#crossover made me sad so i decided to just post this already

Note
not to plug for my own au or anything (bc it literally hasn't been posted yet lol) but like... as a mainly 2012 fan, seeing all of this with the knowledge of what happened to Yoshi and Saki in that timeline is. damn. okay yeah 12 Splinter could've been So Much Worse. by no means is he a good dad but at least he's trying to do right by his kids rather than emulating 1-to-1 what Yuuta did to him and his brother. still makes me so sad that he died before he could successfully unpack all that trauma so he just kinda said "well shit I don't have time so I better make one of them even more emotionally fucked up to protect the others For The Greater Good" and in that sense followed in Yuuta's footsteps at the very last moment. really pulled a Saki there :/
so! on that note! it made me curious, what with all the crossover stuff going on, what would happen if someone tried to kill your Splinter. idk if anyone else wants the glory so I'm just gonna say that my Splints did it because he regrets chickening out when Saki nearly died to Yuuta back in the day yada yada plot stuff. needless to say he would fail miserably, there's a reason he's in hiding these days. so how would Splinter react? like, if he survives, but it was close and there is a credible and very aggressive threat to his personal safety (which he can defeat pretty easily but it's still inconvenient and frightening), but for Multiverse Reasons he can't just pick up the kids and leave.
the other important question is... how would the kids react? especially Mikey. something has just shown that their dad is not invincible, but he is still a problem. how would he respond to that?
haven't watched a lot of 2012 but i am eternally amused that he was like, kind of a shit dad and then just DIED about it haha fsdfdsf.
anywho, to get into your question-
Splinter is already pretty paranoid, he wont step foot in the hidden city for fear that Big Mama's goons will get him even all these years later. if someone tried to kill him and knew where he lived he'd grab his boys and SKEDADDLE. and if they DIDNT know where he lived he'd force donnie to up the security on their lair by like 1000%.
as for mikey, I think it's different to wish your dad would die and actually see someone try to do it. even though Mikey wouldn't be SUPER broken up if Splinter died, he'd still be traumatized, and he knows it would hurt his brothers a lot if they lost Splinter. he's also not prone to trusting adults, especially those who just (seemingly) randomly attacked his caretaker.
Donnie would be panicked about it and feel unsafe until they figured out who tried to kill splinter and why.
Leo would be fuckin furious and decide to be Splinters personal body guard for the foreseeable future.
Raph is always tired and would continue to be tired and irritated. he probably wouldn't change much, except that now he's extra high strung cause what if the guy who tried to kill splinter comes back for the rest of them?? and if splinter dies, where will they go?? will Draxum take them in? stressful.

@viharistenno answering your comment on this ask here because apparently there’s a text limit to replies and I wrote too much!
SIOC stands for self-insert original character. As in, you end up in the world (in this case twilight), either stuck in the body of the main character or as yourself… and I’ve seen too many twilight memes around and ended up reading fic again and I think being stuck in the twilight world would be an unholy mix of hilarious, fucked up, cool, deeply sad (bc it’d also mean being forever away from everyone and everything I’ve known here - sth lots of SIOC fic tend to ignore but I think it’d be interesting to explore) and also I can’t decide whether, if I ended up in the twilight world forrealsies, I’d try to meet vampires and get vampireimmortalized immediately or try to stay the Fuck away from them and their idiotic conflicts and problems. Also do I want to be a TwiPire? I mean I definitely don’t want to be a classic vampire but twilight vampires are also all levels of fucked up and canon doesn’t really make it clear How many levels of fucked up and I guess if I was a twilight SIOC I’d not know that either until it was too late… anyway, interesting thought experiment :D but I probably won’t write any of it into an actual fic
Ohhh you also like Milippa? I didn’t know! You’re not in the discord are you? I think I’ve only seen you in the B&W one before but maybe this is my bad memory at it again o.o
Anyway yeah I’m writing the dream sci-fi dystopia as Milippa but more just because out of the ships I ship, they fit the characters I dreamt up best? I mean in my dream I saw Rosamund Pike and Jean Smart take that as you will lmao, but I’m changing stuff to turn it into a proper Milippa fanfic anyway. Probably mostly prime/mirror Milippa vibes, but some mirror Michael ish backstory and Philippa character wise bit of both? They’re both AU anyway so who cares, but idk how to character- tag it on Ao3 yet xD haven’t gotten around to write more to it yet anyway bc I was busy writing 2k for one of the Bering and wells advents ficlets yet, and it isn’t even finished yet!
Dreams definitely can do weird stuff! Yesterday I dreamt I was in a forest and poisoned chocolate grew on trees or something xD but usually it’s just weird shit like that, not whole damn storylines!
Yeassss same! It’s so great that it’s coming together so nicely, I can’t believe we have writers through to day 10 without any gap days, we might actually manage to have a full advent calendars without skipping over some days! When I made the first post only two days before December started I expected to get sign up for maybe half the days max!
Re:target audience for weird fanfic ideas, Yeah that’s also true :D but I already told myself the story didn’t I? I don’t need to write it down for that! I mean, most of the fic I write is still very very self indulgent, but it’s really more that all the stories I tell myself are for me, and out of those self indulgent story ideas I write down the ones I want to share with the world and think I might have a nice audience for! Stories that would need 50k backstory on how the Fuck I ended up with this crossover AU headcanon bullshittery don’t really make the list xD

Where have I been?
Hi, Victoria here! ^^
Sorry for not posting or tell anyone of my progress after the news of Technoblade’s passing that also not only made me sad but it also made me toke a two week break from writing. Right now I am back in writing but at the small slow pace as I am trying to world build my story well without rushing it to make it ugly
So far I am definitely gonna think new ways to improve Prologue 3 which is not yet made as I haven't like decided how to start it so I apologize but I will work it on august hopefully however Im sure those who knows what is happening with Genshin.
We got leaks of what Sumeru is like (Rip Primos and wallets to everyone) and Im very excited as everyone who read my main Sagau or Sagau crossover of DSMP/SBI reader Sumeru and Snezahaya are the only ones who are not involved of the Imposter chase which i will try my best to explain why only those two nations did not hunt us down while rest such as Natlan and Fontaine hunted us down when one of them are supposedly could help us but I won't spoil why as I am waiting for Natlan and Fontaine to come so that I can work my way on them without making the characters in those nations look OOC when they are not out yet TwT
And of course the famous teaser that is about the Harbingers reaction to Signora’s death to which I did not expect it revealed all Harbingers and damn I wonder how the main SAGAU writers will write about them especially Regrator who caught my interest with Arlecchino UwU
But uh back in the Topic 😂
So like currently I am suffering a huge skin allergies which is a pain in the neck and I have no idea when it will be gone which is quite sad and annoying as the itchyness is hard to control sometimes TwT But don't worry I am doing okay XD
Although a bit oof a news.
The technolade tribute will have a bit changes as i decided to make it around the imposter au of Sagau but this will be more of Reader and Techno centric so basically more onto the Dream SMP so for those who dont know Dream SMP or never watch but came here for the SAGAU you can read it or not read it since I only made my story just for fun and so far I already have massive ideas for the "Leave me Alone and Let me build my s**t" such as I now decided that there will be like changes since i just edit this today and this draft was like last week XD
And what changes is that Prologue one will have addition of a Torture scene that a friend wanted me to add and I thought it would fit considering I decided to go around my Prologues and Interlude to add the Dark themes since things will go dark and very much have high tension once we get to the main plot of how the story began or rather how Reader felt being chased along with being labeled as an imposter when she is not.
So around August there will be a short (or not short due to my brainstorming and OCD build up whoops 😂😂) Prologue 3.5 or which uh basically is before the actually Prologue 3. What i mean is that 3.5 will mostly be a calm before the storm which will be another short point of view of the characters before Doomsday and I know everyone is not happy when they are waiting for the Doomsday to happen and Ill be honest I myself always is not happy but I have to do it so I can break expectations and also 3.5 will have a Harbingers and you guys will have to figure out who the traitor that spoke to Dainsleif because its gonna be a plot twist when you realize it was not them but another character who I always used my support XD
I wont spoil much but I can say hopefully Prologue 3 Doomsday will be moved on September since I do full chapters once a month due to being busy irl and school. I hope you guys understand especially its not easy to make a huge build up plot with worldbuilding and trying to make the characters in character without making them go OOC.
But yes this month I will do my best to finish the Technoblade tribute with reader and I can say there will be angst, comfort and a bit of a hint of the future chapters of my main story OwO! Despite i am supposed to rest with Allergies I need to make sure you guys will get enough SAGAU x DSMP/SBI reader XD
So I hope you guys understand and Inbox is open for questions which I will answer in my own pace as I am trying to get these allergies healed TwT
So yeah that's all! ^^

Thank you for this ask, but sorry in advance. In retrospect, I don't even know why I reblogged this ask meme because the only fics I have been able to think about are Kamen Rider fics and almost none of the people following me have seen any Kamen Rider
(prompt: Put “📓” or some other version of a book emoji into my inbox and I’ll explain the plot of a fanfiction that I haven’t written but daydream about.)
Anyway since you sent so many books, I'll talk about two ideas:
FMA post canon
Look, Greed's death made me very sad and he will be alive in all the fics I write because that's what he deserves.
That said, I think it would be very fun/horrible to write something from Ling's pov after Greed dies, specifically maybe something in the set up of "five times someone thought he was Greed and one time they didn't"
I haven't planned out specific scenes but here's what I think a few of them would be
-Darius and Heinkel who have only really known Greed and weren't around to watch the final showdown (I think? If they were around in canon, they aren't in this au) and are like "hey boss good to see you made it out of this mess" and Ling has to be like "....he didn't make it out"
-Ling has talked to Ed a couple times in the aftermath of the battle but one time he comes up from behind him or something and for a split second Ed is like "ugh Greed stop bothering me" and then they both realize
-idk about this one but I feel like at some point on him+Lan Fan+Mei's journey back to Xing, they run into some sort of situation where Ling thinks it would be beneficial to act like Greed to get out of it
-the final scene would be in Xing and I'm not sure, maybe he would wake up from a nightmare where he was Greed being pulled out of Ling's body (they were psychically linked then, you can't tell me that wouldn't leave some really weird scars and dreams) and Lan Fan wakes him up and calls him Ling, and of course she would never see him as anything other than Ling because she's known him her whole life and always refused to accept Greed having control of his body
Kamen Rider Blade Star Trek
Okay so when I was in early high school there was a genre of crossover in which a team (Star Trek crew, Firefly crew, the Avengers) meet some strange man (honestly usually the Doctor from Doctor Who) and are just like 'wtf is this guy's deal's. Additionally, Kamen Rider Blade has a novel set 300 years in the future where the main character has amnesia. So I have decided to combine the two of these things
Basically Kamen Rider Blade ending premise (spoilers): a human called Kenzaki sacrifices his humanity for a member of the monster group (Hajime) to keep living a life among humans. The catch is that now they are both immortal, and if they ever meet again they will be compelled to fight to the death
So this fic would alternate between povs of the cast of Star Trek Deep Space Nine.
