the tragedy in night and day doesn't lie in the accident because day doesn't blame night for the accident (not really, not in the way night blames himself). the tragedy in night and day lies in day having wanted night to be his big brother but feeling like he had to take on that roll for night instead and night having wanted day to be his little brother who is as proud of him as he is of day but being unable to figure out how to get there before the accident. the tragedy lies in day not understanding why night couldn't step up until after day went blind ('im just so damn lucky to be blind') and their mother and the world started treating him like a tragedy; leaving him feeling like night has always been jealous of him and is only stepping up to take the place of the golden son of the family now that it's up for grabs. the tragedy lies in night not being able to communicate to day that he was always proud of him and that him showing up to his sporting events only after day went blind isn't because day is blind now but because he has always loved him and supported him ('this is my little brother. he's a junior athlete on the national team') but now it's impossible to convince day of his sincerity and night can't forgive himself. the tragedy of night and day lies in these brother not having been given the time to naturally grow out of this crooked brotherly dynamic that was put upon them and now they're stuck under all this weight both unable to leave the night of the accident when they're around each other. the tragedy in night and day is that tomorrow isn't guaranteed and they are too stuck in the past to look at today.

I'm interested to know how you view Nordics and their relationships with each other: What kind of dynamic do they have? ty!
Sure! I have some thoughts. This family is an antisocial mess filled with sibling rivalry, and I love it. You cannot convince me Norway and Sweden aren't the types of siblings who only share their food when it's cut equally with measuring tape. Norway will get mad if you take his stuff, and Denmark is the sibling who comes to annoy you but claims he's not in your room. Then he puts the lights off before leaving!

Denmark & Sweden
Denmark, Norway, and Sweden have a brotherly relationship. They may not be biological brothers but have been raised as ones and definitely act like so too. Denmark and Sweden have a rival relationship; they have always had one. But their rivalry is not hostile, at least not anymore. Their different personalities, goals, and perspectives caused them quite a deep rift in the past, but they have never despised each other. They're two brothers, always competing about everything, and it's something they have been taught from a young age. They both want to be the strongest and the best because they both think they know for sure what is right for the family. While Sweden thinks Den is too boisterous and a know-it-all, Denmark doesn't think Sweden has what it takes to keep their family safe in every situation. They both want to take the leadership role and have conflicting ideas. While Denmark was left in charge when they were kids, Sweden grew rebellious of it over time. Denmark didn't take Sweden seriously, taunted him constantly, and judged everything he did, making Sweden bitter. On the other hand, Denmark saw Sweden as unnecessarily stubborn - a younger brother who thought too highly of himself and was too self-centered to care about the family. They have been through a lot together and seen the other's worst side, so they know each other better than anyone else. They have no filter when critiquing the other's actions. They're brothers who test and provoke one another on a regular basis. But even with all the fighting, they have a deep unspoken trust and care for the other; they're just pissed the other doesn't see this! With the modern age and a lot of self-reflection, they have calmed down immensely and have forgiven each other's pasts. But the arguing and wrestling still remain. Nowadays, they talk about their roles as parental figures and share advice and tips with each other, which others find lame.
Sweden & Norway
Sweden and Norway consider the other as a dear brother but also as the sibling you just love to hate. They criticize each other constantly, calling the other names, telling cruel jokes, and complaining about how the other person speaks their language totally wrong. But that's just talk because they would do anything for each other if needed. If the other calls and asks for help, they would instantly come, but not before making a joke on how they need a "real Scandinavian" to help them out. And by the end of the day, they sit down for drinks and chat. They rely on each other heavily and can be considered the closest of the Scandinavians. Denmark and Sweden have fought over Norway countless times, and it's best described as best friend jealousy. They both want their brother entirely on their side, to be their ultimate best friend, while Norway would prefer to be on his own for a change. Because Norway was always so antisocial and behind the rest of the world, Sweden thought he needed to help him do everything. Sweden's constant tendency to get into Norway's business and calling Norway slow annoys him greatly. There's also a shared sentiment of jealousy. While back in the day, Sweden was the wealthy and influential brother that Norway envied, nowadays, it's Norway who has it easy, and Sweden feels jealous. Still, while they like bragging about their successes and superiority, they wouldn't want to humiliate the other. Because what's the fun of competing if you don't have equal chances? If they both want something, they'll have to fight for it. When they were kids, they let Denmark be the boss of the house, while Sweden and Norway went out and brought their share to the table, which they often made into a competition. And you can still see this competitiveness in them today. When Sweden and Norway start debating, they ask for neutral Finland's opinion, who hates having to pick sides. Norway is the person who keeps Den and Swe in check, but when Sweden and Denmark start talking about dad stuff, Norway leaves the conversation quickly. The idea of fatherhood is undesirable to him. The union was an awkward time for both Sweden and Norway, but somehow, they made it work. No matter how much hatred Norway felt towards Sweden for not letting him have his independence, Norway lifted Sweden up after he lost Finland. And that's why they rely so much on each other; They're both stoic and have difficulty processing their emotions, so they know how to comfort the other at their lowest. During the union, they matured and realized it was time to build the family back up together. Because at the end of the day, what else do they have then each other. Only they could possibly understand each other's struggles and growth. The only people who will be with them till the end. Their union ended peacefully, and Norway has been persistent in keeping his own freedom ever since. After convincing Denmark, they built the Nordic family back together as an extensive alliance - getting Iceland and eventually Finland on board too. So while Denmark thinks he's still the big brother of the house, it's actually Norway and Sweden who run the operation.
Denmark & Norway
Denmark and Norway still to this day share an emotional bond that's special to them. They can talk about their worries openly and offer advice to each other. Denmark definitely relies more on Norway and views him very highly, while Norway has an indifferent opinion about him. Denmark finds Norway admirable, someone he wants to keep by his side, but Norway sets up his boundaries clearly. Sometimes this can make Den a bit self-conscious because he doesn't want to bother Norway (so he goes to tease Iceland instead). Denmark knows he didn't treat Norway the best in the past, so he's chill when Norway mocks him; it's kind of deserved. But Denmark still won't let Sweden mock him without bullying him back. Den knows Norway has a tendency to suppress his emotions and get depressed, and it's something he's constantly worried about. He feels a need to always be cheering Norway up and giving him a positive outlook on life. Norway thinks Denmark's way of doing things is odd and stupid. The man is hopeless when faced with "real winter," so Norway has a good laugh when he puts Den on skis. Denmark is just happy to be entertaining. Denmark can sometimes be in his little bubble and unaware of his surroundings. He forgets things and loses his thoughts often, so Norway follows and cleans up after him as he has always done. He knows Denmark isn't bad by nature; he just has an annoying tendency to go head-first without consulting others. In their childhood, Denmark was left in charge of the whole family while he himself was just a kid as well. Den never got a chance to be a vulnerable kid, so Norway knows Denmark has just grown up to take the protective leadership role in all situations.
Sweden & Finland
These two have a long and confusing relationship. Sweden is oblivious to Fin's underlying resentment towards him, while Finland is clueless about Sweden's clear affection towards him. He has a special soft spot for Finland and lets him off the hook very easily, while Fin hates how much more successful Sweden is at everything he does. Sometimes Fin feels lacking behind, stupid, or even immature compared to him and thus shows bitterness. Fin takes any opportunity he can to beat Sweden. And if Finland even once wins something, he will keep reminding Swe about it decades later. Sweden gets annoyed about Norway or Denmark's boasting but lets Finland have these moments because they make him (oddly) happy. Finland likes to be vocal about how much Sweden annoys him, but if Sweden says Norway or even Denmark are closer friends to him than Finland is, he'll get disheartened; he thought he was Sweden's number one guy! They were together for 700+ years, so they naturally gravitate toward each other. Swe feels like Fin has always treated him with kindness and genuine interest, something he lacked back in the day with Denmark and Norway. Losing Finland hit Sweden hard, and it took him a long time to get over it. After this "break up," he had entirely reevaluated his life and decisions up to that point, and he changed into a very different person. For the most part, their relationship was positive, but after Finland's independence, some issues emerged. Eventually, they got over that, and nowadays, they are known as the pair who always share their work and make big decisions together, even when the rest of the Nordics don't agree on them. That's why others might tease them and call them a married couple, which Finland finds ridiculous, but Sweden finds it awkward.
Denmark & Iceland
Iceland has a huge need to get away from Denmark and appear as independent as possible. Denmark has always acted like Iceland's guardian and still has difficulty trusting him with adult responsibilities. Ice thinks Denmark can take his role as a former guardian too seriously and fall back into the overprotectiveness he used to have. To Iceland, Den can appear very pigheaded and forgets Iceland has been independent for a while now and has his own culture and life. Den calls Iceland all the time and makes sure he's okay, which Iceland finds condescending. But, when Iceland needs "dad's help" with something, he's immediately calling Denmark in panic. Denmark can be pretty playful and teases Ice a lot (and bores him with dad jokes), but he's just proud of the kid and sees Ice as a competent adult. Den knows Iceland can be cautious when trying things out of his comfort zone, so he pushes him to new situations for better and worse. The Copenhagen nightlife was more traumatizing than fun for reserved Ice, so now Denmark opts for simple board game nights at local Icelandic pubs with him. Ice gets self-conscious when visiting Denmark, fearing he will somehow embarrass himself with how he speaks or dresses up. In return, Denmark gets very defensive if someone is making Iceland feel uncomfortable (which Iceland sees as another form of overprotectiveness). But as long as Denmark doesn't come to tell him what to do, Iceland doesn't mind him. Growing up, Denmark was always the father figure young Iceland so desperately wanted. So he has to take Den's fatherliness, in both good and bad.
Denmark & Finland
Denmark is someone Finland has known for a long time. At first, Denmark questioned bringing a complete stranger (who didn't even speak the language) to the family but eventually warmed up to the kid, like bringing a lost puppy home. Fin thinks Den is fun and views him as an older brother figure who can cheer up anyone's day. Denmark finds Finland hard to approach and doesn't know what to discuss or do with him; they can be polar opposites in many situations, like summer and winter. It also doesn't help that Denmark thinks Fin can be intimidating sometimes, which Finland doesn't know. But give those two enough beer, and they'll talk and party through the whole night. They're the only members of the family who can let loose on the spot and jump into any activity without hesitation. Finland has recently started teaching Denmark some ice hockey, and he's getting pretty good at it. Finland has a lot of patience and lets Den be annoying to a certain point, but when Fin has had enough, he needs to say so only once, and Denmark doesn't dare to do anything for a month (which Swe and Nor think is a weapon that should be utilized more often).
Sweden & Iceland
While historically they have been pretty distant, Sweden has always worried about the kid and ensured that whatever dispute and fighting happens, it doesn't directly affect little innocent Ice. During union times, Iceland was a bit scared of Sweden, but Sweden managed to get on Ice's good side with various toys he carved for him. I can imagine a little Ice guiding practically blind Sweden around and telling Denmark to stop bullying Swe. Iceland and Sweden have gotten closer during modern times, and Sweden usually takes the mentor role. Whenever Ice has a problem that he will definitely not bring up with Nor or Den, he'll go straight to Sweden. Iceland is always welcome at Swe's place, and Ice can always call for any troubles or issues he might have. Ice never says it out loud, but he does appreciate this. Sweden isn't pushy or obsessive about it but rather a trustworthy adult he can rely on. Sweden actually listens to him and offers some genuine advice as he trusts Iceland's ability to make decisions himself. Swe is always happy to see Ice, makes him his favorite foods, and offers him a room to stay. Ice can become a bit uneasy when with Sweden because he feels Sweden does so much for him and never expects anything back. He'll start working and cleaning around the place to show gratitude, and Sweden tries to stop him. Lately, Sweden has taken time to teach Iceland skills, like cooking, and they're slowly getting somewhere.
Norway & Finland
Norway and Finland get along great. Finland hasn't done anything to annoy Norway and vice versa. They even have a lot of common interests, like sports and music, which they talk about a lot. All kinds of winter activities are their specialty, and they do a lot of teamwork by the northern border. They have a winter cabin over there that they share (with Sweden). Norway is very generous towards Fin and lets him borrow his stuff - something Den and Swe find unfair, as they haven't been given such privileges. Norway thinks Finland is just more trustworthy than those two. Norway is still upset his constitution didn't allow him to give Finland a mountain as a birthday present, but Finland thought it was too much anyway. Nor and Fin have no energy for useless fighting, so Sweden and Denmark's constant bickering gets tiring. They just sit on the side and talk over a cup of coffee. Finland feels secretly a bit jealous of Norway and wishes to be more like him. Growing up, he always viewed him with admiration and wanted to get closer to him. Norway likes listening to Finland's senseless stories and finds his strength and durability against cold amusing; he sees Finland as the badass friend he would bring into a fight.
Finland & Iceland
Finland and Iceland have the most distant relationship out of all the Nordics since they are on opposite sides of the region. Ice finds Fin cool and the only one who doesn't treat him like a baby, which he appreciates. Finland is always lending a hand to Ice when needed. Iceland likes Moomins and asks Fin to bring him a new mug when he visits. On the other hand, Finland admires Icelandic nature and wants to try all the craziest activities (like having a barbeque on lava). Finland can relate to Iceland and bond over the fact that they're both considered strange within the family. They both have a morbid sense of humor, which the others sometimes find a bit concerning. During the union times, Finland was left out of discussions and decision-making, and he had to spend time working or taking care of the youngest members, like Iceland. I imagine Finland was a skilled young horseman and taught Iceland a lot about horses. Nowadays, they go camping occasionally, which is a lot of fun, and they always say they should hang out more often (but they never seem to have time to do so).
Norway & Iceland
Norway has never been good at parenting or taking responsibility for others, so he has a lot of regrets concerning Iceland. He has always known Iceland is his biological brother but has never been able to connect to him. That doesn't mean he doesn't care about the kid; he absolutely does, but Nor just never found a way to claim that big brother status. They're very similar in nature, but that also means they're both bad at communicating and preferring to keep everything in. Iceland can feel insecure with Norway - like he needs to prove himself and his capabilities to get his validation. He's afraid to ask for Norway's help in case he appears weak or Norway would somehow judge him (which he of course wouldn't). Norway's attempt to reclaim their lost bond is sometimes irritating to Iceland, even though he knows it shouldn't. He has lots of disappointing memories when it comes to his brother, which is the reason for his underlying insecurities. He fears Nor will abandon him once again. Norway has always given Iceland the freedom Denmark never knew how to give. He took Iceland on long trips and taught him necessary life skills. Iceland adored Norway growing up, always choosing him over anyone else. He even got jealous if someone else took his brother's attention. When Iceland was nervous or unsure as a child, Norway would tell him fantastical stories and restore hope in him. Norway sees a lot of young himself in Iceland. He wants to make sure Ice has everything he needs and the tools to do better than he did in the past. Norway has difficulty putting his love in words, so he keeps buying Iceland stuff and asking if Ice has always got what he needs, which Iceland insists he has. Norway feels terrible that he wasn't there for Ice when he was still a small child. Instead, he was left alone on a small harsh island. But Norway himself was a teenager. He wouldn't have been much of a parental figure even if he had been with him. He still feels a sense of failure in this and tries to make it up for it nowadays. In order to build their relationship, they go camping and fishing together whenever possible. They tell stories and talk about the past. Iceland is fascinated by his roots, and Norway tries to help to the best of his abilities (but the fading memory isn't helping). They both have regrets and disappointments regarding their shared past, but they will always have that unique family bond no one can take away from them.
• • • • • • • • • •
TL;DR: Denmark is the reckless oldest sibling, who has the leadership role purely out of birthright. Sweden is the rebellious middle child who makes everything into a competition. Norway is the free-spirited middle child who can't really take responsibility. Iceland is the youngest and most sensitive one, who is always viewed as the baby. And Finland is the adopted weird sibling, who is usually left out, but he's happy to be part of the family nevertheless.

