I love those kinda AUish pre-Kerberos scenarios, where Shiro relates even more to Keith because he himself was a system child.
I love all you people who tackled this in their fics, and I hope to find more before the end, else I'm gonna have to write and not-share my own damn versions.

a little klance headcanon in honor of christmas eve.
so keith is so used to hoarding food staying low during christmas week at the foster system. it was undoubtedly the most hectic week, when the kids went feral, wanting the opportunity to be adopted when families came around, charities etc. he never felt a sense of belonging, especially throughout that week.
naturally, keith hated christmas. until, of course, lance. the first year they were dating, lance insisted keith come home with him, to a hispanic household. as reluctant as he was, he did end up going. and for the first time of his life, he felt home. home with lance.
lance’s siblings treated keith as one of them, his mother asked him to help make dinner, help turn on the chimney, and set the gifts under the tree. he tied mistletoe underneath the doorway as lance explained all his family transitions and well- they were under the mistletoe after all.
for once, keith was able to say that he had enjoyed christmas. that he didn’t need to hide in his room with scraps of food because he was afraid of starving in the next couple of days. he didn’t have to wear several layers and wrap himself with the layers of his bed.
he was out of the system. he was free. and surprisingly enough, he had someone. he had lance.

also something something wingfic where Keith has wings because he's part-Galra and has to grow up hiding them, resulting in them becoming stunted and deformed. either way he can't win.

Ok so since I posted the Desert Days fic I can now share my favorite excerpt
Warnings for‼️mentions of foster care and abuse, death, fire, general angst‼️
Keith was angry.
He’d spent his whole life angry.
Angry at his mother for ditching him and his dad. Angry at the kids at school who shunned and called him names. Angry at the teachers who told him to calm down when he was upset, pushing him aside in favor of his cheerful classmates.
He was angry at his pop for leaving him that night, knowing full well that Keith needed him. Angry at his dad’s coworkers who found him alone and scared, with smoke and the scent of burnt flesh still lingering on their clothing. Angry at his relatives for signing him away to a flawed government system without a second thought.
Angry at his social worker for never believing him when he tried to explain the bruises on his face. Angry that she just said he’d gotten them in fights, knowing full well he hadn’t, but it meant less work for her. The anger had boiled over, he figured that if he was going to be labeled a problem child anyway, why not defend himself. Become a problem.
Every insult and barb thrown his way sent him into a fury. He lashed out, kicking and punching, teeth gnashing in a way that sent everyone screaming. Eventually most people learned to leave him alone. He was angry at how they called him a monster, a demon with evil in his eyes. Angry at the people who kicked him down when he couldn’t fight back. The people that tossed him to the curb like a broken machine.
That’s what he was after all. Broken.
An angry, delinquent that had no future, a teenager who was destined to die young and alone. A child who would most likely end up a statistic.
And he was angry.
The Galaxy Garrison was better, it had Shiro and Adam and Matt. People he could call friends. But the anger still sat in his stomach, waiting to strike. And it always did eventually. When Griffin brought up his parents, when the older kids tried stealing his food like back at the group home, when Iverson berated him for the smallest of things. The anger was definitely still there, but it was manageable.
Then everything exploded all at once.
The Kerberos mission was presumed dead. Pilot error. Adam wouldn’t leave the house, locked away and falling to pieces. The Holt family was in shambles, mourning the loss of their loved ones. They had all tried to talk to Keith, but the roaring in his ears was too much.
He had marched himself into Iversons office and demanded answers. Shiro was the best pilot of his generation, he would never make a mistake. Iverson told him to leave, and every fiber of his being retaliated.
The voice in the back of his head that sounded suspiciously like Shiro was overwhelmed by the crackling flames that engulfed his senses.
Keith lunged at his commanding officer, putting all his pain, anger, and loss into the punch heading directly for the man’s eye.
Even as he was told to pack his things, that his social worker was on her way. He felt a hint of vindication knowing that Iversons eye would never be the same. A reminder of the child he failed.
But the anger was still waiting just beneath his skin, ready to strike at any moment. He could feel it just behind his eyes as he fled. Aiming for the desert where no one would find him. He couldn’t be labeled a statistic if they didn’t find him.
Keith was angry, standing alone in the back of a gas station. The family in line ahead of him was full of joyous laughter and smiling faces. Kids holding close their drinks of choice and parents looking at them like they were the lights of their lives. Keith left without buying anything. Stomping outside with tears forming in his eyes. It didn’t matter, the wind would dry them away eventually.

For bthb, could you do Keith with seizures? The cause could be something to with him being half Galra? Maybe it happens in the atlas (season 8?) completely optional suggestion I’d love it if you only do the first part (first time suggesting something so sorry if this is worded weirdly)
It’s been ages, and whoever you are, dear anon, I have no idea whether you’ll ever actually see this, but I hope you do and I hope you enjoy.

Voltron had saved another planet. That meant yet another celebration to thank them, something that the team always had mixed feelings about. Lance and Allura and Coran loved them, always ready for a chance to mingle and socialize (and in Lance’s case, flirt), while Pidge and Keith were less than thrilled, both of them preferring to stay away from social situations whenever possible. Shiro and Hunk seemed to fall somewhere in the middle, only really complaining if they were especially tired, but enjoying themselves most of the time once they were there.
He didn’t know about the others, but Keith also struggled with seeing the necessity of these events. Sure, he knew that the planet’s people were thankful for their help, but did it really require a party every time? Didn’t they have better things they could be doing, like, you know, saving more planets? This was a war. Allura was always preaching the importance of diplomacy, but he had a hard time believing that it should take precedence over battles.
Plus, they never really knew what they were getting themselves into when landing on an alien planet. Of all the members of Voltron, Keith really should have been the best at getting thrown into new, unknown situations. After all, that’s how he’d spent his entire childhood. But those families had all been human, at least, and therefore mostly predictable. Alien planets were anything but.
For instance, on most planets the celebrations had been rather formal affairs, some even with dancing like a ball straight out of a movie. Others had been more casual, and many focused on food (those were Hunk’s favorites, of course).
On this particular planet, though, as soon as the president announced that the festivities would begin, the ballroom-like space turned instantly into a club. The main lights switched off, but were replaced by multi-colored beams that spun wildly around the room. Speakers hidden somewhere in the ceiling and walls began blasting what apparently passed as music on this planet, complete with a drumbeat that vibrated the floor.
Keith, taken completely off guard, couldn’t stop his violent flinch. He did, however, just barely catch himself before his hands clapped over his ears. Sucking in a deep breath, he forced his arms back down by his sides. Loud sounds had always been miserable for him. He’d had to learn a long time ago that it wasn’t always appropriate to indulge himself and try to block them out, though. Some people didn’t take very kindly to that, and the last thing he wanted was to insult anyone here. Allura would have his head.
