how easy you are to need (redux) (4)
warnings: miscommunication/assumptions, unreliable narrator, PTSD, past medical abuse, past torture/abuse in general, non-graphic description of blood and injury, mentions of taking blood/skin/etc. from a person (doesn't happen), might be missing some feel free to let me know
-
By the time they returned to the cabin, Virgil had sunk into a petulant and bitter silence.
He stalwartly refused to respond to Logan’s awkward comments, pointed statements, and outright queries alike. There was nothing they could leverage against him here, not when his own life was the only one on the line, and it was already all but forfeit.
Sure, it might have been in his best interest to cooperate, but that had never convinced him before, and he didn’t intend on breaking his stubborn streak anytime soon.
Instead, he tried to focus on coming up with some sort of ward-breaker method, attempting to drag his thoughts back into some form of coherency. The longer they walked, though, the more difficult it became to pay attention to anything except the warm points of contact where the human was holding him.
The last scraps of lingering adrenaline had long since faded away, but his skin still felt like it was buzzing under the slight pressure of Logan’s grip. The sensation was prickling, and grew more uncomfortable by the moment.
When the front of the cabin came into view, Roman was nowhere in sight, but Patton was waiting, seated on the steps of the porch. The moment he caught sight of their approach, his face split into a relieved smile.
Not the way Virgil would have reacted to the sight of a packmate toting around a hostile monster with seemingly no regard for his own safety, but whatever.
He’d already figured out that whatever rules these humans operated on, they were much different than what he was used to.
Patton pulled something from under his shirt; a small, wooden whistle.
Virgil tensed slightly, hands twitching with a barely-concealed impulse to cover his ears, but managed to refrain. If sound was the worst punishment he’d get for his escape attempt, he was getting off lucky. Better to just endure it.
“A moment, Patton,” Logan called, and when Virgil darted a glance up at him, he found the human was looking right back.
His lips curled back automatically, but Logan didn’t even give him the satisfaction of looking uneasy. He stepped up the porch steps with the same measured steps as always.
“Wait until I’m inside,” Logan told Patton nonsensically, and then, “After, if you could grab the kit from the kitchen, I would appreciate it.”
Patton nodded. “Of course! Are you alright?”
The pause dragged on as Logan didn’t reply, becoming stilted, and Virgil pulled his gaze away from the distant trees at the edge of the clearing to see that those soft brown eyes were locked on him, not Logan.
He scowled to hide his confusion, eyes narrowing into a sharp glare. “What does it matter?”
The human’s face grew impossibly sad, but Logan cut in before he could ask Virgil any more bewildering, meaningless questions, moving towards the cabin’s interior. “Later, Patton.”
Once the door closed behind them, Virgil heard two long, carrying trills, and then three short rapidfire ones. The whistle was much less shrill than he’d expected, enough that he even managed to keep from flinching.
He was carried through the kitchen, where he absently noted that the firewood had been set down in a haphazard pile on the table. Now that he knew about the ward, he kind of wished he’d taken the opportunity to knock all the wood out of Logan’s arms earlier. Petty, yeah, but petty victories were all he was likely to get from now on.
Logan set him down on the couch in the same cozy room from before, as though he’d never left the cabin at all. The moment the human pulled away, that odd burning sensation faded away into an empty chill. Virgil shivered.
The couch was still as soft and restraint-free as it had been when he’d woken up on it, though some of the blankets had been dragged onto the floor during his extremely poor attempt at a hostage situation. He slumped back into it, feeling the slight dizziness of blood loss beginning to set in.
His gaze flickered back up to Logan wearily, but the human didn’t say anything, only watching him with that assessing gaze, seeing far more than Virgil wanted him to.
Uneven footsteps clattered around nearby, and then Patton popped into the room with a white wooden case, setting it down on the table next to Logan and popping it open.
He couldn’t really make out the contents with Patton standing there rifling through them, but the sickening smell of antiseptic was telling enough all on its own.
Virgil tried to shove down his rising panic. He should have expected this. Non-fatal harvesting methods often doubled as effective punishments for the more efficient hunters out there. Logan was the efficient type, so it was probably pure coincidence that he’d chosen this, of all things.
The best thing he could do for himself now was to force himself calm, keep them from learning how badly it rattled him. The more he gave away, the easier it would be to control him. He knew this. He knew this.
Damn, but he was out of practice at pretending.
A few years in the safety of his own company, with only the forest’s soothing presence at his side, and he had softened his defenses. Slowly but surely, he’d let himself believe that he was free of it all, that he wouldn’t ever have to exist like that again. Idiotic.
Fingers wrapping around his wrist jolted him out of his thoughts, and he yanked back sharply, letting out a high-pitched snarl on instinct. The grip vanished, and as the world came back into focus, he saw that it had been Logan, that the human was now holding both hands up, palms facing him, completely empty.
Where was— there. Patton was sitting on the floor next to the table, doing a very poor job of not glancing between them worriedly.
“—don’t want me to touch you, that’s perfectly fine as well,” the human was saying, cadence even and calm. “I can instruct you from here, and you can handle the physical actions yourself, if that’s what you’d prefer?”
Virgil blinked at him blankly for a moment as the words registered, and then nodded slowly. It was a unique sort of torture, to have to do it to himself, but it also meant that he had control over how fast it went, how badly it hurt. He was more than familiar with what could be done to draw harvests out, multiplying the agony of them, and wasn’t keen on renewing that experience anytime soon.
Logan didn’t seem irritated by his choice, meaning that this was a matter of efficiency, that he didn’t care if the punishment wasn’t particularly sadistic as long as it got the message across.
Some of the tension dropped from Virgil’s shoulders despite himself. He shouldn’t feel so relieved about something so small, something that wouldn’t save him, but he couldn’t help it. When faced with the heartbreak of the alternative, the very idea of these humans hurting him just for the sake of hurting him…
He was already going to be hurting physically soon enough, he didn’t need to be hurting emotionally, too.
The easiest and most renewable components to take would be hair and blood, though if they were really insistent on trying to get him into his shift, they might also want teeth or skin– the sort of things that were far more painful after removal, and healed slower while he was human-shaped.
Joke was on them; he knew exactly what was in store for him if he shifted, and he’d take a slow, painful death by exsanguination over that any day.
The first thing Logan handed him was a pair of small medical shears, seeming to prove his assumptions entirely correct, and the only reason Virgil didn’t start getting it over with the moment those metal handles touched his fingertips was because he wasn’t sure yet if it was hair or skin they wanted.
“Cut alongside the bandages on your side, please,” Logan instructed, immediately throwing Virgil for a loop.
That meant… skin, right? He slowly moved the blades of the shears over to where thick white bandages were wrapped around his torso, small blots of bright red visible along his side, where he’d reopened his wounds.
