So I wanted to elaborate on the Mat/Elayne Freyja/Odin parallel, so here’s that essay. For the sake of keeping this post semi coherent any off topic but vaguely relevant ramblings will be at the bottom of the post.
To start I was surprised to find out that while the obvious parallels between Mat/Odin and Perrin/Thor are often noted I haven’t seen anyone mention how Elayne is Freyja, so I’ll start by talking about those similarities. Freyja is a goddess of love and fertility as well as a goddess of death and war, and of course, of the magic practice of Seidhr which I covered in my precious Mat post. Freyja much like Elayne is a twin, having a twin brother(and masculine form) Freyr, the god of peace, fertility and prosperity. Freyr also has a horse cult, for some reason. Freyja of course is the second patron god of Seidhr sharing the role with Odin but she fulfills the more traditional and feminine aspects in a more socially conventional manner. Her husband, is often absent resulting in a particular myth of her crying ‘red-gold’ tears in his absence, her husband, Odr’s name actually means frenzied madness so shout out Rand. Freyja is also often depicted with having red-gold hair like everyone’s favorite Trakkand. She’s also associated with cats and she’s sometimes connected to the Phrygian goddess Cybele, who instead of a chariots drawn by cats has a chariot drawn by lions. Of course the Cybele/Freyja connection is debatable but I wanted to point it out for the lion connection.
Now onto the fun part, Freyja/Elayne and Mat/Odin, let’s talk about that dynamic. So if you didn’t notice Seidhr isn’t the only domain Freyja and Odin share, they’re both also gods of war and death, specifically they’re both gods of glorious death on the field of battle. Half of the slain are taken by Odin to Valahalla and the other half to Freyja’s realm Folkvangr. Now this might be a stretch but the sharing of the dead between Odin and Freyja reminds me of the sharing of The Band and the Dragons between Mat and Elayne in ToM and AMoL. Once again that’s a bit of a stretch but I wanted to point it out. Though I think the Band of The Red Hand is definitely a reference to Odin leading a procession of fallen warriors and the fact that Elayne gets shared custody is something I find very interesting in terms of this parallel.
Odin and Freyja are also both connected to the Valkyries for the above reasons. I think it’s safe to say that Brigitte is a Valkyrie, a spirit of a female warrior who comes to lead the dead to Valhalla and Folkvangr respectively. The fact that Brigitte bonded to both Mat and Elayne(through the horn and through the Warder bond respectively) is something I think proves this connection. Yada yada the Horn of Valere and the Heroes of the Horn are the Wild Hunt which in some stories is led by Odin with a Valkyrie at his side, Mat and Brigitte yada yada.
Also depending on who you ask Freyja is often conflated with Odin’s wife Frigg and Odin with Freyja’s husband Odr so uh- Matlayne
Now how do these connections inform Mat and Elayne’s dynamic. Well for one it explains why they are so heavily linked to eachother, from Mat’s vague connection to Manethran’s King Aemon and Elayne LITERALLY being the Rose of The Sun to Mat and Elayne sharing their weapons of mass destruction with eachother, the two spend a great deal of time with eachother and working together. Much like Odin and Freyja they compliment eachother and work together in their respective domains, whether that’s being a soldier and his Queen or two powerful people sharing battle earned death while accompanied by a woman warrior spirit and legendary procession of long dead heroes. They are complimentary halves and foils to eachother, they of course clash because they are forced to share space(share domains) but in the end they come to an understanding and make eachother stronger through their differences and similarities.
Okay okay tangent time, so I’m really insane about Mat/Elayne’s whole relationship and how Elayne is a thematic character foil to Tuon. Like Elayne is the Rose of the Sun and Tuon is the Daughter of the Nine Moons. The thematic relevance of Mat choosing to stay in Ebou Dar with Tuon vs. taking Elayne’s contract to become an Andoran general, choosing the Moon over the Sun. All I’m saying is that RJ robbed us of the potential Mat/Elayne/Tuon love triangle that would’ve shot and killed me. The Themes, The Character Foils, The DRAMA
Next tangent has nothing to do with Elayne really but was inspired by the previous tangent. So the Seanchen are represented by the night but they are also symbols of death right? Now one of Tuon’s names is Kore which is an epitaph of Persephone and with the death connection and the kidnapping that brings an obvious parallel to the myth of Hades and Persephone. But I’d argue that the story themes put Tuon in the role of Hades rather than Persephone while Mat takes Persephone’s role. I mean wed to Hades(Tuon) and brought into the underworld(Seanchen) only to become trapped there by eating a pomegranate(or accidentally starting a foreign marriage ceremony) able to return home to the land of the living(Andor) but only for short periods of time, all while becoming more than she once was as the Queen of the Underworld(Prince of Ravens). Anyways I have FEELINGS about Mat Cauthon.

Power to the king | MYG chapter 3.5
Tumblr media
I have been ambushed by my professor. He has wacked me with a surprise assignment so I can't finish the entire fourth chapter yet. But do not fret, here's a small piece of the story for you anyways. I call it chapter three point five. Chapter 4 will be with you in three to five business days.
cw: angst, Yoongi in need of an ass whooping, girls supporting girls, implied infidelity
wc: about two word pages idk
The morning after your game with Yoongi you awaken fresher than you have in months. You get up and brush your hair because you want to and not because you have to. You put more effort into how you dress, and when you walk down the hallways to breakfast your pace is quicker.
That day you went for a stroll with the princess. She had been just as delightful as the day you met her and afterwards, when you were walking the dark stone halls to your quarters, you felt cheery. You stop for a second to look out a small window, gazing upon the gardens of the castle that seem to extend far beyond the horizon. You hear the sound of a thick wooden door opening and closing. When you turn around, you’re met with the defeated faces of the druids you had seen at the festival. The look in their eyes is dark, and you realise they had come from the queen’s rooms. “Your highness”, they bow. You nod before asking: “What’s wrong?” The man, who you remember to be Seokjin, looks back at the door for a split second, and says: “The queen is getting sicker and sicker. Her body and mind are tired”.
News in the castle travels fast. By dinnertime that evening the whole castle was sensibly even more glum than normal. Everyone had heard from everyone that the queen had merely days, maybe weeks. The three royal siblings looked as if they had shrunk two sizes. None of them said a word, and the king, that disgusting, evil, devil of a man was happier than ever. He was talking on and on about things no one bothered to listen to. Inside, you are set ablaze. The kindest woman you ever knew is hanging on by a thread and this monster at the head of the table is celebrating.
That night Yoongi knocks at your door again. He looks slightly more calm than the night before, but that might be because he doesn’t have the energy to feel uncomfortable. That night you have to carry most of the conversation. Yoongi rarely says a word, but you don’t resent it. If your mother was close to death, you wouldn’t be chatty either. The dread you would feel would be different however, Yoongi loved his mother, and right now he was waiting to lose the only loving thing he’d ever known. You would be pouring over memories with your mother, wondering where it went wrong, and if your relation hip could have been mended if you had been given more time.
After another couple minutes of silent playing, you gathered your courage and asked: “How is the queen?” Yoongi sat frozen in his seat before leaning back in his chair. “She’s hanging on. People underestimate her; she underestimates herself, but I know she’s a strong woman”. You make eye contact for a moment, and you mean to see a glimpse of doubt in his eyes. “I ran into the druids when they had just been with her. They seemed defeated”. Yoongi stared rigidly out the window: “We don’t know how long she has, but it’s not much time”. Your husband is looking at his hands in his lap when you say: “She’s a great woman. She’ll walk onto the Folkvangr*, and be welcomed like a queen”. Yoongi looks at you, and for the first time you see your husband smile at you, albeit weakly and a bit watery.
The following weeks Yoongi comes by every night. He now seemed to leave his coat of nervousness at your door. The last couple of nights you had set up the game, but it had stayed there untouched. Instead of playing you spent the night talking. You never became warm or loving towards each other, but at least you weren’t fighting. If this was it; just decent conversation with no love or passion, you would take it. Many women were off way worse.
Yoongi was sitting on the side of his bed, still fully dressed. He had just returned from an evening with you after he had left abruptly. He had done so for good reason. You had asked about his deceased brother. Yoongi hadn’t understood what came over him but had answered. The entire story came flowing over his lips like the river his brother had died in. Something about the way you looked at him, the way you put a gentle hand on his shaking arm. He had realised something in that moment. You wanted something he could never give you, a loving husband. After that day the king had broken something in him, day by day. Relentlessly he had beaten it into his head that it was all his fault, that he didn’t deserve to be here, that it should have been him. As a response Yoongi had built up walls, brick by brick. Every insult was a new layer to his protective fort. He knew that he couldn’t open it for you. That you would spend the rest of your life alone. There would be two lives ruined by him. Still, when he was with you, he was more at ease than any other place. You had become a space for him to breathe, like a cool gust of wind on his hot, angry face. Those nights he spent with you he found himself trying everything to make you laugh, because when you did, you looked like an angel and the sound washed him of all the rage for just a moment. He was terrified he was falling in love with you. Terrified he would spend the rest of his life lusting after a woman who couldn’t help but resent him. This had to stop.
You on the other hand, were floating. A couple days after Yoongi told you about his brother, he had left for a trip to another major city of the kingdom. It was a Five-day journey to there, and he had been called there because of a murder trial that kept dragging on. You couldn’t wait for him to come back so you could spend more time with your husband. It finally felt like you were getting somewhere. He had been opening up and even joking around with you occasionally, maybe you could make a friend out of him after all. The fact that you tingled with excitement whenever he came to visit, and that your dreams were plagued by images of him holding you, could mean that you wanted more from him. that, however, was something to worry about later. Your mother had never given you much love, but she had bestowed you with many pieces of advice. She always said that the best lovers were found in great friendships.
There was one little issue that still stung though. The maid that you had seen your husband with had recently been assigned a new task. The task of dressing you in the morning. The maid who did it before was an old woman who had fallen sick, and you missed her gravely. However, you had made your peace with it. You would be civil to the new girl, and nothing more. You never once brought up the incident, and neither did she of course. She knew bringing up something like that could give you enough reason to send her neck straight to the chopping block. What she didn’t know was that you would never even think of doing such a thing.
On the morning after you said goodbye to your husband you were awoken by a different face. After a knock on the door, you had called for the maid to come in, but the woman walking in was not your husband’s possible mistress. A middle-aged woman with friendly smile wrinkles stepped in the room. “Good morning your highness”. You got up with a puzzled expression, but didn’t say anything of it yet, maybe the girl got ill. When you’re standing in front of the mirror with the older lady buttoning up your dress behind you, you can’t take the curiosity any longer. “You are not my usual maid”, you simply state. “No miss, Frida will not be here for the next month. My name is Gertrud”. You furrow your eyebrows: “Nice to meet you, Gertrud. Why will she not be here?” “She was asked to be part of your husband’s entourage on his trip”, she says ever so casually, while finishing up your dress. Your stomach drops. Your entire body stiffens, and you feel like an icy hand has just grabbed hold of your heart. “Is everything alright, your highness?”, Gertrud asks concerned. “Yes”, you say curtly: “you may go”.
How could he do this? Was it even fair for you to be angry, maybe he hadn’t arranged for this to happen. You were new to this royal life and had no idea who organised travels like these. He might have had nothing to do with it, but the way Gertrud phrased worried you. She said that Frida had been asked. Asked by whom? You needed answers. You decided to talk to the one person who wouldn’t doubt for a second to rat the crown prince out to you if you asked, the princess.

GWitch 21 thoughts
A bit of a transitional episode for the most part though it does escalate some things quite a bit. Always a fun ride on GWitch's coaster of madness and mechs!
Tumblr media
First on the docket, Asticassia's aftermath. They really treat you to the scope of its devastation and the students having to wait it out. Bit odd imo they make the students camp there but I guess their parents are likely scattered anyway considering the state of Benerit.
Tumblr media
Also was it just me or did y'all instinctively look for Loss in this image? Nicely organized camp at least.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Omg I might cry. Precious Suletta has decided to take it upon herself to care for the students. rescuing them in multiple ways I see. For me, it drives home the message that human connection and community are more important than destructive forces clashing. Empathy over games of war or corporate power struggles. It's also nice that Secilia* (edit: had a brain lapse lol) questions her reasons for altruism.
Because she can so she will 🥺
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We finally see how Mio is faring and it's not great! She's taken on the guilt of Prospera's induced bloodshed along with Shaddiq's. Guel tries to reassure her but Mio is firm. This is her fault. Ngl, Guel, you're partly to blame for the school. No offense. It hurts to see Mio take on other people's wrongdoing, but that's a martyr for you
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her talk with Shaddiq was interesting for a variety of reasons, but what stood out to me was their mutual resignation. They're both so tired. Shaddiq admitting he escalated because of Guel and Mio is insane tbh. She calls him an idiot, but it lacks her usual fire. I do like that he tries to protect Sabina and the gang; really speaks to the fact he's more complex than a mustache twirling villain.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
OMG Chuchu giving these two tomatoes instead of punches like before was amazing. The growth! The compassion! Ugh it was so good. As was the reveal that Suletta has been stockpiling the tomatoes. Mio might not know it, but she and by extension her mother aided these wounded kids. And Suletta musing on Mio fondly? Peak
Tumblr media
After surviving the hell room, I can't blame her for reassessing her life and priorities. Sad she lost her dream but it was tainted by Shaddiq so I understand her reasoning. She'll earn her way back fairly, though it might not be any time soon once she submits herself to the authorities.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wasn't surprised by this. Peil's horse in the presidency war lost, so might as well turncoat. They're opportunists at heart. The pure SALT though! It was the worst kind of news for everyone else at Benerit, including Mio. Forcible suppression are not words you want to hear
Tumblr media
It's awful of me but this screenshot made me laugh. Something about her slumped forward and mouth open, just dead to everything around her. I'm sorry Mio, I'm sad for you still. She's having a hell of a month.
Tumblr media
Sarius, surprisingly, is willing to take the fall and allow Grassley to bear the consequences. But Mio won't allow it. She can't accept anyone bearing 'her' sins. She's fully become the rose bride, enduring humanity's hatred willingly. There's also a bit of subtext here as she alludes to sacrificing Suletta. She won't do that again, no matter who it is.
Tumblr media
YO OKAY! Suletta while being questioned by Bel and Guston, drops her clone origins super casually. No spite or outward grief either. Just yeah, Mom won't care what I say because she only loves Eri. That's rough buddy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Surprise! The SAL confiscated a never before seen or mentioned Gundam from Vanadis. And it just so happens to be a monstrous one without a permet filter I'll admit, very confusing for me at first watch. I couldn't figure out why they sprung this without any foreshadowing, but after days I have an inkling.
Tumblr media
I'll be frank. I'm not sure why I like Belmeria. She's super pathetic. Just an absolute failure at life with the mental fortitude of toilet paper. But she's pitiable, clearly grieving, and guilty she did not perish at Folkvangr. Has done terrible things as 5lan would attest, but she's still weirdly likable. Like an aunt who everyone hates at family reunions but they're nice to you and make good cookies. Maybe it's just me
Tumblr media
Aaaand the suppression of Benerit was swiftly canceled. Lol. QZ can't be stopped now that Prospera has assumed direct control and destroyed every threat to her daughter's eternity.
Tumblr media
I did note QZ looks blatantly like a coffin, which considering the Utena parallel has interesting implications. Read this post here to see my musings. It's not a dire thing imo.
Tumblr media
Did a huge number on Mio's psyche unfortunately, which I think is the true tragedy. Red shirts got nothing on babygirl. Gotta double down on those swords piercing her with guilt and misplaced hatred. I'm marveling at what they're doing with the Utena intertextuality even as I bleed for Mio's state of mind. She's so fragile now
Tumblr media
Yay Chuchu and gang are coming along to fetch Calibarn! Wait, that might be bad. Oh well, Earth House has been crazy lucky so far. Hopefully it'll hold. I will actually lose it if any of them die.
Tumblr media
And we have 5lan suddenly deciding to go. I have some thoughts about why, which I've discussed in another post, but for now let's assume he's telling the truth and only wants to leave. He's an interesting character and bounces well off any cast member so it's cool with me. I enjoyed him going out of his way to apologize for harrassing Suletta.
Tumblr media
Lauda Lauda Lauda... don't you know anyone who threatens Mio gets Suletta slapped. It's happened three times now and two of them were fatal. He's just gonna get someone killed, and it won't be Mio. I know we see him staring at Schwarzette but I don't think he would need to or have the ability to pilot it. Mio isn't a pilot, so I suspect he'll attack her with more practical means. Could be wrong ofc! This show loves twists and curveballs.
I am eager to see what the rest of this cour has in store for us!

