@randomnameless replied: you never heard the french narration !
oh boy, is it actually bad?
@2goldensnitches replied: Zelgius is still memetic lol i always get a kick out of him. I also prefer its animation to the fódlan games’
Zelgius may be memetic, but Ranulf is iconic. 😎
my favorite voiced meme from RD tho is “Foooorrrrm up! Surrouuund them aaaall! Don’t let a single one escape!”
#randomnameless#2goldensnitches#also I still stand by that I prefer Shinon's voice in RD to Heroes#before he was in Heroes I was talking a few times about how I wanted his VA to return#and realistically I knew that would've happen bc like... would they rly call back a guy for a character that#they had voice him for only a few quick lines all those years ago#BUT TO ME IN MY HEART THAT IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE HIS ONE TRUE VOICE#kinda like how Jason Adkins is still Ike in my heart bc that's the Ike I grew up with#and it wasn't like what they do with Heroes these days where a single VA might voice#a main character and like five other characters. he only voiced Ike so it was like...#you hear his voice and you can attribute it immediately to one character#I've always preferred the idea of main characters having a VA that didn't voice a bunch of side characters#like maybe one or two like Chris Hackney has since he voices Boey and Cuan#but when he speaks his voice is attributed most to Dimitri which is why I think it's best to keep some VAs to the big guy#also Ike's little accent was cute and it's still weird in 2022 to hear anyone else voicing him fjsakghdhg#I don't dislike Greg Chun and he's a super cool dude. I've been around him a few times on Twitch#bc he just randomly pops into fellow VA's streams and hangs out for a while and responds to people#I'm just stubborn and grew up with Jason Adkins voicing Ike so it's always sounded right to me#speaking of I wonder if they'd keep his lines instead of redubbing them if they ever did a remaster for these guys#like if they even just ported them to the Switch or next gen console#I'd hope they'd keep Adkins and financially it'd be cheaper to... not hire a popular and probably expensive VA to redub#but also then everyone who didn't grow up with Adkins would get to hear Ike's original voice!#this has like nothing to do with this post but this is what happens when I talk abt Tellius or FE4#the tags just become a life of their own and they go on and on and on and on and...#DCB Reply

Feel free to ignore this… but any further (descriptive) thots on what the first time Ari calling reader Mrs Levinson would be like?!
I just can’t get the thot of tender love making out of my brain after reading the 3+1!
Please no pressure at all! Just wanted to let you know how much this Ari lives rent free in my brain 😵‍💫💙
Ari Levinson x bestfriend!Reader (now wife) from Bedrock and Blueprints series
woah. so. good lawd, i got all up in my own feels for a while and shrank my world down to just reader and this guy:
Tumblr media
An expansion of the the last part of this. Warning for sexy times in the most loving way. MINORS DNI. WC 1.3k
A/N: holy sh*t. don't @ me if you hate this and hate terrible puns because 🙈 idk what happened...
Tumblr media
Your relationship keeps evolving.
You started as distant acquaintances, sharing a friend but not much else. Soon, though, you and Ari found common ground and mutual respect. Slowly, the two of you learned more about each other and grew comfortable, playfully jabbing at each other's bad habits and blind spots.
You only ever wanted the best for one another.
It took a long time--many people would say too long--to WANT one another, and old habits die hard.
The strangest part of your wedding day is how easy it is to fall into the 'friend' pattern again. You're executing a planned day, hosting guests in your home, coordinating care of your baby. Ari's helping. He always does.
The ceremony is short and sweet, the party after a simple barbecue. It hardly feels...special.
On the other side of the lawn, Ari shows a few of your coworkers Rachel's favorite face he makes, and your daughter howls in joy, grabbing at Daddy from her perch your cubicle-mate's arms.
They're too far away to hear, but you can read Ari's body language pretty well after a decade.
What's wrong, honey? You love looking out at a crowd.
See? See all these people? They're here for you. For us. For...
Ari's eyes meet yours, his bottle of beer becoming an anchor in his outstretched hand. He beams.
...mommy.
You give a tiny little wave just as he gets ambushed by a few more guests cooing over Rachel. Ari is tall enough that you can see his gaze never leaves you, even when he's surrounded, even when he mutters an answer to a question, even as he pats shoulders and backs until he's out of the throng.
His radiant smile washes over you like the warm breeze on this perfect day. His feet land in time with thuds of Boyd and Dimitri battling it out on the cornhole boards, and the women flanking you twitter appreciative giggles as if putting voice to your heart's fluttering.
Ari is, well, damn fine to look at.
"Hey," he breathes heavily once making his way to you. "You wanna--" he gestures behind you to the house "--for a sec?"
"Oh, sure." You scramble to think what more could be missing from outside. Are the drinks running low? Is the grill ready for the next round of food? Does Rachel need a toy or maybe a hat?
He leads the way to open the door for you, and that's when you notice Ari's starting to sweat through the t-shirt he changed into after the ceremony. He's never been a fan of the penguin suits. As he puts it, "they rent them for a reason. Nobody wants to own one of these."
Whether for the entertainment or just to cool himself off, you assume Ari's heading for the kitchen and turn accordingly before an arm snaking around your waist hauls you backward.
"Not so fast, gorgeous," he snips in your ear, a familiar playfulness in the words warming down your spine.
"What are you doing, Ari?" you laugh, letting him man-handle you down the hall to the bedroom.
He touches you down gently beside the door and shuts it behind him quietly. Those pearly white teeth and bright blue eyes keep shining.
"Just taking a minute," he whispers, stepping closer, dragging his finger around your ear to move a bit of stray hair, "just for us."
His focus holds yours for a long time. The rough pad of his thumb traces the height of your cheekbone. A sheen of perspiration glistens on his temple. His flush glows pink even on the skin between beard hairs. Ari's tongue flicks out to wet his bottom lip.
Mixed with the muffled sound of your party outside, it's hard to tell his breathing has changed, but when your own eyes stop roaming the rest of his face, you see welling tears.
"Sorry, I don't know why..." Ari's cracking voice trails off. He sniffs and plants his hands against your hips to steady himself.
It makes your head spin.
"Sorry I took so lo--" but you don't let him get the words out.
Friends don't let friends cry over wasted time, no, because none of it was wasted. Learning about each other is necessary. Respecting one another is crucial. Laughing at the little things and the stupid things is essential. Everything happened just as it should.
You pour your approval into the kiss, tossing your arms around his neck and climbing him like the steadfast, rooted tree he's become, the centerpiece he is in the forest of your life, and Ari weathers the assault with gusto.
He sways with that changing wind of desire to lay you on the bed, shading you with his broad body and dangling hair, cocooning you both in your own little world, hot and heavy and light as a feather.
"I love you," he says as his wide palm explores up your skirt. "I love you," he says as two fingers move your panties out of the way. "I love you," he says as he discovers just how long you've been waiting for this touch.
"I love you," you repeat, undoing the fastening of his shorts. "I love you," you repeat, pushing them to the ground. "I love you," you repeat, taking his length in your hand.
"Please, Ari."
He hisses in tortured excitement. "Yeah?" In a flurry of fabrics, he's yanking your skirt around, tucking your leg up high over his waist as he climbs on the bed, too. "You want me, gorgeous?"
You like how much he leans into your new nickname; he's tried to ween himself off calling you 'kid' now that Rachel exists.
"Need you." Your words sound whiny and desperate because they are. "Need my husband."
The groan Ari lets out would wake the neighbors. Thank g-d there's a party outside...
He's so careful entering you, giving you time to stretch for him, giving him time to listen to every sated breath you both take. He pulls down the zipper at your side and peels your dress back, further exposing you. He loves how sensitive your nipples are since having a baby, but he also knows how much you hate these bras. He takes a moment to unhook you and fling that shit across the room, relishing your happy sigh of freedom.
"There's my wife," he chokes out, propped on his hands above you, surveying the bare beauty before him. His shirt is loose and wrinkled from where you've been gripping it for dear life. The shimmer of tears is back in his eyes--just for a second--until you bring him down to kiss again.
Once fully sheathed inside you, Ari sets a rhythm to mirror your whole relationship: slow and playful. He works to make you laugh, to make you fight him just a little bit because he's being silly. He flicks at your nipples and mouths at your shoulder. He only has one care in the whole world and for all time until--
Ari growls into your neck when there's a knock at the door.
"Just took the last bottle out of the fridge for Rachel, dearie. Thought you should know," Momma Joe's sweet old voice vibrates through, but you hear her footsteps fade quickly.
"'Spose that means I need to pump..." You toss your arms out in defeated frustration.
"Nah-uh," Ari shoots back, gathering you into a firm hold, pressing himself that much deeper inside you. He drapes that bubble of attention over you again, intent and adoring. "Right now? Right now you're mine, Misses Levinson."
He rolls his hips back, cock inching out of you, covered in your slippery arousal.
"And I need to pump--" he thrusts forward, the heft of him making your head loll back on the sheets "--again...and again...and again..."