Before he could work out the logistics of using such ill-suited blades on the skin below his bandages, Logan spoke again. “You’ll want to slide the flat of the scissors down beneath the bandages first, and then turn the sharp edge up vertically. That way, the point doesn’t catch on your skin.”
Didn’t that kind of miss the point, pun mostly unintended? Virgil squinted at him, almost opening his mouth to ask, before deciding it wasn’t worth the trouble or potential backlash. Maybe they wanted his whole torso exposed, for a better idea of where to cut the best leather from.
Possibly a smart move, going by how bruised his skin was the more bandages fell away with the slow snip-snip of his shears. The flesh wounds were still covered by the gauze dressing, which was practically glued in place by a mixture of fresh and dried blood.
Curious, Virgil pried the cottony fabric away with one sharp yank, gritting his teeth slightly at the pain of taking a fair bit of scab with it. Simultaneously, Logan and Patton seemed to inhale sharply, and Virgil pretended to be too busy inspecting his wound to look at them.
“I’ll have to be more expedient with the wet cloth next time,” Logan muttered, exasperated and low enough that he probably thought Virgil couldn’t hear. Patton made a low hum of agreement, the kind of noise made through lips pressed tightly together.
“I’m gonna go put something together for replenishment,” he answered softly, using Logan’s knee and then shoulder to help push himself up to a standing position. His crutches were passed over, and he limped from the room with a farewell wave.
Random statements from his captors aside, his wound wasn’t as bad as expected. Heavy bruising and a cracked rib or two were never fun, but in terms of actual mauling? The long gouges curving along his side weren’t great, but they hadn’t pierced any of his organs, and they didn’t seem infected yet.
They were bleeding a fair bit more, though, now that Virgil had effectively torn even more of them open anew. Whoops.
Rather than hand him a collection vial or even just a finer blade, Logan spent the next half-hour walking him through the step-by-step process of wiping the wounds clean, applying some stinging antiseptic paste, and pressing pads of fresh gauze along the still-bleeding bits. Even the bandages were changed out for new, fresh ones. Maybe he wouldn’t get an infection at all.
After that, he was put through an even more bewildering series of questions, mostly about his head, the slight bump from hitting it against the ground, how the more deep set bruises along his torso felt (bad), and how his ribs felt when he inhaled deeply (worse).
A few times, Logan paused to write something down in a little leather-bound book. Virgil had no clue what, since the man hadn’t properly collected a single ingredient from him yet, let alone enough to require keeping written stock.
Finally, he closed the book with a decisive snap and began packing all the tools back into the kit, leaving Virgil sitting there, still all in one piece, the way shifters never were after harvesting sessions.
He didn’t get it. They definitely knew what he was, which meant they also had to know what he was worth.
Some amateur hunters were more ignorant about magical theory and the ingredients it typically entailed, but these three had known enough to locate ley lines and leave satisfactory offerings. Between the sword at Roman’s hip and the books along Logan’s shelves, there was absolutely no way they were unaware of the properties of shifters, of the natural magic that lingered in their flesh and blood and fur.
So they definitely knew. And there was no reason to stall in harvesting from him. It was smarter to start the cycle of removal and regrowth as early as possible, to squeeze the maximum amount of profit out of him before the final harvest.
Except… These humans weren’t a band of nomadic hunters with constant access to bustling markets and customers to barter with, were they? Whatever they harvested would likely be for them, and them alone. There was no point in collecting an excess of mediocre materials when they could simply wait until the full moon, where his innate magic would be at its fullest, and then get everything at once.
The thought made some knot in his stomach loosen slightly. If it was true, if he really wasn’t going to spend the next few weeks enduring a constant, repetitive torture, it would make it a lot easier to try and escape.
And even if he failed, it would only be one night, and then it would be over and done with. He wouldn’t be stuck in the same unending hell as before. That in itself was enough to take some of that unbearable pressure off his shoulders.
Logan was saying something else now, but the last of Virgil’s willpower had burnt out, and any desire to stay awake had fled along with it. Whatever they’d drugged him with was still thick in his system, enough to make his limbs feel dull and slow and his eyelids heavy.
His blinks grew longer and longer, and then he was out again.

+ three simple retextures; I might update the creeper model to use separate legs rather than the same leg 4 times, but otherwise I wanted these models to stay the same.
Most mob redux packs completely redo squids, but I feel like there's a certain charm to how they are now, they just needed a little bit of a texture rework.
As for the creeper, I've adjusted the texturing to emphasize the face, torso, and knees a little bit more; otherwise, I used the Oak Leaves texture- did you know that the current creeper texture is just the original oak leaves texture from alpha days? It makes it pretty easy to update the texture while keeping the spirit ov it the same.
this is for my mod Valley of Plenty! all posts r tagged accordingly

can you explain what transMad means to you using simpler words and shorter sentences please? im not phd i don't understand all these citations. thankyou
i can try!
first, I recommend starting with the easy read version of toward transMad epistemologies: a working text. It's not an exact 1:1 and i have many gripes with the obfuscating/inaccuracy-making work of plain language. But it's a start! I'm also v open to feedback on it.
I'm also going to try my hand at simplifying + summarizing the excerpts I included in the other post, in the rough order that I list them there. below is my attempt. it will be imperfect but I hope it helps!
transMadness, redux:
transMadness isn't just, or most importantly, an identity per se. It's a way of thinking, knowing, and being in the world. I got the idea for transMadness, in part, from words like "neuroqueer" and "queercrip," portmanteaus that also gesture at the links between different forms of bodymind noncompliance. Both are interested in norm-transgression, and both don't hold with artificial boundaries between types (gender, sexual, disability, etc.) non-normativity.
What transMadness does with this knowledge is to embrace unruliness and borderlessness as important to how we know what we know. If psychiatry/the DSM establish authority by creating borders and categories for pathologizing us, transMadness embraces intellectual interdependence and ambiguity, as well as willful refusal of "sane" approaches to organizing the world.
transMadness is also an embrace of failure -- failure to comply, failure to "live up to" cis/sane standards, failure to work without friction -- as something generative, not negative. This is something we can bring into our research/relationships/pedagogy. We can embrace it as a feature of our community, and use it to navigate challenging situations where access needs conflict - for example, when bodily autonomy creates risk for multiple marginalized groups of people.
Another way that I look at transMadness is through xeno/neogender identity and community. For me, an orientation toward coinage/invention is a deeply transMad one, which takes psychiatric/medical authority over language and legitimacy and turns it on its head. Xenocommunities/self-dx oriented communities reclaim and transform hitherto violent language to suit their needs and possibly even serve collective liberation. The communities that form around identificatory self-determination are vital to keeping us alive and loved, and to transMad antipsych resistance. In the face of diagnostic practices that demand individual rehabilitation rather than social transformation, this is deeply necessary.

