Tease Tidbit Tuesday!
tagged by @thewolvesof1998 and @wikiangela (you should 100% check out their works!!)
Here's a little bit more dad!Buck, I swear I'm so close to finishing chapter one and then I can FINALLY publish it
Eddie helps Buck get the pancakes ready (Eddie will argue he helps, but in reality, he gives Buck a shoulder rub while Buck cooks. After the great waffle-fire of last year, Eddie isn’t allowed to cook anymore) and when they’re ready, him and Buck trail out to the dining room with plates, cutlery, and enough pancake toppings to sink a ship. Aidan, who’s still sitting in Christopher’s lap, lights up when he sees his dads entering the room and claps his hands delightedly, before raising his arms, begging for Buck to take him. “Let’s get you into your highchair, shall we bud?” Buck says as he swings Aidan out of Christopher’s arms, blowing a raspberry on his stomach. Aidan giggles, the noise light and silvery, filling Buck’s chest up with a warm glow. Man, what he wouldn’t do to hear his boy laugh like that all the time. “Has cake now, Daddy?” Aidan asks hopefully as Buck clips him into the highchair. There’s a snort from the other side of the table and Buck turns to see Eddie sniggering into his fist, sharing an amused look with Christopher. “Food motivated, just like his Dad” Eddie teases with a grin. Buck sends him a playful eyeroll and turns back to Aidan. “Is pancakes good enough, my liege?” he asks, pointing to the stack of pancakes on the table. Aidan looks like he’s about to protest the semantics of cake vs. pancakes but he nods, reaching for a plate. “Pancakes good” he replied, stumbling a little over the long word. Buck places a plate on the table in front of the highchair, transferring a pancake to it and picking up the maple syrup. Aidan watches with fascination as Buck drizzles the pancake with syrup, using the flat of the knife to spread it evenly. Eddie and Christopher are hoeing into their own pancakes with the background and there must be something about watching his Papa and big brother eat that has Aidan deciding that he also needs to have his breakfast immediately. Buck fends off little, grabbing hands as Aidan tries to grab the pancake and shove it in his mouth whole. He’s trying to cut it into small, bite sized pieces with every intention of feeding them to Aidan, rather than letting the kid eat with his hands like they usually let him do. Buck loads up the fork with pancake and hovers it in front of Aidan’s mouth, frowning when the boy keeps his mouth stubbornly closed. “Baby, you gotta open up to eat” he says as he nudges the fork against Aidan’s lips, smearing them with syrup. “Do it myself” Aidan replies, reaching out to grab the fork. Buck pulls it back, a little hesitant. “It’s gonna be messy, Aid. Daddy can feed it to you so we can stay nice and clean” he explains, moving the fork towards his mouth again. Aidan crosses his arms, fixing Buck with a deep frown that has Eddie cackling once again. “I big boy!” he says, pouting. “Give up, babe, he’s not gonna back down” Eddie advises, and Buck relents with a sigh, handing the fork over to an extremely pleased Aidan, who immediately shoves the pancake in his mouth. “Bags not doing bath time” Buck says but Eddie fixes him with a sharp look. “I just did bath time, I shan’t be repeating that experience for at least another 48 hours, thank you.” “Looks like you’re up, Chris.” Christopher snorts through a mouthful of pancake. “You wish” he replies. “I’ll be helping Dad get the place ready for guests.”

Why has there been no series with both Jamie Dornan and Aidan Turner together? Attractive, charismatic, great comedic timing. It would be instant gold.

When Aidan Became a Brother by Kyle Lukoff and Kaylani Juanita
Tumblr media
When Aidan was born, everyone thought he was a girl. His parents gave him a pretty name, his room looked like a girl's room, and he wore clothes that other girls liked wearing. After he realized he was a trans boy, Aidan and his parents fixed the parts of life that didn’t fit anymore, and he settled happily into his new life. Then Mom and Dad announce that they’re going to have another baby, and Aidan wants to do everything he can to make things right for his new sibling from the beginning—from choosing the perfect name to creating a beautiful room to picking out the cutest onesie. But what does "making things right" actually mean? And what happens if he messes up? With a little help, Aidan comes to understand that mistakes can be fixed with honesty and communication, and that he already knows the most important thing about being a big brother: how to love with his whole self.
When Aidan Became a Brother is a heartwarming book that will resonate with transgender children, reassure any child concerned about becoming an older sibling, and celebrate the many transitions a family can experience.