Summary:
A year has passed since the Snap. As you look to find a fresh start in life, you end up in the wrong place at the wrong time. A small cult dedicated to the newly revitalized Norse religion chooses you as a sacrifice with the belief that this will give Thor and the other gods the strength to undo what Thanos has done. What you don’t know is that human sacrifices come with a powerful magic — those who are sacrificed become linked with the god they have been given to. It’s been a millennia since a human was sacrificed to one of the gods. You’ve been bound to Loki.
CHAPTER 14
He came to you with a flash of golden light, appearing just outside your cell.
You looked up, eyes heavy. You were drifting to sleep, or were you already asleep and he’d woken you up?
He raised his leg and kicked the cell door. It broke off its hinges and fell to the floor with a loud clang. Its descent kicked up a small plume of dust.
With his return came the return of the tug, the bond, the feeling in your chest; your soul - that drew you to Loki. It was nearly gone a second ago, but now it was back and it was regaining its strength. Your soul had weight to it again. Not heavy, but its presence was felt, and it was a good feeling. It meant that you were still alive and it was a feeling that you had almost forgotten.
You were exhausted, dehydrated, sore but you felt your strength returning to you at a snail’s pace.
After the cell door collapsed you spoke, although your lips were chapped and throat dry. “I didn’t realize you were so strong.”
“I may not be my brother, but I am still a god.”
Loki helped you up, steadying you because you were wobbling.
“How they have mistreated you…” The god spoke, eyeing your state. He conjured a glass of water and put it in your hand. “Here, drink.”
You did, and the refreshing feeling of the cool liquid rejuvenated your throat. You smacked your lips together and drank the rest, savoring every drop.
“How are you so dehydrated? It’s warm, but you’ve only been here for a few hours.”
“Hours?” you asked.
“Yes,” he said, eyeing you with wariness.
“Loki, it’s been days. Probably a week”
“That… that can’t be.”
“Remember how your mother said time moves differently in the afterlife? We’ve been in space.”
“A week…” he said, trailing off.
He looked like he was going to say more, but shook his head. The green magic, the same green magic he had cast on you when you first arrived to Folkvangr, swirled around his hands and between his fingers. He reached his palm out to you and you felt your sores, your headache, your achy limbs, all heal.
“How does that feel?”
“A million times better.” And it did, although you still felt you weren’t at your best. But that would come back, in time. You still felt weak from the bond’s stretching and fading, but it was slowly still coming back.
“Now, we must get out of here. Can you use magic?” Loki asked.
You nodded.
“Good. Help me get everyone out of their cells.”
"Ok."
Loki waved a hand over the lock on Freya’s cell and cast a spell. The moment it broke, an alarm sounded. The two of you shared a panicked look and worked quickly, casting various spells to break the locks. The goddess and each Viking filed out, just as tired and weakened as you, but Loki used his magic to rejuvenate them the way he did you.
Freya shouted over the alarm, “They’ll be here any moment!”
“Where are your weapons?” Loki shouted back.
Freya pointed down the hall. “After locking us in here they marched off with our weapons down there.”
“Good. Fetch them quickly.”
And quick she was. Within minutes Freya and the Vikings restocked themselves with their weapons and shields. Freya’s greatsword was in hand, reflecting the brig of the ship from its polished steel.
Their return was just in time too because three fire giants entered the prison, angry and with their own weapons in hand.
“They’ve escaped!” said one, and all three charged in.
The Vikings raised their weapons and met the giants halfway. There were clangs as sword hit sword. It seemed an unfair fight, about two dozen Vikings against three giants from Muspelheim, but the giants were nearly twice the height and size of a man, with the strength of three or more.
As they fought, Loki shouted to you and Freya. “Come on!”
The three of you shimmied past the fighting, but on your way out two more giants were heading up the hallway to be reinforcements.
Loki conjured his daggers and dashed to one of the giants before it had a chance to react. Loki jabbed and moved like the wind around him. The other, a giantess, attempted to hit Loki with a hammer but Freya stepped in, blocking with her sword. The giantess growled and shifted her attention to the goddess.
As they fought, you conjured an arrow with your mind and directed it at the foe Freya was currently facing. The arrow flew through the air, piercing the giantess in the eye. She howled and, in her moment of vulnerability, Freya slayed her with her greatsword. Just as the two of you turned your attention to help Loki, he had downed the giant he was engaged with.
“Nice work,” he said.
“Yes, that arrow was immensely helpful,” Freya thanked you.
“We need to find the leader and kill him. Once we’ve done that, we can turn this ship around. Stick together.”
You and Freya nodded and followed him down the corridor. On the way to Jorun, the three of you encountered about ten more fire giants. You stayed in the back, using your magic to aid while Freya and Loki engaged in melee combat. Loki did use his magic as well, conjuring illusions or doubles to trick the giants into hitting the wrong Loki, which would disappear and the real Loki would stab his opponent while the giant realized his mistake.
Freya was a marvel as well. She wielded her sword with ferocity and grace. She was a more direct fighter than Loki, more reliant on sheer force than dexterity and avoidance, although she had quick feet just as the trickster god did. The gods landed more hits than the giants. You suspected if these were normal enemies they would be killed within a hit or two, but due to their thick skin and buff physique, they seemed able to take more hits than the average fighter.
After another half-dozen giants the three of you made it to the front of the ship. Although this ship was alien to you it was unmistakably a navigation center, with windows in front and consoles underneath with a number of different buttons.
Inside the room were the three giants you originally met on Valhalla; Jorun and his two henchmen.
“You’re killing my men.” Jorun said calmly, but angrily.
“Sorry about that,” Loki said. “They were in my way. And it appears you are as well."
"You will die where you stand." Jorun said. “Attack!”
The henchman to Jorun’s left moved first. He came charging at Loki, with a hammer raised and shouting in his native tongue. As the fiery-skinned creature approached, you pictured a sheet of ice on the floor on his path to Loki. Before the henchman could stop, he slipped on the ice you manifested with magic and came tumbling toward Loki, who ended his life with a swift stab to the chest.
To your surprise, the ice already began to melt into a puddle. You were then reminded of the intense heat of this place and you were shocked at just how much sweat your body had produced. As gross as it was, you were drenched as well as Freya. It must be the adrenaline of the fight that the heat hadn’t gotten to either of you yet. Loki, however, was sweating to a much lesser extent. It must be those Jotun genes keeping him cool.
Jorun shouted something in a language that sounded like the crackling of a fire. His voice sounded deeper than it did when he spoke English. Jorun’s other lackey replied and began to charge toward you. Loki stepped in to keep him away from you. He and the giant squared off, with Loki holding the giant’s fists and his ground to keep the giant from moving a step closer. Suddenly, the giant’s fists glowed like embers until they were literally on fire. Loki yelled from the pain, but after his initial reaction he gathered the focus to close his eyes. And in a moment, his own fists turned blue, causing the fire to sizzle out. The giant yelled in turn as his own skin was burned by Loki’s frost giant skin. However, despite Loki’s quick thinking, they were at a standstill again. Freya stepped in to help.
While this was happening, Jorun made his move. He bounded toward and grabbed you just as he did on Valhalla. And following what his henchman did, heat radiated from his hands. Your skin burned under his clutches.
“Stop!” you shouted as you heard the hissing of the giant’s hot skin on yours.
“Y/N!” Loki shouted, looking back at you. With a surge of adrenaline, he shoved the giant he was currently preoccupied with. It staggered backward. Freya jumped on the opportunity and sliced his throat. He fell to the ground just as his comrade did.
“All of your men are dead, Jorun,” Freya spat.
“Fine, but she dies now,” Jorun threatened with a sick grin on his face. Hot tears rolled down your face, mingling with the sweat as you suffered the agony of your skin cooking. You were burning, burning just like you had back on Earth. But this was a slow burn, one that crawled up your arm, inch by inch. It didn’t envelope you as quickly or as suddenly as the bonfire did.
“And you’ll watch,” Jorun continued. “Just like you did on Valhalla. You didn’t save her then, how could you now? One step closer and she’ll be cooked alive.”
Loki’s eyes shifted dramatically between Jorun and you as the gears turned in his head. It was hard to see his face through the tears and the pain. Your arm was burning, your heart was pounding, Freya was shouting something but you couldn’t hear it.
Then, a message inside your mind.
“You need to tap into the bond.”
“What?”
“You need to feel me,” Loki’s voice directed. He was inside your mind. “I have a plan, but you need to focus everything on the bond between us.”
You didn’t have the energy to respond. You felt weaker and weaker. There was no more pain in your arm – just numbness – however, the flames were crawling up. They had reached your shoulder and licked you just underneath your chin.
You spent what little you still had left trying to heed Loki’s words. Although the bond was weak, it had grown a little bit stronger in the time you were reunited again. You concentrated on that and the little glimmer of hope you had left. You didn’t know what Loki was planning but you put all your hope and love and fear into the binding magic, inviting Loki in.
“What are you doing?” Jorun shouted. You kept your eyes closed and focused, even though everything in you wanted to scream and claw your way out of Jorun’s embrace.
You need to feel me, Loki’s voice echoed.
And you did.
In an instant, your body temperature plummeted; you no longer felt sweltering heat but refreshing cold. You looked down at your arm, blinking a few times to make sure your eyes were seeing correctly. The skin of your arm was no longer a normal human skin tone. You were blue! The unburnt parts (how little there were) of your skin were a steel blue, your fingernails were frostbite black, and the angry red burns were now the color of the night sky.
The embers erupting from Jorun’s hand extinguished and he screamed. The skin of his arms were frostbitten. Out of instinct he released you of his grip to end the pain, throwing his hands up. In that moment, Loki grabbed your good arm and pulled you, almost throwing you behind him. Freya caught you as you stumbled. The moment Jorun had let go he realized his mistake, but it was too late.
“You’re a dead man!” Loki screamed.
You’d heard him angry before. This wasn’t angry Loki; he was livid.
Jorun made a fist with his frostbitten hand. He looked between you and the god. Your skin was already fading back to its normal skin tone because you were no longer tapping into the bond. Loki, however, was entirely blue and his eyes burned a hateful, ruby red.
In the nick of time, Jorun countered Loki’s dagger with his own.
“Fucking jotun,” Jorun spat. Saying the phrase for ice giant as if it was a four-letter word. “And not even a full-grown one. A runt.”
Loki didn’t take the bait. Instead, calculatingly, he tried to create an opening to stab. The god of lies was silent as the grave, with the reaper in his eyes.
“Nothing to say to that?” Jorun egged him on.
Loki did not.
Freya held you, asking if you were ok and if she could look at your arm. You let her, but your arm wasn’t your concern.
“We have to help him.”
“We?” Freya looked at you like you had two heads. “Darling, you look as if you’re about to pass out.”
But you couldn’t watch as Loki battled the fire giant on his own. They were evenly matched. If Jorun was shorter and thinner and pale instead of crimson, you could easily think there were two Lokis fighting one another. They had similar fighting styles with their daggers, except Jorun was more explosive. Loki was calm, but it was the calm before the storm. His eyes told everything; that he was angry, protective, and eager for blood. But he was holding it all together, holding it all for you.
With a quick flash of his dagger, Jorun pierced Loki’s upper arm. He gasped from the pain, touched the wounded area and pulled his hand away to find blood.
“So, the gods can bleed,” remarked Loki’s opponent with a grin. “Tell me, can you die twice?” He tried to slash again, but Loki dodged.
“Can he?” you asked Freya.
“When the dead are transported to Folkvangr or Valhalla, they arrive with the physical body they had before death. They can feel pain, it’s just that their souls are tethered to the realm. If they do leave, which they aren’t supposed to, their soul weakens much like yours does when you are separated from Loki. If he’s killed again, and with his spirit and body apart… I’m not sure what will happen to his soul.”
In this moment, you felt utterly helpless.
Just as Freya finished her explanation, Loki got in a few slashes on Jorun but then the fire giant delivered another painful blow to Loki, this time in his ribs. The god grunted and staggered backward, hunched with his hand over the new wound.
“Loki!” you screamed.
“Your wench is calling for you,” Jorun taunted. “Are you going to let her down?”
Loki breathed heavily and straightened his back, suppressing a wince. Blood dripped onto the floor of the ship.
Something had to be done. They were too close in skill and the fight could go either way. Your eye caught the silver of Freya’s blade at her side and you remembered what you did to the fire giant in the hallway earlier. You closed your eyes and concentrated on the greatsword, on lifting it through the air just as you did with the arrow. The magical energy surrounding you was faint and you felt nothing come from the sword.
Come on, Loki needs you.
You used your desperation and determination to save him as your focus to channel magic into the sword. There was a slight scrape of metal as the weapon unsheathed itself. You opened your eyes, looking on at the battle in front of you; the fire giant was too preoccupied with Loki to notice the sword suspended above ground.
“What are you doing?” Freya whispered.
You ignored her and imagined the great weapon like that arrow, soaring through the air. The magic responded, and your hair blew forward as the sword released. It skimmed past Loki and made an ugly wet sound, plunging the long blade into Jorun’s stomach. You weren’t sure if he was trying to talk, or if it was simply his response to the pain, but an ugly gurgling came from his mouth. Blood dripped from his abdomen as well as his lips.
“See you in Hel,” Loki spoke before using both his daggers to slice the giant’s head off. It rolled to the ground, his body slumping shortly after. Jorun’s blood looked like magma, and it coated the floor of the ship as it spilled out of the villain’s lifeless body.
You looked up at the mischief god. Loki breathed heavily, still grasping the daggers that just ended Jorun’s life, with blood dripping off the blades and adding to the puddle below.
"Loki…"
"Y/N," he said, snapping out of his rage-induced bloodlust. The two of you rushed toward each other. Tears welled in your eyes as Loki's body embraced you. It was all over now, and with his arms around you, you didn't let him go for fear you would lose him again.
"Thank you, Loki, for coming to rescue us," Freya said. She pulled her weapon out of Jorun’s stomach and magicked the gore off of it. Soot and exhaustion were all over her face.
The goddess began to browse around the helm of the ship. As she did so, Loki looked at your arm, cradling it gently in his hand. Green light encircled his fingers and he caressed the deep red injury on your skin. Many parts of your arm were still numb, but his healing at least soothed the parts that did still feel. The pain was still there, just more bearable now.
"With burns this serious, the remainder of the healing will have to be done with stronger spells and rest. Are you alright?"
"Thank you. Yes, I'm alright."
Loki spoke your name again. "I'm serious. Are you alright?"
"I am. I'm hurt, tired, thirsty, utterly exhausted, but I am OK. I was terrified, but now those giants are dead, and you're here…"
The tears were threatening to come back.
"Shh…" He whispered and rubbed your back as he pulled you back into his embrace. The two of you were dripping sweat and reeked of sulfur, but neither seemed to notice.
From the helm, Freya spoke up: "I've found something."
"Found what?" You and Loki said simultaneously.
"I am not fluent in the language of the fire giants, but I can pick out a few words on this carving here. The most important are these three: soul, resurrection, and Surtur."
"What do you infer from that?" Loki asked.
"The giants wanted to bring back Surtur and to do so, it seems they needed souls of the dead. For the king of Muspelheim, probably thousands."
"So we didn't just save the souls of Valhalla and Folkvangr, but those of the Nine Realms."
The goddess nodded.
There was silence in the helm of the fire giant ship for a moment as everyone pondered the gravity of what exactly just happened. Then, Loki spoke up.
"Is there anything on that panel that can tell you how to turn this ugly contraption around?”.
Freya began tinkering with the control panel. "I think I can figure it out."

