Hi Joy! I love the idea of the sticker method, it seems like it would be very helpful for me to keep on top of school and acknowledge how much work is actually being done even when I don't feel like it is.
If you don't mind me asking, do you remember where you bought your star stickers?
Hello! I'm glad the sticker method might be of use to you :) I get my stickers from lots of places, but the holographic stars in the gif come from Amazon. Looking at the seller, it looks like you can also get them cheaper on their website, though the cost of shipping makes it about comparable. Hope that helps!

I love all of these goofy product photos where the water bottle is extremely obviously just photoshopped onto a stock image of someone pretending to hold something or whatever.. very convincing..
#the last one where the water bottle is like nearly the size of the woman's entire leg ghbjbjhh#ALSO I know.. gross.. nasty.. amazon.. I was only looking there because I was trying to find an exact replica of an old water bottle#I bought like 6 years ago in a store and I just wanted another one of those and it seemed like the only place the old manufacturer#still sold was through amazon but.. alas.. I think they just don't make them anymore. so I have abandoned my hunt#I didn't actually buy anything. but I did get distracted clicking through product images for a few of them#it's bizarre how like............... idk.. WHY is this done??? Isn't this offputting to basically ANY potential customer?? or do people#not look at every photo/read the entire page/all product information before buying??#all of these are from like front page ''top sellers'' or whatever like........... how does this not hurt the brand????#If the company can't even bother to take a single photo of a real life person using their real life product then... that to me#is kind of red flaggy..?? even if you're an indie start up small business with hardly any funds.. still#A real photo of the product you are selling in a real actual non-photo shopped environment does not seem that inacessible#Maybe it's because everyone does everything on phones now?? So it's harder to see the pictures when they're smaller?#Kind of the same thing with ai art and also hair color photoshops lol.. On my full comptuer screen it is SOOO easy to spot ai art#like IMMEDIATELy from the little tells and ways certain details morph into each other etc. I dont even mean obvious dalle mini stuff but#like the Fancy High Quality Photorealistic AI art is still pretty blatant 98% of the time if you know what to look for. But I still catch#people sharing it a lot like 'omg where can I buy this pair of shoes!! :O <3' .. erm you cannot.. that is the most balatantly fake looking#pair of shoes I have seen in my life hhjbj.. the heels are both different heights. there's a different number of straps on each one. etc.#AND that phase back before colored hair was Mainstream and people would post photos like 'omg going to bring this to the salon!! dream hair#and it's like.. you can LITERALLY see the parts where it's 'colored outside of the lines' and is so clearly just a person with blond hair#that someone drew over with a tint brush or something not even very neatly. etc. etc. ANYWAY.. Maybe with phones it's harder to tell these#things?? To me so much of it is instantly recognizable and it's suprising to me that people either don't notice or don't care and will#interact with it anyway by buying the product or acting like some ai art fake furniture is real or etc. etc. ..hewwoo#Aslo sidenote - I think I've become soo cynical and tired of constantly being advertised to that I literally cannot shop without getting#exhausted. I do not see how marketing is anything but obnoxious and transparent. Every item description having stuff like ''Our company is#commited to bringing you the highest quality water products! we set out with a mission to bring high quality products to people all over#the world and we believe in spreading health and happiness and'' just like SHUT THE HELL UP!! youre a fucking company#you don't ''beleive'' in anything you are here to sell a product. stop trying to talk like you're my bff who cares deeply about my health#or something just tell me the materials and product specifications of your stupid fucking water bottle and move on. Idont need to hear your#whole bullshit spiel about what ~your company stands for~ that is SO much MORE offputting. you make me want to buy the item LESS..#longing for the type of ads from my 1800s magazines that are just like 'this product is good. please buy it. okay thank you much. bye'

in a similar vein to the stuff I was talking about recently with google (unknowingly?) selling invalid ad placements, here's an interesting post I saw on linkedin the other day about advertisers who think they're buying ad space on one domain but are really buying ad space on another:
Tumblr media
so, for context: the woman behind this post was one of the creators of the sleeping giants campaign, which was a (pretty successful!) attempt to choke out right-wing "news" websites and other peddlers of misinformation by drying up their advertising revenue. she went on to found the check my ads institute, which does a lot of the same stuff and more; one of the recurring themes of check my ads' messaging is that advertisers often aren't aware that they're running ads on unsavory websites (and are therefore inadvertently funding those websites via their ad budgets, even though they genuinely want to avoid doing so)... in part because advertisers frequently aren't aware of where their ads are running, period.
in this post specifically, she's not talking about individual advertisers but about one of the companies that exists to connect advertisers (brands who want to buy ad space) and publishers (websites who sell ad space)—in this case, an ad platform called unruly, although they recently got absorbed into a bigger company called nexxen.
nexxen is an all-in-one ad platform that's both a DSP (demand-side platform, which helps advertisers buy ad placements) and an SSP (supply-side platform, which helps websites sell ad placements). they make money by taking a cut of each transaction.
what's happening here is that unruly/nexxen worked with a publisher called yorogon.com who was selling inventory (i.e., ad space) through nexxen's platform. so if you're an advertiser who wants to run ads somewhere, you can go to nexxen and buy inventory from their available sellers; in other words, ad space offered by yorogon.com is one of the "products" for sale on nexxen's markplace. (most of these transactions happen in split-second auctions, though... it's not like shopping on ebay.)
the problem is that this seller who nexxen authorized as "yorogon" wasn't actually running ads on yogoron.com or any of yorogon's nonexistent clients' websites... they were running those ads on fucking breitbart lol. basically the equivalent of a supermarket agreeing to sell some new cereal on behalf of the manufacturer, but the boxes are actually full of thumbtacks.
we can pretty safely assume that breitbart did this on purpose because they know that a lot of the big advertisers with fat wallets shy away from publishers like them—for a number of reasons—which means that they have to sell their inventory to smaller, shittier advertisers with less money to spend. otoh there's no reason to believe that nexxen was deliberately taking part in the charade; for one, the information that led to this discovery is public, so anyone who gave half a shit could've figured it out (including nexxen or any of their advertisers lol). not exactly some vast conspiracy when your extremely public records give away the mismatch. and for two, the whole "promising to run an ad in a certain location but actually running it in a different location" is a massive fucking no-no even if the "different location" isn't andew breitbart's personal wank cave. from that last link I just shared, scroll down a bit and you can find this:
Tumblr media
note that the warning code isn't "you're buying ads on a shitty website that sucks," the warning is "you're buying ads on a website that isn't what it says it is." but there is a dedicated warning code! because back to the cereal metaphor from earlier, this is like—okay, even if the cereal box is full of actual cereal instead of thumbtacks, it's still a problem if you thought you were getting honey nut cheerios and then opened the box and it was full of apple jacks instead. (and god knows I would never willingly buy apple jacks.)
