#Pepa Madrigal needs a hug

For the writing starters, “I didn’t know where else to go” with Pepa and Bruno perhaps? :D
This is a long one. I threw in Felix as well, cause my man needs some love too. I imagine them all to be somewhere between 16-17 years old
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Pepa. Your weird brother is here."
Pepa, young and impulsive and with a protective streak a mile wide, bites her tongue until she can taste blood. She wants to tell Alecia to shut her trap, wants to kick Rico's shin for snickering like a donkey, wants to turn her back on this small group of teenagers that have big mouths but nothing to show for it, and never look back.
But Felix is part of that group. They are his friends and cousins (twice removed, but still!) and she likes him. Oh, she likes him so much. Her heart does a summersault every time she sees him and it's all she can do to keep the rainbow suppressed when he smiles at her.
They have talked once or twice, but today is the first day that he's invited her to hang out with him and his friends in that little clearing in the woods. She still doesn't know if he likes her that way, but the hope is like a beast in her chest, wild and untamed. She wants to make a good impression. She wants his friends to like her and she wants to be everything he could ever want in a girl.
But all she is right now is the sister of the village weirdo.
Pepa doesn't want to think like that. Bruno knows how important today is (he'd begged her to shut up about this 'date but maybe not date oh my, do you think it's a date?' just this morning). He wouldn't come here if it wasn't important.
But all the same, when her eyes find him hiding behind a tree, watching her and the others, a surprising amount of frustration within her bubbles to the surface and a small cloud gathers above her head. It's not solely his fault. She has been stressed for days about this meeting and now that she's here her anxiety doesn't get better but worse. She is analysing every look, every word. Is there a double meaning behind any of it? Was Felix' cousin laughing at her joke or laughing at her? Is Felix really looking at her with affection or is it just condescension?
She's never felt so insecure before and seeing her brother cowering behind a tree, the hood of his oversized ruana pulled up and into his face, doesn't help any. He looks like a wraith. He looks like the brujo they all accuse him of being, watching them from the shadows of the treeline, all creepy and stuff.
"What a freak." Osvaldo mutters.
"Hey!" It's Felix who snaps at him and if Pepa wasn't so embarrassed, she might have appreciated it more than she does. "Shut it, Oz!" He turns to Pepa and tries to catch her gaze. "You wanna go and see what he needs?"
Pepa can't meet his eyes, just nods and hurries over to her brother with quick, agitated steps. Bruno must know that she is coming, but he is still half hiding behind that stupid tree. He has buried his nails into the bark and keeps his head down. She can't see his face at all.
"Bruno!" Pepa hisses as soon as she is close enough. She allows herself a small cloud, hoping that she is far enough away that Felix won't see. "What are you doing here?"
"M'sorry." he mumbles. "I just... Juli s'with Mama and..."
"What's that got to do with anything?" Pepa explodes. She can feel the stares of the others on her back like needles poking her, drawing blood, poisoning her mind and soul. "Dios Bruno. Can't you spend one afternoon without one of us holding your hand?"
Her little brother flinches back from her anger and Pepa immediately feels guilt clawing at her chest. She also can't help but notice that he is clinging to that tree with a kind of focus that almost seems desperate.
"M'sorry." he repeats and Pepa feels a pit form in her stomach. His voice is shaking, his arms too. He sounds like he is on the verge of crying. "I don't wan' Mama to know. I didn't know where else to go."
"Brunito." Her voice is soft now, soothing, her anger already nothing more than a fleeting memory. Something is wrong. Very wrong. "Look at me."
He doesn't. Pepa has to grab his shoulder and guide his face up with a careful hand under his chin.
She gasps when it comes into view and immediately brushes the hood away to get a better look. The black eye and split lip aren't even the worst.
The worst is the bruise at his temple and the dazed look in his eyes.
Panic seizes her heart. She's seen enough concussions while helping Julieta hand out food to know the signs.
The panic is quickly overshadowed by a cold, hard fury.
"Who did this?" she asks, eerily calm. Her hand is still cupping his chin, her thumb brushing over his cheek. Careful. So careful, as if she is handling cracked glass. Only the thundering, black cloud over her head betrays the turmoil wreaking havoc under her skin.
Bruno shakes his head. Of course he does. He never willingly tells her who his attackers are. Not that it matters. Pepa will find out. She always does and when she does? May God have mercy with them.
Cause Pepa won't.
"Everything alright here?"
Pepa whirls around and tries to shield her brother. She knows the voice and knows that he won't harm them, but her instincts are going haywire. Everything suddenly seems like a threat.
Even wonderful Felix, who is standing at her shoulder and winces in sympathy when he sees Bruno's face.
"Ay mierde, hombrecito! That looks bad. Who did this?"
Bruno just stares at the other boy and stays silent. Pepa really doesn't like the dazed look in his eyes. They need to find Juli and lure her away from Mama's side. As much as Pepa would like to trust their Mama to deal with this in a satisfactory manner, Pepa knows that she will only talk with the bullies and their parents. If she even bothers to find out who they are and doesn't just tell Bruno to make more of an effort to 'make nice' with the other kids.
No no. The time for talking has passed years ago. This needs Pepa's personal, physical touch and she can only do that if her mother isn't aware enough to stop her.
"Don't worry. I'll find out.", she promises darkly. "I have to get him home. I think he has a concussion."
"I'll come with you. Maybe whoever did this is still around."
"I can protect us!" Pepa can't help bristling. The cloud over her head thunders ominously.
Felix stares at the dark mass over their heads and Pepa feels like crying. He will never ask her out on a proper date now. Boys don't like violent girls. They don't want to be intimidated by a girl. They want to feel strong and in control. They want a pretty, vulnerable girl, who they can protect, who wants to be protected.  They want everything Pepa is not. After today, Felix will never look at her and think-
"Beautiful." The whisper is more breath than actual sound and Pepa almost convinces herself that she has imagined it. Felix stares at her cloud for a second longer with wonder and adoration, before he grins at the pair. He helps her steady her brother who is leaning dangerously to the side. "I know you can, Pepa. But I want to help you. Both of you."
She just nods, too stunned to speak. Bruno leans heavily into her side, but doesn't shake Felix's hand off his shoulder. Which is either an amazing sign of trust or proof that he is even more out of it than she thought.
They turn to leave and the group they leave behind shouts after them. Something about abandoning them and to not bother coming back if they leave now. Pepa couldn't care less and Felix doesn't even turn around, just cheerfully tells her to ignore los cabrones. He has slung one of Bruno's arms over his shoulder and periodically pats his back.
Their progress is slow and Pepa grows more and more worried the longer Bruno stays silent. But when he opens his mouth, she kinda wishes that he hadn't, since he is apparently way too out of it to know what is going on.
Or rather, who is with them.
"Sorry Pepi. Din't wanna crash y'r date with Felix."
Pepa keeps her face straight ahead. She will not react. She will NOT react. Other than the bright hot flush on her cheeks and the mist suddenly surrounding her head, she will not react.
"Don't worry, amigo." Felix says. His voice sounds… it sounds actually pretty happy.