Chapter 43
Talk to Hestia Familia about getting all of Freya properties.
I didn't look forward to telling Hestia and my friends about what happened with Freya, and that we were getting all of the Freya property and wealth. It's not that us getting all of those things is bad, it's just having to explain everything to them and trying to get them to understand. That is what will be the hard part.
I thought about how I was going to explain everything as Taima, and I walked from Folkvangr to Hearthstone Manor. The only way to do this was to come out and tell Hestia and my Familia the whole truth with no hemming or hawing. Or as close to the whole truth as possible. I really didn't want to lie to them.
We finally arrived back home at the Hearthstone Manor. Inside I found Mikoto, Bell and Hestia sitting in the living room talking. I walked over the Hestia. "Lady Hestia, we need to have a Familia meeting." I told Hestia with a serious look on my face.
Hestia looked at me and saw my expression. "What's the matter? What's wrong?" She asked me worried.
"I'd like to tell it to everyone at the same time. I don't want to tell the same story over and over again." I told Hestia. Then I turned to Bell and Mikoto. "Bell could you find Welf and have him meet us in the dining room." Then I turned to Mikoto. "And Mikoto, would you go find Haruhime and Lili and ask them to come to the dining room for a Familia meeting, please." I asked them.
I turned to Taima. "Would you go tell Wiene, Iris, Cindy and Kimmy to come to the dining room as well?" I asked her. "Sky and Fia should be with my Team so you can ask them if they will join us as well."
Taima nodded her head in agreement and left to get everyone.
After Mikoto and Bell left, I held out my hand to Hestia. Hestia took my hand and stood up. Still holding Hestia's hand I escorted her into the dining room and to her usual chair at the dining table.
"Why Wiene, Sky and Fia?" Hestia asked me.
"They are not official members of the Familia, but they are close friends, and they deserve to know what's going on as well." I replied.
"We still need to find out if I can give them a Falna." Hestia told me with a smile on her face.
"Thank you, lady Hestia. Maybe we can do that in the next day or two." I replied with a slight bow. "Or I can see if I can give them a Falna." I said shrugging my shoulders.
"This must be serious, Eilwyn. I've never seen you so serious and propper before." Hestia told me.
I smiled at Hestia. "Well, it depends on how you look at it. It can be very serious or it can be very funny." I told Hestia. "I'll get everyone something to drink." I told Hestia and headed into the kitchen.
Hestia stood up from her chair at the table. "Let me help you." She said as she followed me into the kitchen.
I pulled several glasses out of the cabinet while Hestia went to the magic stone refrigerator and pulled out two pitchers. One of tea and the other of juice. I found a tray and put the glasses and pitchers on it and carried it into the dining room. "Thank you, lady Hestia." I said as I sat the tray on the table.
Hestia smiled at me. "I like to help out when I can." Hestia told me.
I couldn't stop myself. Rather I didn't want to stop myself. "That's not what Hephaistos says." I replied with a grin.
"I've changed since then!" Hestia almost yelled.
"Hahahahaha! I got ch'ya!" I exclaimed. Then in my normal voice. "I know you've changed. That's one reason I wanted to join your Familia." I told Hestia and I walked over to her and gave her a hug.
Hestia returned the hug. "I'm so happy you and your friends decided to join my little Familia. Even though I still don't understand how you do all the things you can do." Hestia told me.
I chuckled and broke the hug and stepped back. "I don't understand how I can do all the things I can do, myself." I admitted. "I can just do them, and I've stopped trying to figure it out." I said.
Once everyone was seated and had a drink. "I've gathered you all together to tell you who the murderer is." I started. My Team was giggling because they knew the reference. But everyone else was staring at me like I was crazy. "Sorry, that's the typical ending chapter of a murder mystery story. There has been no murder." I told everyone as I looked around the table.
"Get to why you wanted to talk to all of use about." Hestia told me.
"Yes, sorry. As some of you know I can see part of the future and I acted on what I've seen. What was going to happen was Freya had an obsession with Bell and she wanted him for herself." I started.
"That conniving witch!" Hestia exclaimed slapping her hands on the tabletop.
"There's more to it, then just that. Freya was going to charm the whole city of Orario just so she could get Bell. Since she can't charm Bell, she would try to convince him, he had been cursed in an attempt to make him believe he is a member of the Freya Familia instead of the Hestia Familia. And that's just the beginning of what she was going to do." I continued.
"That's crazy!" Welf called. "That's horrible!" Mikoto said.
"Yes, it is. But since I know what would have happened. I went to Freya and thwarted her plans and while I was at it, I forced Freya to disband her Familia and I made sure she would never cause us any problems again. Because of that, I now own Folkvangr and I have all of her Familia's money, properties and possesions." I informed them.
"Wha-wha-what do you mean y-you own everything the Freya Familia owned!?" Hestia exclaimed. "What happened to lady Freya!?" Mikoto asked. "Freya's not interested in Bell anymore?" Welf asked. "Is that a lot?" Wiene asked. Sky and Fia looked slightly confused because they didn't know who Freya is.
I held up my hands to get everyone to stop asking questions at the same time. "Settle down!" I raised my voice.
I looked at Hestia. "If things had gone as I had seen. Freya would have charmed the whole city of Orario. But because Bell can't be charmed." I looked at everyone at the table. "That goes no farther than this room." I told everyone. "Freya would have tried to convence Bell that he had been put under a curse to try to make him believe he was really a member of the Freya Familia and not a member of the Hestia Familia. Freya is a sick and twisted person. But because Hestia is one of the few virgin goddesses she's not affected by Freya's charm as well. After a month or so Uranus would set a plan into action so Hestia could lift Freya's charm and free everyone. And that would push Freya to have a war game with the Hestia Familia, but Freya would allow Hestia to use anyone from any Familia to help her in the war game. And in the end the Hestia Familia would win the war game." I told my Familia.
"Wow! That's a lot to take in." Welf said. "Are you sure that would have really happened?" Mikoto asked.
Hestia started to say something, but I cut her off. They were all starting to ask questions at the same time again.
"One at a time, please." I told them and I looked at Mikoto.
Mikoto looked around the table and saw everyone looking at her. She blushed at receiving all the attention, but she asked her question anyway. "Are you sure of all that happening?" Mikoto asked me.
I nodded my head, yes. "Absolutely positive. Freya is the person that set all the monsters free during Monsterphilia and she sent the silverback after Hestia, just so she could watch Bell cry and run in fear. She didn't even care if the monster killed Hestia or Bell." I informed Mikoto and the others.
Hestia stood up abruptly and slammed the palms of her hand on the table again. "She's the one that set that monster after us!?" Hestia demanded.
I nodded my head in agreement. "Yes, she did. And Freya's the reason Bell had to fight the minotaur on the nineth floor. Again, Freya wanted to see Bell cry and scared. She also wanted to see if Bell could kill the minotaur and get over his fear of them, but it was all funny to her." I told Hestia. "And… Freya is the one that sent those adventurers after Ais and Bell when you were in the back streets after Bell's training session with Ais. The five people that went after Ais and the four that went after Bell, if you remember."
"Freya did that too!?" Hestia exclaimed. "I'll kill her!"
"Lady Freya sent those people after us? Why?" Bell asked.
"Do you remember feeling like you were being watched after the fight?" I asked Bell.
Bell nodded his head, yes. "I remember that. I've felt like I'm being watched several times."
"That was Freya watching you. She can see people's auras and she uses a 'Magic Mirror' so she has been watching you almost since you joined Hestia's Familia. And that fight was kind of a test to see how well you can fight. Although there is one good thing that has come from her watching you so much. It's that you can now feel when people are looking at you. Like when you were fighting Mord on the 18th floor. He was wearing a magic item that allowed him to turn invisible. Yet you were able to feel his eyes on you and know where he was so you could counter his attacks." I explained.
Bell sat staring at me with wide eyes. "That's why I could do that?"
"Yes, it is." I told Bell. Then I looked at Wiene. "Yes Wiene, that is a huge amount of money and valuables." I was finally able to answer her question.
"What has happened to Lady Freya?" Haruhime asked me.
I nodded my head at Haruhime's question. "If everyone doesn't mind, that is one question I'm not going to totally answer. I'll answer it in part but not fully. Freya is human now. She will die of old age and when she dies, she will not go back to the upper world. I offered her a couple options and that is the option she took, to be human. Freya already played at being a human before this, so I permanently made her the human she had pretended to be." I told them.
"Wait, wait, wait… What do you mean, YOU made her permanently human!?" Bell inquired.
I chuckled. "You know I can do a lot of things, correct?" I asked and looked around the table. Everyone nodded their heads, yes. "One of the things I can do is nullify people's or 'god's' abilities, powers and even their immortality." I told them. "So, I nullified Freya's immortality and all of her abilities and powers. Then I changed her into the physical form of the person she was pretending to be, 'and' I altered her mind to make her believe she has always been that person so she will never believe she is Freya again." I continued. "And before you ask, I have NEVER altered the minds of anyone in the Hestia Familia. And I promise I will never alter the minds of anyone here at this table unless their lives depend on it."
Welf, Mikoto and Hestia were looking at me with awe and some fear on their faces. Bell looked confused and Haruhime looked surprised. While Wiene, Fia and Sky just looked at me.
Hestia stood up and looked into my eyes. "As your goddess, you swear to me that you will never use any of those things on your Familia or your goddess!" She said almost a demand.
"I already did that, but I'll do it again if it will make you believe me." I raised my hand as if I was giving an oath. "I Eilwen Tengee swear to my patron and my fellow Familia members that I will never use any mind control on my Patron or my Fellow Familia members unless their lives depend on it." I told them and put my hand down.
"Okay, I will accept that." Hestia said and sat down. "Our children can't lie in the presence of a god." She added. I'm not sure if she was trying to reassure the others or trying to reassure herself. "Please continue what you were telling us."
Although the truth is, I can lie in front of these 'gods'. Their power or ability to make their 'children' tell the truth around them does not affect me. I wasn't going to tell Hestia or any of the other 'gods' that. But what I had told them about not using mind control on them is true.
"To continue… We now have to go through Freya's apartment in Babel Tower and move all of the things from there to here. Then we have to hire guards for Folkvangr the Freya Familia's home so no one will break in and steal anything while we go through all of the things there and move what we want to keep to the Hearthstone Manor or preferably to a warehouse. I figured we could donate some of the things to the orphanage and what we don't want we can either sell to a secondhand shop or open our own secondhand shop to sell those things ourselves." I suggested.
"That's going to take a lot of work. It'll take away from the time we can spend in the dungeon." Mikoto said.
"She's right. That's going to take a lot of work." Welf agreed.
I nodded my head in agreement. "That's true, but… we can make it easier by going through everything to see what we want to keep and what we want to donate. Figuring everything else is going to be sold. We can mark what's going to be kept with one color, what is going to be donated with another color and what is to be sold does not get marked. Then we can hire someone to move everything for us. That will save us time and trouble. And before I forget about it." I reached out my hand and four books appeared in my hand. "Freya had four grimoire that we now own. These should be locked up or I can keep them in my closet PD for safe keeping." I added.
"Four grimoire!?" Hestia exclaimed.
"Those could come in handy." Welf said.
I nodded my head in agreement. "Yes, they can, or we can sell them. As you know I can give any or all of your abilities to help you out in the dungeon, and the abilities I give you don't use 'mind' so you don't have to worry about going mind down when you use them to much." I reminded them.
"That's true, that's true." Welf agrees. "We could sell them for at least 200 million to 400 million valis each, I'm sure. We could do a lot with that kind of money." He added.
I nodded my head in agreement. "Probably more." I added and continued my thoughts. "We can hire the Take' Familia along with Daphnie and Cassandra of the Miach Familia to guard Folkvangr. For the moment Ottar is guarding it. But he'll leave it up to us in two days." I suggested. "And we need to go through Freya's apartment in Babel Tower as well. There's not a lot of things in her apartment, but what there is, is worth a lot of valis."
"And speaking of Freya's apartment. How would y'all like to go see it, and while we're there, we can check out the furnishings." I suggested. Then I turned to Hestia. "And there's a library there as well." I told her.
"We already have a good-sized library. Although we can always use more books." Hestia said with a big smile on her face.
I chuckled. "We can go through all the books and keep what we want and give away or sell the rest." I offered.
"That's a good idea." Mikoto said. "Do all of us get to go to Babel tower?" She asked.
"I don't see why not. It'll be about the only time any of us will be able to see what it's like in one of those apartments and what it's like looking out over the city from up that high." I replied. "But if we're going, we need to leave right away." I added.
"Everyone that wants to go to Freya's apartment get ready and be in the living room in ten minutes." Hestia told everyone. She then looked at me. "Will we need a cart or something to haul the furniture and books back here in?" Hestia asked me.
I shook my head in the negative. "No, we won't. Remember the pocket plain we lived in until we moved in here?" I asked.
Hestia nodded her head, yes. "Yah, I do." She answered.
"We can put everything into the pocked plain. Then when we get back home, I can open the pocket plain and we can move everything to the manor." I told Hestia.
Hestia's eyes got big and bright, and a big smile spread across her face. "Yah, that will make it a lot easier. Won't it." Hestia stated.
I nodded my head, yes and grinned at Hestia.
Ten minutes later everyone in the Hestia Familia was walking along Southwest Main Street towards Babel Tower. We were a fairly large group with Hestia, Bell, Welf, Mikoto, Cindy, Iris, Kimmy, Lili, Rosni, Wiene in her demi-human form, Sky and Fia in their demi-human forms, me 'and' all of our Companions. Wiene was holding one of my hands and Sky was holding my other hand, as we walked.
"This is going to cost us a lot of valis. Will we be able to afford it?" Welf asked as we walked.
I chuckled. "Yah, that. I forgot to tell you something. First Freya gave me all of her Familia's money, so our Familia is rich as of today. Second, I went to Folkvangr and 'punished' some of the Freya Familia members. Part of that punishment includes them paying us damages. The total we will receive is between 10 million and 15 million valis every month for the next couple of years." I told Welf and the others.
Everyone stopped and stared at me with shock and surprise on their faces. "Ten to fifteen million valis a MONTH!?" Welf exclaimed.
I nodded my head in agreement. "And that does not include what the Freya Familia has in cash on hand and in the 'bank'." I told them.
Hestia jumped up and down in excitement. "We're RICH!" She yelled.
"Please keep it down lady Hestia. We don't want everyone in the city knowing we have all that money." I told her.
"Sorry, I'm just so excited. I can quit my job at the potato popper stand, now." She said.
I nodded my head in understanding and agreement. "You sure can." I agreed.
Horn had told me what to do to get to Freya's apartment. If she hadn't, I would have had to port everyone to the apartment. Although it would have been a lot quicker if I had ported everyone instead of using the magic stone elevators.
Not surprising, once we entered the apartment everyone spent several minutes looking out the large window that overlooks the city. I tried to find and point out the old church we had lived in before the war game. Lili found Hearthstone Manor. Bell found the Benevolent Mistress. Bell was also able to find the Blue Pharmacy.
I was standing behind Wiene with my arms around her holding Wiene, as we looked out over the city.
"It's pretty." Wiene said with wonder in her voice.
I hugged Wiene to me. "Yes, it is, but wait until you see the countryside. There's miles and miles of open land. It will take your breath away." I told Wiene.
"Is it better than the PD?" Wiene asked.
"The PD is a special place. It's really nice but it's not real. The countryside outside of Orario is the real deal." I told Wiene, although I had to bite my tongue, because Orario and all the land around it wasn't real. Well, it wasn't real until I had opened a portal to come here.
===================
As we look out over the city. "It's almost like flying." Sky said in awe of how high up we are.
"Why don't you." I said.
"Why don't I what?" Sky asked me.
I chuckled. "Why don't you fly."
I can't, not here" Sky protested.
"Yes, you can. You can shift to your natural form and fly. Only we can see you up here, and we all know you're a siren." I told Sky. "Plus because of Junah you can fly by extending your bird wings or you can just fly. With Junah's flying ability you can fly without wings." I inform her "It won't be quite the same, but you can fly around the room, and It'll be almost like you're flying out there over the city."
"Really?" Sky and Fia said almost in unison.
I kissed Wiene on the top of her head. "Do you want to help me show them how to fly, Wiene?" I asked her.
"What can I do?" Wiene replied.
I tightened my arms around Wiene. "Just hold on tight." I told her. I also used telekinesis to help hold Wiene up so she would not sag down as we fly into the air.
Wiene grabbed my arms with her hands.
The next thing anyone knew, Wiene and I were flying up into the air. "Look Ma, no wings." I said and laughed. "Ha-ha-ha-ha."
"I'm flying! Look, I'm flying!" Wiene exclaimed.
Linna flew up beside us. "I told you that you can fly." She told Wiene.
Wiene blushed. "I remember you telling me. But I never had a reason to fly before." Wiene told Linna.