It's actually fascinating to watch Abed's learning process through documentary making. Like in Introduction to Film, obviously Six Candles is very clunky and simple, but it gets the point across. It couldn't not, Abed very rigidly pushes to get that specific story, even if he has to cobble it together from clip art and manufactured conflict. The message is all that matters, because it's the first time he's had the tools to communicate it. It's not even really a documentary, since he can't get more than a little clip of his dad, and nothing of his mom.
And then he's making movies of actors playing his friends. They are shocked by how well he knows them, but I think the process of making the movies is actually his way of studying their behaviour. He is fixated on knowing them as well as he can, because he cares so deeply about them. But they don't get that.
Then Intermediate Documentary Filmmaking, his first real documentary. He assumes the format will be easy, but he learns to have a more balanced view of it. There are points where being a filmmaker clashes with being a friend, and he treats the narrative as more important than people's feelings. But overall, he's obviously not the villain here, and isn't the main target of anyone's anger. Pierce by virtue of having a big ego and no idea how to mess with Abed, accidentally gave him a very useful opportunity.
Documentary Filmmaking: Redux is really interesting, because what Abed is doing is transparently unkind to begin with. He is so caught up in the story that he is willing to watch his friends descend into chaos for it, even ignoring Troy being clearly upset with him. But he ultimately learns that he can't be completely detached, and he chooses to be kind and help the Dean out.
Advanced Documentary Filmmaking has him trying very seriously to investigate something from all angles, and he seems to have more of a grip on recording the truth without being clumsy or insensitive about it. You could argue that there's a moral dilemma in knowing Jeff's true intentions, but I'm pretty sure Abed always saw through Chang's bullshit.
Then Wedding Videography is kind of the polar opposite of Sixteen Candles, in that he's just filming whatever happens, in a situation that holds little personal significance to him. The only thing he insists on is no Jimming the camera. It feels like he is basically using the camera as a barrier for a social situation he doesn't really want to be part of. And not to sound like a stuck record, but he wouldn't be like that if Troy was there. He's gone from using documentaries as a tool to understand and communicate with people, to using it to detach himself. Which I'm not saying is bad in itself. It's a reasonable coping mechanism, it's just sad that he needs it. It's sad that none of his other friends has developed a consistent way to be quite as grounding and make him feel like a participant, not just an observer.

do you mind sharing what web browser add ons you use? you seem to know your stuff and i feel like there's helpful stuff i've missed
my firefox extensions are pretty boring and sometimes cringe
AliExpress Superstar - okay so this one is the cringiest one. i like to buy a lot of dumb shit and it gives me a camelcamelcamel-type graph of what the price has been doing because sellers on ali love to have 'sales' that actually cost more than the item does normally. not really useful unless you also love bad decisions.
BitWarden - i switched to bitwarden as my primary password manager from lastpass and i regret nothing. i've been using the free version no problem but i keep meaning to upgrade so i can use my yubikey again.
ClearURLs - this gets rid of all the stuff after the ? in a url, in theory. lately it's been missing some cruft in twitter urls, and also has been interfering with pocket somehow? very confusing. i give this one a mixed review.
Facebook Container - keeps facebook in an isolated shame zone so they don't know what i'm up to.
Firefox Multi-Account Containers - firefox has containers built in but you need the extension if you want to set certain urls to always open in certain containers (i do this for amazon, aliexpress, google, and twitter because i don't trust them). iirc they recently added security features that maybe make the containers obsolete anyway? idk man
Greasemonkey - for installing userscripts like the ones on greasyfork. i don't have as many of these as i used to, but whatever.
Ignore X-Frame Options - this one's Niche lmao. websites disable loading in an x-frame because they don't want their site being embedded on another website or whatever but that means comic-rocket doesn't work on their site. and i like using comic-rocket to keep track of where i'm at so i can go back later if i accidentally forget to read anything for six months. which has happened. anyway that's the only reason i have this extension. hiveworks please stop blocking comic-rocket, i already disabled adblocking for comic-rocket, i'm not going to disable ads for every comic on your fucking network, calm down.
Library Extension - EVERYONE SHOULD INSTALL LIBRARY EXTENSION. god. it has saved me so much money. stopped me from so many impulse purchases. and it lets me look up whether something is on scribd instead of just the library which is handy for me specifically, since i have scribd and my library can be limited.
Inoreader Extension - i use inoreader so i have the extension. pretty self-explanatory. tells me how behind i am on reading the entire internet, also makes it easy to subscribe to feeds when i find a new one.
RSSPreview - firefox used to let you preview rss feeds by default but they broke it because they lack my dedication to keeping rss alive
Snap Links - okay. this one is maybe a weird one. it lets me click and drag with the right button to make a box and then open every link in the box in a new tab. sometimes there is a long list and i want to read all the things. or else load up a bunch of forum pages to read while i'm offline.
Something Awful Last Read Redux - i don't have to explain myself to you but also you will take keyboard nav out of my cold dead hands
SponsorBlock for YouTube - self-promo is fine but i don't need to hear about expressvpn
stutter - it does that thing where it lets you read things one word at a time to read really fast. i already read pretty fast but sometimes this forces me enough to focus on something when i'm having attention issues.
Stylus - this is the good one after stylish turned into spyware or whatever. i need to be able to tweak css to live.
Tapas RSS Button - tapas still has rss feeds but it hid them so i installed a thing to bring the buttons back. i could probably be using a userscript for this but whatever.
Translate Web Pages - it's pretty much google translate, i feel like there must be a better one because this one kind of sucks to configure but i'm lazy
uBlacklist - just recently installed this to never see pinterest or fandom.com in my search results. i will probably add more shitty websites as time goes on.
uBlock Origin - still my ad and script blocker of choice. makes it relatively easy both to block elements as well as to opt out and explain that i clicked that ad on purpose, which is a thing i do sometimes and i need my ad blocker to respect my poor choices without forcing me to permanently enable whatever website i wanted to see.
Web Scrobbler - yes i still use last.fm in 2022 and will continue to do so. i am trying to get scrobbling from rockbox to work as we speak. it's 2022 but i'm reverting back to 2008. catch me on myspace soon probably.
XKit Rewritten - imagine using tumblr without xkit. i would die.

Vitae Redux --: Book Two: Chapter 22
“Harry Potter,” the older boy said in his thick Bulgarian accent. “I vos votching you fly at the first task. You ver… very good.”
“Er – thanks!” Harry beamed, his heart pounding. “You too! I mean, obviously – I was at the World Cup, and – well…”
“I vos also vondering,” Krum continued, “if you vould like to go flying. I haff not had the opportunity since the summer.”
“Yeah?” Harry asked breathlessly. “Yeah, of course! Listen, I’ve got a Snitch in my things, we could race to catch it. Tom can referee.”
“You know I don’t know the first thing about Quidditch, darling,” Tom said to his side.
“Tom can watch,” Harry amended. “It’s Saturday, so we’re free until lunch if you want to go now.”