whatever you're selling, it has to be accurate: if you offer ad space on golflovers.com but you actually run the ad on golfenthusiasts.com, that's still a major issue and the advertisers you work with will rightfully jump on your ass about it... assuming they ever find out, lol.
what's really interesting to me, though, isn't so much that an ad platform was selling misrepresented ad inventory—because as far as I can tell, that happens all the time—but more that we only know about this particular instance because it involves breitbart. check my ads is specifically hellbent on throttling breitbart's ad revenue, which is why someone was even poking around in these seller lists in the first place. anyone else could have; the advertisers who unknowingly bought ad space on breitbart theoretically could have, and nexxen certainly should have.
but for all the ad quality and transparency standards in place, any parties involved in the advertising supply chain still have to take action and check their records to make sure they're following said standards. if they get complacent, bad actors absolutely can and will try to slip through their defenses. and what's especially embarrassing in this case is how many safety partners unruly/nexxen was working with who claim to mitigate this exact scenario... although one of them was doubleverify and they kinda suck lol

hey, so I'm trying to figure out what places would be good to sell my own art at, and I'm wondering- what has been your experience with selling on etsy? I've heard mixed reviews from people, and I want to know your perspective as an etsy seller.
etsy is not perfect but i think it gets a little more shit than it deserves, i've thought about opening my own website but generally i'm actually pretty okay with the services i get on etsy compared to what it costs so i'm just gonna make a subjective pros/cons list for you under the cut (because its loooong)
oh and if anyone else has experience selling on etsy and would like to add their two cents in the replies/reblogs please do!
Pros
⭐ The search function - this is etsy's biggest selling point. it already has a dedicated userbase of millions of people and a search feature to help them find your shop, which takes a lot of the load of marketing off your shoulders, and marketing is a huge factor for pushing sales. i am not good at marketing and a lot of my sales just come from people searching my stuff up lol
⭐ Purchase protection program - if USPS loses or damages your package, you file a missing package report and they confirm they don't know where it is, Etsy will refund your buyers order out of their own pocket (under $250). this is my favorite etsy feature because USPS likes to eat packages every now and again. delicious keychains. if you had your own storefront, you'd just have to replace the order yourself.
⭐ Share & Save program - every time someone makes an order on your shop through a special Share & Save link, etsy will refund you 4% of the fees. it's a nice perk to doing some of your own marketing and it helps combat the moderately high etsy fees!
Trackable letter mail - selling stickers but think it's insane to charge $4 shipping? you can buy letter mail labels for about the rate of regular postage, which is like .65c. this tracking is done through etsy though so you can't track with usps, but it does give customers a little peace of mind. this only works in the 50 US states though.
Customs forms built into your shipping label - shipping internationally is a nightmare. etsy makes it easy though, generating everything you need to ship internationally on one label that you just have to sign and date and slap on your package like normal. for some countries they will actually just have your package sent to a domestic facility where they literally do all that for you. this is miles easier than having to do all that paperwork yourself.
buy shipping labels directly from etsy - related point, and just what it says on the tin. when you fulfill an order, you can buy your labels right there on Etsy so you don't have to mess around with a third party website. it comes out of your sale funds so you don't need to charge a card or a bank account or anything.
star seller program - some people say this is completely useless but i actually disagree! it's incredibly easy to earn this badge, and it lets buyers know you've got some of the best products, shipping, and customer service around. it helps you stand out from some of the more... questionable shops on the website.
sales tax - they remit sales tax for you. i don't think any of the other online platforms similar to etsy do this but i could be wrong. doing any kind of taxes sucks so i consider it a perk if they do it for you.
website promotions - every now and again etsy likes to host sales out of their own pocket. you get all the perks of having a sale without eating into ur profit margin. HUGE sale booster
generally the site is just very easy to learn and use and it's very beginner and dumbass friendly. i say this as a former beginner and current dumbass 👍
Cons
❌ the fees. oogh the fees. they claim it's just a 6.5% fee per sale, but on top of that you have to pay .20c automatically for every individual item you sell, plus there are processing fees (3% + .25c) that apply both to the item you sold AND the cost of shipping. i think it comes out to like 10% total in fees on average @ > @
❌ but wait, there's more fees! if you make more than $10k in sales a year (very easy number to hit actually) you are forced to participate in offsite ads, which i believe takes 15% of your total sale on top of the fees in the previous point. these kinds of sales are not as common as you'd think, but it's still annoying having a couple bucks shaved off your profits a few times a month because of them.
corporate bullshit - etsy is like renting a space in a mall. you don't own your lot, nor the mall itself, so if upper management decides to make any stupid ass decisions, you just have to deal with it or pick up and move. if they decide to raise fees again, you just gotta Deal. you are a little bit helpless on this website unfortunately
the push for discounts - etsy is constantly shoving it in your face that they want you to do discounts. they want you to have free shipping on orders over $35, they want you to do 25% off or more on sales, they want you to have returning customer discounts and abandoned cart discounts and 'you recently favorited this item' discounts - but you already have to compete with the steep fees, and when a customer gets free shipping, you still owe USPS that $4-ish bucks to send the package. you don't have to do any of this, but they do reward participating shops by favoring them in the algorithm and search results, so you can feel like you're missing out.
there aren't as many cons imo but they Are steeper cons. generally etsy is very beginner friendly and easy to get into and set up, and in spite of everything i do actually recommend everyone looking to get into online retail start on etsy and perhaps move to other platforms in the future. plus, you can combat all the fees by just... making your prices a dollar or two higher than you initially wanted to, and using your 'save and share' link as frequently as possible. the fees are a little bit much, but you have to think about what you get in exchange:
the search is invaluable, you could argue the fees are partially a marketing budget lmao. if you have a private website you alone have to push traffic to your website, and not as many people know about things like shopify and bigcartel so they might not be as trusting putting their card details into it. i miss out on a lot of REALLY COOL STUFF because artists only advertise on instagram and i don't hear about them, meanwhile if i want some cool owl house stuff i can literally just search that in etsy and find a lot of TOH stuff super easily. i cannot highlight enough how GOOD the search function is, especially in this day and age where social media like instagram and twitter will blacklist your posts if you say words like 'shop' or 'sale' and now nobody can find your stuff in that website's search either. its very hard to do your own marketing now a days :(
being able to refund customer's lost orders out of the company's pocket is such a nice thing to fall back on if you have to and worth its weight in fees. USPS lost like... four or five packages of mine in december. that's like $100 or more worth of stuff that Etsy Covered Completely, and a lot of the times the customer will take that refund to make their order again. don't abuse this system, make sure you check with usps that the package is actually Gone, but it's a godsend when you don't make billions of dollars and eating the cost of lost orders would otherwise sting a bit.
if etsy did not make international shipping easy i simply would not ship anywhere but the US to be honest. shipping to europe is still a headache though but that's because europe is stupid
that's everything i can think of, but tl;dr yes please open an etsy 👍 i recommend it completely in spite of everything
⭐ if anyone wants to open their own etsy shop, use my referral link to make your first 40 listings for free! :)c ⭐

Hello! I really want to get into collecting sailor moon merch but I was wondering if you had any tips? you've been doing this for a long time so I was hoping you could share your wisdom lol
You came to the right person! I've been collecting anime merch since 2011 and have a lot of experience with collecting in general. Some tips I have are:
It's better to buy one big/expensive thing you really like rather than a few smaller/less expensive things you only kinda like.
