Adaine is such a fascinating character to me because she's such a compelling combination of having debilitating, choking panic and anxiety while also being utterly, stubbornly argumentative and combative with absolutely everyone she meets and i love her for it

✨Why I Think Bella Swan Is On The Autism Spectrum ✨
In this post I’m going to talk about why I personally believe that Bella Swan is autistic. As an autistic person myself, I really relate to Bella and I see a lot of autistic traits in her.
Disclaimer: This is just a headcanon- I don’t think Stephenie Meyer intentionally wrote Bella as autistic, and she or the movie producers never confirmed it, so I’m not saying to everyone that she is CONFIRMED to be autistic and that every one has to see her that way, I’m just saying that I personally think she is, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Autistic people hardly have any representation in the media, and with the representation that we do have, it is almost always stereotypical, inaccurate and offensive. You do not have to agree with me on this, but just please be respectful in the comments and don’t hate :)
Ok let’s go:
1. She always felt different from everyone/she felt like nobody truly understood her and that she never really understood anyone either: this is what basically all autistic people feel, myself included. Feeling like nobody understands the way your brain works and the way you see the world. (And this is true, because autistic people do see the world differently than non- autistic people and autistic peoples brains are wired differently from non- autistic brains). Bella mentions this multiple times in the books and movies, at one point in the first book in the car with Edward, she tells him that she thinks he can’t read her mind because they’re a probably a glitch in her brain and that it’s not like other people’s. There is also this quote from the 1st chapter of twilight which sums up how she feels: “ Facing my pallid reflection in the mirror, I was forced to admit that I was lying to myself. It wasn’t just physically that I’d never fit in. And if I couldn’t find a niche in a school with three thousand people, what were my chances here? I didn’t relate well to people my age. Maybe the truth was that I didn’t relate well to people, period. Even my mother, who I was closer to than anyone else on the planet, was never in harmony with me, never on exactly the same page. Sometimes I wondered if I was seeing the same things through my eyes that the rest of the world was seeing through theirs. Maybe there was a glitch in my brain”.
2. Her motor skills: She’s constantly tripping over her own feet, has bad balance, doesn’t realize that she’s walking into things, constantly dropping things ect, a common thing for autistic people is to have poor motor skills and find it hard to navigate their body.
Another disclaimer about autism: not ever autistic person is the exact same, every autistic person expresses their autism in a slightly different way, for example, some autistic people are overly sensitive to sound, and some are under-sensitive to it, these are just the specific things I’ve noticed for Bella in this post, it’s not supposed to be a generalization of autism in any way! :)
3. Social disinterest and difficultly: all throughout her childhood and her time in forks, she wasn’t very interested in making friends or hanging out or going to parties, and she found that she could never make friends with someone easily, she just never fully clicked with someone. She did have some very nice friends in forks, however she never related to them too well or was very attached to them.
4. Dresses for comfort and not fashion: Bella typically dresses in what feels most comfortable for her, not what is the most fashionable thing, this is a common thing with autism. A lot of autistic people like myself are quite sensitive to clothing and fabric and will not tolerate uncomfortable clothing.
5. Limited interests/special interests: Bella doesn’t really have many interests, but the ones she does have, she’s very passionate about. A special interest is an autism-specific term used to describe interests and hobbies that autistic people have that are very important to them. They help regulate emotions, calm people down, provide escapism ect. Autistic people can hyper fixate on these interests for hours and hours and not get bored, they can get so engrossed that they forget to do basic tasks to take care of themselves like drinking or going to the bathroom. These interests can last for years, sometimes a lifetime and they are very important to autistics. Bella swans special interests would be reading, wuthering heights, and vampires. Bella says in midnight sun that she has loved reading all her life and it is one of the few things that bring her intense joy. She said she could read for hours at a time and would try to sneak books into her lessons and read any chance she could get. Bella says that her favorite book is wuthering heights and she has read it so many times that it is beaten up beyond repair and the spine is so cracked that the book lays flat. This would clearly be her special interest. Her other special interest is clearly vampires.
6. Burnouts and meltdowns when Edward leaves: when Edward left in new moon, Bella obviously fell into a huge depression, but I also think she fell into an autistic burnout (if you don’t know what that is pls research or ask me cause this post is already too goddamn long). And in eclipse, when Edward leaves to go home in the afternoon or to go hunting, she can barely focus without him and gets very anxious (this is obviously because she loves him and is literally obsessed with him lol, but I also think it could be a meltdown from separation anxiety and also a change in routine (a lot of autistics get very upset when their usual routine is disrupted or changed))
7. Sensitive to sounds: In the book, often Bella cannot concentrate or fall asleep because of little sounds like the rain, sometimes it takes ages for her to sleep because the rain or tapping is too distracting. (This is a common autistic struggle).
8. Stims & facial twitches & stuttering: in the movie, she is constantly stuttering over her words, and her face and body twitches a lot. She also stims a lot in the book by playing with her hair or sleeves or the zip of her jacket, or her hands or edwards hands. She also covers some of her face with her hair, this could be to do with sensory overload, seeing too much in her field of vision may be overwhelming for her, like a lot of autistics.
9. Trouble expressing feelings/ thoughts: bella struggles a lot sometimes with communication and telling people how she feels. You can see this in her relationship with Charlie. They both love eachother very much but they never say it and when they do it comes out very awkward and sometimes they use the wrong words. You can also see this when she is hesitant to tell Edward in eclipse when she doesn’t want him to leave for the fight, it takes her ages to work up to telling someone how she feels. She also tends to be quite private. This is common for some autistics to feel.
10. Sensory experiences: bella loves the sun and heat, she says that she loves feeling the sun seep into her skin- a lot of autistics feel the sensory world very strongly and love certain sensations and detest others. When Bella moves to forks, she hates the sudden change in weather and gets anxious and upset at the feel of the cold, and the rain against her skin. This links back to my other point where I was talking about how autistics fear sudden changes in routine. Bella is very relieved when there’s a sunny day in forks and goes and sits outside, savouring the weather which reminds her of home.
11. Not too concerned with how she looks: obviously not every autistic person is like this, but quite a few autistics don’t really focus on how they look/present and what they wear. They don’t really know about the social norms and what other people wear so they do what they want. This is something I often see in Bella in the books especially.
12. More quiet/ reserved and socially withdrawn and awkward: this is basically self explanatory. Bella is very well known for this. I touch a bit more on this in point 3.
If you made it this far then thank you so much! This took a long ass time to write and I’ve been thinking of making this post for months. There are more things that make me headcanon her as autistic, but these are just from the top of my head. When I re-read the series (for like the 100th time lol) later this year, I’ll annotate the book so that I can update this post in the future with more supporting this).
Again this is just my opinion and my personal headcanon, it is not factual (but I’d obviously want it to be canon) so please no hate :)
If you have any more things to add on then please do!! I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Comte’s One More Wedding Event (full release)that should have just came out in Japanese Version. Could you translate it or summarize it, please? Thank you for your time.
I can't believe you want to give me this kind of power, but if you insist 😂💛
That being said, because my translation skills are rough at best, I'll be summarizing and selecting specific parts to discuss if I feel a need to quote directly.
If you don't want spoilers for Comte ES, run!
Y'all. Y'ALL. REEEEEEEEE I LOVE HIM. NOBODY LOOK AT ME I'VE BEEN CRYING ON AND OFF FOR DAYS
ANYWAY
So this particular event begins with MC bringing Comte a letter as he thanks her. One glance at the return address tells him that it's a pureblood gathering invitation, and upon opening it he's right. He shrugs it off and says he'll reply to it later, setting it aside.
MC, perceptive as ever, asks if he's declining the invitation. Comte explains the nature of the party and how only purebloods are allowed to end. Furthermore, the gathering takes place on their first wedding anniversary--and he would much prefer to spend the day with her.
Comte: “MC, any gorgeous evening party–no matter how beautiful–means nothing to me without my wife at my side. The place I belong is with you.”
MC: “Er…”
His gold eyes are steady and unwavering as he looks at me, and my heart skips a beat.
Comte: “Anywho I have no intention of attending this party, as it also overlaps with the date of our anniversary. Our first wedding anniversary is an important day, and I want to spend it with my beloved wife.”
Comte smiles winningly, all while staring straight at me.
MC, however, finds herself conflicted. Given how little she knows about purebloods, she wishes she could attend the party to better understand him and the community he's a part of. She admits this, to Comte's great surprise, but feels bad about it because she doesn't mean to ask something impossible of him. (One of the requirements of the party is that you have to be a pureblood vampire to be invited. ON WEDNESDAYS WE WEAR PINK) Comte clarifies that--because she's his wife--she's welcome to attend alongside him. He offers to take her with him if that's what she wants.
MC: “Are you really sure it’s okay for me to go, though?”
Comte: “Certainly. But I would never force you if you were uncomfortable, of course.”
MC: “No, I don’t hate the idea!”
Comte: “But I’d understand if being surrounded by purebloods would be rather nerve-wracking for you…And so many of them have a superiority complex a mile wide; they’re a prideful bunch. While it may not be all of us, there are enough that it might be stifling for you to be around them.”
Comte: “In light of all that, are you certain you still wish to go?”
[I know he’s just doing his best to prepare me for what I might face at a party like this--he doesn’t want me going in with the wrong idea. It’s very likely he had intended to decline the invitation to spare me the discomfort, and the burden of making a choice that would affect/limit him too. The concern in his features makes me melt.]
The part I love most about this scene is that this is just the beginning of so many attempts on his part to prepare her realistically, but also support her decision. As much as he wants to go with her he's never going to put her in the position of deciding for the both of them. He knows there's a great deal of pressure to face among such a forbidding/traditional society, and if she needs more time to prepare for that--he wants to give her the space to get used to something so unfamiliar. In truth, I don't see him ever asking her to go if she didn't want to--even if it stung to have that part of him rejected...
MC considers for a moment, but she's resolved to understand him and his people better. She explains as much, and Comte brightens at the confession.
MC: “I’m sorry if it’s a bit much to ask of you, but thank you…!”
Comte: “I should be the one thanking you, now I look forward to the gathering.”
MC: “You’re…looking forward to it?”
When I tilt my head quizzically, le Comte draws me close with a faint smile on his lips.
Comte: “I’m excited to introduce you as my wife.” (SCREAMS AND CRIES)
This gets INSANELY cute because he gathers her close to him and she just gets very bashful about it. She apologizes--saying she knows she should be more used to it given they've already been married a year now, but his response is so sweet: “Why apologize? I’ve always thought my wife is the cutest.”
They both think back to their wedding ceremony at the mention of how long they've been together, and MC's eyes find the flower pins she gifted him on top of his hourglass (which fking one he has like 300).
Some background for anyone unaware: when Comte and MC got married, MC gifted him these flower pins--they were flowers that were preserved (in metal I think? idk exactly how it works they just look metallic in his outfit art). She explains that they're an attempt to symbolize her love for him, in that she intends to remain unchanging in her feelings forever. I find it's also an apt metaphor for MC herself; it's not unlike her agreement to become a vampire to stay with him.
MC: “You’ve been taking good care of the flowers I gave you.”
Right next to the hourglass lie the preserved flowers I gave him. They gleam in the light with ease, clearly polished and looked after–not a speck of dust on them.
Comte: “With those you swore your love to me. Isn’t it only natural that I’d take good care of them?” (LISTEN COMTE YOU AND I BOTH KNOW THE REALITY OF THE MALE SPECIES QUIT PLAYIN)
After that scene there's a timeskip to the night of the party--and after everyone celebrates their anniversary in the mansion all day--they hop in a carriage. MC is a little lost in thought, preparing herself for what's to come. When he asks if she's nervous she fully admits to it, but with a caveat. She's nervous because she doesn't know what to expect and she's concerned about committing a social faux pas, but she's not afraid or anxious.
Before I came to this time I had absolutely no concept of what an elaborate dinner party looked like–and besides which, this time it’s going to be a room full of purebloods. I’m nervous, sure, because I’ve never done this before--but it’s not quite anxiety or fear.
MC: “As long as you’re beside me, I’m invincible–anytime, anywhere.”
I can navigate anything: unfamiliar social circles, even an entirely new era of time. Because Comte is always so steady and reliable, always there for me, my anxiety ebbs and I can shine–be the very best I can be.
Comte: “MC…”
Comte looks absolutely moved by what I have to say, directing a gentle, tender look at me.
Comte reiterates his previous warning, that they might be weirdos and/or rude because they're stuck in their ways. He knows their discriminatory nature is wrong, but he believes in her ability to overcome those things--and fully intends to support her. He also lets her know what to expect in terms of the schedule: mostly mingling, and dancing is reserved for the very end of the party only.
Gatsby hour begins and MC marvels at the enormous venue sparsely populated by people dressed to the nines (I can only imagine how Comte dressed her up for this event in light of that LMFAO). Comte tells her he's going to get some drinks, and MC agrees to wait for him. In a classic lowkey queen move, she retreats against a nearby wall to take in her surroundings. She feels a certain intensity to be surrounded by people who look so young and beautiful, and yet carry the experience of lifetimes within them. She also notes the slightest permeating scent of blood in the air, assuming most of the people in attendance are drinking Rouge in their wine glasses.
When Comte returns to her, he offers her a glass of red wine, and she takes it with a smile.
MEAN GIRLS TIME!!!!!
So these two ladies approach le Comte yelling about how long it's been since they've seen him, and about the rumors that he got married. Without missing a beat he confirms it's true, and introduces MC to them as his wife. MC offers a greeting and a curtsy, but the women openly spurn her because she's not a vampire lmao. ("Who put you on the planet" energy, essentially). I still can't tell if they were acting like insane mother-in-laws on Comte's behalf, or out of jealousy--or weirdly both.
All casual dismissal, the women sashay away from us, dresses swishing.
[It seems like I really won’t be accepted as Comte’s life partner so long as I remain human…]
Comte: “…I’m sorry. I’m afraid that is the usual attitude of pureblood vampires. Not all of us are like that, but they still made you feel uncomfortable ;;;;”
MC: “That’s not something to apologize for. I’m happy to attend such a lovely party as your wife.”
I don’t want to ruin the occasion for him, so I beam at him.
Comte: “MC…” His lips descend close to my ear, pressing the lightest kiss against it.
Comte: “Thank you, MC…I’m happy, too.”
While Comte is full of uwus and love for his wife, she notes he stops there--likely because it's a public venue. (And I'd wager respectability politics, given a lot of old school people tend to say horrible things at the slightest sign of PDA lol. It would give them all the more reason to be nasty to MC.) MC notes that no matter how small the gesture or how often he extends his affection, it always sets her heart racing (what a damn mood) and they both gear up to greet everyone else. They're both like ganbatte!!! at each other and it's really cute, haha.
[No matter how many times he does things like this, I’m always caught off guard. I imagine we’ll be this way forever…]
Comte: “Here we go, the party’s only just begun. Let’s get to it and enjoy ourselves. No need to hesitate, it’s our wedding anniversary after all–this is a time for you to smile.”
MC: “Haha, thank you very much! Then I’ll definitely enjoy it to the fullest!”
We continue to greet and chat with other purebloods, the night goes on while I sample some of their food–
At some point MC separates from Comte to use the restroom. When she exits to rejoin the crowd, she hears the voices of those two women that openly rejected her earlier. They basically talk about how Comte and MC will never last or have a meaningful relationship, and that Comte is wasting his time not breeding more master race pureblood babies for the community's future. (Not remotely surprised Leonardo does not like them at this juncture lmao)
While MC was well aware she'd face some level of disdain, she admits that it still hurts to hear--and doesn't want Comte to see her upset. So she walks out to a nearby balcony to look at the stars and cool off before returning to his side.
Comte: “MC.”
MC: “Eh…? Comte, when did you get here?”
Comte: “You hadn’t returned for a while, so I went looking for you.”
MC: “Ah, I’m sorry to worry you. The stars were so lovely I couldn’t help but linger a bit to enjoy the sight of them.”
When I try to hide my gloomy feelings, he stares at me.
Comte: “You seem upset all of a sudden. Did something happen? Did someone…say something to you, by any chance?”
MC: “Ah, I can’t hide from you it seems. I guess I am a little upset.”
Comte: “…”
Comte: “MC, do you regret marrying me?”
MC: “!”
MC: “That’s not the case at all. No matter what finds us in the future, I’ll never regret having married you. I’m glad I met you, Abel–that will never change…”
When I tell him my heartfelt feelings, he gently wraps his arms around me.
Comte: “…Me too, MC.” The voice that murmurs at my ear is filled with such ardor that my heart melts.
Comte: “It might have been too much to ask of you to come here. But no matter how difficult the truth may be, it’s an undeniable fact that I’m a pureblood.”
Comte: “I was so happy that you wanted to know more about me–to know me better–that I was spoiled by your words. And yet, as a result of that indulgence, I hurt you…”
MC: “…No. That’s not it. Abel, I’m not familiar with vampires. But this last year, I was with a pureblood who’s kinder than anyone else I know.”
I have no innate fear or dislike of purebloods–because the person I love more than anyone else in the world is a pureblood vampire.
MC: “That’s why I’m not afraid, or dreading any of this.” It might seem outlandish, but his presence was like magic; it was enough to give me the strength to have courage and find kindness for the people around me.
MC: “No matter who stands in my way in the future, I will do my best to be recognized as your partner someday. Didn't I tell you before? I'm invincible anytime, anywhere, as long as you're there with me!”
Upon hearing her resolve to stay with him, he feels the need to renew his vow to her too--telling her that he'll always love her as well, and that his feelings have only grown since then. One important bit to note in his confession is that he fully admits he had a hard time coming to term with what he was, he's only a little more accepting of being a pureblood because her existence redefines what an eternity means to him. He explains that, while no end of time used to be an upsetting and hollow concept to him, the fact that his long life will be spent cultivating his love for her gives him the strength to face his reality.
They kiss and MC acknowledges that life--no matter how long--always has its ups and downs. Sometimes there will be rough times, like when those Mean Girls women were actively nasty and unfair to her. And sometimes there will be joyous times, like how Comte just repeated his vow to her so sweetly. But more than anything, it's important to live in the present moment as fully as possible, and she deepens her kiss with Comte accordingly.
After what I assume to be an excellent make out, they return to the venue and rejoin the group of vampires. Now then, because it's Comte and Comte refuses to take any shit he reveals his ace in the hand. Premeditated and all cunning expectation, the show begins:
After reaffirming our feelings for the other, we return to the hall. When we wandered around to greet people today, there were also vampires who were kind to me. For those that remain perturbed by my presence, they continue to sneer at me as though I were an eyesore.