“That sounds vonderful,” Krum replied, smiling – though it was less of a proper grin and more of a lightening of his usual dour expression. “I’ll meet you on the Quidditch pitch, then.”
Harry had never raced so fast back to the dungeons after breakfast, desperate to grab his Firebolt and the Snitch Tom had gifted him for Christmas their first year as quickly as possible, lest Krum decide that it wasn’t worth the wait. Tom ran after him, chiding him for skiving off studies to go flying.
“Harry!” he cried, as they stumbled into the Slytherin common room. “The others will be waiting for us in the library, have you forgotten? We’re supposed to go over the chapter on antidotes to poison, Professor Snape will have our hides if we aren’t prepared!”
“We’ve studied that chapter enough,” Harry said, as they made their way into the dorms and he started digging through his trunk for the little Snitch tucked away at the bottom. “Ah – I’ve got it. And how many people can say they’ve gone flying with an international Quidditch star? Come on, Tom – it’s just one study session, it’ll be fine.”
Tom sighed. “You say that now, Harry,” he lamented, “but what happens next time Krum asks you to go flying with him? How are you going to get all Outstanding O.W.L.s if you skip studying to play Quidditch?”
“I thought you wanted me to be an international Quidditch player, too,” Harry said, grinning as he grabbed his Firebolt. “I won’t need O.W.L.s for that!”
“Darling, you can’t just play Quidditch forever!” Tom exclaimed, following him back out of the dorms. “You have to think about your future, Harry. Harry!”
Harry was out and onto the Quidditch pitch in record time, grinning up at Krum, who stood at the centre already holding his own Firebolt. “Are you ready?” he asked as Harry approached. “I von’t go easy on you.”
“I wouldn’t want you to,” Harry replied, releasing the Snitch. “We’ll give it ten seconds, yeah? Best out of five?”
“Of course.”
They counted off ten before bursting into the air, the two of them twin fireworks sailing into the sky at breakneck speed. The Snitch was already well out of sight, so Harry broke off and began circling the stands, exhilarated. Watching Krum at the World Cup had been incredible, but actually flying with him – competing with him? Nothing was comparable.
Their little impromptu game was over far too quickly. Krum caught the Snitch four times in a row within minutes, while Harry raced to keep up. He managed finally, on the fifth try, to snatch it from right under Krum’s nose, bringing the older boy to a screeching halt as he dashed in front of him, triumphant at last. The match concluded, they descended, out of breath, to the ground, Krum clapping slowly.
“Vell done,” he said, as their feet touched the dewy grass, and Harry could tell that it was a genuine, if rare compliment. “I hope ve have the opportunity to meet again on the field, professionally.”
“Really?” Harry gasped. “I mean, Tom said I was good enough, but he’s biased —“
“Really,” Krum responded. “No von else has been able to keep the Snitch from me in years. How long haff you been playing?”
“Well, this would have been my third year on the team,” Harry replied. “But they cancelled it for the Tournament.”
“Two years, then,” Krum stated. “Very impressive. You should look into professional training.”
“Harry!” He turned to see Tom striding across the Quidditch pitch towards him, grinning broadly. “I saw you catch the Snitch right in front of Krum. You were incredible, darling.”
“Please, call me Viktor.” Harry nodded in acknowledgment, grinning madly. “Also, I vonted to ask you…” Viktor cleared his throat and glanced away awkwardly, “if you vould introduce me to your friend, the von with the curly hair?”

How do you manage multiple projects? Like seriously you have verse, seekerquest, and redux and they are all amazing!
Also a side note but I get so freakin excited for new chapters every week, I absolutely love this series!
(Seeker and Verse)
Thank you so much for enjoying my projects! It's a very good feeling to have someone read and like all these things that are so precious to me. I'm just as excited as you are when I post a chapter (and another one's coming tomorrow, to my delight).
As for managing all of them...it's a number of things.
I have a lot of free time thanks to my job, which allows me to work on stuff for a large portion of the day. That's the most major factor - I can afford to be busy creatively all I want, which I know I'm extremely lucky to have as an option. If I were working a 9-to-5, I would not be able to do all of this thanks to how much that would suck out my energy and inspiration. So, blessed be my fortune there.
Besides that, I've figured out how to manage my efforts and time into a pattern. Three days of working on Verse (one day each of sketch, lineart, color), followed by a free day to rest, then back to Verse. Mind that Verse is specifically designed to be efficient and easy to draw/script, so when I'm done for the day I still have energy to do other things - largely, write for Iterum. On my off days, I can get an entire chapter written, but on Verse days, I have to limit myself to a smaller amount of writing.
There's also the fact that...well, honestly, I just really love doing this. It's my favorite thing in the world. It actively feeds me all of the happy chemicals when I'm linearting a page or I've gotten to a chapter I've been really excited to write, so it's something I spend a lot of time doing and feel happy about. Obviously, I have periods of time where I'm not keen to draw or write this particular part, but I've gotten myself disciplined enough to just power through those until I get to the fun bits. That's not to say I don't give myself breaks (no matter what my friends tell you), I just know when I need a break and when I need to be tough and get the thing over with.
I would say that, if I'm to give any advice on how to do two or more things at once, it's "learn your limits". How much effort can you put into multiple comic pages before it becomes too much work? How long can you work on a chapter of a fic before you're exhausted and crash for three days? Can you do a long animatic by yourself, or do you need support? Questions like that are essential to creating without killing yourself - and once you figure out exactly where you can settle down comfortably without giving too much or too little, the sky's the limit. Don't be afraid to take breaks, but don't be afraid to push yourself past that bit of dialog you weren't eager to write. There's a balance there, a sweet spot that you CAN find and will be comfortable in.

how easy you are to need (redux) (5)
warnings: misunderstandings/miscommunication, assumption of harm/abuse, references to starvation and blood, food, drug mentions, unreliable narrator is particularly strong in this one
-
When Virgil next woke, it was to a low and melodic humming.
The drugs had clearly worn off, going by how terrible he felt just laying there. He suspected the pain might have actually been what had woken him.
His breathing automatically shifted to something shallower, attempting to keep from putting pressure on the huge bruise that was his ribcage. The humming paused for a brief moment, before resuming.
So, they’d wised up and actually started guarding their captive. They must not have been expecting him to be so active last time, probably believing the tranquilizer would have a heavier effect.
Of course, that meant that they’d adjust the dosage to account for his resistance next time. Damn, he shouldn’t have played that card so early.
Figuring he’d already been caught out, Virgil cracked open an eye.
He was in the same spot, on the same couch. Roman was sitting in the nearby armchair, which had been turned slightly so that it was facing the couch more directly.
The hum was coming from him, a cheerful tune that had completely concealed the soft sursur of a polishing cloth against metal.