Prioritize shopping at Japanese sites (especially for vintage things) or direct suppliers like BigBadToyStore rather than buying from English-based sites like eBay and (US) Mercari. There are a lot of great deals on eBay, but you can often find things for cheaper on sites like Yahoo Auctions Japan, Surugaya, and Mandarake.
If you really, really want something that's being released now or in the near future, do your best to buy it right away. Once the official supplier's stash is gone, you'll be at the mercy of the reseller's market and their prices are often way more than sticker price.
Try to map out where you're going to display everything once you get it. My collection grew slowly over time, and I only just recently bought actual display cabinets. I would definitely suggest investing in display cabinets from the start (I got some good ones from IKEA, which is by far the best budget-friendly option)
Just collect what you want! Who cares if you have 20 figures of Sailor Jupiter and nothing else. It's your collection and your money.
I personally unbox everything I buy, but I do collapse and save the boxes just in case I need to resell the item down the line. Having the box will increase the figure's value, but that doesn't mean you can't display it.
That's all I could really think of off the top of my head!
EDIT: @desperatecheesecubes mentioned MyFigureCollection, to which I have to say: YES omg, I can't believe I forgot to shout out MFC! Not only is the site great for tracking your own collection, you can search for merch of individual characters (including alternate forms) to see what you'd like to track down. Also, oftentimes people will advertise that they're selling a figure/plushie/etc on the product page, so it's great to watch pages for rarer items to see if a seller will pop up.

if you ever feel up to it, i'd love to hear how you got the mew. hearing stories about people and their pokemon is really fun.
SOMEONE TOOK THE BAIT LET'S GOOO i wanted to talk about thisSDFFDKS
anyway i got my hadou mew through basically a miracle encounter - back in 2020 i was buying a lot of older pokemon games to fill holes in my collection, either games i never owned or games that i lost over the years from childhood, and as for my missing gen 3 games, i ended up going for japanese copies of firered and sapphire instead of english because having foreign carts is neat but mostly they're just a lot cheaper. buying secondhand pokemon games is always fun because often times the seller doesn't wipe or even check the save file and especially if the save file has a lot of playtime, they're like time capsules from a stranger right. so both games come in and the sapphire has nothing interesting but i'm perusing the boxes of this firered and uhhh
Tumblr media
LMAO my initial reaction says it all, i literally just found this thing on a completely random firered cart i bought! it was not advertised to have mew in it on the ebay listing, in fact the seller i bought from sells a LOT of imported japanese pokemon games (and other gba titles) so i imagine he just has a pile of these and he picked out a random one to mail me without so much as checking what was on it.
of course mythical pokemon on gen 3 carts are dubious, it's not like it's particularly hard to gameshark a mythical pokemon, especially considering that i've gotten a secondhand file before with shit like a box full of Deoxys caught at level 2 on the first route in hoenn LOL... so i was pretty serious about checking for legality on this thing as best i could - backed up the save file and inspected it in pkhex, all data was 100% accurate to the event and also reasonable RNG wise, like normal random IVs and stuff... checked for archived versions of this event mew, none of them were identical to online injectable ones, which means the owner couldn't have downloaded and injected it... and most of all, context clues
Tumblr media Tumblr media
here's ancient pictures of this mew traded to my english leafgreen so it's readable for everyone - i had not done anything with this mew yet so it's completely untouched from how i found it here. we can tell from looking at this that whoever owned this mew was training it with the exp share as its still holding it and is level 23 despite being met at level 10, and the moveset... solarbeam, mega punch, dragon claw?? very random moveset that i can only imagine a child using. this mew looks like it was played with by its owner legitimately. additionally not shown here, the firered cart had a lot of playtime and like 2/3 of the dex complete, the boxes were full of pokemon that the owner had been breeding and a few unhatched eggs, like i hatched one and it was a completely normal eevee so they may have been getting extra eevees for pokedex purposes etc.
basically i cannot 100% confirm this mew was obtained legitimately without teleporting back in time and getting that japanese movie preorder bonus myself, but there is literally nothing strange about this mew and the save file it comes from is well loved and appeared to be played by a child doing normal pokemon stuff. so for all intents and purposes, this mew is definitely legit to me. actually insane happenstance. i have never gotten anything this crazy from a secondhand file before
think of it this way. some japanese kid in 2005 preorders a pokemon movie > he goes to the store to redeem it for a mew in person. in 2005. in japan. > he plays with the mew a bit > at some point he stops playing pokemon > he sells the game to some random american seller after never wiping the save or removing the mew > the american seller buys jp pokemon games in bulk to resell on ebay so he has a ton of them and probably doesn't check them for what's on them or the old save files > when i order it from this random ebay listing, the american seller picks a random fire red cartridge out of his bulk stash and mails it to me > it ends up in my hands 15 years later after the kid first got this mew
like holy shit it's a small fucking world huh
another old convo from the RM discord because i'm nostalgic about it, i had just started talking here at the time... i'm gonna be honest the ribbon master challenge and the people i met through it genuinely changed my life and this mew came into my life at the perfect time so it means a lot to me on top of being insanely cool
Tumblr media
anyways i went on about that longer than necessary but yeah bless my mew i love him

Hi idk if anyone has asked this before but do you think there are thematic implications to Sangah liking works from Murakami Haruki, Raymond Carver, Han Kang.
Yeah, I'm not super familiar with all of the authors myself but I did some basic research while writing Wall fic so I have an opinion about this. First of all, the internationality of these picks shows YSA is well read, but this different kind of well read than KDJ. Her interest in international literature is somewhat connected to her backstory of being from a richer family that wanted to marry her off in my mind bc international language education is somewhat status/wealth associated in modern South Korea. Second of all the kinds of authors she picks out are the type who write singular, artistic works that tend to start from a point of realism and make a comment about the characters' navigation of Society. So the type of reading she's doing isn't sitting down and obsessively following a 3000 chapter webnovel that can only exist through the conglomeration of niche trope after niche trope to be completely understood. I see her as a girlie who like. Will check the new York times best seller list and just buy or check out a new book to read if she hears good things. So this authors of singular works and short stories being her favorite shows she doesn't really follow extensive Series, she's not the type who needs constant updates to keep on living lol. She's the type who occasionally read novels for literature classes which graduated to occasionally reading novels in her free time. Not saying that she reads popular novels just to seem cultured like mister 'art of war on my desk' but I think she is someone who can see opening a book like stumbling upon a television program that just happens to be on you know it's not a major time commitment or something that will rewire her brain and then she'll have thoughts about language use and literary opinions you know.