My Analysis of the Best Paired Endings in 3H (Part 19: AM Sylvain/Felix)
Tumblr media
Sylvain: I hate Crests, you know. They mess everything up in life, the future, everything… Just because I have a Crest, I'm treated as the heir, and my older brother nearly killed me because of jealousy. Bitches... they swarm to me, no, to my blood, like ants... Mercedes: …I'm sorry. Did I remind you of something you didn't want to remember? Sylvain: …Sorry, I slipped. Ah, damn, I didn't mean to show such a pathetic side… Mercedes: …No, I'm glad. It feels like I saw your true face for the first time.
The localization watered down, omitted, or completely rewrote a lot of the more interesting gender-related dialogue. In his Japanese B-Support with Mercedes, the word Sylvain used for women was "女ども" (onnadomo). This term is derogatory. It is used to refer to females in a demeaning manner and carries a tone of contempt or disdain. It is considered offensive and is avoided in polite conversation. A comparable word in English might be "bitches" or "wenches."
Sylvain: …Oh, what's up, Professor? Haha, sorry, didn't notice you at all. We've been meeting quite often lately. Oh, could it be that you're interested in me? (Female Byleth): ...Just kidding, it's a joke. Please don't make such an obvious disgusted face. (Male Byleth): Sorry, my arms are reserved for girls only! I'd prefer not to lend them to bastards.
The localization also changed some lines in Sylvain's B-Support with Byleth pretty significantly. If you are playing as Male Byleth, he refers to males as "野郎" (yarou). It's an informal term that is somewhat similar to "guy" or "dude" in English, but it's more derogatory. It's a gendered insult and it suggests that the person being referred to is undesirable or contemptible in some way. It implies qualities like rudeness, roughness, or unpleasantness. It is also considered offensive and impolite, and it's generally not used in polite contexts.
Sylvain: My brother was always a truly irredeemable bastard. Selfish, conceited, and arrogant. I've always had to clean up after him…even after he died. But, thinking about it, if my brother, not me, had been born with the Crest… Would I have become like my brother, or would there have been a different fate for me…?
"Yarou" is often translated as "bastard". In Hopes, if you take Sylvain on an expedition and ask about his likes, he says it's talking to girls. If you ask what he dislikes, he says it's being surrounded by guys, and he uses the same term. And he often used it when referring to guys in general, such as during teatime. I think he was even more of a misandrist than a misogynist, and it's a shame that wasn't as apparent in English because it's pretty integral to his character.
Tumblr media
Sylvain: If someone is in trouble, you help them. That's what a knight, no, what a human being does. Whether it's a cute girl or a rugged big guy, it's the same thing. Ashe: …! Sylvain: Hey, don't give me that look. Are you falling for me? Unfortunately… Ashe: What are you talking about? …I'm just a little surprised.
Even though Sylvain disliked most women, he still vastly preferred their company over men. In their B-Support, he saved Ashe's life, and Ashe came to thank him (quite similar to Sylvain's A-Support with Felix, actually). And he basically told Ashe "no homo". In the localization of their C-Support, he asked Dimitri to come to town together with him to pick up girls. But in the Japanese, he simply encouraged him to invite girls out to dinner on his own.
Sylvain: Hey, Professor. If you're free, wanna go out to the town together? (Female Byleth): I found a place with delicious food. I thought I had no choice but to invite you, Professor! (Male Byleth): In search of unseen beauties… No. Just kidding. Please don't give me that look.
While there are plenty of hints that Sylvain is bisexual, I think it makes perfect sense that he can't end up with Male Byleth or any other male character except for one. He had a VERY specific type. I don't even think Female Byleth was truly his type. But ya know, self-insert.
Sylvain: Dorothea, Hilda, Mercedes… Lady Rhea is also quite the beauty. Ah, the Officer's Academy is great, Professor. Beauties everywhere you turn! Haha!
So, what was his type? Well, he tells you on the first day of school who he was interested in. Three girly girls and Lady Rhea, who represents the Mother Goddess archetype, the embodiment of the divine feminine principle.
Sylvain: Professor, have you seen Felix? He's always disappearing when you take your eyes off him. Byleth: I saw him at the training ground. Sylvain: Well, I thought it might be something like that. Sorry, Professor. Thanks for your help! Taking care of horses, you know, it's quite soothing. They repay trust with trust. Sigh… In that regard, dealing with girls is quite tricky.
Sylvain liked damsels in distress he could swoop in and help. He thought Hilda was cute until he learned that her "delicate flower" act was insincere. And he was attracted to Dorothea, whom he compared to a beautiful flower in bloom, until he suspected she had an ulterior motive. On the day he was looking for Felix, he said he liked looking after horses because, unlike girls, they can be trusted.
Yuri: Oh, is this what they call mutual affection? I'm up for a rendezvous anytime… But next time, could you use better lines than when we first met? That was terrible! "Hello, young lady, delicate as a little bird! Would you care to chat a bit over there…" Sylvain: Oh, come on, I already apologized plenty for mistaking you for a girl! How many times do I have to say it! Yuri: I didn't really need an apology, you know. Look at this face; there are plenty who make that mistake. In fact, I even think I should have conversed with you, even if I had to pretend to be a woman. There's nothing wrong with maintaining a relationship with the future Margrave, right? Sylvain: What an enthusiastic pick-up line… I can't help but feel strange myself.
What mattered to Sylvain was whether his brain registered someone as a girl. He tried to woo a crossdresser at a harvest festival. And the pick-up line he used on Yuri was changed in the localization. He called him "delicate as a little bird" in Japanese. And he was not turned off by the idea of Yuri pretending to be a woman with him.
Sylvain: ...Sorry. Well, I understand, but it seems my mind was refusing to comprehend... Certainly, you... I mean, you're a woman. Yes, a lovely young lady, indeed. Oh no, I've been rude. I'm terribly sorry, miss. Leonie: What's with that tone... Sylvain: I really am sorry. This is a first for me, too. Even if Leonie is ro… I mean, even if she's an active girl, something like this… Leonie: You were about to say "rough", right!?
He knew Leonie was a girl, but his mind just didn't see her as a one. He used the word"粗雑" (sozatsu). It means "rough" or "crude" in English. Later, he compared her to a sunflower, rather than a delicate flower. The word he used for "delicate" was "可憐な" (karenna). And that's the word he used when hitting on Yuri.
Sylvain: It might also be one of the knights… Oh, wait, me!? Ingrid: I'll hit you. Sylvain: W-wait, I was just kidding! I'm against violence! Being too rough ruins a beauty, you know! ………… Uh, well. I-I mean, when I say "beauty," I'm not talking about flirting or anything, yeah!
In his A+ Support with Ingrid, the Japanese word he used was "乱暴" (ranbou). It means "rough" or "violent" in English. It can refer to behavior that is aggressive, forceful, or lacking in restraint.
Sylvain: I'm weary from the nonstop battles. A gentle and beautiful young lady who can heal my troubled heart, I wonder if it's lying around out there somewhere… (Best Answer): It might appear someday.
Even his notes to the advice box suggested that his ideal partner was a "Yamato Nadeshiko". The term describes the "flower of Japanese womanhood" or "traditional daughter of Japan". It's a nostalgic term for the perfect woman under the ideology of Japanese patriarchal society. Sylvain adored traditional femininity and wanted a partner who was the epitome of feminine beauty.
Tumblr media
Sylvain: To be honest, I left home without telling my father, even though the country was in a difficult situation. Haha, I can imagine my father's angry face. "That idiot son of mine…" Haha, scary, scary…
But it was not because he was interested in upholding patriarchy. In fact, it he hated patriarchy and did not have a good relationship with the men in his life. His father was known as the "Wall of Ice". Matthias only cared about whether he had a Crest and could wield the Lance of Ruin. He didn't have much regard for his son's life and wanted him to take out a group of bandits by himself to earn his inheritance.
Ingrid: As you know, Sylvain and I have known each other since we were children. In the past, he often had bruises and other injuries on his face and body. Every time I asked, he would say he got them during training, but still…
And growing up, Sylvain was regularly beaten by his older brother.
Dimitri: Who's naïve and serious…? Besides, compared to you, most men are probably the same. Sylvain: Oh, really? A man who gives a dagger as a gift to a girl he likes is quite… Dimitri: How many years ago was that story? …If I seriously slap your head, will you forget about it? Sylvain: If I were hit with that monstrous strength, I'd die… It doesn't sound like a joke.
His Japanese voice acting during his C-Support with Dimitri conveyed a lot more distress than the English version did. Because of how overly serious Dimitri was, and his history of being abused, he genuinely could not tell that he was just joking about hitting him.
Sylvain: Ah, damn it… Joining the Empire… I wonder what Father would say… And then there's His Highness… He's definitely furious, right? That guy, when he's angry, he's downright terrifying… I wonder how I'll be killed… Just imagining it makes my legs tremble. However… it's your decision. I'll follow you…until the end. Haha, I wonder what's gotten into me. I should be scared out of my mind… and yet…
If you recruit Sylvain into CF, you'll learn that he was terrified of Dimitri's anger. He was a childhood friend, but he was never as close to him as he was to Ingrid and Felix. Dimitri was, after all, the future patriarch of the Kingdom with superhuman strength. Which would be kind of intimidating to an abuse victim. In CF, he calls Dimitri a stubborn "yarou". While he is on good terms with him in AM after his boar phase, he doesn't even have an A-Support with him.
Sylvain: Thinking that he's in the next room makes me hesitate to invite a girl over at night. I'm already scared and scared of the scolding the next morning... (Best Answer): Maybe I should reconsider the room assignments…
Sylvain's note to the advice box was about how he was afraid to invite girls to his room because Dimitri was next door. He didn't take his scoldings from Ingrid or Felix very seriously. But Dimitri's seriousness seemed to remind him of his father. And Sylvain was deathly afraid of his father. I'm sure that's why he felt like he had no way out of his arranged marriage.
Tumblr media
Sylvain: As someone with a Crest, I was raised with great care by my parents. But my older brother, who didn't have a Crest, was suddenly treated very coldly when I was born. …My older brother even pushed me into a well and abandoned me in the snowy mountains. I understood it even as a child. I had taken everything from him. How could I complain in front of someone who wanted a Crest but couldn't get one? So, the persistent stares of women, the appraising looks of noble daughters… I had to smile and accept them. …Because I had the Crest.
Sylvain bears the Crest of Gautier which is associated with the Death Arcana in Tarot. And the theme of "death" certainly played a large role in his character arc. Growing up, he was constantly told that he should go die and his brother tried to kill him. But Death doesn't mean literal death. It signifies a time of significant transformation, transition, and change. The old version of you needs to "die" to allow the new you to be created.
Sylvain: Ever since King Lambert passed away, I hardly get to see my childhood friends anymore…
Death also represents a resistance to change. In Hopes, if you take Sylvain on an expedition and ask him about his memories of the past, he sadly recounts how he and his old friends stopped hanging out much after King Lambert died. Sylvain would have been fifteen at the time. The same age he was when he hit on Lord Gwendal's daughter, prompting Ingrid to finally leave her room out of concern for him.
Sylvain: Actually, I have a history with Lord Gwendal. Yes, that was a story from many years ago. I met a lovely young lady, fell in love, and was nearly killed by her father… And that father happened to be Lord Gwendal. Oh boy, I was truly prepared to die at that time!
In Japanese, Sylvain's Classic Mode death quote uses the word "覚悟" (kakugo). It means "prepared for" or "mental readiness." And in Japanese, he uses that exact same word when talking about the Lord Gwendal incident. Sylvain's childhood antics (such as hitting on Ingrid's grandmother) could be seen as a harmless ploy for attention to compensate for his terrible home life. However, his involvement with Gwendal's daughter appeared to be way more serious.
Sylvain: …Well, whatever you think, Professor, I don't intend to change my attitude. You see, I may be a good-for-nothing, but I'm still a noble with a Crest… I try not to get involved in serious relationships. They only bring trouble. Eventually, I'll be quietly married off to some suitable partner and settle down.
Sylvain was extremely disingenuous with girls. He would use them for sex, then dump them in public. He was dreading the fact that his life would change after he got married and he blamed them for it.
Tumblr media
Ingrid: Just… childhood friends, right? Then why do I have to clean up after your messes? Sylvain: Haha, nobody asked you to do that! Well, just think of it as your role and accept it. For some reason, it's been like this since we were kids, and it'll probably continue. Ingrid: …Continue like this? So, you don't have any intention of changing your ways!?
The only way Sylvain knew how to cope with his fate was by pretending that he just couldn't resist falling in love with every cute girl that he laid eyes on. But the truth was that he disliked girls and was even afraid of them. He was being literal when he said he would stake his life on flirting.
Ingrid: You keep earning resentment from women, and eventually, you'll really get stabbed. Sylvain: Haha, well, if I get stabbed, I get stabbed. I suppose that's just how it goes. Ingrid: …Dying for such a silly reason is definitely not okay, are you stupid!? …Glenn was the type to make those kinds of jokes too. And he really never came back.
Ingrid's line in her B-Support with Sylvain was changed slightly. She specifically warned him that he would get stabbed if he didn't change his behavior. And he just laughed, as if he were prepared to die.
Sylvain: I just, uh… Well, you're going to think I'm being a jerk or hitting on you or whatever… When we're side by side like this, training, I feel— I don't know—oddly at ease. Ingrid: I know what you mean. It's probably because we've been friends for so long. Sylvain: That must be it. Let's never change. Friends forever?
All Sylvain wanted was for things to go back to how they were when he was a kid. In their Houses A-Support, he emphasized that he was not trying to hit on Ingrid. The idea that things wouldn't change between them just put him at ease.
Ingrid: What do you mean you feel relieved seeing me eat? Sylvain: Haha, sorry, sorry. I didn't mean anything by it. Just seeing you enjoying your meal like that makes me, you know, feel relaxed. [...] Nobody can stay the same as they were in the past. You said something like that recently too, didn't you? That's why having something that doesn't change is really comforting for us.
In their Hopes A-Support, he offered to treat Ingrid to dinner not as an attempt to woo her, but just so that he could watch her eat. It was a relief to him that some people never change.
Tumblr media
Sylvain: Hey Felix, you free? You must be free, right? Let's go flirt with some girls together today. Felix: Tch… You're disturbing my training. Go by yourself. Sylvain: Don't say that. Come on, we've known each other for a long time, haven't we?
The one change that bothered Sylvain more than any other was the change in Felix's personality. While he didn't like girls becoming attached to him, he was sad that Felix seemed to have outgrown that tendency and no longer wanted to spend time with him.
Felix: We've certainly known each other for a while, but that's about it. Besides, it's not what I wanted. It was just our parents' wishes. Sylvain: So, you're saying it's a rotten relationship, huh?
The phrase "rotten relationship" is kinda hard to translate. It is "腐れ縁" (kusareen) in Japanese. It means "a relationship that cannot be severed even if one wants to." It's usually a relationship that has persisted for a long time, often against one's will or preference, because it is bound up in some work, social, or family obligation. It tends to have a negative connotation, implying that the relationship is undesirable or plagued by difficulties.
It was derived from "鎖縁" (kusari-en) or "chain relationship", a term that refers to a close and inseparable relationship between two people, often described as being bound together by chains. "Chain relationship" was a positive term referring to two people bound by fate, as if they were destined to be together. But over time, the "rotten" part was added, and it took on a negative connotation.
Felix: That boar prince, it's been a rotten relationship since birth… No, even before birth. That's why I'm warning you… He harbors a beast within. You can trust in his skill in combat and brute strength, but as a person, he's utterly untrustworthy. You better be careful not to be devoured yourself.
Felix used the exact same term when he warned Byleth about Dimitri in Chapter 2. And the way he described his relationship with Sylvain is actually a far more accurate description of his relationship with Dimitri. Felix did have fond memories of their childhood together, but Dimitri's sadistic smile while torturing the rebels was ingrained in his mind. After that, he no longer wanted to associate with him, but he couldn't break off their relationship due to his family.
Tumblr media
Sylvain: So, you're saying it's a rotten relationship, huh? Come on now, Felix. You used to cling to me like glue back in the day. You couldn't beat your brother, got into fights with His Highness, and every time something happened, you came crying to me. Back then, you were so meek and innocent. I doted on you like a little brother… Felix: ...Enough.
Sylvain disagreed that his relationship with Felix was just a rotten relationship. The implication was that it was more of a chain relationship and Felix was trying to downplay how close they were because he was hurt by the way Sylvain was acting.
Felix: Listen. I've held back until now, but there are plenty of things I want to say to you. In your personal life and even on the battlefield, you're frivolous. Whenever something happens, it's always about women… Sylvain: Hmm, what's wrong with that? It's rude to ignore cute girls… Felix: There's a limit to that, you sex fiend. If your sword skills were solid, I could acknowledge that. But you slack off even in training… Do you not feel any guilt about hurting others' feelings and holding them back?
Sylvain's womanizing certainly hurt Felix's feelings, but he was even more hurt by his frivolousness in battle. The implication was that he had no choice but to double down on his training because he was always babysitting Sylvain on the battlefield.
Felix: Being in this military academy, one becomes speechless at the sheer number of fools who, indulged by the power of their Crests and the status of nobility, neglect their training. It's truly astounding. (Best response): It would be good to give them training.
Felix's note to the advice box was undoubtedly written with a particular person in mind.
Tumblr media
Sylvain: You know, since way back, I've been doing stupid things, and you've always been there to yell at me… Felix: Both of us getting lectured by Ingrid because of you… Try to put yourself in my shoes, I got dragged into it every time. Sylvain: Yeah yeah, that's right. Our relationship hasn't changed no matter how many years have passed. But you've changed, Felix. You were so adorable when we were kids… Now, you've become completely warped. I wonder why you grew up like this… Felix: Tch… You, on the other hand, are still a good-for-nothing, just like in the past. Sylvain: Ahahaha, what's that? Is that something the person who has always been by my side would say? Even now, look, you came all the way to me with the intention to apologize for what happened the other day, right?
Sylvain wasn't intimidated by Felix. But being yelled at by him still hurt his feelings and he kept his distance afterwards. And Felix came crawling back to him to apologize. He couldn't sever their relationship even if he was so hurt that he may have wanted to. He was afraid of losing their friendship, so it proves he was lying when he called it a rotten relationship.
Felix: …The boar prince and I have been acquainted since before birth. Before I knew it, he was always by my side… You might even say that, at one time, we were best friends.
Dimitri and Felix were always together as little kids and Felix used to whine unless they could do everything together. I've seen some people say that they were best friends up until the incident suppressing the rebellion when they were 14 or 15. But that didn't appear to be the case. At the time the Tragedy of Duscur occurred, when he was 13, Dimitri considered Glenn his best friend.
Sylvain: However, both His Majesty and Felix have really grown up, haven't they? Ten years ago, they were the kind of guys who would squabble over breaking each other's swords and whatnot…
Felix always went crying to Sylvain whenever he and Dimitri fought. Dimitri broke Felix's sword when they were nine years old. So, even by that age, Felix was clingier with Sylvain than Dimitri.
Sylvain: A little laziness is just right. If you push yourself too hard, you'll just get tired. Oh yeah, I'll treat you to a meal, so let's go out to town together, Felix. Felix: No. Sylvain: Which is more important, going to town with me or training? Felix: Training. See ya.
Sylvain lamented how cute Felix used to be in Houses, Hopes, and even Heroes. He was the only male character that Sylvain was ever interested in spending time with one-on-one. He even invited him out to dinner like he did with girls. It is very likely that he was so sad about how much Felix changed because he used to be his ideal "girl".
Tumblr media
Sylvain: More importantly, it's time for the ballroom dance now, isn't it? There's also the White Heron Cup competition, right? So, Professor, who are we sending from our class? (Byleth chooses Sylvain as the representative for the White Heron Cup) Sylvain: Huh, me? Well, um, that's fine I guess. It's a good opportunity to show the girls what I can do. (Byleth does NOT choose Sylvain as the representative for the White Heron Cup) (Japanese) Sylvain: If anything, I'd rather see a beauty dancing than watch a bastard dancing, you know. (English) Sylvain: I get it. No worries, really. I'd rather see a beautiful person dancing instead of some goof like me.
Sylvain lumped himself into the "yarou" category, too. He was eager to impress girls during the Battle of the Eagle and Lion. But he will sound a bit disappointed if you choose him as the White Heron Cup representative. He's happier if you choose a beauty. The term he used for a "beauty" was "美人" (bijin). It means "beautiful person," but it is primarily used to refer to beautiful women.
It can sometimes be used to describe an exceptionally attractive man, although less commonly. Generally, "bijin" is more commonly associated with feminine beauty in Japanese language and culture. While it can technically be used to describe individuals of any gender who are considered beautiful, the term often carries connotations of traditional or stereotypical feminine beauty standards.
And since "yarou" is gendered, you'd think that "beautiful woman" would be the obvious way to translate that line, right? But I have to give the localizers credit where credit is due. They used "beautiful person" rather than "beautiful woman". Because they knew Sylvain would not have minded one bit if Felix had been the White Heron Cup representative.
Tumblr media
Felix: You seem like you have something to say. …You're not seriously considering choosing me as the representative for the White Heron Cup, are you? (Byleth does NOT choose Felix as the representative for the White Heron Cup) Felix: I see. That's fine then.
Felix is unsociable. He gets annoyed if Byleth stares at him too long during teatime and he struggles to maintain eye contact when talking to people. Yet he was not as opposed to participating in a dance contest as you'd expect. He even brought it up himself. If you don't pick him, he doesn't sound relieved like most of the others. In fact, in Japanese, I'd say he sounds a tiny bit disappointed. His objection seemed to be dancing with a girl, not dancing in general.
Felix: I'd much rather swing a sword at the training grounds than dance with a girl at the ball. Sylvain: Huh? Your Highness and Felix, are you joking…? You can dance with all the girls in the school. Do you mean to say that on such a wonderful day, you'll be practicing swordplay with each other…? That doesn't seem like a sane idea!
One the "Night of Promises", Dimitri was not looking forward to the ball because he was sad that he was never going to rekindle his spark with Edelgard. He still attends the ball, and the cutscene shows him dancing next to Edelgard, as if to imply that he wished he was dancing with her instead of the girl he was actually dancing with. Felix felt the same way as Dimitri. He said he was going to skip out and train instead, something that made Sylvain sad. He used the word "yarou" once again here, emphasizing the masculine nature of the activity he's criticizing.
Felix: But… to the casual observer, it might not look entirely unlike a tryst between a man and a woman. If you're truly dissatisfied, then that's your compromise. Byleth: Unfriendly. Felix: Call it whatever you want. I'm about to head back to the training grounds.
If Byleth meets Felix at the Goddess Tower, his dialogue indicated that he did indeed skip the ball to practice at the training grounds.
Tumblr media
Sylvain: When I heard you were heading to the Goddess Tower, I wondered who you were having a tryst with… I never expected you'd just be standing there alone, lost in thought. Byleth: Tryst...? Sylvain: Wait a minute. Seriously, what's going on? When someone goes to the Goddess Tower, isn't it to meet a lover? Here, vows exchanged are sure to be fulfilled… It's the lovers' sanctuary, you know. (Option 1) Byleth: Why did you come alone? Sylvain: Huh? Oh, well... Truth be told, I was curious about who you were waiting for. I hurried to catch up, only to find you alone in the end... Well, I must say, it put my mind at ease.
Sylvain goes to the Goddess Tower simply because he was curious about who Byleth was waiting for and was relieved to find out that she was alone. Then afterwards, he offers to make a vow with her.
(Option 2) Byleth: Don't you need to invite a female student? Sylvain: That's true. I could have invited someone, but my true love is right in front of me. Being alone at the Goddess Tower means I can try to woo you, right?
The phrase Sylvain used for "true love" was "本命の相手" (honmei no aite). "本命の" (honmei no) translates to "main," or "primary". "相手" (aite) translates to "partner" or "opponent," depending on the context. The phrase typically refers to the person that the individual truly loves or considers as their most significant romantic interest.
HOWEVER. It also translates as "favorite opponent" in specific contexts, particularly in sports or competitive activities where "aite" means "opponent" or "rival." In that context, it refers to the most formidable opponent in a competition or match, the one whom the athlete or team considers their top rival or challenger.
Byleth: …Me? Sylvain: Yes. Who else would I be talking about?
Who else would he be talking about? Well maybe someone who spends a lot of time with Byleth as a sparring partner? Someone who was absent from the ball? Perhaps someone he made a promise together with in the past?
Sylvain: Hey, Professor, I won't make you unhappy. So, how about getting married… Byleth: You're not trustworthy. Sylvain: Haha, well, that's true.
Sooo. Why did Sylvain go to the Goddess Tower? Was Byleth his true love? Or was she actually his primary rival for his true love? Well, I think we can rule out the "true love" option.
Tumblr media
Felix: This is troublesome… The enemy is just a bunch of thieves. I doubt there are any skilled fighters among them. Sylvain: Don't be so cold. I'm looking forward to it. Come on, there might be a beautiful female thief among them.
Felix was always trying to prove his worth in battle. And Sylvain was always goofing off because he didn't value his own life. Before the group's first battle against bandits in Houses, he wasn't acting serious because there would most likely not be skilled fighters among them. He even made a joke about flirting with one of them.
Felix: If they're in a state of confusion right now, we can easily round them all up. I'm on my way. Sylvain: …No, no, no, hold on a second. Don't you think there's something strange about that fortress?
In Hopes, the bandits were a much greater threat than they anticipated, and Sylvain completely changed his tune. You gain Support points with Felix if you suggest charging the fort. But you gain points with Sylvain if you suggest a more cautious approach.
Sylvain: Ah, I thought since it's a festival day, there wouldn't be any lectures, and we could play all day… Hey, Professor. Even if you were planning an assassination, would you really choose the day of the Rite of Rebirth for it? I feel like there might be times when security is less tight. Or is there a reason it has to be this day?
Before the Rite of Rebirth, there was an assassination attempt on Lady Rhea. Sylvain didn't take it seriously because he knew the monastery's security would be tighter than ever on that day, and he was just goofing off and chatting up Hilda.
Sylvain: …But it's strangely quiet these days. Is it because the knights are out and about? Felix: I heard the knights are putting all their effort into tracking down the enemy. Sylvain: Putting all their effort… Isn't that a bit too much? Is it okay to neglect the monastery's defense? Felix: …How do you see this situation? Byleth: Maybe you're worrying too much. Sylvain: Is that so… Well, I hope the knights come back soon.
But after Jeralt was killed by intruders, he was standing with Felix, worrying about the thin security with all the knights out looking for the enemy. It's a very nice bit of subtle storytelling, showing that, even if he seemed like he was always goofing off, he was serious about Felix's safety and always kept an eye on him.
Sylvain: Come to think of it, you don't like sweets, huh? Well, thanks. I'll eat it later. …So, what do you want me to do? Ah, you want me to play matchmaker with a girl? Felix: Is your head filled with sugar or something? I'm just here to thank you for the battle the other day. If you hadn't noticed the ambush, I would probably be dead by now. Sylvain: Oh, right... But isn't that just how it goes? On the battlefield, it's all about mutual support. That's what comrades do, right? Felix: …You haven't changed a bit. Sylvain: Yeah, I'm still the same as ever. Felix: You always…
Felix is the only partner who will confess their feelings for Sylvain at the end of the Support chain. You could tell that he was mulling it over in the A-Support. He even brought a gift of sweets for Sylvain before he planned to tell him how he felt. But he chickened out. Still, he was going to say that he was grateful to Sylvain for always protecting him ever since they were kids.
Sylvain: His Majesty or Felix would probably make better hunting partners than me. I prefer to just sit back and watch.
While there are no specific childhood anecdotes related to this, a comment Sylvain made during his Hopes expedition did imply that he occasionally accompanied Dimitri and Felix on their hunting trips.
Felix: Boars are naturally wary animals, but this one seems injured… If it senses us, it'll charge. We can't afford to get injured by its massive rush. Raphael: Huh? Felix, you sound like you've fought something like this before? Felix: It's a story from many years ago, but I once let a similar quarry slip away. [...] House Blaiddyd and House Fraldarius used to go on hunting trips together. On one trip, a certain prince killed so many deer it proved impossible to fit them all on the sled. Meanwhile, I went off hunting on my own, encountered the boar, and barely escaped with my life.
Felix had a near-death encounter with a wild boar as a child. And I strongly suspect that Sylvain was the one who saved his life and got pretty hurt in the process.
Tumblr media
Felix: You've always been like this since we were kids. Normally so unreliable, but you've always thrown yourself in harm's way and helped us when it really counted. …Every time you managed to put on that carefree smile for us, I cannot deny that I wanted to hug you a little. Sylvain: O-Oh… You're the one spouting those kinds of lines? Have you eaten something strange? Felix: Tch… I won't say it again, you fool! Now that I know you're safe, I'm going back to my room.
In the A+ Support, Felix will finally say what he was thinking back in the A-Support. He will mention how Sylvain would literally put his body on the line and then smile afterwards. And Sylvain told Marianne that a smile was the true measure of a person's worth. He always smiled because it made him feel strong.
Felix uses the word "抱いていた" (dakishiteita). It means "embrace" or "hold." It can mean to literally hold, hug, or embrace someone in a physical sense. Or it can be used metaphorically to express the idea of cherishing or harboring a feeling of admiration or longing. But the writers probably chose that word for its dual meaning.
Felix was certainly trying to communicate his admiration for Sylvain's ability to smile even when he's hurt and in a lot of pain. And in doing so, he made his intense longing for Sylvain clear. And I do not think the localizers were wrong to have Felix express his desire to hug Sylvain in a literal sense. It was all part of the same package.
Sylvain: Alright, alright. Then I'll wait while having a meal until you feel like it. Come on, Felix, let's grab a meal in town. I'll treat you. How about some meat? Felix: …Alright. I owe you one. Just for today, I'll go along. Sylvain: After we fill our stomachs, then we can go chat up some girls… Felix: ………. Sylvain: Just kidding, jeez, you're really short-tempered. Come on, let's go together, Felix!
Sylvain offered to treat Felix to dinner in their B-Support, and he got rejected. In the A-Support, he offered again, and Felix agreed because he owed him. Now, Sylvain offered to treat Byleth—even the male—to dinner in his Paralogue because he saved his life, and he owed him. So, that probably wasn't what he wanted to hear.
In Sylvain's mind, relationships were always transactional, and he was very suspicious over whether anyone really wanted to spend time with him. He even suspected that Felix came to give him the sweets just so he could set him up with a girl. So, he apparently tested Felix's intentions by suggesting they chat up girls afterward. Ya know, just to make sure they're on the same page and it's really a date. In light of what Felix intended to say, it's clear why he was upset.
Tumblr media
Sylvain: ...Hey, uh, Ingrid. Training again today? Ingrid: No, today I'm going to the city to buy supplies. Training comes afterward. Is there something wrong? Sylvain: N-no, you're still as serious as ever, huh? Some things never change. Ingrid: …What are you talking about? I haven't changed at all. Sylvain: Y-yeah, you're right, haha. Ingrid: …Hey, what's up, Sylvain? Did you eat something strange? Sylvain: N-no, it's not that. Um… Have you found someone you like?
Sylvain was always smooth whenever he was flirting with girls. But in his A+ Support with Ingrid, he was incredibly flustered and stumbling over his words. He's a completely different person when he's really fallen for someone. Taken at face-value, the player would assume that he has fallen for Ingrid. And while that is certainly a valid interpretation, it actually isn't the only interpretation. He was particularly worried that she had been training a lot lately.
Sylvain: No, it's not like I'm flustered or anything. …I was just a little curious about the reason, that's all. Ingrid: …The reason for the makeup, huh. What do you think it is? Sylvain: Well… Is it because of a guy? If we're talking about someone you might like, going by your past tendencies… Felix…No, His Highness is also a possibility.
And the first person he asked about was Felix, due to Ingrid's history with Glenn and how Felix had changed to be more like him. But was it because he was afraid Felix would steal Ingrid from him? Or was he afraid Ingrid would steal Felix from him? While many people consider Ingrid the "canon" love interest for Sylvain, they deliberately left their A+ Support open to interpretation. I have no doubt that the writers preferred Felix as Sylvain's love interest, but they didn't want to make a gay pairing too obvious, so they left it open for Ingrid, too.
Tumblr media
Sylvain: I've been given the opportunity for revenge. I won't waste it… even if it means stabbing each other to death…!
Regardless of which one you interpret as his love interest, Ingrid and Felix were the two most important people to Sylvain. If you do not recruit them in CF, they will die at Arianrhod, and Sylvain's dialogue changes in response during "Field of Revenge". The Japanese verb he uses "刺し違える" (sashichigaeru) literally refers to stabbing one another and killing each other.
Sylvain: Professor! Has it really been five years? We ought to raise a glass to the occasion. Celebrate your return. Nah, I'd rather commemorate it with your death.
Sylvain's CF arc is very interesting. He becomes like Miklan. The foreshadowing in his B-Support with Byleth was intended for this exact moment. He was so jealous of Byleth's ability to live freely that he wanted to kill them. And now he gets the chance. He doesn't care if he dies as long as he gets his revenge for his two friends. Sylvain felt like his parents only valued him for his Crest and his brother wanted him dead. But those two really loved him. He was so driven to kill Byleth in CF because s/he took everything from him.
Mercedes: You can't choose where you're born. It's like flowers not being able to choose where they bloom. Since we don't suffer from hunger or thirst, we can't complain even if the place is cramped. It's the same for both of us… We all have to bloom where we're planted. Sylvain: It's true that flowers can't choose where to bloom. They can't go where they want to go until they die, and if the environment is bad, they will just wither away.
Because of the arranged marriage looming over his head, Sylvain felt like a flower with his roots firmly planted. He didn't feel like he could go where he wanted to go until he died.
Sylvain: Finally… I can go to the place where they are… I'm sorry, Your Majesty… I… will go ahead and wait… Dimitri: Thank you, Sylvain. I will also… definitely go to where you all are.
And where did he want to go? To the place where Ingrid and Felix were. CF!Sylvain was relieved that he could finally join them upon his death, something that was sadly not included in the localized version. That line was especially relevant to his relationship with Felix because they promised to die together.
Tumblr media
Sylvain: Me… disliking girls? Hahaha, no way, no way, not at all! I'm always serious when it comes to girls. I put my life on the line to woo them. Dorothea: You should focus on one person and then say that. You only have one life, and usually, there's only one person you can love enough to stake your whole life on.
Sylvain has the fewest number of paired endings out of any student. Understandably, very few women would consider marrying him. Mercedes would in order to escape her arranged marriage, but she'd have to give up her dream. And Ingrid would because she loved him and thought she needed to take care of him or else he'd end up like Glenn. But she'd also have to give up her dream.
In his S-Support proposal, Byleth was not quite sure if Sylvain was being sincere because he was still using shallow words. And Dorothea did not trust him, either, because he had to propose to her at least ten times. And of course, Dorothea will marry pretty much any nobleman in the game to secure her future. Felix had no one pressuring him and nothing to gain from being with Sylvain.
Sylvain: Do you remember? We made a promise when we were kids. That we'd die together. Felix: ...I remember. Sylvain: So, you see, there's no way I'd die before you and leave you behind.
In English, "dying together" could be taken as platonic. Just brothers-in-arms or best friends. However, there's a cultural nuance to it in Japanese because that phrase is often used in a romantic context. It implies that they will not just die but spend their whole lives together. It was, in essence, a marriage proposal.
Felix: …Well, I suppose that's true. But I'm fed up with getting terrified like this. You shouldn't just fool around all the time. Take your training seriously for once. …If you end up carelessly throwing your life away, I won't be able to die with you. Sylvain: Yeah, you're right. Once I'm healed, I'll try to be a bit more serious.
Felix uses the phrase "肝を冷やす" (kimo-o-hiyasu). It's an expression that literally translates to "cooling the liver" but figuratively means "to be frightened" or "to be scared stiff." It refers to the feeling of fear or nervousness that causes a person's body temperature to drop, often likened to a sensation of chilling one's liver.
Their entire Support chain was about how Felix never really changed. He always prioritized his training over hanging out because he was absolutely terrified that Sylvain would get himself killed and they wouldn't have a future together. After finally realizing this, Sylvain reaffirmed his childhood promise. He no longer wanted to die.
Sylvain: Anyway, I suppose you just said the things I usually say, right? Even if it's the same pick-up line, serious guys' words are taken seriously.
When Felix said Sylvain was frivolous in their C-Support, he used the word "不真面目" (fumajime). When Sylvain said he'd be more serious from now on, he used the word "真面目" (majime), which is the opposite. He also used this word in his Support with Dimitri. It means "serious" or "earnest" in English. It describes someone who is diligent, takes things seriously, and is sincere.
The "Sincerest of Knights" was not just saying that he would take his training seriously. He was also saying that he would take his personal life seriously. He wouldn't be frivolously going around picking up girls and telling them he loves them enough to stake his life on them anymore. Because he already found the one.
Tumblr media
Sylvain: These five years, fighting and fighting… Finally, the tough times have come to an end. A new era is about to begin. …So, I thought it's about time I put an end to my own fate. Byleth: Put an end to? Sylvain: Yes. My fate is not determined by something like a Crest; it's determined by me… This is the first step towards that. Not someone trying to use my Crest, not someone decided by someone else, and not just a playmate…
Death is the arcana of transformation and typically refers to a need to start over by letting go of the past. It is about moving forward from outworn and outgrown ways of life. And that's what Sylvain's character arc was all about, regardless of whether he marries Byleth.
The term for "put an end to" is "けじめ" (kejime). It can be translated as "closure," "settling accounts," "bringing something to an end," or "establishing a clear boundary." It suggests that Sylvain is finally ready to confront his fear, establish firm boundaries with his father, and decide for himself who he forms intimate relationships with.
Sylvain: But our feet aren't roots. We can move ourselves and go where we want. If we navigate cleverly, we might not have to give up what we want to do. [...] I'm not trying to court you or anything like that. But if I, as the legitimate son of Gautier, were to propose to you… The other party would have no choice but to withdraw. It might sour our relations a bit, though. Afterward, you can do as you please. You can work at the church or become whatever you want. Mercedes: But if you did that, Sylvain, you wouldn't be able to marry the person you love, right? Sylvain: Hahaha, I'm not being serious about that.
Sylvain is a Gemini. Being the Twins, they'll flit from person to person to see what everyone has to offer, but once they commit, their lives are complete and whole. Because he and Felix made such a promise before the game even started, it suggests that they were both in love with each other, regardless of whether you go for their paired ending.
And if Sylvain already had someone that he wanted to spend his life with, but that he wasn't free to do so because they were the wrong gender to produce heirs, then it paints his behavior in a different light. His storyline was about forbidden love. He changes his behavior in Hopes because he realizes that he can go where he wants and doesn't have to give up on being with the person he loves.
Tumblr media
Felix: I was raised to value strength above all else. Whereas you had a reason, an ambition, pushing you toward that hunger. So, tell me. What was the reason? Why were you driven to become so strong?
Not only is Sylvix the best relationship for Sylvain's growth, but it is also the best relationship for Felix's too. Felix was also a victim of Faerghus's patriarchal culture. He was taught to swing a sword before he could write and was raised with the motto: "Grow strong so you may live, and live to grow stronger".
Felix: It's like training with my brother. He always won—always—and died before I could win a single bout. From the first time I held a sword, all I wanted was to surpass him. And that's what drove me to become so strong.
Since Felix was a child, his main ambition in life was to surpass his brother, who he always lost to while sparring. And that sense of purpose continued to subconsciously drive him, even nine whole years after he died.
Rodrigue: …My eldest son was quite outstanding, you know. He was knighted at the age of fifteen.
Glenn possessed exceptional swordsmanship ability. Felix was probably so obsessed with surpassing his brother at swordplay because he was trying to earn the admiration of his father.
Tumblr media
Felix: Sorry, but I'm not "Emile." And of course, I'm not your brother. Tch… It's so annoying being compared to someone else. Mercedes: I'm really sorry… I'll be on my way then. …Oh, the tea refill is here. Please help yourself if you'd like. …Well, see you. Felix: …I am me. Regardless of what anyone says, I'm not anyone else. …Isn't that right…Brother.
The English localization changed several lines in Felix's C-Support with Mercedes, giving it a slightly different meaning than the original Japanese version. The verb used by Felix is "重ねる" (kasaneru). It means "to pile up" or "to layer". Metaphorically, in this context, it conveys the concept of overlapping an image of one person with someone else, because they remind you of them. The Japanese version made it sound like "You're you, not anyone else" was something Glenn had to remind Felix often.
Shez: Is Dimitri really that much like his dad? Rodrigue: Oh, yes, absolutely. Well, the late King was a bit more hot-headed, it seems… Compared to me and my son, they are spitting images of each other. See, we don't resemble each other much. Shez: Yeah, you're really not very similar at all. Your looks aside, of course.
The concept of "kasaneru" played into Rodrigue's relationship with both of his sons. He had trouble viewing them as their own people, rather than just reflections of himself. He was very proud that Glenn took after him and disappointed that Felix did not. He also projected his own feelings onto Glenn. While it did seem like he chose to defend Dimitri to the death, he was not satisfied to die.
Felix: …Hmph. It's a waste to keep someone like you as a woman. Leonie: Oh, come on. That's what's wrong with you. Strength has nothing to do with gender. It's because you underestimate your opponent that you fall into traps. Felix: …Yeah, you're right.
I've seen some people accuse Felix of being a misogynist because of several comments he made to female characters. One comment was to Ingrid about finding a husband, which I'll get to later. Another was his comment to Leonie about being impressive "for a girl". His comment in Japanese is actually entirely different. He was saying that Leonie is so strong that it's a waste because strength isn't a trait that is appreciated or expected of females in Fódlan.
Felix was implying that her talents might be better suited for manhood. And she actually made him question that way of thinking. This Support showed how Felix was aware that some people don't naturally conform traditional gender roles and it would make their lives much easier if they were the opposite sex. Which is something he had undoubtedly thought about himself.
Felix: It's all well and good to remember the dead, but sentimentality will get you killed. All the tears in the world couldn't bring them back, after all. Ingrid: You have always viewed the world in such stark terms. It might even be one of your strengths. But one day, you will learn that emotions and sentimentality are also a strength, not a curse.
Felix is a Pisces, which is considered one of the most feminine signs of the zodiac due to its association with sensitivity, intuition, empathy, and creativity. Pisceans are often described as dreamy, compassionate, and deeply empathetic individuals who are attuned to the emotions and needs of others. As a child, Felix was meek, innocent, clingy, and would cry easily. These are stereotypically feminine traits which would certainly not be valued in a strength-obsessed culture like Faerghus. And especially not in a boy.
Tumblr media
Felix: I am tired of it. For years, I've been forced to be a "replacement" for the dead. I had an excellent brother. He was a splendid knight worthy of admiration… He's dead now. After my brother's death, his presence haunted me like a shadow.
The Mother Goddess archetype is a powerful and ancient symbol found in various cultures and mythologies around the world. It represents the qualities of nurturing, fertility, protection, wisdom, and interconnectedness. Some examples are Isis from ancient Egyptian mythology and Mother Mary in Christianity. Sothis was the embodiment of the divine feminine principle.
The one who embodied the divine masculine principle was Nemesis. He represented the Warrior Hero archetype, which embodies qualities such as courage, strength, and valor. Figures like Achilles in Greek mythology, King Arthur in Arthurian legends, and Beowulf in Anglo-Saxon literature exemplify the ideals of the Warrior Hero.
Despite being the most religious country, the actual values of Faerghus were much more aligned with the Warrior Hero than the Mother Goddess. The Crest of Fraldarius is associated with the Emperor arcana. It represents the divine masculine principle. As the replacement heir, Felix's patriarchal duty was to serve as the king's sword and shield. But he hated the ideals of chivalry.
Dimitri: Heh. You know, Felix, you really are growing more and more like your brother. Always so sarcastic, and constantly looking for a fight. But deep inside, more than anyone, you—
The concept of "kasaneru" factored into Dimitri and Felix's relationship as well. Felix's gruff personality was not the natural effect of puberty. It was the result of being forced into a role he wasn't suited for. He hated bloodshed. His first battle left him horrified and he needed to desensitize himself to cope. After losing his brother and becoming a squire, his naturally sentimental and meek personality changed to become more like his brother, "sarcastic and constantly looking for a fight". Stereotypically masculine traits.
Bernadetta: Felix, did you just smile? And it was a really big smile, right? Hehehe, it's like cracking open a tough nut and finding a sweet smile inside… Felix: Tch… Don't get cocky, silly girl. Bernadetta: Oh no, the shell closed! Felix: …You've got guts to tease me like that. Seems like you really want to get in trouble.
The word Bernadetta used was "甘い" (amai). It is used for "sweet" and, just like in English, is often used to describe something that is sweet in taste or metaphorically sweet in demeanor or expression. In Japan, sweets are culturally coded as childish and feminine and liking meat is considered masculine. Did Felix truly not like sweets? Or did he just avoid them because of how they are perceived?
Bernadetta: Felix, please try this. This candy has a reputation for not being sweet. (Normal) Felix: I refuse. Whether it's sweet or not, I don't like candy. (Felix & Lysithea support level B reached) Felix: Candy, huh... If you say it's not sweet, should I take some?
It's worth noting that Felix will refuse to eat unsweet candy that Bernadetta offers him in their A+ Support. But he will actually give the candy a try if he has reached B-Support with Lysithea, after he tries her cake. And in their paired ending, he gives up the sword to spend to his life baking sweets with her. So, it suggests that he was just concerned with keeping up appearances.

