How would kny characters hurt you in an argument?
Tumblr media
Includes: Tanjiro Kamado, Kyojuro Rengoku, Giyuu Tomioka, Sanemi Shinazugawa
A/N: Hello readers! This is an idea I got from a hc post on here, I'm not sure who made it but I give credit to them for this hc idea. Anyways, I hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
KAMADO TANJIRO:
I feel like most arguments would start becaude of Tanjiro's protectiveness of his friends
He would probably start scolding you for doing something he thought was reckless while fighting a demon
Especially if Nezuko we're to be the one to save you and get injured, he would probably be pissed off
Tanjiro is the type of person to bottle his emotions up, so he really just snapped at you
He seems like the person who yells and cries during an argument
He would bring up the fact that you had jumped into danger without thinking, calling you selfish for thinking only about the battle and not of your friends
If someone had gotten injured protecting you, like Nezuko, she wouldn't be able to say anything since she was healing and unable to stick up for you
You would just be too shocked to even say anything to defend yourself, along with everyone else, since no one has seen Tanjiro like this before
Once he finishes, he simply excuses himself quietly, saying that he's tired from dealing with this
Bonus!
Zenitsu would immediately rush to your side to comfort you as tears spilled down your cheeks
This would be especially hard if you had past problems with arguments and yelling
RENGOKU KYOJURO:
Now Rengoku seems like a type of person to be less of a yelling type at the beginning, but slowly builds up his anger to the point that he starts yelling
Usually the arguments are about how Shinjuro treats Rengoku and Senjuro, with Rengoku insisting that he can convince his father to be better
You try to tell him that Rengoku should ask for help to deal with his father, but Rengoku stubbornly disagrees
His demeanor during arguments is different, his eyes looking darker and it seems like he loses his friendly glow
When Rengoku argues back, he usually uses something your sensitive about, like if you had a bad relationship with your parents
He would claims that he's at least trying to fix his relationship with his dad, hitting you hard and causing you to go speechless
rengoku usually just stomps away from the fight when he's done saying his mind, leaving you teary eyes and with a broken heart
TOMIOKA GIYUU:
Giyuu always wants to avoid arguing as much as possible, always shutting you down when you want to talk about some problems
This causes you to get frustrated and start bombarding him with questions, like why is he avoiding their problems
Giyuu seems like the type of person to talk more than yell, but his voice is still strained as if he's holding back from yelling at you
Giyuu knows exactly where to hit you to make it hurt, taunting you about problems that you could never solve
His words would go to the point that he makes you burst out crying and run out of the room
He immediately regrets whatever he said in the argument, and ends up going to bed alone, covering himself in the sheets as tears of regret slide down his face
Bonus!
Giyuu wouldn't be able to face you for a few days after the a t in fear of hurting you again with his words
It takes a lot of reassurance from you to get him outside again
SHINAZUGAWA SANEMI:
Sanemi is the type of dude yo go all out during arguments, yelling and screaming at you, even sometimes going as far as you throw things into the ground in rage
You both seem like you're at each other's necks, not backing down from proving your side right
Sanemi seems like the type of person to call you degrading names, such as coward, selfish, etc.
You try to stay calm at first, but you have yo resort to yelling to get your point across
Sanemi is usually arguing to you about staying out of his and Genya's relationship, saying that it is non of your business
You end up running out of breath before he does, simply listening to him yell at you for a few more minutes before he storms out the room and slams the door
By the time he's gone, tears are already streaming down your face, breathless and tired from screaming your lungs out as you collapse to your knees, sobbing

everything happens for a reason
everything he went through. the darkness that he felt. the fear and anguish that consumed his soul.
it was all so that one day he could meet you.
on that fateful day, he was standing on that rooftop; he was about to take his own life.
that's when you showed up.
"please.. don't do this.."
words of kindness and... love...? words he had never experienced before. words that made him turn away.
tears rolled down your face as you tried to make the man step away from the ledge. he saw those tears. and he thought of what would happen if this teary-eyed bystander watched as he plummeted to his death.
and in that moment, you became his saving grace.
a/n - i really hate how this turned out but i have to feed y'all so.. DAZAI, poe GIYUU, nagito, shigaraki, and any of your self-destructive favorites