The lights were awful, too, and he blinked several times in a row before settling on just squinting at everything. Every time one flashed directly across his face he winced, trying not to squeeze his eyes shut and leave them that way. Not that it mattered much if he did, he could still see the colors behind his eyelids.
“Woo!” Lance yelled, immediately getting into the spirit and waving his arms over his head. “Heck yeah, this is what I call a party!” And he was off, sliding and bopping through the crowd, getting everyone around him excited and dancing.
Why can’t you be more like him? that ugly voice in Keith’s head sneered. Everybody loves Lance, no matter where we go. Really, why can’t you be more like any of them?
The rest of the team were all looking far more comfortable in this environment than he ever could. Some were dancing, others eating and chatting. Even Pidge had found someone to talk technology or math with, judging by the passion in her expression. Meanwhile, he just stood there awkwardly, fighting against the strong urge in every inch of his body to flee the room and find somewhere dark and quiet to hide.
Pretty recently he’d finally realized that his sensitive eyes and ears probably came from his Galra side, thanks to getting to know the Blades and his mom and finding out more about their physiology. That didn’t make him feel any better about it. Sure, he was getting more and more used to the whole half-Galra thing, and getting closer to actually, fully accepting it. But this was just another case of being Galra making him different. More accurately, weird. Another reason why he’d never fit in anywhere he went.
And that’s why I can’t be like them. Because I’m not like them, and I never will be.
Weaving slowly through the crowd of aliens, Keith made his way toward the wall closest to the entrance. He tried his best not to bump into anyone, despite the fact that half of them were in the middle of flailing - ahem, dancing. Still, hands and sleeves brushed against his arms and shoulders. Somehow they felt like pins pricking his skin, even through his jacket. He hurried past, wrapping his arms around himself tightly and tucking himself up against the wall. But the wall was vibrating, like the floor. It shot up his spine into his head, making him clench his teeth even harder, and he quickly stood up straight again.
He thought he was going to be sick. Which was stupid, it was just lights and music. But it was crawling underneath his skin, pounding into his temples, clogging up his throat.
He wanted to go home.
“Hey, man! You okay over here?” Hunk appeared next to him, shouting to be heard over the chaos of music and conversations. “You look kinda pale.”
The added noise stabbed through Keith’s skull, and he tried his hardest not to show it. “‘m fine.”
Finishing chewing whatever he’d just popped into his mouth, Hunk frowned and stepped a little closer. “You sure? I mean, I know you don’t like parties, but…this seems a bit worse than normal.”
Keith looked over at him. He seemed entirely genuine, as Hunk usually was. “The lights and music are just…” This time he failed to keep from flinching when one of the beams crossed his face. “A lot. It’s no big deal, though.”
“Ohhh.” Hunk’s expression morphed from concern to something that was probably pity, which is not what he was hoping for. “Yeah, Shiro said at some point that you have like, sensitive eyes and stuff, right? I’m sorry, man. You could go back to the Castle, you know. You don’t have to stay if you’re miserable.”
He shook his head. “No, it’s…it’s fine.” He wasn’t going to disappear and risk it causing any number of problems - alien presidents getting offended, Allura deciding she needed them all to line up and have some sort of ceremony, some kind of further attack occurring. Call him paranoid, but all of the above had happened before. “Don’t worry about me, I’ll be okay.”
He really needed this conversation to end now, though. Having to talk and focus on what Hunk was saying, and also smelling the food he was holding on top of the smell of a bunch of alien sweat and perfumes was making things even worse. It felt like his head was going to explode with all of the sensations it was trying to process.
In fact, maybe it was already exploding. Maybe it was slowly frying, at least, because there were stars appearing around him that he was pretty sure weren’t part of the party’s special effects. Hunk was saying something else next to him, but Keith couldn’t process it, staring up at the blinking stars. Everything in the room seemed to be moving in slow motion all of a sudden. Then there was an especially bright burst of light, and he vaguely felt himself falling.
.
.
“I’ll be okay,” he said. “Don’t worry,” he said. But then Hunk was watching Keith stare off into space at nothing before starting to shake and dropping abruptly to the floor.
“Whoa! Keith!” He dove onto his knees, torn between watching Keith’s whole body twitch and jerk uncontrollably and looking around frantically for someone to help him. Everyone’s attention was on the festivities, though, not down on the floor, and the music was way too loud to call out to anyone. Hunk was the only one who knew something was wrong.
And he was…not really equipped to handle something like this. He’d had some first aid classes, though, so he could…he could do this, right? It wasn’t like there was another choice. Keith needed him.
This was definitely a seizure. And it was horrifying. But he had to ignore that and focus on what he could do. He knew he wasn’t supposed to hold onto him, couldn’t stop the terrible shaking that had taken over his body, but he was pretty sure it was a good idea to try and cushion his head. So he scooted over, reaching out tentatively and very, very carefully lifting Keith’s head with both hands until he could set it into his lap.
The Red Paladin’s eyes were open, but only white was showing. Hunk’s heart was in his throat watching him. Vaguely he thought he remembered something about counting when someone was having a seizure, but he had no idea why or how much time had passed already so he didn’t try to start. All he could do at that point was watch and wait and hope that it would be over soon.
And eventually, after what seemed like a lifetime, it was. Keith’s body relaxed as quickly as it had begun seizing, going limp on the floor. He looked…dead. Which completely freaked Hunk out for a moment, almost more than the seizure had to start with, until he saw his chest rise and fall once, then twice. Okay. Okay, so he wasn’t dead. He was…not okay, but he wasn’t seizing and he wasn’t dead. Now he just needed to get someone’s attention, and since the shaking was past he was able to scoop him up in his arms and stand.
It didn’t take long after that for someone to notice them then. One paladin draped across another’s arms was kind of concerning, apparently, and pretty soon they had a swarm of aliens and the other paladins around them, ready to help.
.
.
After the stars and the falling, Keith didn’t remember much besides a buzzing sensation, like electricity had taken over his limbs. The next thing he was fully aware of was opening his eyes to blissful darkness and quiet. The only sound was a whispered conversation in an unseen corner of the room, which quickly came to a halt when he shifted.
“Keith? You with us, bud?”
“Y-yeah.” He stretched out his legs, trying to figure out what he was lying on and why it felt like someone had beaten him with a stick. Every single muscle in his body was sore, even ones he didn’t realize he had. “What, uh…what happened?”
Hunk scooted out to the edge of the chair across from him, catching his attention. “You, um…had a seizure. It was super scary, man. I’d be really okay if that never happened again, but I mean of course I don’t like, blame you for it, I highly doubt you did it on purpose.”
“I wasn’t actually there for the seizure part, but seeing you passed out wasn’t exactly reassuring, either,” Lance piped in, appearing to perch on the arm of Hunk’s chair. “I just thought you were pale before, that was like, ghost quality.”
