Fandom Manifesto: Hello From The Hallowoods

(Originally written for the Fandomanifesto community on Pillowfort.)

Here's a (mostly spoiler-free) fandom manifesto for my favorite podcast, Hello From The Hallowoods. (Please try to keep the comments on this post spoiler-free as well.)

What is a fandom manifesto?

Inspired by ship manifestos, a fandom manifesto is an essay meant to introduce people to a fandom and promote it by explaining its appeal. It's a really fun tradition that I would love to keep going.

What is Hello From The Hallowoods?

Darker than your dreams, and farther North than you remember, there is a forest where life and death meet…

Hello From The Hallowoods is a queer horror podcast written and produced by William A. Wellman (they/them). This is the official description (taken from Spotify):

Come walk between the black pines! In this award-winning queer fiction podcast, a cosmic narrator follows the increasingly connected residents of the forest at the end of the world. It's a bittersweet story that explores queer identity, horror genre tropes, and finding hope in humanity's last moments.

It's set in a forest in northern Canada (the Hallowoods) in a post-apocalyptic world plagued by the black rains. The story follows the inhabitants of the Hallowoods—only some of whom are alive and human—as their lives become increasingly interconnected.

The podcast is narrated by Nikignik (he/they), also known as One Hundred Eyes in the Dark, an eldritch god who speaks directly to the listener via their nightmares. He begins to tell these stories because he's grieving his partner, another god called Marolmar (he/him), and humans were the last thing Marolmar created. Over time, Nikignik changes from a more passive narrator to an active character in the story.

There are a lot of characters, including but not limited to:

a nonbinary Frankenstein's creature piercing together their identity

a trans ghost dealing with his occultist father

an invisible man finding love at first sight

a genderfluid storm witch trying to prove themself

a retired rockstar and her punk butch lesbian daughter

a floral-suit-wearing demon on a celestial audit of earth

a starwolf on a mission to kill said demon

a killer robot skull and his pet dead seagull

an unkindness of ravens (yes, they are one character)

… and many, many more.

How scary is it?

It's a horror podcast, so there are some scary moments, but for me, the story feels very comforting and bittersweet as it explores horror tropes in a really unique way. According to the website:

It's been described as a show that helps you sleep easier, rather than one that keeps you up at night.

The story also explores themes like religious trauma, isolation, death, grief, and queerphobia, so please check the content warnings at the end of each episode description or at the start of each episode transcript. Transcripts are available on the website.

Why should I listen to it?

If the description above didn't convince you, here are some more reasons why you should listen to Hello From The Hallowoods.

There is so much content! I often complain about books being almost always standalones or duologies lately and TV seasons only being 8-10 episodes. If I really like something, I want to spend as much time with it as possible!

With HFTH, I don't have that problem because there is so much to listen to! There are currently (almost) 150 episodes available (plus a few live shows and bonus episodes), and new episodes come out every Wednesday. There are also weekly 100-word bonus stories on Patreon, and a tie-in novel called One Hundred Eyes In The Dark is currently in the works, so if you're looking for a story you can get really invested in (or if you're angry that all your favorite shows have been canceled), HFTH is perfect for you!

There are so many queer characters, disabled characters, and characters of color! If you're looking for a really diverse show, you will love HFTH. (I cried when I heard a character describe herself as aromantic.) But even aside from the diversity, the characters are just amazing. I mean, "What if Frankenstein's creature got love and support and was an absolute cinnamon roll?" is the perfect character concept. The villains are also really compelling and well-written.

It's a great introduction to podcasts, especially for book lovers, because it often feels like a very immersive audiobook! The voice acting and music are incredible, and even though there are a lot of characters, you can tell them apart very easily by their voices. If you like fantasy and horror books, this could be your introduction to the world of audio dramas.

That being said, if you have listened to other horror podcasts before, you will still love this one! It sometimes reminds me of Welcome To Night Vale, but the setting and characters are very unique, and the writing is so, so beautiful.

It's also a great introduction to horror! I used to avoid horror media because I get scared very easily, but horror podcasts (and especially Hello From The Hallowoods) made me discover how much I actually enjoy horror. HFTH explores horror tropes in such a kind, unique, and hopeful way, and as sappy as that sounds, listening to it makes the horrors of everyday life a little easier to deal with.

If you like Malevolent (another really great horror podcast), Harlan Guthrie has a guest role in HFTH! You might also recognize Mx. Wellman's voice from other podcasts like WOE.BEGONE, The Silt Verses or Old Gods of Appalachia.

The fandom is amazing! Everyone is so kind and talented, and we always have a lot of fun theorizing about what will happen next. There's even a fan-run Discord server!

Look headcannons | Creepypasta + mood boards!

This includes style and how I imagine their normal fits in this modern day. Also like race n whatnot.

Also, their everyday outfit is what they wear to kill their assignments! Their general aesthetics is like stuff they wear around the house or when they buy groceries or smthing. I’m sorry if I generally describe them the same way, but I promise how I vision them is different. Once I learn to draw it’s literally over for y’all.

Their everyday outfits are typically similar and nothing like their general aesthetic because of convenience reasons.

I don’t ever follow cannon so please don’t hate! Also don’t take the bodies too seriously! Y’all are beautiful just the way you are.

Jeff the killer

Face: triangle shaped face, slightly upturned nose with a slight curve from breaking his nose, hooded bright blue eyes, sharp jawline, thin lips. Unhealed but healing mouth scars, slightly discolored blotchy skin and unusually wide eyes. Wears guyliner. His mouth scars are like wide open btw. Super thin eyebrows tbh.

Physic: he’s got some boob, 5’11. Wide shoulders, a lil toned, but he’s got some squish. He’s got some MADDDD cake. His legs are hella muscular too.

General Aesthetic: lazy edge lord. Sweatpants, band tshirts, converse, slides. BLACK CROCS. Kinda pink sometimes tho, but that’s only cuz of Ben’s influence. He’s got a crazy collection of pajama pants tho (he has my kuromi pants from a secret Santa gift)

Everyday outfit: black ripped skinny jeans, black hoodie with a black turtleneck underneath. Wears some nice earrings tho and has an eyebrow piercing. Has a similar strap to EJ, but just on his thigh, it carries his knife and money. So yes he has a thigh strap.

Jane the Killer

Face: oval shaped face, bow shaped lips, high cheekbones, dark brown upturned eyes, upturned nose. Skin is a little patchy from the past burns, otherwise she is almost fully healed due to Slenders help. Has slight gashes on her cheeks but they’re mostly closed. Thicc arched eyebrows.

Physic: pear shaped, more booty than her chest. 5’8, seems a lot taller. A bit bony, long armed and long legged. A little toned, tho her arms especially, she’s got some DEFINEEED arms.

General Aesthetic: elegant lady going to the art museum. Wears a lot of longer pleated skirts (either knee length or longer), long silk dresses, heels, occasional converse. Shirts are form fitting and typically elegant or professional. Loves silk, satin fabrics and the occasional velvet.

Everyday outfit: a black sleeveless turtleneck with black flared pants and black fingerless gloves. When it gets really cold she wears a dark red coat with grey fur on the lining. Has a thigh strap and a chest strap to carry her weapons.

Ben Drowned

Face: heart shaped face, male button nose, small lips, completely black eyes with blood running down them. Pale skin and hella sharp cheekbones. Sharp ass jaw too.

Physic: 5’9. Broad shoulders, a little scrawny. Defined chest and shoulders, his stomach hella toned, he doesn’t got much cake but a barely adequate one. No boobs for this guy either. No honka honka for him :(

General Aesthetic: a lil punk and a lil basic. Like he wears a lot of plaid and also a lot of baggy band tshirts, so not really but sort of. He’s got the emo hair, he wears green plaid skinny jeans with a graphic tshirt and black combat boots a lot. Or converse. He’s got a lot of facial piercings too. So he’s just barely punk. He’s getting there tho.

Everyday outfit: a light green baggy tunic that kinda has a deep V 😏 and some black baggy pants that the tunic is tucked into. His shoes are black combat boots. Across his waist he wears a brown leather belt that has a small compartment on his hip where he can put his shit in.

Clockwork

Face: downturned lips, tan skin, a clock for an eye. Her other eye is monoloid shaped tho and brown. Hair is dark brown and messy straight. Button nose definitely.

Physic: pretty boxy and muscular. 5’11. She doesn’t have much boob or butt since she’s so muscular. There is a slight contrast between her chest and her stomach, but not that much. She’s defined and toned.