💧 • ° ` — “I CAN’T SAVE US, MY ATLANTIS”
-> PAIRINGS: Giyuu Tomioka x f!Y/n -> SUMMARY: Lovers’ quarrel. What could they ever regret about it? -> WORD COUNT: 2.5k+ -> CONTAINS: angst, slight swearing, fighting scene (myb?!?), & giyu is 21 while reader is 20. -> A/N: feeling angsty today lol. this oneshot is inspired by the song “Atlantis” by Seafret. u should check it out, it’s a nice song :)). the indented ones are the lyrics of the song btw.
-------------Loading…------------
Tumblr media
------------Complete!------------
The birds have left their trees The light pours onto me I can feel you lying there all on your own We got here the hard way
It was winter, and your lover, Giyuu Tomioka has been sent on a mission. You can’t help but want to fix things with him, and bid him a goodbye kiss.
But your stubborn self stopped that from happening. And well, your lover didn’t even bid you a goodbye kiss, he just went off without even looking at you. Guess he is stubborn too.
And then there you are, left all alone in your shared house. It was cruel. You were alone, feeling lonely, and scared that maybe a demon will just barge into your house knowing your demon slayer lover isn’t home now.
You guys have been together for 3 years, and well, you had fights like these, but not like this.
Knowing Giyuu, everytime the both of you had an argument, he’d just stay quiet until you apologized. But knowing your pride, a big one at that, it’d take you a lot of time or days to say it out loud to him. And he’d just be all smiley and accept your forgiveness, then everything will be alright.
Meanwhile with Giyuu, he’s worried about you. Like dead worried.
He wants to tell Oyakata-sama that he’s sick and that he can’t go on the mission, but he knows damn well that’s no excuse. I mean, he is a demon slayer, and while you, you’re just a mere civilian who he happen to lay his eyes on.
But who cares, right? Both of you still love each other and nothing will change that. Not even the fights you both have.
Sure, it was a tough road being each other’s lovers, but for the both of you, it was worth it.
Even though Giyuu’s job was to slay demons, and your job was to plant and pick vegetables and fruits, the both of you still managed your time well and get to enjoy each other in each other’s arms.
But even with those, fights are normal in relationships of course. There are times like these, and there are times that aren’t like this.
All those words that we exchange Is it any wonder things get broke? ‘Cause in my heart and in my head I’ll never take back the things I said
Times like this when the both of you spout useless nonsense at each other to the point where one just wants to end it all.
But the both of you knew damn well that those words hurt each other’s feelings, but you can’t take those words back because the both of you had prides up high.
So high above, I feel it coming down She said, in my heart and in my head Tell me why this has to end Oh, no, oh, no
The relationship you both had to went for hardships because of it is slowly falling down. And neither of you both want to accept that.
But the both of you knew, you knew. You knew loving someone isn’t easy, and obviously letting them go isn’t an easy choice. It never was.
But this just didn’t work out, you know? Introvert and extrovert people could have been a great couple duo. But the both of you? No. It just didn’t. Not for you, not for him.
The fights have been frequent, and you even forget who or what started this fight, and when or how to end it.
That’s why, once he comes back from his mission, you plan to end things with him. You just couldn’t do it anymore. You simply wished for someone to treat you any better than he did, but there was just no ‘someone’ better than him.
But what can you do? Relationships dry out easily if it was in your situation, and you just… had to accept it.
Thinking about the words, the right words to tell him that you want to break up hurts you.
But what hurts you more was the scorching pain in your left hand. It was burning, it was stinging, it was bleeding.
And then you looked to your left, seeing a guy who looked less of a human. It was a demon. And you were screwed.
I can’t save us, my Atlantis, we fall We built this town on shaky ground I can’t save us, my Atlantis, oh, no We built it up to pull it down
You managed to get away from the demon’s grip, and reached for the knife. As you get hold of it, he was no longer in front of you.
He was right behind you now, and you were just thrown on the wall with a full magnificent force that you felt your back break.
Your vision was so blurry, that all you could remember was the demon raising his left fist.
And in that single moment, you couldn’t think of anything, nor do anything. But in that single moment, you wished that you could’ve just let down your pride for once.
You should’ve spent your last moments with Giyuu together, and that you could never end things with him.
You love him too much, that even your last words were ‘I love you’ with the image of Giyuu in your mind, and everything fell black.
Now all the birds have fled The hurt just leaves me scared Losing everything I’ve ever known It’s all become too much
With Giyuu, he finished his mission easily and faster than he thought, so he decided to buy something for you.
In the market, the uneasy feeling never left him. Or so to say, the uneasy feeling just added more weight to his heart. And it wanted him to go home and check on you so bad.
But he wanted to make things right, so he can’t go home empty handed. Not just yet.
~~~~~
It was already evening, and finally, he managed to buy someting. And it was a hairpin. It was colorful. It came with lavender color, followed by black, then sakura flowers.
It was the perfect gift he could give you. Not only that, but it’d match your favorite lavender-colored kimono decorated with sakura flowers too.
And then he knew, it was time to go home.
~~~~~
After minutes of walking, he’s now almost near your home. He should be feeling excited and happy that he’s near, that he could finally see you, hug you, and kiss you.
But no. The more steps he took, the more he felt uneasy. Something didn’t feel right. Something didn’t sit right with the atmosphere.
He’s so filled with these thoughts of you, that tears begin to form on the corner of his eyes, breath starting to get shaky, and speed starting to get faster.
Maybe I’m not built for love If I knew that I could reach you, I would go It’s in my heart and in my head You can’t take back the things you said
Shit, if you were with someone else, would they have done a much more better job at protecting you than him? Maybe, just maybe, if you both didn’t crossed paths, would you have been safe right now? Would you have been safe, in someone else’s arms right now?
Damn it, he should’ve went home earlier. He should’ve spotted this hairpin much earlier, and that he would be home by now.
He would be home, and you would feel safe in his arms.
Sure, you told him mean nonsense, meaningless things when you both fought, but he knew damn well you loved him just as much as he loved you.
He loves you so much, that’s why he’s sprinting towards home now. Towards you.
So high above, I feel it coming down She said, in my heart and in my head Tell me why this has to end Oh, no, oh, no
Now that he’s much near home, he can now see the wooden gates of your shared home, he’s feeling more and more anxious.
What would your reaction be? Would you be happy now, or would you still be mad? Or would you not get the chance to react at all?
She told you the meanest things possible, and yet you’re worried sick about her. Oh, how lucky can she ever be?
He entered towards the gates, and towards your door, he called out to you, he called out your name, but no answer.
Trembling feeling was within him, but he fought it and forced himself to take a peek.
And that’s where it all ended.
The tears that once formed on the corner of his eyes, now took control and fell warmly on his cheeks.
He strode towards you, and looked at your helpless, lifeless self.
He held your body in his arms, and regretted everything. Regretted that he ignored the uneasy feeling shouting at him just from the start, regretted that he didn’t come home early, and regretted that he couldn’t save you.
Yes, you guys had fights, that were almost useless, words that you spouted and yelled at each others faces that hurt, but not even for a single moment, did he not love you.
He could never forgive himself. He had lost everyone dear to him, he couldn’t protect everyone he cared for, and he couldn’t save everyone he loved.
And you were the 3rd one.
And that’s why he could never call himself a hashira. Hashiras are supposed to be the strongest, which means they are capable of saving and protecting those in need.
But he was given 3 chances at that, and yet he still failed the same way.
The people he cared for, Tsutako, Sabito, and Y/n died the same way, for the same reason.
Thinking back of it, he couldn’t feel anything other than shame and grief.
Shame because he’s got the title ‘hashira’ when he doesn’t deserve it. If it wasn’t for Tsutako, he wouldn’t have reached where he is now. If it wasn’t for Sabito, he wouldn’t have survived the final selection. And if it wasn’t for Y/n, he wouldn’t have become someone he is now, someone better than the old him.
All the people he failed to save contributed and played a role where anyone rarely can.
If it wasn’t for you, Y/n L/n, he wouldn’t have become Giyu Tomioka, the water pillar.
Yeah, we build it up and we build it up Yeah, we build it up to pull it down And we build it up and we build it up And we build it up to pull it down
During your first meeting, Giyu was just strolling around the market, unsure of what to do, and yet he happened to lay his eyes on something pretty.
It was a gorgeous woman named Y/n L/n, a normal farmer girl, selling fruits to the market.
But to Giyu Tomioka, she was no normal. She was something out of the extraordinary that he felt he was finally blessed by a sight to see.
He stared at you for way too long, and you had to call out to him when you noticed his eyes lingering on you for that long.
He apologized, but you can’t help but giggle at how cute he sounded, much more at how cute he looked, with his face blusing and sweat dropping.
And that’s where it all started, Giyu Tomioka and Y/n L/n’s love story.
At first, Giyu didn’t know what to tell you or how to respond at every conversation you shot up.
He just nodded, blinked, and stared at you, which you honestly found boring. But either way, you were stuck with him, and he was stuck with you. Meaning, you’re both stuck with each other.
During Giyu’s day offs and yours, you’d both hang out somewhere faraway, and peaceful. And your favorite hangout spot? The ocean.
The waves crashing the rocks was a delight to the ear, and the scene where either the sun rays or the moonlights reflect the ocean, causing it to shine along.
Those moments were the once you and him cherished most. And well, of course you guys hit it off.
You were almost way too perfect for each other, that even though you guys are total opposites, you guys didn’t care.
So, for almost 6 months of courtship, you can’t help but say yes, as every single day, he’d bring a bouquet with different flowers displayed.
But of course, there are downs in a relationship. One where the both of you would think and yell nonsense at each other, and dramatically going up to the point where you want to end things.
Fights with him are unclear. You just can’t understand him, but instead misunderstand him. Fights with him aren’t because of jealousy like any others, but instead because of worry.
Worry that one day, Giyu may not return home and that you’ll only hear the day after that he had passed away because of a demon killing him.
But actually, it was the other way around. It was you who ended up passing away because a demon killed you, and it was him that now is filled with guilt and sorrow.
Giyu can’t forgive himself. He now never could. He ought and swore to protect you, but in the end, he failed miserably, for the 3rd time.
I can’t save us, my Atlantis, we fall We built this town on shaky ground I can’t save us, my Atlantis, oh, no We build it up to pull it down
Giyu held you tightly in his arms, looking back to where everything went wrong.
And looking back to where everything started.
He looked back at the moments you both happily shared together, the moments that still brought smiles on your faces. But now, it was the end of all those moments.
It hurt. There was a stinging pain in his heart that he knows will take even longer to heal. Or perhaps, never.
He can already end his life here and now, to be with you once again. Ever since that day, you became his everything. And now without his everything, he’s nothing.
“Please... don’t go...” Giyu spoke in a raspy voice with sobs. He wished you were still alive and heard him, but no. You weren’t.
It’s cruel. He did not even had the chance to bid you goodbye. He did not even had the chance to tell you he’s sorry and that he loves you.
The ups and downs of your relationships were just obstacles that whoever from above sent down. And the both of you passed those obstacles, with only one man standing.
And within those years, months, and days of being together, there was not a single moment where you both never loved each other.
And now, he regrets that he didn’t apologize for his actions, that he let his pride get the best of him, and that he never get to fix things up.
People always have prides, whether low or high. But those prides are sometimes what gets in the way of two people. You may not realize it yet, but your pride may already have hurt a person. Especially the ones you love.
And that’s where it all ended, Giyu Tomioka and Y/n L/n’s love story.

