Imagine if chronically ill people could get away with being as bitchy as temporarily sick people do when they don't feel well
I jhave been in progressively worsening pain since I was 8. And I don't mean, I got aches and pains every now and then and they got worse. I mean that I was 8 old the last time that I wasn't in pain. If I act shitty when I am in agony, I'm an asshole
My mam has a cold and she has not said a single sentence to me in the last 3 days that wasn't making fun of me, insulting me, screaming at me for shit I didn't even do or just throwing a tantrum at me for existing. When my dad asked why I was staying in my room, I told him that mams in a mood and I don't have the head space to deal with it. But apparently that makes me the asshole because she's not feeling well (I literally have to put my hand in my mouth every time that I stand up so that I don't cry with pain, and have dislocated over a dozen joints in the last 24 hours, but OK?)

what about cg husk or angel with a little who has a chronic illness or is disabled?
Back to our regularly scheduled content! I can indeed write this for you! Thank you for this request I’ve just came out of a massive flare up myself!
Cg!Huskerdust, spoonie!regressor!reader headcanons!
Tumblr media
A/N: I personally have cfs and chronic pains so that’s how I’ll be writing this reader…it may be slightly self indulgent
🕸️🪄 All separate Cg!Husk and Cg!Angel headcanons apply to this as well!
🕸️🪄The two are very careful with how you use up your energy you use up in a day and what it’s used on
🕸️🪄They know how fussy you can get when tired but won’t take a nap
🕸️🪄If it’s a super bad pain day they’re happy to take turns cuddling you in bed all day and taking you to the bathroom (or changing you if needs be)
🕸️🪄Angel decides it’s a good idea to get a pain chart for you! Just one to have on you so you can tell them how your feeling
🕸️🪄Husk makes a sticker chart for you, putting a sticker on each time you overcome something you thought you couldn’t due to pain or fatigue levels that day
🕸️🪄If you’ve got chronic migraines then the two will happily leave you alone while you rest up
🕸️🪄They make sure you’re snug as a bug in a rug with the lights down low and as little noise as possible
🕸️🪄Husk keeps watch of your door incase you come looking for him or just to shush people who are being too loud
🕸️🪄If you get all fussy and whiney because of all the big feelings you’re feeling they’ll have a different reaction than they usually do
🕸️🪄You won’t be put in time out or have a frowny face on your sticker chart no no. They know it’s not your fault baby.
🕸️🪄You’re comforted and calmed the whole time till you’ve stopped fussing
🕸️🪄In my personal experience I’ve found that weighted plushies (Derek I love you) help when I’m in a lot of pain so they’ll have plenty on hand for you
🕸️🪄These two will do whatever you want them to. As long as you’re happy, they’re happy.

One thing that makes dating difficult when having a severe disability is the lack of privacy. It’s hard trying to remain private when you have to rely on caregivers for EVERYTHING. And many caregivers treat disabled adults like children and can be extremely judgmental especially when the disabled adults are also apart of the LGBT.

LMK characters I’ve given chronic illness to
in order of plausibility
disclaimer: I have chronic illnesses (yes there are probably more than one) and am projecting
Ao Lie gets chronic pain after the samhadi fire incident
Mei also has similar pains throughout her life that she assumes is normal and after she inherits the fire it becomes much worse
Tang has constant health issues and can’t reasonably work long shifts so he’s on governmental disability aid.
Macaque is constantly feeling bad somewhere due to being undead. Wether that be a constant aching in his muscles or feeling unable to breathe after physical activity. He’s good at hiding it tho.
Sun Wukongs body is messed up from a lot of different things but when others notice his joints popping or him having to sit down due to pain he shrugs it off usually making a joke about his “old man bones” not being “how they used to be”
MK has serious brain fog and struggles with fine motor skills under stress. (This doesn’t really count but I’m including it anyway)

In doing literally *anything*, you have to build in accessibility from the start, and to decide to value *not excluding people who need accessibility* or you’re going to decide that accessibility is “too expensive” and “doesn’t add enough value” for cost.
You have to build it in from the start, when looking at facilities. Allocating tech. Assigning budget. Recruiting staff, if what you’re doing involves that, paid or volunteer.
If you don’t, you will not, in fact, be accessible. You will, at best, salve your conscience and make what you’re doing *possible* for a *few* disabled people. Not “easy”, not “on the same level as abled people”, but “possible”. They will still be paying a price abled people will not, and it may well be devastating. Thus, the people able to soak that cost to show up, attend, take part, contribute etc etc, are likely to be the least-marginalised disabled people there are; not only in terms of their disability, but on an intersectional level.
This applies everywhere. Housing. Education. Employment. Community.

Idk if I’ve actually told tumblr/my mutuals about this, but during my year+ long absence, some fuckshit happened and now I’m on a feeding tube pump every day.
Apparently it’s not normal to violently vomit, shit yourself, and have excruciating abdominal pain any time you eat/swallow anything (even just like… an ibuprofen and a gulp of water…)
BUT I’m super happy rn because I was just accepted into a really good Palliative Care clinic :)

Have anyone else ever been doing the most mundane thing ever and then suddenly the most horrific urge to throw up comes over you with a weird ass pain in your back? No? Is it a personal thing or?

Just a transparent post about my disability and the effect it has on my mental health. I’m trying to stay strong and push through. This is just a reminder to people (especially the disability community) that you don’t have to remain positive all the time.

What are some good books to read if you struggle with reading / concentration due to fibromyalgia? I want to read so bad and can read fanfics but want to read actual books so I can become a better writer and more knowledgeable in fiction and non fiction
this is something i struggle with, too. i read (and write) fic, but both make me sleepy and it's difficult to concentrate depending on how bad my brain fog is. as such, i really haven't read much since college. the ones i find easiest to read are ones that really suck me in, which is gonna be different for everyone just based on what you're into. below are the ones i can think of at the moment (and i really do want to start reading more). i think it's also important to just be gentle with yourself. if you need to take a break and only read a bit at a time or even if it takes ages to finish a book, that's okay! chronic illness fucking sucks!
tender is the flesh - agustina bazterrica
verity - colleen hoover (the only book of hers i've read, don't come for me lmao)
four past midnight - stephen king
11/22/63 - stephen king
kira-kira - cynthia kadohata (i first read this in middle school i think, but it's literally so good and so powerful and remains one of my favorite books of all time)
paper towns - john green
the fault in our stars - john green
will grayson will grayson - john green
the vampire diaries - lj smith (i quit once they brought on a ghostwriter; what they did to lj is fucked up)
beneath - madelyn rose (my cousin!!!!!)
the late hector kipling - david thewlis
let's do - rebecca meacham
bloodchild - octavia butler
wuthering heights - emily bronte
gray - pete wentz
literally anything edgar allan poe
also short stories (some of the ones i listed are) might not be a bad idea!!