Then the one author I'm more familiar with is Han Kang and I actually didn't remember her being listed by YSA but you're probably right and I just forgot bc I know Han Kang from reading the Vegetarian more than I know her from being referenced in ORV I guess lol. Han Kang is a popular modern author in South Korea who has both been somewhat of an icon for feminism (I think?) And is definitely a representative of the Trauma literature movement. She grew up in Gwangju and lived through the aftermath of the Gwangju uprising (the people suffered violent oppression and censorship under leadership at the time) and in an interview she once described herself as someone who writes to ask questions instead of answer them. The Vegetarian is an example of a work of hers that starts off very ingrained in reality and slowly becomes surreal in a way that could still exist in the real world but could be interpreted as containing fantasy elements. I think it's interesting to me to draw parallels to YSA here bc the vegetarian is a story about a traumatized woman being controlled and used by other people. Spoilers for the vegetarian I guess but the main character decides to be vegetarian one day without a 'societally acceptable' reason and this 'embarrasses' the people around her so much that they try to force her to change. After she is abused by her husband, father, and brother in law, this experience is held parallel to something she experienced as a child, when she was friends with a small dog and then the dog bit her. Local folk medicine said killing and eating the dog was the only way to cure sickness from a dog bite and she felt no remorse as everyone agreed the dog must be eaten. Forgetting 'the natural order' revokes the rights of personhood or humanity, when the main character of the Vegetarian descends into a psychosis trying to escape participating in the violence of the world around her by 'becoming a plant,' it's shown at the end how even her own sister struggles to see her as a person who can still be spoken with or make her own decisions. So yeah it's pretty fucked up and I have some more specific opinions on it ( like I've written essays about it) but as it relates to YSA the Vegetarian is very much about the POV of outsiders following another person's struggles which I find a very interesting in parallel to YSA leafing through KDJ's memories as his wall librarian. I also think her familiarity with trauma literature as a genre may be off-putting to KDJ specifically because these realistic type stories with a bit of fiction are quite similar in genre to the book his own mother wrote, in fact I find it extremely likely that in the world of ORV YSA read LSK's book somewhere before. I think they're also not the kind of books that get overly silly/ have a 'happy ending' by convention, which is interesting to me bc I see passivity vs agency as an important theme concerning YSA's arc throughout the story and whether or not she has an ability to create a happy ending or not is interesting. Like the little 'you knew??' moment in the epilogues is very important bc YSA and KDJ come from this same 'real world' and because of that neither of them really expected a Happy Ending you know. I like that YSA goes through the journey of beginning to Believe in it before KDJ comes back bc you know it shows that perspective can be changed before we even get to him it's really good.

Do you have any tips for people who want to get into cosplay? It both sounds and looks really interesting but I’m too nervous to try/start.
First off:
Don't worry about the acting part, it's less stressful than it really seems, and I'm saying this as somebody who suffers from anxiety since his teen ages and had an history of pretty frequent anxiety attacks. I started cosplaying in the year 2014, made my proper first "heavy duty" cosplay in 2016.
But do keep in mind, cosplaying comes with its ups and downs and I won't sugar-coat things, so I'll start with them.
Pros
RP in real life is very fun.
You'll probably be stopped by a lot of people if your cosplay is easily recognizable, so be ready. Pictures. A lot of pictures. Which seems a bit awkward but it's often pretty wholesome.
Interacting with other cosplayers (without bothering busy people) is fun.
Going with a buddy definitely makes the experience a lot better. D&D party irl with weaponized autism
Meet new people! Sometimes.
Do fun activities! You can even swordfight your friends and other random cosplayers in small arenas sometimes. FIGHT THE GENSHIN COSPLAYER WITH A FOAM AXE ANON
You can win a Tekken tournament with a full rotting rabbit animatronic costume on!
There is at least one Dance Dance Revolution machine. I don't need to say more.
Cons
Cosplaying is often expensive. You can cosplay on a budget but it comes with lots of in-place reparations.
Bring water and food with you. Drink. A lot. Especially if you have a full armor or a monster fullsuit. You could literally die from exhaustion and/or from overheating.
People are gonna probably take pictures of you without asking. Yell at them with rage because that's illegal
Awkward interactions do happen. Yours truly had to scold a child and her mother at the age of 16 because I was resting my cosplay head next to me (Springtrap cosplay) and the child was trying to pop the eyes of MY cosplay head while I was talking to my friends.
Bring a reparation kit. A little sewing kit, some strong glue, hot glue gun, a piece of cloth you don't have a problem using to keep things in place with, make-up wipes and the make-up you are using as well, if you have any on. That and an emergency kit with bandages and band-aids. Shit can happen.
You are gonna sweat. A lot. Take breaks.
If you have something like a helmet on you are gonna have blind spots. You are probably not gonna hear nor see people calling you sometimes lol
Conventions are expensive. But that's not a cosplay-only thing, keep that in mind tho.
People often forget you are a person outside of the character you are cosplaying as. Which could be both a pro and a con honestly.
Now, I'm not nor a woman nor feminine presenting, but if you are one of the two...gamers are fucking weird sometimes, so be prepared in case.
The actual making the cosplay part:
Do your research on the kind of cosplay you want to do. A partial armor? A full armor? Clothing/make-up? A full monster/animal suit? YouTube is full of good tutorials. Techniques are universal for any typology of cosplay, so don't worry.
If you need cosplay parts you don't know how to make, just look up for "pepakura template *insert thing*". Download a program called "Pepakura viewer" on your PC and look up for Pepakura tutorials if you need any help, there are plenty. You'll probably find templates for the specific part, maybe for free, but mostly for like 10-20 bucks on Etsy. You can also just straight up buy props. Keep in mind 3D printed props can be very fragile tho.
You don't need to make every single part, buy premade things if needed. Hell, you can even just buy a premade cosplay from a seller, doesn't matter.
Improvising is important to find solutions to cosplay making problems. Any technique is a valid technique if it works for you...but please, for the love of everything that is good, DON'T. USE. CARDBOARD. It's gonna absorb your sweat, get moldy and the fumes from the mold CAN KILL YOU. Not joking.
Important: buy a mask with interchangeable filters and safety glasses when you use paints. Also, wear gloves. Your health comes first.
