Okay SO. Theory Rush after finishing Tears of the Kingdom. Go.
The Zonai are said to have descended from the heavens to help found Hyrule. I can think of another race that descended from the heavens. Do you guys think the minish are native to the Zonai sky islands?
Does the Depths set look a little familiar to you? This along with Josha's theory that people once lived down there, I wonder if the interlopers were present in the Depths before being banished to the twilight realm.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The architecture and robot designs from Skyward Sword have a distinct Zonai look to them! So that leads me to believe the Zonai were the race that created the Lanayru Mining Facility.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It might even be that the Past from Skyward Sword is indeed the time period that Zelda was transported back to! Maybe the legacy of the kingdom of Hyrule goes back even further than the fight between Hylia and Demise: though I admit the early appearance of Demon King Ganondorf throws a wrench in this theory.
About secret stones and the amber relics in Skyward Sword: I want to say there's a connection between them, though amber relics don't seem to be as rare and important as secret stones, (we find them in abundance in Skyward Sword and they don't do much). Of course, i haven't played SS in a while so if they have any more significance it's escaping me at the moment. For the time being I'd like to think ancient hylians might have carried them around as good luck charms to emulate secret stones of their own.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Legend of the Great Sky Island mini quest in has the construct telling us that the island was supposed to be where a hero will one day awaken to defeat the Demon King. I know our Link wakes up on this island, but there's definitely something eating at my brain about the Great Sky Island being related to (or perhaps even IS) Skyloft, and that the awakening of the hero is referring to Skyward Sword Link. (This potentially supports the theory that the Past in TOTK predates the war between Hylia and Demise)
There's a pretty good chance that Rauru and Sonia's child could have been named Zelda, after the sweet time traveling girl they practically adopted :) the first princess of Hyrule named after the last princess of Hyrule.
There is a giant dragon skeleton in the Gerudo Desert Depths, big as or even bigger than Farosh, Dinraal and Naydra. It is my belief that this mystery dragon became a dragon ala Secret Stone alongside the three aboveland, but was killed at some point in the Depths. I don't know what four people decided to become dragons, but my strongest theory is that Dinraal, Farosh and Naydra are the draconified forms of the oracles of the Golden Goddesses, Din, Farore and Nayru. So who is this?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Seeing as the Lightroots underground are activated via Zonai hand terminal and each Lightroot lies directly beneath a shrine on the surface, I think the Lightroots are extensions of these shrines, having grown straight downward to light up the underground. This is probably obvious but I just barely figured this out 😅
Since Rauru, sage of light, and a new Temple of Time are in this game, I want to think that this person and location are more than just Easter Eggs to Ocarina of Time. I think that the sage from Ocarina of Time was named after King Rauru, though I'm not sure whether him being the sage of light would have been a coincidence or a direct inspiration.
What I do think is that he indeed did put the triforce in that very same Temple of Time and all the sky islands went to the Sacred Realm until Tears of the Kingdom, when they came back to earth and appeared in the sky. That's just a theory but why else would the sky islands be reappearing as if from nowhere?
Speaking of which, there were floating masses in the sky in Minish Cap, namely great big stone temples and fortresses. Minish Cap takes place during the early days of Hyrule, which would be pretty much right after the Zonai descended. Perhaps the Zonai are the Wind Tribe mentioned, and the people we see in game are their descendants, who look much more hylian than Zonai due to being crossed with full hylian genetics over the generations?
Anyway I need to retouch up on my Zelda lore to make sure I'm getting the details right, (that, and i haven't yet 100% the game so i may be missing some totk context), but I HAD to post my thoughts and get them out there! I'll add on later if I think of any more, in the meantime feel free to brainstorm!

Thoughts on giving critiques to comics artists.
Seeing lots of discussion from students about sour experiences with an unhelpful art teacher, so here's a long, long post about giving critiques.
NB: I have no formal training as a teacher, but I was a student, and I've spent decades giving artists feedback on their work.
When someone brings me a portfolio, I like to establish my limitations & clarify my perspective. My work is firmly rooted in traditional US comics storytelling (i.e., not manga or art-comics.) I can give feedback on other approaches but they should know where I’m coming from.
“We've only got a little time for this, so I'm going to spend that time focusing on things to correct. That doesn't mean you're doing everything wrong, or that there’s nothing good here, but it’ll be more helpful if I identify some problems and show you how to fix them.”
Why? Because for many young artists their entire sense of self worth is wrapped up in being good at what they do. (It was for me!) In school they were probably the best artist in their peer group. But now if they're hoping to turn pro, they’re at the bottom.
Sometimes you know what’s up when you see page 1, but try to keep an open mind. Some build their portfolios by sticking new pages at the back & don’t weed out the old stuff up front, so the work gets better as you go. When it’s like that I ask: “Show me your best 8 pages.”
I ask questions: "What's the goal? Do you want to be hired to work on someone else's project, or to get the story you're showing me here published?"
If 1, I steer towards a portfolio that'll showcase hirable skills. If 2, I look for what tweaks will make that particular story more effective.
"Do you have teachers giving you regular feedback? What are they telling you?" Sometimes a student is getting bad advice. In cases like that, I'll do my best to be extra clear WHY I'm giving them advice that's 180 degrees from what they've been hearing.
“What artists are you looking at? Is there someone you admire or try to emulate?” This often helps me understand choices they're making, and I can sometimes incorporate things those artists do into my suggestions.
I ask myself questions about what I’m seeing. First: Is there a narrative? If not, I make it 100% clear I'm not speaking as any sort of expert. I'm good at critiquing storytelling, but don't have anywhere near as much to offer illustrators or designers.
Can I follow the story? Or am I confused about what's going on? Are the characters and settings drawn consistently? If not, is the artist at least making use of tags (distinctive clothing, hair etc.) to keep the characters recognizable?
Does the artist demonstrate a good command of basic academic drawing? If not, Do I think they need it? Do I focus on "how to draw" or on "what to do when you can't draw?" Is the artist putting the viewer’s eye where it needs to be to tell the story effectively?
(At this point I’m usually doing little doodles to go with my instructions. I scribble out ugly little 5 second diagrams that I hope will clarify what I’m talking about. Or they might make me seem demented. Hard to say!)
Is the artist making choices that are creating more work than necessary? Is there a particular weakness? I once spoke to an artist with a portfolio full of great work when he was drawing animals and monsters, but his humans were amateurish in comparison. I spent that critique talking about drawing people.
A crit can be a grab bag. In addition to big-picture advice, I'll point out tangencies, violations of the 180-degree rule, wonky anatomy, weird perspective, places where the artist neglected to do important research, odd choices in how they spotted black, whatever catches my eye.
I also try to make a point of defining the terms, so that jargon like “tangency,” “180-degree rule,” and “spotting black” don't go over their heads. Find simple, concrete ways to talk about these things, & clarify why it's a problem when they aren't done correctly. Draw diagrams!
Recognize that even a perfectly phrased explanation might not sink in. Some lessons can only be learned when a student is ready, and it might take a year or two of work before they can understand what you were saying. It's good to plant seeds.
Are there other artists who are particularly good at solving the problems the student is trying to solve? I steer them towards that artist's work. And I always recommend life drawing & the use of reference to give work variety and authority.
Despite what I said earlier about focusing on what's wrong, I try at the end to find something encouraging to say. And if I’ve really piled on the criticism, I emphasize that I only spent the time and energy to do so because I take their efforts seriously.
If I've done my job right, they'll leave my table with tools to make their work better. And maybe in a few years they'll be looking at some younger artist's work, surprised to discover just how much you can learn when you're asked to teach.

Starter GPose: Lighting 101 - GPose controls
Tumblr media
It's hard to overstate how important lighting is for photography in general- and the same applies to gpose shots.
This is a huge topic, so let's start with the basics!
GPose Controls
There are 3 different kinds of lighting control available when in gpose: Global, Character, and Points.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Global illumination is controlled by the manual brightness adjustment slider. This is equivalent, in real-life photography, to exposure. Character lightning has no real-life equivalent, but may be thought of as a brightness control that only influences characters and similar entities (minions, NPCs, and enemies, for example.)
GPose also gives you 3 point light sources that can be used to emulate the 3-point lighting traditional method for illuminating a subject.
Tumblr media
Positioning a source isn't exactly intuitive: A source is placed exactly where the camera is at the moment it is toggled. So to place it you need to move the camera to the desired position, and then enable it by toggling its button.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oddly enough, these points do NOT project shadows. (in fact, a great deal of 'glowy' elements don't, like weapons and armor.) But you can use this fact for great effects!
Tumblr media
You can, for example, create shots with perfect dark backgrounds by strategically placing gpose light points behind objects that do not block the emitted light. You can learn more about this technique here:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ok, so where was I? Oh, right- lighting!
Let's play around with what we just learned then. Here's a default setup for a scene: Notice that the ceiling light *do* project shadows, but it's kinda low-res. So let's set ambient light to zero and control the shades ourselves.
Tumblr media
Some rotation and gshade filters from Neneko Colors for better luminance, color, and model shades. It's better - but still looks pretty flat.
Tumblr media
We want to pop the character out, so let's add some highlights and rim lights. First, the hair: let's give it a lustrous shine. Camera up top and a slightly bluish point.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now the weapon. Remember that the item itself doesn't emit light? so let's place another point with the same tone as the weapon to illuminate Louise. To her left and behind her, slightly distant so as to project on her legs as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And finally, a directional key light to help illuminate her face.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her model is still too dark, so let's use the character lighting control to help with that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now let's make the whole scene a bit brighter. Change the brightness adjustment slider to manual mode, and bring it up as needed.
Tumblr media
This should be a good point to compare the initial setup with our results so far, showing how much basic gpose lighting can enhance a shot.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now that you know how it's done, it's easy to see how some of my poses were set up! Here's one with a yellow source top-right, an orange source bottom-right, and a dim white source to the left of Louise:
Tumblr media
Or this one: A very bright white source to the left (and a bit to the front), and a dim bluish/purplish source to the bottom right. Notice how much Louise pops out of the scene.
Tumblr media
Next, I'll talk about exterior shots, fixture light sources, and other neat things.
(This guide is part of a series that I'm migrating from Twitter since Tumblr offers much better options for formatting and editing, and taking the opportunity to also update images and references. Let me know if you have any questions!)

The plant asks are a soul feeding lifesaver thank you 🙏. Can I get a ~Marigold~ for all the lovebrush boys?
Plant Ask Prompt List
🌻marigold: how jealous do they get? how do they react when they get jealous?
Alkaid
Whenever Alkaid feels jealous he's never angry towards you or the other person, thinking it's an internal problem that he needs to sort out. Is he feeling this way because he has a hunch that he's lacking? Should he take notes of what the other person is doing and emulate it to make you happy? In a way he puts you in a pedestal since he places a great deal of trust on you and nothing is ever your fault, pointing the blame to himself if something goes wrong. He will still step in if he notices you're beginning to get uncomfortable, but it takes a while before his mind completely clears up. Later on he will bring it up and then apologize, vowing to do better next time so he doesn't feel that way again, not quite realizing that being jealous on occasion is normal and he shouldn't take it as a bad thing as long as he never goes too far.
Ayn
Ayn tries not to let the jealousy get to him most of the time but it can't be helped that there are days where the little things can set him off: it happens when the other person stands too close to you, talking to you too familiarly, even worse if they're touchy as if they have no concept of boundaries. At the very least he makes an attempt to keep the jealousy under control by deflecting, letting you know beforehand that you're responsible for your actions and there's no way in hell he is going to leave you room for forgiveness if you choose to make advances, regardless if you meant it as a joke or not. Admittedly it's not the best method to keep his thoughts at bay, but it does the job. Afterwards you'll notice that he is pouty which is not something a few reassurances can't fix.
Cael
Cael has never really felt it before due to his upbringing so when the jealousy surfaces for the first time, he isn't sure how to categorize the emotion. All he knows is it makes him see red and the sudden urge to deal with the other person through any means possible is overwhelming his senses. Considering how much it would take for him to get to the point of jealousy, it also takes a while for him to calm down, and his thoughts of how to keep you away from all harm (both figuratively and literally) are getting sorted into the part of his brain that consists of actions he should never act upon no matter what. Ultimately, his jealousy is rare and unfamiliar, so strong that can make him act purely on impulse, which undoubtedly will thwart all his future plans and break your trust if he doesn't keep himself in check.
Clarence
Clarence isn't a jealous person by nature. He doesn't mind seeing you grow closer to others because he wants you to have as much agency as possible with your own actions. If someone is bothering you, he knows you can handle yourself so he doesn't interfere but should you use your voice to ask for help, you can count on him to be there within a moment's notice. Typically just his presence is enough to send them running although he isn't above threatening the other person if they refuse to back off after the first time. His choice of words are deliberate and seemingly dangerous but he would never think of inflicting harm to them unless he has no other choice. It takes someone truly formidable for his threats to be serious, thankfully the person bothering you is far from that.
