"Don't watch." Empire Siblings?
empire siblings neighbor au
Since their reunion, Beau has gotten a sense that Bren- That Caleb, still thinks of her like the little girl he left so many years ago. Whenever they're in combat together, he keeps any eye on her, striking down anyone who gets too close. It's not that she minds that, it's more the fact that it's so clear he can't see her as the grown up woman she is.
It becomes even clearer when the two of them are separated from the rest of the party. Of course rocks just so happened to fall that just so happened to separate her and Caleb from everyone else.
"You okay?" Beau asks as she stands up, dusting herself off as she picks up her staff.
Caleb sighs, "Ja." He looks back at the rocks and then forward where the tunnels continues. "Forward, then. It must loop around somewhere."
"Yeah maybe," Beau begrudgingly agrees.
The two of them walk in uncomfortable silence, neither quite sure what to say to the other. That's how it's been in the weeks since they met in that bar. What do you say to the man who was your only source of love for so many years? What do you say to the girl you abandoned without a word?
Fortunately any opportunity for conversation is cut off when a man bursts out of one of the alcoves, swinging his swords wildly as he attacks Beau. Caught off guard, he slices her arm up pretty good before she can whack him with her stick to get him the fuck away from her.
Clutching her bleeding arm, Beau stumbles back as Caleb takes up the fight, his hands swirling with magic. In no time, the bandit is unconscious on the ground, bleeding and burned but still alive.
"We should go," Beau tells Caleb as she finishes wrapping a torn piece of cloth around her arm.
But Caleb just shakes his head, "We can't have him waking up and following us." He looks back at her, his face hard and serious in a way she has never seen before. The man before her looks nothing like the kind boy who taught her how to do math and how to fold paper into swans and cats. "Don't watch."
"What the fuck, man?" Beau asks. "I've seen people die before. Just get it over with."
Caleb shakes his head, "Listen to me, Beauregard. You don't want to watch this, I'll catch up with you."
She sets her jaw, "I'm not a fucking child anymore, Caleb. Stop treating me like I am."
"That's not what this is about." She can tell he's getting upset, his hands shaking and sweat forming on his brow. There's something seriously wrong. "Please, Beauregard."
She stares at him for a long moment before muttering, "Whatever," and continuing along the path, leaving Caleb and the bandit behind.
Behind her, she hears the brief roar of flames and a strangled cry. Then nothing. But she just keeps walking.

Sorry, Wrong Comms! : Hunter x Medic!Reader [Chapter 1]
Much more recently written fanfic I started to distract myself from the "mild" trauma of Season 2 finale based on ideas that wouldn't work for "Rough Stuff". This fic is absolutely RIFE with my personal headcanons. Clones deserved so much better, and I will be a giant mess when I get to Pong Krell in TWC as I have since started rewatching it.
Warnings & Information: Intended audience is 13+, 18 if you squint. Hurt+comfort material primarily; there is still a fair amount of angst, fluff, and all the good stuff. Reader has she/her pronouns. We really like italics in this house. Peep this for funsies for why I decide to use Mando'a. By no means comprehensive, in no particular order there will be: Mild injury description + care, blood, vague medical terminology (read as: pretending to understand medical stuff), use of restraints, needles (autoinjectors), near-death(s), nausea and non-descriptive mentions of vomit, Star Wars swearing, drugs (both medical and recreational references), minor adult themes + implications, avoidant behaviors, trickery and light mean teasing in the forms of siblings and crushes.
Series-inaccurate allusions to Crosshair never leaving Bad Batch post Order 66 execution [because while this is an AU fic, I am also very much an Avoidant Mess™], Batchers never meet Cid, fair chance of misremembering any referenced events from TCW series. Series accurate allusions and references to canon violence (AKA: literal war crimes, weapon injuries, etcetera).

