was shallow, and not genuine in his love for beauty.
He had his work cut out for him. He would correct this problem.
Perhaps with a poem.

Fallen Hero Fanzine 2024 - Info and Theme Poll
All info is under the cut since I don't want to clutter your dash too much! EDIT: Tumblr hates multiple choices for Polls apparently, you can vote but also write in replies (or send anonymous through dm, but please don't send multiple of the same option to get what you want, let's keep it fair!) if you want to vote for more than one option! (Sorry for the inconvenience!)
Hi everyone!
Since I got the feedback on the interest check for a possible Fallen Hero Fanzine it seems like we have some interest and I’ve been looking into various ways we could do this. As I’m big on collaboration and everyone getting a say, I was thinking that deciding on a theme for the zine could be our first collaborative step.
I’ve made a poll (found further down in this post) with 7 options for you to vote on. Descriptions/explanations are found right below the poll so make sure to read those before casting your vote. We’re keeping this first zine sfw, please keep that in mind if suggesting themes of your own. Voting doesn’t tie you to contributing to the zine.
Jumping into something headfirst without knowing what you’ll find on the other side is scary, that’s why I’ve written a short list of what I have in mind for this zine.
The zine will be 100% free and non-profit, this also means no compensation for the contributors. Theme: TBD through majority vote Number of contributors: Max 30 (I would love to have more but, unless someone can help me with admin stuff, I think that’s my limit for how much organising and planning I can do on my own). Rating: SFW. Innuendos, cursing, violence and the like is okay but not straight up sex. Format: Digital/e-zine, with permission to print at home for personal use only. I will put together a bonus version made for easy to print at home, with instructions for how to assemble it. Media types allowed: Any visual media suited for print as long as it’s your own (e.g. illustrations, sketches, photography, collages, short comics, cosplay etc). Keep in mind that if you make a collage or mood board, all pictures must be your own (or have the rights to). Any writing as long as it’s your own (e.g. short stories, poetry, analyses, personal anecdotes etc). Pages in zine per contributor: 2. Time frame and deadlines: TBD but I plan on us having it finished around September/October of 2024, with some reservations.
I hope this has been informative so far, if you have questions you can either reply to this post (so everyone else can see the question and reply), or dm me if you want to be anonymous.
Now, let’s get to voting on a theme! Descriptions for themes under the poll.
Nemesis - More action focused, showdowns, heroes and villains battling it out in their suits! Some softer moments could fit in here as well but if too many opt towards it I might steer some of the submissions to make sure the zine in whole stays on theme. Coming Home - New beginnings, finding your place. It could be sweet and cozy, finding friends, or stepping into your own skin for the first time. Interpret as you like, but the main focus should be on the concept of “home”, whatever that means to you or the characters you choose to portray. Los Diablos - Snippets and snapshots from the city and lives you are sworn to protect or destroy. HG’s lair, Herald’s apartment, or a sewer (sorry, secret base), as well as the people found in these places. Nightmares - The bad vibes (tm) one. The Heartbreak Incident, decanting, paranoia, all the nasty bits you don’t want people to find. This one is open to more possible body horror than the other themes. Ship specific - Pick this one if you want a more romance focused theme, and specify in replies which characters you’d want in centre. Please write Ship Theme before the characters in your reply. I have another idea! - Got an idea for a theme that isn’t in the poll? Pick this one and specify in replies what it is! Please specify even if someone has the same idea, or close to, as you. Please write Theme Suggestion before the theme in your reply. No theme - Don’t feel like sticking to a theme? Want to create an amalgamation of everyone’s mind stuff without any limits or guidelines? This choice is for you.

bundletober #13: blazing hymn
alright i've fallen behind on bundletober (the series of blog posts where i review and talk about a ttrpg i got in a bundle every day) and am hoping to make up the difference by putting out two entries today. this is the first one, and i'm looking at the mecha-piloting, synthetic-armour wearing, blaspheming-against-God-and-his-angels game blazing hymn by peach garden games.