Lars
When someone gets too close to you Lars pretends to be jealous for the laughs. Aside from that you've never seen him actually get jealous over the course of your relationship but that's far from the case when you weren't together yet. It's not as if he ever doubted that he stood a chance with you, if anything he knows he has a shot if he makes the most of his time with you. Problem is his chances are few and far in between; he has to work harder if it means freeing up a fraction of his schedule to see you, and even then there's a possibility that he will see you basking in somebody else's company as soon as he enters the room. There are moments when he wonders what it's like to have less responsibilities, to have more freedom to do what he wants, but he quickly pushes the feeling down before marching to your side.

Congrats on finishing the penultimate final episode of SL’s Season 5!!! And now for the season finale: What do you think of Audrey, her akuma, and Style Queen’s plot once you rewatch the episode?
The episode is...fine? On it's own? Like, I kinda just like it.
Well, as a character intro, it's pretty perfect. You know everything about Audrey in so little time:
Style Queen Magazine Fashion Critic
Harshest Fashion Critic in the World
Fires People at the Drop of the Hat, even the ones who don't work for her
Chloe mimics all her mannerisms and phrases -> Chloe sees Audrey as a role model to emulate -> Audrey is adult Chloe
Audrey sees no value in remaining in Paris despite her whole ass family living there -> Audrey doesn't give a single fuck about her family
Reinforced by her getting her husband and own daughter's names incorrect several times (she calls her CASSEROLE at one point!) though at least she has the good grace to look embarrassed for a second when she does and at least she corrects herself with the correct name.
She sure does get Gabriel's name right though, suggesting she holds him in better (or at least higher) regard than her own family. Maybe this is where Chloe got her Bourgeois Family Rule No. 148: You Need a Guy Best Friend to "Wrap Around Your Finger". This also suggests that her career ties are more important to her than her family ties.
Also it's interesting that she remembers Marinette's name when it comes up again...
In the two minutes they have Audrey talking in the opening, you know everything about her, and all signs point to her being a total asshole. And we all thought it was just Andre spoiling Chloe rotten that made her that way...
So I guess I'll just go chronologically for the set up to the akuma:
Liked: Marinette's imposter syndrome was depicted very well and is in line with her character. This was a pretty good use of Marinette's anxiety for the sake of exposition - her being tightly wound and going over her hat again and again so many times it makes her late, late enough to catch Audrey arriving so she can panic over that, and her getting to hear Audrey's interview with Nadja and panicking over that. All this set up helps the audience realize there's actually a stake here, since theoretically Audrey's opinion could make or break Marinette's dreams of being a designer.
Liked: Chloe trying to insult Marinette but ends up just doing a speed-run intro, pointing her out as a designer to Audrey and even showing off the detailing of her stitched signature. Maybe if Chloe hadn't gone out of her way to point these things out, Audrey wouldn't have taken an interest in Marinette in the first place, lol. Though obviously you'd only know that if you also watch "Queen Wasp".
Liked: This teeny tiny hint that Adrien isn't that into modeling, or at least not into modeling his dad's clothes, since he bemoans that he feels awkward. I liked that Adrien saw right through Marinette's imposter syndrome moment and actually cheered her up, and I like that Marinette complimenting his strut got him out of his funk in return without her even realizing it.
Liked: Oh c'mon we all liked it when Nathalie put Audrey in her place. It would be the dead pan snarky one that reminds Audrey that she doesn't work for her. The fact that Nathalie even smiles at Marinette when she presents the now vacant seat just sealed in that, on top of it being deliberate for Gabriel's plan, Nathalie enjoyed it. And so did I, Nathalie.
Tumblr media
God, please don't look directly at me.
I'll stop going chronologically here. The akuma is pretty good, though just like Audrey herself, better at a distance (her faaaaace, what is happening?!) and idk the back of her head is crazy. I think they were going for a Statue of Liberty Crown shape with her hair, but the back is just...cut off and flat.
Tumblr media
At least now I know where she kept the rose...?
As far as the fight goes, it's just Ladybug getting her ass beat even AFTER figuring out a way to slow Style Queen down with just her Lucky Charm, so I guess this IS Hawkmoth's "masterpiece". Though that does make her being so easily beaten in "Optygami" kinda weak. I guess all Ladybug really needed was help.
And obviously we were all robbed of Bee!Alya.
And obviously Plagg was MVP.
Chloe was also pretty good in this episode (in the way I think she's good, as a complete brat). She would bluff her way into signing up to be her mom's assistant, and while it was momentarily sweet of her to be worried about Adrien, you can still tell she's her asshole self when she starts down the stairs with her mom and talking about how AWESOME THEIR TEAM-UP WAS.
I know she was just leading up to suggesting she go to New York to be with her mother, but going on about how GREAT it was to "fire incompetents" together kinda puts into question just how much you were bluffing there, Chlo.
And of course Audrey calls the idea of Chloe going to New York with her ridiculous, but follows it up with "first I need to get back to Gabriel's fashion show", so there's a few ways to interpret that.
Is the idea of taking Chloe with her at all ridiculous?
Or Is it ridiculous to take Chloe to New York right now because the Fashion Show is still on? As in, that's not the order of things, or it's ridiculous because Audrey's not even going back to New York right away?
If it were any other character, I'd say she obviously meant the idea of Chloe going with her at all, but it's Audrey. Petty, career focused, only looking two steps ahead Audrey.
Then again, I'm probably just trying to make this more difficult and deeper than it is. It's probably just the former, she rejected Chloe flat out, especially when we know what's coming in "Queen Wasp". Idk who I'm defending here, it's a lost cause.
I guess what I'm getting at is that Audrey is fascinating as a character study in all these little ways that I'm not fully sure the show intended. Like her looking guilty when she screws up Chloe's name, even as an akuma. Or instead of listing the reasons why Chloe going to New York is ridiculous by tearing Chloe down, she instead is pointing out that they have somewhere else to be first. Where she comes across as not so much trying to be intentionally malicious but instead thoughtlessly cruel.
Don't get it twisted, though, she's still an asshole.

Ok weird opinion of mine I guess idk how to start posts aaaa
I think Simon’s “barbarian” design really works story and character wise.
Yeah, it’s silly and absolutely not historically accurate whatsoever, but it kinda makes sense in a certain weird way.
We know from Lament of Innocence and Dracula’s Curse that the Belmont family is generally on rough terms with the public. Leon gets his title taken away and, even though he gets his sword back at the end of the whole Walter situation as confirmed by how Belmonts onward have that sword, he’s still generally kinda shunned for going against the church’s wishes and the tail end of the crusades happening at the time. And Trevor is straight up banished from the country for fear of his strength. He’s much isolated from other people off in the house in the woods until he’s called to help fight against Dracula and gets some friends on the way.
And this kinda sets up the situation that the family was living in during Christopher’s time. The Belmonts are social outcasts; their existence is acknowledged, but they’re not really associated with or thought of very highly at this point. So, it wouldn’t be unlikely that they just wouldn’t really care for or be caught up with social expectations like fashion. When people are going to be wary of you regardless of what you do, why not dress however you want? Especially if you know no one’s going to do anything about it! Especially if it’s practical; the longer, looser sleeves and pant legs of the time would be restrictive in a combat/acrobatic context. So Christopher probably just wore whatever he wanted, and to be fair he doesn’t really seem to interact with anyone besides family very much.
First I wanna mention that I am completely aware that Simon was designed way before any of these other characters. But these characters are chronologically before him and can explain where he gets these design choices from in universe.
So, what about Simon then? Well, Simon has a lot of themes of wanting to be like his ancestors. Christopher is directly mentioned as someone he wonders he’ll ever compare to. Judgment shows him looking up to Trevor as well, and even though that game is of interesting canon status lol, it’s an example of that character element being used again. And this is reflected in his barbarian designs! The cape he wears in the manual drawings resembles the cape Trevor throws off in the opening of CV3. The general light armor and skimpy clothing is reflective of both some of Christopher and Trevor’s designs. The metal armor in Simon’s Quest being reminiscent in shape to Trevor’s on the CV3 box art. It just makes sense that Simon would be trying his damnedest to emulate the guys he’s been looking up and comparing himself to his whole life.
And the sudden transition from the barbarian look the family had for years to the more with the times fashion that Juste has makes a lot of sense considering Juste grew up in a time when the family was highly respected and in the middle of town, somewhere where keeping social expectations and appearances would be expected of him.
Idk if any of this makes sense, but aaaaaa random stream of an idea I guess. I like Simon getting to being weird and out of place for his time period and country lol. Also I’m not saying that other designs are bad!!! I like all of Simon’s game designs tbh, Ayami’s is really cool too and works for some of these points cause it’s also kinda barbarian esque but just in black and red, I’ve cosplayed it before lol. Yeah idk that’s it and I am sleepy goodnight—

like your writing is so brilliant and I really enjoyed guess I waited too long and I noticed there’s been a SEVERE lack of unrequited love tech fics and I am a girl who likes all hurt and no comfort,,, what do I have to do to commission you to write one for tech where reader loves him but he doesn’t feel the same way/did in the past but has moved on,,, something like Silver Springs by Fleetwood Mac,,,, this is really long I’ll stop talking now but I’ll literally pay u to write it cause I can’t write for shit and don’t have patience 😭😭🫶🫶🫶🫶
So Much for Love
Oh my dear! You don’t have to pay me at all! I do this for fun! I'm just glad I can give some joy to others! I will definitely try and emulate Silver Springs as best I can.
Alright so you are a waitress at Dexter's and the batch are some good customers that come whenever they're in Coruscant. You've been infatuated with Tech and he seemed receptive until something changed. You confront him and he breaks off whatever you had going on. It was never labelled but you're heartbroken. However, Tech is happy alone and with his brothers so you can't be too mad. So you mourn what could've been.
No content warning.
Word count: 2981
Enjoy!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
You had been screamed at, insulted, and had food thrown at you multiple times today. You were so close to breaking down and Dexter was not helping. He just saw everyone as friends and so dismissed your complaints of disrespect.
You finally had a lull between rushes and just leant against the counter. Your head hung in exhaustion wanting this day to be over. You hated being a waitress but it was the best job in the sector for you and your means. Your one light in your life, CT 9902 otherwise known as Tech, had been gone for the past 173 rotations. He had been keeping contact but it was sparse. His missions took priority and that made sense to you. It just hurt on days like this when you needed some comfort that he was gone for so long.
"Hey sweetheart! I need more caf!" a customer yelled, snapping their fingers.
Sighing deeply, you put on your best smile before heading over with a pot. You nodded your head and apologised for the wait before checking if he needed anything else.
You heard the doors open and a loud growl of affection before being lifted off your feet. You squealed in surprise and thrashed around until a giant clone set you back down.
"Wrecker! You scared the life out of me!" You scolded, before giving him a hug.
Hunter and Crosshair came in after with Echo following close behind. You greeted them with hugs and sat them down with cups of caf. You took their orders, giving them a small discount for their military service.
"Where's Tech? He's usually the first one demanding caf," you pointed out.
Hunter shrugged, taking a sip of his drink. "Said something about needing to fix the airflow on the ship. I don't know anymore."
You made a noise of understanding before moving on to other customers. You figured Tech would come around at some point. If not the diner then your apartment. He usually always made time for you. You smiled as you remembered the first time they walked into the diner.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
It had been a slow day at Dex's. You were sitting in a booth, ordering more ingredients and the like as Dex seemed to not bother about ordering in shipments. You were getting frustrated about the holonet as it was either freezing or slow. You hated the service as Dex never paid his bills on time. Which is why he hired you in the first place; you were a stickler for things being on time and it frustrated you that Dex was more focused on customer service.
"Excuse me. Do you work here?" a voice called you out of your thoughts.
You looked up to see a tall man with goggles and a data pad staring at you. He seemed to be expecting something of you and you weren't sure what. You nodded a yes to his question and asked how you could help.
"Well me and my brothers were hoping for some food and caf. We finally have some shore leave and need proper nutrition. Rations can get rather tedious after a while."
You peered around to see four other men behind him, waiting patiently for you to seat them. You slowly realized they were clones on leave from the war and jumped into action. You shut your pad off and ran behind the counter.
"I'm so sorry men! I was distracted. Have a seat anywhere and I'll serve you up some fresh caf!"
The shortest one, wearing a red bandana waved you off and told you not to worry. They were used to cold caf apparently.
Shaking your head, you poured fresh caf into their mugs. "You guys protect us from battle droids. It's the very least I can do to offer fresh hot caf."
"Well then you offer more than most. Many consider clones to be less than others. We are practically second class citizens in the eyes of the Republic." The goggled one spoke up before sipping his mug.
You grimaced. You hated that clones were considered objects and not human beings. Yes they were clones of one man but they were still sentient beings.
"So can I grab your names for the order?"
"Names? Usually civilians refer to us by our numbers."
You smiled, shrugging coyly. "Well maybe I'm just different then other civvies."
One by one they told you their names. Hunter, Tech, Wrecker, Echo and Crosshair. Tech was the one who approached you first. He was cute too. Yes they were all attractive but Tech intrigued you the most. So while they ate and drank their fill of caf and food, you flirted with Tech. You’d make little comments about his goggles, his intellect, his everything. Crosshairs seemed amused by this, teasing his brother relentlessly when they left. Hunter couldn’t help but smile as it wasn’t often they got interest from women; then again it wasn’t often they had shore leave.