Keith was still trying to wrap his mind around the concept of having a seizure, but he was surprised to see them both there, especially Lance. “You should still be at the party, not worrying over me. I didn’t mean to interrupt everything.”
“You think I was gonna keep dancing with the ladies while my teammate was in here dying?” Lance scoffed, sounding offended. “The ladies will just have to do without me for a little while.”
“The ladies are probably all waiting to thank Keith for distracting you for a few minutes,” Pidge quipped drily. She draped herself over the back of the couch that Keith was apparently lying on. “And he’s not dying, anyway. He’s fine.” Her eyes cut over to Keith’s face, and he could see concern trying not to show itself. “Right?”
“Um. Yeah. I…think.” He started to push himself up, grimacing a little at the pull on his muscles, but Pidge placed the heel of her hand on his forehead and shoved him back down.
“Cool it, cowboy, you need to rest.”
“I’m fine, really. I don’t know what happened, but…I’m okay now.” He was pretty sure, anyway. He felt relatively normal, other than the soreness, but not knowing what had brought on the seizure and whether or not it would happen again was a bit concerning, to say the least. “It isn’t the first time I’ve had one, anyway. Happened once when I was a kid, too. And I was fine then,” he added quickly.
“Was there a lot of sensory input happening then, too?” Shiro crossed the room, tucking a datapad into his pocket. “Hunk said you were complaining about the lights and music.”
Keith thought back to the first incident, at a foster brother’s birthday party in an arcade. “Yeah. There was.” The foster parents had sent him away after that, claiming they were unprepared to deal with major medical issues. Never mind that it hadn’t happened again for almost a decade, and not until he was all the way in outer space.
Shiro nodded. “I was just talking to the Blade’s medic. Apparently it isn’t a common thing for Galra to experience, but he has seen it before in mixed species. The Galra sensory issues combined with…something that certain other races have, it was a bit over my head. But he’d like to run some tests next time he sees you, just to be sure.”
Keith groaned and shook his head. Just what he needed, more tests by the Blade trying to figure out how exactly his body worked.
“I appreciate you guys, um…being there for me. Helping me out. Especially, um, you, Hunk. I hate that I caused a scene, though. You all should get back before you’re missed too much.”
“Don’t worry about it.” Hunk waved a hand dismissively. “Allura and Coran are still holding down the fort out there, though we should definitely let them know soon that you’re awake and okay. They were worried about you.”
“We’d all much rather be in here making sure you’re okay, Mullet.”
It never failed to surprise him, hearing the rest of the team express any kind of care and concern for him. A warm feeling invaded his chest and eased some of the tension in his body.
“And Keith? If this ever happens again, will you please let us know so we can help before your body freaks out?” Pidge poked him in the stomach to emphasize her words.
“Uh…yeah. Yeah, I can do that, I guess.” Part of him still wanted to protest about diplomacy and not angering aliens and such, but he knew he’d just get shut down. Instead he glanced around at the team and smiled a little. “Thanks.”

There’s a knock on his door.
Keith freezes. There’s never a knock at his door.
“…Yeah?” he calls out cautiously, dog-earing his book and setting it down on his mattress. Shiro doesn’t knock, Shiro just calls out from wherever he is. Or texts him. And it’s not like Keith even has friends over, because he’d have to have friends to have them over. Shiro is also, as it turns out, equally as uncool, and never has company.
The door handle turns, and Adam pokes his head through the crack.
“You busy?” he asks.
Keith blinks. “Oh. Hi.”
That makes sense. Adam is here a lot. Keith has kind of forgotten to count him as company, actually. He kind of just appears at random times. Keith is half convinced that Adam is actually some kind of hologram Shiro has created to argue with, mostly because imagining that is really funny.
But he’s never come to Keith’s room before.
“Hi,” he says back, smiling slightly. “Shiro had to run out to handle something because the Garrison would delve into chaos without him, apparently. So he’ll be gone until after dinner.”
He looks at Keith expectantly. Keith stares back, eyes big, because he has no idea what the hell to say to that. Like, he’s correct, Shiro is the one and only thing holding the stupid school together, but Keith’s not quite sure why Adam has come to announce that to him.
“So are you free?” Adam repeats.
“Oh,” Keith says, startling a little. This is a — Adam is seeking him out. Intentionally. Planned. The fiancé of his foster — father? brother? mentor? Keith should ask more questions — has made plans, and they include Keith. Keith is being considered as someone to be hung out with.
“Yeah,” he says, voice cracking. “I’m free.”
“Cool,” Adam says, nodding. “C’mon.”
Keith scrambles off his bed and to the door, not wanting to give Adam time to change his mind. Not that it matters, or Keith cares about hanging out with him. Or anybody for that matter. But he’s curious, so.
“What are we doing?” Keith asks, jogging after him. Adam is a power walker. There’s not a lot of space to power walk in the small apartment, but Adam manages to leave him in the dust anyway. More fuel to Keith’s hologram theory.
“Well, obviously I love your brother more than the moon and stars,” Adam says matter-of-factly, striding over to the kitchen and opening counters.
Keith blinks. Well. That’s one question answered, he supposes.
“But I’m worried.” Adam sets down his armful of supplies; a small mixing bowl, chopsticks, a knife, a cutting board, and an array of vegetables. “Takashi tries very hard at everything he does. It usually gets him quite far. But cooking?” He shakes his head, grabbing a strainer and a head of cabbage and stepping over to the sink. “I don’t know who cursed him, but he’s physically incapable. And you’re thirteen. You’re growing. You can’t eat boxed noodles and peanut butter sandwiches all day. It’s bad for you. Come here.”
“I eat a lot of fruit,” Keith offers, feeling strangely like he has to defend Shiro, or something. Not even necessarily against Adam. Perhaps against the Allegations. “He’s very big on oranges. And mandarins. All citrus, really. There’s a lot of it.”
Adam rolls his eyes. “That is because Takashi read a book about scurvy when he was fourteen and is now terrified of it, because he is a goober. He’s also afraid of squirrels, if you’re wondering. He found out that some of them are carnivorous and never recovered.”
A tiny, barely there smile quirks his lips. Keith bites the corners of his mouth so it doesn’t get any ideas, then steps hesitantly towards the kitchen island, across from Adam. He watches him scrub the leafy vegetable, careful to get in all the nooks and crannies, then pat it dry. He moves to set the cabbage down and then seems to think better of it, leaning back against the sink.
“Get me the salt,” he says, gesturing to a bowl on the counter with pursed lips.
Keith narrows his eyes at it suspiciously. “Why?”
“You ask a lot of questions,” Adam observes.
“You answer very vaguely,” Keith returns.
Adam barks a laugh. Keith finds himself pleased at the reaction.