"Would you like to walk home together? It's snowing pretty heavily, and I have an umbrella to share." He asked her.
"Sure!" She exclaimed. She was finally interacting with the guy who let his gaze fall upon her frequently. She would love to be friends with him.
That's right, Just friends...
"Y'know, we should hang out more, maybe. Let's make a plan for lunch someday! She slung her arm around his shoulder causing him to lightly blush up. She mistook the blush for the harsh cold.
"Like.. to hang out?"
"Yeah! For what else silly?" she laughed.
Tumblr media
"Are you sure? I don't want to be a bother." Y/n said, the cold getting the best of her.
"No, no. You won't bother, here!" He offered his sweater to her, and when she accepted, He couldn't help but admire her beauty.
"Thank you." She smiled.
"It looks better on you. You should keep it!"
"No, it's fine, I'll return it."
"Chill, you can keep it-" he cut himself off upon seeing her looking somewhere else. Following her gaze, his eyes landed on him. With piercing eyes, and a dazzling smile, he called to y/n, "Hello, my love!".
He was everything. He was not.

Sanemi,Douma and Giyuu dealing with their wife's death. How would they cope with it?
Douma
Tumblr media
Douma knew you were quite ill and he did everything he could to help you get better and for a while, he had hope that you would get better and you would be fine. So when he heard from the doctors that you had died earlier that morning he felt an overwhelming sense of sadness that he had never felt before. He locked himself in his room in the infinity palace refusing to leave. He refused to talk to anyone. He didn't want to talk to anyone. He eventually had to leave to get human flesh but he only left to eat. Some of the upper moons tried to talk to him but they didn't make him feel anything. He had gone back to his old emotionless self. He eventually started living life as he did before but he always feels like you ripped a part of his heart out.
Giyuu
Tumblr media
Giyuu felt absolutely useless without you. He resigned from the demon slayer corps and lived the rest of his life without you. Tanjiro stays with him for a while after your death trying to help him mourn and try and convince him to come back to the corps. But eventually, Tanjiro has to start going on missions again so he gets Shinobu or Nezuko to check on him. After losing so many people in his life losing you was kind of his breaking point. He didn't know what to do with himself. He never goes back to the corps despite Shinobu and Tanjiro trying to convince him.
Sanemi
Tumblr media
He was absolutely livid at first. He was angry at himself for not being able to protect you. The littlest things would set him off. He went on missions as normal but he was just angry for a while. But one day when he was yelling at a lower rank demon slayer his rage just turned to helpless tears. He stayed home for a while and didn't go on any missions. Genya went to see him and Sanemi actually enjoyed his company. He was just so lonely without you he was just happy to have someone to talk to. He goes back to the corps as normal but ever since you died he was always off. He didn't talk to everyone as much and become a lot more distant.
Thank you for your request! have a nice day/night!