[I don’t care. Comte’s by my side…]
Comte: “…That’s right, MC. There was one thing I forgot to mention.”
MC: “Huh?”
Comte: “A short while ago, you said something about doing your best to earn their approval. I wouldn’t even worry about it, you’re perfect just as you are. Everyone here just doesn’t have the slightest inkling as to your charms yet. For those with the ability to see, feel free to show them as many times as you like.”
MC: “Comte…”
At that very moment, a waltz begins to flow into the hall.
Comte: “Oh, is it time to dance already? MC, shall we?” (Oh Is It TiMe To DaNcE aLrEaDy, damn clown)
MC: “Yes.”
In time with the melody, we begin to waltz together. When I'd first arrived to this era, the steps and the dance itself were unfamiliar to me. Now when I dance with Comte it’s nearly effortless–natural as breathing.
[Comte has taken me to so many evening parties at this point. Thanks to his impeccable leading any uncertainty in my step is elegantly disguised.]
Comte: “MC.”
As we danced, he called my name--crooned it softly.
Comte: “…Have you noticed? Everyone is watching us.”
At the sound of this new information, I look around.
[Oh, it’s true–everyone really is looking at us…]
And it’s not like before, tinged with displeasure and contempt. It’s like they can’t look away from us now, dazzled and intrigued.
MC: “Makes sense–you’ve always been a very graceful dancer, Comte, it’s impossible not to find it captivating.”
Comte: “No. Without you as my partner, I can’t enjoy it nearly as much as I do now.”
He grins as he says so, the sentiment reflected in his buoyant step. Beautiful, noble…and above all, lively. Even though I’m always by his side, I remain endlessly captivated by that smile and movement.
Comte: “We are more in tune with each other than every other pair here, don’t you think?”
MC: “Haha, that’s right!”
I think le Comte is lovely no matter who he’s dancing with, but I’m sure I’m the one who gets along with him best–I think so, because his golden eyes reflect no one else but me.
[No matter what anyone says…I won’t give up this position to anyone else.]
When the song is over, and the dance is finished, the hall is filled with the raucous sound of applause and cheering. All these people are looking at us and their eyes are shining.
[I wonder…if maybe our feelings for each other were transmitted more clearly after that dance? The mere thought of it makes me feel ticklish and delighted.]
After their lovely display, the Mean Girls ladies approach MC to apologize as everybody is leaving for the night. MC accepts their apologies and says she wants to find a way to get along with them moving forward, though they're still pretty reluctant (probably only apologized to save face).
Differences in lifestyle and family tradition...I think there are many reasons why they can’t accept me. I don’t think it’s easy to understand the breadth of the gap between us; I’m sure I’ll need more time to be able to bridge those differences.
[I don’t know the way of life or struggle of the pureblood people yet. But…I want to understand.]
Even if we are endlessly different, I don’t want to give up on finding some sort of compromise. Next to me, le Comte smiles silently. For the foreseeable future--as long as it may take--I want to prove that I can make this person happy.
I deadass can't stop laughing at the fact of Comte standing next to MC all :)))))) (y'all he is emitting BOSS M U S I C)
After that, Comte and MC also head into their carriage and head home:
Comte: “MC, thank you.”
Le Comte remarks on the way home in the carriage.
MC: “…? I haven’t done anything worth thanks.”
Comte: “For today, for coming with me. And--up until now and from now on--for being by my side. I wanted to thank you again.”
He leans over from where he sits next to me and entwines our fingers together.
MC: “…Abel?”
Comte: “…Today is not just the day of the party, but our wedding anniversary too, right? From here on out, it’s time for only us two to be together.”
This is essentially where the premium story ends, and then it moves into the epilogue. I'll give some tidbits from the epilogue, just because it was so endlessly gratifying. Other than them having the smash of the century, it's mostly Comte going overstimulation feral service top. But there are so many really romantic moments during the shameless fking ;-;
The more he kisses me, the more my need for him spirals out of control. As if to entice him I twist my tongue with his deeper and deeper.
Comte: “MC…”
He exhales my name on a single heated syllable, and I can tell by the way he’s looking at me precisely what it is he wants.
Comte: “MC, what do you want to do…? I want to make you happy tonight. Do you want me to be kind? Or take you with reckless abandon?”
MC: “Abel…please do as you like. That’s what would make me happiest. :>”
Comte: “…I see. So you want to be made a mess of, is what you mean.”
MC: “Mn, aah–”
When his hands trace my sides seductively, my sensitive body reacts on it’s own.
Comte: “…You’re really cute, MC. Tonight, I’ll remind you the joy of being mine again.”
---
Comte: “Always so sensitive. Just the slightest touch, and you cry out with such a sweet voice…”
MC: “Well, it is your fault…”
[Because if Abel touches me like that…He spoils me and leaves me in an endless sea of pleasure, building up to that crest–fading–and building up again…because he loves me so dearly.]
Comte: “My fault, is it?…I like the sound of that.”
With a bewitching smile, he makes short work of his tie and button down. Even the most casual gestures like this are done with such grace that it becomes sensual. I’m drawn to the sight of him revealing more and more of his skin, thinking he’s far too much of a tease.
Comte: “…If you look at me with such desirous, greedy eyes, I’m going to lose control myself, MC.”
----
MC: “I…all I do is take from you…” I’m embarrassed because I’m so inexperienced that all I do is drown in the pleasure he gives me.
Comte: “…If you really think so, then you’re too unaware.”
MC: “Mn–ah, hah…”
Comte: “I’m the one who can’t stop wanting you…MC.”
When he leans over to murmur in my ear, his voice is suffused with desire–breathing shallow. From the gap between his lips, I can see the fangs which have never broken my skin…
MC: “Abel…do you want to bite me?”
If the answer is yes, then I’d be delighted. A vampire’s hunger for blood is often tied to romantic feeling. If he wants to suck my blood, then that’s all the more evidence that he loves me.
Comte: “That’s right. I want to sink my fangs into your soft skin…To taste your blood, to know your body and soul--I want to make every part of you mine.”
MC: “Mn…”
He drops a kiss to my throat, tickled by his tongue as he licks there–as if to taste me.
Comte: “But…”
Only I am reflected in his eyes.
Comte: “The only thing I want more than biting you is to take good care of you. I don’t want to impulsively take anything from you.”
MC: “Abel…”
....
Comte: “Someday…I will make you into a vampire. But, right now, I want you to stay exactly as you are.”
The heat of him coupled by that serious look...my heart is swept away.
Comte: “So…can you bear with my hesitation for just a little while longer?”
MC: “Yes…forever. I’ll always be yours.” I replied, wrapping my arms around his back. He squinted, as if he were staring at something dazzling.
Comte: “I’m always hesitating, but…MC. I will absolutely never let you go. I swear my love to you forever, my dear wife.”
----
The last part of the epilogue is confusing because I'm not sure if it's intended to be an actual dream or Comte just messing with her, but here goes:
[Morning already…?]
At the sensation of sunlight, I open my eyes.
MC: “Eh!?”
Comte: “Are you up, MC? The defenseless face you make when you’re asleep is adorable, but when you open your eyes and look at me that’s also lovely.”
He was lying in bed, unlike last night, wearing the same outfit he had on for our wedding.
[Ah, I’m most likely dreaming.] When I realize it, I get a ticklish feeling in my chest and can’t help the smile that finds my face.
MC: “Haha…”
Comte: “MC? What’s wrong?”
MC: “No, I was just thinking you really will always be by my side. I’m glad to see you in my dreams like this…I’m happy.”
Comte: “…Haha, that’s right. I’m happy too. But…it’s not always a dream right?”
MC: “Er…”
His voice easily makes my heart flutter, like sweet sake.
Comte: “Would you like to see if it’s a dream? …Once again, with your body.”
My heart thunders under his sultry gaze, covetous gold eyes beckoning me closer. (COME HITHER FUCK)
MC: “Yes, Abel. As many times as you like…take me.”
I know dream-like, impossibly happy days will continue as long as I stay by his side–

Why you should watch Young Royals
Introduction: Young Royals is a Swedish teen drama that was released by Netflix earlier this July; it consists of a season of six episodes, all about an hour each. It talks about Wilhelm, prince of Sweden, who gets sent to the fancy Hillerska boarding school after getting involved in a scandal; there he meets a hottie named Simon and let me tell you, things get really spicy from then on. Long story short: this show is a masterpiece and if you haven’t watched it already this is your sign to go and binge it. Immediately.
Reason number 1: we need a second season. So, as of now the show only has one season and there hasn’t been any talk of further seasons yet; clearly, Netflix will renew the show only if they realize that a lot of people like it and it will therefore be profitable to release more seasons, so if many people watch the show. Now, I’m not saying the show needs a second season exclusively because I loved it and want to watch more of it- I believe the show would be enriched by a second season. Now, at first I was really disappointed by the ending and that’s why I was hoping it actually wasn’t the end, but I’ve now realized that it’s actually quite a positive and satisfying ending: it marks the highest point of Wilhelm’s character development and gives a lot of hope for the future. But there is still a lot to discuss and explore, expecially in regards to Wilhelm furtherly coming to terms with his sexuality, confronting his mother about it, adapting to his new status etc. That is why a second season would add a lot to the show, and one of the main reasons why as many people as possible should watch it.
Reason number 2: teenagers who look like teenagers. A big issue I have with most teen dramas is that a lot of the time these characters that are supposed to be teenagers 1. look several years older than they should and 2. look like flawless supermodels. I remember always thinking there was something wrong with me because I looked so much younger and so much “uglier” than these “teenagers” I saw on tv- it made it hard for me to relate to them and hurt my self esteem terribly. But the beautiful thing about Young Royals is that this is not an issue- the actors all look their characters’ age and they look like actual, realistic teenagers. They don’t always have their make-up perfectly done or have perfect hair. Essentially no one is conventionally attractive (good-looking, yes- but not the super hot super model type).
Reason number 3: teenagers who act like teenagers. Another issue with teen dramas I have is that it seems the writers’ conception of teenage activities is just drugs, alcohol and sex. Sure, many teenagers actually do those things, but I always found the way these shows highlight them excessive and unrealistic. As someone who doesn’t do any of these things (and actually feels repulsed by them), it was always very alienating- again, I wasn’t able to relate to the characters and I felt like something was wrong with me for not acting like these teenagers. The quantity of drugs, sex, alcohol in these shows was always so much that at some point I felt overwhelmed by it and had to stop watching them, and I thought the same was going to happen with Young Royals- but it didn’t. The teenagers in Young Royals drink, do drugs, have sex, but it never feels excessive and unrealistic: I watch it, I think “Oh yeah, my classmates do that”, I recognise it as realistic, it doesn’t feel overwhelming, and there are characters who don’t do that stuff as much and that I can relate to.
Reason number 4: it’s delicate. As an easily impressionable person something that I love about Young Royals is that it’s almost never excessive, it never goes too far; for example, I was afraid that the amount of homophobia in the show would be too much and too triggering for me, but it wasn’t the case- there is homophobia, but it’s never overwhelming. And there was really only a scene or two in the whole show that made me so uncomfortable I had to turn my head. But unlike a lot of shows these days, it’s actually pretty delicate and moderate.
Reason number 5: a beautiful love story. Simon and Wilhelm are definitely one of the best couples I’ve seen on tv in a while. They are such a good representation of teenage love- passionate and hungry, but also sweet and naive and tender and shy. Everything about their relationship, from the first to the final episode, is completely realistic, beautiful but never eccessively romanticized, delicate and honest. You can just feel the love they have for each other through the screen- it’s heart warming.
Reason number 6: the characters. All of the characters appear as people that you might actually meet in real life. They are realistic and they are never caricatures- always complex, multi-dimensional, difficult to put in a box. Simon is selfless but also stands up to himself. Wilhelm is rebellious and brave but also anxious and submissive. Felice isn’t at all as snobby as she seems, August is a pain in the butt but as the story unfolds we almost end up feeling bad for him. And Sara- I’m not even going to talk about her, I don’t know what to say, she’s my favourite character, I love her to pieces and I LOVE that there is a neurodivergent character. And finally, each character’s character development is natural yet clearly recognisable- perfect, perfect, perfect.

Harry Styles x Fem!Reader Broadway AU
Summary: You’re forced to work with your famous ex boyfriend on Broadway.
Word Count: 3.7k+
Warnings: language
Author’s Note: Hi everyone! I’m extremely excited for this mini series. I’m still planning it out right now, but it shouldn’t be longer than 7-8 parts if it goes according to plan. I also know next to nothing about theater/Broadway. I was an athlete in high school and I can’t sing to save my life haha. So I apologize for any discrepancies. I’m trying my best here. Please let me know what you think! Enjoy!
here is the playlist to accompany the series!
Tumblr media
“Oh my gosh, Harry!” you shout, holding your face in your hands. You grin into your palms and heat spreads down your neck.
Harry laughs. You hear him walk towards you. His soft giggles touch the shell of your ear. He gently pulls your hands away from your face. He kisses your knuckles sweetly before pouting at you.
“Pretty, please, baby,” he begs softly. His hands gently hold yours.
“No. Absolutely not. I’m too embarrassed!”
He frowns, pulling you up from the chair you’re sat in. He sets your arms over his shoulders and you stand in the middle of his small private studio.
“You’re going to school for music ‘n you’re too shy to sing f’ me? Me? I’m your crazy talented boyfriend. We should be making duet cover albums right now.”
You whine, shaking your head at him. “Harry, this is different! We’ve been friends for so long and now that we’re dating, it’s different. You want me to sing on the back track of your first single as a solo artist. That’s a big deal. I can’t do that.”
Harry kisses you again and smiles. “Sure you can. ‘M asking you to. It won’t take long. The back track is the only thing missing.”
“I’m only doing one verse,” you argue, “and you’re doing the rest. You can’t watch me record it either. I can’t focus when you’re looking at me like that. Take it or leave it.”
Harry laughs, pulling you into his chest and he kisses you warmly. “If it’s the only way I get to hear you sing, I’ll take it.”
…
Jane had been acting weird since the moment she woke up. She didn’t return your quiet good morning as the two of you drink your morning coffees together. She wouldn’t look you in the eye when you asked if she was okay. It was weird to say the least. It was out of her character.
The two of you went to Northwestern’s Drama school and have been friends ever since. She was the voice of reason when you nearly turned down your first Broadway performance. She followed you three months later and you’ve lived together ever since.
It’s been nearly four years since the two of you moved to New York for Broadway. It was a weird transition at first. You moved from California, to Illinois, and finally to New York within five years and you wouldn’t have it any other way. You’re doing what you love and you wouldn’t trade it for a second. It was the prime reason you and your ex-boyfriend broke up.
It was a short relationship. It lasted the summer following your last year of college. You spent your last summer at home knowing you wouldn’t return. You had no idea you would be dating someone at that time. You broke the news that you would not be returning to California. You thought you’d be able to do long distance due to the nature of his job. You thought he would be thrilled for you. You were friends with his manager’s girlfriend and they were all happy for you. They knew how much you wanted to be on Broadway and away from California. You were meant for New York and everyone knew that.
He didn’t want to do long distance and you didnt want to give up your dream, so you broke up. It didn’t matter that he was one of your closest friends before you started dating. He knew you dreamed of being on Broadway and now that it was coming true, he wanted you to choose. It broke your heart, but you wouldn’t compromise and he wouldn’t either. It was okay for you to be selfish. You were following your dream.
The last you heard, he released a second album that is no doubt successful. You have no desire to listen to it. It would open old wounds. You were too stubborn and proud and didn’t care to listen to what you’ve heard is a great album.
“Are you sure you’re okay, Jane? You’re being weird and not acting like yourself,” you tell her with genuine concern as the two of you walk down the street towards the back lot of the theater.
“Have you heard the news?” Jane asks you, avoiding your question entirely. You swipe your electronic key to the theater on the keypad attached to the back door. You open the door and step inside. Jane follows behind you and shuts the door behind her.
Your brows crease in confusion and you turn to look at her. “What news? What are you talking about?”
Jane’s face noticeably falls. Her brown eyes widen and she nervously scratches the back of her neck. You know that reaction like the back of your hand. She just asked you a question about something you knew nothing about. You were in the dark and she shouldn’t have asked you. She lets out a careful breath before speaking again, “They stunt casted Raoul.”
Your heart drops. Why didn’t the director or the casting director tell you? Why didn’t John tell you? You had grown quite close to your on-stage love interest and he didn’t have the courtesy to tell you he was leaving the show. You worked together on the show for nearly a year and now you have to start over entirely with whoever took his place.
It wasn’t easy getting comfortable with John. You hadn’t had a big lead like Christine before. You were a supporting character in all the shows you were in up until last year. John showed you the ropes. He helped you gain confidence in your ability to play a lead. Now you’re going to have to rebuild the chemistry with whoever took his place.
Now that she mentions it, you’re going to have to work with a pretentious celebrity. You’ve only been in one other show when they’ve stunt casted a character. It didn’t go over well. He was demanding and hard to work with. It was the longest nine weeks of your life. You hate when shows stunt cast.
You groan, rolling your eyes. “Great. Do you know who it is?”
Jane laughs nervously. She bites the inside of her cheek. She avoids your gaze and fumbles with her phone. “Unfortunately I do.”
You raise a brow at her. It makes you anxious because of her nervous tone. She doesn’t want to tell you. In the eight years you’ve known each other, she hasn’t kept a secret from you. She won’t start now. “Why do you sound like you’re about to break bad news to me? Who is it?”
You gently reach for her arm and the two of you stop in the narrow hallway backstage and Jane’s brown eyes meet yours. She takes a careful breath in before speaking, “They stunt casted Harry.”
Your eyes widen and you gasp. The wind is knocked out of you. You can barely breathe. You grab on the wall for support. Jane frowns. “I overheard Frank and Nancy talking about it yesterday when I was in the green room grabbing my phone. He must’ve done a video audition since we’ve been here every day this past week. Today’s his first day. I wanted to tell you last night, but I wasn’t sure how. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you earlier.”
You swallow hard and shake off the shock. You stand up straight and let out a puff of air. You start walking down the hall towards your dressing room. “It’s fine,” you respond. “It’s been years. I’m different and so is he. Besides, he won’t be here very long. Frank will be looking to cast his replacement while he’s here anyway.”
