“Maleficent – the untold story” by aanhthuuuu

This is our winning play at our school’s English Festival, and we also won Second prize at our District’s level with this play. Enjoy! This is a musical play but since posting here does not allow for a table, I will omit the music parts and only focuses on the lines parts.

SCENE 1: BROKEN WING (IN THE FOREST)

Narrator: (Walking out from a side of the stage) Once upon a time, in a far far away wonderland called Barbieland / peaceful forest kingdom, there was a powerful but pure-hearted fairy named Maleficent. One day, while Maleficent was hanging out, something terrible happened, which turned her heart into stone.

Maleficent (Appearing at the same time, enthusiastic): I believe

I can fly, I believe I can touch the sky, I think about it every night and day, spread my wings and fly away. (flip wings)

Stefan (laughing): Wow! What beautiful wings! If I brought it back to the King, I would be given the crown. (laughing loudly)

(While Stefan is speaking, Maleficent still dances until Stefan comes and cuts her wings)

Maleficent: Arghh, now I believe I can’t fly… (voice slowing down, gradually fall to the ground)

Why human? Whyyy…

Stefan: Because your wings are beautiful and the king wants them to be decorations for his castle.

Maleficent: WHAT? No, come back here human, wait, wait…

(Stefan running away proudly, leaving Maleficant crawling behind) Maleficent: (crying) I hate humans, I hate you..... I swear, I will revenge! I will! (shouting, then bowing down, collapsing to the ground)

SCENE 2: THE BIRTH OF THE NEW PRINCESS

Inside the castle, people are celebrating the birth of the new princess. The King and Queen sit in the middle with a craddle in front of them and knights to their sides.

Narrator: After cutting Maleficent’s wings, Stefan was crowned. He then got married to Leila, the King’s daughter, and soon their child was born. A grand celebration was held for a new-born baby. All fairies were invited except for Maleficent.

Three fairies walk in

Fairy 1: Your Majesty. We are fairies from the Barbieland. We want to give your princess some special gift.

Fairy 1: What a lovely baby! My gift for you is beauty.

Fairy 2: My dear Aurora, my gift for you is to never be blue. You will be happy every day in your life.

Fairy 3: Dear princess, I wish that you’ll be loved by everyone you meet. Every one.

Queen Leila: Thank you so much. We are very grateful.

King Stefan: Okay my people! Let’s dance! Let’s dance for the birth of my daughter!

Servant 1: Music. (Everyone dances to the music of “Ode to Joy”, pre-choreographed)

Out of a sudden, Maleficent appears

Maleficent: STOPPPPPP (tapping her stick)

Dance group: OMG, that’s Maleficent, the dark fairy.

Maleficent: Well well well. What a glittering party, King Stefan. I must say, I really felt quite distressed at not receiving an invitation.

King Stefan: You're not welcomed here.

Maleficent: Oh. [Maleficent Starts Laughing]. Oh dear! What an awkward situation. Anyway, I think I should give your child a gift too.

King Stefan: Don’t do this please, Maleficent, I’m begging you.

The Queen protects the craddle, King places his one arm around the Queen, one arm raising up to stop Maleficent.

Maleficent: No. You deserve this. She deserves it. Listen well. Before the sun sets on her sixteenth birthday, your daughter will prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel, and fall into a deathlike sleep. And only true love’s kiss could revive her.

King Stefan and Queen: No, Maleficent, noooooooo….

Maleficent: Oh, the curse can only be broken only by true love’s kiss.

Maleficent laughing maglinantly before leaving the stage

Narrator: King Stefan was horrified. He ordered his servants to hide all the spinning wheels in the whole Kingdom. Then the king sent his daughter, Aurora, to live with the three good fairies / until the day after her sixteen birthday.

The King entrusts the princess to 3 fairies, 3 fairies carry the princess away SCENE 3: AURORA - IN THE FOREST

In the forest, Aurora dances happily to “The Show” by Lenka. Maleficent is reading book under a tree.

Narrator: Time passed by, Aurora grew up into a beautiful girl, just lovely and pure-hearted like Maleficent when she was young. One day, while she was playing in the forest, …………

Aurora: What a beautiful day! The sky is blue, the air is fresh and I can see flowers and birds everywhere. (and starts singing to the lyrics of “The Show”)

Aurora: Ohhhh

Aurora notices Maleficent and comes closer

Aurora: Whatcha doing? …….Oh, I know you.