Felix: If I were to die here, would you say something like you did when it was my brother? "That's the true end for a knight."
During World War II, ultra-nationalists popularized Yamato Nadeshiko as the female manifestation of Yamato Damashii. It is the term for an idealized Japanese man and refers to the traditional virtues and characteristics associated with him. These include loyalty, courage, honor, selflessness, and a strong sense of duty. This concept is deeply rooted in Japanese culture and history, reflecting the values upheld by the samurai class and other historical figures.
Dimitri: My closest friend was a knight who served the royal family. He was near to my own age, and I admired him greatly. But one day, I watched him die. He stood his ground and fought bravely, but his life was snuffed out in the blink of an eye all the same. Ingrid: I always looked up to Glenn. He was the very picture of a perfect knight—noble and virtuous. In the end, he laid down his life—the ultimate sacrifice. I feel proud of him in ways that words can't quantify. Rodrigue: To this day, I'm proud of Glenn. He gave his life to protect Prince Dimitri. If he had abandoned His Highness and fled, I don't know that I could have forgiven him… I would have been deeply ashamed.
Glenn was less a character and more an archetype. He represented the ideal man of Faerghus that Felix was supposed to aspire to be. Since he was a child, his purpose in life was getting strong enough to beat Glenn at sparring. He felt like he would only be valued if he became more like his brother. And after the Tragedy of Duscur, he felt like his father would only value him if he died.
Sylvain: The old Felix was really adorable, but what happened to make him like that? (Best Answer): Say it's part of growing up.
Whenever Felix lost to Glenn at sparring, he would go crying to Sylvain. It is likely that Sylvain was the one person, other than Glenn, who made Felix feel appreciated for who he really was. Rodrigue, Dimitri, and Ingrid always talked about how admirable Glenn was. Sylvain always talked about how adorable Felix was and was sad about how he had changed. After losing his brother, Felix probably felt like his purpose in life was keeping his promise with Sylvain.
(If Byleth is male) Felix: Having heard of your skills, I'm eager to meet you in battle. Come to the training ground later. There, you will show me what you're capable of.
Regardless of gender, Felix viewed Byleth as his personal rival, just like he did with Glenn when he was a kid.
(If Byleth is female) Sylvain: Such benevolence is a sight to behold! I don't suppose you would care to join me for tea? We could discuss education…and marriage. Felix: Control yourself, Sylvain. I have more important matters to discuss with our new professor. Come to the training ground later. There, you will show me what you're capable of.
Although, interestingly, it was Sylvain's marriage proposal that prompted him to challenge Female Byleth to a sparring match when she first became Professor.
Tumblr media
Felix: …What. I thought it might be someone else, but it's you. Byleth: Meeting someone? Felix: I didn't have such plans. …I just wanted to come to a quiet place.
Felix skipped the ball. But he was already at the Goddess Tower when Byleth arrived. He said he just needed some quiet, but wouldn't the training grounds already be quiet on the night of the ball? In Japanese, it's clearer that he was actually expecting someone else instead of her. There's only one person he could possibly have had in mind. The person he made a promise with long ago.
Felix: You know the legend of the Goddess Tower, don't you? The one where vows always come true. It's so absurd it makes me feel like vomiting…but trying to believe in it might be amusing. Let's make a vow to the Goddess of Fódlan. I will… I will, someday, surpass you. I'll surpass your sword, your skills, and as a warrior, I'll defeat you.
Most of the students used the word "約束" (yakusoku) when referring to the legend. It means "promise". There were only a few who used the word "誓い" (chikai). "Chikai" conveys a stronger sense of commitment and means "oath" or "vow". It often involves a pledge made with deep sincerity and seriousness.
"Chikai" tends to carry a more profound emotional and moral weight than "yakusoku". Byleth rejected Sylvain's request to exchange vows. And her vow with Felix was quite unromantic. Before swearing his vow, Felix closed his eyes, which he also does in his A+ Support when he remembers his promise with Sylvain.
Byleth: What kind of vow is that? Felix: What, unsatisfied? If you're looking for a romantic relationship, I'm sorry, but hit up some other man. Unfortunately, I've lived a life devoid of such things. Blades, blood, and battles. That's all I am.
Felix wasn't disinterested in love. He was disillusioned with love. After feeling unloved by his father and cheated on by Sylvain, he was trying to fill the void of love with strength. The only way he knew how to prove his worth to himself was on the battlefield. And that was the only sense of purpose he had left in life, anyway.
Tumblr media
Felix: Once I decided to fight alongside you and the emperor, I was prepared. …Prepared to abandon my country, to strike down my father, and to kill a man I once called a friend. But… my sword feels a bit heavy.
I found Felix's character arc in CF very interesting due to the whole "rotten relationships" idea. Remember how it means "a bad relationship that cannot be cut even if you try"?
Dimitri: Felix… You killed Rodrigue… your own father. Felix: I decided to cut down anyone who stood in my way. Even if it's my own father… Even if it's a friend I spent my childhood with. Dimitri: I see. After this exchange… I have finally resolved to kill you.
When it came down to literally cutting Dimitri out of his life, CF!Felix was very hesitant. He had a sad expression during this dialogue. And it was the same when he fought Ingrid.
Sylvain: Hey, Felix… Remember back when we were kids? We promised we'd die together, didn't we? Felix: ...Yeah, I remember. Sylvain: So… Now, it's gonna be you and me, killing each other. Felix: …Sorry, Sylvain. I'm gonna have to let you die first.
However, he showed absolutely NO hesitation killing Sylvain. In fact, he was even colder to him than he was to Rodrigue. Sylvain was clearly the real target of Felix's revenge in this chapter, not the boar. When Ingrid warned Sylvain that he was going to get stabbed if he kept cheating, it was probably foreshadowing for this moment.
Sylvain did not take CF!Ingrid's disloyalty personally and was not angry at her. He was just happy that her stubbornness hadn't changed. But he was very angry at CF!Felix. It was the betrayal he wanted revenge for. He specifically brought up their promise before expressing his desire to fight to the death. He was fully prepared to be stabbed to death, but he wanted to take Felix with him.
Tumblr media
Rodrigue: Hmm. The dreams I held dear as a child have either already come true…or never will.
The Hero's Relic of House Fraldarius is the Aegis Shield, a reference to Greek mythology. It's likely no coincidence that Rodrigue's middle name is "Achille". He was probably inspired by Achilles, the warrior hero from the Iliad. Achilles' strong reaction to his childhood companion Patroclus' death is often taken as a sign that their relationship was possibly deeper than friendship. He lamented, "My dear comrade Patroclus has fallen—he whom I valued more than all others, and loved as dearly as my own life? I have lost him."
Rodrigue: No matter how much we grieve, the dead won't return. There's no way for them to hear our words. That's why their presence binds those living in the present like a curse. The more we cherished them, the more we become entangled and suffer… I'm not strong enough to scold His Highness for his foolishness. Byleth: Even so… Rodrigue: Yes. It seems scolding and getting them back on their feet is our duty as adults, isn't it? …Despite speaking so arrogantly, in the end, I am unfit to be an adult, aren't I?
When I first played AM and got to the scene called "Entrusting the Future", I assumed Rodrigue was still talking about Glenn when he lamented how the dead can't return.
Rodrigue: We both have a disposition where we can't just live without purpose. Both Felix and me. I lived to serve him, the late King Lambert… to support him as his right hand. Having lost the king I should serve, having lost the purpose of my life… I thought about what I should live for… And in the end, I made fulfilling our promise my new purpose. Shez: A promise… What was the promise about? Rodrigue: He asked me to admonish and correct his child if he ever strayed from the right path.
But after playing AG, there was another scene called "Entrusting the Future". And I realized he was actually talking about Lambert all along, not Glenn. AM!Rodrigue understood why Felix hated him for his comment about Glenn's death and he didn't blame him.
Dimitri: Every time I see the expression of longing on your face when you remember my father, there's always a thought that crosses my mind. I wonder if you wished to live and die alongside him. Rodrigue: …Haha, you're overthinking it, Your Majesty. Despite appearances, I consider myself quite resilient. No, I didn't wish for my own death when Lambert passed. However… if it were to fulfill a promise with him, I believe I'd be satisfied to die.
The concept of "kasaneru" played a large role in Rodrigue's relationship with Dimitri. It was very telling that he decided that his new reason to live was not to help his surviving son get back on his feet, but instead keeping his promise to Lambert. Dimitri had strayed from the right path, but Rodrigue could not scold him. In VW, this enabling caused Dimitri to throw everyone's lives away at Gronder Field. In AM, when the consequences of Dimitri's actions came back to bite him, Rodrigue took the punishment on himself, stating how there are no sins or punishments on the battlefield.
Rodrigue: He left home on his own, and now… this foolish son of mine. Felix: I have no intention of returning to you. Nor do I have any intention of returning to that boar. Rodrigue: …When a child misbehaves, it's the parent's responsibility. Felix… right here and now, you'll die!
Yet Rodrigue said he would not have forgiven Glenn if he had run away at Duscur. He could not even forgive his own teenage son for an act of cowardice on the battlefield. And if Felix joins CF, he has absolutely NO problems punishing him with death. I could understand and empathize with Rodrigue more after playing AG. I don't think he was a bad person. But he was certainly a bad father. He valued Lambert's (and Dimitri's) life above all others, even his own. And even his own sons. And Felix could pick up on that.
Tumblr media
Felix: So, the old man's dead… Dimitri: Yes. Felix: I'll cut you down. Prepare yourself, you damn boar! Dimitri: Very well. Come at me, Felix!
There is unused dialogue that was apparently meant to be an alternate scenario based on whether Felix was defeated in Part 1 and was unrecruited in Part 2. I suspect much of his vitriol towards Dimitri in AM stemmed from jealousy over his father's affection. And because of him, he lost the chance to ever make up with his father. Their AM battle dialogue is the opposite of CF. This Felix had no hesitation cutting Dimitri out of his life violently and was prepared to die with him.
Felix: Sylvain, stand aside. My blade thirsts for his blood, not yours. Sylvain: Then surrender already. I don't want to fight you, either! Felix: …Sorry. That isn't up for discussion.
But he had no desire to fight Sylvain. Because they could not finish their Support chain, Felix could not reaffirm his promise and find a new reason to live. I'm sure Sylvain knew that he was throwing his life away by trying to kill Dimitri and he was desperate to stop him. It's hard to overstate just how much more emotional Sylvain sounded in the Japanese version. He really did NOT want to fight Felix.
Tumblr media
Rodrigue: Remember when I told you about the time I acted foolishly and got myself into trouble? Lambert broke through enemy lines and told me, "Don't waste your life." Although he was covered in wounds, so it wasn't very persuasive, was it? Dimitri: Haha, indeed. You two were truly good friends. I'm so envious of my father. Rodrigue: Haha, saying that would only make my son jealous. He'd ask, "What am I to you?"
As a descendant of the hero Fraldarius, Felix was expected to have the same kind of bond with Dimitri that Kyphon had with Loog and Rodrigue had with Lambert. But I never got the impression that he did. In Hopes, he inherits his father's title and position as the king's right-hand, similar to his solo ending in Houses.
His duty was to act as the Shield of Faerghus, and that involved protecting Dimitri, primarily from his own suicidal recklessness. That was a role he played in Houses as well, but he was mainly protecting Sylvain from himself instead of Dimitri. That's not to say that Felix did not care for Dimitri's safety in Houses. He just delegated those duties to Byleth, like when he asked her to "cage the boar".
Sylvain: Be careful, will you? …Jeez, you've even got bruises on your neck. If something were to happen to you, we don't know what will become of Faerghus, do we? Felix: I won't say it'll go smoothly without me, but I always assume I might die on the battlefield. Sylvain: Seriously, Felix… if you were to disappear now, what would happen to Faerghus and His Majesty?
It did not seem like being the Shield of Faerghus gave Felix a true sense of purpose or a reason to live. Sylvain's appeals for him to survive because Faerghus and Dimitri needed him did not seem to be very effective. In Hopes, he was pretty nonchalant about dying on the battlefield, causing Sylvain to scold him for being reckless. It was the exact opposite of their Houses Supports.
Sylvain: You and me, we'll support His Majesty and Faerghus, by complementing each other's weaknesses. Felix: …Yeah. Um… in the future too, I'll count on you. I hate to admit it, but I probably need you. Maybe. Besides… without you, everyone else would be insufferably gloomy. Sylvain: I get it. You don't have to say it. I'll always be with you, no matter what.
In Hopes, Felix was there to help Dimitri get back on his feet, both literally and figuratively. But Sylvain was the only one he could ever lean on. Felix was raised to believe it was his duty to be a literal human shield. And that's why it meant so much to him that Sylvain would always protect him.
Tumblr media
Shez: Well, you know, Sylvain, who always fights with you, ends up being swarmed by enemies... Felix: …That's because every time, he boasts about taking charge with nonsense like "Leave it to me." Well, I believe he'd manage to get through any predicament, no matter how dire.
There was a change in Felix's C-Support with Shez. The localization stated that Felix would always get surrounded by enemies when fighting with Sylvain. But in the Japanese, it was the opposite.
Matthias: Rodrigue, fall back with the duke. The escape route is secured… Leave it to me. Rodrigue: Matthias… What a fool. Make sure you come back alive. You must! Matthias: It's been a while since I've fought to protect a friend's back. My blood is boiling with youthful fervor! Claude: Risking your life to let allies escape, huh? That's the knightly spirit of Faerghus we admire.
When Matthias died in GW, he said he would be waiting for Rodrigue and Lambert on the other side. It's extremely similar to what Sylvain says when he dies in CF. And there were many parallels between Sylvain and his father in Hopes.
Felix: I can still stand… I can still wield my sword. I can still fight…! Tch… With injuries like these, I won't withdraw…! Sylvain: Felix! Stand down! Aww, look at you all beaten up… Leave this to us and fall back, okay? Felix: Ugh… You better come back. If you're planning to die, I won't forgive you, Sylvain!
When Dedue is low on health during the SB battle at Ailell, Dimitri begs him to fall back because he cannot afford to lose him. But when Felix is low on health and can no longer stand, Sylvain is the one who comes to his aid. Rodrigue made it clear that he expected his son to fight to the death. But because of Sylvain he retreats. His future with Sylvain was the reason he chose to keep on living.
Sylvain: Ah… Felix. I'm glad you're safe. Felix: You, always trying to protect me... Don't be reckless. Even though you're weak, you always, always...! Sylvain: It's fine as long as you're safe. As long as you're alive, I… Felix: You idiot! Don't joke like that. If you ever dare to die, I won't forgive you…!
It's more obvious in Japanese, but what Felix said to Sylvain at the Valley of Torment was almost the exact same as their A+ Support. Sylvain probably knew he was going to die, just like Matthias did in GW. He was fighting to the death as he avenged Ingrid. Even though he wanted to die together with him, if it came down to it, Sylvain was always content to sacrifice his life to let Felix live. He died as a true knight so that Felix wouldn't have to. Felix had the type of bond with Sylvain that he was supposed to have with Dimitri.
Tumblr media
Felix: …Well, I was prepared for it to come to this. With Father… and also with that boar, we'll eventually have to part ways.
Felix did not want to become a knight for many reasons. In Japanese, he used the phrase "袂を分かつ" (tasuki wo wakatsu). It literally means "to separate the sleeves" and is often used metaphorically. The imagery evokes the idea of two individuals going their separate ways, often signifying a farewell or divergence of paths. That is his entire motivation if he joins CF.
Felix: For the past five years, I've been fighting under the emperor. …I've slain quite a number of enemies. Now, I must look just like that boar from back then. …It's the face of a cruel beast that revels in blood and violence.
But if he takes that path, he becomes the very boar he hated.
Felix: …He's dead. I heard he was beheaded… But… I didn't see his head. If, by some chance, he's leading that army… Byleth: Are you truly ready to fight? Felix: …Don't underestimate me. Even if it's him, I'm prepared to kill.
In VW, Felix suspected that Dimitri was still alive all along. But he still chose to stay with the Alliance.
Felix: …I never truly understood his hatred and anguish towards the Empire. If it were me…could I have saved him? Could I have… stopped him?
Afterwards, he wondered if he could have saved him from dying like a wild boar. Even if he had stayed with the Kingdom, it wouldn't have made a difference. Only Byleth would have been able to stop him. Felix would have just died pointlessly at Gronder like everyone else. But there was no way for him to know that. In both routes, he suffers from regret and wishes he'd died alongside Dimitri. He is a lost soul, who lives only for the sword and fights with a will to die.
Felix & Sylvain (Non-AM) After the war, minor skirmishes continued throughout various regions in Fódlan. Felix, upon learning that there were battles still to be fought, chose to forsake his noble status and make a living as a swordsman. Over a decade later, he took on the role of a mercenary, and his employer turned out to be Sylvain, who had inherited the title of Margrave Gautier. The two of them were overjoyed to reunite, but their diverging paths meant that their fates would never intertwine further. After finishing his work, Felix left Sylvain's territory, embarking on another journey as a wanderer. It was a few years later when Sylvain received a sword that was unmistakably Felix's.
While Felix can eventually give up the sword and find some peace if he has a female partner, his paired ending with Sylvain is the single most tragic ending in the game. Despite having a chance reunion, Sylvain is unable to save him. While the reason for this is never stated, the Japanese ending offers a clue.
The phrase used in the Japanese ending is "道を違えた" (michi o tagaeta). It translates to "took the wrong path" or "strayed from the path." It implies making a mistake or deviating from the correct course of action, moral path, or intended direction. It emphasizes the idea of going astray or making an error in judgment.
Sylvain's arc was about realizing that his Crest did not decide his fate, he did. After Felix left him, he probably settled down with a random noblewoman, had children, and it was simply too late for him to start a new life with Felix. Because Felix went astray and chose an immoral path, it caused Sylvain to make a big mistake. Felix follows in Glenn's footsteps and dies alone, full of pain and regret. And I can't imagine that Sylvain's fate was any better when Felix's sword arrived on his doorstep. They can only be together in AM and their non-AM ending strongly emphasizes how that was the intended path for them.
Felix: Why did they die while I lived? …Even now, there's not a day I don't question. But I'm not as soft as you. I'll take my regrets to the grave. There are more important things to me now.
The localization did a faithful job with the Dimitri/Felix A-Support. It's just that, in Japanese, there was a line about how Felix would take any regrets to his grave. It was very similar to his A-Support with Rodrigue in Hopes. In AM, Rodrigue dies, and Felix never got to apologize for punching him. He even left a note in the confession box about that. But in Hopes, he could get closure with his father.
Felix and Dimitri's relationship was FAR from healthy. It probably would be much better for both of them to sever their rotten relationship once and for all and walk separate paths in life. And their A-Support was written with the idea that, if this was the final time Felix spoke to Dimitri one-on-one, that would be okay. He said what he needed to say and wouldn't have any regrets. Dimitri could sense his underlying compassion and was content to leave it at that.
Tumblr media
Flayn: But isn't there a future beyond that where Felix can avoid taking lives? Felix: …It's fine to dream of such a future, but I don't belong there. After all, I've been swinging a sword ever since I was born. ...Swordsmen are troublesome creatures. Fighting for peace, yet losing our purpose when peace finally arrives. Flayn: …Haha, if that's the case, you need not worry. […] If you felt like you lost your purpose in life, surely you would find a new purpose. It's not like you to fear loss. Felix: …...… You really are something, aren't you? Huh… I've never even thought about it. Maybe there is such a way of living after all. ...I'm starting to get interested. Perhaps swinging a sword for the future you dream of wouldn't be such a bad idea.
One way Felix resembled his father was that he couldn't live without a great purpose in life, and if he lost that purpose, he'd need something to fill the void. He needed a future to look forward to during peacetime. He was intrigued by the idea that one day he could chop wood, fruits, and vegetables instead of people.
Felix: A millennial festival? Talking about festivities at a time like this, you're as carefree as ever, huh… Sylvain: No, no. While it's a celebration, it's also a political gathering where rulers from various countries gather. It wouldn't hurt to think about the future, right? You can't stay uninvolved either. Felix: Well, that may be true. For now, focus on the battle at hand, Sylvain. If you die here, there won't be any millennial festival or anything. Sylvain: Oops, a valid point! Well then, for now, I'll quietly prepare for the deployment. Felix: Do that. Don't neglect your preparations and end up losing your life in some trivial place.
He wielded a sword because he was afraid of loss. Getting stronger would not fulfill him the same way a relationship could. His non-AM endings really emphasize the fact that the sword was just filling the void of a partner.
Felix: I find it easier to wield a sword than to hold a woman's hand.
But personally, I think he was the only gay character in 3H (well, other than perhaps his father). He got along well with women, but I was struck by how unromantic his paired endings with them were. He is the only man to propose to Byleth at the training grounds instead of the Goddess Tower. He spends a lot of time apart from her in their paired ending and is happiest exchanging swords instead of words when they actually do see each other. It felt more like he was replacing the loss of his brother through her than really being in love.
In his ending with Flayn, he continues to wield a sword as Dimitri's right-hand and only gives it up in favor of a quiet life on his estate when Dimitri dies. When he marries Mercedes, Bernadetta, or Dorothea, he becomes the king's right-hand and travels across Fódlan with Dimitri. He spends a lot of time away from Bernie. Dorothea has to accompany him on the battlefield to get quality time.
His ending with Leonie is not romantic and they just become drinking buddies. In his ending with Ingrid, he gives up the sword when he's injured and does not regret it. The only two female paired endings that don't mention warfare, swords, or knighthood are Annette and Lysithea. But it felt like he fell in love with singing, not Annette. And with Lysithea, she dies young and leaves behind her cake recipe.
Felix: You're not cut out to be a knight. How about you start seriously looking for a marriage partner? Ingrid: …What's that supposed to mean? Felix: Just as I said. Ingrid: I understand that you dislike things like chivalry and knightly pride. Just because of that, you keep running away from your duty as the heir of the house… You have no right to speak so high and mighty.
In Japanese Felix did tell Ingrid to go find a husband, but he used the word "結婚相手" (kekkon aite) instead of "夫" (otto) which means husband. "Kekkon aite" refers to someone whom you are seriously considering as a potential marriage partner but may not be formally engaged to or married yet. He wasn't telling her to go find the next man to offer a huge dowry and immediately get engaged.
He was saying that she would be better off dating, finding a serious partner that she loves, and eventually getting married. He did not say this in a disparaging way. He didn't want her to end up like Glenn nor did he want her to blindly follow the orders of a king who he considered bloodthirsty. He genuinely thought that being a wife would be a safer and more fulfilling lifestyle than being a knight.
Dimitri & Felix Dimitri formally succeeded to the throne of the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus after his coronation, dedicating his lifetime to the governance and reform of Fódlan. Behind many of his achievements stood Felix, the Duke of Fraldarius, who sometimes acted as the king's right-hand man and at other times served as his advisor. Bound by a lifelong steadfast friendship, it is said that Felix mourned more intensely at Dimitri's passing than even the queen herself. The tale of their lives, akin to the legendary Lion King Loog and his sworn friend Kyphon, will be passed down through the ages as one of the stories that adorn the history of Fódlan.
In any case, Felix was projecting his own feelings onto Ingrid. If you pair her with Dimitri, it says she supported him as a wife and queen, but still insisted on fighting on the front lines in battle like a knight. If you pair Felix with Dimitri, it says he mourned the king's death more than the queen. Ya know, the wife. Chivalry promotes homoromantic social bonding among men.
Rodrigue had a wife and kids, but he devoted his life to a married (presumably heterosexual) man. He used his position as "sworn friend" of the king to fill the void of an actual gay relationship. He lost his reason for living when Lambert died. In this ending, Felix ends up following in his father's footsteps. I don't think that's a satisfying ending for him.
Dimitri/Felix: "彼らは生涯固い友情で結ばれ" means "They were bound by a lifelong strong friendship." This phrase emphasizes the steadfast and enduring nature of their friendship. The word "固い" means "firm" or "strong," implying a friendship that is resilient and unwavering. Sylvain/Felix: "生涯無二の友であり続けた" means "They remained lifelong inseparable friends." This phrase emphasizes the unique and unparalleled nature of their friendship. The term "無二" means "unparalleled" or "incomparable," suggesting that their bond was extraordinary and unmatched.
I would also like to compare the descriptions of friendship in the Dimitri/Felix ending to the Sylvain/Felix ending. Both phrases convey a deep sense of friendship, but they emphasize slightly different aspects. Dimitri/Felix emphasizes the enduring strength and solidity of their bond. In terms of depth, Sylvain/Felix carries a stronger sense of exclusivity and uniqueness in their friendship.
The term "無二" was also used in Ingrid's AM paired endings with Ashe and Dedue. Her arc was about belonging to herself, not a man. She wanted to go down in history as a knight, not as a wife. For that reason, her paired endings with Ashe and Dedue in AM don't specify her marital status. But the writers still wanted to suggest that she and her male partner were possibly lovers. So "無二" was chosen to emphasize their inseparable bond.
Tumblr media
Felix & Sylvain (AM) Felix, who succeeded his deceased father Rodrigue as Duke Fraldarius, and Sylvain, who inherited the title of Margrave Gautier after his father's passing, both devoted their efforts to the restoration and prosperity of the Kingdom. Even amidst their busy days, their friendship never wavered. Felix would occasionally show up at the Gautier family's residence and insult Sylvain, and Sylvain, in turn, would visit the Fraldarius house frequently, solely to tease Felix. Throughout their lives, they remained inseparable friends, and there is even an anecdote that they coincidentally passed away on the same day.
In this ending, both men inherit their fathers' titles, but neither of them is forced to fulfill their unwanted patriarchal duty. Their bond is characterized by mutual devotion, not chivalry or bloodline. Their relationship effectively goes back to how it was when they were kids. Sylvain is free to go where he wants and spends his life with someone he loves, not just someone he can have Crest babies with. While he becomes a famous cheater in his solo ending, and a renowned lord in his others, here historians remember him most for his closeness with Felix.
Like Rodrigue, Felix wished to live and die alongside another man. When paired with most of his wives, he becomes the king's right-hand, a role that would require him to wield a sword and travel. But not in this ending. He stays in Fraldarius territory so he can be available for frequent surprise visits. Sylvain was his true purpose in life, and neither can live without the other. And to me, that is the ideal ending to both of their character arcs. The Shield of Faerghus died like a true knight. "The Shield's Successor" died like a true wife.