She couldn't remember the last time she had a really, really bad day outside of her medical clinic. There was a tip-off that an abandoned medical center on a neighboring mining planet within the system had supplies too tantalizing to ignore. Valuable paraphernalia that was being phased out by this emerging Empire, ripe for the taking. Did the mining company really have to build this settlement on the steepest face of the mountain? No, they probably didn't realize how unstable, unsafe and ultimately unsuitable this location was while they riddled the inside of the mountain with tunnels as they harvested precious ore and minerals. This was a boomtown and it had completed two of the three strikes typical of such: strike it rich, strike it fast, strike it down. The people living and working here had to abandon it in a hurry before they demoed the place. This mining company hadn't done their proper research and now the shells of their temporary structures were all that remained.
But a scrappy little scavenger had found the medical center was still fairly flush with supplies and let the first medic who was willing to help them with their injuries know about the score. 'It'll be dangerous. If you're going, tell a friend so they know to come looking for you if you don't get back after a certain time. But these items are pre-Empire, they aren't making them like that anymore, so you'll want these. Trust me. I think you'll find them worth the risk of a rock slide or two.'
It. Was. Not. Not really, anyways.
She was just glad to be home now. Put the day behind her. No more rock slides. No more rusted shells of buildings that made for excellent deathtraps. No more falling halfway down the mountain she climbed up in the descent to her ship in the foothills and losing almost every last med supply she came with after slipping on a patch of loose, fine-grain sand just after navigating the maze of the medical center. She had to hobble down the rest of the mountain with nothing to clean out the open wounds and prayed to everything and anything that she didn't contract something that had leached into the rock as the by-products of mining and refinery. She had to stumble into her ship and send a message to her back-up at home that she was 'hurt pretty kriffing bad' but alive and would be back planet-side after dinner; don't wait up for me, I'm too damn tired to swing by after all. Tell the others I'm sorry.
Her instructors in med school would be having a conniption if they saw the way she had tended her wounds so lazily and would never let her hear the end of it for the juvenile, sloppy attempt to bandage the laceration on her dominant arm, but she was too tired to care. (But if she ever saw that scavenger again, she'd kill them for failing to mention several things. The collapsing roof in the west stock room, for starters.) She'd deal with it all properly in the morning. She just wanted to sleep after sucking down two tubes of nutrient paste and a mixed handful of painkillers and antibiotics to ward away pain and infection.
She picked up her datapad one last time and hissed a deliberate dictation into the mic after tugging the knot to the wrapping one last time for good measure. "I'll deal with that bantha fodder in the morning… Home safe. Going to bed. Goodnight."
She'd accidentally sent it to the wider group beyond the singular contact when five messages popped up in short succession.
Glad you're home safe. Sleep well, kid.
likewise
GOODNIGHT!:)
Yes, goodnight.
We'll see you in the morning, burc'ya.
Hopefully she'd feel well-rested with the sunrise. Crawling into her bed, she dropped heavily on her side and clutched a well worn Tooka doll in her favorite colors named after her very first childhood pet to her chest as she drew the covers up over her shoulders. Maker, she was so tired. It wouldn't take long before sleep came for her, feeling the first beckoning pulls on her eyelids after just a few moments.
Her comms gave a harsh screech, jolting her awake in her bed. Just when she had drifted off… This better be important. An actual karking emergency. Someone who had her personal frequency had better be dying if they were contacting her. "What."
There was a lot of shuffling and keypad beeping on the other end of the comms channel, but no one spoke right away. Just when she was about to either call out a hello? or simply disconnect her comlink, she heard someone speak up. Clone Sergeant Hunter. "Tech is this really necessary to keep the-"
"If we want an accurate oral temperature, yes."
There was a groan over the channel, then the sharp rustle as the comms got bumped or adjusted in Hunter's hand. "Well the longer I have it in my mouth the closer I feel to gaggin-"
She shot upright in her bunk, slightly grossed out and confused all at once. "What the kriff are you-!?"
The two Clones on the other end of the comlink gave their own startled shouts, realizing they had a disembodied voice suddenly joining their company. "[____]! How-?"
She was quick to cut Tech off, pulling the comlink closer to her face to amplify her furious tone of voice. "Did one of you seriously call me - in the middle of a medical check - when I'm trying to sleep!"
"Sorry, [____]." Hunter mumbled shamefully. "Must have switched on my comlink by mistake… Didn't mean to disturb you when I know you've had a hard day." What an understatement, Hunter. The impulsive venom in her mouth was hard to hold back, encouraged by her frustrations and discomforts bubbling over. "Hard day made harder thanks to you." She regretted it in a heartbeat. Thank the Maker the enhanced Clone wasn't in the room with her; he'd probably have been able to hear the way it skipped a beat if he was able to sense the beginnings of seismic activity, smell the way she felt her body begin to shiver in a forming, cold stress-sweat as the shame of her anger washed over her.
"You're right: let me make it up to you."
She was told to come over to the Batch's housing. Crosshair opened the blastdoor for her before she even had a chance to knock to avoid waking anyone sleeping if she used the buzzer. "He'll be in the main area."
"What, no "Hello, taking care of yourself like I told you to?" tonight, Cross? Even as a joke, after the day I've been having, to lighten the mood?"
There was a half-hearted scoff (or maybe that was a soft laugh) from the Clone at this."That's more Wrecker's thing," Cross drawled in a casual voice around a toothpick, sidestepping to let her squeeze inside, "and I'm not really interested in pretending I can't see that you are not taking care of yourself."
"No, of course not Mr. Sharp-eyed, Snarky Sniper. 'Cause I fall down the mountains of abandoned mining settlements for kriffing fun."
If Cross was phased by the uncharacteristic anger of the medic tonight, he didn't really show it. Just a little twitching pull of his upper lip on one side and half-lidded eyes that betrayed a bit of amusement and disappointment. "Mmp. C'mon, kid. I'll see if I can't find a half-decent ration bar somewhere around here for you."
"Not hungry, Cr-"
"Don't care." He interrupted in a brusque tone, not giving her the opportunity for excuses. Crosshair was the kinda guy who didn't like excuses, either in giving or getting, and could be quick to shut that kriff down. It was refreshing sometimes, but tonight it was just another mild annoyance of [____]'s day.
Whatever. She was going to go find Hunter where Cross said he'd be rather than waiting around in the entryway forever. "Skipping meals again, are we burc'ya?" As a medic, she often missed out on a meal or two while she was aiding the galaxy's sick and injured, and the unintentional habit carried over when she wasn't at the clinic. Something that made her friends fret over her like this. "For once I had all three meals. Only thing I swear went right today…" There was a pause as the medic heard a comment from the small kitchen on the left from the common room and she added with a gentle sigh, "aside from not breaking any bones during that nasty fall, too I guess."
Hunter looked relieved and genuinely proud of her, sincerely surprised she wasn't tired and hungry like many nights in the past. Crosshair just turned on his heel back into the kitchen unit without breaking his stride, after a little shuffling around in the cabinets [____] could hear the sink running. "Well that's… good! Proud of you, kid."
"...Than-"
Cross set the glass of water he'd filled for her in lieu of the ration bar down on a low table in the common room in the middle of the light conversation she was having with Hunter. "Here. I'll leave you two to it. Goodnight."
"U-um, thanks, Cross. Goodnight…" Cross nodded nonchalantly at her, next turning to his brother, who was quick to avoid his eyes before Crosshair just turned and left the two of them. Leave you two to it, what did he mean by that that had Hunter looking so nervous with a wave of color creeping up his neck from under the collar of a fresh nightshirt? "What's going on, Hunter? Do I need to be worried about something? Something show up on the health check? Do you need some nysillin tea or- s-something?"
Hunter shook his head, a tender, reassuring (and touched) smile slowly building. You could take the doctor out of the clinic, but you couldn't stop her from thinking about her job. "Nothing's wrong, k'uur... Just thought I was feeling a little under the weather, but I'm perfectly fine. It's nothing more than just making it up to you after waking you. Plus, for once, you won't have to patch your own wounds. Why not have someone take care of you the same way you take care of others?" It was the same thing he'd said to her at the end of their first of many interactions in this seedy little travel-hub. The time she'd undoubtedly saved Crosshair's life after he'd picked up a nasty little parasite while slogging through the swamps of some distant planet. Kashyyyk? It was probably Kashyyyk.
[____] was in a sour arrangement then with some smugglers with hair-trigger tempers to come and go as they pleased with her small clinic, and these Clones had been kind to remove the problem clientele "with discretion" as a way of paying her back. She'd saved their "stubborn vod". They saved her and now trusted her to treat their injuries no matter the cause, turning up at odd hours for the oddest of injury or malady. Complete faith in her in a hostile galaxy who now wanted… whatever it is they wanted with these Clones. She didn't ask. She didn't want to know.
She'd heard the stories from those who fled the war encroaching nearly every part of the galaxy. She'd heard of the war crimes, seen the horror and gore and bloodshed step into at least two of the medical centers she once worked in… known of an Order 66 and what became of much, if not all, of the Jedi… She didn't want to know. They often didn't want to tell, beyond giving vague recollections when they were making arrangements for short-term prescriptions for sleeping supplements with the medic when the nightmares were overwhelming.
Much like scouting the abandoned medical facility in an old mining boomtown for various 'sillin supplies, life seldom goes the way you wish.
"C'mere, ad'ika. Let's get you patched up." He patted the space beside him on the couch in invitation, pulling a medkit closer with the other hand all while looking at her with the same softness he often reserved for his sister. When [____] first met him, she could have sworn Omega was his daughter. "Unless you're not okay with that." Hunter added, addressing her hesitation he could hear in the rhythm of her pulse, her heart.
"I'm fine with it… just really tired and brain's kinda closing shop for the night. Sorry." Taking the seat indicated, [____] sunk back into the furniture, sighing. She didn't want to bring up why she was hesitating on him. He carried enough guilt as a participant in the old GAR… Hunter broke the seal on the new packet of medical tools, prepping everything he thought he'd need. "Don't be, ad'ika. Now, have you taken something for the pain already?"
"Rhetorical question for a medic, don't you think?" The tired, teasing question was met with a single chuckle. He knew she would have, he was just making small talk. "Anything else? Ask me if I'm taking any other kind of stim packs, or maybe I should lie about eating all my recommended fruits and vegetables?" It was a laugh from Hunter this time, deep and hearty and genuine from his chest.
"Are you?" Picking up a pre-moistened cleaning wipe from the little packet within the medkit, Hunter removed the sloppy wrappings around her dominant arm that [____] had applied before trying to call it a day and properly deal with everything in the morning. Dried smears of red lay underneath the gauze, something that made Hunter's gut drop slightly. Either she had done an uncharacteristically poor job cleaning her injuries, or these were more intensive than believed and they were slow-bleeders that hadn't scabbed over completely.
"Tck…Can't say I'm any better than most of my patients, if I'm honest." Hunter hummed slightly, gingerly blotting along the length of the mild laceration. It had to have been an unpleasant injury after losing all her emergency supplies and nothing to ease it right away until she stumbled back to her ship. It looked fairly deep to him, but couldn't be certain. "Mmh! That stings."
"'It's supposed to, little guy. Means it's working.' I swear Cross could have killed you with a look if the parasite wasn't actively killing him over being called a little guy like he was a kid."
"Ha-ha. Very funny, Tech." [____] half-heartedly mocked Hunter's sharp recollection of their first encounter, trying to stifle a coming yawn. That time felt so long ago now; longer than it actually was. "I was only trying to keep him calm and comfortable. I see a lot of children at my clinic so it's a habit I've de-developed… excuse me, sorry about that. People… don't exactly love doctors."
Hunter paused mid-blot, giving her a firm look to show her he was serious. Something in Hunter didn't like the way she'd said it, it didn't sit right with him. "Nonsense, cyar'ika. People love doctors; they just don't love going to them. Big difference. Trust me." Trust me like I trust you he wanted to say. He wouldn't. He believed it was mutually understood, no need for explicitly stating so (partly an old habit in thanks to how he communicated with many a vod during the war). "People…" Hunter tried further explaining, leaving out the "like us" he again believed didn't need to be said "...might be embarrassed, or fearful, or worried about going to the medic, but they understand they need to go because the medics will be able to make them better. They don't hate the doctor; they hate the doctor's office…" Hunter paused, digesting his own words with a questioning expression as he set aside the pre-moistened wipe, now soiled. "Now of course I think I just sound like I'm condescendingly explaining your own job to you."
"Heh. Don't worry about it. Too tired to care," the weary medic offered with a reassuring smile, leaning into the backrest of the couch with a slowing blink-rate. "I'm just more concerned about staying awake, while I'm the patient for once, for you."
For you. Something about it was unintentionally sweet to Hunter and made something within him flutter for a moment. That was happening a lot lately, every time he thought of her. He kept chalking it up to his enhancements and memories of the Kaminoans testing him and the others that remained of the experimental unit, the sharp sterility of antiseptic that lingered in her clinic and her clothing and her hair that sometimes turned his stomach, or simply a disconnected unfamiliarity with those who were not Clones… though, while perhaps he never felt truly connected with them and the way some called them the 'Sad Batch' (or called Omega a lab scabber) when they thought they could get away with it, they had still been his brothers in arms in the war.
A war they were still running from. One they nearly lost Crosshair to after 'things went screwy on Kaller' as Wrecker put it once. What an understatement… if Hunter hadn't been so insistent with the Shock Troopers down in the brig that the Batch stayed together to the point that they tased Hunter to shut him up instead of extracting Cross, then Crosshair likely would have been siphoned off to some corner of Tipoca City and had the activation of his inhibitor chip nudged along into unpleasant possibilities Hunter had nightmares about in addition to so many things he'd seen… done, during the Clone Wars. It'd been difficult, and he'd hated part of himself for it, but as they made their initial escape from Kamino, he threatened to stun Crosshair if he didn't kriffing shut up about following orders they didn't even understand for five minutes! so hard he wouldn't wake up until they reached the next star system.
There had been so much bickering. They still bickered even after Captain Rex got in touch with them, somehow, after they left Saleucami visiting the Lawquane family (which had been tricky and Tech worked the loophole that Crosshair could not report Cut for desertion because it had been the GAR when he went AWOL and now it no longer existed, it was the Empire now, right? half to death before Crosshair reluctantly let it be), and they got their chips removed in the rusted out shell of a Venator on Bracca and had been lured into a trap set by Tarkin back on Kamino. Because if Tarkin could not have this SpecOps force, nobody in the galaxy could; he'd aimed to wipe them out and they'd narrowly avoided being swallowed in the eternal seas of the closest thing they had to a homeworld.
It took a long time for the bickering to stop. They were at their throats for a while still until… Crosshair had gotten really, really sick.
That's what led to this friendship with a medic who had been willing to help them nearly a year ago. Though lately, it was feeling… different.
"Hey…" [____] broke the building silence while Hunter had been searching for a bacta patch, and Hunter initially worried he'd done something to tip her off to the personal burdens, the memories, he shouldered. "...weird question for ya, if that's okay."
"How weird?" Hunter tried, careful not to let the hesitancy and budding anxieties show in his voice. There's the karking things. He'd probably need a couple of them to make sure he had it covered so it would heal up nicely, quickly.
"Oh, not very. I just wanna pick your brain a bit."
Ah. Just curiosity. He affixed the first patch over the first half of the laceration, careful not to prod the bruised flesh with unnecessary pressure. "Alright, pick away."
"What is… your favorite memory? When you're having a bad day… what's the thing you think about that always cheers you up?"
"Heh… your day was really that bad that you're looking for advice from a soldier, doc?" Hunter teased, applying a second patch over the laceration. He wasn't sure what he could truthfully answer with while he was carefully measuring out a length of sterile gauze to hold the patches in place on her dominant arm, there being too many little, fleeting happy moments rather than significant memories to spin some story from. But he'd try. "I guess for me… it's less what I think of and more of what I do after a bad mission. Clean my gear. Tidy up my rack. Buff out my helmet-"
The medic smirked, a solitary, quiet laugh interrupting Hunter's train of thought.
Oh, Maker… he'd forgotten the suggestive context behind the phrase she often heard in the infancy of her profession in the midst of the Clone Wars. He'd heard she'd get the stray Clone on occasion at the large health center she was employed at once on a different planet but didn't know how much truth there was to it. "K'uur: that was not a euphemism."
That was met with a nervous giggle that made his stomach flutter. "S-sorry; old habits, and a non-professional setting where I can actually laugh." [____] offered meekly, face flushing with color while he wound the wrapping around her forearm. "C-continue, Hunter, please. 'Buff out your helmet' and...?" The unspoken what else on her tongue was permission enough to show she was serious about him continuing.
"And… check in with the others, I suppose. Make sure that everyone is okay. Spend time with them. Strengthen personal bonds."
A lot like what the two of them were doing now, he supposed. The unintentional check in. Taking care of her injuries while they sat side by side in the common room as the rest of the Batch were sleeping. Except maybe for Tech who often tinkered away on his datapad or the desk he'd squeezed into the room he shared with Wrecker (who wasn't bothered by a roommate with a propensity to dink around with some little gadget or piece of equipment when he was sleeping or resting) at these hours. Or Crosshair, who was often awake and asleep around the same times Hunter was, since they'd have muffled "conversations" through the walls when neither could sleep on occasion. But all was relatively still and quiet in each of his brother's rooms, and the steady rumble of the noise machine in Omega's room meant his sister was asleep.
Drumming rain and swirling waves. The perpetual ambiance of Kamino. He hoped the little machine replicating the soundscape engrained in her memories wouldn't cause her to dream of the Venator class ships bombing the cloning facilities tonight…
While Hunter had been lost in his senses, his worries, the medic had been busy mulling over his words. There was a ghost of a smile taking the place of the pained frown she previously bore. "That all sounds… really nice."
The last injury tended to, Hunter set everything aside and gave [____]'s shoulder a tender double-pat, feeling the tense muscles under his hand as he held his hand there after the friendly gesture. "There you go, ad'ika. All patched up."
"Thanks, appreciate the help Hunter. Could I… trouble you a little further by crashing here for the night? I don't think I'm in a fit state to get back home around now. Far, far too tired." It was definitely not a safe time for a woman to be walking by herself without a blaster, nevermind a tired, injured woman who'd been an invaluable friend to Clone Force 99. He'd never have sent her home to begin with, giving how deeply her chin dipped into her chest with fatigue. "No trouble at all; you're welcome to take my bed, if you want." Hunter offered, giving her shoulder a friendly squeeze. He'd sleep out here in the common room so none of his brothers would get any funny ideas if both he and the medic emerged from the smallest of all the bedrooms in the housing together.
Why the Sith's hells did he just think that?
[____] winced in mild complaint, laugh laced with pain. "Ow, that's quite a grip there, soldier!"
"Sorry," he apologized, "didn't realize how hard it'd be. You carry a lot of stress and tension in your shoulders, ad'ika… I can feel how stiff your muscles are. I… have some experience with providing some relief for that, thanks to all the practice I've had with Wrecker and Tech. Tech's posture is a mess-" He rolled the palm of his hand against her shoulder experimentally, gauging the pliability of the tensest muscle, and she leaned into it eagerly with a whimpering 'oh, Maker…!' surprising even herself. Hunter decided he'd stubbornly pretend not to imagine how not-so-innocent the sound was, to keep talking about his brothers and ignore the heat in his lower belly, another flutter of his heart. "Tech spends hours hunched over his datapad, or some little gadget, or spends hours in those rigid crash seats in the Marauder with his muscles wound so tight he's practically locked in place. Wrecker takes such a beating each mission it's just… uh,"
"A w-way of taking care of him afterwards?" She helped him where he faultured.
"Yeah. That's one part of it. Here, turn so I can get both shoulders." He had her melting under his touch quickly, the practically unhurried worship in this massage he was working into the medic's shoulders, neck, and the dominant arm. The muscles were so stiff and taut under her skin, under his ungloved hands. They were afraid to speak and break the reverence of this moment, the silent work of friend helping friend between each little involuntary sound of great relief or wince of brief pain as each tight, brow-bunching knot slowly surrendered. Her breathing pattern slowed as every minute elapsed between them beyond the gentle moans of relief as Hunter methodically kneaded the muscle free of tension with dexterous fingers. He wouldn't need to dig in so deeply like taking care of Wrecker's messes of well-defined muscle, for which he was grateful, to make any kind of progress, or go so tenderly to start with like he has to for Tech (on occasion) that the goggled Clone sometimes became a little impatient because he wasn't feeling any external relief. He could dip his fingers just a little deeper and just a little shallower, like those perpetual waves of Kamino replicated on Omega's sound machine, as he worked one muscle at a time for the unlikely friend who sat with him on the couch.
It felt roughly the same to strengthening the bonds of the squad to Hunter, but again there was that fluttering in his heart that suggested this was so very different when he realized that when he moved back to [____]'s neck one last time, at her asking, and planted one of his palms on the opposite side of her face to keep her steadied as he dug little circles around the tight muscles under the base of her skull with his thumb that she took one last deep breath and was soon asleep in half a heart's beat between them.
Hunter froze as he was, face hot in panic with the reality that he was now entirely supporting, for the moment, a female friend who was upright and asleep in his hands. Not knowing what to do just as the medic became more limp, he effectively locked himself in place when, on reflex, he caught her upper body against his before lowering it into his lap. A move he'd done a hundred times when one of the squad was this close to fainting out in the field.
Oh, you're kidding me… why the kriff did I do that?