You push open the door to your dressing room and Jane follows closely behind you. Jane nearly steps on your heels when you stop in the middle of the doorway. She peeks around your arm and her eyes widen.
Your eyes meet Harry’s and it’s clear he’s just as shocked to see you as you are of him. He clearly didn’t anticipate your reunion to be so soon. You swallow hard and step into the room. You drop your bag on your makeup table and turn to face him. You reach for your script and hold it to your chest. Your water bottle dangles from your fingers. Your eyes meet Jane’s quickly as she stands frozen in the middle of the doorway looking between you and Harry.
You cough uncomfortably and force a smile on to your face as you stare at Harry. “Hi, Harry,” you greet him. “It’s good to see you.”
Harry blinks before standing up from his chair. He takes a small step towards you and you raise a brow at him questionably. He doesn’t take another step. He knows better than to try and hug you. He smiles uncomfortably and rings his fingers together. He fiddles with his rings and you hate that you know that it’s a nervous habit of his.
“Hey,” he says, biting the inside of his cheek anxiously. “It’s nice to see you. You look good.”
You nod uncomfortably and scratch at your arm. “Well, um, we should go to the stage. They’ll be expecting us and they need to introduce you to the rest of the cast.”
“Right, right,” he nods. His eyes move towards Jane. Her arms are crossed and she’s glaring at him. “Hi, Jane.”
“Harry,” she spat as you tug on her arm and pull her out of the room, leaving Harry behind.
You let out a careful breath and shake out your shoulders as you make your way to the stage. You ignore Jane’s swears and grumbles as you pull her along with you. You just need to get through today. It will get easier as time goes on. You haven’t seen him in four years. Everything will be fine.
You sit down on stage and pull Jane down with you. She huffs and Aaron nudges you gently. You turn your attention on him and he nods at Jane.
“What’s up with Jane?” Aaron asks you, leaning back on his hands.
“She’s just being Jane,” you answer vaguely, rubbing your hands on your thighs anxiously. Your eyes linger on the side of the stage, anticipating Harry’s inevitable arrival. You hate it.
Harry walks on stage behind Frank, the director of the show, a few seconds later. The cast murmurs and gasps at the sight of him and all you want to do is shrivel up and die. You avoid his gaze. You stare down into your lap awkwardly.
Frank claps his hands together and you look up to watch him. “As you may have heard, John has made the decision to leave the show. As sad as it is, it has given us as a company to work with none other than the fabulous Harry Styles in the meantime,” he exclaims. It makes your blood boil and you grit your teeth. “He will be with us for the next six weeks as Raoul. We want him to feel at home while he’s here, so don’t be shy and introduce yourselves. As of right now, however, I want Aaron and Y/n to work with Harry. Everyone else knows what to do.”
You resist the urge to pout and groan. It’s not Frank’s fault. You have to remind yourself of that. No one knows that you used to date Harry. He’s an incredibly private person and it was no exception while you were dating. It’s not like you wanted to broadcast you were an ex of his either. You’re not Kendall Jenner or Taylor Swift, so why would anyone care? You’re nothing compared to the celebrities he’s dated or has been linked to in the past.
Jane squeezes your hand in silent support before running off to work on her lines. Aaron helps you up from the floor and you walk towards Harry with Aaron at your side. You ignore Harry’s lingering eyes.
“It’s so nice to meet you,” Aaron introduces himself, shaking Harry’s hand. “Your new album is fantastic. I’m super excited to work with you, and I’m sure Y/n is too.”
“Thank you, I’m excited as well. I’ve never thought I’d be on Broadway. It was always Y/n’s thing, anyway,” Harry replies.
Your eyes widen and you swallow hard. Shit. Now they know that you know Harry. This is already turning into a disaster. You want nothing more than to strangle Harry.
“Oh?” Aaron turns to look at you. You wipe your hands against the sides of your jeans nervously. “You never told me you knew Harry, Y/n.”
You laugh uncomfortably. You bite the inside of your cheek and let out an anxious breath. You need to save your ass. You have to for the sake of the show. They don’t need to know that you used to date. They don’t need to know that Harry broke your heart.
“It’s never come up in conversation,” you respond easily. “I’m friends with his manager’s girlfriend. That’s how we know each other. I haven’t seen him in forever. It’s been four years since we’ve seen each other.”
Your eyes flicker towards Harry. His eyes are trained on you and you can’t decipher the look on his face. You’re not exactly lying, but you’re not telling the full truth either.
Yes, you are friends with Glenn. Yes, you haven’t seen him in forever.
No one has to know you used to go to his house and kiss the famous Harry Styles senseless, least of all your co-star and director.
“Sweet,” Aaron replies. He laughs and turns to Harry again. “You’ll have to give me all the dirt you have on her later. I don’t buy the fact that she doesn’t like New York Style pizza.”
You resist the urge to elbow Aaron in the gut. Harry could potentially air out all your dirty laundry if he wanted to. All Aaron has to do is ask.
Harry laughs uncomfortably. “Yeah—”
“Not that I don’t enjoy the fact that the three of you are already getting along, but we have a lot to do today,” Frank interrupts, placing a gentle hand on your shoulder. It makes you jump. Your nervousness is out of this world.
“Right, right, sorry,” Harry apologizes.
You tune out immediately. Your eyes drift up to the ceiling as Frank talks. Blood rushes through your ears and you have to remind yourself that Harry’s only here for six weeks. It’s just six weeks. You can survive six weeks. He’ll be gone soon enough and you’ll go back to never thinking about him. Hopefully you won’t run into him four years from now. He’ll disappear out of your life in six weeks. It’ll be fine.
“Y/n, I want you to start from the beginning with Harry. We’ll work our way up to blocking next week and have a dress rehearsal before his debut. It’ll be a very long, tiring week, but I have faith in you. Start with the scenes with just the two of you and we’ll work our way up from there. Let me know when you’ve warmed up so I can be there. Julie is waiting for you in rehearsal room two.”
You nod slowly and you walk off stage towards the rehearsal room. Harry follows behind you and you step inside the room. Harry shuts the door and you hug Julie.
“Hi, Harry. I’m Julie, one of the vocal coaches on staff. I’ll be helping you get acquainted with Y/n’s vocal abilities so you know when to project. I know this is redundant, but Broadway is an art within itself. It’s much different from what you’re used to.”
Harry nods, shaking her hand before opening his script. You take a quick peek and notice that it’s already marked up. At least he’s prepared.
“I’m excited to learn,” Harry tells her with an eager smile. “I’m a fast learner.”
“Good, now let’s warm up.”
You set your script and water bottle down before shaking out your hands. You let out a nervous breath and ignore Harry’s lingering gaze.
In the short time you were with Harry, you were too bashful and insecure to sing in front of him. He’s the rockstar. He’s the celebrity with millions of adoring fans. He’s worshiped and you are not.
Your insecurities always got the better of you. You knew you were talented. You went to one of the best theater schools in the country. However, you actively avoided singing around Harry while you were dating. It didn’t matter that you could sing circles around him. He was the one with the fame and following. You were a broke college graduate.
You start to warm up and avoid looking over at Harry as you sing. You stop when Julie says your name. Harry approaches you and you start to warm up together.
You warm up for another five minutes before Julie stops you. You take a drink of water before grabbing your script. The door opens and you turn to look behind you.
Frank enters with Aaron behind him.
“Let’s start in the middle of Think of Me, right before Raoul enters,” Julie states.
You nod and Harry reaches for his script. He flips through the pages and Julie sits down at the piano. Her eyes flicker towards Harry.
“Remember, this is the first time Raoul sees Christine since they were children. He’s enamored by her, so you need to convey that in your singing.”
Harry nods and Julie starts to play the piano. You start to sing and Harry’s eyes soften as he looks at you. You’re clearly more comfortable than he is. You’re in your element. He is not.
Harry misses his cue and you turn to look at him. The piano stops and Harry’s face flushes an embarrassing shade of pink.
“Sorry, sorry,” he apologizes. “I’m a bit nervous.”
Your brows crease in disbelief. You don’t believe him. There’s only five of you in the room. He’s performed in front of hundreds of thousands of fans and he’s nervous now? You don’t buy it.
Julie starts the piano again and you start over. He starts to sing and your eyes meet his. You sing again until Frank cuts you off.
It’s obvious that he notices how tense you are. You’re staring at Harry like you want to kill him. You’re not looking at him like Christine would be looking at Raoul when they see each other for the first time after so many years apart. You don’t feel an ounce of love or compassion for him, and it’s conveyed on your face.
“Listen, I know Harry’s taking John’s place and it’s only natural that you miss him, but we don’t have time for an awkward stage. You need to be comfortable with Harry. I know you can do it. Let’s try All of Ask of You.”
You grit your teeth, resisting the urge to snap at your director. You force yourself to relax and shake away your anger. You set your script down on top of the piano and turn towards Harry. He flips through his script again and Julie starts playing the piano.
Harry’s eyes meet yours and he briefly looks down at his script before he starts to sing. It makes you feel weird. You hadn’t sang together while you were dating and now you’re being forced to as exes.
You relax your shoulders and your fiery gaze as you sing. It makes your heart race as you look at each other and you hate it. You absolutely hate it. You’re singing about love and always being there for each other, something your relationship with Harry lacked in the first place.
The song ends and you turn to look over at Frank and Aaron. Frank claps, clearly happy with how the two of you sang. It was definitely better than before. You swallow hard and drink your water.
“Great start. I’m happy with the progress. I know that it’s only day one, but we have ten days until Harry’s debut and it’ll fly by. These next ten days are going to be very long and very tiring, but it’ll be worth it in the end. I want the two of you to spend some time together outside the theater. Aaron told me that you do know each other, but you need to be comfortable enough to sell that your characters are in love. Keep in mind, you kiss about five or six times throughout the show. It’ll help the character’s chemistry if the two of you get reacquainted off stage.”
You resist the urge to scoff. You don’t need reminding that you have to kiss Harry. The last  thing you want is to kiss your ex boyfriend, but you have to. Now it’s your job.
You nod and so does Harry. Frank and Aaron leave and you tune out Julie again.
You do as you’re told. You help Harry when you need to as you get comfortable singing with him. It takes much longer than you anticipated and you try your best not to snap at him. Julie doesn’t need to know that Harry is your ex boyfriend.
When it’s time for lunch, you disappear to find Jane. You find her in your dressing room waiting for you. You pull your coat on and grab your purse.
“Ready?” Jane asks you.
“God, yes. I need a drink,” you tell her.
Jane laughs, shaking her head at you. “It’s only 11:30.”
You roll your eyes at her. “It’s five o’clock somewhere.”
“It was that bad?”
“Don’t even get me started,” you roll your eyes.
You walk out of your dressing room and nearly run into Harry. You stumble back into Jane and Harry reaches for your shoulders to steady you. You glare at him and pull away from his touch.
You step around Harry and he says your name softly. “Where are you going?”
“Lunch. I’ll be back in an hour.”
You walk out of the theater with Jane at your side. You let out a loud sigh of relief. “Jesus, this is going to be the longest six weeks of my life.”
Jane laughs loudly as the two of you walk down the street to your favorite deli.

Part1 >> Part3
Tumblr media
Felix couldn't say a word, he was amazed. How can someone be this beautiful ?
"You're Lee Felix right ?" Omg she knows who I am-
"Well let me make this clear." Oh oh..
"I hate people like you, who thinks they can do everything because they have money. People are maybe scared of you, but I'm not. So don't try me."
Felix looks at you, his mouth slightly open. She hates me...
"you're really pretty."
"what d'you say ?"
"I said, you're really pretty." Felix leans on the back of his chair, looking at you. "So you know who I am uh? Great ! Then how about we got out together after school?"
You look at Felix. The heck is he doing? You lean on your forearm, looking at Felix as well.
"Well how about..... No :)"
"Okay ! Then that's a date- wait what ?"
Felix loses his cocky smile as you reject him.
"I said, no :)" you smile at him. "Why the hell would I go out with a bully ?"
"A-a bully ??" Felix looks at you in disbelief. Me ? A bully ?? Come on it's not that bad, calling me a bully
You get up to go to the blackboard and Felix gets a good look at you. Damn, she really is perfect...
You get back to your sit and Felix turns to you. "What can I do for you to like me ?"
"What ?"
"You clearly hate me, so what can I do for you to like me !"
Felix seems really desperate and ready to do anything.
"Well, first you can... Apologize to the people you've hurt."
Felix looks at you in the eyes.
Uh ?..
"Why would I apologise for anything ?? I did nothing wrong, tf." Felix says to his friends, sitting on the benches of the gym.
"Yeah, we're just joking around, we don't have to do anything for her" Jaemin says.
"Yeah, I thought about it all night and I'm like, why should I try so hard for her to like me??" Felix says as you enter the gym.
And again, the lights hugs your curve, your hair tyed in a high ponytail, flowing as you jog to your new friends, Eunbin and Chanhee.
"So Y/N, has he bothered you again since this morning ?" Eunbin says.
"No, he gave up when I asked him to apologise, apparently it's too hard for him-"
"I'll apologise." Felix says, now standing next to you.
Chanhee looks at him. "W-what ?"
Felix turns to Chanhee, looking very serious and... Genuinely sorry ?
"I'll start with you, Chanhee." Felix looks down at his feet. "Honestly, I was jalous. You were outgoing, popular, handsome... I thought that if I bullied you, people would start to think you're not so cool... I was wrong." Felix looks at Chanhee's eyes. "I know that I've hurt you, a lot, and that not a single apology could ever be enough for you to forgive me. I know that you've changed too, you're shy, and scared, because of me... But everyone still likes you, so I was wrong, people didn't like you because you were cool, they liked you because you were nice, and true to yourself... And a great friend too..."
At this point, Chanhee had tears falling down his face, shocked at what he was hearing. So that's it ? He won't bother me again ? I don't have to be scared anymore ?
Felix continues, handing Chanhee a tissue. "I'm not asking you to forgive me, but I want you to know that I really am sorry. Sorry, Choi Chanhee.."
You and Eunbin looks at Felix and Chanhee, completely shocked. Eunbin goes to Chanhee and hug him, taking him to the benches to calm down. You turn to Felix.
"Woaw, I didn't think you would..."
"Apologise? Well, I thought about it, and at first I hated the idea, and then you entered the gym, and I thought 'if this goddess right there is telling me to apologise, then maybe I should, and own up to what I did.'"
You giggle a bit, this guy is a weird one
"You're right Y/N, I did bully a lot of people, mostly because I was jalouse, and also because I wanted to be feared and respected. So now, when I approach people, they think I'm gonna beat them up, and they run away, so... Could you help me ?"
"W-what do you want me to-"
"Eat with me at lunch, maybe people will think I'm not that bad if you hang out with me?"
"hmmm is this a trick for me to eat with you ?" You suspiciously look at him.
He pretends to think, and looks at you.
"Maybe ?" He giggles "let's say that it's just a bonus?"
You sigh "Okay, I'll eat with you. But that's it, after that, you deal with it yourself."
And that's exactly what he did. You and Felix ate together at lunch, to the surprise of the school. And his plan actually worked, people seemed to be more comfortable around him and actually let Felix approach them to apologise. Of course, they were still scared that this was a new way for them to trust Felix and get stabbed in the back, but that was still a step further.
Felix was alone in the classroom on his phone, waiting for his friends. He heard the door sliding, he quickly turns around, thinking it could be you, but made eye contact with Chanhee instead.
"Oh, Hi Chanhee, what are you doing here ?"
Chanhee seemed stressed and anxious about being alone with Felix. "I-i hum-uh, I just w-wanted to say-"
"Hey, breath" Felix gets up, putting his hands up "I won't do anything to you, I promise, okay ? What I said was true, but I understand that you're still uncomfortable around me-"
"P-please, don't hurt Y/N !" Chanhee says, maybe a little too loud. "I don't know what you're trying to do here, but don't hurt her, okay !?" Chanhee says, fists clenched and eyes closed.
"I like Y/N." Felix says
Chanhee open his eyes, looking at Felix "W-what ?"
"But keep it a secret please ! I didn't really told her yet... I said she was pretty but that's it... Also I think she hates me..." Felix says, holding the back of his neck, he's embarrassed
"Y-you like her?"
Felix seemed hesitant. "Chanhee, can I... Tell you something crazy ?" He looks at Chanhee.
Chanhee nods.
"I don't know why, but everytime I see her, it's like there's nothing else around, like if the time stops, the lights focuses on her and her only. She looks so perfect, almost godlike." Felix looks at Chanhee's eyes "Like if she was sent here for..me ? I know it's selfish, but I feel like it's a sign, maybe she's here to put me in the right path ? Could that be-"
"Maybe she's your soulmate." Chanhee says, more relaxed.
"m-my soulmate?"
"Yeah, and now that you're with her, you don't feel any bad energies."
Felix stares at Chanhee. "That could be it..."
Could she be my soulmate ? So I'm her soulmate too ?
Felix smiles at himself, happy at the thought that you and him could be connected in any way.
"Chanhee,"
"H-hm?.."
"Do you know where Y/N is right now?"
"S-she's probably handing home by now, why?"
Felix takes his bag and run out the classroom.
At the school entrance, Felix looks among the students for your silhouette, and starts to feel a instinct.
I know where she is.
He starts to run down the street, she's not far..
A few minutes later, he finally sees you, waiting for you bus. As you're about to get in, he grabs your arm, out of breath.
"Felix ?? What are you- why are you- did you run here?"
Felix takes some moments to recuperate. "I... I need to... Tell you something..."
You and Felix sit at the bus stop, looking at the road. Felix speaks up.
"It's gonna sound crazy, but since you've been here, I keep feeling this kind of weird-"
"Connection?"
Felix quickly turns to you.
"You too ??"
You look at Felix. "... No :), but I knew you would say some cheesy stuff like that."
So maybe she's not my soulmate ?...
"Then, what am I feeling-"
"Love."
Felix's heart skips a beat, it beat so fast and so hard you can almost hear it.
Love.. could it be?
"when you love someone, you're ready to do anything for them. Now why would you love me is the question, but no one can predict or explain emotions. It just happens."
Felix looks at his hands.
"So.. you're not mad ?..."
"Why would I be mad ?"
"Because you hate me... And I love you..."
You look at Felix face, he seems so... Small, sad, almost fragile. 'I love you'...