Tumblr media
now sadly this game is not a lyric/blackout poetry game about rewriting church hymns to be about gay sex. someone should make that btw. no it's just about wearing highly advanced battlesuits powered by the song of your heart to kill aliens with weapons of pure energy. which is about as cool.
first off, the layout of this game is unique and stylish. there are hexagons everywhere:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the game puts sparse splashes of dreamy pastel colours amid a constantly shifting set of black and white hexagons. it gives the book a visual identity that is at once both visually distinct and also changing massively from page to page. it's a really cool way to mix things up and keep you wanting to turn the page if just to keep seeing what the next one even looks like.
what's the game about? simple. angels have come to earth to destroy it badly. with the power of song, young people can power specially designed battlesuits, called Hymnals, that when not activated collapse down into crystal necklaces. it's a pretty anime concept--the game is pretty open about being inspired by Evangelion and Symphogear, neither of which i've actually seen--but it's cool as hell. the aesthetics of the layout really help bring the aesthetics of the game itself, of technology and ethereal mysticism merged into one thing, to life.
the game uses a pretty simple three-stat system where you build dice pools with a state relevant to an action and can get a full success, mixed success, or failure, depending on what you roll. your characters have two resources, Health, which is what it sounds like, and Gain, which is essentially magical power. because you can swap Health for Gain and Gain for Health at a 1-1 ratio with no restrictions, i'm not really sure why they're separate things--seems like a missed opportunity to not only simplify the mechanics but also create a strong mechanical narrative element by making Gain the only thing that keeps you going--once your song is silenced, you're out.
to create a character, you pick from one of six unit classes--here's where i'd describe the six classes, but honestly, they don't quite feel distinct enough. a lot of the powers you can pick for each hymnal class feel very similar, or are outright overlapping in a lot of cases. this isn't necessarily a bad thing, but the descriptions of the hymnals, while trying to clarify their combat roles, all end up seeming to repeat themselves or say contradictory things. i think some direct ties between those descriptions and their mechanics would have helped--i'd find it a lot easier to remember that, for example, the 05 Xyston type "brutal in combat" if that flavour text was followed by a direct reference to one or more of its abilities. they do all have pretty different stats--which, in a game with a very simple and elegant combat system, means i'm confident they play very differently once you hit the table. but just looking at them, as a prospective player, i struggle to tell the difference.
i don't have that problem with the next character creation mechanic, though, which is choosing the songs you sing to power your hymnal. each song, as well as a thematically appropriate set of stat boosts, also prompts a pair of revealing character questions. they're the kind of mechanic that i want to get my hands on because they make it fun to create characters, giving real mechanical expression to the emotional fundamentals of who they are.
Tumblr media
the combat system itself seems really, really good. it's astoundingly simple--you're encouraged to use a map, but there's no fiddly grid or distance tracking, just the ability to move between being Close, Near, or Far from an enemy. it keeps the numbers low to keep it getting silly and doesn't bother with any of the unecessary bookkeeping and fiddliness that plagues TTRPG combat as a whole. no initiative, no separate turns--there's a 'player' turn and a GM turn, and during the GM turn the GM picks from enemy's listed actions until they've done two for each player. players can use their abilities on the GM turn, and the game encourages the GM to take enemy actions that wil lforce them to--so nobody's ever standing around twiddling their thumbs waiting for the whole table to rotate back to them, and having a lot of enemies doesn't mean the players listen to the GM talk for fifteen minutes.
there's two unique mechanics that i think are very interesting-- Civilians and Condemnation. Civilians are--well, exactly what they sound like. on their turn, players can use an action to evacutate up to 5 of them. this extremely small and simple mechanic is fucking genius. so many games tell you they're about saving innocent people, but yet the only mechanical verbs you have to interact with anyone are violent ones. as elaine scarry says in the body in pain:
Tumblr media
so in a way i think blazing hymn puts its money where its mouth is in a way very few combat rpgs with emancipatory or heroic aspirations bother. angels are said to attack populated areas--you're sent to preserve life as well as destroy the enemy. it makes the game feel fundamentally different, like despite the questionable ethics of hymnals (after all, they only work on young people, who then have to be sent into deadly combat situations) there is something heroic you can do.