Maleficent: You know me?

Aurora: Yes. You’re my fairy god-mother. I saw you in my dream.

Maleficent: What? Go away, beastie.

Maleficent continues to read, Aurora keeps peaking in and out, with Maleficent constantly pushing her away. After a few times, the two read together. Aurora rests on Maleficent’s shoulder and Maleficent fondles with her hair.

Narrator: Despite her initial dislike for Aurora, Maleficent began to have motherly feelings for the girl. And so did Aurora. She loved Maleficent as if she was her mother.

Maleficent: You’re such a lovely little creature. The two goes down to the backstage.

SCENE 4: MEETING THE PRINCE - IN THE FOREST

Aurora dances happily before bumping into the prince

Aurora: I must tell my aunties about my fairy god mother. I’m sure they will love her, too.

(Royal trumpet) Prince servant: Out of the way, prince Phillip of the Naight is coming.

(Aurora keeps running. The prince comes to her)

Prince: Hi gorgeous

Aurora: My pleasure. I have to go now, your Majesty…

Prince (plucks a wild flower and places on Aurora’s hair): Wait. This flower is for you. Though I know it is nothing compared to your beauty.

Aurora: Thank you for your kind words, my prince. But I have to go now… Farewell. SCENE 5: AT THE THREE FAIRIES’ HOUSE

Aurora: Hi aunties, I’ve got something to tell you. I’ve got a new friend. Her name is Maleficent.

The 3 fairies are frozen

Fairy 1: drops her broom

Fairy 2: (facial expression) drops her mirror

Fairy 3: drops her mop

Fairy 2: This is really bad.

Fairy 3: Oh my dear, are you ok? Did she hurt you?

Aurora: Oh, no. Why would she hurt me? She is so nice and kind to me.

Fairy 3: Don’t you know that she was the one who cursed you right on your birthday. (suddenly realizes and covers her mouth)

Aurora: You’re saying about the curse? I am sorry, can you pardon please… but what curse?

The 3 fairies look at each other and nod, aggering to tell the story to Aurora.

Fairy 1: You’d better sit down, dear. There’s sth you should know.

Narrator: The fairies told aurora the whole story, that she was actually a princess, and that she was cursed by Maleficent. But they forgot to tell her about the spinning wheel. Aurora was shocked. She ran into the woods to find the answer from Maleficent.

Aurora leaves, the 3 fairies follow behind

In the forest, Aurora meets Maleficent

Narrator: Aurora met Maleficent and asked her about the curse. Maleficent was broken hearted, telling Aurora that it was just a moment of hatred and anger but she was sorry about that now. She had tried to revoke the curse but it was impossible. Aurora was miserable. She had loved Maleficent so much. She left the forest and ran all the way back to the castle.

SCENE 6: THE CASTLE

Aurora rushes to the castle, meets Stefan and bows down.

Aurora: Your Majesty, I’m wondering if….

King Stefan: Aurora, why are you here? You are supposed to be in the forest, with the three fairies.

Aurora: Father, I know everything. I know everything now.

King Stefan: No, Aurora, you don’t know anything. It’s your sixteenth birthday today…. Aurora, listen to me. You must go to your room. Stay there for your own safety. OK. Guards. Close all the gates. Prepare your weapons. The dark fairy will be coming any time.

Narrator: Aurora ran to her room. However, the power of the curse drew her to the dungeon, where remnants of a spinning wheel pricks her finger. She fell into a deep sleep, fulfilling the curse.

Stefan: Oh, no, Aurora. Wake up. What am I supposed to do?

Phillip runs in, seeing Stefan by Aurora’s side.

Phillip: OMG, is that the beauty I met in the woods! What’s wrong with her?

Stefan: She was cursed into a deathlike sleep, maybe never-ending sleep and only a true love’s kiss can wake her up again.

Phillip: A true love kiss? My royal highness! I have met her before. To be honest, I’ve fallen for her from the sight. Let me try, what if I can wake her up.