"That's true. Now you can fly in the PD when you want to." Linna suggested to Wiene.
Wiene giggled. "I'll have to do that, now."
"Fia, Sky, why don't you join us." I invited Sky and Fia.
Sky and Fia looked at each other and grinned.
The next think I know both Fia and Sky are flying beside me. Both of them have ear to ear grins on their faces.
"You're right. It's almost like being outside with this huge window here." Fia admitted.
"Can we fly in the PD too?" Sky asked me.
"That's part of the reason we're using it. So, the Xenos and anyone else can fly and be in their natural form." I told Sky.
I created a digital camera and took several pictures of the city. Later I'll print them out. We can sell them in the hearth and home shop, once it is up and running.
Wiene and I landed back on the floor of the apartment. "Okay we need to get to work." I shooed everyone away from the window.
"Come on down girls." I called to Sky and Fia.
They both looked disappointed, but they did as I asked and landed.
I created several wooden crates and put them by the bookcases. "Start putting the books into the boxes." I said.
"Wow! That's a lot of books. Will we have enough room at the manor to put them?" Welf asked looking at the bookcases.
I chuckled. "As I said, we can give some to the orphanage and we can sell what we don't want. Plus, we can always put shelves up in another room and make a second library."
Welf, Bell and I moved what little furnishings Freya had into the PD.
Freya had a huge bed. It's about half as big as the bed in the Master bedroom on Pern. Cindy had been casting glances at it while she packed up the books. "We could use that in our bedroom." Cindy said pointing to Freya's bed.
I started laughing. "You would Cindy, you would."
Cindy looked over at me, grinned, did a little curtsy and winked at me. Then she went back to putting books into the crates.
The rest of the evening we finished boxing up the books and putting them into one of my Pocket Dimensions (PD). As well as moving the furniture into the PD.
On the way home to the Hearthstone Manor we took a detour and stopped by the Miach Familia's business and home to see if we could hire Cassandra and Daphne to help guard Folkvangr. Although here they call it, a quest.
Even though Hestia and all the other members of the Hestia Familia were with me. Hestia allowed me to do all the negotiations for the quest. I will make the offer of 10,000 valis per person per day, with a bonus that they can go through everything from Folkvangr that we will be selling and take what they want equaling 100,000 valis in value. I also thought of adding a Companion for each of them as a bonus as well.
When we arrived at the Blue Pharmacy, we all entered. I asked Nahza if Miach was free so I could talk to him about something important.
"Freya gave you Folkvangr?" Miach asked me.
I chuckled and nodded my head, yes. "Yes, she did. She gave me Folkvangr along with all of her Familia's money, properties and belongings." I told Miach.
"Why would she give you all of that?" Miach asked, confused.
"She gave it to me and the Hestia Familia for damages she has caused us." I told Miach.
Miach looked confused. "What damages?"
"Freya sent the Silverback after Hestia so Bell would have to fight it. She wanted to see Bell cry and to see him scared. Later Freya sent the minotaur after bell on the nineth floor, again to see him cry and to see him scared. She didn't care if he was killed or not, she just thought it was funny seeing him suffer. And that is just the tip of the iceberg of what she was doing behind the scenes." I told Miach.
I heard Hestia huff behind me. She is still angry about what Freya had done, and I don't blame her one bit.
Miach shook his head in confusion. "I still don't understand why lady Freya would give you Folkvangr and all of her Familia's money."
I shrugged my shoulders. "You don't have to understand why she did it. You just have to believe she did. Besides Freya's assistant, Horn was there as well. So, she can verify that Freya gave everything to me and the Hestia Familia right after she disbanded her Familia." I informed Miach. "And that's why I need Daphne and Casandra to guard Folkvangr for a few days or until we can get everything sorted out." I said. "I'm going to ask Take' if Ouka, Chigusa and Asuka will work to guard it as well."
Miach nodded his head in understanding. "Well, I would say Daphne and Cassandra will take the quest, but I will leave it up to them to say yes or no." Miach told me.
"That's understandable. Are they available so I can ask then?" I asked.
Miach looked out the window for a moment. "They should be arriving shortly. This is about the time they come in and report how they did in the dungeon." He told me.
"I'll wait for them, if you don't mind." I said.
"I don't mind at all. It is a pleasure to have all of you here." Miach replied.
"Since I am going to offer Takemikazuchi's Familia the same quest. I would like to invite them here, so I don't have to go through all this, two times." I told Miach.
"I understand. Takemikazuchi's children are always welcome here." Miach told me.
I turned to Cindy and Iris. "Cindy, would you and Iris go to the Take' Familia's house and ask them if they would join us here, please." I asked them.
"We'll go ask them. We'll be back shortly." Cindy replied. Cindy and Iris stood up and left the Blue Pharmacy.
I turned back to Miach. "No matter what Daphne and Cassandra choose to do. I would like you to have this. I'm sure it will help you and your Familia out." I said and pulled out one of the grimoire and hand it to Miach.
Miach took the book and looked at it. After a moment or two he looked at me with total confusion and surprise on his face. "Is this what I think it is?"
I just nodded my head, yes.
With eyes bugging out. "W-why w-would you give s-something like this to me?" He asked me in shock.
Hestia giggled at Miach's reaction to being given the grimoire. I turned and gave her a dirty look, which didn't help any because Hestia just giggled more.
I chuckled. "It's one of the grimoires I got from Freya. I'm not losing any money giving it to you. And you can sell it for somewhere between two hundred million Valis to four hundred million valis. That will pay off your loan for Nahza's arm and you'll have plenty left over for things your Familia needs and wants. You could even buy a shop closer to one of the Main streets." I told him.
"Or, we can go in together and buy a fairly large building close to one of the main streets. We are going to sell all the excess inventory from Folkvangr so we will need a shop to sell out of. Plus, I believe Welf is going to make weapons and armor and I was thinking of selling furnishings for the fireplace and home since Hestia is a 'goddess' of the hearth and home. If we went in together, we can get a bigger building that will cost each of us less, and it will give you a bigger place to live as well." I added.
Miach couldn't seem to take his eyes off the grimoire. "Thank you, Eilwyn. I'm in your debt. I don't know how to repay you." He told me.
I laughed. "You don't have to repay me. It is a gift from the Hestia Familia to the Miach Familia." I told Miach.
Miach finally took his eyes off the grimoire, and he looked first at me then to Hestia. "Is Eilwyn serious? He is giving the grimoire to me expecting nothing in return?" He asked still in shock.
Hestia giggled again. Her twin ponytails were swinging back and forth with her excitement. "It's true Miach, Eilwyn wants to help you out. The grimoire was given to him so it's his to do with as he wishes. Although he was given three more grimoires from Freya. So, we're not losing anything by giving you one to help you out." Hestia tried to reassure Miach.
Miach stood up and bowed so far over it almost looked like his nose was going to touch the floor. "Thank you again Eilwyn. I can never thank you enough for such a gift." He humbly told me.
"Please sit down Miach. You're embarrassing me." I told Miach.
Miach sat down although he still had a look of surprise and awe on his face. "This is more than enough payment for Daphne and Cassandra to guard Folkvangr for you." He stated.
I shook my head in frustration. "You don't understand Miach. They will be paid for their work. The grimoire is a 'gift' to both a personal friend and a friend of my Familia." I told him.
Daphne and Cassandra walked into the shop at that time. "Hello goddess Hestia, hello everyone." Daphne said.
"Hi." Cassandra said shyly and gave a smile and a wave to everyone.
"Eilwyn and the Hestia Familia has a quest for you if you want to take it." Miach told Daphne and Cassandra. "Although he wants to offer the same quest to Takemikazuchi's children. So, we should wait until they arrive."
"The quest isn't for you or Takemikazuchi's Familia. We need all of you, so the quest is for both Familia's. That is why I want to wait until they arrive, so I don't have to tell you then go through the whole thing again for them." I explained.
"Ok, we'll wait for them to arrive." Daphne said.
We made small talk for a little while as we waited for Take' and his Familia to arrive. And for Cindy and Iris to return.
Fifteen minutes passed when they all walked into the Blue Pharmacy.
"Cindy and Iris said Eilwyn wanted to talk to me and my children about a quest." Take' said as he took a seat.
I nodded my head in agreement. "True, I want to offer a quest to Ouka, Chigusa and Asuka as well as offer Daphne and Cassandra the same quest." I told Take'.
Daphne looked at me. "What is the quest?" She asked.
"We need all of you to help guard Folkvangr for the next week or two. We'll pay you 20,000 valis a day, plus you get to pick through what we are going to sell and take what you want of items worth up to 100,000 valis per person." I told her and Cassandra.
Daphne looked skeptical. "We can make a lot more than that in the Dungeon." She told me.
I nodded my head in agreement. "Yes, you can, but this quest has little to no danger involved to it. Plus, you can pick out up to 100,000 valis worth of items we will be selling. And if you take the quest, I will throw in a bonus of a Companion for each of you." I offered.
Daphne's expression softened. "100,000 valis worth of items from Folkvangr doesn't sound too bad. Although why do you need us to guard Folkvangr. That place belongs to the Freya Familia." She said.
"That is what everyone will receive?" Ouka asked.
I nodded my head, yes. "Each person that accepts the quest will receive the same amount." I told him.
I turned to Daphne and grinned. "Freya disbanded her Familia and she gave everything to me and the Hestia Familia. I'm not going to go through why that happened. Miach knows enough, so he can tell y'all about that later." I told her.
"What is a Companion?" Cassandra plucked up enough courage to ask as she half hid behind Daphne.
"Have you seen the animals my Team and Bell's battle party have?" I asked Cassandra.
Cassandra nodded her head yes but didn't say anything.
"Mikoto has a Companion, doesn't she?" Ouka asked.
"Yes, she does." I replied.
"I've seen those animals. I've wondered about them." Daphne said.
"Those 'animals' are Companions, and they are a lot more than just animals. For instance, any ability they have, you also receive. That means if they are extra strong, that extra strength is applied to you as well. So, if your Companion has level one strength, they are three times stronger than a normal animal of their size and kind. Thus, you become three times stronger than normal. That translates to, if your strength is rank I-0 your strength will go up to about rank D-600 to D-650. If they have level two in strength, they are three times stronger than level one. Again, that means if you have I-0 in strength you will go up to around A-950 to S-1001. Possibly higher." I explained.
Cassandra and Daphne's eyes were bugging out. "That's crazy. Animals can't make your status go up." Daphne stated.
I chuckled. "They are 'not' animals, they are Companions." I replied. "[Taima, would you please come here. Small cat form, please.]" I said to those in the room, and I sent to Taima. All of our Companions were outside because the shop is too small for all of the Companions even if they were all in their small animal form. Plus, I didn't think Miach would appreciate it if we had walked in with several animals with us.
Taima ported into the room to my side. She is in her small Snow Leopard form. "This is my Companion. Her name is Taima. Taima say hello to everyone." I said.
Taima looked at Miach, Cassandra, Daphne, Take', Ouka, Chigusa and Asuka. "Hello, it is nice to meet you." She told them. Although Taima had already met Miach.
"Hello Taima." Miach said.
Daphne and Cassandra were having a difficult time figuring out if they wanted to stare at Taima or Miach.
Take', Ouka, Chigusa and Asuka had seen and been around Mikoto and Jioni, so they had an idea of what a Companion is and what they can do. So, they weren't surprised at Taima porting into the room and talking.
Daphne points her finger at Taima as she looks at me. Her eyes are bugging out and her mouth is opening and closing as if she wants to say something, yet no words are coming out.
I chuckled and even Miach has a grin on his face. "I told you; Companions are not just animals." I said. "Your Companions will stay with you almost all the time. Depending on their intelligence level, they can be as smart as a 24-year-old human." I told them then explained the benefits of having a Companion.
"And if you take the quest and since I trust all of you, I'll give you, your Companions before you start guarding Folkvangr. That way you'll have company while you're guarding the place." I informed them.
Cassandra turned to me. "I dreamed about our home being full of animals, but I couldn't figure out where they came from or why they were there." She told me shyly.
"Now you know why." I told Cassandra with a smile.
I turned to Nahza. "You are included in the offer. If you want to take a few days off of working in the shop. You can help guard Folkvangr, get 20,000 valis a day, 100,000 worth of items from Folkvangr and a Companion. And that is 100,000 valis worth of items per person." I told Nahza.
Before Nahza could say anything, I used Restore Mind on her to remove her trauma of being attacked by monsters that ate off her arms and legs. By doing that I removed her fear of monsters and the Dungeon.
Nahza blinked her eyes several times right after I had used Restore Mind on her. "Lord Miach will need me to help out at the pharmacy. So, I won't be able to help guard Folkvangr." She told me.
Miach looked at Nahza. "I am sure I can made do without you for a few days if you would like to help Eilwyn and the Hestia Familia." Miach assured Nahza.
"But who will make the double potions?" She asked.
Before Miach could reply. "Do you have an empty potion rack and a sample or vile of each type of potions you sell that I could see?" I asked Nahza.
"Why would y…" Nahza started but Miach cut her off.
"Yes, we do. Nahza if you would be so kind as to get what Eilwyn requested." Miach told Nahza.
Nahza gave Miach a dirty look as she stood up and walked behind the counter. A short time later she returned with what I had asked for and handed the items to me.
"Why haven't you or any of your battle party been in to buy potions? Are you going to…?" Nahza started.
I stopped her before she could finish her question or accusation. "If we needed healing potions, we would definitely buy them from you, but we don't need any healing potions. So, we don't need to buy any." I told Nahza as I was taking the stoppers out of each vile. I would turn a vile upside down then turn it right side up again, then take the stopper out of a vile and touch the stopper with a small amount of potion to a finger. I did this with each different kind of potion vile.
As Nahza and Miach watched me open each vile and touch the stopper, Nahza continued. "Everyone needs healing potions. There's no way you can go into the dungeon without needing a healing potion or a Mind Restore potion, at some time if they use any magic."
Take' leaned forward. "Would it be okay with you if we went outside and talked about your offer, Eilwyn?" He asked me.
I nodded my head, yes. "That would be fine with me." I told Take'.
Take', Ouka, Chigusa and Asuka stood up and walked out of the Blue Pharmacy.
I turned back to Nahza and chuckled. "We've all been down to the 20th floor. And we've never used or needed any healing potions." I reiterated. "Unfortunately for you and anyone else that sells healing potion, we all have Regeneration." I told Nahza.
Nahza looked puzzled and confused. "Re-regener-ation? What is that?" She asked.
"Self-healing. If we get hurt, we heal without the need for potions." I explained. "I can regrow a lost arm or leg in minutes."
Nahza unconsciously started rubbing her right arm with her left hand. Nahza's right arm in an artificial arm.
"Regrow an arm in minutes." Nahza whispered to herself.
As I was telling Nahza about our regeneration ability, I created copies of the healing potions Nahza had handed me. I made enough of each potion to fill all of the slots in the case on my lap. When I was finished, I handed the full case back to Nahza. "Is that enough potions for you to take two or three days off of work? Or do you need twice that many potions?" I asked her.
Nahza stared at the case full of potions. She looked over at Miach with a questioning look on her face. Then she turned back to me. "Are these real?" Nahza asked me.
"Check them out for yourself." I suggested.
Nahza pulled out one of the vials and opened it. She raises the vile up to her nose and took a sniff. Then she took a small sip of the healing potion. Nahza's eyes lit up. "I-it's real!" She cried out. Nahza stared at me. "H-how are you able to make potions out of nothing!?" She almost demanded of me.
I chuckled. "Anything I touch I can make copies of. Anything non-living that is." I told Nahza. And to prove what I had claimed I could do. I reached over and touched a bowl that is sitting on a self. I turned back to Nahza, Miach and the others. I bent over to the floor and started making copies of the bowl until there were ten copies of the bowl on the floor.
"I can make as many copies I want of any item I touch, and they will be permanent, unless 'I' deiced to dissolve them and then they will disappear." I explained. "And each copy will be as good as the original." I explained.
A light lit up in Nahza's eyes. "Could you make double that amount? We usually sell more than this." She said lifting up the case indicating how many they sell.
"Get another case and I'll fill it. Although I would appreciate it if the Hestia Familia received ten percent of what you sell of them. That's a small amount for all the profits you'll make from selling those potions." I told Nahza.
Nahza opened her mouth to say something, but Miach spoke up before Nahza could say anything. "That sounds quite acceptable, considering it didn't cost us anything to make them."
I nodded my head in agreement. Then I looked at Nahza. "Does that mean you'll take up the quest?" I asked her.
Nahza looked at Miach, who nodded his head, yes. She turned back to me and nodded her head, yes as well. "Yes, I'll take the quest."
I grinned at Nahza. "Would you open the door, please?" I asked her.
Nahza looked confused. "Open, the door?"
I nodded my head in agreement. "You need to get another potion case so I can put more potions in it. So, while you are up, I need you to open the door." I told Nahza.
"O-okay." Nahza said as she stood up, went to the door and opened it up.
When the door to the Blue Pharmacy was open, a small winged Manticore walked through the open door and looked up at Nahza.
"Nahza I would like to introduce you to Jemin. Jemin this is Nahza." I introduce them to each other.