Pick a favourite rare pairing and tell us some of your ideas for them.
Ooooh, I think one of my fav rare pairs right now would be Breezepelt x Lionblaze!!!!
I love the idea of a black-furred, scrawny tom who is filled with loathing towards his Thunderclan kin, but who eventually realizes it’s not loathing, it’s a sense of longing and jealousy.
Breezepelt wants family so badly. He has Nightcloud, but their relationship is partly built on mutual anger and hurt, not just a familial love. They hate Crowfeather together, but there isn’t that connection that Breezepelt longs for. (Don’t get him wrong—he loves his mother, and he appreciates their relationship, but there’s still a disconnect.)
Whenever he sees Lionblaze, Hollyleaf and Jayfeather hanging out together at gatherings, Breezepelt is riddled with negative emotions. He wants what they have. He wants siblings, partners, friends, he wants a father that smiles at him like Brambleclaw smiles at his kits. He’s jealous beyond belief, and often stares across the small island with narrowed, glinting eyes as he watches his half-kin be happy.
Lionblaze makes him angriest. Yes, Hollyleaf is happy, and Jayfeather has a temper that his clanmates accept (rather than Breezepelt’s clanmates who were visibly annoyed by his antics), but it’s Lionblaze that makes him seethe.
Lionblaze is strong, tall, well-built, determined, brave, a brilliant fighter, and a respected Thunderclan cat. His fur is so bushy and soft-looking, and when he smiles he seems to glow with a positive energy. Breezepelt feels himself being pulled towards Lionblaze, and he assumes that it’s because he’s envious and he deserves what Lionblaze has.
When they meet at border patrols or at gatherings, Lionblaze and Breezepelt are harsh towards each other. (Well, actually, Breezepelt is the harsh one, Lionblaze just cocks an eyebrow and brushes it off as clan rivalry.) Lionblaze is well aware of Breezepelt’s temper, and he sometimes indulges in it and matches Breezepelt’s energy if he’s having a bad day. Other times, he rolls his eyes. Other times, he just dismisses Breezepelt’s mood with a flick of his tail. He doesn’t realize why Breezepelt is so passionate about hating him.
Breezepelt spends quite a while ‘hating’ Lionblaze, until they work together one day. Perhaps it’s a short journey that one cat from each clan goes on, or perhaps it’s at that one-time daylight gathering where all four clans compete in skill-testing games on the island. I’m gonna go with the latter for this particular idea.
When teams are suggested, Breezepelt runs up to Lionblaze with a determined sneer, ready to demand that they get their own teams and battle against each other. However, when the clan leaders look down at the crowd of cats to pick teams, they assume that Breezepelt was intending to work with Lionblaze, not against him.
“Ready to be destroyed in this competition?” Breezepelt taunts, his tail lashing.
Lionblaze looks him over and offers a half-smile, not really responding to Breezepelt’s attitude. “You think you can beat me?” He asks, his voice lacking any actual mockery, just calm surprise. He stands up and gives a small laugh, which just makes Breezepelt’s fur stand on end. How DARE he laugh, especially when it made such a handsome sound!
Fireheart is sitting on a branch of a tree with the other leaders, and after a moment of cats going into their own little groups, he begins to announce which groups have seemingly lumped together from different clans.
“Cloudtail and Nightcloud will be competing together, as well as Dustpelt and Smokefoot, then Lionblaze and Breezepelt.”
Breezepelt freezes, his expression stuck in a sneer for a moment before he snaps back to attention and spins to face the large tree where the clan leaders sit. “Wait, but—“
“Alright, everyone, let’s start with the battle contest.” Blackstar announces, his gaze passing over the array of different cats.
Breezepelt straightens up, excited to prove himself against Lionblaze.
“Team up with your partner and fight against another pair.” Onestar adds.
Breezepelt is shocked. He has to fight with Lionblaze? No way. Definitely not. Absolutely NOT.
“Alright, let’s do this.” Lionblaze glances around to find another group, then waves his tail to invite Hollyleaf and her partner Snowbird.
The two she cats approach.
It takes Breezepelt a couple rounds to accept that he has to fight together with Lionblaze, and it isn’t until Hollyleaf and Snowbird almost take the two toms down that Breezepelt realizes he has to actually participate. He glares at Lionblaze, but still presses up against him, lashing out a paw to defend himself against the other team’s blows.
Lionblaze is enjoying the fight, and he’s visibly not trying too hard. He’s having fun, but he still covers Breezepelt, protecting him from some attacks and trying to work together.
Breezepelt fights against it for a few minutes, ignoring Lionblaze’s signals and not even interacting with the golden tom, but finally he obliges and begins behaving properly.
The four cats battle with sheathed claws, and at the end of it, each pair moves like one, complementing each other’s moves and balancing their weaknesses. When the fight ends, Hollyleaf and Snowbird turn away to find another team to battle against, while Lionblaze takes a moment to groom his fur and compliment Breezepelt.
“Good job on that sliding attack, I’ve never seen someone do that before.” He says, licking his paw and running it over his face to smooth his whiskers. “It was so quick!”
Breezepelt sneers, though he’s confused by the heat that spreads across his muzzle and grows within his chest. Was it pride? “Whatever.” He mutters.
“No, really!” Lionblaze says, misunderstanding Breezepelt’s tone and assuming he was just being humble. “Your speed is really admirable, I have a bit more heft behind my movements but I’m nowhere as fast as you.”
Breezepelt shoots him an icy glare, but Lionblaze doesn’t notice or look over, which just leaves Breezepelt staring at the golden tom. He tries not to notice how fluffy and soft Lionblaze’s fur looks, or how strong he was when fighting.
“Alright, the next round will be hunting!” Leopardstar announces from the large tree. “Each team will go onto the mainland and try to catch three different pieces of prey.”
Lionblaze shook himself off, excited to go to the next stage. “Let’s go, we don’t want to miss out on the good prey!” He exclaims, beginning to head to the tree-bridge. Breezepelt stays still for a moment. Lionblaze looks over his shoulder, then circles back and drapes his tail over Breezepelt’s back in an encouraging manner. He assumes that Breezepelt wasn’t sure which territory to go to, so he leads the black tom across the bridge.
“We can head to the Thunderclan area.” Lionblaze suggests, his voice warm and happy. “Maybe you can show me some of your hunting moves.”
“Pssh.” Breezepelt tries to think of a snarky remark, but before he can figure it out, Lionblaze continues.
“I’d love to see your moves; you’re so sleek in battle, I’m sure you’re a brilliant hunter.”
Breezepelt’s fur along his spine rises, and he’s surprised that it doesn’t immediately come along with a sense of rage. In fact, it’s almost kind of nice to hear Lionblaze say that.
“I can show you mine too, of course.” Lionblaze keeps talking, his tail still on Breezepelt’s back as he chatters on. “I don’t want it to be one-sided. I have this really cool hunting move I learned a few moons ago, you’re supposed to start in a tree—yeah, a tree, right?!”
Breezepelt doesn’t respond, but Lionblaze doesn’t seem bothered, he just keeps talking.
“And then you wait, and then BAM, you drop down on prey! I’m sure you’d do great! You’re slim, so you don’t need lots of muscles to haul yourself up.” He glances over at Breezepelt, examining him for a moment.
Breezepelt bristles, ready for a rude comment, his body tensing as he waits for the inevitable remark about how he’s not as strong or powerful as he should be.
“I don’t mean scrawny,” Lionblaze says, not at all bothered by Breezepelt’s silence. He was a great conversationalist, he could have a full conversation all by himself if he wanted. “I noticed when we fought together that you have lean muscles under that silky pelt.”
‘Silky?’ Breezepelt thinks, confused. That wasn’t the rude comment he was expecting.
“Honestly, you’re a really well-rounded warrior,” Lionblaze chatters on, glancing around as they approach the hunting area he was bringing them to. “It might be cool if these daylight gatherings happen again, I’d love to fight with you again.”
The rest of the hunting task is spent together, with Lionblaze chatting to himself and Breezepelt listening. Eventually, bit by bit, Breezepelt starts to respond. His answers are short at first, not much more than a snort or a muttered remark, but Lionblaze isn’t bothered. Slowly but surely, he breaks down Breezepelt’s walls without even meaning to.
When they return to the island, each holding two pieces of prey (take that, they got four pieces in total, not just the three that was requested!), they almost seem like a team.
The next few times they see each other on border patrols, Lionblaze flashes him a big smile, and Breezepelt can’t bring himself to snarl in response, so he just gives a jerky nod of his head in acknowledgement.
Breezepelt finds that Lionblaze is still in his thoughts, maybe even more than before, but now he isn’t filled with that hateful seething rage that he experienced in the past, he’s almost…hopeful?
Weird.