If you are making an helmet...buy at least 2 small fans and install them inside vents below or next to the visor inside the helmet. Believe me when I say this. They do sell ones with premade circuits on Etsy, if you are not particularly good with wiring and stuff.
AliExpress is unironically good for supplies, if you don't want to spend too much.
Sewing and using strong glues makes things last for ages, hot glue does not and it sucks, as much as people use it. Use safety equipment while using glues, of course.
Again, YouTube is your friend in this case. Search for anything you'll need help for.
...you should probably look up at reviews if you plan on buying anything from sites like XCoser.
That's it!

Mononoke-anon here! Idk if the other anon answered you, but the Medicine Seller was originally part of a three-story horror series called Ayakashi: Samurai Horror Tales. The final story, called Bake-Neko, was his debut. The episodes are available online or you can buy the dvd on Amazon.
I watched the Mononoke series first, then was perusing classic Japanese horror when I found Ayakashi. The first two stories are fine, but let me tell you I went feral when I saw the Medicine Seller again, lol. Ayakashi, being the first Medicine Seller story, is a lot more muted in colors and crazy. I agree with anon that he seems a bit more caring and social, actually cracking sarcastic jokes. Although, the all important “meh, women deserve to murder” is still very much here.
If you remember/care about other characters, this is where he met Kayo, the maid from the ship story, originally. So when you go and watch this, it makes sense how she knew all about him and they have some fun interactions. There is also a manga version of the Ayakashi Bake-Neko, so if you’d like more images of this man, I recommend looking it up.
I enjoy how Kusuriuri (Medicine Seller) makes his debut with a Goblin Cat and they chose to end the series the same way.
i don't think i'll watch the entire show, but i might just check out that final arc 👀👀👀 his relationship with kayo (i've also seen sayo? that might just be a translation thing tho) was one of my favorite things about the incest boat arc, and i would probably watch an extra few episodes just for her, if my dear and beloved husband was not also in them. doing cat-themed things, at that.
and i'm not mad at it, but idk how to feel that one of my favorite recent series is actually a spin-off T-T marvel and all their bullshit kinda has me trained to immediately hate shows based off of popular side-characters from different shows, and although i recognized that that's just the Jaded Consumer part of my brain talking, it still does kinda have an effect. i think i'll keep him on the husband list but, like, with a little 'bargain bin' tag or something. just to keep him in his place.

Semantic Error | Jeon Jungkook | Chapter 7
Tumblr media
Based off of Semantic Error (bl) by J Soori Summary: After kissing Jungkook you find yourself in a whirlwind new emotions and you have no idea how you're going to face him after this. Pairing: Techie inexperienced fem!reader x Artist fuck boy Jungkook Word Count: 1.4k Warnings: Some explicit language but nothing too crazy lol a/n: It's been like two weeks since I last uploaded a chapter lol my bad. Hopefully I can update this more regularly soon. Read from the beginning
Slamming the door behind me I rest against it, catching my breath trying to process what just happened.
"Why the fuck would I kiss Jeon Jungkook?" I say aloud, mad at myself for getting caught up in his winding web of women that have fallen for his charm. I groan and take my backpack off, tossing it onto my chair and take my jacket off after that. "What's wrong with me?" I yell out, not knowing how to cope with these thoughts and emotions roaming through my head right now leaving me throwing my jacket across the room and knocking my lamp down in the meantime causing the lightbulb to shatter.
"Of fucking course" I groan and stalk towards it after grabbing the broom and dustpan. I assess the damage and see that I might actually need a whole new one. "Today is not my day" I say unplugging the lamp, setting it to the side. Taking a deep breath I gather up my things again and decide it's best to just get things over with and buy a lamp right away, hoping it'll take my mind off things and head out the door.
Walking to the store not to far from my house takes almost no time at all to get to thankfully and when I walk in I'm met with a greeting from one of the workers. "Oh hey y/n" says the all too familiar classmate that seems to have just as much of a fixation on me as Jungkook. "Hi Jimin" I say and start making my way towards the area where I'm sure I can find what I'm looking for. "What brings you in today?" he says trailing behind me, hoping to be helpful. "I need a new lamp" I say and keep my head on a swivel trying to find the area as soon as possible.
"Aisle six" he says, answering my obvious but unspoken question as to where they might be. "Thanks" I say and head that way with him still following just behind me. "What kind are you looking for?" he questions, trying to yet again keep the conversation flowing despite my clear disinterest. "Just a floor lamp" I say, checking out the selection. "Here you go" he says handing me exactly what I'm looking for. I look up at him suspiciously, confused as to how he found it right away. "How did yo-" "It's our best seller" he says simply and starts carrying it to the front for me. "I can carry that myself you know" I say crossing my arms in front of my chest and trailing behind him, now having our predicament switched up.
"I know, but I work here so there's no reason as to why I shouldn't help you" he says taking me up to the register to wait in line. "Wait here and I'll help you carry it home" he says heading to what I can assume is the staff room. "Aren't you still on the clock?" I question, confused at his continued effort to assist me. "I just finished. I'm gonna go grab my stuff and clock out" he says and rushes off so do as he said. I face back towards the register and wait for my turn, forced to ultimately be met with him reaching me before I'm able to get checked out and just leave without him.
"Ready to go?" he says grabbing the box from me again. "Yeah I guess" I say and start walking back towards my apartment with him following behind. "Why are you doing this?" I ask once we finally reaching my door, having walked the entire journey back in silence. "Well you helped me when I-" "Yes I understand I did that for you, but that doesn't explain why you keep on trying to help me every time you see me. I'm not some helpless damsel in distress you know" I say after letting us both in with him placing the box on the floor and looking around my studio apartment for a bit.
"I know, but I like helping my friend. Is that so wrong?" he questions making purposeful eye contact with me. "I guess not, but we're not friends" I say closing the door and sitting down on my bed with him following suit deciding to sit at my desk. "Well I'd like to be" he says waiting for my decision. He looks unbothered by what I had said so I guess he's already used to my straightforward nature and rough edges. It might not be the worst thing in the world to be friends with him. He's not too annoying, a little clingy but not unbearably so and he seems to be a nice and genuine person from what I can tell so I don't see too many disadvantages as to having a friendship with him.
"I guess that's fine" I say and open up the box to start putting the lamp together. "So since we're friends now, can I help you put this lamp together? he asks unpacking all the pieces. "Friends also listen to their other friends wishes. So no, I can put this together on my own" I say pulling out the instruction manual and looking over the materials accounting for everything. "Okay" he says and decides to sit back and watch me put it together on my own.