How do you're ocs treat Reader to a self care day?
Theodore is beating his chest with thunderous hands and opens his arms wide and that is your cue to fucking jump on him and let him cuddle you- cuddle the sadness, the depression, the fatigue OUT OF YOU. At least thats his idea of self care (that and shooting people... and breaking stuff... and causing chaos and destruction) but he'll compromise and do whatever you wanna do, as long as he gets to grumble and hold your hand (at least, he loves physical intimacy). Honestly, u can get him to agree anything u want if u just give him a kiss on the nose- and he will instantly melt. He will still complain, thats non negotiable.
Dimitri is a man of money. He will spend his entire account on you if it pleases you, and if retail therapy is your thing, girl u just hit the jackpot. Of course, hes down for seggsy times too, but thats really his idea of self care and if you wanna do something else, he can put his needs aside for now even though he promises you would've felt 100000 times better by the time he was done with you. But like i said, he's a rich guy, he will give u his credit cards and money if u wanna do something else. Hell, he's even rained them bills on you. "Do you want to jump on a pile of money, pchelka? Hm? I can arrange that for you, darling." (pchelka = little bee)
Eros... the golden boy, the charmer. He will literally sweep u off your feet with how sweet and caring he is omg he will actually drop everything he's doing the moment he hears you sigh out the wrong way. Like you take one breath way too deeply and he's right in front of you, holding your face ever so gently and asking you whats wrong. And you dont even need to tell him anything because he's just so darn smart and he can read you like an open book and thus, he knows what you need. He knows if its a "retail therapy" kinda day or "stay at home, do face masks and watch comfort movies" or "take long bubble baths together" kinda day. Please rant to him, he pays close attention to all of it and has the best and most appropriate reactions and... he just loves your voice. And the thing with Eros is that he doesnt just make it a self car day- no, its a self care days/week/months or however long HE deems that you need it. He's the best, i love him.
Magnus is... not the dude u wanna self care with. Like dont come to him and say "can i have some space/leave the house for a while because I desperately need some me time." because to him that means he needs to STEP TF UP and be there more for you as if u werent already tired of him breathing down your neck 24/7. "Hm, what did you say? You want some space? Oh but angel, that's not what you need. No, silly! God made us for each other, we're soulmates! And we need to be there for each other, in sickness and in health! Aww but I don't blame you for getting confused about what your body needs! Its what happens when you dont have a baby in you. And it has been a while since we had our last! I think its time for baby number 8! :D" And you best believe the cult members are glaring at you through the windows of your house, pointing their pitchforks at you to fucking follow your husband to the bedroom and let him put another baby in you or they will come in to help him do just that (and maybe beat u up a little when he's gone for baby shopping).
You say self care and Lucifer's mind goes to torturing souls and eternal damnation. But thats what he likes, and now that he likes you, he will let you express your preferences. I mean, personally he would kinda try to get u into adding more oil into the fire that burns souls, but he knows you dont like it when they scream... maybe he can pull their vocal cords out?? Hm, maybe. Lucifer allows u to do whatever you wanna do as long as you do it in hell/within the premises of his home(castle, really. Real edgy dark, satany theme going on). One time, you wanted someone to just hold u and since Lucifer is the only one who is allowed to touch you, you climbed into his lap and let him hold u for hours as he sat on his throne, and he swears he's never felt more content in his life than with you softly snoring in his arms and shuffling closer to him every now and then, with him carding a hand through your hair and kissing your soft cheeks.