“I’m going to scrub the cabbage with it,” Adam explains. “It’ll draw out the moisture and take out any leftover dirt, too.”
Satisfied at the answer, Keith grabs the salt bowl, bringing it over. He moves to go back to his spot but Adam stops him with a wet hand around his wrist, gently guiding his hands towards the cabbage. Keith wills his shoulders to relax.
“One hand open to support it, one hand in the salt bowl,” Adam instructs quietly. “Grab a handful and start rubbing it in.”
Hesitantly, Keith grabs the offered cabbage, hyperaware of how his shoulder brushes against Adam’s bicep when he moves; how he doesn’t move away, but he’s not crowding, either. Just…close.
“I can actively feel my fingers pruning,” Keith says in disgust.
Adam snorts. “Yeah, they do that.”
Step by step, Adam guides him through chopping vegetables, measuring spices, mixing sauces, and handling the stove until Keith is working his way through a basic stir-fry like a pro. He’s more shocked than he should be when he tries his first bite of it and likes it.
“You have managed to avoid being cursed, too,” Adam says around his own bite, pleasantly surprised. “I was worried that living with Takashi would curse you by proxy. But this is good.”
“I mean. It was stir-fry. We chopped and we fried. Hard to fuck up,” Keith points out.
“You’d think. When I tried to do this with Shiro, the pan was charred so bad we had to throw it out. I don’t even know what he did. I was right there. It’s like he destroyed it by rancid vibes alone.”
Keith hides a smile in his noodles. Adam notices anyway, and grins.
“Sounds about right.”
“You’re good, though, kiddo,” Adam says, and his hand is heavy on Keith’s head. “You’re good.”
Keith swallows the sudden lump in his throat. His face gets red.
He leans into the touch.

scars
Keithtober '23 week 1
Their first time in bed together, Lance counts all of Keith’s scars. Naked and bare beyond just his body, it’s the most vulnerable Keith has ever been with someone. Lance’s fingers trail over his arm, up to the scar on his shoulder, tracing its shape with the type of care and concentration he has only seen Lance use with his sniper rifle. Once satisfied, Lance moves his hand up, dragging across Keith’s skin in a knowing motion that Keith can’t help but lean into, and reaches the burn scar on his face, thumb caressing the ruined skin.
Then Lance finds the old ones.
The ones Keith got pre-space and pre-war. He tells Lance all about those. When he would climb trees and scrape his knees and forearms. When he got older and started fights with the other kids in his foster home and school. There’s even a scar on the palm of his right hand, usually covered by his fingerless gloves, from when he accidentally cut himself on his knife stuffed under his pillow—he learned to keep it sheathed after that.
Lance kisses each one and Keith shivers at his touch, eyelids fluttering. His hands rest on Lance’s back, fingers settling on the familiar puckered skin. He doesn’t need to ask where that scar is from.
Unbothered by the touch, Lance hums against the side of Keith’s neck, pressing light kisses up to his jaw. “You’re so beautiful,” he mutters near Keith’s ear.
Keith turns until Lance lays on his side and they face each other. “Look in the mirror sometime,” he whispers with a laugh. He places a hand on Lance’s chest, over his heart. Lance has less scars than Keith, but there are still too many on his skin, all far too recent. The childhood ones are meaningless. It’s the life or death ones Keith can never stop staring at in these moments.
But Lance just smiles at him, mouth opening as he says, “Flirt.”
Keith moves forward, hand on the side of Lance’s neck, as he kisses him. Warm breath brushes over his lips when they part. “The truth,” Keith replies and tucks himself into Lance, wrapping his arms tight around him. Lance mirrors his action.
Without a doubt, they’ll both acquire many more scars, keep marring their bodies until this war ends one way or another. But their touch will heal each other afterwards; that is one thing worth holding onto.

Fic Series Idea - "There is no Escape Once Cradled in the Bat's Cape" Saga, or Gotham had just as much as an adoption problem as their champion.
Buckle up people this is going to be a long one...
Okay, So I've been looking in to Batman crossovers, and I've noticed that there is a large majority of MLB, DP, and Spider-Man ofr the crossovers. However, I have also found a very small percentage of cross-dimensional adoption fics, with Zuko from ATLA and Keith VLD, two dark angsty boys who definitely need the love of the batfam.
So, I'm planning out a multipart (At least on AO3) Saga, where, we can watch Zuko Keith, And Jet from ATLA get sucked up by Gotham, whom is a manifestation of darkness, insanity, and empathy and stands as the spirit in control of the land that both Gotham and Buldhaven would be eventually be built (much like Agni is for the fire nation).
1) The first installment would be Zuko's origin in the Batfamily.
After Agni can't stand to watch the soft hearted price suffer through his fate again, the deity of the sun calls a meeting with Gotham, begging sanctuary for the boy. After some rather harsh words, Gotham agrees, and swipes up Zuko right out of the Royal infirmary, mere hours after the Agni Kai. All While Iroh watches in horror. Left in the Prince's place is a single scroll, written in the language of spirits, the only part that Iroh can understand, is that in order to find his nephew he had to restore the honor to his nation and aid in the champion of the four nations, for that is a the only way that Iroh will ever find Zuko again. So, Iroh starts his quest for the Avatar.
On Zuko's end, Gotham dropped the prince in an alleyway, and lured a Robin!Jason to his location. Upon discovering a child laying in a dumpster with half of his face charred black, Jason phones Bruce and Zuko is taken to the Batcave. Even though the young prince is underneath the care of the incredibly skilled and patient Doc. Tompkins, Zuko quickly falls victim to infection, and his condition is touch and go for days. Bruce would go through all the identifying tests he can think of, but none of them even give a name to the dying kid in a quest room upstairs. The batman is honestly at a loss of what to do with the child. He can find no living family, no ID, no documents, no name. There's no where he can send the child, The foster system is out of the question, even if Zuko survives, he's be horribly scarred and likely disabled, not to mention even at 12 he'd be too old to good chances of getting adopted. All signs point to Bruce most likely becoming a father of three. Jason is fine with the idea of Zuko Staying. He's 15 at this point, old enough to be a good big brother.
Though things become a whole lot more complicated when Zuko is conscious enough to start talking...And he can't understand a lick of English...Our dramatic sparky boy, wakes up to an unknown world, in a utterly luxurious house, with people who are too pale to be water-tribe but have blue eyes, and wear weird robes. Zuko figures he was banished to this place, but he doesn't know what for, or what he can do to regain his honor, and these people are being so nice and gentle with him. Cue, confusion and panic.
Jason starts teaching Zuko English once he's conscious enough. The two grow closer, even if Zuko only grows more confused by learning. Once his bandages are removed, poor little prince ends up having a break down after seeing his reflection, one that Bruce walks in on. Que Overprotective BatDad, learning from a Zuko with Broken English skills, what, or who, gave the boy his scar. And yep, This kid was Bruce's now.