"Can you do me a favor?" I ask finally deciding to use him for a second. "Of course" he says and I notice how he almost looks like a puppy waiting for his next command from how round his eyes are while looking at me, still sitting down on the computer chair. "Can you go grab one of the light bulbs from that drawer in the kitchen, the second one from the bottom" I say waving over towards the area, my eyes focused on the lamp again, making sure everything is perfect.
He nods and checks the drawer, looking around for a bit which makes me feel a little bit suspicious. "Did you find them?" I ask getting impatient, hoping to get this whole incident from earlier taken care of. "No I can't find any in this drawer" he says moving things around a bit but ultimately coming up empty handed. "Let me look" I say and walk over to where he stands, doing exactly as he had done, hoping to come up with a different result.
Having searched high and low through all the places I could've possibly thought about storing the lightbulbs I come to the conclusion that I've ran out. "Perfect" I mumble under my breath hating the thought of having to go out yet again. "Why don't I go grab some for you? I'll be back in like 20 minutes tops" he says starting to put on his shoes to make his way out. "Okay" I agree, knowing that he would probably argue with me and end up with the same result if I try to refuse. "Be right back" he says and walks out the door leaving me sat on the floor now alone again with my thoughts.
The images of me kissing Jungkook go round and round and round in my head, still not understanding why I would do something like that. How am I even going to face him in class? Let alone when we're alone in his studio again. I wonder if he even knows that I did that? Did he even feel it? He was sleeping so he probably didn't feel a thing. He didn't even move or react after I did that so he probably doesn't know.
If he does know I don't know what the hell I'm gonna do about it. How do I even explain myself to him? 'Oh hey, yeah about that kiss, it was kind of stupid and I don't know what came over me. It's just that you looked really attractive while you were sleeping, well I mean you always look attractive, but you made me flustered and I couldn't stop thinking about everything and I-' my rambling train of thought it cut off by the sound of my door bell ringing.
"That was fast" I say thinking it was already Jimin but I'm met by the guy who has been running circles around my head and the one person I was hoping to avoid.
"Hey Pretty"

I feel like I give away a little too much in my teasers, but I write and I’m so excited to share, lol. Anyways, teaser for the upcoming chapter 4 ƪ(ˆ◡ˆ)ʃ
When a dominant buys a submissive jewelry (at Indulge), the disposition is a little more …carnal. A little less kissy, touchy, feely — it skips the sentiments of deep sentiments altogether and gets to the point. It’s a little less innocent. And the thing is, it still taps into that tenderness of devotion, but the meaning digs into heavier territory. When a dominant awards a submissive with a piece of brilliant jewelry, the notion comes from a place of ownership.
He’d meant to buy her the bracelet as soon as they’d sat down and signed off on the contract, which inherited stipulations of tying loose ends. Loose ends, being that Peitho was no longer a submissive of free reign prancing upon the plains of Indulge — she wasn’t up for grabs, and if she were to be seen at the bar with her typical glass of syrup-drenched cherries, post a scene, (in the rare circumstance that Harry wasn’t accompanying her side with a soft hand on the small of her back) she’d be seen with an emblem that signified this. Bracelets and collars were commonplace to be gifted as symbols of monogamy — sort of like a twisted, fucked version of one-sided wedding bands, minus all the actual gravity of wedding bands. It’s all sort of a gray area when it comes to language like ownership and dominion, but it doesn’t mean more than both parties are comfortable with, and it’s a sex thing.
Except, this bracelet goes a little bit beyond a sex thing.
It’s definitely still just a sex thing in its essence, Harry thinks, but it’s not just an Indulge thing. Because this bracelet won’t come off.
When he’d first seen the bracelet on the web, in passing, it’d instantly caught his eye. The wristlet was crafted by a luxury fetish jewelry seller with a quality reputation based on reviews, and upon further inspection, each piece was uniquely handcrafted with intricate attention to detail.
It was …sweet-looking. A simple, golden bangle with a pair of dangle-y heart charms. Peitho, in her essence, was a simple, sweet girl, Harry had quickly discerned. She certainly wasn’t a chains-and-spikes submissive, despite their play encompassing all of the above. The bracelet was very Peitho. It was perfect for her. But the simplicity of the design and its lack of probability for questioning aided further in the kicker — the bangle was locked on by a key through a keyhole the size of a hair pin, and he wasn’t keen on handing the key off.
Meaning, the bracelet didn’t come off when the lights shut off in the club.
It was a manacle.
And the thought of Peitho wearing a piece of jewelry that symbolizes her submission to him in an innocent, everyday setting made something stir in Harry. It’d cling to her, always. He imagines it over her wrist as grabs coffee from a cafe before the workday, as she’s slotted to her desk at work, as she runs errands, shopping for groceries, as she showers. As she touches herself in her sheets, in her bed, at home. Always manacled by it.
By a piece of him.
It’s that thought that has his heart beating a little faster when he beckons her over to him. They’re in the White Room and he’s sitting in the verdant chair with the little, velvet box tucked away in his pocket, and Peitho clambers from her knees at his instruction. There’s bemusement in her gait.
“Come on. Not gonna bite you. Yet,” Eros showcases pearly, straight teeth in a smile, and Isla walks to him, curbing the urge to roll her eyes at the quip. As always, despite the shroud of his disguise, he looks absolutely enticing and radiates power.
She’s a little caught off guard that he’s bid her to make her way to him rather than walked over himself, sunk his fingers into her hair, and craned her neck back to spit into her mouth to manifest the start of their scene, or something. Very Eros thing to do. Once she’s stood between his parted thighs, he peers up at her through his lashes. For a silent second, Isla just wonders why men become graced with lashes of such length — they’re no use for them, anyhow. It’s ridiculous, honestly.
“My lap doesn’t have needles or something, does it, love?” is what he says, pillowy rose quirking as her own mouth purses sharply.
So she slots herself onto a thigh, just as he’d implied he wanted from her. She tucks her side to his chest as one of his arms slinks around, his palm settling in the vale of her waist, while the opposite comes to rub over the side of her own thigh. It’s oddly domestic for the first interaction to have in a scene.
“I have,” his tongue peeks out to glide over his lips, “a little gift for my little Peitho.”
She’d be lying if she claimed that his soft words of endearment don’t make her feel melty. The accompaniment of his touch does nothing to contrast the sensation.
“Do you, now?”
“I do. It’s nothing grand, but — it’s just a little something.”
She waits patiently when he removes the hand that’d been petting at her thigh and digs it into a pocket of his slacks. When he withdraws a dark, velour, little, squared box, her heart stutters behind her ribcage. He hands it off to her with something soft in his gaze, pausing to watch as she thumbs over the velvety texture.
“The gift is not the box, by the way,” he blinks up at her, his mouth twitching, “S’inside. In case you weren’t aware.”
“Really?” Isla eyebrow raise is veiled by the lace over the upper half of her face, “I had no idea.”
