Ninth Circuit Reverses Class Certification Order Because Liability Issues, Not Merely Damages, Were Individualized
Ninth Circuit Reverses Class Certification Order Because Liability Issues, Not Merely Damages, Were Individualized
The Ninth Circuit recently addressed an issue that tends to arise frequently in class certification motion practice: how trial courts should apply the predominance requirement where appellate decisions have said that the need to calculate individualized damages generally is not sufficient on its own to defeat class certification, but some putative class members likely have no damages. On these…

My Hero Academia: CPR + BLS
You know, Pro-Hero is probably one of those professions where it's mandatory to know CPR and Basic Life Support. Because after the villain's been taken out or all the people have been evacuated from a disaster zone, the Pros and their sidekicks are definitely the first responders until the paramedics arrive on scene.
And the idea that Aizawa, Endeavor, Mirko, Best Jeanist, Hawks, Ryukyu, everyone has to re-certify every two years is really, really hilarious to me. It's just so absurdly mundane.
If your job doesn't require CPR certification, let me break this down for you: You sit for two hours give or take, watch a video that's you've probably seen before, maybe take a brief test, and demonstrate that you can in fact perform CPR on a mannequin as well show you can use an AED kit and maybe demonstrate the Heimlich maneuver, and then you wait for an email that has your certification cards. It's tedious and the information doesn't change very much, but it is essential to review, so you suck it up and you be as diligent as you can because there could absolutely come a day where you will be in an emergency situation and need to use these skills. Nonetheless, you really just want to get on with the written and practical tests and get out of there.
That said...Hawks is definitely an annoying prick who keeps asking questions just to purposefully draw out the session.
Kaminari would probably bring snacks, suddenly start choking, and become the unwitting live demonstration.
Iida studied beforehand, took notes throughout, and then got way too into the practical exam. (Because you are often acting out a simulation to prove you are adhering to proper safety measures.)
Mineta...can he even...?

Something I cannot recommend enough: picking up a random skill/knowledge just because
Learn to use chopsticks.
Get your weird retro friend to teach you to drive stick.
Take a class in crystallography.
Download Duolingo just to learn Klingon.
Figure out how to contact juggle with fruit.
Maybe it comes in useful. Maybe it’s a fun party trick. Maybe it keeps the depression at bay just a little longer because it’s something to do.
Get out there and go learn something!

see, the problem of being a non-native speaker is that, even if i know the language, i can't tell if something is wrong unless i really focus on catching my mistakes
for example, i had "writes IN ao3", instead of "writes ON ao3" on my blog for almost a YEAR, and i KNOW what the correct preposition is, it's just that it doesnt sound wrong to me unless i think about it

How would I go about learning about computer programming? Any advice for absolute beginners?
hm… well, i guess there's two primary ways you can start.
firstly, you could take a course. there are some online that are free to start with, like harvard's cs50, but i personally think the second option is a bit more fun and hands on.
Tumblr media
the second option is to take some time to look up coding basics and experiment a bit through a small personal project. you can learn about the basic structure of computer programs and how programming languages work by watching youtube videos, or browsing stack overflow... and from there you can start small by making little programs that can do simple things. after that, it'll be a good foundation into coding more complex things.
Tumblr media
good luck.

Need to rant...
One of my profs had a freakout, and she took some things wrong (miscommunication). Now she's being such a pain... I might need to go to school early on a day when we're supposed to be online... 😫
I wanna die, because commuting isn't easy or simple or whatever. But I'm walking on eggshells when it comes to that prof, so I'm shutting up, while my anxiety spikes everytime she sends something.
Also, she expects us to bring stuff like RIGHT AWAY. She couldn't just inform ahead? 😫

my mom found this super detailed online test that helps you find careers that you'd probably like according to your answers (ofc we know that it's just a test and it doesn't mean you have to study what they give you, but i just can't find anything that i like and i'm running out of time, so we were like, why not yk) so, i took the test and after 30 minutes of answering questions you know what i got? biotechnology. the same career that i chose last year and the one i dropped out of in january.
idk if i want to laugh or cry tbh
#i mean it gives you more than one option but this was the one with more compatibility#and the other ones are also a big no for me so...#god idk what to do with my life#and atp i can't help but start thinking (again): did i drop out bc i didn't like the career or bc my mental health is SO bad#i think it's a combination of the the two bc yeah i probably would've enjoyed the few months i did at least a bit more if i wasn't depresse#but i REALLY didn't like it#tho then again i don't know what changed bc it WAS what i wanted and then i got there and i went NOPE almost immediately#and like i know your opinions can change and that is good that i dropped out if i realized that's not my thing#but i can't help but wonder if it is really not my thing or is my brain just not letting me enjoy the things i like?#bc every option i've been looking at to start next year is like... No#i can't find anything i think i might enjoy at least a little bit#i found this university that i gives you the possibility of doing the classes and exams online and everything#and that would be to study 'translation and interpretation' with english & french (& spanish ofc)#and since i'm already bilingual in english & i've a certificate in french (not bilingual but is smth) i would be able to skip some subjects#which is good i guess and i like languages but it's also like the opposite of what i've been doing my whole life bc i studied science in hs#and then again idk if i'll like it or not#and i know i won't know if i like it or not until i try it out and everyone is like 'well if it's not your thing then you drop out again'#which i mean is true i Can but god i don't want to go through all this again i need at least a bit of certainity or i'm gonna go insane#also i've been searching for so long w/o findinf anything that my parents are already saying#'well if you don't want to study you'll have to look for a job'#and if the thought of studying a carreer is already scary#if i have to look for a job rn (there are not many options here if you don't have a degree)......#the thought itself makes me sick :/#i just don't know what to do and i'm so fucking tired i just want to curl up in bed and not do anything for at least 2 months#(am i having another existential crisis after that panic attack 3 days ago or did the existential crisis not stop since january?)#(probably sooner)#(i guess we'll never know........)#venting#maca speaks

How to get into Coding!
Coding is very important now and in the future. Technology relies on coding and in the future you will need to know how to code to get a high-paying job. Many people consider having Computer Science field-related jobs, especially in AI. What if you are interested it in general or as a hobby? What if you don't know what you want to do yet for college?
Pick a language you want to learn: Personally, I started out with HTML and CSS. I recommend if you want to do web design HTML and CSS are good languages to start with. Otherwise, start with JavaScript or Python.
2. Find Resources: Basically you want to look at videos on YouTube, and take classes that have coding like AP CSP, AP CS A (harder class), Digital Information Technology, etc. You can also attend classes outside in the summer like CodeNinjas and use websites like code.org, freeCodeCamp, and Codecademy. Also, ask your friends for help too! You can find communities on Reddit and Discord as well.
3. Start Practicing: Practice slowly by doing small projects like making games for websites and apps. You can work with friends if you are still a beginner or need help. There's also open-source coding you can do!
4. Continue coding: If you don't continue, you will lose your skills. Be sure to always look up news on coding and different coding languages.
5. Certifications: If you are advanced in coding or want to learn more about technology, you can do certifications. This can cost a lot of money depending on what certification you are doing. Some school districts pay for your certification test. But if you take the test and pass, you can put it on your resume, and job recruiters/interviewers will be impressed! This can help with college applications and show initiative if you want a computer science degree. This shows you are a "master" of the language.