Pepa glances at him over Bruno's head and her heart skips a beat at the smile he regards her with. He winks at her and she thinks she might swoon. "We'll just have to continue this after your sister beat up whoever did this to you. Or maybe that actually could be our next date. I definitely want to see that."
Pepa grins. "Sure. It's a date."
(Bruno later tells her that, if the concussion hadn't made him throw up minutes later, it would have been their cheesy flirting. Pepa just ruffles his hair and keeps preparing for her date. Felix has just confirmed that the bully suspects nothing and has agreed to meet them in that clearing in an hour.
She cracks her knuckles.
It will be so romantic.)
Bruno Madrigal is a ghost.
It’s not all bad, he doesn’t have to use his gift anymore, doesn’t have to answer to anybody, doesn’t have to eat or sleep really.
Plus, he can still talk to his family in their dreams.
“Oh, c’mon…” he whispered, defeated as his stomach groaned in disappointment. There wasn’t any left food for him…
He didn’t expect his plate to be there filled, with a note saying “In case you’re hungry” in Julieta’s handwriting like it would be, before he trapped himself in the walls, when he didn’t leave his tower all day but…
But only an arepa would have been perfect, yet there was nothing on the countertop. He groaned as he rubbed his face with frustration, and then he started searching around for something to eat.
Even a piece of bread would be fine, he was literally starving by now, and his stomach wouldn’t leave him alone if he didn’t eat anything.
He was bent over himself, looking in the drawer where Julieta used to put the stale bread she used for cooking; he was too focused on his research to hear some footsteps coming in the kitchen, “Bruno?” a sleepy voice from behind called hesitantly and the man in question froze.
On the last sixth of March, Mirabel turned ten, which means also that five years are passed since Bruno’s disappearance and, as October came, it was harder for the Madrigal triplets to not think about each other. One night, Pepa embraces her lost brother by mistake, without even knowing it was him but Bruno… he knows too well who’s hugging him.
So I finished the season finale of Euphoria and I am deeply sad. Now a Pepa monologue is being born. I...apologize but writing these super long monologues is actually pretty fun and I tend to write a lot when I’m sad so I added a “keep reading” mark for this one. ;-;
DISCLAIMER: If you’ve never seen Euphoria, do not watch it if you’re under the age of 18. It is very inappropriate and dark and contains themes that would be much too overwhelming and triggering for anyone under 18.
(Pepa narrating.)
(Imagine her waking up to her husband cuddling her, seeing clouds already formed above their canopy.)
Sometimes I can’t believe that this is my reality.
(She looks over at her husband, who’s sleeping away)
I’m married to this amazing man right here. He’s genuinely and madly in love with me. He truly isn’t bothered by my emotions. He still considers our wedding to be one of the most joyous days of his life even though I nearly killed everyone in town, including myself and him.
Sometimes I wonder if he just loves to make me feel good. The feeling that must build inside of him to see me express myself is one I could only associated with some weird mix of love and lust. But Félix...he’s just...he’s more complex than that.
Félix is someone I’d call “an angel that my father gifted me”. Even though I never got to meet him, I don’t doubt that he’s watching over us and our odd family. If he were still alive, he’d probably get on me for beating up so many kids while also being proud that I did it to stand up for Bruno. He’d probably cheer us on every day in sharp contrast of mamá cursing us out.
Honestly, the only reason I didn’t completely lose it on her and blow her away with a violent tornado was because I could fight. Those kids gave me the leverage I needed. Every time they shoved Bruno...every time they called him a name...every time they took his lunch...they would go back home with a new injury and no precious healing foods from my sister. The experience...always made school fun for me. Much more than it should have...
And it’s not like I didn’t have my reasons for it, I had plenty. A reason to be a cool older sister. A reason to beat some kids into the dirt. A reason to vent out all of my frustrations from school, community helping, life, love and lack thereof, literally everything. And I had Bruno to thank for that. I missed him dearly when he left. He was the only reason I could feel complete as a person and a Madrigal in comparison to Julieta. The original golden child.
(At the breakfast table. Pepa started breakfast eyeing her sister, who was happily chatting with her husband and middle daughter.)
To say that I envy Julieta is an understatement. She gets praise because her gift is actually useful, while mine is essentially a death sentence and Bruno’s is slowly eating his brain. She came out of puberty looking and feeling amazing and I came out of it feeling gross and bloated all of the time. I think the worst part about it all is that she not only gave birth first, but her daughter became the new golden child.
(Pepa was eyeing her brother while he ate, gesturing him to finish his food with her gaze.)
Then there’s Bruno. He never bothered with love, and I honestly don’t blame him. If people treated me like the town pariah, I’d say fuck it and never look back. Well...if Félix and I never met, that definitely would have happened.
It’s strange, though. Bruno had been back for several weeks, but it still felt like it was yesterday. I remember those first few nights without him here...
Holy shit, they were some of the worst...I think I had a mental breakdown five times...all I could remember was him making that shitty joke at my wedding and then disappearing.
Then it turned into hatred. Because all I could remember was that shitty joke.
(Many years ago at Pepa’s wedding, she was having a bit of a nervous fit when he came up to her and said that.)
“Heh heh, looks like rain, ey Pepi?” Like who the fuck says that to someone who’s sweating bullets at her wedding, let alone to someone with horrifying weather powers? I’m happy he’s back and he’s getting a free pass right now, but I’m never letting him live that shit down. That was just-
(Pepa paused. She felt a hand on her arm.)
Great. I was thundering. And glaring. You know what, I don’t really care. I have other stuff to worry about.
(After breakfast, Pepa returned to her room with her husband and their youngest son. Félix was helping Antonio get ready for his first day with his new gift, while Pepa just watched them and smiled.)
Like my little boy.
My poor Antonio had so much pressure put on him...by the entirety of this town. Every single person gathered to our house to see him receive his gift, and every time it never failed to remind me that I’m stuck with this gift. Antonio. My poor Toñio.
He was actually scared of not getting a gift. I don’t know if it was because of Mirabel or because of me or just because that much pressure is too much for a 5 year old...but he was so scared...no 5 year old kid should be that afraid, especially not on their birthday.
And I just know that mamá would have treated him just as badly as she treated Mirabel...I just know she’d have a fit and blame the magic dying. She’s always cared more about the goddamn magic than any of us and I was sick of it. My baby boy wasn’t going to come into a world where he was shunned by his abuela for something he couldn’t control. And if we’re being honest...I’ve always hated how mamá treated Mira. I never understood it.
All because she had no gift.
I envy her for having no gift.
A Magical Adventure
Sooo Hey... im not sure if anyone is still gonna read this but hey and welcome back!!! I'm sorry i didn't came back any sooner but I had a writing block and i couldn't get past it but now I have new motivation and I deeply apologise for not updating sooner
≡(▔﹏▔)≡ I hope you are doing well and took good care of yourselves while I was away ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ
Soo let's start and enjoy!!!
Chapter 6: Where am I ?
⚜                 ⚜               ⚜                  ⚜               ⚜
It was like a dagger was pushed right into Julietas Heart… Before what feels like an eternity for her she collected herself and begun to speak :
 -”Mija… what do you mean you can’t hear her Heart ?” asked her Tía with a distressed voice as her sobrina turned to face her.