"Like I said, no one can predict their feelings, so no, I'm not mad. We don't even know if it's love or not-"
"No, I know.." Felix looks at you in the eyes. "I love you."
Felix's heart is beating a hundred miles an hour right now. He wants to hold your hand and kiss you deeply, he can't help the feeling of lust he has for you, almost as strong as his love.
Your bus arrives, you get up and turn to Felix. "I do hate you right now, Felix. So don't do anything weird, got it?"
"I'll do everything I can for you to love me back"
You laugh "Well good look with that." As you go up the bus strairs, you hear Felix call your name.
"Y/N!"
You turn to Felix.
"See you tomorrow" he says as he flashes you a cocky smile.
You swallow and turn back to get a sit in the bus.
You hate me 'right now'... So you could love me later, right ?

aight aight, real shit; let's say you got the chance to rewrite the entirety of gossip girl exactly how you want. make a brief description of what would happen in each season. (you can decide whether there's a fourth season or not)
oh i LOVE this ask, and i am so flattered to be asked this, haha. i have SO many thoughts, i’ve been thinking about this non-stop, but i’ll try to be as brief as possible. also, disclaimer, i don’t remember all the seasons equally clearly. like i barely remember s2. haha, whoops.
season 1: i love this season as is, for the most part. i think the tone of it was actually very serious and involved? like the show was actively trying not to be frivolous with heavy topics, and the way we were getting to see the characters seemed like they were trying to bring out character depth and the complexities of their lives in very deliberate ways. nate’s whole thing with his parents gets so much focus, and it’s not something the show glorifies, it’s something that is meant to make you uncomfortable and worried for him.
i would have nate be less of a dudebro, jenny & nate’s friendship being a little more solid, dan being a little more involved in jenny’s problems + helping her find her space, vanessa/nate to happen earlier - after nate breaks up w/ blair and realises she looks happier, i would have him not try and get back with her (lol, dude, the fact that she’s happy after breaking up with you means you probably shouldn’t be dating her.) more exploration of eric’s mental health. more dan and blair friendship. i would keep chair the way it is this season. i would not have a derena breakup - i’d have them take a break after the georgina reveal and get back together during the summer after talking about it and deciding to be more honest & open with each other. and, what the hell, i would have lily not blame serena (???) for being taken advantage of in the whole pete fairman situation. serena wasn’t sober, she was 16, that dude was in his 30s, georgina was taping her w/o her consent. how is any of this serena’s fault??? i hate lily’s reaction so much.
season 2: i... don’t remember enough of this season, sadly. it’s been too long since i watched it. i would majorly change jenny’s arc here, though. eleanor stealing her dress was majorly, majorly fucked up, and i think jenny should’ve done something then and there. also the whole thing with ‘lily is a mother to chuck’.... i would’ve loved it if lily had been like that to jenny. the girl needed it, and lily would’ve actually been able to help jenny establish connections in the professional world and whatnot. i think jenny should’ve transferred out of constance - not necessarily homeschooling maybe, but gone somewhere else. unlike dan, she didn’t even want to get into an ivy, she wanted to make it big as a designer. so. that.
oh nate my love. i’d get this trainwreck of a boy some therapy. while i hate that the catherine thing happened, things like that do happen all the time, and i’d be interested in sort of handling the aftermath of it in a responsible way. i would not have... a lot of serena’s arc and decisions (from what i can remember) were really random in this season. i’d have her break up with dan at some point. and vanessa would need a new subject for her short film, and she’d choose serena.
nate doesn’t really date anyone, this season. but he and jenny open up to each other abt having gay crushes on people who treat you like shit - jenny’s thing with agnes - nate rescues her when they’re taking those pictures in her flat and let’s say she doesn’t go back to agnes. instead of kissing her, nate talks to her instead, and tells her about carter, tells her about chuck. and jenny talks about her feelings for blair, her feelings for agnes. and both of them sort of go... “it sucks, but all we can do is try not to become the kind of people we hate, right?”
dan pines for nate. majorly. massively. obviously. i think the only person who really notices is blair, and this would lead to new hijinks and shenanigans. also!! i do not want chair in s2. maybe it can go there for a bit but definitely not to the extent in canon. i want blair to have the same moment of being unable to deny her cruelty / needing to be accountable that she did in that ‘age of dissonance’ play. and. this sounds fucky but i want the dan/rachel stuff to stay as it is, and later, in s4, for dan & serena to talk about rachel & ben respectively and be like ‘hey, this was a fucked up thing to happen to us, wasn’t it?’
i would also like to get to know blair’s “minions” better as people. i mean. they all seemed hella fascinating to me, and the show’s decision to make them superficial and unidimensional was very depressing.
season 3: hot garbage, throw canon away. when chuck goes away to paris or wherever, let him not come back. goodbye, dude! dan, blair & vanessa friendship at nyu is so, so important to me. also im losing my mind always at how vanessa and serena catch dan on that walk of shame and they’re both like ‘college is a time for experimentation!’ and nobody does anything even slightly bisexual (unless you count that threesome later, which, blah.) a serenessa / date dynamic in college would’ve been great. dan transferring to columbia like blair does and rooming with nate and just, the gayness of it all. dan & blair become really, really close, and d&b&v watch movies + go to art exhibits together and are all SO DAMN PRETENTIOUS. serena finds it sexy, nate finds it terrifying.
the william stuff would be interesting if he were actually held accountable. like that man has no right being a doctor, and medical malpractice needs to be brought up. and jenny’s whole arc this season makes me so sad. i think it would’ve been interesting if she’d been a ‘queen’ and ruled alongside eric, and just, the two of them forcing people to be nice, sort of like they try to do with people who are mean to nelly in s2 i think it is? but also.. jenny out of constance is very good, and i think i mentioned that earlier, haha, whoops.
season 4 : serenessa breakup, for whatever reason, probably to do with the william fuckery, because i think vanessa would react in similar ways to nate (”serena, i know he’s your dad, but we have to do the right thing” / “it still wasn’t your call to make” / “he’s a certified doctor, serena, a man like that has no right -” / “god vanessa, you really don’t get it, do you?” ). uhhh i would actually... if i had to choose i would honestly go blairnessa >>>>> dair. i love how blair & vanessa can keep each other on their toes and hold each other accountable. like? blair’s classist or racist and dan’s just like, *smiles*. vanessa would actively be like ‘hey, stop that.’ (this is one of the few actual criticisms i have about d/b as a relationship, RIP.)
(edited to add: yeah, i think blairnessa WOULD be a sustainable relationship, more abt that here! )
yes to the milo arc, but dan gets to keep milo (his friends threaten georgina and go all ‘you made him sign the certificate. don’t make us take you to court’ because i love these morally grey assholes but also because g DID trick dan into thinking milo was his and dan was ready to reshape his whole life around that kid which is more than georgina was willing to do. plus endgame: jack/georgina are not parents i want milo to have.) i would also have more of a rufus & dan fallout over the milo thing. i think rufus would be really nasty about it all tbh.
the dair arc for blair and vanessa! let the juliet stuff happen, but let it be less awful + let it be seen as Bad + let serena get help & not forgive her for it. let serena NOT date ben after, what the hell. i want d&s to talk about their shared feelings for high school teachers and to realise, in retrospect, as adults, that what happened was crossing lines. let blair and vanessa suddenly drop dan and do the movies + galleries stuff on their own. and dan’s like ??? but he’s busy being a parent with nate supporting him. dan’s drama is very much parenting things. there would be some nonsense involving nate’s family pushing back, because ‘we stood by while you dated him, nate, we thought it was a phase. but raising a child with another man? this is unacceptable.’ i would like nate to get disowned by the family, and need to find his own feet. and to get a REAL SHOT AT HAPPINESS away from that terrible environment.
season 5: i want this to be a good serena season. let her find her calling doing creative things. let her and carter travel the world. let her just be whoever she wants to be. let her and vanessa patch their friendship up. let her have an open relationship with carter, let her have a lot of sex with a lot of random people and not feel guilty about it. let her really really blossom. i want more eric! maybe he’s in london with jenny, and she’s working on her fashion stuff, and he’s realising that he really wants to be a counsellor.
some time-skips, maybe. i really want to see dan’s whole thing of being a parent. sending milo to kindergarten and spending the whole time milo’s gone on edge and anxious about everything that could go wrong, while nate comforts him. let nate try to get a job because he no longer has a trust fund, and navigate everything that comes with that. let vanessa be there for him. why the fuck am i phrasing my sentences like this - can you tell that i studied physics once?? oh well.
blair & vanessa handling a lot of things. vanessa meeting harold!! vanessa’s parents being disapproving of blair, but ruby standing up for her. blair & vanessa planning their future properly. blair & vanessa babysitting milo and talking about kids.
and there can be drama too, there should always be drama. but i would like wholesome stuff at the centre of it too, you know? the ivy/lola nonsense can go on in the background, i don’t actually care that much. as long as ivy doesn’t go around fucking people’s fathers for no understandable or discernable reason, i don’t really care lkdhlfdkhg. (it was just so inexplicable and so random!)
season 6: uh, i don’t know. this was a bad season for everyone in canon, except chuck. i would throw it all away. i would actually love if we had pre-series rufly instead: every time those two bring up their past together i’m like 👀 because it sounds like a dream. or focus entirely on jenny and eric and their life. i am obsessed with jenny and eric being... sort of queerplatonic, sort of like, best friends. there’s no romance and no sex between them (eric’s canonically gay, and jenny’s a lesbian because i said so) but i think the way jenny and eric are is very, very life partners in a way that isn’t romantic OR sexual. so they’d have a little place together and would support each other. and just. what are they up to now? also. kati, iz, penelope, hazel, nelly... what r they doing now? one of the few things i actually liked about s6 as it was was that nelly was that reporter and that she’d found her people in yale. nelly yuki getting a happy and fulfilling ending and being a successful woman was so good and we actually got a little bit of that. i’d like more of that, for the rest of the girls, you know?

Hey how's about Neptune for the asks? :)
Alrighty, Neptune is the last character ask I have in my inbox. If anyone is interested in hearing my thoughts on any other character, feel free to send them in!
My top three ships for the character
Neptune/Jaune is probably my favorite ship for him, I think they could be cute and they’d have a good relationship, and I think he’d help Neptune loosen up and stop trying so hard to be cool. Neptune/Sun is my second favorite ship for him. Although I see them as best friends for life, I also think they could be really nice together and there is some very cute fan art of these two. Also, Ren/Neptune could be really cute, if Neptune has done some maturing, I could see them connecting in Vacuo. (Honorable mention to Weiss/Neptune, who would’ve made this list, if their ‘love triangle’ hadn’t been done with so much cringe.)
My three least favorite ships for the character
Neptune/Ruby is kinda... Weird, just because of how young Ruby often acts. Neptune/Blake. I don’t think Neptune and Blake would ever have feelings for each other. And Neptune/Ilia. Even putting aside the fact that she’s a lesbian and I headcanon Neptune as gay, she’s clearly uncomfortable with his advances and he apparently has no awareness of when to back off, so... Yeah. This one feels kinda icky to me.
My biggest criticism for the character
I was going to talk about how some of the humor surrounding him is cringe as it is with Sun, or how he and Sun don’t ever get new outfits, but guys, I have to talk about the flirting. The flirting with Weiss? Not a problem, Weiss is clearly receptive, she and Neptune do have at least some level of chemistry, Weiss shows no signs of being uncomfortable. Even his ‘what a woman’ line with Yang is (imo) totally fine, they’re both casually flirty and Yang didn’t seem uncomfortable with Neptune at all either, and there’s nothing wrong with casually flirty characters. But Neptune flirting with Team NDGO and making sexual innuendos and making advances on Ilia when she clearly looks uncomfortable... These were obviously not well received and Neptune just kept flirting. That’s bad. I love Neptune, but this writing is jacked. Men wrote him to make women uncomfortable without it being treated as a real problem his character overcomes (while we’re on that subject, Jaune has the same problem with Weiss and just because he ‘moved on’ to Pyrrha when he thought Weiss had ‘chosen Neptune’ doesn’t mean he was ever shown on screen to realize that pestering women who make it clear they’re not interested is wrong.) I love Neptune, but if they weren’t going to make him a bigger character who had an arc and learned to not make sexual innuendos to women suggesting they’re going to try and use a professional fight to assault him and then wink at them when they show clear displeasure with his gross attempts at ‘flirting’... Then they should’ve just not done that! Because it wasn’t funny, or cute, or cool, or playful like the RWBY writers had clearly thought it was.
My favorite thing about the character
His friendship with Sun. I honestly love the fact that Sun has this dorky, intellectual, tries too hard, ‘super cool’ friend. Neptune seems to hold Sun back some and doesn’t seem to take things as serious as even Sun does, letting his (if what I’ve heard from the books is true) very valid phobia impact his performance and even impact whether or not he goes with Sun to Menagerie. But at the same time, those flaws don’t mean he isn’t a good friend. We see from the start that he’s a good listener, he’s supportive and understanding and loyal, willing to follow Sun (as he follows Blake) into crazy adventures and up onto ledges. They joke around, they get each other, and the fact that they’re independent and can survive without each other only makes them a healthier dynamic. Also, Sun clearly opens up to him and is very comfortable talking to Neptune about his feelings towards Blake in volume 6 and they had a good scene together there. Gosh, I miss these two. (Honorable mention to Neptune’s hints of anxiety and how stressed he can get. I’m very easily stressed out and anxious myself and it’s nice to see a character that seems to be incredibly stressed himself while still being a cool character who is friendly that people like.)
A headcanon I have about them
Blake knowing about Neptune’s fear of the water makes me think that she had hung out quite a bit with at least Neptune. I love the idea of them being friends themselves, connecting and sharing a lot of similarities even if they seem totally different from first glance. They totally spent hours talking Sun’s ear off about various books while he just tried to follow along because he loves them and wants to share their interests.
What I would change about them if I was making a re-write
I’ve been thinking a lot about Neptune lately and how I’d change him. First off, I’d keep him casually flirty, but throw out him going too far since it makes me uncomfortable. And I think I would feature him in Mistral and have him reconnect with the mains. I think that for what the show was in Volumes 1-3, Neptune having a more comical, casual character was fine and fun and didn’t throw off the tone, but that he’d need some adjusting to fit into RWBY in the future, and I also think Mistral needed to be more fleshed out and that RNJR and Oscar/Oz needed more time and more to do there. If Team RNJR had met up with Neptune and the rest of his team (though obviously Sage and Scarlet wouldn’t be very featured) and heard from them about the shady things going on in Mistral, that could be good. I’d have the mains spend some time ‘working under Lionheart’ as he tries to get rid of them before Cinder makes her deal with Raven and that would include them doing missions with Neptune. He would be more serious and mature than before, telling them Sun is with Blake in Menagerie, and tell them about how bad things have gotten in Mistral which they would see themselves as they take missions even when none of them are licensed (which they would see as a good thing, but would be clearly framed as a bad thing with Neptune not doing well and clearly not ready and the others also clearly not ready themselves.) Then when everyone starts meeting back up, Weiss and Yang are pulled into things. Neptune could be part of the Haven fight and then reconnect with Blake and Sun when they return. A part of me really would want them to join the group permanently and accompany them to Atlas... But I think I would have them go to Vacuo to continue going to school, and just meet up with them again in the Vacuo arc.
What I I think of their character allusion and what (if anything) I would change about it
Neptune was the Roman god of water (originally springs, lakes, and rivers only before eventually expanding into the primary god of the sea) and horses, and also may have been the god of rain and cloudy skies before that function was given to Jupiter. His Greek counterpart, Poseidon, was the god of the sea, storms, and earthquakes, and was a protector of seafarers. Like most gods, there is a lot to go off of in terms of characterization and very little that’s definitive to make a concise character. However, Neptune is mainly gimmick based, with a weapon that doubles as a trident and in the show canon, only has something to do with water. Although it’s interesting to note that Poseidon had worked with Apollo (the god of the sun) in mythology at least once. It seems like there isn’t a lot there. Even including his semblance in the show proper would go a ways towards making his allusion to Neptune/Poseidon feel less gimmicky.

Thoughts after e3!
Took me long enough to write them but here we go. As usual, 2 parts.
Part 1. Nora
It is very sad to see how situation with her mother is getting out of her control and she totally denies it. I can actually see how bad it will become during hell week and i'm not ready for this. She is lying, she doesn't go to school because of that, she keeps telling that it will become better. It probably won't.
I the clip with Zoe on wednesday made me cry a lot. It is so heartbreaking to see Nora trying to fix everything. Her reaction to "we are not family" was painful.
I'm also concerned about how much girls seem to hang out without Nora. I hope it will change by the end of the season.
Again, druck shows us Nora dealing with her mother's alcoholism in this episode like something she is used to. Casually getting rid of empty bottles, taking her mom to the bed, leaving a glass of water for her.
I like how the roof is clearly a safe space for Nora, the place where she goes to forget about everything in her life, even if it is only for a moment. (except for the moment when she came there with kubotan lol). I also liked how druck showed that she feels comfortable with Josh at this roof, how relieved she was to see him.
Part 2. Everything else
JOSH
Lmao i like how we all knew that Josh is a parkour guy but druck got into our anxious brains with ridiculous misleading, like contantpain mask and different sticker style and using William name for random guy who is totally our new turtleneck boy (is always there and has 0.5 lines in the whole season)
I was so sure there wouldn't be the big reveal so i was literally pikachu meme for 2 hours after the last clip came out. I hate it!! I hate it! But also i love it. But i hate it. Honestly, i love druck so much.
God i liked the dancing clip!! The parallel!! Girls being supportive! Fatou being like 😍😋!!!
I also liked Zoe telling Nora that she shouldn't let Kieu My treat her like that. I wonder if now, when she noticed how bad her friends treat Nora, she will stand for her.
I'm very invested in jochwitz storyline. It is almost terrifying how fast i jumped from "i want a season without love interest" to "omg they have so much chemistry together", thank you druck.
I wonder what druck is gonna do with mystery guy account, is it gonna to be abandoned or girls will reveal who the mystery guy is?
And what's the deal with nocoronabi22 account? Why did they went private? What does it mean???
And how some of people here already pointed out, i'm also uncomfortable with breaking pov thing. We shouldn't see how Nora talks with her mom with Josh eyes. We should be there with Nora. I hope that won't happen again.

