Lay With Me (Sleep It Off)
Apparently one of the symptoms of covid is fevers… guess who just spent the last 5 or so days with a low-grade fever 🙄 it started with me waking up at 3am to use the bathroom, thinking I was fine until I got out of my (warm) bed and started shivering uncontrollably.
Also my eyes started hurting about halfway through so uh. If you see any typos. No you don’t ✌️
Steve wakes up to Eddie’s hand drifting over his skin.
It’s something that happens more often than not, nowadays, to the point where he rolls over and presses his hips to Eddie’s automatically.
Eddie’s hand stutters. “Baby?” He asks, and Steve frowns, because neither of them had expected him to be soft.
“Yeah,” he murmurs, still sleep-drunk. “Dunno.”
“You want it?” Eddie asks, then presses a kiss to his forehead and freezes again. “Oh, shit, baby, you’re hot.”
“Mmm,” Steve says. “Thanks.”
Eddie chuckles. “Though you are hot, that’s not the kind I’m talking about, babydoll. I think you have a fever.”
Steve frowns. “No, ‘m fine. Got work.”
“Unfortunately, I don’t think fevers care about our work schedules.”
“Rude,” Steve murmurs. “They should.” He sighs and tucks himself closer to Eddie, because he’s warm and Steve is a little bit cold. “Time’s it?”
“Almost eight.” He runs a hand down Steve’s back. “You’ve got a little over an hour.”
Steve smiles against Eddie’s throat. “You were gonna make me late.”
“Was not,” Eddie retorts, even though they both know that’s a lie.
Steve hums and wiggles further into Eddie’s warmth. “Gotta get up,” he says, doing absolutely nothing to do so.
Eddie keeps petting Steve’s back, which furthers his resolve to do nothing. “I think you should stay home, baby. If you’re sick…”
“Not,” Steve argues nonsensically. “Don’t have time.”
Eddie sighs, pressing a kiss to Steve’s temple. “Okay, baby. If you’re not sick, then you need to get up and get ready to take a shower, right?”
“Mhm,” Steve mumbles. “Come with?”
“Of course I will, baby. Following your lead here. You gonna get up?”
Steve groans, strangely feels like crying as he detaches himself from Eddie and shuffles across the bed to sit on the edge.
He stands after a second and walks to the closet, realizing as he’s reaching for a shirt that he’s trembling, shivering. He’s suddenly, viscerally aware of how cold he is, and he can’t stop his teeth from chattering as he looks to Eddie with a furrowed brow.
“Baby,” Eddie murmurs, pulling him into a hug and taking some of his weight. “You’re sick. You should be in bed.”
“No,” Steve murmurs, ashamed at the tears pricking at his lids. “Can’t- need to work-”
“I’ll call Robin,” Eddie soothes. “She’ll figure it out, ‘kay? But you know as well as I do that she’d tell you to stay home, too.”
Steve sniffles. “Don’t wanna be sick,” he mutters petulantly.
Eddie runs a hand through Steve’s hair. “I know, baby, it’s not fun, is it? Let’s get back in bed, I’ll make you a hot tea and call Robin, and then I’ll be right back and we can cuddle, alright?”
Steve nods slowly. “Tell Robin sorry.”
“I will, baby. You just focus on getting back into bed now, there you go. And I’ll be right back, m’kay?”
“‘Kay,” Steve agrees, letting his eyes slip shut again as chills continue to wrack his body.
Soon enough Eddie’s back with a tray of dry toast, hot tea, water, and some painkillers. Steve startles awake even though he’d only been half-asleep, and Eddie apologizes, rushing to place the tray down so he can assist Steve’s shaky arms in lifting his body to a seated position.
Steve is handed the water and meds first, then considers the tea and toast and shakes his head, trying to apologize. “It’s okay, baby,” Eddie murmurs. “They’ll keep, you need to eat something today, I’ll just heat them up later. I just wanna do what you need, m’kay? Right now your bodu is saying it needs more rest, and that’s just fine. C’mon, come lay down with me, go back to sleep, okay? Let’s try and sleep this off. I bet when you wake up, you’ll feel a hundred times better.”
“M’kay,” Steve murmurs, tucking his face into the crook of Eddie’s neck. “Thank you. Love you.”
“I love you too, baby,” Eddie whispers, sealing his vow with a kiss to the top of Steve’s head.
And with that, he drifts off to sleep.

✦✦✦
Steve's son was only about 3 months old when you moved in. It was a mutual agreement between you two, from high school acquaintances to co-workers at Scoops Ahoy one summer turned friends now turned roommates years later, and Steve had made it clear to you that his son would never have to be your responsibility.
What he meant was that he'd never expect you to babysit him, make you buy him things like formula or diapers, or to even wake up and take care of him when he cries late into the night (as a housewarming gift he gifted you a walk-man for when that happens). And while you didn't actually mind having an infant in the house or helping Steve from time to time, you did respect these boundaries of his.
Steve wanted to do this on his own, and you understood that. After all, he did let you move in after you were evicted by your parents because an adult shouldn't be living with their parents still (their words) and he had an extra room. Also, he didn't exactly hate the idea of splitting monthly and weekly expenses with someone.
It wasn't like Steve didn't let you near his son or anything, in fact, he encouraged it, wanting his son used to people. You absolutely loved holding him and talking to him, you enjoyed reading to him too, especially when Steve would just fall asleep with him in his arms and you'd pick him up and take him to bed to let Steve sleep while you read him a story or told him about your day.
"How was your day? Ah, you're just a little baby," you would say as you changed him, "Your day was a random elderly woman cooing and saying hi to you, huh?"
And he'd just stare up at you with those big brown eyes that matched Steve's, and you'd sit down on the rocking chair with him in your lap while Steve got much needed rest on the couch in the living room.
That was pretty much it, but now that his son was around 6 months old...you did wish that Steve would let you help. More than just that, more than just watching him for about an hour because he needed to run out really quick, or handing him some bottles when he needed one. It was because, well, you could tell he was exhausted and could use a little more than the help you've been giving him.
Except, he stood by not needing your help, or anyone's help for that matter except for a paid babysitter whenever he was at work (which you found silly because you would watch him for free on the days Steve worked and you didn't).
All in all, you just wanted to help, but Steve was stubborn. Stubborn and tired...and he'd gotten a little snappy lately too.
It was a day off for you, and you were up early because his son typically woke you up around 5 am. He hadn't been doing it lately, but your mind clung to that sleep schedule.
You were standing in the semi-clean kitchen, well just unorganized really, and was making more bottles while flipping through a magazine after you decided to clean the dishes and other bottles left beside the sink from the night before.
You were shaking one and flipping the page of the magazine when you heard a door creak open from down the hall and looked up to see Steve entering the kitchen a few seconds later.
His eyes were squinted, his hair slightly greasy and sticking up in various directions, and he was only wearing a pair of gym shorts so his hair covered chest was on full display, not something you weren't used to. He stood for a good moment or two just staring at you, then at the bottles you had made.
"You...you don't have to do that," he said after rubbing his eyes, "I told you that you don't have to do...anything."
You set down the bottle you were shaking, which was actually the last one as you said, "I was awake, and had nothing else to do...so..."
He looked at all the bottles, a frown on his lips before he brought his hands to his face and sighed. You crossed your arms and leaned on the counter.
"Look okay, I told you when you moved in-"
"I know," you cut him off, "It's really not a big deal, Steve..."
"It's just- I told you I wanted to do this on my own-"
"And you have been," you told him sternly as you checked one of the bottles, knowing that Steve was up to go and feed his baby. You held it out for him, "I just wanted to help."
He stared at you, then at the bottle, and he took it from you while saying, "I literally never asked you for it, but whatever."
Before he turned away, he gave you one last look before walking back down the hall. You huffed, turning back to the bottles and thought he was being a bit much. You only made a few bottles, something you actually always did he just always thought he made more than normal.
"God, did I make this much? I'm so tired I don't even remember," Steve told you one Thursday night when he was going to give his son a bottle.
You decided then and there that you weren't going to hang out with him today like planned, and after putting them in the fridge (which was something you knew Steve would get snarky with about too but did it anyway) you went back to your room, but not before stopping in the doorway of his son's room and seeing Steve sitting on the rocking chair holding his newborn in his arms and smiling down at him as he fed him.
He still looked so tired though, but you continued to your room, lightly closing the door and grabbing the walk man so Tears for Fears could put you back to sleep for a bit.
✦✦✦
"God someone needs to get laid," Robin Buckley's voice echoed from beside you. You nearly choked on the pretzel you were currently eating while walking around at the mall that was a town over from Hawkins.
It was a nice half-way point between you, Nancy Wheeler, and Robin, who was actually Steve's best friend that you stole for a second since he hadn't even talked to her lately.
"Robin," Nancy was on the other side of you, shopping bags in one hand, "Don't say that so loud." Her blue eyes looked at the families around them and Robin cringed suddenly.
"Okay, but my point still stands, I know more than the normal person about Steve's sex life...unfortunately...and when he wasn't getting any, he got snarky like that," Robin said, and honestly, you think you knew what Robin was talking about too now, remembering particularly when working at Scoops together, the guy had a whole attitude until he was back in the game.
Nancy just grimaced, "Well he is a single dad of a 6 month old, has he been out like at all?" The question was targeted toward you, and you lifted your head after biting into your pretzel and nodded.
"Yeah, he goes out...to get diapers and baby stuff...and to work," you said fully knowing that's not what Nancy meant. She gave you a look and you scoffed, "Other than that, no not really, he spends every day off at home, and we hang a lot in the house when it's both of our days off. We were supposed to today until he said that to me."
Robin hummed, "Can't really blame the guy though, right? The little guy is born, mother vanishes, he's all alone taking care of him...till you moved in. He's just stressed, right?"
You took another bite of your pretzel, teeth digging into the fluffy bread as you turned to look at Robin, "Well, I moved in to make it easier with bills and stuff but…no I messed up...he told me he didn't need help like that, and I overstepped."
"Well...out of all of us here, you're seeing it right? You said he's tired all the time, forgets to do things like make extra bottles because he's working so much and getting very little sleep...you were just trying to help," Nancy said with a shrug, and while that was true...you still felt bad.
Robin saw your conflicted expression and wrapped a friendly arm around you, "I'm sure it's fine, just you know, talk to him, express some friendly concern and maybe tell him my solution...or better yet, maybe help him with that solution?"
You snapped your eyes up to meet Robin's, feeling your cheeks heat up and she chuckled as she poked your nose, "I'm joking...but this is probably a good time to tell you that he did have a crush on you when we all worked together at Scoops Ahoy...and after that too."
You furrowed your eyebrows, then laughed in her face, "Robin, he had a crush on you."
"Yeah, he did, but for obvious reasons, that was never going to work out for him, but he liked you too, and for much longer than he liked me, so...I don't know..." Robin trailed off, and you sighed as you turned to look at Nancy.
"I would just talk to him, not about her solution because that would just make it weird," Nancy told you quickly, before she looked around and leaned in, "But...maybe he does need what Robin thinks, it doesn't have to be you though."
Your cheeks grew more hot, but there was another sort of feeling that stirred inside of you when you thought about Steve actively going out to find someone to sleep with. You took the last bite of your pretzel then and looked forward, thinking about what Robin and Nancy had said...and as your eyes caught a donuts shop you and he once went to before his son was born, you thought maybe instead of Robin's solution you could try another.
Later that night you returned to Hawkins with a couple of shopping bags, and a box of freshly made donuts that included at least three of his favorite one. It was their bear claws, and you knew this because Steve still brought it up sometimes, claiming he’d never have a donut like that again.
Steve was in the living room, sitting on the couch in front of his son who was sitting in a high chair. There was a jar of half-full baby food sitting on the tray portion, and Steve was leaning in and wiping his son’s face. He’d been trying to introduce him to solids since at the last appointment the doctor told him it was okay, but more food had gotten onto his chin rather than his mouth on this attempt.
“That’s okay,” Steve told him with a warm smile as he wiped off the excess food on his lips, “We’ll try next time.” His son stared at him before the corner of his lips started to curl up and Steve chuckled as he leaned in and kissed his cheek affectionately, “You have a charming smile just like your daddy, huh? Yes you do. Gonna make all the boys and girls swoon with that smile." His son’s smile only grew, making Steve chuckle and kiss him again.
You had entered through the door in the kitchen, and the door lightly slamming captured Steve's attention. He looked up, seeing an unreadable expression on your features when he saw you setting down things on the now clean kitchen counter.
"Uh, hey," Steve told you, then he looked back at his son with a grimace on his face because of how you just left after what happened in the morning. His son just stared blankly at him, as if trying to figure out why his dad’s face looked like that (He should know because Steve talked about it to him while he changed his diaper earlier).
"Hi," you replied back lamely as you started to remove your coat and set it down on the back of one of the stools in the kitchen. It was awkwardly silent, save for the late cartoons playing on the small tv.
Steve swallowed thickly, feeling bad about what happened in the morning, especially with how you two had plans today and you were mad enough to leave. He moved to stand, picking his son up at the same time and holding him against his chest as he entered the kitchen with you.
"So...how is Robin and Nance?" he asked you, eyes moving toward the various shopping bags, not having yet seen the donuts box you purposely set on the counter behind you.
"They're good, you should really give Robin a call though, she won't admit it but she misses your phone calls," you told him nonchalantly, "And I think she really wants to see the little guy again."
Steve watched a smile grow on your lips at the sight of his son, and it made him feel slightly warm, but also...regretful. He took a deep breath, wanting to make the feeling go away.
"Look, I had a very eye opening conversation with the little guy about what happened this morning,” Steve lightly joked, which didn’t fail to make your warm smile toward his son turn slightly amused, “And…I'm sorry…I know you're just trying to help out.”
You crossed your arms, choosing to lean on the counter again as your eyes lifted back up to Steve's as your expression turned more serious, "It's okay, you told me not to, but...I just see you struggling you know? And I want to help, and I don't mean act like his mom or something, just...like as a friend...or an unofficial aunt."
Steve stared at you for a moment, that warm feeling only growing, but he still felt a bit indifferent about it. You could tell by the way his expression faltered.
"I know, I know...it's just, he's my son? And I need to know that I can take care of him on my own because if I let you help then what would happen if you left? What if I just mess up because I’m incapable of taking care of my own kid?" he asked you genuinely because he had been thinking about that, too afraid he'd start relying on you so much that he'd be hopeless. He had already been through similar situations, sans being a single dad, and he was determined to never let that happen again where he was thrown into a responsibility he wasn’t ready for.
"Steve...you are such a good dad, I don't think that's possible," you said with a small laugh of disbelief, "Everything you're doing for him...working all those hours, spending every hour you aren't working with him...but that doesn’t mean you have to do everything on your own especially since help is just right here."
“I know,” Steve replied, voice slightly hoarse.
You were pushing yourself off of the counter now, going toward the box of donuts now, "I'm not going to do everything, just you know, make some bottles here and then, take care of him so you can sleep longer...maybe even watch him if you want to go out with some date or something...things like that."
Steve laughed at that, not at the whole thing, but the dating part and he said, "You seriously think I'm getting dates?"
