been having a serious physical health problem for many years that is recently very quickly getting worse and as I undergo more tests and procedures while the problem actively gets worse, I got stuck having a serious talk about "purchasing at home accommodations" while they figure out whats wrong with my stomach and work out a treatment plan, because the costs of hospitalizing me for further testing/treatment instead for the unforeseeable futurewould ruin me, so I'm looking up some of the things she suggested, pricing shit out, and god half of this stuff was already out of the question because I am still displaced and man, and this is still technically cheaper than hospital bills, but I simply cannot save up/raise the money to get any of this in a timely manner

(prev anon with another bad half formed prompt)
what if after the whole pit fiasco jason still gets trained by the league, and then decides that he was kinda done with the whole fighting stuff and gotham feels like home, so might as well get an apartment there, and time moves on and he gets a job and gets into uni or smth and everythings good, and then nightwing comes crashing into his apartment breaking his window and jasons already had kinda a crappy day so he just starts yelling because what the hell man? do you know how much that'll take to repair? my insureance wont cover that! and nightwing is just stuck staring at his grown up little brother whos supposed to be dead, and chokes out a "jason". and now jasons freaked out because he didn't remember telling him his name, and thens theres confusion and dick asks why he doesnt recognise him and jason says hes never met him before in his life, and suddenly dick is staring at his little brother who's alive, but who isn't his brother and he can feel his heart slowly rip in two.
Lmao Dick goes back crying to the family that he found Jason and that he’s ALIVE but he doesn’t remember anything and “Bruce, Bruce, he’s getting his degree. He got into uni. He’s— he’s happy—“
And Bruce (after confirming Jay’s identity) just starts leaving him huge cheques and visiting him under the cover of “scouting for young talents” and “scholarship programs courtesy of WE” and Tim shyly starts waiting for Jason at his favorite café to get to know him, and Dick skips “subtle” entirely and drops by every other day to have dinner with Jason or watch a movie.
Meanwhile Jason has to pretend to keep his cool and not give himself away (he likes his peace and quiet, thank you very much) and becomes progressively more guilt ridden with every instance he does something entirely mundane (reading a book, swearing like a sailor, cooking spaghetti) and Bruce or Dick begin tearing up.

Money is starting to feel more and more like arcade tickets. You spend a bunch of money with the hopes of getting profit and than when you've racked up a bit after hours of work, you go to the prize room and all you can get is a single unwrapped twizzler or a small race car while you are starving. So you buy the twizzler only for some dipshit to come out of the wood works and call you an idiot for buying the twizzler because you could have put it in the bank and had a chance of losing it all or in 70 years you can buy 3 twizzlers. Idk. This makes sense to me

also like. idk what theyre gonna end up doing in the show re: claudia's death but i can so easily grasp how louis and armand would be so drawn to each other and end up just staying together for over half a century even knowing theyre set up for failure from the start like they both share this immense earthshattering desperate need to be loved but w louis its this combination of masochism and hedonism the desire to be cared for and lavished w attention and also consumed and overwhelmed and ground to dust. and with armand i dont think he wants to obliterate himself so much as he wants transcendent meaning and purpose. so it is actually a very (in the most literal sense) functional relationship where louis gets attention to the point of obliteration and armand gets to exercise his tremendous capacity for giving and louis cannot be too needy and armand cannot be too smothering. Like i understand how they can exist in such perfectly stable symbiosis that theyre in a concrete box a mile above ground with only each other for company for 20 years. theyre meeting each others most essential needs and in doing so have reduced each other to those needs. most successful miserable failmarriage of all time

Bukcy is gonna be SO EXCITED when Frankie moves to America with Rosie bc he can take her to a baseball game and teach her to heckle the opposing team with him. She has no idea what's happening but loves it anyways.
Bucky the day he discovers Frankie's moving to the US

Ngl, your last bit about Splinter taking all of Donnie's shit? Made me think about something that I haven't thought about in years.
See, when I was a kid, my dad punished me once by taking all the stuffed animals and toys I had and threatened to throw them out, leaving me there in a stripped room with fucking nothing except for the tiny stuffed dog I could hide in my hands (I was like. 4 then. So you can imagine how small it was.) I got them all back, thankfully, but. Well. That fucked me up, to say the least.
So yeah that hit home. Honestly a lot of your au hits home. It's... rather nice, to see characters actually go through the shit I did, honestly.
Thanks.

RIGHT?? RIGHT?? this is what its all about! That's one of my main reasons for making this shit! I wanna pour into it until you can see yourself!! I want characters I love to experience things they'd never be allowed to experience in mainstream media, cause people say it's "Too adult" to portray the kind of stuff that happens TO KIDS!!
AUGHAGHA!! I'm cradling this ask in my hands like a newborn bird tbh!!

spending a couple years in the service industry or working retail is so important.
For example, you may have seen a lot of stuff on here about "doctors don't listen to/believe their patients"
and as someone with a doctor father and an ER nurse mother i can tell you... that is for sure a real issue.
But as someone who spent many years working restaurants, hotels, and various registers, i can also tell you that patients are still the public, and "customers don't know wtf they are talking about" still applies
and if you've spent a couple years in service or retail and learned about dealing with the public, you can recognize when you are getting the same responses you sometimes have when dealing with the public, and know how to navigate it.
Other jobs definitely can teach you this, contractors and dog trainers and plumbers all have to deal with customers, i've done some of those jobs and the public is the public wherever you are. But there's just something about the intense nature of working registers and waiting tables, the sheer volume of customer interactions per shift that changes the experience to a trial by fire that forges a specific kind of understanding of the public.
It's a social ability that is just, so very helpful to have in your back pocket.
It's not just doctors of course, and not just for when you are paying at a register yourself. Any time you are dealing with a public point of contact, a banker, a call center, a secretary -- knowing what it's like to deal with the public all day can save you from accidentally being The Problem Customer, and help you recognize when you're, for example, genuinely requesting something that people usually don't really mean to request or whatever.
It is as helpful as learning several other languages, and istg the world would be a better place if it was the social norm for 100% of everyone to spend like 3 years in retail or FOH restaurants/hotels as the first jobs you work.