The whole room had gone quiet in between these minutes that felt like hours.
- “ I…I- I can’t hear it… normally I always hear the beat of the family hearts within the first try… but now I can’t… Why can’t I hear it ? I'm sorry…   I should- “ before she could say any more Félix  came up to her and hugged her.
-” Mija cálmate… Breath with me okay. In and out…It's gonna be okay- “
The whole room was stunned.. What could they do to help? Several moments later when she calmed a few voices broke the lingering silence:
-”This can’t be happening!!”
-”We should look for her ! “ some other said
-” But what about the storm ? … Will we be able to find her before it ? “ some other answered Before the voices got out of hand a quiet voice said what stunned them all and the room had gone quiet once more.
-” Should I have a vision to look for her ? “ The whole room turned their face to the source of the noise.
-” Brunito..” Spoke Alma
Without any hesitation he replied:
-'' I could do it… I’m ready to use them…” as the last sentence has fallen he looked anywhere else but at the stunned faces of his family.
-” Mijo you are still uncomfortable using your powers aren’t you ? I won’t- No.. I simply can’t force you to do it. Not Again…”
-”But-  “
-” Mamá is right, hermanito… “
-” Juli ?!  But why… How can you say this if it helps to find your daughter faster ? “ -” Because I trust that we will find Mira.. Of course I’m devastated by this situation” she said as she hold back some tears that shown in her eyes before she took a deep breath and continued
-”...But I also want you to be okay… I just- I just don’t know what to do. “ .
-” Then let me help… Please, I can do it. I’m up to it. I want to do It…        believe me !” Bruno said as he stepped forward and took both of Julietas hands in his and looked in her eyes.
-” Are you sure Mijo ? “
-” Yea I am. I would do anything for her or the rest of the family… without her I would be still apart from you all. I would still be lonely and all alone. “ He answered confidently as he turned to look at his mother and the rest of the family with a weak smile on his face. After a short moment Alma answers :
-” Okay… let's do it if you're up to it but if anything happens while it I want you to stay safe… can you do that ? “  With a nod he feels a bone crushing hug incoming from one of his other sobrinas. Within followed by more sets of armes. -” Thank you Tío “
-”Thanks…”  and so go on was heard from the small pile of people in mid of the dining room. If this situation wouldn't be this life threatening for one of them they would have called it peaceful and a shine of hope for a better reconnecting. But time was running out and so they parted from one another and rushed to Brunos room.
There they were in front of his cave:
-” Please wait here.. I will be back soon.”
-” Be careful and please find her… “
-” Good luck… You can do it !”
-” Here Tío you can have my plushy that Mira made for me. It helps you with your nerves! “ A light chuckle can be heard from the rest of the family as they “aww” over Antonio but it didn’t last long as the anxious atmosphere returned.
-” Well Thank you.” he said as he took the plush from his sobrino.
-” I will be quick and then we’ll find her! “With a quick nood from the rest he stepped inside and walked in a quick step to the middle of the cave where he sat down and started to prepare the seeing.
-” Okay you can do it.. Deep breath and let’s go… It's for Mira! “ With another breath the sand around him began to swirl around and builded a couple over him as it started to glow in a green light.
Slowly he opened his green glowing eyes as the sand formed in different shapes in front of him. It took him a few seconds to adapt to it but as soon as he did his pupils went small…he was in a shocked and paralised state because of the things that played in front of him.
-” No no no no.. This isn’t right… she wouldn't–  Would she…?! “ But as soon as the horrific pictures went by he couldn't hold back tears.
By the time the vision ended and the sand had fallen with a harsh ”fumb” back to the ground, It revealed a fearful Bruno standing in the middle of the cave with a green emerald Plate. He had an unreadable blank expression on his face.. He didn’t know what to think of it.. But before something else could have happened there could be heard footsteps and they were walking towards him.
-”Bruno, are you okay ?” Asked Pepa in a small voice.
-”What happened ? “
-” What did you see ?” asked one and another
-” We have to hurry… I hope It is not too late…” he said before he turned the plate to his family….
Far away…
Deep in the forest in a river Was a person…
Lying - maybe even drowning.
 This person wasn't aware of the situation…
But still she opened her eyes
...He raised his eyebrows in surprise at that. Favorite people? Was he included on that list? Julieta just smiled and turned back to the dishes. It took Bruno a moment, but he also slowly resumed his duties, finding he couldn't put away the little smile on his own face that had arrived at the thought that he might be someone's favorite.
I drew from my fic La Traes again for @encantober-official Day 2 - siblings. This scene is a little exchange that happens between the triplets--the OG siblings. You can find the whole thing below the cut.
“You need to get out of the house, hermanito,” Julieta had said to him gently one evening after dinner as they washed dishes together. “It’s…been a while, sí?”
“Eso se queda corto,” Pepa had mumbled as she dumped some more dishes into the soapy water, earning a glare from both of her siblings. [ That's an understatement.] She widened her eyes at them as if to say What? Am I wrong?
“I’m just saying ,” Julieta continued, pointedly moving past Pepa’s comment, “that it might do you some good, to have a little more change of scenery.”
“I-I think I’m doing just fine,” he replied a bit defensively. And he did. He went for walks with Dolores around the perimeter of Casita, down to the river where it ran past the southwest edge of the grassy lawn. Sometimes he’d wander out back behind the house, napping in the afternoon sun before it disappeared behind the mountainous wall that guarded the back of their home. Compared to the previous ten years, he was a veritable expeditionist now.
“Of course you are,” Pepa said, putting an arm around his shoulders. He hunched them in response, glancing at her suspiciously.
“Y-yeah?”
“Yeah! You’ve made it to the edge of the grass! That’s like, what, un kilómetro cuadrado, yeah? A completely normal amount of space for a person to exist in.”
[One square kilometer.] Bruno’s frown deepened. “You’re mocking me.”
Pepa winked at him.
“A-alright, alright,” he said, waving his hands in the air beside his head in surrender. “I’ll, uh, I'll go to the banana fields tomorrow. As long as it’s not a harvest day,” he added, pointing a finger at Julieta, who rolled her eyes good-naturedly at him. “Or an irrigation day. Or you know…a-a day with other, um, other people there.”
The busyness of rebuilding Casita last year had given him enough social interaction outside his immediate family to last him quite a while…a very long while. Thankfully, he’d been able to largely lose himself in the organized chaos of it all, and Mirabel had been particularly helpful, working as a liaison between him and anyone he’d had to interact with, smoothing the awkwardness away with her easy conversation and joyful presence. And he had managed to largely ignore the curious stares that came from, well, from pretty much everyone until the novelty of his return had worn off. Well…at least he had pretended to ignore them.
“I don’t want to pressure you, arenoso,” Julieta said gently, putting a slightly soapy hand on his shoulder. “I just don’t want…”
…don’t want you to get lost again. She’d let her sentence trail off, but the unspoken ending hung awkwardly in the air anyway. They’d both turned back to their dishes, with Pepa standing stiffly beside them, hugging a freshly dried plate to her stomach. The cloud above her head darkened just a little. Bruno winced down at the soapy water as the silence surrounding them grew painful.