Zuko continues to heal, and eventually the holidays roll by. With the holidays came Dick Grayson, whom while still a hothead is trying to make a truce with Bruce for the sake of Jason, well, lets just say someone for got to tell him about the 12-year-old now living with them. Dick's temper gets the better of him and Zuko Get's spoked accidentally firebending at the Original robin. No one was hurt but Zuko still ran off, disappearing into the labyrinth of the manor. This situation is eventually resolved, and Zuko learns about the Batman, as Bruce offers to ask around the super community, and still very young Justice League, if there are other pyropaths who can help Zuko with learning control. Zuko doesn't want to at the moment as He's still getting used to everything else.
Eventually, Bruce makes Zuko his foster kid and with the help of the faked paper trail, gets him in school. He does well in math, as it is a universal (mulitversal lol) language, but Struggles with the other subjects, due to the language barrier and the fact that he's only ever had private tutors before. Everything is going well...
Then April rolls around. Jason and Bruce's relationship becomes strained, and eventually Jason learns about Shelia haywood, and goes looking for her. Jason says goodbye to Zuko before he leaves, and that he'll be bring a mom for them when he comes back. But everyone knows what happened. And instead of his brother Zuko gets a coffin. (sorry)
Months pass. Bruce trains Zuko, Just to make sure that his current youngest can protect himself, as Zuko refuses to put on the robin costume. Dick ends up spending more time at the manor, really trying to mend bridges after the tragedy. They live in this odd fog of grief, until one tiny Timothy Drake breaks into batcave with a resume and powerpoint explaining the need for a robin and offering himself to the position. Dick and Bruce pretty much go, "We can't just ignore this." because this kid is clearly being neglected. Tim is trained for Robin, wanting to follow in his hero's footsteps, and Zuko eventually decides to dawn his own cowl, as the Blue Spirit, because he can't let another Robin Die. that's where the first book ends.
2) second's installment is Keith's origin story.
Gotham after Zuko, starts to keep an eye out for souls they believe would thrive underneath their champion's care, even in worlds beyond their own. Gotham comes across one Keith Kogane, and right before Keith rams his fighter into the force shield at the end of season four, it isn't Lotor that comes to his rescue. Instead Gotham plucks the boy right out of the pilot seat and the pod still goes flying into the shield.
Keith is dumbed into an abandoned building, right in front of one on the run Cassandra Cain. Our angry little halfbred cupcake, has no idea, why a smoky person named Gotham has saved his life, or how they teleported him back to earth, but once he learns that this silent yet super sweet girl is being hunted by assassins, but he's not going to leave her alone. Besides she had seen him in his Blade uniform, and something is off with him. His fingers and jaw began to itch and ache, the odd vocal ticks he used to have as a kid come back with a vengeance, and his eyes water at night and whenever he looks at a light.
The two teenagers continue to travel, keeping out of sight from assassins and bonding. Keith for once has to be the talking one in a conversation, and Cass can obviously keep a secret, so keith doesn't hide anything from her. Besides once his teeth fall out and fangs grow in their place, his fingers bleed from growing a second set of retractable claws, and he gains a third eye lid, he can't really hide his mixed blood. Keith, talks, and starts to teach Cass how to read once he realized that she couldn't.
Eventually Keith learns about the city of Gotham, and feels a pull to go there. Once they are on route to the city the assassins, and stalkers get more and more intense, almost like they didn't want Keith and Cass to go there. This just makes Keith more determined. As the people after them won't want to follow them anymore if they were inside to Gotham territory. Sadly keith was wrong, the Assassins did follow them into the city, but now they were there to kill no capture, during the attack Batman, Robin and Blue Spirit show up.
At the end of the Keith finally has the pent up breakdown that has been right at his heels since the start of the story. Shouting about how his life doesn't make sense anymore, every since that smoky Gotham person snatched him, and Zuko goes, "you met Gotham?"
In the end, Bruce takes in both Keith and Cass, because both are sad traumatizes dark haired orphan even if both are legal adults his CAD (Compulsive Adoption Disorder) demands he keeps them, and while they don't know the motives of this Gotham Spirit, they create the code "Rapunzel". If any member of the family calls that code, it means that Gotham had dropped off another soul. Keith and Cass, become vigilantes. Cass is Black Bat, and with some modifications to his blade suit, Keith becomes Blade Bat.
3) Third installment! Jet's inclusion!
This one opens with Gotham watching over Jet while he dies from internal bleeding, and then the dark spirit vanishes away to make a deal with a certain other spirit...
Next thing Jet knows he's waking up in a Lazarus Pit. A woman with long dark hair and bright otherworldly green eyes, or as we know Talia Al Gaul, is pulling him out of it. She claims Jet as her own, even if Jet can't understand a word of what she is saying or what is happening.
Jason is also confused as to where Talia has found this frizzy-haired kid or why they were put in the pit or why Talia was training them with him. Once more Jason starts to teach a younger teen to speak in English, while Talia teaches, Jet Arabic and League speak. Jet struggles with Pit Rage, its even worse for him then with Jason. Mostly because Jet is much more frustrated with his situation. The sixteen-year-old wants to go home, he wants his troupe, the family he made after tragedy, he doesn't want to be here in this place, with a creepy woman who told him to all her mother, and a bunch of guys with way too many swords.
Jason is usually the one who has to deal with Jet's Rage, as Talia made them share a bedroom, and his big-brother instincts are slowly kicking in having been long dormant, it doesn't help that Jet is the age that Zuko would be if Jason had stayed at the manor. However, just as Jason is starting to connect with Jet, things go horribly wrong.
And here is where I'm going to take very heavy inspiration from the fic, "Jason and the Three Terrors", by, Cdephiki. I highly recommend this piece.
Talia runs into the boys' room in the middle of the night, waking them and telling them to pack. Ra's is getting to close to her plans and she doesn't want him to interfere with her children any longer. So, she gathers up Jason, Jet, Damian, Mara, and Athanasia and they flee into the mountains. Sadly though, Deathstroke catches up with them, and Talia is killed, leaving the Children to escape on their own. Jason and Jet have to navigate caring for three young children while running across Europe and Asia, meeting check point Talia had set up to help them disappear. At one of them Talia has left the Red Hood gear and helmet, and a nameless suit for Jet.
Eventually the League catches up with them, and they are forced to return to Gotham, (and on the plane ride, Jet learns that he gets Air-sick). Jason manages to get them a small apartment in Crime Alley, and they set up. He isn't comfortable with bring in the children into Bruce's care with the Joker still Alive, and Red Hood protector of Crime Alley is born, only this time he has a partner. His own dark reflection of Robin. Jet becomes White Hawk. The children are safe, Jason is cleaning up his home, Jet is more and more stable by the day. Things are good.
