summary; Jeon Jungkook is an infamous hitman, known for his inability to fail at whatever job is thrown his way. At least, up until now. Y/n, a kind-hearted and full of life teacher, is his newest target. Jeon isn’t sure who would put a hit on this seemingly innocent girl, but fortunately, that isn’t his problem. All he has to do is pull the trigger.

A few days after the accident...
"What's wrong, Mina?"
"It's ____," Mina sobbed into the young man's shoulder as he pet her head gently, "She's in the hospital, someone hurt her."
Dae made a sound of sympathy as he continued to run his fingers through her hair, "She's alive though?"
"Yeah," Mina sniffled.
"Then you have nothing to worry about."
Mina hugged him tighter, "Sorry, for crying."
"No need to be sorry," Dae pulled back and smiled at her, "I know it must be scary."
"You'll help her, right? Her family left, she has no one but you and me," Mina said tearfully.
Dae's eyebrow twitched and a small smile appeared on his face, "Of course."
___________
"You...what?"
"Oh, don't act so surprised, Mina."
Mina's stomach plummeted to her feet and she resisted the urge to hurl.
"B-But, I thought you cared about her."
"Oh, I did. Very, very, much. I cared about her more than I cared about you," Dae watched Mina's face fall, a sick satisfaction soaring through him.
"...huh?"
"Oh yes, I asked her to be with me. But she refused."
Mina felt a stab of jealousy shoot through her.
"You know, she hurt me, deeply. That's why I did it."
Mina stayed quiet, so he continued, "You understand, don't you? She's just like that. You do everything for her and she pushes you aside. She kept giving me mixed signals, leading me on only to hurt me in the end."
Your best friend swallowed thickly.
"Sounds familiar, doesn't it?" He whispered, "You've always stood up for her and taken care of her, and yet she went after me just to mess with you. She knew you liked me, didn't she? Maybe you didn't tell her, but she knew, how could she not see it?"
Her teeth clenched as she listened to his words, like poison seeping into her veins.
"Of course, you were the one I had always been in love with, she just made that hard for me to see."
"Really?" Mina's voice quivered.
Dae nodded, a sad smile on his face, "With her out of the picture, I could have you all to myself without worrying about her ruining things for us."
Mina looked uncertain as she clenched her fists.
"I know you care about me, Mina."
"I do."
"Can you help me?"
Mina looked up at him, her heart melted in her chest at the look he gave her.
"Yes."
"I knew I could count on you."

Present Day...
"Mina messaged me."
Jungkook looks up at Tae from the strawberries he was cutting for your lunch, "What?"
"She messaged my work phone, obviously that's the only number she has."
It's been almost a week since Mina left, today is Friday and no one has heard anything from her.
Until now.
Jungkook sets down the knife.
"What did she say?"
"She said they agreed to call off the hit on one condition."
"And that is?"
"They want the money back from the first payment they gave you."
Jungkook narrows his eyes, "That's it? That's all they want?"
Tae shrugs, "That's what she said."
"I don't believe that, not for a fucking second."
"I don't either. What am I supposed to tell her?"
They both hear the toilet flush and the sink turn on.
"Just, tell her you'll get back to her later today. We can figure it out when I get back from taking ____ to work."
Tae nods, but when Jungkook turns to keep cutting the strawberries, he asks, "Would you actually give them the money back?"
Jungkook doesn't look at him as he cuts a little berry, "Yeah, why wouldn't I?"
"I mean, what about your mom's treatments?"
Jungkook swallows hard, "I'll figure something out."
The door to the bathroom opens and you come out, a tired look on your face as you walk over to Jungkook and Tae.
"Good morning, ____," Tae says with a smile.
"M-Morning, Tae!" You say brightly despite the exhaustion covering your face.
Jungkook turns and leans against the counter as he looks at you with a smile, "You look sleepy."
"I'm a-always sleepy," You say with a laugh.
Jungkook laughs lightly as you walk forward and give him a hug.
His cheeks burn at the intimate gesture in front of his best friend, but he wraps his arms around you anyway.
After a second, you pull away and look at the cutting board with strawberries on it, "Ohh, s-strawberries!"
"You can have one now if you want," Jungkook grabs one and hands it to you, "Here."
You take it happily and start munching away as Tae grumbles about how Jungkook didn't let him have any and how he's playing favorites. Jungkook grabs another strawberry and pops it into Tae's mouth as he's ranting.
The older boy chews it up, then turns and winks at you before heading over to the couch.
You smile at him and then turn back to Jungkook, "Thank y-you."
He nods with a smile sweeter than the strawberry you just ate.
"Are you all dressed for work?" Jungkook asks as he finishes up packing your lunch.
"Mhm," You reply, watching him closely.
Jungkook turns back to see your hair is a knotted mess.
"What about your hair, silly?"
You reach up and touch it, a little frown on your face, "I'm t-too tired."
Jungkook laughs, "Here, let me do it. Go get your hairbrush and hair ties."
You skip away to your suitcase and rummage around in it for a second before pulling out the things he needs to fix up your hair.
Jungkook sits on the couch next to Tae, then spreads his legs a bit and drops a pillow on the floor so you can sit between his legs.
You sit down on the pillow and get comfy, one of your arms draped over his thigh and your head resting on it as he brushes your hair.
Jungkook is gentle as he gets the tangles out, then he brushes it all back and pulls it into a ponytail, one much better than the one he did earlier this week.
"There you go, sweetpea," Jungkook whispers in your ear.
"Thank y-you," You say shyly as you stand up and go to get your shoes on.
"I'm taking her to work, I'll be back in a little bit," Jungkook says to Tae as he grabs the keys.
Tae nods, "I'll be here."
-
"I'm gr-grateful that you k-keep making my lunch," You whisper shyly as Jungkook drives to your work.
He smiles, "I'm glad you keep liking them, I enjoy making them."
Jungkook stops the car at a red light.
Something has been nagging at you this whole week, so you finally decide to ask him.
"J-Jungkook?"
"Mm?"
"W-When you first g-got me that night..."
"Yeah?" He looks at you.
"Um, y-your face l-looked like you h-had been in a fight."
"Oh."
"And s-so did Tae's."
Jungkook bites his lip, contemplating what to say.
"Yeah, Tae and I had a fight."
He's not going to lie anymore, he's in deep enough already when you find out what he's lied about.
Which is basically everything.
That realization makes him ill.
"About w-what?"
"You."
Fuck.
Your head snaps in his direction, a look of bewilderment on your face, "M-Me?"
He nods and you see him gulp, "I hadn't told him about you and he was angry."
"He-...He w-was mad about m-me and you b-beat each other up?" You ask in disbelief, making Jungkook cringe.
"Uh, yeah."
"I th-thought he l-liked me," You say quietly and look out the window.
"H-He does!" Jungkook says quickly, "He does now that he knows you."
"I d-don't understand b-boys," You whisper, a grumpy look on your face.
"What's wrong?" Jungkook asks.
"Boys are st-stupid," You say, crossing your arms.
Jungkook scoffs, "What makes you say that?"
"You both h-hurt your best friend over a m-m-misunderstanding."
Jungkook glances at you and he can tell it really affects you.
"You're right, boys are stupid. We shouldn't have resorted to physical fighting," Jungkook sighs, "It was stupid, but I guess we knocked some sense into each other."
You smile a little at his joke and he feels his heart warm at that.
You pull up to the school and Jungkook smiles at you as you jump out, "D-Don't get into an-anymore fights with Tae," You scold him gently.
Jungkook leans over and grabs your hand, then he links his pinky with yours, "Promise."
You give him a smile and shut the car door, then you skip to the stairs and climb them, running over to go inside the big school doors.
-
"Okay, what the fuck do we do?" Jungkook asks the second he comes into the apartment.
"We should try Namjoon again," Tae says, "He can figure out if it's legit."
"It isn't legit."
"Ok, well he can figure out something about it."
Jungkook pulls his phone out and calls Namjoon's number.
It rings a few times, Jungkook and Tae waiting with bated breath.
"Hey, what's up?"
Fuck yeah.
"Hyung, I'm so fucking glad you answered, you haven't answered all week."
"I know, it was a busy week, sorry JK. What did you need?"
"I need you to do a few things for me," Jungkook says, anxiously waiting to see if he'll be shut down.
"Name it and it's done."
Thank fuck.
"Ok, I need you to find an anonymous client for me-"
"Easy. What else?"
Jungkook and Tae look at each other.
"They say they'll call off the hit if I give them the money back-"
"Bullshit."
"That's what we think. We need to know their next move though."
"I'll do my best, JK. Give me a few days and I'll get back to you, okay?"
"Thank you, Hyung."
"Sure thing."
The line disconnects and Jungkook sighs, a huge weight lifted from his shoulders.
"That took fucking long enough," He growls, irritated at himself.
"At least we've got a start. Now, what are we going to do to buy time with Mina?"
Just then, they hear a bling come from Tae's work phone.
He pulls it out to see a message from said person:
You have until noon today to agree or not.
If the money isn't returned by noon on Monday, the deal is off.
I did the best I could.
Jungkook grits his teeth, "Tell her we'll do it and find out the details for where we leave the money."
Tae nods and gets to texting.
-
"And th-then we had a snack, and after that w-we pl-played and I made the highest to-tower in the block ch-challenge!"
Jungkook laughs at the way you jump up and down in your seat, your seat belt holding you down safely.
"I'm starting to wonder if you or the kids have more fun at school," Jungkook teases, making you laugh as your cheeks turn pink.
"The d-ducklings m-make it fun for me," You say shyly.
"I'm sure they feel the same way about you."
You shrug and look out the window, too embarrassed to respond. You don't know why you always get so shy when he talks good about you.
Jungkook smiles at you then turns to keep his eyes on the road.
"So, Tae was wondering if you wanted to go to dinner tonight."
You look at him in surprise, "Huh? D-Dinner?"
Jungkook nods, "Yeah, he wants to take us somewhere nice."
"Oh, th-that's really sweet," You nod, "I w-would love that."
Jungkook smiles, "He'll be happy about that."
"Is it a sp-special occasion?"
Jungkook shrugs, "I guess you can say that."
"W-What is it?"
Jungkook mumbles something and you're about to ask him to repeat himself, but he suddenly speaks up.
"We're home."
He hurries out of the car and you follow him inside and up to the door, jumping in surprise when the door swings open before Jungkook even has a chance to unlock it.
"Hey, guys!" A huge boxy smile greets the two of you.
"Hi Tae," Jungkook laughs at the young man's grin.
Taehyung beams at you as you wave hello, then he steps aside and opens the door wider so you two can come in.
"Jungkook t-told me you w-wanted to take us out to eat?" You say as you set your purse on the dining table and pet Yin when he runs up to you, Pumpkin close behind.
"Yeah! You up for it?"
You nod excitedly, "Definitely!"
Taehyung gets smiley again and nods to himself as he pets Pumpkin when she starts trying to climb up his leg.
"You guys need to be dressed nicely," Tae says.
Jungkook laughs, "And by that you mean?"
"Mm, think cocktail attire."
You look at Jungkook with wide eyes.
_______________________________
"Damn Tae, when you said somewhere nice I wasn't expecting it to be this nice," Jungkook muses as the three of you are led to a booth in the back, a huge curtain covering it just like every other sitting area in this place.
You stare in wide-eyed awe at the ceiling where a bunch of diamond chandeliers are hanging around the restaurant.
"You underestimate me," Tae winks at Jungkook as he climbs into the booth the waiter gestures to.
You smile shyly when Jungkook gestures for you to get into the booth before him.
He looks really handsome in his black dress pants, white button-down, and fancy black jacket.
He isn't wearing a tie and it makes the look even more attractive for some reason. His dark hair is swept back from his forehead. Ever since you saw him earlier, your heart has not been able to rest.
And then there's Tae.
Who ever said there's no such thing as two hot best friends?
Tae looks dashing as ever in his white button-down and matching dark green pants and vest. His black hair is slightly curled and pushed so that only a few strands fall into his eyes.
Tae smirks at you as you climb into the booth and scoot to the middle.
The booth is the shape of a half-circle, so you're sitting on the inside with Tae to your left and Jungkook on your right.
The waiter hands you each a menu and asks if there is anything he can get you to drink.
Tae asks for water all around and a bottle of some kind of wine that you don't catch the name of.
He looks to both of you to see if you want any other drinks.
You and Jungkook both shake your heads, you're fine with water and wine.
The waiter bows and walks away.
"By the way, you look beautiful ___."
You smile at Tae's words, "Th-Thank you, Tae."
You send Jungkook a happy grin at the compliment and he smiles softly at you.
He had helped you pick out a dress at the store earlier. You really wanted to go shopping for one and insisted he help you.