One day they receive a distress call, but upon further inspection it's coming from a small craft that has already been shot up to the point where nobody could survive it. They figure that they might as well check it though, see if there are any bodies to return to families or something. However, there is a unconscious but otherwise perfectly healthy and human looking man.
He wakes up, and it turns out that he doesn't have any of his memories except his name, and upon second inspection he is not human but also doesn't resemble any aliens they know. He's almost human with all the right organs in the same place and everything, but his blood is green and viscous and they aren't sure if half the organs are actually doing anything, etc. Also sometimes he references things from turn of the millennium earth as if he lived there himself which is wild
There's just a lot of crew interactions which I will not get into, but I would definitely find a way to bring Garak and Keiko into this, along with the main crew (by which I mostly mean Sisko, Jadzia, and Julien because I don't really know what Kira or Odo would have to say to Kenzaki)
This is interspersed with scenes of Hajime on a commercial transporter flying to deep space nine because he wants to go through the wormhole because he's super depressed and maybe going to the other side of the galaxy will help (it probably won't, but who knows. It's not like he's tried it before. Maybe there, he'll be far away enough he won't feel the constant urge lingering in the background to go find and kill his only surviving friend, the person he cares most about in the entire universe)

Requests and Rules
Tumblr media
Hello! I am new to tumblr but thought it be fun to try out and use to get out some one shots, extras from my in-progress stories, etc;
I write on Wattpad, Ao3, Quotev, and fan fiction.net under the usernames Nerd101, NeedAlert101, and ArmyBratz101 for those of you who may have heard or read my stories before. This is my first post! And I’ve decided to start off with requests. To me get started, afterwards, some time in the future, we’ll see whether or not I’ll continue doing requests once I get the ball rolling.
Fandoms:
Doctor Who
Danny Phantom
DC
Marvel
Twisted Wonderland
Katekyo Hitman Reborn
One Piece
Percy Jackson
Miraculous Ladybug
Transformers (specifically Bayverse, but I’m open to the other versions as well. Just be specific)
Twilight (limited, I'm very picky with this one)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Persona 5
How to Train Your Dragon
Avatar the Last Airbender
Hobbit
Lord of the Rings
Fate (Be specific which one)
My Hero Acadamia
Supernatural
Lucifer
Good Omens
(More will most likely be added on in the future.)
What I Can and Am Willing to Do:
Crossovers; I’ve always find it fun twisting the stories and universe in ways so two worlds can exist as one, or just how one person from a different world is like in another.
Reader inserts; I’m meh at them (haven’t done too many) but depending on the request I might do some. But don’t get your hopes up.
OCs; it’s fun making up characters from a different world, but I will only do my own. You want to request an OC from a certain world, great! Just if you want a specific detail (ability, world they’re from, personality trait, people to interact with, good/bad/antihero, love interest, etc;) just tell me and I’ll add that in! These OC’s can also be used for requests in the future once finished (I’ll even draw them).
AUs; I love them and and always enjoy writing them. Such as soulmates, fantasy, mafia, monsters, etc; been original made up ones you guys have in mind, I’m willing to try them out! There are just only two Aus that I won’t do, and they will be specified in my ‘Don’ts’ list.
Fluff; give me the fluff!
Hurt/comfort; some of these babies have been through a lot. And I will gladly write stories that give them the love and strength that they deserve.
Angst; I’m suprise at myself at how GOOD I actually am at writing angst. It almost scares me 😅. But just to let you know, the angst I wrote will always turn out alright and happy, even a little fluffy, at the end bc I can’t write sad endings to save my life.
happy endings; not much to say. Summed it up pretty much in the Angst rule. I hate unhappy endings, ‘nough said.
Extras; if you’re a reader of my content and stories from the fan fiction sites and want something that are not shown in the books, like an au or scene between episodes/chapters then go on and request some. Even aus or different way things could have happened in my stories go ahead and ask!
Music Videos; I like doing them, they’re fun. I’ve been making some from over the years with my hoards of photos and fan art I’ve found and saved over the years lol. But yeah, I’ll most likely post some I’ve already have, but if you have a certain song or fandom, go ahead and request!
(More will most likely be added on in the future.)
What I Won’t Do:
Smut or any kind of NSFW; I will write kisses, cuddles, and other romance couple things, but it’s going to be very safe and PG.
Alpha/Beta/Omegas; it ties in with smut and NSFW for me, I know that’s not the thing all the time, and there are a couple of stories in this au that I like, but I don’t feel confident enough to write this while making it comfortable for me and sticking to the au. So, just to save me the pain, no, I will not do this au. Sorry if that disappoints you guys.
Yandere; I like this content on occasion, but I will not be able to write this for the life of me. I put myself in the characters’ I write shoes, as if I was living the adventure with them. So I can’t write this in that case. Angst is one thing, this is something else entirely. Again, sorry for those of you that are disappointed, but I gotta put my foot down on things that make me uncomfortable.
Sad/Unhappy endings; I kinda mentioned/glossed over this already. But I’m putting down anyway, just in case. I can write sad and angst things but I always gotta end light or happy. If I don’t, then it most likely means I’ll be doing a continuation of that particular story/one shot.
(More will most likely be added on in the future.)
This is just the beginning. Direct message me, or go to the ask box. I will be waiting, in the mean time, I will most likely be writing some stuff on my own in between requests. I hope you enjoy my work!
Be Your Best You! Bye~!

Girl, being a chrobin shipper is so exausting because you're either dealing with super misogynistic people who hates f!robin for being "in the way" of gay chrobin or with huge homophobes who loves to bring up lucina to invalidate m!chrobin and really think that male friendships are under attack? (and a lot of weird people who just feels disgusted if you dare to imply that their virtual husband might be bi and like dudes too?) Like, when will we be free? 😭
Oof yeah I feel this one hard. I don't see a lot of people talking about F!Robin being "in the way" necessarily, but people can get really mean and aggro about their glee when she doesn't get crossover stuff instead of him (as if that's some kind of new or revolutionary treatment of player characters split by gender, lol? when has the male avatar ever been favored??? as if he doesn't already get the lion's share of crossover content when they decide to give things to only one of them?) and making big gloating claims about how she's been decanonized/passed over for Chrobin content, and stuff like that? But also if we commission art of the content for ourselves that's bad too? Okay. IDK. I empathize a lot with people who are excited to get content / ship tease for the m/m version of the ship that wasn't possible in the base game. It's not lost on me why that's exciting. I just wish people weren't so god damn rude about F!Robin in the process just for...existing? Lol. Any time M!Robin gets something it somehow circles back around into being time to dunk on F!Robin and how inferior they think she is. Even with the legendary there was someone going on about how awesome it was she could never get a title like that (which was hers first lmao) and a lot of rubbing in how he's "supplanting" her in Chrobin content, THANK GOD etc, the Valentine's unit had people mad she was there at all and trashing her for being "ugly" and just existing in proximity on the banner, so on and so forth. And there's a lot of "only straight people would ship this" which is really frustrating as a woman who isn't straight. I just fucking like female player characters. Assuming that someone's ship(s) translates directly to their real life sexuality is garbage for everyone.
And then yeah on the other end people act like M!Chrobin broke into their house and stole all of their guy-guy friendships out of their hands and then peed on their dog or something. The sanctity of dude friendships will survive gay shipping, actually. It's fine. And the Lucina bit is so fucking old. There's plenty of ways in real life for two men to have a kid, let alone in a magic universe. Like do you have any imagination at all lmfao. Surrogacy? Lucina coming from a different timeline, which Awakening explicitly has? That gender change potion that gets brought up in a Sully support? There's tons of options for how to think out how it could work if you stop for a few seconds. The only limitation is being a joy killer who wants to remind people they couldn't play this option in the original game without hacks.
Anyway I don't think we'll ever be free. I'm trying to read the tags less and block more liberally so that I can have a more peaceful time but I'm unfortunately prone to searching things I know will frustrate me just to have a bad time for...I don't know why I do that but I'd like to stop. But I don't think we can really change fandom, we can only change how we interact with it and what we look at.
I did make the below image the other day (and then neglected to post it because I'm trying to be more positive, lol) thinking about how M!Robin fans have made me incredibly tired of M!Robin, but I hate how people are shit about M!Chrobin and dump all over the fans just having a good time with it, and I end up feeling alienated from a lot of different corners from people I supposedly share a ship with, so I feel you, anon. It's especially sad to me that this springs out of something that is supposed to be fun. It's good to remind myself that fandom is low stakes nonsense when shit gets heated, but it doesn't make me feel less sad about it in the moment.
Anyway, truly the mood for the F!Chrobin-only shipper who ended up that way because I have a preference for female player characters and can't fucking stand how M!Robin fans talk about F!Robin who nonetheless dislikes how people barge in on M!Chrobin fans having fun to be awful to them:
Tumblr media
p.s. bisexual Chrom forever they can take that from my cold dead claws. And also he has chemistry with Gaius too so like it's not even just a Robinsexual thing, he's just bi. End of story for me.

Last Line Challenge
Rules: in a new post, show the last line you wrote (or drew) and tag as many people as there are words (or as many as you feel like).
I got tagged by @shootingstarpilot, who's very excellent piece made me slightly sad and want to write some more of the A Star-Lined Path universe even though that's supposed to be complete. No Star Wars in this batch, I've been on a DC binge, and as last time, here's two snippets; one from my current ongoing project, and then the actual last bit that I wrote.
First, my current project, which has no title at the moment but the document is named 'Intense Cryptid Batfam Vibes' so there's something of an idea as to what we're getting into;
The entire Colony went to ground for the next four months.
Starling appeared again at that point, going after criminals with a similar ferociousness to his mentor. The Bat returned a month later, just as silent and dangerous as ever.
There was no sign of Robin.
The two members of the Colony grew more and more violent, more persistent in hunting down crime wherever they could and less worried about the injuries they left behind. Batgirl reappeared, seemingly trying to temper them with whatever scraps of humanity she had left, but she never made it very far. Not when her own rage was so clearly at the surface, displayed on her wings and in the hammer of her fists.
Then there's the actual last thing that I wrote, which was just this morning because my brain gave me a new fic idea. It's also got no title, but I'm not sharing the document name this time cause that'll spoil the fun;
Jason sighed, shivering as he started to warm up, and curled into a ball. No point trying to set up the seatbelt when it wouldn't help him anyway, and he was too tired to even think about another human illusion so it looked less strange.
"Can you transform and put your seatbelt on?" Batman asked when he got back, and Jason groaned.
"No. Too tired, and it wouldn't work anyway." He said. "It'd pop. I can't hold it well enough."
Batman just nodded, a slight frown creasing the mask, and started the car. "Can you tell me how it happened?"
Jason considered playing dumb, but he knew what the Bat wanted to know.