Tech came to visit you on his own whenever Clone Force 99 had time off away from missions. He was curious and intrigued about you and your choice in him and not his brothers. He soon came to develop feelings for you and you for him. You messaged whenever he was away and made time for each other when he was in Coruscant. The Bad Batch became Dex’s favourite group of regulars as they ate almost everything and paid well.
You and Tech had never labelled what you had but it was clear to you both it was exclusive. You went as far as to say you were in love. Tech wouldn’t say that he was in love but rather he held “very intense emotion and high regard for you”. It made you smile that that was his way of saying I love you.
———————————————————————————————
Your shift finished and Tech still had not come to see you. Hunter gave you directions as to where they landed the ship as they continued on to 79’s.
You had a to go cup of hot caf and Tech’s favourite order in your hands as you approached the ship. It was silent save for the tinkering of Tech under the control panels. Setting the food down, you gently nudged his foot to let him know you were there. He slid from under the panel, glancing at you before returning to work. That was odd… he never not said anything to you when you came. It was always a “hello darling” or “one moment. I will be done soon.” Something!
You sat in the co pilot’s chair and waited. “I brought you food if you’re hungry. And hot caf,” you murmured.
“Thank you. That wasn’t necessary as I had some rations left over but I appreciate the thought.” Again, odd. He always loved it when you brought food to him. Much like all clones, Tech didn’t really like the ration bars but tolerated them as they were essential to a soldier’s survival.
Chewing your lip, you bounced your leg in anxiety. Did something happen? Was someone hurt? “Tech. Come out and talk to me please.” You urged. Something was wrong and you were going to find out what; no matter how upsetting the idea of confrontation was.
“In a moment. I’m almost done.”
“I’m serious Tech. It wasn’t like you to not come to the diner with your brothers. I was worried! You had been so sparse with your messages I’m scared something happened.”
Tech slid back out and sat up. Annoyance was clear on his face as you were interrupting his work, something he tolerated before. You recoiled slightly at the expression on his face. Something was wrong and it was affecting your relationship.
Tech then did the unexpected. He tried kick you out of the ship. He never did that! He always let you sit quietly while he tinkered around. Anger flooded your mind and red tinted your vision.
“No. I’m not leaving until you tell me what happened. What’s wrong? You never used to treat me like this. What’s changed?”
Sighing heavily, Tech sat across from you in his pilot’s seat. “I thought driving you away would be easier but I suppose your feelings are stronger than I calculated.”
Raising a brow, you urged him to continue as this was not like him. Nerves shot through you as the thought of him ending things became more a reality.
“I am… sorry. But I do not think our current relationship should continue.”
Tear pricked in your eyes. You cleared your throat to rid the tightness building. “Oh. Is there a reason why? Have I done something to upset you?”
“No. I just simply lost feelings for you. I realize now that I was just experiencing what Crosshair called a crush. It came and went and now I wish to end our relationship.”
Your heart broke. The man you loved never loved you back and now he was walking away. You grabbed the food and caf you brought and set it in your seat. You brought the food for him and now he could consider it a parting gift. You shared one more hug and you kissed his cheek. He gave you a pressed smile, letting you know he thought it was for the best and that physical contact wasn't going to be a thing as much anymore. You allowed some tears to fall as you let him know “You boys are always welcome at the diner. Regardless of our relationship status. See you later Tech.”
Watching you leave, Tech felt a sort of pull in his chest. Brushing it off, he went back to working on the air duct controls. The food you brought smelt so good though! It was one of the things about you he enjoyed. You always brought them all food and caf fresh from the diner. You brought his with a smile and a kiss on the cheek, not caring if he was covered in grease or oil.
Yes he will miss the connection he once felt but as much as it gave him discomfort to end things, he knew he wouldn't feel the same for you and so felt the most logical thing was to end your relationship.
Echo and Wrecker could see you leave the ship in tears as they came back to the Marauder. You walked in the opposite direction to them to avoid questions being asked. Also your apartment was the other way so that helped avoid Echo’s piercing gaze. They walked up the gangplank to see Tech putting his food away for later, an aura of normalcy around him.
“Why in Maker’s name is she crying? What did you do?” Echo asked Tech accusingly.
“I terminated our relationship. I did not expect her to cry at such a thing but I do not have any romantic feelings for her anymore. Why stay in a relationship if I don’t feel as she does?”
——————————————————————————————————
You ordered all the ice cream you could as you cried into your pillow. A holomovie played the background, some documentary about a band where the lead singer and guitarist dated and broke up. Maker that sounded so much like you and Tech. You mourned what could’ve been. Once the war was over you saw you two living in a small apartment or house somewhere far away from Coruscant. Where Tech was a mechanic and you stayed at home caring for what children you possibly could’ve had. Now that was all gone. Tech had felt something but it wasn’t love. An infatuation! Almost 2 years for an infatuation. You started to hate yourself for not recognizing it sooner.
“I suppose I looked at it with rose coloured glasses. Or goggles I guess.” You murmured.
Time casted a spell on you both. Yours was one of love and adoration. Tech’s spell was a short lived crush that faded with distance and time. You wanted Tech but you would not keep him in a relationship he didn’t want to be in. You messaged Dex asking for time off. You didn’t think you’d be able to focus on customers and which tables were yours.
A knock spurred you out of your reverie and had you crawling out of bed. Surprisingly, Crosshair was behind the door. A bag in one hand, the other on his hip. You opened the door and invited him inside.
“Tech told us. I told him a crush can develop into more if he let it but I guess he didn’t want the ‘distraction’” He held out the bag and you saw chocolate, candy and a bunch of booze. Out of all the Batch you expected Echo or Hunter to come console you but Crosshair was pleasant surprise.
The youngest clone was snarky, full of spite and humour but after hearing Tech blab on and on about the ins and outs of your relationship, he felt the need to come see if you were okay. And considering Hunter was getting his rocks off with a civilian and Echo and Wrecker were too drunk to coherently give you what you needed, the responsibility fell to Crosshair. You had become his favourite civvy.
You curled into Crosshair’s side as you watched a new holomovie. Some dumb horror that made the two of you laugh. You didn’t expect the sniper to be this soft but it was a pleasant surprise after your breakup with Tech. Remembering what he said, you burst into tears again, feeling Crosshair pull you closer.
“It’ll be alright doll. My brother may be the smartest but he can be the most oblivious. He doesn’t know what he just let go.”
Through hiccups and sobs you asked him what was wrong with you. “Why can’t he give it a chance? We were a thing for two years Cross! Was that all nothing? Did I make it out to be more than what it was?”
Moving his toothpick from one side to the other, he spoke slowly. “Nothing is wrong with you. Tech’s never had feelings for someone before so he doesn’t understand that definitively expressing your plan is needed throughout a relationship. It was... what you both wanted it to be. He’s just ignorant of this side of human emotion.”
Eventually Crosshair had to return to the ship, but made sure you felt okay enough to be alone. You hated how things went with you and Tech but you couldn’t change it. He didn’t want you and so you had to mourn and move on. Besides, it was heartache. Nothing you hadn’t handled before. So why did it hurt so much more now? Was it because you actually saw a future with Tech? Or was it because he never felt the same for you?
Finishing the ice cream and putting the chocolate and booze away, you curled into bed again, wanting nothing more than to go back in time and never fall in love with that handsome goggled clone. Perhaps you’d go to 79’s and pick up a different soldier to sleep with. But you missed Tech and his little tangents of whatever was on his mind.
Dex responded giving you the time off you asked for. You rarely asked for time off so he had no trouble giving it to you.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
As Hunter stumbled back into the ship, he saw Crosshair giving Tech a hard time. Clearly something had happened between the two but Hunter was far too gone to even care. He continued to stumble into his bunk before Echo shouted for him. Groaning, he sat up and called out.
“What!?”
Echo yelled back “You might wanna hold Crosshair back! I think he's gonna kill Tech!”
Growling he moved into the cockpit to see Wrecker holding Crosshair and Echo shielding Tech. Tech was sitting in his seat, tinkering away while Crosshair looked like he was gonna tear him a new asshole.
Running a hand down his face, he groaned in exhaustion. “Alright men what’s going on? Why are we killing Tech?”
Wrecker looked sheepishly from Tech to Hunter. “Uhhh, Tech broke up with y/n and apparently she was pretty upset. Crosshair wants to teach Tech a lesson but I think he just wants to hit him.”
Hunter looked at Tech incredulously. “Fucking really? Why? I thought things were good!”
Shrugging, Tech continued tinkering, not stressed at all about the situation he put himself in. “I simply do not feel for her as she does for me. Why continue to lead her on if I don’t have feelings for her anymore?”
Smacking Tech up the head was the least Hunter could do in his inebriated state. He ordered Crosshair to bed and Wrecker and Echo to sober up.
“Tech, I know you think it’s logical but love isn’t. Did you at least let her down easy? Tell her you still care about her and her safety?”
Tech cocked his head to the side, confused. “I thought that was obvious. Why state it if it’s a known fact?”
Sighing, Hunter bid his brother goodnight. As he lay in his bunk, he sent you a message asking if you were okay. You responded with a no but you’d get better. You reiterated to Hunter that the boys were always welcome at Dex’s and you’d serve them with a smile. Hunter grimaced, fulling planning on teaching his brother a lesson on love; not as harshly as Crosshair but a firmly as possible.
While they were all soldiers and had little experience with love and relationships, Hunter knew basics. Don’t tell someone you love them if you don’t mean it. Let people down gently. Communicate and comprehend. Hunter knew Tech could be blunt so now it was the Batch’s job to make sure their favourite civvy was okay before the left for their next mission. Hopefully sooner than later as it was often they were sent away without notice.

Crushes in the classroom - Jeongchan fic
6.2k word, fluff, teacher AU, romantic.
Summary: Both Chan and Jeongin are teachers at the same school and unbeknownst to the other they have both been crushing on the other.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jeongin was running late, he knew that, but he just had to make a stop at the local coffee shop to pick up an iced americano and an iced tea for Chan. He knew the other man did not like coffee in any form, which Jeongin didn’t understand at all. How can you be a teacher and not like coffee? Jeongin really didn’t understand, but he didn’t want to question Chan about it. He knew would get a long spiel about how coffee was not good for you in big quantities.
As he arrived at the school, he looked at his watch and realised he had managed to make it on time. He even had a little spare time to maybe have a short chat with Chan before he had to go to his own class. He broke out in a big smile at the thought, since the small talks he had with Chan were one of his highlights. Don’t get him wrong, he liked his other colleagues, but none of them made him feel the same way that Chan did and he just enjoyed the other man's company a lot.
He walked up to the main doors, slowly pushed them open, and, careful not to spill the beverages, headed straight for where he knew Chan would have his first class. Jeongin was humming a familiar tune as he knocked on the door and waited for the other man to call him in.
“Come in,” Chan shouted from inside the room and Jeongin pushed the door open. “Oh, goodmorning, Mr.Yang,” Chan said with a smile as he looked over at Jeongin. Jeongin pouted at him.
“I have told you many times that you can just call me Jeongin, Chan. You don’t need to be formal, when the kids are not here yet,” Jeongin said to him and walked over to the desk, where the other teacher was setting his stuff up for his first class.
Chan, as a science teacher, was one of the few teachers who rarely moved around the school. Instead, the students came to his room, as the sciences rooms had to be separated from the other rooms because the science equipment couldn’t be moved. Being a korean teacher, Jeongin didn’t have the same luxury.
As Jeongin reached Chan's table, he held out the cup of ice tea he had gotten for the other man silently. Chan looked up at the movement and his face morphed from its neutral state to shock as he realised that Jeongin was holding out the cup for him.
“Oh, is that for me?” he said with a small smile. Jeongin nodded as Chan took the cup from him and took a small sip from it. He looked up at Jeongin with a big smile, which made Jeongin’s cheeks heat up and look down at the floor.
“You really shouldn’t have done that, Jeongin, but thank you and it is my favourite as well,” Chan said as he continued to take sips from the drink with a small smile on his face.
“Well, I was already at the coffee shop and knew you really like the ice tea from this specific place, so I couldn’t help myself getting one for you as well, no need to thank me, Chan,” Jeongin said dismissively and took a sip out of his own drink.
“Well, thank you for it still,” Chan said with a smile. Jeongin smiled back at him. Then he pulled up a chair to sit by the table, enjoying the silence and the small noises Chan let out while he was preparing things for his first class. Jeongin looked at what he was doing and wondered, what it was about. He’s never been much of a science person, always enjoyed languages and the more artistic subjects more, so he had no idea what Chan was preparing at all.
“What are you preparing for your class?” Jeongin asked, as he looked at all the stars that were spread over the table.
“I’m planning on having the kids set up a tent with me and then we are going to go into the tent and place the stars on the inside to emulate the night sky and try and make as many constellations as we can in the time we have,” Chan started explaining enthusiastically as he was gesturing around at all the stars and the roll of black fabric that was standing up against the wall. Jeongin nodded along as Chan continued to explain. “I’m obviously going to be making some real constellations, that the students then have to try and name and answer if they are specific for this time of year.” “Are there constellations you can’t see all year around?” Jeongin asked in surprise, since he had no idea about this.