The Prince bows down to kiss Aurora’s hand, then puzzled as to why Aurora hasn’t waken up (maybe do some more kisses on the hand in vain)

Phillip: Why? Am I not her true love?

Maleficent (sadly walking in): FREEZE

Everyone freezes.

Maleficent kneels by the princess, cries emotionally

Maleficent: Aurora. I’m not asking you for forgiveness. Because what I’ve done to you is unforgivable. I was so lost in hatred and revenge. Sweet Aurora, you stole the rest of my heart. And now, I’ve lost you forever. …. I swear no harm will come to you as long as I live. And not a day shall pass that I don’t miss your smile.

Maleficent slowly kisses on Aurora’s forehead.

The FREEZE spell ends, things return to normal.

Stefan (heading towards Maleficent): You, evil witch. Look at what you have done to her. I’ll kill you.

Stefan and Maleficent fights.

Aurora wakes up, the 3 fairies shout AURORA out loud.

Fairy 2: Maleficent is her true love.

Maleficent and Stefan both stops to say AURORA. Maleficent rushes towards Aurora, Stefan stops her.

Stefan: Stay away from my daughter.

The 2 continues to fight.

Aurora: Stop everyone, stop, please. An eye for an eye will only make the world blind. Hatred does not cease through hatred, but only by love; this is the eternal rule. You are the two persons I love the most. Can you please forget this revenge and we can live in peace together?

Maleficent and Stefan drops down their swords, coming over to hug Aurora.

Stefan returns the wings to Maleficent (I’m so sorry) From the backstage, all dancers come out and dance to the pre-choreographed dance. Narrator: That’s the end of the story. You all know what happens. They live happily together forever.

Tony pulls onRhodey’s air force hoodie when he crawls out of bed at eleven.

He’s grateful it’sSaturday because that means he doesn’t have to try and piss Pepperoff in a sentence or less so she doesn’t realize he’s sick.

Miserably, horriblysick.

His chest aches andhis lungs feel like they’re filled with wet cotton and his head isthrobbing—he’s had hangovers that felt better than this.

At the bedroom door,he pauses a minute to put his head against the wood and moan tohimself, “Ughhh, whyyy.”

Then he sniffles andsmacks his cheeks a little to try and make himself look less likedeath warmed over. He’s forty-three and he’s not about to let histeammates see him as the old man just because the only one older thanhim is Banner. And Thor, technically. Whatever.

The point is, he’snot old and he’s not sick and no one can tell him otherwise.

He takes a deepbreath and then stands there hacking for another three minutes.

Finally, when hisbreathing has faded to just a slight wheeze, he opens the door andheads for the kitchen.

He hears voices ashe approaches, so he picks up the pace and lifts his head, eventhough it sucks the energy out of him almost instantly. Shouldersback, he strides into the kitchen and makes a beeline for thecoffeepot without looking around.

Still, he seesSteve’s broad back at the stove from the corner of his eye and hearsClint explaining what the Muppets are, so Thor must be here too.

Blessedly, when hereaches the coffeepot, it’s full, and hot, and thank you.He quickly fills a mug, ignoring how his arm shakes from the exertion(ha!) of holding the full pot. Then he lifts the mug up to his face,steam curling around his cheeks and softening the lump of gunk in hishead so that it aches ever-so-slightly less.

Hegroans a little and then starts when Thor calls, “Coffee is good,is it not?”

“Ow,shit,” he hisses, when some of the liquid slops over the edge.

“Idid not mean to startle you! Are you injured?”

“No,I’m fine,” Tony blurts, forgetting he sounds like he’s beengargling battery acid. Fortunately, no one mentions it, so maybe it’snot that noticeable.

Hetakes a sip of the coffee and grimaces. It tastes awful. Damn coldsruin everything.

He’lldrink it anyway.

“Havea seat, Tony,” Steve says, “I’m just about done with the eggs andbacon.”

“Hetried French toast and he burnt it all,” Clint confides with acheerful sort of evil glee.

Steveglares and Tony can’t help but smile.

“Sure, why not,” he says and gratefully sinks onto one of the chairs atthe counter.

Thorgives him an entirely too-knowing look, but instead of the questionTony’s bracing for, he says, “Do you know of these Muppets Clintspeaks of?”