The runes on the hunting sword weren’t activated, but the hairs on the back of Virgil’s neck abruptly prickled anyhow, a chill running down his spine.
Roman glanced over at him without pausing his polishing, completely casual about the threat implied in each careful motion. “You’re awake! I’d say good morning, but we’re nearly at sunset now.”
Virgil couldn’t bring himself to tear his gaze away from the blade, not even to confirm that he’d slept another day away. He felt as though the moment he glanced away, he’d look back to find the point of that sword buried deep in his chest.
He’d expected they’d try to get him to shift as soon as possible, but somehow, he hadn’t expected them to threaten him physically. They had to know he would call their bluff, didn’t they? No matter how much they might not want a monster under their roof, human greed superseded hatred, and killing him now would be like throwing gold down a bottomless well.
His mouth felt glued shut when he swallowed, unwilling to let a single syllable through. He reached for his earlier bravado, his miserable confidence that death would be better than being caught, and found the bitter bravery rang hollow in the face of that singing metal.
The human’s hand had paused mid-swipe on the blade. When Virgil forced his eyes to flicker upwards, he found that Roman was staring at him with a distinct wrinkle to his brow.
He jolted upon making eye contact, and then tried for an uncertain smile.
“No need to worry,” he said, shifting the blade up slightly. “This is for Patton, not you.”
The words took a moment to register, but when they did, they landed sharper than any slap. Virgil felt the blood drain from his face quickly enough to leave him dizzy.
His humans were— they were different, weren’t they? Surely, they wouldn’t go so far as to punish Patton just because he’d been taken hostage, not when they’d all failed to contain him in the end.
So why? Sure, Virgil had threatened— threatened with that, but Roman had been watching so closely, he must know that Virgil hadn’t actually bitten Patton. Except. Some hunters believed any physical wound inflicted by a shifter was ‘infected’. How tightly had he gripped the human before? Had his nails bitten into clothing, or skin?
The memories were fuzzy, hazed over by adrenaline and drugs alike. He wasn’t sure.
“He’s not– he’s not,” Virgil started, and the words caught and tangled in the back of his throat like barbed wire. He yanked his arms free of the blanket tucked around him and pushed himself further upright to meet Roman’s gaze more directly. “I didn’t turn him. He’s not turned.”
In the back of his mind, a familiar refrain: Don’t kill him. Please don’t kill him.
Roman visibly reeled back, his grip on the sword’s hilt tightening in surprise, and then he let go of the blade altogether, leaving it balanced delicately across his lap, polishing cloth still folded over it.
“No! I mean, I– I know that, not that it would– even if he–,” He cut himself off, took a breath, and tried again. “I was only joking. I would never threaten Patton with any sort of violence, sword-inflicted or otherwise, even if he is atrociously bad at remembering that he is injured and should be avoiding straining himself as much as possible.”
Even with the emphasis, his voice was more exasperated than truly angry, and there was no sign of deceit in his manner. Patton was fine, Virgil had just– overreacted.
He needed to calm down. Hunters or not, there was no point putting ideas in their heads. He tried to force his body to relax, to ease away the tension that so visibly lined his frame, with little success.
Patton was safe, but he obviously wasn’t off-limits for violent threats, after all.
“Right. Well. How are your wounds?” Roman asked, apparently having correctly inferred that Virgil wasn’t much of a conversationalist. “We can’t give you any more pain medicine, not without risk of making things worse, but nothing should be debilitating. Frankly, I’m surprised you didn’t tear more stitches.”
He’d forgotten about his injuries amidst the sudden rush of terror, but sure enough, his side still felt awful. It was like he’d gone a round with a magically-corrupted grizzly bear or something.
Virgil slumped back against the couch to try and relieve some of the pain, but kept his jaw clenched shut. There was no point in them knowing how well he was healing, and he certainly wasn’t going to be the one to tell them which wounds were the worst off. Those were the most painful places to be hit.
There was another long stretch of quiet, and Roman let out a gusty sigh, lifting his hand up— Virgil barely concealed his flinch— and running it haphazardly through his hair.
“Look,” he started, leaning forwards, “I’m not sure what you—,”
“Dinner is ready,” said Logan, who had appeared in the doorway between one blink and the next. “How is— oh.”
Roman jumped, like he’d been caught red-handed, but Logan’s gaze had already flicked over to Virgil. “Good evening. It’s encouraging to see you awake. Do you feel up to walking? I am more than capable of carrying you again if not.”
“Don’t touch me,” Virgil snapped on automatic, too consumed by the phantom memory of that odd burning sensation to hold his tongue.
“Alright,” Logan said simply, not a single hint of temper at the attitude. Somehow, the absence felt almost more frightening. “We normally take meals in the kitchen area, down the hall here, but since we have two injured parties, the sitting room will work as an acceptable substitute.”
“I’ll get Patton!” Roman volunteered, having subtly kicked his sword under his chair midway through the conversation.
“Get the sheath for your blade while you’re at it,” Logan replied dryly. “Patton will have your head if you get sword polish on the rug again.”
“I was careful!” Roman protested, but he kicked his blade up into his hand as he fled from the room regardless.
Virgil barely resisted the urge to stare after him, bewildered that he’d gotten through the encounter without a single cut. Maybe Logan hadn’t been made aware of the plan to threaten him, and his unexpected arrival had interrupted it…? Or maybe it was a planned entrance, and this was a psychological tactic meant to stress him out.
Virgil sighed. Maybe Roman was just too hungry to postpone dinner. There was no point dwelling on it.
“I’ll be back momentarily,” Logan told him before leaving as well, completely scrapping Virgil’s earlier prediction of a constant watcher.
They were still underestimating him, probably assuming the ward had demoralized him. He hadn’t ruined all his chances of escape, after all.
He barely had time to try and assess the room more clearly before Logan returned, an impressive amount of dishware balanced in his arms. He spent a few concentrated moments setting them all down on the low table and then rose to his feet and left the room again without a word, an air of distraction about him.
Virgil glanced between the dishes set out, wishing his sense of smell wasn’t quite so good. Just as he’d forgotten his pain until Roman had asked after it, he’d forgotten how hungry he was until there was food in front of him.
He wasn’t dumb enough to think it was for him, of course. Even though they hadn’t said anything yet, he had a fair idea of what the humans were playing at.
He knew how to count, after all, and he could plainly see that there were only three of each dish set out. It was another incentive to shift, one that had been used against him before. They’d wait until he was starved, he expected, and then offer him raw meat, or some other carrion that only a wolf could eat.
It was a little cruel of them to eat right in front of him, going so far as to move their normal dining location, but he couldn’t deny that it was an effective tactic. The sharp ache in his side had already been joined by a dull pang in his stomach.
There was a breadbasket, there in the middle of everything. The tops of each roll were shiny with butter, but if he grabbed one from the sides, it probably wouldn’t leave a trace on his hands.