Until Ra's makes a reappearance. Assassins raids their apartment, and Jason and Jet are forces to run with the children in tow. Batman, Nightwing, robin (tim), Black Bat, Blade Bat, Spoiler and Blue Spirit intervene, thinking that Jet and Jason are kidnapping their own siblings. They get into a small scuffle, Until Ra's himself makes and appearance, with a bout a team of twenty assassins behind him. Once learning that Ra's wants the children and their connection to himself, Bruce completely forgets any ill will with Hood and Hawk and fights beside them in the presedeing brawl between the Assassins and bats.
Jason is run through during the chaos, and the bats retreat to the cave. for treatment. Bruce doesn't think twice about taking five children in at once, and he isn't about to be a deadbeat to his two bio children. Sure, Ra's will still be trying to hunt them down, but the Assassin's were beaten back for now. All is well..
Until Zuko takes his mask off...and Jet sees his golden eyes...
PTSD and Pit go into over drive and suddenly Zuko trying to die at the hands of Jet's blade. Keith, Bruce, Cass, Dick, and Tim, all jump into action holding Jet back. All of the younger kids are confused and on edge. The situation gets so bad that Bruce has to put Jet in a separate room, to keep the kids from killing each other, and to allow Thompkins to do her work and Save Jason.
Jason is stabilized (still knocked out), and Bruce takes control of the situation. He talks to the younger children first, getting their names and ensuring them that they'll be safe here. Alfred would make rooms for them, but everyone just wants to be by Jason's beside at the moment. Zuko approaches Bruce before, he leaves to speak with Jet, explaining what happened behind the attack. Zuko learned because Jet had slipped into Earth Kingdom Language during the attack, and Zuko recognized it, and all that Jet rambled about. Bruce reassures Zuko that he isn't at fault for Jet's trauma; he would've been a child during it after all. Then goes to speak to know a not Pit flooded, but still pissed off Jet.
They have a very informative discussion regarding, the differences between, vengeance and Justice, and Jet is of course emotionally adopted.
Later after Bruce, Dick, Zuko, and Jason reconcile and reunite. Zuko seeks out Jet, and apologizes for the fire nation's actions. There's little Zuko can do and what he has done isn't much, but he wants peace in his home, and him and Jet fighting would stop that. Jet Agrees to be civil, but they would never be family. Zuko is fine with that.
The next will either be the fourth or fifth installment, because I might do a self-indulgent, Jason/OFC fic in between these, but that remains to be seen....
4) Fourth/fifth Installment - Thomas Wayne, Flashpoint Batman
Gotham is watching one of the flashpoint time lines, watching crumble and shatter. For while Thomas was a good substitute, he would never achieve the full potential of the proper champion, forming an unstable reality. Only this time they don't allow Thomas (and maybe Martha I'm still 50/50 on whether she survives) to perish with in his reality. Gotham offers a second chance at family, or Thomas can go the way of his dopplegangers.
I think we all know which choice he takes...
There's nothing that groundbreaking that happens in this installment, just Thomas reconnecting with Alfred and Bruce, meeting the children and bruce's fiance (I ship BatCat and the relationship will be subtly developed on the side of the series). Thomas hangs up the cowl and works a more support team roll in the family, Tompkins isn't always available after all, and someone has to help Alfred watch the little ones who are either benched, injured, or not patrol ready.
5) Fifth/Sixth installment - Batman Beyond
Yep Terry is getting on this crazy train-wreck of the family, not just him though...Dana, Max, and Matt get swooped up too.
Once more Gotham is watching as a Beyond timeline is slowly breaking apart. The city is crumbling from non-stop earth quakes, satellites are zapping everything and Terry barely has had the time to rescue his loved ones from the chaos. Max was ready to go when he came for her. Dana needed more convincing, and Terry had to take his mask off to get her to come with him. Matt and Ms. Mcginnis....Terry only managed to get Matt out of the house, before the place went up in smoke.
The cave was the only place he could take them, but the batmoblie is shot out of the sky, just as they enter Wayne property. Terry yells at everyone to run into the manor, telling them to get to the cave through the clock, before confronting the one that shot them down. Blight (I think that's Powers' name), whom is supposed to be dead (fic taking place like mid season three) leaps out and he and Terry clash. During the fight, Terry's cowl get pulled down, and his suit is punctured. Blight eventually gets the upper hand to terry having already been injured in the crash, pick the teenager up by his neck and flinging him across the battlefield. Gotham steps in by this point, killing Blight by devoring him slowly with a swarm of supernatural bats. Terry makes a break for it running inside the manor.
Inside Old Man Wayne, explains what's happening, the timeline is breaking down, and there isn't anything the can to to stop it. Gotham appears in the cave, and Wayne recognizes them. He asks Gotham to spare the children, Gotham agrees after all Wayne has served as her faithful champion for decades, its time they pay him back. Terry tries to argue that he should saved too. Wayne disagrees, saying that he has sins to pay for and he doesn't have long anyway. After a farewell, Gotham, takes Terry, Max, Matt, Dana, and Ace, whirling them away to another more stable dimension.
The group lands in crime ally, in an ally (heh). It's late at night, and cold out. Terry barely makes it a few steps before the adrenaline wares off, and he collapses. Dana stays with him, while Max, Matt, and Ace go looking for help. Long story, short, they get jumped, but Red Hood and White Hawk don't allow kids to get hurt in their ally. Max sees the bat on Hood's uniform, and asks if he knows batman. Hood said he's bat adjacent. And Max grabs his arm and starts to drag him to where Terry and Dana are. Hood is so confused by this action he just freezes, but he's running full speed once he hears Matt say his brother's hurt.
They pretty quickly deduce that Terry's outfit is not a costume, and they call a code Rapunzel. Bruce rushes over to the scene, and after determining that Terry is stable. Takes, them back to the cave (Red Hood and White Hawk riding behind them on Hood's cycle). Bruce gets the run-down of what happened from Terry, during the ride, though Bruce does try to tell him it can weight until after he's seen a doc. Kid doesn't listen, only continues to talk until he's hit with a wave of nausea.
Once at the cave, Terry is handed off to Thomas, and Bruce takes care of the minor cuts and bruises the others have. Max takes up the role of explaining everything, as she was closest to the batman beyond team, other then terry...Then Thomas comes running out ordering everyone to take a decontamination shower. Jet and Jason take Matt while Cass (who was in the cave) took the girls into the respective locker rooms. Thomas diagnoses Terry with acute radiation sickness.
The rest of this fic would be terry slowly recovering and the others adjusting. Matt would be coming to terms with his mother's death, and getting close to his new siblings, especially Damian, Athansia, and Mara as they are the closest in age. Max meets Oracle, begins to train underneath her. Dana, feels out of control and after talking with Selina agrees to get training so she can protect herself. It would end, with the whole family playing rooftop tag on Terry's first patrol.