“Uhhuh, sure,” Tony says and tries not to cradle his coffee toolovingly.

“Whowas your favorite?” Clint asks.

“Rizzo,”Tony answers immediately, because it’s what people would expect himto say.

Clintsnorts. “No, it wasn’t. Who was it really?”

Tonyfeels a little weird about Clint catching him out in that lie soeasily, but it’s too hard to think and he can’t muster up the energyto get worked up about it. “Kermit,” he admits.

“Thefrog!” Thor says, obviously pleased that he recognizes what Tony’stalking about.

“Yeah.”Tony hides his smile with another sip of vile coffee. “Ihated Sam the Eagle,” he adds absently. Clint gives him a lookthat says go on. Heshrugs. “He reminded me of Captain America.”

There’sa very awkward silence and that’s when Tony’s brain catches up withhis mouth. He sips his coffeeaggressively, horrified.

“Well,”Steve finally says, shooting a crooked smile over his shoulder,“hopefully you like Steve a little better.”

Itsounds like a question and Tony’s clearly lost control of hisfaculties because he says, “Yeah, Steve’s okay. Captain America’s areal asshole though.”

He’swildly relieved when Steve laughs.

“Gladto hear it. Breakfast’s done.”

Clintleans up on his barstool to peer across the way. “How much of it’sburnt?”

“Onlyabout twelve percent,” Steve says with a sly look at Tony.

Tonygroans. “She told you about that. When will that woman let melive.” He glareshalfheartedly at Steve as he sets a plate down in front of him. “Icould amend my opinion of Steve, you know.”

Stevegrins. “Eat your breakfast.”

Whenhe looks down, Tony’s surprised to find there are two orange gelcapsules on his plate along with the un-burnt looking food.

When—how?

Finally,he decides not to question it and surreptitiously pops them in hismouth, swallowing them down with another mouthful of unpleasantcoffee. He nibbles at thefood after that, but it doesn’t sit well in his stomach.

Histemperature must be spiking again because his head feels like it’sfull of air and he’s shivering even though it feels like he couldheat the eggs Steve gave him back up on his face.

Hestartles when Thor drapes a furry blanket across Tony’s lap. “Feelthis,” he commands.

Tonyworks his fingers free of his cold coffee mug and reaches down to petthe fur. He hears himself make a quiet noise in his throat when hetouches it. It’s thick and incredibly soft.

“Muchbetter than your ‘fleece’, is it not?”

“I’llsay,” Tony murmurs, slowly clenching his hands around fistfuls ofit. It’s also warm.“’s nice.”

Belatedly,Tony realizes Thor has left the blanket on Tony’s lap and he doesn’tappear to have any intention of retrieving it.

They knew,the functioning part of his brain realizes. They knew andthey didn’t make a fuss.

He’sa little embarrassed that he tried so hard for nothing, but it’seclipsed by the warm rush he feels at the fact that they’re quietlytaking care of him.

“Thanks,”he blurts, staring down at his plate and hoping they know what hereally means.

Thor’sbig, hot hand settles over the back of his neck and Tony’s eyes slip closed at how good it feels. “You need not thank us,” he murmurs. “Weare your comrades and it is only right.”

Tonygiggles mentally. I have comrades.

"I dont know! But thats not the point" grunted Hatori while shaking his head "it's time for some retaliation-"

"so your idea for retaliation...is to sell him on ebay?" deadpanned Minegishi. Hatori wasnt dumb, he could hear the snicker behind that flat expression.

"Laugh all you want!" hatori said pointing an acussatory finger to Minegishi "But I am tired of letting Shimazaki do whatever he wants with us without facing any consequence!"

"Are you still mad about the raccoon thing?" Shibata laughed and dried his hands to pat Hatori on the back " C'mon Hatori! It was just one rabies shot and the doctor said it was just in case "

Hatori flustered when this time Minegishi openly snickered "You got rabies shots? Arent you supposed to get those as kids?"

"why would i know? Do you even have yours?" hatori mumbled embarrased

This made Minigishi stop laughing "I dont know"

"Aha!" exlaimed Hatori completely forgetting his embarrasment to latch on this "what if that bastard decides to bring ANOTHER raccoon in here?!"