sunshine girl || scenario - mirio togata
Ackepeteraotnarnia asked: Do you think that you could write a Mirio x reader please ? A really cute one where that retraces their love story together ! she's in general studies (let's say she's quirkless so it's easier for you ! She's a really smart girl but you know shy with people that she doesn't know and when she opens up she's a real sunshine ! At the very beginning,She really wants to know Mirio because he's such a cheerful person so one day she goes up to him and she asks him if he would accept to be her friend (shynesssssss) or something like this because she really admire him ! She's also there when he loses his quirk but she sticks by his side I don't know if you get the general idea ? Honestly it's blurry for me as well but... 😭😂😂
a/n: this is my 500th post oop. also would like to form you all that i listened to ‘toss a coin to your witcher’ for two hours straight whilst writing this and i can confirm it’s the most mind numbing song to write to lol.
I
When you first saw him, he was crying. He had a tight grip on his mother's leg, fat tears rolling down the globes of his cheeks as the teacher attempted to pull him away, soothing him with encouragement in between assuring his mother that a lot of children acted like this in unfamiliar settings. But despite his mother's and the teacher's best efforts, he can't be coaxed into the classroom, not even at the promise of a new toy if he's good by his mother. The teacher is panicking, she's never had a student this attached to her mother, and her gaze wanders to the classroom, searching desperately for her assistant. Her eyes land on you instead, and she gestures to you and calls your name with a smile, facing Mirio once again when you arrive at her side.
"Hey, Mirio," she tries again, and the boy turns his face slightly to look at his teacher, a new wave of tears glossing his eyes, ready to unleash should the teacher try and tug him away again. "I want you to introduce you to someone, she can be your friend." She turns to look at you. "Sunshine, this is Mirio. He doesn't want to leave his Mummy, do you think you could be his friend and help him feel better?"
Mirio turns his face towards you, observing you curiously as you look from your teacher, to Mirio, then back to your teacher. You reach out towards him, offering your hand and he scrutinizes it. His mother places an encouraging hand on the top of his head. He hesitates for a moment, before placing his hand in yours, letting you intertwine your fingers. When he glances up at you, you're grinning brightly, it's like a ray of light, and he can't help but return a watery smile.
"Sunshine's a weird name."
II
When Mirio excitedly tells you his Quirk manifested, you share his excitement, watching in awe as he sticks his hand through Tamaki's head, who squirms uncomfortably. He relays the story of his Quirk manifesting with frantic joy, talking at a mile a minute, eyes growing wider and brighter with every words that leaves his mouth. You react appropriately to the story, eyes widening at moments of climax and smile widening when he tells you how he gained control of his Quirk. You're overjoyed that Mirio has his Quirk, but can't help but feel jealous and sad that your own Quirk hasn't manifested. He's quick to notice that you've lost interest in his story, staring at your hands sadly, as if willing your Quirk to surface in that very moment. He whispers words of encouragement to you as the teacher quietens you, and assures you that one day you will get your Quirk.
It's much later in the day before you start to think about what your own Quirk could be again. The vast majority of the other children in your class have theirs now, and there's a special class to help them gain control of their Quirk. It leaves you, Tamaki and another boy in the class to your own devices on the benches at the side of the sports hall, watching on jealously as the other children test the limits of their Quirks. The other boy occupies himself with a book, utterly unconcerned with everything going on around him, and Tamaki fidgets nervously by your side, eyeing the fire that one girl hiccups out anxiously.
"Hey, Sunshine, can you help me get a gym mat out of the cupboard? Miss Tanaka says Nobu needs it to land on in case he jumps to high! Don't worry Tamaki, we won't take too long, Sunshine will be back with you soon."
Mirio barely gives you the opportunity to reply, grabbing your hand and practically dragging you to the cupboard, the light from the large hall outside being the only thing to illuminate it. The mats are large and heavy, and it takes a lot of effort to pull one off of the stack, and Mirio stumbles under the weight of the mat when it finally slides off the top of the stack, falling into the door that you had closed to in order to give you both more room. It slams shut loudly, and no doubt the teachers have heard it, one pushing on the door, only to find it had locked, shouting out reassuring words.
"Wow, it's dark!" Mirio exclaims, he steps forwards, bumps straight into you, and apologises with a laugh. "I'm going to try and find a light switch."
The dark is scary, and the echo of the room makes everything sound louder than it is. Mirio moves away from you, and you squeal loudly when he knocks over a bucket and it clatters loudly. You're certain you can see a monster moving in the dark, but when the room is engulfed in light, nothing's there. You turns towards Mirio, who's half shielding his eyes and half peering around curiously. The light switch is no where near him, in fact it's clearly on the opposite side of the room, and you frown in confusion.
But Mirio laughs loudly, abandoning his attempts to shield his eyes and pointing at you with excitement. "Your Quirk! That's your Quirk! Your Quirk is literally sunshine, Sunshine!"
When you look down at your hands you see he's right, and you're glowing beneath your skin, bathing the room in light. When the teacher's open the door, they're blinded by the light, but mimic Mirio's excitement as he embraces you. Joy fills you, and you hug him back.
III
Your crush develops in middle school. Your heart beats at a mile a minute whenever he's around, your stomach fluttering with anxious butterflies, and you're bashful whenever you're around Mirio. All of the girls in the class have crushes on him, and he smiles brightly at them and engages them in conversation willingly, oblivious to their intentions of getting close to him. Even though the girls take a lot of his attention away from you, he doesn't miss the way you retreat into yourself, now shy and timid like Tamaki.
He doesn't want to bring it up for fear of embarrassing or upsetting you, but halfway through another mostly silent walk home, he blurts his concerns out before he can think. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make it sound so rude! I'm just worried about you! You're a lot quieter, and I was wondering if you were upset with me or anything."
His confession takes you by surprise, and guilt replaces the love-struck pounding in your heart. "Oh. No, I'm not upset with you at all! I just, I don't know. I guess I'm just nervous about leaving middle school. I'm not really sure what I want to do, and I'm going to miss you a lot."
It's half a life, half the truth. You're not upset with him, but you're also not nervous about leaving middle school. You know that you want to follow Mirio to wherever he and Tamaki go, because it's clear that they'll both go to the same place, and you'll miss him dreadfully if you go to different high schools. Mirio seems to accept it as an answer, anyway.
He frowns for a moment, before stopping in his tracks, grabbing your hands in his and turning you to face him. "It is scary, but we're one step closer to being Heroes! We still have a lot of time, U.A. haven't even released the dates for exams yet, so we have tonnes of time before we have to worry about that!" He pauses for a second, searching your eyes, then grins. "Come on, smile! It'll make you feel better. I want to see that sunshine smile from my sunshine girl!"
Some adults coo near you, and it makes Mirio turn red, but he laughs off the awkwardness. His heart flutters in his chest when you finally do smile through your embarrassment, a feeling he's never felt before, but it just makes him happier. He then realises that this is what the girls were talking about in class, the butterflies in your stomach and the stuttering heart, and he's suddenly conscious of how sweaty his hands are, so he pulls you into a hug. He hopes you can't feel his hear pounding in his chest, but you're too distracted by your own clammy hands, and he wonders if this is what love feels like.
IV
Mirio's beyond ecstatic when he finds out you got into U.A. too. He lifts you up into a hug, twirling you around wildly in excitement, laughing boisterously as utter joy consumes him. That makes you, Tamaki and him. He's slightly disappointed when it turns out you only got into General Studies, but he's glad that Tamaki's by his side in 1-A. He learns all sorts of new things, comes up with new ways to use his Quirk, and now his favourite thing to do is to stick his head through walls to surprise you. He laughed so hard he almost peed himself when he scared you so much you stumbled back and fell, and love spreads through him like wildfire when he sees tears streaming down your face as you laugh with him, embarrassed by how surprised you were.
People start to notice he has a crush on you pretty quickly, and some of the boys tease him about his sunshine girl. And although he denies it, he knows he's crushing on you harder and harder each day, and his heart skips a beat whenever he sees you in the halls or at lunchtime. Tamaki knows now, too, and Hado has her suspicions, but Mirio doesn't want to tell her because he knows that once Hado knows, everyone will know, and that includes you.
He hasn't missed the way you periodically glance at a boy in your class across the lunch hall, or how you gush over him when you and Tamaki go to his house after school. He confides this fear to Tamaki, that this boy is catching your interest and he might lose you forever. But Tamaki knows something he doesn't know, that really you're absolutely smitten with Mirio, and have the same fears about Hado and Mirio. You're just friends with the boy in your class, and his Quirk really is something unique.
It doesn't take long for the relationship between you and Mirio to blossom, and Tamaki's thankful. Even though he finds it awkward when you and Mirio act so lovey-dovey, he's glad you two have finally recognised your feelings for each other. Mirio has neber been happier, his mega-watt smile almost always present, and his face lights up whenever he sees you. He smothers you in kisses and affection, holds your hand whenever he gets the opportunity, and love cuddling up to you on Friday movie-nights. He feels strangely complete, and as he plays with your fingers once night when you've completely passed out halfway through the movie, his gaze falls on your ring finger, and knows exactly what he;s going to put there when you both graduate.
V
But for a moment it seems like he won't even get to graduation. His Quirk is gone, his body battered and bruised from the injuries he's sustained, morale at an all time low when he's informed that there's no possibility of him getting his Qurik back. He sobs like he did that first day at kindergarten, and you're there for him again to support him. Your fingers running through his hair soothe the sobs, your kisses to the side of his head and all over his face make his heart flutter like they always do, and your whispered words of encouragement assure him that everything will be alright, because he has you.
It's with your help that he gets back on his feet, and he's his normal self once again in no time. His love for you is even more intense than it was before, and he steals kisses from you whenever he can, whispers "I love you" into your ear at any given opportunity, because now he knows just how easy it is to lose something, and he wants to make sure you know he loves you if you ever lose him, god forbid. Suddenly, the idea of marriage is much more at the forefront of him mind, and he knows he has other things to worry about, but now he subconsciously finds himself rubbing your ring finger when he holds your hand. You're both still young, but nothing feels more right when he finally proposes to you, and he's over the moon when you accept.
He takes you into his arms without hesitation, pressing a firm kiss your lips, smiling when he notices the glow of your skin from excitement. Mirio finally has his sunshine girl in his arms, and you'll be his sunshine girl forever.

Eager, Young, and Starry-Eyed
(read on ao3)
Summary: When Carlos is asked to participate in the annual football game for his police precinct, TK is more than willing to come cheer him on. The afternoon does not go quite as they expect it though... (sorry I suck at summaries)
Note: Beta-read by my fave person @terramous
Title from “Late July” by Shakey Graves... it really has nothing to do with the story itself but I’m so so obsessed with this song and I just needed to use it as a title so.
TK was never that interested in sports. His dad had tried to get him into playing or at least watching any sports game with him when he was younger but it just never stuck.
But when Carlos told him about the annual football game that he was participating in for his police precinct, he couldn’t help but share in his excitement. Watching his attractive boyfriend run around on a field in a tight shirt, all hot and sweaty? He didn’t even have to think twice before agreeing to come cheer him on.
Which is how he found himself sitting on the bleachers under the hot Austin sun in a local park.
He tries his best to follow the action on the field. Carlos had mentioned the game was just a friendly competition and from what he could tell, he was right. The players don’t seem to be taking the game too seriously. Instead of the aggressiveness among players TK was used to seeing when he would watch games with his dad, the players have been laughing and teasing each other throughout today’s game.
As for his boyfriend, TK did not have to understand the game to realize Carlos was playing incredibly well. In just the first half, he had worked up quite the sweat. He knew his boyfriend had played football in high school, having found his letterman jacket hidden in the back of his closet. However, when TK confronted him about it, Carlos failed to mention how good he was at the game.
And now, seeing the little beads of sweat on Carlos’ forehead glisten in the sun was enough to make TK’s mouth dry. He could not wait to grab the other man by his wet curls and kiss him as soon as the game was over.
Every once in a while, Carlos glances over to him and gives him a smile that makes TK’s heart flutter. Who knew football was so much more fun to watch when the man you love was playing?
He was so lost in thought of how hot his boyfriend looked that it took him a few beats to realize that said man was no longer running across the field but was now curled up on the ground, surrounded by his teammates.
Immediately, TK stands up, his heart pounding in his ears. What happened? Why wasn’t Carlos getting up?
He tries to suppress emotions and his racing thoughts but when another thirty seconds pass without Carlos making any move to get up, he can’t stop himself from making his way down the bleachers, toward the field. He pauses for a second at the sideline, wondering if it is okay for him to be on the field. But he quickly pushes that thought aside and makes his way over to Carlos. This is his boyfriend lying on the ground, clearly hurt. If anything, TK can at least try to push aside his emotions and put his training as a first responder to good use.
As he gets closer to Carlos, he recognizes a few of the faces surrounding him, having seen them when he meets his boyfriend at the station or on calls. They must recognize him too because as soon as he gets close enough the crowd starts to part, allowing him to reach Carlos. Either that, or the worried look on his face is enough for them not to question who he is.
“Hey,” he says, kneeling down next to Carlos, “I didn’t see what happened. Are you okay?”
When Carlos looks up at him with a tight expression and jaw clenched so hard that the vein in his neck stands out, he gets his answer. Carlos is clearly not okay.
“Got tackled and my knee gave out,” Carlos winces and manages to grunt out.
TK’s heart breaks seeing the man he loves in such clear agony. He’s been with Carlos long enough to know the man has a high tolerance for pain and will often try to hide it, insisting that he is fine. The fact that he isn’t even bothering to conceal his emotions at this moment sets off quite a few alarms in TK’s head.
“Do you think you can stand so we can get you off the field?”
Carlos gives a small, unsure nod, and TK extends his hand out, trying to take on as much as the other man’s weight as he can. He slings the injured man’s arm over his shoulder and one of his teammates does the same on the other side, allowing Carlos to be practically carried off the field.
Once they hobble their way over to the sidelines, TK eases Carlos down onto the bench. He then takes a seat next to him and gently brings the other man’s right leg up to elevate it so he can take a closer look at it. He lightly touches it only to pull away when he hears Carlos’ sharp intake of breath. With how tender his knee is, TK can’t help but worry. It’s not looking good.
“Do you guys have any ice?” TK asks, directing his attention to the teammate who had assisted him in getting Carlos off the field.
The other guy nods and hurries off before returning with a fresh bag of ice that TK gingerly places on Carlos’ knee.
“How’s your pain? One to ten?”
“Eleven. I think it’s my ACL,” Carlos grits out.
TK can feel his heart breaking all over again. ACL tears are never a good thing. If Carlos is right, he will likely be out of commission for a while.
“Maybe not, it could just be a bad sprain.” TK suggests, trying to hope for the best.
“No, it is. I’ve done this before. With my other knee.”
“What? Carlos!”
“It’s what ended my football career in high school.”
Did Carlos really just say a knee injury is the reason why he stopped playing football? “Then can you please explain why you thought it would be a good idea to participate in the game today?”
“I told you it was just a friendly competition. I didn’t think it would be too rough, and I was told that the odds of my re-tearing my ACL was low.”
“Well were you ever informed that the probability of tearing the ACL in your other knee was higher? Around nine to twelve percent actually.” TK knows this is not the best time to throw statistics in Carlos’ face but his boyfriend needs to understand that what he did was reckless and preventable.
Carlos just looks at TK, pain clearly laced in his eyes as he bites down on his lip.
TK takes a breath. As much as he worries about his boyfriend and knows this could have been avoided, it happened nonetheless. And now they have to deal with it. “We need to get you checked out at the hospital. Do you think you can get over to the car or do you want me to call for an ambulance?”
He shakes his head. “It was embarrassing enough to get hurt in front of my co-workers, I don’t need to run the risk of Michelle finding out yet. She’s never going to let me live this down…” He pauses for a second before continuing, “I think I can make it to the car and you can drive.”
“Well I kind of figured I would be the one driving,” TK chuckles but stops when the joke falls flat.
TK loops his arm around Carlos, this time taking on the other man’s weight alone, and they make their way towards the parking lot.
---
Lucky for them, the emergency room was near empty and Carlos was able to be taken back right away. After an initial examination by the doctor which proved just how tender and swollen his knee was, he had been sent back for an MRI.
Now he was back in the room, waiting with TK anticipating the results. TK couldn’t help but notice how miserable his boyfriend looked sitting on the hospital bed, icing and elevating his right knee. He had traded in his sweaty t-shirt and shorts for an uncomfortable light blue hospital gown. The scowl on his face confirmed that Carlos would prefer to be anywhere else but here.
He exhales at his boyfriend's lethargic state.
This gets Carlos’ attention, who turns and meets his eye. “What?”
“I know this sucks but you don’t have to look so sad.” TK tries to hide the small smile forming on his face. He can’t help it at the sight of the adorable pout of Carlos’ lips.
“I’m glad my pain is amusing you,” Carlos says as he looks away from the other man.
TK just stares at his boyfriend. “Come on, you know I didn’t mean it like that.”
Before Carlos can respond, their soft banter is interrupted by Carlos’ doctor knocking on the sliding glass door.
“I have the results for your scan,” he starts off. “I’m afraid our initial prognosis was right. There is a tear in the ACL of your right knee.”
TK doesn’t fail to notice the look of disappointment that washes over Carlos’ face upon hearing the news. He leans over and grabs his hand before giving a small nod to the doctor to continue.
“Now, taking in your occupation as an active police officer I would highly recommend surgery to repair the tear. It would require quite a bit of physical rehabilitation post-surgery, however it would guarantee you can get back out in the field in top shape. I can’t say the same for going with the non-surgical option, but that is still on the table if you would rather take that route.”
“I’ll do the surgery,” Carlos states without hesitation.
“Are you sure you don’t want to think about it?” TK asks, slightly taken aback by Carlos’ quick answer. He knows his boyfriend is anxious to return to work but this is a big decision and should not be taken lightly.
“I need to do it, TK,” he says, giving him a reassuring look before directing his attention back to the doctor. “I want to do the procedure.”
“Okay, well in that case I have an opening for you two weeks from today that we can schedule you for. And in the meantime, we’ll get you fitted with a brace and crutches. Try to take it easy until then and continue to ice and elevate until the swelling goes down.”
Carlos nods and looks at TK, giving him a small smile. The same smile that made his heart flutter just a few hours ago, now under different circumstances but having the same effect. His boyfriend was going to be just fine.
“Careful baby,” TK says while holding the door open for his boyfriend who was hobbling behind him on his crutches. His knee was now safely secured in a tight black brace. Though if the look on Carlos’ face was any indication, it was still causing him quite a bit of pain.