Her statement earns her a gentle squeeze over her waist, and, feigning reluctance, she pries the little jewelry box open. Inside, Isla discovers a dainty little bangle of a bracelet — it shimmers in the light, and her pupils rove over it. It’s beautiful, delicate, her. The young woman feels her own heart teeming at the sight of the two charms of hearts.
Harry staves off the explanation on the tip of his tongue, just watching her reaction carefully, hoping that she likes it, and when she turns her face up to him, feigning a pout, his chest nearly seizes.
“I thought you were going to propose,” she sighs, feigning dismay, and Harry digs his tongue into his cheek as the corners of Peitho’s mouth twitch at the difficulty of maintaining the facade. Her head falls back and she laughs, “No, it’s beautiful. Thank you. Put it on me. Please.”
“You don’t want to hear about all the tedious care and craftsmanship that went into it?”
“Sure I do,” the young woman examines the jewelry with a curious gaze, her tone almost distracted, “You can put it on me, and then tell me everything.”
Her eagerness draws dimples to rise awake in his cheeks, and he compromises by clearing his throat as she withdraws the bangle from the box and hands it off to him. One of his palms wraps over her right hand, and he slides the bracelet up to secure it over her wrist as he starts to talk.
“Well. First off, the sentiment is that it’s a bracelet to show everyone that you’re mine. Which, like, I would’ve gotten a collar,” he doesn’t miss the way the words cause her body language to toe into more …pliable territory, the way her chest stiffens, and he bridles a smirk, “But,” he pauses to deftly snap the ends of the bangle together, and casts his gaze up to her to trace a finger over the decorative collar she always dons over her throat, “You already wear one, and I didn’t wanna add to it. I wanted it to be my thing.”
As his touch withdraws, Peitho’s head ducks to further inspect the new jewelry, but he wrenches her arm back to him, gently, laughing softly, “M’not done.”
“I was,” his irises flicker up to her, “between silver and gold, but you wore those little gold hoops the one night before you took them off, and I’ve never seen you wear silver, so I figured gold would be fitting for you. And it is, by the way,” a pleather-clad thumb draws over the top of the band, “real gold,” his teeth show a bit in a soft grin, “So you don’t have to worry about your arm going green.”
The attention to detail is truly impeccable. But—
“Real gold?” Isla swallows, “That — I mean it had to be expensive.”
Eros just purses his mouth for a moment, and then tells her, cushiony lips curling up a bit, “Quid pro quo.”
“Quid pro quo?”
“Sure,” he tells her, blinking up at her innocuously despite the shit-eating grin that so obviously yearns to break over his mouth, “You let me do all sorts of scary things to you. S’only fair I get you something pretty in return. It’d be impolite if I didn’t.”
Isla nearly squawks indignantly at the lewd connotation of his words, but instead, she lets him intertwine their fingers, “Now I just feel like a prostitute.”
The little charms swing gently.
“Or you could opt for the sugar baby route. Your choice.”
Isla huffs. And then, curiously, she watches him withdraw a little pin-like key from his pocket and stuff it into a tiny slot on the bangle. He twists carefully as he continues, tone focused, “And it’s really, like. Innocent, I think. Dainty. So, you don’t have to worry about people asking questions.”
Something suspicious works its way into her chest, budding, and she inquires, “Yeah. It’s really pretty. So, I just use that little pin thing to take it off? Like, to shower?”
The male peers up at her, pausing his handiwork, bemusement morphing the features she can see, “S’gold. You don’t have to.”
“Right, but. Just to take it off,” she clarifies, fully intent on giving him the benefit of the doubt despite the blatancy of the flags marking up the territory of the conversation, “For work, and stuff. You’ll show me how to use the little key?”
For a moment Eros just looks up at her, and then the corners of his mouth, a muted berry, buckle smugly, “No.”
No? Isla feels the shudder rolling down the knobs of her spine as the dominant licks out and leaves his bottom lip shimmery in the wake of his tongue, before clarifying, no jesting to his cadence, “It doesn’t come off. Not for you. I’ll have the key.”

You posting all your yakuza merch has inspired me to get a job so I can start my collection
Where do u usually look to find this stuff?
eyyy good luck with the job search! long ass merch write up below 👇
most of my stuff has come from ebay or jp mercari / jp yahoo auctions. I proxy via buyee since it's ez pz to browse a bunch of different markets in one place 👍
I don't recommend using ebay unless it's something you absolutely cannot find elsewhere. you often see the same exact items on jp markets listed on ebay (same photos, sellers, everything) cuz sellers count on people not knowing how to proxy so they charge far more there or they count on people thinking the often free shipping is worth the jacked up price - it isn't lol. unless you're ordering something that's huge, shipping via proxy is manageable imo so long as you consolidate orders)
that's what I do for older merch. for newer stuff, you can very easily find things on amiami like the plushies now that RGG is actually putting out merch for an international audience. you just gotta get in on those preorder periods cuz you never know when restocks happen if at all
*there are some things that you can only proxy buy tho as far as I know - for example, LAD ishin internationally came out with just the physical copy (and steelbox for US only? I don't remember lol). buttttt if you ordered from ebten (which is like a bigass jp merch site) you could get the jp version of ishin which came with a lotta shit like a wall scroll of Ryoma, a fan, a pillow, etc.
moral of the story is if you don't live in japan your game specific merch release will probably be lame as hell lmao but jp versions/exclusives are often available for proxy purchase. for a recent example, here's the preorder bonuses for jp gaiden which includes a lotta cool shit whereas I believe RGG said gaiden's not going to get a physical release internationally (don't quote me on this, it's been a minute lol)
for things like statues, looks like amiami will stock those but GK (garage kit) figures (like the chocobo studios stuff) are only on GK sites like FNC and i.hstoys due to being unlicensed and therefore unofficial but they look hella good 👀
should also mention kuji merch too. kuji stuff is basically those jp lottery things where you make x number of pulls and you're guaranteed to win something every pull and there's tiers of prizes - so if you've seen the Majima kuji stuff, it's all those pins, wall scrolls, hoodies, etc. there's a few sites dedicated to them or you can proxy. I don't often do these cuz I don't want a million copies of a prize like a can badge lol but people do like the random aspect and people often trade dupes of prizes. amiami also has sold extra stock of kuji prizes
I think that's bout all the stuff I use 🤔 of course if anyone has any questions on anything, do feel free to ask ^^

The Miguel box came today and now my entire family knows about my obsession 😭 the box had his name and spider symbol on the front and I wasn't home when the mail came lmao.
The rapture perfume that's based on him smells good! It's a little chemically smelling and not quite what I imagined for him, but it's pretty close.
The mug also has his spider on the back of it! At this rate, I may as well have a shelf dedicated to him because of how many figures I have 🤣
Hii, I hope you're doing well!! I'm so sorry for how long it took me to reply to your ask!!