"He wouldn't-"

"Are you sure? Absolutely sure?"

At Minegishis lack of response Hatori exclaimed victoriously "See? And this is why you have to suport me on my plan!"

"Sell him on ebay you say..." Minegishi muttered while tapping the kitchen counter with his fingers

"You cant be seriously considering this Minegishi" Shibata said increduously "Have you lost your minds? We arent selling our friend on internet."

"Hes not my friend" hatori quipped

" And I never said i agreed on selling him on ebay" Minegishi continued "But Hatoris right and its time we put to some limits on him"

"YES"

"And thats why we should talk to him instead of THAT"

"SHIBATA NOOOO"

"Shibatas right"

"NOOOOOOO" Hatori cried miserably, victory had been so close "whyyy?

"Im sorry buddy but thats the right and mature thing to do" said Shibata not sorry at all

"Hatori stop whinning and go set the table so we can finally eat"

Minegishi rolled his eyes at Hatoris sulking form and finished cooking with Shibatas help

Once he entered the living room to place the finished food on the table he noticed Hatori glancing around dubiously

"Is something wrong?"

" I was just wondering if i should put another set. Is the bastard going to eat with us?"

"Speaking of which" called Shibata entering the room behind Minegishi with the last of their homemade food "Where is he?"

" i don't know" shrugged Minegishi " he was annoying me because he was bored and you were late and i told him to go and find something else to do before i choked him"

"And he just did as he was told?"

"I had to threaten him with starvation and not buying his cereal first but it worked"

Shibata hummed "He probably went dog sighting"

"Probably"

"How long was that?"

"Like 5 minutes before you arrived"

" Then it will be a while before he returns"

Minegishi shrugged again "I wouldnt worry about him"

They were hawlfway throught their food when Hatori noticed something In shimazakis makeshift cabinet

"Are those his glasses?"

Minegishi turned to where Hatori was pointing "yes"

"I thought he wore them always" shibata wondered

"I guess he did listen when I complained about dogs saliva on the glasses if he is indeed dog sighting"

"Im pretty sure he is" Shibata said confidently "Dog saliva? Really?"

"Yeah between that and paws stains on his clothes..."

"oh, i know! The first time was really difficult to get rid of the stench of trash but i found..." Shibatas words died in his mouth when he saw Hatori stand up to pick the glasses.

Minegishi stared confused "What are you doing?"

Hatori didnt respond and when he made his way to his forgotten backpack Shibata facepalmed.

"Buddy, no. Did you seriously bought those?"

Hatori turned around with a devilish smile on his face while clearly hiding something behind his back. "Well i actually never thought you would help me with the ebay plan"

Minegishi looked at Shibata with a look that said he clearly was expecting some kind of clarification.

"We passed a toy store on our way here and Hatori saw... something. I cant explain. Just show him already" said Shibata shaking hs head clearly dissapointed.

Hatori proudly revealed the things on his hands

It was two pair of glasses. One were shamazakis and the others were one of those funny looking glasses for disguises with crazy swirly colourful cartoon eyes that seemed to wink when moving around and stupid antennaes that ended in a pink cotton ball hanging from the sides.

It was the stupidest thing Minegishi had ever seen.

"You do realize he wont fall for this. Do you?" Minegishi deadpanned once again "He will immeditaley feel the movement of those antennaes"

"Have more faith in me" huffed Hatori while taking off the apparently removable antennaes making the glasses look a little less stupider, but stupid nonetheless.

Minegishi picked both glasses and turned them around. He had to give some credit to Hatori. He managed to find a pair with the exact same shape as Shinazakis and made with the same cheap plastic. They were perfect ...except for one thing.

"They don't weight the same" minegishi said raising the toy glasses. To be honest he wasnt sure, but it was an educated guess.

"You gotta be kidding me right?" Hatori exclaimed "who cares? He wont even notice that!"

Ravus x Fem!Reader: Glances Ch. 5

‘I am so stupid!’ you huffed angrily in your thoughts, ‘Why do I always fall for someone like that?! Do I enjoy feeling like garbage? Am I a masochist? Urgh!’

You slammed the box of folders down on Aranea’s desk. Luckily, she had not been in her office, so you had used your key to get inside.