To Call You Mine
Chapter 1
Summary: Natasha has wanted Y/n as her Alpha for years, and Y/n has wanted Nat as her Omega for just as long. So why aren't they mated? Bruce. His jealousy and obsessiveness for Natasha lead him to forcibly claim her and force her to bear his pup, thinking Nat chose him instead Y/n backs off but never loses her love for the Russian.  Natasha now fears Y/n could never want her, especially now that she's had Bruce's pup and even if she did Bruce would never let her go, so she has little hope. Frustrated by watching her best friend live with an abusive Alpha she hates instead of the Alpha she loves, Wanda will do anything to make sure Natasha gets her happy ending with Y/n, the Alpha she desires.

Natasha smiles as her young pup babbles as he attempts to stand on wobbly legs. He soon falls right back over, softly landing on his butt in the grass before he looks back up at his mother. From beside her, she can hear Wanda chuckle.
“He’s getting there” she says, smiling
Nat nods, “Yeah. He's pretty determined. He should be walking soon”
Suddenly a familiar scent hits her and her gaze shifts to you. She smiles, content to be in your presence and her eyes take in your form. Your muscles look a bit more defined since she’s seen you last and she finds herself longing to feel your arms wrapped around her.
“You're staring at her again” Wanda tells her, her tone teasing
A blush covers the Russians cheeks before her expression turns to one of sadness, “Stop. You know I can’t. I…I have Bruce.”
“You mean Bruce has you.” Wanda sighs, looking at her friend sadly, “We both know he isn’t the Alpha you wanted to be bonded with. We both know how he claimed you against your will and forced you to carry his pup. We both know you want her.”
A small and soft whine leaves the redhead, “But I can’t have her. She doesn’t want me. And Bruce would never allow me to leave.”
“You don’t know she doesn't want you Nat”
“I do” she replies, “No one would want an Omega who's already had another Alphas pup. Besides, If she wanted me, wouldn’t she have tried to claim me?”
“That's just not true Nat. Especially for her, Y/n would love Dimitri like her own.” she sighs, “Honey, she flirted with you all the time. I saw the way she looked at you, still, looks at you. She wanted to claim you, but then when Bruce did what he did….I think she thought you wanted that. Wanted him.”
“It doesn’t matter. He would never let me leave him.” she sighs
A silence settles over them after that, and they watch as you talk with Sharon over near the park's pond. A tightness forms in Natashas chest as she watches the other Omega put her hand on your arm as you both laugh. Suddenly though your gaze moves over to the two Omegas sitting near the oak tree and a smile spreads across your face. You excuse yourself from the blonde and make your way over to them, greeting the young pup first.
“Look at you little man!” you excitedly exclaim, getting him to smile, “You’ll be walking in no time, then you’ll really be a menace to your mom.”
Natasha smiles as you lift Dimitri up and spin him around, and for a brief moment she allows herself to pretend that you were hers, playing with the pup the two of you had. She imagines what her life would be like with you. Calm and peaceful. Filled with care, safety and love. Everything she doesn't currently have, but desperately wants. She's brought out of her thoughts when you greet her.
“Hey Natasha” you say with a smile that makes her heart yearn for you even more, “Hey Wanda.”
“Hey Y/n. How are you?” Wanda asks, knowing her best friend needs a moment to find her voice
“I’m good. Just enjoying today's nice weather.” you reply, “You guys?”
“I’m great. Vis just got a promotion so we’re confident we’re in a good spot to try for pups now.” Wanda answers with a large smile
Your smile matches hers, “Wanda, that's wonderful! What about you Nat?”
“I’m…” she trails off briefly, contemplating being completely honest with you, but decides against it. “I’m alright. Excited to see Dimitri walk soon. I’m sure it would please Bruce as well.”
Your smile fades slightly, like you don’t fully believe her, “Yeah. Yeah, I’m sure”
The pup in your embrace whines suddenly, extending his little hands towards his mother. You get the idea and swiftly hand him to her. She readily takes him, holding him on her lap as she hands him a small toy. She places a quick kiss to his chubby little cheek, admiring the way that a bit of your scent lingers on him.
“So you ran into Sharon hm?” Wanda asks in an attempt to both get you to stay and also see if you were looking for a mate
“Oh, yeah.” you reply, sitting down with them, “Yeah. She uh, well, she asked me to dinner.”
Natasha can feel her insides twist at this. This wasn’t how things were supposed to happen. She wasn’t supposed to be Bruces’ and bear his pup. Sharon wasn’t meant to be your Omega, she was. It’s what she's wanted since highschool. But Bruce ruined that and not only did she have to endure everything he threw at her, she now had to watch as you took another Omega as your own.
“Oh” Wanda replies, feeling the pain radiating off of her best friend, “When?”
“Next Tuesday. It was the only day the restaurant could fit us in.” you explain, but you can't help the sinking feeling in your chest. Sure Sharon was nice and beautiful, but she wasn’t the true Omega you longed for. But she was claimed, so you’d have to move on. Afterall it had been a year and a half. You can’t mope around and mourn lost love forever.
Natasha wants to cry. She wants to ask, no, to beg you not to go. She wants to tell you how much she loves you, how she wants to be yours and have a life with you. Explain how she never wanted this life with Bruce, how she would never choose an Alpha, especially an Alpha like him, over you.
Wanda watches her friend, and for a moment she thinks she may finally tell you everything. But then his voice can be heard, causing both Omegas to tense up.
“Natasha!” he yells, unnecessarily, “Tashchi syuda svoyu bespoleznuyu zadnitsu. V nastoyashcheye vremya!(Bring your worthless ass over here! Now!)”
Tears build in her eyes as her bottom lip trembles slightly, “I have to go. Thanks for spending the day with me Wans. Y/n- ”
“Omega!” he shouts again, causing her to jump slightly as she stands, “YA ne budu govorit' vam snova. Privedi syuda moyego syna seychas zhe, ili ty pozhaleyesh' ob etom.(I will not tell you again. Bring my son over here now or you will regret it!)”
“It was good to see you.” she says before making her over to where the Alpha stands by the sidewalk with his car
You hadn't missed how his tone had upset Natasha and angered Wanda. You knew a few words in Russian thanks to Yelena, but you were far from fluent. You knew Wanda was though. You knew she had understood every single word.
“What did he say?” you ask, curiosity getting the best of you
Wanda's eyes widened, she hadn’t anticipated you to ask. You never had before. But his attitude and their reactions today must have changed that. She debates with herself. Does she tell you the truth, tell you everything Bruce does to Natasha, tell you how the Omega feels about you?
“Wanda.” your voice calls her back to the situation at hand
“He called her worthless.” she answers before she can stop herself, “He said if she didn’t take Dimitri over there then now, he’d make her regret it.”
Your stomach drops and your jaw tenses, “Does he hurt her?”
Her eyes drop, focusing on the grass near her feet instead of your face. She wants to tell you that yes, he does. He yells at her, hits her, chokes her, had forcibly claimed her. But at the same time she doesn’t want to make Natasha uncomfortable by telling you such things. Yet again, you wouldn’t judge the Russian, hell you’d probably help her. Afterall she could tell how badly you wanted her best friend still and she knows Nat feels the same for you. She hopes she doesn’t regret this.
   “Yes. He hurts her.”
You growl, “How long? Did it start when she claimed him, or after Dimitri was born?”
   “Y/n, Natasha never claimed Bruce.”
“What are you talking about? He's her Alpha.” you retort, confusion evident on your face
She shakes her head, “He’s not. She never wanted him, but he didn’t care. He wanted her, so he…” she doesn’t finish the sentence. She just can’t bring herself to say it out loud. But you don’t need her to. You understand.
You growl again. Your stomach lurches and your heart clenches. How had you been so oblivious? Guilt naws at you for not noticing her discomfort with the Alpha, but looking back on it now you realize you had seen the subtle clues. The way she would flinch at times, how she took every opportunity to leave her house. How depressed she had been when she first found out she was with pup, how you always saw Bruce initiate any pda. How she didn’t like loud sounds, how Bruce almost always had a grip on her out in public. How you've been seeing less and less of her lately. At the time you hadn’t looked at those things as deeply as you should have because you were convinced he was the Alpha she wanted. You were convinced she was happy.
You feel even more guilt then. If you hadn't waited so long and simply offered yourself to her all those years ago then maybe none of this would have happened. Maybe she actually would have let you claim her, then she wouldn’t be suffering with an asshole for an Alpha and the two of you would be happy together as mates.
You stand abruptly, feeling like you've failed the Omega you loved. You find yourself wanting to be alone as you think of what you can do to help her, “Thank you for telling me Wanda. I’ll…I’ll figure something out. But right now I have to go.”
She watches you leave, a sadness in her as she knows the swirl of emotions she's just made you feel. It wasn’t her intention but Natasha needs out of there and away from Bruce, and you deserved to know what was going on. Still she knows it will take time for you to digest all this information. Once it settles she hopes she can convince Natasha to run to you and never look back.

oh lord its the way i’m ALSO super latched onto fire emblem right now! may i put in a request for dimitri comforting the reader during/after a nightmare maybe? i just NEEEEED some form of dimitri fluffy comfort in my time of depression. thank you 🥺🥺
YES!!!! dimitri stans rise up. i love this man sm. it’s pre timeskip dimitri bc im replaying three houses right now and he’s the freshest in my mind. sorry if it’s a little short/it’s not entirely accurate to his character, im very rusty in my fic writing but i did my best :) i hope u enjoy, tysm for the request!!
The first time you’d had a nightmare, Dimitri wasn’t asleep. He found sleep never came easy for him, as he himself was regularly plagued with nightmares and the ever present need for revenge. It kept him awake, kept his heart hammering, pumping blood through his body and thoughts through his brain. He’d lain awake, reading at candlelight at his desk for the past few hours, his bed neatly made.
The knock at the door broke his quiet thoughts into pieces like a fist to glass. Picking his head up away from his book, he wrinkled his eyebrows. Who could that be, at this ridiculous hour?
His initial shock melted into worry. Was something the matter? Something serious? Memories of Duscur pricked at his mind, causing the hair on his arms to raise. He stood from his desk, pushing the chair in behind him and taking his candle, and warily made his way to the door.
Outside in the cold, misty dark of night, you stood alone. Shivering and clutching a coat around you, your eyes fixed on the ground in front of you. Something swam in your (e/c) eyes- something Dimitri could read all too well. It was fear. You were shaken up about something, and naturally, Dimitri began to grow even more worried. You two had been dating for a few months at this point. It all began when Dimitri asked you out after Sylvain had pushed him into it, but he’d always been drawn to you. Your strength, your positivity, your warm friendliness, your genuine kindness you showed to everybody. You were everything he couldn’t be, and it made him fall, and fall hard.
“I-Is something the matter? Is everything okay? You look cold, come inside.” Furrowing his brow, he ushered you in, closing the door behind you. You sat down on his bed, silent, your eyes fixed on your knees. The second you heard the door close, your tears began. Violent sobs racked your shoulders as you curled inwards on yourself, as if trying to hide from the world and hide from him. Concern ran cold through his blood, urging him to sit beside you and wrap an arm around you, pulling you close against his shoulder. He was warm, so warm, and it made you subconsciously shift closer to him.
A thousand thoughts filled his head. He had no idea how to comfort someone. What should he do? Ask what’s wrong? Say nothing and just hold you until you calmed down? Call for help? Find and give a… stern talking to whoever made you upset?
Finally he got himself to wrap an arm around your shoulders. You leaned into him, his warmth comforting as you cried. To him, it felt like hours passed, you curled up against him crying while he stood there stiffly not sure how to react. In reality, it was only 10 minutes when you looked up at him with red tinged eyes, your cheeks damp with tears.
“S-Sorry. I didn’t know where else to go.” You whispered. Dimitri’s blue eyes widened a little, his grip on you tightening.
“Please, don’t apologize! It’s alright. Are you alright? Did something happen?” He pulled his hand off your shoulder, shifting it to hesitate right above your waist. Poor guy had no idea how to comfort.
“I had a nightmare.” You looked down at your lap, the light leaving your eyes as the memory of the dream began to return to you. It causes more tears to pool in your eyes, which he noticed.
Damn it all, he thought as he wrapped both arms protectively around you. You wanted to feel safe. He may not have known how to correctly comfort his partner, but you liked tight hugs, yes?
Empathy crashed through him like waves on a rocky beach. Nightmares were something he struggled with every single night of his life. Horror movies of his father’s murder, the flames of Duscur, the screams of the innocent people around him played behind his eyelids every night. It kept him awake, kept him from being able to sleep. Kept him in the training grounds or the library, mind focused on revenge. It consumed him, and now it was consuming you, and he couldn’t take that. Your suffering was the worst thing he could possibly imagine.
He didn’t press aboht what the nightmare was about. All he did was gently lay back, you still comfortable in his arms. You nuzzled closely against his chest, and he rested his face against your head.
“You’re safe here.” His voice was a gentle whisper, only for you to hear. And you knew that. Safe here, in the iron arms of your boyfriend. He was insanely strong and driven, but even if he wasn’t, you knew he’d stop at nothing to keep you safe. He’d lost everything. You were the only one he truly had left.
Gentle hands rubbing circles into your back helped lull you back to sleep, your breathing steadying as Dimitri held you. However, sleep evaded him. He needed to be there for you, be awake in case the nightmare came back and you awoke in tears again. He needed to be awake and alert in case something happened. You were so tired, so vulnerable asleep against him. He needed to make sure no harm came to you. You placed your trust in him. He wouldn’t let anybody harm you as long as he was there.
Keeping alert, he found himself studying your sleeping features. Your (skin color) skin, so soft under his fingertips as he brushed his hands over your cheeks. Your (hair color) hair, pooling on top of the pillow underneath you, tickling his face as he kissed the top of your head. He’d keep you safe. He’d keep you protected.
As long as you were by his side, no harm would ever come to you.
He’d never let it.