"Dunno." He shrugged. "Just... woke up this way. Figured things out as I went, tried not to die."
"I see." It smelt like he didn't really believe him, but unfortunately for Batman, Jason wasn't lying. There wasn't a reason to, any more. He was already committed to this, and dodging the questions would just cause Jason trouble.
He was already lucky the Bat hadn't beaten him for his car.
(I adore both of these AU's, they're so much fun to write. I'm in DC hell but goddamn is DC a nice sandbox to mess around with. I will share that the second one is a mild crossover fic, but the first one is pure DC.)
No pressure tags to @kalicofox and @clockwayswrites, plus anyone who spots this in the wild and decides that they fancy sharing something!

i've made myself SO sad
so like. augh. I decided to make the prologue/opening scene of the Where The Heart Is AU version of the ROTTMNT movie be it's own standalone fic, because it's from the perspective of someone who dies in order to make the events of the movie happen? And that person will never be in the fic again? So I decided I had to write out enough to explain the 10 year gap between the end of the "Where The Heart Is: The Long Hello" comic and the start of the movie
but because this is explicitly a crossover with One Sword, in that Ripley went straight from killing Natashoggoth to "post Season 2 New York, middle of a turtles v yokai fight" I realized that I've established that the pines family is around and in fact the events of Gravity Falls the show happened 7 years previous without the interference of Ripley, so they basically followed canon
And because I'm a tender hearted doofus I thought to myself, "Ah man, I should figure out how this second apocalypse went for the Pines Family"
And because I'm apparently a masochist I decided "honestly, by the time it's been roughly 15-20 years since the beginning of the apocalypse, there's... probably not very many Gravity Falls characters still around! Huh!"
And somehow this led to me writing an apocalyptic Mabel Pines death scene that ends with the Krang glassing the pacific northwest in retaliation, and. like. yeah i had to get to that point, the Bad Timeline makes it seem really clear that even if Junior wasn't the sole surviving Earthling from that timeline, the world would be utterly uninhabitable, already was on its last gasp there
and like. sigh. partly i'm purposefully setting it up for the major interpersonal conflict in Where The Heart Is: The Movie is to be between an incredibly hurt, bitter adult from a dead world and Ripley, so I'm trying to make it start with this painful experience to kind of balance out how incredibly lovey-dovey found-family it's going to end up being...
i'm just at the part where no amount of Ripley Quips is soothing my sore heart, lmao

No Other Version of Me - Prologue (1/?)
Summary: Amalia Queen was once said to be so important that the universe made sure she happened. Yes, it was her mom who said that but it still counts. Now, she's an adult and struggles to be worthy of such sentence. She doesn't want to be a vigilante and make so many sacrifices like the rest of her family, but it doesn't mean she doesn't want to save the world.
Sequel to "Five Lives"
Note: I know many writers have already done their take on next gen and canon did make it kinda pointless, but I promised to one (1) person I'd write this like two years ago and I don't like lying. Also the crossover episodes made me sad and I wanted to go to my happy place.
It's a sequel to Five Lives, so the Next Gen here is NOT Mia and co, as she hadn't been introduced when I wrote it.This first chapter is a prologue, it doesn't feature any known character but it was relevant for plot resons that will be clear later! Please, bear with me!
Read under “read more” or here on AO3.
May 2027.
It was the day. Karima felt her palms sweating as soon as she woke up; she had to close her eyes and steady her breath before getting up. As always, Taliq had gotten up before her and had already left for work. She took that as confirmation that he didn’t suspect a thing. A few hours, that was how long she needed to hold still and fake her smile. After two years of planning, she could barely believe she was that close from freedom. Her heart didn’t seem to want to wait that long, almost bursting from her chest, trying to make an early escape. It’s almost done now, she told herself. We’re almost there.
Waking up the girls was easy. Just routine. She can almost feel herself relaxing into it, braiding Samyia’s hair as Naila draws in her book and tells the story behind what she’s drawing. Those moments with her girls are what fuels her spirit.
“You look so pretty,” Karima told Samyia, kissing her cheek, “So grown up.”
The smile that blossoms on her daughter’s face is enough to blind anyone. Samyia is always so serious, Karima received every smile as a precious gift.
“What about me? Do I look pretty too?” Naila asked, leaving her drawing behind to join the others.
“Of course you do, my love,” Karima said, kissing the top of her head and pulling both girls into a hug.
The door opened and the room became silent. Taliq stared at them with no emotion and didn’t say anything. There was a time where he would have smiled at the scene, where he would ask if he could join the hug. Karima wished she had forgotten about those days, it would make things easier for her. But every morning when he came by, she hoped it would be the day she’d see her husband again.
She should know better. Her husband was long gone and only the monster lived there now.
Karima squeezed Samyia’s hand but encouraged both girls to follow their father. Not that they needed encouragement, they knew it was time to go. Karima wished she could tell them to hold on for a few hours and everything would be okay, but she couldn’t risk telling them anything. She just let their girls go. She was always watching them go and staying behind.
“Do not forget about the party tonight,” Taliq told her, “I left some money for you to do your hair. We want to make a good impression.”
Karima just nodded. More money was good, time was even better. Just a few hours, she reminded herself as she started packing the girls’ clothes. They couldn’t bring much, but she didn’t want them to need anything if something went wrong. Looking around the girls’ room she wondered if she should take any of their toys. There definitely wasn’t enough space for that, but she ended up getting Samyia’s favorite blanket and a few of Naila’s recent drawings. If something happened… No, she couldn’t think like this.
Her room was the easiest, she got fewer change of clothes for herself than she had for the girls. She had sold most of her jewelry over the last two years, but there were still a few valuable things that she packed in case they needed them later. When she was done the bag was so full that it was hard to close, but she managed it.
She had to wait until she was sure none of the house employees were around to take the bag outside, to hide it in the middle of the garden’s bushes. She texted Inaya to say the plan was on time, praying her friend would not change her mind today.
Inaya was the only other person who knew about her plan. She was the one who had told Karima that she could do this, that she could get her girls away from Taliq.
A moment later, Inaya confirmed that everything was ready for them.
The worst part was the waiting. The minutes passed and nothing happened. Karima wouldn’t need help prtending to be sick, her stomach was turning inside her and she couldn’t stop sweating. But she couldn’t risk it, so she took the little vial of poison anyway. Not enough to cause permanent damage, Inaya had said, just enough to make sure you’d be sick.
This was it, this was either the last day of her life or the first day of her new one.
By the time Taliq came back she was kneeling in front of the toilet throwing her organs up. Despite her body hating her right now, she knew she had done the right thing. The dark under her eyes couldn’t be faked.
“What is going on?” Taliq asked when he arrived in the room, “You look disgusting! How are we going to be seen this way?”
“I’m sorry,” she whispered. “I’m feeling terrible. I can’t go tonight.”
She saw the anger in his eyes, she prepared herself for one of his violent kicks, but it didn’t come.
“Maybe we’ll get a new baby soon, huh? A boy this time?” He was smiling. Karima’s heart broke for the man he used to be.
“It might be the flu,” she answered, her voice tired. She tried to smile back to him, but she couldn’t. She hoped he’d attribute it to her sickness.
“It’d be great if we could replicate the work we’ve been doing with Naila,” he continued, as she hadn’t said anything. “We’re almost there, habibi.”
This time the pet name didn’t do anything to make her feel bad about her plans. He was almost done which meant her time was over. This was her only chance.
“Are you going to be okay by yourself?” Taliq asked.
“Yes, I just need to rest. Tomorrow I’ll feel a lot better.”
Tomorrow a lot of things would be different.
Taliq nodded and turned away, getting ready for his own event. Karima tried to compose herself and lay down on her bed, as if to rest her eyes for a moment. When Taliq left, she only knew because she was paying attention to all the sounds in the house and heard the door closing.
She waited half an hour to be sure he wouldn’t come back and then got up. Now it was the crucial part of the night. All she wanted to do was curl up in a ball and cry until the nausea stopped, but there was no time for that. First, she had to tell the maid to go for the night. She had been ready to stay with the girls, since she and Taliq were to be at the event, and was already getting them ready for bed. Convincing her was not difficult, even sick, she had authority in the house.
“Are you going to tell us a story, mommy?” Naila asked when she entered their room.
“I thought you were going to the fancy party tonight,” Samyia commented, noticing her mom in comfortable home clothes.
“Not right now, babies, we’re going to do something different today,” she whispered to them, “I need you to be awake for a bit longer, okay? Why don’t you two go draw something while you wait for me to come back?”
Both girls nodded. Naila loved drawing and jumped out of bed the moment she could, running to her colored pencils. Samyia stared at her mom for a while, wondering what was happening, but she didn’t question it, just obeyed. They always obeyed.
Convincing the security guard to leave was the hardest part. There was only one guarding the house, the other one had gone to get something to eat, the way they always did when they were left to guard the house during the night and Taliq wasn’t there. Karima had observed enough to know that. The second guard wouldn’t be back for at least half an hour. Doing her best to show her pain, she begged the guard to go to the pharmacy and buy her the medicine she wanted. For months now, she had been telling everyone she didn’t trust ordering things online, liked seeing them. All this just for this moment.
The guard hesitated, he knew if Taliq arrived now he’d be in trouble. He should never leave the house unguarded but he couldn’t say no to Karima. Not when she was clearly in pain and he was the only one who could go, she could not leave the house alone at this time of the night. In the end, he ended up leaving, saying he’d be back in less than fifteen minutes.
Karima’s heart raced in her chest. There was not enough time, she ran upstairs as soon as she closed the door behind her. Her daughters looked at her alarmed when she entered.
“Come with me,” she told them, and grabbed each by the hand.
Naila complained a little about how fast they were going while Samyia only looked confused. They got out through the backdoor and Karima sighed in relief when Inaya was waiting in the dark, holding the bag she had hidden earlier.
“Everything on schedule?” Inaya asked instead of greeting her, Karima just nodded and handled both girls to Inaya.
“That’s mommy’s friend, Inaya. Do what she says until I come back, okay?” she told the children, and then turned to her friend. “If I’m not there in ten minutes, go.”
Inaya didn’t look happy about that but they had discussed it before. The priority was taking Samyia and Naila out of there. Without time to explain for her daughters what was happening, Karima hoped Inaya would comfort them enough, so she ran back inside.
She ran straight to Taliq’s lab. It was locked by fingerprint and a 6-number password. The DNA had been easier than she imagined it would be since they lived in the same house, but the password was harder. She wasn’t allowed in the lab, hadn’t been there since Naila was little, and the password changed every month. She had searched the entire house to see if Taliq had written it somewhere, but she had no luck. She could have asked for the girls to pay attention when their father was typing and tell her later, but she couldn’t risk them accidentally telling that to the wrong person.
It had been hard, it took her being extra nice and agreeable to Taliq for weeks, but over the last month she managed to have him open the door in front of her. And then it was completed.