“H-hey, maybe you can spend the day with Antonio tomorrow?" Pepa offered nervously, popping the tension like a soap bubble. "He needs a…a break …from routine, too."
Bruno and Julieta looked at their sister with matching frowns, both narrowing their eyebrows in concern. It would have been comical or even sweet to see the same expression mirrored between her two siblings again…if she didn’t feel the weight of the very same concern pulling down the corners of her own mouth.
Antonio had been struggling to find a place for himself in the Madrigal visits to town. Before his gift, he might have shyly clung to Mirabel’s skirts or played in the dirt while Pepa rained on the fields, never quite brave enough to venture out to play with the other children on his own, refusing to speak to the adults that smiled down at him. Pepa worried about his shyness.
But now a different problem had presented itself. Antonio was now more than happy to engage with anyone and everyone, possessing a newfound courage with his animal friends by his side, but his animal friends were also decidedly wild, and even Antonio could not control every move they made. Just last week, some monkeys that had trailed him into the town had wandered away and found some storage crates of fruit, working together to drop them from the roof of a nearby house until the crates smashed open and spilled out a feast that was then fit only for them. The owner of the crates had not been happy.
Most of the jungle animals had largely maintained a healthy, fearful distance from the bustling, busy streets of the Encanto for the fifty years it had occupied the valley, but Antonio’s warmth and friendship seemed to have blurred that boundary, and Abuela was struggling to find a balance between loving encouragement and civic order. And when Abuela struggled with something, all the Madrigals struggled with her, in one way or another.
“...Mamá suggested that maybe Antonio might spend some time in the forest paths, playing with his gift,” Pepa explained, putting away the plate so she could pull at her braid. A knowing glance between all three siblings conveyed the underlying meaning of the word play—learn to get it under control. “Félix was going to take him, but you two get along so well, Bruno. Maybe you could spend some time with him, and you both could enjoy the fresh air. You know. Bonding?”
Bruno blew out an exaggerated breath, his cheeks puffing and his shoulders dropping dramatically. He pulled his mouth to the side and looked at Pepa with an expression of reluctant concession. How could he say no to a whole day with his sobrino? He loved the kid. And the very fact that Abuela had been the one to suggest the break from town…well. He knew what that felt like. No matter how nicely she put it, how lovingly she intended it, he knew it would feel like a punishment to Antonio. That thought…well that thought broke his heart a little.
“...F-fine,” he mustered in response. “We’ll go for a walk in the–- ” he swallowed dryly“ –- i-in the forest.”
A bit of sunlight broke through from behind the cloud above Pepa’s head, and Bruno couldn’t help but flash a small, crooked smile up at it. She pulled him sideways by his collar and planted a kiss on his cheek, which he winced at but accepted gratefully. Julieta nudged him with her hip.
“There you go! That will be fun,” she said happily, clearly convinced this was a fantastic solution for all parties. Bruno was not so sure. “Take Mirabel with you, too, if you want. You know she’d love to join her two favorite people for the day.”
Bruno had raised his eyebrows in surprise at that. Favorite people? Was he included in that list? Julieta had just smiled and turned back to the dishes. It had taken Bruno a moment, but he also slowly resumed his duties, finding he couldn’t put away the little smile on his own face that had arrived at the thought that he might be someone’s favorite.
So here he was now, sharing a picnic blanket with a sloth and a capybara—among other crawling, flittering things—nursing a bruised ego after having been tackled by a six year old on a jaguar, all because he was a pushover who couldn’t say no to time with his sobrinos.
Caray. The things I get myself into…
Just Another Tragic Fact
Bruno sighed to himself.
The four gravestones, all lined up, layered in a variety of plants - Isabela would have hated it if it was all just flowers.
Here lies
Luisa Amalia Rojas Madrigal
14th November 1930 - 14th September 1951
Beloved daughter and sister.
Here lies
Camilo Valentino Estrada Madrigal
28th December 1934 - 14th September 1951
Beloved son and brother.
Here lies
Isabela Cristina Rojas Madrigal
7th August 1928 - 14th September 1951
Beloved daughter and sister.
Here lies
Dolores Victoria Estrada Madrigal
31st August 1928 - 14th September 1951
Beloved daughter, sister and partner.
Seeing it makes it real.
Not that it didn’t feel real watching the crash and seeing their dead bodies be pulled from the wreckage.
The funeral had came and went.
The loss of the children, who had been dubbed ‘Encanto’s Four Saints’, had impacted the town itself. Everyone was draped in mourning garb and music and laughter almost vanished from the streets.
But, of course, it brought the most impact to the Madrigals themselves.
“I’m sorry,” Bruno says to them.
It’s a relatively bright and dry afternoon - considering Encanto has been living in a constant storm since the Cyclone accident.
Pepa must be asleep. She’s done a lot more of that recently.
He doesn’t blame her.
“I should have seen… I should have been able to warn you. Then maybe you’d still be…” he sighs, breaking into tears again.
“Tío Bruno?”
He sniffles. “Hey, Toñito.”
“What are you doing?”
“I thought I’d just come to see them. It’s a nice day.”
“You don’t have to say ‘sorry’. You couldn’t have known what would happen at the fair.”
“No, you all couldn't have known. This is my gift. This is what I’m for. But… I didn’t even think to look and now it’s my fault they’re gone.”
“Still. You can’t blame yourself.”
Tight arms fasten around him.
Bruno accepts the hug.
It probably should be the other way around, it’s not him who has lost his siblings and cousins.
~~~~~~
Antonio doesn’t quite process that they are gone.
He knows they are dead, but… their family has a miracle, why wouldn’t it bring them back?
When a bunch of baby capybaras are born the following week, he names them after his siblings and cousins.
The quietest capybara he names Lola. She was the oldest of the four. She’s always hiding behind his legs. She insists she be carried up and down the stairs. He finds a pinkish red ribbon in Mirabel’s room that he asks his Mama to tie in a bow for Lola.
Next came Luis. He was the biggest of the litter, so Antonio didn’t need to mark him to tell him apart. Luis was more like a playful puppy than anything else, frequently managing to sneak out of Antonio’s room to wander around Casita in search of belly rubs.
Then there was Belita, or Bela, depending on whether or not Antonio was telling her off. Like her mother, Chispi, she was very confident and snarky. However, lacked her mother’s chill. She was full of energy - if Antonio didn’t put her to bed with her siblings, he would be sure she never slept.
And lastly there was Milo, possibly Antonio’s favourite but don’t tell the others. Getting his brother’s name, he was exactly like him. Mischievous, loves food, and maybe a little too dramatic. Milo was good at making him laugh and, after everything, that is what he needed.
He assembles them all before bed, so that when Mama or Papa or both of them come to read his story, they are there too.
Abuela would happily spend time babysitting the four of them while Antonio was at school.
If they came into the kitchen, Tía Julieta would offer them scraps or spare food they could eat.
Tío Agustín had built a little wooden cart that Antonio could pull them around in.
Tío Bruno pretty much adopted them alongside his many rats, as the best pets/children ever.
It was another week later that Antonio got an idea.
“What are you doing, mijo?” His mother asked one day. It was just before dinner - table already set up, but nobody had called them to eat.