You couldn't for the life of you find one that just felt right.
Then Jungkook grabbed one off a rack and held it up to you, "How about this one?" He had said, "You look beautiful in white."
You tried it on and that was that.
It is now the prettiest dress you own.
It's all white, beautiful soft cotton, and it goes down to just above your knees. There are strings on the sides, tied up your waist, and the sleeves are floppy until they come to your wrists, where they are snug. You think the lady at the store had called them lantern sleeves. The shoulders hang off of you, making an elegant yet simple look.
Jungkook had almost had a damn heart attack the second you stepped out of the dressing room.
Back at his house, he had done your hair for you after watching a few videos. It was in a messy braid with hair falling out of the sides.
It looked gorgeous.
You looked gorgeous.
It's during the fourth course that Tae suddenly says why he brought you guys out tonight.
The first course was a bunch of delicious hors d'oeuvres, then the second was soup, the third an appetizer, the fourth is a salad, and you know the fifth will be the main, and the sixth; is dessert.
It came about quite randomly, Tae saying something about how he can't believe he and Jungkook have been best friends for twenty years exactly.
"W-Wait, this is the d-day you guys became friends?"
You look at Jungkook, who is picking at his salad, a blush on his cheeks.
Tae nods happily, "Uh-huh! It's the day I told you about when we met at the park for the first time. Jungkook was four and I was six."
Your heart melts, "Oh m-my gosh, that's so sweet. It's y-your bestfriendiversary!"
Tae nods, a smirk spreading on his face as he kicks Jungkook's shin under the table, "Kookie was the one to start the idea of celebrating every year."
Jungkook scoffs, "I did not."
"You definitely did. Remember the first year anniversary when you had your mom buy me that purple scarf so you could give it to me?"
Jungkook turns positively crimson as he clears his throat, "You're making it sound weird Tae."
Tae just giggles with you at Jungkook's embarrassment.
"You didn't h-have to bring m-me," You say after a little while, "It's y-your day to celebrate."
Tae waves a hand dismissively, "Why on earth wouldn't we bring you? You're part of the squad now, girlie."
That makes your heart feel warm.
"Besides, if you put it like that, it makes it sound like Kook and I are dating."
Jungkook rolls his eyes at Tae's smirk, "You'd like that, wouldn't you, Tae?"
You giggle at Tae's hearty laugh.
Jungkook's best friend winks at you.
________________________________
It's late by the time the three of you get home.
You and Jungkook thank Tae immensely for the delicious meal and he waves you off nonchalantly.
"Any time, babe."
You see Jungkook's mouth twist in annoyance at Tae's pet name for you, but you know Tae means nothing by it. He calls Jungkook babe all the time. In fact, you think he might call everyone babe.
It's just his thing.
Jungkook pulls off his shoes and flops onto the couch with a groan.
"I think I might be in a food coma."
You sit on the couch next to him and slip into his side, curling your legs up to cuddle into him as much as you can, "M-Me too."
"I'm going to take a shower," Tae announces before going into the bathroom.
You hear the shower turn on as Jungkook puts an arm around you and pulls you impossibly closer to him.
"You're not feeling sick, right?"
He knows you tend to get so excited about food that you eat too much, and your tummy hurts a lot afterward.
You shake your head with a smile, "No."
"Good."
You feel a kiss press against the crown of your head.
A few minutes pass in silence.
Then Jungkook hears your small voice.
"W-What happened to you and T-Tae?"
"What do you mean?"
"If y-you've been friends f-for so long, why is it s-so tense between you t-two?"
Jungkook sighs but doesn't say anything.
You think he isn't going to answer after a minute passes by.
"Sorry, I sh-shouldn't-"
"You were right."
"Huh?"
"You were right, months ago. When you guessed what the worst thing I've ever done is."
You think hard, trying to remember what you had said.
Oh.
Wait.
You had guessed that he pressured someone into something, and he said you were wrong.
"You-...It w-was Tae? Th-That you pressured?" You whisper.
You hear him swallow, then his voice comes out a bit weak, "Yeah."
"Oh."
You can tell Jungkook doesn't want to talk about it.
But he does anyway.
"I was in a bad situation when I was young. I was fourteen at the time and Tae was going to be sixteen in a few months."
You sit there quietly, letting him go at his own pace.
"I uh-" Jungkook swallows, "Yeah, I needed money and I did something stupid. Tae did what I couldn't, because I was weak. He paid for it after that. He's still paying for it, because of me."
"W-What do you mean?"
"He's not the same. He was never the same after that day. And it was all my fault," His voice breaks a little at the end of his sentence.
You wrap your arms around his waist and hug him tightly, "You w-were just a little b-boy."
Jungkook swallows thickly.
You look up at his solemn face, reaching a hand out to gently run your fingers down his cheek, "I'm s-sorry those l-little boys had to suffer so m-much."
You see his eyes glistening with unshed tears at your words.
He turns his head to look at you, a sad smile on his face as he blinks the tears away.
"How did I get so lucky?"
"Mm?" You make a sound of confusion.
"To have you," Jungkook answers your unspoken question, "I've never done anything to deserve you."
You smile and cuddle into his side even more, "I d-don't think anyone des-deserves anything, really."
"What do you mean by that?"
"I m-mean, some p-people that are wicked and horrid, get good th-things they don't deserve. And kind-hearted p-p-people that only live for others, ne-never get anything. I th-think maybe it doesn't h-have to do with de-deserving things. I think it's l-like this," You shift a little and Jungkook runs his hand up and down your arm comfortingly, listening intently, "Perhaps we g-get what w-we need to be our b-best selves. But along the way, s-some people t-take, they aren't g-given it."
"And what do you need, ____?"
"I n-need you," You whisper.
Jungkook feels his heart leap to his throat.
You feel his hand gently hold the back of your head as he pulls you into his chest, "I need you too, ____."
You two stay there for a while until Tae comes out of the shower and whines that you're using his sleeping space and that he will lay across your laps in a moment if you don't move.
You move to the bed as Jungkook goes to take a shower.
-
"Are you in love with him?"
You startle at Tae's sudden question, your head flipping to the side to see if the door to the bathroom is closed.
It is, and the shower is still running.
"W-What?"
You look down at Tae as he sits up on an elbow.
"Come 'ere," He mumbles.
You crawl to the bottom of the bed and lay on your stomach, your chin in your hands as Tae leans closer off the couch.
"Are you in love with him?" He asks again, quieter this time.
You gulp, then you slowly nod your head, your cheeks aflame.
Tae's boxy smile makes an appearance at your answer.
"Is he-"
You see Tae watching you expectantly, so you finish your question, "Is h-he in love with m-me?"
Tae stares into your eyes for a moment, then he whispers, "I think maybe you should ask him that."
You nod.
Good point.
-
Jungkook comes out of the bathroom to see you laying on your stomach at the foot of the bed, your top half practically hanging off the bed and your legs kicking behind you as you giggle with Tae. Pumpkin is lying beside you, and Yin is stretched out across the back of your thighs, dead asleep. Jungkook's sight travels up your body.
Your nightgown has ridden up to just below your bottom.
The second he notices this, he jerks his gaze away, quick as a dart.
His cheeks burn as he makes his way over to you and Tae, the two of you whispering like a couple of schoolgirls during a sleepover as they talk about some cute guy in school.
What were you talking about anyway?
When Jungkook gets close enough to hear, Tae spots him and immediately shuts his trap.
You see Tae's reaction and turn your head to see Jungkook looking at the two of you curiously. You don't even have a moment to wonder if he heard what you were saying, you're too busy being entranced by his natural beauty.
His dark wet hair is falling into his eyes, a few droplets of water are still clinging to his neck, and his floppy white t-shirt is hanging a bit off his shoulders.
Your throat and mouth are suddenly very dry.
"What were you two gossiping about?" Jungkook asks accusingly, sounding like a sulky kid that was left out of a special secret.
"Nothing," Tae says suspiciously, sending you a quick smile before turning his back on the two of you and cuddling under the covers, ready to sleep on his make-shift bed.
That leaves you to deal with Jungkook's accusatory gaze on your own.
"Uh, n-nothing?" You try, your voice small.
Jungkook frowns.
You sit up, Yin making a mew of indignation at being tossed from his cozy spot on your squishy thighs.
"R-Really, you wo-wouldn't be interested."
"Try me."
You crawl up to your place and slip under the covers, pulling them up to your chin, "R-Really."
Jungkook huffs an annoyed breath and walks over to turn the light out.
A moment later, you feel the bed dip as he gets into the right side.
You hold your breath, hoping he'll hold you like he did the first night you were here. He hasn't since, but you think it's just because he's embarrassed about Tae being here.
A few minutes pass by and you don't feel him come any closer to you.
You pout to yourself.
Is he mad at you?
Surely he knows that you and Tae weren't doing anything unreasonable?
Honestly, Tae had asked you to tell him about the two of you and what you saw in Jungkook. You told him about the past months and he shared some silly childhood stories about Jungkook in return. Tae even got you to tell him about your first kiss with Jungkook. He squealed in excitement for you, much to your surprise.
You guess Jungkook really doesn't tell him much.
It makes you sad for Tae. He just wants to be involved in his best friend's life.
And you didn't want to tell Jungkook that you were talking about how cute he is.
That would be humiliating.
For everyone involved.
Well, except for Taehyung.
He would find it hilarious.
You know that's why he didn't say anything to Kook.
It was for your sake.
You let out a little sigh.
You're facing Jungkook in the dark, on your right side. You can't tell if he's facing you though, there isn't enough light to see.
Then you hear him whisper, "Why are you still awake?"
"I c-can't sleep when you're m-mad at me," You whisper back.
You hear him sigh.
"I'm not mad at you."
"At T-Tae?"
"No."
"Who are y-you mad at?"
"Myself."
You frown.
"W-Why?"
"Don't worry about it. Go to sleep, ____, you've had a long day."
A few minutes pass with no sound save for the soft breathing in the dark room.
"I c-can't sleep," You suddenly whisper again.
You hear Jungkook shift a little, "Why not?" He asks, and you can hear the grogginess in his voice. He must be half-asleep.
"I'm lonely," You whisper.
Jungkook rubs his eyes before opening them and seeing you looking at your fingers. The light of the moon is helping his eyes to adjust now.
He smiles tiredly, "Come here," He mumbles.
A smile spreads on your face and you scoot until you feel his arm wrap around you and he pulls you into his chest.
"Better?" He asks quietly.
"Mhm," You squeak.
Jungkook buries his nose into your hair as he cards his fingers through it, "Go to sleep."
You drift off not too long after he whispers those words to you.

"Joon hyung called me."
Jungkook looks up from the video on his phone, "What? Why didn't he call me?"
Tae shrugs, "I don't know, he said he tried but you weren't answering."
What the hell? He's had his phone all morning and it hasn't gone off once.
Jungkook glances at the front door.
You had gone with Sana to the store for something, you wouldn't say what though.
But Tae seemed to think he knew what was up.
"Well, what did he say? Should I call him?"
"Nah, he's busy the rest of the day, won't answer anyway. But he told me to tell you that we should give them the money and then see what happens. Because he's done everything, but it seems legit. They won't even hire another hitman when he tried to tell them he had someone for them and he heard they needed someone."
"What the hell?"
"Yeah, they said they no longer needed a hit done."
"So you think Mina was telling the truth?"
Tae shrugs, "I don't trust her as far as I could throw her, but Namjoon seems to think that they're being serious. He said to still be careful though, it could be a trap."
"Huh..." Jungkook sits there for a minute.
"So, we're giving them the money tomorrow?" Tae asks, looking at Jungkook closely.
Jungkook nods, "That's the plan."
"You think that's all they cared about?"
"No, but we don't really have a choice right now...Did hyung not say who it was?"
Tae shakes his head, "No, he said he spoke to the guy's middle man. But that he is still trying to figure it out. Said it shouldn't take more than a week."
Jungkook takes a few deep breaths.
He's hoping beyond all hope that everything settles down.
Of course, that's only a fool's hope.
__________________________
"I'm b-back~"
Jungkook smiles as you and Sana come through the front door.
"Hey, how was the store?"
"Good!" You say happily, holding something behind your back.
Jungkook looks at you suspiciously, "What're you hiding?" He asks playfully.
"N-Nothing~"
Sana laughs and shakes her finger at Jungkook, "You'll do well not to spoil the surprise, boy."
He laughs along and nods, "Ok, fine, I won't ask. When do I get to see it though?"
"Mmm, Wednesday!" You say.
"Very specific," Jungkook chuckles.
Then Tae comes out of the bathroom and you and Sana burst into laughter.
Taehyung scowls and points at Jungkook, "He did it to me. He's been watching videos all day I tell you, insisted I help him practice."