the second cool mechanic is condemnation, a reality-warping toxin that angels use to destroy the places they're sent to. this rocks because it adds a ticking timer to the battlefield, a passive threat that forces the player characters to be proactive. if condemnation gets too high, not only is the fight going to get harder, but civilians are going to die en masse. it's a great piece of game design that gives the GM a great lever to pull for pacing and urgency.
i also really like that one of the steps of the GM turn is to 'change the situation', whether that means something happens in the narrative or something on the map changes (a train arriving is the example the book gives) or more angels attack. in general, one of my biggest complaitns about d&d is that unless a DM takes it upon themselves to design additional mechanics and encounters outside of anything the game actually gives them, combat inevitably turns into two lines of people hitting each other with sticks until one of them dies. i love dynamic, progressing combat, combat where the stakes change moment to moment. and blazing hymn delivers.
anything else? oh yeah, the angel designs are cool as fuck.
Tumblr media
god damn. anyway despite a few minor issues with the hymnals themselves, the core of blazing hymnal is fucking good, a nice tight and razor-sharp combat system wrapped up in pulsing pastel crystalline aesthetics. if you like cool anime fights and like having the rules to back it up but hate complexity, crunch, and tedium, this might be the perfect game for you. it's certainly given me a lot of cool design ideas to take foreward into my own projects.
blazing hymn is available for purchase as a digital download through itch.io

so @dpshemma made this post and i, uh, had some emotions about it
Peter gingerly crawls through his office window half an hour or so before dawn, trying not to jostle the ribs he hopes are just bruised, or pull at the (thankfully) shallow knife wound across his flank.
Of course, he fails at both, because apparently it's just that kind of morning, and he ends up sitting on the floor just below the window sill, trying to remember all the reasons sleeping on the floor in clothes that currently are more rainwater than fabric would be a bad idea.
He wants to sigh, but he's not even allowed to pity himself properly, ribs twinging in warning at even the shallowest of breaths, and he's forced to admit that the broken ribs theory seems increasingly plausible.
After an eternity (or five minutes, he's not sure), he carefully rises to his feet and staggers into the apartment, trying to shimmy out of his clothes with the least amount of movement.
The coat has just landed on the floor with an unpleasant wet slapping noise when Peter notices that there's something on his desk that definitely wasn't there when he left a day and a half ago.
Perched in an apothecary bottle sits a single flower, so bright with crackling, unnatural color that it almost seems to glow in the heavy gloom of the office.
He limps over, reaching out with the arm not cradling his ribs, and delicately lifts the flower out of the bottle.
The rose is not from some botanist's greenhouse; too small and crooked, with so many wicked little thorns that if he wasn't wearing gloves, his blood would be coating the stem. No, this is a wild and hardy thing, the kind you pick, not buy.
He lifts the flower to his face, close enough that he has to close his eyes against the shifting riot of reds and pinks, and breathes in deep.
It smells very little like a rose; the floral fragrance overshadowed by other scents. It smells of London smog, tobacco stained fingers, sweet oil, and wool blanket.
Peter smiles, returning the flower to the bottle and bringing it with him to the bedroom.
There is a lamp glowing softly on the bedside table, and a lanky, beloved body sprawled on the bed.
Hobie is breathing softly, arms wrapped around Peter's pillow, a book of poetry fallen open on the blankets under one hand.
Carefully, Peter sets the flower next to the lamp, puts away Hobie's book, and sits down at the side of the bed.
At the dip of the mattress, Hobie shifts in his sleep, moving closer, and when Peter strokes his knuckles along his cheek, he turns his face into the touch, chasing it.
Peter's mask and hat hit the floor, and mindful of the ribs, he leans down to press a kiss against Hobie's temple.
"Luv?" Hobie murmurs, voice raspy with sleep, eyes blinking open to look at him. "You look like shite."
"Thanks," Peter says with a fond chuckle. "Mind moving over a bit?"
Peter strips out of his sweater and shirt, while Hobie shuffles over and holds the blankets up for when Peter finally swings his legs, pants and boots and all, onto the bed.