General Aesthetic: it switches everyday. Sometimes she’s pretty tomboy and other times she’s 2000 emo. She wears converse, short shorts, low waisted pants that have the bedazzled butt pockets, cropped tshirts and tank tops. So maybe 2000s party girl?

Everyday outfit: black zip up hoodie with fur lining the neck, lowrise dark blue bootcut jeans, dark red tank top. Brown ankle boots.

Ticci Toby

Face: male version of a button nose, diamond shaped face, bow shaped lips, multiple face piercings (snakebites, eyebrow piercing), slight stache on his chin and above his mouth (he shaves). Fluffy brown hair. The gash on his mouth is basically healed. Very very pale skin, pretty hazel eyes u could get lost in forever. Average brown eyebrows.

Physic: almost concerningly skinny, like he just barely makes the mark of being healthy. It’s cause he forgets to eat. 6’1. His shoulders are broad but he’s like a triangle if anything. Not much cake :(

General Aesthetic: boring white boy. Nowadays he only wears turtlenecks and tank tops with some boring ass pants. Tho they are tight on him 😏 he left behind his old hoodie habit. He picked up motorcycling gloves and vans.

Everyday outfit: a black, long sleeved, form fitted turtleneck with a black back harness for his axe’s. Black skinny jeans and converse for convenience. He still wears his goggles and face mask!

Judge Angels

Face: triangle shaped face, her chin has a prominent point. Almond shaped black eyes, heart shaped lips. Olive toned skin, pretty tan. Has a prominent crack on her left canine tooth. Upturned nose, crooked smile. Blond straight hair that greatly contrasts her skin. Blond short eyebrows.

Physic: short and petite, 5’2. Lean, doesn’t really have much muscle, or at least doesn’t look it. Pretty flat chested and a normal ass. She has calves of steal tho.

General Aesthetic: white and messy, likes baggier clothing and more trashy punk looks. Like she wears Tripp pants, oversized tshirts, big hoodies. She doesn’t really wear makeup except for some shittily done eyeliner. Her hair is still blond but now it has the occasional black streak.

Everyday outfit: one of those baggy tops that have the cuts down the sides yk what I’m talking about? Anyways it’s white with a bunch of charcoal on it that she stole from Bloody painter. For bottoms she wears black knee high combat boots and a pair of black, low waisted, wide leg shorts. Obviously under the shirt she has a sports bra. She also wears fishnet gloves.

Puppeteer

Face: Grecian nose, dark gray skin, almond shaped yellow eyes, a square shaped face, medium lips. I think his teeth are hella white tbh but he’s definitely got fangs of some sort. Thicc black brows.

Physic: pretty boxy, like he’s lean n all, but he is kinda straight up and down. Average cake, average waist, average muscle and tone. He’s still hawt tho, his hands 😩 6’3

General Aesthetic: helluva boss reject. Wears trench coats and boots and skinny jeans, business pants. The occasional hoodie. Doesn’t wear a beanie anymore. Or converse. Tho his wardrobe has lots of skulls. He kinda does a 360 with his wardrobe, going for more of an old school pirate vibe.

Everyday outfit: wears a long black trench coat that clips in the middle of his waist, black skinny pants, below the knee black boots, black button up (the last three buttons unbuttoned) are underneath his trench coat.

Nurse Ann

Face: diamond shaped face, button nose, mid/weaker jawline, thiccer lips, not a prominent cupids bow. Definitely pale/Greyish skin tone. Her hair is brown and is like boob length, also somewhat wavy.

Physic: curvy, kind of apple/pear shaped. She’s definitely well endowed with the bewbs and butt, has a more rounded stomach too, has thicc thighs and calves as well. 5’4.

General Aesthetic: fantasia 2000 princess type beat. I feel like she’s a huge fan of midnight blue and fantasy type of outfits. She loves dresses of any length with frill, lace and intricate designs. She loves puffy/billowed sleeves and mostly wears flats or boot heels. She’s also particular about silver star/moon designs.

Everyday outfit: I don’t think her outfit changed at all tbh, I think she still wears the black nurse costume and hat, tho I do think she’s added more weapons in her collection. I think she’s started focusing on needles and chemical injecting, tho she still uses her iconic chainsaw.

Bloody Painter

Face: oval shaped face, thin lips, bright blue almond shaped eyes, Grecian nose, a lil tan ngl, black messy hair (idk how to describe his haircut tho, it’s a lil long, straight and fluffy??)

Physic: kind of in the average or boney ratio. He has bony hands and forearms but aside from that he’s got medium sized shoulders and a slightly smaller waist. Ngl I feel like he does have some random curve at the bottom so some honka cake, but not much. 5’11

General Aesthetic: painter in despair. I think he likes Jean jackets, he’s like the male version of arthoe. He likes black/blue jeans, kinda looks like he came from the outsiders, wears baggy leather jackets too. Mostly sticks with tshirts with random bull on it. Also always has a brown satchel with him.

Everyday outfit: I feel like black cargo pants, black turtleneck and a black chest harness, probably combat boots too. On his chest he still has the smiley pin, but aside from that, for his assignments he goes pretty neutral and just for convenience. EJ totally helped him pick out his outfit too his first assignment.

Rouge

Face: square shaped face, upturned nose, chubby cheeks, vintage shaped lips?? Idk how to describe it. I feel like her hair is a messy black Bob now, but like pretty messy I mean it. Kinda tan. Definitely has freckles.

Physic: 5’7, pretty boxy. The best I can describe her is like Audrey Hepburn built. Idk why I feel like her and A.H are so similar. She’s boney and relatively small like that.

General Aesthetic: a little vintage sometimes, like she switches decades a lot. She wears fashion trends from the 1950s to modern day, both feminine and masculine styles. So she wears dresses, miniskirts, jeans, colored turtlenecks. Really her closet is very alive. She has stolen from her assignments hella tho ngl.

Everyday outfit: a black miniskirt with a tighter grey turtleneck, red tights, black calf length boots. When it’s cold she has a cropped jacket with a fuzzy hood and insides.

Masky

Face: oval shaped face, tan skin, dark brown hair (short and messy,) dark brown eyes, uhhh mid-somewhat sharp jawline, straight nose.

Physic: strong, average short 5’9. Builds more bulk, has strong arms and shoulders but a smaller waist, he’s got some MADD V-line. He’s got a nice smackable amount of cake.

General Aesthetic: 😏😏😏. He wears flannels, darker colored skinny jeans, SOMETIMES THO he wears 70’s pants that are like right around the hips and like highwaisted and whatnot with a sleeveless cropped tshirt. He’s oddly vintage with stuff like that, but in a rock singer type of way. He only just started getting into this tho.

Everyday outfit: dark blue skinny jeans, black tshirt, tan jacket that has a LOTTA compartments.

Laughing Jill

Face: button nose, oval shaped face, high cheekbones, an average (a lil weak) jawline, pale skin, black irises. Thinner lips. Thin slightly arched eyebrows.

Physic: southern mommy. SORRY. 6’2 tho Bc shes mythical. I think she’s a wide hourglass too?? Like she is big chested and she def has a gyatt, she’s got tummy. She isn’t really defined at all.

General Aesthetic: Harley Quinn wannabe. Just likes the mix matches jumpsuit idea. Like she loves mixing and matching contrasting colors and especially black and white. She mixes in some lavender too. Is always wearing the most dangly earrings too.

Everyday outfit: an above the knee length skirt with a black petty coat underneath, a long sleeveless vest that goes to her mid calf and buttons together under her boobs. Her shirt is a plain white button up with puffy sleeves. For shoes she wears black heeled boots. Her hair is in a curly bun with a tiny off center hat.

Hoodie

Face: Roman nose, not that pale, diamond shaped face, pretty light brown eyes. Pretty strong jawline. Short black hair (dyed recently)

Physic: muscular, 6’2. Hes beefy. Like he’s got boob muscle, ass muscle. HE IS SCARRRY. Think like a smaller Miguel O’Hara almost. He’s less beefy than that, but like yk still beefy.

General Aesthetic: tbh think he went for a goth/alt vibe. He mixes feminine and masculine occasionally. Wears like long skirts sometimes, like a kilt almost?? Wears the fishnet tights as shirts, has multiple Spencer’s belts and necklaces.

Everyday outfit: black fishnet top with a black fitted tshirt over it, black baggy pants. Multiple finger rings. Multiple belts and waist bands.