“Yeah, I got it,” Carlos grunts as he makes his way through the door frame.
TK just sighs. He knows his boyfriend is determined to do everything on his own but he’s mistaken if he thinks TK isn’t going to mother hen him for the next few months until he is fully recovered.
He watches Carlos ease himself onto the couch, elevating his knee and letting his crutches fall to the side.
Making his way over to the kitchen, TK grabs a fresh ice pack for his boyfriend before joining him on the couch, delicately placing the ice pack on Carlos’ knee.
“How are you doing?” TK asks, concern clear in his voice.
“My knee hurts.”
“I can’t fathom why it would. I meant mentally, how are you doing?”
“I don’t know,” Carlos says, averting his gaze away from TK.
TK pulls on his hand to get his attention. “Hey, talk to me.”
“I guess I’m bummed because this won’t be an easy recovery, and I really want to get back to work but I know that won’t happen for a while.”
“How do you feel about the surgery?”
---
“I’m a little nervous… I mean I had the same procedure when it happened but this time it’s different. I was in high school then. Now, I don’t know,” he pauses to gather his thoughts. “The stakes are a little higher I guess.”
“Well, you agreed to it very quickly,” TK adds on.
“Yeah, TK, because I know if I want to go back to work, that’s my only option,” Carlos quickly fires back.
“Listen to me,” TK says, looking at his boyfriend seriously. “You’re allowed to be more than a little nervous about it. It’s a fairly big procedure. And yes, it will take a while to recover but I’m going to be here every step of the way to take care of you. Mentally and physically.”
Carlos looks up at him softly before snuggling into TK’s side. “Have I mentioned how much I adore you?”
“Did I mention how hot you looked today, all athletic?” TK bites on his lip, the urge from earlier in the day to grab his boyfriend by the curls coming back just as strong. “Yeah some athlete I am,” Carlos says, gesturing down to his knee brace.
TK just smirks. “Well have I mentioned I find sports injuries pretty hot too?”
“You’re ridiculous,” Carlos chuckles.
TK smiles and cups the other man’s cheek. “Yeah but you love me anyway.”
They smile at each other before leaning in, pressing their lips together for a passionate kiss.

give me one reason.
I’m feeling good. I’m not sure why, I just feel happy today. I’ve spent most of the day listening to music, relaxing, and just crossing things off my ‘to do’ list. I was off work today which was wonderful and needed. I spent most of the day just sitting on my bed rather than sitting in the lounge. I’ve just enjoyed not having a need to do anything or a need to be busy and be somewhere. I had planned to go on a walk this morning but got told by my boss everyone had to attend a webinar today regardless of whether they were off or not – which was incredibly frustrating. It was right in the middle of the day as well, so I didn’t want to risk going on a walk and then having to rush back, so I just did a few loads of laundry and chilled out. Even now, I’m sitting on my bed with my legs crossed and singing along to music. Once I’ve finished writing this, or when I’m at least half-way through I’m planning to go and watch a film. I haven’t watched a film for ages, and I think it would end my day quite wonderfully. Candles burning and wrapped up on the sofa in a blanket.
Dentist – I had my first US dentist appointment this week and it was wonderful. I was really anxious about it. Back home, my dentist is so incredibly rough. I leave every single time with a tissue as my gum or lip bleeds because she’s caught it whilst checking my teeth. I have been seeing the same dentist since I was a tiny child, so I assumed this was just how dentist were. I thought this was normal. I have now found out that that is not the case. I took some time deciding which dentist to go to and found a woman who has a practice a five-minute walk from where I live. I avoid men in all aspects of my life as much as possible, but especially in medical settings. I am not comfortable with most men. I find women so much easier to talk to and so I love the ability to select all your physicians here in the US. The dentist had always been awarded a Dentist of the Year award for 2020 so I felt as though I would be in good hands. I was. I told her that I was slightly anxious, and we talked through my past experiences. She was so gentle, took her time and was so much more thorough than my dentist back home. She even flossed my teeth! I also had full mouth X-rays, something else I have never had before. In the UK I have only ever had side mouth X-rays, but this was extensive! It was also the most painful part of my appointment. She told me this was because I had quite a small mouth, and the x-rays had to fit in with your mouth closed so I could feel the edges hitting the roof and bottom of my mouth, but it was only a couple of minutes of discomfort. We got to look at the x-rays together which I found fascinating. I have never known whether I had any wisdom teeth or not, but she showed me on the x-ray that I did but they were still deep in my gums and partly under my other teeth. She said given my age it was unlikely that they will ever come through – so that is good news. On the visual examination of my mouth she said everything was perfect, but on viewing the x-ray she said I had a cavity deep in between two teeth which is probably why it’s never been noticed before. So… I need my first filling, and I am scared. I booked my appointment today. At 29 I will have my first ever tooth filling. My mum says I can’t complain as I have done incredibly well considering most people have them so much earlier, so yes, I have clearly done an alright job of looking after my teeth! Due to my anxiety my dentist advised that I have laughing gas during the procedure. This is not something I have ever had before so I am very nervous and unsure, but I guess we shall see how it goes. It needs to be done and if it isn’t it will only get worse. We also discussed Invisalign which I am also nervous but excited about! My dentist say I am a good candidate for it due to my twisted tooth at the front which bothers me, but also because I have some overcrowding and it would really help to space and straighten them. I will book a full consultation when I am at my filling appointment and then I can begin treatment! I’m going to try and make myself look better in my 29th year. I have so many things I dislike about myself. I would never have plastic surgery, but I do want to improve some things about myself and I think starting with my teeth isn’t a bad place to begin. I intend to document the process on here (although not with photos… I will be documenting with photos, but they will certainly be kept private).
Therapy - Solo therapy this week focused on my fear of medical appointments. We discussed where this fear may have come from and I discussed my sheer fear of pain. I told about my painful pap smears, my time in a German hospital (including waking up being injected with something – and having no idea what it was), my painful dentist appointments, fear of needles and having blood taken. The list went on, but I was comfortable discussing these issues with her. We also talked in quite a lot of detail regarding my ‘muscle spasms’. We decided to go with this phrasing because the real name for my ‘muscle spasms’ just makes me uncomfortable. It’s just a horrible word, and as my therapist said, it sounds like the name of a yeast infection! We actually laughed about it and I feel really glad to have a therapist who I am fully comfortable with. We talked about how I have never really had the ‘muscle spasms’ with a girl, well not when having sex with a girl that I loved and actually wanted to have sex with. Anyway, that was solo therapy. Group therapy had little to do with my until right at the end when we ended up talking about wanted to leave the small town we grew up in and turning to the topic of childhood bullying. I found myself talking about the bullying I experienced during my time at primary school, and everyone seemed so shocked to hear what I had been through. Everyone was saying how they don’t understand how anyone would have wanted to bully little me because I was such a nice person and really sweet. That made me happy. It made me so happy that these people that I see every week and fully pour out my thoughts and innermost feelings too like me. They think I’m nice and sweet. These people like me! Me!! It made me appreciate group even more than I already did. I love these people so much. I love how we all show up for each other and support each other through whatever it is each of us needs to talk about or whatever it is each of us is going through. I’m not sure if I ever believed I would find myself loving therapy as much as I do, but the amount of progress I have made within myself over the last year of attending both group and solo therapy has been astronomical. I feel proud. I feel happy of my progress, and yes, I have far to go, but it’s going well and I feel comfortable and happy that I have this support.
New Professionals – Knowing people in high places in my profession certainly has it’s uses. J messaged me on Monday morning to tell me the congress in Abu Dhabi has been postponed to 2023. Next year the conference will take place in Rome. So what does that mean for me as a New Professional? I currently don’t know. J told me because he knows someone on the Executive Board of the ICA and had heard the decision from him. I was glad he told me because I had the opportunity to process it and have my cry and feel upset, angry and frustrated about it before we were officially told in my NP meeting. I felt very depressed on Monday. J and I talked for quite a while over message and he cheered me up a little, but in all honesty, I was devastated. I still am, but I guess I’ve had to come to terms with the fact that it is what it is and covid-19 has ruined things for everyone over the last two years, I am thankful I didn’t write here straight away as this would have been much more negative. On Friday during our NP meeting with the president of the ICA (which was awesome!), they told us the situation. They also said they don’t yet know what this means for us. No decision has been made, but we should receive an email within the next two weeks informing us of what it means for our group. Will we go to Rome next year? Will be miss out on a conference altogether. Will we just have a virtual event online? Whatever the outcome I will be disappointed, really disappointed and I do feel like the rug has been pulled out from beneath me. I feel as though I was given something and then someone pulled it away again. It just really sucks, but there is nothing I can do about it at all. It just is what it is, yet I believe I will find myself ranting about it on here on more than one more occasion but let’s see what happens.
I have more to write but I’m going to watch a film and write more tonight or tomorrow. I’ve started writing myself notes of what topics I want to write about, and it’s helping me to get all my thoughts out in a consistent and sort of concise (lol not at all), way.

I cannot get over how much I like these two episodes
Season One, Episode Eleven: In Dreams
Tumblr media
After “Prickly Pair” (and an audio leak,) I thought that we were headed down the valley of angst wherein Steven would suddenly start to be corrupted and would have to be talked down from the point of no return -
But instead, we got an episode that is a more realistic depiction of what happens when you find yourself overwhelmed/anxious/depressed. Sometimes it’s not a rabbit hole where everything goes downhill at once. Sometimes you have depressive episodes back-to-back-to-back and then just a few shining moments where everything is okay and things may be looking up.
We finally get to see Peridot as she and Steven prepare to watch the reboot of Camp Pining Hearts but Steven has also been struggling with nightmares about how he’s not needed anymore. Peridot, not realizing the implications/severity of this, suggests using Steven’s new powers to rewrite the reboot.
Now, is it just me, or it is heavily implied that Steven didn’t want to kiss another girl in his dreams because it would be like cheating on Connie? That’s the vibe I got, especially when Jasmine turned into her and Obsidian!Connie tried to step on him.
Strangely, the thing I like most about this episode is that Peridot clearly has NO idea what’s going on with Steven. He’s put so much significance into helping Peridot and from her point of view they’re just doing something fun together. When it looks like Peridot might leave, Steven puts himself in a situation where he’s doing something that makes him uncomfortable but if it’ll keep Peridot there he’s willing to do it.
That entire sequence, where Peridot is about to walk into the house and leave him and he’s pouring his heart out begging her to stay and not leave him is HARD. But it makes Peridot rushing to his side and reassuring him so much more impactful in the end.
Season One, Episode Twelve: Bismuth Casual
Tumblr media
Two things: COOOONNNNNIIIIEEEEE and BIIISSSSSMUUUUTTTTHHH
I don’t necessarily partake in shipping when it comes to Steven Universe, I mean I was for Lapis and Peridot and maybe Pearl and Amethyst but never suspected that Bismuth had a thing for Pearl OR that Pearl would be collecting so many numbers. For a character that started out seemingly despising humans, Pearl certainly is popular with them!
And Connie. Precious Connie. I know she’s got friends and she’s in school, but from the way she spoke to Steven in this episode I think her Connie-senses are going off and she knows that he’s going through something and invited him out to skate.
I’m glad the show has finally addressed the elephant in the room about what Steven has missed out on by living with the Gems. He’s never been rollerskating, isn’t familiar with school and has lacked a lot of socialization with kids his own age because he spent his formative years with the weight of a war on his shoulders. In many ways, this actually reminds me of Gohan after the Cell saga, except that Gohan was immediately able to rejoin “normal” society and didn’t have an adjustment period.
The Gems are all learning how to live their lives but Steven has actually missed out an a great part of his. How hard must it be for him to try to connect with other human beings, when he hasn’t shared the same experiences, he isn’t in a position where he can be around them much (most of the Cool Kids are gone and at this point it’s too late for him to go to school,) and right now he’s isolated by his own anxiety and depression?
So I’m glad Connie invited him out and tried to make him feel included even though he was out of his element. What an amazing friend she is.
This whole episode had wonderful music and the colors were gorgeous.
I know that angst is just around the corner so it was nice to just sit back and breathe with everyone.
Can’t wait for next week!

Waiting in the Wings ch 1
Many, many thanks to the ever patient @willow-salix for helping me with this (I hope you know what you’ve bitten off here!). It’s been a long time coming but here goes nothing - my first ever OC. It’s also available on AO3 here if you prefer.
*********
Scott surveyed the grand ballroom, still unsure as to why he was there in the first place. He had his suspicions of Gordon’s budding romance with Penelope, so the invite to one of her private parties was perhaps not unexpected for his brother but quite how and why he had been talked into going too was beyond him. While he was no stranger to socialising with Penny, it was more usual for it to be at events where their presence was required to keep up appearances rather than at a private party for some of her closest friends. Since they arrived, Gordon had perhaps inevitably attached himself to Penny’s side but Scott didn’t want to cramp his little brother’s style and, if he was honest, he wouldn’t have chosen to spend his evening off in this way if he was given the choice. Having already greeted his host and in the absence of anything else to do or anyone in attendance whom he needed to speak with, he made himself comfortable at the bar and lost himself in a glass or several of whisky. He had always enjoyed people watching so he contented himself with passing the time by trying to guess how Penelope knew everyone and perhaps more mystifyingly how she could possibly have the time to be close friends with the sheer number of people in attendance.
Scanning the room for someone she knew, Catriona was very glad for the glass of liquid courage that had been pressed into her hand upon her arrival. Having known Penny for years, she thought she’d have been used to these sorts of events by now but her heartrate would suggest otherwise although she hadn’t exactly helped herself this time by getting waylaid at work and arriving late. Seeing how dressed up everyone else was, she congratulated herself on her decision to at least curl her long hair and wear her favourite purple satin gown that always gave her a confidence boost when she needed it. Amongst the other guests there was not a hair out of place and she idly wondered how long everyone else had taken to prepare for the night. At an outside guess she thought it was probably a lot longer than her. Unable to see any familiar faces in the throng, she took a deep breath to calm her nerves and started out into the crowd, nearly colliding with the hostess for the evening as she did so.
“Catriona! It’s so good to see you, I’m so glad you could come.” Penny was the first to recover and as ever did not let anything so small as a near miss with one of her guests faze her.
“Me too, it’s been forever since we’ve seen each other. Sorry I’m a bit late – I got stuck in rehearsals.”
“That’s no trouble at all, I’m just glad you’re here now. All ready for the performances?”
“Yup, we should be good I think. There’s always more to do but we’ve got the basics down now so that’s a good start” replied Catriona, noticing for the first time the nervous looking blonde man in an incredibly expensive looking suit with a sunny yellow bow tie standing beside Penny. She felt like she’d seen him somewhere before but couldn’t quite place him.
“Excellent, I shall look forward to seeing it then.” Noticing her friends gaze drifting and sounding uncharacteristically nervous she continued. “Um, there’s someone I’d like you to meet. It’s all still very much under wraps but this is the gentleman I was telling you about. Catriona, I’d like you to meet Gordon Tracy.”
Catriona was relieved to find that there was a good reason why she recognised the young man standing in front of her, having seen him on the news less than 24 hours before rescuing the crew of a submarine after they got trapped in amongst some undersea vents. “It’s lovely to meet you finally and put a face to the name. Penny’s told me all about you - you’re with International Rescue, right?”
“Oh, has she now?” Gordon’s previously anxious face was transformed into an impish grin which lit up his hazel eyes as he glanced at a reddening Penny before focusing back on Catriona. “Yeah, I’m the one with the yellow submarine. It’s lovely to meet you too. So, if Penny’s told you about me then I’m guessing you’re Penny’s best friend then?”
“Yup, guilty as charged. We were at the Royal Ballet School together back when she wanted to be a dancer and she didn’t manage to get rid of me after she left. So here we are.”
Gordon’s eyes widened as he turned to Penny for the second time in as many minutes. “I didn’t know you wanted to be a ballerina!”
“Oh, there’s a lot you don’t know about me dearest.” said Penny with a fond smile. “But there will be be plenty of time for you to find it all out, don’t you worry.”
Gordon raised an eyebrow at that, before smiling at Catriona again. “So, are you a dancer then?”
“Yeah, I dance for the Royal Ballet now but I was out in America for a bit when I was younger too.” She thought for a second before throwing caution to the wind, smiling as she prepared to surprise her friend. “Given your identity as Penny’s mystery crush, do you want to know a funny coincidence from when I was out there?”
“Always!” Gordons ears pricked up, hoping for some gossip.
“I used to date your brother…”
“Which one –”
“You didn’t tell me that –”
“It was Scott, but don’t get too excited – it was literally years ago.”
“Really? This world is far too small. How did that happen then? I didn’t think Scott had girlfriends.” Gordon seemed to have recovered from the revelation much faster than Penny, who was still looking aghast as not knowing something.
“Yeah, we dated for about a year when he was stationed at Langley and I was dancing with the Richmond Ballet. Must have been about 7 years ago now. Do you remember Penny – I was out there for a while after I graduated before I joined the Royal? I’d already been out there for about 2 years when I met Scott and we were together til he was deployed overseas and I moved to London. It’s not much more exciting than that I’m afraid.”
“Of course!” she tried to recover herself. “I remember now that you had a boyfriend out there but I had no idea he was a mutual friend.”
“To be fair, I don’t think I ever told you his second name at the time so there’s not really any way you could have known and I didn’t know you knew any of the Tracy’s anyway or it might have come up sooner.”
“I still can’t believe you didn’t tell me it was Scott Tracy you were involved with!” Penny was aware that she was starting to sound petulant but she didn’t like being caught out, especially not in front of the man she’d spent years trying to impress and who was currently watching the unfolding back and forth between friends in a manner similar to a spectator at Wimbledon.
“Well look at it this way, why didn’t you tell me it was Gordon Tracy I was meeting tonight then?”
“Because there are expectations that come with that name…” Penny couldn’t hide the exasperation in her voice and was uncomfortably aware of the look that passed between Gordon and Catriona and the resulting grins on both their faces as she backed herself neatly into a corner.
“Uh huh. So…”
“Fine” she conceded with a smile, realising that Catriona had simply done exactly the same as she was doing in protecting the Tracy family. “You have me there.”
“That was amazing! I’ve never seen anyone manage to get Penny to admit she was wrong before. You gotta teach me how to do it?” It was safe to say that Gordon was impressed.