As promised, since the overwhelming majority voted for wanting to see it, here is my Empires AU main post with all my current notes and thoughts:
Two Sons of Rivendell
(Title borrowed from the poem written for the ending of Empires season 1 by the wonderful @fishy-strawberries on their art blog floweroflaurelin)
AKA me realizing there's two plot relevant reveals of two characters being siblings in Empires 1 and thinking what if I switched them, so Scott and Xornoth get "Hold on now, we're siblings? How did we forget that?" And Lizzie gets "Wait, the demon is my brother?"
Summary:
Scott and Xornoth, rulers of neighboring elven kingdoms Rivendell and Erewyn, rediscover the tales of their people's old gods, Aeor and Exor. What memories have they lost along with the connection to their past?
Meanwhile, in the nearby Grimlands, salmon loving engineer fWhip starts having troubles involving a demonic cod creature. Who is this malicious stranger, and is he connected to Ocean Queen Lizzie?
In no particular order, some notes:
There aren't really just straight forward role swaps exclusively between two characters each, it's all a bit all over the place
I only watched six out of twelve perspectives (Jimmy, Joel, Lizzie, Pearl, Scott and Sausage) so I don't know if I'm missing anything but also it's not meant to be canon-compliant (but also means I don't know how to write the other characters)
This AU is fully falling into the trend of making fanon Jimmy much cooler than he is in canon, but I just think he deserves a proper villain arc (not counting the one he thoroughly failed at in season 2)
Actual story notes:
Xornoth identifies and presents as broadly male-adjacent, and uses he/they
Because there's no possible pun on "siblings" that could work as well as "Seablings" for the purposes of this AU, Scott and Xornoth will be collectively known as "The Twin Kings"
Xornoth's Empire Erewyn (name might be subject to change) is slightly down the mountainside from Rivendell, where it's a bit warmer than on the snow covered peaks (even without their gods, Scott prefers the winter and Xornoth the summer), and has shared borders with Rivendell, Crystal Cliffs, and the Lost Empire (small parts taken off each of those three, but mostly extends into the spawn area, I looked up a map for this so hopefully you get what I mean)
Erewyn exports enchanted books and offers services of custom enchanting for armour and weapons
The Ocean Queen, of course, cherishes all Ocean dwellers, which certainly includes, for most of their life cycle, salmon
Featuring Scott both as one of the Lost Siblings pair and as the guy who falls in love with the demon
Those two plot lines actually might interfere with each other, I cannot imagine Xornoth would be very fond of the idea of his friend/brother trying to date a demon and Scott probably wouldn't take it very well if Xornoth tried to talk him out of it, so it might put a strain on their friendship, but I don't care, it can't be anyone but Scott, I can't make it work with anyone but Scott (the only other option I can think of would be Sausage, and he's already allied with the demon in canon, I don't want him to be in this AU as well)
I'm gonna say Jimmy is also at least somewhat interested in Scott, because, well, he is kind of cute, for someone without any fins or scales, and why not? Some fun on the side, why shouldn't he? There should be more to life than just terrorising people, even for a demon
Farmer (and Fighter) Queen Pearl is far too exited about her new demonic sparring partner and the powers he's willing to share (just to make their matches more interesting, right? This surely won't corrupt her, nooo, how would it?) (Unlike with Sausage, here I actually do like the idea of Pearl still being in a somewhat similar to canon role, except cranked up to eleven to become the role of demon protégé)
Pearl is also involved in this AU's equivalent of the hostage exchange, the other side being Xornoth (Pearl started it by stealing one of Xornoth's owls, but I cannot think of who or what they would have taken from her in return)
Pix as the assassin in that storyline, I think, because it's really funny to me to think that the person who in canon is tracking people's deaths in this AU is causing people's deaths
Lady Katherine of House Blossom, Flower Mage Queen of the Overgrown, tends to what is known as the Memorial Garden
Lord Sausage of Mythland really just wants to be friends with everyone and is always advocating for peace
Xornoth and Shrub have this AU's equivalent of the Cod War (what would that be though? I'd appreciate any ideas)
Joey and Xornoth are the happy couple who had the big royal wedding, with Scott as Xornoth's best man, and officiated by Pearl
Joey also gets the role of the one who's in complete denial of anything demonic going on. Joey cares about two things, his beautiful builds and his beautiful husband, and that's it. Demon? What demon? There's no demon, why would there be a demon? The sudden surplus of cod make good food for the raptors, as such their unusual aggression goes almost entirely unnoticed, piles of slime are buried under dirt to form nice rounded little hills. He can't even see Jimmy during the big arena fight, just Pearl going mad for no apparent reason, like, what's up with her then? (Keep in mind that I have never in my life watched any of Joey's videos, I have not the first clue how to write him)
Who did Pearl build the arena with, by the way? Probably Gem, who starts out being somewhat complacent about the whole demon issue ("Oh I'm sure he's not that dangerous, he's hardly managed to hurt me, and anyways, he's got some very interesting abilities I'd love to study"), but after the big massacre finally realizes it's actually quite serious and also Pearl is clearly not herself and definitely needs help
Random thought, you know how manta rays swim like they're flying through the water? Jimmy flies like he's swimming through the air
Jimmy is short for Jimahinjao, although he doesn't go by that name anymore, and definitely only Scott is allowed to call him Jimmy
Lizzie is short for Lizmoa, which is already one of the shortest merfolk names, but she's always gone by Lizzie, except in situations calling for truly formal adress
I don't know if "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue" would necessarily apply to a gay wedding, but I kind of want it to in this case because:
I imagine Scott and Xornoth would have similar styles in terms of clothing and accessories, because it's a traditional elven style or because they're unknowingly brothers, who knows. The point here is Joey coming to Scott for 'something borrowed' and Scott going "Ohhh I can make your outfits match, that's gonna be so cute!"
Thus, the four items: an enchanted golden apple found with the help of Joel (because I didn't know what else he could provide), a pendant made of pixandrian copper (paralleling my interpretation of the amethyst Lizzie got from Gem as a necklace), an elven crown borrowed from Scott (matching Xornoth's), and a bouquet of blue orchids from the swamp outside of Mythland (paralleling the fact that in canon, the warped fungus came from the same place as the corruption)
Speaking of the swamp outside of Mythland, it is regarded as a dangerous and possibly haunted place and thus uninhabited (except for Jimmy, who is the reason people think it's haunted)
The crown Scott receives from Jimmy is a flower crown (as a nod to the for this AU rather unfitting official ship name of "Flower Husbands"). It's made from water lilies and has, beyond the mind control, two rather obvious magical properties. One: it doesn't wilt. Two: it's always slightly dripping. Mostly water, sometimes mud, rarely a bit of slime, but it's always dripping something. Scott still wears it anyways
Lizzie and Katherine get kidnapped by Pearl and Scott, and rescued by Joel, prompting that particular romance
As it will eventually turn out, Scott and Xornoth are twins (Xornoth being older by an hour, though there's no real way for them to find it out that exactly)
Xornoth reads in the library about an artifact he's pretty sure is related to the old religion he and Scott are continuing to learn about. The artifact in question is a black iron crown in the shape of a pair of antlers, to be worn by the royal representative of one of the two gods. They resolve to find this artifact.
Meanwhile, Lizzie, in a treasure chest she unearthed, finds what she thinks is probably an interestingly shaped piece of scrap metal. Maybe she can trade it to some fool for something else. Maybe for a channeling trident. She's been wanting one of those. Calling lightning at will sounds amazing.
The Crown™ is still forged by fWhip, and makes the rounds from Joel, who gets killed for it by Lizzie, who, while trying to give it to Shrub, gets it yoinked away by Joey, who gives it away via a treasure hunt which is then won by Xornoth, who gets it stolen by Gem, who creates a quiz for it that's won by fWhip, who gives it to Sausage, who puts on a contest in which Shrub then cheats and kills him to get it
The Ocean Queen gets storm powers that she needs to learn to control, she probably strikes Katherine with lightning by accident and subsequently flees to a deserted island to not hurt anyone else
While Lizzie is gone, fWhip steals the nautilus shell "Jimmy" has been sealed in, prompting her to return when one of her axolotls comes to tell her about it