"You're bloody cold," Hobie complains, even as he wraps his sleep warm limbs around Peter like an octopus and buries his face in the crook of his neck. "This what happens when you're unrealistically tall. Absolutely shite circulation."
Peter chuckles, wrapping one arm around Hobie's shoulders.
"Good thing I have you around, then."
"Luckiest bloke on earth," he agrees.
Peter reaches out to turn the lamp off, and in the sudden dark, the rose smoulders with strange, vivid color.
"Yeah," Peter murmurs, Hobie's sleeping breath hot against his skin. "Yeah, I think I might be."

gay people please start reading more poetry this movie is partially about poetry and i love that aspect but feel like no one cares and i think you can get so much more from the film by having an understanding of poetry like isn't it crazy that neil called todd walt whitman when whitman was gay. and that was a pretty big deal in his time too. and i love whitman like im so ginsberg coded (ONLY IN THIS SPECIFIC WAY OKAY-). ginsberg used to be so proud that he slept with men that slept with men that slept with whitman. BRAM STOKER WHO WROTE DRACULA WAS OBSESSED WITH LEAVES OF GRASS AND LITERALLY WROTE WHITMAN LETTERS UNTIL THEY WERE ABLE TO MEET. like i know none of that is related i just really like poetry. and i make these references i just think yall should read more poetry if you like the movie! not in a gatekeep-y like oh you can't like this movie unless you like poetry but in a i think you'll like these poems BECAUSE you like the movie. and again!! what if i told you o captain! my captain! lowkey could be foreshadowing to neil's death. sure it's about abraham lincoln but like. "fallen cold and dead". and if you ever see them announce a dps sequel where ethan hawke runs around quoting howl then you KNOW it was me because the beats go SO WELL with keating's ideas! rejecting this strict and rigid idea of poetry!! pushing boundaries!! being gay communists just after ww2!! how do i explain that i am not trying to be pretentious or act like i'm so cool cuz i read poetry, i just want others to as well!!!!!!! no one's ass is gonna read all this MY BAD

The Story of Live Action BL in Japan
This is an extra post to accompany the history of BL post I did earlier.
Japan has had live action BL long before Thailand entered the picture. It was however mostly melancolic stories or manga adaptations, until their own particular boom happened. I make a difference between what I would call LGBTQ+ representation and BL Live Action, because even though they have existed parallely they are fundamentally different in their conception. Here is an interview with the curator of an exhibition that was held in Japan about the history of Japanese Queer Cinema.
The evolution of Japanese BL Live Action has been very slow, and mostly influenced by manga. It is still not a big market, but it has improved a lot in the most recent years. This is my attempt to put it into phases:
The indie like movies and bad manga adaptations
Let’s start with Boys Love (a movie), shall we?
It is the year 2006 and up to this point there has been a small boom of gay stories in the 1990′s (the first Tokyo International Lesbian & Gay Film & Video Festival was held in 1992 me thinks this might have sprung the yaoi debates). In the 2000's, we're at the start of a new little boom on BL type movies being made. Many of which would be directly released in DVD, with a constant melancholic and tragic approach to love stories between young men.
Homosexual love is only attarctive to the mainstream if it’s painful. Like typical japanese imposible loves that are explored because of the passion and innevitable tragedy (it’s a japanese trope of almost any kind of romance movie, up to these days). its the intensity of feelings and the poetry of it all. In Boys Love we see those elements that are now very common in BL manga. Straight men falling in love with beautiful young boys and loving them until their tragic end. The movie was released in theatres and was successful enough to get a sequel. Here is a very good review of the movie, to know more about it.
A number of similar movies (with happier endings) follow through. Then enters the Takumi kun series. Based off one of the most popular yaoi novel (and potentially the first live action novel/manga adaptation of BL), it has all the June tropes: Traumatized feminine Takumi, raped by his older brother when he was young, has developped an abberation to human touch which prevents him from making friends. He goes to a boarding school for rich kids where he shares a dorm room with Gii, the most popular kid on the premises, who has fallen in love with him. And it is through that love that Takumi gets over his illness and heals from his past. It was such a success in the BLsphere that it got 4 more movies. I believe it is the bane of @absolutebl existence.