"And Nahza get used to having Jemin in your head most of the time. Companions and their partners can talk to each other mind to mind." I informed her.
I looked at Cassandra and Daphne. "What about the two of you?" I asked.
Cassandra nodded her head, yes. "I'll take the quest." She said softly.
I turned to Daphne. "And you?"
"I'll do it. It's easy money." Daphne said.
Since Nahza had not closed the door yet. Two more winged manticore walked through the door, one walked over to Cassandra and the other walked over to Daphne.

Take' and his 'children' walked back into the Blue Pharmacy. "We'll take the quest." Ouka told me as he walked through the door.
"Thank you. And as I told Cassandra, Daphny and Nahza. The 100,000 valis in items is per person, so you each get to pick out 100,00 worth of items after we figure out what we want to keep. And now if you would open the door again for a few moments." I told them.
Chigusa turned and opened up the door again. Three Far Eastern Dragons walked through the open door. Each walked up to their new partner.

"Your Companions can talk to you either out loud like we talk to each other or telepathically that is mind to mind. So, get used to hearing them in your heads most of the time. And as I told the others, your Companion can tell you everything they can do, which means you can do those same things. But if you have any questions feel free to ask me or my Team and we'll gladly answer your questions when we can." I repeated my offered.
I looked over at Miach. "I believe you'll need to get the other case for the potions. I believe Nahza is a little preoccupied right now. Heeh heeh heeh." I told Miach and chuckled.
Miach stood up and found another case for healing potions. He walked back over and handed it to me. I filled up the case with the different healing potions that I created. Then I handed the filled case back to Miach.
"We will meet Daphne and Cassandra at Folkvangr in the morning. They can take first watch. Chigusa and Nahza can take second watch and Ouka and Asuka third watch. If you show up early or stay late, you can go through Folkvangr and take a look around if you want to." I told them. "That will also give you time to get to know your Companions and to learn what they can do. And you can check out what is there that you might want for your 100,000 valis bonus. Until morning."
I turned to Takemikazuchi. "I want to donate 2.5 percent of what I make in the dungeon to help the children at your shrine in the far east." I told him.
Take' looked shocked. "You do not need to do that. It is not part of your Familia." He told me.
I smiled at Take'. "I know they are not part of my Familia. But helping children is more important no matter what Familia they belong to or even if they don't belong to a Familia." I said.
"I'll put in 2.5 percent of my earnings as well." Cindy put in.
That was followed by Iris and Kimmy. "I'll put that in as well." "Me too."
Take' was shaking his head. "It is not for you to do this. They are not of your Familia."
"Takemikazuchi!" I started with some heat. "I do NOT care if they are from a different Familia. I give my Familia part of my earnings. After that what I have left is up to me to do with as I see fit. And helping orphans is part of helping others. And before you say anything, we are already going to help an orphanage here in Orario. We are giving them things they need from Folkvangr plus we are giving them a percentage of what we get from selling everything in Folkvangr. So, we are helping children here and we want to help the children that are living at the shrine back at your village." I insisted.
Take' bowed his head. "Thank you, Eilwyn. I'm sure the children will appreciate what help you proved them." He said giving in.
"When someone is willing to help orphans or anyone in need. Don't argue with them. Needing help has no Familia, and giving help has no Familia." I finished and stood up.
"It's time for us to head home. We have an early start in the morning." I said and headed to the door.

Okay, so between me talking about the monster fam in the notes of a post and answering some anon asks about it, I figure I should finally publish this post that I drafted for literally no reason.
So, I should note, everything below the cut is not something I think will happen in the canon, because I have no idea what will happen in the canon, honestly. This is just some stuff I came up with thinking about what I would do if it were me. All of this also runs on the assumption that Ragnarok doesn’t happen when Atreus is 15 (for whatever reason, take your pick), that there are other giants out there in Jotunheim (they’re just hiding), and also there’s a lot of time travel involved. Anyways...Monster Fam Time (and also Sigyn).
Sleipnir
DON’T CLOSE OUT OF THE POST, I PROMISE IT’S NOT WEIRD.
So those of you who have read “awake and unafraid...” might’ve noticed a line in chapter one about how Ruvik claims his horses are “direct descendants of Svaðilfari, Hrimthur’s own stallion” and “So fast, you’d swear they had extra legs.” That was, in fact, a deliberate nod to my own headcanon. Essentially, Jotnar horses are just exceptionally awesome and slightly magical horses and Sleipnir is, in fact, a direct descendant of  Svaðilfari. After Jotunheim’s semi-collapse, a lot of these are living semi-feral, mustang-style. Unfortunately, this leaves them vulnerable to predators, and one predator left Sleipnir injured and orphaned.
Fortunately for him, though, he happened to be found by a late-teens god and his grumpy also-a-god father. Atreus being the big softie that he is immediately takes in and helps heal the young foal. Between him being Slightly Magical and Atreus being able to talk to animals, they are able to communicate and Sleipnir becomes One Of The Family.
Angrboda
Important things to know about Angrboda: she’s two inches taller than Kratos, buff as hell, and Atreus falls in love with her the second he lays eyes on her. Fortunately for him, she likes that he’s funny and also stronger than he looks, so they hit it off and get married. She’s got a very bright extroverted personality, and while you’d think that would put her in contrast with Kratos, he actually thinks she’s pretty great.
Unfortunately, this story has a sad end, as Angrboda ends up in Midgard and running into the one person you don’t want to run into in Midgard...but more on that in Hela’s section.
Jörmungandr
Named for the World Serpent (though put a pin in that), Jörmungandr has his father’s appearance and talent for magic and his grandfather’s grumpy introvert personality. He was also a bit of an emo teen, but despite this, he really does love his family and is super protective of them. He’s just also Most Likely To Go Off When Provoked (to the shock of pretty much everyone, who expects that behavior more from Fenris).
The plot twist is that he IS the World Serpent (a discovery that gives his father an existential crisis), becoming such when the Aesir show up to try and stop Ragnarok (but in doing so, nearly kick off Rangarok for a SECOND time because they just never learn). This leads to the whole “creating a stable time loop and being thrown back before his own birth” thing, and also his brain getting a bit scrambled, hence why he’s stuck as a giant snake and only speaks Old Giant. (In this very loose take on what I’d do to tackle Ragnarok they do end up transforming him back, but the poor guy is a bit messed up by the whole thing.)
Fenrir
Fenrir looks like his mom and has her exact personality--gregarious and a bit brash--but he takes after his father in that he’s a Wolf Kid. Turning into a wolf is the one and only spell he masters. A lot of people think that he’d be the one with rage issues (as he does have some ability as a berserker), but he’s really an easygoing and kind dude. He’s just also got big ADHD (predominantly hyperactive) energy, tussles as a way of showing affection, and forgets his own strength. The phrase, “Fenrir, don’t hit your brother” was thrown around a lot when he was a toddler.
Fenrir ends up being bound in wolf form as part of the whole Ragnarok 2: Electric Boogaloo thing; he is also freed, and it does give him a major grudge against Odin but otherwise he’s still mostly a good kid. Also, he doesn’t bite off Tyr’s hand in this version because I have other plans for Tyr. These were also alluded to in “awake and unafraid...” and if you spotted that reference, you win.
Hel
As mentioned above, Angrboda unfortunately has a run-in with Thor that ends her life and nearly ends Hel’s, as Angrboda was pregnant with her only daughter at the time. Atreus is barely able to save Hel’s life with magic, but the results left Hel a little...odd. Appearance-wise, half her body has a deathly blueish pallor (the right half, and interestingly it’s darker on the face in a very familiar pattern) and blind in one eye. Personality-wise, she’s the most withdrawn of the three, says weird cryptic shit all the time that might be prophetic, and also can talk to ghosts, a fact the family learned when she casually mentioned Calliope to Kratos a conversation. Kratos had never told her about Calliope before then, so obviously that was a bizarre day. (She actually is really close with Kratos, despite his initial worries about how his Trauma would react to having a granddaughter.)
During Ragnarok 2: When Will You Learn That Your Actions Have Consequences, they attempt to send Hel away for her protection, but she accidentally gets thrown back in time even further than her older brother. This leads to her being discovered by the Aesir, who are immediately offput by this weird teenager saying cryptic shit and decide “Hey, y’know what...Helheim needs a keeper, let’s just put her there and not worry about it.” (She actually goes behind their backs to make a second Valhalla for the worthy dead who didn’t serve Odin and wouldn’t end up in Folkvangr for whatever reason, so people like her mother, grandmother, and her adoptive wine uncle. Conveniently, this is where the armies of Jotunheim Odin was so worried about come from...something that wouldn’t have happened if he hadn’t fucked with her family. Funny, that!)
Sigyn
Sigyn is another giant, though on the short side for one (she’d be tall for a human, though), known for her gifts of magic and potion-making. She and Atreus keep running into each other in town and while foraging out in the woods, end up having a slow-burn friends-to-lovers relationship, and get married when Hel is almost of age. She doesn’t look like much, but she’s fiercely loyal and knows how to make a lot of poisons. Straight up, she almost throws a bowl of that snake-potion in Kratos’s face during the whole “Second Ragnarok” thing because in her panic and blind rage she thought he was Thor coming in for some extra torture.