Tae's beautiful locks are in tiny ponytails and braids around his head.
Sana wipes her mirthful tears away, "What on earth are you practicing for?"
Jungkook is about to answer when Tae points right at you.
"He wants to do her hair for her every day-"
"Tae, shut up-" Jungkook snaps.
"-because he's a simp-"
Jungkook flinches at Tae and the young man shuts up, but there's still a glint of mischief in his eyes.
Sana and you watch the exchange with contained giggles.
Your heart is melting in your chest at Tae's words.
Jungkook wants to do your hair for you?
It seemed like he enjoyed himself the few times he's done it, but you didn't know he liked it that much.
You catch Jungkook's eye and smile at him and he smiles back sheepishly.
Tae just takes the hair ties out as he smirks, always the one to rile Jungkook up.
"Well, I'm gonna get back to Hobi, have fun, you guys!"
You all call goodbye to Sana as she heads out.
"So, you gonna let me see?" Tae asks the second the door shuts.
Jungkook scoffs, "She wouldn't let me see, what makes you think she'll let you?"
Tae sneers at him, "Because we're best friends now, dumbass."
You shake your finger at the oldest, "Don't y-you be mean, s-say sorry."
Tae grumbles under his breath for a second, then he reluctantly mutters, "Sorry."
Jungkook looks smug as he regards Tae.
You then take a turn shaking a finger at Jungkook, "And d-don't you be smug! He a-apologized. Y-You've done pl-plenty to him every day to ask h-his forgiveness too."
Jungkook's smile wipes away and he looks down.
"Sorry, Tae. I forgive you."
"It's alright," Tae says as he runs his hands through his hair, trying to fix it up.
You smile at the two of them; they're like a couple of toddlers, always bickering.
That's when there's a ringing sound and you see Jungkook stiffen.
He pulls a phone out of his pocket, but it isn't his regular phone.
He looks at it for a second, then he excuses himself before walking out into the hall.
You look after him worriedly.
"He's alright," Tae says, his eyes watching your expression carefully.
You nod absentmindedly.
"So, are you gonna show me?"
You drag your eyes from the door and over to Tae's excited expression.
"Oh! Y-Yeah!" You take your hand out from behind your back to reveal a little bag.
Tae comes over and peers inside to see purple, blue, yellow, and black string things, and a little box.
"Ohhh yessss, so you are going with the bracelet idea?"
You nod happily.
"But what are the purple and blue for?" Tae asks.
"Oh, th-those are for something e-else," You close the bag quickly.
"Oh. Well, can I help you?"
"Of c-course!" You beam.
_________________
When Jungkook comes back in, he again sees you and Tae huddled together and whispering, just like the other night, but this time you're on the other side of the bed, so he can only see the top of Tae's head.
He walks over to see you both looking into a bag.
"So you did show him."
You and Tae flinch and look up guiltily.
"Oh come on JK, can't you take a hint?" Tae asks in exasperation at Jungkook's hurt look.
Jungkook shakes his head.
Taehyung rolls his eyes at his best friend, "Clearly."
"It's a s-s-surprise for you," You say quietly, the last thing you want is for him to feel left out and hurt, that was never the intention.
"Oh," Jungkook looks down in embarrassment, "Sorry, I-"
"You don't have to be sorry," Tae says as he stands up, "We get it. We should've been more careful about being sure you wouldn't walk in on us talking about it."
It's quiet for a minute, then you ask, "Is e-everything okay?"
Jungkook realizes you're referring to the phone call, "Oh, yeah. Just something with work."
"Ok."
Tae watches almost painfully as you look at Jungkook with heart eyes even as he avoids your gaze.
Damn it, Jungkook.
Just tell her already.
The last thing Tae wants is for Jungkook to lose you.
It would break the boy beyond repair.
"Jungkook, can I speak to you for a second please?"
Jungkook nods and follows Tae out into the hall.
As soon as the door shuts, Tae whirls on him.
"If you don't do it, then I fucking will. And believe me, kid, it's gonna hurt a hell of a lot more coming from me."
"Why do you care so much?" Jungkook asks, exasperated.
"Because as much as you like to think it's a lie, I care about you Jungkook. If you don't fix this now, there's going to be nothing left to fix."
"Ok, I'll tell her-"
Tae gestures to the door.
"-after we deliver the money."
Taehyung takes a deep breath in through his nose and blows it out through his mouth slowly.
"What?" Jungkook asks.
"You enrage me."
"Good," Jungkook moves past Tae to reach for the door, but he stops when he feels a hand on his arm.
"What was the phone call?"
"A hit."
"Are you going to do it?"
"Yes."
"I thought you said-"
Jungkook turns to him, anger flashing in his eyes, "I know what I said. But if I'm returning that money tomorrow, I have barely anything left for her next treatment."
"Jungkook..."
"What?" He snaps.
"I know. I understand, believe me. But maybe we can find another way? I don't think your mom would be happy about this-"
"I never thought she would be," Jungkook seethes, "I never wanted this. But it's my life now, whether or not you or I or ____ likes it."
Tae looks at him in surprise, "You-..."
They stare at each other for a second.
"You wouldn't even stop for ____?"
Jungkook doesn't break his gaze as he says, unflinching, "Why would I let my mother die for anyone?"
"Jungkook-"
Tae gets cut off at the sound of the door slamming shut in his face.
_________________________
A little later, Jungkook is gone, saying that he needed to run a quick errand.
So you and Tae are alone in the apartment.
You decide to play a board game together, and Tae ends up winning twice, you once.
Tae is just laughing in your face at his second victory when there's a knock on the door.
You're closer, so you get up to answer it.
Looking through the peephole, you see a tall handsome man with dark hair and wide shoulders; he looks kind of familiar.
Then it hits you.
Ah, it's the guy that you met at Hobi's when you went there for dinner a while ago!
You open the door and his eyes widen in surprise when he sees you.
"Oh, hi."
"Hi," You beam.
"I don't know if you remember me, I'm Seokjin," He holds a hand out.
You take it, "I d-do! I'm ____."
"Ah yes, it's coming back to me now."
Tae comes up behind you and Seokjin glances at him.
"Were you looking for Jungkook?" The young man behind you asks, his presence strong and a good sense of security.
"Yes, is he home?"
"Afraid not," Tae says, "You just missed him."
"Oh, well darn. I wanted to ask him over for dinner sometime since we had talked about it before."
"Oh, w-well we'll l-let him know," You say with a kind smile.
"I appreciate that," Seokjin hands you a card, "Here's my number."
"P-Perfect."
"Well, have a good day ____," Then he looks at Tae and nods to him, "Taehyung."
Then he's gone.
You shut the door.
"How did he know my name?" Tae asks suspiciously.
"M-Maybe he has a g-good memory."
"Huh."
You both brush off the incident and go back to your games.
___________________________
"W-Where are you going?" You ask timidly.
It's later that night and Jungkook is getting his shoes on when he would usually be taking a shower or brushing his teeth before bed.
"I just have something I need to do."
You look over at Tae from where you sit curled up in bed, your book in your hands.
Tae is sitting on the couch, stone-faced as he stares at his phone.
"Is everyth-thing-"
"It's fine."
Jungkook straightens up and sends you a small smile before grabbing his keys, wallet, phone, and black face mask.
Then he's gone.
It's dead silent for a good three minutes.
Then you find your voice, "W-What's going on with h-him?"
Tae turns his screen off and sighs, "He's just being hormonal, don't worry about it."
You close your book, "Is h-he going to be home to-tonight?"
Tae nods, "Yeah, he should be, just not until late. Don't wait up for him."
You sigh and cuddle down into the covers as the two cats climb onto you to get comfy.
_______________________
Jungkook swallows, staring at the corpse of the middle-aged man he just shot in the head, killing him instantly.
He swiftly takes out his work phone, snaps a pic, then sends it to the number that called him earlier.
A few minutes later, the number calls him.
Jungkook answers it and the man speaks immediately, "I appreciate you getting this done so quickly. My men will take care of the body."
"Can I ask you a question?"
"Hm?"
"Why didn't you just have your men kill him?"
It's quiet for a second.
"Do you not want the money?"
"I do."
"Then go to the post office next to that small coffee shop, you know the one?"
"Yes."
"There's a row of potted plants. The key to P.O. box 23 is in the third pot. After you get it, put the key back."
Jungkook sighs, then he hangs up.
He doesn't even glance back at the dead body as he makes his way out and to his car.
The drive to the post office is about half an hour since he needs to get back into town.
______________
Jungkook looks around before digging into the third pot and almost instantly finding the key. He walks inside the dark building, squinting when the automatic lights turn on at his presence.
He finds box 23 and opens it to find a manila envelope that looks a bit bunchy.
Jungkook grabs it and locks the box up again.
After leaving the key where it was, Jungkook goes back to his car and locks the doors the second he gets in.
He has enough strength to wait until he's in his parking lot before opening it up and counting the money.
Thank god.
There's just enough to cover her next treatment even without the money he'll be returning tomorrow.
Jungkook leans his head on the seat, his eyes closed as he breathes deeply.
"Fuck."
How has everything become so messed up?
____________________________
Your eyes squint open at the sound of the door unlocking and creaking open.
Jungkook steps in, his black cap now in his hand and his hair all mussed up as if he'd been running his fingers through it repeatedly. The few top buttons of his white button-down are undone.
Your brows furrow in confusion when you see something red on the front of his white shirt.
It looks almost like he opened a ketchup packet and it squirt on the front of his clean clothes.
When he lifts his head and looks towards the bed, you close your eyes, hoping he thinks that you're just asleep.
It must have worked because you hear his gentle footfalls, then the bathroom door shuts softly.
You look over at the couch to see Tae sleeping peacefully, one arm clutching a couch pillow and the other hanging off the side of the couch.
Then you look at the digital clock on Jungkook's nightstand.
3:07
It's already three in the morning?
What was he doing out so late at night?
The sink in the bathroom turns off and you quickly close your eyes again and even out your breathing.
The door opens almost silently, and you hear Jungkook walk out.
A moment later, you feel a soft kiss on your forehead and his fingers brushing the hair from your eyes.
"I'm sorry, ____."
He whispers it so softly you almost don't catch it.
But you do.
You fight the urge to open your eyes and ask him what he's talking about.
Why is he sorry? What did he do?
Jungkook walks around the bed and you feel it dip when he gets in on his side.
He doesn't touch you, he doesn't get any closer at all.
Your heart stutters in your chest when thoughts start swarming.
Was he...
No, Tae said he would never.
You know he would never be playing you and seeing someone else while leading you on.
Your mind flashes back to when he came in the door, his shirt unbuttoned at the top and his hair messed up.
You swallow thickly.
"I'm sorry, ____."
What did you do, Jungkook?
_________________________
"I'll see you later."
You give Jungkook a half-hearted smile at his words and get out of the car, slipping your bag over your shoulder.
You shut the car door without a word, stand there for a second, then you walk up the steps and into the school, not looking back once.
Jungkook watches you worriedly.
You had been practically silent the entire morning, and he thought perhaps you were just sleepy.
But you didn't eat breakfast, you didn't beam at him when he gave you your lunch, and you refused his offer to do your hair.
Now you leave without saying goodbye and not turning back to wave even once?
Something's wrong.
But he can't imagine what it might be.
You seemed fine last night before bed.
Are you on your period?
No, you told him what your regular days were and it's still another two weeks until it should start.
But, you did say it could change sometimes...
Jungkook sees the school door shut behind you and it feels almost like your heart closing him off right along with it.
_____________________________
"What happened?"
Jungkook sighs.
He knew Tae would interrogate him the second they were alone.
"I don't know."
"The fuck you mean you don't know? You did something."
"Why me? Did you do something to piss her off?"
"See, that's your problem."
"What?" Jungkook growls.
"She isn't pissed off, she's hurt. You're such a fucking dumbass. Do you know literally nothing?"
Jungkook frowns, realizing Tae is right.
Shit, what's wrong with him?
"Look, you're right."
...
"I am?"
"Yeah, but that doesn't mean you can rub it in my face. You're right about this, doesn't mean you're right about everything."
"So what are you going to do to fix it?"
"I don't know, I don't even know what I did to hurt her!"
Tae looks at Jungkook's hopeless expression and finds it in himself to take pity on the boy.
"Ok, let's go over it. When did you last speak to her?"
"Before I left last night. Do you think she was mad that I left?"
Tae shakes his head, "No, she wasn't upset when you left, just a bit worried. She wasn't like this though."
Jungkook nods, thinking hard.
"And...what happened this morning?"
"Nothing that I know of. I woke up to her alarm and got up to make breakfast while she was in the bathroom. When she came out, she said she wasn't hungry and was acting weird."
"Hm."
Jungkook pushes his fists into his closed eyes, groaning.