Sally Williams

Face: circle shaped face, slightly downturned nose, wide green eyes. Small lips, lil bit of a chubby face. She does not eternally bleed from the head. Her hair is long and curly past her shoulders. She’s pretty dark.

Physic: a normal, average weighted 8 yr. 4’8.

General Aesthetic: she likes more vintage, boxy styled dresses from the twentieth century, like 1960s European box dresses inspired by Iggy and kids dresses from the 20s. She actually really likes the vintage youth outfits Bc of Shirley Temple. She LOVES Shirley Temple.

Everyday outfit: a pink and white designed dress that pleats at the bottom. Black Mary janes and white socks. She carries a small white clutch that slings across her torso. Her hair is in a long braid.

Laughing Jack

Face: pale as a mf, triangle shaped face, high cheek bones, cone nose, black hooded shaped eyes. Sharp ass jawline. Small forehead. Hair is shorter and more curly.

Physic: toned as an mf but SCRAWNY, like he’s dangly and flexible. It’s scary and arousing. He has no cake tho, no boobs either. He’s very lightly defined but that is IT. 6’9

General Aesthetic: likes the David Bowie Jareth Labyrinth aesthetic, kind of similar to EJ, but not really. He just also really likes poets shirts and vests. He loves dressing sort of Royal or regal. HE LOVES to wear baggy button ups but he NEVER buttons them up all the way 😏

Everyday outfit: I feel like his main outfit hasn’t changed much, the only thing I see him changing is the wraps around his waist possibly changing to a corset instead for his convenience.

(I’d like to remind that Lazari doesn’t have assignments as she is not a pasta, so her everyday wear is less convenient.)

Lazari

Face: tan, dark brown straight hair (occasionally pink), square shaped face, Roman nose, bow shaped mouth, thicc brown brows.

Physic: depends on her age she changes physically. But she’s probably like average in all ages, just less lean and a little chubbier. Height ranges from 4’11 to 5’8

General Aesthetic: colorful and a little childish. She wears overalls and paints on her pants a lot. Think of her like 2019 in a nutshell. She wears mom jeans and Angel tops and bucket hats. Hates crocs tho. All of her jeans have some 90s cartoon character painted on them.

Everyday outfit: a black Spider-Man tshirt with black overalls cuffed at the bottom. Red converse, fun silly socks, her hair in a long braid.

Jason the Toymaker

Face: diamond shaped face, pale, Roman nose, shoulder length bright red hair. Bright green eyes. Kinda got that Jareth haircut. Sharp ass jawline. Thin nicely shaped eyebrows. The makeup does not come off.

Physic: triangle. Slutty man waist. Not that toned tbh but he has enough. HES GOT SOME NICEE BONEY HANDS. His arms have decent strength and buff ness, but it’s rlly not that obvious. 6’8

General Aesthetic: old clowncore ig. Or like fantasy 1800s boyfriend aesthetic. He wears mostly beige or rained colors tbh and then a dash of black and red. Otherwise he makes up his outfits in abstract shapes and styles.

Everyday outfit: his usual tbh, bro has not changed much.

Zero

Face: square shaped face, wide eyes, no cupids bow shaped lips. Completely black eyes. Completely white hair that goes just past her jaw. Messy hair. Has stitches on the side of her mouth.

Physic: broad shoulders, smaller breasted, not much of a different with her waist. Does have low hips, like a long torso with shorter legs. 5’9

General Aesthetic: crust punk. Wears shit that is torn up and dirty. Lots of DIY and ripped up tights. Low rise black skinny jeans. And cropped shirts that go like just under the boob.

Everyday outfit: cropped black ripped jacket, plain black tshirt and lowrise shitty ripped skinny jeans and black combat boots. Under her ripped jeans is her striped ripped stockings.

Homicidal Liu

Face: slightly upturned nose, still has the stitches on his face, green eyes. Lighter brown neck length hair. Kinda has like a slight wolfcut tbh. A lil tan.

Physic:I feel like he’s a lil buff. Like 5’9-5’10. Not as buff as Jeff. Has some thiccness tho mostly in his shoulders tho so he’s more toned than Jeff.

General Aesthetic: spider noir energy. He loves trench coats and business pants. No matter what he’s always wearing black gloves. He’s always wearing business shoes too.

Everyday outfit: black turtleneck and black trench coat with black pants and black knee boots. He has patches on his coat with holes in it, but they’ve been patched up with his striped scarf, same with his pants. His main fit is patched together with his old scarf.

Nina the Killer

Face: triangle shaped face, olive skin tone, button nose. Curly black hair (often straightened) with purple and pink streaks, thicc upturned lips. Her scar is healed, but still very open like Jeff’s. Her eye situation depends on her state of mind.

Physic: 5’4, pretty skinny and toned. Mostly proportionate. Aight sized boobs and butt, generally just dainty idk. Built like the girl from house of 1000 corpses.

General Aesthetic: risqué Monique Chabot in post war France. She wears short skirts, only cropped tshirts and small dresses. She does not get cold at all omg. A lot of times she’ll wear heals or platforms. Never flats or converse tho anymore.

Everyday outfit: platformed knee high boots, black tights with black thigh highs overtop, a black and pink plaid miniskirt, a black crop top that’s a random band tee. A fluffy cropped black jacket that’s zipped up halfway, for style purposes. Fluffy earmuffs if it gets cold and her hair in an emo high ponytail.

Candypop

Face: oval shaped face, hella pale, Grecian nose, heart shaped lips tbh, almond shaped purple eyes. His hair is still the long pretty blue color as always, always up in a ponytail.

Physic: built exactly like LJ but more meaty, like he’s got more toning on his thighs and legs and stomach. Like he looks a lot healthier than LJ for sure. His outfit definitely makes his muscle pop a lot too 😏 6’6

General Aesthetic: he wants to be Ramona flowers, but he literally can’t Bc he can never find men clothes that is like hers.

Everyday outfit: tbh, his outfit has NOT changed like at all otherwise in color scheme. When his hair was a light green, his outfit became more warmer toned b4 he grew out of that phase and went back to his OG look.

Kate The Chaser

Face: square shaped face, round white eyes, black messy hair just barely past the shoulders, small lips, high cheekbones, Roman nose. No brows, they are drawn on.

Physic: a little thicc, broad shoulders and broad hips. I’d say a wide hourglass figure, but she’s like hella muscular. She has a proportionate amount of ass. 5’6

General Aesthetic: she wants to look like Siouxie, very 80s goth. Allison from the breakfast club energy. She loves wearing long skirts with big sweaters and doing the beehive hair. She loves scarves too and has a hella collection.

Everyday outfit: black wide legged jeans with a billowy maroon sweater and black combat boots. Sometimes she’ll add one of those long black detective jackets, but that’s off missions.

Face: grey skin, Grecian nose, rectangle shaped face, high cheekbones, medium sized lips. Split tongue. Almond shaped black eyes. His hair is dark brown and somewhat long and wavy/curly. Medium thicc arched brows.

Physic: 6’7 and very strong. He’s not ripped like bulging, but he is definitely defined. He’s got ass and thighs, his waist isn’t as small as Dr Smileys, but there’s still a medium difference between his shoulders vs his waist.

General Aesthetic: he wants to be cottage core so bad, like the poets shirt and tunics. He does wear cream colored tunics and billowy pants. Tho sometimes on special occasions he dresses like a basic bitch. He’ll get out the tight business pants and black button up.

Everyday outfit: a black button up, black jeans and navy blue converse. He wears one of those chest strap things tho that carries his scalpel and other weapons. He wears a black leather jacket too <3

Face: pale, dark red eyes, tiny pupils. Shoulder length, fluffy black hair. Diamond shaped face, Roman nose, thin lips. Defined jaw. Johnnie Gilbert looking guy. Thin arched brows.

Physic: lean and tall. He’s got broad shoulders and an itty bitty waist fr. He’s bony af tho (except for the thighs,) he’s got NO cake. No junk in the trunk for him. 6’1

General Aesthetic: professional emo/dark academia. He’s ALWAYS wearing black turtleneck and dress pants. He always has a red satchel too.