‘Idiot! That’s what happens when you go making out with a colleague!’

A mixture of desperate anger and hopeless gloom weighted you down. You really should have known. It never ended well, did it? Life was not a movie or a romance novel. Men like Ravus just didn’t magically fall in love with someone like you. You were ashamed of even having gotten your hopes up, but since the accident had already happened, there was not much you could do anymore.

Your mood did not improve during the rest of the day, but luckily you saw no sign of Ravus. You did not fancy the thought of running into him right now.

However, the next morning when you arrived at work, you noticed him by the café door. Your heart sank and not matter how much you willed it, you couldn’t stomp down the shred of hope rearing its head inside you.

You strictly decided to ignore Ravus. He was fixated on you with a cup of whatever fancy coffee he usually drank. You hurried your steps to the relative safety of your office, but he called out to you.

“Y/N! Hold on.”

A chill flushed through your body, raising a wave of goosebumps on your skin and the hairs upon your arms. You halted after another step and carefully turned to look at the approaching man. Your eyes instantly found his lips and you mentally slapped yourself. It was really not the time for longing gazes.

“There’s something we need to talk about,” Ravus said in a surprisingly even tone, as if he was just reading the words from a paper out loud. However, his stare was still intimidating.

“Is there?” you winced and cleared your throat to gain some strength in your voice, “I’m busy,” you continued sternly.

You had arrived an hour early at work to have time to enjoy a cup of coffee in peace and to catch up on Aranea’s teaching materials for the day. But now it seemed you would have to change your plans, since the pathway to the café was compromised by an angry looking, gorgeous man.

Ravus’s brows furrowed and the painfully familiar glare was back on his face.

You almost sighed in relief. “I mean, can it wait?” you asked carefully, really hoping that he would give up.

“Yes, never mind then. I suppose you have more important things to do… being an intern and all.” His voice had taken a step towards the icy coldness. Hurt was evident on his face and it made you bite back your intended response. Instead of saying “EXCUSE ME” in the angry tone that wanted to push through, you said:

“G-good. Excuse me,” and held back the reflex to swallow.

Ravus turned to leave without saying another word, so you took the chance and hurried away. When you closed the office door, you were left alone with your wildly running mind and thumping heart.

Over the following week, you began chastising yourself from not hearing Ravus out. Maybe he had just wanted to apologize, again. Or, maybe it had been about something completely different? Nevertheless, he had looked like you had just insulted him in the worst possible way and that erased any hopes of a replay you might have harbored. Ravus Nox Fleuret did not seem like the type to offer second chances easily. The thought made you even more upset because of your own stupid actions.

‘This is going to be a miserable semester.’

Unless… you would try to do something about it. You paused. You knew the situation was probably unsalvageable. You just did not want to let go. Ravus’s hurt expression played on repeat in your mind along with his cold words. Had he gone out of his way in trying to talk with you? Probably. Did it seem like something he just didn’t do? Absolutely. Had you fucked up? Majorly.

You made a decision: The next time you would see Ravus, you would ask him what he had wanted to talk about. All possible scenarios from another make out session to him getting you fired because of sexual harassment went through your head.

But when the moment of truth finally came a few days later, you were totally unprepared to face him.

You heard laughter and picked up a stack of graded essays to give to Aranea. Ravus was talking with her, casually leaning against the doorframe to her office. The distance from your office to the one next door was longer than imaginable and all the while walking, you stared at Ravus’s gorgeous from. Your palms were sweating and all the openers you could say were heavily judged in your mind.

“H-hey,” you stammered as lamely as you possibly could.

Ravus’s scrutinizing gaze was instantly on you. Aranea called you inside and your legs were numb as Ravus stepped into the office to let you past him. A whiff of his heavenly scent caught your senses.

“Here’s the essays,” you said mechanically and offered the papers to Aranea.

“Oh, thanks. That was fast,” she said with a surprised smile and turned to speak to Ravus: “See? Maybe you should hire an assistant too.”

You didn’t have it in you to turn to face his gaze, but you sure felt it on your back.

“Seems like a waste of time. I’d rather do the work myself to be spared from any further… disputes.” Ravus’s tone was ice cold and you were sure the words contained a spike for you. Your brain just didn’t want to comprehend the thought of him insulting you on purpose.