"I'll have to see if we can talk after she gets off. For now, we need to worry about delivering that money."
"Are you going to do it?"
Jungkook nods.
Tae hands him the phone with the texts from Mina saying where the building is that he needs to meet her at.
"Did she ever say who was going to be there to collect the money?"
"Didn't say if there would be anyone but her, but I'm sure she'll have some goons hiding out in case you decide to jump her."
Jungkook nods.
"I'm going with you by the way."
_____________________________
It's almost noon when Mina steps out from around a corner of the huge dilapidated hall of the abandoned building she told him to meet her at.
Jungkook is staring at her, hatred seeping off of him in what feels almost like tangible waves.
"I wasn't sure if you'd actually come," Mina says, refusing to flinch at the look he's giving her.
"Why wouldn't I?"
"Because you aren't stupid."
Jungkook keeps his gaze level with hers.
"Neither are you. Where are your men?"
"It's just me."
A twisted smirk spreads on Jungkook's face.
"I thought we just agreed neither of us is stupid."
"We did. And I don't plan on telling unless you plan on telling me where your little boyfriend is hiding."
"I'm afraid I don't know what you're talking about."
"Sure you don't. Where's the money, Jungkook?"
"Selling your best friend for this measly amount of money?" Jungkook lifts up two envelopes bursting at the seams, "You're a keeper."
Mina scowls at him.
"I told you, it wasn't me that set the hit-"
"Does it look like I give a single fuck?" Jungkook throws the money at her feet.
She doesn't bend to grab it.
Not yet.
"You can count it, it's all there."
"I will- later. He knows where you are if it's short a single bill."
"I'm sure he does."
They stare at each other for a moment.
"Are you going to tell ____?" Mina suddenly asks.
"Tell me," Jungkook doesn't look away, "What did he promise you for her blood?"
Mina bites her lip.
"I-..."
Jungkook scoffs at her loss for words, "Cat got your tongue?"
It's dead silent.
"I know who your boss is," Jungkook says, watching her reaction.
Her eyes fly up to his.
"I don't know his name. But I figured it out."
She bites the inside of her cheek, keeping quiet.
"You know, I understand hating someone because they wronged you. But what did she ever do to you? Enlighten me. Because right now I'm trying to figure out why someone would conspire with the man that raped her best friend then tried to kill her."
It's like someone just punched Mina in the stomach the way the air is knocked from her lungs.
Her eyes instantly water as she looks at Jungkook.
"W-What?"
He looks at her, emotionless.
"He-...he what?"
"He raped her. He took her innocence and then tried to take her life."
"But-...but he never said-"
Jungkook laughs bitterly.
"Oh, he never said he raped her? I guess it can't be true then. Enjoy your money, you waste of fucking space."
Jungkook turns on his heel and walks away, the sound of his shoes hitting the cement floors are the only thing Mina hears as her entire world comes crashing down around her and she falls to her knees.
_____________________________
"Did I do something, ____?"
You sigh quietly.
It was inevitable.
You knew he was going to ask you what was going on with you.
You shake your head, "No, I j-just don't feel g-good."
"What's wrong?"
You look out the window at the trees blurring by.
"I feel k-kind of sick."
Not a lie, just not the whole truth.
"Oh. Is there something I can do to help you?"
You shake your head.
Jungkook stops at a red light and you feel him touch your forehead with his hand, feeling to see if you're hot.
The gesture makes you think of last night and a wave of nausea goes through you.
Without thinking, you jerk away.
Jungkook pulls his hand back and frowns, looking a bit hurt.
"You feel kind of warm," He says quietly.
"I'm f-fine."
Jungkook turns back to the road as the light turns green.
The rest of the ride home is silent.
"I w-want to go home," You say, quietly.
"We are, we'll be there in less than five minutes-"
"No. M-My home."
Jungkook looks at you for a second before looking back at the road, "Why? I thought-"
"I j-just wanna go h-home."
"Ok...uh, I can pack some stuff-"
"I'll c-call Jimin. He c-can stay with me."
Jungkook feels a punch to the gut at your words.
"Ok."
__________________________
"Is everything okay, ____?"
You fight the tears trying to escape, "F-Fine, can you pl-please just stay at m-my place for a bit?"
"Of course. I just want to make sure you're alright. Nothing happened with Jungkook? You don't need me to go kung fu on his ass?"
You laugh tearfully, "N-Not yet, b-but I'll let y-you know."
Jimin agrees to pick you up in fifteen minutes so you can get all your stuff together.
It's the most awkward fifteen minutes of your life as you pack everything of yours and Pumpkin's. You spend the rest of the time petting Yin as you wait for Jimin.
Tae and Jungkook don't say anything either, but you can tell they want to.
Especially Tae.
He looks kind of like a ticking time bomb; glaring at Jungkook every once in a while, when he passes by.
Jungkook just looks kind of lost and hurt, like a kicked puppy.
It makes your heart hurt.
But you just don't want to be here right now, it makes you physically ill to even think about staying here another day.
Finally, Jimin texts you that he's here.
Tae and Jungkook help you carry everything downstairs and put it into Jimin's trunk.
You climb into the front seat after saying quiet goodbyes to both of them.
The second Jimin shuts his door and puts the car in gear, pulling out carefully, he speaks up.
"Something happened."
You're about to protest but he shakes his head.
"Don't lie to me. You can keep it to yourself, that's fine. But don't tell me everything is fine when it clearly isn't."
You open your mouth, then close it again, then open it again only to burst into tears.
Jimin says nothing, he just lets you cry.
You end up rambling about everything that happened and what happened last night and how it seemed a lot like he had hooked up with someone.
Jimin listens quietly the whole ride home, only making sounds of acknowledgment every once in a while.
By the time you're done with the recap, Jimin is pulling into your parking lot.
He parks the car and turns to you, "Let's get this stuff upstairs and talk up there."
You nod tearfully.
Jimin gets most of it, and you help as you can.
When you're finally inside, with Pumpkin and all your stuff, Jimin has you sit on the couch.
"What you said sounds bad, I'm not gonna lie. It sounds a lot like what you feared."
Your lip quivers.
"But that doesn't mean it's what happened. How many times has it seemed like one thing and turned out to be something completely different?"
He has a point.
"You are never, ever going to know the truth until you ask him. I know it's easier to run away and hide, believe me, I know. But it'll never stop haunting you until you call him out and find out the truth."
You nod, "I g-guess you're right."
"Of course I'm right," Jimin winks at you.
You laugh and wipe your tears, "I sh-should text J-Jungkook, shouldn't I?"
"I think that would probably be the best idea."
"I'm j-just so scared."
"Why are you scared?"
"B-Because I've never felt this w-way before."
Jimin smiles as you mess with your fingers, "I th-think I'm in love with him."
"You think?"
You swallow thickly, "I am."
"I think he's in love with you too, ____."
You blush profusely at his words.
"W-Will you st-still stay with me?"
"We'll see. If Jungkook explains everything and all is well, I think he would like to be here with you. If things don't go as planned, you won't be able to get rid of me."
You smile gratefully at him as you pull out your phone and text Jungkook, asking him if he could come and talk at your place.
His reply comes almost instantly as if he was sitting with your chat open, waiting for you to message.
Jungkook: I'll be there in ten minutes
You sigh and try to pull yourself together.
Jimin is your wingman as he cleans up your face and fans you with a magazine, keeping you calm.
A few minutes before Jungkook gets here, Mina texts you.
You look at it in surprise.
Mina: hey, can we please talk
You reply that you would like that, and ask if you can meet tomorrow.
Mina agrees and says she'll meet you at your apartment.
There's a knock on the door a few minutes later and Jimin keeps telling you to pull it together because you a bad bitch no matter what happens.
You repeat it to yourself as you go to open the door.
Jungkook is standing there, a hesitant smile on his face.
You let him in and Jimin says he's going to go out for a bit and to let him know when he's needed again.
The door shuts behind him and you're alone with Jungkook.
You swallow the lump in your throat and gesture at the couch.
He sits down and watches as you cross the room to sit on the far end of the couch, away from him.
It hurts, but he says nothing.
"L-Last night," You say suddenly.
You don't want to beat around the bush anymore.
You're tired.
Tired of misunderstandings, of no communication, of lies.
Jungkook looks at you expectantly, listening intently.
"I w-was awake when you c-came home."
You see Jungkook's face blanch a little, but he doesn't flinch.
"Y-You looked a l-little roughed up, a-and-...and you sa-said you were sorry."
Jungkook nods slowly.
You sigh and pull it together.
Jimin says you're a bad bitch no matter what.
"D-Did you sleep w-with someone la-last night?"
Please say no.
Please say no.
I'm not a bad bitch, I'll break if you say yes.
Please say no.
Please say no.
"No."
Oh, thank heavens.
Jungkook can see the relief flood through you as you slump into the couch.
"I know it looked bad," Jungkook says sadly, "But please believe me when I say I would never do that to you."
You nod.
"I promise I'll tell you what happened, just- just give me a few days, yeah?"
You nod again, it's only fair to let him prepare himself.
"Just know that it has nothing to do with you or us or another girl. That will never happen, I promise."
"Ok," You say in a small voice.
"Ok," Jungkook smiles at you, "Do you feel better?"
"Mhm."
"Will you sit next to me?" Jungkook asks with a small smile.
You finally break into a smile as you crawl across the couch to sit next to him.
"Thank you for telling me how you were feeling," Jungkook whispers into your hair as he pulls you close.
"I'm t-tired Jungkook."
"Did you not sleep last night?"
"I just- I'm tired of us n-n-not communicating."
Jungkook tries to stay as calm internally as he is externally.
"Me too."
"I'll w-wait for you, J-Jungkook, as long as it t-takes."
Fuck.
It's silent for a bit as you two both process things in your minds.
Then you speak up again, "Oh, M-Mina is coming to t-talk tomorrow."
"She is?"
"Mhm, I w-wanted to tell you s-so you know I'm n-not keeping any more se-secrets."
"Oh..."
Fuck.
"Well, thank you. Do you think it's a good idea?"
"I'm o-okay, besides, y-you'll be here with me."
Jungkook pulls away to look at you, "You want me to stay?"
You look up at him with big puppy eyes, "I d-do if you want to."
"I'll ask Tae to bring some of my stuff," Jungkook says with a chuckle.
"B-But how? Y-You have the car."
"Oh, no I actually brought my motorcycle."
You sit up, your hands on his chest as you look at him in bewilderment, "Y-You weren't lying a-about the motorcycle??"
Jungkook laughs, his chest moving under your hands, "No, of course not. You thought I made that up?"
You nod, your eyes huge.
Jungkook pulls you into his chest with a laugh, "You're too cute."
You smile and cuddle into him.
You can't wait to make the bracelet and give it to him later this week when you confess that you love him.
_________________________
"Here's your stuff, your highness."
You laugh at Tae's irked expression as he hands Jungkook a black backpack.
"Thanks."
"So you two made up?" Tae asks, looking between the two of you.
You nod, "It w-was just a misunderst-standing."
Tae smiles, "I'm glad."
When Jungkook turns to put his stuff down, Tae raises his brows at you in question.
You nod happily.
The plan is still on.
He winks at you right before Jungkook turns back, "Do you wanna come inside?" He asks with a laugh.
Tae comes in with a sheepish grin.
Jimin ends up coming back later and the four of you have dinner together, hanging out until the late hours of the night.
_______________________
"Y-You're gonna sl-sleep on the couch?" You ask with a frown when you see Jungkook getting ready to sleep in the living room.
"Oh," Jungkook looks back at you, "I thought maybe it would be best. For now."
"Oh, uh- ok."
________________________
The next day you wake up in your bed, groggy and disoriented.
Then you remember that Jungkook is here.
You stumble out of bed and out into the living room to see Jungkook sitting on the couch, scrolling on his phone, his hair a bit messed up from his sleep.
It makes your heart melt.
"G-Good morning, Kook."
Jungkook turns to see you standing there cutely, in nothing but a giant t-shirt that goes down to your knees.
Your eyes are sleepy and your hair is a tangle of knots.
"Good morning," He says softly and you can see the fondness in his eyes.
Jungkook stands up and walks over to you, reaching a hand out to gently push your hair out of your face.
Your heart leaps in your chest when he runs his fingers down your cheek, then cups it sweetly.
"Did you sleep well?" He asks quietly.
"Mhm," You smile at him and he feels an aching tug in his chest.
Tell her, you idiot.
"Are y-you hungry?" You ask, looking at him with the biggest heart eyes he's ever seen.
He nods, "Should we make some breakfast?"
-
After breakfast, you get dressed for work and come back out to the living room.
Jungkook laughs lightly when he sees your bird nest hair.
"Come here."