Okay, so. Since I haven't posted this already, this is the main idea I had for DreamCycle before I start writing it:
Basically, DreamCycle is a DreamTale alternate in which, rather than both Nightmare and Dream being Guardians, they are instead appointed Gods, the sons of the original Gods. Other characters I imagined would be of similar origin in different fashion would be Ink, Error, generally just the OutCodes. I'm gonna dive into Sovereign Rift (SR), which is a variant of DreamCycle in which Nm and Dream are Kings, rather than just normal Gods protecting the sun and moon. In SR, rather than there being different universes which you can jump between, all the AUs are instead a whole bunch of neighboring countries. (Shhh it's not Empireverse. They were also all born out of the original Gods, such as Nim, who will be going under the alias 'Gaia' for this.)
(The main Gods in this case would be the parent of each respective God. YES, the CQ siblings are canon to this idea, so Geno, Fresh and Error all have the same creator-mom. Reaper has a dad. Ink has his adoptive caretakers because his actual mom is very dead, and very much THE CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSE????? like bro. OP much? Yada Yada you know this part)
The twins were created with their mother's magic and instructed to care for the country of Ignicia as their mother tended to separate places at the same time before falling ill to erosion. (The cause of that erosion is a plot point later on, so I'll explain that when I get to it.)
Nightmare and Dream were created with two separate elements, both needed to spark life. The warmth of the sun's rays and the waves of the water. Sun and Moon, created to rule day and night. Nightmare was a drop of the same energy he could control, water, a goopy little puddle, ice cold. Dream was a ball of hot, hot fire. The two were each given an apple at their birthplace, told that the magic-infested fruit would build them a body just akin to their mother's, who was a remnant of the tree of which the fruit had been plucked.
(This basically granted them the ability to freely switch between two forms: One based on the apple, a fire-like figure for Dream, and the usual goop for Nightmare and then their 'passive' states, being the one they usually used to not expend as much energy keeping their magic protection up.)
Dream, being only seconds older than Nightmare, was awarded the title crown prince. Despite his usual childish nature, he proved to be a good leader as they both grew. With their mother growing more and more absent as years passed by, they became forced to take the responsibilities of the kingdoms into their own hands. Nightmare was working hard at being Dream's right-hand-man, but struggling under the apparent distaste the people had for him. Dream was reveling in the glory of his throne, but often was crushed under the sheer weight of the heavy crown he was appointed.
The main plot point is the twist that during a friendly duel turned traitorous battle, there's the first 'incident'. But rather than Nightmare turning on Dream and slaughtering a village as what happens in the original universe, Dream lunges a spear lit afire right through his skull without thinking. Then he feels the most guilt he ever has within his life. It wasn't meant to hit him, it was meant to scare him. But now his brother was dusting hurting because of him, so he immediately took to trying to heal him like he usually did when they fought. Except Nightmare refused. He ran off, his skull becoming slathered in a gooey substance as his vision faded. He wound up back at his own temple, dunking his head in the healing waters of the moon, vowing to never forget the day.
Later the same year, he fled the country, instead gathering the castaways, the forgotten and the unwanted by the strict leaders of Dream's Empire Ignicia, creating his own nation: Oscuro, Kingdom of Darkness. Swallowed by evil. Nightmare would forever be an empty shell, only half of what was of his childhood self, but his Moon remained in a form which obscured his past and hid his hurt parts. This meant war.
Through the rubble of the war marched out many other separate neutral parties, either wishing for peace or for their own benefit through taking no sides of the large war.
Such include, for the Gods:
Geno, Omnipotence and Time
Reaper, Death
Error, Destruction
Ink, Creation
Fresh, Illusion (Parasitism)
Other third parties could include for example Swap (Revolution and revolt, justice) or characters like Cross and Orphic, but that's the main idea
The main leading plot points would be:
- The rebellion against the 'Universal Law' with humans not being able to talk to Gods
- Dream's obsession with power (Savior complex and narcissism that was engraved in him after being told he's this great ruler his entire childhood and needing to meet up with those standards, else he lose his purpose in life. Yeah, self-esteem issues who?)
- Nightmare's desire for revenge ("You're not my brother anymore" is def gonna be said at some point and I will undoubtedly cry.)
- The consequences of the war among the people and other nations (universes)
- Ink's non-emotional state and how it changes with time
- Error learning to discern right from wrong because he's a nervous, angry wreck throughout the thing
- The breakage of the "Universal Law" resulting in the tree being killed and Gaia nearly dying bc of it, instead burying herself underground until it became so much that the wilting tree's instinct turn on her own sons to absorb the magic that is being taken away because of mistreatment of the Gods
-Fresh's subplot of creating a whole cult of people he can feed off of through his parasite
- Geno's prophecy of doom because he's seen wayyy too much, poor boy needs a break
- Nightmare creating his own nation after leaving Dream's in reluctance to his rule and taking in refugees who don't think they're treated right (Nightmare's gang would be his highest ranked generals ofc)
I THINK THAT'S ALL. I spend a reeeeealllyyyy long time on this. But I'm excited about what you guys might think! Me and a close friend are working on starting the actual book so we might release an actual start to the story at some point, if ya'll want it <3333
Thanks for reading!!

being an older sibling is like. you've never known a life without me. mom yelled at me and it taught her she never wanted to yell at you. I painted my room purple and grey and then you did too. we live in the same house but I haven't spoken to you in months. I don't know your favorite color. I saw it was going to rain so I picked you up from school on my way home so your books wouldn't get wet. i was so worried when you woke up sick when you were three. you don't remember being sick. mom and dad made their worst mistakes with me and I'm glad they didn't make them with you. I'm doing everything for the first time so you won't be in the dark. I don't know any of your friend's names anymore. I used to know them all. if something happens to mom and dad you won't have to worry because everything will fall to me. you don't like to be home alone but even if you don't see me just knowing I'm there makes you feel better. at least that's what mom told me. you still give me jars to open for you because you can't quite get them. I only see you during dinner. i'd never even think about missing one of your concerts. I stand at the counter when I eat and now you do, too. when offered a selection of books you picked the same one I did when i was your age. I'm terrified you compare yourself to me. I love you. I don't know if you like me. I want you to. mom says dinner's ready
#as a youngest sibling with. a weird relationship with my older brothers this brings me. emotions#this house is cursed and we're all here together… See all