Trust
It was during a training session that a flustered Elise approached Alfonse and asked him to come with her urgently. The cheerful and bubbly attitude that the young troubadour always seemed to sport was replaced with anxiety mixed with righteous anger as she pulled on Alfonse’s arm, intent on dragging him if need be so.
“It’s about Kiran! A man hurt her!” Elise pleaded.
Elise almost fell as Alfonse immediately began to walk rapidly towards the training grounds’ exit, pulling her along with him for a few feet before she regained her footing. His expression was hard, frown already set in and mouth curved downwards in anger.
“Lead the way, Elise.”
----------
The scene Alfonse came upon made him see red.
Kiran stood to the side, head hung in shame and an attempt to hide the tears that threatened to spill from her eyes. Nursing a red hand-shaped mark on her cheek. Corrin’s hands rested on her shoulders in an attempt to comfort her, and Elise parted from his side to join her older sister.
Xander had an iron grip on the arm of a man Alfonse immediately recognized as one of the royal tacticians his father the king had lent to the Order of Heroes, and who had been charged with giving Kiran formal training on military tactics as per her request.  His eyes widened as soon as he spotted the prince, mouth immediately opening to placate him but Alfonse was having none of it.
With great effort, Alfonse managed to keep his voice even as he asked “What happened here?”
“This cretin” Xander tightened his grip on the royal tactician for emphasis, causing the man to yelp “Struck Kiran. Corrin, Elise and I witnessed it.”
“I see. Thank you for holding him here until I arrived.” Alfonse said, voice instantly softening as he turned to Kiran. “Are you alright, Kiran?”
Kiran nodded, head still down. Corrin squeezed her shoulders in reassurance. “Yes. I’m okay.”
Oh, how Alfonse wanted to draw Folkvangr right then and there and drive it through the man when he heard the quiver in her voice.
“Prince Alfonse! I can explain!” the royal tactician begged, eyes wild with panic.
Alfonse had to keep himself from snorting in response. How could he possibly justify hurting her? “Let’s hear it, then.”
“This girl” the royal tactician jabbed his finger towards Kiran, who flinched instinctively “will destroy this Order! Instead of following the strategies I’ve taught her, she keeps implementing hare-brained schemes!”
“…They’re not hare-brained schemes.” Kiran responded, blinking back her tears. “I’m just adapting what you’ve taught me to create new scenarios so the enemies can’t easily predict our moves, which they would if I used your strategies as they are.”
“Insolent girl! I’ve served Askr for longer than you’ve been alive! You’re nothing but an ungrateful little-“
“Enough.”
The sheer venom behind those words startled everyone present, even Alfonse himself. His hand rested on the hilt of Folkvangr as he turned to face the royal tactician, all color draining from his face as he met the glare of his prince.
“These ‘hare-brained schemes’, as you call them, are responsible for the Order of Heroes’ current state.” Alfonse stated matter-of-factly. “An Order with lesser casualties, an Order who can now fight Embla in equal footing, an Order which prevailed against and defeated Surtr. All feats accomplished thanks to Kiran.”
“But, Your Highness-“
“I am not finished.” Alfonse pressed on. “For you to dare raise your hand against someone who has done so much for Askr, all out of jealousy… There are no words. I am disgusted with you.”
Alfonse signaled for a guard, two stepping forward to grab the arms of the royal tactician. “There will be a punishment. Take time to think on the consequences of your actions.”
Alfonse sighed as the man was dragged away by the guards, kicking and screaming for the prince to listen, but he was set on his decision. Xander nodded to him in approval, excusing himself along with Elise and Corrin, who gave Kiran’s shoulders one last squeeze. Alfonse stepped forward, hand carefully cupping Kiran’s cheek to inspect the damage. The mark was starting to fade, much to Alfonse’s relief.
“Are you truly alright, Kiran?” he asked.
Kiran smiled. “I am, Alfonse, I promise. Especially after you defended me like that. It was very sweet of you.” she giggled and Alfonse couldn’t help but blush at her words.
“W-well, I could not in allow him in good faith to insult the Summoner and Head Tactician of this Order…” ‘and my trusted partner’, he thought.
Kiran seemed to know what he was thinking, as her smile morphed into a grin “I know. Thank you.” Kiran’s expression quickly grew somber. “But… what if my plans do fail? What if one day I bring ruin upon Askr?”
Alfonse frowned. He knew Kiran’s self-confidence tended to falter at times, and to hear such scathing remarks from someone she had stated to him she respected… it was only obvious it would struck a chord with her.
“If that day ever comes, Kiran – and I do not believe it will – then I will trust you to save Askr once again. Because you are not perfect, but you are nothing but resourceful and persevering, and I know in my heart that you would succeed.”
Kiran stared at him in shock. Then she hugged him tightly. Alfonse smiled and returned the embrace in full, thanking any and all gods for bringing Kiran to him. The savior of Askr, and his trusted partner.
----------
I know in my heart that you would succeed.
As Alfonse struggled to breathe, pained groans escaping him due to the curse of Hel, ruler of the Dead, Kiran could only hope that his trust in her wasn’t misplaced.

(last updated 12/24/2020.)
looking for fics starring or featuring The Only Character In Fire Emblem? wait no more! mostly raven/lucius, but there’s some gen fic too if that’s not your thing. :]
if you don’t see your favourites on this list, feel free to reblog/reply to this post with your own additions!
ship fic
cup runneth over by elibe - 12k. an angel!lucius lucius/raven au. I won’t spoil much, but this is one of my all-time favourites! beautifully written, unbelievably sweet. (CW: death, brief mentions of throwing up, non-explicit nsfw near the end)
“This — you — are my purpose,” Raven trips over his words. He feels nothing but the blazing heat of the flush that spreads across his skin. “Any other purpose eludes me. I — I am not a man deserving of mercy and grace and yet you have given me both wholeheartedly. You deserve better than this.”
“Then what is it that I deserve?” Lucius asks. His voice wavers and he clutches Raven’s hand like a vice.
“Love.” He answers breathlessly.
-> I’ll go ahead and cut this list in half by adding a recommendation for any of ao3 user elibe’s fic, their work is always a delight to read-- i’ll highlight the line, heat death and i need no ring by them.
namesakes by folkvangr (lusteralliance) - 1k. short and sweet, two dads naming their kids. :]
they did not have names; lucius told raven that he hoped to give them names soon. raven didn’t like referring to the children as “hey you” and “kid” all the time, so he secretly hoped to do so, too.
we'll build our house in a field of gold by elinciacrimea - 8k. fleshes out canon really nicely. Reading this fic always gives me a bit of a cozy feeling. I’ll go on to recommend a lot of this user’s work too, here’s a florina/lyn fic from them I love. (CW: mentions of suicide, and the circumstances around the fall of House Cornwell)
Several years after the events on the Dread Isle, Raven and Lucius pay a visit. Secrets are shared, love is discussed, and new futures are built.
for now by cavalry - 3k. explores a lot of the things I love about lucius’ character, plus a very soft established relationship lucius/raven. set between fe6 and fe7. (CW: In their own words, mentions of canon-typical violence (but nothing on-screen), and Lucius has a panic attack.)
Raven returns to the orphanage with gifts in tow.
Hail The Marquess! A Fire Emblem Story by SpareTimeEntertainment - 42k. Admittedly a bit of a cheat since lucius/raven is just a background ship in this one, but they’re very sweet in it. Cheesy in the best way. If you like Florina/Lyn, hijinks, and surprisingly engaging suspense and action, this feel-good story is for you. (CW: there are some brief scenes where someone is trying to coerce Lyn into getting married, but it’s resolved quickly and framed as a bad thing. also, people get drunk.)
Jubilation in Caelin! On the fourth anniversary of his ascension to the seat, the great Marquess Eliwood of Pherae is to be honoured on a night of celebrations hosted by his dear friend, the Lady Lyndis. But despite the lavish presentation for her honoured guest, Lyn's heart is torn. With her own lordship imminent and her seat of Caelin guaranteed, would-be courtiers are flocking like vultures - but the most heartfelt and unassuming one of all is Lyn's own dearly beloved Florina. Meek as ever, Florina would need a miracle - or a master plan - to win Lyn's heart. Fortunately for her, a familiar tactician just rode back into town...
Spare Time Entertainment is proud to present a romantic comedy - where the war of the heart is waged in cavalry charges of passion and phalanx formations of love, where old friends and familiar faces have just one night to enshrine a love long adored. It's a race against time (and a hell of a good time) in...
HAIL THE MARQUESS!
i want you to stay by ackermanx - 3k. a fun and heartwarming modern au. can it be considered a classic at this point...?? (also, not related to anything, but every time i read the author’s notes on this one I laugh a lot.) (CW: some discussion of religion, but it’s lighthearted.)
"Oh, is your sister leaving? A shame, I was going to talk to her about leading the choir. Although, you're still here, so I suppose that's enough."
Raven turns around at the sound of the familiar voice, making a strangled noise once he realizes just how close Lucius is. He's unable to tear his gaze away from the other male's sparkling eyes, the tiny curl of his lips as a smile spreads across his face -
Shit, Raven thinks. I do like Lucius.
By Your Side by pixelpiano - 1k. short and soft and sweet. also, trans!lucius!
Lucius and Raymond discuss the future...
gen
Soren's Fantastical Askran Adventures by fairmyrmidon - 4k. holds a special place in my heart. soren from fe9/10 and lucius becoming frends in askr!
Soren appears in Askr, intimidates the summoner, and frightens everyone except for a healer who is already experienced in dealing with foul attitudes.
A Lady's Generosity by estamir - 2k. super cute lucius/serra/matthew friendship!
Lucius is facing a rough winter at the orphanage he's opened in Araphen. Serra has other ideas
At sixteen you departed by tattedmariposa - 700. platonic lucius&priscilla, this author’s style is so captivating.
It was outside the healer's tent, in the time between afternoon and evening when the sun colored the earth warmly, where Priscilla finally gained the courage to ask.

Turnabout Persona: Investigation Team Personas
I decided on the Investigation Team’s Personas a while ago. I’m talking like... last year. I revised them a bit recently, and I thought it’s about time that I put them out there and get people’s opinions on them. Like with the members of SEES, I’ll put the list under a cut just in case no one wants to be spoiled.
And like with SEES, there are canon Personas in this because of carry-over. This is an AU, but not everything changes.
In order of character Awakening/reveal in one person’s case:
PHOENIX WRIGHT:
ACHILLES: The Fool Arcana, Achilles is Phoenix’s Initial Persona. He came to his User’s aid in the TV World after being somewhat Awakened by Izanami on Phoenix’s first day in Kurain. Achilles was a hero in the Trojan War and one of the greatest Greek heroes. He was said to be invincible, with the exception of a small spot on his heel. This turned out to be his downfall, after he was struck there with an arrow by the Trojan Prince Paris.
PROMETHEUS: The World Arcana, and Phoenix’s Ultimate Persona. Achilles had regressed back into a Shadow following a spell from Izanami that took advantage of Phoenix’s repressed emotions over leaving Kurain. Once Phoenix accepted his Shadow, it was able to fully unlock its potential and evolve into it’s ultimate form. Prometheus was a Titan who’s credited with the creation of humanity. He defied the gods’ wishes by stealing fire for humans, and as punishment was chained to a rock where an eagle would pick out his liver each day. Eventually, he was set free by Heracles.
LARRY BUTZ:
PYGMALION: The Magician Arcana. Larry’s Initial Persona. Larry Awakened his Persona upon accepting his Shadow (with Phoenix’s help), and accepted his desire for self-gratification and excitement over the murders, as well as using the death of a girl he loved to have a chance to play hero. Pygmalion was a Greek sculpture who fell in love with a statute that he made. After praying to Aphrodite, his statue was granted life.
HEPHAESTUS: The Magician Arcana. Larry’s Ultimate Persona. He evolves following Larry’s resolution to live every day to the fullest, being true to himself in the process and promising to no longer live an unhappy lie. Hephaestus is the Greek god of blacksmiths, artisans and fire among other things. He was cast off of Mount Olympus by Hera at birth for not being born a “perfect child”, and served to forge all of the weapons of the gods.
MAYA FEY:
KAGUYA: The Moon Arcana. Maya’s Initial Persona. Kaguya is born when Maya accepts her Shadow, and by extension, accepts her feelings towards Iris -- how she felt that Iris did all the hard work around the family’s inn while Maya received all the attention, and her cousin was worthless without her around. In Japanese folklore, Kaguya was found and raised by a bamboo cutter. She was pursued by many men, sending all on impossible tasks before returning to her home on the moon.
KIKURI-HIME: The Moon Arcana. Maya’s Ultimate Persona. Kaguya evolves in Kikuri-Hime upon Maya and Mia’s familial bond being restored, Maya accepting that (no matter how busy she may be) her sister does love her with all her heart, and that their family will keep growing to include new people (such as Phoenix, flustering him when she says this). Kikuri-Hime is a Shinto deity who mediated between Izanagi and Izanami during their confrontation in Yomi (the land of the dead) and relayed Izanami’s words to Izanagi.
IRIS FEY:
TSUNADE: The Priestess Arcana. Iris’s Initial Persona. Iris Awakened to Tsunade upon accepting her Shadow and the repressed feelings she held -- mainly anger and frustration. Iris felt chained down by her family, unable to escape her fate of being stuck in Kurain as they decided everything for her. Unable to stand up for herself, Iris started to see herself as a false princess waiting for a prince to rescue her, which would eventually give birth to her Shadow. Tsunade was the lover of Jiraiya, as well as a master of slug magic in Japanese folklore. According to some sources, she could summon snails.
AME-NO-UZUME: The Priestess Arcana. Iris’s Ultimate Persona. Tsunade evolved upon Iris’s resolve to stay in Kurain of her own free will. She realizes how much her family -- those who raised her and stood by her -- means to her, and her desire to stand with them and to protect them. Ame-No-Uzume is the Japanese goddess of the dawn in Shinto religion. She is said to have lured Amatarasu out of a cave that the latter had barricaded herself in.
DICK GUMSHOE:
ODYSSEUS: The Chariot Arcana. Gumshoe’s Initial Persona. Odysseus came to be following Gumshoe’s acceptance of his Shadow. The detective heavily attempted to repress his true self -- described as a “bumbling, gentle giant” in favor of confirming to a hard-boiled detective in order to avoid ridicule from his co-workers and the people in town, even if it meant sacrificing his feelings and the things he enjoyed. Odysseus was a Greek king and the protagonist of the Odyssey. He as resourceful and quick-witted. He’s famous for taking ten years to return home.
MARS: The Chariot Arcana. Gumshoe’s Ultimate Persona. Mars evolved from Odysseus when Gumshoe resolved to no longer hide who he was and to help people understand that there was no changing who he was, either. Mars is the Roman god of war and a guardian of agriculture. He is often equated to Ares, although Mars has a calmer personality than his Greek counterpart. The war Mars represents is seen as a method of securing peace rather than Ares’ pure violence.
MILES EDGEWORTH:
MIMIR: The Emperor Arcana. Miles’s Initial Persona. He was Awakened to upon Miles’s confronting his Shadow, which had manifested as a result of the boy not being able to express his inner self, donning multiple masks in order to please the public. Mimir is a figure in Norse mythology, known for his knowledge and wisdom. After being beheaded, Odin took the man’s severed head in order to seek council with it, as well as share information. Mimir is a strictly navigational Persona, although he shows potential for battle during the fight against Franziska’s Shadow.
ODIN: The Emperor Arcana. Miles’s Ultimate Persona. The second-to-last Persona to evolve, Odin took form following Miles accepting the many parts of himself as one person and resolving to make sure that everyone knows who he really is rather than just some fabricated personality. Odin is the chief god in Norse mythology, associated with wisdom, war and magic. He sacrificed an eye to gain his knowledge. While originally thought to be a navigation Persona, Odin is later revealed to be able to shift between being a Navigation Persona and a Battle Persona. It should also be worth noting that Odin was the Ultimate Persona of Gregory Edgeworth as well.
TEDDIE:
KINTOKI-DOUJI: The Star Arcana. Teddie’s Initial Persona. This Persona formed as the result of an abnormal Awakening. Despite being a Shadow himself, Teddie was able to manifest a Shadow of his own due to his fears about being empty and repressing his true nature. Although he does not remember the truth, he does eventually accept himself for who he is and vows to better himself because of it.
KAMUI: The Star Arcana. Teddie’s Ultimate Persona. He evolves following Teddie learning the truth about who he is, and resolving to do his best to do what he can to help his friends (who later become his family).
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:
BRUNHILD: The Strength Arcana. Franziska’s Initial Persona. She was Awakened to when Franziska accepted her Shadow Self -- a creature that had been born from her repressed feelings about not being able to succeed or be taken seriously due to her age and her gender. As a result of these emotions, she forced herself to grow up rather than enjoy her time as a child. Brunhild is a valkyrie in Norse legend. She is a powerful figure who brought the downfall of a great hero.
FREYA: The Strength Arcana. Franziska’s Ultimate Persona. Freya evolves from Brunhild upon Franziska accepting herself, admitting that she is still a child and that she enjoyed getting to be one around the rest of the Investigation Team. Freya is a Norse goddess of love, but as well as war and magic. She was responsible for those who lost battle and went to Folkvangr.
MIA FEY:
PERSEPHONE: Death Arcana. Mia Fey’s Ultimate Persona, having evolved from her former Persona fuses in order to save the members of SEES from Nyx about four years prior to the TV Murder case. Persephone is the wife of Hades and the Queen of the Underworld. After a deal was made with Demeter to save life, Persephone spends six months in the Underworld and six months on Earth.