“I’d be happy to. Although I warn you, it’s a difficult course and takes a lot of practice – I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve managed it in 17 years.” Catriona glanced at Penny who simply smiled and rolled her eyes.
“It’ll be worth the effort! Well, seeing as you already know my brother then you should go and say hello – he’s standing over there at the bar.”
“What? Where?” Catriona was not prepared for this. She’d not seen Scott in years and had definitely not been expecting to be ambushed by him at a party that she was only attending in order to meet her friend’s new amour.
“There, wearing the black suit and looking like he’d rather be scrubbing gunk out of my ‘bird’s intakes than spending another moment here… No offence to your party Penny.”
Catriona looked over and immediately felt a familiar tug of attraction in her stomach when she spotted the tall, dark haired man standing across the room, oblivious to her presence. He was surrounded by beautiful young women, all of whom seemed to be intent on bagging themselves a Tracy for the night and all three observers could see that his body language screamed discomfort.
“He looks like he could do with being rescued” observed Penny. “I thought my guests would leave him alone but clearly I was wrong.”
“Don’t worry about it – this happens literally everywhere we go. To be fair he’s usually OK with it but I’m not so sure today.”
“Leave it to me” Catriona announced to everyone’s surprise, including her own. Before anyone had a chance to stop her, she turned on her heel and disappeared into the crowd.
******************************************************
Under normal circumstances, Scott may have been tempted by one of the ladies surrounding him but not tonight. He didn’t know why, but he was just not interested despite several being what could ordinarily be classed as his type. Looking for a way out, he spotted Gordon across the room. Catching his eye, he mouthed “help” but his brother only grinned and turned back to his conversation. Scott sighed and filed that away for future retribution. He’d not missed his brother and Penelope looking over at him in surprise a few minutes before as if he was the subject of some discussion but he hadn’t been able to see who the other member of the conversation was and frankly, he wasn’t sure he wanted to know. He was starting to get a headache from the incessant giggling that seemed to be going on around him and he gratefully grabbed another glass of champagne from the bar behind him.
“Thank god I’ve found you! I’ve been looking everywhere! Excuse me, but I need to steal Mr Tracy I’m afraid” Suddenly, a blur of copper and purple appeared out of nowhere, taking a bewildered Scott’s hand and dragging him, bemused but willing, behind a pillar hidden away from everybody on the other side of the room. On their way, Scott had a chance to appreciate the figure-hugging qualities of the dress and the long distinctive hair that he was sure he’d seen once before attached to…
“Cat?? What’s going on?” asked a very bewildered but amused Scott as they came to a halt and his saviour turned around. “And what are you even doing here?”
“You looked like you needed rescued” she explained simply, flushing an endearing red as the first doubts about her actions crept into her mind.
“So, you rescued me?”
“Yup.” Her eyes met his for the first time, their icy blue depths drawing him in and he found he couldn’t look away.
“Usually that’s my line of business…” he commented with a wry smile.
“So I’ve heard, but even the rescuers need saving sometimes…” She had the faintest of smiles on her face as she held his eyes and Scott felt something deep inside him shudder to life in a flash of recognition.
“You have no idea how right you are!” laughed Scott, smiling broadly and pushing the moment aside. “Well, you’ve rescued me. I feel very safe and have been unharmed by my ordeal. So, what were your plans for me now?”
“I have no idea” admitted Catriona with a grin. “Forward planning still isn’t one of my strong points I’m afraid.”
“Well in that case, may I get a drink for my saviour? And then you actually do have to tell me why you’re here.”
“Of course. A drink sounds lovely and honestly, it’s no big secret – I went to ballet school with Penny. Nothing more sinister than that I’m afraid.” she replied, taking the arm that Scott hadn’t even realised he had offered and falling into an easy stride with him.
“Penny used to dance?” Scott stopped in his tracks in surprise, causing Cat to stumble and glare at him.
“Yes! Why is everyone so surprised about that tonight?” Scott heard the frustration in her voice and wisely decided to keep his mouth shut and start walking again as if nothing had ever happened. “Anyway, Gordon said I should speak to you and I thought it might be a good opportunity to help you escape. You looked like you wanted to lobotomise yourself with a spoon there.”
“Oh, how I’ve missed your turn of phrase. But yes, that’s almost exactly what I was considering when you appeared. Do you want to get out of here so we can catch up properly? If I remember rightly there’s a library just down the hall.”
“Sounds perfect. Let’s grab another drink then see what we can find.”
“You read my mind” replied Scott, flashing a brilliant smile which made Cat’s heart flutter dangerously.
In the library, they settled down at a table tucked away in a corner and Scott steeled himself for the thing that he knew he had to do.
“Listen, before we get any further, I owe you a pretty big apology…” he tailed off, not sure how to explain how bad he felt for the way he’d ended their relationship.
“Agreed! I can’t believe that after a year of dating you waited a month after you got deployed and then told me I was just a distraction that you couldn’t afford to have right then!” Cat’s voice was harsh and he felt terrible.
“Oh God, it’s worse than I remember.” Scott mumbled as he dropped his head into his hands momentarily before looking back up and catching her eyes with a look that he hoped conveyed both remorse and sincerity. “I can’t believe I actually said that. I’m so sorry. You have every right to be mad at me forever for that alone.”
“I sure do. But luckily for you I’m not. Not any more anyway.”
“Really?” Scott visibly brightened and Cat had to suppress a chuckle.
“Really” she reassured. “Look, I don’t hold grudges unless it’s something really bad. Yeah, you acted like a total arse but we were young, you were in an actual real-life warzone and it was 7 years ago. Holding onto something like that is just too much effort and I can’t be bothered if I’m honest.”
“So, you’re not going to kick my ass?”
“No Scott, I’m not going to give you the ass kicking you may or may not deserve. Now that’s out the way, what do you say we move on and catch up properly. I hear you’ve turned into somewhat of a real-life hero over the past few years…?”
******************************
As the evening was winding down, Cat found herself temporarily alone with Penny seeing off her last few guests and the two Tracy boys helping Parker to make sure nobody was left lingering in the gardens. Reflecting on the night, she had to admit that Penny’s choice of Gordon was very well suited. She liked him very much and the feeling seemed to be mutual in the little time they had spent together. The revelation of the night had been Scott however. He had been as charming as she remembered when they had dated and she was uncomfortably aware of how attractive she still found him. The fact that he lived on the other side of the world and had a tremendously dangerous and unpredictable job was definitely more inconvenient than she’d like to admit although the demands of her job didn’t help matters. She batted those thoughts away – there was no point in even considering it.
“So… What happened?” For the second time that night, Penny had managed to take her by surprise, this time jolting her out of a rather ill-advised daydream.
“Well, he apologised for being an idiot and breaking up with me. That was a good start. Then we just spent the rest of the night catching up and he did ask for my number so we can keep in touch from now on. He says he’d like to come and see me dance at some point but if that happens I’ll be very surprised if I’m honest. He came before when we were in Virginia but I think he hated it.”
“I’m glad to hear he apologised at least and that you both had a good night. If he’s serious about wanting to see you dance, I’ve still not allocated my tickets for your show in a few weeks. I wonder if both the boys would like to come…?”
“Would like to come where?” cut in Gordon appearing as if from nowhere with his big brother following close behind.
“To the ballet. Catriona is dancing Giselle 2 weeks tonight and I happen to have spare tickets. Then maybe we could do something together afterwards?”
“Sounds good to me” grinned Gordon. “I’ve never been to the ballet before. What part are you dancing?”
“Giselle… Um, the title role.” Cat elaborated when Gordon looked blankly at her.
“Awesome. It’ll be even more fun if we know the main dancer! You in Scott?”
“Absolutely. Wouldn’t miss it. Send me the details Penny and we’ll make sure we’re there.”
“Are you sure guys? That’s so sweet of you both. It’s one of my favourites so I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.” Catriona was delighted that they had agreed to go so readily but was suddenly hit by a wave of nerves about her performance. Stifling a yawn, she decided it was on the list of things that she could worry about in the morning before admitting to her host that she would need to go and saying her goodbyes to the Tracy boys.
“Wait!” Cat turned around in surprise as Scott jogged up beside her as she waited in the cool night air for her taxi. “I didn’t want you to have to wait alone, or let you leave without telling you how much I’ve enjoyed seeing you again.”
“You already did that didn’t you? When you got my number and promised to message me in the morning?” she laughed.
“OK you caught me. I just wanted to say goodbye without an audience.” Scott admitted, holding out his arms and looking so hopeful that Cat couldn’t help but comply.
“Goodbye Scott” Cat folded herself into his embrace, closing her eyes and enjoying the sensation of his warm body pressing against hers through the thin material of her dress, familiar strong arms around her waist holding her tightly. Pulling back slightly, ice blue and sapphire locked together as their eyes met. Cat didn’t move for a long while – held there by the sheer intensity of his gaze.
“We can’t” she said at length, breaking the moment. “We’ve both had a lot to drink and we’ve only just met each other again.”
Scott lowered his eyes. “I know” he sighed. No matter how much his brain knew that it was the right thing to do, it didn’t stop his heart from sagging in disappointment anyway.
The clung to each other a moment longer, their foreheads resting against each other in a pose that had been so familiar when they were together before she pulled back a little, a grin spreading over her face which experience told him meant trouble.
“And anyway, you’d just be a distraction if we did and I can’t afford to have that right now” she managed to deadpan before collapsing into giggles as Scott raised an eyebrow and tried to desperately to maintain some kind of dignity before her infectious laughter overtook him and they collapsed into each other, holding each other up as they gasped for breath.
Watching her walk away once they had regained some composure, Scott started to realise just how big a mistake he’d made all those years ago.

This is the least favorite part of Peter’s days, visiting his uncle. Its not like he doesn’t love him, of course he does, but its not exactly easy to look at him lying in a hospital bed with a tube sticking out of his mouth because some asshole shot him. And Peter knows whoever did it, because despite the whole thing being caught on camera the cops aren’t competent enough to find the guy, has probably led a complicated life too but that doesn’t make it easier. Its just what he knows Ben would say, if he could respond to Peter’s thoughts. He doesn’t know how Ben managed to stay as positive as he had, no matter what shitty thing was happening. Its admirable, Peter thinks, that he was always able to maintain that regardless of what was going on.
He’s quietly contemplating that when May walks in looking a little uncomfortable and it has to be worse for her. Peter can’t even imagine what it must be like, watching someone youve been married to for so long like this. “Apparently we’re up to date on payments,” she says softly, walking over and standing beside him. “That’s not possible.”
Peter shakes his head, “its fine, I got a job,” he tells her.
May clearly doesn’t buy it and he can’t say he blames her. “Doing what? Because there’s not a whole hell of a lot that pays that much and Ned confirmed you didn’t drop out of school.”
The good news is that Ned clearly didn’t tell her what his job was. “Oh, um. Internship, it pays well because its really hard to get into,” he lies.
“Shit, for that kind of money they might as well hire someone to work there full time,” May says and to Peter’s surprise she leaves it alone, settling her hand on his shoulder instead and squeezing. “If you get yourself into trouble, let me know,” she adds after a few moments. His stomach squeezes a little because he’s not in trouble and he doesn’t want to worry her, but he’s not really willing to tell her the truth either.
*
When he gets to Tony’s he’s kind of grateful that he knows exactly what’s going to happen because its a bit of a relief. He’s kind of had enough of wild cards and Tony is nothing if not thorough in his expectations so Peter changes into Liz’s skirt, determine that she’s never going to get it back now because he couldn’t possibly look her in the eye while she wore it and makes his way to the couch in the living room. He’s got homework, mostly writing up a few reports for class and its tedious more than anything but at least it keeps him focused.
Ned has already done his half in the google doc they’re sharing and Peter sends a silent thank you to him for not being a garbage lab partner. He got stuck with Flash once, which was weird because Flash apparently didn’t recognize him and then hit on him like he didn’t spend three quarters of high school calling him ‘penis parker’ and a bunch of other uncreative names when he thought of them. Turns out he’s as smart as he was in high school but he liked to wait until two hours before any given project was due to do the work and that just stressed him out. But Ned is reliable and not a total shithead so his half is done and Peter starts in on his. Might as well be productive before he’s essentially at work.
He’s managed to get a good chunk of it done by the time Tony walks in looking harassed. Peter looks at him over the back of the couch, “bad day?” he asks as Tony walks over.
Tony lets out an irritated sigh, “you could say that. You?” he asks, leaning against the back of the couch.
He could lie, but he doesn’t much see the point. Plus it works, feeling kind of the same way Tony does. “Not much better, but at least I don’t have shitty patterns for group projects so there’s that,” he says.
Tony laughs, “half the struggle in like, any collaborative situation. Which conveniently happens to be my problem. It irritates me when people don’t pull their weight,” he mumbles.
“Yeah, but you can like… fire them. I can’t fire shitty group project members, all I get is a strongly worded email to my professors saying that they’re lazy assbats in the most polite way I can manage.” Which always requires a group ‘is this too salty’ edit from his friends that takes an hour or so before he sends it. Life would be easier if he could just fire people.
“Yeah, but then you have to replace them and that’s a pain in the ass too,” Tony says, looking amused. “Assbats?”
Peter shrugs, “its the best I could come up with on short notice.”
Tony nods and looks him over, gaze stopping at his skirt for a moment. “You wore it,” he says like he hadn’t asked Peter to.
“Yeah, I um, you asked me to,” he points out.
“Doesn’t mean you’d listen. Can I kiss you?” he asks.
Yeah, its not like its a hardship to kiss Tony given that he’s not exactly bad looking so Peter nods. He’s anxious to get into this proper anyway, figure out what Tony is like when he’s actually doing the whole dom thing rather than just as a person. Peter already knows he likes him as a person. Tony looks him over slowly, eyes landing on his lips for a moment before he reaches forward and tilts Peter’s head up a little and leans in. The kiss is soft, sweet- tentative, like he isn’t sure of himself and that’s cute.
He goes to pull away but Peter pulls him back, shifting so he’s leaning up into Tony more. Tony cups his cheek, thumb brushing his cheek as he gently coaxes Peter into it, biting at his bottom lip a little and Peter lets out a soft moan. Tony pulls away but Peter grabs his hand before it can disappear too. “Don’t be cheap on me, Tony, I happen to know you have money,” Peter tells him surprised that he said that.
Tony takes it well though, smiling down at him with amusement. “I knew you were a good choice. Mind if I sit?” he asks, gesturing to the couch.
Peter frowns, “its your house,” he points out.
“Its your space I’d be sitting in,” Tony says.
He shrugs, “feel free,” he tells Tony, closing his laptop and curling his feet up, setting the laptop aside. Tony rounds the couch and reaches out, curling his hand around Peter’s crossed ankles and pulling them into his lap slowly, like he’s giving Peter time to pull away. He doesn’t, he just goes back to stretching his legs out as he settles in. Tony sets his arms down on Peter’s legs, one hand curling around his ankle as he strokes Peter’s ankle bone with his thumb.
“Here,” Tony says, shifting a little as he reaches into his pocket and pulls something out. He hands it to Peter and he frowns.
“A card?” he asks. Some kind of credit card, he assumes but that makes no sense.
“Yeah, a card. Get whatever you need with it. Or whatever you want,” Tony tells him.
“You’re like, aware I get paid, right?” Peter asks, squinting.
Tony snorts, “you’re aware I’m like a billionaire, right?” he asks, raising an eyebrow.
Peter can’t help the small snicker he lets out, “I mean yeah I know that but still. What’s the deal?”
“In my experience people have things to pay for in this line of work, usually something expensive. Take the wiggle room,” Tony tells him.
It occurs to him that Tony thinks he’s paying for school and Peter is happy to let him think that, actually. “Um, okay,” he says, setting the card on top of his computer.
“And buy something that isn’t pizza or hot pockets, I know how college students live,” Tony says and Peter laughs.
“Do you though?” he asks. Someone with as much money as Tony probably didn’t have like, a normal college experience by any stretch.
“Yeah, my lowest point was the time Rhodey and I ran out of food so we made Mr. Noodles with cranberry vodka. I don’t fucking recommend, we threw it up basically immediately,” he says, wrinkling his nose.
Oh god, ugh. “That’s disgusting and way worse than that time we all decided we wanted Frootloops so we went out to get some at three in the morning and came back only to find all the bowls were dirty so we made makeshift bowls out of tin foil.” Then they hate their food like trolls but it was great because they actually managed to find the damn Frootloops. Took a couple stores but they found them.
Tony laughs, shaking his head. “Tin foil bowls?” Peter nods and Tony grins, “that’s creative, I’ll give you that.”
“And disposable, so no extra dishes,” Peter says proudly.
“So you’ll use the card?” Tony states more than asks.
“I mean, if I need it maybe.” He doesn’t really need more money, just what he’s getting so he’s sure it’ll be fine.
“Use the card,” Tony tells him, tightening his grip on Peter’s ankle for a moment. “I gave it to you for a reason.”
“Three am Frootloops?” Peter says, grinning.
“There are better uses than that but sure, three am Frootloops,” he says, staring at him for a long moment before he smiles. “Come here,” he tells Peter, moving his arms off his legs.
Peter shifts, crawling over so he’s sitting in Tony’s lap. He looks a little surprised but recovers fast, wrapping an arm around him as his lips quirk up. “You’re perfect, you know that?” he tells Peter.
He blushes a little and looks away, “I don’t know about that,” he murmurs.
Tony tilts his head back up, “I do, baby. Now, do you want to get into this?” he asks.
Peter nods. “I kind of want to know what I’ve got in store for me,” he says.
Tony pets up his thigh with the hand that isn’t settled on his waist, “well, not too much tonight. Just some basic training,” Tony tells him. He pouts and Tony smiles at him again because apparently he likes that kind of thing. “Don’t look at me like that, you’ll be back soon anyway so its not like you have to wait all that long.”
“Training?” Peter prompts and Tony’s smile gets wider.
“Yeah, baby. You ready?”
*
Peter is on his way home feeling kind of… good when he sees them. He stops for a moment and looks, debates on walking away but he feels giddy and happy and his afternoon with Tony was good and the shoes are pretty. They’re a soft pink, the same one he’d worn at Tony’s the first time he was there and they’d look cute with that skirt he stole from Liz and he doesn’t need shoes. He definitely doesn’t need shoes that he’d probably never wear because where would he wear heels? So he goes to walk away, making it maybe five paces before he turns around and goes back because he likes the shoes and he had a shitty morning, he thinks he’s earned some shoes.