"I don't know...some women like the whole single dad thing...you haven't noticed when we go out some are looking at you with major heart eyes, Steve?" you asked, "Especially when you do that baby talk to him? Some find it hot."
Steve furrowed his brows, then laughed again, "Right…”
“It’s true,” you replied with a weak shrug, “There’s just something about the young dad vibe that is just incredibly attractive.”
Steve stared at the back of your head, swiping his tongue over his suddenly dry lips, and he said, “Are you one of these women? It sounds like you're talking from experience."
You glanced over your shoulder at Steve before you opened the box of donuts that were still hidden from Steve's view and you replied, "I'm not immune to it."
At your confession, it made Steve's cheeks grow a bit pink but then his son was reaching up to touch his nose, distracting him. Steve grinned down at him, and asked in that same voice without thinking, "Alright, alright, you have my attention again- you want a bottle?"
You turned toward Steve again, holding a bear paw in your hand that was meant for Steve and felt your chest tighten. You weren't lying when you said you weren't immune to it, the way he looked when holding his son, the way he talked to him, but you were luckier than the women who just walked by him in the street, you got to see this everyday. Him being so caring, so protective and so loving to his son. In your honest opinion, Steve just got hotter to you since living with him. He was hot before, but now you can't ignore or deny it like you did when you were classmates and coworkers at an ice cream parlor.
You softly cleared your throat, capturing Steve's attention. He lifted his eyes to look at you, before you waved the bear claw and his eyes moved toward it. You could practically see his eyes light up and his mouth beginning to water at the simple sight of it.
"Fuck, give me that right now," Steve cursed, and you chuckled and walked toward him. You held it to his lips and Steve leaned forward to take a bite out of it, and practically moaned at its sugary taste, "God, give me another bite."
You did as told, holding it back up to his lips as he took another bite, a bigger one this time with his eyes boring into yours. You bit your inner cheek, thinking this was probably working. You didn't want to think about Steve needing to have sex or something when this donut was practically doing the same thing...easing his nerves even for just a bit.
"So...are we okay then?" you asked him as he swallowed his second bite.
"Yeah...yeah we're okay," he said, shooting you a sweet grin before he opened his mouth again. You rolled your eyes playfully and said, "Then give me him and feed yourself."
Steve pouted at you, but did as told. You took his son in your arms, speaking in a high pitched voice as you said, "Hi, how was your day with your daddy? Sorry I didn't get you a donut, but I promise I’ll bring you one too when you’re a little older." You smoothed down the dark hair on his head, and his son gazed up at you and reached out to touch your cheek and smile.
Steve stopped midway from bringing the rest of the donut to his mouth, eyes resting on you and feeling some kind of heat rather than a regular warmth at the sight of you holding his son and with the smile and look of joy you were putting on his little face.
What you didn’t know, and Steve never going to tell you, was that there was another reason he didn't want you helping out so much, and the heat he was feeling right now just watching with his son, how it always had been since you moved in, was it. He rather focused on his donut, tearing his eyes from you as you grabbed a bottle, made by you of course, and sauntered off toward his son’s bedroom.
✦✦✦
Things were going okay between you and Steve, and he had seemed less stressed with him letting you help him out some more. It was more than you were doing before, but not too much either. He wasn't snapping at you again...until today.
You had gotten off of your shift early, a rare occasion to happen, and you had gone straight home and you told the sitter she could go home.
You didn't think Steve would be bothered by it since he started to accept more of your help, but something must've happened during his day at work because when got home and only found you and his son, and no babysitter, he grew slightly irritated.
"I just think you should ask me first," Steve told you as he picked his son out of the cradle swing that was set out in the living room. You looked at Steve with a raised brow.
"Okay? Do you not trust me or something to watch him? I don't see the problem," you bit back, growing irritated with him now. Steve sighed, kissing his son on nose as a hello and glancing at you. You were in the kitchen again, and he followed after you.
"No, I trust you, I just think if you're going to send the sitter home you should let me know," he said with a bit of a firm tone in his voice that you didn't like.
You honestly didn't think it was that big of a deal because you were here and it made no sense for her to stick around until he got home. He was leaving him here with you on your days off in the past weeks since your talk and suddenly this was a problem.
"I would apologize, but I don't see why I have to," you muttered, knowing Steve was in one of his moods again.
"It's because-" Steve paused, as if trying to think about exactly why, but when he didn't come up with anything you were laughing and shaking your head as you opened the fridge and bent over to look for one of the containers you'd brought home from work.
"You don't even know why," you said, then sighed and said, "But fine, next time I'll just call you and bother you at work." You heard Steve scoff just as you found what you were looking for.
"It's not about that-" Steve said but you were turning around and holding a piece of lemon cake you made at the bakery you worked full-time at in your hand and telling to be quiet and just eat the cake.
Steve just stared at you, then the lemon cake dumbfounded, and he said, "I don't want that...whatever, just-" He was shaking his head and turning away, leaving you standing there. The last thing you heard was Steve asking his son, "Why does she keep trying to feed me sweets?"
You stood in the kitchen for a good few minutes after he'd left, looking at the lemon cake in your hand before shoving it into your own mouth and chewing it obnoxiously. It was the first time Steve refused to eat a sweet you were offering him, not knowing that you were always doing it whenever he got into a mood and was unintentionally averting his irritation toward you.
You went to your room a few minutes after that, and decided to call Robin and when she answered, she told you exactly what she told you at the mall. He desperately needed to get laid, and he didn't even know it.
"Oh god, if I do tell him that he's probably going to call me gross," you said, now weighing in her suggestion because honestly, you didn't know what else would ease the guy's stress and tension.
"Yeah, but then he'll think about it and realize you're probably right, I can tell him? Just put him on the phone right now," Robin said, making you chuckle.
"I think he's asleep…somehow," you said, glancing through your open door to see the hallway illuminated with the tv screen,  "The little guy's quiet, so..."
"Bliss for a single dad, god I miss that kid, how is he?"
You told Robin about Steve's son, something he probably should be doing, but like you said he barely called her anymore either with the tight schedule he had. After a few more minutes of talking, Robin left you with a 'get him laid (y/n)' before hanging up.
It had made you laugh sarcastically again, but honestly, you didn't know what else to even do. Even as you walked out into the living room and saw him laying on the couch with his eyes closed he looked so fucking tense. His eyebrows were furrowed, his jaw was clenched, and you could see the tension in his shoulders as well.
You mindlessly walked over to the TV, turning it off for him, but the moment you did, his eyes opened and he was saying your name. You didn't look at him until he said your name a second time.
"Hey, I'm sorry okay, I had a bad day at work, Keith made me work overtime and-"
"Look Steve," you started with, "I get it, okay, you're stressed and I understand why! I thought maybe if I helped you out especially with your son you would be less stressed and less of, let's face it, a jerk to me, but god, it's like anything I do you just get mad at me."
Steve was taken back by your words, eyes blinking rapidly at you as he moved to sit up. You crossed your arms and stared at him expectantly, waiting for him to speak. He pressed his lips together before cursing under his breath and saying, "I know, you're right and believe me- I'm trying not to okay, I'm sorry for getting mad about the babysitter, it's fine, if anything I prefer you to take care of him because he loves you so much."
You were a bit touched by that, your expression softening slightly, but you were still mad at Steve so you kept the softness brief before forcing it back to your expectant one.
"Then what's the matter?" you asked him.
He slouched slightly, bringing his hands to his messed up hair as he groaned and said, "Trust me I feel like an asshole every time I snap at you like that...I just have all this tension, and I don't know what to do about it...should I try like..yoga or something? Meditation?"
You huffed at the idea of Steve doing yoga, and you moved to fall into the space next to him, gazing at him for a moment before saying, "Robin...thinks it's because you need to have sex or at least an orgasm."
You watched Steve pause, the hand rubbing his scalp halting at once, and he lifted his head and looked at you with yet another dumbfounded look. You shrugged weakly, averting your eyes away from him as you said, "It beats what I've been doing...feeding you sweets..."
His eyes grew wide, now knowing that was why and feeling slightly embarrassed that he had to be coaxed into having a better attitude, but before he could respond to that you continued, "And maybe...she's right? When's the last time you've...you know..." You made a jerking off motion, making Steve's cheeks become flushed.
"Uh..." he pressed his lips together tightly, actually taking the question serious and he found that he really couldn't remember the last time he'd jerked off, let alone had sex with anyone. And maybe, the more he thought about, the more Robin did have a point...
You shifted in your spot so that you were facing him, resting your arm on the back edge of the couch and looking curiously at him before nudging him.
He looked back at you, his tongue swiping his bottom lip gently before he nodded, "She's probably right, but if that's what it takes...yeah you're gonna have to deal with me."
You rolled your eyes, "Anyone would hook up with you still in a heartbeat Harrington, just ask any woman at the supermarket."
Steve shrugged, "So you say, but would I hook up with them? I don't know them, after that little guy in there...I don't think I can have sex with just anyone anymore.”
You were chewing on your inner cheek at Steve’s words, contemplating another thing Robin had told you…that you could actually help with her solution for him. You rested the side of your head in your palm, fluttering your eyelashes slightly at Steve before you said, “Well…it doesn’t have to be just anyone…would you be…more comfortable if it was someone you knew?”
It was a loaded question, you were well aware of it, and Steve seemed to understand immediately what you were suggesting. He looked at you again, brown eyes observing you closely, and his cheeks turning slightly red. You offered him a smile, and raised both eyebrows suggestively at him.
His lips parted for a second, and he ran his hand through his thick, messy hair as he replied, “I don’t know if that’s a good idea.”
You didn’t want to look or sound too disappointed, or too eager either, but you did pout slightly, something he also caught, and you said, “We don’t have to have actual sex…I could just help you get off. It’s always better when someone does it for you, right?”
It was Steve shifting in his spot too now because the simple idea of you touching him down there was making his cock twitch in his sweatpants. He hadn’t been touched in a while, he knew that for sure now if just you suggesting it had him getting aroused.
He cursed underneath his breath, glanced down at his crotch, making you follow his gaze. You rested your eyes on the prominent outline of his cock through his sweatpants that you hadn’t noticed he was wearing until now. They were the gray pair that left little to the imagination in the first place when he wore them, but right now the hardness cock was painfully obvious and you felt heat spread through your abdomen.
You took a sharp intake of breath, remembering suddenly something Robin told you as well at the mall.
“I don’t know if you wanted me to know this,” you started, moving toward Steve wearily, he turned his head to look at you moving closer, “But Robin told me you used to have a crush on me.”
Steve blinked for a moment, then laughed nervously as he said, “She told you that?” You nodded, settling on your knees beside him, licking his lips again as he said, “She’s right…I did.”
“How come you never told me?” you asked him softly, “I might’ve given you a chance.”
He chuckled at that, liking the way you tilted your head at him so curiously again as he said softly that he didn’t know why he never did. You had always seemed like this girl that was so out of his reach despite being so close, up until right now at least, because you’ve never been this close to him and he had to stop his breath from hitching with arousal.
He knew the very reason it was a bad idea was because his ‘crush’ on you hadn’t exactly faded, if that heat he felt whenever you held his son said anything else, so he wasn’t sure what would happen if you both took this step like this. But fuck, the thought of being touched in the first time in what feels like forever in his mind send tremors of anticipation and arousal through him. And it was also the fact that you were asking to touch him, that you wanted to do it…and Steve wanted it too.
You were leaning slightly, and you said in almost a whisper, “So…let me help you.”
Steve’s breath hitched in his throat, feeling way too aroused from just you being so close, and he was nodding. He nearly groaned when he felt your fingers touching his thigh and moving upward until he felt the tips of your fingers touching his cock that was still confined in his sweatpants.
His breath shook, and his eyes fluttered shut for a second as you gently dragged your fingers up and down his hardening cock. Your head was tilted downward, listening to the way Steve’s breathing was becoming deeper and heavier with every drag of your fingers.
“Fuck, yeah that feels…so fucking good,” Steve said, his voice an octave deeper, “Keep going.”
You hummed in response, before pressing your hand against his cock and started to rub him. He nearly choked on the groan he let out, and he spread his legs for you, slouching slightly as his head hit the back of the couch. He felt your hand grasp him, starting to rub him in a way that felt so goddamn good even above the fabric of his sweats.
It was a quiet hum that made Steve look at you leaning over him now, his head falling forward. You looked so focused as you wrapped your hand around him, and ran your thumb over the tip then. Steve’s hips bucked upwards when you did that, and you chuckled softly, moving your other hand to grab the back of the couch again to steady yourself.
He felt so fucking big underneath your hand, and when your eyes caught sight of the dark gray spot that began to seep through the light gray fabric, your mouth watered like Steve’s did when he saw that stupid bear claw you bought him weeks ago.
You bit your bottom lip, running your thumb across his tip again and listening to the noises that Steve was letting slip past his lips as you moved your hand back and forth. You never took him for a vocal lover, but then again maybe it was because he hadn’t been touched by anyone in so fucking long and he probably couldn’t help it. But fuck, it was hot to hear him, especially when the moans turned into breathless cursing as your hand worked faster.
Your eyes moved to his face, taking in the sight of his eyes that were practically shining and his lips that were wet with his spit. You started to rub him again, and watched as he threw head back and groaned out a ‘fuck.’ It made you smile, almost proud of yourself and you glanced back down at his crotch, seeing the wet spot had only gotten bigger and more obvious the more he bucked his hips in his hand.
“Damn Steve,” you said breathlessly, making him look at you, “It’s worse than I thought. Are you going to cum in your pants right now?”
He laughed breathlessly as he replied, “Shut- oh fuck- shut up,” his voice cracked as you moved your hand faster and harder, then slower again, “Don’t - god- don’t act like you don’t know what you’re doing to me right now.”
You smiled innocently at him as you ran your hand over his entire cock again, “I can do more…if you want.” You were moving your hand off of him, making Steve whine at you for the loss of contact, but when he felt your hand at the waistband of his sweats, he was looking down at your hand, then back up at you.
Realizing what you meant, he said, “I shouldn’t…" You brought you hand back down to touch him again, and his eyes rolled back for a momennt before he said, "...but fuck I don’t even care, your hand feels so fucking good.”
At his words, you were lifting your hand back up and digging them beneath the waistband, feeling nothing but bare skin and you gasped and teased, “No boxers Steve? It’s almost like you knew…”
His cheeks grew even more red at this, and he said, “I never wear those when I wear these. Too uncomfortable.”
“Oh?”
He smirked at you, already knowing that you were pretending to be surprised. He was well aware that you knew he never did, having seen you staring when you thought he wasn’t paying attention. If anyone knew anything, it was you.
You leaned forward, pressing a light kiss to one of the many beauty marks that decorated the side of his neck, something you’ve actually always wanted to do, and Steve practically melted at the touch of your lips right there. He turned his head to face you, and you pressed your forehead to his as you asked him to tell you if he really wanted you to actually touch him.
And Steve cursed and said yes.
You reached your hand into his pants, listening to him gasp and then feeling him buck into your hands as you wrapped your fingers around the girth of his cock. You even let out a soft whine yourself, your eyebrows growing taunt just by how big he actually was in your hand.
