Study on Alter Relationships within DID/OSDD/UDD Systems
Hello! I’ve recently been interested in what way the relationships between alters in my system present, and so have decided to run a study to see how things are for other systems. I also wanted to research possible factors behind why relationships between alters differ between systems, so I thought this study could provide some interesting information on the DID/OSDD community generally.
All responses are 100% confidential, and there’s a longer informed consent statement which you’ll see before you start the study. It should take no longer than 5-10 minutes.
People who are eligible to take part in the study:
- DID/OSDD/UDD and other traumagenic systems. (You do notneed to be diagnosed, self diagnosed systems may take part.)
- Systems who apply to the above but do not have romantic or familial relationships in their system (Your response is still valuable!)
People who are NOT eligible to take part in the study:
- Endogenic systems or other system types who do not consider themselves to have DID/OSDD/UDD. (This is a study on how these relationships manifest in DID/OSDD/UDD specifically.)
- Anyone else who does not have DID/OSDD/UDD.
- Systems who do not have any knowledge on the relationships between their alters. (You may not be able to answer the required questions.)
I would really appreciate as many responses as possible, so I can have a big enough data set to draw some theories, so find the link below:
Even if you’re not eligible for the study, I would greatly appreciate any reblogs so that as many people as possible can take part.
I don’t have any set time for the study to close yet, but am aiming for at least 150-200 responses before it does. Stay tuned for any updates on that.

One thing that’s really cool about system culture is the wide variety of systems you meet. There will never be the same two systems in this world, which we can say for anything, but I think the several ways systems are is awesome.
I love the systems that view themselves as “one” together
I love the systems that view themselves as separate people
I love the systems that are open about their struggles
I love the systems that are open about their joy
I love the systems that hold a lot from the world
I love the systems who have complex roles all figured out
I love the systems who don’t have it all figured out but are straight vibing
I love the systems that have many introjects
I love the systems that have little to no introjects
I think it’s important to remember no system is alike, and that’s okay. Some systems cannot work together, some systems are not comfortable in their systems, some systems are happy with being one, and some systems work together like pros. And I think that’s pretty neat :)

SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITY AND WHY ITS IMPORTANT
system responsibility is essentially taking responsibility for the actions of all of your alters, even if you werent the alter who did the action. this is important because all alters are part of one collective whole and are not literally separate people, even if they feel like such. they are all dissociated parts of one brain and need to take accountability for all actions done by all parts of that brain for example, if one of your alters upsets someone, you still need to apologize to the person even if it wasnt you as an alter who upset them. being a system is never an excuse to not take accountability for bad behavior, even if it was technically another alter or if you dont remember it. excusing bad behavior with "oh i have DID/OSDD and it wasnt me" just makes other systems look bad, and thats the last thing we need with all the stigma we already face i genuinely dont understand why some people are so against system accountability, it isnt hard to take accountability for actions taken by your own brain in your own body. if your alters are genuinely hurting people you need to evaluate why that is happening and take steps to fix it, not just excuse it because "it was another alter" - grey and roman

TW basically just general system guilt and such
Can we please stop normalizing taking responsibility for other alters actions? Admittedly there are some alters in a system who enjoy taking on responsibility and it’s literally their job.
But that still doesn’t mean they have full control over any other alter in the system. At the end of the day an alters actions are theirs and theirs only.
I usually apologize on behalf of alters but I’m genuinely just tired of it. Especially when singlets expect that’s it’s some sort of moral duty to take care of other alters or clean up their messes.
I don’t want to. I already have to live with the consequences of someone else’s actions. Actions in which I had no say in or control over. I’m just tired of feeling guilty for something I didn’t even do.
Again all alters are individuals, all alters make different choices good or bad. I’m not gonna apologize for someone else’s mistakes. Sorry if that’s controversial lmfao