"For a quiet guy, you sure make good use of that tongue, Giyuu."
His calloused hands gripped the back of my thighs fiercely. The water pillar separated them and brought his face closer to the area. He hiked up the nightdress over my plump rear and exposed my lower half to the night air. Giyuu raised his hands from the soft tissue and took hold of my lower cheeks. Separating them as well and exposing the slick cunt near it.
I took a firm hold of the window sill and looked at the full moon outside it. A cool breeze licked my skin and caused shivers to dance down my spine. The straps of the dress fell off my shoulders and its neckline was ripped open by a familiar intruder. Giyuu's saliva was still wet on my neck and erect nipples. He spent so much time toying with them. Lapping against the bud with his plush tongue and suckling gently. It felt so good to be touched by him. It's been two months since our last rendevous.
Two months since he snuck onto my estate and into my bed.
Two months since I told him I loved him and begged him to stay.
I wanted to be mad at Tomioka. I wanted to curse him out and banish him from my sight. But, the moment his lips touched mine all my anger faded and it was replaced with lust.
Giyuu slid his body between my legs and rested his back underneath the window sill. The soft muscle within his mouth started to lap against my vulva. I moaned and gripped the edge harder. Giyuu took a firm hold of my ass and lowered my body toward his face until I was practically sitting on his face. His tongue started to move faster against the slit, capturing every drop of the slick on it. With my slutty hip movements, he was able to tickle my sweet center. I groaned softly and looked down at him. His sapphire eyes seemed to glow beneath me. They were half-closed and staring right at me.
"You are lucky I find that mouth useful," I purred, brushing the strands of hair from his face. "I would've tossed you out by now."
The pillar moans against my cunt and slides the sloppy crevice right to my clit. He circles the throbbing bud a few times before wrapping his lips around it to suck. A slew of curses fell from my mouth as my walls started to pulse; clenching and releasing at a faster rate. Giyuu started to move his head side to side as he sucked the bud, creating even more friction than before. I took my bottom lips between my teeth and squeezed my eyes shut. After a short while, my knees began to shake and my walls pulsed faster. Giyuu's smooth fingers snuck between my legs and slowly pushed into my center. He pressed the tips to the roof of my cunt and hammered the spongy area growing within. While holding the dress's skirt with the other.
"Ah fuck," I cried, grinding my cunt against Giyuu's face. "I'm gonna. . ."
No matter how calm I tried to keep my body, the pleasure forced it to act uncontrollably. My juices were coating the inside of my thighs and, I was pretty certain, covered Giyuu's face. The thick slick came down in stringy rivers, like honey dripping from the comb. And my lover acted like a greedy animal, marveling in its sight and taste.
Without warning, my whole body tensed. My nails dug into the window pane and my face forced into an unflattering expression. My legs stopped shaking and my hips stopped fucking Giyuu's face. My nerves were buzzing and my brain was empty. Loud moans spilled from my closed lips as I rode out the power of orgasm. Gasps followed next as the muscles started to move again. I started to slowly grind my oozing cunt on his face to make the orgasm last even longer. The pillar didn't mind; in fact, he moaned from the action.
I kept doing that until my poor clit was far too sensitive for his mouth and I pulled away from him. I pressed my back against a nearby wall and pressed a hand onto my forehead--- I had to collect myself.
Tomioka rose to his feet and looked directly into my eyes. He was still almost entirely clothed. Hatori and all. The only thing missing were his shoes.
"I have something to ask you," he hesitated.
"What is it?"
He paused. "Do you. . . still want me to stay?"

I thought maybe you could love me like you used to. Even though I'm... different.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Genre: Angst
Prompt: you were sent on a mission to kill an upper moon but unfortunately did not return leaving everyone to assume you were killed on that mission. three years later your s/o is sent in a mission to kill a demon wreaking havoc on a small village, how will they react when they find out that demon is you? And how will they react if you ask them if they could still love you?
Tl;dr: Kny characters reacting to you being a demon/ asking them if they could still love you even if you’re different
Giyuu
- The day you were presumed dead was the day Giyuu felt like a part of him had died as well, you were everything to him, the first good thing he had in a long long time
- Before meeting you Giyuu hated everything including himself and he hated seeing another day but once you were in his life, you made him want to continue living and he truly believed he would have a bright and happy future with you
- He couldn’t accept your death and move on, he grieved for you from sun rise to sunset and would constantly wish it was him that was sent on that dangerous mission instead, that it was him that had died not you
- Giyuu has always been extremely good at controlling his emotions, always carrying a blank expression to hide his true feelings
- But now, with you who he thought was dead, standing in front of him pupils now like slits, innocent human blood on your hands, face, as well as on your fangs and claws that were not there before
- He couldn’t hide his utter shock, his whole body shuts down and he looks at you eyes widen, and mouth slightly agape trying to piece together what he was seeing, he let his guard was down, if Giyuu wasn’t the love of your life you could have easily killed him
- He feels hurt and confused because the person who he was grieving everyday for was in fact alive but was the thing he hated most in this world
- You use this moment to explain everything that happened, from the day you were sent off on the mission to the moment you were turned into a demon adding emphasis on how you tried to control your killing urges for the longest time but failed
- He listened, or rather stayed completely silent through the entire thing, his face still in shock and his eyes constantly scanning your body mainly your claws and fangs to see if his eyes weren’t playing tricks on him
- You end it off with asking for forgiveness and if he could still love you like he used to even if you were… different
- When he heard those words he snaps out of his haze ,for a minute he sees you, the human version of you no claws, fangs, blood and no slit pupils, just you
- Giyuu had lost so many important people including you in his life and he would do anything if he could just spend five more minutes with them, hold them one last time and now in a way he’s giving that chance
- His heart sinks and his facial features soften , he looks like he’s on the brink of tears. He quietly calls your name and reaches out with his hand to touch yours
- However he quickly pulls away when your finger tips were only an inch away
- If he were to be honest he does think he would still be able to love you…. even as a demon but he wishes you didn’t spill blood during your time as one
- Giyuu would have took you in if your hands were still clean even if it meant breaking corps rules, even if it meant having to go into hiding away from other slayers, even if it meant putting himself in danger for trying to take care of you. He would do it all if it meant he still had you
- But it wasn’t that way….you were a threat and he has no other choice but to kill you it was his job after all
- He takes a step back from you not because he’s afraid but because he needs to collect his thoughts
- Once he does he tightly grips his sword and his face goes to the cold blank one he always seems to carry but never used on the old you
- He is able to look you dead in the eyes and say no, his icy blue eyes shooting like daggers into you
- With an emotionless tone he says he could never love a murderer before going in for the kill
- He does it smoothly and quickly your head was cut off one time
- He would stand there and wait until your body completely vanished but even when you were gone , Giyuu still felt this intense sadness for you, that part of him that left when he thought you died was still gone
- He didn’t feel closure, despite you becoming a demon there was a small part of him that still loved you so he decided to take your haori adding a piece of the fabric to the one he was wearing so he could always keep you with him
Kyōjurō
- Like with Giyuu he is extremely shocked by this, seeing you his s/o now a demon, his enemy
- Kyōjurō can’t help but pause and just stare, a million thoughts enter his head at once
- He thinks back to the day he found out you “died”, how he was extremely heartbroken and how it took him a long time to get back on his feet
- He thinks about when he finally did come to terms with your death how he’s been trying his best to keep your name alive by constantly talking about you and your brave work as a demon hunter
- But now he feels betrayed since this entire time he’s been trying to keep the name of a murderer alive
- He knows he shouldn’t blame himself since he didn’t know of this, but he can’t help but feel upset with himself for praising you all while your were taking away innocent lives he felt as though he was disrespecting your victims and victim’s families
- He finally snaps out of his daze and is pulled from his thoughts when you call his name you were concerned as to why he hasn’t said a word since he found you
- He shakes his head and curses at himself for losing focus in the middle of a battle
- He is a highly trained demon hunter he isn’t supposed to space out especially in front of a demon
- Yes… he is already labeling you as a demon and not as the human he once loved
- The reason why he is already convinced of this is because it is clear to him that you seem to still have some of your memories from your human life as a demon hunter and of him
- He thinks this because when he found you you didn’t attack and called out his name with teary eyes
- So he knows that you knew you were killing people but still didn’t stop yourself
- How he wished you didn’t, he wished that your mind was soiled and you remembered nothing of your human life even if it also meant not remembering him, then that way he could have remorse for you since you didn’t know what you were doing
- When you ask him if he could still love you like he use to even if you were different with tears streaming down your face
- He looks away unable to look you in the eyes , his eyes are downcast and you swear there’s a dullness to his usual bright red-orange eyes, his lips are formed into a frown opposed to being in the usual bright smile you loved so much
- He wishes he could hold you and wipe away those tears from your eyes he wishes he could still love you even as a demon
- But he can’t, he can’t love you even if he tried
- He feels guilty about the fact that he doesn’t have that fuzzy and warm feeling inside of him he always had whenever he looked at you, all he feels now is emptiness
- But he will admit those feelings did exist before, you were the love of his life once upon a time so he’ll give you this
- He opens his arms, signaling for you to come
- When you’re in his arms he squeezes you tightly as you cry apologizing for hurting all those people and he tells you he’s sorry too, sorry he no longer loves you, suddenly you feel like your entire body was heating up and you felt the sharp nichirin blade cut through your neck easily slicing your head off, you could feel your body slowly burn and turn to ash
- The hug wasn’t meant for who you were now but for who you use to be the sweet, kind, innocent human he loved and would sacrifice anything for
- He holds you close as you turn into ash basking in the last moments he has with you
- You’re happy he’s the last thing you feel before you die but the the same time heartbroken knowing that the person you loved most in the world didn’t feel the same