Then she noticed the extra chairs and plates that had been added to the table. And Antonio having placed each capybara on their namesake’s chair, which was stacked with pillows, so their heads just about reached the table.
“I thought they could join us for dinner!” He offered. “And Chispi is here too to watch them. I got her a spare chair all by myself.”
Pepa didn’t know what to say. “Is your Abuela okay with this?”
“Why wouldn’t she be? She loves them. I saw her cuddling Milo and Lola when I came home today. I think she likes them more than Tío Bruno’s rats.” He informed, happily.
“Well, but, you know what Tía Julieta is like with animals at the table,” Pepa tried again.
“I don’t think she’ll mind. It’s like having the family back together!”
Thunder rumbled.
“I was meant to ask Bruno something,” she excused herself, brushing through her braid as she walked off.
Antonio stood in silence.
He glances at Chispi, “Did I do something wrong?”
~~~~~~
It’s a silent night.
They are slowly coming out of mourning and adjusting back to normality.
Starting to work again.
The colours of black and dark blue and dark grey begin to fade away.
The eternal storm that Encanto has been wrapped in since September is slowly breaking away. Now it is just occasional spells of heavy rain and sleet.
Antonio has long since been put to bed, with the four capybaras.
The rest of the adults stay up.
What once would have been a night of some wine, a few cards games, music and laughter, is now just a solemn conversation in the candlelight.
They ‘um’ and ‘ah’ over what could have been.
Where and what the children are doing, now that they are no longer among the living.
“And the other one?” Agustín dares to ask. “Did anyone ever come for her?”
“Was she at least identified?” Félix inquires.
“No.” Alma answers. “The order was given for her to be buried today.”
Pepa tugs at her hair, shivering. “I can’t imagine it. A child. Just like the rest of them. Except in an unmarked grave, and not a soul to care.”
“Her poor family,” Bruno remarks. “My sympathy is with them.”
“No.” Julieta shook her head. “To let their child go… and they don’t even care. They either didn’t care to look in the first place or they couldn't recognise their own bloody child. It’s horrible. They don’t deserve any sympathy.”
“Julieta!” Her mother and brother both exclaim, in shock at her attitude.
All the family is, but Agustín and Félix are stunned into silence (not that they find a fault in her statement, it’s just unexpected for her), and Pepa is already nodding her head in agreement.
“I agree.” She said, turning to Julieta. “If it was one of our babies, I would have known instantly. Heartless people.”
La Ballet Madrigal
Ok so I had this cute little idea that on Antonio’s birthday/ceremony he wanted to do a little something special for it and I decided to write it.
-
Tumblr media
It was hard to budge Alma into doing it but eventually she agreed. Ok it wasn’t that hard, Alma could only say no for so long until her ballet bebecitos made her crack. And technically it was his birthday and as the birthday boy he could do whatever he wanted with it.
And that was doing a small show of what he had learned over the past year. It would be done on Mirabel’s stage, or technically the stage room. His abuela performed on a stage when she was eight, Mirabel performed when she was seven, and luisa performed when she was sixteen. Now at five years old it would be his turn. Kind of like a cute write-a-passage.
His ceremony would still go on but everyone was invited to casita much earlier for his first performance. EVERYBODY had to come, that includes family so no one was in position for excuses.
Antonio wore a navy blue button up shirt, baby blue vest with gold animal designs on it, and sky blue tights. He had asked Mirabel if he could wear the ballet shoes she wore for her ceremony and she gladly let him and casita made them smaller for him to wear. No resewing/resizing needed.
He had also asked luisa if he could wear the feather headpiece she wore when she played the white swan and of course she said yes. Before he even asked Alma, she gave him a magenta beaded bracelet that was given to her by her mama. She had Mirabel wear it for her first performance, then Luisa, then of course, Antonio.
It was so sweet that he wanted to wear little things from his primas and abuela’s, kind of like little tokens of luck.
So now he was on the stage, doing the best he could of what he remembered. He was nervous of course, so many people had their eyes on him and expected him to do good, a lot of pressure for a five year old.
But he stuck to his primas and abuela’s advice;
“Just focus on us and only us, and you’ll be ok”
Luisa’s second tip
“Just imagine everyone in silly costumes”
And he did just that, he only focused on his familia and that made him smile. Alma was right in center, looking as proud as any abuela could for her neito. On her left was his primas, who were silently cheering him on and giving him thumbs up as he went along.
He tripped and stumbled once or twice but he got right back up and kept going like Mirabel and lulu told him. Apart from those times he kept up with the music and kept balance all the way through. He performed his first solo variation, Blue bird.
The music had ended and the small boy huffed as he bowed.  The crowd and his familia cheered for him, as always Julieta pulled a bouquet of flowers out of thin air and threw it up to Antonio. The bouquet was an assortment of blue hydrangea and yellow begonias. He of course caught it and waved in the way Alma taught him too. The curtains closed and Antoio walked to the back of the stage and was immediately met with his family.
Pepa and Felix were the first to give him a big hug, congratulating him, then Dolores and Camilo. After them was the blue family of course. Isabela congratulated him first with a hug and a sprinkle of orange flowers in his hair. Luisa picked him up in a tight hug, Mirabel and Alma following suit.
“You were so amazing, tonito!” Luisa beamed as the boy giggled in her hug.
“That was the best show I’ve ever seen, well, apart from Luisa’s” Mirabel chimed in, ruffling his hair and giving him a squeeze too.
“You did so well!” Julieta congratulated as well, but just as she did her daughters, she checked his body for injury too. After he and her daughter reassured her he’s fine she gave him a small peck on the forehead and an arepa.
“Did I do good abuela?” Antonio looked at his grandmother expectantly as he held a big smile we all love so much. “I did all the turns and spins! And I did the right positions like you taught me!”
“You did it perfectly just like your primas and me before you, and don’t you worry about your falls, you actually did better than I did for my first time.” Alma patted his head and gave him a forehead kiss.
“Now, how about we get a picture, Casita!” Alma’s eyes glittered at the thought and Casita instantly brought the camera in for a picture.
For Mira’s first variation she took a picture with Alma, Luisa did the same after her performance, now it was his turn and Antonio couldn’t be more happy. He always saw the two photos hanging up in the studio next to each other now he had the chance to be right next to them.
The three four of them posed for a photo; Antonio in front, Alma behind him, Mirabel on her left, and Luisa on her right.
“La Ballet Madrigal” Alma cheered
“La Ballet Madrigal!” all four of them posed and the picture was taken.
Everything was perfect in that moment; it almost made you forget Antonio had a door to get to…but not too much. The ceremony went on as planned and the boy finally got his own room…time flies. But Antonio made sure to keep his abuela and Primas close to him all night until he slept…for emotional support.
-
Also, I have a little question. I remember for a suggestion; you said Alma would indirectly pressure Mirabel into doing ballet more. and that had me thinking, would Alma pressure Luisa and Antonio into doing it more too or no?
Also, what would be Luisa and Antonio's favorite ballet shows? I have a little idea that maybe Casita has a way to show different plays such as;
The Nutcracker
Giselle
Swan Lake
Don Quixote
Romeo & Juliet
Little red riding hood
Beauty and the best
and probably many others
Maybe casita shows the plays through a projector of some sort?