"Our Last Chance"
1st off; the pairing of Bart Allen and a batsis is so flavourful and I love it
We already have characterisation within the first couple chapters bc batsis feels responsible for or at least dutiful to keeping the family together (it's giving middle child/child of divorce), and clear relationships set up with potential to be explored;
Is there a reason she feels so attached to Dick? Is it just because she managed to join the family after he had gotten out of his angsty phase and was ready to overcompensate for losing Jason? She would have to be closest in age to Tim so is there some rivalry or respect there? I think you mentioned Damian being a little upset upon first meeting batsis and realising he's not the only OR the first blood child/child with both parents and I can imagine there would be some jealousy and insecurity from both sides, Damian thinks her parents still love each other (and they do, but they're relationship is just as complicated as Bruce and Talia), batsis who knows they can't measure up to him skill wise BC of all his training so it feels like he just came along and was better than her despite being younger.
Does batsis have a hero name? Has she already gone through her 'estranged from Bruce and striking out on my own' phase or is that yet to come? Does she ever feel she might be in the shadow of her parents and brothers, especially considering the tension of her parents being on different sides (though not entirely opposite). We know Bruce isn't always the best at expressing his emotions so has he ever opposed the idea of batsis associating with her mum and aunts bc he doesn't want her to be associated with him if shes fraternising with criminals.
Has she ever felt the sting of betrayal knowing that she represents his 'weakness into temptation'? Did that sting become a white hot burning when she realised he strayed again by hurting Dick and Batgirl? I like how she shows some of Bruce's irrational thinking in a way that is so much like a child that it tugs at the heartstrings - all she wants is to fix it but it's not something that can be fixed and yet she still finds a way. Also love how she feels hurt and things but doesn't resort to hostility or blame and instead works on compartmentalising ways to fix it - it really feels like she's Batman's kid and it's a subtle hint of her character.
- btw I'm going to be going by 🐌 if that's ok
omg i’m so excited i’ve never gotten an ask like this before!! and going by 🐌 is more than okay!
- 1st, thank you so much! thanks to young justice i’m slightly obsessed with him
- i’m definitely going for child of divorce vibes and i’m really glad it’s easy to pick up on!
- i think dick is secretly everyone’s favorite. he’s technically the older brother but since bruce was always emotionally unavailable he’s the type of older sibling that had to act like the dad. i definitely love the concept of overcompensating after jason’s death! i think the reason batsis is so extra close to dick is probably because she met him first. since she’s selena’s kid, she’s been around from the start so when bruce took in dick she was already there. granted, because of the ages she probably doesn’t remember the early beginning but that also means she essentially grew up with him.
- you’re right about her being close to age with tim their age difference is about 5 or 6 months, the way i kinda see their ages would be dick is 21, jason is 19, tim is 17, batsis is 16-17, and damian is 14. there’s definitely some rivalry, but it’s not much and nothing serious because batsis never tries to compete for anything academic with him and she doesn’t really have an official spot with the titans so they don’t have to compete there either. the only competition would be batman-related, and since it has to do with him they know not to let it get between them because quite frankly gotham isn’t worth their relationship
- damian met her at the same time he met bruce, so he was able to get used to them at the same time. it definitely sucked for him knowing that bruce was always more likely to choose selena over talia, but overtime he started to agree with the decision. i’d say there’s more rivalry between her and damian than there is between her and tim, simply because of damian’s ego. he loves her but he also sometimes feels the need to be the better blood-child, of course the rivalry is completely one-sided but i can imagine there being times when he’s taken it just a bit far. occasionally batsis will feel a little inferior because they don’t have the same skill-set as damian, but being a vigilante isn’t as important to them as it is to someone like batman. it matters, but not to the point where they’ll drive themself crazy.
- batsis does have a hero name! in this story it’s set as her being “bluejay” because it’s one of my favorite birds, they’re just so sassy!! as the for the “estranged from bruce” phase, she hasn’t been through it yet but i’m thinking this whole situation could definitely be what sets it off. she doesn’t necessarily feel like she’s in the shadow of her parents, but it has caused an identity crisis for her more than once! we’ve seen many times that bruce and selena have fairly different moral codes, and that’s made it really hard for batsis to navigate what she thinks is right or wrong and why she thinks that. she looks up to her parents, but she doesn’t want to be either of them. it’s especially hard because occasionally when she’s out with her mom, no one will trust her and will compare to her dad. and when she’s out with batman, things could easily be pinned on her because of her mom and the people she hangs around. i’d say it’s different from living in their shadows, but their choices heavily impact her life for sure.
- bruce and everyone really (except kinda jason bc he knows batsis doesn’t hang around the joker) don’t like it when batsis hangs around the villains and have tried to use her to get info on them, which has been hard on her because she doesn’t want to betray anyone’s trust. so, she tries really hard to separate her lives depending on who she’s hanging out with
- omg bruce “giving into temptation” was actually something i’m planning on writing about later on in the story!
- thank you, it might not work out for her but she’s definitely gonna try whatever she can
-omg yes, she just can’t bring herself to hate barbara and bruce because of all she’s been through with them. and if they never do what they did, then she doesn’t have to hate them! i’m so glad you think her character fits in with the batfamily!