You walk over to him, standing between his legs where he is sitting on the couch.
"Can you get me a hairbrush and some hair ties?"
You nod and go to find them while Jungkook looks up a video he saw the other day.
When you come back, Jungkook places a pillow on the ground between his spread legs, just like the other day. You sit on it and cuddle up to his thigh while he brushes your hair gently.
Once he's finally gotten all the tangles out, he puts your hair into two messy half space buns, so that the rest of your hair falls free.
It's so cute.
"Do you have any hair accessories?"
You nod and you're about to get up when he puts a gentle hand on your shoulder to keep you where you are, "I'll get them, where are they?"
"In m-my bathroom, w-white container, third drawer fr-from the top."
Jungkook hurries to the back and easily finds what he was looking for.
There are lots of things to pick from, but he decides to go with two little pink bows.
He comes back out and kneels in front of you, carefully clipping a bow onto the front of each bun.
He sits back to look at his work with satisfaction.
You're so cute it really might actually stop his heart.
"I think I'm getting better," He muses as he moves a tiny hair that was out of place.
Your beaming smile does no good to his already frantic heart.
_______________________
During your break, while the kids are out at lunch and recess, you make the bracelets.
They're simple; braided yellow and black thread.
But they are just what you had hoped for.
You place the larger bracelet into the little box you got the other day, then you wrap it with a ribbon.
You're so excited you can hardly contain it.
Jungkook is gonna be so happy!
You're sure he feels the same way.
After tomorrow, you can officially date because neither of you will be too shy to actually admit it even though you're practically dating already.
You jump up and down in your seat, unable to contain the excitement.
After all those months, you're finally gonna get to say the three little words that mean so much, and hopefully, hear them back.

"Thank you...for meeting with me."
You look at Mina with a gentle smile, making her heart hurt more than she ever thought it could.
"I d-don't know what's wrong, b-but I hope you know I l-love you."
Mina's heart breaks a little more with each word coming from your mouth.
"I don't deserve it."
"M-Mina-"
She looks up at you, finally looking into your eyes, "It's true. I've been the worst best friend to ever exist, and I hope that someday you can forgive me."
"M-Mina, of course, I-"
"No, just-...you don't have to forgive me now, I actually wish you wouldn't. You don't even know everything."
"Y-You mean about tr-trying to keep Jungkook from me?"
Mina swallows thickly, "And other things."
Your tummy feels weird.
"W-What other things?"
She shifts uncomfortably on the couch.
"____, I-"
Just then the front door opens and Jungkook walks through with a few bags.
He freezes when he sees the two of you on the couch.
"Oh...sorry-"
"D-Don't worry, come in."
You giggle as he slowly shuts the door and places the extra key you gave him on the counter along with the bags.
"You c-can keep it," You call to him, "P-Put it on your keyr-ring, it's not like I n-need it."
Jungkook nods and puts the key on his own keyring, his eyes watching Mina warily.
"Jungkook."
You and Jungkook look at Mina, confused.
"Can I speak to you for a minute, please?"
You wait patiently as the two of them step out onto the front porch.
You assume she's apologizing for always being so mean to him. Hopefully, things can start to look up for you all now.
-
"It's over."
"Is it?" Jungkook looks at her with zero emotion.
"Yes."
It's silent for a minute.
"He promised he wouldn't do anything."
"Good for him."
"Dae."
Jungkook squints at her, "What?"
"His name is Choi Dae."
"Why are you telling me this?"
Mina looks at him, a few tears slipping out, "Because I'm not on his side anymore. I never knew what exactly had happened. That's no excuse and I won't try to make ____ see anything but the truth. I fucked up, and I lost the person I love the most, because of someone I thought I loved more."
Jungkook doesn't say anything.
"I'm going to turn myself in."
That makes him look at her.
"But not until you guys can get him behind bars too. I don't trust the police to do their job, but I know you and Judicium can do it."
"Is this some sort of trap?"
Mina shakes her head, "It isn't, but I don't blame you for thinking it is."
"How am I supposed to trust you?"
"You can't. Nothing I say is ever going to earn your trust. I guess you'll just have to have a little blind faith in me."
"What are you going to do to fix this?"
"You can have all that I know. His address, the name of his men, his phone number, pictures, anything. Everything."
"You have this stuff with you?"
"It's in my car."
Jungkook looks towards the door, "Are you going to tell her everything right now?"
Mina shakes her head.
"I'm not strong enough for that. I'm gonna write it to her."
"She deserves to hear it in person."
"Of course, she does, but I'm a shitty person and I want to see her smile because of me at least one more time."
He's got to admit, he knows what that's like.
You deserve better than either of them.
"Well...I'll decide whether I can trust you later. Get me the stuff first and then maybe I'll consider not shooting you in the head."
Jungkook shoulders past Mina into the house.
"Is e-everything okay?" You ask, worried at the look on his face.
"Yeah, everything's fine," Jungkook says, a small strain in his voice.
You see Mina come back in, her eyes focused on the floor as she makes her way over to you.
"I need to go, I'll talk to you later, alright?"
You stand up and hug Mina tightly, not missing the way she stiffens at your touch.
She reluctantly brings her arms around you and hugs you back.
The last thing you see is her give you a sad smile, then she's gone.
It's quiet for a minute, then Jungkook's phone goes off.
He looks at it and you see him make his way to the door, "I'll be right back."
You don't say anything as he leaves, the sound of the door closing making you flinch a little.
You walk over to the groceries Jungkook brought in and start putting them away, thoughts swarming your mind like bees to a rosebush.
Why are they both being so weird?
A while ago, you would be scared they were doing something together behind your back, but you know now that they would never. Jungkook only sees you, like you only see him.
And Mina would never betray you like that.
So, why are they acting like this?
-
A few minutes later, Jungkook comes back in.
He sees the counters cleared where there were once groceries, but no sign of you.
He had gone to get the information from Mina, but he didn't see you leave while he was down there, so you must be in your room.
Jungkook makes his way down the hall, smiling at the framed drawings lining the hallway.
When he reaches your room, he knocks on the door gently, "____?"
Not a moment later, you open the door, a smile on your face.
"Hi!"
"Hi," Jungkook's smile appears at the sight of yours, "Whatcha doing?"
"I'm m-making something, it's a s-secret though."
"Ohh, I see. When do I get to see it?"
"Mm, s-soon," You say with a cute grin.
Jungkook nods, "Alright, I guess I can wait. I'm gonna start dinner while you do that, sound good?"
"Mhm!"
He has a powerful urge to just lean down and give you a quick peck, but he holds himself back. He isn't quite sure why.
Mina's words really struck a chord in him.
"-but I'm a shitty person and I want to see her smile because of me at least one more time."
You're standing there, leaning on the door, the sweetest expectant smile on your face.
You want him to kiss you.
You see Jungkook glance down at your lips, then back up to your eyes, he gulps and gives you a sad smile before turning and walking back down the hall.
A little frown of disappointment appears on your face, but you shake it off and close the door, ready to finish up all the stuff you're making.
-
"Dinner's ready," Jungkook says when you open the door to his knocking a while later.
"Oh yay, I j-just finished!"
Jungkook made tteokbokki, one of your favorites, and you gush about how good it is the entire time you're eating.
Jungkook laughs, "I feel like you eat the same stuff all the time, I'm gonna need to introduce you to more dishes."
You agree that you'll try whatever he gives you, much to his amusement.
After dinner, you gather the dishes and bring them to the sink, but you only just turn the water on when you feel Jungkook press into you from behind, his strong chest right up against your back and his arms reaching around to circle your middle.
"Why are you doing the dishes, silly?"
"B-Because they n-need to be cleaned," You state matter-of-factly, trying not to let your erratic breathing be heard.
You hear a deep chuckle and your heart stops in your chest, "I can do them."
"You m-made dinner."
"And?"
"And y-you're the guest."
You feel a soft kiss on the back of your head, "Let's do them together, hm?"
"Ok."
You're about to say you can wash and he can dry when you feel him take your hands and move them with his to start cleaning the dishes.
A giggle slips out of your mouth at how silly he is, and you feel like you can feel the smile radiating off of him.
By the time you're done with the dishes, you've got soapy suds on your face from when he booped your nose, purposely getting bubbles on you. Jungkook has also got some suds on his cheek from when you found an opportunity to retaliate.
Jungkook turns you around so you're facing him, your lower back leaning against the sink.
Your heart races in your chest when he leans down and presses his nose to yours, getting bubbles on himself before gently slotting his mouth with yours.
You kiss him back, standing up on your tippytoes to reach your arms around his neck, holding him close as he keeps a soft grip on your hips.
When Jungkook pulls away to get a breath, you resist the urge to just say it.
Those three little words.
You want to wait until you can give him the bracelet tomorrow.
"____, I-"
Jungkook cuts himself off, staring into your eyes with an almost pained expression.
You frown at the anxiety flowing from him, "W-What's wrong? Are y-you hurt?"
Jungkook shakes his head.
He wishes he was.
If only it were as simple as that.
If only you could hurt him instead of him hurting you.
Will you ever forgive him?
"I just-"
Once again, he can't find the words.
Your big eyes are searching his as he struggles to speak.
"You c-can tell me an-anything, Kook. You know th-that."
He nods sadly.
"____?"
"Yes?"
"Will you please promise me something?"
You nod.
"Please promise me that you see me."
"W-What-"
Jungkook places a finger on your lips to quiet you.
"I need you to know that I only see you, and I will only ever see you. No matter what happens, ____, please. Please know me."
"J-Jungkook, what are you on a-about? What's g-going to happen?"
Jungkook gulps, "Just- promise me. Promise me that you'll see me."
"I-"
You're looking into his eyes, confused beyond words.
"I p-promise."
Jungkook closes his eyes, breathing in deep before looking at you again.
He leans forward and kisses your forehead, "Thank you," He whispers.
Just as you start to pull back to look at him, Jungkook pulls you closer into his chest, holding you tight.
He's holding you as though if he were to let go you would just float away.
You don't resist though, you just wrap your arms around his middle and let him hold you.
____________
The next morning, you wake up ready for the day.
You get dressed quickly and run out to see Jungkook sitting on the couch, talking lowly to someone on the phone.
"Yeah, that's what she said."
You don't know why, but you don't let yourself be heard.
Not yet.
You freeze and don't make a sound.
"Yeah, I know. I don't know why she suddenly wants to help. Seems too good to be true."
You furrow your brows.
Who wants to help with what?
Maybe he's just talking about work.
"That's what I was thinking..."
You turn to go back into the room, feeling bad that you were just eavesdropping. You're sure he would never do that to you.
"I don't want to lose her."
Those words make you pause.
You turn back to see Jungkook rubbing the back of his neck with his free hand.
"I know. Thanks, hyung."
You bolt to the back before he can turn and see you.
But you must have made some kind of sound because you hear him call out to you the second you reach your room.
"____?"
You turn back to see him looking at you curiously.
"I didn't know you were up."
"Oh, I- I j-just woke up-..."
Your voice fades away with your confidence as he looks at you.
You know he didn't fall for that, you're not even in your pajamas anymore.
Jungkook doesn't say anything though, he just gives you a weak smile.
"Can I drive you to work?"
You smile and nod, "I'd l-like that."
-
Jungkook sighs as he watches you walk into the school.
He doesn't know why, but he's got a bad feeling.
That something is going to change, something between the two of you.
But he can't pinpoint where the feeling is coming from.
You wave to him before disappearing into the school doors.
Jungkook sits there for a while longer before snapping out of it and driving away.
Namjoon hyung told him he had found the person that did the hit, that it was easy.
They checked, and it's the same information that Mina gave to him.
Is she really on their side now? Or is this all some elaborate trick?
-
You're in your room, pacing back and forth.
Do I do it?
No.
No, I can't.
Wait no, I need to.
If I don't do it now, I might never do it.
The box with the black and yellow bracelet in it is getting wet from your sweaty hands, so you set it on the bed so you can keep pacing.
Jungkook isn't here right now, he went to talk to Tae about something earlier. But Tae texted you a few minutes ago to tell you that Jungkook is on the way back to you.
Then he wished you luck.
Ohhhh, you're gonna puke.
You're so nervous it's not even funny.
After a few more minutes of pacing, suddenly the sound of the front door is catapulting you out of your thoughts.
Oh no.
He's back.
I'm not ready.
I'm not ready.
I'm not-
"____?"
You flinch at the sound of his voice, then you run out of your room and right smack into his hard chest.
He was coming down the hall to check on you when you came barreling out of the room like a battering ram.
You feel his hands rest on your lower back as he catches you, a chuckle slipping from his lips.
"Running late?"
You gulp and shake your head.
Jungkook smiles at your wide-eyed expression and brushes the hair from your face.