… What were the odds that they’d counted how many rolls were in there?
By the time Roman swept back into the room with an amused Patton in his arms, Virgil was carefully arranged in the same exact position as before, and the warm roll in his hoodie pocket was well-concealed by the folds of the blanket still draped partially over him.
Patton was deposited on the plush armchair closest to the fireplace, and he offered Virgil a smile as he carefully propped his injured leg up on a stack of hand-embroidered pillows.
“Sorry for the mess,” he apologized. “We’ve normally got things a little more put together than this, but I was relegated to potato peeling duty after I dropped half the silverware while trying to set the table. Turns out holding plates and crutches is a recipe for dish-aster!”
Roman groaned theatrically from where he was arranging everything out on the table, but he was still exceedingly gentle with the tray he set on Patton’s lap, an artful arrangement of silverware on either side of the meal. “You already murdered two of our poor plates, now you have to slander their good names with puns?”
Patton laughed, and said something else, but Virgil was having a hard time registering the words through the low ringing in his ears.
It was so strange, watching them joke around and chat casually, as if nothing was wrong. With the hunters, there had always been an air of impatience or malice, a sick glee in making him suffer.
His humans weren’t acting like that, but there wasn’t a trace of uncertainty in their manner, either. It was as though this was just another day for them, as though they’d always been capable of doing something like this, so much so that it was an unremarkable event.
It wasn’t the outright hatred of before, but it still felt bad in a different way.
“Sir Wolf?” Roman’s voice broke through the haze in his mind, and his head jolted up slightly as he realized the name was meant to refer to him.
It was certainly nicer than some of the things he’d been called.
The two humans were looking at him with open concern, Patton leaning towards him as far as he could without unbalancing his tray.
“Hey, kiddo. Are you back with us?” he asked.
Virgil blinked at him strangely for a moment— he hadn’t gone anywhere— and then was immediately, sharply distracted by a hand moving closer in the corner of his vision.
He flinched back, hard enough to make his injuries twinge, and the room went quiet for a beat.
“My apologies,” Roman said, his tone subdued. “I only meant to check your temperature; sometimes infected wounds can cause fevers and disorientation.”
“We won’t ever hit you, kiddo,” Patton swore firmly, and the pity in his voice rankled against Virgil, like a hand scrubbing his fur the wrong way.
How could they sit here and pretend to be soft, when they were so willing to hurt him in other, more insidious ways? He clenched his fists, teeth digging into the edge of his lip, but before he could spit out the acid words building on the back of his tongue, Logan appeared in the doorway again.
“Apologies for the wait,” he said, carrying a fourth tray in his hands. He shot a sharp glance at the other two, making them recede from their hovering with sheepish expressions, and stepped close enough to extend the tray out in offering.
Virgil stared at the normal, delicious-looking food in front of him, bewildered. There was no rotting carrion or raw, bloody meat. In fact, the only difference between the dishes set out on the table and the tray being offered to him was that the food was already portioned, rather than in large dishes to serve oneself.
“I’ve added a few malnutrition aids, and they’re most effective when freshly brewed, hence the delay,” Logan continued, still patiently holding the tray out. “I’m entirely confident that they will help– at worst, they’ll do nothing– but if it would put you more at ease, I can sample the food myself.”
They’d dosed it with something. Something that wasn’t immediately fatal enough that they were willing to ‘sample’ it to prove it was ‘safe’. Or, they’d realized he really wasn’t going to shift to heal and were offering genuine health-aiding tinctures to speed up the process.
Better to figure out which it was now. Besides, even drug-laced food was food, and it was in his best interest to play along until he had an actual plan to escape.
He took the tray without protest, half-expecting it to be yanked away the entire time, and settled it across his lap.
“Alright, now that we’re all here, let’s eat!”
Patton smiled at him, and suddenly, the gesture didn’t feel false and insincere. His previous anger had melted away in the face of his confusion and, admittedly, his relief that he would get food at all.
Virgil swallowed, and ducked his head to stare at his tray instead of the others’ faces.
Those feelings were dangerous. Just because they weren’t as bad as the hunters in one specific way didn’t mean he could trust them. Not even if he wanted to. Especially not if he wanted to.
It was beginning to seem like remembering that was going to be harder than he’d thought.

Orange Side
Alright guys, listen. Hot take. I don't know how many of you are going to like this, but it needs to be said.
The Seventh Side/Orange Side Will Not Be Rage.
Now listen for just a minute while I explain. You'll remember during Moving On, Thomas and Patton both establish that Patton is at the core of a lot of Thomas' feelings. This includes not only joy and excitement, but grief and sadness. Rage isn't a part of him, you don't have an angry part of you when you list the parts of you that make you you. And before anyone says Virgil, Thomas' anxiety being a side is a result of him having an anxiety disorder. It's not just an emotion like it is for most people, it affects his day to day. On top of that, Thomas isn't an angry person... at all. He's giddy and cheerful all the time, and if he's not it's sad or anxious. It would take a LOT to piss him off to the point it could be called Rage. He might get frustrated at something, but Rage and Fury have far more fire to them than the sparks of "Why won't this damn coffee machine work?" It wouldn't make any goddamned sense if the seventh side he keeps teasing (that we've predicted) ends up being an emotion, especially because it's really hard to make a full episode dealing with just anger that Thomas doesn't even really have.
Now for the Hot Take I mentioned before. All I've said is it won't be Rage, but most people won't accept that without another alternative to fall back on (though in my opinion we should just let Thomas do his damn thing with it, we can trust him to do that much) so I present to you, these tweets;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now THAT is episode-worthy. THAT is a part of Thomas worth looking into. An ADHD side would get everyone involved one way or another, it'd clear up things within Thomas and the other sides that they don't really get about themselves. As someone with ADHD myself, it would make a LOT of sense to have this be an episode and would also touch on a lot of things most people REALLY need to be told about ADHD.
I can already hear the arguments about what happened in the most recent Asides video with Logan but hear me out. One of the parts of ADHD that I personally despise is RSD, Rejection Sensitivity Disorder. Not all ADHD'ers have it, but a good amount do. Basically we have a worse fear of rejection and failure than most people do. We need everyone to like us so much it's exhausting. If you're not paying attention to us, we're going to immediately think you hate us or don't like us, and if it's for too long we think we've been forgotten completely. Now, since ADHD is a MASSIVE impact on your daily life and thinking, it would make sense that Logan took a good toll from this. The RSD would have hit him like a TRUCK while Remus was ignoring him and making fun of him, and he'd be pissed off. It would also give a good reason for Logan to act the way he did in SVS Redux, appearing in a "less invasive" form so the Pure of Heart and Dumb of Ass wouldn't hate on him the way he thinks they are. Also, this leaves a good reason for the fans to grasp at for Logan angst content, and you can rarely argue with angst.