An Interview with Inferno~
50 Character Builder Questions for your Tabletop Character by Ginny Di
Are you a morning person or more of a night owl?
I am much more of a morning person. I like to wake up early, to start moving as the sun rises and feel sunlight on my skin and feel the rest of the world waking up with me.
What’s the first thing you notice about a person when you meet them?
The way they stand. Do they stand proud? Or do they seem like they have something to hide? Are they fidgeting with something? Do they look comfortable or nervous?
You see a huge spider in your room. What do you do?
Catch it and let it out. I don’t want to kill an innocent creature.
If you could go back and change one decision you made in the past, what would you change?
I would change how I didn’t go to Greenwich sooner. Maybe I’d have met Shortiss, Todd, and Cochann sooner. I was fine, of course, so were they, but I wonder what might’ve happened.
Tell me about your first kiss.
*deadpan* no.
Do you give people second chances?
Of course. I believe there is good in everyone, but also that everyone has a capacity to do evil. We must work with each other to bring the light out in ourselves and others.
Except for Todd. He receives no sympathy from me.
Are you a cat person or a dog person?
Dogs ☺️
Do you think you’re attractive?
By Genasi standards or human ones? I wouldn’t say so, probably, but Basil complimented my muscles the other day, so perhaps? (Me: baby that was for a Bardic no-)
What’s your worst habit?
Letting Todd make any decision with consequences.
(It’s hair upkeep. It might be made of fire, Inferno, but you still have to take care of it).
When was the last time you cried?
It- it’s been a while. I won’t lie, I teared up fighting those black dragons about a month ago, but I also almost died, so I believe I had good reason.
But the last time I really cried- Probably the time I realized I can’t save everyone all the time. That still weighs heavily on me. I’ve come to accept it now, to some extent, but I still wish I could.
Are you a good liar?
In theory, yes. In practice, no. (Read: high charisma, but I always get shitty rolls)
What’s your biggest pet peeve?
Being Todd.
Ok, but really. I’m not sure if this counts as a pet peeve or not, but having a general disregard for the welfare of others.
Have you ever had your heart broken?
In the sense that this is asking? No. However, when we found the Sword of Tyr (I’m pretty sure it’s a homebrew weapon our DM made for her. Basically she has to prove herself worthy to the sword to unlock its full potential.) and I realized that for some reason, I’m not considered worthy by Tyr yet, I’m fairly sure that’s what heartbreak feels like.
It’s okay, though. I’m fine. I just need to do better. I won’t give up.
Are you more likely to use your fists or your words in an argument?
Words first, but then, swords are a fantastic backup option.
What’s something you’re naturally good at?
I’m pretty naturally good at healing. Of course, having Lay on Hands and Cure Wounds helps, but I’m usually pretty good at patching up my friends.
What’s something you had to work hard to be good at?
I have to work really hard to be even remotely passable in anything dexterous. You’d think a warrior like myself would be able to handle a slippery floor or even just hopping into a Bag of Holding, but those are both things that have felled me when my enemies have failed to. (Poor baby has a -2 modifier and I roll really bad for every single Dex check.)
Can you tell when someone is flirting with you?
Absolutely not. Honestly, that entire realm, romance and affection, are just entirely beyond me.
Do you think money can buy happiness?
No. Money can supply temporary happiness. Drinks at the tavern, fancy homes, that sort of thing. But real happiness- at one point, I wasn’t sure it really existed outside of fairy tales. But now I know that true happiness is found in those around you. Shortiss, Cochann, Todd, and even our two additions, Ember and Basil, they’ve all helped me realize that I need my friends just as much as they need me. I don’t think they know it, but I’d throw myself in front of a million dragons if it meant they were safe. They’ve changed my life, and I am forever grateful.
Do you believe in destiny?
Yes. Everyone has a destiny. Life is an ever-winding road leading you there. It’s impossible to avoid, but really, why would you? Destiny is what you were meant to do. Your destiny will see you at your very strongest and push you into greatness. One day I know I’ll reach mine. Until then, I’ll just get stronger and keep growing.
Are you a good cook?
I’m literally made of fire. Everything burns.
Surprisingly enough, though, Ember’s not a bad cook.
What do you think happens after you die?
Well, valiant warriors, those who give their lives for others and would fight ‘til their dying breath, those people go to Valhalla or Folkvangr to dine with the gods and prepare for Ragnarok. For others, Hel most likely awaits.
Did you have to grow up fast?
No. I was blessed with a good father and a good station. I was always mature for my age, but I know that’s not nearly the same thing.
Who do you look up to?
I’m not sure I really look up to anyone. I must carve my own path in this world.
When you go to a tavern, what do you order?
Usually something light, or nothing at all. Todd drinks enough for all of us.
What do you like most about yourself?
I’m persistent as hell. I’m also pretty hard to kill.
What do you like least about yourself?
Sometimes I get caught up and lose myself in my own competitive drive, and it causes me to lose my good judgement. *grins* I blame Cochann. He’s a bad influence. (She doesn’t really blame him. He is, however, a bad influence. Only sometimes, though.)
Are you a planner, or more spontaneous?
Spontaneous. If I make plans, I make them in the moment.
Can you keep a secret?
Absolutely.
Do you like being the center of attention?
Not usually. I tend to stay towards the back of most situations with Shortiss. Basil is far more fit for the attention, anyways.
If you knew you were going to die tomorrow, what would you do today?
I wouldn’t do a single thing different. If I’m destined to die, I’ll go down fighting.
Do you enjoy getting all dressed up for a special occasion?
Not really, but polishing my armor and sharpening my blades gives me a similar feeling, I think.
Where do you feel safe?
With my friends. Sure, they can be annoying, but I know nobody has my back like they do. *laughs* Yes, even Todd.
Do you love or hate being alone?
At one point, I probably would’ve said I love it, but now I can’t imagine being without my friends.
What’s the last nightmare you remember having?
Well, I have horrific nightmares about what will happen if the Cult of the Dragons succeeds exactly every fifth night. That is what drove me to this quest anyways.
Do you admit to mistakes when you make them?
I try to.
Do you want to grow up to be like your parents?
No. My father was a good man, but I have my own destiny.
How do you deal with being sick? Are you stoic, or super whiny?
I legitimately cannot get sick.
What did your parents expect from you when you were born?
My father didn’t truly expect much from me. He always just told me I should strive to be good and do good.
Do you have a strong sense of style?
Fighting style, yes.
Would you rather camp outdoors or stay the night in an inn?
Depends. How good is the inn? What’s the weather like? I refuse to sleep in the rain. It messes with my hair. (We’ve decided she’s like a charmander and if the flame goes out, she, like, dies. Maybe not completely but Bad Stuff happens.)
Is there a food that most people like that you absolutely hate?
I’m pretty tolerable of most foods.
Are you more of a hoarder or a minimalist?
Minimalist. I don’t carry much.
Are you superstitious?
No. (Yes.)
Are you the kind of person who remembers people’s birthdays and pets’ names and stuff?
Absolutely. My mind is an iron lock. (No it’s not. She tries, though.)
What do you do to feel better when you’re sad?
I go to my friends. They always know how to cheer me up. Maybe some friendly competition with Cochann, sitting and chatting with Shortiss or Ember, or doing whatever the hell it is Basil and Todd normally do.
Is it hard for you to trust someone?
Not really. Unless it looks like they’ve got something to hide.
Are you susceptible to peer pressure?
No. Well, not on the things that matter.
If you decided to stop adventuring and settle down, what kind of job would you take?
I’m not sure. I would probably want to be a healer. Maybe find a village to protect. Honestly, though, I cannot see myself giving up this life. I’ve sworn an oath to Tyr. Every day must be spent making sure I follow through.
As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Truthfully, this. I wanted to be a noble adventurer who helped the innocent and did good deeds. I think if, back then, I’d known one day I’d slay a real dragon, well, I probably would’ve exploded from pure excitement.

*I guess a little announcement cuz I changed my username again cuz I don’t wanna be a themed blog anymore I can’t do it*
Anyway, this is my like first Fire Emblems Heroes team. They kinda became obsolete with all of the new heroes and their fancy abilities, but I recently went through and redid all of their builds and they’re quite good now. I can beat 5 advanced opponents in a row in Arena (i’m tier 17 tho) and I beat Paralogue 52-2 & 52-3 without anyone dying.
More Explanation/Detail:
The idea of this composition is to simply support Alfonse, as Alfonse cannot be merged and so has lower stats.
Alfonse - The Man We Put Our Hopes and Dreams In Folkvangr + Spd: so the idea of giving the speed upgrade to his weapons is that Alfonse is not very fast, and he needs all the speed he gets. Rally Spd/Def: This skill is useful if anyone else on the team is going to take a hit, or to empower Lucina. Sol: I mainly kept Sol as Alfonse’s special to give him some durability. I tried using Noontime, in the hopes that he’d be able to stay below 80% health so his weapon’s ability would be activated more often. However, Noontime didn’t give him enough health back and he ended up dying. Fury: Fury will damage Alfonse every time after he attacks, so it’s good for getting his HP low enough to activate his weapon’s ability. Vantage: This is so that when Alfonse gets attacked while he’s at low health, he actually has a chance to use his increased stats. This also helps Alfonse function as a sort of pseudo-tank. I can let enemies attack him, instead of having to attack first. Spur Atk: This is Alfonse’s original C ability, and I didn’t find anything wrong with it. It’s useful to empower everyone else on the team Atk/Spd Bond: This is just more attack and speed. Support: Rank S with Takumi Takumi - Only Job Is to Support Alfonse Fujin Yumi + Eff: This gives Takumi a lot of mobility. Rally Def/Res: Takumi uses this on Alfonse to make him more durable. Moonbow: I realized that with how I usually play, Takumi doesn’t end up taking a lot of hits, since Alfonse takes all the hits. Takumi’s original special Vengeance hadn’t been very useful. Moonbow seemed like the best alternative. Close Counter: Ideally if I ever summon Midori again I will give Takumi Close Foil. The added stats from Close Foil will make him a lot more durable. Seal Def: The idea of this is that Takumi will attack enemies that cannot counter attack him first, and Alfonse will follow up. Lowering the defense makes it easier for Alfonse to defeat the enemy. Def Opening: Alfonse is the one with the highest defense, so this will always go to him. This makes Alfonse more durable so that I can let enemies attack him without him dying. Drive Spd: Make Alfonse Faster Support: Rank S with Alfonse. Basically, Takumi should always be right next to Alfonse any time Alfonse is going to attack or be attacked. Lucina - Support Alfonse, and Initiate Combat! Geirskogul + Eff: The stat bonus to other team members from Lucina’s weapon made her an ideal choice to put on this team. With the upgrade, she grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res +3, which is basically another Fury, just no HP loss for Alfonse. Draw Back: This lets Lucina bring Deirdre and Takumi out of danger, and adds to the mobility of the team. Aether: Lucina’s ability to restore her HP adds to her durability. Darting Blow: I changed her A skill to darting blow so that it’d be more likely her S skill, flashing blade, would activate. Desperation: Lucina has a lower Def/Res than Alfonse, which makes it undesirable for her to be attacked. It’s more desirable that Lucina initiate combat, and Desperation will help her to take out enemies at low health. Drive Spd: Make Alfonse Faster Flashing Blade: Lucina has very decent speed, and since Aether has a long cooldown, this helps her to activate Aether more often. Support: Rank S with Deirdre Deirdre - Res Tank Divine Naga + Eff: Deirdre has extremely high Res, so her upgraded ability pretty much always activates. Ardent Sacrifice: This can be used to keep team members alive and to activate her A skil Rising Wind: I kinda just gave her this and you know it’s been fine to use. Haven’t had any problems with it. It has the potential to damage many enemies, making following up with Alfonse easier. Defiant Res: This will make it even more likely for Deirdre’s weapon ability and for her C skill Spd Ploy to activate when she’s at lower health. Quick Riposte: Deirdre also not very fast, but having this ability and a high Res lets her get around that. Only let enemies whose damage calculates using Res attack Deirdre. Spd Ploy: Positioning Deirdre so she lowers the speed of enemies before they attack Alfonse helps Alfonse. Fortress Res: Increase Deirdre’s tankiness even more. Support: Rank S with Lucina If Alfonse receives stat boosts from Takumi, Lucina, his weapon, and his S skill, (and we assume that someday I’ll fully upgrade the S skills) he ends up getting: Atk: 3 (Lucina) + 6 (S skill) + 2 (Takumi) + 7 (Folkvangr) = 18 Spd: 6 (Lucina) + 6 (S skill) + 5 (Takumi) = 17 Def: 3 (Lucina) + 11 (Takumi) + 7 (Folkvangr) = 21 Res: 3 (Lucina) + 5 (Takumi) = 8 Alfonse’s In-Battle Stats, at their maximum, then become: Atk: 73 Spd: 48 Def: 56 Res: 33 And once I get all the dragonflowers on Alfonse, those’ll be a couple points higher.
In conclusion, support Alfonse. Or use Lucina & Takumi to support someone who’s more OP. Like Laevatein, maybe. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

i read your Norse mythology and snk metas and they’re really great. I even made some research and I have a question: is main inspiration for Ackerman clan are Berserkers and Norse clans in general? I would say Scottish clans but Norse fit better in description. and Karl fritz/whole fritz line till historia is Freyr? or historia is freyr- al least during uprising arc?
Hmm, I wouldn’t compare the Ackermans to berserkers since they never really lose their control. Titan shifters before they gain full control over their titans are much more like this: rampaging, unable to distinguish between friend and foe, etc.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Titan shifters are also like berserkers on account of their power itself. The Norse sagas talk of shape-shifters and many scholars think that this is another way of referring to a berserker. This is because it was believed that berserkers were possessed by an animal spirit on their rampage, and also because characters who are described as shape-shifters always tend to be berserkers as well. Titan shifters are certainly analogous to shape-shifters.
I would compare the Ackermans more to the chivalric ideal of European knights: wholly devoted to their king and possessing legendary skill, like the Knights of the Round Table.
Tumblr media
Where Freyr is concerned, I don’t see much in common with the Fritzes.
Tumblr media
Freyr is a fertility god (thus the boner) most noticeable for coming from the Vanir clan which had formally been at war with the Aesir, for sending his servant to woo a giantess in the poem Skirnirsmal, and for being killed by the fire giant Surtr at Ragnarok because he was defenceless after giving his sword to said servant.
The Fritz are of a different bloodline to the majority of Eldians, this is true, and in that regard they are like Vanir. However, the Fritz do not woo via servants - they kidnap Eren and Rod speaks with Historia directly. The steaming Rod Reiss titan might qualify as Surtr, but Historia kills him, not vice-versa.
Historia has more similarity to Freyr’s twin sister, Freyja.
Tumblr media
Freyja is likewise a fertility god (Historia’s pregnancy), she practices magic (Historia’s bloodline), she rules over Folkvangr (Queen of Eldia), she is considered the most beautiful of the gods and many suitors have sought her hand (everyone wanting to marry Christa). Freyja is also sexually promiscuous, which doesn’t suit Historia so much except for the fact that she’s one of the very few characters who are confirmed to have had sex.
And of course, ‘Christa’ is frequently referred to as a goddess, just as Freyja was one of the most widely worshipped of the gods.
Tumblr media
One might compare the transition she undergoes from Christa to Historia to be like that from the Christian god - from whence her alias derives - (peaceful, merciful, martyr, turn-the-other-cheek) to that of a Germanic god (more selfish, human, and warlike in killing Rod).
Tumblr media
Another intriguing factor of Freyja’s character is that she is often miserable due to the frequent absence of her husband Odr, and searches for him under assumed names. Historia’s ‘Christa’ alias lines up with the latter part, albeit with different motives, but if the theory about Eren being the father is correct then he may be serving as her Odr.
Tumblr media
I’ve also compared Eren to Loki, but I don’t think SNK is a direct retelling of Norse myth: rather it just picks up bits and pieces here and there. Many of the comparisons I suggest will purely be co-incidence of course, but the presence of names like Ymir prove that there certainly is Norse inspiration behind the series.
One final point of interest in the Historia/Freyja comparison is that of Gullveig.
Tumblr media
The poem Voluspa describes this character in the Aesir/Vanir war as being burnt three times and thrice reborn, the third time becoming a skilful seer. Many scholars believe Gullveig is another name for Freyja.
Historia is frequently reborn - first in taking on Christa, then in shedding that identity, then in affirming her right to live. Three times thus far. And each have come from three ‘burns’: the loss of her mother, the loss of Ymir, and the loss of the fantasy she had of her father. How might she be a seer? Perhaps because of her connections to Paths, only properly awakened around the time of the third ‘burn’. Maybe through contact with Eren she has even seen the future as Kruger did.
Tumblr media
This is all heavily interpretive to be sure, and I do not mean to argue this as seriously as I would for something much more definite like the Hange/Odin parallel. I find it fun, though, which is why I do it :p