ISLAM 101: Muslim Culture and Character: Morals And Manners: Part 9
JEALOUSY AND RIVALRY AMONG SIBLINGS
Quarreling among siblings may often be a result of their ages or stages of development. For example, the endless “why?” questions of a three-year-old may be intolerable for a ten-year-old sister or brother. Or, a small child who likes to sit quietly and play with their toys alone may naturally express annoyance when confronted by a headstrong adolescent sibling.
Another basic cause of contention is rivalry and jealousy among siblings. After all, jealousy has been a human condition since the beginning of time. Some people are mature and fully grown, but still, retain anger and resentment against those close to them. Since they have not been able to get over their childhood jealousy, feelings of resentment and envy have grown and changed shape; these could even be a threat to the community.
Sibling rivalry arises from a desire to compete for the affection of the parents. If one child is shown a great deal of affection from the parents, the other children will be jealous. But children do not demonstrate feelings of jealousy in a direct manner. A jealous child may feign affection toward their sibling. Such a child will often be inclined to try to hurt the brother or sister when no one else is around.
In the famous story in the Qur’an about Joseph, Joseph’s brothers tried to harm him, spurred on by jealousy. The Qur’an says, “Assuredly, in (this account of) Joseph and his brothers there are many signs (messages) for seekers of truth” (Yusuf 12:7).
As is well known, Prophet Jacob fathered twelve sons. However, Jacob discerned great potential in Joseph and therefore he paid greater attention to Joseph. Because this was obvious, the other brothers’ jealousy grew against Joseph. One night Joseph had a dream. When he woke he said to his father, “O my father! I saw in a dream eleven stars, as well as the sun and the moon: I saw them prostrating themselves before me” (Yusuf 12:4). Jacob thought about this dream, and he believed it meant God would give Joseph every kind of opportunity, bestowed on him a high level of honor and renown, and make him an important leader. Aware of the feelings of the other brothers toward Joseph, Jacob feared they would try to harm him. So he told him, “O my son! Do not relate your dream to your brothers, lest (out of envy) they devise a scheme against you. Satan is a manifest enemy to humankind (and can incite them to do such a thing)” (Yusuf 12:5). The Qur’an goes on to describe the plan the brothers hatched, a terrible example of just how far jealousy between siblings can go:
When they (the brothers addressing one another) said, “Joseph and his brother are indeed more loved by our father than we are, even though we are a powerful band (of greater use to him). Surely, our father is manifestly mistaken.” (One of them said:) “Kill Joseph, or cast him out in some distant land so that your father’s attention should turn only to you, and after that, you may again become righteous people.” (Yusuf 12:8–9)
It is the duty of parents to recognize when a child is jealous and watch for how it will be expressed. From this aspect, keeping tabs on the relations between siblings and keeping their bickering under control can be a very difficult task for a family.
Undeniably, jealousy is an emotion that is embedded in human nature. The important thing is to prevent this negative element from causing damage to children and their environment. The way to do this is to channel these tendencies toward the positive with self-discipline. It is difficult to put forward any general, practically feasible solutions for such situations, as they are very sensitive and complex. It is, of course, necessary, in principle, for parents to listen to children, try to understand the reasons for their behavior, and examine their own attitudes and approaches. Parents should develop the ability to see situations and conditions from their children’s perspective. Other things parents can do to neutralize jealousy are to prepare games that will help children spend their physical and emotional energy in positive ways and to praise children when they get
along well and have fun together. Here are a few more tips:
Avoid incorrect educational methods. For example, do not always take the part of the younger sibling or automatically blame the older sibling. Often if you intervene just to “save” the younger child, it gives rise to contention between them without you realizing it.  Further, you may not know whether it was actually the older child who instigated the problem or not. Accordingly, sensitivity and attention are necessary if we are to treat children equally. It is also good to give them a chance to solve their own problems; tell them you trust them to do so.
Be sure to spend equal amounts of time with each child every day. If one is jealous of the other’s time, tell them that you want to be with each child and their turn will come.
Take care to make a distinction between siblings, and not to hold the others responsible when only one is doing something wrong.
Avoid giving different treatment to girls and boys, giving more importance to one or the other or being more proud of one or the other. For example, parents may have a son after many daughters or a daughter after many sons; in such situations, they tend to love this youngest more or show more tolerance toward them. This naturally promotes problems between the children.

I accidentally posted this before it was done!
This is a little bit of what makes him jealous, and what he does haha. I hope this was okay!
Satan probably wouldn't be too thrilled at the prospect of sharing you with his siblings, but he'll come to terms with it eventually.
This means he doesn't really get jealous often, especially not with his younger brothers.
^^Levi and Mammon aren't what he'd consider to be threats either, so that just leaves Lucifer.
And boy, do these two go at it.
They actually tend to share the same worries and doubts, but they go about them completely different ways, which is why you'll often find them having little fights over the stupidest things.
Really it can all be written off as jealousy and pride, but there are some reoccurring specifics that you keep trying to settle, but never really succeed in nipping.
For instance, Satan specifically tends to get angry when he sees Lucifer buying you presents.
Lucifer doesn't do that often, but Satan tends to find himself competing for your attention by providing you with small tokens of affection. Key Chains, cute little pens, and even book marks are all things he loves to give out like kisses. Admittedly, when Lucifer begins to step into this territory, he can't help getting mad.
Especially when he sees how happy you are.
This goes for most things the wrath demon does. If he feels like Lucifer is attempting to beat him, or if you seem to be even the tiniest bit more receptive to Lucifer, he'll become incredibly petty.
Satan won't hesitate to step up the game then, because that's really all their rivalry is, one giant game of back and forth that you shouldn't worry about too much.
The only issue is that Satan tends to go a little further in intgating Lucifer then Lucifer would in an opposite scenario.
And you'd never catch Lucifer recruiting his younger brothers to conspire against Satan, but I digress...

Examples of Raphael's inferiority complex in Tmnt 2012
1) One clear example is in the first episode when Splinter chooses Leo to be the leader of the team.
Leo raises his hand and asks if he can lead the team, Raph is immediately upset by this and claims that he should be the leader since he "kicked Leo's butt" at the start of the episode.
Tumblr media
Seconds after Splinter chooses Leonardo to be the leader, Raph seems to be really hurt by this.
Tumblr media
Leo feels sorry about his brother and tries to say he has nothing against him. This shows that Leo is aware that Raph wanted to lead the team, is just Splinter thought that Leonardo was better suited for the role since he's more mature in some ways and knows how to carry the burden better.
This only makes Raph leave the dojo, he's clearly affected by this, even when he pretends he is not.
Tumblr media
This scene is what motivates him to constantly annoy and question Leonardo in the series, specially at the start of season 1.
One of the reasons he usually doesn't follow Leo's orders is because deep down he really thinks that Master Splinter loves more Leo than him, which is not true: Hamato Yoshi loves their sons equally but Raph doesn't feel this way.
One could argue that this comes from growing up with a single father and three brothers, which can lead to compete for their father's approval and love. This can happen unintentionally, the father may try to spent as much time as possible with each son but sometimes competition between siblings is inevitable.
Splinter doesn't approve this type of behaviour at all and usually tries stopping the turtles when he notices they aren't fighting just for training or fun. (See "Mousers Attack!" As a good example of this)
2) "New girl in the town"
The episode starts with Leo and Raph arguing about who should be the leader, Raph blames Leonardo for letting Snakeweed get away, in return Leo blames his brother for not following his orders like he's supossed to.
Tumblr media
Tired of Raphael's attitude, Leo lets him be the new leader and leaves the team.
Unlike "Follow the leader", "New girl in the town" seems to focus on their sibling rivalry since is what made Leo leave in first place.
The episode ends with two brothers coming to a mutual understading of what means to be a team, how being a leader is not always an easy task and not everyone is ready to be one. (In Raph's case)
This one is another good example of Raph thinking he should be the one giving the orders, implying he's jealous of his brother and thoughout the episode he tries to prove he's better than Leo.
3) "The good, the bad and Casey Jones"
This episode starts pretty much the same way that Rise of the turtles does: With the turtles training. The difference here is that this time is the one Leonardo who beats Raphael.
And Raph doesn't like it one bit.
Tumblr media
This is his expression after Leo wins the game, which reads as him holding a grudge against the other turtle.
Tumblr media
What makes him really angry is watching Leonardo sitting in front of Splinter, making him believe that his brother is somehow "stealing" his father's love from him again.
Tumblr media
This implies that one of the roots of Raphael's anger issues is caused by his feelings of jealousy and inferiority that come from this sibling rivalry.
I say is *one*, not the *only* reason. Raph is a very emotional character who feels emotions intensely, is very hard for him to hide them and his family know this very well.
After realizing how destructive his anger is, he later awkwardly apologizes to Leo for getting carried away in the match, which is quite impressive considering Raph is quite stubborn when it comes to admitting he did something wrong.
4) "Riddle of the Ancient Aeons"
youtube
In the planet of the Aeons, there's dark aura that makes the protagonists bring their darkest thoughts to the surface and fight against each other.
In one moment Leo and Raph start arguing: Leo tells Raph how "he has always been jealous of him", in response Raph says this: "That's because your were always Splinter's favourite"! And then he tries to fight Leo using his sais.
Instead of fighting him, Leo stops his hot-headed brother by giving him a hug and reminding him of how much he loves him.
This was one of the few times Raph was very explicit about his inferiority complex, most of time he tries hiding it from his family and only drops subtle hints about his real feelings.
Leo's reaction to Raphael's outburst is really unexpected as well, it mades me think that Leonardo didn't know that Raph's insecurities were mainly caused by him feeling he was less important or thinking he wasn't good enough for their father.
He hugging and telling Raph: "I love you, bro" could be read as him trying to say that he doesn't hate Raphael and he didn't mean to make him feel "less loved" by Splinter.
For those who were paying attention to Raph's character, him being jealous of Leonardo is nothing new. What is shocking is actually listening to Raph admitting how he really feels (or felt) in front of his family and friends.
He usually prefers to keep his personal thoughts to himself rather than talk about them with another person.
As for Splinter, he doesn't like watching his sons fighting over him or for no reason. When he saw that Raph and Leo started fighting in "Mousers Attack!" And weren't taking their training seriously, he stopped them and asked them to work together as team.
When it comes to Leo and Raph, Splinter just wants them to get along despite their differences. If they get carried away in their matches, Splinter would ask them to stop or intervene to separate them.
It's not that he "loves Raphael less", is that he thinks Leonardo is more responsible to be the leader of the team. He doesn't have a "favourite son", he really loves ALL of them.