Steve was right about you having stared before when he wore these pants, but you didn’t think he was this big even when you just rubbed him over his sweats not even a full two minutes ago. Letting out a shaky breath, you started to move your hand back and forth, pumping his cock and trying to contain your own whines that only edged Steve on. It was rough without any kind of lube, but Steve didn’t really care, just enjoying the feeling of your hand wrapped around him slowly jerking him off.
Your eyes were kept on each other, your foreheads touching and your noses just barely touching too. You feel his hot breath hitting you with every pant that slipped past his parted lips, and he could feel yours too. It would be easy to lean forward and make your lips touch too, to kiss you for the first time.
It was the way he was looking at you though that had you working harder for him, enjoying that blown out look in his pupils. You'd never seen him like this before, and it was making you pump him faster and harder.
“Steve…” you were saying his name, and with hooded eyes and an even quieter voice he asked you what it was you wanted to tell him. You licked your lips this time, knowing what you wanted and just saying it.
“Let me suck you off.”
His chest flooded with heat, and further anticipation, especially with how you said it, so desperate that he didn’t need to feel embarrassed by the way he sounded either.
“Are…are you sure you want to? You don’t have to,” he told you genuinely, “I’m okay with you getting me off like this…”
Your hand on him slowed down, simply rubbing him again that earned you a quiet groan as you said with a furrow of your eyebrows, “You’ve just been working so hard and stressing yourself out so much that you’ve been so cold to me…”
“Fuck I know- I don’t mean to be,” he replied, pressing his forehead more to yours, parting his lips trying to lean more upward so that he could kiss you. You let out a deep exhale, purposely keeping out of his reach and replied, “It’s okay, I know why you are...”
Steve rubbed his nose against yours too, wanting nothing more but to kiss you, but wanting to hear what you were going to say next.
“You’re such a good dad to the little guy, I think you deserve some kind of reward, some appreciation that none of your stupid co-workers or manager show you,” you told him with another few pumps of his cock between your hand, “Let me show you how I’ll appreciate you. You deserve this, Steve.”
For some reason, your words were spreading through Steve like wildfire that he felt like he might just come from your words. The words good dad, reward, and appreciation buzzing pleasantly through his head and itching a part of his brain that he didn’t even know existed. You saw this change in him, the way his eyes grew dark and you asked him again to let you appreciate him for being such a loving, good dad to his son.
“Yes, fuck, please,” he told you, and you smiled, leaning away before his lips could even barely touch yours, but he found he couldn’t be disappointed as he knew where those lips of yours were going. You stayed in your same spot beside him though, just shifting ever so slightly to give yourself more room before you were taking Steve’s hard cock out of his sweats.
You whined gently, even more impressed with how well endowed he was, and you looked up at Steve through your lashes and he shot you a smile. He knew that look because every time he was with someone for the first time they all gave him the same look of surprise before they started practically drooling at the sight of his thick cock.
He'd just never thought you'd be one of them.
You picked your jaw off the floor though, eyes shifting back to his pretty cock. You stuck your tongue out as you leaned down, dragging it from the bottom and upward. One of Steve’s hands went to his own head while the other reached upwards to rest on your back, his rough hands from working so much touching the soft skin of your back that was exposed from your shirt lifting in your new position.
“Shit- sorry,” Steve apologized, “Didn’t mean- to-” he choked out a soft groan as your tongue began to lick at the swollen tip of his cock, tasting the pre cum that was already there, “I didn’t mean to touch you-”
“You can touch me, Steve,” you told him breathlessly, his brown eyes resting on yours for a moment before your tongue was back on him. He pushed his own hair out of his face, focusing on your tongue and the heat in his stomach when you were suddenly taking him halfway into your mouth. He hadn’t expected that, considering how you seemed to be taking it nice and slow, and he moaned quite loudly.
He froze, eyes shooting toward the hallway, not wanting to wake up his son as it took a while for him to fall asleep. You didn’t really notice he did, getting him wet with the heat of your mouth and practically choking on him even though only about half of him was stuffed into your mouth.
When he heard no crying, Steve returned his focus onto you, making sure his noises of pleasure weren’t that loud again. His head fell back just over the back of the couch, enjoying the feeling of your hot and wet mouth around him as you started to bob your head up and down, the tip just barely touching the back of your throat, and your hand wrapping around the rest of him that you couldn’t take.
“Oh fuck, you’re right, I needed this- I needed this so fucking much,” he told you in a low, husky voice, his head dropping forward and his eyes moving over the curve of your body, resting on your ass that was sticking out in your current position. He barely realized you were wearing those terribly small shorts you wore when the ac was broken for a few days during the summer you moved in. It was winter now. He moved his hand lower to grab your ass, and squeezed the flesh there as he teased you by basically repeating what you told him earlier, “You’re wearing these shorts? It’s almost like you knew…”
You were taken off guard by his words and his hand squeezing your ass, so much that you hummed appreciatively around him, sending a pleasurable vibration up Steve’s cock and he practically gasped and bucked his hips upward in response. The sudden gesture caused his cock to hit your throat directly, and you were suddenly gagging. Your hand that wasn’t on his cock slapped onto his thigh and then you looked up at him, giving him a look that made him laugh breathlessly.
“Sorry,” he told you as you pulled off of him, deciding to use your hand for a moment, which felt much better with his cock covered in your spit. His eyes shifted from your hand pumping him, and back to your lips that were shining with your spit and looked more swollen than before. You were a very pretty sight indeed.
“It’s fine,” you told him, your voice slightly hoarse that Steve loved because it was because you were sucking his cock, you swallowed thickly and continued to say,  “If you want me to take more of you, just ask.”
Steve sighed, and shook his head, “You don’t have to, I’m pretty big…don’t want to strain your throat.” You raised both brows at him, impressed by the smugness despite thinking he had every right to be smug. You’ve sucked cock before, but god, Steve had to be the biggest one and you liked a challenge.
You twisted your neck side to side, making Steve raise both eyebrows at you as he realized you were going to go for it as you got off of the couch and instead went to the ground between his spread open legs. Flashing him a little smirk, you were leaning down again and sliding him back into your mouth, flattening your tongue and lowering yourself as far as you could.
Your lips stretched out around the girth of him, your eyes closing as you focused on relaxing your throat so you can get at least most of him in.
The feeling of his cock so deep inside of your mouth had Steve’s smugness dissipating by the second. With every inch you took, he was becoming a mess, and he brought his hand to the back of your head. His breaths started to come in fast and heavy pants because holy fuck he didn’t expect you to be able to take so much of him, he never expected anyone to so with you doing this for him, it fucking wrecked him.
“God yeah, just like that, holy shit,” he told you, his voice becoming strained as you swallowed around him, “Fucking hell, yeah, yeah you know what you’re doing, fuck, fuck, fuck...”
His hand held on to the back of your head firmly, while your hands stayed on his thigh, wanting to prevent him literally going down your fucking throat when he finally came, which you knew he was close. You began to bob your head up and down again, making Steve moan out your name along with more curses that had you wanting to touch yourself.
The hand on the back of your head was helping you, lifting you and pushing down and he was very relieved that you were holding his thighs down because he couldn’t keep his hips from bucking upwards any longer. He was close, so fucking close, every time he hit the back of your throat you slightly gagged and it felt so fucking good, you felt good and he almost wanted to fucking thank you for doing this for him.
“I- I’m going to come,” he warned you between his pants and moans, “Yeah, yeah I’m going to oh my fucking god yeah-” His body folded toward you, his head dropping as he felt himself let out the longest, most hottest groan of his life when on the final bob of your head, you took him even further. He felt the back of your throat, and he was a goner.
With anyone else, Steve might’ve been embarrassed by his moans that turned into straight up whimpers as he came right into the back of your throat, and felt you desperately trying to swallowing. You took all of him, not wanting to pull away until you took every drop of cum he had to give you. His body twitched and convulsed with electric shocks of pleasure that he’d been denying himself of for a while now.
Steve lifted his head, letting out long breaths with his eyes still closed as you drank the last of him up. He was massaging the back of your scalp as you did so, saying things like why the fuck are so good at that and I haven’t came that hard in fucking forever.
His words made you smile smugly as you leaned away from him, your plump lips and chin covered in your own spit. His eyes softened at the sight of you though, and he moved his hand to gently cup your jaw and wipe your lip with his thumb almost affectionately.
“Feel…” you tried to speak, but your voice was more raspy than before. You had to clear your throat and Steve was smiling…again, which you promptly ignored because it was all smug like again, “Feel better?”
He sucked in a deep breath, wanting to steady his breathing as he thought about it. He honestly did feel a lot better, the tension he felt in his shoulders and back and basically every being released along with orgasm. He leaned back on to the couch, and nodded weakly.
“Yeah, I feel much better,” he replied, dropping his hand from your face to his thigh, right beside his softening cock. You nodded, content with that and started to move to stand, about to tell him that you were glad and needed to go to your room immediately for no particular reason related to the throbbing between your legs.
You didn’t account for your legs feeling wobbly though, and you fell forward onto Steve. He caught you quickly as your leg slotted between his, and you felt your cunt press against his thigh.
The pressure sent a jolt of pleasure through you when it did, and you were so turned on that you couldn’t stop the moan escaping your lips even if you wanted to. Steve gazed up at you, obviously having heard you and swallowed thickly as once again bit his bottom lip gently before releasing it.
You met his gaze, feeling slightly flustered that you’d moaned so easily, and maybe embarrassed because you didn’t want him to think you were expecting anything back, but then his hands were on your waist, as if wanting to keep you there.
“I’ve been thinking…for maybe about 2 minutes…” he started with, his voice slightly deeper, “It’s not just me who deserves a reward like this. You do too.”
He flexed his thigh underneath you and you gasped softly as the pressure again. Your hands flew to his shoulders, trying to steady yourself even though he was holding onto you.
“A reward for what? Dealing with you being a jerk?” you joked, and Steve nodded.
“Yeah,” he replied softly, “Let me make you feel good too…come on..” He was moving you to straddle him completely, and you settled right onto his lap, your clothed cunt pressing against his cock that was still out of his sweatpants.
His cock was still pretty sensitive from just coming that his eyes rolled back for a moment, before he asked you to lift your hips for him. You did as told, lifting your body to your knees above his lap and he was looking down at you before he brought his hand between your legs.
You moved your hands onto his shoulders again when you felt his fingers touching you, lightly at first, as if wanting to emulate the way you teased and touched him earlier. Your teeth caught your bottom lip, a quiet moan of his name making him look up at you with a heated gaze.
The soft moan of his name stirred Steve on as he pressed his fingers harder against your clit, starting to rub the bundle of nerves in small circles. The grip on his shoulders tightened as he did so, your teeth releasing your bottom lip as your moans turned into whimpers with his name being one of the things you kept saying.
“I’m sorry for being so mean to you,” Steve said, his voice strained, “I’ll be better, fuck, I promise.” His fingers moved faster and you didn’t even really listen to what he said, just chasing the pleasure his fingers were giving you and wishing there was no fucking fabric in the way.
“Fuck okay, okay,” Steve suddenly said, slowing down his movements, “Can you grind on me? I really need to feel you.”
You whined at the lost of contact because you felt so fucking close and too aroused to have him just stop like that, but then he was moving your hips back down so that your middles were pressed together again. The feeling of his cock against you again, which you were sure was half-hard, made you let out a choked out gasp and you were starting to grind against him like he asked without question.
The fabric of your shorts caused a delicious friction for Steve against his cock, especially with the way you were starting to grind against him, trying to get the same friction with your clothed clit. You cursed when his hips met your thrusts, and it hit your clit instantly, making you gasp and look down at Steve.
His head was tilted down, watching your clothed cunt drag across his cock, his lips were parted and pink as he looked absolutely enchanted by the way you were rutting against him desperately. It made it somehow even more hot that he was watching you so closely and you knew he was thinking about actually being inside of you…because you were thinking the same thing.
The mere idea of him burying that cock of his deep inside of you spurred you on, and you moved your hips faster, sending a jolt of ecstasy across your body. Steve cursed, especially as the couch even began to move by how hard you were grinding down on him and he felt his cock suddenly start to twitch again as you desperately rubbed your pussy on him.
“You’re getting me hard again,” he said with a gruff, his hands on your waist grasping you almost roughly as he moved you faster and harder on top of him, “Fuck, fuck yeah- do you feel fucking good? Grinding yourself against me like this?”
You dropped your head to meet his heated gaze as you nodded, “It feels so damn good, Steve.”
You clenched your teeth as you grasped the back of the couch now, wanting to give yourself more leverage, and Steve realized he couldn’t fucking handle this anymore as his cock hardened- he didn’t want you to come on his cock like this, thinking it would be a shitty reward compared to you sucking him off. He wanted to bury himself inside you, fucking you as deep as you could take him.
His mind was going absolutely feral at the idea your walls clenching around his cock, and he was asking you between his heavy pants, “I know I said no sex, but fuck it I need to be inside of you. Please let me fuck you, please.”
You didn’t hesitate as you said, “Yes, yes Steve please fuck me.”
Your answer was music to his ears, and he was moving you off of him and telling you to lay on your side on the couch. You practically fell onto the cushions of the large couch, with Steve squeezing behind you. You were pulling your shorts and underwear off while he kicked his own sweatpants off before he was grabbing your inner thigh and lifting your leg upward and telling you to keep it up as the hand went to his cock to stroke it a few times.
After a second or two, he positioned it right at your entrance, running the thick tip over your folds first that had you almost begging and he said in a gruff voice, “You’re fucking dripping…” He pushed his hips forward, the shaft of his cock pressing between your outer folds, letting your wetness soak him for a second before he was positioning the tip back at your entrance, gently shoving it between the folds of your pussy.
At this point, you were practically gone and had turned into nothing but a moaning, jittery mess that only wanted one thing and one thing only, which was him inside of you. You were actually starting to beg now, whimpers and pleas falling from your lips as you begged him to shove himself inside of you.
He wasted no time after that, pushing his cock deeper between your folds. The girth of him stretched you out almost immediately, and you almost choked on the spit that continued to collect in your mouth.
“Holy shit, Steve,” you told him, eyes growing slightly wide, “Please go slow.”
“I know,” Steve told you right beside your ear where his mouth was. You leaned back into him, your jaw dropping as he slowly pushed more into you, biting his lip at the feeling of you squeezing around him.
You squeezed your eyes shut, a whimper slipping past your lips as his cock stretched you out like no other had before and thinking this cock was going to ruin you because it was definitely going to be a hard one to beat, especially when it hit that spot inside of you that made your vision go starry.
You gripped the couch cushion beneath you, and buried your head into it as well as you took deep breaths, just feeling so goddamn full.
“It’s not even all the way in,” Steve told you with a smug chuckle before he kissed your earlobe gently and then your neck to try and help ease your pain of taking him specifically for the first time, “You're taking me so well though, baby, so fucking well. Tell me when you’re ready.”
After taking a few deep breaths, you lifted your head, turning it toward him and feeling his lips at the edge of your cheek as you started to nod, “I’m ready, god I’m ready.”
