I realize that this ended up being less about coming out and more general but I felt like that way there are more things to say, I hope you don't mind ^^". And do let me know if I messed anything up, I'm not genderfluid so I don't have personal experience. ~

Coming out as genderfluid to Camilo headcanons

⚠️ There are mentions of transphobia (NOT FROM CAMILO OFC) at the end as well as gender dysphoria. I'll mark the points related to the transphobia with *** and the ones related to dysphoria with !!! so you know to avoid it if you don't want to read that. It's at the very end and separated from the rest with [] so you can just stop before that, there's nothing after it. ⚠️

Camilo loves you very much, so he's, naturally, very supportive and understanding. But also completely chill about it.

(This is more of a personal Camilo hc but I see him as either bi or pan so he doesn't care about your gender).

If you end up crying while doing it he'll comfort you in any way you prefer.

If you like hugs, he'll hug you close and nice, give you a little kiss on the forehead.

"Amor, it's okay! I love you, alright? Thanks for telling me." He says that with that sweet Camilo smile, I'm picturing it and I hope you are too.

I think with him being a shape shifter he's had at least one gender identity crisis, so he probably knows what genderfluid is from the research he did back then.

So you don't need to explain anything! But if you still want to just to be sure he'll listen, of course.

From then on the second thing he does when he sees you for the first time in the day is ask what your pronouns are.

(The first thing that he does is give you a hug and kiss on the cheek, of course).

Or you can have an agreement that you'll just tell him what you wish to be referred as whenever you feel like it and he doesn't need to ask.

Or both. Whatever you prefer.

If you ever want to dress more masculine he'll definitely let you borrow his clothes.

Honestly I think he'd love it if you wear his clothes and will compliment you on your fashion sense.

If you want to go shopping for clothes to make you feel more comfortable at all times then he'll gladly accompany you and help you choose.

If anyone misgenders you on accident he'll correct them. In a very casual way, but will.

Unless you prefer to do it yourself (or prefer not to do it at all, because I know some people are uncomfortable doing that, and he'll respect that even if he feels bad whenever it happens).

Basically, Camilo is chill about it and will do whatever makes you feel most comfortable.

*** Verbally, of course. Unless the person really, really wants to actually throw hands, but I wouldn't do that to a shape shifter.

*** If you don't want him to do that then please tell him and he won't, he understands this isn't about him and will only do what you're comfortable with.

!!! If you're ever feeling dysphoric he'll do anything in his power to help you through it, be it with words, touch, food, whatever. He's got you (but if you want food cooked by him... Well, he'll try, but he can't promise it'll taste any good).

!!! Did you see how he calms his mamá down? He's clearly the best at this.

!!! He'll even leave you alone if that's what you want, because some people prefer that.

!!! (But will check in on you quite a bit and be very worried, even if he doesn't show it much as to not make you feel worse. He just doesn't like it when you feel bad).

I do not know any Spanish so I did use a lot of google translate, so if there's any mistake I apologize, just let me know ill fix it asap

Camilo pushed his food around. He was leaning on his hand where you kissed his cheek. He was hungry but he was way too preoccupied, he replayed the scene in his head, a lovesick smile attached to his face, unintentionally stroking his thumb across his cheek. "Camilo, are you okay?" Felix asked, bumping his shoulder against his trying to get his attention. Camilo nodded, not paying too much attention, still poking his food.

"Are you sure honey?" Pepa asked reaching for her son's hand, a small cloud appearing above her head which Felix quickly shooed away. Camilo nodded lazily again, finally picking up some food to eat.

"It's the mystery one from the bakery, isn't it?" Dolores asked making Camilo jump up, in a blink and you'll miss it shift into you before settling again, his shoulders were tense and his eyes were wide.

"No, no, no, I um, just got distracted, sorry," Camilo spoke in a hurry, shoving the food in his mouth with a forced smile.

"Smooth," Isabella spoke with a teasing smile, blowing flowers in his face, causing Camilo to accidentally swallow a few.

"Why don't you invite them over 'Milo," Julietta suggested. "It would be nice to meet them."

"I um, I've only spoken to them a few times," Camilo said slightly bashfully, shoving more food in his mouth. Isabella held in a laugh, so did Mirabel and Felix. "I'm done," Camilo said pushing away his food and jogging upstairs.

"Oh come on Camilo, it's okay!" Pepa yelled trying to her son back to the table. "Look what you've done," Pepa said slapping Felix with a piece of bread.

You walked along the river, watching in awe as Luisa moved the bridge to a new spot. Luisa spotted you and did an overly comedic wave with a smile to match, and you lightly waved back confused, until you noticed Dolores at her side pointing at you. You rolled your eyes knowing Dolores had said something about you and Camilo, and the anxiety crept in wondering what she knew, and what Camilo had told them. "Hey," A voice sounded next to you making you jump lightly. You turned to see Mirabel a very large smile on her face. "You're mystery bakery right?"