Everyday outfit: he still wears his black medical mask and white doctors coat, underneath that though he wears a black short sleeved turtleneck, so his arms are out when he’s not wearing his coat 😏 his pants are just basic dress pants tho. Aside from the shirt, he wears basically the same thing he always has.

venus if she was awesome

speedpaint and more thoughts under the cut

venus has always been one of my favorite characters, though i feel her design is pretty underwhelming with a lot of wasted potential. this is kind of a redesign, kind of my own personal headcannon, and kind of how i imagined venus in my head as a kid.

this is supposed to be my version of g1 venus, more similar in facial features and keeping the straight hair. i absolutely love her new hair and face in g3 but im hesitant to call the new outfit an improvement. both g1s outfit and g3s outfit are bad in their own ways. i dont want it to seem like im shitting on the new design. again i think the face sculpts, hair, and body types of g3 are so awesome. its great to see more diversity being included in the designs. i just decided to go with g1 venuses look because thats the venus i grew up with

i definitely took some inspiration from g3s outfit for this design. i like the idea of it but the execution is just not great, not to say her original outfit is any better. i feel like out of all of tge original monsters she was the one with the most waisted potential. i love her personality and the abilities she has but the way she was styled has always bothered me.

in the movies shes described as “eco-punk” which is SUCH a cool style to go with a plant monster character. i just feel like the “punk” in “eco-punk” was never really represented in her outfits. i personally love punk music and clothing; ive been an active member in my local diy scene for many years and i love seeing all the outfits people put together.

i thought i would give her an outfit that shows off a couple of my personal favorite staples of punk style. big chunky leather boots with lots of straps and buckles. kept the shoe mouths from the original because they cool as hell. lots of leather, studs, spikes. i gave her denim cutoff shorts inspired by her gen 3 outfit, same with the torn black top. punk style has a big focus on comfort, practicality, and making things yourself. i imagine she cut a pair of old pants into shorts, roughly cut her “undead kennedys”band shirt tank into a crop top, and probably repurposed the remaining fabric. i also totally didnt draw this whole thing as an excuse to use that pun. i included asymmetrical leg accessories, with one fishnet stocking and one torn up sock. i also feel like she repurposed these, continuing to wear her old torn up socks instead of just throwing them out. i gave her a big chunky studded belt matching one of her cuffs with a recycling symbol belt buckle. i feel like it communicates an important aspect of her personality just at a glance, plus i just love big belt buckles. lastly i added piercings because 1. theyre cool and 2. i for some reason remembered her having an eyebrow piercing but i guess she never had one.

i mostly kept her body and hair the same. changed her ears and hair color slightly but thats just personal preference. i decided to make the vines on her body look more like tattoos instead of being 3d. i imagine she can make them grow into real vines, but when shes not using her powers theyre just flat against her skin. gave her a facial expression that made her look a little more unhinged. she might only do things for the good of the earth but she can still mind control people at will.

i wish i leaned a little bit more into the plant theming but im overall still super happy with how this came out. maybe ill made more monster high redesigns in the future

Weirdboygirl Percy headcanons

(But it's almost entierly me just sharing my friends' because i'm a sap who wants them to be appreciated /lh)

When i say 'weirdboygirl',i mean it-Percy is transfem bigender and autistic with no masking ability based off canon subtext that borderlines on straight up text.He's also afrolatina/monoracial black dominican for the same reason and he's mostly femme but has a decent amount of masc thrown in there for gender fuckery and he's crustpunk with pastel/kidcore elements thrown in

He's a huge gamer who's got his own low cost setup and only dosen't do Lets Plays even though he has a vlog channel because with how he is that's setting himself up for getting viral meme'd

He thinks adult only shows and movies are absolute ass due to being too dark so he watches pg ones only including pre-schooler ones(Bluey is his favorite obviously)and he has no shame in it since he's not a freak about it

She listens to obscure podcasts and rambles about them and she's a part time artist thanks to her and Rachel being queerplatonic besties but she dosen't do grand materpieces and just draws weird shit and same for crafts

Her favorite musicians are nostalgic ex-weirdkid ones like My Chemical Romance and All Time Low and The Cheetah Girls and then it's shit like Everybody's Worried about Owen and The Cure and Meet Me @ The Altar and Metallica and a bunch of transfem artists and general genres they love are Lo-Fi Beats,Breakcore and Punk Rock

Her special interests are blue,video games,kidcore,cats and anarchy.Blue is not Percy's lifestyle but Percy's way of life,she plays only free games and uses an emulator for the rest,kidcore is a huge coping mechanism from her extremely brutal childhood,she employs a lot cat based things in their daily life and even naturally acts like a cat sometimes including a meowing vocal stim and she goes full force in Tales of Dead Seas,a Hoo one year later sequel that's about Percy dismantleing the greco-roman mythos world system starting with killing Zeus and things go up hill for everybody who's not a dickbag from there and this includes Percy gaining new powers even pre-deicide but actually having mentors this time and she actively helps out with activism in addition to all her direct action across all 5 books of her last official story

The only sea related things they love are because Sally does so she raised them in them all the time and they've got mixed feelings on them post claiming because of how awful Poseidon is but they very slowly reclaim it for themselves and the process is given big boost when their egg cracks as they use mermaid/seapunk aesthetics for presentation and their personality a little too and it gives them gender euphoria

They refuse to drink energy drinks that aren't blue colored so they have a whole stash of them and junk food too with a threatning note attached to it,their go to store is unironically Claire's and they made sure to beat the Hot Topic allegations by loud and proud announcing how much they hate them for being sellouts and fakeout freaks and they're neither a skater boy nor a surfer dude because ewww but a guitarist and a multitask helper at the Familia Jackson Beach Shack

He's also Nico and Hazel's eldest sibling figure and pseudo-dad that got them away from Hades forever and Sally legally adopted them so they all live together in the mortal world and stick together as a trio too in the mythos world.He's their caregiver but also their best friend and radicalized them and taught them how to be punks,Nico choosing tradgoth and Hazel pastel goth.Their relathionship is extremely intimate and equally silly but that dosen't mean they never had problems to unpack and fix-Siblings aren't perfect but real siblings are the ones who try to be anyway and don't expect eternal forgiveness regardless.That's what makes us siblings,not JUST blood

And they healed his inner child a lot just by hanging out with him and loving him and letting him take full responsibility in their best friendship and on the other end there's nobody who's helped Nico and Hazel heal and be stronger and be themselves like Percy has.They're eachother's whole world and multiverse and rubbed off on eachother significantly(Nico and Percy's love for video games,Percy and Hazel's artistry,Hazel and Nico's taste in food,all three of their love for kiddy things)and Percy helps Hazel with girls

He was Warrior Cats kid and gets back into it as an adult and loves it even more and yes,he roleplayed it his classmates during recess yet they pretended they hadn't and mocked and animalized him for years because how long his hyperfixation it is lasted and that's why he gave it up in his teenage years but returned to it and reclaimed the catlike behavior it gave him as autistic swag

Percy's five love languages:Humor,comfort,justice,unrestrained fun and diy'd gifts.All giving and recieving and none strictly platonic or romantic,Love is stored in the Percy

She knows how to diy so many things it's a running gag and includes things that don't exist,her biggest comfort characters are:Cookie Monster,Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy(she's a huge Flutterdash stan so she refuses to seperate them),Brandy's Cinderella,Shego,Cookie Nessa and Marina from Nintendo,Yang Xiao Long,Katara,Sonic The Hedgehog,Amy Rose and the Adventure Time Cast as a whole and her type is other autistic afrolatinos/afrolatinas who're pastel punk to her crustpunk

He (jokingly) kins Hobbie Brown and Gwen Stacy and looks like she could be Hobie's older brother

She acts and talks in ways people find offputting and strange but by now she's learned to stop being ashamed and happily embraced that she'll never be normal but that that dosen't mean she's not loved dearly and by so many people and realized that's what she truly wanted from the start instead of not being different from everyone else.Because she's the most awesome as all fuck person ever

The lineup is Jason Todd as Red Hood,Eddie Bloomberg as Red Devil,Rose Wilson as Ravager and eventually Willow,Summer Kent as Ignite,Pepper Jackson as Star Sapphire,Artemis Grace of Bana-Mightdall simply as 'Artemis',Kyle Rayner as Green Lantern,Thaddeus Thawne as Inertia and Mathew Wayne as Batboy

The canon ships vary but usually it's either Jason and Summer as the token couple or all the adult members as a polycule

The simply put dynamic is a very weird found family with Mathew as the little brother and Thaddeus as the son(The former is very enthusiastic about his position,the latter pretends to hate it)

Mostly made up of poc:Jason and Summer are afro-dominican,Rose is half cambodian,Artemis is egyptian,Kyle is mestizo-mexican and Thaddeus is part black.Eddie,Pepper and Mathew are the only white members

They traveled around between places to stay for a while until Jason uncovered an old backup mansion of Bruce's that still had the scientifically equipped running water and functioning power(Kyle:Rich people are INSANE Eddie:But useful!!)and this became their base and home.Summer calls it 'The Fortress' for obvious reasons

It started off as just Jason,Eddie and Rose but then Summer joined and they're something of a 'Dark Core Four'(Their counterparts being Tim,Bart,Cassie and Kon respectively).Pepper became a member because of becoming best friends with Summer and his crush on him and is essentially their Greta equivalent

Almost all trans and autistic!!Pepper is the token allistic and Mathew is the token cis

Jason originally only let Mathew join because he was useful but now them and Duke are eachother's favorite brothers!!