SOBBING. CRYING SCREAMING. HE’S SO CUTE WHAT <3333
So funny that they. Literally have to go. Like Alma really got fed up huh 😭 ay but at least homeboy was ready. Just had stage fright but it’s cool. Gotta love Mirabel and Luisa for giving him tips to stay focused and not think about the crowd.
Also???? Loving the idea where for their first performance they wore the bracelet. I also find it funny that that bracelet is older than literally everyone in the family besides Alma. Like she kept it for so long, that it so sweet ‼️😮‍💨
I gave his vest a long tail and. And tried to make it look like feathers. You know so he’s look more like a bird. I think Mirabel would’ve made it. She makes hers, Luisa’s and Antonio’s outfits whenever they have shoes. (Especially Luisa because Mirabel is one of the few who can tailor outfits to fit Luisa).
Tumblr media
So. For Luisa and Antonio, it’s not as much. But she is like “it’s a commitment, so you gotta keep it up”. She doesn’t pressure them, but she is like if you’re gonna do it, you gotta come and you gotta practice. For Mirabel, she likes doing it, loves it, but she does feel like she has to. Not on,y to make up for not having a gift, but also because it’s Alma lays her attention when she doesn’t. In the one year from her failed ceremony until she started ballet, Alma kinda avoided her.
So when Mirabel saw that ballet got her attention, she had another reason to continue. It got Abuela’s attention. She was noticed. She got praised. Luisa and Antonio, it’s more like a hobby. A side hustle. They love dancing, especially with Mirabel, so they, especially Luisa, will take time out of their day to go dance, but they doesn’t necessarily feel they have to.
As for favorites uhhhhh. Luisa likes the nutcracker. First time she saw it, she LOVED it, it was also one of Mirabel’s first major roles, she was young Clara. And when she started practicing, Luisa begged Alma to let her play the Sugar Plum Fairy. Of course Alma folded like a wet paper towel. Another Luisa likes is Coppélia. The thought of dressing up and dancing like that of a doll is just. So amazing to her, she loves it. She likes the music too.
Antonio likes Little Red Riding Hood. He unironically likes being the wolf. I’m so serious, he doesn’t care if he’s the youngest and shortest, he’ll still play the role, it never stopped him. His second favorite is Don Quixote.
Picture Perfect...?
The Madrigals were all doing their own things today.
It had been 3 months since the Casita crashed, and the rebuild. They had all become closer than ever! Feeling like they've truly reunited properly.
Of course, they still had secrets...
Dolores, was sat in the main room, next to Mariano. Dolores was listening with excitement as Mariano spoke, his voice like music to her ears.
Camilo, was with Antonio, upstairs. They were running do the halls, Antonio was riding his Jaguar, parce, as Camilo tried to keep up.
Isabela was sat on her vine swing, decorated with new plants. She was tripping up Camilo every now an again by growing random plants.
Luisa was relaxing in a hammock, a drink in hand, her donkey-unicorn stuffie in the hammock next to her. Both laying in the sun.
Pepa was stood with Felix, both were charring by the bottom of the stairs, their conversation going unheard by the other Madrigals,
but it was clearly happy and loving, since Pepa's cheek were practically painted pink, and the sun was shining above the town, and Felix was sporting his loving, flirtatious smile at his wife, speaking to her in Spanish.
Bruno was sat in his bedroom, redecorating.
Julieta was sat outside with Agustìn, both enjoying the nice weather.
Alma was sat in the kitchen, sipping a cup of coffee as she read a book, a romance. But she wouldn't admit that.
And Mirabel was setting the plates for dinner.
"Mirabel, dinner isn't for a few hours yet?" Alma says, her head tilting up, her eyes going from her book to her granddaughter who had just finished setting the plates.
"Well, I like getting ready early, this way we don't spend time putting the plates out during dinner." Mirabel explains.
"And we repaired Tio Bruno's old plate! We wanna surprise him at dinner!" Mirabel smiles excitedly, her usual cheerfulness, radiating from her like light did from the sun.
"He'll love it, Nieta. How about you go play with your cousins? Or sisters?" Alma suggests, but it was more like an order.
"But I need -" Mirabel's excuse was cut short.
"No. No, I won't hear any of that, go enjoy the nice day -"
The sound of glass shattering filled the house, everyone jumped.
Pepa picked up thr photo, it was of Antonio's ceremony.
"Camilo! Antonio! You both need to be careful!" Pepa scolded her younger children, a cloud growing over her head.
"Mi Vida, look." Felix whispers, taking the picture, showing his wife. "Where's Mirabel? She isn't in the photograph."
At this, the entire family started to crowd around, peering at the picture.
"Mirabel?" Antonio asks, looking up, the entire family copied. They looked at Mirabel, who was stood at the entrance of the kitchen, her hands clasped infront of her, a nervous look on her face, as if she had done something wrong.
"Mirabel, why aren't you in the picture?" Pepa asks, her voice carried confusion and a hint of sadness.
Mirabel looked away, her fingers interlaced before her hands moved to her to her side.
"W, well, you all were really excited, a and I wasn't included, I don't have a gift, I guess you all just forgot to include me, but I get why, I mean, you need to have a gift to be a Madrigal!" Mirabel says quickly, her hands moving as she spoke, moving with her voice.
As Mirabel spoke, the look on the Madrigals' faces slowly turned to stunned sadness.
Pepa's clowd turned dark and a light drizzle started to pour down.
"M, mirabel, we forgot you?" *Julieta asked, staring at her daughter. "Why didn't you say? We could've redone it." She says. Walking up to her daughter.
"Well, you were all really happy, a and I didn't wanna be a bother, so I just...stayed quiet." Mirabel says.
"Oh Miraboo." Agustìn says lovingly and sadly, using her nickname only he could say, he hugged his daughter tightly.
"You could never be a bother. You're a part of the familia Madrigal!" He smiles, trying to lighten the mood.
"This won't do." Alma says firmly, her hands clasped together, the entire family looked up to their Matriarch, waiting for her to continue.
"Next week. We will have a party, for Mirabel's sixteenth birthday." Alma says, then looks directly at Mirabel "And Mirabel, you will be the centre of the photo." Alma says firmly but kindly, showing she genuinely meant her words. "We missed your gift ceremony, and your Quinceara. We will have to fix that."
"You really don't have to!" Mirabel tried to change their minds, but the family was already brainstorming.
"Out! The future birthday girls cannot hear the plan!" Camilo says, ushering Mirabel to the kitchen.
Mirabel chuckled. She knew her family was trying to make up for it all.
Familia Madrigal was healing. And it would take time
But they'd slowly heal the cracks.
A little, but important, sneak peek from a very long project. Idk when it’ll come out, but I hope soon! There’s a piece of my heart in it <3
Tumblr media
“THIS MIRACLE ISN’T A BLESSING AT ALL!” at the end, Bruno shouts out his thoughts and a short moment of silence comes in.
He talks again, but now his voice is low and trembling, “We are suffering mamá… Julieta is always full of work and stress, Pepa shuts her emotions down over and over, the kids are stressed too and I… I can’t take it anymore… everyone hates me, my familia hates me, you hate me, I hate- I’m leaving…” he speaks in fear while his hermanas embrace each other with wide, wet eyes and a little grey cloud on their heads.