obsetress: just a happy lil hum and an "i did, though"
obsetress: and jamie knows IMMEDIATELY what she's talking about
em: dani never lets jamie live it down
obsetress: never!
obsetress: they'll be washing dishes one day "hey baby?" "hmm" "you slept with a landlord"
em: oh um. flipping the whole ‘experienced jamie virginal dani’ trope everyone loves but

em: like a viola that never gets therapy
obsetress: lldjfkaskldfj god same
obsetress: it's too good
em: danis like wait hold on. lemme get a pen
em: makes a silly little chart
em: if the fandom tries to make jamie into a shane the l word character i will simply take that and make jamie mortified abt her uh. well! a pretty girl is nice to her and she forgets how to behave
em: jamie's like oh sure like u don’t have embarrassing flings- and danis like yeah but i don’t interact w them on a daily basis jamie

sup. since now you're making the bullies be less of a single character and more like their own person, i wanna ask for hcs for them competing against each other for their darling's heart. i mean, would they become even nastier with y/n? become softer? which each of them have as an advantage? would this sort of fight between them tarnish their relationship forever or once y/n choose someone the other would be fine with it? feel free to ignore if you have too many requests tho - 🇧🇷
At the moment I have many requests, but even so, I don't mind y'all sending me requests, I'm more worried about answering y'all in time, so I turned the ask box off but only so I could take my time.
I'm sorry boo but- I think in a way this isn't what you were expecting, and I'm sorry but I just couldn't find out exactly how to write this one.
TW/Tags: classical twin rivalry // some sparkle of unrequited love and depression that comes with it.

Twin Rivalry [Yandere!Bully OC x Reader - Headcanon/Discussion]:
If the thought of their own sibling wanting to steal their darling away even crosses their mind, hell will break loose in the Coldwell mansion.
Look, they aren't ones for sharing, they would rather die than share you. They may work in "peaceful terms" for some time, but when the moment comes for you to decide which is the one you'll choose, they'll show no sympathy for each other.
There is a possibility this will end in a peaceful way, but the likeability of you getting kidnapped over and over again each time by a different twin is very high too.
I think their fights would end up resulting in the Reader getting overwhelmed, being in between love rivals is not a good idea. When they notice that you're overly exhausted because of their fault, they'll change strategies.
Instead of fighting with each other, they would focus on winning over your heart, by all means necessary.
→ Adrien Coldwell:
Adrien is a calm man, he would never let something as foolish as jealousy get over his head.
Well, that was a lie.
Adrien's strengths are probably not the best when compared to his sister, as he tends to rely on his own luck instead of wisdom.
But don't you dare underestimate him yet, he is really determined to catch his darling, even if it means making more effort than he is used to.
He knows that he can take his time and actually consider the best course of action before jumping to any conclusion. I guess his laziness helps him be a little more patient.
If you choose Alexandra over him, he'll be pretty mad but more depressed than truly pissed at you. Why would you choose her? She is loud and annoying, he could treat you so much better than her.
Whatever, he doesn't care… Well, at least he wants you to believe he doesn't care.
This would cause him to seek attention from others, trying desperately to act as if everything is fine and that he doesn't need you at all, when he clearly does.
→ Alexandra Coldwell:
Alexandra is a smart person when it comes to a lot of things, but romance? It's not one of them.
Alexandra is more of an athletic person, yet she can be pretty smart and if she took her time slowly and actually analised things with patience, she could make a great Darling Hunter™.
The thing is that she is so energetic and is too impatient for that. Her brother is better at the wait and listen carefully department while Alexandra is best at her physical department.
If you choose Adrien over her, she would be clearly pissed. Yelling, scolding, throwing a tantrum, and after getting her anger out she would soon start to show truly devastated she is.
Why would you choose her apathetic brother who would never be able to appreciate you as much as she does?? Are you blind or just stupid?
This would cause her to become more silent, more quiet. The popular and flirty Alexandra was now a pitiful shy pushover. To say she is depressed would be an understatement.
I think that both twins would drop the bully persona slowly after you decided which one you would want to be with. The other would have to grow up and swallow their pride and move on. Or just break havoc and try to fight for you one last time before giving up.
I think that if they managed to move on, their relationship would be fine at least. There is a secret amount of distrust coming from each side, since one thinks the other will steal you from them, and the other has probably learned how truly obsessive they were with you (and probably consider that this is not the healthiest way to be in a relationship with someone).
If they try to convince you even after the other has already "won", not only would their relationship be heavily tarnished but the likeability of it ending in a gruesome way is too high for comfort.
Because the twins have the mentality that you should have been with them at the very start they would take some time to realize that they are wrong, slowly coming to terms with the fact that you're also human and deserve just as much respect as they do.

So I’ve been thinking a lot about fictional royalty, and
you know what I think is a really underutilized character type? The High Queen trope. The regal, elegant, beautiful monarch who is always at the forefront of her nation’s court, who knows how to come across as unspeakably regal and eloquent while never appearing submissive or weak-willed, who runs her kingdom well and captures the hearts and minds of her people without ever making obvious mistakes or facing serious public criticism. I know this archetype appears a lot in fiction, especially in fantasy and anything else set in a vaguely medieval world, but these women are so rarely the protagonists—more often than not, they’re background characters who act more like aesthetic props than actual people, quest-dispensing machines who outsource everything to the resident band of actual heroes, or mentor types who only exist to educate the real MCs or serve as foils to Rebellious Princesses. And that really disappoints me, because The High Queen just has so much potential as a POV character. I mean, honestly, consider:
How does a monarch rule so well that they’re universally beloved by everyone in the kingdom, especially in times of widespread discontent? What must this woman do every day to ensure her people continue to adore her no matter what happens? Which strings does she have to pull to keep her approval ratings so high all the time? This isn’t a sarcastic criticism of these characters’ in-universe popularity—I genuinely think it’d be really interesting to explore what a monarch has to do in order to be beloved by literally everyone. After all, there’s no way to really please everybody at once; the laws that benefit the wealthy and powerful do not benefit the commoners and vise versa, and for anyone on the throne, keeping your keys to power happy while ensuring the poor are fed is a delicate balancing act. How does this woman keep herself in power and avoid upsetting the noble class, while ensuring that the peasantry still adore her?
How does The High Queen feel about monarchy in general? High Queens are often educated, benevolent, and well aware of the power they hold. It’s not too far-fetched to think that someone in this position might understand the issues inherent to absolute monarchies, especially if she has family members or peers who take advantage of their statuses and abuse their power. If The High Queen knows that autocratic monarchies are not ideal forms of government, how does she cope with the cognitive dissonance of acting as a monarch while knowing that it’s a bad system? Does she try to justify it in her own head, claiming that alternative forms of government like democracy are just too inefficient? Does she say that she’s a good ruler, and that’s all that matters? Does the thought of her children inheriting her power disturb her?
What does she feel about governing in the first place? Does she enjoy it, or does she view it as her duty—something she was born to do, even if she hates it? Does she take pleasure in commanding people around her, or does she secretly wish she could have a different life? Does she envy commoners for their perceived lack of responsibilities, or does she pity them because they don’t have wealth and power like her? Many High Queens have a certain humility to them—they don’t look down on the lower classes or make their power obvious, but it seems like everyone recognizes them as being noble anyway, no matter how little they actually try to cultivate that image. Is the High Queen really humble, or is she playing a game of humility, knowing that to be humble is to be popular and sympathetic? How does she maintain her image as a beautiful, ethereal royal without coming across as a snob?
How does she maintain her pristine image? Beauty takes time, effort, and work, and so does cultivating a perfect reputation. What maddeningly expensive and time-sucking routines does she have to complete in order to appear so perfect? What tricks does she use to ensure she’s never anything but gorgeous and graceful? In modern settings, I kind of love the idea of a woman who’s constantly surrounding herself with beautiful people, manipulating camera angles, and hiring entire teams to help her keep up appearances—not because she’s vain, but because she’s a role model for so many people, and she understands that image matters. If you want to be seen as a dainty, effervescent, delicate beauty, you have to put in an enormous amount of work and time so everything you do flatters you and contributes to that image.
How does she cope with potentially having to break her own moral code? No matter how competent you are as a leader, you’ll probably have to face a problem where there are no good solutions at some point—especially if you’re ruling an entire country during a time of conflict. What does she do when every option is bad, and every decision she can make will wind up hurting someone? And autocracies are corrupt almost by nature, because if you want to stay on the throne, you have to convince your keys to power that you’re worth keeping there. In an absolute monarchy, the keys aren’t voting blocs, they’re important men and women who can stage rebellions against rulers they don’t like. How does The High Queen deal with having to pay off and favor influential people, sometimes at the expense of her own citizens? If she refuses to pay the keys, they’ll rebel, but every cent she gives them could have been spent on the innocent commoners she’s supposed to be protecting.
How has her position affected her relationships with her family and loved ones? She probably has siblings and cousins who rank lower than her at court; are they envious of her? Is she envious of them? Does she even get along with anyone in her family on a personal level, or does the jealousy and awkwardness of having siblings and cousins that outrank one another mean that having positive relationships in the family is next to impossible? Does she have to watch her children develop rivalries over who will inherit the throne, and does it worry her when they squabble, because brotherly disagreements can spiral into all-out wars? Does she have to tell her younger children that they will simply never achieve the rank their eldest sibling will one day inherit? Does she see anything wrong with this? If she does, does she do anything to change it?
I don’t know, this post went on a lot longer than I expected and it’s kind of a wall of text by now. But I think it’d be really interesting to take a closer look at characters like The High Queen, because there are so many cool dynamics and personal struggles to explore here. I tried to do some of this with my Acidalia, but I still wish I saw characters like these more. Rebellious Princesses are fine, but they get kind of cliche after a while, you know?