“Yes, loads. The stars are stationary, so as the earth travels around the sun, some constellations are only visible during the summer or the winter,” Chan explained with the biggest smile on his face as he loved to talk about the night sky and all the stars in it. Jeongin tried his best to follow along as Chan continued to explain it all, but he felt more and more lost in the explanation as he didn’t know much about the night sky at all. Instead, he ended up just sitting there and staring at Chan in wonder over all the things he knew about the night sky.
They were so completely in their own world, that they hadn’t noticed the set of big eyes staring at them from the door and the sudden loud voice shouting.
“WHAT IS MR.YANG DOING HERE, MR. BANG??”
Both men flew up from their chairs in surprise and looked over to the door, where one of the students was standing and just staring at them in confusion. Neither of them had noticed the student arriving and at that moment Jeongin also realised that he had to run over to the regular classrooms for his own first class.
“Oh Shi-Oot,” Jeongin exclaimed, nearly swearing in front of the student. He quickly collected all his things and, with a quick goodbye to Chan, ran out of the room. When he arrived at the room where his own class was located, he had some time to collect himself before class actually started, as luckily only a few students had arrived so far. As he slowly got out the books he needed for the day's lesson, he thought about how caught up he got in Chan’s talking, that he didn’t even notice his surroundings and had embarrassed himself in front of the student.
Why did Chan have such an effect on him, he wondered to himself as he placed his books on the table. He sat at his desk, the quiet noise of students slowly milling into the class, chatting with each other and ignoring their teacher, providing background noise as he spaced out. Suddenly the bell rang loudly, pulling Jeongin out of his thoughts with a small jump and a loud gasp. All the students looked at him with big eyes and wondered what was up with their teacher. As Jeongin tried to collect himself over the shock, one of the students slowly stood up.
“Are you okay, Mr. Yang?” she asked quietly and looked quizzically at the teacher. All the other students nodded and looked at him.
“Yes, I’m fine, Ryunjin, was just caught up in my own head for just a moment,” Jeongin said as he stood up and got ready to start the class. As he picked up his book to turn to the page they have gotten to, something fell out from between the pages.
It was a small cut out of a star.
Jeongin looked at it for a long time, completely spacing out again as he thought about his conversation with Chan earlier that morning, about the stars and the universe and how he had just sat there and took in everything the other man had talked about without knowing anything about it.
“Mr. Yang?” a little voice said again.
“Yes, sorry, class. Now let's continue with the reading from yesterday,” Jeongin said quickly as he picked up the star and tucked it quickly into his pocket. He turned back to the front of the class and started the lesson as if nothing had happened. All the students looked confused at each other, but just shrugged their small shoulders and took out their books to start their reading.
As the day progressed and Jeongin moved from class to class, he kept coming back to his morning with Chan and how the other man had affected him. He kept drawing a blank on why it had happened and what the other man had done to even have that effect on Jeongin. As he reflected on it, he realised that this was not the first time it had happened either. He suddenly remembered more and more times, where Chan had seemingly put him in some sort of trance, while telling him about some obscure science fact that Jeongin did not understand and probably would never understand.
Jeongin took a deep sigh, looked down at his watch, and saw that they were closing in on lunch time for the kids. He moved back to his first classroom and the class he had that morning. He was the assigned classroom teacher for them and had to sit with them while they had their lunch before recess. He put his hand in his pocket and felt a small piece of paper, which he then pulled out.
Oh, it was the star from earlier that he had found in his book. One of Chan's stars. He smiled at it and tucked it back into his pocket for safekeeping, reminding himself to hand it back to the other man before the day was over. Once he arrived at the classroom and made sure all the kids were properly seated and had started their lunch, he sat down at the desk and pulled out his own lunch he had prepared yesterday. Just as he started eating, there was a knock at the door and everyone looked up in surprise, since none of them were expecting anyone else to come to their classroom.
“Come in,” Jeongin shouted as he stood up to move towards the door to see who had come to the class, fully expecting a student who might have gotten lost, despite having counted all his students and none of them were missing. He did not expect Chan to enter the classroom with a small smile on his face and a bag in his hand.
“Hi, Mr. Yang, I just came to see if I could possibly join you and your class for lunch, seeing as I don’t have a class to overlook today,” Chan said with a smile and gestured to the bag in his hand that contained his own lunch. Jeongin looked at the man in wonder as he couldn’t believe he had come to eat lunch with him, little him, like Chan could have picked any of the other members of the staff, but he chose Jeongin. A light blush started to rise on Jeongins cheeks as his thoughts started to drift.
“Mr. Yang?”
Jeongin was abruptly brought out of his thoughts by the other man saying his name as he blushed profusely and stammered out an answer.
“S-su-sure, you can join us for lunch, Mr. Bang,” Jeongin finally got out as he pulled up a chair for the other man, so he could sit at the desk with him. Chan sat down and pulled out his own lunch and started to dig in. As the two men sat and ate in silence, Chan looked at some of the papers Jeongin had placed on the table, that he was planning to look over while the kids were out in the schoolyard for recess. He reached over and pulled one of the sheets over to him and started reading it.
“What is this about?” he asked and turned the paper over towards Jeongin. He looked down at it and saw it was one of the short stories he had assigned this class to write over the weekend.
“Oh, it was a writing exercise I had the students do over the weekend, where they had to write a little story about an animal they had met and use as many descriptive words as they could,” Jeongin explained as he pointed out the different words that the student had used without saying them out loud.
“Oooh, that seems like a fun and creative little exercise,” Chan said with a smile as he read what the student had written and chuckled at it. He put the paper down again and picked up another one and looked it over, smiled and continued to do this with a couple of more papers. All while Jeongin was just sitting there and looking at Chan like he was the only person in the room and no one else but them existed.
“A lot of these are really good and funny. You got some really creative students, Mr. Yang,” Chan said and looked over at Jeongin with a massive smile, which made Jeongin blush and look away just nodding along to what Chan was saying.
They continued to chat about different topics and just being in their own world, neither realising that a whole classroom of small eyes was looking intensely at them and between each other, wondering what was going on between their two teachers.
“Mr. Yang? Mr. Bang?” one of the students asked out loud, making the two men jump and turn around in their chairs. They looked at the class with wide open eyes, remembering at that moment that they weren’t alone in the class, but were in fact being observed by twenty small kids. They both blushed and Jeongin spoke up.
“Yes, Jooyeon?” Jeongin asked the little boy.
“I’m sorry for asking, but are you and Mr. Bang dating?” the little boy asked and looked back and forth between the two men. Both of them looked in bewilderment at the boy and to each other and back to the little boy again, completely taken by surprise by the question, that neither of them knew what to say at first.
“Uh, Jooyeon, that is not a very polite thing to ask someone,” Chan finally managed to get out and looked over towards Jeongin, who was just looking down at the table with a completely red face and didn’t know what to say to what the little boy had asked. Chan reached his hand over to check if Jeongin was okay. Just before his hand touched the other, Jeongin jumped up and exclaimed.
“Time for recess. Pack your things and get your clothes on and off to the yard with you guys,” Jeongin said in a haste and started ushering the kids towards the door. All of the kids looked in confusion at Jeongin, but did as he said and started to follow him towards the yard, where the teacher, Felix, who had yard duty was waiting for them.
“Hey Jeongin, thanks for bringing your class,” Felix said with a kind smile, looking up at Jeongin. His smile faltered a bit and he asked, “Are you okay? You are quite red in the face.”
“Oh that is probably ‘cause we asked him and Mr. Bang if they were dating,” Jooyeon said with a smile as he looked up at Felix.
“Oh..” Felix said and looked back up at Jeongin, who had turned even more red in the face than he was before. Felix smirked at Jeongin with a glint in his eyes and mouthed to him that he would be asking about this later. Jeongin spluttered over that and just turned around and walked fast back towards his classroom. As he arrived at the classroom he hurried in and closed the door behind him. He leaned against it for a moment and looked up at the ceiling with a deep sigh.
“Are you okay?”
Jeongin looked towards the voice in surprise, having fully expected Chan to have left the room and gone back to his own classroom. But no, he was still sitting by the desk and looking over at Jeongin with questioning eyes. Jeongin sighed, walked over to the table, and sat down beside Chan again, placing his head in his hands.
“I’m so sorry for that, Chan. That was so inappropriate of Jooyeon to ask and I’m going to have a proper word with him later about not asking those things, since it is just not okay to ask, especially your teachers,” Jeongin said in a hurry. He didn’t even dare to look over at Chan to see his reaction to what he was saying, continuing to sit with his head in his hand and trying to reflect over what the little boy had said, and if there was any truth to it.
Did he have feelings for the other man?
Was that why he got flustered around him and lost in his train of thoughts, when the other man was talking?
Was that why he would listen to anything the man was talking about even though it didn’t interest him in the slightest?
Chan was just sitting and looking at the other man, while he was clearly deep in thought, and didn’t know how to approach him or ask him what was going through his head.
“Should I leave, Jeongin,” he asked quietly. Jeongin looked up at him in confusion, as if he had completely forgotten the other man was still there. He looked at him for a bit and shook his head.
“No, sorry, I just got lost in my own thoughts for a moment,” Jeongin said. He shook his head at Chan and smiled as he composed himself. He turned towards the other teacher and just smiled at him, trying to push his thoughts to the back of his head, deciding he was going to think about it later and just enjoy the moment with Chan before they had to go back to their classes.
“Do you wanna talk about it?” Chan asked slowly as if trying to assess the situation and figure out what Jeongin wanted.
“NO,” Jeongin said with a blush and turned away from the other teacher and looked out of the window. “I don’t really wanna talk about it right now, sorry, Chan, can we just talk about something else?” he asked and turned back to the other man. Chan just nodded at it and they fell silent again just looking around awkwardly, not knowing how to start a conversation again.
They ended up just sitting in silence for the rest of the break and only glancing at each other from time to time, too scared to start the conversation again, as neither of them knew how to approach the subject that was going through both of their heads.
As the bell rang and signalled that the break was over, Chan stood up and packed his things together getting ready to go back to his class. That made Jeongin look up at him and want to say something, but he just didn’t know what to say until he remembered the star he had in his pocket from this morning.
“Chan!” he said and reached into his pocket and held the star out to the other man. “This ended up between my books this morning and I thought you might want it back as it might be important to the thing you were doing with your classes this morning,” he continued and turned his head away, avoiding any eye contact with the other man.
Chan took the star and looked at it. Then he decided to hand it back to Jeongin, told him he could keep it as a keepsake, and decided then and there to be a bit bold.
“You can keep it and it can remind you of me, when you look at it,” Chan said with a slight blush to his cheeks as he looked at Jeongin like he was expecting some kind of response from the other man. Jeongin just sat still for a moment and looked up at Chan with a similar blush to his face as he took back the star with a small smile and a thank you, not knowing what else to say.
“Well I need to get back to my class, so see you later, maybe?” Chan said as he scratched the back of his head and let out an awkward cough.
“Yeah, see you later, maybe,” Jeongin replied, absent-minded as he looked down at the star in his hand, as if it had all the answers to the many questions that were floating around in his head. He didn't notice that the other man was still looking at him, until he let out a sigh and walked away. It was first when he heard the door close behind him, that Jeongin looked up again and stared at the closed door. He wondered if he should run after the other man and try to talk to him, but he couldn’t get himself to do it.
He looked back at the star, let out a deep sigh, and held it close to his heart as he closed his eyes and thanked someone that he had a free hour before his next class to sit and think about what this all meant to him. But his calm was rudely interrupted by a knock on his door and someone walking in.
Jeongin looked over to the door, saw Felix standing there with the biggest smile on his face and sighed deeply, knowing what was coming. He put the star down on his table and turned fully to the other man.
“What do you want?” he asked and looked at Felix.
“Oh, you know exactly what I want, Jeongin. I want answers to that little thing that Jooyeon mentioned when you came with the kids to recess,” Felix said with a bigger smile as he walked over to the table and sat down on the chair that Chan had occupied earlier. Jeongin let out a deep sigh. He wondered for a moment if he should just try and deny everything or if he should actually tell Felix what he was feeling, and maybe get an outside perspective on the whole thing.
“I don’t even know where to start, Felix. I’m so confused about all this and I don’t even know how I feel about Chan to be honest,” he said with a deep sigh. He slumped further down in his chair and looked out of the window, as he didn’t want to look at Felix and see what his reaction was to what Jeongin was saying.
“But what are you feeling about it? Like what is going on in your head to be exact?” Felix asked. Jeongin sighed and looked over at Felix, then put his head in his hands and sighed again.
“All these questions are just floating around. Like why am I feeling flustered every time Chan talks to me and why do i feel like my heart is going to beat out of my chest, when he looks and talks to me? And why is everything he does just affecting me in some way and I just want to do everything for him without him asking. Like I went out of my way this morning to get him the specific tea he likes from this specific coffee shop and he didn't even ask me to do it,” Jeongin said. He took a deep breath as he continued to try and explain what was going on to Felix.