As for the color, I present to you the ADHD flag. Doesn't get a whole lot more orange than that folks.
Tumblr media
I could go on, clearly, but just think about how much sense this makes you guys. And if you disagree, don't come crawling back to me if I end up being right. But anyways, there's my two cents, take it easy y'all

TwiFicmas Redux: Shadow To Light
Tumblr media
Happy New Year to everyone, and I hope 2024 is a beautiful and positive year for everyone - I think we've all earned it.
As promised, as an auspicious offering, the first 1000 words of the STL Ch 13 draft. Mary-Alice is being profoundly difficult about this chapter, but she's allowed to be a little bit messy.
Here's to a great year with more regular updates and more of my self indulgent nonsense ;)
Fourteen. Starved for so long of beauty
Once upon a time, a lifetime ago, she made a choice. It was an easy choice to make, because it was the right one. Because she didn’t truly know what came next; her certainty in her own visions, her certainty in who she was going to be - who the Major was going to be - had made her confident.
(She doesn’t regret it, she would never wish to go back and make a different decision. She just wishes… she just wishes that she knew better what was to come. What it was like to be stripped right down to the bone, layer by layer, from loneliness and violence and hopelessness. She wishes she’d read the contract she was signing in blood and tears and time, just so she could look fate in dead in the eye and make the same choice without a second thought.)
The Major smells like… he smells like something she doesn’t want to acknowledge.
(He smells like home.)
She feels silly after the worst of her panic attack is over, and the Major is there next to her with his arm around her. She feels utterly ridiculous, actually - the stolen t-shirt in her arms, curled against him so tightly… She almost feels ashamed.
(Except… she’s frustrated. She wants to demand answers - when is she allowed to fall down? When is she allowed to break apart and have someone else put together the pieces? In more than eighty years, it’s always been up to her to maintain control, to be the thing that bends but does not break and she’s so tired. But she’s also supposed to be better than this. Isn’t that what the Major always said? Why Peter always resented her? Even Maria noticed. Mary-Alice is sturdy, reliable, consistent. If she falls, she gets back up. It… it would just be nice not to, just once.)
“How are you feeling?”
The Major’s voice is warm and kind and it almost makes her feel less pitiful.
Almost.
“Present.” Her voice is quiet but her tone is clipped and distant, and she regrets it when she feels him withdraw slightly. She’s wrecking this, like she wrecks everything. It’s all she ever does.
(Maybe that’s why she was such a good soldier; she knows exactly how to ruin things.)
But the Major doesn’t leave. He just shifts so he’s not pressed quite so close, his cheek no longer resting against her hair. But his arm is still around her.
“Do you need to hunt?” He asks, and she doesn’t know. Everything feels odd and off balance and maybe she’s not as back as she originally thought.
So she doesn’t answer. She just rests her head back against the wall and closes her eyes.
The Major watches her for a moment before looking away. “When I met the Cullens,” he begins in a gentle voice, “I swear Esme only made Carlisle approach me because I resembled a drowned cat. Hadn’t stopped raining on the East Coast for weeks, and I’d been roaming the woods the entire time. I was disgusting. Maria would have thrown a bucket of water at my head weeks before if we’d been back home.
“And Esme took one look at me and whisper-bullied Carlisle into approaching me, like I couldn’t hear every single word. She kept saying that I looked cold.” The Major chuckles and she’s close enough that she feels the vibrations through his chest and it’s… it’s not unpleasant.
It’s strange being this close to another person and not being on edge. Not waiting for the killing blow, trying to figure out how to get to their throat first. Making sure that she knows exactly where their hands and teeth are, that she’s prepared for their next movement, for the tightening of their muscles before they lunge…
(It’s very strange being this close to someone, at all. She prefers to keep her distance normally. But this… it’s not the bad kind of strange, she doesn’t think. She’s just so intensely aware of him.)
“Just imagine it, will you - Esme wearing a tweed coat and riding boots and a hat to go hunting, and I look like a monster who spent a week sleeping in a swamp,” the Major continued, “And she was worried about me, like I was a soggy kitten.”
She can imagine it, honestly; his hair sticking to his face, and that gaunt, murderous look he got on his face when he was thirsty. Weeks of grime pressed into his clothing, his skin, looking like the monster from an old story or some mythological horror rising from the riverbed. Nothing sympathetic or pitiable about him for most people.
Right now, she feels oddly grateful to Esme for looking past all of that and seeing the Major as he could be.
“And you followed them home?” She tries to make the words sound light-hearted, but they fall flat and ugly, and she wants to take them back.
That makes the Major laugh out loud, a rumble against her side that is startling and she jumps a little.
“No. I told them to fuck off and leave me be; I had to tell them that a few times over the years until I gave in and talked to them. Let Esme convince me that taking a shower and accepting new clothing was a right and not charity. Let Carlisle remind me that I owed them nothing by ‘visiting’ with them. It took a long time for them to lure me over the threshold.” The Major takes her hand in his; his thumb smooths over a patch of scar tissue, a repetitive motion that feels… soft. Nice. “I think in the end, I hinted that I was ready for them to ask me to stay with them. I don’t think I was subtle about it either.”
“They didn’t ask you before then?” Mary-Alice feels the frustration boil for a second. She watched as much as she could bring herself to, for many years, and there are pieces that she’s missing. They just weren’t important enough for her to see, or something changed and recalling what she’d politely dismissed was too difficult.
(She had entrusted the Major to the Cullens. It didn’t matter that they had had no idea, all those years ago, her visions had made the contract. And even now, knowing that it all came together the way it was supposed to, it upsets her that he had to wait for so long to be taken home to his family.)

Thoughts on the X Files Revelations episode and what it brought to the mulder x scully relationship?
okay i just rewatched this one so y'all are gonna get some exhausted bullet-point rambles from me <3 much love
1/
Tumblr media
the first thing that i noticed while rewatching is that when mulder and scully are speaking with "saint owen" in the attic, mulder is standing with them and engaged in the conversation until it turns to scully's personal religion.
when owen points out her cross necklace, mulder turns to face the wall while they discuss it, only barely peeking back for his smartass church joke.
this almost reminds me of the way he tends to freeze and avert from loss (his mother's hospital room in herrenvolk, scully in the ICU in redux ii, emily's coffin, the little girl's body in paper hearts, etc); he often tries to avoid realities that he isn't prepared for, as though he's surprised and bowled over every time.
in this moment here with owen, he's being avoidant and catty, but it similarly appears that scully's faith is something he's taken aback by, even just in evasion.