After the first Takumi-kun movie, the production of BL type movies, or adaptations of manga gets a boost. We go from no more than 3 movies a year to 8 in 2008, ie:
Kindan no Koi Ai no Kotodama Taiikukan Baby
And so it continues. When a manga is popular enough it either gets a Live Action, a drama CD (voice actors record the manga dialogues) or/and a series of OVAs (Original Video Animation). Because that’s how they do marketing in Japan. I believe most, if not all, of these movies go straight to DVD. It’s a treat for the fans.
The beginning of the shift
As the manga source starts to evolve, so does the live actions. Japanese society starts being more aware of the LGBT (as the term is used for business startegy purposes). As it’s all about what is going to sell, slowly, a slight neutral realism starts to be felt. Melancoly starts to be replaced with happier moods.
The first adaptation I genienly enjoyed at the time was Seven Days, 2015. A 2 part movie, adapted from the manga, with a very simple story (still no characters properly defined as gay, but maybe they could count as bi?)
While more LGBTQ+ movies get made, the BL Live Action movies remain in the same vein. Adpating what is popular and sticking to the tropes of the time. For example, in 2017 we get simultaneously:
BL - Hidamari ga Kikoeru. A loud and energetic college student becomes friends with a hearing impared classmate, as he helps him take notes for class.
LGBT - Close Knit. An 11 year old girl gets tossed aside by her mother and goes to live with her uncle, who is dating a transgender woman.
The Middle Aged Man Phenomenon
Have you wondered why office settings are so popular in japanese BL? Well, it is mostly Ossan’s Love fault in my opinion.
Besides office romances being a staple of japanese tv dramas, in 2016 two major mainstream actors (Tanaka Kei and Yoshida Kotaro) participate in a small short film about a salaryman who discovers his boss is in love with him. A simple comedy filled with misunderstandings and funny shenanigans. As the response to it was very positive, they decided to turn it into a full flegged series. And so, Ossan’s Love comes out on prime television (TV Asahi) for all to see. It is the first time we see a story like this being shown in a mainstream channel, for all and anyone to see.
A year later after the success of Ossan’s Love we get the wonderful Kinou Nani Tabeta/What Di you Eat Yesterday? (2019), which would not have been possible without Ossan’s Love. There was confidence that there was a market for such a story. Followed by the OL movie: Ossan’s Love: Love or Dead. Which was later followed by a horrible horrible second season that nobody wanted. On this year too, Mood Indigo comes out. A sequel to The Novelist/Pornographer, which would secure it’s popularity. It later got a second season.
We are now in a second boom of interest in queer stories. And the number of movies and tv shows grow. Some of the most known:
Novel adaptation - Fujoshi Ukkari gay ni kokoru LGBT Movies - His Dramas - Life: Senjou no Bokura
Queer voices have been increasingly loud and, in 2015, two municipalities put in place a partnership to acknowledge same sex relationships (not recognized outside of those municipalities unfortunately).
And so, start mixing the homophobia free idealized stories, with more diverse queer content, with the harsh realities of LGBTQ+ people, and the cinematic interest of the filmmakers/directors.
The rise of the salaryman and the thai breakthrought
Thanks to the appeal of middle aged men, Japan now knows there’s a market to be had in producing BLs, so the adaptations sprout like mushrooms. The ground is ready to bear fruit, and so enters thailand with the big success of 2gether at the beginning of 2020.
Japan got to have the movie screened in their theatres. Thailand has broken the Japanese market barrier, as soon as the borders open after the pandemic, fanmeetings are held there one after the other.
And then, we get Cherry Magic in late 2020, which continues to cement that the current japanese BL boom is still going strong.
The Aftermath
The production of BL shows and movies reaches its peak and we get 26 (shows and movies) in 2022. Movies, specials and second seasons are being made.
From Utsukushii Kare 2021 to Strange 2023. Old and new manga gets an adapation and more queer representation grows in media overall.