After/During Rhato,Summer and Mathew went from regular pastel and nerd to pastel punk and goth nerd

Summer is the chef for everyone and they go crazy for his cooking and pay him back by always trying to bring him back some food when they go out

Artemis casually drags her teammates around and at this point Jason's the only complainer and Thaddeus the biggest (silent) enjoyer

A good amount of Kyle's best drawings are hung up on the walls of The Fortress and he's smug like an elementary schooler over it

Rose loves teasing and pranking the others minus Artemis because they have too much mutual respect going on

Eddie is the most 'ideally heroic' despite being a literal demon

Artemis and Summer are workout buddies and he convinced her to get matching workout clothes(hers are black and red with hints of gold,his are blue and pink with hints of white)

Jason was briefly a Star Sapphire and Pepper comically complained about him 'stealing her thing'.Summer was also a Black Lantern for a few days and Mathew once borrowed Kyle's ring for a mission

Their series lasted 92 issues irl and three years in-universe

So I wrote a bit for that gang boss!Jou and defense attorney!Kaiba idea. Originally, I had wanted to start it in media res with them already in a relationship, but as soon as I sat down at the keyboard, I spat out a first (re-)meeting and backstory.

Might keep poking at it but not sure what I have here besides some vibes.

"Who are you?" the man asked, tonguing the inside of his cheek and puffing out the darkening bruise marring his skin.

A sharp golden gaze swept up and down the length of Seto's body. While it was mostly critical and cautious, a note of appreciation bled through, and if he had to guess, it wasn't in admiration for his stylishly fitted suit. Judging by the loud crimson blazer and tartan plaid slacks, Seto's choice of a classic black suit was a far-cry from his personal preferences.

People dressed for the job they wanted. For Seto, it was the part of a respectable attorney. The other man screamed punk, well, he might've been a punk ten or more years earlier. No, Seto's client was obviously a mid-tier sub-lieutenant with punks under his direction to do his dirty work for him.

Seto was no stranger to clients like this. And most importantly, he wasn't a stranger to this man specifically.

While the appearance—strong square jaw, atrociously bleached hair, and flashy ear piercings—may have changed in the intervening decades, his name had not. Unlike Seto, Jounouchi Katsuya never escaped the orphanage before he aged out. Based on his current situation, it wasn't difficult to surmised what kind of life he led after he finally left that dreadful place.

If not for that name, Seto wouldn't have recognized his once childhood friend. As Jounouchi currently peered at him without a spark of recognition.

But that was a matter to address later. Or maybe never.

"Your lawyer," Seto answered brusquely. "Yoshimori-san sent me."

Breaking eye contact, the blond man stuck a pinky into his ear, reclining and crossing his legs. He looked more like he was lounging at a club than being held for police interrogation. "Good old Yoshimori, ya can always count on him to have yer back."

"Then keep your mouth shut so I can get you out of here," he growled.

His client threw up both hands in capitulation, flashing a surprisingly dazzling grin, split lip and bloodstained teeth and all. "You're the boss."

Seto addressed the detective lingering by the door, as if he was guarding it. "As I understand it, the other party doesn't wish to pursue charges. Not to mention, he's admitted to instigating the fight. It was a misunderstanding. You have no reason to hold Jounouchi-san any longer."

The officer, Sergeant Honda Hiroto as he previously introduced himself, hemmed and hawed. "We're still verifying Mega's liquor and business license."

"Which is Community Safety Bureau," Seto countered. "That shouldn't concern CIB."

He knew how the game was played, though. OCCB and CIB had to make regular shows of force to placate their superiors, which meant scheduled sweeps through the clubs and bars in the nightlife district, seeing what they could catch in their wide trawling nets. Last night's catch included his rambunctious client. But after nearly 10 hours, the police had yet to charge him and they made minimal efforts to keep Seto from seeing him.

In other words, they had nothing and were just trying to run out clock on 48 hours.

"Yeah, I'm just an honest businessman," Jounouchi slumped forward to interject. "And that asshole totally started it. He couldn't keep his hands to himself and was hassling the girls. I wasn't about to let him—"

Seto silenced him with a sharp glower. Jounouchi shut his mouth with an audible click before miming a zipper closing over his lips.

"As Mega's manager, Jounouchi-san has a responsibility for the safety of his staff. If anything, this was an act of self-defense. But if you insist on charging him with assault, I expect a similar charge levied against the other party," Seto said before fishing his phone out of his pocket. "Head Prosecutor Mitsurugi might have something to say to that effect."

As much as Seto disliked name-dropping the prick—not to mention the disgruntled phone call he was bound to receive later, it lit a fire under the cop's ass. But it still took almost an hour to process Jounouchi's release, more dragging feet to mainly inconvenience the gangster. And while billable hours were always appreciated, Seto simply wanted to go home and collapse into bed, sleep a dreamless slumber. Going straight from a two-day depo to handling a new troublesome client wore even him thin.

By the time they left the building, the sun vanished beneath the horizon once more.

"So, do I gotta pay you or what?" asked Jounouchi, rocking back and forth on the ball and heel of his feet. There was a touch of self-consciousness to the action that had been absent inside the police building.

In comparison, Seto's posture remained unnaturally stiff. "It'll be billed to Yoshimori-san's account."

"Aw cool. I mean I'm good for it even if he wasn't. Just ain't got the cash on me at this second." Jounouchi said quickly. He stared at Seto's face for several long seconds, before looking away, jamming his hands into his blazer pockets, and re-emerging with a carton of smokes and a lighter.

"You'll want to do that somewhere else. Unless you want Domino's finest to cart you right back inside," cautioned Seto.

"You're right. Guess that's why you make 'em big bucks." With the unlit cigarette already pinched between his teeth, his eyes crinkled with laughter.

Seto couldn't say what force compelled him to follow the other man. Not nostalgia. Not really. He didn't know this Jounouchi. The boy from his memory sported dark black hair, shaggy and often falling over his brown eyes. At twelve, he'd been gangly, taller than Seto. Now Seto, who didn't hit his growth spurt until his late teens, loomed over him, and Jounouchi had filled out, especially around the shoulders. No wonder Jounouchi didn't recognize him.

Curiosity, perhaps.

Or maybe a search for closure. Then he could bury those memories after tonight.

They rounded the corner, where they found a designated smoking spot. Jounouchi sagged against a wall and flicked his lighter to life, then paused. The small dancing flame illuminated his face, glinted off his gold piercings and chain jewelry, alit his hair with orange.

"Did you want one?" he asked, curiosity and something else shining from deep in his eyes.

Seto could bid him a good night here. He did his job. That was the only reason for his presence. Instead, he reached into his inner jacket pocket and produced a slim black electronic cigarette. "No thanks. I have my own."

Jounouchi made a faint huffing noise. "Mr. Fancy Pants here."

The fire seared the cigarette's tip and ignited a red cherry. In contrast, Seto's e-cig emitted a calming blue light. They puffed withing seconds of each other, smoke streaming out of their mouths and noses only to twine together and ascend into the darkening night sky. For several moments, there was no conversation. Merely sharing the same space as they each partook of their vice.

Unsurprisingly, Jounouchi broke the silence first. He was quick to get antsy even as a child. But there was a kind of mindfulness and purpose of action that Seto hadn't seen in their youth.

"Are ya sure we haven't met before? You seem familiar." Jounouchi tilted his head as he considered Seto at length. After another beat, a cocksure smile spread across his lips. "Maybe you've been to Mega before. But I'm pretty sure I would've bought you a drink in that case."

Seto coughed. And it wasn't due to the smoke suddenly pooling in his lungs. "No. I've never been."

Jounouchi's face lit up. "You should come by sometime! Like tonight. Bet you could use a good time after a long day of hanging around all them stuffy lawyers."

"Need I remind you that I'm a 'stuffy lawyer' too?" Seto asked stiffly.