Can you explain your eswap Au please I’m a bit confused-
HII SORRY IM 8 HOURS LATE .
okay! so the eswap au is a season 2 empires swap. [@/cuuno made it!! ty tango :D]
the swaps are as follows:
fwhip and sausage
gem and katherine
jimmy and joel
lizzie and scott
joey and shelby
pearl and oli
pix and false
i personally play katherine, who now lives in dawn, is a pacifist and is part of a sun religion! i'm not particularly in the mood to go grab all the links to everyone's things BUT luckily!! if you go to @katherineofdawn, the pinned post has the links
now, i assume this question was because of the s1 eswap i mentioned yesterday?
the general gist of it all is that, because season 1 and season 2 are so connected, we needed a plotline for season 1 as well, in order to let fwhip's whole thing go on, and it influences false's place too, since what was once saint pearl has now become saint oli
therefore: welcome tooooo eswap s1!! scott is an ocean king trying to woo his neighbor, jimmy of mezalea, lizzie is an ice queen who learns she has a brother she never knew about, and then goes through a huge misunderstanding arc because the brother she realized she had was xornoth, but all her advisors and stuff were like ohh yes.. your brother king of mezalea... because she has TWO brothers. joel is embracing the shrek by living in a swamp. fwhip is neighbors with him and they love killing each other for fun. katherine and sausage are siblings now <- this is important to Me Specifically. oli is best friends with fwhip now. this can't go wrong in any way. gem is flowers :] its falseandria now.
any other questions id be happy to answer! please know all of season one is just "hey you know what would be funny" in the eswap discord and then everyone going hey. yeah

Scene I did my OCs in my AU, for their designs and anything, I thought it would be fair if each of the Donkey Kong Characters a redesign in my version. Some I design them will be the same but change it up a little bit.
Bio: Funky is the second youngest of the quadruplets. He was quite okay of not being King of Kongo Bongo Island because he would rather spend his time in the beach just surfing and would make a business in there as well. After the disappearance of his brother and father, Swanky and he kept it a secret from DK because they know DK was the only one who will take the throne.
He was childhood friends with Roxanne Kong and ever scene then they began to have a lovely relationship. By the time their 18, Funky and Roxane kinda spend the night together which ends up getting her pregnant. 9 months later, she gave birth to a son “Diddy Kong”. This made Her and Funky realize that they need each other by their side and got married and spent more time together. He is fine with going on adventures with DK but sometimes worry him. He been on an adventure with Diddy along with DK, Dixie and Cranky once, when the Snow Vikings attack *Tropical Freeze arc*
Funky owns a shop by the beach where he sells ice cold beverages and uses his plane to make deliveries to neighboring islands, He even works at a Mechanic Workshop organizing, fixing, and creating vehicles and owns a Weapon shop were DK and his friends have to get weapons to defeat K Rools strong army. He continues with helping the Kong Clan including his Brother and Son whatever The Kremlings got under their sleeve.
Appearance: Look like DK except, Red Polka Dot Head Bandana, Shades, Hair Band, Black Earrings, Bracelets, Tooth Necklace, Tank Top and Blue Swimsuit with Pink Flowers
Voice Actor: Kenna Thompson
Age: 31
Height: 6.5
Weight: 187 ibs

@tolkienocweek // day seven // the children of eomer and fealasse // laywyn
Joy in Water
Laywyn was the sixth child and the most ambitious. She desired power and autonomy and, above all, legacy. She was alike to her brother, Trygve, ageing similarly to the Dunedain and retaining her youth to the end of her life. After she came of age, Laywyn spent her time in the court of Gondor, as one of Queen Arwen’s ladies, learning statecraft and the workings of nobility.
After the skirmishes and battles with the Haradrim in the Fourth Age, Laywyn assisted in the peace treaty and negotiations with the ambassadors that had come to Gondor, lead by a Prince of a kingdom neighboring Harondor. By the conclusion of their visit, Laywyn had won his heart and he announced an upcoming marriage that would create a lasting peace between his kingdom, Gondor, and his lady’s homeland of Rohan.
The marriage was heralded throughout the lands as a sign of healing the divide of the Men of Middle earth. Laywyn’s marriage was fruitful, both in children and in fulfilling her ambitions. In time, she became Queen to when her husband ascended his seat, enjoying a period of unprecedented peace. But this was not to last. There were still many who were displeased with this foreign queen and her half-blood whelps, as well as those who disliked the influence of Gondor on their realms. Faced with treachery, both within and on his borders, the King retaliated by calling his people to arms and going to war with the rest of Harad. He denied military aid from his northern allies, stating that this was a matter for the Haradrim to deal with, but accepted the help of food and supplies.
The King spent the rest of his life fighting, losing his life on the battlefield along with most of his sons and daughters who were of an age to aid the war efforts. And so, though the war was won, and the Haradrim united in an empire, the likes of which have never been seen before, Laywyn lost her husband and all but three of her children; a daughter who had managed the military supplies and routes, and two younger children who had not yet seen even five years. She ascended to the throne as Sovereign, after her eldest daughter refused the throne, preferring to support her mother in administrative matters.
Laywyn ruled her empire for almost 160 years, choosing to abdicate at a similar time as Eldarion, with whom she shared friendship, and had maintained a correspondence all these long years. They had rejoiced when their plotting had succeeded, and the fostering of their children had resulted in strong bonds of love, as well as a marriage between their realms. Their shared grandchild, who would one day rule the reunited Kingdoms of Arnor and Gondor would have allies on all sides.
As with Trygve, there is much controversy surrounding Laywyn’s passing, over whether they were simply long-lived Dunedain or Peredhel. It is recorded in letters to her siblings, friends in the Gondorin court, as well as the testimony of her own children, that Laywyn had bid them farewell before she laid down to eternal sleep.

Ramble about WIPs, go:
You asked this on August 8, and it's Halloween now. I'm sorry I never answered before, but TBH the way you phrased that, and being on anon, made it feel kinda hostile I guess? Sorry.
(Anyway, this is in response to this.)
So, for months now my main WIPs have all been Back to the Future-fanfic related. This is very unusual, since I'd usually hold onto an interest/project for a month before moving on to the next one. Then I'd come back after a year or so.
So my current BTTF project is what I call the Royal AU. Basically, it is the year 1885. Marty is the heir to the Grand Duchy of Hill Valley, Doc is his personal tutor (who is also building a steam-powered time machine), Jennifer is a princess from neighboring Grass Valley, and Biff is Prince Frederick, who thinks the throne of Hill Valley is rightfully his.
Right now, I'm (trying to) post bits and pieces of it to A Royal Doctober as part of that challenge, but as of right now I have only two. But I have so much more lore than I've posted! Some of it's on my own website, but that's in progress too.
Some notes:
California is the California Empire, under the rule of the descendants of Emperor Norton. The Emperor is basically the "boss" of George II, Grand Duke of Hill Valley.
The leader of Hill Valley's parliament in 1885 is Amos "Goldie" Wilson. His rival, leader of the main center-right party in the grand duchy, is Gerald Strickland. In 1887, Biff will run as the leader of the far-right party. (I already have the election results--a lot of my projects involve fictional election results!)
History is generally moved back 100 years, and Europe and America's swapped. Europe is the "United States" and a single republic.
SPOILERS, BUT: What they don't know is that several timelines collided in what an agent of a multiversal time police called an "ontoclysm," and I think they might be trying to put them back. Which is a problem, since Marty has more siblings now and he'd very much like them to all exist. The task of the Docs--the AU's Doc von Braun and the canon Doc Brown--is to ensure all the timelines can exist independently.
I could keep going, but I'm being called away from my computer so I'm gonna stop now.
Have a great day! I mean it!

Some stuff about my Empires Superhero au
Jimmy, Shubble, and Scott think they’re all very good at hiding their secret identities, they are not, the people around them just aren’t looking for say sort of sign like that
Pix is actually good at hiding his identity
Witherrose Siblings with Gem and Fwhip as twins and Sausage as their younger brother (they also all have super powers)
Kathrine runs a flower shop and sells people’s secrets
Joey’s a reporter who Xornoth convinced would get much farther in his career if he put more details about the heroes and their locations in his articles, he was right but he had an ulterior motive
Pearl’s not a hero not a villain will still fight people in back allies though
Xornoth and Scott both have no idea that the other has a secret identity and with that neither of them know Xornoth tried and is trying to kill Scott
Joel is convinced that Heroes are sham to drive tourism
Gem, Fwhip, and Sausage’s mom was a hero and she was murdered
Joey and Shubble are next door neighbors
Joel and Lizzie are completely unaware that almost their entire circle of friends are heroes, not that Joel would believe in heroes
Pearl taught Sausage how to fight
Scott’s hero costume looks kinda like an other worldly ghost with the full face mask that gives away nothing, mainly white color scheme, high quality voice changer, and golden stag antlers on his head
Shubble has accidentally worn her Wolf Spirit mask out of her apartment while going to like run errands or go to work
Scott and Jimmy started dating in their civilian lives around the time they met as heroes and didn’t quite get along at first
Pix is the only hero who consistently has a braincell