With less care than she should, she added his fingerprint and the numbers and she was there. She went directly to the machine, Taliq’s golden mine. She knew the schematics must have been uploaded somewhere, but she couldn’t be bothered with that. She started taking things apart with her own hands. It’d be faster if she was stronger, but there wasn’t anyone else who could do this. When she had done the best she could, she started opening the cabinets, searching for anything flammable and dropping in to the floor. She looked for anything that had the girls’ DNA and dropped it as well.
When her watch started beeping, she knew her time was up. With the lighter she had gotten the week before, she started the fire. It wasn’t spreading as fast as she thought it would, so she tried dropping more flammable things near it. Starting to get desperate for the fire to become bigger, she opened the drawer full of chemicals and started pouring them on the floor. The fire started to spread quickly after that and almost burned her. The smoke started to spread through the windowless room, her entire body told her to get out of there soon or she wouldn’t be able to breathe for much longer, but Karima couldn’t help but admire what she had just done. Taliq’s life work was in flames and he had no idea. No matter what happened from now on, it was over.
She turned to go out just to remember the door was closed. Her vision was starting to get foggy with the smoke, tears forming in her eyes, but she managed to open it, immediately coughing when she got in contact with the clean air. She had to drag a metal chair to stop the door from closing again. Luckily the floor was made of wood and would help spread the fire faster.
Getting out of the lab, she went straight to the kitchen, making the oven start leaking gas, and dropped the lighter on the floor. Soon, everything would explode. She could see the flames starting to spread out of the lab and ran away through the backdoor.
She ran all way to the meeting point, a block from her house, where Inaya was waiting inside the car with both girls. When she pulled the door open, Inaya didn’t say anything, just started the car.
Samyia and Naila started asking questions as soon as Karima arrived, but she was too busy coughing to answer. She had breathed the smoke for too long and running to the car hadn’t help her lack of oxygen.
“There’s some water in the back,” Inaya said, and Karima searched for it.
The water burned when she drank it, but it helped relieve some of the pain.
The weight of what she had just done seemed to suddenly hit her. The tears started forming in her eyes and before she could stop herself she was sobbing. For years, she had kept her tears to herself, being strong for her daughters, faking a smile so Taliq wouldn’t find out about her plans. But now it was over, she was free! She cried so much she could barely breathe, but she couldn’t stop either. The feelings needed to get out of her right now.
“This is as far as I can take you,” Inaya said, touching her arm to get her attention. “Here are the new identities. I’m sorry I couldn’t do more.”
“You have done more than I can ever repay you,” Karima answered, smiling under her tears.
“What’s going on, Mommy? Where are we?”
“I’ll explain everything later, I need you both to be quiet now, please, just go with me. Tomorrow I’ll tell you everything.”
Where they were was the bus station, where they’d get a bus to another city, and then they’d meet a guy who was going to take them over the border. Once there, they’d get a train, and then they’d have to pay someone to take them closer to the mountains. And once they were close, they’d have to walk for miles until they could get there.
And that’s what they did. As they completed each step and got farther from home, farther from Taliq, Karima felt the relief taking over her body. She had done it, she had truly done it. She didn’t let herself wonder about what happened there. If Taliq was searching or mourning them. If he had found out about Inaya’s connection to her. This was all secondary to her freedom.
She only noticed that she hadn’t stopped coughing since the fire when Naila asked if she was still sick. But she didn’t mind it at first, it was just a cough. But it didn’t go away and, by the time they got to the mountains, it had started being a lot harder to breathe. She couldn’t go to a doctor, couldn’t risk anything official and she didn’t want to stop. Over a week had passed and Taliq would know by now they were all alive, would be searching for them. Her mission wasn’t over yet.
Samyia and Naila were scared and tired. They trusted their mom, but they had never left the city before, had never done anything without their father’s authorization. They missed their home, their bed, their food and their routine. For years, they had complied with everything done with them, but now they’d beg Mom to stop. Naila would cry in silence and Samyia would refuse to move.
But the worst part was when she could see the fear in their eyes. When they noticed that mom was coughing up blood, they insisted on stop, but Karima made them continue to walk. One foot in front of the other, even when her lung seemed to burn under her skin and her feet hurt so much it could fall down, Karima did not stop. Not even if she had to crawl, she would arrive.
And after days, she saw something. Her body fell on the ground and she had to do so much effort to walk, she wondered if she’d die now that she was so close.
When they arrived in the gates, women with swords received her. She could barely talk now, her throat was too damaged for that.
“Please,” she whispered, “You need to protect my daughters.”
This was all she ever needed.
Despite their frightening weapons and eyes, they helped Karima and the girls inside. They took her to an infirmary and gave her medicine.
But Karima knew it was too late for her. She knew there was something wrong with her lungs. She made a choice when she decided to run away, to save her children. She had never felt so much pain in her life, but she was smiling.
Her girls were safe now.
She had saved them and now the League would protect them.

Too much patience can be a bad thing, and forgiveness that has not been earned is likewise toxic.
Longtime followers will know that I had a major entitlement problem with fans of the Monster Hunter series of games back when I was posting on FFnet, to the point of getting threats if I didn't include their favorite monsters from their favorite games, not to mention the racism and other bigotry that often came from them as well. My "favorite", speaking as hyperbole, was the one who went on a long ramble that hit the length limit for FFnet Private Messages midsentence, and included the assertion that "...if you need a design for the New World you can just choose America before this time since there are no records of you can make it however you want."
Yeah. I can apparently just "make pre-Columbian America however I want" according to this racist fuckwit!
So I was already not exactly well disposed to the MH fandom, and made a polite but firm author's note in one chapter that I would not be accepting requests or suggestions for inclusion of materials from other IPs.
This, of course, was a challenge that at least some of the more entitled ones couldn't take lying down.
One in particular left a review that set the tone for our subsequent interactions and is the driving force of this post.
Holy crap this story is nothing short of incredible. I’m at a loss for words to describe how good it is. Though I totally understand why you had to put a stop to crossover dragons/wyverns from other series, even though as a Monster Hunter veteran with ~3500 hours played in FU, Tri, 3U, 4U, Gen, and GenU I’d have loved to see some things cross over. Assuming this epic continues (as that is what it is), perhaps as the Vikings’ society as they evolve could see Monster Hunter creatures in the Asiatic regions, Pacific Islands, and Australia. Australia was barely discovered, let alone seriously colonized, by Europeans during the time of this story. Likewise with Pacific Islands. Likewise with Japan which was mostly isolated until much later on. So there’s possibility for inclusion of stuff in sequel stories. Monster Hunter happens to be a treasure trove of countless highly varied creature designs. Plus the case of Stories’ rider village would have a lot of parity to How to Train Your Dragon, I think, though with your amazing plot weaving skills you could crank out something more unique and less cliche than what Stories did.
~~~
See what he did there? Oh, sure, nothing from his favorite game series--with 3500 hours of play, to give an idea of how much time he's invested in it--can be in this story. Boundary from the author accepted!...
except...
Perhaps...
In a sequel...
I could still include his favorites. The author's boundary be damned, because he wants it. It's up for negotiation, made all the more toxic by the initial acknowledgement.
I made a followup AN in the next chapter, where I made it explicitly, emphatically clear that, no, there was no chance of inclusion, in this story or in sequels.
So what does this person do?
Sends me a PM, apologizing...
And then, once he'd acknowledged the boundary, tried to negotiate around it again, this time telling me
That being said, being totally turned off of a series because of a small toxic subsection of a community is kinda sad. Most people in the MH community are agreeable. Just avoid GameFAQs & Reddit if you ever decide to give one of the games in the series a try. Ordinary players in the actual online portions of the games are usually nice, often rather humorous, and respectful. As my second review of ATOV said, the toxicity is due to generational leaps in the series over time and associated huge game mechanics changes going with that. Think the "Gen Wunners" from Pokemon, only multiplied by at least three or four separate times. Please don't hate on the entire community for the irrational anger of a small handful of people. The games themselves are challenging, large time sinks, and have near-endless replay value with 10-14 different weapons playing like entire new games, but they are generally rather lacking in the story department. And despite supposed "clone" games like Tokiden or Dauntless existing, nothing really replicates the gameplay.
Isn't that nice? Oh, yes, Mr Author Sir, you have this boundary, which I will acknowledge and apologize for violating...
And then immediately violate again by telling you not only to ignore that boundary, but how.
I blocked him after telling him that he was part of the problem.
A year later, he left a review on AO3, apologizing once more.
And I hemmed and hawwed and debated on what to do. Because I try not to rush to judgment.
He joined the ATOV Discord server, and knowing that I was biased, I let him stay, with the caveat that if he so much as showed a hint of trying to negotiate past someone's boundaries, he would get strikes.
And he showed that, no, he hadn't really grown, hadn't really matured, hadn't really learned to consider other people's needs. I even wrote a piece of smut fic last year specifically out of spite at one of his more egregiously self-centered comments where he used my fic to bash other people's work.
So this morning, he left.
And to be honest? I never should have let him stay in the first place. But I'm too patient. I'm too forgiving. And I gave him too many chances, and he wasted them all in his toxic self-centeredness.
It is possible to take a virtue too far.
10 Amazing Futurama Comics
There is a severe lack of Futurama content on this and other sites (seriously, the Night at the Museum movies have more fics than Futurama). And, nobody posts about the Futurama comics. So I’m posting 10 of my favorites.
10. Attack of the 50-Foot Amy (Issue #33)
Tumblr media
It’s actually not as sexual as the cover makes it out to be. The basic premise is that Amy mistakes the can of growth spray (that Cubert and Dwight want to use for their science fair project) for hair spray and sprays waaaay too much before her anniversary date with Kif. Meanwhile, Bender teaches Fry the wonders of video piracy, but after he gets scared by a movie home alone style he eats his disc of pirated movies and starts uncontrollably acting them out. You can probably guess how these two plots connect.
While I do list this one as one of my favorites, it’s far from perfect. The artwork is good, but the scaling on Amy is very wonky so she looks more like a twenty-foot Amy (also Dwight’s eyes are drawn weird in this comic, he looks blazed out the entire time). But I cannot help but be charmed by this comic. It’s got some sweet Bender and Fry friendship moments and actually makes me believe Kif and Amy’s relationship for a little bit. They are very sweet in this comic, although Kif does go through some pain in this comic.
Best moments: They way they resolve the plot is actually pretty funny and clever, plus Bender hopped up on pirated movies is a joy. At one point Fry gets shoved by Steven Spielbot (don’t ask) and Bender goes all Rocky on his ass saying “No one talks to my gal, Adrian, like that!” It’s very sweet and...subtextual if you understand my meaning. This one also has anti comic book piracy message at the end which was ironic for me to read.
9. Doctor What (Issue #32)
Tumblr media
The Professor creates a time traveling port-a-potty so that you can pee in whatever time and space you want, although it’s completely random. However, Zoidberg accidentally breaks the potty, so him, Leela, Fry, and Bender have to keep randomly flushing to get back home. On each of these new worlds Zoidberg keeps accidentally saving the citizens, getting medals, and ends up becoming addicted to the fame he keeps winning. Which leads to them getting stuck in a post apocalyptic New New York.