I had a question if you don't mind answering. Do you headcanon the Breidablik (not sure on my spelling, the summoning weapon) as having any other capabilities beyond simply summoning heroes? I always assumed it to do other things like showing the summoner a map of the battlefield or allow long distance communication with heroes. I was wondering what you thought.
Trust me I never mind ovo ~ also your spelling is exactly right
But this is such a fascinating subject and I know that everyone has their own thoughts and concepts on how it works ( @grimastiddies definitely ascribes to the Breidablik being the source of tactical power), and I love seeing all the different amazing ways that people put together the information that the game has given us!  I’ve put a lot of thought in myself (I actually talked about it a little on the art blog a while back), and it gets a little bit weird so I’m going to cut for the inevitable wall of exposition.
A lot of this actually takes heavy inspiration from Norse mythology, since Heroes is clearly drawing a ton of their naming conventions from that source.  And one of the key things that people think of when they think ‘Norse Mythology’ is valkyries – for good reason, considering Wagner’s opera (we think of Vikings in horned helms entirely because of performances of his work, if that gives any indication of his impact on their popularity and public perception).  Technically, according to the known lore, valkyries served Odin and chose half of the dead from a battlefield to become part of Odin’s host of warriors in his hall of Valhalla….but I much prefer the thought that valkyries served no one god or goddess, and instead watched over battlefields and filled the halls of all the Aesir.
What I find particularly interesting is how many people in Askr and Embla have weapons named after halls belonging to members of the Norse pantheon: Folkvangr, Alfonse’s weapon, is the name of Freyja’s hall; Fensalir, Sharena’s weapon, is the name of Frigga’s hall; Noatun, Anna’s weapon, is the name of Njord’s hall; Valaskjalf, Bruno’s weapon, is the name of another of Odin’s halls (specifically home of his son Vali); and Breidablik, the Summoner’s own weapon – and one no one else could use before Kiran arrived – bears the name of Baldr’s hall.  That’s kind of a weird coincidence, if you ask me, so it got me thinking: what if these weapons held by the Askrans and Emblians were once wielded by valkyries and acted as their means to fill the halls of the gods?
So the concept I’ve developed is that, in the incredibly distant past, all of these weapons – blades, spears, axes, tomes, and whatever nonsense Breidablik is –  had the exact same summoning power.  They were entrusted to the valkyries assigned to each Aesir’s hall which allowed them to both take part in combat on the field and select worthy Heroes from it, who became part of the host of warriors serving the gods and goddesses of the pantheon.  But at some point before history, something happened, and the gods abandoned Zenith outright, leaving almost everything behind – up to and including the valkyrie weapons, which slowly lost their powers due to lack of care.
Eventually human kingdoms began to find their footing, and in time they stumbled upon the ruins left by the gods.  Despite their weakened state, the valkyrie weapons were still incredibly powerful and unique arms, which ended up passed down through the royal families of Askr and Embla; but Breidablik, which never lost its Summoning power (an ability that could only be activated by valkyries, not humans), was unusable, and therefore it became enshrined in Askr along with the legend that in their time of need, it would bring forth a Great Hero capable of saving their world.
And that brings us to Kiran.
Kiran is a very, very strange case.  My own personal headcanon is that the Summoner, just prior to arriving in Askr, suffered a horrific trauma in their world…and when they were summoned, only their spirit arrived.  Their body is actually still trapped there, comatose in a hospital, while their soul now resides in Askr – and that is actually key to why they can wield Breidablik.  The valkyries were themselves believed to be spirits doing the bidding of the gods; the fact that Kiran is, for all their seeming solidity, a spirit presently bound to Askr effectively makes them a valkyrie, which gives them the ability to tap into Breidablik’s summoning powers where none have been able to before.  Unfortunately, Breidablik has not been immune to the atrophy that affected the other valkyrie weapons – but it has lost its combat powers, as opposed to the others that forfeit their summoning abilities.
There is, however, the potential that any of these weapons could have their lost powers restored.  We’ve found ruins that allow us to refine weapons and utilize seals, after all…what if, somewhere out there in the wilds of Zenith, there’s a shrine that the valkyries used to perform restoration rituals when their weapons suffered wear or damage in battle?  What if it could be activated, and allow Breidablik to utilize all new powers (which, technically, are very old powers that it simply lost due to neglect)?
Also, as for the tactical aspect (battlefield mapping and communication), I actually think that the Summoner’s phone is responsible for that!  It’s not actually a real phone, just a construct based on Kiran’s personal connection to it in their world (hence the reason why it never runs out of battery; it can’t connect to the internet or make calls, but it can still play their games and music).  The Fire Emblem: Heroes app is effectively an organizational and management application for them now, which allows them to easily manage the barracks, give new skills to Heroes, adjust equipment…and in battle, it displays an overhead map and enemy unit information by means of Kiran’s own valkyrie status.  By moving units in the app, a glowing trail appears in the overworld that shows the Heroes where to go.  I actually used that whole concept in a fic a while back, if you want to see it in action!

Hiccup/Astrid - Stretch, All in, ecstasy?
This is based off another headcanon I wrote some time ago
Hiccstrid, E
(Ao3)
- Astrid, there has to be an easier way to top Ruffnut… - Shut it, Hiccup, and help me.
Hiccup let out a sigh, knowing there once Astrid makes up her mind, there is a very slim chance of talking her out of her idea, even if it as outrageous as this. A couple of weeks ago, Ruffnut boasted she has achieved managed to use a cracked horn of a monstrous nightmare… to pleasure herself. Though Astrid found the idea preposterous, and far-fetched there was something about Ruffnut’s idea that couldn’t leave her head. And so, when during one of the scout missions around the edge she found a dead one, Astrid only concluded there is one way of testing whether she was telling the truth.
Hiccup swallowed loudly, as Astrid positioned the contraption underneath her body. As she was skilled with weapon handling, she cut off the top, most pointy part of the horn, leaving just the bulk of it. Its top was oddly curved, and that explained to Hiccup what Astrid has been polishing in secret from everyone else. But that still left Astrid with a toy the length and girth almost of man’s arm, which was, quite frankly, scary, though as Hiccup looked at it, there was some reasoning why it could be used for such purposes. Monstrous nightmare’s horns has circular ridges, as they grew new rings each season, which could be quite stimulating…
Hiccup shook his head, as he suddenly realised he just rationalised using a dragon’s horn as a sex toy.
- Astrid, do you have to- - Told you, Hiccup, I’m not gonna let her talk smack. - Yes, but…
Hiccup suddenly stopped, as he helped her undress her.
- Wait, “talk smack”?
Astrid suddenly turned red as she realised she spoke something she shouldn’t have.
- She… she told me I wouldn’t be able to do it. - she admitted - And she might have accused you of, well, you know… - …being the runt of the litter?
Hiccup smiled, just as he pulled his pants down. Smile came back to Astrid’s face and she instantaneously leaned towards her boyfriend, one hand wrapped around his neck, the other one stroking his cock.
- She obviously doesn’t know how lucky I am… - Astrid cooed, breaking the long, soothing kiss. - Mhm… glad you think so, milady… - he replied, suddenly grabbing her by the waist - And this is exactly why maybe you shouldn’t try to dabble in this experiment, since you have, as you say so, quite satisfactory boyfriend already… - Hiccup! - she barked, wriggling out of his hold. - Alright, alright - Hiccup raised his hands in defeat - Will you at least let me check what you came up with? Cos you know, tinkering with stuff is kinda my thing. - You want to compare it, don’t you? - she smirked, passing him the horn.
Hiccup grabbed it, and, avoiding answering the question she knew the answer to, he started inspecting it, swiping it back and forth against his skin, and the material of his shirt, thinking he might find a rough edge that would successfully put Astrid off. But the more he searched, the more perfect it looked and felt, up to the point he had to admit that Astrid did way better job than he would.
- There. I wouldn’t mess around with an object I wanted to put… you know. Down there. - So… - Hiccup grunted, looking at her naked body, acting completely natural, despite the ridiculousness of this situation - Am… am I needed here, even?
At once, Astrid leaned and grabbed him, pulling him onto their bed.
- Of course you do. That only goes in one hole, after all.
She licked her lips, and watched as Hiccup’s face turns red. Her confidence has finally managed to convince Hiccup this might now have been the craziest idea she’s ever had. He gave her a kiss, and stroked her waist trying to imagine how his girlfriend would look like any moment now with a dragon’s horn drilling into her. And just as she let out a faint moan when the foreign object brushed her buttocks, Hiccup suddenly stood up.
- Wait!
And he procured a small jar of something white, half-translucent and faintly smelly.
- Blubber? - Just to ease it in.
Astrid coated the head with a layer of the slippery stuff and repositioned herself, letting the horn sink into her. She gently lowered herself, feeling the horn stretch her asshole, though not in the most unpleasant way she have imagined. At the same time, Hiccup’s cock eased its way into her in much gentler fashion, creating a stark contrast between her real and artificial lovers.
Whether it was her work with the rounded head, or Hiccup’s lubricant, she didn’t know, but the point was, it worked. Hiccup watched as his girlfriend indulges herself in the utter depravity, her eyes widening, the more of the dragon’s horn went inside her.
Her breath quickened, and only thanks to Hiccup’s hands over her waist she hasn’t lost her balance yet. Her strong legs quivered already, reacting to the unknown texture invading her private parts, but as she was determined to one-up her friend, she knew she had to go.
Finally, she let out a yelp and nearly toppled to the side when she realised she has done enough. Hiccup let her lie on her side, and grabbed her leg, giving him better access to her sex and her bum, filled with his inanimate competitor. In this position, they could both control and limit their moves, and as their eyes met, Astrid gave him a small nod. Astrid had some difficulties reaching her other hole, so it was up to Hiccup to operate the toy, and though he was somehow reluctant, he proceeded to do it, once he heard her deep moan when he just brushed it with his fingers. Hiccup mimicked moves of his hips, making them as gentle and cautious as possible, especially since just a minute after he first dived the horn into her ass, she let out a sudden yelp.
- Astrid! Is everything… - YES!
She cried in ecstasy, her leg flailing in the air already. She hastened her bucking onto him, prompting Hiccup to do the same. Most of her moans came as incoherent babbling, and just by their frequency alone, Hiccup was able to tell Astrid was enjoying her ride immensely. Only now he noticed a small handle on the horn, which allowed him far better control over it. But perhaps that difference of paces between him and her toy worked in Astrid’s favour, bringing the element of surprise.
Meanwhile, Astrid thought she was in Folkvangr, or heck, maybe even in Valhalla itself. The ridges on horn stimulated her ass far better than she thought they would, and its stiffness, though it prevented from filling her completely, brought a feeling she hasn’t experienced yet. And then, there was Hiccup’s cock, throbbing in her pussy, adjusting to her insides, as opposed to the blunt object he pleasured her with.
Suddenly, Astrid grabbed Hiccup’s torso, her legs spasmed, and she twisted her body, trying to reach her horn with her own hand. Though Hiccup was a wonderful boyfriend, only she knew how much she needed the artificial help… With one arm stretched to her back, and one between her legs, she found herself immobile in this position, driving herself to her peak… Just as she toyed with her ass, Hiccup redoubled his efforts, ramming himself inside her, as much as he could, given the slightly awkward and not entirely pleasant position.
He kissed her just before she hit her peak, writhing and flailing in place, as her orgasm tore her body filled with not one, but two rock hard lengths… Somewhere in the middle of her orgasmic high, Hiccup came, flooding her with his come, which brought another wave of pleasure to soothe her from the raw orgasm she gave herself.
The brave warrior fell to their bed, as she suddenly found herself completely defeated by the pleasure.
She wasn’t sure when she closed her eyes and drifted to sleep, but when she woke up, she felt her body was tired, sticky and surging with waves of good, deep pain. She also noticed Hiccup wasn’t next to her.
- Hi-Hiccup? - she turned around, which, given the pain in her behind was quite difficult. - Would you like these? - his voice reached her from behind, as he handed her pieces of damp, warm cloth. - Th-Thanks. - she stuttered, cleaning herself up a bit - I will need to go to the river, at once. - I’ll carry you if you can’t walk. - You might need to - she joked, but suddenly felt a pang of guilt swelling inside her - Hiccup… You’re not… jealous, are you? - Why would I be? - he leaned and kissed her. - Well… No man likes to be, you know, outperformed… especially by a piece of bone… - It’s not bone, technically, but I get the idea - he smiled.
He leaned and cupped her face, their next, soothing kiss lasting far longer.
- Astrid, the way you looked when you came, that was… the wildest thing I’ve seen. And I definitely want to see it again. - Well, okay then… - Astrid smirked, grabbed the sticky toy resting between her legs and threw it away through the window. - I’ll have to make a new one, slightly smaller. You know, just so you don’t feel neglected.
She leaned and placed a single kiss on his cock’s head, filling her mouth with his musky smell and taste.
- And what about Ruffnut? - Hiccup asked, stroking Astrid’s head while she caressed him. - I don’t have to prove anything to her. - she closed her mouth around his cock - And if she doesn’t believe me about you, she can go to Hel. - We could always invite her to observe it first-hand…
At once, Astrid turned her head up, her stern gaze petrifying Hiccup to his core.
- Just kidding, just kidding…