Kyojuro Rengoku - (insecure of looks)
“Darling, what is the problem? You’ve been acting so differently lately and I’m not quite sure why. Have I done anything to offend you, my love?”, he asked you sweetly, his fingers intertwined with yours.
This evening, he came home from a very long mission and noticed a deep change in your behavior. He sat you down on the bed you two shared and questioned you about it.
“It’s nothing..Kyojuro.”, you told him. That wasn’t true, that wasn’t true at all.
His mouth downturned to a small pout. He could tell you were lying.
“Please, darling. If anything is bothering you, you can tell me. I’ll always be here for you.”, he emphasized the “always” part, strongly.
You stayed quiet for a moment, thinking about what he had just said. Should you confide in him?
“I just…I’ve felt so bad recently. I see all these other women..and they are so pretty. And I’m so…not.”, you said quietly, getting embarrassed from letting your feelings out.
He let out a quiet “oh”, and his expression changed a bit, more towards an empathetic look.
“Sweethart…you are so beautiful. I promise you that. You don’t need to compare yourself to anyone else out there.”, he brought his hands up from your hands to your face, cupping your cheeks. “I love you so much. You’re beautiful. You always will be. No matter what anyone else looks like. Don’t ever forget that, okay?”, he told you, a small smile resurfacing.
You began to softly cry. He wiped your tears away with his fingers and placed kisses all over your face, reassuring you of his never ending love.
He pulled you into his lap and held you tightly against his chest, then kissed your forehead.
You looked up at him, your eyes still heavily teary. He just stared back down at you, so lovingly.
“I’m..hic..I'm sorry kyo..”, you said slowly, piece by piece. Talking well is really hard when you’re crying..
“You have nothing to be sorry for, my little flame. I am always here for you. Always. I’ll love you, FOREVER!”, his voice got much louder at the end part.
He combed his fingers through your hair and kept you held tight against him.
god, you loved him so much.

Giyuu Tomioka - (insecure of body)
You sat across the table from him, avoiding eye contact at all cost. Not that the two of you were in an argument, but you felt so embarrassed to even look at him. He kept looking at you with a confused face, why were you ignoring him? You weren’t even eating any of your food either.
Normally when the two of you ate dinner together, you’d be so talkative and happy. Always making comments about your day, asking him so many questions, and keeping the mood so cheerful. That was something he loved so dearly about you.
Although he had such a quiet personality, never pointing out many things, he couldn’t take this anymore. Where was the happy you? Why’d you seem so sad? He felt horrible just sitting there letting you feel like that.
“Y/n?...”, he asked out quietly.
You took a second before responding..
“Yes?”, you said, without even giving a small smile.
“Is something the matter..? You seem so..different.”, he didn’t want to say anything that would upset you. He was nervous that even asking would offend you.
“Uh…no. I’m fine, Tomioka.”, you told him.
Okay…what? He knew for a fact that the two of you were NOT on a last name basis. You always called him Giyuu, sometimes even shortening it to yuu. Something was most definitely wrong.
“Y/n. What’s the matter? You can talk to me..okay?”, he told you.
You finally made eye contact with him, mouth slightly agape by the statement.
“I just don’t want to eat..”
“Why’s that?”, he questioned softly.
“I’m going to gain too much weight….and I'll be even uglier.”, you said, pausing a second for the last part. Your eyes began to water, guilt rushing to your head.
“Uglier? You’ve never been ugly to begin with, darling. And you have to eat, okay? Even if you gain weight, even if you think you’ve eaten too much, you have to eat y/n. I love you as you are. You don’t need to change anything about you.”, he said, sweetly grabbing your hands. This was hard for him, he was never one for physical affection, so you knew he really meant this.
“Are you sure, Giyuu?”, you asked him, letting out small hiccups from your tears.
He walked over to you and spun your chair around from the table, so it was pointed diagonally at him. He knelt down beside you and brought your hands to his, once again.
“I’m completely positive. You’re so beautiful, You don’t know how much I love you, Y/n. You’re perfect just the way you are.”, he said to you. Your tears kept flowing but he just embraced you, and reassured you over and over again.
surely, he was the one.