This is the infamous Leela-Bender-Fry fusion comic, Leelan von Fry-Bot. His backstory is actually a little sad, but I won’t spoil it here. This one is pretty good, because it has Zoidberg as the hero. Actually quite a few of these feature Zoidberg as a fourth member of the delivery crew which is weird, but not entirely unwelcome. It’s also fun to see these other worlds, and now that I think about it it’s actually a little similar to The Late Phillip J. Fry, what with the time travel to different interesting worlds.
Best Moments: I actually liked Leelan’s backstory, and his interactions with his “parents” (you’ll understand when you read it) are actually pretty funny and a little cute. Fry really wants to be a dad you can tell.
8. The Simpsons Futurama Crossover Crisis II
Tumblr media
The professor creates a device that takes characters out of their stories into the real world. Trouble is, he tells the mayor that this invention is useful because you can get slave labor out of the characters because they technically have no constitutional rights. The Simpsons end up working with the Planet Express crew, but an accident leads to the release of ALL FICTIONAL CHARACTERS EVER.
This is a sequel comic to the Futurama Simpsons Infinitely Secret Crossover Crisis (fun fact: a reference to several famous comic book arcs). I chose this one above it though because I think it understood the assignment better. The original is funny, but I just don’t think that Springfield is a good setting for a Futurama crossover. Springfield for all its zaniness, is not the future. New New York, however, is great for this crossover. We get several scenes where we see the Simpsons going through space and fighting off monsters. We even get to see the other residents of Springfield in the future, Mr. Smithers becomes a space pirate and Mr. Burns falls in love with Mom, it’s great.
Best Moments: Some of them I already mentioned, but I cannot stress enough how hilarious the Burns-Mom romance is, it’s especially good when you can hear their voices in your head. I also like the friendship the Simpsons have with the Planet Express crew.
7. Six Characters in Search of a Story (Issue #14)
Tumblr media
This is a very interesting comic. The Professor falls asleep, so to pass the time the crew decides to look through his old failed inventions, and well, that’s a very bad idea. The most interesting thing about this comic is it’s designed so that if you want you can only read certain panels to follow one person’s story. The Futurama comics do this a lot of the time and it’s always interesting.
The shenanigans that occur in this one are really funny, and there are some great looking pages in this. Also the Futurama crew clearly took ideas from the comics, and this is one of them. You can tell from the cover art that this does have elements of “Benderama” in it, what with Bender cloning himself ad infinitum. I also really like the climax, it’s a little schmultz-y for Futurama, but I don’t mind.
Best Moments: Fry gets stuck with a Spanish speaking Bender and I don’t know why but it’s really funny to me. The professor also gets some funny moments in this one. And Scruffy. Scruffy is always a delight.
6. Igner-ance is Bliss! (Issue #63)
Tumblr media
Yeah this is the infamous robot Leela and Fry comic. Don’t worry, like the cover says, it’s not as dramatic as it looks. The crew has to go to a world that’s too dangerous for humans, so Fry, Leela, and Zoidberg all have their consciousnesses put into robot doubles so they can make the delivery. However, it turns out this planet is a sort of getaway spa for robots, and the crew decides to party it up there, at least until Bender discovers that this is a front for an evil plot by Mom. The subplot is mostly about how Igner is not respected by his brothers.
This one is fun, and I love a comic where Bender has to be the voice of reason. It is clearly killing him to be the responsible one, but I love it. Also, I have a soft spot for Igner, so it’s nice to see him get thrown a bone for once. This also has some really fun jokes with everyone, but Zoidberg in particular gets some bangers. I think my only problem is it ISN’T as cool as the cover makes it out, but like I’m happy with what it is.
Best Moments: Fry beats up Bender at one point and wins, I think he deserved it. Also, y’all know Admiral Ackbar from Star Wars? He makes some cameos in this one. Also all the robots (sans Bender) make a Japanese style mecha and it’s the coolest thing ever. Plus everything I’ve said about Igner I love in this one. Oh also Fry beats Calculon at poker and I really love that.
5. Who’s Dying to be a Gazillionaire? (Issue #5)
Tumblr media
This one is sweet. The IRS is threatening to bankrupt Planet Express, and if they can’t think of a way to make a million dollars they will go out of business. No one really has any ideas and doesn’t even really care, except for Fry who is determined to save Planet Express. He gets the idea to go onto Who Wants to be a Gazillionaire to make the money, even though it’s a trivia show and if he loses he will die.
This one really warms my heart, it’s Fry at his best, just doing what he can for the people he loves. Even the professor is great in this one. I don’t want to spoil it, but trust me when I say it’s good (god I hope I’m not building this up too much).
Best moments: The end panel. But also the resolution of the story is great, and I really appreciate this comic for Fry as a character.
4. Rumble in the Jungle (Issue #38)
Tumblr media
This is a fine comic. Leela is mad that she’s not being respected by Fry and Bender, and it’s bad enough that they don’t believe her when she says they’re going to crash into a planet. They end up parachuting down and getting separated. Leela ends up as queen of some workers in the “Amazon,” meanwhile Fry finds Bender’s corpse and goes off to avenge him.
This one is fun, and another fun one for Fry, because he’s determined to avenge Bender and works hard for it. This also includes the original Frender, not the ship but fusion. Leela and Fry even have a fight scene against each other and it’s honestly great.
Best Moments: Fry is great throughout the entire comic, and Leela spends most of her time beating up random animals. Bender also using a lead parachute he made out of toys he stole from children is funny, especially because I’m always a sucker for Bender doing dumb shit.
3. Don’t Go Taking My Heart! (Issue #69) (nice)
Tumblr media
Mom only has a couple weeks to live, unless she can get a heart transplant. It’s revealed that Mom uses the cryogenics lab to get new body parts for herself, and that Fry was supposed to be her heart donor! Unfortunately, because he was unfrozen she now has to get him to work for Mom Corp to make sure his heart stays intact for the procedure.
If you can’t tell I love the Fry-centric comics, and I also like the comics where Mom is the villain. Of course this comic doesn’t go completely how you expect it to go, it’s actually REALLY sweet. I also love the fact that in this comic Fry actually makes a great intern. He basically has the job of a secretary and he’s GOOD at it. And I love seeing when Fry is good at things. The reason why I put this at only 3 is because it doesn’t really have a subplot. Bender gets a job at mom corp to but it’s only there for a couple pages, and Leela’s new crew gets two panels and that’s it.
Best Moments: The moments with Mom and Fry, but also guess who Mom’s doctor is? I’m actually not going to reveal it because it’s so random but also hilarious.
2. Boomsday! (Issue #58)
Tumblr media
The Professor builds Bender his own parents, as a way to placate/discipline Bender. However, these parents decide that Fry is a bad influence on Bender, leading to them kicking him out. Meanwhile, the Professor’s doomsday devices are all stolen, and he has to go find them.
Both of these plots are funny and good. Bender’s plot is also really sweet what with his friendship with Fry, and his wish for parents. Meanwhile the Professor’s plot is just really funny and I do love seeing the Professor in his element. The ending is mostly heartwarming.
Best Moments: Everything with Fry and Bender, and Bender has a sweet relationship with his fake parents. Also, the Professor uses Issac Asimov candles on the robot mafia which I found a great joke. Oh, and the Professor’s first doomsday device was made when he was four years old and I love that. The end of the comic also has very nice message.
1. Rotten to the Core (Issue #27)
Tumblr media
The world’s weather has gone kerflooey, and the Professor has figured out that his invention that can drill into the center of the Earth has been used. It conspires that Bender sold it at a yard sale to some aliens call the magmoids. The magmoids are trying to steal magma from the Earth’s core and the crew has to go and stop them.
This is my favorite because it’s a great character comic. All of the main three have great moments, and it’s also a great science comic. The Earth’s core is incredibly magnetic so of course Bender starts spouting out folk songs, and also SECRETS. I can’t believe no one has used the fact that canonically magnets make Bender incapable of telling lies. Anyway, it’s just really fun.
Best Moments: Way too many to count. Bender and Fry are told to cut out the “Brokeback Moanin,’“ Leela and Fry are bitter at the end, Fry tells story about his childhood, Bender has some great secrets to tell, the Professor gets a really fun ending, Bender has a rare moment of generosity, and the entirety of the climax is all kinds of fun and sweet.
Chapter 2
Once it was over, the interviews came. We knew the story. We lived it. The case was open and shut. They could try and make us pint it all on Hotch, the easy way out, but we knew better. And we would stand next to our unit chief whatever the price.
Haley’s funeral was no easier than being at the scene. It was a somber day and the sadness was imprinted in us. We all walked with dropped shoulders and a tight chest. I stood between Derek and Reid, using Morgan as support because I felt that my legs would give out at any moment. My father stood behind me rubbing circles on my back to comfort me. As we laid the roses on top of the casket, we laid to rest the life of Haley, a woman I only knew through the loving words Hotch spoke of.
The group did not know what to do to help the heartbroken man. It would take time to heal even just the smallest bit of his heart. All we could hope for was that he would come back to the team.
At the worst possible moment, the phone rings. No other team available and someone in need, we had to go to work. We all rolled our eyes or shook our heads; this was the job. But would it be the same without him?
I went to Hotch before we left and gave him a hug.
“Call me if you guys need anything,” he said.
“Just take care of your son,” I smiled, and he softly returned one of his own. I squeezed his shoulder reassuringly and left to join the team.
On the plane, we were caught up with the case. We stored all our feelings and got the machines running. We needed to finish this quickly and perfectly.
Two women, both brunettes and young, high-powered executives, murdered in their own homes, the floor around them decorated with flower petals. After Emily and Derek visited the crime scene, we had another part of the puzzle, the unsub was stalking his victims. Everything just seemed so perfect and staged, there was no way he was not prepared.
I stayed with JJ in the station working on the announcement and trying to figure something else from the details provided and the crime scene photos, but JJ could see my head wasn’t in it completely for the first time.
“Hey,” she said, taking my attention from the piece of paper I had been eyeing for the past five minutes. “What’s on your mind? Talk to me.”
“Is it wrong that I feel bad for being here?” I sighed. “Working like nothing’s happened.”
“Of course not, we all feel a bit guilty,” she smiled. “I know you most of all.”
My eyes opened in shock.
“Oh, come on, (Y/N). Everyone knows you have a not-so-secret crush on Hotch,” she laughed. “The only one that can’t see it is him. And probably your dad. Parents can be quite oblivious to their children’s feelings in this way.”
My head flew into my hands to cover the embarrassment that was flooding my cheeks. It was one thing to assume the whole team knew, another was to have it confirmed.
“It’s okay, (Y/N), we’ll see what comes of it. What I can say is that you can’t let this stop you from doing your job.”
She smiled one last time and it was all I needed to push Aaron Hotchner to the back of my mind and bring the case forward.