Regenerate empire siblings neighbor au with the Empire Siblings (and a Cleric to cast the spell)
Surprised isn't the word to describe how Caleb feels when Beau asks him to stay. She's missing her fucking hand and instead of asking Yasha or Jester to stay with her, she looks at him and tells him, "You're not leaving."
Caleb wasn't able to stay no to her as a kid, with her big brown eyes and her shitty parents. He can do it now and does so frequently. But the fear in her eyes and the fact that she's asked almost nothing of him since they've been reunited makes him say, "Ja, of course."
Caleb sits down beside her, the opposite side of where her bandaged arm is. And like she hasn't in so long, she leans into his side, squeezing her eyes shut as Caduceus gently starts to undo the bandage.
Caleb tentatively wraps his arm around her, whispering words of comfort to her. "It's going to be over soon, just keep breathing."
Beau nods against his shoulder. But as Caduceus sets the bloody bandage aside, Caleb's heart stops. He can see her bone, he can see the layers of her flesh, jagged where it was cut off. For a moment his mind fills in context: Trent's snearing smile, crystals, scars, frozen towers, Beau's arms bleeding, bloody bandages, wounds Bren wishes were his instead.
But he shakes himself out of it, he can't lose it right now. Beau needs him to be strong, so he inhales the scent of antiseptic and forces himself to gain control. Beau's knuckles are white as she clutches his shirt with her good hand.
He continues to comfort her to the best of his ability as Caduceus slowly regenerates her arm. It's a long painful process, during which, Beau never moves from his side.
It reminds Caleb of a night so many years ago. Beau's parents had been out of town for a few days so Beauregard has been staying with him and his parents. She had been no older than eight and there had been a storm.
Since the walls of their small house were significantly thinner than the massive estate, she had never heard thunder that loud before. She had stayed tucked to his side for hours until the storm passed.
When Beau's arm is finally back to normal, her skin smooth and soft, she lifts her head from Caleb's shoulder. She doesn't say it, but she knows she is grateful for his company and support. He just smiles and squeezes her hand.

AU ask gaaaaaaame!!!!
16. BobaDinLuke
16. Brand New Neighbors AU
[Prompt List]
Boba wants to like his new neighbors. He really does.
They've been polite and friendly when he's met them— which, alright, he hates polite and friendly people, but at least they're not straight-up bitches like the last couple that lived next to him— and they've got a veritable garden of herbs growing on their balcony, which means they're constantly giving him spices, and they even brought over soup that time he was sick, complete with a card from their two-year-old. (He hung the scribbles up on the fridge. Hey, he doesn't get a lot of cards.)
But he's going to fucking kill them, because the one thing they aren't is quiet.
The mornings he gets— small kid, daycare, morning rush, etc. He gets it. He grew up with about a million siblings. Besides, Boba is an early riser by default, so it doesn’t bother hm much. Hell, he even gets the evenings. Cooking dinner, finishing up work, getting the kid in the bath and to bed— none of those are particularly quiet activities.
Which is all to say that Boba is a forgiving guy. He likes them. He gets they have a small child. He's not about to complain about things he can't control.
But this is the third saturday night this month that his peaceful routine of horrifically cheap beer and UFC has been interrupted by their very, very loud sex, and he's just about fit to hit something.
One of them moans— Luke, he’s guessing, though it’s a bit annoying that he can tell— and Boba groans, contemplating smashing his face into a couch cushion. He’s happy that they still have a great sex life, but he’d be a whole lot happier if they shut the fuck up.
There’s a second of blessed, blessed silence, and then an “Oh, god, fuck, yeah, right there” comes through the walls, and Boba is faced with the exhausting realization that he’s either going to have to yell at them through the wall or endure at least another hour of this, since the TV volume won’t go up any higher.
Boba chooses the lesser of two evils (for him, that is— not for them) and pounds his fist on the wall twice before yelling. “Be quiet!”
“Oh SHIT!” He hears— Luke again, probably— and then a suspiciously long silence, and then a minute later, there’s a knock on his door. Boba sighs. So much for a good relationship with the neighbors.
He’s expecting one of them to be there when he opens the door. He’s not really expecting the… everything else.
Both of them are there, clothes askew and smelling of sex. There’s the beginnings of a mouth-shaped bruise at the collar of Luke’s loose tank top, and Din’s hair looks like someone has been grabbing it.
Shit, Boba thinks, because he just made the very, very, dangerous mistake of forgetting they’re hot.
“We are SO sorry,” Luke says, genuine and earnest as he steps in front of his husband. “The walls at our last place were a lot thicker and—“
“It’s fine,” Boba says, both because it is (so long as they stop), and because he is empirically not fine enough to carry on this conversation normally. If he’d known he’d have to contend with Luke’s very, very red mouth, he would have covered his ears and shut the fuck up and maybe written them an anonymous note the next morning.
“We are SO sorry,” Luke repeats, and this time he’s a little closer and Boba, unfortunately, knows exactly what he sounds like when he comes and— there’s a part of him that’s screaming to slam the door before he can do anything more embarrassing, and another part of him that is screaming at him to do something before he slams the door.
“It’s fine,” Boba says gruffly. “Really.”
“Okay, well—”
Boba shuts the door. He is not soliciting them for sex. He isn’t. He’s going to have a cordial relationship with them, and he’s never, ever, ever, going to think about the fact that he knows what both of them sound look like when they’re sex-drunk and still half turned-on. It’ll be fine. It’ll totally be fine.
(At least he keeps telling himself that.)