Steve complied almost immediately, starting to slowly pull out of you, then pushing himself back in, really holding himself back from shoving the rest of himself in because your pussy felt so fucking good around him. You leaned back on him, mouth open as you let out shattered whines along with Steve’s deep groans that were right in your ear.
It was like this for a bit, him slowly thrusting his cock in and out of you until you started to push your hips back for him, wanting him to go faster, but you actually accidentally took more of him. That almost made your scream out had it not been for his hand flying over your mouth.
“Do you wanna wake the little guy up?” Steve said quietly in your ear, voice now a rasp as well. You muttered against his palm an apology, and he shushed you as he started to move his hips at a faster pace for you, keeping his hand over your mouth still.
You tried to contain your moans, you really did, but he was fucking you so well and so deep that you couldn’t help it so thank god for the hand over your mouth as he fucked into you.
He pressed the side of his face into your hair, trying to contain his respective noises too but he sounded so loud in your ear. You grasped the couch tightly, feeling your nails even start to hurt as you felt your orgasm oncoming just from his cock.
Tears brimmed at the edge of your lash line as you moaned Steve’s name out in a muffled and broken voice, but you didn’t need to tell him you were about to come. He could feel your walls clenching down on him tighter, your body growing tense against him with every thrust that went slightly deeper than the one before.
“Go ahead, come all over my cock, baby, that’s it,” he told you breathlessly, “Oh fuck, that’s it- I can feel you.”
You mewled against his hand, feeling your walls start to spasm around him, and the intensity in your stomach twisted and turned as your orgasm built up until it finally snapped and you were cumming on his cock.
Steve had to force his own moan from feeling your walls flutter deliciously around him as you came, pressing his face into the crook of your neck, while still managing to keep himself contained because he might’ve come at the same exact time as you from this feeling.
His hold over your lips grew tighter, but you were still pretty loud as you came, shockwaves rocked through your entire body, so much that you swore you saw stars. Steve was shushing you in your ear at the same time as he slowed down his thrusts, letting you ride through your orgasm and your body still shaking because holy shit he was still fucking you.
Even with your vision blurry, and your body trembling from that mind-blowing orgasm, you could still feel his cock inside of you, thrusting at a lazy pace that made your eyes roll back and soft mewls to escape you parted lips.
It took you a second or two to realize Steve was saying something to you, but he sounded far away for a moment as the bursts of warmth still rocked through you, but you managed to hear him when you muttered something incoherent at him and he chuckled and repeated himself.
“Close your legs,” Steve told you as he slipped out of you and you did as told, thinking you were moving slower than normal when you actually did it quite fast.
Not a second after you felt his cock pressed into between your thighs, and you realized what he was doing. You pressed your thighs tighter around him, rocking back into him as his own moans got louder too. It was so fucking erotic, the feeling of his cock pressed between your closed thighs, feeling him grinding behind you as he desperately chased his own orgasm. He fucked between your thighs a few times, before he cursed loudly and pressed his chest into your back completely. With a moan of your name, he was coming for a second time.
His cum splattered all over your thighs, and unfortunately the couch as well, but mostly your thighs. It was hot against you, and you felt Steve press his face back into your hair and wrap both arms around you tightly as he panted and thrust his hips a few more times between your thighs, his own cum making it easier to slide back and forth.
His deep panting was hitting the back of your neck pleasantly, and you rubbed the back of your head on his with affection as his thrusts finally went still.
It took the both of you a few minutes to come down from your respective highs, your bodies pressed up against each other. When you did, Steve was lazily turning you around so that you could face him. You twisted around for him, your body feeling like there was a whole anvil on your chest or something.
When you managed to turn, you saw a dreamy smile on Steve’s lips and an adoring look in his gaze.
“Feeling better now?” You asked him again, and he was nodding, his messy locks of brown hair falling forward and you reached over to push them out of his face, “I’m glad I could help, honestly.”
You continued to play with his hair, something you’ve always wanted to do, and Steve licked his lips before he asked, “That wasn’t just to help me, was it?”
You met his gaze again, and said, “Well…I just heavily benefited from helping you.”
He scoffed at you before he grinned again and asked you smugly, “How long have you wanted me?” He paused, then added, “Please don’t say it was when I became a dad…”
You rolled your eyes at him as you rested your hand onto his cheek affectionately as you said, “No, it’s been way before that, when I said I wasn’t immune I meant just you.”
Steve was content with that answer, and then he saw something in your eyes before you continued to say, “I do have to admit though that…I’ve never been more attracted to you than I have been these past few months.”
He scoffed at you, but regardless smiled warmly at you. You returned it to him, and his eyes flickered down to your lips and his smile began to fall. You blinked at him, curious as to why he suddenly turned serious, afraid you’d said the wrong thing, until he was leaning in and capturing your lips with his like he wanted the moment you touched him, kissing you the way he had always wanted to.
You returned it, eyes fluttering shut as he kissed you soft and tenderly, causing more warmth than heat to erupt in your chest at the feeling of his lips consuming you entirely. His tongue slipped past your lips that parted for him, and you nearly melted on the spot…which was odd considering the events of the past hour or so.
After a good few seconds of your sweet kiss that made your heart flutter, he was leaning away to look at now with a very sleepy expression on his face. It made you smile, and you pecked him on the lips before you pressed your head into his chest and closed your eyes.
Steve wrapped an arm around you, feeling your legs entangling with each other as you both got comfortable on the couch, ready to fall asleep at any moment in this blissful embrace. And honestly, Steve felt thousands times better, and it was all thanks to you…and he hoped this wouldn’t be the last time and rather be the start of something else as his eyes fluttered shut…
Just as Steve closed his eyes, they were opening again. He found that he was alone on the couch. You were gone and there was a blue hue shining through the living room window, the way it always looked when he woke up to feed his son. He rubbed his eyes as he sat up, seeing he was in his sweats again and there was also a blanket thrown over him.
He wondered if it was a dream for a moment, but the ache in his body and the post bliss he felt all over him said otherwise. He was going to stand, and go to his son’s room when he saw you sitting on the lazy boy chair, the one that typically was covered with jackets and sometimes your bag, holding his son in your arms and holding a bottle to his mouth.
You were in a different outfit altogether, a pair of your own sweats, and a tank top, and you were looking at his son with such a warm stare that Steve could even see in the barely lit room. Steve smiled at the sight, and he settled back down onto the couch, and said in a sleepy voice, “I think Robin’s solution worked…but I wouldn’t mind doing it again.”
You lifted your eyes, taking a moment or two to realize that Steve was talking and what he said. You smirked gently and replied in a teasing voice, “Maybe take me out on a date first, and I’ll think about it.”
He smiled again as his eyes began to close again as he said, “Thursday night, I know a place…”
“It’s a date then, Steve,” you replied quietly, your eyes moving back to the baby in your arms. The last thing Steve saw before getting another hour or 2 of sleep was you smiling sweetly at his son in your arms.

“No, no, no! Chrissy! Chrissy?” Panic bleeds into Eddie’s voice, and he lets go of the ladder, staggering backwards, face going slack with horror as he stares up at the tear between worlds. At their friends who are just out of reach on the other side, screaming as they shake Chrissy’s fragile shoulders, trying desperately to snap her out of her trance.
Steve grabs Eddie, spinning him around and pulling him against his chest, both their wounds forgotten. Eddie can’t see another person die like this. He can’t see her die. Not after everything they’ve been through together. He tangles his hand in Eddie’s curls, pinning his head in the crook of Steve’s shoulder as he writhes in panic, trying to block his vision. He won’t allow Eddie to witness this again, he won’t. He can’t.
He can’t do anything to save her, but he can save Eddie from this.
Steve hates that they’re trapped here, on the other side of the gate, too far away to do anything, even though he knows that there’s nothing to be done. Chrissy is as good as dead without a Walkman. Steve clings to Eddie, breathing in the sour sink of the Upside Down as he waits for the inevitable snap of bone. For Chrissy to shatter to pieces and traumatize Max and Robin and Dustin forever as they watch her get torn apart from the inside out.
Then Eddie jerks back, ripping himself from of Steve’s arms, and lunges for the base of the ladder.
“Eddie!”
“Lucas!” he screeches. “Lucas, I have a tape! I have a tape in my locker. Metallica!” His words spill out fast and tangled, voice crackling with terror.
Lucas steps back from Chrissy, peering up at the gate in desperation. “Where?”
“Number 113, in the hall by Mrs. Click’s room! It’s unlocked, go, go, go!”
Lucas takes off like a shot, dipping out of view.
“Chrissy, please,” Robin sobs.

When Steve gets to his last year at Hawkins High, it feels like some kind of veil has been lifted right in front him. Or maybe it’s more that the veil’s actually been slowly lifting for years, and he’s noticing it all the more because it’s no longer there.
Either way, when he receives his yearbook, it doesn’t seem like the huge deal that his younger self would’ve made it out to be; he flicks through the pictures half-heartedly, doesn’t even care when the candid ones taken at sporting events catch him in unflattering poses, lip jutting out in concentration.
If he tried to voice his disinterest, Henderson would probably spout off some precocious shit about societal expectations, and Steve would pretend to nod sagely before stealing whatever dorky hat he happened to be wearing—it’s not like he could let the little shit suspect that he occasionally had a point, Steve would never hear the end of it.
The yearbook signings are predictably inescapable: people passing their books back and forth in class or in the cafeteria—and that one’s a risky move, with the threat of drinks spilling on the pages, whether accidental or malicious.
Steve thinks the fever’s dwindled out until he spends a free period in the school library. The seniors typically all bunch together in one of the far corners, the spots with the comfiest seats—loners included, like the perks of age for once outweigh the usual ridicule.
But that silent truce is not exactly being upheld, Steve notes—Eddie Munson is sitting alone at a nearby table.
It becomes painfully obvious when the signing starts up again. There’s a cluster of girls on the yearbook committee who initiate it, and soon every senior in reach is either passing over their own book or signing one.
Almost every senior.
It’s not like Eddie’s the only person ever to be held back. He’s not even the only one to be held back for next year, either: John Nelson off the swim team is in the same position, and he’s still been asked to sign.
But Steve knows that’s not what the source of exclusion is, not really.
He’s gotten good at spotting silent cruelty—good at avoiding it too, before his popularity gave him a temporary shield.
It’s all just bullshit, he thinks. It’s been a recurring thought lately.
He brings out his own yearbook because he knows it’s expected. When it’s finally passed back round to him, he ends up right near the seat opposite Eddie’s, just by chance.
But actually sitting there is his own choice.
He can tell that Eddie has spotted him even though he’s not looked up from whatever homework he’s doing; there’s a silent tension in the way he’s holding his pen.
Steve mulls it over before he asks the question. It could blow up in his face, but what did that matter, really? In the grand scheme of things, it would hardly count as a major embarrassment; it’s not like it’d be any more mortifying than telling his dad that he didn’t get into any colleges whatsoever.
So he pushes his yearbook across the table, because what the hell.
“Wanna sign?”
Eddie glances up. There’s a guarded look in his eyes, and Steve can almost hear him mentally replaying the question.
“Pardon?” Eddie says with pointed emphasis, like he’s daring Steve, let it drop and we’ll say no more about it, Harrington.
Steve doesn’t take it back. He shrugs and flicks open the yearbook, finds a blank spot and taps it once with his finger, a silent offer.
Eddie stares like Steve’s a riddle, like he’s wondering just who the show’s for—but the other students have turned away, have gone back to their seats, yearbooks temporarily forgotten.
Eddie’s hold on his pen relaxes, ever so slightly.
“You sure, Harrington?” he says. There’s still a wary edge to his voice, but there’s an undercurrent of something else, too, like he’s secretly amused despite himself. “Haven’t you heard what folks say? I could curse you.”
Steve scoffs. “That all you’ve got? I’ve dealt with way worse, man,” he says mildly.
A corner of Eddie’s mouth twitches into a surprised smile. Then it’s gone almost like it had never been in the first place, his gaze turning thoughtful rather than defensive.
And obviously this isn’t Eddie’s first rodeo at the whole senior year thing. Steve wonders if there’s a veil that’s been lifted for him too, wonders if he can see straight through it right now.
The bell rings.
Eddie stands up, gathering his stuff.
Steve thinks that’s the end of it: something that’s neither a success or a failure.
But then, lightning fast, Eddie darts across the table and scribbles something on the open page. Slams the yearbook shut and pushes it back over, and it feels like a challenge, like some of his caginess is back—like he’s just daring Steve to reveal that it had been a joke all along—
“Bet you’re counting down the days till you can hold your own copy, huh?” Steve says dryly, as he stuffs the book into his bag.
It’s a risk; he knows Eddie could easily take it as pure ridicule, could misinterpret it as Steve throwing the failed school years back in his face.
Eddie just shakes his head, but he could be laughing—the moment’s gone too quickly for Steve to know for sure.
“Nah, Harrington,” Eddie says easily, thrown over his shoulder as he leaves, “those things aren’t worth the paper they’re printed on.”
Steve doesn’t check the yearbook until he’s home. He eventually finds Eddie’s signature, simple black ink right in the upper corner of one page.
Good luck, Steve. —Eddie
Some of the letters are bunched a little too close together, drifting upwards on the blank page, as if they usually need lined paper to guide them—left-handed, Steve thinks vaguely.
Within a sea of scrawled nicknames and loudly enthusiastic messages, Steve finds that he kind of likes how mundane Eddie’s truly is. Likes the sign off with minimal fuss. Just “Eddie.” Likes how he was just “Steve”, too.
And yeah, if anyone needed to be told good luck, Steve thinks, with the kind of amusement that only comes from distance—pictures his past self, freaking out about monsters come to life.
He slots the yearbook into his bookcase. By summer he might forget about it altogether, left to gather dust as he works for 3 bucks an hour, but for now he marks its significance: something real, hidden alongside the bullshit.

I have no time right now to elaborate too deeply on this thought but I just had a brain worm and I need to write it down before I forget. Who knows, I may elaborate and make this a whole thing with dialogue tonight, we’ll see. TW for depictions of Steve’s injuries post s4, vomiting, gore(?)
Steve refuses medical treatment at the end of s4, they drop off Eddie and he hides in plain site until it’s time to take Dustin and Robin home.
They stop at Dustin’s first, both he and Robin getting out to get Claudia Hugs (I just know she gives INCREDIBLE hugs). He drops Robin off at home with her promising to keep her walkie on their frequency. And then he goes home alone.
He tries to shower, it hurts his feet and back too much. He tries to change the “bandage” but just gently tugging almost makes him black out from pain. So he collapses on his bed and passes out.
Days go by, he’s trying to act normal, like he isn’t always running a fever and his sides are itching and starting to smell under the cologne he practically bathes in. It works for a few days at least, but Claudia gets suspicious by day 3 post earthquake when Steve shows up for lunch with flushed cheeks. 2 days later he doesn’t show up.
She drives over alone, Dustin is at the Wheeler’s, and she lets herself in with the key Steve gave her and Dustin after last summer. She calls his name, doesn’t get an answer but something smells off. She’s a nurse, she recognizes the scent of disease.