The next two installments
they would pretty much be follow ups to Zuko/Keiths realities and how they plan on getting their angsty boys back.
Iroh, would get Aang to translate the scroll that Gotham left behind, and a very reluctant John Constantine, sends the Gaang to Gotham.
On Keith's side, Lance and Matt are really ticked off by Shiro (kuron) behavior, and this leads to them digging to find out what is really going on. Red contacts lance through his dreams and tells him that Keith is still alive, and Black is waiting for him. This only furthers Lance and Matt to push forward, Krolia joins them after learning about the name of the former Red Paladin and leaves her mission to go find her son. Eventually they get the real Shiro back, and all he wants to see Keith. The search continues....
Well that's all the planning I have. I did play around with the Idea of Mirabel from Encanto getting picked by Gotham but I'm not sure if it would work. What do you think? is this a good idea to dive deeper into.

Character Notes:
Phoney is extremely greedy, letting very little deter him from trying to get rich through some scheme he has hatched. This often leads him to act in patronizing or selfish ways that tend to land him and his cousins, Fone Bone and Smiley Bone, in trouble, such as at the beginning of the series where his actions led to him and his cousins being run out of their home of Boneville by an angry mob. He often acts as a cynical counterpoint to his more polite cousins.
While arrogant and often in a bad mood, Phoney does care about his cousins, having raised them growing up and often resorted to his dirty tricks as a means to provide for them. His cousin Smiley has also noted that he has repaid his debts on at least on occasion. And while at times unpleasant, his schemes have rarely if ever have malicious intent behind them and almost always end with his own humiliation.

how team voltron would be taking care of a baby
(source: i’m nannying a 6 month old rn)
shiro: for all the jokes of “space dad” and how good he is at leading a team of teenagers this man surprisingly cannot care for a baby. at least not on his own. he would eventually lose patience of the baby needing something but him not knowing what it is they need. he’s not a mind reader!!! stop crying and learn to talk!!!!! but at least they don’t talk back…
keith: he grew up in the foster system and read parenting books to properly critique his various caretakers. may have also been staying with a family with a baby a few times. he knows what to do but he gets nervous actually doing it because he knows how easy it is to mess up. babies are so fragile! did you know sometimes babies just. die in their sleep?? it’s called sudden infant death syndrome and there’s no warning signs beforehand. isn’t that terrifying (“keith stop talking about death while holding an infant”)
pidge: absolutely horrendous babysitter material. shiro lost his patience but at least he had any to begin with. pidge sees a baby as a drooling poopy noise maker and opts out immediately. what do you mean she shouldn’t distract it with a tablet? who cares about its development 🙄 the best she can do is make a bottle or grab a diaper while the actual sitter’s hands are full with the baby. (once the baby reaches like. age 6 and up tho she’s a good sitter they cause chaos together)
lance: tio lance to the rescue 😎 absolute king of a babysitter he’s been doing this all his life. has all the patience ever because he’s a baby whisperer and finds them too cute to get upset with them. matches their baby outfits to his own. the one that everyone else calls for when they run into trouble when babysitting solo. peekaboo KING
hunk: it takes him a bit of freaking out and figuring it out but eventually he gets pretty good at it!! it must be from being lance’s best friend. and also being generally perfect. he tries way too hard to not make messes tho. you just gotta embrace that babies are professional mess makers and that you have to clean up after them. but it’s okay because they’re adorable and they babble at you ❤️ he’s the best hunkle one could ask for (until it’s time to go down for a nap and they just won’t. then he starts to lose patience)
allura: loves holding and cuddling and playing with babies ❤️ absolutely determined to be the best auntie ever ^_^ gonna get them so many toys and cute clothes and get so many pictures and videos of them. …but wait. the baby’s… crying? …they need a diaper change? okay back to your parents you go little one!!
coran: he raised allura alongside her parents and who knows what else he’s done in his life he’s got a wild backstory. that said he’s like magic at babysitting. the most difficult of children are no match for him. they babble at him and he talks back as if it’s a full conversation. says “fascinating…” at half of the random shit they do. he’s learning from them as much as they’re learning from him. he’s walking cocomelon to them

Pt 1
---------
Keith doesn't find out for a while. It slips his mind briefly when Shiro disappears. He doesn't have the time to think about it. Not when he's trying to find his brother.
He's reminded after Black chooses him.
"I can't be the leader. I- I'm not-"
"Keith," Lance says. He puts his hand on Keith's shoulder. It's comforting, distracting him from his tears enough that he doesn't immediately start to cry.
Keith looks up at Lance and into his eyes. They were brown this time. A deep, rich brown, like the earth after rain, with flecks of gold in them. Keith thinks that he likes Lance's eyes when they're brown, not blue.
"The black lion has chosen you to be its Paladin. I respect it's choice, and you should too," Lance tells him. Keith nods, unable to say anything because he truly thinks that he'll cry.
Keith can feel Red and Black in his mind. Black is much calmer than Red, who often burned like fire did.
She was saying goodbye, that she enjoyed having him as her Paladin but that he was truly meant to be Black's Paladin instead. Red's fire slowly disappeared, leaving him with Black, who pressed comfort into his mind.
Everyone separates after they congratulate Keith on the promotion, each person going to do what they need to do. Keith goes to the training deck, needing something to keep him occupied.
He takes down bot after bot, not caring about how long it's been, loosing himself in the comfort of being able to take out his frustration and anger on something that wasn't alive, but that he could still cut down without mercy.
Shiro wasn't there to stop him, to remind him to take care of himself, so he continued to train.
"End simulation." The program obeyed the voice. Keith turned to glare at the person who had cut his training short, only to be met with Lance standing there, arms crossed and eyebrows raised.
"What do you want, Lance?" He asked. Lance was silent for a few ticks.
"You need to take a break," he simply said when he did speak. Keith rolled his eyes.
"As if I need you to mother hen me," Keith snapped. Lance just sighed.
"Your movements have been getting slower, so has your reaction time," he pointed out.
"So?"
"So, knowing you, you've been training non-stop for hours without a break, and I now have to drag you out of here kicking and screaming, so that you can shower and eat." Keith scowled.
"I'm fine," he insisted. When was Lance so observant of him?
Another sigh from Lance.
"Please, Keith. You're our leader, now, you need to be well rested so that you can carry out leader duties," Lace reasoned. Keith's Bayard changed from a sword to its simplest form.
"I never asked to be the leader. I can't... I can't lead you guys like Shiro," he said. The admission had him turning away from Lance, staring at the floor. He hadn't meant to tell Lance that, but there was something about Lance that made Keith feel comfortable enough to open up to him.
"Keith," Lance said. A hand came to rest on his back, gentle and comforting. "The point isn't to be a leader like Shiro was. The point is to step up and fill your role, even if you don't want it. Black chose you. If she didn't think that you could lead us, then she would have chosen someone else, like Allura."