Laughter peeled out of Jounouchi. He lurched forward and strung a muscled arm around Seto's shoulders. His warm breath washed over Seto's ear as he spoke in a hushed suggestive tone. "Aww, you're too cute to be walking around with a stick up yer ass unless... I'm sure we can take that to a love hotel."

Heat swept through Seto like a wildfire. It dried his mouth. His mind blanked. Jounouchi was flirting with him. Trying to pick him up with zero regard to who Seto was—a stranger, a lawyer who hauled his ass out of the police station not minutes ago, his childhood friend he hadn't seen in decades and apparently forgot about.

His first kiss, an innocent one they snuck under a shadowed canopy when they were thirteen. Faster than lightning and never to be repeated again. But it lived on in Seto's memory, a shimmering spot in an otherwise bleak childhood.

For an instant, he considered letting that invitation play its course. Whether it ended with a drink at the club that Jounouchi now managed or them tangled between each other's sweaty limbs and the hotel sheets. Criminal record or not, and there was decidedly one, Jounouchi had grown into a devilishly handsome man. His touch already set Seto aflame. And it felt like forever since Seto had that chance to indulge with a like-minded individual.

His profession was a painfully conservative one. Even if there were those willing to get into bed with the mob.

So why not actually get into bed with the mob?

A roll in the hay. A fun romp for everyone involved. No strings attached. No muss, no fuss.

Slowly, Seto exhaled. He powered off his e-cig and slipped free of Jounouchi's arm. "Have a good evening, Jounouchi-san. Should you need legal counsel in the future, you can get in contact with Kaiba and Ishida."

He didn't bother leaving a business card. Instead, he swiftly cut across the lot toward his car.

"Don't be like that. You could at least give me a ride!"

"I don't think we're headed in the same direction. It's easy to catch a taxi in this area." He said without looking back.

Jounouchi gave chase, though. "Ain't got cash. Think they nicked my spare change."

His footsteps quickened. "Then file a complaint at the station."

"Hey, bro—"

"Don't call me—"

"Seto!"

Seto stopped in his tracks before pivoting sharply. "What did you say?"

"Seto. That's your name, right?"

Jounouchi slowed to a stop, huffing as he bent over and braced his knees. This time, the smile he flashed was more dopey. It was almost as fond as yesteryears.

But they were both changed. Grown. Too many lost years stood between them now.

Seto's mouth dried a second time. "I thought you'd forgotten."

As Jounouchi straightened, he dropped his cigarette and stamped it out beneath his heel. Seto remained glued to his spot as Jounouchi closed the distance again. Yet he startled when a warm, calloused palm cradled his cheek.

And he was struck by the strangeness of peering down at Jounouchi's face when the reverse had been true last time.

"Forget those gorgeous blue eyes? Never," muttered Jounouchi. He stood so close that Seto could smell the tar on his breath.

Despite the tender gesture and words, annoyance crested in a wave. It bled straight into his speech. "So was all that before your idea of a sick joke?"

"Nah, I meant it. I mean, I was totally trying to pick you up. And you seemed familiar. Then it hit me when you walked away. I... I can't believe it's really you. Why didn't you say something earlier?"

Seto bit his bottom lip. Jounouchi's eyes darkened, but not from want or arousal. A black cloud swept over his face. His hand fell away like a rock.

"Oh, I see. Can't be seen associating with the riff-raff," he snorted. "Well, thanks for the rescue, I guess. See ya in another 15 years."

With a mind of its own, Seto's hand shot out, seizing Jounouchi's wrist so the other man couldn't slip into the dark and vanish from Seto's life again. "Don't put words into my mouth," he spat through gritted teeth. "This isn't a good place to discuss this."

This being the middle of the police headquarters' visitor parking lot. Where any law enforcement official could come across their unexpected heart-to-heart.

Without releasing Jounouchi's hand, in fact his grip tightened, he pulled Jounouchi along to where his car was parked two aisles over.

The gangster let loose an impressed whistle when Seto unlocked the vehicle, a Lexus sedan. "You are doing well for yerself, ain't ya, Seto?"

The use of his given name made his skin crawl. But not enough that Seto considered abandoning him at that parking lot. Jounouchi didn't wait for an explicit invitation before he slipped into the passenger's seat. Resting one hand on top of the hood, Seto took a fortifying breath and hoped he wasn't making a mistake.

"So where are we headed?" asked Jounouchi.

"Seatbelt," he grumbled before keying the ignition.

"Yeah yeah yeah."

With his passenger buckled in, Seto navigated his car out of the lot and into Domino's streets.

Less than a minute passed before Jounouchi repeated his question. "Where are we going?"

Seto was still considering the options. For once, he didn't have a plan, much less know what his desired end goal was. Keeping his gaze fixed on the road ahead, he eventually replied, "You asked for a ride."

"Hmm, a 'ride,' huh?"

Something landed high on his right thigh. A quick downward glance confirmed it was Jounouchi's hand. Seto white-knuckled the steering wheel.

"Jounouchi," he growled as a warning.

A sigh, then Jounouchi's hand retracted. Seto's leg tingled in the wake of its departure.

"You seriously need to lighten up. You don't wanna talk. You don't wanna fuck. Whaddaya want, Seto?"

Jounouchi's gaze bore into the side of his face, and Seto hoped it was dark enough to hide the heated flush flooding his face.

He cleared his throat before declaring, "I want a drink."

Jounouchi hummed. Hard to tell if it was in agreement or in acknowledgment, though.

When he leaned forward, Seto couldn't help but tense. But Jounouchi was fiddling with the buttons on his dashboard until the radio blared to life. It was still tuned to the same talk news channel that Seto listened to on his morning commutes. A female announcer was in the middle of presenting the world news, and she barely got three sentences into a story about oil prices before Jounouchi jabbed another button, cutting her off. The other man cycled through the channels, never lingering for more than five seconds. Seto left him to it. It was better than making awkward conversation or enduring Jounouchi's attempts at flirtation.

Eventually, Jounouchi settled on a station playing jazz. As the crooning sounds of a saxophone played from his stereo speakers, Seto arched an incredulous eyebrow.

Jounouchi must've caught his look. "What? I can class it up if I want."

Something close to laughter huffed out of Seto. He made no further comment for the rest of the drive. Thankfully, neither did Jounouchi. Seto's own thoughts were already loud enough to drown out the music.

some modern headcanons i have for jet

- farmer’s son!!! farmers market but also hosts the annual haunted cornmaze

- copy/paste of his mom

- he drives his moms’ minivan that has a whole bumper stickers dedicated to social activism, anarchy, anti cops, but also:

(he drives it with a lot of pride btw)

- skateboard cliche™️ though, so he doesnt actually use the van a lot

- has foster siblings ! including the duke who he walks to school every day

- has taught all his siblings how to fight in the basement and its like a mini fight club down there istg

- is the go-to person for when his siblings need someone to help them with a video game. jet’s a natural and lets the duke take the headset while he destroys everyone.

- 5-in-1 shampoo 😔

- no social media presence and will never get an online reference. he barely gets tv references. everything he learns is against his will.

- mostly watches kid movies cuz of his foster siblings. silent crier during sad scenes.

- i dont know if jet passed his driving test or not but i do know the small talk he had with the instructor made them hesitant on passing him

- punk patch jacket. lots of anarchy and pride pins on it too.

- no ‘devil’s advocate’ is safe around him

- jet will put his feet on the chair in front of him if absent and on the legs if taken. if you nicely ask him to stop, he will. if you’re a shit person, he’ll kick your chair forward or steal shit out of your bag little by little.

- he excels in team work and public speaking so he’d be nice to have for group presentations. in theory.

1! How old do they usually live to be? I haven't put much thought into it really! I think on their home planet, they'd live to around 100-150ish? They do age I just haven't shown that in any ocs but I have this elder lady I've been thinking about and she's pretty old! I'll have to actually draw her sjndjw

2! What do they do for fun? They create! Their species is very big on arts and crafts!! But that also includes creating and improving tech, making music, designing and a lot more!! They tend to really enjoy puzzles and challenges! They also like to explore and document!

3! Are there any animals on their planet? Yes! I really need to work on what their homeworld is like! I have a basic idea for it but now I'm not sure how I like it! They definitely have pets and livestock though! Most are primarily vegetarian so there isn't much livestock though! They do harvest bugs though!! They really like eating bugs!