“And like every time we sit and talk, I feel both comfortable, but also like there is some kind of tension between us that I just can’t explain and it is slowly driving me crazy and I don’t know what all this means,” he finished and looked up at Felix, who was just sitting and listening to him talk.
Felix took a deep breath.
“Do you want my honest opinion, Jeongin?” he asked.
“Yes, please, I really do, because I don’t know what any of this means,” Jeongin answered him.
“Okay, here is what I think is going on and that is that you like Chan,” Felix started. Jeongin rolled his eyes at that, because obviously he liked Chan, they were colleagues and he enjoyed hanging out with the other guy.
“I know what you are thinking and what I mean is that you like him more as a friend and that you might have a crush on him,” Felix said, looking straight at Jeongin with a soft smile and a tilt to his head. Jeongin looked at him and couldn’t believe what Felix was saying to him.
Did he really have a crush on Chan?
Is that why he was feeling like this?
Jeongin ran his fingers through his hair and stared in bewilderment at Felix. He didn’t even know how to respond or what to say to what Felix was telling him.
“Jeongin, can I ask you something?” Felix said slowly and Jeongin nodded slowly.
“Have you ever thought about kissing Chan and spending more time with him outside of work hours?” Felix asked.
Jeongin looked at him with wide eyes. He couldn’t believe Felix had the audacity to ask those things, but the more he thought about the questions, the less he could deny that those thoughts had for sure passed his mind. He couldn’t argue with Felix on it. He couldn’t believe he hadn’t figured it out himself.
“Oh my gosh, I do have a crush on Chan,” he slowly said and looked at Felix with wide eyes. “What the hell am i going to do about it?” he asked in a small voice and looked down at his desk again. Felix let out a sigh and looked at Jeongin with so much care and sympathy in his eyes.
“My honest answer to that is just to talk to Chan about it, I don’t think he is going to reject you, since I have seen how he looks at you sometimes and how often he brings you up, when I talk with him,” Felix said and smiled at Jeongin.
“Really? He talks about me?” Jeongin asked in surprise and looked up at Felix again.
“He does and sometimes it is really sickening to listen to, because he will just go on about something silly you did that to everyone else would be seen as so insignificant, but to Chan hyung it was like the greatest thing ever. He is honestly so smitten with you, it makes me feel lonely at times, even though I do have a boyfriend myself,” Felix said with a laugh as Jeongin turned a deep red and looked away.
Jeongin didn’t even know what to say to that as he looked out the window. He started thinking again about everything Felix just told him and he just didn’t know how to go about it. Did he have the courage to talk to Chan about this, now that he knew what it was that was going on with him and he knew that there was a possibility that Chan was feeling the same as he was feeling?.
“How do I ask him about it? Please help me, Felix, I have never asked anyone out before or asked anyone if they also have feelings for me,” Jeongin said in a desperate tone as he turned back to Felix and looked at him with big pleading eyes. Felix sighed and put his hands on the table reaching for Jeongin’s hands.
“I don’t have much experience myself, since it was Hyunjin who asked me and confessed to me first, but I know you just have to go for it and give it a chance, even if it isn’t easy to do,” he said/ He took Jeongin’s hands in his and looked at him with a smile, trying to reassure the other man that it was okay to feel this way and that nothing bad was going to happen if he took the chance.
“Yeah but it is just gonna be hard,” he said back to Felix. Felix just looked back at him in pity and patted him on the shoulder.
“I believe you can do it, now that you know what is up and you know he won't reject you,” Felix said to him with a smile. Jeongin looked sceptical at him and just sighed and shook his head.
“Anyway, should we maybe talk about something different?” Felix said with a smile and leaned back in his chair.
Jeongin looked over at him and nodded. Felix promptly started a long tale about something his fiancé, Hyunjin, had done the other night, which had frustrated Felix endlessly. According to Felix, Hyunjin just didn’t understand why Felix was so upset over it, which had, evidently, ended in a small argument.
As Felix continued to tell his story, Jeongin tried to listen along and nod at the appropriate times in the story. But he couldn’t help his brain drifting back to a certain science teacher and how in the hell he was going to approach asking him out. He knew it wasn’t going to be easy and the likelihood of him chickening out of asking him was very high, and nothing would come of it. And if Jeongin was honest with himself, that outcome would make him sad, now that he knew what it was he felt for the other man.
“Jeongin, are you even listening to what I’m saying?” Felix said with a pout.
“Huh? Oh, I’m so sorry, Felix, I just got lost in my own thoughts again,” Jeongin said rather sheepishly. Felix sighed and shook his head.
“You got to talk with him later, please Jeongin or else this will eat you alive. I’m obviously not going to pressure you, but I would just highly recommend it,” Felix said with a pleading voice and just as pleading eyes. Jeongin rolled his eyes at the other man's antics.
“I will try to talk to him later, though I will not make any promises at all. I will try and that is it,” Jeongin said in a stern voice and glared over at Felix, who raised his hands in defeat and shook his head. Jeongin knew that Felix wanted to say more on the matter and he was ready to stop the guy in saying more, but just then the bell rang, indicating that the free hour was over and Felix had to go back to his own class.
“Just think about it, Jeongin,” Felix said before he walked over to the door and gave Jeongin a pointed look, which made Jeongin roll his eyes and shoo the other man away. Felix sighed and walked out of the door with a small goodbye.
The rest of the day went fairly uneventful for Jeongin as he had two more classes to teach and then he was done for the day. None of the kids gave him any more trouble, but he could see some of them whisper between themselves and look up at him from time to time, when they should be doing their work. He decided not to call them out on it and let it slip for now, as he didn’t have the energy to discuss his crushes with a bunch of 10 year olds, which was also highly inappropriate.
As the last class wrapped up, Jeongin felt the nervous feeling rise in his body again as he realised that he would have to talk to Chan very soon. He kind of hoped that the other man would go straight home after he was also done wrapping up, but knowing Chan he most likely wouldn’t and he would come and check on Jeongin as he did that every single day.
And right on cue, just as the last student was leaving the room, Jeongin heard a knock at his door and there stood Chan with a small smile. Jeongin felt the blush rise in his cheeks as he locked eyes with Chan and turned away fast, uttering a small “Come in” to the other man.
“I hope I’m not disturbing you, Jeongin, but I do have something I really want to ask you,” Chan said with a slight hesitation to his voice. Jeongin whipped his head up so fast and looked at the other man with wide eyes.
“I actually also have something to ask you, but you go first,” Jeongin replied and started to fiddle with his hands. Chan approached Jeongin and for a split moment hesitated before he reached his hand out and took Jeongins hand in his. Jeongin felt his heart start racing as he looked down at their hands and couldn’t believe that Chan was actually holding his hands. Chan cleared his throat and started to speak.
“So, I know this might be a silly thing and might be all in my head and maybe also Felix getting to me about this, but I just feel like I have a special connection with you and I keep getting butterflies in my stomach when we talk and just hang out between classes or before and after school,” Chan started/ He looked down at their hands and then up at Jeongin again before continuing.
“And again, I don’t know if it is just me reading something wrong into it or if there is actually something there and I don't really want to make anything awkward between us as that would break my heart if I lost this precious friendship we have for a silly crush I have on you,” Chan said with a flush and looked away. Jeongin gasped at Chan's confession and looked at him with big round eyes.
“You have a crush on me?” Jeongin asked timidly. Chan nodded and started to talk again.
“I do, I’ve had one for quite some time, but I haven’t been sure if you felt the same, but after this morning and lunch, and after Felix knocked some sense into me before I got over here,” he said with a small chuckle and continued.
“Anyway, what I’m trying to get at is that I want to ask you on a date and I do hope you will accept it or else this will be really silly and I hopefully haven't ruined our friendship,” Chan said in a hurry. He looked down at their hands again as he fiddled with Jeongins finger and turned them over in his hands.
Jeongin stared at the other man in disbelief.
Chan had just asked him out.
Jeongin couldn’t believe what he heard and kept staring at the other man. Chan looked more nervous the longer Jeongin was quiet.
“Oh gosh, I have messed it all up and read the situation completely wrong, I’m so sorry I asked you! Oh gosh, I have really done it now. Oh gosh, I’m just going to leave now, I’m so sorry,” Chan said in a panic. He dropped Jeongin's hands in a hurry and started to turn around to leave the room.
Jeongin snapped out of his own thoughts as Chan turned around and in a panic grabbed the other man's hand to pull him back.
“NO! I’m so sorry for not saying anything, you have done nothing wrong, I just couldn’t believe what I was hearing, as I wanted to ask you the exact same thing, Chan,” Jeongin said in a hurry and caught Chan's eyes, so he could see he was sincere about what he was saying.
“Really?” Chan said.
“Really,” Jeongin confirmed with a blush as he intertwined his fingers with Chan and looked at him with a soft smile. They stood there for a while and smiled at each other with a soft smile, until Chan let out a little chuckle.
“I guess Felix was right after all and that I didn’t have to worry,” he said with a soft smile.
“Yeah, he said the exact same thing to me,” Jeongin replied and they both laughed at how Felix had given them both the courage to ask the other out.
“Well, I guess we have to find a day where I can wine and dine you,” Chan said with a wink. In a brief moment of courage, he leaned over and gave Jeongin a small kiss on the cheek and smiled at him.
“I guess we have,” Jeongin said in a low voice, but he couldn’t contain his smile and smiled brightly at Chan.
“Now we need to get out of here, before they start locking up the place,” he said and started to pull Chan towards the door. While they walked out of the door and out of the school, they both had a good feeling about all this and couldn’t wait for the next chapter of their life to begin.

Beta Reading: A Guide
Hey everyone!
I'm Hics, your neighbourhood writer, editor and professional procrastinator <3 I realised my writing advice series has gone a little cold so I thought I might freshen it up with a quick guide on beta-reading!!!!
Now before we begin, I thought I might just state up front that BETA READING IS NOT THE SAME AS PROFESSIONAL EDITING...if you're looking for tips on the later, I do have a few guides on constructive criticism but am planning on doing one up for editing as well!
So lets jump straight into beta reading!
What's a Beta Reader?
In the publishing world, we usually roughly categorise our readers into two groups. 'Alpha' readers are generally your experienced reader who will look over unpolished/first drafts of a work to give opinions on direction, concepts and story progression. This allows an author to shift/refine their outlook over their own work before coming up with a polished piece of writing that they can present to an audience/publisher. 'Beta' readers are responsible for reading a POLISHED piece of work to give opinions on reader appeal, outreach to intended audience and provide a moral boost to the writer :) Their role is less to critique the impact/intent of a piece of writing and more to give a well-crafted opinion on how the writing holds on its own.
Often in more casual settings the roles of the above two readers can overlap!
What is the role of a Beta Reader?
If you are considering becoming a beta reader or looking for one, here is some of the key information a beta reader should provide:
A good understanding of the audience your work is suited for/ an idea of how well your work reaches to your target audience! (e.g. is your slow-burn fan-fiction really centred around the relationship or does it go off on a tangent?)
Feedback on places you can improve/edit your work (e.g. does your slipstream metafiction have too many recurring motifs for the audience to relate to?)
Some of the best features of your work/writing style!
Your beta-reader is often the last stop before your writing train reaches the big, wide world! At this point, you're all ready for your work to be released and they're just here to top up your supplies and give you a pat on the back before you set free <3
How do I become a good Beta Reader?
Read! The more exposure you have of writing and its genres (even ones that you don't usually beta for), the more tailored and specific your advice will be :)
Choose works to read in a form/style you are comfortable in! Don't read over someone's ancient greek play if you haven't heard of the Iliad :) Even though having a wide variety of skills and experiences are useful for a beta-reader, it is important that you provide relevant and valid advice to your writer!
Give personal and specific feedback! Something that I try and include in my beta reading are some of my favourite quotes from the text that really emulate that writer's message. Not only does this help the writer realise the most poignant parts of their writing, it also gives them a moral boost!
How do I choose a beta reader for my work?
Find someone who has experience in the type of writing you do! If you're writing fan-fiction for example, don't get a beta-reader who has never read/watched the original text before!
Pick an unbiased friend/person who you know will not be afraid to provide you with feedback/opinions AND will also not tear apart your work.
Trust your gut instinct. Often you already have an idea of who will provide the best advice for your writing!
So there it is folks, a quick and messy guide to beta-reading! Questions and comments are most welcome; my ask box and DMs are always open <3 If you're interested in beta-reading/looking for a beta-reader, hit me up and I'd love to help/scout around with you! I also do a bit of beta-reading here and there too (more editing outside of tumblr but I'd love to read your work) <3
Happy reading!
<3 Hics

It was a brilliant prank! No one could convince any of the marauders otherwise. They had tirelessly worked at the charms required. With some creative problem-solving, they found a solution for everything but one thing. They needed a tape. They needed the tape. One that belonged to a certain redhead, who also happened to be prefect. Which meant that they could not let on why they needed it.
“You ask her, Moony. She trusts you,” Peter urged, eyes on the tawny-haired boy, hanging upside-down off his mattress. Giving his head a little shake. “I’d like to keep it that way. She still thinks I quietly disapprove of our antics.” He sucked his teeth and dangled his arm towards Sirius, who was sitting on the floor beside his bed, in a feeble attempt to nudge him. “Padfoot can do it. She likes him."