However, his next words left no place for doubt.

“You’re such a killjoy,” Aranea said and laughed. She flashed a smile for you, which almost made you feel better.

“Well I haven’t gotten a reason to hire one, looking at your intern.” Ravus’s voice was not mean, he simply stated a fact.

You blanched.

“You haven’t seen what she can really do,” Aranea said, taking a defensive tone, but still trying to keep the talk as the light banter it had been before your arrival. Sure, Ravus was often in a bad mood these days, but he had just crept a little below his usual level of politeness and frankly, Aranea was surprised.

“Well pardon me for not living up to your expectations. Excuse me, I have actual work to do…” you heard the words flowing from your mouth, but your mind was numb.

You turned to leave and looked strictly past Ravus as you passed him. Stubbornly you held your breath to not catch even an accidental sniff of his scent. Each step towards your office made you angrier and by the time you closed the door behind you, you had to restrain yourself from turning back to give Ravus a piece of your mind.

‘He is a frigid jerk.’ You scoffed and sat by the desk, leaning heavily on your elbows. You were really not in the mood to do work anymore as your mind kept coming up with insults to throw at Ravus and having an imaginary with fight him.

Soon you began to realize that all your imaginary fights kept ending the same way: You against the office wall and Ravus’s breath hot on your skin.

You threw a pen at the opposite wall and it rolled on the floor. “Whyyy…” You dragged your palms down your cheeks and grunted.

‘What have I done to deserve this?’ you thought and got on your feet to pick up the pen.

‘Oh, right. I made out with an insanely hot colleague in the storage room and he regrets it. That’s what.’ You heaved a sigh. It was clear that you were not going to get any work done anymore, so you might have as well leave for the day.

Having to keep your focus on the traffic helped to take your mind off Ravus, but as you were greeted by the silence of your empty apartment, all those thoughts crashed right back. You kept chastising yourself of reliving the storeroom scene in your thoughts and simultaneously fantasizing about what could have happened.

Dinner did nothing to keep away the memory of feeling Ravus’s lips against yours. Neither did housework. Before you knew it, you had cleaned your apartment from floor to ceiling and were completely exhausted.

‘I might be an idiot, but he’s a total ass,’ you huffed in your thoughts and slumped down on the couch. You stared at the cover of the book that resided on the coffee table. The image was almost spitting at you as it depicted a man and a woman, captured in a searing kiss. Your cheeks were burning.

‘Then why can’t I stop thinking about his hands on my body?’

You reached out to turn the book upside down and grabbed the remote.

“What’s with the romance flicks tonight?” you huffed angrily as you kept browsing the channels. ‘Not another kiss scene! NO! Not another cringe-worthy sex scene! Urgh!’

Even the documentary channel showed various mating habits of the mammals on Eos and that was too much for you. Eventually you just gave up with the television and went to sleep. Or rather, to scold yourself about thinking of Ravus.

The next morning you felt miserable. Not just because of the badly slept night, but because despite of all the thinking you had done, you still had not come up with any other solution than to stay away from Ravus. The thought made you angry and sad. How had you failed so miserably to judge his character and let yourself get into such a situation? It was unbelievable. And just as much your fault as Ravus’s.

“Is everything okay?” Aranea asked, glancing curiously at you in the midst of her lunch.

You couldn’t help but to heave a sigh. “Yes.” You wanted to thank Aranea for standing up to you when Ravus was being an ass, but somehow you thought it best not to draw any more attention to the matter.

“Okay then…” Aranea said slowly, not buying your curt reply. “Wanna talk about it?”

You let out an irritated chuckle. “Not really. I want to forget all about it.” You bit into your tuna-filled baguette and munched angrily.

“You mean Ravus?” Aranea asked sharply. Her eyes were intently studying your frown that only deepened.

“Sorry, I know he is your friend and colleague, but he is an ass,” you said with your mouth full.

Aranea laughed mirthfully. Your words were the furthest thing from news to her. “He can be. He isn’t usually so rude like yesterday. But don’t worry, I already let him know that.” A mischievous grin spread on her lips and she returned her attention to the food.