She hurries upstairs and finds Steve in bed, only wearing boxers and the filthy scrap of cloth wrapped around his stomach. He’s sweating and has vomited on himself at least twice, recently too. She immediately knows that he is what smells, she can see the pus and blood on his abdomen. He’s delirious, mumbling to himself and part of her wants to shut down and cry, to go cradle this boy, her son in all ways but blood, but she can’t. She steels herself and walks to his bedside to feel his forehead, almost recoiling from how hot his skin is.
As she keeps checking him over, she grabs the phone on his bedside table and calls 911, cradling the phone between her ear and shoulder to keep working. When the operator answers she explains who she is, where she is and what’s happening.
It’s a blur after that until she’s sitting in the hospital waiting room and she realizes that 1. her shirt and her hands reek of Steve’s blood, and 2. she’s completely alone in the waiting room. Swallowing her tears, Claudia goes over to the payphone and fishes out some coins to call the Buckely’s. Robin’s father picks up but quickly hands it over when Claudia mentions Steve.
She will never forget the choked off sound of pure distress Robin makes when she hears what’s happening.
Hours pass, Robin had arrived shortly after the call and her and Claudia have been curled up together in the waiting room every since. They haven’t called anyone else, haven’t even thought about it, too worried about Steve. Later, Claudia will remember the other kids who adore Steve, Hopper who treats Steve like a son. But in that moment, still not knowing if her boy is okay, she can’t.
Finally, a doctor steps out, clearly fresh from surgery, to speak with them. She explains that Steve had a very severe infection in multiple wounds, especially the ones on his side. They had to debride the wounds, which is what took so long. He was lucky that she found him when he did and that he hadn’t picked up any truly terrible bacteria. He hadn’t gone septic, thankfully, but he was going to be on seriously strong antibiotics for a while. She explained that he was in the ICU and they aren’t supposed to let anyone but family see him.
Claudia wanted to scream and sob and go find the Harringtons and get them to come see their son, but before she even says anything Robin explains that Steve’s parents had all but disowned him and her and Claudia were both in his emergency contacts, not his parents.
The doctor lets them see him. They have to wear face masks and gloves, but they can see him. Claudia had never seen him look so small. And there, in that ICU room, her and Robin both broke and started crying. That was how Jim Hopper found them when he arrived shortly after, the nurses having called him. He’s wearing a mask and gloves but his eyes are wild and scared. He nearly falls over when he sees Steve.
Steve is unconscious for almost two weeks, though the first four or five days or so were due to sedatives - the doctor wanted him to rest and let the antibiotics work. After he was taken off the sedatives he was moved out of the ICU, to a regular room where other people could visit. The kids came and decorated his room, even brought something Eddie had “commissioned” from Will (it looked like Steve ripping one of those creepy things from that alien movie apart, which she really didn’t get). Joyce brought him the quilt from her couch that he always enjoyed at movie nights and Robin came in every other day with his shampoo and conditioner to wash his hair for him (on days she didn’t come to wash his hair, she would come do something else with him. One day Claudia walked in on her painting his nails and her heart felt like it was melting).
The day he finally woke up was the first day Robin hadn’t been able to come. Her parents had forced her to take a break and get some sleep, so Claudia was there on her own just reading a book. She was so engrossed in it that she dropped it in shock when she heard the person on the bed in front of her make noise. Her eyes instantly went to Steve and she could see him scrunching up his face and groaning.
Claudia was by his side in a heartbeat, gently grabbing his hand and brushing a hand over his cheek, speaking softly to let him know she was there. His eyes slowly squinted open, clearly struggling to get the energy to move at all. Their eyes locked and his mouth twitched, like he wanted to smile at her. Then, as she was watching him with tears in her eyes, he opened his mouth and spoke for the first time in weeks.
“Mom….”

Eddie, who has never wanted kids and always feels guilty about it even though Steve had been more than understanding and happily agreed, suffering the horror of baby fever from the second he sees Steve gently cradling Nancys newborn.
Eddie, who immediately falls head over heels for the idea of having kids with Steve when he hears the soft little coos Steve makes whilst ranting about how he's going to the best uncle in the world and squishing the little babies fat cheeks.
Eddie, who slams the forms they have to fill out in front of Steve the very next morning and says "I think if I don't get to see you raise a child and be the best dad the world has ever seen then I think I might die actually".

“You know, you’d probably be more comfortable in bed.”
Steve groans. Quietly.
“I’m gonna take that noise to mean, ‘Yes, Eddie, you’re so right, I should take my sick ass to bed!’, to which I am going to say, ‘Thank you, Steve for acknowledging how right I am.’”
If Eddie’s plan is to irritate Steve until he manages to get up off the couch and shamble himself to their bedroom, he’s on the right track.
But the thing is, Eddie is right (unfortunately) – Steve knows he’d be more comfortable in bed. The couch is too short and the cushions are too worn and the seats are just a little too narrow for him to really relax. But at the same time, the flu is trying to murder him, and he’s got a fever, and everything aches, and he doesn’t want to move.
Rather than explaining any of this to Eddie through his sore throat, Steve instead grumbles, “Your impression of me sucks.”
“Well, I’ll work on that while you’re resting,” Eddie drawls.
Steve manages a faintly agreeable-sounding noise and then pulls a throw pillow over his face.
“Steve,” Eddie says.
Steve doesn’t move.
“Steve,” Eddie tries again.
Steve is still not compelled to move.
“Steeeve. Come on.” Eddie reaches out to poke Steve in the side, who belatedly raises a hand to swat him away.
“Don’t wanna move,” Steve mumbles.
“You’re never allowed to call me dramatic again,” Eddie says.
“Mph,” Steve replies.
He hates being sick – really sick, the kind that his body just won’t tolerate pushing through. If he can’t pretend to be well, he feels he has no other recourse but to be dramatic.
“Do you want me to carry you?” Eddie offers. He sounds like he’s trying not to laugh.
Steve snorts. “Yeah, sure.”
“Alright, let’s go,” Eddie declares, and Steve has just enough time to pull the pillow off his face and look up before Eddie is scooping him up off the couch.
“What the fuck!” Steve shouts, arms locking almost instinctively around Eddie’s neck as Eddie gets one arm settled beneath the crook of his knees and the other around his back.
“Relax, we’ll have you in bed in no time,” Eddie says, swinging around to face the living room door with a grunt and trundling forward.
“You’re gonna drop me,” Steve says, winding his arms more tightly around Eddie’s neck; he’s pretty sure no one has picked him up or carried him anywhere since he was maybe eight years old.
“Ye of little faith,” Eddie replies, only slightly strained.
“Me of exactly the right amount of faith, which isn’t a whole damn lot, no,” Steve insists, ducking forward when Eddie lists a little too close to one of the hallway walls.
“You’ll be fine,” Eddie says. “I’m not gonna drop you.”
They reach the bedroom door and, as he’d promised, Eddie doesn’t drop Steve.
He does, however, whack Steve’s head on the doorjamb.
And then he drops Steve.
It doesn’t end up being much of a fall; Eddie only loses his hold on Steve’s legs, and with Steve’s death grip around Eddie’s neck, he mostly just lands awkwardly on his feet before tumbling down onto his ass with a thud and a quiet, “Ow.”
Eddie is on his knees beside him in an instant. “Holy shit, I hit your head.”
“Yeah, thanks for that. My head was the one part of me that didn’t hurt,” Steve grumbles, rubbing behind his ear, where his skull had connected with the doorframe.
“Oh my god, I hit your head,” Eddie says again.
Steve blinks at him. “Yeah, we established that. Did you hit your head, too, or–”
“Shit, shit, are you dizzy? Is your vision blurry? Wait, fuck, you’re not wearing your contacts – are things blurrier than normal?” Eddie places his hands on either side of Steve’s face and stares into his eyes, as if he’ll be able to tell that way if Steve’s brain has finally been knocked loose. “Do you feel anything, like, swelling? Bleeding? Leaking?”
“I’m pretty sure you can’t feel that sort of thing happening,” Steve says, and Eddie’s face crumples.
“Shit, you’re right, I should take you to the doctor,” Eddie declares, moving to stand up.
Steve grabs him by the arm and pulls him back down. “Eddie, I’m fine.”
“No, your brain could be leaking or some shit, and you’re gonna have, like, an aneurism, and you’re gonna die, and it’s going to be all my fault because I hit your head and I killed you,” Eddie rambles, shaking his own head.
Steve isn’t sure if any of that is even correct, but he’s willing to bet Robin has been sharing her worries about Steve’s head trauma with Eddie. “That’s not–”
“Your head is the one part of you we really can’t afford to hit!”
“As opposed to the rest of me?” Steve asks, one eyebrow raised.
“If it comes down to it, yeah!” Eddie bursts out. “Do you even know how many times you’ve hit your head?”
“Are you asking because you don’t know, or because you’re afraid I don’t remember?” Steve asks drily. “Because you weren’t even there for most of those times, man.”
“It’s not funny,” Eddie says, and he’s definitely trying to sound stern, but he’s verging a little bit on whiny; he seems like he’s starting to calm down, since Steve has so far failed to collapse and die.
“Okay, then, seriously, Eddie – I’m fine,” Steve promises. “You didn’t even hit me that hard, it barely hurts.”
“Steve, I love you, but you have a severely skewed sense of pain and should not be trusted to rate it on your own,” Eddie says.
Steve rolls his eyes. “Fine. Here,” he grabs one of Eddie’s hands and pulls it around to where his head had hit the jamb, “feel. Are there any bumps? Cuts? Anything seem out of place?”
With a frown of deep concentration, Eddie runs his fingers gently from the top of Steve’s skull to the base, occasionally pressing a little harder, but never hard enough to hurt.
“Good?” Steve asks, once Eddie’s had a minute to feel for himself.
Eddie’s shoulders slump. “I guess.”
“Ah, don’t be disappointed. Maybe it’ll be a concussion next time,” Steve offers.
Eddie shoots him a wildly unimpressed glare. “That’s not funny.”
“It’s a little funny,” Steve decides, but he takes Eddie’s hand from his head and brings it around to press a kiss to the back of it.
There’s definitely a smile ticking at the corners of Eddie’s mouth, but Steve doesn’t point it out.
“Do you want some ice, or something?” Eddie asks, and Steve shakes his head.
“What I want is to walk over to the bed and lie down, and I want you to come with me,” Steve says. “And in an hour, I want you to bring me more Tylenol and some of that really good tea that Joyce sent over. Deal?”
This time, Eddie does smile. “I think I can handle that.”
Steve smiles back. “Good.”
They get themselves situated, Eddie at Steve’s back with an arm slung over him, a single blanket pulled up to their waists (“Pretty sure you still have a fever, sweetheart,” Eddie had insisted. “You’re gonna cook yourself to death if you cover up.”), and in the dim, sleepy light filtering through their curtains, Steve presses back further into Eddie’s chest.
“I like that you care so much,” he says quietly, and Eddie squeezes him a little more tightly.
He shifts enough that he can press his lips to the spot where Steve had bumped his head. “Always will,” he murmurs, and hell if Steve doesn’t believe him.
[Prompt: Bridal carries]

Eddie follows up his Tiktok of an old home video of him sick with a current video of him sick. He’s congested as hell and his voice is practically gone when he croaks out, “Don’t marry teachers. They carry the plague.”
“It’s allergies. You have allergies.”
Eddie coughs pathetically and then pans the camera over to the other side of the bed. Steve, who will get a fever if you look at him too hard, has his back to Eddie.
Eddie is not reaching for him but Steve says anyways, “Don’t touch me or I will melt like a spider made of people.”
“…What does that even mean?!!!”

Everyone jokes about Steve being the babysitter or the mom friend, but no one actually appreciates everything he does until he gets sick. Steve is the epitome of a doting parent; sure, he's only twenty and the seven kids he's adopted aren't actually his in any legal way, but those kids are his pride and fucking joy. Anyone who sees Steve with those kids can tell that he loves them deeply, which is why Steve is the only person in the Party that can convince their parents to allow anything- their parents KNOW that their kids will not only be well looked after, but they'll be genuinely enjoying themselves too.
Because he's a single mom except he's actually just barely out of his teenage years with no kids, he gets a lot of shit from everyone about it; he's known almost exclusively to the Party as Mama Steve (when he isn't in earshot of course). That's all fine by Steve, he always wanted a big family and now he has it. The problems start to appear when the Party realizes that Steve Harrington flat out ignores his own needs until they're so pressing that he's physically unable to do anything.
It all starts when Robin is told by Keith, of all people, that Steve has called in sick. Robin, of course, panics and calls him, and when he doesn't answer she calls Eddie to check on him. He and Steve had gotten closer since spring break, so it wasn't unusual for a member of the party to call either Eddie or Steve to check in on the other.
Eddie checks in to find Steve Harrington, badass warrior prince incarnate, sobbing from a blanket mountain on the couch in his living room. No one has ever actually seen Steve cry before, so Eddie freaks out, but it's just the result of a high fever and watching Old Yeller by himself. After calming the sick man, Eddie managed to coax some medicine into him and call Family Video to let Robin know that, yes, Steve is alive and no, he wasn't going to die of fever, but he only manages to get Steve to sleep by reading to him (Eddie finds it disgustingly adorable, even more so later when Nancy mentions that Steve loves stories but struggles with what he calls "moving letters"). And for the next two weeks, Steve is down for the count. Joyce and Claudia Henderson take turns making sure Steve is alright (Joyce because Steve is one of Her Kids, and Claudia because Steve is the Older Son she never had) while Eddie, Nancy, Jonathan, and Robin all try to take his place.
By the end of the first day, Nancy calls it quits: Mike is a bullheaded terror who only ever seems to like Will, El, or Eddie, and even then he doesn't always listen to them, so the Wheeler siblings fight even more ferociously than usual. She can't get El or Erica to listen, either; Erica is a force to be reckoned with, and El will only nod passively before doing what she wants anyway. By the end of day three, Jonathan is out. He won't say what happened, but he told Max to be nicer to the Party one time and, ten minutes later, he was tearfully saying that the kids were little monsters.
Robin lasts longer, almost an entire week, by chattering at the kids until they give up and listen to her. She meets her match when Dustin and Erica try to commandeer the Family Video computer again: Dusting sneaks past and almost breaks the computer just trying to get to it while Erica does Erica and argues until Robin the Rambler runs out of words. The morning of day seven is very dark for her.
Eddie, through what he believes to be the universe's acknowledgement of the depth of his affection for Steve and also sheer force of will, lasts the whole two weeks, but just barely. Mike argues over everything, no matter what; Will is skittish at the best of times and disappears constantly (thankfully, not like his Upside Down episodes - the boy just can't stop getting distracted and wandering away from the group), only to reappear directly behind Eddie and scaring him into an early grave; Lucas gets frustrated easily and can never seem to find the right words to communicate his thoughts and feelings, so he snarks and lashes out before awkwardly trying to mend the situation; Erica is so completely herself that it can be dizzying when the full force of that hurricane is directed towards Eddie; Dustin practically follows Eddie around like a little duckling, demanding updates on Steve or ranting about one of his many interests; El spends most of her time with the Party learning about how girls her age act through Max or practicing her braiding on Eddie. The worst of them all, though, is Max. Despite having healed up, she's still in physical therapy to rebuild her muscle strength and dexterity, and her eyesight is bad enough now that there's talk of her getting a service animal. It isn't that she needs a little extra attention that makes her the worst, though: it's that somehow, she still chases the most mischief. Eddie has only narrowly managed to keep her from assaulting no less that nine people in the two weeks that Steve is sick, and he knows she's definitely tried to commit arson at least twice that often.