"Excuse me?" You asked confused. "Mystery bakery?" Quickly you were saved by Camilo rushing over and stepping between the both of you.

"Hey Y/N, hey Mirabel," Camilo said in a hurry before he grabbed your arm and whisked you away. "I'll explain in a sec just keep walking please." You nodded at Camilo and you both rushed until you reached the back of Casita. You waved at one of the aqua windows which waved back with a creak. Camilo finally stopped pulling you along once you reached the top of the hill. "Uh sorry for pulling you away." Camilo rubbed the back of his neck in nervousness.

"It's okay 'Milo. Do you wanna let me know why though?" You asked with a laugh. Camilo sat down in the grass, patting the grass for you to sit next to him. You sat next to him taking his hand in yours, running your fingertip along the crevasses on his palm, in a way you hoped to calm him down.

"Dolores let slip that I was talking with someone, and now my Tia wants you over for dinner, Mama is sending rainbows and sun my way like no tomorrow, Mirabel and Isabella think we're dating, and Antonio thinks he's getting a new sister," Camilo said in a hurry not noticing he laced his fingers with yours in anxiety, squeezing them every so often. You brushed Camilo's hair behind his ear letting your hand rest on his shoulder, Camilo absent-mindedly leant into your touch.

"Do you want to be dating?" You asked studying his face, tangling your fingers in his curls.

"I mean, yeah, if you want to, but I wanna at least take you on a few dates, save what pride I have," Camilo said honestly with a chuckle.

You laughed pressing another kiss to his cheek, resting your cheek against his shoulder. "Alright, what do you want to do? Unless you have jobs to do?" You asked.

Camilo thought for a moment, looking down at your linked hands. "There's a bunch of Cherry blossoms on the east end of the river," Camilo noted, bumping his cheek against your head. "I can run inside and grab some food, and have a calm first date."

"Sounds perfect," You said with a smile and a light laugh. Camilo nodded and you bushed yourself off his shoulder, and with a surge of confidence, Camilo pressed a kiss to the tip of your nose, a hand resting on your cheek, before hopping up and running to Casita, who threw the back door open for him to rush through.

You stared over the sight of Encanto, pressing a hand to your cheek feeling it heat up. You smiled to yourself a small giggle leaving your lips, you were in love.

So i would like to request like one shots (if you do that) on how Bruno and Camilo would be like in a relationship (separately, in case you misunderstand) with their bf (the reader). Y'know like in general (also with the reader being Hispanic or at least being able to speak Spanish if you can do that you don't have to though)

Short hurt comfort one shot.

"Camilo!" I had been looking for them all day, only to find them curled up in a ball by the river, "what's wrong my love."

"It's nothing," they sighed. I sat on my knees in front of them, taking his hands into my own.

"And let me guess, nothing translates to 'I once again am plagued with this feeling that I'm only useful when I'm not myself' am I right?"

They refused to make eye contact with me. I kept poking at his cheek, calling them all sorts of pet names, doing anything I could to try and cheer them up. It wasn't until I put my hand on their cheek that they looked in my direction.

"I don't know what you're feeling, I don't know how to help, but I do know that it has to suck," they started tearing up as I spoke, trying to look away again, "you know I love you right? You are perfect to me."

"Even if I didn't have a gift?" They asked.

"Of course Camilo!" They gladly shifted their weight on top of me, holding me as tightly as they could. I sat there rubbing their back until the stopped crying.

"I love you," they finally whispered.

"I love you to," I kissed the top of their head, only responding by nuzzling further into my neck.

camilo is also assumed to be gender fluid and is referred to using he/they pronouns

i refer to the reader insert as “you” but they are written with the intention of being genderfluid

camilo on his own can be quite the menace for the people of the encanto - especially towards their family - so the two of you together would be a perfectly annoying storm for your fellow citizens… to say the least.

starting off with your relationship in general, you two already have a pretty solid base; sharing a general identity (being genderfluid) and a mutual love for wreaking havoc within the encanto

so, in short, your relationship will just be very fun for both of you (i can’t say that the sentiment would be shared entirely by people outside of the madrigals and your own family, however)

every time you join in on their pranks, he falls for you a little harder and gets this love struck look on his face that dolores and his cousins will never let them hear the end of

he absolutely fell for you because of your mischievous side because of how fun it was to spend time with you - something hard to come by for the easily-bored shapeshifter

in fact, you likely caught his attention in the first place when they saw you teasing a friend of yours lightheartedly

most of your dates would probably revolve around your shared mischievous tendencies and would be rife with lighthearted banter and teasing

you always keep each other on your toes with pranks and the like when possible - even starting an all out prank way a short while into your relationship that only ended when a very peeved pepa got caught in the crossfire

has never mixed up your pronouns, even using a colour-coded band system for you both to communicate your preferred pronouns at any given time with minimal hassle

if they see anyone misgender you, or him, they will either correct them politely if it’s a genuine mistake or will invite you to help him prank them with all the fury two mischievous teens can manage

his family love you for the happiness you bring him, and happily tease them for how head-over-heels they are for you, but also end up at the end of their tethers from all of the teasing the pair of you manage

truly, for them, it’s a love-hate relationship with the idea of you and camilo dating: yes they love you and having you around, but they don’t like all of the teasing pranks

one of camilo is enough, but they can make an exception for you because of how happy you make him

Guys...