‘Does she know what happened? No way Ravus would’ve told her…’ You cleared your throat after swallowing.

“Thanks,” you said, “Uh, so what did you say to him?” You tried to sound more disinterested than you were in reality, but there was no fooling Professor Highwind.

“That we are not in kindergarten anymore, so pulling hair is not taken as a sign of affection,” Aranea said and chuckled lightly, “At least not in the stage you guys apparently are.”

Good thing your mouth was empty or otherwise you might have choked. “S-stage? I don’t know what you’re talking about. We are not… in… any…” Your voice trailed off under Aranea’s amused look.

“Well, well. So you are closer to the hair pulling stage than I thought. What happened?”

You looked around you to make sure no one was listening. ‘Am I seriously discussing this with my boss?’ Aranea looked expectantly at you. ‘I guess I am…’

You managed to pull a thin smile. “We had a moment. And it was a mistake,” you explained, trying to sound as neutral as possible. The make out session so did not bother you anymore. You were completely over Mr. Frigid Jerk.

“Was he any good?” Aranea didn’t bother to hide her wide grin.

A heavy blush flushed your face. Your ears felt hot and you placed your palms on them to cool them down. “That’s not the issue here!” you cried louder than you had intended to.

Aranea laughed, again. “You two are hopeless, really.” She shook her head.

“So, uh–“ you awkwardly started.

“I’ll talk to him,” Aranea said.

“No! I mean, please don’t. I just want to forget it ever happened,” you said quickly. You heart was beating uncomfortably loud in your ears and the blush had only slightly settled.

Aranea sighed through her nose and examined your pained expression. “Understood. Do what you need to do, Y/N.”

You accepted her words with a grateful nod.

Two days passed with you voluntarily holed up in your office with a mountain of paperwork. You dreaded the moment you would eventually bump into Ravus. It was very unlikely that he would try to strike a conversation with you ever again, but you still didn’t fancy the thought of his scornful look upon you.

But as it were, you could not avoid him forever.

Your mind was calmer and not completely filled with guilt and Ravus anymore, when you left your office to go for lunch. Fumbling with your keys and about to lock the office door, you paid no mind to the lonely steps echoing in the corridor. After hearing the satisfying click from the lock, you turned.

The second you noticed Ravus walking towards you, your eyes snapped strictly forward, not allowing yourself another glance at him. You held on to your last ripples of dignity and managed to stay on your feet and not sprint into a jog.

You heart felt tight in your chest and a part of you wanted to turn back to and try to talk with Ravus. You forced your feet forward, clutching into the shoulder strap of your bag.

After the lunch spent thinking about Ravus, again, you had a hard time focusing on grading the essays before you. Again. You read through one, only to realize how you had no idea what it had been about, not to mention the grade it would earn. You huffed in irritation and slammed the pencil from your hand on the desk.

‘Urgh, I should just go home, I can’t do anything at the moment–‘

Your thoughts and teeth grinding were interrupted by a knock on the door. Your heart jumped and after a short moment of hesitation, you asked the visitor to come in.

To your relief, it was a woman wearing a curious outfit of green apron and a cap. She held a huge bouquet of flowers. They were a deep shade of lilac, each one growing in a cotton candy -figured cluster. The individual flowers were star shaped, a bit bigger than your thumbnail.

“Miss Y/N?” the woman asked with a bright smile.

“Yes?” you said carefully.

“You have a flower delivery.”

Dumbfound, you reached out to take the offered bouquet. ‘Hyacinths? Shouldn’t these things be sold as a bulb in a pot, not as huge-ass bouquet?’ You searched, but there was no card or a note attached.

“From who?” you asked, but were already beginning to guess the answer.

“It was an anonymous sender. Well then, have a nice day!”

You stared at the flowers. Part of you was wondering where you would find a suitable vase for them. ‘Anonymous…’

“Wait! What do they mean?” you yelped hastily after the courier. She peeked from behind the door that she had almost closed already.

“Hmm. Purple hyacinths… They mean an apology or ask for forgiveness. With that size of a bouquet, I hope you will.” With a grin, the courier disappeared again.

You slumped into your chair with the deepest frown your face had ever twisted into.

My car insurance company recently cancelled my policy due to unpaid direct debit. Here is what happened.