The story of LGBT representation in shows in Japan
As an extra, I want to put here a few examples of how queer characters, and stories have entered the mainstream of japanese tv dramas. Many mainstream actors have also taken upon portraying such characters.
Pretty Proofreader (2016) - featured a gay side character, not relevant to the plot.  My Brother’s Husband (2018) mini series - adaptation of Gengoroh Tagame’s manga about a man overcoming his homophobia through getting to know his bother’s husband Life As A Girl (2018) mini series - the life of a lesbian trans woman  Ie Uru Onna S2 (2019) - one episode features different types of LGBT people who want to buy a house and the difficulties they face. Also had some type of side gay stoyline (a little queerbaity)? Ore no Sukato, doko Itta? (2019) - a gay man who dresses as a woman becomes a teacher at a highschool and helps with his is student’s problems.
Special mention to Residential Complex (2018).
A drama that featured 4 families living in the same residential unit, each with their own fundamental problems. The father in the traditional japanese family was unemployed, the man engaged to a younger second wife who wanted no children ends up having to take care of his son from his previous marriage, the young newlyweds that are eager to have kids can’t concieve and the single architect is actually living with his boyfriend. It was a show that had worked with an LGBT organization to make a faithful protrayal of LGBT realities.
Final Thoughts
Here is a list of all Japanese BL and Queer media, Japanese BL list. I recommend to check it out to see the variety of adaptations being made today. It is intersting to see the differences in plot in the shows that are adapting current manga (Our Dining Table) and those adapting older manga (Candy Color Paradox). There is also a lot of queer movies and shows worth checking out. Here are my recommendations:
Kamisama no Ekohiiki (series)
Both Me and Him are the Grooms (movie)
I think it is great that Japan is intergrating queer stories and voices to their BLs, as well as adapting more content to the screen. It is a very exciting moment to be living through, but it still feels like it might go away just as fast as it came. Japan is a very conservative country, that embraces change so very slowly. Queer vocies are making noise, but they have yet to manage to make their government listen. Japan is very setback in this sense.
I do no think Japan will be able to have a BL market similar to Thailand for its live action adaptations any time soon. They stick to what they know, which sometimes can be very good and others, bad.
I do hope for BL to keep on doing what it does best for society: subtly normalizing queer lives so that conservative people start welcoming the idea that they're just regular people (who deserve rights, come on Japan).
Hopefully we’re headed there.

hi! i’m new here. sending asks feels like barging into your figurative living room so sorry if this is bothersome. i wanted to tell u i enjoy your works so very much. you have a way with words that leaves me so caught up in your storylines but also motivated to try my hand at creating something myself.
not sure if you answered already or if you even felt like sharing so my bad if this is repetitive or invasive but what did you study for your bachelor’s and master’s? also how do you juggle writing with a busy schedule? it seems so insurmountable. lastly do you have any fave books and poems? or any top recommendations? :)
again i am sorry if this is bothersome but i just wanted to impress upon you how taken i am with your writing. its all highly emotive. i wasnt even a COD fan but somehow stumbled across your work and i have fallen down the rabbit hole this past week. i look forward to reading whatever you put out next and hopefully supporting the ko-fi very soon. you have a gift, i hope to see you officially published one day 💫
Hi hi!!! It’s not troublesome at all, don’t worry! I really appreciate anything that gets sent to me, even when I get too overwhelmed to respond.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate that 😭
I went to school for English lit!!! I used to say that it never got put to good use because my current job doesn’t involve it at all, but I guess I do sort of use it for writing fanfics. Juggling stuff is hard! My job is luckily not very busy so I can write a lot on company time lmao and otherwise I write in the evenings or on weekends when I’m not busy.
I’m on mobile right now so I can’t link the previous recommendation lists I’ve made for books, but off the top of my head for poetry - anything by Anne Carson or Frank Bidart, and for fiction, Neil gaiman (so much fun)!
I hope you end up writing something!!! It’s so good for working on your craft and it’s, in my opinion, the best way to connect with people online and make friends!!