Iguro Obanai - (insecure of scars)
Obanai was away on a mission. You thought you had some alone time, so you sat in your shared bedroom and cried your heart out. You looked down at your arms, at your face, scars scattered across them. The only thing repeating in your head was “So ugly. So, so ugly”.
You brought your knees up to your face and just kept crying. You didn’t expect Obanai to be back earlier than planned.
“Y/n?”, a sudden voice interrupted. You turned your head around and saw him standing at the door frame, a sad look in his eyes.
“Is everything alright?”, he asked you, sitting down next to you. You continued to cry, letting out small hiccups from the lack of breath. He stayed there with you for a minute or so until you began to talk.
“I look so ugly. These scars make me look terrible. I’m never going to be pretty.”, you said between shallow breaths. He just sat there for a minute, staring at you. You expected him to be looking at you, weirdly. You turned around to him…and how he looked hurt your heart.
He had such a sad look on his face. His eyebrows downturned, and his own eyes began to water as well. Why was he crying? Did he pity you? Was he disappointed?
“Y/n. You are so pretty. With and without these scars. These scars don’t make you ugly, they make you human. Everyone has their struggles and bad times. I promise you, okay? You aren’t ugly. These scars don’t make you ugly. Just look at me.”, he said before unwrapping his mask. He took your hand and held it up to his mouth, where his scar is.
He’d taken his mask off before, but you’d never touched or traced it. You gasped softly, and your tears stopped for a second. He felt a bit anxious, despite the words he told you. Did you think he looked bad? Kaburamaru went from his neck, across your connecting arms and over to you.
“Obanai..”, you said.
He got nervous, but then you let out a small smile. It was small, but it made him feel happier.
“Is what you said…is what you said true?”, you asked him quietly. His grip on your hand tightened.
“Of course it is. It always will be, I love you. How you look…these scars, don’t matter to me. I fell in love with you for who you are.”, he reassured you. Your tears began to flow again. He pulled you in for a hug and held you against him, letting you sob into his shoulder.
you’ll love each other forever.

Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince (Giyu Tomioka)
Y/N felt like her lungs were on fire with every step she took. She looked up to her lover who despite showing no emotion at the moment, was slightly panting. Guilt filled Y/N's mind as she thought of how tired Giyu must be. And it was all her fault.
Giyu finally came to a stop and let out a harsh breath of relief. "We should be fine now." He said, turning his head to look at his lover. The Hashria watched quietly as Y/N carefully leaned on him to catch her breath. "Are you okay?" He questioned, placing a warm kiss on Y/N's forehead.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. If I didn't accept them none of this would've happened. Just kill me Giyu! If I have to die by the corps then I at least want you to do it." Y/N begged with panic laced in her voice.
Y/N could feel Giyu still under her touch. "Listen, I'm not worth it. I think I might've made your life harder. I'm so sorry Giyuu!" She sobbed uncontrollably. Despite the words that were coming out of her mouth, she desperately still clung to the other.
Giyu didn't move as he struggled to find his voice after such a declaration. "...is that something you want?" He quietly asked once he manged to move his mouth.
"I...I just don't want to hurt you. I feel like such a mistake! I ruined you!" Y/N cried out, hiding her face in Giyu's chest.
With a deep sigh, Giyu let go of Y/N's hand and warpped his arms around her midsection. "I love you." He simply responded.
"But, how..? Why do you still love me?" Y/N cried out, her eyes a deep red color with black ink like viens covering her arms and legs. "I did something unforgivable."
"Whether your a demon or a human I think I'll always love both verions of you." Giyu replied, gently playing with Y/N's hair. "There isn't a universe where I don't fall in love you, I believe that. So just because you changed, it doesn't matter to me. I can't lose another person that I love. Please don't make me leave you." Giyu softly said.
Y/N closed her eyes and squeezed her lover tight. As if keeping him glued to her side would make everything okay again. She doesn't even know if she fully regrets her decision. After all, it was either her or Giyu. And Y/N wasn't about to let Giyu become a demon for her sake. She had to protect him, she did protect him. In a new body.
As the couple calmed down enough to began the journey far away where they couldn't be found out, Y/N is sure that she would do everything again in a heartbeat. If it meant that Giyu was safe for another day, she wouldn't regret anything.