Sirius snorted at that, rolling his eyes at the Rubik’s cube in his hands. Not even bothering to look up from his puzzle, he replied. “There is no way she trusts me with the tape. I still have like six somewhere in my trunk and her copy of Something Wicked.” He shrugged simply, eliciting a groan from the rest of the room. Because he was right. She was not going to lend her his favourite tape with a track record like that.
“I could ask, but she’ll know we’re up to something,” Peter added, and the collective agreed with a sigh and a nod. Which left one person. For the first time since the conversation started, even Sirius looked up. The corners of his lips turned up into a sly smile, watching James’s hand shoot up in front of him. “No. Absolutely not,” he protested.
“Prongs, you’re our only hope!” Remus smirked, turning himself around as he started to feel the vertigo setting in. "It seems like a good way to see if she really warmed up to you,” he offered, folding his arms under his chin. “If you can’t flirt your way to the tape, you are not ready to ask her out yet,” Sirius added with a curd nod, like it was a simple fact of life.
“And she’ll love it! She just doesn’t know it yet." Peter joined in the assault. Clearly, three out of four had decided that this was for the best. “Look, James, you can volunteer, or we can call a vote.” There was another round of agreeing hums, followed by a sigh of defeat and James slumping his shoulders.
He took a moment to gather himself before getting up off their dorm room floor. “I hate all of you.” He announced, rolling his shoulders back and getting ready to hype himself up for what he was about to do. “Yes, yes, now brush your teeth and go get our tape!” Sirius told him, giving the bespectacled boy a thumbs up before shooing him away. A faint good fortune followed him out the door.
Wiping his hands on his jeans, James shifted his weight and waited for Lily to notice him. He did not want to interrupt her chatting with a set of second-years who were clearly asking her a question. She had that look about her—the friendly smile and the slight tilt to her chin. She was trying to look taller and more in charge. He could almost see her emulating Professor McGonagall in the way she held her hands and touched their shoulders as they walked away.
James was so engrossed in the little gestures that he missed the big one. She turned on her heel, placing her hands on her hips. “Can I help you, Potter?” Lily sighed, arching a brow at him as she caught him staring at her. Causing him to blink back to life, smiling apologetically. “No. Wait, yes. Yes, you can help me.” He stammered, running a hand through his hair, his fingers knotting in the nape of his neck. “I was wondering if I could borrow your ABBA tape."
Her face froze for a moment, only her eyes moving. Scanning him from top to bottom, his head tilting slowly as if deciding whether to humour him or not, “Why?” Lily asked, licking her lips, clearly still deciding. “I have the insatiable need to listen to Dancing Queen,” James replied with a closed-mouth smile. “Why?” She repeated it, rightfully not believing him.
Clearing his throat, James prepared to lie by omission. Though before he could say something, she reached into her bag and pulled out her purple Walkman. Holding it out to him impatiently. “Don’t make me regret it, Potter."
Both of his hands wrapped around the device, and he nodded eagerly. “I could kiss you right now!” There was an awkward pause where James considered scribbling back, wishing he could shove the words back into his mouth. When something unexpected happens. Lily smiled, her eyes focusing on the fireplace as she spoke. “If you manage to not get it confiscated, I’ll consider it.”
Her words had left him speechless, an idiotic smile on his face, watching her walk away, her hips swaying. Pushing his glasses back up his nose, James rushed back up the stairs to proclaim his victory.
Later that week, the marauders sat in their respective seats. Their legs bounced under the table in anticipation, which alerted their tablemates that something was about to happen. The class could feel something brewing, and so could Professor McGonagall. The head of the house paused, her chalk on the board. Slowly turning around to give the entire room a stern look.
As her eyes landed on Sirius and James behind him, she took off her glasses to pinch her nose. Even she could tell something was about to happen. “I undoubtedly will regret this.” She started with a heavy sigh, a pinched look on her face as she reluctantly added. “Let us all take five minutes to regain our decorum.” She sat down at her desk, waiting for whatever the boys had planned to unfold.
Like clockwork, the moment the witch sat down at her desk, the shutters closed. Leaving nothing but the flickering bulbs of coloured light summoned by James. A muttered amplification charm from Remus clicked on, and Dancing Queen started to blast through the headphones.
There was a moment of hesitation when the students looked between the sound and the professor. Trying to decide if it would be worth the trouble they would get into for enjoying this. Just as the chorus set in, Professor McGonagall made a dismissive waving motion with her hands. Trying her best and failing to hide the smile that tugged at her lips, “Dance party!” The quartet announced enthusiastically. Not wanting to waste the precious time that they were allotted, the quartet urged people to their feet. People shimmied off their chairs, some deciding that being on top of them was better than the narrow aisle between the seats. Friends finding each other, hands locking, and people being spun. Marlene, Mary, and Dorcas climbed onto their desks to do their best lip-sync performance of the song.
Sirius, who winked as he released him, fell into the arms of Alice and spun around James. Being caught by Frank’s waiting arms, only to come face-to-face with Lily. “And? Worth a kiss?” He posed, watching her face break into a brilliant smile. She reached onto her tiptoes, placing a kiss on her blushing cheeks.

Arise in Perfect Light
Among the souls born of the First Flame is the soul taken by Gwyn. 太陽の光の王グウィン is his title as given in the Dark Souls introduction: Gwyn, Lord of Sunlight. 太陽 taiyō, the sun, is etymologically linked to 陰陽, the dualistic cosmic forces known in English as yin and yang. Specifically 陽 yō is the bright, masculine, positive association of yang.
Sunlight seen in this way symbolizes heavenly perfection. Places connected to light are marvels of beauty. Anor Londo is no exception, with its classically beautiful white stone, carved surface decorations on nearly every structure, and mechanisms still working despite a lengthy period of neglect. To walk through Anor Londo is to be invited to marvel at what it could have been during its height.
Even Gwyn’s children are not immune, but rather are expected to hold to the impossible standard the Lord of Sunlight sets. One was banished and shunned in retaliation for an unrecorded transgression: Lord Gwyn's firstborn was a god of war, but his foolishness led to a loss of the annals, and rescinding of his deific status. Today, even his name is not known.
Another, kept in hiding for the accident of his* birth:
Gwyndolin, all too aware of his repulsive, frail appearance, created the illusion of a sister Gwynevere, who helps him guard over Anor Londo. An unmasking of these deities would be tantamount to blasphemy.
For one, it’s a matter of behavior; for another, appearance and inclinations that do not match the expectations of the surrounding society. Gwynevere, middle child, seems to hold a favored position - her items describe her as a beloved icon of bounty and comfort.
The miracles of Gwynevere, the princess cherished by all, grant their blessing to a great many warriors.
Gwyn himself is more of a cipher. It’s indistinct in both English and Japanese whether he was called the god of the sun before taking up his Lord Soul. His statues depict him with both physical strength and hale age, signs of both power and wisdom. Indeed, his generous actions in dividing the might of the “ultimate soul” among his children and his people reflect a great spirit.
Lord Gwyn, bearer of the ultimate soul, divided that power among his clan before linking the flame.
…Gwyn wielded the bolts of the sun, but before linking the fire, divided that power amongst his children, and set off with only this greatsword as his companion.
Despite his fears, his failures, and the horrific effect of his curse on the entire land, Gwyn is presented over and over again as the mythical ideal of a good king. He's held up as worthy of emulation while the Chosen Undead strives to succeed the Lord of Sunlight.
That idealized presence is shattered by his final appearance. Even Gwyn is unable to live up to the standard he set. It is part and parcel of his tragedy that neither a soul of perfect light, nor a legend larger than even a god’s life, can protect him from the curse he invoked.
*I’ll be using masculine pronouns for Gwyndolin. This is a headcanon, and I won’t judge you for yours.

Commonly Asked Questions.
I get asked the same 3-5 questions all the time, so I thought I might make this new lil pinned post to help everyone out! But first, I want to thank you all for visiting my blog!
Do you take requests?
No, I do not.
Are your commission open?
Yes currently! Honestly now a days they’re almost always open. You can check them out on my website HERE!
Are you okay with gift art?
Of course! I would be flattered! If you’d like, you can find most of my characters here on toyhouse (I promise to update it soon!)!
How do you get the retro/vhs effects on your art?
I actually made a tutorial on that here! But honestly at the end of the day it’s a lot of “I plug this picture into several different apps and video editing software.” I wish I could give you a simple answer, but there is no easy way to do it that’s the same every time. I rarely if ever do it the same way back to back. Some colors look better when edited in Photoshop, some in Photomosh Pro. I pay almost $100 a month to have access to all of the software I use to make these effects because it’s part of my job. But luckily you can find so many free tutorials and apps out there, you just need to be curious and try new things!
What do you use to draw?
Another vague answer whoo! Sorry, but I use so many things to draw! But usually it’s sketch/ink/color/shade in Paint Tool Sai, and then move it to Photoshop to add the background, effects and details. I also use Procreate and Clip Studio from time to time. When it comes to traditional, it’s usually standard cardstock or a mixed media sketchbook. Then I draw and color with microns, copic pens, jelly rollers/gel pens, prisma colored markers and copic markers.
Did you draw the backgrounds in your art? And if you use screenshots, where do you get them?
In the majority of my pictures, I use screenshots from old cartoons. I get these screenshots from the shows themselves. My friend is kind enough to set up a program that takes snapshots hundreds of times during the show. Then when the episode is over, they send them to me. I then spend HOURS, going through thousands of images and delete all but the good pieces. A majority of the time they take a lot of editing to be usable. I have to clean them up, remove character and scale the images.
This isn’t always the case however! I do often draw my own backgrounds! If you ever want to know, feel free to ask!
As for the more aesthetic/abstract backgrounds, I make those myself! I spent far too much money buying licenses and rights to use tons of different patterns and vectors. With those, I love recreating authentic backgrounds in the style of those seen in the 80s and 90s!
I see you draw a lot of Transformation/Chubby/(insert common movie trope here). Are you a fetish artist?
No, I am not a fetish artist. Do I draw art that might be someone’s fetish? Do I take commissions from people with a fetish for this subject matter? Yes, of course. But people need to realize, furry characters alone are a kink to some people. For me the difference is in how it’s drawn. And I personally do not draw my art in a way that sexualizes the piece.
I love drawing transformation scenes, people being swallowed by a monster, extra big tummies, but not because it’s something that I find hot. I just like drawing fun scenes. I get bored of just drawing a character standing in place all the time. I like drawing wacky scenes!
A lot of my love for these come from cartoons. Edmund getting turned into a cat in Rock a Doodle. Hercules getting swallowed by the hydra. Kaa hypnotizing... everyone xD It’s just a story telling tool and sometimes it’s fun to draw! I’m not into hypno but I do like drawing big, colorful eyes. I’m just whatever about tf but I love drawing the swirling magic effects and the character changing from human to animal. It’s just cool to me!
In short, when I draw these things, it’s like I get to draw scenes from cartoons and movies in my style. It’s so wonderful to attempt to emulate some of the effects and details they used in movies from my childhood. It’s not about the hand changing into a paw for me, it’s the magical sparkles and how it’s so bright and vibrant compared to everything else. Where you see it go from hand to paw, that’s what I love drawing about tf art! Or being able to exaggerate the body and make a character look weighty by making them really round. Getting to draw a comically big mouth, giving a fun and interesting perspective shot. I think that stuff is so neat! Because it’s art!
I don’t care if it is someone’s fetish. I’m not drawing it in a way that’s sexual. Heck, it even says I wont in my TOS! Everything is G-PG here in Sunday’s Playzone! I’m not here to make that kind of content. It’s okay if adults have fetishes, and so long as you and others aren’t sexualizing my art, all is well!

“Oh my god,” I whisper.
It’s 9 in the morning. I woke up wanting some water, but was stopped by two ivory arms wrapped around me. This isn’t happening. I peer over my shoulder and Seb is fast asleep, spooning me, looking as perfect as ever.
“Oh my GOD, ” I this time silently mouth to myself.
He moans — not like a sex moan, but still enough of a moan to do things to me — in his slumber, tightening his hold around my waist. Oh my god!!!
I suppose I have no choice but to accept my fate. I will simply never hydrate again.
Feeling bold, I lay my hand on his, and trace the curves of his wrist and the light birthmarks on his forearms that I never noticed he was painted with. I finally get to see if his alleged tattoo is a tattoo or not. It is, and it’s a little semicolon. Fitting, considering what he’d shown me yesterday.
I sink further into the bed, scooting back a little in the process, really soaking up this moment. I feel Seb shift behind me — shit, act asleep, (y/n)! I shut my eyes, and try to emulate a deep slumber with my breathing.
“I know you’re awake, (y/n),” he taunts. My stomach does a flip at the sound of his morning rasp.
I fake an exaggerated snore, which earns me a light pinch on the side that I can’t help but laugh at.
“Sorry,” I sigh, “you’re comfy…”
“Mhm... First my clothes, now my body ?!” He exaggerates fake-shock as I flip over to face him. “What else will you steal from me for your own pleasure, (y/l/n)?”