Finally, after two weeks, Steve feels better enough to return to his usual activity, and Eddie begs him to never get sick again.

Bedside Manner
for @acasualcrossfade request for "the infection has spread"
"Some birdie told me that you have been causing a fuss, Wayne, is that true?"
Wayne huffs from his hospital bed, glasses sliding down his nose. He places the newspaper he was reading on the table beside him. "You tell that Robbie of yours to stop exaggerating. It was only a small request."
Steve raises his eyebrows at his favorite patient (Dustin tells him he isn't supposed to have favorites, but he also used to cry anytime he picked up Max before him when they were younger, so what does he know) and gives him a knowing look. "Robin listens to no man, Wayne, you know this. You're better off sending that message through her wife. Besides, small? She was telling me you refused to have any other nurse help you because I wasn't here last night. Which surprised me since you are always pushing me on about taking a vacation. "
Wayne opens his mouth, but Steve presses on. "And the fact Robin was even in the room means they called a psych consult, so I can only imagine how bad it was."
Wayne grumbles like a little kid being scolded for getting his hands caught in the cookie jar. "Yea, well, it was a bad night, kid."
Steve feels his shoulders sag, he takes off his glasses and rubs a hand down his face before placing them back on. "Sorry, Wayne, I had a bad migraine last night. Nance and Robs wouldn't even let me pass the entrance. Bad news?"
"Kid, don't stress yourself out over me. I'm just your patient, and more so, I am just a cranky old man." Wayne patted Steve's knee as he sat down next to him.
"C'mon, Wayne. You're more than that. I'd like to think seeing you in and out of here the last year has made us friends. Although I gotta say, you're the only friend I have that I'll be glad if I don't get to see again, given the circumstances. So, what's the news?"
"The infection has spread."
Steve takes in a deep breath, he tries not to panic, but any infection in a hospital can be deadly, especially for a cancer patient like Wayne. "Incision site?"
Steve must not be as good at hiding his emotions as he used to be because Wayne jumps to ease his worry. "No, kid, don't worry. The surgery was a success. Just got that hospital fever, the good old bronchitis. But it just means I'm here longer than I have to. It also means my nephew is on edge, and I don't know if I can take a second longer of his hovering."
Steve laughed wetly, thankful for the topic change. "Ah yes, the mysterious nephew of yours that I've never met. The way you talk about him almost tempts me into switching to the day shift, sounds like he might be entertaining. But only almost."
"Always wondered why you were always working the nights, most of the others seem to switch. Not a big fan of the day?"
Steve shakes his head gently, "No, I like the quiet here at night. Like getting to know the patients without having to worry about fixing ten million things. Don't get me wrong, it has its downfalls. Like the doctors can be horrible at night, never tell Dr. Wheeler that or Robbie will kill me, and the food is awful. But there is something special about it here at night. So sorry, your ridiculous nephew isn't enough to tempt me."
Wayne smirked, "What if I told you he was a looker and single?"
Steve blushes slightly. He is used to patients trying to pawn him off to their relatives, it came with being a young male nurse, but typically it didn't phase him. But Steve has become close with Wayne, so hearing him suggest he get together with his nephew has him flustered. "I'm good, Wayne, thanks. Gave up on the dating scene a while ago. Not many people can keep up with a guy who works nights and suffers from severe head trauma."
"Shame, Eddie likes the nights too. I'd reckon yal would get along."
"I'm pretty sure we would need more than that, Wayne."
Wayne smiles fondly at Steve. "You don't need a whole lot to build a connection, son. Me and Linda, god rest her soul, only started dating for our mutual love of mugs. And we may not have had long together, but our love was strong. Besides, there is more yal would have in common than just the night shift."
Steve huffs a laugh, "Oh yea, like what?" The least he can do is humor the man.
"Well, you both care about me deeply."
Steve blushes again, "C'mon, Wayne. I'm your nurse. I'm kinda paid to care."
Wayne won't hear any of it, "No, son, it's more than that. You take your break in here every night. You make sure to record the game at home for me because they only have the news here. And last night, you tried to come in with a migraine, even though we both know I am the only patient you can stand right now."
Steve doesn't know what to say back. Wayne is right, of course. Steve has been spending all of his time with the man, giving him extra care. Steve isn't bad with his other patients, he goes above and beyond most of his coworkers, but there is something special about Wayne.
"You got nothing, kid, you know I'm right. Remind me a lot of my nephew. Before visiting hours ended is when I got the news of having to stay longer. Kid almost threw a fit when they kicked him out. Swore he was gonna break in to stay the night with me. I told him not to worry since you would be there, I brag about you too, ya know. When he found out today you weren't here, that boy threw a fit again. Swear he gets his tantrums from his father. Said he was gonna sneak back in tonight. Make sure I had company. That 'the man' couldn't stop him. That if he ran into you, he was gonna have a word with you."
Steve can't help the snort that shakes his body, "I'd like to see him get passed Hop first."
Wayne starts to chuckle, too, "Eds may have had his fair share of escaping the law, but no man moves as fast as Jim in a security uniform."
Steve is fully laughing now, "I know, right? It's like those pants make him aerodynamic or something. No way your nephew is getting by."
It is almost as if Steve's words summon what happens next. There in the doorway is the most gorgeous man he's ever seen, even though he is bent over and out of breath.
"Eds?" Wayne questions, clearly surprised. Steve has to mask his face and quickly before Wayne catches him ogling his nephew. Steve is finding it difficult, though. The man, Eddie, despite his out-of-breath appearance, is stunning. His long curly hair is thrown up in a bun, showing off the piercings up his ears. His clothes are simple but suiting, ripped jeans and a black band tee. Tattoos cover his entire body, and Steve wants to ask about every single one of them.
The most surprising thing about him isn't that he got by Hop (although he has questions for that later), no the most surprising thing to Steve is that Wayne somehow knew his exact type, which most people assume wrong in that department.
Eddie awakens an old craving inside Steve that he thought he had buried long ago.
"Wayne, you would not believe what I just went to get up here. The story I have for you, oh boy. You're gonna love it. Who knew security guards could move that fast. Anyway, I hope that nurse boy of yours is here tonight because I am ready to—" Eddie stops mid-rant when his eyes land on Steve, a lovely blush blossoming across his pale cheeks.
"I believe what you are trying to say is, what was it, Wayne? Oh yea, 'have a word with me,'" Steve laughs softly.
Eddie sputters, "Wayne!?!" His blushing becomes deeper as the seconds pass by.
Wayne just chuckles as Steve stands. "Don't be mad at your Uncle, I think he was just trying to make me feel better. I am sorry I wasn't here last night for the news. Got my head knocked around too much as a kid—" Steve taps his head with his knuckles, "—so I suffer from migraines sometimes. I really did try to come in, but well—you met Jim. He's pretty fast." Steve worries his lip. Eddie's eyes follow.
"Well, I can't be too mad now, can I?" Eddie swallows nervously before a smirk spreads across his face, switching from shy to confident in two seconds flat. Steve shouldn't be turned on by that. "The pretty face helps too. I'm pretty sure you could convince me to give you my kidney right about now. I'm Eddie, which I know you know by now, and you are...?"
Steve puts his hand out for a shake, "Nurse Harrington. But most people call me Steve."
Eddie grabs his hand gently and brings the back of it to his lips. "Stevie, a pleasure, really." A light kiss is placed on Steve's knuckles. Stevie, he thinks. That's a new one. And he isn't mad about it, at all. In fact, the butterflies in his stomach want him to get Eddie to say it again.
Steve catches Wayne's smug face in the corner of his eye as Steve begins to blush again.
"I'm just gonna—I'll be right back." Steve stutters.
"Leaving so soon?" Eddie says disappointed.
Steve has the sudden urge to fix the frown on his face. "No, no! Just, uh, gonna call Jim and tell him not to send out a search party. That it's okay if you stay. I'll keep an eye on you."
Eddie's face breaks out into a brilliant smile, "Really, Stevie? You gonna keep me around?"
Steve's heart skips a beat, "If I can help it."

Dom Steve Fic Recs
Strange as Angels (soft dom steve) by @munsonkitten
Eddie hasn't been able to get himself off in months, and now he's high, sweaty, and horny, thinking about the very man sitting in his room in nothing but a wife beater and a pair of tiny athletic shorts, and he thinks he might die. Steve notices. Of course, Steve fucking notices, what, with all the squirming Eddie's doing. Steve offers to help get Eddie off. As friends do. (As long as those friends are completely in love with each other.)
Like The Hero Who Never Ran (dom awakening series) by callmejude
While Steve and Dustin are searching for survivors, they're surprised to find Eddie alive, hiding out in Rick's cabin. Steve takes up the task of caring for him while staying in his trailer.
Genius Loci (dom bottom, magic steve) by @sayesayes
It’s 1986, and Steve falls in love with a boy who is leaving. It’s 1990, and Eddie comes back home. The fic where Steve is a selectively mute, homesteading, truck-driving witch with head injuries and also somehow it's canonverse.
(Don't) cream your pants (soft dom steve awakening series) by @corrodedbisexual
“Don’t know how to cream your pants, huh?” Steve asks, unable to conceal a smirk. He hears a quiet whine as Eddie seems to try and make himself disappear inside the couch. “Want me to show you how?”
Gilded (dom steve, blindfolds, ice play) by @cheshiredogao3
Steve and Eddie are looking forward to a weekend all to themselves, but it doesn’t go as planned.
Trouble Looks Good On You (wip, spanking, kink discovery) by me indelicate
It happens like a fever dream. The first time Steve gives Eddie a swift smack on the ass, it’s obviously just an old jock habit that’s stuck with him. It wasn’t meant to have Eddie’s knees going weak, or turn his blood hot under his skin, or give him a brand in the shape of Steve Harrington’s hand, or— Nope, because Eddie’s not even into that. But then, it happens again. Or, Steve keeps accidentally awakening Eddie’s new kinks.
You Make Me Feel Like I Am Whole Again (wip, dom top and dom bottom steve) by @munsonkitten
Eddie has never felt like his body belongs to him. It gets worse after he's nearly mauled to death, left with scars and healing wounds, a lopsided chest, and more trauma stacked on top of everything already wrong with him. Steve Harrington finds out Eddie's trans by accident after the bats, and Eddie finds out Steve's surprisingly okay with it. More than okay with it.
Bite Through These Wires (soft dom steve's strap game series 🤭) by @steves-strapcollection
“Wouldn’t you be Ken, though?” Steve had hoped Eddie would ask a question like that and he had to refrain from punching the air and ruining his punchline. “I come with all the coolest accessories, so clearly I’m still Barbie,” Steve retorted, his voice going just a bit deeper as he leaned closer to Eddie.
Relax (Lay it Back) (soft dom yoga instructor steve) by @wynnyfryd
Five times yoga instructor Steve teaches Eddie how to chill the fuck out, and the one time he learns his lesson.
Melt Me On Your Tongue (soft dom, bathing) by me indelicate
“This okay?” “Yeah it’s— shit, it’s more than okay, Steve.” “… you’re crying, Eds.” Eddie can’t hold back a choked off noise then, somewhere between an overwhelmed laugh and a sob. “No one’s ever done this to me before.” He doesn’t know if he means no one’s ever given him a bath, or braided his hair, or just any of the things Steve does for him, really. Eddie's never had a Steve before.
Kiss Me (Beneath the Milky Twilight) (pleasure dom steve, virgin eddie) by @gorgeousgreymatter-x
Eddie has never been kissed. Steve apparently would very much like to volunteer to fix this.
Getting Lost in the Dark is My Favorite Part (wip, masochist virgin eddie, kink discovery) by queerontilmorning
After his near-death experience, Eddie decides it's time to get rid of his pesky virginity and heads to a gay bar. It leads to some... realizations... for both him and Steve.
You're a Sweet Shot of Kerosene (When I Threw it Back, it Poisoned Me) (wip, mob boss steve) by @gorgeousgreymatter-x
Whatever fucked up shit Eddie’s father had inadvertently roped him into simply by being what he was — a shit-stain excuse for a sperm donor who preferred sticking a needle in his arm to taking care of his family — well, Eddie’s pretty sure it’s about to be him that pays that price. And maybe Eddie’s delirious, because by the time it’s apparently his turn and they’re dragging him down some hallway (and yeah, it’s not like Eddie’s not trying to put up a fight, but it feels almost performative at this point considering he’s pretty much hogtied here), the only real thought he has when they deposit him on yet another cold, wet tile floor is this: Uncle Wayne is gonna be so pissed at me if I get shot in the head tonight.
closer to you (soft dom steve) by @natesfwl
“C’mon baby, where's my little rockstar?” Steve spanks him, groans when he feels Eddie tense up around him from the impact, “Perform for me.” “You let me penetrate you” Eddie stutters out the line as he lifts himself up with his knees. “There you go,” Steve whispers, watching as Eddie fights to keep his eyes locked onto Steve’s when he sinks back down. or the really self-indulgent fic of steddie fucking to the song closer by NIN.
Destroy The Silence (drummer steve) by @artaxlivs
Steve becomes the drummer for Corroded Coffin and Eddie can't handle his thirst
Trouble and Temptation (series wip, businessman dilf steve) by @heartharps
“Come on, Harrington. I’d lay you badly but I’d lay you gladly.” When Steve looked up, he was glaring, as stern and serious as ever. “Eddie, let me remind you that as far as I'm concerned, nothing has ever happened between us other than of a professional nature.”
Sting, and Other Brainworms (series with switching) by @riality-check
“Do you need to go down, baby?” Eddie gets like this, sometimes. Stuck between overwhelmed and incredibly bored. Steve watches until he remembers that they have a way to fix this. Eddie calls it a hard reset. Steve calls it fucking him until he can’t see straight.
Edification (sadist steve) by aristal
“Alright Munson.” She bares her teeth and grins like a wolf. “Tell the class: what’s your biggest sexual fantasy?” A slow smile creeps into his features, and his dark eyes flash. “Oh, you’re asking the good questions, Wheeler.” He takes another long pull of his joint, dragging the moment out for dramatic effect. Steve doesn’t care. He wants to know the answer. He needs to know. Eventually, Eddie blows out the smoke, eyes a little hazy as he grins at the ceiling. “I’ve always liked the idea of being slapped around and choked in someone’s car.”
In My Boxers, Half Stoned (dom bottom Steve) by eddywow
"You can," Eddie said, almost sounding like he was nodding along to his words. The image was too pure for Steve. "You could say anything you want to me and I'd- I think I'd be into it. Because I saw your pics and like, I know your face isn't in them but- but I really like them. Is it okay that I liked them?"
Insatiable (public, skirts, cages) by @cheshiredogao3
When their club ritual is rudely interrupted, Steve and Eddie make a point of proving their bond—rather publicly.