“If you leave this house, you are DEAD to me,” Alma says quietly, she is calm, so calm that she scares him, this time her face become apathetic and her eyes empty.
“MIERDA MAMÁ, I WISH I WAS DEAD!” he barks. He gasps at his own words and looks for his hermanas eyes. A tear runs in his beard and he escapes in his room before his mamá can respond.
Encantober 2023 Day 16: Grief
The end of January was always a hard time of the year for Julieta and Agustin. January twenty-sixth was the original due date for the child they were supposed to have when Luisa was two years old. Julieta and Agustin were so excited that they were having another child together, but their lives would come crashing down that spring. She got several tests done at the hospital and it was confirmed that she miscarried.
The months after the announcement were the most devastating months for Julieta and Agustin. They saw the door disappear slowly before getting a confirmation from the doctor, which made them anxious. That was when they went to the hospital to get the confirmation. The entire family grieved the loss of their potential new child, sibling, cousin, grandchild, and nibling, but Julieta carrying the child made her the most traumatized.
Now, every year on January twenty-sixth, the Madrigal family hosts a private memorial service to remember the life the child could have had with them. Alma would tell the story of the would-be Madrigal to Mirabel, Camilo, and Antonio and have a yearly candle ceremony by the lake. While they also celebrated the life the child could have had, Julieta and Agustin could not get themselves to even try to celebrate their child’s potential life.
When the child’s would-have-been eighteenth birthday approached, Alma decided to hold a ceremony at Casita and have Julieta make a cake for them. As much as she did not want to, she agreed anyway because they would still be an important part of the family, and it would have been her child, after all.
While she was baking the cake, Mirabel came into the kitchen to see her mother clearly upset while baking. She could not help but walk in to see her mother crying and see how she was doing.
“Hola, mami; I couldn’t help but notice you still crying while baking. Are you still upset about the miscarriage?”
“Si, Mirabel; I really hope you never have to deal with this when you get to my age. It’s one of the most devastating things any mother could go through. That’s why we always say how you were our miracle baby, because we didn’t think we would be able to have any more children after that.”
Mirabel sat at the kitchen island while Julieta continued gathering ingredients. “I hope you don’t mind, mami, but could you tell me about your pregnancy a little bit? I know it didn’t last long, but I wanted to know how it felt.”
Julieta signaled Mirabel to come near her. “I was so excited about having a third child. Your tia was visibly upset and jealous since she was trying so hard to conceive and knowing I was able to do so twice after her made her visibly upset. But she still supported me and was just as upset when I announced the miscarriage.”
Mirabel hugged her mother once she told that part of the story. She wanted to learn more about the older sibling she could have had, but she also knew there was not much information to be revealed since her pregnancy did not last very long.
“You also have no idea how excited your papi and I were when I was pregnant with you two years later. It was also why I got so emotional when you were born. It also made me worried because of the last pregnancy. So I was kind of overprotective of you when you were born. I didn’t even let your tia Pepa or tio Bruno hold you for a couple weeks because I was too scared of losing you.”
Mirabel began helping her mother with the cake by taking out some flour and sugar from the cabinet. “Do you remember how you felt after the miscarriage was announced?”
“It was the most devastating news your papa and I got. We went to the hospital that day because we saw the door fade and we needed to do some tests at the hospital to see if we didn’t miscarry. Once we did the test, they diagnosed the miscarriage and that was when we and the rest of the family got the news.”
Julieta put a bowl on the counter and Mirabel started to scoop flour into it. Julieta got the milk and the butter from the refrigerator and put it on the counter. “Do you still sometimes wonder what kind of gift they would have had if they were born?”
“We sometimes do; we wonder a lot of things about the child if we ended up having them. Like, what their interests would have been, or which one of the adults they would have been the most attached to. Bruno liked to joke about how they would have been the most attached to him just to tease me, since Isabela was the most attached to you abuela and Luisa was the most attached to your papi.”
Julieta took two cups of water and put it in the bowl of flour. Isabela and Luisa came into the kitchen to see their mother and sister working on the cake. “Hola, Mami and Mirabel, we just wanted to see how the cake was doing,” Isabela mentioned.
“The cake is getting done. I just needed to give Mami some motivation to make it,” Mirabel replied.
“What’s been going on?” Luisa asked.
“I’ve just been thinking about the child I would have had, like I always do when we have these ceremonies,” Julieta explained.
“Mami, I know that this is the hardest day of the year for you and papi, and you’re not wrong for still grieving for their potential life. But you still understand why Abuela holds these ceremonies every year, right?” Isabela explained.
“Si, because the life they would have had would still be special and to teach us that even the potential life is precious.”
Julieta’s daughters hugged her excitedly once she mentioned the reason. “So you still understand the meaning of these ceremonies,” Mirabel mentioned.
“And besides, you still have three amazing daughters that fill your life with joy everyday,” said Isabela.
“And you still call Mirabel your miracle baby and express how grateful you are that she’s here, alive, and healthy,” Luisa added.
Julieta hugged her daughters back. “Do you want to help me with the cake? Mirabel offered and we would need this done in a couple hours.”
“Si, mami, we would love to,” Luisa replied.
The cool-colored sisters gathered more ingredients for the cake and helped Julieta finish making the cake. They put it in the oven after gathering the ingredients and helping Julieta mix them in the batter. After a half hour, Julieta took the cake out of the oven and Mirabel got the icing out of the refrigerator, and all three girls iced the cake. Each daughter then decided to be in charge of one decorating process for the cake and it was done within another half hour. The four women looked at the cake in awe to see how great it looked.
“I’m sure it’s going to taste as great as it looks,” Mirabel pointed out.
“And it’s all because I got my three amazing daughters to help me out,” Julieta added.
Alma came into the kitchen to see her elder daughter and her three cool-colored granddaughters finishing up with the cake.
“Is the cake almost finished? You have been in here for several hours,” Alma pointed out.
“Lo siento, mama, I was just thinking about the grief this miscarriage has given me and was telling Mirabel about my pregnancy at the time. I understand that I’ve been dreading this day every year for eighteen years, and I’m still going to in the future, but I’m starting to find some more positives on this day too,” Julieta explained.
Alma smiled and gave Julieta a hug. “I knew you would one day see the good in these ceremonies. You know that we celebrate all the Madrigals in this house, even the ones we lost and never got a chance at life.”
“I understand now, mama. And now, even Mirabel understands too.”
Hey I was wondering if you could make an encanto fic? I know the fandom is all mostly gone but I love the way you write these. It would be about Julieta getting wrecked by her siblings or sister. And please don’t feel obligated to do this. XD
Julieta’s tickle torture.
FINALLY!!! I promised I’d get it out and I shall do just that!!!!
(Btw, I know I said no Bruno but I GUESS it wouldn’t hurt to add him in a few times lol)
It was a normal day for the madrigals, doing chores, having fun and just living their ordinary lives.