Too late | Giyuu oneshot
Tumblr media
1,6k, angst, request from a Wattpad user
The evening was warm, light breeze dancing in Giyuu's short, black hair, whispering the summer's last goodbyes. Soon the fall would take over. The man crouched upon a tombstone, praying silently.
The road was full of terror and mischief, lingered with hatred and sadness. Yet, you knew what you had to do. Even though other demon slayers gave you malicious looks, never trusted you and didn't spare any care, you knew what you had to do.
To wield a sword being a demon yourself was a disaster and a miracle. Who would be stronger and more resistant to any pain and loss than a demon? That's why you knew what you had to do.
You were never allowed to enter the corps headquarters nor to meet the master in person. After several months of showing up wherever you could and assisting anyone you were able to, even if they cried for you to go away, to let them die a honourable death, you knew what you had to do. All the death wishes were fake, tainted with adrenaline and hatred. You knew later, when they wake up in the butterfly estate they will be grateful. Not thanking you for saving them but at least grateful they're still alive.
After saving tons of slayers from death you were finally acknowledged. First it was a woman surrounded by butterflies, you learned she's the Insect Pillar. She came cold and kept to herself but at least she listened to you. Her eyes were full of interest as she heard your story out and promised to discuss your existence with the others. You knew it could end two ways- they would accept you or kill you.
After that a black haired man came to tell you you're on a trial, as if your previous good deeds didn't count, whatever, at least they gave you something. You were furious, after doing so much you were still untrusted and shoved away.
Tears started to wield in your eyes, your frustration overflowing from your small yet strong body.
''You crying?'' He asked, shaking you out of your thoughts.
He cared that you cried?
''I've done so much good and you still hold me hostile.'' Looking this man deep in the eye you spotted no emotions at all, no hatred, not fear, no joy, no soul. Nothing.
Even though tears still tainted your cheeks, you cracked a laugh. How can he look at you like that? You're the demon, you should be wiped out of emotions and here the two of you are. You were crying over not being accepted by a bunch of humans and the actual human looked like he didn't give a damn about all this.
''What's your name? Maybe I can assist you more if I need to prove myself?''
''Giyuu.''
The flowers that the man brough lay down on the tombstone. He threw away the old, witted ones not standing the sight of your memorial being a mess. You were always so organised and clean, proceeding with your missions from the beginning to the end, always afraid but never letting it take control over you. He regretted so much never fighting more for you.
Giyuu spotted your figure sitting under a tree, close to the entrance of the headquarters but far enough for the wisteria not to kill you. Your eyes were closed and back rested on the bark. You looked like you were sleeping but the man knew well that you were just waiting.
When his footsteps became familiar to you, your body rose, ready to assist him in yet another mission.
At that time your person did mess a bit with his head but not enough for it to make him think. It was just something lingering at the depths of his mind, present but quiet. You on the other side learned how to love the man. From all the slayers he was the only one who acted normally in front of you. As long as you can call lack of emotions normal but oh well. He was the only one who didn't shudder in disgust at the sight of the sword in your hand.
Maybe you lacked something you left in your past life. Maybe you were in love and the emotions were still inside you, searching for a substitute to the lover from before. Maybe you were more human than demon? Maybe you were just weird?
It didn't matter to you. You were happy that you could still feel love.
Someone came by, Giyuu didn't spot it too hung up on the stone before him. The white haired man crouched down and sighed.
''I still can't believe it.'' He muttered under his breath seeing the longing in his friend's eyes.
You coughed up, trying you best to hold your breath in. The burning sensation of wisteria sunk in your lungs. They didn't care, dragging you towards the headquarters, shouting into your ears. It all came to you as a piercing ringing, nothing but a head splitting noise.
Murder?
Betrayal?
Monster?
You were not sure whether you got the words right, too poisoned.
''You need to let it go. 'Ts ten years.'' Sanemi wanted to pat the man's back but stopped mid air.
Was he in the position to say such a thing?
Giyuu has been thinking about it for a long time now. The demon girl, Y/N, was like honey to him. Even though he didn't show it, he felt it. The care with which she followed his steps on a mission, the sweetness of her voice when she spoke to him, the love in her eyes when she met his. It was all intoxicating for him, poisoning nearly. First, she was a demon, second he was too afraid to lose someone, again. But wouldn't these two things work together? Who on earth could be stronger than a demon? Who could kill her apart from the corps themselves? They wouldn't do that, not now, not when she is such a help. She's safe, she's here for him, she can be with him, he can love her and not tremble with fear every night that he'll find her dead the next morning.
He loved her and he knew it. Now he realised, he can actually give her love, he's ready for it.
''You know what, never mind, I'm sorry.'' Sanemi stepped away and left, too guilty.
Less wisteria means a little bit more consciousness. You wished it wouldn't come back, your senses. They were standing upon you, judging you every possible way. Some had sad, defeated faces, other smug I-knew-it looks, especially that white haired one.
''Y/N you swore you'd never hurt a human.'' Someone started to chant, you didn't even know who. ''And you broke the promise killing a ten year old boy on you miss...'' Your head started to spin once more, the wind blew more wisteria smell that stung your nostrils. ''The neck has a clear cut and the rest is half eaten...'' You tried to look up, no hope for it.
Giyuu came in time to see his life fall apart for the last time. He was standing in the gate leading to a plaza. A lot of people gathered around a small and familiar figure. The, of so well known, Wind Pillar was just about to swing his blade...
...and so he did.
Your head rolled down the path, eyes closed due to the burning sensation. Giyuu's body stuck to the ground, not able to move seeing your form disintegrate into the night sky. It was the end of the season, a warm breeze danced in his long black hair, whispering summer's last goodbyes, and your last goodby.
A tear rolled down his pale cheek when he remembered your face. Would you survive till today if they didn;t rob you of this possibility? He didn't know but he would bless every second he would have had with you.
The air became colder, leaves started to change colours, animals slowly prepared for the long sleep. Sanemi sat in shade, on a terrace gripping his sword to the point his knuckles became white. He was wrong, what he did went well with his life mission but deep in his heart it felt wrong. Shinobu and Mitsuri tried to speak to Giyuu but he would put them off. The rest of the Hashira and slayers didn't even try anything, there was no point in doing so.
The demon they decapitated, Y/N, she was innocent. They found the demon who really did it, it even showed them the place where he buried the real sword that he used to kill the boy. The demon laughed at their faces, chanting that he pleased Muzan, please him so well, he killed the slayer's weapon and so on.
If only they didn't act so abruptly, if only Giyuu was there when it all happened, maybe he would be able to stop them from making a hectic decision. Maybe, maybe, maybe. There was nothing else to do now other than ask for forgiveness, especially when they learned he was in love with her. The moment he said it, with that blank face they knew the small spark behind his eyes that lit in her presence was gone forever. It would never come again, no matter what happened.
Giyuu rose from his position, saying his last prayers. He crumbled the hem of his clothes in his pale hands looking down on the tombstone.
''I really look forward to meeting you again Y/N. No matter when it comes, I know it will someday. For now, see you again tomorrow.'' He kissed his fingers and placed them on the cold stone. ''I love you and always will.''

The pitter patter of rain drops was normal in the late spring months. It brings in the cool air needed when heading into the summertime. All was still on nights like this and a person's imagination could really wander. Anything to keep the remnants of Giyuu's latest nightmare at bay. He thought if getting glared at by Obanai was worth wearing the ribbon Mitsuri gifted him.
It was a common occurrence to find himself seated against a wall, only clad in his pajama bottoms, while the window let in the cool misty air. He was always careful not to wake you when he left the room to calm down. He absentmindedly traced the patterns on the wood flooring while thinking if Uzui would allow you two at his hot spring in the Fall.
The house creaked with the wind. The wind chimes Himejima gave have clanked against the porch post. The storm would soon set in. He considered going back to bed but couldn't bring himself to move as stray raindrops landed on his cheek. The way the wind chimes beat against each other, almost violently, sounded like small swords clashing against each other. He thought about when he last heard from Tanjiro, maybe he should respond this time. The boy is getting stronger especially with Rengoku's help. A good teacher, a great Hashira too. He'd probably be impressed, if he were still here. Maybe, Giyuu should have gotten on the train. Maybe Giyuu should be-
The thick lining of the comforter wrapped around his shoulders and a warm embrace pulled him out of his head. In a small voice you say "Come back to bed."
Giyuu doesn't say anything, something you were aware of anyway. "Giyuu."
It broke your heart to see him like this. On nights like these he would leave for 15 minutes to an hour but it had been 2 hours now. Understandingly, Giyuu would not be moving for sometime soon so you settled in next to him. Instinctively, he pulled you close and wrapped the blanket around your shoulders.
"Was it a nightmare?" You asked.
He nodded.
"Do you want to tell me about it?"
He shook his head no.
"Would you like me to sit here with you?"
He pulled you closer to him, resting his head against yours. It had been over 4 months since the last time you had to come and get him. Pretending to sleep when he gets up, counting the minutes on your phone until you hear him come back, pretending to not notice how exhausted he looks the next day. When he wanted to talk about these dreams he would.
"Do you wanna know what I dreamt about?" You asked.
He nodded
"Shinazugawa."
That got a rise out of him. Giyuu jolted up and was quick to look at you with concern, bewilderment and (he wouldn't admit it) jealousy.
"Mhmm," You nodded "Lord Uzui and Obanai too. They were all dressed as ducks and swimming in a pond. A gator that looked like Kocho came in and scared them. She bit Shinazugawa so hard, he laid an egg!"
It started off small, shoulders trembling before Giyuu broke in a fit of laughs. "That's silly, Shinazugawa and Uzui are not afraid of Kocho."
"And Obanai is?"
"Well…" he trailed off
You both sat there laughing at silly thoughts and scenarios until Giyuu complained about his legs hurting. Helping him to his feet, you both made your way back to the bedroom. The storm seemed to be worsening but it couldn't bother you in here anymore behind closed windows and under warm sheets.
Giyuu pulled you close to him. "Thank you. I love you."
"I love you too."
Bonus:
"You got a problem?" Shinazugawa squawked.
Giyuu said nothing but turned around to not let Shinazugawa see him laughing again.