2/
Tumblr media
after owen is killed, scully begins the autopsy, and mulder continues his comedy routine/bible lecture.
when scully says that she believes in miracles, she believes that god's hand can be witnessed, mulder asks, "even if science can't explain them?"
this is really the core conflict of episodes like this, that center around faith or religion. neither of them know how to move forward outside of their roles, and so much of scully's position depends on only adhering to what science can prove. it's what she's told him so many times over the years in response to his own theories, and both of them waver in the loss of that absolutism.
a couple of episodes earlier, in nisei, she told him that believing is the easy part, that she needs proof, and he had responded, "you think believing is easy?"
part of what makes faith-centered cases difficult for them both is that mulder doesn't have it, and believing is easy for scully.
mulder spends his whole life wanting to believe in something that would allow the kind of comfort people find in faith. it isn't easy for him. it's hard to always be seeking.
he needs proof in order to believe too, but scully has her beliefs without the science that she holds him to, without the burden.
later, in gethsemane, she tells him that proving extraterrestrial life is not her dying wish. and he asks, what if you could prove the existence of god? wouldn't you try, like i try?
she says no. that god can't be proven or disproven, and it doesn't matter to her.
in revelations, he shuts down her claims of faith, and doesn't consider her point of view. when he leaves on another bad joke, the pause that she takes before returning to her work is so telling. this isn't how they interact with each other. something is different, with this case, with this topic.
the look on her face and the way she squares her jaw is almost of someone who's ashamed/afraid to speak up, who's biting her tongue. this isn't what she does, with him, either. and it has a different connotation on rewatch, with the things she says later in the series about authority.
3/
Tumblr media
in conversation at the motel, things haven't changed. mulder is still a laugh-factory, dismissing any explanation with religious connotations. scully is still watching him and learning from him, as she has been since day one.
when she finally just snaps and asks, "how is it that you're willing to go out on a limb whenever you see a light in the sky, but you're unwilling to accept the possibility of a miracle?"
he responds instantly, "i wait for a miracle every day. but what i've seen here has only tested my patience, not my faith."
he waits for a miracle every day. it wasn't that long ago that we saw him weep in a church.
"well, what about what i've seen?"
what about what she's seen? what about what she believes? what about her experience?
4/
Tumblr media
in the end, mulder's being a sweetie, bringing her coat and asking if she's okay. it worries him when she's not being logical. when she's acting like him.
he says it, in all souls, another faith-based role reversal: "i’ve never seen you more vulnerable or susceptible or more easily manipulated and it scares me because i don’t know why."
i hate to see people call him hypocritical for this; they both do it. they adhere to their roles so strictly, and there's something uneasy for them that comes with watching the other stray from what they find solidity in, whether that's belief or rationalism.
Tumblr media
this scene captures the intent of the script so well, it is sad. this is a sad episode. she's watching him and learning from him and she knows that she cannot share this experience she's having with him.
5/
Tumblr media
in one of the series' most affecting scenes, scully goes to confession for the first time in years. not to confess, but to confide. the language in this scene is so specific and emotional, as she tells the priest that normally she can talk to her friend about things but she cannot talk to him about this.
that's such an isolating place to be in, for your closest person and your most pressing struggle to be so at odds.
she tells the priest that she believes she saw things that helped her to save a life, but she wonders if she even saw them at all, because her partner didn't see them. he didn't believe. and usually he believes in everything.
that's such an isolating place to be in, for your hopeful seeker to turn a blind eye.
this isn't the last time that scully will be in this position, so alone in what she experiences, wondering if it's even real if mulder doesn't see it too.
and this scene sets the tone for so much of her character, as she confesses that she is afraid. that maybe god is speaking, and no one is listening.
i know this one is less thought-out than usual, if there's anything here y'all want to chat more about/go into deeper just shoot me an ask. kisses.
scully in this episode is something i've dabbled around with a bit in my writing before here.

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Thank you @missamyshay for the tag! 🏆
1. How many works do you have on ao3? I have 89 that I have viewable once signing in
2. What's your total ao3 word count? In total it's 865,145
3. What fandoms do you write for? I don't consider myself open for writing anymore; after my last 2 fics I plan to be done writing for good. but I used to write for characters more than fandoms: several marvel films, carrie, the show cloak and dagger, star wars tfa, horror, wonka, harry potter
4. Top five fics by kudos: my highest kudos were published before ao3 and fandoms changed:
Lust, Caution (Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
Café Con Leche (Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
Really Slow Motion (Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
Covetous (Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
Easy Ease (Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
5. Do you respond to comments? I always try to do so in a timely manner because I love it when my comments get replies
6. What is the fic your wrote with the angstiest ending? Hmmm... either Blank White Page because Brunnhilde doesn't remember Thor anymore, Running on Empty where Brunnhilde gets turned into a zombie so Thor could "live," or my current dark fic where Sapphire and her daughter are forever trapped inside magic jewels on a ring (though this ending is not set in concrete)
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? like 90% of them have happy endings or ambiguously happy endings.
8. Do you get hate on fics? Never got hate but I have gotten rudely written, unsolicited criticism
9. Do you write smut? yes-ish but I'm careful about it
10. Craziest crossover: Ironman and frankenstein
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? No but just yesterday I posted an ask from a stranger who never commented wanting to finish one of my now-hidden works. that was nice... 😒
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Not that I remember
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Not yet, but I plan for one of my last 2 works to be a cowritten one with @breadtheft1796. Love her to bits and always excited talk about it with her ❤︎ It's a mermaid!Sarah Wilson/Lighthouse Keeper!Bucky Barnes and we both like haunting things so I know this is going to be fun and I can't wait!
14. All time favorite ship? Brunnhilde/Thor, Monica Rambeau/Jimmy Woo
15. What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will? The reincarnation and soulmates epic series. It was fun while it lasted; there was so much I wanted to do with it, made many fics for different characters and relationships, even wanted to do an angsty wandavision scenario, but I don't think it really got off the ground
16. What are your writing strengths? I'm not a good analysis for myself so going off of what I've been told: "storytelling. You have a unique ability to transport the past into the present without destroying it. The way you treat time, and memory, and the complexities of living." And "Your writing strengths are specifically: setting, emotions, characterizations, character motivations, and small details (such as character nervous ticks, and appearance flaws)" from @missamyshay and @dragonmaiden79
17. What are your writing weaknesses? Like MissAmy I'm shit at controlling word count, and I'm a slow writer who needs constant encouragement and constructive comments 😭
18. Thoughts on dialogue in another language? I have done it before with Laura Kinney (aka Wolverine)
19. First fandom you wrote in? That would be when I used to use Fanfiction.Net for an old show back in middle/high school. Since joining AO3 it was Teen Wolf
20. Favorite fic you've written? I think I like all my works enough. But the most fun ones included interactive commenters, and building the stories off of requests. now that I think of it, I might say those might be my favorites
Tagging: @sarifinasnightmare @dragonmaiden79 @idontgettechnology @breadtheft1796 @leaofthewolves @citizenofooo @whiskeyncoke-redux @fushic0re @rainbowglittr @tllgrrl @cultofcreatures wants to do this, tag me so I can read your answers!
