AU where the justice league are actually a bunch of tik tok ppl who do comedy sketches. Like Clark got drunk one day and decided to run around in his underwear pretending to be invincible and it went viral so now he posts "Superman" sketches. Barry put on a stupid costume and used double speed to pretend he was a speedster as a joke and people ate it up. Diana wanted to prove you can fight in any dress and slowly earned the moniker "Wonder Woman" which was solidified when she did a crossover episode and now she's just having fun with it. Bruce is so dedicated to Batman and then his kids made their own personas and it spiraled out of control. Alfred was in the background of enough of them he's now considered a character. The Shazam videos are full of purposefully bad effects and everyone loves them. The first time Bruce flys out to Metropolis and makes a crossover ep with Clark tik tok goes nuts

I clear my throat, because imagining him nude under the spray leads to imagining myself joining him there, and then what sorts of activities could happen then, and my vocal cords are clogging up again. “Of course,” I say, and then wince, because my voice comes out higher pitched than usual.

Why is this so awkward? So we had sex. People do that every day. (I don’t do that every day) (I guess it is rather a big deal for me). I’m almost relieved when Simon turns to trudge up the stairs without another word.

Robin passes Steve's room blaring the 1989 rerelease while she hears Steve violently sobbing. She goes straight to the living room and sees Eddie sitting unbothered while watching TV.

"Did you break up with Steve so he can listen to a new Taylor Swift album the right way again?"

Eddie's eyes go wide. "No, he said I didn't need to do that for this one. Why, is it bad."

"Come here," Robin makes a motioning wave of her hand while they go and stand outside of the door.

I said "I love you" You say nothin' back Why'd you have to lead me on? Why'd you have to twist the knife Walk away and leave me bleedin'

"Oh, that's rough," Robin whispers under her breath.

"Should I check on him?"

"I think the song is on repeat, so maybe."

Eddie knocks quietly on the door before opening it slightly. "Hey, baby. You need anything?"

Steve is cry singing the words into his pillow as a response. Eddie turns around and shrugs at Robin, unsure of what to do. Robin shrugs back. Eddie walks up to the bed and rests a hand on Steve's shoulder, letting him know he's there while pausing the song.

"How long have you been listening to this song, baby?"

"Like five times," Steve mumbles into the pillow.

"Do you want me to stay or do you need a little more time by yourself?"

Steve rolls over, showing the wet stains on his pillow. "One more time, then you should come in."

"Ok, I'll be right outside if you need me before then."

Eddie shuts the door quietly before sliding down the wall next to Robin. They sit there silently as the song starts playing again. "So he's feeling some things," Eddie starts as Steve starts to sing to it again.

"Thank god they're on good terms right now or she would be getting some really intense messages right now."

"Honestly she still might be."

“The name, The Infirius… What does that mean, exactly?” James asks, lightheartedly, staying as quiet as he can as he breaks the silence between them. Or at least, whatever silence there ever is when surrounded by the constant crashing of waves all around them.

Regulus huffs a bitter, near-silent laugh followed by such a long silence that James is starting to get the idea that his question won’t be answered at all.

“It comes from an old legend.” Regulus finally murmurs, “An Infirius is essentially a reanimated corpse. They feel no pain. They can’t be cut by a blade, they’re fast, and they have incredible strength.”

James frowns but doesn’t interrupt.

“Only there’s another part of that legend that everyone else chooses to ignore.” Regulus turns his head to meet his eyes and James sees something sad within them. Sad and sharp with anger.

“Inferi have no free will.” He whispers, “They can’t even think for themselves. They can’t feel, can’t breathe, can’t take their lives back. All they can do is follow the orders of their Master. If he says kill? You kill. If he says die? You die. Not even half of a life. Just a puppet on a string that can’t be cut.”

“Regulus, you are not a corpse,” James murmurs firmly with sincerity in his eyes; in the very line of his brow.

“You are alive. You have air in your lungs and fire in the depths of your eyes–I can see it. Yeah, just there...” He points to a spot in Regulus’ eye, his lips curling up into a small smile. “Your will is as free as you are desperate to take it back from those who stole it from you in the first place. Regulus Black, you are not an Inferius. You are a human being. Your will are your sheers. If you want something cut, pick them up and do it. It is your will. Not theirs.”