"You okay?"
"Mhm."
"Good."
You sit there for a second, then you clear your throat.
"Um, c-can you pl-please sit on the co-couch?"
Jungkook's smile is so warm and comforting that you feel all the anxiety melt away.
"Of course."
He lets go of you and turns to make his way back to the living room.
Once he's out of sight, you run back to your room and grab the box, then you scurry out into the living room.
You see Jungkook sitting on the couch, looking at his phone.
He looks up and smiles at you as you come closer, your hands behind your back.
Once you are right in front of him, you take the box from behind your back and hold it out to him.
"I um- I m-made this for yo-you."
Jungkook's eyes glisten as he takes the box from your hands gently.
"Thank you," He breathes.
He hasn't even opened it yet and he looks like he's close to tears.
That thought brings another random one to mind; he's seen you cry a million times and you've never seen him shed a single tear.
Jungkook opens the box to see the black and yellow bracelet you made.
He takes it out and holds it out to you, "Will you help me put it on?"
You take it and clasp it around his wrist with the little metal clasps you attached to the ends.
Jungkook brings it closer to his face and you see him swallow harshly.
"Thank you so much, ____. I love it."
"Y-You're welcome, I have a m-matching one," You hold out your wrist and he sees an identical bracelet there.
You see him blink rapidly before standing up and pulling you into a hug, "Thank you, I- I don't even know what to say."
You giggle softly, "J-Just don't m-make me feel this on my own."
Jungkook smiles when you say his words from a while ago back to him.
He pulls away and brushes a strand of hair from your face.
Say it, ____.
"J-Jungkook..."
"Yes?"
"I-"
The way he's looking into your eyes makes your fluttering heart calm down and you're no longer worried that he's going to reject you.
"I lo-"
*knock knock knock*
You and Jungkook turn your heads toward the door when the unexpected noise sounds.
It isn't Tae and it isn't Jimin, they both know what you're trying to do right now.
Who could it be?
"____, please open the door. I need to talk to you."
Oh, it's Mina.
Jungkook looks at you and you look back apologetically.
He gives you a knowing smile and whispers that he'll wait in your room until she leaves.
You sigh after he walks away down the hall, then you walk over to the door and open it to see a tearful Mina.
"M-Mina, w-what on earth is wrong?"
Her face is gaunt, with dark circles under her eyes as she wipes at the deluge pouring down her face.
"Can I please come in?"
You nod and step aside so she can come in.
"Mina-"
"Just let me talk, please. Don't say anything until I'm done."
You nod, staying silent as you shut the door.
"____, I don't want you to ever forgive me."
You bite your lip to keep yourself from asking anything.
"I did something horrible, and I don't deserve your forgiveness."
Your stomach sinks as she starts blurting out everything.
"I helped him, ____. I didn't know. I didn't know what he had done to you that night, I thought I was in love with him, but now I know it was never love."
What is she saying?
"I know you don't remember, and I'm so sorry that I took advantage of that."
"Mina-"
"I love you, I swear. I was sick in the head, I wasn't thinking. All I could think about was him."
"Who-"
"Dae."
You furrow your brows.
You don't know that name.
Mina sees the confusion on your face.
"He was the one that was responsible for you losing your memory."
You look at her, bewildered.
You were in a car accident, what is she talking about?
"There was never a car accident, ____," Mina whispers brokenly.
You kind of check out after that, not hearing what she's saying as she goes on and on.
But then you snap out of it when you hear a certain sentence.
"That's why I hated Jungkook. I thought he was going to mess up the hit, now I-"
"Huh?"
Mina shuts up instantly.
"W-What? What hit?"
Mina's words are so broken and quiet you barely hear them.
But you do.
"The hit Dae placed on you."
Your head is spinning.
So, this whole time, Jungkook was trying to protect you...
...from your own best friend?
You fall back a step as Mina takes a step closer.
"____, please let me finish."
You look at her and it breaks her heart.
It looks like you don't even know who she is.
"Y-You tried to g-get rid of him so you c-could kill me?" Tears are streaming down your face as you stare at the person you thought you loved most in this world.
The sound of your bedroom door opening doesn't register in your brain.
"I didn't know he was the one that was hired to kill you."
-
-
"W-What?"
Mina has never heard a more heartwrenching question.
The sound of your voice is so far away, so horrified she doesn't even know what to say.
A tear slips down your cheek as your eyes flit over to where Jungkook has just come out of the hall.
Mina turns to see him staring at you in horror.
She looks back at you, swallowing the lump in her throat.
"____-"
Jungkook's strained voice reaches your ears but you don't provide him with an answer.
You look at Mina desperately, almost as if begging her to tell you it's all a joke now so you can laugh it off.
But the look on her face tells you it isn't.
Your own best friend.
She wanted you dead...
The boy you're in love with...this entire time.
All he wanted to do was kill you...?
You run over to the sink in the kitchen and immediately start throwing up.
You throw up until there's nothing left in your stomach to get rid of.
When you shakily look back up, you see Mina sobbing her eyes out and Jungkook staring at you, his eyes filled with despair.
When he finally moves to get to you, you flinch back, stumbling over your own two feet and falling onto the kitchen floor.
You scoot back until your back is to the wall, then you lift your hands to cover your face.
"P-Please. Please d-don't."
Jungkook's heart is in his throat as he watches you cower away from him, begging him not to kill you.
As if he was capable of hurting you.
"____."
You look through your fingers at the sound of his broken voice.
But all you can see is a killer, hiding behind a mask just to get your walls down.
You see the bracelet on his wrist.
You're gonna be sick again.
Jungkook takes a step closer to you but stops when you flinch violently and hide behind your hands again.
"____, he isn't going to hurt you," Mina cries desperately, "Neither of us is going to hurt you."
"____, please." Jungkook can feel a panic attack coming on.
The past months of getting to know him and falling in love with him are flashing through your brain as you hide fearfully.
It was all a ruse?
Just to get to you?
Then everything starts clicking into place.
How he treated you in the beginning, all of the secrets and hushed voices, whenever he disappeared without an explanation.
The blood.
That was blood on his shirt the other night.
He...
...he killed someone.
You turn just in time to start retching again.
The fight he had with that person in Busan...
He's a hitman.
You look back at Jungkook, nothing but pure terror in your eyes.
Jungkook can feel his heart shatter like glass, smashing against the kitchen floor.
All the trust you ever had for him.
Is gone.
Your small figure curled into a ball against the wall is enough to make him sick.
You're scared of him.
No, you're terrified...
...of him...
Mina is blabbering tearfully, seemingly trying to explain things as she apologizes with every breath.
"Get out."
Mina and Jungkook stare at you as you look at the kitchen floor, your words echoing in their minds.
You look back at Jungkook, glaring at him with daggers in your eyes.
"Unl-less you want t-to finish the job..."
"____-"
"Don't c-call me that!!"
Jungkook flinches as you scream at him.
"____-" Mina tries, but you snap your gaze to her.
"Get a-away from me. I n-never want to see y-you again."
Mina only hesitates for a second.
Then Jungkook hears the front door slam shut.
"____, please let me expla-"
"A-Are you not g-going to kill me?" Your voice shakes.
"No, I-"
"THEN G-GET OUT!"
Jungkook sees a trickle of blood going down your ankle where a piece of glass from a broken plate cut you.
It must have fallen off the counter when you stumbled.
He stares at the bright red drip for a moment, then he looks back at you.
"I'm sorry-"
"I h-hate you."
Jungkook swallows the lump in his throat, then he backs away slowly, not wanting to startle you anymore.
The sound of the front door shutting reaches your ears before you break into uncontrollable sobs.
He hears your gut-wrenching cries from outside the door.
His heart has never hurt more than this.
Jungkook slides down the door, pulling his knees to his chest as your sobs echo in his brain, taking away a piece of his heart with every cry.

fly away with you
an ezra x reader fic~
rating: m for smut; virgin reader; some violence
word count: 6,780
summary: Waking up with no memory after a head injury, you find yourself in the presence of your rescuer - a handsome stranger named Ezra.
a/n: I AM SO SORRY i’ve had this fic like...finished but i just never got around to posting it. i had it broken up in chapters, but i just decided to post them all here w/ breaks to signify where the chapter would have ended. (im also adding the first two parts - so if anything seems familiar this is why!)
Ringing. There’s a loud ringing in your ears. Your vision is blurry, and that ringing won’t stop. You can’t hear anything else, and you’re not sure what you’re seeing. The color brown and green seem to blur together. What happened? Did you hit your head?
Reaching up to touch your temple, you feel wet. Your hair having been matted down with something sticky. Pulling your hand away, you look at it. Not that it does any good because your vision is still blurred. But there’s enough red on your fingertips to know it is blood.
Suddenly you smell it, your blood. And dirt. And earth.
Something else is mixed in, maybe smoke? Something in the air is foul.
The air.
You panic. Where’s your helmet? How long have you been breathing in this air? It’s the air you smell that’s foul. What if it’s toxic? Frantically you try to get up, but you can barely get your legs under you. You’re still too dizzy.
When your vision finally clears, you see your helmet on the ground next to you. There’s a large crack leading to a hole. Shards are everywhere. Some have blood on them, and you assume this is where your head injury is from. But upon further inspection, you see blood on the rock nearest you.
What happened?
It’s still foggy, but you try and retrace your steps from the day.
You had been with your cousin, whose whereabouts now you have no idea. It wasn’t even your choice to come along. But he claimed that your hands were the steadiest, and you’d be best for the harvesting. You had no idea what he was even talking about. You only agreed because your home world is the last place you want to be right now. And hey, he said he’d pay you so why not?
The ship ride over was a nightmare. It was smooth sailing quite frankly, but you’ve never been a fan of space travel. You like it on the ground. Though at the present moment the ground is covered in your blood, what a day it’s been. And you can barely remember it.
You do remember harvesting a couple of those things, you can’t even think to remember what your cousin called them. It wasn’t easy but it wasn’t hard either. You did just fine.
You also remember some arguing? Something was happening? There were these other people?
It’s starting to come back to you, but this air is getting to you. How long have you been walking? Are you even going in the right direction? You feel dizzy again and things are starting to spiral.
Then everything goes black.
A voice this time brings you out of your stupor. You can’t make out what they’re saying, but you can make out it’s a male voice. It’s not your cousin, this voice has a thick accent.
You blink several times to clear your vision again, and you take in your surroundings and this stranger.
First you notice you’re inside laying on a cot of some sort. Everything in the room is an olive green. An ugly yellow light shines overhead. It’s very dim. The space is small, it seems to be a large tent. There’s medical supplies and strange photographs on the wall. Where is this?
The man is sitting near you in a metal folding chair. He’s got no choice but to sit close to you, there’s not any room in this area.
He’s in a suit not unlike your own. His face is kind. His voice is deep, but nonthreatening. Light scruff dusts his cheeks and jaw, and his eyes are pleasant. There’s a small blond streak in his brown hair. And a haggard scar on his cheek. His kind eyes and kind smile almost seem out of place next to that scar.
He’s still talking, but you can’t make out what he’s saying. He’s gesturing with his hand. Just one. It’s only then you realize he’s missing his right arm. You feel dizzy again. What if this man is dangerous? Or did he just lose that arm in some accident?
You reach up to touch your temple again, and you feel cloth. A bandage has been wrapped around your head. And you notice, other than a slight headache, you’re not in any pain.
“Where am I?” you wonder aloud. Your throat is so dry your voice croaks.
“At last, the lady is with us!” the man speaks and this time you understand him. His voice sounds nice. That accent is so strong. “Alas, I must admit, I myself do not know where this is. But I was out and about on my harvest when I saw you lyin’ unconscious on the ground. You were gaspin’ for air. So, I took it upon myself to bring you to shelter and here we are.” he gestures with his arm while he looks around the room. That ugly yellow light shines on his face, and suddenly the light is not so ugly on his tan skin.
“Thank you,” you tell him sitting up a little. You’re still feeling dizzy, but you feel safe. “What happened?” you think aloud again. And where is your cousin?
“I heard what sounded like gunfire off in the distance,” he explains, “that’s how I came to find you.”
“I was with my cousin; did you see anyone?”
“I am afraid I only saw some bodies, miss. You were the only one I saw alive.”
Your cousin, and whoever attacked you must have been near where you first woke up. But in your daze, you started walking and missed the bodies entirely.
You were warned this was dangerous work. Sniffling, you wipe your nose with the back of your hand. Grief and shock are setting in. Your cousin is gone, and your harvest.
“I’m stuck here,” you whisper.
“Nonsense,” the man smiles, it’s a warm smile. He seems so kind. You want to trust him. You may have no other choice. “I could not in good conscience leave you behind. You have suffered a mighty fine wound to your noggin, and your poor lungs have breathed in this nasty shit air we got around here.”