I truly love this 101 Yodito AU! (what's better than 1 Baby Yoda? 101 of them!). So I know you mentioned that OG Yodito gets jealous sometimes, but do his brothers ever get jealous of him? Because he and Dad maybe have inside jokes or stuff like that?
100% agree that the only thing better than one Baby Yoda is MANY Baby Yodas!!!
Sibling rivalries and jealousy take up a massive amount of Din’s time.  My own students get jealous at times when I have to divide my attention between 18 of them; Din has 101.  So he’s always de-ruffling feathers and managing some Emotional Issue or other and that includes OG vs. the 100.  There is definitely jealousy of the oldest and the sense that “he gets more of Dad’s time than me” among a lot of them; OG Yodito is pretty familiar with Din at this point and as the eldest, has mastered the art of pushing the boundaries just enough before Din starts dealing out consequences, then bailing and leaving his little siblings to take the fall.  He has been on more adventures with Dad and definitely preens and brags about it (bet Dad never took any of you to a stormtrooper shootout).  He also definitely uses his status to push his siblings away and nab the primo spot on Dad’s lap (but only when Din’s not looking).  Din tries to encourage him to set a good example for his brothers and praises him more when he’s being a good big brother....but he is sneaking and conniving and the younger ones know not to let their guard down when OG is on a quest to nab the best toy or Dad’s attention.
As for Din’s part, he always works to be as fair as possible and make sure no one ever feels let out.  But it’s undeniable that OG Yodito was his first and their bond is a little different because of all they’ve been through together.  Plus OG is insecure about his place in Dad’s affections with 100 brothers to compete with, so Din does try to give him a little special attention from time to time to assure him that even with 100 brothers, Din still has enough love for all of them.

Pluto: Where is your power lost? Where can it be won back?
Let’s talk about Pluto! Pluto, to me, represents everything it has been mythologically and culturally assigned to—the underworld, the shadow side, the darkest parts of ourselves, the selves we wish to hide or keep contained from others, death, taboo, mystery, power struggles, and so on, but above all else, to me, where the planet falls in a house demonstrates the arena in which we feel the most powerless. The house where Pluto falls in shows us the themes we will grapple with and indicates the obstacles and struggles that may arise. Gratefully, Pluto also represents in the chart the area where we can most empower ourselves and elevate our lives and our dignity if we find a way to turn what disempowers us into our strength and make it part of our story, our story of victory, instead of a lesson of our defeat, our story of failure. Pluto shows us where we can triumph if we find a way to revolutionize or otherwise radically transform/change ourselves internally, despite our external challenges. For example, if Pluto falls in the 4th house, it may indicate that a person feels most powerless or defeated in situations involving family. One may be estranged from one’s family or have a difficult relationship with one’s mother or stepfather, for instance, but due to financial, emotional, or other reasons, such person is unable to liberate himself from his family and be free of a toxic home life. He thus feels resentful not only by the fact that his environment limits him, but by the fact that he cannot escape or change his environment. His transformation may come through the act of juggling multiple endeavors to support himself until he is physically and emotionally able to remove himself from his unfit guardians and cultivate his own family through his individual selection of trusted people he names “adopted family.” Someone with Pluto in the 8th house may feel powerless over death. Such person may undergo countless tragedy in the form of losing people close to him. He may lose his mother, aunt, younger brother, cousin, close friend, mentor, etc. through the course of his life, and so on. He may feel like he has no control over the lives of people he meets, and be plagued by the thought of forming attachments with other people, due to the fear that they, too, will die if he develops a closeness with them. His fear of death (not even necessarily his own) may evolve into a fear of connection and intimacy, another 8th house theme. He can overcome this fear or powerlessness through re-examining his basic safety, comfort, and survival needs, so when he reevaluates o reassesses his proximity to death, he sees not the history of all those who have passed before him, but the potential to live as though he is dying, not wasting a single minute, relating to himself and others with a newfound depth and urgency. He can form fierce, meaningful, powerful connections that allow him to interact and engage with people without being held back by the immediacy of crisis or the threat of future death. His knowledge that the future is uncertain can give him resistance to the notion of being extinguished, causing him to live relentlessly and with vulnerability in search for deeper truth. Death may ignite a fury or appreciation within me for living. He may, as the familiar poem goes, “not go good into that gentle night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light.” Impermanence of life makes him full of the desire to build something stable, solid, and long-term. He finds longevity in essence and the impact he leaves on others and they in turn impress on him. This gives him life and intense pleasure. Life becomes about energy and constancy in spite of inconstancy and transformation. He cultivates resilience and strength/temerity of character. Someone with Pluto in the 9th house may feel disempowered in light of others’ ideology/belief systems or in the field of higher faith or science or education. This person may feel constantly tested or undermined by religious notions or organizations and possibly even the notion of God or higher power. This person may, alternatively, derive immense inner strength and fortitude by believing in God or higher power or the Spirit. This person may also form his own introspective, unique thoughts about life and produce philosophies or inquiries about the nature of existence. He could derive great fame or fortune or success or influence from disseminating his views, albeit controversial, whether positive or negative. In fact, he is sure to be polarizing. Nonetheless, his ideas will generate significant outreach due to the distinctiveness of his voice or message. His spirituality may be called into question, abandoned, or adopted. This person may struggle at school/in formal education, not necessarily academically, but in terms of curriculum. The native may not agree with what he is being taught or feel like he cannot learn via compulsory schooling. He may thrive in more organic settings where, opposed to sitting in a lecture or taking notes off a PowerPoint, for instance, he may be asked to design a project implementing his ideas or approach to something or invent a novel way to problem-solve an application. This, to him, may be a better use of his time, energy, and creativity. He may also flourish in home-schooling or alternative schooling, trade schools, or special schools. Pluto in the 9th house people are some of the most likely to be successful high school of college dropouts. They have their own unique mission in life, and discovering it is their source of power. This person may feel restricted in environments where he is subject to other people’s beliefs or so-called knowledge, such as when someone insists fascism is the right way to live, for instance, and he argues socialism is the right way. He has to learn to contend with other people’s viewpoints, however challenging to hear he believes them to be, without feeling the urge to change or compel them, despite whether he believes himself to be right and they wrong. Other people don’t have to believe what he believes and he shouldn’t feel obligated or righteous enough to attempt to sway or influence them. He will find his personal power when he is able to separate the actions and beliefs and opinions of others without feeling the need to compete with, attack, or obliterate them. There isn’t always a “winner.” Not everything needs to be contested or debated, and sometimes, it really is best to say nothing at all. Pluto in the 3rd house may feel intimidated, pressured, or controlled in situations involving siblings or local spaces or regional transportation or informal school as opposed to higher education. For instance, one may be significantly older than her sister and may be forced to help her parents raise her due to her family being large, or, her sister may have been made an orphan after their parents died in a tragic car accident, and she thus may have been forced to intervene and take custody of her sibling to avoid the younger girl ending up in the foster system. She may resent having to take care of someone else as an adult when she is not even fully able to provide for herself and her own needs, or she may have difficulty relating to her younger sibling because of their large gap, and thus find herself in the mother role instead of the big-sister role. She can see this as an unfair constraint, upon her own resources, time, and happiness. Or, in a different scenario, the Pluto in the 3rd house person may have parents who divorced when she was a child and one of her parents, say her father, remarried and her stepmother brought in 3 children of her own. This person may feel abandoned by her own father, especially if her mother remained her primary caregiver and her father acted as a birth parent to his stepchildren, treating her as an adopted or stepchild. She may resent her step-siblings for being closer to her father and in her eyes, ‘stealing’ her dad away from her. Tension between her siblings and herself could cause her to feel troubled or indignant and unable to change this deeply unsettling feeling of being replaced that dwells inside her and eats her up from the inside. Rather than letting this jealousy or envy consume and ravage her insides, she can overcome this tribulation by fostering an intense self-love within herself and finding stimulating mental activities and hobbies (as Mercury traditionally rules the 3rd house) that make her feel powerful. For example, let’s say she begins to read and write, eventually crafting a memoir about her experiences and it turns into a bestseller. Or, perhaps, though, this is petty, she joins the chess or debate team at her school along with her siblings and constantly crushes them at debates or chess. She will have thus found a way to transcend those setbacks that made her feel defeated and less important, by becoming the best in a field or championing her story or becoming victorious in publishing or some type of Mercury-related field. She will have attained some sort of dominance or recognition and will no longer see herself as second-best in terms of her parents’ eyes/her father’s treatment of her. And who wouldn’t like to be the most successful sibling? The one who introduced the world to the family name? Sibling rivalry/competition can be healthy. Pluto often brings the potential for struggle and demise and defeat, but it also overrules comebacks and success stories and the champions the role of the underdog. There is no ‘failure’ or setback that cannot be overcome with Pluto, so long as one transforms and generates a second skin, so to speak. Pluto is a test, and you can’t ace every test, but you can’t flunk them all either.