Julieta however, remains a bit stressed because the madrigals are gonna have a few important guests (not the Guzmans, all my fics of Encanto usually tend to be after the movie timeline) coming over and julieta is stressed and planning how she can finish cooking quiet the meal just in time, she didn’t want to ask anyone for help because she didn’t want to disturb them.
Julieta: “hmm…so I can make the arepas first because they are easy, but I just don’t know about making like 30 arepas, arepas are easy but they just-“ *she was pacing back and forth*
Pepa: “julieta?” *she walked in the kitchen*
Julieta: *she smiled warmly at her sister* hey pepi! How can I help you?
Pepa: oh just heard some noises in here and I spotted you pacing around, you normally do it when you’re stressed so I just wanted to come in here and you know, help! *she smiled but soon it turned into a frown as she spotted a cloud above her head*
Pepa: ¡ay dios mío! Estas nubes nunca me dejarán en paz, como si lo jurara, creen que soy su madre o algo así!
*julieta burst to laughter*
Julieta: woah woah woah! Let’s maybe calm down. *she smiled and batted the cloud away* there we go! *she smiled*
Pepa: *sighs with a soft smile* thanks Juli. *she smiled and hugged her sister, julieta didn’t hesitate to hug back*
*bruno walked in*
Bruno: hey girls! Anyone got some arepas? The rats are hungry heh. *he chuckled nervously and rubbed his head*
Julieta: oh uhm, Bruno I think you’ll just have to give’em cheese, again…sorry Brunito…
Bruno: oh…okay that’s fine! Don’t even stress about it! Although, why? Any reason for they can’t eat arepas? I’m not saying I’m forcing you to make em it eat but I’m just asking out of curiosity and-
Pepa: she gets it Bruno. *she chuckled*
Bruno: oh, yeah okay. *he chuckled* oh uhm, Juli? You okay…?
*julieta was zoned out*
Pepa: julieta? Julieta? Helloooo! Earth to julieta!!!*she waved a hand infront of her face* no go. *she pouted in defeat*
Bruno: *smirked mischievously* unless… *he jumped and quickly gave julieta a quick sneeze to the side, making her yelp and jerk away*
Julieta: *yelps* Bruno! What was that for!?
Bruno: you okay?
Julieta: *sighs* yeah, I guess I’ve just been stressed with the guest coming, I don’t know if I’ll have enough time to make the food ready in time!! I don’t wanna ask anyone to help because I don’t wanna disturb them but it’s too much stress and I really wish I just had more time so I can prepare and-
*pepa and Bruno gave each other glance then smirked mischievously, as julieta was ranting on and on about her issue, she felt Pepa’s arms wrap around her, soon feeling Bruno’s ticklish fingers attack her stomach*
Bruno: pepa is right julieta, you know? Maybe tickles is just what you need.
*they smirked and Bruno kept up his relentless tickles, he noticed how high pitched her laughter got. He looked up to see pepa digging her fingers in julieta’s armpits, Bruno shuddered a bit because pepa’s fingers were REALLY good at tickling, the nails just makes it worse*
Julieta: WHAHHAHAH! STAHAHAHP! *she squirmed and thrashed around*
*bruno and pepa had to tackle julieta to the ground and kept up their relentless teases and tickle attack*
Pepa: aww, am I getting a good spot?~
Pepa: julieta quit moving! I see crumbs from your cooking! *she giggles* let me get them!! (Obviously there were no crumbs)
Pepa: hmmm….yeah no. *she smirked and began scribbling her stomach*
At this point, poor julieta had tears in her eyes, they knew enough was enough so they stopped, allowing the lady to breath*
*julieta wasn’t hesitant to curl up into a ball and pant, her face flushed. Bruno and pepa gave each other a high five*
Pepa: you okay juli?
Julieta: *pant* yeah, I’m fine…
*bruno gave her a glass of water and she gladly took it and drank it*
Bruno: sorry if we went a tad far. *he chuckled*
Pepa: hey hey, julieta, we are siblings, triplets! We will always and should be there for each other, please never be afraid to ask us, we will always be able to help you, you are our sister and we love you.
Bruno: yeah! We will always be there to help you, yes we make mistakes but hey! The more memories the more laughter!
*julieta smiles softly and hugged both of them*
Julieta: you guys are truly the best siblings anyone could ask for.
Pepa & Bruno: awww, we love you too julieta.
Pepa: now come on, let’s get these foods done and ready!
Bruno: oh oh! Dibs on making the arepas!
Pepa: no I do!
*the stood up and smirked at each other, julieta stood up and shook her head*
Julieta: here we go….again.
*the triplets managed to get the food ready, just in time before the guests arrived, you bet they pulled an all nighter talking about the chaos today. Julieta truly was grateful and thankful she had Pepa and Bruno as her siblings, she truly couldn’t and wouldn’t ask for more or for different siblings.*
Hi Sokka! Not sure if this is in the right place to submit this request/ask, but how would everyone that isn’t Mirabel react to seeing Bruno’s crazy Parkour moves for the first time (especially Alma because a small scare might be good for reminding her that she needs to work harder to do right by Bruno and keep him safe)? Also, how would they try to “rescue” him from falling? Bonus points if Bruno is super confused about why everyone is worried when he does stunts.
***
Pepa, Julieta, Agustín and Félix definitely already knew. They just assumed that maybe Bruno couldn’t anymore since he’s, you know, not in his twenties anymore. They sure can’t!
But Alma and the other kids? Clueless. They’re gonna have heart attacks
Tumblr media
It happened while they were rebuilding Casita. A lot of things happened while they were rebuilding Casita.
In this instance, Bruno nearly gave Abuela a heart attack.
Mirabel watched, impressed, as her uncle jumped up and climbed Casita’s growing walls with ease, to bring a bag of supplies to some of the villagers. He scaled the wall like a monkey, leaping over a gap and using a beam to swing himself to the platform they were on. He landed lightly, arms outstretched for balance. Smiling, he handed the bag to the gaping villager.
Mirabel wasn’t sure how he did it. Normally, Tio Bruno was distracted and clumsy.
“Huh,” Tio Félix said. “I didn’t think he could still do that.”
“Can I do that?” Camilo asked eagerly.
“Absolutely not.”
But then there was a horrified scream: “BRUNO MADRIGAL, GET DOWN FROM THERE!”
Abuela had spotted him. Uh oh.
“Eh?” Bruno was hanging upside down from one of the beams. “What’s up, Mamá?”
“What’s- wh- what’s up!?” she screamed. “Mijo, you’re going to break your neck!”
“Alma,” Félix said, tone careful and soft. “It’s okay, he’s-”
Bruno jumped down. Abuela actually covered her eyes.
He landed perfectly.
Camilo and Mirabel clapped.
“Mamá?” Bruno stepped forward cautious, eyes wide. “I’m okay.”
Breathing heavily, Alma pulled him into a tight hug. “Dios mio, don’t do that!” she gasped. “For pity’s sake, that’s dangerous!”
“I’ve been doing it for years,” Bruno said.
“I saw him do it when we met,” Mirabel added. “He’s good.”
Abuela was not reassured. Her eyes narrowed in suspicion. “Did your sisters knows about this?”
“No!” Bruno crossed his fingers behind his back. Félix quickly backed away. “Ay, Mamí, of course not!”