Chapter 194: Intermission: Meet The Trafalgars
Characters: Ruby, Law, The Trafalgar family Rating: T Warnings: Language Notes: Hey friends! I've been so busy lately that I'm still working on the current arc. So, instead of making y'all wait longer for anything, I wrote this in my downtime while I make sure everything is up to my standard for the current arc. Enjoy!
~~~~~
“There’s nothing to be afraid of,” he said. “They’re nice people,” he explained.
Yeah, sure. Ruby was sure they were nice but they hadn’t met her yet. Law told Ruby that it was time to meet his parents, as they were a very serious couple and that he loved her. He was trying to sweeten her up so that she would agree to meet them. The problem was, she was Ruby.
She was a bouncer at a tavern. Yes, a bouncer. That’s how her and Law met. He had walked into the tavern with some friends and she was there. He saw her throw out some jackasses and he apparently “had to talk to her.”
“Hey.”
Ruby looked over from her drink and glared at whoever decided to hit on her tonight. “What?”
He took her annoyance as a challenge and grinned a stupid smug grin. “You were pretty good at that.”
“Kicking people out? Yes, I know. That’s why I was hired.”
He leaned against the bar and Ruby huffed annoyed. “You don’t look like a bouncer.”
“Is the red stilettos?”
“And the tight dress.”
“Hmph, well, it’s never good to take someone at face value.”
“True enough. I’m Law by the way.” Ruby rolled her eyes. “You’re Ruby I assume? I’ve heard about you. The beautiful woman who’s stronger than most men.”
“That’s me. Did you come over because you’re trying to sleep with me? I don’t do that.”
“No, I just had to talk to you. It’s not everyday that I meet someone like you.”
“Meaning?”
He smirked. “Someone who could kick my ass.” Ruby stared at him blankly. “Let’s get to know each other...”
Ruby remembered being annoyed with the millionth attempt to hit on her but she ended up as his girlfriend so he apparently did something right.
Ruby also loved to paint and garden on the side. If she had enough money she would go to art school. Which would be fine if she wasn’t about to be introduced to a family of doctors. The whole family were doctors!! Every.single.one. And Law was all “oh, they’ll love you.” Sure. Whatever.
Ruby sighed from behind the changing screen. “If you say so…”
“How often am I wrong?” Ruby didn’t answer. “See? Just relax, it will be fine.”
“Fine.” She sighed again and stepped out from behind the changing screen. Law stared at her for a moment before starting to snicker. Ruby blushed brightly and glared. “You’re such an asshole.”
“I’m sorry,” he laughed. “But you’re wearing a dress that goes down to your knees and a cardigan. In soft pastels. It’s so out of character.”
“I’m meeting your family! They don’t need to know that you’re dating a skimpy bouncer bitch.”
“But I love my skimpy bouncer bitch.” He walked over and wrapped his arms around her.
“Don’t be cute.” She grumbled. He kissed her forehead and she could feel that stupid grin on his face.
“They’ll love you. I promise,” he said. “Whether you dress out of character or not.”
Ruby groaned. “I’m trusting you.”
“That’s a wise decision.” Ruby scoffed and Law kissed her lips. “You do look very cute, trying to be all Sunday school teacher-like.”
“What was I supposed to wear?” She pouted.
“Jeans would’ve been fine, babe. But since I know you bought this outfit for this occasion, just wear it. I told you look cute, and you do…”
“But?”
“It clearly makes you uncomfortable.” He kissed her forehead.
Ruby closed her eyes and gave him a small smile. “You just like me wearing slutty clothes.”
“True. I do love the way your ass looks in a tiny leather skirt.” He reached behind her and grabbed her butt. “I love you.”
“I love you, too.” They kissed slowly. Ruby pulled away. “Mmm, no we can’t do that. We’ll be late.” She started to rub the lip gloss off of his lips.
“Ruin the fun,” he sighed. He took her hand and smiled at her. “Ready to go?”
She took a deep breath. “Yeah, let’s go.”
After an anxiety filled walk to Law’s parents house, they stood in front of the mansion and Ruby swallowed nervously. They were so rich. She started to feel self conscious about her discount dress.
Law took her hand and squeezed it. Ruby looked over to him and he smiled sweetly at her. Her heart fluttered and she leaned in to kiss him. She absolutely loved him. She smiled at him brightly when they pulled away.
“You’ll do great,” he told her and started to lead her. Ruby swallowed and followed him. He walked into the house without knocking. “Mom! Dad! You home?”
“You home?” Does that mean...he didn’t tell them he was bringing her over?
“Law!” She heard a woman say. “What are you doing here?” A young woman stepped into the entryway. That must be Lammy.
“What are you doing here?”
“I wanted to spend time with my parents?”
“You sure you didn’t just want free food?”
Lammy grinned just like her brother did in these situations. Her gaze switched to Ruby. Ruby shuffled awkwardly and felt like hiding behind Law. She stared at Ruby confused for a moment before switching her gaze back to Law.
“You’re not gay?”
Ruby snorted and Law elbowed her. “I’m asexual,” he said flatly. “Or something like that.” Lammy walked up Ruby and looked her up and down. “Lammy don’t be weird.”
“Oh, oops. You’ve just never brought anyone home.” She smiled at Ruby. “I’m Law’s sister, Lammy.” She held out her hand for Ruby to shake.
“Ruby…” Ruby shook her hand. “I’ve heard a lot about you.”
“Oh, I’m sure you have. I just wish I would’ve heard about you. But it sounds right that I didn’t. Law isn’t exactly the most social of people.”
Ruby smiled fondly. “Yeah.” Lammy blinked before grinning brightly.
Law scoffed, turning the conversation back over to him. “Where are Mom and Dad?”
“They’re in the greenhouse,” Lammy turned. “Let’s go, I want to see their reaction to you having a girlfriend.”
Law made an annoyed noise before taking Ruby’s hand and leading her to the back of the giant house. Law really did grow up rich. Ruby was a little jealous. Her whole life was a struggle and her boyfriend didn’t know the meaning. Her heart squeezed so she squeezed his hand. She loved him very much. He was so sweet to her. He helped her through her trauma. She had no business being resentful.
She took a deep breath and wrapped her arms around his arm. He looked down and ruffled her hair with his free hand.
“You’re cute,” he said softly. Ruby grinned brightly and she watched him blush a little. It was good to know she had that effect on him. Lammy led them to a door and opened it. Ruby held back a gasp. The greenhouse was perfect. It was everything she ever wanted. Greens, flowers, veggies, fruits; anything money could buy, really.
She had dreamed about something like this. Her fantasy that she slipped away to when things got really bad. She swallowed nervously when she caught sight of Law’s parents laughing with each other. Ruby held onto Law’s arm tightly. This wouldn’t be nearly as nerve wracking if Law had actually set this up as a dinner and not something he just decided to spring on his family.
“Mom! Dad! Law is here!” Lammy said joyously. Their parents looked over at their children, and then their eyes landed on her. She shifted nervously. She could watch them process her in their eyes. God, she had the nervous sweats. She was going to murder Law when they left.
“Hey, son.” Law’s dad grinned. “It’s like I don’t see you everyday.”
Law rolled his eyes. “Funny.”
Law worked in the family hospital. Ruby had never really visited, hospitals made her anxious. Doctors made her anxious. She had no idea why she was dating one. She supposed he was cute. Ruby started to grin at herself before stopping. She really shouldn’t get lost in her thoughts when she was meeting new people. New important people.
“This is Ruby,” Law said when his parents walked up to them. “She’s my girlfriend. Ruby, these are my parents, Cian and Iman.”
“Oh,” Cian said. “A...girlfriend?”
“Did you think he was gay, too?” Lammy laughed loudly. She was definitely enjoying this.
“Well…”
“I’m asexual.” Law said through his teeth.
“Ruby, right?” Iman came up to her, ignoring the other three. “It’s nice to meet you,” his father stuck out his hand. Ruby took it and shook his hand. “Law hasn’t said anything about you, although that doesn’t surprise me, he really does keep his personal life personal. How long have you been dating?”
“Uh, four months.”
“...four?” He turned to Law, who looked sheepish. “You’ve been keeping her from us for four months?” Iman sighed. “So how did you meet?”
Ruby shifted awkwardly. “In a bar.” Law said. “She’s the bouncer at The Tidepool, the bar they talk about at work.”
“You’re that bouncer?”
Ruby blushed and nodded. “Uh, yeah. Ari hired me after...um...”
“She kicked some idiot’s ass.” Law finished her sentence.
“Language!” Cian hissed.
“She also paints and gardens in her spare time.” Law ignored his mother. “That painting I put in my office was done by her.”
“Oh!” Iman said. “You must show me your other paintings then. Your work is great.”
“Oh, that’s probably my best work...I, uh, usually don’t do that well.” She mostly did well on that one because Law asked for it and she put in a ton of effort into it. She also spent pretty much all of her spending money on the supplies for that painting, but she never told Law that because he’d lecture her about letting him pay for everything.
“Nah,” Law said. “Don’t say that. You’re great at painting, even if you’re shy about it.”
“I’m not shy,” she said. “I’m...humble.” She definitely didn’t want to say outloud to a family of doctors that she hasn’t been to school since she was 10. That would look...not great. She was already so embarrassed. Law was a rich, intelligent, attractive doctor. She was sure he had many people who wanted to date him. Many people who his parents wanted him to date. And here she was, uneducated, poor, and working in a bar.
What was Law even thinking? He was way too good for her.
“Well, since we're all here as a family, why don’t we go out to eat?” Cian said as she took off her gloves. “We would have made dinner for you Ruby, had Law actually given us warning that he was bringing someone over.”
“Let’s go to Petals,” Lammy said. The three family members started to discuss where they were going to eat when Ruby tugged at the sleeve of Law’s shirt.
“Am I dressed appropriately?” She whispered.
“Yeah?”
“For dinner?”
“Yes. Chill.” He wrapped his arm around her shoulder and kissed her temple. “I promise that it will be okay.”
“Okay.”
It was not okay.
The Trafalgars decided on a steakhouse. The kind where they present steak on a stick and cut it off for you and onto your plate. Ruby was crunching numbers in her head, trying to ration out her money so that she could afford this.
Law looked at her, like he knew what she was doing. “You know you’re not paying for this, right?” He told her quietly. “Don’t be anxious and enjoy dinner.” He grabbed her hand and squeezed it. Ruby relaxed a little, especially when he leaned in and kissed her temple.
“So, Ruby,” Lammy said as she cut her steak. “Where’d you get your tattoo?”
Ruby looked at her. “On the island I lived on before I moved here. I don’t really remember the place or how to get to the island, though.” She shrugged. “Are you interested in tattoos?”
“Just a standard amount. I mean, it covers the side of your leg, that’s a lot of space.”
“It actually covers….” Law trailed off and coughed.
Lammy started to grin devilishly. “Oh, brother, what does it cover?”
“Lammy, I’m going to-”
Ruby became fixated on her salad. Shoving her fork into a cherry tomato, trying to ignore the blush on her face. Law and Lammy started arguing quietly, the way siblings do. Ruby was a little jealous. She wondered if her brother was alive if they would bicker like this.
“Kids,” Iman sighed and interrupted Lammy teasing Law. “We’re adults.” Ruby reached over and patted Law’s knee. She smiled at him, hoping the embarrassment he wore on his face would go away. “Anyways, Ruby, what made you leave that island?”
Ruby shrugged casually. She really didn’t need to tell her boyfriend’s family about her beef with the local military. “Needed a change of scenery. I’ve always been on the move, never really stayed anywhere for too long.”
“What made you stay here?”
“I have a stable job here, and a nice apartment. Things here are calm and safe.” She smiled warmly. “I also really like this guy here.” Law had a faint blush on his cheeks and squeezed her hand. She loved this man. She’d be lying if she said he wasn’t a large factor as to why she stuck around.
“So, what are we doing?” Ruby asked.
“Uh, listening to the radio while I read a book?” Law said looking up from his book.
“Not that. What are we doing?”
“Spending time together? You’re confusing me.”
“I mean…are we just friends?”
“We...we slept together, didn’t we?”
“That doesn’t mean we’re not just friends.”
Law closed his book and turned to her. “What do you want us to be?”
Ruby blushed and looked away. “Well...I...I don’t want you to sleep with anyone else…”
“Is that all?”
“And, I, uh...I like holding your hand.”
Law stared at her before grinning. “You’re cute. Just say what you mean.”
“I want to be your girlfriend.” She mumbled quietly.
“I didn’t hear you.”
“I want to be your girlfriend.”
“Well, that’s a relief, seeing I already thought you were.” Ruby blushed but grinned happily. She leaned in and hugged him, nuzzling his cheek. He chuckled and kissed her.
“Do you miss your family?” Cian asked, bringing Ruby back to reality.
“Yeah,” Ruby said with a sad smile. “A lot. They’re in my thoughts quite often.”
Law’s family looked at her for a moment before realization dawned on their faces. They didn’t say anything, which is what Ruby wanted. She didn’t like talking about her family, and she definitely didn’t want to talk about how they died. She remembered, when her and Law weren’t exactly dating yet, asking him if there was a large government presence in Flevance. He casually said that it was only around White Lead; they mostly left the citizens alone. Ruby was fairly relieved knowing that she would be able to hide in the city from anyone who might still be after her head.
“Where did you learn to paint?” Cian changed the subject.
“I taught myself. I would love to take some color theory classes, but I don’t really have the time or funds to.”
Iman, Cian, and Lammy all stared hard at Law. Ruby blinked and looked to Law, too.
“I’ve already told her I would pay for it. She refuses to let me pay for her.” Ruby started to pout but stopped herself. She was trying to prove that she was an adult who was worthy of dating Law. They didn’t need to see her be a brat.
“It’s fine,” Ruby shrugged casually instead. “It’s not like it's necessary.”
“It’s not about necessity, it’s about that stupid smile of yours when you’re happy.” Law pinched her cheek.
“You’re so mean, Law,” Lammy said with a grin. “I’m surprised someone as cute as Ruby agreed to date you.”
“Didn’t give her much of a choice.”
“That is not what happened.” Ruby scoffed.
“Is it not though?”
Ruby snorted as Law chuckled. She loved this man. She really did.
“So, when’s the wedding?” Lammy cut in, a playful grin on her face.
Ruby blushed bright red. Her face hot as fire. Law cleared his throat and had darkness in his own cheeks.
“We don’t even live together, Lammy.” Law sounded as embarrassed as Ruby felt. She hadn’t thought about marriage. Although, to be fair, she had never thought about marriage in her life. She was mostly enjoying being with Law and all the fun it entailed. She really loved Law, she loved her relationship with Law, but as Law said, they don’t even live together. How can they possibly predict they would be compatible for marriage?
She didn’t even know if Law wanted to get married in the first place.
“So?”
“Alright, Lammy,” Iman grinned at her, “you’ve embarrassed them enough.”
“But they’re cute!”
“Stop.” Law groaned. “You’re going to make me lose my appetite.”
“Ruby.” Lammy ignored Law. “What do you want for dessert?
“Dessert?” She wasn’t even sure if she had room for dessert...she had a lot of steak and salad.
“She’s going to want the chocolate lava cake,” Law said matter-of-factly. Everyone looked at Ruby. “See, her eyes lit up a little when I said that.”
“Law,” Ruby half-whined.
“She’s cute isn’t she?”
All four of the Trafalgars nodded. Ruby blushed and ate another cherry tomato. The rest of the dinner went well. Really well. The family was so cheerful and loving. She was actually surprised at how happy the family was when Law was so...sarcastic and dry. It’s not as if he wasn’t a happy person, he was just very crude. But she liked him that way, and she really liked his family. They all very obviously loved each other and it made Ruby’s chest fill with warmth.
After dinner, Ruby stood in the lobby, waiting for Lammy, Law, and Iman to catch up with Cian. Ruby watched rain clouds roll in and it start to sprinkle. She let out a breath that she felt like she had been holding in since she left her house for this dinner.
“Well, Ruby,” Cian said and grabbed her attention. “You’re always welcome as part of our family.”
Ruby blinked. Just like that? They’ve accepted her just like that? No grilling or hard questions. Just where do you work and what are your hobbies? Ruby blinked a couple more times, her crybaby self starting to tear up. The Trafalgar’s accepted her so easily. All four of them. They were so kind to her, and she barely deserved it. Not the horrible person she was. Even Law doesn’t know everything.
“Th-thank you, Cian. That’s very kind of you.” She managed to say without crying.
Cian smiled brightly. “Well,” she looked at her family, who were all laughing amongst themselves as they walked over to them. “Law has never brought anyone over to meet us. I don’t know if he had ever dated anyone before you, he was always so private and studious. I had wondered what had changed in my son recently, and I believe I found out what.” Cian looked back at the rain. “Anyone who can make my one and only son as happy as you’ve made him is always welcome in my home.”
Ruby grinned widely. “Thank you, that means more than you realize.” Ruby looked at Law. “He’s changed me for the better, that’s for sure.”
Law caught her eye and looked at her curiously. He walked up to her and planted a kiss on her forehead. “Why are you grinning?”
“Gossiping about you.”
“Only good things I hope.”
“Nope, only bad things.” He grinned down at her and kissed her lips. She smiled up at him wistfully. “Thanks for bringing me tonight.”
“You’re welcome.” He looked over to his family staring at them with large, teasing grins. Law stared at them flatly. “We’re leaving now.” Law shoved their take home box into Ruby’s hands. He placed his hand on the small of her back. “Let’s go, I’ll walk you home.”
Ruby wished Law’s family goodnight before they ran out into the rain. They ran to her apartment quickly, laughing at each other and how wet they had gotten. Ruby had placed the food into the refrigerator and they both got into the shower to warm up.
Ruby was happy in her bed (a twin sized bed, both her and Law barely fit) against her pillows when Law started to snuggle her.
“Did you enjoy yourself?”
“It was nice. Your family is nice.”
“They liked you.”
“To be fair, they haven’t seen how I usually dress.”
“I’m sure they will still like you. I know I prefer you wearing the clothes you usually do.”
“Well yeah, because you like my cleavage.”
“That and because you’re actually happy in those clothes.” He kissed her cheek. “I just like you being happy.”
“Gross.”
“I know, what have you turned me into?”
Ruby giggled and wiggled up to him. Law wrapped his arms around her and kissed her ear. He whispered that he loved her and she whispered the words back to him. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
Her life turned into something lovely, and she was thankful for it everyday.