I know that Andrei is literally the cutest girl dad in the world, but He's also a boy dad so I imagine doing things with Dimitri like.
-buying first hockey kit
-teaching him how to play hockey
-Fishing trips with Uncle Geno
-🎀
okay i feel like i don’t give boy dad drei enough attention! but that changes now! 🥰
so andrei isn’t the kind of guy that needed to have a son, like he would’ve been just as happy with four girls or five girls, but when dimitri is born, he’s really really thrilled
there’s something about being able to pass his name down to his son and get to be a boy dad that’s really special
he has a great bond with all the kids, but you love seeing him with his sons
andrei’s always talking to them about growing up to be good men and respectful of women and people in general
when it’s just dimitri, he and geno joke that they’re gonna get t-shirts for the “svechnikov boys club” and they both love hanging out with their sons - at this point i picture geno with kids too (like a girl and a boy because he doesn’t have the same breeding kink that you and andrei have lol)
then two years later maks joins the party and andrei is just beyond thrilled to have two sons and he wants to make sure that they’re as close as he and geno are but you know you can’t force a brotherly relationship
luckily, they are really really close and it’s adorable to see their little matching blond heads bent together while they conspire against their big sisters
andrei loves taking all the kids onto the hockey rink for skates with dad, but when the boys express interest in playing hockey, you think he’s going to die of excitement
you let him had full run of buying the gear and practicing with them - he’s a little bummed when neither one wants to play forward, but you know it’s probably for the best so that neither is directly compared to andrei or geno
the three of them love to play wrestle when the boys are young and they play floor hockey before playing real hockey
andrei retires when the kids are still young-ish so he brings them to canes’ games at least 2-3 times a month
he’s never missed a school event or a sporting event or major milestone, unless he’s playing an away game and can’t avoid it
they learn how to do diy home projects or work on the cars together
andrei teaches all five kids how to drive because you’re way too nervous to do it and honestly, he’s not the best driver in the world either, so you’re mildly concerned that you’re sending five terrible drivers onto the road, but he does a really good job of it and all five make it their first year of driving without getting any tickets or into any accidents
every year andrei and geno take the the three sons on a week long fishing trip. sometimes igor joins them, but usually it’s just fathers and sons and you always love getting the pictures that andrei sends when one of the boys manages to catch a fish that’s bigger than their whole body
after the week, they all come home dirty and salty and smelling vaguely of fish, but they’re always beaming with happiness and andrei always has this look in his eyes and you know that they’re all going to carry the memories for the rest of their lives
and they do - eventually andrei becomes the grandpa on the trip and dimitri and maks bring their sons on the fishing trip and it’s just really cute all around
when the boys get drafted to different states (and countries, in dimitri’s case) they’re constantly calling and texting andrei for advice and guidance
both boys idolise andrei and geno and look up to them. andrei’s their favorite person in the world and they both just want to do him proud
your greatest achievement is the relationship you both have with all five kids and the fact that they’ve grown up to be generous, respectful, ambitious adults with huge hearts and love for the family - they all call home regularly and travel to see each other and have an amazing bond
he’s also made it clear to all five kids that either one of you will pick them up from any situation, no matter what, no judgement passed. he’s only had to do it once, picking up maks from a party that got out of control through no fault of his own. the kids are generally well behaved and avoid potentially messy situations
importantly, he’s never treated the boys any different from the girls. they’re all loved exactly equally and he’s never shown favoritism to the body simply because they’re boys

Coming soon…
'cause I want you (for the worse and for the better) by nonsensedarling
When Louis gets invited along to Anne's wedding, Harry is prepared to let people think whatever they want about their relationship. That's what Louis said -- let people think whatever they want. That all changes when Louis sees his ex, who turns out to be Anne's future husband's son. Now, Louis wants to prove that he's an omega that an alpha could want, and Harry wants to get through this weekend without letting his best friend figure out he's in love with him.
Written for the @1daboficfest -- posted here! Moodboard by @dearlou
Read a snippet below the cut!
They walk into the restaurant at 7:02pm, and are promptly guided down a set of stairs into the lower-level party room.
From the doorway, Harry can see his mom and future stepdad, talking to a couple of younger guys – a dark-haired alpha and a blonde omega from the looks of it. They all laugh and his mom goes in to give one of them a hug while John clasps the other on the shoulder. That must be John’s son and the boyfriend Harry’s heard them talk about.
Harry takes a deep breath, smoothes out his shirt, and reaches for Louis’ hand, ready to walk in and muscle his way through this weekend.
But Louis doesn’t take his hand. Instead, he grabs onto Harry’s wrist and yanks him in the opposite direction.
“What?” Harry asks, stumbling a bit as he’s pulled.
Louis doesn’t say anything, just gets to the restroom area and shoves Harry inside one of the single-room bathroom.
“Ouch,” Harry says, shaking out his wrist. He watches Louis lock the door and whip around with wild eyes and frown lines etched into his face. “Louis, what the fuck? We’re already lat–”
“Will is here,” he says.
Harry furrows his brows, unsure what that is supposed to mean. “Will…?”
“Will,” Louis says frustratedly. He looks to the door as he adds, “Will. My ex-boyfriend, Will. Will, who broke up with me after three months because he thought I was too loud and too clingy and too much.” He turns back around to Harry to emphasize, “Will!”
Harry gasps. Ex-boyfriend Will, who refused to meet Harry because he didn’t like that Louis had an alpha best friend. “Dickhead Will?”
“Dickhead Will,” Louis agrees. “Fuck. Fuck.” He reaches up and grabs fistfuls of his hair.
What are the odds that Louis’ ex-boyfriend from Oakland is here in Sacramento now, working at the one restaurant where his mom’s rehearsal dinner is?
“Hey, it’s okay.” Harry steps close, and tries to pull Louis’ hands down from his hair, but they don’t budge. “We can ignore him, yeah? It’s just toni–”
“He was hugging your mom,” Louis interrupts.
Harry is confused. He shakes his head immediately, ready to say that no, that was his future stepdad’s son – when it clicks.
“William,” Harry says.
“Yes,” Louis says, annoyed, finally pulling his hands down from his hair. “Will is often short for William. Very good, Harold.”
“No. John’s son is named William,” he explains. “He’s John’s best man. They’ve been talking about William and Dimitri – his boyfriend.”
Louis pales. “Jesus Christ.”
“Okay, it’s okay,” Harry says, looking around the room like the sink or toilet will tell him how to handle this. “We’ll just… avoid them.”
The look Louis gives him is unimpressed to say the least. “Avoid them?” he asks, voice filled with mirth. “You –also in the wedding and the co-person of honor with your sister– want to try and avoid another person in the wedding party?”
Harry inhales, his shoulders slowly rising up to his ears as he closes his eyes. “I don’t know, Louis, I’m trying to think of what will make this easier on you. I’m not sure how affectionate they are, but I don’t want you having to see it the whole weekend.”
Harry opens his eyes when he feels hand digging into his shoulders. Louis gives him a little shake, eyes still wild but frown lines mostly unetched.
“That’s it!” he exclaims.
“What’s it?”
“Affection!”
Humming uncertainly, Harry says, “Affection?”
Louis shakes him again. “Yes.” He looks over Harry’s shoulder as he continues. “That bastard called me clingy, and basically told me an alpha wouldn’t be able to put up with it.” He locks eyes with Harry again. “I can show him I did find an alpha who not only puts up with it, but loves it.”

Eagle under the lions paw pt 3
Tumblr media
You and Dimitri did end up spending more time outside of training, having meals at the dinner hall, and doing errands together. It was nice to finally know the one you were so desperate to meet all those years ago.
"So what's up with you and Dimitri? I knew you guys sparred together but you two have been noticeably closer as of late" Dorathea brought up before sipping her tea.
"We've just hit it off" you replied. You noticed her eyebrow raised.
"Just as friends of course" you blurted out.
"(Y/n) You know you can trust me to keep a secret" she assured you.
"I swear we're just friends" you replied.
"Ok, it's just I've noticed the way he's been looking at you since you arrived at the academy," she said.
"What do you mean by that?" You asked.
"You haven't noticed? He looks at you the same way a lost little puppy would. He looks at you with absolute adoration, honestly, I'm a little jealous" she sighed.
Was Dorathea right? Did Dimitri like you romantically? You didn't know how to feel about it. Yes, he was strong, handsome and kind. All qualities that a spouse should have but you didn't really see him as a romantic partner.
"I don't really see him in a romantic way" you replied.
"Then you should probably tell him, it's better to let him know soon than lead him on" she advised.
"But what if he doesn't have a romantic interest? Then it'd be embarrassing" you asked.
"Trust me, even if it's all platonic it's better to draw that line before things get messy" she explained.
That conversation has been playing on loop in your mind since then. You felt a wood tap on your hip that shook you out of your trance.
"Are you alright?" Dimitri asked you.
"Yes, sorry I was just thinking about class this morning" you lied.
"Finding it overwhelming? If you want we can cut the training short today" he offered.
"No, I can continue. After all the battle of the eagle and the lion is only a few weeks away, there's no way I can slack off now" you replied.
"You're not confident in your abilities?" He asked.
"I'm confident but I have no idea about everyone else's skills, and if I am unfortunate enough to get pitted against you then there's no way I'd win" you replied.
"You shouldn't be hard on yourself, all you can do is try your best, it is a mock battle after all," he told you. You could see why Dorathea said what she did about how he looks at you. A soft and kind expression was always plastered on his face when you were around him but it wasn't enough to be evident that he did have feelings for you.
🦅🦅🦅
"Edelgard and I have discussed the plan for the upcoming battle of the eagle and the lion" Manuela addressed the class as she crudely drew a map of gronder field.
"This battle will be against both the blue lions and the golden deer so we must effectively fight both teams.
"So we must separate to take on both teams," she said before drawing three arrows from the left side, one to the top, one to the right, and one to the center.
"Caspar and Ferdinand will advance north to the lions, Linhardt and Hubert will follow behind to provide support" she addressed the three.
"Edelgard and Petra will advance to the east and take on the deers with Dorathea providing support"
"This central fort is an advantage for archers so try to stop the other teams from capturing it and allow Bernadetta to claim it" she was explaining before a shriek was heard.
"No I don't want to be in the center, I wouldn't last a minute there!" Bernadetta retorted.
"That is why (Y/n) will cover for you" Manuela reassured.
"Don't worry, it should be a piece of cake Bernie. With everyone else, it makes it easier to pick off anyone who gets too close" you tried to reassure Bernadetta who was obviously stressed.
"If things get too tough I'll cover you," you said.
🦅🦅🦅
You signaled Bernadetta to take the position at the fort while there was a clearing.
"I hope this ends soon…" she muttered as she got into her position after hopping off her horse.
"So do I" you replied as you looked out. The golden deer had suffered a significant loss. Not that the Eagles were doing much better. You could see that both Casper and Ferdinand were walking off the field, while Hubert and Linhardt retreated to the east to form up with Edelgard and Petra.
"Bernie, you might want to start firing now" you advised, earning a shriek from her.
"Where?!" She struggled to make out.
"North, Sylvain, and Dedue are coming. You take out Sylvain and I'll stop Dedue" you suggested.
"Ok…" she replied before you moved forward to stop them getting through.
"Dedue you fall back to cover Ashe, I'll try capturing the fort" Sylvain told Dedue.
This wasn't good, Sylvain was now in a blind spot for Bernie and Dedue was leaving range.
"Hey you're the girl I've seen Dimitri hanging around recently" he commented.
"So what of it?" You asked him as you approached him.
"Nothing just realized it was you," he said as he tried to strike you and you dodged.
"You're pretty cute, maybe after this is over we could get something to eat?" he proposed. You could feel the heat in your cheeks rise. You swung your lance towards him with enough force to knock it out of his hands.
"Whoa, you're feisty!" He exclaimed.
"I'm sorry, I didn't hurt you did I" you asked, shocked that you'd managed to knock it straight out of his grip.
"I'm fine, just didn't have a good grip… I guess I'll have to forfeit" he told you as he picked up his lance.
"My offer's still open by the way," he told you before he walked off the field.
You had very little time to relax before you saw Dimitri's approach.
"Bernie fall back!" You shouted earning another shriek from her. The Blue Loins were overwhelming in comparison to your house. You readied yourself knowing you'd certainly fail but still like Dimitri told you, you'd have to give it your best shot. You charged toward him and tried to strike him overhead, however, he blocked and pushed you back. He then tried to counter but you barely avoided him as you tried to center yourself.
You tried desperately to best him but he always manages to block your attacks. You can barely keep a good grip on your lance with the force that he strikes back with. Then you hear a crack and feel his lance hit your ribs. The air in your lungs was knocked out of you as you hit the ground, unable to comprehend what happened til you tried to get up, realizing that your lance was snapped in half and feeling a horrible pain in your side causing you to yelp in pain.
"(Y/n) I'm so sorry!" He exclaimed as he kneeled to you. He looked at you with horror.
"Are you alright? Do you need help getting up? I swear I didn't mean to hurt you" he asked, panic evident in his voice. He hadn't realized how hard he was hitting with the adrenalin pumping in his blood.
"I know you didn't mean it…" you replied between labored breaths as you tried to stand.
Dimitri took notice of your pain and helped you up. "Do you want me to help you get back to camp?" He offered. But you shook your head and declined.
"I should be fine. Besides, you have to support your team" you told him. In honesty, you did need help but you didn't want to burden him, as helping you would also count him as retreating. You walked forward a bit before flagging Bernadetta to come over and support you.
"Oh goddess, he nearly killed you…" she stuttered as she let you lean on her for support.
"No, he didn't, I'm sure it'll just be a bruise" you tried to calm her as she took you to the infirmary tent.
Manuela inspected your injury for a while before giving you some medicine.
"You've got a bruised ribcage, I can't really do much except give you some pain relief and suggest you take it easy for the next month," she told you before handing you a glass of water.
"I can't believe how quickly the blue lions managed to advance. They barely gave you guys breathing space, that new professor really is something" she sighed.
You swallowed the bitter medicine she had offered and drank your water before noticing Edelgard in the corner of your eye.
"Did you get injured too?" You asked.
"No, I wanted to check up on you. I heard from Bernadetta that you were hurt" she replied with a hint of worry in her voice.
"Manuela told me I've got a bruised ribcage, I've just got to take it easy for a month" you replied trying to play it off as something minor.
"How did you manage to bruise your rib?" She asked as she grabbed a nearby ice pack and gently pressed it against your ribs.
"My lance ended up snapping in half while fighting Dimitri and his lance ended up hitting my ribs" you explained.
"(Y/n) You need to be more careful… I don't want anything happening to you" she said to you in an almost sorrowful tone, yet you still could feel her reservation.
"Edel, I'll be fine for now. But I promise you I'll be more careful, as long as you promise me the same.
A small smile formed on her lips yet her eyes showed that she was upset.
"I promise," she said as she held out her pinkie finger.
"I'll hold you to it" you replied before wrapping your finger around hers.
"And so will I," she told you.
"You should rest now, I don't want you getting hurt again," she told you before leaving.
So you lay staring at the top of the tent for what seemed like forever. A few more students entered suffering from far less than you had. From what you could hear amongst them the blue lions had a firm lead, now only Claude, Hilda, Petra, and Linhardt remained compared to the nearly unscathed blue lions.
Then you heard the sound of a horn. It was over. You wished you had just given up your position and avoided Dimitri, maybe that would have given your team more of a chance. Everyone was beginning to pack up. You sat up and surprisingly your ribs didn't hurt as much, now more of a dull pain thanks to the medicine.
"(Y/n) are you alright?" Dimitri asked as he entered the tent.
"I am, I just have to take it easy for a bit," you told him.
"I'm sorry" he kneeled beside you.
"It's fine, I know you didn't mean it. Obviously, my lance wasn't that well crafted" you told him.
"I still feel awful for it, tomorrow I'll get you a replacement," he said.
"No, you don't have to" you retorted.
"No it's the least I could do to apologize," he told you.
You stood up, trying to not express the pain you still felt.
"We should probably get going now, it'll be a long walk back to the monastery," you said as you gathered up the armor you had removed when you'd arrived.
🦅🦅🦅
"Thank the goddess that was a mock battle" was something you'd hear for the rest of the day. Even during dinner, you hear more of it.
"The blue lions were leagues ahead of us, they barely gave us a chance" Caspar sighed. You could tell he wasn't too satisfied with his performance.
"(Y/n) you haven't had a bite of your food yet, are you alright?" Dorathea asked you. You hadn't even realized you had just been staring at your food blankly.
"No I'm alright, I've just been thinking about today" you replied.
"Yeah… today's results have left a bitter taste in my mouth" she replied.
You ate in silence. What the others kept saying was on your mind, what if it hadn't been a mock, what if it had been an actual war? It was terrifying to imagine. All these people sitting with you would have been dead. That blow Dimitri had dealt to you could have killed you if it hadn't been a training weapon but he wouldn't do that, he cared about you deeply.
Honestly thinking about it made a knot form in your stomach. You stood up and picked up your half-eaten plate of food.
"(Y/n) are you sure you're alright?" Dorathea asked you again.
"I'm fine," you told her before leaving the table and returning your plate to the front.
You walked out of the dining hall and were on your way back to your dorm when you felt a hand on your shoulder.
"(Y/n) Is something wrong?" Dimitri's voice asked.
"Dimitri, why aren't you inside? You and your class should be celebrating" you asked him.
"I saw you leave your table after barely eating, I was worried about you" he explained.
"I'm fine, just tired," you told him. You tried to leave but he reached out and grabbed your wrist, his grip was firm, like his life depended on it.
"Tell me (Y/n), I know there's something on your mind," he said. You remained silent.
"Do you not trust me?" He asked.
"I do" you replied.
"Then tell me, I promise you it'll only be between us if you wish," he told you. You sighed before finally responding.
"I've been thinking about today… What if it hadn't been a mock battle, I know it sound stupid but the thought terrifies me" you explained.
"I think almost all of us have thought about it today, but just think what reason would we have to start a war?" He replied.
You thought long and hard on what he said. There really wasn't a reason as far as you could tell.
"The isn't" you replied.
"See, so there's no reason to worry" he told you.

anastasia au with anya ghost and dimitri soap, with the same reboot canon age difference with older ghost/younger soap, and soap being the kid with a hopeless puppy dog crush on ghost like an awkward middle schooler crushing on the high school varsity captain while ghost is only vaguely aware that soap exists, only for amnesiac ghost to bump into soap years later, who’s this tall eerily familiar muscle-bound guy with a cocky smirk and sharp intelligent eyes, and ghost’s just like AWOOGA
i mean. to be fair to soap there isn’t much a scrappy little servant boy can do to earn the affections of Royalty
(also sorry this is several days late!! my brain decided to Not Cooperate while trying to write this even though it's short)

If Johnny is only more inclined to keep this stranger around for the con for his uncanny resemblance to the lost tsarevich, then so be it. And so be it, if it’s not just because Johnny thinks he has the best chance of success at getting them (Johnny) the reward money.
And so be it, if the deep, pooling browns of his irises and the soft straw blond of his closely-cropped hair reminds Johnny of the boy he’d be enamoured with from a distance what feels like ages ago. Before everyone lost everything; when times were so much simpler; when he was nothing more than a boy with a puppy crush.
And so be it, if he decides to keep that torturous reminder around as a way of Johnny to prove to himself he’s gotten over and moved well beyond it, and onto much better things. It’s what he tells himself, at least, as he propositions the stranger and all his height and broadness and rough baritone.
It's what he tells himself as he promises this is for the stranger's family, his identity, his home and life, and not just some ploy to make Johnny rich beyond all belief.
Johnny swears it's only a coincidence when the man claims his name is also Simon, just like the lost prince. Just like the young boy left behind in time in decrepit portraits and fading memories.
/
Distantly, somewhere in the back of his mind, Simon knows he shouldn’t trust this supposedly perfect stranger.
He shouldn’t trust too-good-to-be-true offers and guarantees, shouldn’t shake hands without knowing where they’ve been—but the curl of the man’s accent around his clever words, and his bright grin and too-sharp eyes intrigue Simon. They lure him in with promises of knowledge of everything he yearns to know, to remember that has since been lost to him.
So Simon can’t help but agree to the plan he’s presented with in the hopes that he may actually become someone again, no longer destined to remain a man with no proper memory of his past or who he is. Because really, what other options does he have?
What does he have left to lose?
If he feels a vague sense of familiarity in the expression that flashes against the man's—Johnny's—face when Simon properly introduces himself, then he'll only chalk it up to his mind working in anticipation of what's to come.