“Find anything?” My father asked entering the small room at the police station, Reid following behind.
“Several people had access to each home,” I said rubbing my temple. “Housekeeper, gardener, pool cleaner, dog walker…”
“Each with their own key and an alibi to match,” JJ added, an annoyed tone rolling off her tongue.
“Any crossover?”
“None. We even vetted delivery people and utility workers.” I sighed.
“Garcia, do you have anything?” Reid said, sitting down.
“There’s no hits at the prints at all. But I did what Sir Derek there asked, and I created a paper trail,” Penny explained. “There’s no cross-over between the two victims themselves in the weeks leading up to their murders, but they did run in similar circles.”
Penelope continued to explain how both victims lived quite a lavish and high-class lifestyle as Emily and Derek joined us. We figured this man would fit right in this crowd. Educated, intelligent, a gentleman. What we had yet to pinpoint was how the unsub entered the homes with no signs of forced entry. It was clear we were not going to make any headway tonight and Derek knew it too. So, he decided we should be done for the day and we would come back tomorrow well-rested and with fresh eyes.
That night I laid in the bed of my hotel room staring at the ceiling. All I could think of was Hotch and everything he was going through. I could only imagine.
And as if by fate, my phone rang. Aaron Hotchner.
“Hello?”
“Oh,” Hotch said surprised. “Did I wake you?”
“No, I haven’t been able to sleep.”
“How come?”
“I don’t know,” I sighed. “I guess I’m just worried about you.”
He chuckled softly. “You really shouldn’t.”
“But I do, Hotch.”
He stayed silent, only his slow breathing was heard through the phone.
“Did I fail her?” He asked after some minutes of comfortable silence.
“Absolutely not.”
“I promised her that I would catch Foyet and spend the rest of my life making it up to her.”
“And you still can.”
“But” he exhaled loudly. “How?”
“By being the best father you can be to Jack and continue living your life in the best way you can.”
“You know, Dave told me that I had to figure out what kind of father I wanted to be and then I’d know what to do. But I have no idea what that is.”
“Hotch…”
“I’m serious,” he interrupted. “I don’t know what kind of father I am. I catch killers. I save lives. I’m a hero until my key hits the front door, and then I’m just the father who’s never there. Haley was raising Jack all by herself and that was my support blanket. I was able to do my job because I knew he was cared for by another parent. A better parent.”
He sobbed softly as the last words escaped his mouth.
“I’m going to stop you right there,” I said, trying my best not to sound angry. “To that little boy, you are the only real hero that exists. He knows that when you’re not home it’s because you’re out here catching the bad guys like Foyet and making the world better for his sake. He knows that everything you do is out of love for him.
You know, when I was little my dad was absent quite a lot because of this job, but there was one thing that I knew for sure, that he loved me more than anything and that he worked better and faster because he wanted to come back home to me. And never ever have I resented him for leaving and catching the bad guys. He’s the reason I became an FBI agent.
You are an amazing father and anything you choose will be the right thing for Jack.”
After a minute of sobs, Hotch started to calm down.
“Thank you, (Y/N). You have no idea how much I needed that right now,” he cleared his throat. “How’s the case going?”
“Nope,” I laughed. “Not going to talk about the case.”
“Really?” He chuckled.
“Yes, Hotch. Take a breather. You deserve it.”
“Okay, okay,” he said, and I could hear his smile through the phone.
We had been talking for about an hour when I heard him yawn.
“Seems you’re getting sleepy there, Hotchner.” I laughed. “We should both get some rest. If it’s 3 am over here it must be 2 am in Washington. So, good night and see you soon.”
“Good night, (Y/N). Again, thank you. Sweet dreams.” And he hung up.
And finally, I drifted to sleep.
The next morning, we were up and ready for business.
“We believe our unsub is already with his next victim,” my father started. “If he matches the patter, she’ll be a successful woman, probably brunette, early 30s to mid-40s. She’ll be at home in Nashville’s upper echelon.”
“This means that he fits in,” I explained. “He drives the right car, he wears the right clothes, he’s highly intelligent. He probably comes from a place of status.”
“This guy’s sociable and he’s endearing,” said Morgan. “You would never suspect that this man is capable of murder. But he will do whatever it takes to protect the fantasy that he’s trying to relive.”
“It’s this fantasy which fuels his drive. He’s reliving a romantic evening and recreating it with each of his victims.”
“He most likely had a relationship taken away from him,” Derek crossed his arms. “So, look at men who have lost loved ones or have gone through a messy divorce.”
After finishing with the profile, we set out to establishments that fit the criteria to possibly get a suspect. As we worked, we got a call. Another crime scene, but this one was different.
A male victim. Overkill on the female. Something made him change his M.O.
Out in the garage, Reid and I looked for any sort of clues and I noticed his sight direct to the car. There may be another way we could connect the victims and how the unsub made their way into their homes.
Finally, Garcia had something with the hunch Spencer had figured. She overlaid all the geographical routes the victims had taken against the geo profile to show what we were missing with any paper trail. Although it was not a clear answer, Erika Silverman was the only one that did not fit the extravagant lifestyle and she only went and came from her work or her home. Except on Tuesday, where she went to the Botanical Gardens, what was she doing there? JJ, Reid, and I left for the gardens to find out.
And just as we had suspected, there had been an event to which Erika had attended. And a puzzle piece revealed itself.
“An event up here would be a hard sell for women in heels,” JJ commented.
“Well, most of our private events hire valets to drive the cars down to the base of the park so they don’t have to hike it up the hill.”
“Who had access to your keys but goes unseen?” Reid asked.
“And to your GPS,” I added.
“Dealerships program your home address into the navigation system before your car even leaves the lot.”
“He had turn-by-turn directions straight to her front door and the keys to get him inside,” I pointed.
We now had how he got his victims and how he entered their house without force. Now, all we had to do was pinpoint his next victim and see who he was.
JJ was instructed to get dad and Prentiss to pick up the owner of the valet service used in the event, and Derek, Reid, and I stayed behind to canvass the employees. We could catch this guy in action unless he had already gotten his next victim.
Joe Belser. That was our unsub. With the profile, the owner was able to point out the suspect quickly. And off we were.
JJ, Reid, and I headed to the venue and the rest of the team went to Belser’s house. He wasn’t in the apartment, but they had found the meaning behind the roses and universal garage door openers. In the venue, Reid called Garcia to see which of the VIP guests could be the next potential victim.
Ann Herron was the next victim, and he was already at her house.
“FBI! PUT IT DOWN!” Derek screamed, blinding Joe with his flashlight. I walked in from behind Derek and kneed Belser’s stomach. He fell to the ground groaning and Emily grabbed the man by the throat to immobilize him.
“Fantasy’s over,” she spat. “Is that what you did to them? You hit them to shut them up and then forced them to play along with your sick delusion?”
 “I love them,” Joe said sinisterly.
“You’re finally gonna meet your soulmate, Joe,” I added from behind Prentiss. “In prison.”
“Only you’re not gonna be able to push him around like you did those women,” Emily continued. “And when he comes for you in the middle of the night, when you’re least expecting it, you do me a favor. Play along.”
She stood the man up forcibly and put him in handcuffs and I went outside to check on the victim.
“How is she?” Derek asked walking out of the house with my father.
“She’s strong,” I said closing the ambulance door. “She’ll make it. But you don’t survive something like that without scars.”
“Scars remind us where we’ve been,” my father commented. “They don’t have to dictate where we’re going.”
He put his arm around my shoulders and kissed my head as we walked back to the SUVs, finally on our way home.
The next day, I called up my dad so he would accompany me to Haley’s grave. Something told me I had to go. At the cemetery, I saw what the pull was. Sitting in front of the headstone less grave was Hotch. I walked up to him first, my father close behind. Hotch lifted his head and stared into my eyes, sitting up slightly.
“I had a feeling I’d find you here,” I spoke softly. “Have you told her yet?”
“Told her what?” He mused.
“That you’re coming back to the team,” my father joined his left side. Hotch looked at him. “That fighting the bad guys is who you are.”
Hotch lowered his head and shook it. “I don’t have to tell her. She already knows.”
I squeezed his shoulder reassuringly and gave him a soft smile. My father did the same and walked to my side, so we’d retreat, giving Hotch some space.
“So, do you want me to drive you back to your house?” My father asked.
“No,” I smiled. “I’m gonna stay with Hotch for a bit and then I’ll go home.”
“Okay, darling.” He kisses the top of my head. “I’ll pick you up on Monday then. Ciao, Mia Bella.”
“Bye, dad.”
Once my dad left, I sat down on a bench and waited for Hotch.
“(Y/N), you’re still here?” Hotch questioned with a smile on his face.
“Yeah, thought you might want some company.”
“Truthfully,” he chuckled. “I do. Thank you.”
“How about this, we pick up Jack, you guys come over and I crack open a present I had for Jack.”
“Sounds like a plan,” he motioned me to his car. “Let’s go.”
We drove quietly to his apartment, only the low volume of the radio and the sound of our breathing could be heard. It didn’t take long to arrive at the complex, where he opened the car door for me and led me upstairs. Inside apartment #121, was Jessica Brooks, Haley’s sister, and Jack playing a card game.
“(Y/N)!” Jack screamed as soon as I walked through the door, running to give me a hug.
“Hey, buddy!” I hugged back.
“Hotch, you’re back,” she exclaimed. “Good to see you again, (Y/N).”
“Good to see you, too,” I smiled. “How you holding up?”
“As good as I can be.” She answered as she began to gather her things. “Well, I’ll see you soon. Bye, little guy.”
“Bye, Aunt Jessica.”
“Bye, guys.” She said as she left.
“Hey, little man,” I directed to Jack. “I’ve got an idea.”
“What is it?”
“How about you to pack a go-bag and you and dad come over so we can open a present I have for you?”
“Yes!” He exclaimed as he sped off to his room to pack.
“I think you should go help him,” I smiled at Hotch. “If I have any memory of being a kid, they’re not very good at packing.”
“Yeah,” he grinned. “Maybe I should.”
I waited for both father and son to pack for the night asking myself why I was putting myself in this position. Growing closer to a man I had a 0% chance with. But I couldn’t help it. All in all, he was my friend, and he needed all the support he could get.
THINGS I LOVE ABOUT:
Sweater Weather, by @lumosinlove
... and other related works.
SPOILER FREE
Short(er) Remus Rights. One of the big things I dislike about a lot of people within any fandom is how much they can sometimes gatekeep different interpretations of characters. Remus and Sirius get a lot of this - there are interpretations of their characters that the majority of the fandom has decided to agree on, and anything outside of that is somehow wrong. For me, Remus is the hardest, because my interpretation is at times the exact opposite of what the fandom seems to have agreed on. I won't go into too much detail here, but one of my points is that I imagine Remus as shorter and smaller than Sirius. A lot of people will come for your next if you don't think that Remus is like seven feet tall or something ridiculous. Overall, Hazel's Remus has always lined up a lot with my interpretation of him. It's just nice to see Remus written and described in a way that I also imagine him in my head. (I may make another post explaining myself more in depth on this one...)