I observe him, my eyes dramatically roaming his face. I place my fingers underneath his chin, tilting my head and his around. Getting a better view of the specimen before me. Inspecting a precious jewel. He’s giggling, and it’s infectious. It's so fucking hard to keep up my facade right now.
After much contemplation, I respond, “Your hair.”
“What? Why?” he asks, brows furrowed as he beams a smile.
“It’s super fluffy lookin’. Would make a good pillow.”
Seb shrugs as he sits up to pop his back, while I roll onto mine. Morning breath, bedhead, and all, he’s still one of the most attractive people I’ve ever met. I can only imagine how crusty I look, on the other hand.
“Sorry about knocking out so fast last night,” I sheepishly apologize.
“Me too,” he follows. “I tried waiting until you stopped leaning on me to sneak out, but once 4ish came around, I nodded off.”
“Oh Yoba, I fell asleep on you?”
He laughs, “It’s fine, I was just glad you were getting some rest after the tough day you had.” The butterflies in my tummy flutter at his concern. “Mom’s gonna be so annoying about this, though,” he groans as he stretches his arms over his head, subsequently rubbing his eyes.
“Why? Is she not a fan of you sleeping out?”
He chuckles, shaking his head, “She hasn’t worried about my whereabouts in over a decade, probably.”
He flops back down next to me, and I shimmy onto my side to face him, blushing at how close we are once more.  Ha... I thought Sam hovering over me on the beach felt so scandalous , meanwhile I’m just comfortably bashful with this whole hunk a couple of inches away.
“It’s kind of funny, uh…” he goes on, sighing and closing his eyes. “She’s been wanting to set us up.”
“ O-oh?”
“Yeah…” He sighs, his lids opening to reveal the deep indigo orbs locking onto my (e/c) ones. “She thinks you’re really great, (y/n).”
I feel so frickin’ soft — Robin’s been so caring and helpful towards me. It’s just rad to know it was genuine, you know? Not just out of moral obligation or something… A shy smile creeps up on me.
“Which is why,” he sighs, propping himself up on his side, “she’s going to pester me for sleeping here. And why she thinks we would be a good match. Allegedly...” He shrugs and rolls his eyes teasingly during that last word. I spot the corner of his mouth twitching, underneath the light blush across his skin.
“Who woulda thunk,” I respond quietly, reaching up to touch and admire his dark quartz — onyx, maybe? — gauges, “that I’d be such a hot commodity in the valley?”
Seb tilts his head a little to let me get a better look at his piercings, his gaze honing back onto me once I lower my hand. “Of course. What else are all, like, 5 of us here going to do when a cute new girl shows up?”
...Cute?
I lean up a little to match him, as my face contorts into a shit-eating grin. “Cute, huh?” I pair it with an annoying dance of my eyebrows.
Seb glares at me, a mischievous glint in his eye, and he pushes me back down to where I was. He scoots over a bit. I assume he’s about to crawl over me so he can get off the bed. Instead, he maneuvers himself on top of me. He softly “mhm”s, answering my question, his face is no more than 2 inches from mine.
Our noses almost touching, combined with the slight breeze of his breath on my lips, makes me shudder involuntarily. I feel a deep crimson forming on my face, as if I wasn’t easy enough to read already.
Fuuuuck , this is hot… no! You gotta contain yourself, (y/n). He basically called me a bottom at the Egg Fest, but I want to be a power bottom, damnit! This is the time to Prove! Him! Wrong!
Seb uses his thumb and forefinger to gently take hold of my chin, and slightly tilts my face to the side. As he does this, he lowers his head down further, his lips brushing my ear in the process. “You heard me, baby,” he basically purrs.
“B-baby?” I squeak, stunned.
I let out a shaky breath as I turn to goo beneath him. So much for being a power bottom. I feel him smile against my skin… and then he’s gone.  He makes his way to my bathroom, chuckling to himself. Cheeky little prick.
For a so-called shut-in, this man knows exactly what he’s doing. Luckily, my hands are under the blankets, so he couldn’t see me clinging to the sheets to distract myself from the heat forming between my legs.
I lay there for a sec, and realize that maybe I’m actually kind of mad about what he just did. Very aroused - I’d easily still let him have his way with me in that moment if he’d tried — but pissed . Dude almost definitely knows I have the hots for him, which is whatever. But… should I just let him take advantage of that? Am I being dramatic?
“What the fuck was that bro ?!” I shout before he can close the door.
“What was what?” I hear a muffled Seb respond through the walls. I groan, loudly, trying to let the tingles in my legs die down before skulking over to him.
I wait against the wall of the shallow corridor connecting the bathroom with the kitchen. When Seb appears, I shove him into my previous spot — admittedly struggling more than I thought I would. For a twig, Seb is heavy and strong.
“Dude.”
“Yeah, what’s up?” he coolly responds, staring down at me. His eyes tell me he knows his effect on me. Or, that he at least has some sort of effect, if not the correct one.
Suddenly, I can’t form words. Maybe I’m just reacting so strongly because I’m incredibly horny for this guy.
What am I doing?
We stand there for a moment, my hands firmly cupped onto his arms, my teeth gnawing at the inside of my cheek. We’re looking into each other’s eyes, neither of us knowing what in the fuck I was trying to accomplish here.
I groan a “nevermind” in agony and smack the wall next to him before locking myself in the bathroom to cool down. I hear him chuckle from the other side of the door and just shake it off.
I almost forgot that I’m still wearing his clothes, and feel a little giddy at the sight until splashing some cold water on my face. After I have a pee, I turn on the shower, and brush my teeth while waiting for it to heat up.
Maybe the sound of me showering will be enough of a tease to get my revenge? Like, oh Sebby, don’t you wish you could see me? You know, washing my body? Uh… nakedly???~
…No. Stop it you little freak.
I look at my dumbass self in the mirror, staring into my annoyed, defeated eyes. I groan again.
I wonder if getting off real quick would release this pent up, sexually induced anger.
Only one way to find out, I shrug to myself, stepping into the water.
__________________
It did help a little bit.
I walk back into the main room, wet and freshly combed hair falling down my back, cheeks still rosy from the orgasm and hot water combo.
I’m wearing nothing but yesterday’s bra and panties, and it’s totally not because I want Seb to be as sexually frustrated as he made me. No, not at all.
It’s just that I put his clothes into the washer already… and that possibly turning him on would be an added perk to not having brought a clean change of clothes to the bathroom with me.
He’s sitting at the edge of my bed, phone in one hand and Cannoli under the other. The sound of my closet opening prompts him to look up, and out of the corner of my eye I can see him watching me. I smirk when I notice the device fall out of his hand. I peer towards him as he picks it up, and when he locks onto me again, I narrow my eyes.
“Take a picture, it’ll last longer,” I say, directing my view back to my clothes.
“ …Ok .”
“Wait what?”
When I turn back, he’s lowering his phone. That fucker actually did it. He looks so smug! I wish that I hated him.
“Y’know, Sebby , I had the impression that you were so nice and sweet. Truly spent most of my time in your care yesterday thinking about that,” I theatrically monologue to Seb as I turn away from him. I take off yesterday’s bra, and replace it with a dark gray replica of the tank top I wore yesterday, no bra underneath. We cannot be contained today. “Where the fuck did all that go? Hm?” I ask over my shoulder while flattening the hem of my shirt.
He shrugs, seeming satisfied with himself. “I could say the same to you,” he boasts, nodding to my half-naked body.
I roll my eyes, “Don’t get your panties in a twist.” I yoink out a pair of ripped mom jeans, and wave them slightly in Seb’s direction. “I’ll be in pants in no time.”
“Bold of you to assume I’ll let you in my pants.”
I snort a little while trying to hold back laughter. “Damn it,” I respond, both of us now snickering.
I pluck a fresh pair of panties at random, trying not to overthink things while a hot guy is watching my every move.
“Cute choice,” he notes.
“Fuck you.”
I’m about to head back to the bathroom to change, when he comes over and takes me by the hand.
“Hey,” Seb says softly, but sternly. I look up at him and furrow my brows, about to question him. Suddenly becoming conscious of just how exposed I am, I feel shrunken. Regardless of what he’s about to say, though, he’s visibly concerned.
“I just wanted to say that I hope I didn’t cross any lines. Today or in the past. Make sure you tell me if I ever do, yeah?”
I don’t really know how to respond, it’s like a switch flipped. Feels as though he read my mind during my weird, horny internal debate.
When I don’t answer, he continues. “I meant what I said, when I called you cute, (y/n), don’t get me wrong,” he lets out a breathy laugh. “But I value you for so much more than your looks. And I don’t want to fuck anything up or make you feel uncomfortable just because I get… bold , from time to time, y’know? Just say the words, and I’ll lay off.”
I can’t help but just gaze at him in awe for a second while I process how gentle he’s being now. I smile and nod.
“Thanks,” I look down at the pile of clothes in my arms bashfully.
He hums. “Now go put those on, you’re killing me.”
As if drawn by magnets, my gaze directs immediately to his crotch.
Oh.
Oh yes.
“ Bro , what the fuck!” he complains, covering the slight tent as I scurry away, fiendishly giggling to myself.
As I’m putting on clothes, I remember that it’s Friday. I missed the past month or so of Saloon hang outs due to being balls deep in yard work after the first I attended. I want to go tonight, but I don’t want it to be weird.
I opt to straighten my hair, so I at least look a little less messy than usual if I decide to have fun later. I don’t plan on sweating enough to need a re-shower, as I’m going to just spend today doing what I meant to do yesterday. It’s pretty sedentary work.
While the iron heats up, I step out into the kitchen. I’m about to yell to Seb that I can make him some coffee if he wants it, but he’s already doing it himself. This feels so domestic, I love it.
“Need any help?” I ask, startling him. I chuckle at his little jump. “Sorry.”
He shakes his head. “Just finished.” Stepping toward me, he hands me a mug. This is the same one I gave him last night… I peer towards the sink and it’s empty of the coffee spinner and couple of spoons I’d left in there.
“D-did you wash my dishes?”
“While you were showering,” he nods. “It’s the least I could do, since I’ve been loitering here all morning,” he says matter-of-factly. “And night.” He winks after that part. Bastard.
I finally take the coffee, feeling a little tickled that he thinks he owes me anything.
“You didn’t have to, Seb.” I take a sip. For fuck’s sake, I should’ve known that this dark and edgy boy would like his coffee dark and edgy too. “I like havin’ ya around,” I choke out while reaching for the fridge.
“Not a fan of black coffee?”
“Not in the slightest,” I chuckle, pouring some fresh milk – thanks again, Marnie! – into the mug. I open the cabinet above me for sugar, which is on the top shelf, and brace myself for the embarrassment of having to climb for it in front of someone. I lift my knee, and—
“Stop.”
That sounded so harsh, for no reason. Super hot, holy shit, but like… still harsh.
I look over my shoulder, annoyance clear on my face. “No?” I keep my knee propped up, ready to rebel.
Seb takes a step forward, closing the small gap that was between us. He looks away for just a moment to put his own mug down beside me, simultaneously tapping the lifted thigh with his other set of knuckles.
He’s giving me that look again. Same stare that he gave me during his weird shenanigan earlier this morning, except this time without the smirk.
I slowly lower my leg, hypnotized by his gaze and very clearly not rebelling. I’m totally flustered. He’s standing behind me, my back pressed against him for the second time today. He leans over me with ease to grab what I was reaching for.
He drops the lidded bowl into my hand and looks at me expectantly. He hasn’t moved. He ensures he isn’t going to move by caging me in, his hands clamping to the edge of the countertop.
“Thanks, ya freak,” I mumble, trying not to enjoy whatever the fuck this is.
He’s still not moving. Or talking to me, apparently. Ok, cool. Whatever. That’s fine. I’m fine.
I pour a few teaspoons of sugar into my cup and put the lid back on. He takes it from me and puts it back, this time moving some things around to get it on a more easily accessible shelf. Stirring my coffee, I glare at him. He beams, gives me a frickin’ headpat — what is it with him and Sam patting my head?! — and walks away with his mug back in his grasp.
I follow him into the other room, noting but ignoring that my straightener is likely more than hot enough by now. He sits at the table in my only chair, sort of giving me the advantage…
Even if my standing height is barely above his sitting.
Either way, It’s over Anakin. I have the high ground.
Sebastiakin?
No. Sebastian.
Don’t make this worse, (y/n).
“Ok we gotta talk about something,” I announce, putting my mug down with one hand and slapping the wooden surface with the other.
“What’s up?”
“Two things, actually,” I elaborate. “One, why’d you stop me from climbing? I do it without you around all the time, I don’t need help!”
“Don’t want to watch you hurt yourself.”
“Again, I do it all the —“
“Don’t want to take the chance of watching you hurt yourself,” he corrects himself.
Fair, but I won’t voice that I think so. I just narrow my stare at him instead.
“Whatever. Two, why do you keep doing that?”
“Doing what?” Seb smirks this time, but tries to hide it behind the mug that he’s lifting to his lips.
“You know what!” I whine, frankly exasperated from experiencing so much sexual tension today. He chuckles.