Done Deal (series with switching) by @morningberriesao3
Steve Harrington doesn't have any money with him, so he offers to pay Eddie Munson some other way.
Lovebite (sub vampire eddie) by hellcore
It shouldn’t feel so good, being tasted.
* The next few don't have the tag but in my opinion they have dom Steve vibes and I want to include them here (:
Cyclical (wip, time loop fic, rimming, switching, lots of smut with plot) by @cuips-not-cute
steve keeps finding himself back in the boathouse where everything started, wrapped up in the arms of a boy who can’t stop dying. he's desperate to rewrite the timeline, trying everything he can think of to fix it. including falling in love.
Dirty Words by @morningberriesao3
Steve gives Eddie a lesson on dirty talk, but things start to get carried away.
Memorize My Number, That's Why I Got A Phone (phone sex) by queerontilmorning
while on tour with Corroded Coffin, Eddie makes an important phone call to Steve.
My Right Hand Man (spanking, kink discovery) by @entanglednow
In which movie night takes an unexpected turn, and it's surprisingly easy to just let it happen.
Shot Right Through (pierced eddie) by @entanglednow
Steve overhears a conversation between Eddie and Robin, and then spends a few weeks trying to think of anything else.
Pleased To Meet You (demon steve) by midnightdrive
Eddie accidentally summons a demon who is bound to fulfill his every wish. He, somehow, gets more than he had bargained for.

If I Should Stay
Holy shit, y’all are insane. My tag list is over a HUNDRED (wtf y’all I’m kissing every single one of you on the forehead it was EIGHT before this) and the first part got over 800 notes in 24 hours. I love y’all 😂 With that being said though, Tumblr only allows for 50 mentions per post. So I’m drafting another post with the other 50-odd mentions that I’ll link this to. Unfortunately I’m not willing to make more than two posts, meaning my tag list is officially CLOSED. I’m so sorry, y’all, please know I love every single one of you SO much!! If you’d like to follow along and didn’t make it onto the taglist, go ahead and follow the ‘#if I should stay’ tag. I’ll make sure to use this tag for every update! Thank you all SO SO MUCH!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ and if you want to be dropped from the taglist, that’s fine too; just let me know! ❤️
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4
Steve is terrified.
Honestly, after the Russians and the Upside Down and everything else, Steve thought he’d never be scared again.
Then he woke up in school in 1984.
He looks around, wide-eyed, only to stop when Tommy and Carol look at him weirdly. “Uh, Steve?” Carol asks. “You look like you’re about to puke.”
Full of tact, just like always. He shakes off the feeling of wrong crawling on his skin and smiles at her. “I’m fine,” he says, when nothing could be further from the truth.
She opens her mouth to respond. Steve breathes a sigh of relief when the bell goes off, only for him to realize he has no idea where he’s going.
Thank God for Carol, apparently, because she throws her head back with a groan. “Math,” she complains. “I hate math.”
Steve feels a zing of recognition dart through him. He had English while she was in math. They used to complain about it between classes.
He feels excited when he realizes Robin will be in this class, then just as suddenly excitement turns to nausea when he realizes she might not remember him.
He walks into class, trying to keep his hopes down, and briefly makes eye contact with her.
She’s doodling in a notebook, looking around the room. Their eyes meet.
Robin’s pencil lead snaps.
Steve freezes.
He opens his mouth, he’s not sure for what, but she shakes her head slightly.
She stands and makes her way towards him before her eyes flutter back in her head and she drops.
She would’ve fallen on the ground if he hadn’t caught her. Whispers start up, enough to get the teacher to look up. “Mr. Harrington,” she says. “I’m not sure what dance moves you think you’re trying, but I will remind you this is an English classroom.”
“Yes ma’am,” he says. “Um. She passed out. I think I should probably take her to the nurse.”
She leans over her desk to peer first at Steve, then at Robin, who still has her eyes closed. “Very well,” she says. “I’ll give you a hall pass. Please ensure she returns once her little spell has worn off.”
He nods, shifts Robin completely into his arms, and walks out of the classroom.
He walks down the hallway and stops by an empty classroom, darting in when nobody’s looking. “Robs,” he chokes, and her arms are around his neck and now he’s choking for an entirely different reason.
She’s shaking, and he feels hot tears land on his shoulder, and he knows she feels the same from his tears. “I thought-”
“I know,” Steve whispers. “I thought the same. I woke up and I was with Tommy and Carol again and I didn’t know what was going on and I was terrified you weren’t gonna remember me.”
“Jesus,” she says. She’s laughing a little, through her tears. “Imagine how I felt, waking up in Mrs. Click’s class. Thought I’d had a weird fever dream. Then you walked in, and…”
“Yeah,” he agrees. “Jesus, Robs, I’m so glad you’re okay.”
“Right back atcha, Dingus,” she whispers, which really just makes his tears start all over again. “Who else do you think knows?”
Steve sighs. “I don’t know. And other than asking them, and risking getting sent to a padded room…”
“Yeah.” Robin sighs.
“Oh, fuck,” Steve says, tensing up.
“What?”
“I’m pretty sure I’m still with Nancy.”
I tried to tag everyone who wanted it… I’m so sorry if I missed you! Once again I’m so sorry about closing the taglist. Thank you for understanding! ❤️

The Witness
-
The others return to find Eddie, Robin, and Chrissy still sprawled in a lazy circle, baked and giggling, having burned through a fourth and final joint.
In a move that shocks absolutely no one, Steve stands over them, hands planted on his hips like a disappointed father, lovely mouth twisted downwards into a scowl.
God, he really is pretty. Maybe it’s the way the sun is slanting in through the living room window, draping his shoulders in a cloak of golden light, or maybe it’s just him.
Eddie isn’t an idiot. Steve Harrington is a classified ladies’ man. A slutty one at that, if the rumors are to be believed, and one he was convinced until about an hour ago was in a very committed relationship with one Robin Buckley. Even though he knows they aren’t now, it doesn’t change the fact that Steve would never in a million years be interested in someone like Eddie. A loser. A freak. A guy.
But he can’t fucking help himself. Steve is brave and kind and he makes Eddie feel safe for maybe the first time ever and it kind of makes him want to jump up and down in place and scream into a pillow until his voice goes out.
Steve nudges his thigh with tip of his sneaker, bringing Eddie back down to earth.
Eddie grins up at him lazily. “Hey handsome,” he says, voice loose and languid, unable to clamp down on the impulse. His inhibitions have been stripped away by the drugs. They’re making him brave and a little stupid.
Much to his shock and delight, Steve blushes, all the way from his neck to the roots of his hair, lips pressing together so it looks like he’s sucking on a lemon. His eyes flick away from Eddie’s, casting over Robin and Chrissy, who are tangled together on the floor and have been whispering about something for the past fifteen minutes. His expression softens, and Eddie can see his error in the lines around Steve’s eyes. It’s love, yes, warm and syrupy and inviting, but not confined by movie dates leading to a future penned in by two point five children and a white picket fence. Steve and Robin are just… they just are, and Eddie kinda gets it now. Going through what they’ve gone through together and coming out the other side in one piece, more or less, changed something in the fabric of their existence. It’s changing something for Eddie, too, but he’s a little less sure about what. Isn’t quite ready to open that particular Pandora’s box yet, because he’s still a little hazy and jumpy from blurting out the fact that he’s a queer to two almost-strangers. That needs to settle first, like silt at the bottom of a river, before he can examine anything else, like the fact that monsters are real, or this painful little unrequited crush on Steve Harrington that’s growing like a weed somewhere in his chest cavity, threatening to strangle his common sense.

The Spiders Sister - Chapter 3
Summary: Reader meets the team.
Tw: mentions of sickness, teasing
Words: 2.8K
A/n: Thanks for all the support this series has been getting :) If anyone has any suggestions for things that could happen in this series lemme know and I’ll see what I think. No smut though I don’t write that here.
The next day you woke to knocking on the bedroom door. Sitting up in bed you quietly called for whoever it was to enter.
A moment later Wanda poked her head through the door. Seeing you awake or at least semi-awake she slipped through the small space she had created.
“Good morning.” She smiled coming to sit beside you on the bed. “Did you sleep well?” She asked pressed her hand to your forehead.
“Mmm.” You hummed still half asleep.
“You don’t feel warm anymore.” She smiled at this achievement as if she was proud of you. “How are you feeling today?” She asked moving her hands to rest in her lap again.
“Tired, but that’s probably because I just woke up.” You smiled.
“Nat sent me to wake you up. She wanted to know if your well enough to meet the others today.” Wanda explained looking slightly guilty.
“I mean, I’m game if you are. Where’s Nat?” You asked coving a yawn.
“Nat’s training with steve. And not so fast, I want to know more about how you're feeling. No more headache? Cough? Wheezing? Give me something.” She grinned.
“My headaches gone, no more cough, maybe a slight wheeze I’m not too sure.” You begun and Wanda’s brow furrowed slightly at the mention of your wheezing. “I’m like ninety-nine percent sure my fever is gone, and I feel pretty good all things aside.” You finished.
“That’s good. Maybe keep your inhaler on you today just in case. And after the meeting I’ll see if I can get Bruce to give us a few spares, just in case.” Wanda said softly.
“You really don’t have to.” You said shyly toying with a loose thread on the sheets.
“Its no problem. I would make me feel better. Breathing is important.” Wanda teased easing your concerns.
“So, when’s the meeting?” You asked.
“Well, I think Nat wanted to do it as soon as possible. Like straight after training and then I’m going to make you some pancakes for brunch.” Wanda said poking your side. “But for now, hop up, get dressed and I’ll be back soon to show you where the meeting room is.” Wanda said, standing up and heading for the door.
Once wanda had left, probably to go and find Nat to call the meeting, you crawled out of bed. Rifling through your backpack you changed out your sleepshirt and shorts for a pair of black track pants and a pale-yellow t-shirt. Throwing on some goofy socks and lacing up your black converse high tops you braided your hair sat in front of the mirror and threw on some deodorant.
Once you were ready and had been to the bathroom to wash your face and go through your morning routine, you sat at peters desk.
Picking up your backpack you went through it until finding what you were looking for.
Pulling out the black sketchbook you opened it to a fresh page and began mindlessly doodling things you could see around peters room and the cityscape beyond the open curtains.
Just as you were getting into the details of the New York skyline you heard a knock on the door.
Lowering your pencil, you sat a little straighter.
“Come in.” You called your voice sounding better than it had in days. And surprisingly good for someone who had spent hours coughing and wheezing for days on end.
Wanda opened the door and smiled seeing you up and about for the first time.
“You look much better.” She commented coming to stand by your shoulder. “Wow, you’re an amazing artist.” She smiled looking at your drawings.
“Oh, um … thanks.” You smiled still a little awkward when it came to compliments. “So, what’s the news?” You asked.
“Hmm? Oh, yes.” Wanda said looking up from where she had been inspecting your sketchbook. “Nat called Fury. He’s kinda the boss. He’s given the go ahead if steve and tony sign off on it. Nat then called a meeting and I’m going to bring you to the room where you're going to meet the team.” She explained.
“I have two questions.” You said.
“Shoot.” Wanda said pulling you up and gesturing to follow her out the door.
“One, is peter going to be at this meeting?” You asked as Wanda lead you down some seemingly endless corridors.
“Yes.” Wanda nodded, pressing the button to call the lift.
“And two, this Fury guy said yes? Just like that?” You asked sounding slightly confused.
“Yes and no.” Wanda begun, stepping onto the lift with you beside her. “Nat asked Jarvis, Tony’s AI assistant to pull up all CCTV footage of spider-man and separate footage based on bio-signatures. So, she could differentiate between when it was peter and when it was you in the suit. She sent Fury the files and after he reviewed them, he approved you a place on the team. If you want it and the others agree.” Wanda explained.
“Okay.” You said slowly. “Seems like a good plan.” You smiled.
And the lift dinged softly as it slowed to a stop.
“This is us.” Wanda said and you followed her out of the open doors. Walking beside her down a hallway she stopped in front of a door and paused to look at you. “You ready?” She asked, her hand on the door handle.
“Yep.” You nodded swollowing down your nerves. “Ready as I’ll even be.”
“You’ll be great. Just be yourself and they’ll love you.” Wanda said and pushed the door open.
Nat was stood at the head of the table, a screen behind her queued up with spider-man videos. She smiled at you and wanda as the rest of the people turned to face you.
Seeing the people you had only ever seen on Tv in real life was a little overwhelming at first but wanda squeezed your hand and lead you into the room to stand at the front with her and Nat.
Peter smiled at you from where he was sat beside Tony. Looking proud of you just for standing in front of the avengers.
You stood there silent for a second simply making eye contact with your shoes before Natasha spoke up.
“This is Y/n.” Nat begun, and you gave a small half wave with an awkward smile. Tony was staring you down with an unreadable expression. He looked like he was analysing your face mentally. Most likely already having connected you to Peter.
“Hi I’m Y/n Parker.” You said lifting your eyes to meet a few smiling faces around the room a fair few of them sporting shocked looks.
“Parker?” Tony echoed sounding smaller than you had ever heard from his times on Tv.
“Y/n Parker is Peters sister.” Wanda explained.
“Kid?” Tony looked hurt. “Why didn’t you tell me there were two of you?” He asked looking sad.
Peter looked slightly sick at the open disappointment his mentor was showing right now and so you stepped in before peter had a panic attack.
“Mr Stark, Sir, it was my decision to keep myself out of the spotlight. And to do that I needed to maintain a low profile. Which is harder to do when the avengers know of your existence. No offence.” You explained. And the team exchanged a few glances as they noted how you had come to Peter’s aid almost immediately.
“That’s alright, I’m sure Pete will open up now you’re here.” Tony said with a grin as he ruffled Peters hair, “Won’t-cha kiddo?” He asked with his usual charismatic charm and Peter gave a small nod and smile while he ducked his head not liking the attention.
“So, anyone have anymore questions?” You asked drawing the attention off of Peter once more much to your brothers' relief.
Looking away from the small smile he sent you as thanks you laughed, seeing every hand in the room up with a question for you, bar Nat, Peter and Wanda of course.
You looked to your left and nodded to Steve.
“Hi, nice to meet you kid.” Steve said. “I have a question though, if Peter’s identity is secret, why did you need to stay away from us?” He asked looking confused, and his statement drew a few nods around the room.
“If Tony scares you honey, I can assure you that the man would forget his own shoes without me.” Someone you recognised as Pepper Potts said with a smile causing Tony to grumble to himself. How Nat had managed to wrangle the CEO of Stark industries into this meeting you didn’t know.
Little did you know that all it took was ‘There’s something you should know, it has to do with Peter’ and she was on her way.
“Actually,” Wanda said drawing the gaze of the room to her, “This should explain it. Jarvis play the video.” She said and the lights dimmed as the Tv showed a compilation of some of your best moves in the spider-suit.
When the video ended the lights retuned to their normal brightness and everyone still looked confused.
“How exactly does a compilation of Peter doing tricks explain that?” Bruce asked.
“Um…” You said looking slightly nervous. “That was me.” You said in a small voice and the room was silent for a second.
“Sick moves kid. Peter your sister’s awesome.” Sam said and a few people laughed at his perfect comedic timing.