Hi, me again, sorry if I'm pestering, but - you've mentioned a multiHawke scenario before, but what about Keir and Aidan? How would they get on, in a hypothetical AU where they both live to adulthood/are in Kirkwall together?
this au is just keir clinging onto his mage siblings like:
Tumblr media
it wouldn’t be totally conflict free because keir is a protective guard dog and aidan is a showy blood mage funnyman who would give his poor brother one thousand heart attacks a day. also because aidan at least in acts 1 and 2 loves kirkwall and wants the estate and the noble life meanwhile keir is clawing at the walls from the start like can we Please go back to ferelden Please
but keir would let aidan get away with anything rlly, and aidan, who is the archetype of the talkative guy with a lot of friends who ultimately feels quite alone and is never sure who would really have his back if it came to it, would feel much safer and more assured with him around. they’re my two most unequivocally pro mage hawkes too. this is also one of the friendliest pairs of my hawkes to put in the same worldstate bc they’d both be thrilled with their siblings-in-law

Mod opinion: I haven't read this book, but it sounds incredibly sweet.

I've started expanding on this thread on the accursèd bird app. It will update...*gestures vaguely* I'm super behind on literally all of my wips, and this one has decided to add itself to the pile. I'm hiding this here bc I'm not even done with the thread yet. fml
Concept: Keith as an identical triplet, following canon with a few new steps, and, of course, a side of klance
~~~
Three small boys squished themselves into the farthest corner of the same bed, clinging to each other, their stuffed hippos, each with an initial stitched onto the bottom of a front paw, crushed between their tiny bodies. They had been pulled out of school in the middle of the day by people they didn’t know, scared and confused, the adults around them saying things like “caught in a house fire”, “didn’t make it out”, “we don’t have any other family listed, not even their mother”.
When they asked where their dad was and that they wanted to go home, one of the adults looked at them sadly and said that they could go home for a little while, but that their dad wasn’t coming back, and they would have to go with the adults after they’d packed some things. The boys burst into tears, one out of fear of something they didn’t understand, one looking more furious than a six year old should, and the other shut down, going silent and refusing to look at anyone.
The adults had managed to find a place for them for the night, a temporary solution until a group home could be found.  This one was in a residential area just off a main road in town, far too noisy for three little boys used to the silence of the desert.
By bed time their tears had dried, but they were still afraid of what was to come, and listened in the dark of their room to the muffled voices on the other side of the closed door.
“They’re refusing to be separated.”
“At least two of them have bitten staff when they try.”
“I mean, I understand why they’re aggressive.”
“Oh, I know.  Losing a parent is always hard, especially that young.”
“They’re only six…”
“I’m going to put in a recommendation they stay together.”
“It’ll be harder to place them.”
“I know, but I think this is the best thing for them.”
“They’re going to have a hard life no matter what we do.”
“At least this way they’ll still have each other.”
The voices moved away from the door, fading away down the hall, and the three boys eventually drifted off, still holding each other close.
The next morning, their social worker found them in the exact same place in the bed farthest from the door, the other two beds untouched.  She woke them gently, ready for one of the parts of her job she liked least, welcoming Aidan, Keith, and Finn, identical triplets, to their new life in the Texas foster care system as orphaned wards of the state.
Suspicious, duty obsessed older brothers, and their concerned, too-pure-of-heart younger brothers.
I’ve been doing a Supernatural rewatch with my mother, who previously hadn’t seen past the first season and we are now starting the fourth, and Dean and Sam keep reminding me of Fili and Kili.💖
They even have a grumpy “Uncle” in Bobby. He reminds me of Thorin, as such he is wicked smart, brave and well spoken but also blunt and emotional. And they both be rocking them beards😁👍🧔🏻
I'm participating in the Trans Rights Readathon (March 20th-March 27th) created by Sims-bookstagrams-badly AND I'm doing this Trans Book Challenge (no time frame) on The StoryGraph!
This is my second book for the week: When Aidan Became a Brother, written by Kyle Lukoff and illustrated by Kaylani Juanita!
Tumblr media
I don't often read children's books these days, but when I was the target age group for this book, nothing like this existed (or, if it did, I never ran across it in school libraries, public libraries, or friends & family's private libraries - and I was voracious reader from a young age). SO I am using my various trans reading goals as an excuse to make up for lost time! I've heard so much about this one, and the illustrations are GORGEOUS. I'm hyped to read it.
The full summary of When Aidan Became a Brother can be found here.
And you can donate to Mermaids here and/or the Trans Health Legal Fund here!
Happy trans reading y'all!!!