@gemini-sensei I have like two things on this but please - Super Tall!Alpha!Demetri who starts to fall for his bosses daughter who just so happens to also been his assistant?
He starts working at a tech firm right out of high school while he starts college part-time. He gets a really nice job thanks to his tech work in high school and all the volunteer work you did on the side. It's going great for him, as best it can at least.
One day pit of nowhere he's called into a higher ups office to fix a computer. It's not something no out there but fixing computers isn't his daily task so he's a bit stumped. All he knows is that his own boss told him he needed to get upstairs ASAP. No one in the maintenance department was available to fix it, he was the only one done with their work for the day with the right skill to go up and fix it. He rolls his eyes before going up a few floors to find whatever computer needs to be fixed.
When he shows up he finds himself in some fancy office. He has no idea whose office he is but he doesn't try to question it. He starts working in fixing the computer.
he doesn’t know when exactly happened, but soon enough, there is a man standing in the office, and the two of them are talking. It’s a weird mix of work talk and dry jokes. after what feels like an hour Demetri finally finishes messing with the computer and has it completely fixed. The man is super appreciative of his hard work, telling him if he ever needed anything to please stop by. Demetri gives him a handshake before trying to go back to his own little office downstairs.
Before he can get too far he accidentally bumps into someone in the hallway. He right away tried to apologize to the person, trying to help steady them. When his eyes finally focus on them he gets all red.
There before him is a omega half his size staring up at him. Chubby cheeks puffed, chubby body stuffed into the cutest little professional dress with a nice jacket. He can't say much as she basically flys past him and into the office he just left.
He doesn't know what to say, he's left in shock for a moment.
The rest of the day is spent with him hunched over his computer, thinking about the cute chubby omega he bumped into.
Tumblr media
Flash forward to when he gets called into his boss's office where he is told he's getting a promotion. It turns out the computer he fixed and the guy he talked to was actually one of the CEO’s of the company. He apparently really liked Dimitri.
In the next coming weeks, he finds out the cute omega was actually the CEO's daughter.
He's doomed.😭

Spies AU - Part 6
Part 1 Part 7 AO3
17th August 2015
Steve was at war with himself, looking down at those surveillance photos that he just couldn’t seem to put away.
He kept pulling them out to stare, to examine, like a new piece of information about Eddie would make itself known each time he looked.
Every time he put them down, shut them away in his desk drawer or even dumped them in his waste paper basket it wasn’t long before they were taken back out and spread in front of him to pour over once more.
Finding out Eddie was a ‘bag guy’ but with a good heart had done absolutely nothing to quell those awful traitorous feelings in his stomach (and his dick).
Eddie was essentially a murderer for hire, even if he was only working for one guy. Though could Steve even say he was any different?
He worked for a non-governmental agency with no oversight, though he’d never got the vibe that they were secretly evil. It was something he’d kept his eye out for since he’d started. That always seemed to be the way things went in fiction.
Good Guy thinks he’s working for a Good Guy Organisation only to find out they were actually a Bad Guy Organisation, out for their own goals.
But this wasn’t fiction, this was real life and Steve trusted his higher ups. Hopper, Joyce, Dimitri, Alexei, Bob and Murray.
Okay, maybe he didn’t fully trust Murray but not because he thought the guy was a double agent or bad or anything. He just seemed a little unhinged at the best of times. And he was the most gossipy person Steve had ever met.
He kept trying to set Steve up with different guys around the Analyst's office as well, insisting Steve needed to ‘discover himself’.
Well, unbeknownst to him, Steve had ‘discovered himself’ many, many years ago and he had no desire to let Murray in on that little tidbit of information.
He knew who he was and he knew who he could trust.
He knew he could trust Robin and the kids and his bosses.
And strangely enough he knew he could trust Eddie.
He trusted Eddie even before he had found out about his loving home life, his scary but gentle friends from school and his dark hero vigilantism.
He seemed to be a good person.
And he was stupid hot, so that probably helped too.
Or didn’t help, because he was trying to do his damn job without constantly thinking of brown eyes and plump lips and deft hands that could-
Stop it.
But even so, he was finally getting back into the swing of things at work again.
But he still hadn’t told Robin.
The communicator had been muted when he’d first spoken to Eddie in that alleyway and then again at the warehouse, so she had no idea.
He didn’t love keeping her out of the loop though it wasn’t the first time he’d had to do it.
While Max hadn’t been his informant, he’d been involved in that mission and knew who she was and like most informants on the job, their identity was guarded with the utmost privacy.
Just in case.
They could never take the risk that someone in the know would be compromised or infiltrated so people in the know were kept as minimal as possible.
So no one had questioned him about his private job with Jonathan. It wasn’t standard practice but there were reasons for it.
And he was their top Agent. They had a lot of trust in him. And with that trust came a lot of freedom.
Plus he was being sent back out on missions again and it was the exciting shit this time.
It was the type of work that had convinced Steve to see his training through.
The chance to explore other countries, other cultures, meet interesting people and uproot the threads of underground corruption by means of a quick bullet to the head.
Creel had a network that stretched throughout most of the world and some of his most dangerous allies were global.
Everything had been going swimmingly. He’d managed to get into Zagreb without any cameras picking him up, without any documentation to show he was there at all.
Creel’s ‘business associate’, Mr. Horvat was overseeing the construction of a new office building, a front for their black market trade and an opportunity for some incredible money laundering and if Steve was able to take it down then he’d be able to cut off at least some of Creel’s fluidity.
It wouldn’t be a lot but it would be something.
Night was closing in and with that night the heat was starting to slowly dissipate from the air. It had been stifling during the day and Steve relished in the feeling of the wind against his skin, cooling him down from several floors up.
The building was barely a shell at this stage, open floors and concrete pillars and scaffolding, completely exposed to the elements.
He had needed to get pretty creative in order to climb to the upper floors where he could get a bird's eye view to wait for Mr. Horvat’s arrival.
Though as the hour got later and later and the last whispers of daylight disappeared over the horizon and Steve had still seen no sign of his target, he started to get antsy.
There were advantages and disadvantages to executing missions in other countries.
On the one hand there was the opportunity to see a whole new side of the world, on the other, The Agency’s ability to swoop in and save his ass lest he get himself into a mountain of shit was severely limited.
And Robin wasn't in his ear for the first time in a long time. Those were the risks when working internationally.
So he was a little nervous about the fact that their intelligence seemed to have been wrong.
Wrong enough to leave Steve alone in an empty shell of a building in the darkness with no solid exit plan if things got a little fucky.
Okay. This was fine. Everything was fine.
He’d gotten out of worse scrapes than this.
He just needed to remember to stay calm and everything would be fine.
Or at least everything would have been fine if it wasn’t for the hushed voices he heard attempting to get up to the level of the building he was on.
Little grunts and groans as they pulled themselves up the empty shafts where an elevator would eventually be put in.
Steve whipped his head around, looking for anywhere to hide but the floor was completely barren, save for the few pillars and a spindly table and set of chairs that the construction crew used to eat their lunch at.
He’d sooner be caught dead than looney-tunesing it around a pillar away from these guys so he chose the next best thing, slinking back as far into the shadows as he could get, covering his watch with his hand and tucking his gun away behind him to minimise any reflective glare that could get him caught.
Two heads popped up out of the hole in the ground, heaving themselves over the side and huffing and puffing with the effort of getting their big meaty bodies up.
If Steve hadn't heard them coming, he definitely would have been able to tell they were there now, being the opposite of quiet and subtle.
They were Creel’s men, no doubt about it but Steve had to wonder why Creel had sent two big and hulking men to this location.
Surely someone small and wiry would have found it far easier to heave themselves onto the floor using only their fingers or at the very least he could have supplied them with a fucking grappling hook or something.
It made no fucking sense.
But aside from that, there was a little bit of a panic setting into Steve’s bones now because he knew he wouldn’t be able to fight the two of them off if it came to it.
They were too big.
Either that or he would have to be very lucky to be able to overpower them. As long as they were as stupid as they were athletic, he might have a chance.
“Is he here?” The one on the far right with short cropped black hair attempted to whisper but it was offset by the heavy rise and fall of his chest as he lay on the floor trying to catch his breath.
The other one on the left lifted his head, his swooping red hair flopping over his face in a fashion Steve would almost be jealous of if he wasn’t trying to formulate an escape plan right about now.
“Can’t see him.” The redhead muttered back, pushing himself to his feet.
Steve was controlling his breathing. Right now, the only escape options for him were to either throw himself off the side of the building and plummet several stories or try to dart past the two as quickly as possible before they were able to grab him.
Even then, the fall down that empty space where that elevator would be was gonna be risky, he'd have to hope he could grab his rappelling gear in time and latch it to the hooks he'd left embedded when he was climbing up.
If he kept the element of surprise then maybe he could get out of this with all of his limbs intact.
Or he could just shoot the fuckers and be done with it.
Dropping himself slowly down low into a crouch, he reached back for where he’d stashed his gun in his holster, gripping it in his hand.
Just when he had started to ease it around in front of himself to point it in their direction he was forced to move.
They’d brought a flashlight and had shone it in Steve’s direction. To avoid being seen he had to dive to the side but that also had made more noise than he had anticipated.
They knew he was here now, so the element of surprise was gone.
They’d moved, he had a clear shot between where he was and the drop down and while the two goons were still getting their bearings, trying to find him again in the dark, he ran, sprinting for his exit, probably faster than he had run in a long time.
It was no use though.
He was brought to a vicious halt when a hand struck out and latched into his hair.
He could feel some of it being ripped out as his head was yanked back and before he knew it, his wrists had been grabbed, along with his legs when he tried to kick and twist out of their grip.
“Hold him still, hold him still!” The first guy shouted, pinning Steve's arms to his side.
He swung his leg out, trying to click the other guy away but he was stopped, his ankles getting caught up in a strong grip.
“Remind me again why we can’t just kill him?”
“We need to know what he knows!”
Steve fought with everything he had, wiggling and trying to kick and scratch and bite but these guys easily had a hundred pounds on him in muscle mass alone.
His gun slipped out of his grip, skittering across the floor and Steve could hear it clattering down the empty elevator shaft as he found himself forced into one of the chairs.
Any fight that he did have left in him was punched out of him, literally and figuratively as one of the guys drove his fist repeatedly into Steve’s stomach and the other pulled his arms behind his back with so much force there was a terrible pop that echoed out into the night sky.
Steve inhaled and held his breath as a sickening lightning shock of pain shot down his entire arm and through his shoulder. He refused to scream, he refused to cry out. He refused to acknowledge the agony he was feeling from his now limp and useless arm.
His shoulder was dislocated. That arm would be fucking useless, a hindrance more than anything.
He was so fucking fucked.
Another fist came down to crack him over the side of the head, splitting his cheek and snapping his head to the side.
His head was swimming momentarily, but he could feel his wrists being taped tightly behind his back and his ankles being strapped to the legs of the chair.
It took a second for him to latch back onto the conversation in front of him, barely able to hear it through the blood rushing in his ears but eventually he was able to make sense of the words floating around him.
“You can’t start yet!”
“Why the fuck not? I’m just as good at getting information out of people as he is!”
“He’s not here yet! We’re not even supposed to be here yet! We were supposed to wait for him and observe!”
There was a scoff. “Whatever.”
Steve’s jaw was grabbed, wrenching his head back around to face the two of them.
“Pretty boy.” The redhead spat at him. “You answer our questions or we’ll make sure you’re not so pretty anymore.”
Steve licked at the blood he could feel coating his teeth and inhaled, trying to breathe through the pain radiating up and down his shoulder.
“Weak fucking line, man.”
His jaw was squeezed tighter.
“The fuck did you just say to me?”
“I said it’s a weak fucking line. Oh boo-hoo, I won’t be pretty anymore if I don’t tell you everything, give me a fucking break.”
“Oh, I’ll break something alright.”
Before Steve could blink there was another hard blow to his stomach and a terrible pressure against his shoulder from a cruel hand pushing and pushing and pushing as he doubled over in pain, finding it hard to catch his breath and letting out an involuntary grunt of pain as he sputtered through his coughs.
He felt like was going to be sick.
Steve straightened his back, refusing to give into them, even if he did have to start breathing a little heavier.
He raised his head, swallowing down some more pain when the pressure on his shoulder increased, the black haired guy squeezing tight.
A loud clap echoed, bouncing off the walls.
“Looks like a party in here, boys.”
Eddie was standing a few feet away, clearly having just climbed up through the gap in the floor. He hands on his hips, one hip cocked to the side and his whole posture was easy and light.
But his mouth was a little thinner than usual and his eyes were piercing.
“Nice of you to finally show up.” The redhead snapped at him before wilting immediately at a single raised brow from Eddie.
He stared down the two goons, carefully avoiding looking directly at Steve. “Our schedules seem to have been misaligned.”
“An opportunity presented itself.” The black haired lackey said, his hand still on Steve’s injured shoulder.
“Oh, it did, did it?”
“We’ve been given our orders.” The redhead spat again, irritation clearly coursing through him. “Not our fault if you couldn’t execute them effectively last t-”
Eddie stepped forward, still as calm as ever while the other two immediately shrunk back, putting Steve between themselves and Eddie.
Eddie didn’t come to a stop until he was right in front of Steve, bending at the waist to get a good look at him, putting their faces on level with each other, almost nose to nose.
Steve had the urge to jump forward and bite, both to try and snap his cool demeanour and because he just wanted to, but he held it at bay.
He also had an intense urge to bitch back at him, to fall back into the role he’d adopted the last time they were in this situation and while Steve could be a bit impulsive at times he also knew when to keep his mouth shut and he should definitely keep his mouth shut right about now.
Eddie’s eyes, sharp and flinty raked over Steve’s face taking in the redness and swelling over his split cheek, the redness that had spittled out of his mouth and over his teeth as well as what was probably a bloodshot eye.
Then his eyes flicked up to the hand that was still clamped tight around Steve’s dislocated shoulder, waving it away as he straightened up and started to circle him.
“Popping a joint out of the socket is pretty bold for an opening move, don’t you think?” Everything about Eddie was relaxed and calm, like he was wading slowly through some cool and refreshing water, but the tension in the air was fucking palpable.
The two goons were fucking terrified of him, even though they tried to act unaffected, pulling on their masculinity and puffing out their chests.
“It was necessary.”
Eddie hummed. “I’m sure it was. And the punches?” He asked, coming to a stop in front of Steve again.
“He was being snarky.” The redhead answered, with just a hint of smugness in his tone.
Eddie smiled, bright, wide and cold.
“I do love it when they’re snarky.” He raised a finger, gesturing the two of them over. “Walk with me.”
He led them away, far enough that Steve couldn't hear what was being said but he'd bet anything that Eddie was acting as calm as ever though his posture said differently.
He'd squared his shoulders and had one leg planted behind him.
Steve could just see the two lackeys recoil at something he said, the redhead taking as step back, the heel of his boot just grazing the hole in the floor when Steve heard Eddie growl something's that distinctly sounded like 'mine' before swinging his leg out and kicking the redhead square in the chest sending him sailing through the gap.
Before the other guy could react beyond a startled shout, Eddie pulled a gun from a pouch strapped to his leg and shot him through the forehead.
His body thumped to the floor followed by a deafening, ringing silence.
Steve stared wide eyed as Eddie glanced over the hole in the floor, and watched as terrible echoing, gurgling, throaty noises rose several stories up towards them before slowly going quiet.
Steve blinked.
“What the fuck?”
Eddie didn’t look across at him as he put the safety back on.
“What the hell did you just do, weren’t they your people?” Steve asked, completely bewildered and more than a little turned on.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Eddie said, walking back over to him. “They were dead when I arrived.”
He placed the gun down in Steve’s lap and he saw with a start that it was his own gun. The one he had lost his grip on in the tussle. Eddie had shot his own people with Steve’s gun.
It would look like Steve was the one who had pulled the trigger.
Eddie moved to stand behind him and gently laid one hand over his dislocated arm and the other on his shoulder.
“You ready?”
Steve took a deep breath in and held it for a moment before slowly letting it out.
“Yeah.” He nodded. “Just get it over with.”
He could feel Eddie tighten his fingers momentarily in a soft show of comfort.
“And to answer your question, sweetheart-” Eddie muttered, lips grazing his ear before suddenly wrenching his arm up, popping it back in.
Steve bit down on his tongue so hard he tasted blood, but was able to keep relatively silent, apart from a small groan of pain.
He almost didn’t hear what Eddie said next.
“-I don’t have any people. Not here.”
Steve couldn’t answer, still trying to swallow down the agony and resting his head back with his eyes closed, while Eddie fumbled around behind him, cutting the tape from his wrists.
Eventually the pain was no longer a sharp stab, but a steady throb and Steve was able to find his voice again.
“Baby, what are you doing?”
Eddie didn’t answer for a moment, slowly moving Steve’s injured arm until it was resting in his lap alongside his still loaded gun like it was nothing.
Once his legs were also unbound Eddie stepped back and shrugged.
“I can’t do anything with you right now, I like to start when my victims are fresh. Prefer a blank slate, you know?”
Steve used the hand on his good side to raise the wrist of the bad arm against his chest, keeping it elevated.
Eddie tensed up momentarily as his hand moved over the gun still sitting innocently in his lap but relaxed once it was clear Steve wasn’t reaching for it.
“Didn’t seem to matter last time.”
Eddie gave a little scoff. “Well I didn’t do anything to you last time did I?”
Oh, you did plenty.
It was only then that Steve registered exactly what he was looking at.
Eddie was standing in front of him with his hair piled high on his head and in the tightest clothes Steve had ever seen on a person.
“Are you wearing spandex?”
He couldn’t even pretend to be laughing at him, he was too busy staring salaciously at everything the skin tight black fabric left on display, the stretch across his bony hips, the way it hugged his delicate waist, the prominent bulge in the front that Steve only allowed himself a half a second to glance at.
The spandex spread out across his whole body, all the way down to the thick boots he was wearing, leaving nothing uncovered apart from his neck, face and hair, a few little wispy bits falling down and lightly brushing his skin. Even his gorgeous hands were hidden away, though Steve still wouldn’t say no to them grabbing at him.
“Why?” Eddie asked grinning, holding his arms out, turning and ah, there it was. That flat tiny little ass.
Steve still loved it though.
It made Eddie feel human.
It made him feel less like some kind of sex demon sent specifically to haunt Steve’s dreams.
"Enjoying the view?"
Steve raised an eyebrow, taking his gun lightly in hand and standing from his chair, albeit a little shaky and refusing to answer the question posed to him, even if that answer was a resounding yes.
"You look like Catwoman."
Eddie was his enemy, he had to remember that. He should probably kill him, right? He should probably kill him and stop scraping his eyes up and down Eddie’s body like he was about to pounce.
He should probably kill him and be done with the headache of an enemy he desperately wanted to fuck senseless, even as injured as he was.
The look Eddie was giving him told Steve that he knew exactly what was going on in his head. He could tell that Steve was thinking of tearing those spandex off with his teeth.
“I take that as a compliment.”
Steve couldn’t help the smile that broke out over his face, lightening the mood between them when Eddie reciprocated, just the tiniest pink tint to his cheeks, giving a little shrug.
“It’s comfy and easy to move in, easy to hide in, so y’know.”
Steve was about to open his mouth and ask if he could see what was hidden underneath but thankfully stopped in time. Instead he gripped his gun in his hand and as he raised it to slip it back into his holster he saw Eddie’s eyes flick down just for a moment before he understood.
But Steve latched onto it regardless.
“Scared of me?” He asked, teasing.
Eddie snorted. “Nope.”
“Oh really? You should be.”
“Sure thing, sweetheart.” He said with slowly darkening eyes. “You forget, you’re one of the ‘good guys’. You’ve got rules.”
Steve’s eyebrows flew up. “Who told you that?”
Eddie stepped forward until they were within arms reach. “Your whole Agency told me that. Everyone knows the good guys always lose because,” he ran a gloved finger down Steve’s chest. “You've got so many rules.”
“Rules are for those who don’t know how to stop.” He grabbed Eddie’s wrist with his good hand. “Unfortunately for you,” he pulled his wrist away from his own chest and Eddie’s eyes got even darker if that was possible, “I know exactly how to stay in control.”
They were drifting in so close now, almost nose to nose and Steve could smell him, woody and leathery and delicious.
He could kiss him, he could. Would it really be so bad to kiss the enemy? And Eddie was just standing there, waiting, waiting for it to happen, his deep, dark eyes boring into him.
But the moment was broken by a car horn screaming out somewhere below through the traffic.
Steve and Eddie practically jumped away from each other as though caught, staring at each other for a few seconds in complete silence.
Eventually Eddie reached out for a piece of his own hair but stumbled for a moment when he remembered it was tied up, choosing instead to brush a curl behind his ear and Steve was fucking jealous.
“You should probably go.” He said. “Tell your Agency the job was a bust and that you took down two goons or whatever.”
“And you’re gonna stay?”
“Yeah.” Eddie sighed. “I got two bodies to report.” He gestured at the ground behind him and the hole a little further back.
“Right.”
Steve looked at him, thinking come with me, don’t go back to them, come with me, I’ll keep you safe, I can be your people, before he was able to shake himself out of it.
It was a ridiculous thought, he couldn’t…
He couldn’t.
With a nod of his head, Steve left, using his good arm to rig up his rappel gear and lowering himself down through the gap in the floor.
Eddie watched him do it from a distance, almost like he was scared that if he reached out he’d never let go and Steve could honestly say he felt the same.
He stepped carefully around the body of the redhead, a slowly drying pool of blood and brains spread out around his head.
He got back to the hotel he was staying at that night, asking at the front desk for room service to be delivered, ordering ‘the works’.
He had only been in his room for a few minutes before there was a knock on the door and Steve let in an older man with a trolley covered in a white sheet with a cloche over a plate.
Once the door was closed behind them, the cloche and sheet were removed to reveal a fully stocked medical trolley.
He got his shoulder checked over and set into a sling along with an ice pack for his face and strict instructions to monitor any change to his digestion from the punches to the gut or a numb sensation in his arm in case anything had been pinched.
After that, he was alone again, telling himself to stop thinking about it.
He wouldn’t. He refused. He refused to think about it. Full stop. Not thinking about it.
He didn’t think about how Eddie had catalogued his injuries. He didn’t think about how he had killed for him, like it was nothing. He didn’t think about mine.
He didn’t think about everything that the stupid spandex highlighted and hid, leaving just enough up to the imagination.
How many more tattoos were underneath. Did he have a lot of body hair or was there only a sparse dusting of dark curls over his chest and trailing down under his belly button? Did he have any scars like Steve did? Were there any piercings?
Until he was alone in bed that night stripping his dick raw, hot and flushed and with his own cum spilling out over his fingers.
And then again in the morning.