“Pfft, fine.” He puts down his much and leans his elbows on the table. “You’re easy to tease, and you’re adorable when you’re flustered.” How is he saying this so casually? “It’s just fun to get sort of cheeky with you, is all. Like I said, if you want me to stop...” Seb rests his chin on a closed fist as he gestures vaguely with his other hand, and waits for my response.
Basically admitting that I enjoy his flirtatiousness, I close my eyes to mutter under my breath, “No, it’s… it’s fine.”
He laughs and shrugs, " There’s my little weirdo.”
Totally gonna ignore that the use of “my” in his sentence made my heart go nuts…
“Oh, okay. So I’m a weirdo because I think this shit’s kinda fun, too?” I defend dryly, rolling my eyes. “That’s peachy, coming from the guy who thinks turning me on is, like, peak entertainment or whatever.”
He furrows his eyebrows and grins wickedly. Maniacally, even. I gulp.
“(Y/n),” he growls, sending a chill down my spine. He shakes his head at me, eyes visibly darkening like some sort of fucking hellspawn. “I thought I was just embarrassing you.”
“Well, yeah, what do you mea— ”
“You just said it turns you on, yeah?”
…Fuck?
I suck in through my teeth, cringing at my own words coming back to bite me.
I don’t answer, unsure of how to. Even this is turning me on, how am I supposed to feel cozy after admitting that he’s been rattling my ovaries around all fucking day? Suddenly feeling shy again, I lean on the table, head in hands. Without seeing him, I can hear his evil snorts.
I look at him from where I am after a hot second, palms supporting my temple, still unsure of what to say. Seb is still waiting for me to rebuttal. He’s gnawing at his lower lip, not in a sexy way, but rather like he’s trying to stop himself from saying something snarky.
“My hair iron is probably ready,” I mumble before escaping the situation.

I think that was the first time I've seen you draw any of the Wammy boys, and it makes me want to know your headcanons for them, either inside our universe or just in general.
Henh, I draw them from time to time. Probably not in the last few months, but... every once in a while~. ^__^U Oh boy, for as long as I've been in this fandom, I don't think I've ever really put my thoughts/headcanons about them into solid words before. I'll try to make this not a disorganized mess:
Mello
I feel like his rivalry with Near gives him a sense of purpose. A goal to strive for. Whenever he has a set goal, he goes for it 120%. That try hard attitude is exactly what holds him back though. Being so laser focused may stress him out and cause him to overlook things and make more mistakes or ignore simpler solutions. He forgets to take breaks, and his fatigue creates more problems, particularly with schoolwork.
We only get one glimpse of him "off the clock" where he's playing soccer/football with his classmates (and laughs after clocking someone in the head with the ball, lol). That one instance tells me that he might have a slightly mean sense of humor (he's also seen pulling some kid's hair and Roger makes him let go of them), but of course the kid was okay and he knew it. If he had actually seriously hurt someone while joking around, I'm not sure if he'd just laugh it off. Probably try to say it wasn't a big deal, but still keep an ear out to make sure so-and-so was really okay. Very tsundere. I may be giving canon!Mello too much credit, lol. Although, he does express that he didn't want to kill Soichiro in the end. The kidnappings were horrible scare tactics, but he made sure that they would be returned alive if the demands were met (fuck his mafia crew though, *snort*).
He'd be more openly caring with people he, well, cares about. Matt as an obvious canon example. I think it's very telling that Matt isn't present during the Mafia arc. Mello leaves the orphanage alone, and he doesn't seek Matt out until after his base blows up. So, he strikes me as someone who wants to deal with his own problems by himself and not drag anyone he cares about into his personal drama. The mafia and kidnappees are just tools to him, but anyone close is out of the question unless the situation is dire. Matt was probably the only person he could reliably contact at that point (he does contact and crash at Lidner's place for a while, but surely he had to have recovered somewhere after the blast before he could get back into the action). How he expresses regret over Matt dying while being part of his plan emphasizes this sentiment.
A character I really associate him with is Amethyst from Steven Universe, especially if I want to think of how he'd be without the pressure of that rivalry, and even with it. Amethyst has the kind of humor that can come off as callous that I'd think Mello would have. What really shines for me is their shared inferiority complex and how they deal with them. I see a lot of Mello's view on his rivalry with Near during Amethyst's arc concerning her conflicts with Jasper. Neglecting personal time to have fun because the complex is weighing her down and making her try harder and become a more toxic person to be around ("Who has time for any of that when Jasper is out there?!"). Her anguish at doing so much to get better and it never being enough to get what she wants ("I can't win... No matter what I do, no matter how hard I work..."). The whole episode "Reformed" where Amethyst keeps trying to make a form that Garnet (whom I associate with L) would approve of by comparing herself to and emulating other gems. Telling people to "stay out of it" when they try to interfere or stop her from doing something drastic. The difference being that she gets positive results when she finally opens up and allows people to help her achieve her goals and not hyperfixate anymore. By the time Mello finally reaches out for help and realizes that he needs to put aside his animosity towards Near to ultimately stop Kira, it's essentially too late for a happy ending.
The only aspect where this character comparison falls apart a bit is with how lazy Amethyst can be (not bubbling the Desert Glass pillow despite living right next to a sandy beach, not being trusted to catch a monster hiding in her room). However, my counterargument is that we don't really see Mello in his downtime outside of that soccer game just chilling. Also, I'd like to reference L's "monster speech" about studying even though they don't really care about grades. It shows Near there, but I think it applies to all three of them, and Mello's only trying so hard specifically to beat Near first and foremost, not because he wants to study and get smarter for a future career ("All that practice stuff is no fun.").
Matt
Hmm... He's a malleable character to me, and that's pretty cool. He seems like a "go with the flow" kinda guy. Tell him to do something, and he'll be like, "Yeah, sure. Let me save my game first." I sort of accept whatever the fandom wants him to be in the moment, no matter what it is. The fact that he's the third smartest at Wammy's tells me that he's an effortlessly smart guy. Maybe he's good at memorization and can visually remember the answers to test questions without having to study that hard (like how I was at school, lol). Maybe not come up with the answer on the spot, but if you put something in front of him, he could go, "Oh, right," and correctly answer it. He has a little characterization in the manga, but I only just recently finished reading it, his scenes included. He really only seems to be part of the Kira case to help Mello and that's it. He doesn't seem too interested in the case itself, but Mello asked for his help, and he said, "Sure, dude. I'll try." Thus, it's why we see him gripe about how much work Mello's making him do, getting sidetracked by how cute Misa is, and speculating whether or not Mogi's her boyfriend, lol. Just a chill dude overall.
His chillness makes me think that ordinarily he'd keep to himself. Probably not to the extent that Near does, but if left alone, he is more than happy staying alone. He minds his own business, thus why he doesn't dissuade Mello from his rivalry or stop him from leaving Wammy's House (not that anyone could stop Mello from doing anything). But if someone extends an invitation, he'll accept it and try his best.
Also, "Mail" is pronounced "Mile." According to the Wiki, the katakana is written as "ma-i-ru." If it was "mail," it would be "me-i-ru" or "me--ru" I believe (henh, the his name would be close to Mel). Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's "mile" for me, and it ain't changin'.
Near
The first phrase I think of whenever I think of Near is "little shit~." XD I say that in an entirely affectionate way of course. Although, that "little shit" attitude only comes out when he's actively engaged with someone else. Not necessarily hostile, but definitely a little condescending, and it's very easy for him to rub people the wrong way. Perhaps he knows he has this effect on people, either intentionally or not, and this is why he keeps to himself and declines invitations to hang out? He probably doesn't even like being around people (he judges people very harshly in the manga). Maybe even mildly misanthropic. He might resent that he's co-dependent and has to rely on people on the daily when he gets older and leaves Wammy's House.
The reason he has the best grades at Wammy's is because he can fully focus on the tests and assignments he takes and doesn't make many technical mistakes. Makes me wonder if he's a slow test taker or exactly a mid-speed test taker? Or maybe he's effortlessly fast? Then, Mello wants to be fast, too, and that causes Mello to make more mistakes due to rushing when he could probably get better grades if he took his time?
It's very hard for me to talk about Near without bringing Mello into the picture. Their rivalry is such a focal point with their characters in the story. The rivalry is almost completely one sided in my opinion, but Near probably encourages it because he thinks Mello needs that goal. So, every once in a while, he'll make remark or do something that will purposely annoy Mello, reigniting that fire under his ass to make Near eat his dust. In the harsh judgment vein, he believes Mello's identity has been shaped around the competition and that he'd be lost without it. Kind of like how Near canonically becomes a bit despondent after the Kira case ends: taking the L mantle, but just going through the motions. Detective work doesn't seem like his passion; he was just groomed for it and is good at it. He'd be more than content to just lie around, making card castles and play single-player games all day. Maybe an occasional visit from respected company, but they'd better leave in a timely manner or be relatively unobtrusive, lol.
EDIT: Also worth mentioning, I have a ridiculous headcanon where Near has psychic powers in the anime. Thank the anime’s short hand in how he singles out Mikami as X-Kira by making his eyes glow and the room spin. I stand by that he blew up a guy’s head with his mind in the Re:Light special. Hey, if Beyond Birthday being born with shinigami eyes is canon, why not humans with psychic powers? Wammy’s is good at finding these eccentricities~.
Mello and Near's Tactics
I really do love how the narrative intention seemed to be that after Light defeated L, L was essentially split into two people with those two extremes amplified to 11. It creates a pincer attack around Light: Mello aggressively hitting the Task Force from the outside, putting traumatic emotional stress on them, and Near poking and prodding away from the inside trying to gradually create a mutiny against Light while acting like he's working alongside them. Mello brings the fear and pressure (and suspense in that he's just floating around doing who knows what after the raid), and Near seeds the doubt and inner unrest. When mashed together, they wouldn't make L exactly, but a being/team more effective and terrifying than L (surpass him together, indeed). Lord help their Watari, lol.
--
I suppose those are my thoughts on the main three in a decently sized nutshell. Feel free to say I'm wrong or unfounded. I'm no expert with these characters, so hopefully my headcanons and interpretations don't piss anyone off too much. ^__^

So I watched "Bullet Train" (A while ago but that's not important)
Since it's been a while since the movie came out I feel pretty safe but never the less Spoilers!
If I had to describe "Bullet Train" I'd call it Hollywood's greatest attempt at emulating less conventional methods of storytelling. With the original text being written by Kōtarō Isaka as a novel (and that end, I have no idea what liberties were taken with its production, and adaptation compared to the original story) and because of that fact it may be cringe to say that on my first viewing, I thought the film felt like something that would do well as a single season 12 episode cult classic anime from the mid-nineties to early two-thousands. Everything from the film's setting to the characters screams that sort of slightly absurdist charm that you'd usually see from that era of anime and manga. A collection of assassins board a bullet train in Japan for a myriad of different yet interconnected reasons strung along by a well-foreshadowed central antagonist and a mysterious yet charismatic dark horse, all taking place in a black humor thriller.
Yuichi Kimura is a father out for the blood of the person that put his son on life support struggling with his position as a father demands of him. Not knowing that his decision had left him as a pawn in a dangerous game he does not completely understand.
Ladybug (which is what I will forever refer to this character archetype as) is a charismatic if oafish thief who seems to live in a state of perpetual bad luck however never fatally succumbing to it. returns to work after a stent away from attempting to reevaluate his choices and steer himself away from some of the more unsavory aspects of his profession and more often than not failing miserably at it.
Lemon/Tangerine, a dynamic duo of hitmen who share a familial bond that goes deeper than blood. The former of the two possessing a humorous yet undeniably advantageous character quirk iconic of the film. While the latter becomes an instant fan favorite due to his relatable yet enviable personality. Both of which serve as the poster children for the film.
The Wolf, a self-made legend of the Mexican cartel who shot up the ranks of his organization with his charisma, intellect, and brutality finds himself in Japan to find the murderer of not only his beloved but his partners in crime. An impressive back story for someone who dies within ten minutes of being introduced.
Hiroyuki Sanada, a disgraced former yakuza and the father of one of the other characters also comes to find the would be assassin of his grandson only to be presented the chance to settle a grudge thats haunted him for the better part of his life.
Last but not least The Prince, the dark horse of the film whose motivations and origins tantalize the viewers the entire runtime. The character you love to hate and a secondary antagonist who far outshines the main one. My hat goes off to Joey King for her performance from this absolute menace The Prince is one of my favorite aspects of the film, the fact that the vast majority of situations she's faced with go her way which helps her be more hatable yet interesting as a character. I'm especially fond of her aesthetic as a character she's not a traditional fem fatal but she still leverages her femininity to achieve her goals falling into that gap-moe of having this adolescent schoolgirl design yet being this conniving machiavellian character.
Now after hearing that line up tell me this doesn't sound like an instant cult hit of a dark comedy. Overall I'm quite fond of the film and if you haven't seen it and didn't heed my warning at the top please watch it its quite the treat. for those who have watched the film and just wanted to read this for yucks, I suggest you read the source material Kōtarō Isaka's Maria Beetle if you can find it.