4! What does the planet look like? Hmm not sure! Originally their world was covered in mountains and they lived in giant cave systems! They have domes breaching the surface but they typically stay underground! Their planet is huge in intergalactic trade so there'd be big cities with giant landing docks for ships! But I'm kinda more into a solar punk vibe? Super high tech and cool machines but still super naturey and cozy! I'd like to think they have a flourishing ecosystem on their planet!

5! Do sun and moon have more things to wear other than black? Yeah! They have tons of casual wear! Moon has a lot of flashy fashion stuff while sun is a little bit more minimalistic with the exception of a few outfits! They just wear their plain clothes all the time because they're kinda sad and depressed and don't have the energy to put work into dressing y'know? But that changes eventually!

6! Why do they avoid earth? Mostly because there's nothing around earth! There's really no reason to be close other than to observe! Also, earth is monitored so no aliens intervene with earth's development. It's poorly monitored though! Observation devices are pretty outdated and the monitors are hardly ever watched!

7! How did they find the place? They were kinda just drifting aimlessly and found themselves in the area! Their ship can turn plant matter into fuel so they had planned on just taking some dead leaves and getting out of there fast. Ha didn't happen like that

8! What happens if one eats a lot of cores? They blow up!! Kinda! It varies between beings but they get more and more mentally unstable and their body starts to get deformed! Some experience voices that drive them crazy, while some experience many phantom limbs! If they consume too much, the energy of the core becomes too much for them and they implode before exploding! The energy of this death can create wrapped areas of space! And places with high energy that can damage tech and equipment! Overall, it'll usually kill them!

9! What would happen to a human that ate a core? They'd die! Pretty painfully too! Those of warmer colors have very hot cores, so the human would burn and boil from the inside out! Those with cooler colors have freezing cores! So a human would freeze from the inside out! Neutral colored beings have a core temp in-between! Their core would cause a human to have such a terrible heart attack, they would die! They'd get all jittery and basically have a huge panic attack before dropping dead!

10! What are sun and moon trying to do? Hmmmmm I have some ideas but I want to explore them a little before I talk about them :D!!! But mostly, they want normality and comfortability! They want to heal and be happy again!

SOUTH PARK TATTOO STYLE HEADCANONS

I got into Ink Master recently and have since been obsessed with tattoos, SO here are headcanons as to what tattoos the SP characters would get. VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU to @sn33z3s both for getting me into Ink Master and for helping me (and probably doing more work than I did tbh) come up with these <3

Most of the example links here for tattoo styles are on Instagram, and link to the pages of artists who do these styles!

Stan - Definitely either American Traditional or Neotraditional; either way, bold, thick lines and saturated color. Some specific designs he’d get would probably be traditional wolves, flowers, and/or neotraditional dogs: he would get a memorial piece for Sparky!! Would get full sleeves, but is also prone to getting funny sticker-type tattoos on a whim depending on what he likes at the moment.

Kyle - VERY MUCH a fine art tattoo kind of guy. His tattoos would look like paintings and are generally based off of them, but would also get fine line black and gray occasionally. Very delicate tattoos with very dainty lines, and he takes impeccable care of them.

Kenny - Has a huge variety of stick and poke tattoos (tattoos done by hand instead of with a tattoo machine) that he did himself. Would be very into the DIY and punk elements of stick and poke, and would also do them on request for his friends. Has ‘sleeves’ but they aren’t cohesive, and are actually just a bunch of very different tattoos kind of vaguely in the same place. Gets tattoos on a whim; if he dies, it’s not like they’re sticking around anyway!

Butters - Mostly has stick and poke tattoos that Kenny did for him (they are not very good), but occasionally branches out to get different tattoos. Other than the stick and pokes, I can see him primarily getting abstract and watercolor tattoos, mostly using the color blue? I don’t have a good reason for this. It just speaks to me.

Craig - Gets only black and gray geometric tattoos, and is extremely anal retentive about them. Turns up his nose at the idea of getting color in his tattoos, and is obnoxiously smug when his tattoos look good years in the future.

Tweek - Flowers!! He would be a flower tattoo guy, and his tattoos would have a lot of dotwork/stippling so he could get away with twitching; he wouldn’t go for fine line designs out of fear he would twitch and fuck it up. Mostly black and grey, but could definitely go for yellow if he was getting sunflowers.

Clyde - Has the WORST tattoos out of everyone. Mostly gets New School, but not the good kind; he gets memey tattoos that are old and cringe in two years time. He also has a ton of them and none of them are cohesive at all, because he tells his artist to do whatever and then hits on them during the whole tattoo.

Tolkien - Doesn't necessarily go with the typical iconography of American Traditional, but definitely goes with the style: bold lines and very saturated colors. His tattoos sit kind of in the middle between simple and complex, and they're always the cleanest tattoos out of the group.

Jimmy - Also gets New School, but actually does his research and gets cool tattoos. They all look sick and hold up super well. All of his tattoos are extremely colorful and actually do look like stickers. Leans very heavy into the cartoon style and it works for him.

Wendy - Kind of settles somewhere between Neotraditional and New School; her tattoos are all very clean, but not overly graphic or cartoony. Has a minimalist color palette and bold lines, so you can tell what her tattoos are from across the room. Often includes feminist iconography.

Bebe - ALSO FLOWERS. She could go either black and gray or color, but if she did go for color, it would definitely be red. Her tattoos are all very flattering and fit her shape well; they have a lot of flow and motion to them. Would get one of those flower tattoos on her hip.

Nichole - She doesn't have a set style, so she has a little bit of everything! She essentially treats tattoos like a scrapbook, and mostly gets new ones to celebrate events in her life, even if they're small, or to match with her friends. Most of her designs are silly and cute, and she doesn't take it too seriously.

Heidi - ANIMAL TATTOOS. She gives off that vibe to me, with deer in particular. She's mostly a Neotraditional animal type of person, but could go with realistic given the right artist. Her tattoos are always in color.

Let's go. I'm twenty, agender (afab), somewhere between bi and pansexual, poly and somewhere under the aromantic umbrella. Don't mind any pronouns in particular. I want one match-up with a human and one with a ghoul (let's see how you handle it babes). I study writing, might pick up a second major in journalism, dunno yet. Theistic satanist. Monsterfucker. I'm 164 centimeters tall (I'm not looking it up in feet). I've got a soft tummy and pretty good ass (lmao). You know how I look like, though I am planning to dye my hair blue.

I usually wear skinny jeans and hoodies with some weird print. I love oversized hoodies, they are like my main source of comfort. I have chains attached to my pants, and I love wearing too many necklaces. I usually have ghearrings (the ghost crosses) in my ears and another one on a chain around my neck. Also wearing a Baphomet (like the goat head in a pentagram) necklace, a pride heart one, a matching besties necklace with Vic and occasionally a choker. I do occasionally do all out, wearing a white dress shirt, black skinny jeans, a leather jacket and the listed jewelry with my favorite rainbow sneakers and round sunglasses. With lots of rings, mostly something skull/plant/occult themed. Always silverish color, never gold. I don't like gold.

Outside from Ghost, I mostly listen to rock and different kinds of metal. And FNaF songs.

I was a Creepypasta kid. Aside from Polish and English I speak some German and bits of Italian, but very little. I can read most arabic letters (as in I know what sounds they make).

I have lots of different posters on my walls and I have stickers on my furniture because I grew up too fast and I'm catching up on my childhood now. I've got mental issues, including but not limited to autism, ADHD, depression, anxiety, mommy issues and daddy issues. I like calling them my pokemon.

I like writing (though I barely have time for that) and re-watching Total Drama (watched it 8 times just this year) since it manages to keep my attention, something most movies fail to do, which is why I barely watch anything. I get bored very easily. I play the Sims 4 a lot, but I can't build in it for the life of me. I'm amazing at building in the Sims 3. Big fan of Assassin's Creed (I don't like the new ones, though, since it doesn't feel like AC anymore to me). I own many true crime and paranormal activity books, though I can barely read at this point. I like manga, though. Currently collecting the Soul Eater series. I love plushies. I got a new one today. Their name is Pyza. (Yes, they're enby, I even got them a pin)

I know way more about butterflies than I should. I know lots of useless trivia in general. Most of it disturbing. I'm tired 24/7, but my body either wakes up before 7AM or after 6 hours exactly and it's impossible for me to fall asleep again. My room is usually a mess, but that's okay, so am I.

I'm a total introvert, but I'm also so tired with life I forced myself to become the extrovert of the group. I'm really loud if I like people, although my affection is usually random touches on someone's arms and shoulders with a strange noise. I make noises. A lot.