He is talking so fast that you can barely keep up.
“Now, I’m sure you’re a-wonderin’ if you can trust me. And right now, little birdie, I’m all you’ve got.”
In any other situation, if a stranger called you a pet name, you might recoil. But he says things so casually, you don’t feel any malice or perversion behind it.
“You can help me harvest, and I can get you outta here. There is my offer plain and simple. You can surely decline, but if your cousin is gone, my condolences. And you have no way to get home.”
Home. You don’t want to go home. You don’t want to stay here, but you don’t want to go home.
“What’s that?” he leans forward, his eyes squinting. He’s trying to hear; you didn’t realize you’ve just said that out loud. “Where are you from?”
“Zulara,” you mumble.
He winces, clenching his teeth, “I do not blame you one bit for not wantin’ to head on back to that planet. I am currently residin’ on Anvarvis V, and I’d be glad to take you along with me.”
You sit for a moment weighing your options. You’ve heard good things about Anvarvis V. or was it IV?
“We’ll split the harvest 50/50?” you ask.
He nods.
“Ok. It’s a deal,” you nod and stick out your hand.
“Alright,” he grins. “I’m Ezra, what can I call you?”
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
And that’s how you began a partnership with Ezra. You worked well together. Tuns out you were really good at the harvesting part, and Ezra’s wit and charm made him a good salesman. He brokered deals and sold the product you’d harvested for a lot of money.
You’ve been so busy; you’ve not even gone to his home planet yet. But somehow you liked this life with him. There’s space enough of his ship for you, and you quite enjoy his company.
Truth be told you enjoy his company more and more each passing day. Your cheeks warm now when he calls you “little bird.” Your heart leaps into your throat if he ever touches you.
That first week with him he touched you a lot. Yes, okay he was checking the bandage on your head, but his fingers would graze skin and he was standing so close to you.
That’s when it first started you think. Being so close, seeing his soft lips surrounded by a dark stubble. His gentle brown eyes looking over your wound.
Maybe you were just lonely. Or maybe it was sharing such a small space with your rescuer. But you had a crush that only seemed to grow.
It started to suffocate you being so close to him and not being his.
The two of you fell into a natural routine and you grew accustomed to seeing him shirtless. That first time seeing him without a shirt almost sent you over. You ached to touch his olive skin. He looked so warm. You had to force yourself not to stare.
He thought you were looking at his right shoulder, where his arm used to be. And he began to ramble on about how it happened. You were embarrassed because that’s not what you were looking at, but you listened to his story all the same. He was opening up to you.
Ezra has the gift of gab, and he talks nonstop. But if you ever have anything to say, he listens with a deep interest. You’ve never felt so heard before. He never talks over you. His constant talking if often stories or little tidbits of trivia, but after that night of him opening up about his arm, things changed.
He was almost always in a good mood, but when he couldn’t complete a task due to his arm, he’d be a little grumpy and frustrated. But after telling you what happened, he let you help him without protest.
Maybe he got the feeling he could trust you back.
“Thank you, little bird,” he always said. And the last time he said it, you know he saw your cheeks turn red.
You figure at some point he’ll ask, or you’ll admit your feelings. You’re not sure which, but both options scare you. You’ve never done this before.
Back at home, you spent most of your life in school or working. There was no time for relationships, as much as you wanted one. You read stories of lovers, you kept them hidden under your mattress. The want was there, but no experience to fulfill that big question in your mind of what it’s like.
What it feels like to be loved by someone, to be held. You always were a little shy about the sexual parts of the book, yet those were the parts you couldn’t tear your eyes away from.
“What are you thinking about over there?” Ezra’s voice cuts in. A deep blush stains your cheeks. You’d been remembering of a story you’d read where a man pleasures a woman with his mouth. You look at Ezra’s mouth and feel your stomach drop and pray he can’t read your mind.
“Nothing,” you chirp at being caught.
“From that look on your face, I’m gonna wager a gamble and say it’s definitely something clanking around in that head.”
Scrambling, you try to think of anything to change the subject. He’s watching you squirm, and he’s delighted in it. Maybe it won’t be too hard after all to tell him if he can already see it.
“When’s the next sell?” you ask, nibbling the skin off your bottom lip.
“Pretty soon,” he replies. “I will head out soon. Won’t be gone long. Will you be alright to wait here until I make a triumphant return?” he grins.
You nod, returning his smile. You feel a heat pooling in between your legs. You shift a little in your seat trying to relieve the pressure. As soon as he’s gone, you’ll do something about it.
Two nights ago, you touched yourself thinking of him. That was the first time. You’d seen his bare ass when he was exiting the shower area. He had to have known you might see, and you couldn’t decide which thought thrilled you more. But the image of him naked was seared into your mind. And that night while he slept soundly, you touched yourself - wishing it were him.
You’d come up with a dirty fantasy, one you will play out again as soon as he leaves. And he can’t leave soon enough.
Normally, you’d go with him. But this buyer is a familiar one and can be trusted. You’re not worried about Ezra taking care of himself in a fight. He’s been in plenty of a scrap or two.
But if you’re honest, your brain is so clouded with the thought of getting a release you’re not worried about him in the slightest.
The thought passes in your mind you don’t know how long he’ll be gone, so you elect to leave your pants on. You lay down on your bed in your little corner of the ship.
The main hanger is around room, your beds are on opposite walls but still in the same room. So, you can see his bed from yours, and you consider going over to his bed, but you’ve already got your hand down your pants thinking about him on your bed.
You begin to tease yourself and you’re already wet from your own imagination. You think of him naked. What he looks like from the front. What he must look like when he’s hard for you. You think of his lips, and how his hand feels. What they must feel like on sensitive skin. You think of his stubble scraping your thighs. How good his long thick fingers would feel like inside of you. How he’d be gentle taking you for the first time.
Your thighs shake and you clench around your fingers wishing it were him.
The release hits you hard, and you gasp. It echoes through the ship. Your breathing is heavy but beginning to calm, when suddenly you hear:
“Well hello there little birdie!”
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Horror floods through your veins and your heart is pounding in your head. You’re still coming down from your high, while fear spikes within you. Your eyes are wide, and you’re frozen staring at him. Your mouth is hanging open, and his mouth is curved in a playful smirk.
When tears begin to fall from your eyes, his expression softens completely.
“Little bird, I-,” he sticks his hand out trying to demonstrate he didn’t mean to embarrass you, but it’s too late. Tears pouring down your cheeks you run into the bathroom chamber and push the button to close the door harshly. It hisses loudly, and the moment it closes you sink to the floor. Cheeks red with embarrassment.
In those books you’ve read, maybe the character wouldn’t have cared. And would have let the man know what she was doing. But this just isn’t how you wanted this to happen. As much as you do want Ezra to know you want him. The shock of the moment startled you.
Ezra outside in the main hangar is uncharacteristically quiet. You can hear him rummaging around. From the sound of it, he’s taking off the bulky outer suit. It takes him a moment since he only has the help of one arm.
He’ll be sitting down on his bunk and unfasten the clips and zippers. He grits his teeth sometimes, other times he bites his lower lip. You tease him about the different faces he makes when he’s concentrating on something.
Deciding to clear your mind further, you turn on the shower. For a moment you hope he doesn’t need to take one after being outside, but you imagine he’s letting you have your space for a moment.
While you shower, you try to decide what you’re even going to say.
“Hi Ezra, I was touching myself thinking about you.”
Well. That might not be a bad way to start. But that feeling of nerves hits your gut. What if he doesn’t want you back? What if he does want you?
You mull this over in your mind and wash yourself clean. Normally the thought of being naked in here while he’s out there has sent you a thrill. Now you’re even more aware of him.
You decide you do want him. But you don’t know where to start. Him seeing you is one way to break the ice.
Gathering your courage, you wrap a towel around yourself and exit the bathroom into the main hanger. Your eyes fix upon him, and every nerve is on fire.
As expected, he’d changed out of his suit. He’s sitting on his cot in comfortable pants, a worn black Henley, and some socks. His hair is sweaty, but it’s sticking up in multiple directions from obviously running a hand through it. His right arm sleeve is tied in a knot near his shoulder to stay out of his way. He’s got something propped up on his left knee, and he’s practicing his hand strength with his left hand. He pauses when he sees you, he doesn’t speak.
He’s waiting for you to say something first. He can read the terror in your eyes as you step closer. Giving you full attention, he frees his hand, and watches you approach him slowly.
When you’re right in front of his spread legs, he reaches out a hand to grab yours.
“You doin’ alright there little bird? You are tremblin’ like a leaf on a tree with strong winds blowin’ every which way.”
You open your mouth trying to think of what to say. You’d forgotten your entire plan you’d cooked up in the shower. Now that you’re here in front of him and he’s looking at you with those soft eyes, your mind is blank.
You almost wonder if you should just drop the towel and climb on him, but you can’t help but want some romancing.
“Say what’s on your mind little bird, I see the wheels turning in your head.”
“I’m sorry you had to see that,” is all you can think to say. But are you sorry? You don’t know what’s going on.
“I’m not,” he grins, but the grin softens, and his eyes are gentle. He stands and presses his palm to your cheek. Shaking a little from the touch, you lean into his hand. “But I am sorry that my presence startled you so, and that I saw such an intimate act without your permission. I admit I was only present for the uh, grand finale as it were, but on my honor, I will not speak of this again if you would prefer it.”
Your cheeks darkened as he spoke, and you can see the look in his eyes. It’s a gentle attraction.
“I-” you start but only blush deeper under his gentle gaze. His eyes are big, he’s listening intently.
“I understand your profound embarrassment, but there is nothing to be ashamed of seeking a fine release such as that. If I may say little bird, I’m only sorry I was not the one to give it to you.”
Your eyes widen at the last sentence. You swallow hard.
This is it.
“You want me?”
“I do little bird. I have for a quite a spell now. You are, simply put, the sweetest thing I have ever had the pleasure to know, and you have brought a light into my dark life I did not know I was needin’.”
His hand is still on your face, his thumb brushes you bottom lip.
“I want you too,” you give him a shy smile which he returns, “only I don’t know what I’m doing.”
“You surely seemed to know a few moments ago,” he winks.
“Ezra,” you groan and bury your face in his shoulder.
“My sincerest apologies,” he teases, “I already broke my promise.”
He’s trying to make you laugh, which it does. And the two of you share a moment of laughter before you pull back to look up at him again.
“I’m serious though, Ezra. I don’t know how to do this. I’ve never-”
“Never what?” he repeats, thumb rubbing your flushed cheeks.
“I’ve never even been kissed,” you tell him.
“Well, little bird. It would seem the honor has been bestowed to me to teach you the lovely ways of liplockin’.”
“What do I do?” you whisper, which he seems to find amusing.
“You know something, I have never once been in situation quite like this in my lifetime.”
That coaxes a smile from you, and you’re already feeling relaxed.
“I can’t say that I have either,” you laugh.
“First step, is to close those pretty little eyes of yours.”
You close your eyes, and smile, you trust him. You think back to when you met him all those weeks ago when he saved your life. You certainly didn’t imagine this happening then.
“Now, tilt your head just a little,” he pushes a little with his hand guiding you. “And open that mouth of yours, just a smidge.” He pushes down your bottom lip with his thumb.
His voice stops, and you feel his breath on your face. He smells like mint and sweat. You decide it’s a good smell.
You feel the tip of his nose first press against the top of your cheek. Then his lips gently press against yours. His tongue just barely touches your lips. His stubbly chin and upper lip scrape on your skin in a way you didn’t know you’d love this much. His hand holds your face gently, and what he doesn’t say, or can’t say during this kiss, is he wishes he could wrap his other arm around you.
Your knees buckle, and you let go of the towel that’d you’d been holding on to so tight and mold your body to his. A strong thigh is in between your legs, your hands cup his face and you pull away gasping. Your heart is fluttering.
He’s slow to open his eyes, the smile splits his face before his eyelids even flutter open.
“Now that,” he licks his lips, “was simply divine.” He leans in and places a couple quick pecks to your lips getting a laugh from you.
You take a step back, and the towel is going to fall. And you were going to let it. But much to your surprise, his hand stops it by pressing his hand against your chest, keeping the cloth from exposing you to him.
“Hold on now,” he breathes. “That little heart that’s fluttering under my hand has surely had enough excitement for one day. And as much as I would love to see that body of yours, I am not wanting to take you to bed in this dirty old ship. I would rather take you home. Since I am unfortunately missing a tool of the trade, I am not experienced in taking lovers into my bed with ol’ lefty here. It’ll be a learning experience for us both little bird. You alright with that?”
You nod, putting your hand over his on your chest.
“Then let’s get you home.”