Haha, not this box exposing you to your whole family!! I feel that!! My entire family knows about my Miguel obsession and I get teased so much 😭 my parents don't even know I write fanfic for him, so I can only imagine how much more teasing I would get, especially from my mom if she found out!
I'm glad the rapture perfume smells good!! I think it's creative that they gave it a chemically tone to it just because of the rapture concept, but I agree that I don't imagine that being his scent. I can't describe it but the word chemical definitely doesn't come to mind when thinking about his scent. If you don't mind me asking, what do you imagine his scent as? I've been thinking about this for a while ever since I first wrote about his scent in the chapter in which reader looks after him when he got hurt. I just know he smells good, period, no questions asked, but I can't find a conclusive scent, it's kind of mixed up!
I remember seeing the mug on the etsy post, and it was so cute!! I'm thinking of buying one (a different one because I don't think the seller for the box has the box available anymore; I'm also broke right now lol) so I'll have to look and see!! And omg, you should definitely set up a shelf just for him!! I've seen a lot of people's and they're so cute!! I'm looking to expand my collection but first, I need a new bookshelf because mine is already struggling with so many books (I've ran out of space, actually 😭), so I need to do that before I go on and buy more figures/items. I would really like to buy the lego figure and a plushie!!
But I hope you enjoyed your box and that your family didn't tease you about it, haha!! I hope you're having a great week so far, and take care!! ❤️

longwinded guide for not spending too much on shipping for things purchased from korea
I couldn’t find the post on reddit so here’s a longwinded explanation lol: @felixs-voice-makes-me-wanna
Korean addresses (usually called K addy’s) are sites that let you ship to them and consolidate your package bc shipping is usually very cheap or free within korea and then they optimize your package and make it as affordable to ship as possible in my experience. This is great if you buy from multiple sites or buy things like albums and merch in particular.  Essentially you buy items from sites and have them shipped to the address. They take those packages and when you submit a repack request, they consolidate them into one, more affordable package. Most of these sites will also buy these items for you if you wish and act as a proxy of sorts. They are free to use (you can get a Korean address and ship things to them for free but if you want to ship to you that’s when you would pay or use them to make purchases there are fees)
Some examples:
Orderkorea.kr – 1 year of free storage as well, they offer inclusions only (if you buy an album they will take the pcs out and send them to you to lower the weight of the package). Lowest shipping rates I’ve seen to US so far. How I got my Skzoo set back when they did the restock with the jeju merch and jypshop was gonna charge me almost 200 in shipping (I swear they pocket that money) and orderkorea charged me 60 and it got to me in less than a week.
Korgou – not used by me yet but has good reviews and tutorials made by users on youtube
Paysable – I have used, gives you a year of free storage (you can hold things there without fees up to a year if you want to wait to ship for any reason), not my favorite, they seem slowest to me
Kfriday – never used this one either but I’ve heard great things
Delivered korea – the most commonly used/general favorite from what I’ve seen. I like that they always let me choose which international shipping service I can use (I use DHL bc I can presign for delivery with them but it is always the most expensive)
Another alternative is GOMS or group order managers on Instagram. This experience varies by GOM but I’ve never actually had a bad experience. Just make sure if you use someone it isn’t a new account and they have proofs on their story (posts from other people like reviews stating they got their goods), but the bonus of a gom is that you can find one from your country and split shipping frees on that group order with everyone involved! So for the aniteez plush if the gom purchased one set of plushies and you claimed Seonghwa, your shipping fees would be drastically reduced because it would  be split between you and 7 other people. Downsides are if you collect popular members it can be hard to get spots on group orders (like Wonyoung, Wonbin, Seonghwa, etc). In most circumstances I recommend a GOM over ordering yourself or using a proxy (detailed below) bc you end up paying less if you are collecting for one member. If you collect full group or buy a lot of things a k addy and or proxy is good.
Proxys are people who actually go to events like pop ups and buy for you. They have fees but if you want to be mostly guaranteed something, they are a good alterative, but make sure they have good reviews from people who have used their services as well.
Group order managers = no profit, they are just trying to get a members cards without paying for a full set,  so open the other members’ cards up to other people to lower their costs
Proxys = usually a full or part time job. They do make money off of it from fees.
A lot of pcs and merch can be found from Japanese sellers at much lower prices than us sellers and have similar websites to purchase off yahoo Japan, mercari Japan etc, I’ve used buyee and neokyo for this before but if the item details says “Korean shop purchase”, it’s a fake/replica, be wary of fakes in general
My Last resort is always mercari us or ebay bc it is usually highest priced but sometimes you will find reasonable prices on there, never for things like the aniteez plush though my guess is there will be resellers on those sites listing as over 100 dollars as soon as they ship out :’ )

Tumblr media Tumblr media
ive beaten gen 3 games before but this one is different. this is my childhood sapphire version that i lost all the way back in 2005. i was completely devastated when i lost this uniquely "marked" cartridge. to this day i still remember the very last place i saw it before i lost it.
what do i mean by "uniquely marked"?
Tumblr media
one afternoon when i was sleeping over at my friend's house, i reached the seafloor cavern for the first time and couldnt figure out this part.
i got so immensely frustrated with it that i tossed the gameboy at my friend's chimney, the cartridge went flying out of the gameboy, and while everything still worked fine, it cracked the cartridge. this made it unmistakably mine if i ever encountered it again, though.
WHICH OF COURSE I DID. that picture up there is a cropped version of a big photo of cartridge games my cousin ended up discovering in his mom's storage. when i told him the story above, he was shocked and arranged for the cart to be sent to me. by this time, i was living in texas, he was in reno, and his mom's storage was in vegas.
in 2016, over ten years after i lost my sapphire version, my dad was vising his sister at a family gathering, and this was our chance. my cousin handed the cart off to my dad so he could bring it back to me. i knew by now there was no way my original data would still be there. that was fine with me. i just wanted my original cart back. in fact, in 2012, i tried to re-buy a different sapphire cart, but ended up sending it back to the seller because it was counterfeit. it was a sign, lol
when i got my sapphire version back, it was pokémon day 2016. pokémon's big 20th. and i had my sapphire version back. to this day it still feels like a fever dream.
of course, with starting gen 3 from the beginning again, this meant i had one important thing to do all over again. see, sapphire is the game where i found my first shiny. my first encounter on route 114 was a shiny swablu, that i ended up naming after the animal crossing character goldie. my first ever shiny.
i wasn't going to just accept that i no longer have my first shiny, so as soon as i reached that route, i prepared my materials: the white flute from the glass workshop. an illuminate starmie at level 17. lots of repels and premier balls. a swalot with yawn. and was prepared to camp on that route for weeks until i encountered my first shiny again.