For some reason, babies love me. Even though I personally dislike children. I love pets, though. All sorts of pets. Cats, dogs, snakes, spiders... Anything. If I can pet it, I want to pet it. I love moths from the attacus family, I mean just look at this gorgeous girl!

As for my personality, aside from daily mental breakdowns, I'm relatively chill, just... Very unhinged. I talked about Secondo's dick piercings in McDonald's. Compared to the shit I say, Terzo's an angel.

I'm 5'2 and brown skinned. I have dark brown eyes and short black curly hair. I'm generally cheeky, sweet, playful, and extroverted. I'm a punk by music taste (mostly listening to alt rock, punk rock and a little bit of metal on the side) but a goth by fashion choice (minus the white foundation and dramatic eyeliner, though I still sport a sharp wing everyday).

This was really long so I put it it under a read more, don't wanna spam the Shiftblr fam with my long ass ramblings lmao /Joke

(Also sorry I took so long to answer, I'm sick rn >:/ )

Okay so my Pokemon DR is mostly set in Sun/Moon/Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon (Alola) but includes characters and pokemon from Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire (Hoenn) and Black/White/Black 2/White 2 (Unova) because my backstory and main pokemon team

So my backstory is basically that I'm childhood friends with Guzma, (Professor) Kukui, Plumeria and (Professor) Burnet but my family move away to Unova and I don't get to say goodbye to Guzma and it makes him think I abandoned him. I get the first two pokemon of my main team in Unova which is an Oshawott I name Jeffrey and a Larvesta that I name Vestia plus a few temp mons and with them I become Unova Champion before my family moves AGAIN to Hoenn and I get two more of my main pokemon party in a Mudkip (Mason) and a Ralts (Saka) plus more temp mon before I become the Hoenn Champion as well (Yeah I know what you're thinking "Dual pokemon champion in TWO separate regions?? Is that even allowed?" Well all I gotta say is it's my DR so I say it's rare but possible)

Many years later of defending my dual championships I get called by Kukui about him trying to start a Pokemon league in Alola and I accept the role of helping him run it but only because I secretly want to see Guzma again and so I move back to Alola, finding the last two of my main pokemon party in a Rowlett who I name Robin and a Goomy who I name Gooey. I'm not the Alola champion, preferring to spend my time away from Unova and Hoenn relaxing and catching up with my old friends which is when I decide to try and reach out to Guzma only to find that the sweet kid I used to know is now big boss of a criminal gang called team skull

The rest of the pokemon that aren't in my main party help me part time with running a nursery, raising newly hatched pokemon for first time trainers or they chill out in my apartment.

I know that's a long backstory but It's my reason as to why I have non Alola pokemon on my main team if the DR is set in Alola. My Love interest in the DR is (as you can probably guess) Guzma because he's my babygirl fr fr /positive and with the release of the Scarlet/Violet DLC(The indigo disk) and with it being heavily implied that Blueberry Academy is in Unova I have added in my script that eventually (Not sure when tbh, I'm gonna let the world decide) we both move back to Unova and have Drayton (I give up my Hoenn champion title but keep my Unova title)

Like you can't just give me a white haired kid with a punk attitude who lives in Unova and has a sweet tooth and NOT expect me to claim him as Guzma and I's son

For my fellow Stranger Things fic writers (and people who want a Music 101 lesson about rock genres):

Hard Rock ≠ Heavy Metal

Also, Heavy Metal ≠ Punk Rock

All three genres are awesome, I like songs from each of them, and—at least nowadays—they typically appeal to the same sorts of people. However, they are NOT the same.

Under the cut for length:

Hard Rock vs. Heavy Metal

Both of these genres rely heavily on the electric guitar and intense drumbeats, but they are not comparable from a technical perspective. I’m not a musical genius myself, so this is gonna be a very bare-bones explanation, but the main differences come down to speed and scales.

Speed: Hard rock is typically slower than heavy metal because it generally relies more on a definitive beat than rhythm. For example, compare AC/DC’s “Back in Black” (a hard rock song) at 92 beats per minute (BPM) with Iron Maiden’s “The Number of the Beast” (a heavy metal song) at 196 BPM.

Scales: While both hard rock and heavy metal are known for having an “angry” or “aggressive” sound, hard rock is typically way more upbeat. This is on purpose, because most hard rock songs are played in major scales while most heavy metal songs are played in minor scales. For non-musical people like me, the oversimplification of this is that major scales sound happy and minor scales sound sad.

Another way to summarize the difference, as my friend who teaches guitar puts it, is that. “Hard rock is music you fuck to. Heavy metal is a musical ‘Fuck you!’“

Heavy Metal vs. Punk Rock

Again, these genres CAN be very similar, but they’re not identical. The difference this time is more about intention and aesthetic than actual sound, though. (That being said, there ARE musical differences between the genres, I’m just not enough of an expert to explain what those are.)

This is because both of these genres are cultural movements. In fact (and this is amusing considering how many people mix up “metal” and “punk”), the two movements largely HATED each other through the 70s and 80s. Obviously, there are a lot of people who like both genres, but, in terms of culture, there was a huge cultural clash between the two for decades. Both of the movements were grounded in rebellion against societal norms, but heavy metal sought to define why those societal norms were worth rebelling against with aggressive skill while punk rock focused mainly on defining what those societal norms were so they could purposely subvert them.

The Why + Aggressive Skill: People may call heavy metal “screamy music” (and by “people”, I include myself—it’s typically too loud and screechy to be my thing), but one thing they can’t call it is “basic”. One of the most definitive traits of heavy metal is its focus on complex and intense scoring. It’s not an easy genre to play, and it takes a lot of skill and strength to get right. The speed of the music is only the tip of the iceberg regarding what makes it so difficult. Musical complexity goes hand-in-hand with the intense themes metal music tends to cover, including addiction, mental illness, and lack of control. That’s also one of the reasons the genre relies so heavily on demonic and Satanic imagery—metal musicians use their songs to explain and/or confront the devils on their shoulders. There are plenty of heavy metal fans and musicians who ARE Satanists and revere demonic figures above just using them for imagery, but the origins of the genre are rooted more in symbolism and allegory.

The What + Anti-Establishment Simplicity: Punk rock is the exact opposite of this. It doesn’t care about skill and complexity because The Man, The System, is what defines what it means to be skillful and complex. That’s why originating punk rock bands used very simplistic lyrics and musical refrains. It’s not because they’re untalented (though, on that note, one of the biggest complaints from early critics of punk music was that the musicians couldn’t actually play, mostly because none of them were classically trained). Where heavy metal sought to delve into why societal norms are just as dangerous, if not more so, than the internal issues that plague individual people, punk rock wanted to get in society’s face and force it to acknowledge what made punks different and how none of the things they cared about actually mattered. In that way, punk rock started as a pretty nihilistic genre.

And then there’s The Who, who were, incidentally, a hard rock band. (Bad joke, sorry, couldn’t resist.)

But, anyway, another summary from my teacher friend: “Heavy metal shoves a mirror in society’s face, punk rock shatters the mirror over its head and dances in the blood.” He also said that heavy metal is a genre for people who are alienated from society and don’t want to be while punk rock is a genre for people who are alienated from society and really fucking lean into it.

Stranger Things Characters

Eddie is into heavy metal and is a certified metalhead because of his aesthetic (both the way he dresses and the way he decorates his room). He’s kind, and helpful, and looks most at-home when he’s happy, but he leans into the dark clothes and dark hair and aggressive appearance. He subverts expectations on purpose. He probably wouldn’t put it in those exact words, but that’s what he’s got going on. This is a very common trait for heavy metal fans—go under any metal music video on YouTube, you’ll find hundreds of comments from people saying things like, “My friend is a metalhead and he looks terrifying but he’s seriously the nicest guy I know, he wouldn’t hurt a fly.”

Jonathan is into punk music, but he doesn’t look punk. If you want to see what punk looks like, turn toward Kali (008) and her gang. The heavily dyed mohawks, spiky clothing and jewelry, and dark makeup are all part of the punk thing. Both Jonathan and Kali’s gang purposely push people away, though, the former with his attitude and the latter with their appearances. They don’t fit in and they don’t want to. They’re kind to those they care about, but they’re not “nice” as a general rule because other people have taught them not to be.

Billy, interestingly, is also into metal music but looks more like a hard rocker—still grungy and artfully distressed but no leather and a lot more exposed skin.