How would Itachi, Shisui, Hashirama, Obito, Naruto, Shikamaru, Darui, Killer Bee, Neji, and Gaara react to having to compete for their crush's attention because they have a love rival?
Itachi
-When it comes to having a person of interest, he won’t pursue as much if there is another person who likes his crush
-He would be more laid back than the other person, making sure that his crush is comfortable
-If the other person noticed and began making a “rivalry” with Itachi, Itachi would most likely just ignore them for the most part or act civil to them (but inside he would have a bit of jealousy)
Shisui
-Dude this Uchiha bean is so expressive that he would show his displeasure of having to compete for his crush’s attention
-He would be the guy that annoys the one he is “rivals” with
-Shisui can be petty too, small pettiness though. Like interrupting his crush’s conversation with the other, or getting gifts that he knows his crush will show off
Hashirama
-He probably wouldn’t even notice that someone else liked his crush, and even if he did he wouldn’t make it known that he knows
-If that crush doesn’t show interest in him in that way, then he will act as a friend but still. He is so forgiving and kind if they don’t show interest they don’t know what they will be missing
Obito
-If it is pre-evil mode Obito then he will act like how he did with Kakashi. So basically, a nuisance but a needed nuisance
-If it is revenge mode Obito then he will probably just kill the other person. But he would do it in a way that his crush wouldn’t know he was dead (go missing or something) or his crush wouldn’t know that Obito was the one who killed the other
Naruto
-In pre-shipp he would behave as he did with Sasuke. So jealous, loud, and very noticeable
-Would offer more dates to his crush
-In shipp he would be civil but an obnoxious civil. By that, he would be that “friend” who wants to know everything about you so he can scope out what he is dealing with
Shikamaru
-It is rare enough that he shows interest in anyone (or anything), so his crush must be unique in some way that has caught his interest
-He would only spare glances at the other person, already having analyzed him and developed a mild dislike for him. Shikamaru would also probably hang around his crush more often than usual (so let’s say he used to for 2 hours now he will for 3 or 4 hours a day)
-Always sighs softly when the “rival” comes near
Darui
-So with Darui and a love rival, it can play two way:
He will either back away from his crush, believing it isn’t worth it
He will stay at the normal pace he has been going
-If he actually really cares for his crush then he will be upfront and ask his crush if they are interested. That way he won’t have to deal with a drab rival and he will get an answer (albeit an awkward response as it was probably not expected)
Bee
-He is way too open and would just tell the other person to back off (and trust me when I say you do want to back off or he will be eight tails of annoyance)
-When he first notices he would ask his crush about the other person and determine if he likes that person or not (but either way he will claim his crush as his goal)
Neji
-Neji is observant and can be harsh. So when he first noticed that someone was going for his crush (which is almost immediately when the other person developed an interest) he would walk up beside his person of interest while giving a Hyuga glare at the other person
-If the other person tries to be cross with him, then he will slice into him with words that are sooo belittling
-Life lesson: don’t be interested in Neji’s crush. It will end poorly
Gaara
-He is still pretty new to the whole understanding emotions thing. So he would understand that he feels differently about his crush than other people but he wouldn’t understand what it means
-When he saw the other person standing close by his crush and talking happily with them, he got a negative feeling that he was a bit shocked at
-So he brings it up with his siblings and they tease while explaining and he is just like:
Tumblr media
-Then he starts hanging around his crush more often (when he can because he is Kazekage after all) or inviting them to his office for a small picnic

#23: Season 3, Episode 3 - “My Best Friend’s Girlfriend”
Twitty’s new relationship with Allison Wong starts monopolizing his free time and Louis' jealousy emerges once again. Meanwhile, Ren and Donnie get caught up in some heated sibling rivalry for a change!
Tumblr media
I love when “kid” shows grow up a bit and we get to see our characters in juicy situations -- Like, immature middle school relationships. LET’S GET INTO THE DRAMA!
We see that Louis and Twitty have found a hobby in "foam-hunk diving." Don't even tell me you didn't want to try this (or STILL want to try this.) If there's one thing we can all agree on, it's that this episode inspired us all to foam hunk dive:
Tumblr media
One day during their routine excursion, Twitty notices Allison Wong standing nearby. It's so ridiculous (and slightly inappropriate?) how they have her drink from a water bottle in slow-mo while a deep voice sings "ohhhh, babehhhh" in the background. This is Even Stevens, not Baywatch. Louis encourages Twitty to go talk to her. Their conversation is awkward -- complete with a foam hunk sticking out of Twitty's neck. And I use the word "conversation" lightly because it's literally exactly what you'd expect interaction between two 8th graders to be like (a.k.a. The smallest small talk ever.) But, that's apparently all it takes for Twitty to return to Louis with the good news "She likes me!" and they celebrate by flailing around in packaging materials, as all mature men do.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I would also like to point out the incredible name for the packing supply warehouse, which I just noticed today:
Tumblr media
“PACKRAMENTO Packing Supplies” - Not only is the totally legit logo abnormally bright, terribly superimposed, and made on Microsoft Paint... but it’s one of the greatest and worst puns I’ve ever heard.
Then it cuts to the subplot, where Donnie is preparing to give a rock climbing demonstration on... a giant rock wall that they've named after him. Why? I have so many questions. Was Donnie the school's star rock climber too? What middle school even has a rock climbing program? Lawrence Jr. High does because this is Even Stevens, fool.
Everyone is there in the stands, including Twitty and Allison who have already started dating??? They're cozying up to each other and everything already.
Tumblr media
ok they’re honestly pretty cute tho
Just as Donnie is about to do his demonstration, coach Tugnut interjects and performs a cheer for Donnie. This is so disturbing, lol. The opening line is "Donnie Stevens, muscles that bulge" - CALM DOWN, TUGNUT. He also says “Leading his teammates to a steamy hot shower!” Again: Holy crap, Disney. What de heck. Tugnut was definitely a coded gay character... and an unfortunately creepy one at that, dang.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wexler, Donnie, and Tawny are me.
He then insists that Donnie doesn't ~shine~ without an opponent, so Ren unwillingly volunteers by jumping up and screaming at the top of her lungs after Louis pours ice down the back of her shirt. This leads to a "family grudge match" (Tugnut's words) between brother and sister, which we seldom see and it's a cool lil switcheroo! The sibling rivalry is always centered around Louis and Ren specifically. So it's interesting to see what that dynamic is like between Ren and Donnie. Like, you forget that Louis and Ren have a brother sometimes! To Donnie's shock and embarrassment, Ren beats him. Uh oh. This births the main through-line of the subplot which is the two of them competing at literally everything ever in life after that because Donnie is being a sore loser.
Tumblr media
At lunch that day, Louis’ jealousy takes center stage when Twitty invites Allison to eat with them. They’re all giggly and lovey dovey -- gushing about the fact that both of their names start with “Al” and they love strawberry ice cream but hate vanilla. Ya know, the kind of solid foundation all enduring relationships are built on. Louis ain’t havin’ it. Twitty even says that the two of them are going to craft club after school, when he usually goes to Louis’ house. God forbid.
Tumblr media
This scene also brought us one of my favorite Louis gifs:
Tumblr media
I can taste the salt from here. No one wears jealousy as strong as Louis Stevens.
I’m just gonna wrap up the subplot now, like I usually do.. because they’re always much shorter than the main plot and so intermittent that it’s just annoying (and extra work for me lol) to keep going back and forth! Sooo yeah. Basically Donnie starts an unofficial battle against Ren over everything: Like who can put away groceries the fastest and a spur of the moment limbo challenge. I love the limbo scene, because how on earth is Steve in regular clothes one second and tropical vacation clothes complete with a coconut drink the next? Because this is Even Stevens, fool.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“This is like that impromptu family fun you see on television!” Steve says, as we watch them have impromptu family fun on television. That’s some sorta fourth wall type joke right there.
Donnie ultimately challenges Ren to a rock climbing rematch... and she beats him fair and square again. Donnie is cool with it this time around and adjusts his negative attitude towards losing! Yay! I also forgot to mention that Tugnut very harshly slapped Donnie’s butt before he started climbing at both matches. Yikes. Ren and Donnie are all happy and proud of themselves for not letting competition come between them, and Tugnut is miserable over precious Donnie losing to his sister. They should probably rename it the Ren Stevens Rock Climbing Wall though. The person it’s named after couldn’t even climb it successfully.
Tumblr media
I love this. It’s so nice, tbh. The end!
Back to the Twitty and Allison drama. Twitty stops by the Stevens house after craft club and brings Allison along with him. Louis just about dies. He just can’t handle it at all. I’d like to mention that Louis was reading a “swimsuit edition” of Steve’s bird watching magazine as Twitty walked in??? What? Is it just pictures of girls in bikinis posing with birds? Why is that a thing? Because THIS IS EVEN STEVENS, FOOL. Twitty also brought a wind chime he made using sea glass and Allison puts it to the left of Louis’ bed. Later in the scene, Louis walks to the right of his bed and the wind chime hits him in the head. Twitty forgot to mention he also installed a brain and legs into the wind chime. This whole scene is kinda sad though because Louis tries to hang out with them, but everything he suggests is only suited for two people. Like a bunch of hilariously titled board games: “2 On a Plank,” “Two to Tango,” “Third Wheel,” and “Odd Man Out.” Sounds like a fun time!