So I follow MANY interactive fiction blogs and I just have to say that you're my favorite by a long shot because I just love answers that you give in response to hypothetical scenarios and AU's for your characters. Like you actually put in effort and give well-thought out answers, so I thank you for that. As for AU's I have one of my own if you don't mind please. What would be the RO's for a murder mystery a la Cluedo? Bonus points that they can't leave the mansion for extra chaos. Thank you!
Ah, thank you so much for your kind words! 💖 I'm lucky to be a part of such a great community of talented creatives and kind, genuinely awesome people! Interacting with readers is such a pleasure, even if I do fall behind on messages and such I'm so sorry
I'm in North America, so I was genuinely like "what on Earth is Cluedo" gkljglfdjgd only because it's called Clue where I'm from! But I, uh, never played it, so I'm just going to go off of my knowledge from Knives Out 😂
SETTING: a Southern Gothic mansion in an undisclosed location, owned by a woman only referred to in jest as The Autarch by her adopted children. It is a stately manor, richly furnished and glittering with wealth, though imposing and dark-windowed during storms.
CONTEXT: a powerful and wealthy tycoon referred to only as "The Autarch" or "The Iron Lady" was once feared across the country for her ruthless business dealings and formidable empire. In her middle age, a mysterious experience and the sudden death of her husband caused her to have a change of heart, abruptly abandoning her empire to her only son and devoting her life to adopting six orphan children. However, stopping her business dealings did not completely change her personality: she was a hard, unforgiving woman, and her relationships to her children (now all grown) can be described as "strained" at best.
In her declining age, the lonely Autarch in her high mansion somehow came to befriend a psychic by the name of Mimir of the Silver Eye. Only the servants were witness to what was said between them, and even then, they never had the full story. The most that anyone knew was that the Autarch began to express more interest in resuming her business activities again, to the disconcertion of her only biological son, Enik, who had helmed the empire on his own for the last twenty years. Meanwhile, Mimir moved into the mansion to keep her older friend company, and to help advise her on matters both business and personal.
One stormy night, the Autarch calls all 7 of her children back home in order to discuss matters of great importance, including her decisions about her will. Some came eagerly, and others with great reluctance--there were arguments had that were years in coming, and there were private talks between siblings who hadn't interacted in years. But the matter that the Autarch was keen to discuss was postponed: the storm knocked out the power in the mansion, and all turned into bed, sleeping fitfully in rooms they'd abandoned decades earlier.
They never discovered why the Autarch had called them to their old haunting grounds, either, for in the morning, she was found with a knife buried in her heart.
CHARACTERS:
- Riel Syndran. A world-famous private detective and consultant famed across the world for his ability to solve any mystery, no matter how old or tangled. He is known for being comfortable with ruthlessly manipulating interrogation subjects and suspects in order to extract the truth and solve his case no matter what; this obsession and willingness to massage the rules--although he claims the truth is his only goal, above all other things--is what makes him unsuitable for conventional police work, but his results speak for themselves. He arrives on the mansion's doorstep mere minutes after the Autarch is found murdered and is claimed to have been hired by an anonymous party, casting suspicion on his timing and the pre-planned nature of the death. His signature move is being recognized by various people as "the detective who solved the Apple Killer case" (or some other famous case of his) and replying in irritable tones that it was actually "the Orange Killer case, but you were close". He abhors smoking and has doctorates in body language analysis and psychology, as well as a law degree, and is gifted with a photographic memory. He picks invisible lint off of his sleeves while he thinks.
- Blade Bronwyn. An FBI agent (think Agent Cooper in Twin Peaks) who has been in the town of Old Haven investigating a string of serial killings across the country. He hears about the murder of the Autarch from the local police and arrives at the manor a mere hour after they were alerted, keen to investigate the murder as part of his ongoing case. He plays the straight man to Riel's more eccentric detection methods, and is seen more as a serious, by-the-books rule-follower determined to get answers. The suspects in the manor find him to be emotionally-insensitive, blunt, and grim-faced. He has a better sense of smell and sight than Riel does, as well as more combat experience, and is the only person in the manor acknowledged to be carrying a weapon. He takes his coffee black and very strong.
- Enik Goldenson. The Autarch's only biological child and the oldest. He was granted full control of her holdings and business empire when she retired in order to focus on raising her new family. He has made his disdain of his adopted siblings very clear, not least because he resents having to share his future inheritance with them. He has historically been a bully and cruel towards his mother. Rumor had it that he was once studying to become a priest. He has avoided returning to the mansion ever since Trouble knocked his lights out at fourteen years of age. He was once briefly engaged to fellow heiress Lavinet Naveen, who eventually spurned him, finding him "repulsive." He has the most bad blood among anyone in the family and is considered one of the prime suspects in the Autarch's murder, as it was possible that she may planned to cut him out of the will. Blade places his suspect status as RED while Riel believes he is at an ORANGE: Enik may be far too clever to kill his own mother under such suspicious and bloody circumstances.
- Trouble Alder. The first of the Autarch's adopted children, he was once an urchin running a street-fighting racket on the streets of New Haven. He was nicknamed Trouble for his surly temper and quick ability to get into fights and settle things with his fists, necessitating being sent off to a military boarding school in an effort to curb his violent tendencies as a teenager. He is extremely protective of his other adopted siblings, and while he resented the Autarch in his youth, he has begrudgingly come to respect her more for taking him in as an adult. He now works as a decorated sniper in the military and is working to earn his pilot's wings. The revelation that he kept military weapons in his room casts suspicion on him as a murder suspect, though Riel quickly dismisses him as not being a good enough liar to get away with it.
- Tallys Ironwood. The second of the Autarch's adopted children, she made her hatred of the old woman very well known, and had an even poorer relationship with her than Enik did. Tallys's parents were victims in an accident caused by one of the Autarch's manufacturing plants, and she has always felt that her subsequent adoption was mere lip service to atonement for the Autarch, while she would have rather stayed with her more impoverished aunts and uncles. She ran away multiple times in her youth and has not spoken to the Autarch since she was 18. Her overt hatred and reluctance in coming back to the mansion casts suspicion on her as a murder suspect. She has a degree in plant science and works as an environmental activist, particularly targeting products and campaigns by Enik's company, creating unspeakable friction between them.
- Ayla Aescar. The third of the Autarch's adopted children, nothing is known about her biological parents. She was adopted from a neighboring country and has since returned to it as an adult, making an effort to reconnect with her origins and culture. Her relationship with "the old woman," as she calls her, was more neutral, though it comes out that the Autarch frequently bailed her out in secret whenever Ayla ran into trouble, such as trespassing on Jalis government grounds. Nominally, she works as a photographer for a travel magazine, but secretly, she is an investigative photojournalist looking into various covert practices by the Jalis government. This brings up a question of whether the Autarch's killing was political, and whether it was actually meant for Ayla.
- Chase Trinaeste. The fourth of the Autarch's adopted children, it's joked that he was intended to replace Trouble when he was sent off to boarding school due to having a more charming personality and sweeter face. However, he ended up being the most troublesome one of the bunch, having multiple run-ins with the law from a young age and displaying various tendencies towards larceny, grand theft auto, and more. He had no shame about stealing and pawning off valuables from the mansion and was a well-known skirt-chaser, leading to constant stress in their household about what he was getting up to when he snuck out of the house at night. At eighteen, he disappeared from the mansion, and no one has heard from him in the intervening years since. He completely ducks any questions from Riel or Blade about what he does for a living, leading most to conclude that he has gotten himself deeper entrenched in the criminal underworld. This has cast obvious suspicion on him and his involvement in the murder, as he was known to steal from the Autarch herself. He seems to feel some measure of loyalty and possibly remorse towards his adopted siblings, but hides it well under a polished veneer of charm and casual swagger.
- Briony Stormbreaker. The fifth of the Autarch's adopted children In a dramatic fashion, she was discovered as a young child swept away in a huge flood caused by a storm, with no ability to communicate (or seemingly remember) anything about where she could have lived or who her family was. She was subsequently adopted by the Autarch and is one of the few who had a fairly good relationship with her, always expressing gratitude for giving her a home and family (though this brought her into conflict with siblings like Tallys, as she usually tried to defend the Autarch when she wasn't there to speak for herself). She was the sibling who always tried to unite the others, and their constant arguments and conflicts constantly broke her heart. She was an easily-upset child who tended to be babied by Trouble and Chase, but after constantly bullying from Croelle and Enik, she toughened up and began taking martial arts classes, abruptly displaying her own ferocious temper and violent streak as well as unusually powerful physical strength. She currently works as a passionate public prosecutor. She was heard conversing with the Autarch privately with raised voices, on the night of the murder, and is known to sleepwalk during violent storms. She even had a phase with an imaginary, sword-shaped friend as a child, as well as repeatedly claimed that she's seen ghosts in the manor. This perceived paranoia has led some to wonder whether she could have harmed the Autarch in her sleep. As Riel says, "It's always the nice ones." Blade: "Not in my experience." Riel: "Not in mine, either, but in some continuity, it must be true."
- Croelle. The last of the Autarch's adopted children. He was by far the most anti-social and troubled part of the family, refusing to speak to those he deemed beneath him and breaking Trouble's arm in a disturbing display of dominance as youths. Unlike Enik, his cruelty is more ruthless and matter-of-fact, the way an animal might treat another animal, rather than pointed and manipulative. Regardless, he was a terror to all of the other siblings, and he was eventually thrown in juvenile detention (and later prison) for killing members of a gang, seemingly in self-defense. However, he never cared to divulge the full details of the story, and has been serving his sentence ever since. No one besides the Autarch knew that he was coming until they arrived at the manor. Croelle claims that he and the Autarch had been exchanging letters for the last few years, and that he has begrudgingly allowed her back into his life, which was why she decided to invite him to this gathering upon his release from prison. However, there is currently no evidence that any such letters exist. As an adult, he is currently quieter and more mellow and has shown no particular proclivity towards violence, but there is always a sense of danger lurking in his eye regardless. His social skills have not improved by much. He is considered one of the absolute top suspects for the old woman's murder. His feelings on his adopted siblings or really anything are extremely unknown. He keeps asking everyone about free will, which annoys everyone except Riel.
- Shery Acquell. A longtime maid for the Autarch and one of her closest friends and confidantes. She alone has been caring for the Autarch in her declining health, ensuring that she has been receiving the proper medical care and dietary attentions, and even reading her books in the evenings. Their closeness has led some to speculate that the Autarch may have bequeathed a part of her inheritance to the maid, or that perhaps Shery was motivated to ingratiate herself to the Autarch to attain said inheritance. She was the last person to see the Autarch before her death, knows something about what transpired between her and Mimir, and ultimately reluctantly admits that she believes in the ghosts that Briony has seen, too.
- Halek Prince. The manor's live-in chef. He is one of the few non-family members staying in the mansion the night of the murder, and suspicion is cast on him when his cooking seemingly gives Ayla, Briony, and Red an allergy attack, leading some to posit attempts at poisoning. Mimir claims to have seen him in places where he shouldn't be or even couldn't be, and he is generally someone viewed as a good suspect for the murder. Riel thinks something else is going on here.
- Red Antiqua. Ayla's journalist partner who accompanied her to the mansion, partly to serve as a buffer for the family awkwardness and partly because he was curious to learn more about the reclusive Autarch. Nominally, he is a travel writer, but secretly, he is working as the same kind of investigative journalist that she is. His secret photographs of the manor prove to be a key piece of evidence in uncovering the murder suspect. He is forced to be confined to the manor, the same as everyone else, to prevent information leaks or runaways. He uncovers a secret doorway in his room and is too curious not to duck into it...
- Caine Tavadon. The son of the manor's groundskeeper, he is often seen with his dog, peeping into the windows of the manor because he's incorrigibly nosy. His witness statements lead Blade and Riel to key footprints on the grounds. He claims to have seen a strange figure staring down at him from the windows of the mansion before.
- Prihine Naveen. Enik's current fiancee, she accompanied him on this odious visit to his mother's manor and is a witness in the proceedings. Although they can barely tolerate each other, their shared ambitions for wealth and power keep them together as a polite though distant couple. A file in the Autarch's study reveals that she has been watching Prihine for some time and discovered that she was having a secret affair. The file indicates that she planned to tell Enik face-to-face, leading others to speculate that Prihine may have murdered the old woman in order to preserve her engagement. Enik remarks that there was a period of time where Prihine was not in bed.
- Lavinet Naveen. Prihine's older cousin, and Enik's ex-fiancee. They've technically known each other since they were children and were schoolmates at the same prestigious institution. The Autarch and Lavinet's father initially had designs to marry the two to forge a powerful alliance between their business empires. However, Lavinet quickly backed out of the engagement, finally admitting that she couldn't stand Enik and would never marry him. Although this has generally caused relations between the two families to become frosty, she has strangely remained on good terms with the Autarch herself, who always admired Lavinet's chutzpah and steely will. (This was just another reason for Enik to hate his own mother.) Lavinet was free to come and go to the manor as she pleased, and dropped in on the Autarch once every few months, as her family's manor is nearby. She only recently discovered that her own cousin, Prihine, is now engaged to her ex, and rushed over on the night of the murder in order to dissuade Prihine from the marriage or convince the Autarch to put a stop to it. This led to a four-way argument (between Lavinet, Prihine, Enik, and his mother) of epic proportions, meaning that Lavinet is not clear on suspicions of murder, either.
- Mimir. The psychic who somehow came into contact with the Autarch and began to convert her to the ways of the supernatural. She has been the Autarch's closest friend and confidant for months, even going so far as to move into the mansion. Many point out the obvious designs on the Autarch's inheritance and possible sinister intentions for taking advantage of the older woman, especially since no one but Shery knows what Mimir has actually advised the Autarch to do. However, Riel points out that there has been no traceable financial irregularities when it comes to Mimir; the Autarch doesn't seem to have paid her for her services, only providing Mimir with food and a roof over her head. The psychic speaks in extremely cryptic tones and lapses into trance-like states. Riel in particular scorns her for her supposedly psychic abilities, insisting that she is a fraud, until she comments on aspects of his past that no one could possibly know, shaking him. She is a prime suspect for the murder until it's discovered that Mimir insists on being locked into a windowless room, only being released by Shery in the morning, to protect herself from the ghosts that haunt the grounds...