As much as I love all of the lgbtq+ headcanons and as much as I really want all of them to be gay, especially with how much I relate to all of them, there’s a possibility that none of the madrigals are any type of gay. Many of them either didn’t have partners, or were in straight relationships. And while the movie wasn’t really focused on romance, we can’t be content just letting D*sney make characters that we relate to and us labeling them. We need to push for there to be actual shown representation. I’m not saying stop the headcanons, or no more fics, (because I love those all so much omg) but if we can’t forget that D*sney is yet to make a main character who is officially a part of the lgbtq+ and is reflected in a flattering light (I’m looking at you, live action LeFou. Don’t mess with me like that). Let’s enjoy Encanto, but don’t forget that D*sney could have labeled any of those characters as lgbtq+ (especially since they didn’t give that many of them romantic interests) and D*sney CHOSE not to do that.

Camilo Madrigal x gender neutral reader

Summary: Camilo surprises reader with Lollipops.

ft non-binary/genderfluid Camilo. I mostly used he/they in this one. but also refer to him as pretty.

warnings: none unless you're weird about sharing food?? this is just a short cute thing to help with writers block so...

The sun began to set as the day came to an end, the sound of small children running home and fireflies whizzing around filled the peaceful evening as Y/n also headed home, humming to themselves as they walk and waving to familiar faces as they passed. they felt at ease until a voice spooked them from behind.

"good evening, mi vida." Camilo's voice rang through their ears unexpectedly making them almost drop their things.

"Jesus…" they place a hand to their chest swatting at Camilo with the other. "don't do that, camaleón. you spooked me."

he laughed and slung his arm around his partner's shoulders pressing a kiss to their cheeks. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to."

"Fine." y/n puffs up their cheeks, flustered. "I'll forgive you because you're pretty."

"Thank you for noticing." he smiles at the praise.

"not that i'm not happy to see you but why are you out so late? Does your mamá know you're wandering around with me or should I expect a thunderstorm if you're out too long?"

"Actually I snuck out of my window, I was hoping to see you before you got home so I could share these with you." he removed his arm from y/n's body and reached into his pants pockets pulling out two Lolipop's. "Mango and Strawberry, your pick."

y/n mulled over their options hand hovering in front of the 2 candies before deciding to take the orange one. "I'll take Mango."

"good choice." Camilo releases the candy into his querido's hand, opening his own and popping in his mouth.

y/n copied his actions as their house came into view just a little further down the path. Both of the teens frown at the thought of their walk coming to an end.

"How were the chores today? help anyone interested." y/n asked, trying to make conversation grabbing onto Camilo's hand now that it was by his side. He didn't seem to notice as he launched into talking about his day helping with babies, helping the town seamstress with trying on tailored outfits, etc. and y/n listened intensely to his words throwing in small confirmation they were still listening all the way up until they got to their destination. The two looked sad when they realized they were on y/n's porch.

"Think you can spare a few more minutes?" y/n asked meekly, jerking a thumb down to the stairs.

"for you? of course I can." he smiled sitting down pulling his partner with him.

The sky above them was now a faded orange as the night began falling faster. The stars began appearing like always but still it was beautiful.

" I love the sky at night…" y/n muttered thoughtlessly, taking their Lollipop out of their mouth for a break from the sweetness.

"It's beautiful." there was a pause as y/n continued staring. "Hey, can I have some of your lollipop?" Camilo asked, laying their head on y/n's shoulder.

y/n figuring he would just lick it like a normal person held it to his mouth. Apparently Camilo can't be normal because he put the entire thing in his mouth, holding his own candy in his left hand.

"Camilo!"

"mm?"

He moved his eyes to look at them when they were talking (a habit he's picked up from his Abuela.) only to laugh at their eyes wide staring at him.

"You said I could have a taste."

"I thought you would lick it, you weirdo." y/n huffed, but they made to effort to take it from him. "Have a lollipop with me, they say. and then they rob me. some kind of boyfriend." y/n grumbled watching Camilo hold their Lollipop in his mouth.

"I just wanted a taste, you're being dramatic. You can always ask for it back." he smiled removing the candy in question from his mouth.

"I don't want it back, you got your slobber on it." y/n huffed.

"never complained before." he tsk'ed rolling his eyes.

"But I like the mango ones." they pout, holding their candy.

"then trade with me and I'll buy you a dozen if you'd like mi vida." he pressed a quick kiss to their lips. "I should be going soon anyway. I'll see you tomorrow right for Antonio's gifting ceremony?"

"Of course I will, I wouldn't miss it. if i don't see him before tell him good luck?