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Your head is pounding, and you can see him. Your cousin. It’s like you’re on the outside looking in. You see the clearing of trees and two men with your cousin. It’s a standoff, everyone is frozen. There you hear a sharp crack somewhere in the woods, causing the men to take fire. One man shoots your cousin, the other steals the harvest from your cousin’s dead hands. Then that man is shot, he killed his own partner and took the harvest from his hands. He turned around to face you, and you saw his face.
It was Ezra.
With a sharp gasp, you jolt awake. Sweat is on your brow, your heart is racing, and you feel sick to your stomach. Panic sets in because you can’t remember where you are.
Looking around you realize that you’re home, with Ezra.
After your kiss with him, he got the ship ready and punched in the coordinates to head home. His home, but now it would be yours. You expressed to him your apprehension of space travel, and he took down the med pack to give you a medicine to calm your nerves.
“Fear of flying is not uncommon,” he’d told you warmly with a kiss on your cheek.
After the flight and landing, he gave you another medicine to help your lungs adjust to the air of this planet.
You were so nervous, but full of excitement! You have a new home with this wonderful soul.
The planet is gorgeous. The ship landed out the outskirts of the city. It’s nighttime so you can see it’s all lit up, and it’s blue. Every light is a twinkling blue.
“It’s beautiful!” you’d gasped. Ezra was proud to show you his home.
He was not originally from this planet; this is where he lives now when he isn’t prospecting.
He owns a small house is near the outskirts. He could afford a city apartment if he wanted, but he preferred living out away from the hustle and bustle of city life. He likes his view of the trees from his living room, which are also blue.
His house is humble. One bedroom, one bathroom, a quaint kitchen, a small table, and a sitting area. The shelves and walls are covered in artifacts and trinkets from other world’s he’s visited. You love it. It feels like a lived-in home.
“We will have to share this bed unless you want me to take the couch?” Ezra tells you when you collapse onto his bed. It’s been too long a day with all the space travel.
“I don’t mind,” you tell him, and he grins easily.
“No gettin’ to business tonight little bird. I gotta rest, you do too.”
You nod, you’re too tired for that. Though if he wanted to, you wouldn’t have said no.
You fell asleep that night with his body close to yours.
He’s still close by when you wake up from your dream.
“Little bird?” he asks waking up, rubbing his eyes with his hand. “You alright?”
You scramble out of the bed to get away from him. Your heart is beating so fast.
“It was YOU,” you gasp, tears are beginning to fall.
“Me? Birdie, I do not have a damn idea what on this planet you are referring to.”
“You shot and killed my cousin! I saw it in my dream!!”
He sits up and tries to calm you down.
“Little birdie-”
“Stop calling me that!” you cry. You hug your arms around your waist.
“Look at me. Look at my face.” He waits til you look at him, there’s no joke or smile on his face. His eyes are wide, and you can tell he’s upset you’re upset. “I did not kill him. I didn’t even have my gun with me when I found the bodies.”
You think back to when you first met him, and what you can remember from then, he didn’t have a gun on him.
“But it looked so real,” you sniffle.
“I had hoped this would not happen to you, but one of the side effects of the medicine I had given you is nightmares. You’re on a new planet, in a new place. It would not be a surprise to me if you had weird dreams. Now as to your cousin, I do not think you will ever uncover the mystery of his death. I can recall to you what I saw again if it will ease your mind.”
You sniffle again and nod.
He tells you what he remembers, and you do trust him. But that dream still felt so real.
You had been finishing up a harvest when your cousin went to look for another. Your memory is hazy after that.
Ezra fills in the gaps based on what he saw. He’d seen two bodies; one was your cousin and then another man. Your harvest was gone, and there were footsteps leading in another direction. Ezra, not wanting to get into it with this guy, went the opposite way. Which is when he found your shattered helmet and blood. He followed your footprints which led him to you.
“So, I killed my cousin,” you bury your face in your hands, sitting down on the bed.
“You are making less and less sense,” his eyebrows crease.
“You said there was a large branch and I must have tripped, so me tripping sounded the alarm causing the gunfire to go off,” you being to cry into your hands.
Ezra scoots closer to you to wrap and arm around you. He holds you close to him and kisses your hair while he shushes you.
“That was a whole tricky situation and no one’s fault. I have been in a sticky situation like that before and it would seem that people who are trigger happy need no cue to fire away. You are not at fault. Besides, if all this had not occurred, I might not have met the love of my life.”
You look up from your hands, tears still in your eyes.
“What?”
“You heard what I said,” he kisses the shell of your ear.
Crying now tears of joy, you throw your arms around his neck and kiss all over his face. He topples backwards, laughing the whole way down.
“I love you too,” you say between kisses. “I’m sorry I accused you of murder,” you laugh.
He laughs, rolling over so he’s on top of you. He kisses your face and dries your tears. You start to writhe under him when you feel him beginning to harden on your thigh.
“What do you say to some breakfast and then we come back to this bed huh?”
Feeling a little bold, you reach down to cup him through his sleep pants. He gasps out in surprise and buries his face in the crook of your neck.
“Why leave?” you ask, unsure of what to do, but you like touching him. You continue to, until your stomach rumbles loudly. He raises an eyebrow teasing you, even though you still have your hand around his cock. “Fine,” you laugh, “breakfast first.”
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
While Ezra makes breakfast, you look around your new home. Since the house is small and his voice carries, you ask him questions about different objects, and he rambles on from the kitchen.
There are photographs of him when he was younger, those are your favorites. You’re looking at one particular photograph, when he had both arms and no blond streak. He looked like a completely different person.
Your thoughts are torn away when you hear him call your name.
“Could you reach that spice for me off the shelf?” His one hand is too busy to stop and reach. “Just set it down on the counter there,” he nods. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome,” you smile and wrap your arms around him from behind. Kissing his cheek, he hums. “I’m sorry I’m acting so strange, I think I’m a little nervous,” you admit kissing his shoulder blade.
“Well birdie, it is no small feat to be joined in a union with another person in such an intimate fashion, especially when one is not experienced. It is a lovely thing but can be an overwhelmin’ experience. I am glad to assist and ease the knot in your belly of nerves.”
“I love the way you talk,” you smile kissing his shoulder again.
“And I quite love the way you are holdin’ me right now.”
“I’m sorry again about this morning. I’m sure that’s not the morning you had in mind.”
“No to worry. Grief and change do a wonder on your mind. I know that from losing my arm.”
“Tell me how you got that blond streak in your hair,” you murmur and lean your cheek against his shoulder.
“Now that is an interesting story!” One of which he tells for the rest of the morning. And when he’s done, you’re still not sure what exactly happened. But you laughed and all but forgot about the nerves in the pit of your stomach.
So much so that when he stands and reaches out his hand for you, you’re not sure what he’s doing.
“You ready?” he asks, motioning his head toward the bedroom. Your heart skips, but you nod, yes.
He leads you back into his room, and has you sit down on the bed. He moves around the room setting the mood. First, he pushes a button on the wall that lowers the curtains, dimming the room. He closes the door behind him and sits next to you on the bed.
“How does this work?” you ask a little timid, but very eager.
“Lay back,” he tells you. He lays down on top of you and begins to kiss your face and your lips. Anywhere his lips can kiss, he kisses. Your cheeks, your ears, your eyelids even. The tip of your nose.
Then he moves to your neck and chin and jaw. He adds some bites to your neck, and sucks on your clavicle.
“Can I?” he asks tugging on the hem of your shirt. You nod, and with his help, you pull it off exposing chest to him now. You swallow, feeling a little shy watching him eye your breasts.
You’ve never seen him so speechless. Instead of talking, he puts his mouth to use and suckles your perked nipple into his mouth. His hand cups your other breast and thumbs over your nipple. When you gasp, he sucks harder and pinches his fingers harder. Your hands fly to his hair and you pull. He growls a little and you feel slick between your legs.
“Ezra?” you whine. Your breast is shiny with his saliva, and there’s a sting left behind from his teeth and grit from his facial hair.
“What do you need birdie?” He murmurs into you flesh. His hand smoothing down your skin and gliding over your tummy and to the waistband of your pants.
“Ezra wait,” you gasp.
“Are my ministrations too fast for your likin’?” he questions, lips dragging along your stomach. He’s trying to make you laugh again, or at least relax you further.
“I-” you pause.
“It’s ok,” he smiles and kisses your tummy. “Help me?” he says tugging on your pants a little. You help him push your pants and underwear down, and you watch in equal parts arousal and embarrassment as he sees you.
He touches a pointer finger to your entrance, touching the slick gathered there. He dips inside and you arch your back feeling the drag of his finger inside. His thumb brushes your clit and you jolt.
“Now remember, I am not as well practiced with my left, so you’ll have to excuse any inexperience on my part, though I do know how to please a lady.”
“Ezra!” is all you can think to say when he slides a second finger in.
“But as it seems, you’re enjoying this regardless. That’s good,” he smiles and presses a loud kiss to your thigh. He doesn’t stop the toying with your clit. Even after you hit that first high and come around his fingers. He keeps going. Teasing you just a little more. “You are doin’ so well my girl,” he purrs.
He looks up at you when he pulls his hand away, his grin is pure lovesick. Your eyes are hazy from the high you’ve just been given, and there’s still more to come.
“I want just one more from you before we get down to it alright?” He tells you. He’s working his way up the bed, and you’re not sure what he’s doing. He pulls the pillows together, and he flops down on his back, his head on the pillows. “Alright little bird, c’mere,” he says and taps his chin.
Taking his meaning with heat covering your body, you climb up and carefully lower yourself onto his face. His tongue and mouth ready to accept your heat. You groan in unison as he makes the first lick. You’re still so sensitive from before, but wow it feels good.
Oh.
This is really good.
His mouth, of course, of course his mouth is as skilled in pleasure as it is in talking. His tongue moves expertly on your flesh as if he’s done this to you a million times. You’re coming on his tongue in mere minutes.
His arm is tight around you, and you buck against him as you come down.
His eyes open, and he looks up at you, he’s quite pleased with himself.
“Now if this isn’t the best view a man could have then I don’t know what is,” he smiles, his eyes lingering on your breasts for a beat, then back up to your face.
Carefully, on wobbly legs, you lay down on the bed, and Ezra works to take off his pants. You lean up to look at him, he’s on his knees now, naked. He’s stroking himself lazily, getting ready for you.
“Can I?” you sit up reaching for him.
“Be my guest,” he reassures, and you wrap your fingers around him. He winces and groans a little. “It has been far too long since I’ve been held but someone other than my own hand.”
He feels nice, and you have the desire to keep moving your hand until he finds his high. But he pushes your hand away.
“I do appreciate the eagerness, but if you keep that up, we won’t get to all the fun. Lay down for me alright?”
You do as he asks, and he pauses for a moment. He’s thinking.
When he gets the idea, you see it come across his face with a little “oh!” and a grin. He lays down on top of you, you’re chest to chest.
“Little birdie, I need you to wrap your legs around me? Got it?” You nod and do as he asks. From this position you can feel the tip of him at your entrance. Putting his weight on you for a moment, he reaches down between your bodies and lines himself up with you. “There might be a little bit of a pinch, but we’ll work ya through it alright?”
You nod again, and he pushes inside. He moves his hand back up to smooth your hair out of your face. He moves slowly, watching your face, kissing you more to get you relaxed. Once he’s fully inside, he waits.
He gives you a moment to breathe, then when you give the ok, he moves. His arm is up by your head now, keeping him from putting his whole weight on you and giving him some leverage. His thrusts are steady, and your body moves with him, gasping each time he hits that spot in you.
“It pains me that I cannot reach down to tease that lovely pussy of yours, but birdie, you gotta touch yourself for me. Can you do that?”
You slip your hand between your bodies and touch yourself in rhythm with his thrusts.
“Good girl,” he coaxes. “Don’t stop,” he tells you nibbling your ear. And you don’t. You keep going until you feel the high approaching. When it hits you, he’s not far behind. His cock twitches and pulses, and he comes deep inside you.
Exhaustion hits him and he puts more of his weight on you. Now with a free hand, he pushes your hand away and touches your clit again just to touch you a little one more time. That touch has you jolt, and he laughs darkly in your neck.
“Ezra?”
“Mmm?” he looks up at you, and you start to smooth his hair back.
“Can we do this again? Tonight?” you bite your lip.
“Hmm,” he pretends to think. “I’ll have to think about it.”
“Ezra!” you laugh and playfully hit his chest.
“Okie,” he shrugs and begins to blow raspberries on your chest.
You stay with him then, tangled in the sheets all morning. And all afternoon, and into the evening. You can barely keep your hands off one another. And there’s not much desire to go prospecting any time soon, not when you’ve discovered something much richer in each other.