Giyuu was never afraid. Not of demons.
They were like any other wild animal that needed to be killed, they preyed on the innocent and needed to be extinguished. Nothing more or less. He never trembled, he never flinched nor did he hesitate in slaying a demon.
It was humans that made his skin crawl.
Yet he had made an exception for a blood-sucker. Once.
A little girl who had the misfortune of being away from her older brother, ended up being massacred along with her family, only she remained after the scene, as an eternal being that had to harm others in order to save itself.
At least, by the book that's the definition of a demon.
Nezuko Kamado had made do with sleeping and not once had she harmed a person. The connection between her and Tanjiro had been obvious
So why now, as he stood in front of the women he planned go spend his life with and retire to, did he wish you were like that small child.
An exception.
Why couldn't you feel his warmth to you, or maybe you did. The way you stared longingly at the wounds that he purposely didn't avoid receiving at him
The way your mouth drooled, the way your once pretty human eyes widened at his frame. Suddenly your kimono was not torn but ironed and neat, your big and happy face staring at him when he returned home.
You were not the same, you had no special relationship with him once you died. Contrary to what you had always said. Once a vampire you didn't care that you once loved him.
You were hurt. You needed to feed.
And he needed to kill you.
A laughable thing really, how he failed to protect you, how he failed to be happy, how he failed to keep you happy.
Giyuu really believed that he could be like his comrade Tengen, definitely not collecting bitches like candy but he thought maybe he could also have someone to love and come home to after a hard day at work.
Hah, no.
His eyes swelled with tears, and he found his own reflection in your own, transforming into that of a shivering boy with a hatchet. He was no better then 12-year old Tanjiro, trying to explain to a hashira that his sister was no killer. And having to face the undeniable truth that Demons could go as far as eating their own kin for blood.
Just for the hashira in question to eat his own words.
Why couldn't he do that now? Why could he scoop you up and take you to HQ, show everyone that your worth keeping alive. Prove that he found love, and despite everything that's happened, he gets to keep you.
Because you weren't special. You never were. An ordinary human with no special background nor heritage. Had the unfortunate ending of being brought back to life as a monster.
There was nothing wrong with you, nor complicated necessity that you required from him. Just his love, affection and presence
And even at that he failed.
He failed to keep you safe, he failed to listen to your complaints that you felt like you were being watched, that you wanted him home, holding you close and safe from harm.
Now you weren't the same person, a rabid animal that would return the pain he probably inflicted on you ten-fold.
All because of him.
Giyuu dropped his sword and stared tearily, bitterly at your ragged form. Time slowed, and suddenly every snowflake that fell by was within his vision.
The beautiful, intricate detailed as it fell by your bloody face. How it fell and melted into the white snow, it's blank sheet ruined by maroon drops that propelled towards him.
he closed his eyes and his knees weakened before he fell forwards into you.
Tears fell down his cheeks and he let out a low moan of pain as your face buried into the crook of his neck
How many times had you done that? Sitting by the fireplace and snuggling up to his form for warmth, or out in the city, playfully burying your stone-cold nose in his warm neck to annoy him.
Giyuu melted down, down into the snow. Covering the beautiful, clean snow with his filth.
He was an oathbreaker. Bards would tell of his hypocrisy and failure. Birds would sing of how he let himself fall into the hands of a demon, all because he once loved then in life. True, human life. Demon Slayers would utter his name in punishment, in lectures to other people.
Maybe, he could make something right.
One day, when you join him. He won't abandon you again.

GIYUU : For the better
A/N: Okay buckle up because this shit is short but HEAVYY 😃 And I’m planning on doing this with the rest of the Hashira too because they are such tragic characters and I love it (and making myself and others suffer)
Divider is by @idontgetanysleep !
CW: Depression with a capital D, dark thoughts, suicidal thoughts, mentions of death, SELF-DEPRECATION, literally just a ton of angst
WC: 511 words

Giyuu never joins his fellow Hashira in any of their activities, unless his presence is required. It’s not because he doesn’t want to; deep inside, he’s always been longing for much-needed friendships to support him. But he deems himself undeserving of kindness, of love, of even the littlest spark of recognition his comrades could give him.
As a demon slayer, his life is constantly on the line, having to defend humanity from man-eating monsters. His job has the highest requirements, and oftentimes asks for the biggest sacrifices. One demon dead would mean at least five slayers joining the afterlife; and after every battle he finishes, Giyuu wishes he’d have the courage to join them.
After his sister Tsutako passed when he was still a child, Giyuu’s own man-eating monsters began to crawl up to him. “Why didn’t you die instead of her? Why did you have to be the one to survive? You’re such a worthless waste of space”, they spoke, sharp words slicing and engraving themselves in his brain.
The true breaking point came a few years later. Giyuu found new meaning and use in his life; to fight for justice and help the helpless, just like he’d have wished for someone to do for him in the past. Alongside his trainer Urokodaki and his best friend, he felt unstoppable for the first time, confident that he and Sabito would pass Final Selection without a scratch.
Until that confidence shattered into pieces when he dropped to his knees in front of his beloved comrade’s pale, lifeless body. “Another person dead at your feet. This is all your doing”, his demonic thoughts came back to haunt him as he sobbed his heart out in agony, holding his dearest companion’s icy hand.
After he got officially recognized as a demon slayer, Giyuu stopped considering himself a fighter. He was a mere survivor, who was powerless as everyone else around him kept dying. He was a failure, who couldn’t even protect the people he cherished the most. He was a hoax, nothing but a body that occupied the place reserved for someone more competent than himself.
He never celebrated his own progress, rising up the ranks with a broken heart, a shit ton of nightmares and an empty soul. The day he was promoted to Hashira, he went to Sabito’s grave and cried. Apologizing countless times for stealing his spot from him. Cursing at himself for being so damn weak.
When he stood in front of Tanjiro as he was being held in trial, he couldn’t help but think that the least he could do was to protect him and his sister, even offering to commit seppuku in the case where Nezuko would harm a human in any way. “At least if something ever happens they won’t have to deal with me anymore,” he reasoned in his mind.
As the Water Pillar turned back to look at the other Hashira chatting with each other, he shook his head and walked away.
“It’s better that they don’t end up close to someone like me.”