"I just... This is the second time, Lance. The second time I've lost my brother. I- my mom left me when I was a baby, and then my dad died and I was left alone in the fucking foster system, then I met Shiro and he decided to give me a chance, and then I lost him when he left for Kerberos and- it hurts." The last two words were quiet. Keith realised bleakly that there were tears on his face.
Lance pulled him in for a hug.
Keith held onto him like he was his lifeline, the only thing keeping him tethered in the endless expanse of space.
"Pidge knows how you feel," Lance reminded him when he'd calmed down enough. Keith just nodded.
He left the training room behind. When he showered, he just stood there, under the water, feeling numb while Black pressed comfort into his mind. He went through the motions as if he were a robot, washing his hair, his body, and then stepping out and drying himself and getting dressed.
He didn't have anything to do, so he just... Walked. He didn't have anywhere he needed to be, so he just walked.
He ended up finding Pidge sitting in Green's hangar, typing away on something.
"Hey, Pidge," he said.
"Hey, Keith," she replied. She continued to do whatever it was she was doing.
"Mind if I sit here?"
"Go ahead, as long as you're not going to annoy me like Lance does." Keith gave a small smile at that and sat on the floor near Pidge. They were silent for a while. "It sucks, doesn't it?" She asked randomly.
"What does?"
"Shiro," came the reply. Easy and simple. Keith nodded.
"Yeah. He's... He's my brother, and this is the second time I've lost him," he told her. Pidge stood up and sat on the floor with Keith, resting her head on his shoulder. Keith rested his head on hers.
"It sucks so, so much. I just- I just want to find them. Matt and Dad." Keith understood what Lance was getting at earlier.
Go talk to someone who knows your pain, who can sympathize with you.
Keith wrapped an arm around the youngest of the group and hugged her.
"We'll find them. All of them. Shiro, Matt, your dad. We'll find them, we'll bring peace to the universe, and then we can go home and just live our lives," Keith said.
"I hope you're right." Pidge curled up further into Keith's side.
He hoped so too.

Keith Miller says "The way to love someone is to lightly run your finger over that person’s soul until you find a crack - and then gently pour your love into that crack."
The concept of loving someone as delicately as finding a crack in their soul and pouring love into it is truly beautiful and speaks to the depth and empathy required for genuine connection. This idea embraces the complexities and vulnerabilities that make each individual unique, emphasizing the importance of understanding and compassion in nurturing a profound bond with another person.
Loving someone in this manner is indeed a journey of discovery, one that demands patience, empathy, and a willingness to embrace the intricacies of a person's being. It goes beyond surface-level affection, requiring a deep connection that explores and appreciates the nuances that define an individual. Understanding their fears, desires, and experiences is crucial to fostering a meaningful and enduring love.
Approaching someone's soul with gentleness and openness, akin to delicately tracing a fragile surface, demonstrates a respectful acknowledgment of the fragility of the human spirit. Embracing the imperfections and scars within a person is an essential part of demonstrating empathy and care for them.
Once a crack in their soul is found, the act of pouring love into it is symbolic of offering support, comfort, and understanding to help mend wounds and fill voids within their being. This act reflects the profound kindness and compassion that true love embodies, serving as a powerful metaphor for nurturing and healing.
Practicing this approach to love necessitates being present, attentive, and empathetic, creating a safe space for the other person to be vulnerable and share without fear of judgment. It involves providing unwavering support and understanding, and being open to receiving and embracing the love they offer in return.
By delving into the core of what it means to genuinely connect with another human being, this approach to love transcends superficial aspects of relationships and fosters deep, meaningful connections. It requires courage, vulnerability, and a willingness to confront and embrace both our own complexities and those of the ones we love.
At its essence, loving someone in this way is transformative and has the potential to enrich and elevate our lives. It is a journey of empathy, growth, and exploration that can cultivate enduring connections capable of withstanding challenges and adversity.
Keith Miller's quote beautifully captures the essence of this approach to love, reminding us to cherish and honor the cracks in each other's souls as a testament to our shared humanity. It serves as a poignant reminder that love, when offered with tenderness and understanding, has the power to heal, strengthen, and enrich the lives of those we hold dear.
In summary, the concept of delicately loving someone by finding the cracks in their soul and pouring love into them encapsulates the profound depth and empathy necessary for meaningful connections. It speaks to the essence of understanding, compassion, and the transformative power of love.

whenever I think about Kethe and Akira's future relationship in abyss of memory, and how they'll eventually come around to viewing each other as twins, my brain automatically asks 'okay but what if they were twins for real' but today I actually made the mistake of entertaining it and now I am just. thinking about it a lot.
like. they're identical twins. When Krolia left, she took Akira with her, and Keith stayed behind on Earth. They both know they have a twin brother, but only Akira knows the full story. Heath was always planning on telling Keith when he was older, but he didn't have the chance to before he died.
Despite being literal galaxies apart, they've always shared a connection and can sometimes get impressions from the other. It helped Keith feel a little less alone while he was in foster care, but he doesn't really talk about his twin that much. Shiro's the only one who knows he exists.
So which on is the red paladin, you ask? The answer is that they both are. Akira is on Sendak's ship for a Blade mission at the same time Keith is there to steal the red lion back for the paladins. They meet each other in the hangar, briefly face off before recognizing the other- which what the fuck, how are you this far out in space, before they team up against the sentries and are both scooped up by the red lion.
They don't have any time to talk until after the crisis is handled. At no point does Keith ever mention over the coms that he's run into his fucking twin in the middle of space. Akira debriefs Keith on everything- including his own heritage- and they both mutually decide it would be bad if anyone found out about it. But how are they supposed to hide that there's two of them?
Well. Easy. They both pretend to be Keith. This is a great idea, and it will work perfectly. They're identical, especially after Akira cuts off his braid. No one will notice a thing.
(The funny thing is, no one knows Keith well enough to notice anything is amiss... except for Shiro, who definitely notices. He just doesn't have any reason to suspect that Keith ran into his identical twin in the middle of space.)

Keith gender headcannons
- first off Keith does not have a typical relationship with gender. In my mind he’s either AMAB or intersex(I can’t decide which). He’s also autistic and doesn’t see the point of gender rolls in the first place.
- growing up in rural Texas he was probably bombarded with expectations. I don’t think his dad really cared about that stuff(he literally fell in love with an alien) but the people at school and in the foster system were a different story.
- he’s fine with masculine terms and pronouns but doesn’t mind gender neutral ones either.
- after the war they give themselves so time to really think about their gender expression and decides his preferred pronouns are he/they. Everyone is very supportive and Pidge is ecstatic that they have a genderqueer bestie. They say they had a feeling Keith was gender fucky.
Just my silly little thoughts