Bad End AU
This thing is eating my brain at present and I still don’t have a fully fleshed-out plotline for it yet but I have a lot of things that I want to explore and it’s very likely it won’t happen in order after I get through the opening sections, so consider this a masterlist of what to expect down the line.
(Please note that the list is in flux, not all events are necessarily in order, and things may be added as ideas occur; also, feel free to ask if there’s something you want to see discussed more)
The Fall of Fodlan
Claude is defeated at Derdriu; Edelgard chooses to kill him, and Byleth makes the blow
Hilda, who had been holding her own, fights her way to Claude too late; before she can take Edelgard out, Byleth strikes her down, too
Nader takes a small party from the Almyran fleet back to the Derdriu harbor with the intent on bringing Claude’s body home; on finding they’re still alive, both Claude and Hilda are evacuated back to the fleet
Claude comes to while in transit back to Almyra; he and Hilda talk about the battle and the future
On reaching the Almyran harbor, Nader flies to the capital to inform the king and queen; both immediately rush to their son’s side
Nader takes a small contingent of Almyrans to the Locket to kidnap Holst, who is in bad shape after hearing about Hilda’s death at Derdriu, and bring him to the capital to reunite him with his sister
Edelgard executes Dimitri at Tailtean and proceeds to Fhirdiad; news of the king’s death reaches Almyra only after Fodlan has already fallen
United Adrestia: Years 1 - 2
Claude opts to take an advisory position in Almyra, rather than challenging his father for the throne.  Since she’s technically supposed to be dead, Hilda stays with him in Almyra.
Following in Judith’s footsteps, Claude begins to organize an information network that extends into Fodlan, and contacts Ignatz to act as a key source within the Alliance.
Dorothea moves into the Enbarr palace with Edelgard; Ferdinand assumes the role of Prime Minister advising the Empress; Lysithea and Hanneman begin research into Crests in hopes of finding a way to restore Lysithea’s shortened life; Petra remains in the Empire as a representative of Brigid’s interests.
Despite Edelgard’s high expectations, efforts to oppose the Agarthans are hampered by limited information and unrest throughout the conquered territories.
Edelgard attempts to ally with Almyra in hopes of securing the aid of their military to keep the peace in the former Alliance territories; her treaty is soundly rebuffed by the king and queen.
Edelgard receives the response from Almyra and is significantly less than pleased, but leaves the Imperial messenger unscathed.
Left to enforce the peace by her own means, Edelgard redirects Hanneman and Lysithea’s research away from Crests, assigning them to work with Linhardt toward more direct measures to support the Empire.
Seeing no other recourse, Edelgard reveals to her allies that there is another threat in the shadows, Those Who Slither in the Dark, shaking their confidence and shattering their trust.
Rumors begin to circulate in the former Kingdom territories about a living Blaiddyd heir; Hubert sends agents to investigate and deal with the issue.
The same rumors reach Almyra, prompting Claude and Hilda to infiltrate the Kingdom on a covert investigation.
While exploring the former Gautier territory, Claude and Hilda stumble across Ashe and Annette, along with a group of old Kingdom loyalists and a teenager named Nika who looks shockingly like Dimitri.
Hubert’s agents launch a surprise attack, during which the child’s Major Crest of Blaiddyd flares; with solid evidence in hand, Claude offers them all refuge in Almyra.
On reaching Almyra, Claude adds several key conditions to the terms of their asylum, which the Kingdom loyalists are forced to comply with for Nika’s safety.
United Adrestia: Years 3 - 7
Nika begins training under Claude, Hilda, Ashe, and Annette in a broad variety of subjects, ranging from diplomacy to horseback riding to weapons handling.
Hubert continues struggling to root out the Agarthan threat, a task made more difficult by the limited information available to him and the unfavorable conditions in the Empire at large.
Caspar is tasked with keeping the peace in the original Imperial territories while his father is charged with enforcing Adrestia’s rule in the former Alliance.
Ferdinand continues to challenge Edelgard regarding her plans for reform and equality in the expanded Empire, attempting to prioritize the needs of the people over the hunt for the Agarthans.
Bernadetta begins to withdraw despite Edelgard’s firm insistence that she appear at the capital to offer counsel.
Lysithea reaches out to Edelgard directly regarding her reduced lifespan; the Empress dismisses her worries as an Agarthan lie, given that she was never told the same.
Dorothea moves out of the Enbarr Palace, too dispirited by the state of the Empire and the truth of Edelgard’s deception to bear living beside her in silence.
Wary of the inevitable problem the surviving Blaiddyd might become, Hubert sends assassins into Almyra to deal with Nika; none return thanks to Claude and his parents.
Lysithea, realizing that her time is growing short, prepares her will and informs Lorenz of her plans to bequeath the Ordelia territory to him; in response, he tries to find some way to extend her shortened life.
Ferdinand finally exhausts Edelgard’s patience; he is dismissed from the position of prime minister and “reassigned” to govern Hyrm as his late father did before him.
Lysithea passes away; the remaining three Golden Deer meet following the funeral to discuss the state of things under Imperial rule, and Lorenz despairs that he chose the wrong side in the war.
Nika approaches his mentors to ask about Dimitri, the half-brother he never knew; he asks, too, about Edelgard, and though Hilda, Annette, and Ashe speak viciously against her, Claude is calm and reasoned in his criticisms, giving Nika deeper insight into the qualities of a good leader.
United Adrestia: Years 8 - 12
Under mounting pressure from the old Kingdom loyalists tasked with his tutelage, Nika copes by spends increasing amounts of time with Claude, which proves invaluable for both his training and his mental health.
Lorenz makes frequent visits to the former Ordelia territory to oversee and manage affairs, putting him in contact with Ferdinand in the neighboring Hyrm territory across the river; the two begin to meet and talk regularly.
Dorothea attempts to coax Bernadetta out of hiding in the Varley Manor as often as she can; she gets no response directly, but occasionally finds a new picture or embroidered plush as proof that her friend is still there.
With conditions in the Empire worsening due to heavy taxation and growing famine, Hubert pulls Petra into assisting him directly with the Agarthan threat; as she is still a political prisoner in truth, she has no choice but to comply.
Upon careful review of several documents left by Dimitri, coupled with Ashe’s and Annette’s recollections, Claude reaches out to Ignatz and asks him to deliver a message to Dorothea.
Despite her low spirits after performing the Empress’ Opera, Dorothea is overjoyed when Ignatz approaches her and readily invites him in, sharing seemingly incidental details of the former Black Eagles’ lives before Ignatz relays the missive Claude had sent.
Having Claude’s oath in writing that her actions will never be revealed, Dorothea agrees to help and returns to the Enbarr Palace, removing a document related to the Arundel family history from the archives and passing it to Ignatz.
With the document in hand, Claude finally manages to put the missing pieces together regarding Dimitri and Edelgard’s shared history, and confirming that the Empress killed her step-brother at Tailtean.
On the eve of Nika’s 24th birthday, Claude reminds him that the choice of whether to return to Fodlan or not is one only he can make: he’ll be an adult by Almyran law the next day, so no one can force him to go if he doesn’t want to.
Nika decides to return to Fodlan; Claude challenges his father for the right to accompany Nika as Almyra’s ambassador and leader of their allied forces.
The Fall of the United Adrestian Empire
The Almyran army breaches Fodlan’s Locket with help from Holst, then proceed to cut off the Empire at Myrddin before they can mount a defense.
Lorenz allies with Claude and takes over the defense of Myrddin with help from Hilda; Claude and Nika proceed north to recapture Derdriu and upset the Empire’s power center in the former Alliance.
Making their way west from Derdriu, Claude and Nika enter the Kingdom territories; with Ashe and Annette’s help, Nika begins to rally the Kingdom loyalists in the far north.
The Kingdom forces make their way to Fhirdiad, growing larger with every town they pass through; riots erupt in the capital when the Blaiddyd heir arrives, overwhelming the Imperial forces stationed there.
Nika claims the right to rule by virtue of his Major Crest of Blaiddyd and ascends the throne of Faerghus, taking Areadbhar in the process.
Pushing south, Nika and the Kingdom army force the Imperials back to the original border between Faerghus and Adrestia.
Claude and the Almyrans make their way east to Myrddin and reunite with Lorenz and Hilda; both armies proceed toward Enbarr.
The Kingdom and Alliance forces converge in Varley territory, meeting only cursory resistance; Raphael finds Bernadetta locked in the Varley manor and manages to coax her out.
On reaching Enbarr, Claude reveals the sibling relationship between Edelgard and Dimitri, branding her as a kinslayer for executing her brother at Tailtean and sowing turmoil through the Imperial capital.
Edelgard refuses to forfeit her claim on her conquered territories, leading to a battle within the Enbarr palace; she is eventually defeated and subdued.
With the Alliance territories conquered by Almyran forces and her claim to Faerghus tainted by the blood of her brother, Edelgard is forced to cede both holdings and old borders are re-established.
Edelgard is further forced to abdicate the throne in favor of a successor; while her heir’s training is not yet complete, Claude recommends Ferdinand be reinstated as Prime Minister and advisor to the throne.
Nika returns to Faerghus to start rebuilding; Claude leaves Lorenz in charge of the Alliance territories, citing Almyra’s hands-off style of governance, before returning home to challenge his father for the throne.

Tag Tuesday - First Fic
I thought it was only fitting that the first Tag Tuesday should feature the "My First Fic" and its related tags.
I think, in retrospect, writers tend to look back on our first works and cringe, but I also think there is a lot of love, joy, enthusiasm, and beauty to be found in first fanfics. The whole process back then was new and exciting, and I remember having a kind of almost manic energy and excitement while writing my first fic that I've never been able to recapture since then. So lets take a moment to shed some love on some of the fandoms' first forays into writing fanfiction!
Was your first fic in the Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons universe? Send it our way! We'd love to see them!