Use of French, and Hockey Accuracy. When reading Sweater Weather, I would be constantly translating the French that is used by multiple characters in the story, and was pleasantly surprised to find that the use of the language seemed to be a lot more accurate and genuine than a simple google translate plug (which... No hate, I've been there.) It made me wonder if Hazel actually knows French? At least a little? Also the descriptions of Hockey both on and off the ice feel really real and accurate, especially after I finished the story and started to look more into Hockey (because I'm probably on my way to becoming a Hockey fan now) and was ecstatic to find a lot of the things being discussed in the story also being discussed in real hockey clips and videos. This is most likely due to Hazel being a Hockey fan and actually understanding the sport instead of just fudging it. (Which again, I would be guilty of.)
Healthy Polyamorous Relationship(s). I have very rarely read anything with a polyamorous relationship. Period. But when I do I have that awful monogomous-normative voice in the back of my head that tells me which two are "actually in love" and which one is "the third wheel" and I definitely don't have that awful voice regarding the real life polyamorous relationships I've seen. Hazel does a wonderful job at developing every interpersonal relationship with O'Knutzy as well as how they all work together. (And O'Darwin is new to me, but I already love it so, so much)
Varying Relationship Lengths. There are relationships of varying shapes and sizes. Some take years to say "I love you" while others are engaged less than two years after getting together. I think it's easy to forget nowadays that you don't need to be dating for years before getting married and starting a family - and it doesn't need to be in that order.
That Hurt/Comfort tho. Hurt/Comfort is may favorite genre perhaps ever. And in Hockey there is a lot of hurt, so it makes sense to be followed up by a lot of comfort. It's perfect. *chef's kiss*
Feeling Things With The Characters. In almost every scene I could feel how each character felt and kind of get a sense of what's going on in their heads. There were times in these works where I could really feel that longing or loneliness or pain or sadness. I don't get to feel that intensely that often when reading fanfiction, and these fics make me feel all the things.
These are just a few of the broader themes I enjoyed while reading Sweater Weather.
SPOILERS AHEAD
TOP FIVE FAVORITE SCENES:
The All Stars Game (AKA all of Chapter 15) I loved this chapter, because it captures the entire arc of the pain Remus and Sirius feel after being outed, the steps they take to actually talk about it and talk to eachother again and get through it together, to once again being on the same page, and rooting for and protecting eachother more fiercely than ever. I loved the team members coming over to be with Remus and watch the game, I loved Remus's past coming to light, I loved Sirius punching Greyback in the face, Regulus being rescued. I even loved hearing the terrible things the press had to say, because I love that kind of drama it gets me so worked up (... In works of fiction. In real life that stuff would make me very, very angry.)
Remus Talking to Logan (Chapter 13) I love this scene because it really shows basically every side of the O'Knutzy drama, and because I could really feel Logan's pain and panic in this scene. I loved how soft and kind Remus was in trying to talk to Logan about it, at the same time trying to keep him calm. I loved Finn walking in and seeing that Logan was hurting and immediately wanting to fix it, nearly ready to fight Remus, who was getting in his way. And I love the final part, where Remus suggests Logan tell 'them' he loves them, all the while promising himself he would tell Sirius the same thing. I think this scene is the perfect crossover point between Coast to Coast and Sweater Weather, and progresses both storylines flawlessly.
Family Skate (Chapter 12) I think it's hat I liked most about this scene was the Team learning not only that Remus used to play, but just how good he was, and still is. I loved how shocked they are, and the foreshadowing when Arthur asks Remus if he has any tapes. I really like the somber tone around Remus's injury, and how tragic it is, and the team can really understand that. It also sets the time for just how much this injury is affecting Remus even to this day. Aside from all that serious stuff, seeing the Team with little kids is also super cute. And James finding out about the necklace.
The Game Against Vegas (Chapter 16) I liked this scene a lot because you can really feel how much the team wants to avenge Remus. I liked the tense interactions between Remus and Greyback, especially the part where Remus said "you're not my teammate". One of my favorite moments is at the end of this chapter when Remus is spiraling in a gas station parking lot, and all of his old superstitions are coming back to him. The Angst Levels are astronomical.
Leo and Finn Like Eachother (Coast to Coast, Chapter 4) I honestly loved this scene so much, the emotional roller coaster Leo went through, the hesitance surrounding the whole "all three of us" question. The pain Leo feels when he thinks the kiss was only out of confusion, and that Finn only loved Logan. The relief he feels when Finn says he likes him. It's just a master piece. (Honorable mention for when all three of them get together in the next chapter: it was such a close tie.)
All in all, Sweater Weather is such a good read, and I love that I'm still immersed even after I've read the fic so many times. I'm going to keep following Vaincre, and I have a lot of ficlets planned out for this universe, coming soon.
Lots of love and praise to Hazel, who wrote not only such a good story, but wonderful characters (both Harry Potter, and original) as well.
Are you alive? a friend who’s known me since high school texted me a week ago. It was a fair question.
The last two-three months I’d gradually stopped using various social media platforms and messenger apps -- which is actually kind of impressive when you consider that being active on social media is part of my job but turns out if you try hard enough you really can accomplish surprising things. I’d stopped replying to texts and keeping track of group chats. I’d fallen out of communication with everyone I didn’t interact with at work or at home and since I work from home currently that’s very short list.
It wasn’t a deliberate move on my part. I hadn’t decided to stop being on social media or Whatsapp or any other messenger service. I hadn’t even consciously thought about what I was doing.
All that really registered on my end was that work was a hell of a lot stressful and that the thought of opening one of those apps, of having to reply to messages and keep up with everything happening in my social circles was exhausting and I lacked both the time and more importantly the energy for it.
And the very much not funny part? When my friend texted me, when I realized that I’d been gone for months at this point and that my friends, hell, even my sports instructor had noticed, that they were getting concerned over my radio silence -- that didn’t make me feel good or valued.
It made me feel guilty for putting them through that. It made the thought of having to open those apps, of having to reply to all those ‘Are you alright?’ messages even harder and all the more terrifying.
[continues under the cut]
I ended up drawing my “return” out for another week before I finally gathered up the courage to just get it over with. So I did. I wrote all those awkward messages about what was going on in my life and how I just felt exhausted all the time and wasn’t in the mental state to be on these various apps and I apologized for dropping out of contact and worrying them. And to be honest the response was amazing. My friends were understanding and encouraging, one assured me that if she’d been seriously worried she would have texted or called, three others told me to take all the time off whichever media I needed to take care of myself.
And it made me realize a couple of things:
1. This whole idea that we always have to respond to a message immediately, that we can’t put it aside when it’s not actually that important (no matter how hilarious the GIF may be) that because being “online” means being able to reach people all over the world at all times doesn’t mean we have to be present 24/7. In fact holding ourselves to that standard can be incredibly harmful because as much as I love the online communities and everything these platforms and services enable us to do -- it’s just not realistic for them to be our only or even our top priority all the time.
And it’s so easy to build up this idea in your head of all those expectations other people have and how you’re disappointing and failing them but just because that’s what my fears and my bad conscience is telling me doesn’t make it true. And it doesn’t mean I’m not allowed to slip or to make a mistake, it doesn’t mean others aren’t going to understand once I explain it to them.
2. I want to create better habits for how I use these communication tools and apps. Not because I have to or because I owe it to anyone but because my current habits make me feel guilty and bad about myself and I don’t want that. I want to feel confident in how I spend my time and navigate the different aspects of my life and online platforms are a part of it.
Right now there are a lot of outside factors that I only have limited control over that influence how much free time I have and where I spend it. So since I can’t realistically make plan for when I will use which platforms at the moment, I’ve decided instead to improve my communication. When it gets to much, when I have to pull back to take care of myself and just cannot be on any of these services and platforms, I want my friends to know that so they don’t worry and know through which channels they should contact me if they really need to.
I’m not expecting a miracle here, but I’m working on it and I hope it will pay off the next time I pull a full on social-anythings black-out. Because there will be a next time.
3. Having these awkward but very necessary conversations in my offline life made me realize that it’s been even longer (far longer actually) since I’ve been active here on Tumblr. So, while it’s already been over half a year or something and I’m not even sure if anyone reads these updates anymore, for anyone who is interested or concerned, I wanted to let you know where I’m currently at and what you can expect from this blog (and my other blogs on this site) in the nearby future.
Here it goes: Fandom is an important part of my life. This -- and my continuous love for Tony Stark -- is why I continue to come back to this blog at random intervals.
During the last year of my life I’ve written a master thesis, which was then followed by starting to work full-time. The sad truth is, I currently don’t have the time I used to have to invest into this blog and I have huge respect for all the other amazing people in this fandom who have a better work/life/fandom balance than I do.
I miss this platform -- okay, no, I mostly miss the wonderful people and the great interactions I’ve had with so many individuals on here. I miss it a lot. Which is why I’m going through something of a “trial run” in the coming month.
In March 2021, I’m going to work less hours and thus have more time to be social (while maintaining a cool, physical distance, #thanksCovid19) and more importantly creative. Which is what I’m going to be this March. I can’t tell you yet what this will mean for this blog.
As of today (28th of February) I’m not sure if MCU can be my main focus since I’m planning to finally finish my KHR project and hopefully continue my GoT/HP crossover and one SNP fic as well. But I don’t want to stress out about that right now. This weekend was the first weekend I got into writing again since early January and I’m planning to enjoy it.
So I’m planning to be more active again here during March and see what kind of pace and content I can reasonably manage and feel inspired to create. At the end of the month, I’m going to give you all another update (what can I say, I just love updates) and decide where to go from there.
This has been one hell of a ramble post so kudos to anyone who made it to the very end of it. I hope you are doing well, I hope we’ll continue to see each other on this blog in the coming weeks and I hope if there’s anything you take away from this post it is this:
You are not obligated to be available 24/7 on any site or platform you use. Please take care of yourself and put your mental health first and the social convention of replying to a message second. (And maybe let them know that you’re doing alright or that you’re not doing alright once you are ready and in the right mindset for it, but that’s a bonus question, not a mandatory duty.)
Uh, is there still an angst break? Ignore this ask until your ready if so 👉😎👉
What was the au where Jekylls pushed down the stairs and experiences a skull crackening again? Oh well but I've been thinking of a branch of that where Jekyll doesn't know hes dead like all day. I also cant remember if that was already discussed or not
The lodgers patch him up, he complains of a headache, and goes on his merry way! He's confused why all the lodgers are so nervous and being nice to him all of the sudden, why creature is looking at him with a stange mix of empathy and pity. He was told he fell down the stairs, fell unconscious, and obtained a bit of an injury. He cant fathom why Frankenstein is "The only doctor who can treat him" why he has to constantly go to her for checkups. Why Maijabi is suddenly following him practically everywhere.