I love how “2 On a Plank” shows, like.. 5 people on the side of the box.
Louis clearly doesn’t know how to be alone or allow his friends to have other friends/significant others, so he immediately decides to replace Twitty any way he can -- Starting with asking Tawny to date him again. “As of right now, you and I are officially back on!” Tawny can see right through him as usual and tries to make him see that he doesn’t want a girlfriend, he’s just using her to fill the void. There’s a great bit here when Louis presents a daisy to Tawny and refers to it as a rose lol. That moment has been gif’d and literally has 400k+ notes on here! Wowie!
Tumblr media
Tawny’s words of wisdom fall on deaf ears because Louis turns around right away and runs to Tom as a last resort. “Welp, now you’re officially my best friend!” he tells him. As if it’s that easy. Despite sort of being friends, (I say ‘sort of’ because Louis tends to treat Tom like poo on his shoe) the two of them obviously don’t have much in common and Tom is way too uptight to be bffs with Louis. Tom is absolutely elated to have a “best friend,” though. :( He asks Louis if they should talk to each other before school in the morning to make sure they don’t wear the same thing, but Louis insists that’s not gonna happen. And he’s right... the chances of that happening are literally zero. But leave it to Tom to somehow manage to take “best friends” to the next level:
Tumblr media
I’ll never understand how or why this happens on TV shows all the time.
Louis tries to take Tom foam hunk diving with him, but Tom’s uptight nature sucks the fun out of everything. So much so, Louis just ends their new best-friendship right then and there. There’s only one thing I dislike about this episode, and that’s the way Louis treats Tom. As usual. It’s pretty hilarious though... Tom says he can’t hop the fence because he doesn’t have his fence climbing gloves. Oh my god.
Louis attempts to go dive by himself, but it’s just not the same. It also makes him look like a crazy person flailing around in hunks of foam and beaming with joy by himself. I’d like to point out that “Louis” does a flip into the hunks, except it’s definitely not Shia:
Tumblr media
Shia couldn’t do his own stunts??? lol. The flip was pretty simple! This dude’s wig is so different from Shia’s hair and he has a receding hairline.
Just then, Louis hides as Twitty shows up with Allison and surprises her with the vat of foam hunks. She’s seriously unimpressed. She calls the idea of jumping into it stupid. One thing leads to another and they decide to break up, dramatically parting ways.
Tumblr media
I love how this screencap really illustrates that it was the foam hunks that tore them apart. Imagine? “How did your marriage end again?” “My wife wouldn’t jump in a tub of packaging materials with me.” -- This is why middle schoolers aren’t ready for relationships.
Louis is beyond happy that they broke up at first. He’s just excited to have his best friend back. But, unfortunately.. all Twitty can do afterwards is mope around. He can’t stop thinking about Allison. This brings us to the end of the episode and the reason why I really like this one. In the end, Louis decides to put his friend’s feelings before his own and convinces Allison to go foam hunk diving with them. Awww. She pops up out of nowhere and pleasantly surprises Twitty! Tom shows up too and the four of them have a good old fashioned blast.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s like when friends get caught in the rain and have a cinematic, grand old time -- except this is Even Stevens so it’s foam hunks that fall instead.
And that’s it! Idk man, I just always liked this episode. I’ve said it a million times but I live for teen drama lol. It’s just refreshing and entertaining whenever this show decides to explore relationships. We get to see quite a few here as well! There’s Twitty and Allison of course. But then there’s Louis and Twitty’s friendship, as well as Ren and Donnie’s rivalry. This one is kinda stuffed to the brim with it, but I really enjoy the main plot. Even though Louis was super jealous the whole time, the resolution always makes me happy. Just goes to show that he’s a good friend, even though selfishness can get the better of him sometimes. This episode also kinda doubles as a Twitty plot which is cool. Oh, and Shia does his “WAHHHH-HA-HA-OOOOOO!” scream at least 10 times in this episode. Five of which are in the first 2 minutes, so there’s that. I actually just realized that this episode is basically the same plot as All About Yvette, except reversed and less cheesy. I feel like I mention that episode a lot for some reason lol.
I also want to let you guys know that I’ve created a Redbubble account to start selling some Even Stevens-related designs/products. I’ve been working really hard on the designs and cannot wait to post them!! Ahhh. I have so many ideas! haha. (Like *cough* Twitty-Stevens Connection band merch *cough*) It’s gonna be fun. I was inspired to do so because I saw that Lizzie McGuire, That’s So Raven and other Disney Channel “classics” have some new official merch for sale through Hot Topic. But of course... Even Stevens gets nothing. So once again, I’m taking matters into my own hands here lol. I always try to search for Even Stevens merch, but I can never find anything. So I’m making these products for myself as much as I’m making them for y’all. I’ll be sure to let you know when the stuff is posted.
ALSO Brookwell/McNamara (the show’s production team) followed the blog on Twitter. I feel so validated and ~official.~
Thanks for reading! As always, I encourage you to chime in via Disqus below.

I was reading that wiki article from a couple weeks ago, and as I did, something clicked. And like, I think I figured out what sparked Daffy’s shift from being this happy-go-lucky goofball to an attention seeking super jerk lol. It makes sense to me anyways!
Okay, so like if anyone reads this whole thing, I’ll be super flattered lmao. But I was reading that article (that was sent to me in an ask a loooong time ago) and thinking about it, and a couple of things stuck out to me that made sense. Like, in the article it mentions that some of the reasons a person might develop a compulsive need for attention and praise are: 1) because of a perceived lack of worth 2) dependency on the approval of parents
There are other factors that can lend to it, but those two are the major ones in Daffy’s case. And I’ve actually mentioned this before, in one-shots about how he misses his animators and is really reminiscent and fondly nostalgic for the Golden Age. He loves his animators. So much lol. He’s so attached to them. His humans! ♥ That treated himself and his friends like their children, despite all the discrimination that toons were undergoing in that time-period! He respects them so much to this day, and he’d always be looking to them for approval. He was always happiest when they were cheering him on, which they always did.
Back in the 40s, when he was at the height of his popularity and Bugs was still establishing himself at the studio, Daffy was the top-dog at WB. The public adored him, but beyond that, his animators were so incredibly proud of him. They just showered him with attention-- at least, that’s how he perceived it. But he could see that he was doing really well, and he could see how happy his animators were with him, and of course that made him happy in turn.
Then, as the war ramped up and Bugs skyrocketed in popularity, more and more of the spotlight began shifting away from him and onto Bugs. Then, suddenly, Bugs was center-stage. The production of his cartoons slowed down in favor of Bugs’, as the public really resonated with him during wartime. And for the first time in his life, Daffy felt pushed out of the public eye. I think his animators would have seen this, too -- that Daffy was beginning to feel neglected -- so, out of their want for him to be happy, they began pairing him with Bugs in cartoons, as a way to get him back into the public eye.
Of course, whereas with Porky, who Daffy could trick and get the upper-hand over without much trouble -- Bugs was far too witty and clever for Daffy to outsmart. So again, for the first time, he shifted roles from the trickster to the one being tricked. It wasn’t something he was used to.
From then on, whenever Daffy tried to compete with Bugs, he would inevitably lose. And unfortunately, it’s something he just kept trying to do. I think largely in part, because he wanted to prove to his animators ( and to himself ) that he was capable of being as good as Bugs; at still standing on his own and commanding the performance, and winning over the audience, just like in the old days. He wanted to prove it. But as time went on, he kept losing, and that need for the approval of his animators -- and approval in general -- just grew and grew. Until it exploded into a full-on rivalry with Bugs--- complete with jealousy, bitterness, and even resentment in some instances.
Of course, when it comes down to it, Bugs and him are still BFFs. He wouldn’t want to live without Bugs or anything. They get along well more often than not! And they are proud and happy for each other’s successes! It’s more like --- Daffy’s like a jealous older sibling, who’s constantly fighting for the attention and approval of their parents by trying to out-do his overachieving sibling. That’s the analogy I think of when I think of their rivalry haha. Bugs didn’t do anything, and ultimately, when it comes down to it, they’re more friends than they are rivals.
But yes, in the end Daff’s subconsciously trying to make his animators proud of him.
If you actually read this whole thing, you rock lol.

BASICS OF ISLAM : Jealousy and Rivalry Among Siblings
Quarreling among siblings may often be a result of their ages or stages of development. For example, the endless “why?” questions of a three-year-old may be intolerable for a ten-year-old sister or brother. Or, a small child who likes to sit quietly and play with their toys alone may naturally express annoyance when confronted by a headstrong adolescent sibling.
Another basic cause of contention is rivalry and jealousy among siblings. After all, jealousy has been a human condition since the beginning of time. Some people are mature and fully grown, but still retain anger and resentment against those close to them. Since they have not been able to get over their childhood jealousy, feelings of resentment and envy have grown and changed shape; these could even be a threat to the community.
Sibling rivalry arises from a desire to compete for the affection of the parents. If one child is shown a great deal of affection by the parents, the other children will be jealous.
The Qur’an says,
“Assuredly, in (thisaccount of) Joseph and his brothers there are many signs (messages) for seekers of truth” (Yusuf 12:7).
As is well known, Prophet Jacob fathered twelve sons. However, Jacob discerned great potential in Joseph and therefore he paid greater attention to Joseph. Because this was obvious, the other brothers’ jealousy grew against Joseph. One night Joseph had a dream. When he woke he said to his father,
“O my father! I saw in a dream eleven stars, as well as the sun and the moon: I saw them pros- trating themselves before me” (Yusuf 12:4).
Jacob thought about this dream, and he believed it meant God would give Joseph every kind of opportunity, bestowed on him a high level of honor and renown, and make him an important leader. Aware of the feelings of the other brothers toward Joseph, Jacob feared they would try to harm him. So he told him,
“O my son! Do not relate your dream to your brothers, lest (out of envy) they devise a scheme against you. For Satan is a manifest enemy to humankind (and can incite them to  do  such  a thing)” (Yusuf 12:5).
Surely, our father is manifestly mistaken.” (One of them said:) “Kill Joseph, or cast him out in some distant land so that your father’s attention should turn only to you, and after that you may again become righteous people.” (Yusuf 12:8–9)
It is the duty of parents to recognize when a child is jealous, and watch for how it will be expressed.
It is of course necessary, in principle, for parents to listen to children, try to understand the reasons for their behavior, and examine their own attitudes and approaches. Parents should develop the ability to see situations and conditions from their children’s perspective. Other things parents can do to neutralize jealousy are to prepare games that will help children spend their physical and emotional energy in positive ways and to praise children when they get along well and have fun together.
For example, parents may have a son after many daughters or a daughter after many sons; in such situations they tend to love this youngest more or show more tolerance toward them. This naturally promotes problems between the children.