“Prove it.” Tony said and you paled slightly.
“Tony.” Pepper said placing her hand on his arm and shooting him a look.
“No, its ok pepper.” Nat said. “Jarvis?” Nat called to the ceiling. “Was that peter in the suit for those videos?” She asked.
“The height and weight as well as body stature and proportions do not match Master Parker.” Jarvis said.
“Ok,” Nat continued, “Who do those body descriptors match in this room?” She asked.
“The person in the suit does match the body of Miss Parker.” Jarvis said and Tony frowned.
“Do the sticky thing.” Bucky called drawing a few smiles. You rolled your eyes and put a hand up, splaying your fingers before jumping in the air and touching the ceiling where you stayed stuck.
“Crawl around.” Sam said and you glared at his heckling.
“No.” You said and you saw Peter doing his puppy eyes at you. “Fine.” You sighed.
Jumping up you did a flip and stuck your legs out, now standing on the ceiling upside down and making eye contact with Sam before looking to Bucky.
“Better?” You asked sarcastically.
“Much.” Sam grinned and you rolled your eyes again.
“Ok. Get down Y/n.” Nat said sounding part annoyed part amused at the display.
“Yes ma’am.” You said before detaching from the roof and doing a flip to landing back where you were before.
“Show off.” Peter murmured under his breath and you huffed a small laugh as his ears went red, not having expected you to hear him. Dumb super-hearing.
“Well, now we’re done with the party tricks. What are we thinking?” You asked brushing off invisible dirt from your clothes.
“Well…” Tony said. “I think its time you got your own suit.” He grinned and you smiled back. “What colours do you want kiddo?” He asked.
“Um… maybe something like purple, white and red?” You said and he nodded already sketching down ideas on a pad of paper pepper had brought with her from a meeting.
“You’re also getting an AI.” Tony added and you looked a peter who simply smiled proudly of you.
“Well, if that’s everything Y/n’s also gonna need a room.” Wanda said and Tony nodded.
“There’s a spare room on Natasha and Wanda’s floor if you want to move in with the girls. Do I need to send some movers to grab your things?” Tony asked and you looked at your shoes and shook your head.
“Not much to move.” You mumbled.
“Y/n’s apartment was taken out in the last battle. She’s been hiding out in Peter’s room for now. That’s how we met actually.” Natasha said shooting you a reassuring smile.
“Well, it sounds like I’m going to be funding yet another shopping trip.” Tony sighed and Wanda grinned at you mischievously.
“We’ll make it a girl's day.” Wanda said shooting a look at pepper.
“I’d love to.” Pepper agreed and Nat clapped her hands together.
“Alright then.” The assassin said. “I should probably tell Fury we have another spider on the team.” Nat grinned and you smiled at her.
“Great, now we have three spiders.” Tony said rolling his eyes and ducking as Pepper aimed a pretty good swing to the back of his head.
“Knock it off Tony, don’t act like you're not secretly overjoyed to have another Parker around.” Pepper said.
“Just wondering,” Bruce said looking mildly nervous as the room turned to look at him.
“Yes?” You prompted him to continue.
“Are you…” He begun before pausing, “I guess theres no real nice way to put it.” Bruce said and Tony jumped in.
“I think Brucie-bear wants to know if you come with the Parker Brain Package.” Tony said and Pepper glared at him.
“Tony.” She warned, glaring at him while you cleared your throat.
“If you’re asking about how smart I am, let’s just say I designed the original prototype for the web-shooters and chemical makeup of the fluid.” You said and Tony nodded seemingly satisfied with that small tidbit of information for now.
“Well, if nobody had anything else to say, Wanda and I are going to take Y/n for a tour of the compound.” Nat said before turning to look at Clint. “And you, have to make dinner. You lost our bet.” Nat said and then dragged you and Wanda out of the room by your sleeves.
After a very long and very comprehensive tour by Natasha and Wanda, you were shown back to the communal kitchen where most of the team ate together when they weren’t on missions.
You walked into the dining room attached to the kitchen to be hit with the smell of burnt food pungent in the air.
You looked at Nat confused, and she grinned as she heard cursing coming from the kitchen. Wanda looked like she was itching to go help but sad she pulled away Nat grabbed her sleeve at the very last second to hold her back.
“Can someone explain whats going on for me?” You asked.
“Well, Clint and Natasha can’t cook if their lives depended on it.” Wanda begun, only to shush Nat when she went to speak up. “So naturally they made a bet, loser had to cook the team dinner, naturally Clint lost so Nat is enjoying his public humiliation. And I normally cook if we aren’t getting takeout so it's causing me pain to hear whats going on in there.”
“Oh, calm down. Clints not blowing anything up.” Nat said rolling her eyes as Wanda shot her a look. “Ok that was one time.” Nat amended.
Not twenty minutes later you were sat at a table with the avengers with a plate of very burnt stake and watery mash potatoes.
“What is it?” Tony asked poking his steak.
Clint grinned. “A masterpiece.” He said.
“More like a mistake.” Nat muttered judging her steak while poking it with her knife as if she was expecting it to start moving of its own accord.
“I say we have newbie try it.” Tony posed and you rolled your eyes.
Cutting off a piece of the very tough steak with your knife you raised it to your lips and put it in your mouth.
It was tough and kind of disgusting. But you smiled anyway.
Finding the meat tougher than you had been expecting, you made the switch as you called you fangs up. Your canines sharpened as you chewed managing to decimate the meat. Swallowing you looked at Clint.
“Not the worst thing I’ve every eaten.” You said with a smirk and Tony who had been watching you closely squeaked.
“Jeez kid you didn’t tell me your sister was a vampire.” Tony said turning to Peter.
By this point most of they eyes were on you, so you hid your teeth and retracted the fangs out of embarrassment.
“She’s not. It’s a spider thing she got.” Peter said coming yo your defence.
“Either way her new name is fangs.” Tony said with a grin.
This time you glared at him.
“For the record i think they’re awesome.” Wanda said sensing your embarrassment.
“Seconded.” Nat said her spy training honing in on your body language to see you were insecure about it.
“I gotta admit it’s a cool trick doll.” Bucky said.
“Pretty neat.” Steve agreed with a smile.
“Badass.” Sam nodded flicking a still frozen pea at Bucky. “Alright, now that y/n probably has food poisoning, who wants pizza?” Nat asked with a grin. Cheers came from all sides of the table as Clint slumped dejectedly in his seat.

omg how about the prompt 14. the power goes out in our apartment building, but i’m not prepared for this, and you come to check on me with steve because neighbor!au has a special place in my heart 🤭😔
i'm definitely late for this request but i couldn't stop thinking about it! hope you like it angel! — your pretty next door neighbor keeps you company when the power in your building goes out, along with a couple of his friends (neighbors to lovers, fluff, 1.6k)
bug's one year celebration ♡
“I think I have cabin fever.”
“Eddie, shut up— it’s been five minutes,” Steve scolds from the darkened kitchen, where he’s trying to save the newly purchased beer from the warming fridge. He stacks the bottles neatly in a small, square cooler. It won’t keep them cold for long, but hopefully until the power comes back on.
“Soon we’ll have to decide which one of us to eat,” the wild-haired boy continues, still lazing on the couch with a beer in his hand. It stains a damp circle on the thigh of his jeans. He’s not at all fazed by the sudden outage.
“Remind me not to get stranded on an island with you.”
Aglow with orange candlelight, Robin shrugs from the adjacent sofa. She tilts her head on the arm of it to see Eddie more clearly. “The right answer is obviously Steve.”
“Obviously,” Eddie concurs.
“It’s ‘cause he’s so muscly.”
“And he eats, like, super healthy—”
Steve huffs and lugs the chunky cooler back into the living room, cradling the weighty thing with both arms. “Can both of you shut up about pretend cannibalism and help me with the door?”
The conversation stops. They turn to blink at him across the dim room, their faces swirled in a similar look of confusion. “Wait— Where are you going?”
“Next door,” Steve answers, fumbling with the cooler until he can shift it in his hold. The entrance squeaks — a louder sound in the uncanny quiet — when Robin swings it open. “I wanna check on my neighbor.”
You were the first thing that crossed his mind when the lights flickered. Swallowed in darkness, Steve lit a few candles and knew immediately that he’d go to you. He knows you’re alone over there — that you’re alone, and you hate the dark, and that the combination of the two makes you uneasy.
So he’s gonna stay with you until the lights come back on, and hope his friends don’t make him look like a total idiot while he’s doing it.
The emergency lights glow faintly and eerily yellow. Robin and Eddie follow him like lost puppies the short distance down the hall. The latter, blissfully unaware of personal space, leans against Steve’s shoulder like he’s about to tell him a secret. “The pretty neighbor?” the boy croons.
Steve sighs and stops in front of your door. The slightly chipped paint and the crooked numbers on the entryway match his own. He knocks as gently as he can with the toe of his sneaker. “Yes, Eddie. The pretty one,” he answers in a monotone.
“The pretty neighbor you couldn’t shut up about when you were drunk on my couch the other night?” Eddie continues to tease, directly into Steve’s ear, until he’s elbowed half-heartedly away.
The door swings open then. And, truth be told, you were somewhat expecting to see Steve standing there. Lying alone in your bed, trying not to make monsters out of the clothes in the corner, you were girlishly hoping he’d swoop in and save you.
Your heart starts to swell at the sight of him, glowing faintly amber beneath overhead auxiliary lights. Then it gets caught in your throat when you see the two strangers standing just behind him. A pretty girl with a freckled face and a boy with long hair and leftover eyeliner under his eyes.
“There she is,” the one with the wild hair lilts, dropping his head to his shoulder to smile at you.
“Hi,” you greet softly, because it’s muscle memory. Then, when the stranger’s greeting dawns on you— “…What?”
“Nothing. Ignore him,” Steve answers. “Can we come in? I brought booze.”
“Well, how can I say no to that?” you joke with a shy smile. To you, you would’ve said if you were braver. How can I say no to you?
“This is Robin and Eddie, by the way,” he says as he walks into your dimly lit apartment. It’s exactly like his but decorated much more intently — with plants and posters and mood lighting that’d be on under different circumstances. It glows with so many little candles instead, smelling faintly of sage and vanilla.
His two friends follow in behind him — Robin first, with an awkward smile and accompanying wave, and then Eddie, who’s visibly more confident.
Steve laughs. “Sorry. I was kinda in the middle of babysitting before I came over.”
“That’s okay,” you shrug.
“I’ve heard a lot about you,” Eddie says with a wide grin, holding out his hand to shake yours. He wears chunky, silver rings on all his fingers. “And I mean, a lot.”
You stick a hesitant hand in his warmer one. “Oh,” is all you can think to say.
“All good things. Don’t worry… Great things, actually.”
“That’s… good,” you waver with a forced laugh. Eddie hasn’t yet let go of your hand.
“I’ll be honest— when Steve said you were pretty, I was not expecting you to be this pretty.”
Your mouth falls open and then closes again. Sorta like a fish. You try to come up with something to say but can’t think of exactly what. You thought you were the only one telling all of your friends about the pretty neighbor next door.
“Eddie!” Steve scolds from across the room. He idles in the spot where the living room ends and the kitchen begins. He tries to duck away into the latter, but he wants you to come with him — so he can even be halfway alone with you. “Stop flirting and leave her alone.”
Eddie’s face swirls into an insincere pout. He drops your hand to walk further into the room.
“Oh, please, I was just being nice— don’t get your panties in a wad, Harrington.” He bends down at your coffee table, rifling through the bowl of Starbursts there until he finds a yellow one. It isn’t until he pops it into his mouth that he thinks to ask, “These are for everyone, right?”
You giggle again, much more sincere this time. “Sure.”
“Ooh,” Robin squeals under her breath from where she sits on your couch. She’s grabbing a handful of the pink kind before you can blink.
“Wanna help me with these while those idiots act like vultures?” Steve offers with a soft smile.
You know he doesn’t need help. Or, at the very least, that he could ask Robin and Eddie for it. But he’s asking you now, and you think you know a little bit as to why. At least, you hope you do. You nod at him, anyway. “Sure.”
“Sorry about them,” Steve apologizes when you’re both hidden inside the dark kitchen. He drops the cooler onto the counter, then stretches his aching arms while you light a candle.
“Don’t worry about it,” you smile and shake out the match. “They seem really nice.”
“They’re idiots, but they mean well.”
“A little like someone I know.”
Steve meets your quiet smile with a squint. “Stop flirting with me.”
He reaches into the container to grab you a beer from inside it. The entire time, you’re finding the courage to say the words bubbling up in your throat. The five seconds it takes feels like eons and milliseconds at the same time.
“Can I ask you something?” you wonder as he passes you a bottle, the amber glass of it already breaking a sweat.
“Uh-huh.”
Steve uses the hem of his shirt to unscrew the top of his. You idle with yours, letting the cold bottle sting your delicate palm. “Why did you come over?” you ask, and then, when you realize how unkind that sounds, “Not that I’m not thrilled you’re here! I’m always happy to see you! I was hoping you’d come over, actually. I’m just— I’m just curious.”
Steve doesn’t seem to take offense to your words. Instead, the rambling of them makes him smile. “‘Cause I know you don’t like the dark,” he answers with a shrug. “And I didn’t want you to be alone.”
“Oh. That’s nice.”
Again, he only shrugs.
The beer hisses faintly when you unscrew the cap of it. “So you would’ve done it for anyone, then?” you ask him, feigning nonchalance as you take a quick sip from the bottle.
“Hell no,” Steve scoffs.
You swallow and lick your alcohol-slicked lips with wide eyes. “No?”
“If those schmucks in there asked me to bring them free booze ‘cause their power went out, I would laugh in their faces,” Steve confesses, already chuckling at the thought — a golden sound that rivals the orange candlelight.
“I feel special now,” you giggle, hiding it behind the neck of your beer.
“That’s because you are.”
Your face burns hot, like so many orange embers blotching the apples of your cheek. You take a heftier swig of beer. Both to cool your blazing skin and to slow your racing heart.
“And I don’t think I’d be here if it were anybody else,” Steve tells you, raising the lip of his bottle to his mouth. “I like doing nice things for you ‘cause it’s you, you know?”
Your nose scrunches until the edges of your eyes crinkle. “Stop flirting with me,” you tease, parroting his words from earlier.
Steve squints. “Is it that obvious?”
“Drinking booze? In the candlelight? While you tell me pretty things? It couldn’t be more obvious, Steve Harrington.”
“You caught me,” he shrugs and props his elbow on the countertop. He tilts his cheek to his shoulder and flashes you a rosy, lopsided smile. Bathed by candlelight, his eyes glow a more honied shade. “I cut the power to half the city just so I could get you all to myself.”
His tongue swipes along his plush bottom lip. His eyelids get distinctly heavier.
“To yourself and your two best friends?”
You bring him back to reality with seven words. His face twists in offense to them. “Eddie is not my best friend, okay?” he chuckles. “He’s not even in my top ten list of best friends.”
“Don’t be mean,” you giggle, a pretty sound that makes him smile wider.
“Yeah, Stevie,” Eddie calls from the living room. “I have ears, you know? And feelings.”