Hyde squeezes back control for a moment and tries the potion but it doesn't work. Maybe a bit of pain but certainly no transformation. Jekyll assumes his injury or whatever medication they're giving him to treat it somehow negated the effects
Jekyll complains about "suddenly blacking out" the lodgers know its because his soul is slippery. They tell him it must just be a side effect of the injury and not to worry
How long can they keep it secret from him? When does he find out? Does he? Does it get to be years only for him to realize that he hasn't aged? That he still needs checkups from Frankenstein? Does he learn sooner? Does a lodger crack and say it? Does he rot? Does he notice how so very cold he is. How animals act around him? It's all very interesting,,
-
I actually did think a bit of Jekyll's kidnappers for the amnesia kidnapping au! When drawing that lil sketch of Henry and O'Leary meeting Robert I had considered making it so O'Leary was suspicious of Lanyon like "Oh theres no news anywhere of someone matching Thomas' description who's missing. But some random people walk up claiming to know him? Begging to take him back with them?" And he'd think they were the kidnappers. But ultimately I decided against it as I felt Lanyon and Rachel were pretty clearly, genuinely concerned for "Thomas" :p
I tried playing assassins creed once, the first(?) one. But the controls were confusing and everything was sorta thrown all at me at once, and I got bored of it quickly
But! I went to the store the other day and just so happened to notice Syndicate was being sold for 15 dollars 👀 So I bought it because funky Victorian assassins and your influence! It's a bit less confusing then the first ac game I tried but why is going down or dropping so hard bdksnks. I'm having quite a bit of fun! If you dont count my rage and annoyance-, the B button refuses to cooperate with me unless I'm looting corpses >:(
The b button being the bane of my existence aside, I AM having fun! I like the funky outfits and I want to play as the girl twin (evie?) forever because her clothes are good and shes better at attacking than jacob(?) For some reason. Probably the stun her weapon has? Oh well! I have not unlocked any new outfits yet, nonetheless I wish there were more.
Also! I was thimking, and my current quests are taking place at 1868? Did I get that right? And Jekyll is like 35 in 1885. So in game he'd be 18! An au like I believe you mentioned sounds very interesting 👀 but I must play more to know what's going on and daydream about it
That would be the resurrection au <3
But god, I really like that branch! Especially combined with the hc that he can't feel pain bc the HJ7 and the transformations made him immune. Frankenstein patched him up and made fleshweaver to heal the crack in his skull but it still has to be bandaged, he surely broke a few bones, yet all he has to do is to be careful because it doesn't even hurt. He doesn't even realize how severe the injuries are because it doesn't hurt, it very well might just have been that he accidentally slipped at the bottom of the staircase and accidentally hit his head on the railing during his fall, rather than getting physically pushed and flying down the stairs, shattering his skull upon impact with the marble floor. Y'know what would be extra fun? If he only starts getting a bit suspicious about how severe the injury was once he realizes his lungs stop breathing for minutes at a time when he gets distracted, or his heartbeat stops dead in his chest. I know that that's not how biology or even creature works but lets say the HJ7 is funky, Zombie Jekyll my beloved. Perhaps he would only fully grasp what had happened once he blacked out too much and 'passed out', but his soul slipped out enough to leave his body unconscious on the floor while his soul/ghost was just... Watching. And it's not until Maijabi (who, as you said, follows him everywhere) immediately calls for more Lodgers saying that Henry's soul is getting unstable and Frankenstein's lousy job is starting to shine through that he fully understands that it was not a mere hit to the head. Or maybe it is when days, weeks, maybe months has passed and the headache never goes away, he only feels how his body starts feeling so much more... Fragile and delicate, that the guilt has eaten Helsby up alive and he corners him and spills everything, knowing he is going directly against what the group agreed to but not being able to keep it a secret much longer-- or maybe Creature would tell him immediately, once Henry is, for once, alone perhaps days after the initial accident. He cannot see Henry struggle to understand what is going on when he already knows what's happening to Henry, his mind, and his body. He doesn't listen to the plan that Frankenstein and the Lodgers has set up and immediately tells Henry the first moment they are alone. That would certainly be horrifying, I can only imagine how the Lodgers would find Henry after that, once he actually knows and manages to process everything. He would be so mad, not only to have been killed in the first place, but also because he was robbed of an afterlife because the Lodgers were selfish and could not accept the consequences of their actions. He would be mad, he would be so pissed and I have no doubt he might actually be mad at Maijabi too for even agreeing to help Frankenstein and the rest of the Lodgers. That anger would not stay long, though. That anger would soon turn into misery and sadness and paranoia so even as Henry has tried to push Maijabi away, Henry still ends up on his doorstep begging him to help him make sure he is not rotting, because no matter what anyone says, he is sure he can see rotten spots and patches on his skin and he is just so scared and jdhfjsdfdsfsfs... <3
Ooooooohhh, I was actually daydreaming about this just this morning! Granted, I woke up at 5 and began to daydream to fall asleep quicker but I still like the thought of O'Leary being suspicious of Robert/Rachel/Jasper/the Lodgers bc he is protective of 'Thomas' and doesn't want anything bad to happen to him and especially with the idea that Henry still has hallucinations and they both think he was abandoned by his family, left to rot at a mental asylum. O'Leary might very well think that it might be Henry's friends and family that dumped him that Henry had 'escaped' the hospital and that's why they knew he was missing since the Asylum itself obviously wouldn't have posted the news... I really liked Jeks idea, okay? Like a lot, I absolutely love it <3
Oh, the oldest AC game I played was Unity bc it was free after the Notre Dame fire, and I can confirm, I played 15 min and could not get through it even if i would have wanted to, it absolutely sucks so i have no doubt the older games are just as frustrating <3
BUT!!!! I'M SO GLAD MY CORRUPTION IS SPREADING AND YOU BOUGHT AND PLAYED IT AND ARE ENJOYING IT SO FAR!!! Trust me, Syndicate truly is an absolutely amazing game and is definitely one of my top 3 games of all time. I sometimes play it w my friend watching me play and trust me, I know that rage of trying to do smt but the character does smt else... or you try to do smt but the game doesn't react and you miss your chance... Oh well, still a wonderful game <3
My friend loves to play as Evie as well but I'm definitely playing Jacob every chance I get and I honestly get a lil pissy when I have to play as Evie bc I always prefer to play male characters, plus, I just like Jacob better bc he is a sweetheart. He is also canonically bisexual as hell!!! Have you met Abberline yet? The police officer? Him and Jacob together is one of my fave ships for the game. I also bought the ultimate/golden/whatever name it was edition so I had a bunch of extra outfits, I love the sherlock holmes outfit for Jacob but my friend keeps bullying me for it </3
Honestly? The time difference is the bane of my entire idea for the au bc if it's during their time Henry hasn't even graduated yet, and definitely not well-known enough for them to actively meet for whatever reason, and if you use the timeline for the jack the ripper dlc (in 1888) a lot of... Less than pleasant things happen so it wouldn't really make a lot of sense for a crossover to happen at that point but maybe it's just bc im a pussy and refuse to play the dlc. Rn, while imagining the au, I just imagine the 1868 timeline to be the same as the TGS timeline. I like to imagine the Frye Twins hearing about Henry and the Society and promptly breaking into his office to ask him to make poison and stuff for them. I also have a feeling that Jacob would flirt wildly with Henry and that Henry would be less-than-amused. It would also be a very fun thing with the fact that there would be two Henrys, with TGS Henry Jekyll and AC Syndicate Henry Green, soo... XD
OOH also we're doing goldfinchnatural tonight what are your thoughts on goldfinchnatural
i think if dean was willing to read the goldfinch it would make him insane. or he'd just completely miss all of the subtext and be like that was boring as shit sam why did you make me read it. sam read it when it came out which i've already posted abt before i think he got the subtext and liked it but didnt obsess over it.... theo would hate spn as a show i think (hes just not into that sort of power fantasy and he would absolutely not be willing to watch it for homoeroticism reasons) boris would think it was fun. pippa had a superwholock phase in high school ive decided. not like wore shirts in public but like had a tumblr and posted about it type phase.
if we're talking crossover. i got very thorough and made tables which i will now turn into paragraphs so here goes.
if we're talking about adult theo dean would microaggress him if it's kid theo dean would immediately be like Parent Mode Hey Kiddo Ya Know I Lost My Mom Too, It's Not Your Fault, Sometimes Shit Just Happens And It sucks. adult theo would think dean was an animal, kid theo would be ticked off by being babied. sam would like. pity grimace at theo. he’s had years of practice w dean’s I Don't Feel Anything Shut Up shit but like. knowing there's two of them and that they're still so sad in radically different ways would make him just really sad? theo would respect sam. cas would get on fine with theo. he's just sort of some guy to xem. theo would think cas was impolite for missing social intricacies or being blunt which makes me sad. but it's what i think. jack wouldn’t get why theo acts like he does, sort of how he doesnt get why dean is so repressed. he just doesn't clench up around themselves the way theo and dean do. theo would find jack exhausting.
dean would either think boris was shady as hell or think he was just. SO cool. If we're talking kid boris dean would maybe try the hey kiddo thing but it'd be kinda like ben where he has to switch to a more frank approach because boris is so determined not to be delicate (and let's be honest he's pretended long enough it's become true). adult boris would think dean was a delight. he'd probably say something catty to theo about dean being his new best friend. sam would think boris was shady as hell!! no trust whatsoever immediately like Dean This Guy Is Bad News. boris would think sam was boooooringggggg but if he found out about either of the hot girl summers he'd be OBSESSED and pester him like what did demon blood feel like do you think i could try some would it kill me? all men who are not dean (and i guess sam) are just some guy to cas this is very boring. boris would think cas was funny in a wind up toy sort of  :/ jack would be freaked out by boris bc boris just unabashedly does shit jack has been taught is Wrong And Bad. boris would be suspicious of jack. too nice he must be up to something no one's just that nice because they're nice.
dean would be nice to pippa but idk if she'd stand out to him as anything other than another civilian until she mentioned she'd read the books (which. idk im not super attached to that idea bc it makes it hard to navigate how they'd interact) which like usual would freak him out a lot. unless its kid pippa in which case once again Hey Kiddo How's It Going Mode would be engaged. adult pippa would pity dean. books or not she just feels bad for him. sam and pippa would be very quickly like Hello Fellow Intellectual they'd talk about music and books and basically all the shit dean won't talk to sam about also i think if they talked long enough they'd end up talking about theo/dean and being like it just sucks he hates himself too much to just let himself be happy huh. if she's read the books she'd be respectful of their privacy and maybe assume that lots of it was dramatization… like just put distance between them and the characters she read about when she was a teenager. i think cas and pippa would get along pretty well. cas deserves some non winchester/winchester circle friends. idk what they'd talk about but i think they'd have a nice time. i think she'd be great with jack. i don't have much else to say i just think she's good with kids and more broadly good with people but it's hard to really know through the theo lens.
