plural culture is "oh god what if I'm not a system? Will my friends abandon me?" and "WAAAH I DON'T WANNA BE APART OF A SYSTEM ANYMOREEE; I WANT MY OWN LIFEEE" every other minute
.

yesterday I saw an endo sell their ocs as introjects for $45
That's not how this works
Just… sell them as adoptables at that point… not introjects. There’s nothing wrong with making art point blank just to sell. Introjects and any other alter term isn’t something to sell.

[quote] "ur main personality is the most important" [end quote]
i immediately know u havent actually read any medical documents if u say this
not only that but u immediately out urself as ableist as fuck (also as an asshole)
1) the correct term is whatever the system is most comfortable with collectively (alter, part , headmate , etc) and "personality" is an outdated term not used medically today (and rarely if at all as a community label)
2) a host is not a "main" part, nor is a core (cores are debated to exist, i use this term to only represent the argument outdated ableists make about "cores"). each part is equal. there may be a hierarchy in place within a system, but it is not a way to say a part is "lesser" in terms of importance
3) like i mentioned in point 2, there is no main personality. this argument is used to demean any part that may not be a host (eg: a persecutor, gatekeeper, or other role)
4) you do not have a say on how other systems function, label or manage themselves and to project this idea on to every system ever is ableist and exclusionary. some systems may be comfortable with this view or interpretation, but that does not then apply to everyone.
educate urself before u assume ur right 👍🏻

“there should be a new face for DID online”
hey so full offence LOL but to choose one person to be the “figurehead/face/image” for DID is so fucking tone deaf my ears are bleeding.
do you really think one person can be the sole representative of this disorder?
do you honestly think one person could entirely portray every experience under the umbrella of “101 ways to fuck a child up” ?
do you really honestly think having one person with DID being the ENTIRE image for OSDD, DID, PF-DID, TBMC DID, P-DID is whats good for everyone?
just one motherfucker we’re all supposed to place extreme guidance in what a system can present as & what healing is supposed to be ? really .
for gods sake . the reason why there isnt a face to autism is because autism can happen to everyone. you know what can also happen to anyone? chronic & repeated childhood abuse.
there should not be ONE face per community. a community is made up of several bodies who all manage to cover the entire scale of experience. to claim the face of OSDDID should be one person takes this away from ALL OF US.
theres NO reason for there to be one person defining the experiences of OSDDID, bc simply put NO ONE could experience the whole scale of OSDDID and know everything under the sun that can hurt a child.
its not fair to make the face of OSDDID one person. you could not understand the experience everyone holds in their own significant, detailed life.
people need to see people who understand them culturally, ethnically, religiously, and disorder wise- simply because we all have the right to know We are not alone in our lived experiences. that there are people out there who look like us and talk like us and heal like us.
we dont need one face for OSDDID community, we need multiple.

seeing people my age talk about how scared they are of memory loss, which they only associate with old age, is so surreal to see as a 24 year old who has actively experienced memory loss for a long time now
there are causes for memory loss besides dementia and alzheimer’s, i hope y’all know that. dissociative disorders, trauma, brain injuries, thyroid problems, even just stress and lack of sleep can fuck up your ability to store, process, and access memory. and that’s just a few of the many causes i can think of off the top of my head right now.
please stop treating disabled people like some scary “other” that you might become only in the distant, decades-away future. we are your age, too. you may become one of us sooner than you know. stop acting like memory loss marks the end of a life, when so many of us have so much living left to do!

People with psychotic disorders are neurodivergent too.
People with personality disorders are neurodivergent too.
People with substance abuse disorders are neurodivergent too.
People with tic disorders are neurodivergent too.
People with bipolar disorder are neurodivergent too.
People with dissociative disorders are neurodivergent too.
Neurodivergence isn’t just ADHD, autism, anxiety, and depression. (Plus those last two also get left out sometimes!) Neurodivergence is anything that affects your brain.
“Neurodivergent people hate loud noises” is actually just as valid as a statement as “neurodivergent people have delusions,” “neurodivergent people have tics,” or even “neurodivergent people have low empathy.”

Plural culture is being too scared to talk about interactions you've had with other alters because you don't want people to think you're just roleplaying with yourself (also something we've unfortunately been told by fake claimers)
I'll never understand why ppl seem to think we can't interact with each other
We share a brain and a body
There's gonna be some form of interaction

“Omg you have [character] can I talk to them?” “Fictives of [character] please interact!” “Omg I’m [fictive from same source material] I remember you!”
Always puts a bad taste in my mouth
I don’t mind it from people I’m close to, but complete strangers just seeing alters as source leaves me with a stomach ache and heavy nausea.
So, yeah, I agree.
Also the ones that want to “talk to {alter that’s source connected}” only for them to belittle and harass them because “they’re exactly like source” and then be fucking awful.
Like… treat alters like their own person rather than always seeing them as source.

me finding out i may have DID instead of OSDD-1b because we have a lot of amnesia apparently (so much so that it would most likely qualify us for a DID diagnosis) but it hides itself very well cuz we're extremely covert: wow that's crazy man, can't believe it! wait what's crazy? Hello

It’s interesting how there are at least 2 types of “I don’t remember that.”
1. Not remembering until the memory gets triggered/ you are confronted with evidence, and then you do remember.
2. Absolutely no evidence will bring back the memory. The memory does not exist anymore. That wasn’t me. Nope. Didn’t happen.
And then there’s “I have been told about this, and while I do not remember it, I know that it is factually correct. How do I know? I don’t know.”
I don’t even know what my point is, it’s just interesting to think about. Memories are weird, dissociation is weird. The way the highly traumatized young mind deals with memories is weird.

one of the most important things about dissociative identity disorder and generally being a system that i wish people would understand is that it truly isn’t as cut and dry as it may seem for member count.
you’ll see people who say they have “six alters” and then immediately assume it’s six fully fleshed out equal individuals with no confusion or fuzziness regarding identity. that’s simply not true in a majority of cases, as i have seen.
most systems still VERY much deal with confusion regarding potential splits, go through dissociative episodes where they’re unsure of who they are, sometimes feel no attachment towards any identities, feel like they might have split and then suddenly that person is gone, unsure if alters they haven’t heard from often have gone dormant, not sure how to react when alters do come out of dormancy, etc.
it’s not a fun feeling and it’s genuinely unfair in certain situations to force systems to list every single alter to you with full certainty, as if it will never change. because it will. for so many different reasons, systems will grow, they will shrink, they will fuse, they will develop. you can’t expect the person with the dissociative disorder and lack of core identity to be able to keep up a perfected list of forever, it’s simply impossible. you may have alters who stick with you, but that doesn’t mean changes won’t happen.
and systems who may be reading this — please don’t feel bad. you are not a hassle, you are not a headache, and you are not an inconvenience for simply coping with something like this. it’s out of your control and the only thing you can do is continue to cope to find ways to help yourself retrain from these reactions. please don’t allow yourself to be harmed by others who don’t understand what you are going through. there are people who will accept and love you for who you are, all of you.
past, present, and future.