[Setleth 5+1] There's Something Here, I Can Feel It
SUMMARY: This is the result of my idea I came up with awhile ago, which was thus: "THE FIVE TIMES CLAUDE, DIMITRI, AND EDELGARD NOTICED SETETH AND BYLETH HAVE A THING FOR EACH OTHER, AND THE ONE TIME THEY (FINALLY) NOTICED IT THEMSELVES."
Hope you all enjoy! Do please reblog to get the story out and if you feel up to it, I'd love to hear what you think! Can be in reblog or reply or even an ask if you'd rather!
I. Claude
"And so that's why I think this is…"
The best course of action, he finished silently in his head. He waved the words aside internally, as if his mind's inner voice was someone else entirely.
None of that mattered. Something big was going down, right before his eyes.
The slight pink dusting Seteth's cheeks said everything the silent man wasn't saying.
How had he not noticed before? As much as the advisor to the Archbishop wanted to believe he was the master of impassivity, Seteth was anything but. He wore his heart on his sleeves and it was clear with just a glance at the man what kind of mood he was in.
His mood right now was less emotional though and more of a state of mind.
It was sweet, really. Honest to goodness. Claude never lied when it came to the sweetness of a situation.
It seemed the academy's headmaster had a bit of a crush on the Professor.
What made the whole thing even better was that Claude was ninety-seven percent sure his Teach was kinda into Seteth too.
Now, wasn't that just cherry on top?
II. Edelgard
It was a worthy idea. It hadn't ever crossed her mind to consider combining two houses in a particular class. Now that it had been laid out before her by the Archbishop's advisor, however, it was a little embarrassing that it hadn't.
Seteth was a little pink in the face too, which made it seem as if he too was feeling the disappointment at failing to come to this conclusion earlier. That's what she thought, at first.
Something caught her eye though. The slightest turn upward at the corners of his mouth. The softening of the creases at the corners of his eyes and across his forehead. The spark of light in eyes that were normally quite dull, truth be told.
A certain sneaky degenerate of an alliance leader whispered in her ear even now, reminding her of a conversation with Claude that she had long since dismissed.
In her defense, it had seemed laughable. An impossibility. Their teacher hardly spoke, much less showed any emotion.
But perhaps there was some merit to the idea. Certainly there was something, at least on Seteth's side of things.
But their teacher felt the same? Was it possible?
And would she, Edelgard, be okay with it if it was?
III. Dimitri
The crown prince of Faerghus had actually witnessed two such exchanges between the two prior to Claude and Edelgard's experiences. He just hadn't realized that the exchange had been something shocking or surprising. Were they not like that with other people? He'd never really paid enough attention to their general dispositions around everyone else.
He told his stories now to a fully rapt future leader of the Leicester Alliance and future ruler to the Adrestian Empire. In fact, the blond prince was quite certain that he'd never been able to hold their attention like he was right then.
"Wait! He pulled a leaf from her hair?"
Edelgard looked a little too offended on Byleth's behalf. If anything… she seemed almost… no, that couldn't be it. Could it?
Claude, on the other hand, looked as if gift-giving season had just come early.
"Obviously, there is an opportunity here. Now, I may not have your royal dispositions, majesties, and I make up for that with my charm and wits and good nature. But I consider us equals, the three of us. And if ever there was a situation made for the very purpose of us teaming up, this is it, guys!"
Edelgard knew immediately what he was getting at. Dimitri could see the anger, annoyance, and definite jealousy in those light purple eyes. But a second later, followed by a deep breath in and out, the Adrestian princess joined Claude's cause.
"If this is what will ensure our teacher's happiness, then it is our duty to help them along!"
Dimitri, frowned. "I don't know… it doesn't feel right, meddling in the affairs of the heart. Surely, if it is meant to be, it'll happen without our input."
The other two glanced at each other before shaking their heads.
"What?"
"That's a nice thought. A knightly thought but… people will rarely do what's best for them on their own."
"Well said, princess."
Dimitri wasn't sold but he supposed he could see their point at the very least.
Determination set along his brow.
"Tell me what you need me to do."
IV. Claude, Edelgard, & Dimitri
Dimitri frowned and Claude was worried the prince was about to call the whole thing off.
"Are you sure this, er, topic will be enough to distract the professor?"
"Oh definitely. Teach seems adamant about helping others out, no matter what. She'll definitely want to assist you and it'll kill her that she can't offer any advice. That's gonna distract her more than anything!"
Dimitri looked scandalized. "I don't want to cause the professor any undue harm."
Claude held up a hand.
"No harm. An annoyance at the very most, I promise."
He ignored the pointed look he got from the princess and instead rest his hand on Dimitri's shoulder.
"You're the only one she will believe. So… maybe think about your own crush while you're pretending to ask for advice…"
Dimitri nodded, his face understanding. A few seconds passed before his gaze widened and he quickly crossed the room to the door.
"N-no time like the present, like you always say, Claude. I'll be off now."
Claude blinked, staring at the spot where the prince had been seconds prior.
Slowly, a grin slipped onto his face.
"So Dimitri does have a crush!"
He spun around to seek out Edelgard.
"Don't ask me. Why would he tell me?"
Claude sighed.
"Yet you still seem to have some idea, don't you, princess?"
Edelgard shrugged but allowed herself to give the smallest near imperceptible nod of her head.
"Let us just say that I haven't a clue what he sees in this particular person."
Claude narrowed his eyes, trying to gauge whether or not she was messing with him. He couldn't sense any ulterior motive and she seemed to be teasing rather than hurtful.
"You said person, an interesting choice of words when it's generally presumed that his princliness is straight."
Edelgard rolled her eyes but said nothing else. She couldn't allow herself to give away clues accidentally.
"So either it was a simple word choice that had no significance or this "person" isn't a girl. Wouldn't that be interesting?"
Glancing her way, Claude raised a brow at the surprise on her face. She masked it a few seconds later but too little, too late. "Oh." A smile slowly slipped onto his lips though he tried to smooth it away. "So it's like that, is it?"
Edelgard scoffed and shook her head before storming off. Claude got the distinct impression she was annoyed because he was totally right about Dimitri. A good thing too, considering the whole crush he was harboring on the guy.
V. Golden Deer
"Alright! So that's the plan! Any questions?"
Claude watched his pink haired retainer cross her arms with a frown.
"Let me get this straight. You want to talk loudly outside Seteth's office, playing up that Dimitri is professing his love to our professor, knowing it's pretty much likely that Dimitri is gay?"
Claude nodded, smirking at the ingeniousness of the plan.
"Uh huh. And you don't see how this plan can go completely wrong?"
Claude gave a pause at that. She had a point, after all. But he ultimately couldn't see how the plan could fail.
"Alright. And what if our dear professor actually gives Dimitri some good advice and he decides to go after the guy of his dreams? Are you going to be okay with that?"
Claude blinked and then frowned. "Teach doesn't know about romance. There's no way…wait, are you saying you know the guy that Dimitri likes?"
Hilda giggled and took a deep breath. "My how the tables have turned. Claude, I'm pretty sure everyone knows who Dimitri likes except the person Dimitri likes."
She walked off and Claude was about to call after her when the true meaning behind her words hit him. Marianne and Raphael had just passed him when he reached out to stop them.
"Who does Dimitri have romantic feelings for?"
Marianne blushed and looked away, mumbling something about it not being her place to say but surprised he didn't already know. Raphael, on the other hand, had no qualms informing him.
"Ah! I guess it would be hard to know who a person likes when the person is you, so yeah. I can tell ya. Dimitri is like, seriously in love with you, dude! How cool is that?"
Claude felt his jaw drop as so many uncertainties and impossibilities finally clicked neatly into place.
"Oh. Uh, thanks for that, Raf. You've given me a lot to think about, that's for sure."
"Haha. Any time!"
Claude watched as the two carried on, suddenly working through the two issues now on hand.
 +1. Setleth
"I don't know, Hilda. Dimitri was really adamant about wanting to talk to Teach alone. He asked to meet her in the courtyard after class. And Teach is really pretty. You'd be a fool not to see it. So it totally checks that she's pretty popular with the guys around here. I heard she gets one confession a week. Minimum."
Seteth took a deep breath and brought his fingers up to rub at his temples.
What scheme are you cooking up now, Claude? Whatever you're doing, I'm not taking the bait. You'll have to try harder than that.
"Even if Dimitri does like men, it would make sense strategically. Our dear professor would make a great queen."
Seteth gave pause at that.
It was true that most people with eyes could see how hopelessly in love the prince of Faerghus was with Duke Riegan's grandson. But it was just as likely that Dimitri would be more concerned with a union that would benefit his people. Byleth—the professor—would be a very smart choice.
Still, even knowing and understanding the reason behind it, just the thought of Byleth marrying someone for any reason but love did not sit well with Seteth.
Which made sense, considering he had come to realize his love for her quite some time ago. He'd never presumed to consider the chance that she might like him in return, but none of that mattered.
As long as she was happy, that was all Seteth desired. Well, it was all he'd allow himself, in any case.
Deciding that it couldn't hurt to at least check out the situation, Seteth left the office, locking it up on the off chance this was a ploy designed to leave his office unattended.
He made his way to the location Claude and Hilda had mentioned. Sure enough, the courtyard scene played out just as Claude had stated. A rush of jealousy surged inside him and he was about to walk away when a pair of emerald green eyes met his and the resultant smile shot an arrow straight through his heart.
His will was no longer his own as his feet carried him across the distance between himself and the professor.
"Seteth," the blond prince said, lips twitching slightly. Seteth's first thought was that it was likely nerves but as the events of the last half hour replayed in his head, he came to the conclusion that Dimitri was likely in cahoots with a certain scheming student.
Ah. So that's what this is.
He couldn't help the little chuckle that escaped him as he watched Dimitri leave. He pointedly ignored the question in Byleth's eyes, only looking at her when he was positive he had his emotions in check.
"What was that about?" He asked, trying to sound offhanded. Byleth smiled lightly, glancing in the direction the blond prince had gone.
"He was asking for advice."
"Ah. Well that's nothing new for you."
"About romance."
Seteth felt his body stiffen but he forced himself to sound as unaffected as possible.
"What did you tell him?"
"The truth." She smiled at him now and he found he was suddenly held captive by her gaze. "That I don't have the experience in that area to give sound advice but it was probably a good idea to get such important feelings off one's chest. And who better to confide such feelings in than with the person the feelings are for."
Seteth smiled warmly down at her.
She truly was a marvel.
"You say you have no experience but that sounds like wonderful advice from where I'm standing."
It was too. Perhaps the very advice he should take for his own situation.
"I love you, Seteth."
Seteth nodded along before the three words plus his name fully sunk in.
Light green eyes wide, Seteth stared at the young woman for a long time before clearing his throat.
"I see… well, if that is truly the heart of the matter then it only stands to reason that I too confess."
He closed the distance between them and reached out, cupping her cheek with one hand.
"I find myself quite in love with you, Professor… Byleth." He smiled warmly. "I love you, Byleth."
He barely had a chance to register what was happening as Byleth wrapped her arms around his neck, kissing him deeply. Pushing any other thought from his mind, with a quick reminder to thank Claude later, Seteth kissed her back.

prompt for childhood enemies dimileth!!!
When Byleth was 6 years old, and Jeralt left her in the care of an inkeeper while he was doing merc jobs, a traveling caravan of rich people arrived to the inn, and she heard an ugly rich bowlcut blonde baby say his dad was the strongest and could beat anybody's dad and she choose violence.
Someone had to put the bowlcut in his place and make him understand Jeralt was the strongest.
Dimitri didn't want to fight back for his crest until Byleth called him a wussy... which is a word the mercs used around her and she didn't know what it meant.
(she fondly recalls this story as the first time she won a fight)
(dimitri still has bite scars from the incident and was very scared of girls for a long time)
(gustave was worried sick a commoner kid got the crown prince rabbies)
(they haven't connected the dots)
(This is the same anon who hates Dimitri's hair)
(hello dear dimitri's hair hater anon, i loved this prompt a lot! i changed some little points in the narration, but the main plotis the one you wrote. i really hope you'll like this :3)
wordcount: 1.2k
Byleth was extremely bored. Jeralt— no, he said to call him dad— Dad went to do some cool mercenary stuff he said were 'too dangerous' for Byleth to attend. How silly! She was perfectly capable of taking care of enemies. She had the best teacher in the world, after all; the Blade Breaker’s abilities were well known along all Fodlan.
Of course, she was still only six, while her father was… How many years old was Jeralt again? She realised she didn’t know exactly. Probably the same age all dads were. Like three-hundred years old or something like that.
Byleth frowned. Did she need to wait three-hundred years to become as powerful as Jeralt? No, it was too far away from now! The little girl stood up. She needed to go training now.
She went out the little inn where Jeralt— Dad left her some days ago, heading for that nice spot she found out the day before to train with her new super powerful sword. (Well, wood sword. After the last time Byleth tried to train by herself, she almost chopped her own leg, so Jeralt took precautions by giving her a weapon that 'woudn’t hurt his precious little girl'. How melodramatic! But he chose it precisely for her. It was special. She wasn’t gonna break it!)
Her wandering gaze stopped when she noticed some people a few meters from her. She frowned. A tall guy with dark hair and a younger blonde boy with an ugly bowlcut were talking under a tree, the very tree of her perfect nice training spot.
She frowned again. As people said, Byleth wasn’t… the best at social interactions. She didn’t like talking to people, especially strangers. And she hated when she had to. Like this moment. She needed those two to get out of her new special training spot. She needed to train! To become more powerful! Like, right now!
The urge to train was bigger than her despise for talking to strangers, so she got closer to the tree, holding hard her sword. Byleth repeated in her mind Jeralt— Dad’s lessons about how ‘not to be too scary with other people’. She had to act nice.
“Hi. Get out of my training spot”.
A greeting! Super nice. ‘Good job, me’, she thought, pleased with herself.
The taller boy looked at her with surprise, but his expression quickly changed in a smile. “Hello, you fellow warrior”, he said in a condescending tone, winking.
Ugh. That was one of the thing Byleth hated the most: grown-ups treating her like she was just a little child!
“Get out, I said! I need to train”, she said, pointing at her sword.
Bowlcut boy frowned. “But you’re too young to train by your own!”
“What?!” Byleth exclaimed to him, annoyed.
“Yes! My dad says children shouldn’t fight until they grow up. And you look almost my age! So, you can’t train”, Bowlcut boy explained, nodding.
Byleth crossed her arms. “It doesn’t make sense! My dad helps me train since I was… younger than you!”
Bowlcut boy looked troubled. “Why does you dad train you?”
“Because I want to become strong, and he’s the strongest mercenary of all Fodlan!”, Byleth said with a hint of pride.
Now Bowlcut boy looked annoyed. “That’s not true! My dad is the strongest one! Glenn, tell her!” he added, looking at the taller annoying guy.
Tall-annoying guy was watching at them holding a hand over his mouth as if he wanted to hide it, slightly shaking. Then he proceeded to burst into laughter, hitting the ground with his fist, without saying a thing.
Byleth frowned. What a weird guy.
Bowlcut boy frowned too, but apparently he decided to let the matter drop, as he looked at Byleth again. “My dad is stronger! He has big muscles, and he’s the only one that can use a super uper big powerful spear!” Then he looked down at Tall-annoying guy, who was still on the floor. “Glenn! Tell her!”
The guy tried to stop laughing, but miserably failed. “So… sorry, Dimitri… you’ll have to… deal with her yourself… PUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!”
Byleth crossed her arms; then, she got an idea. “Let’s settle this with a fight. However wins, has the strongest dad!”
Bowlcut boy’s eyes widened. “N… no! I can’t! I’ll hurt you!”
Byleth was really annoyed now: how dared that little brat imply he could beat her?!
She lifted her sword, pointing at Bowlcut boy. “Prepare yourself!”
“Oh, fuck!” Tall-annoying guy stopped laughing and stood up between them. “Ok, party’s over. Let’s try to get along, shall we?”
Bowlcut boy sighed in relief. Byleth sticked her tongue out, looking at him. “Your dad’s just a… wussy!”
Byleth really liked the word ‘wussy’. The way it sounded was funny. She didn’t exactly know the meaning, but Jeralt’s mercenaries often used it when someone was arguing (usually when drinking that weird ‘grown-ups fruit juice’) with some other of the band, getting the latter very angry. And Byleth wanted to make Bowlcut boy angry.
And she succeded! Bowlcut boy’s eyes widened, and he proceeded to run towards her. Byleth was ready, and promptly dodged the boy. She grabbed his arm, and sinked her teeth in it.
The boy screamed in pain until Tall-annoying boy managed to pull him away. “Shit shit shit! What the hell is wrong with you two?!” he said in a high-pitched tone. Bowlcut boy started crying.
‘Pathetic’, Byleth thought.
“Okay, little girl, we’re leaving, but promise me you’ll stay away from Dimitri!” Tall-annoying guy said, while taking Bowlcut boy in his arms. “We’re leaving soon anyway, so forget about this and do not tell anyone!” he added, going inside the inn, without waiting for Byleth to respond. “Shit! I did tell Gustave I’m not a good babysitter…” she heard him muttering, while Bowlcut boy was still crying.
She looked at the now closed door for a few seconds more, then turned around. “Okay. Melee training for day: done. I should practice with my sword now…”
“You did what?!” Jeralt—Dad screamed in shock.
Byleth crossed her arms. “I bit him, I told you! He was saying some crap about you!”
Dad looked at her in disbelief, and then bursted into laughter.
‘Why is everyone laughing at me today?!’
“You… you bit him… you bit the… freaking… AHAHAHAHAHA!” Dad was laughing so hard he didn’t finish the phrase.
Byleth shrugged, deciding to let him be. ‘It’s not like I’m gonna ever see Bowlcut boy again…’
15 years later
Byleth didn’t know if she was getting better at reading people, or if Jeralt was acting strange more than usual. Since she told him she chose to lead the Blue Lion House, her father started to make a soft giggle everytime she mentioned the house-leader, Dimitri. It was getting annoying.
“Are you going to tell me why do you make that sound everytime I mention Dimitri, dad?!” she finally said one afternoon, while her and Jeralt were having tea in her room.
Jeralt smiled. “Ah! Never. But maybe, you’ll have your answer if you’ll ever see his arm… Summer is starting, after all…”
