“How they would comfort you” — JJK MEN HEADCANNONS.
GENRE: Fluff, mix of comedic comfort, overall comforting auras <3
________
GOJO
gojo is so unserious please
if we’re talking about teenage!gojo, good luck.
atp you gotta help yourself with your own comfort because HE would do anything and everything to make you one of two things:
angry or trying to be angry at him but end up laughing
“Please?”
“No.”
“C’mooon—“
“I said no.”
Gojo lets out a huff in annoyance, mimicking the same movement as a child as he juts out his lower lip. “You’re no fun.”
You gave him a look, a look of pure disbelief and awe as your own boyfriend was throwing a tantrum. During your shift at work, it was obviously not the best. With customers blazing in with drink orders that stacked to the bottom of the sticker, spill-mishaps, and that bitchy manager of yours… You opted to vent to Gojo in hopes to ease your mind. Well… You had hope, atleast.
“I’m literally having the shittiest day and you—“
He cut you off, widening his eyes largely while staring into the depths of your soul. You had stopped talking as you also stared him down, not wanting to back off from the silent fight of eye contact. Copying him, you too enlarged your eyes with tears threatening to prick themselves close.
“What are you doing?” You asked him, still holding the eye contact. Without blinking, Gojo responded back in a monotonous manner.
“Looking.”
“For what?”
“I dunno.”
“You’re hopeless.”
The fight continued on, seconds passing as both of your eyes reddened from the lack of moisture. The air felt chillier, and any gust of air that passed both of your pupils would be deadly to this competition. You swore silently you wouldn’t lose this battle, and intensified your gaze with your eyebrows furrowed. Upon doing that, however, the sight of Gojo’s unblinking eyes and silent tears rolling down his cheeks was definitely a sight to see. You stifled a laugh, not wanting to ruin your opportunity to win until you let it out. Your shoulders shook as you giggled loudly within the bedroom, wiping the tears away as Gojo returned the same enthusiasm.
“W-Why the… Just why?” You asked, still heavily confused about the whole eye contact competition, but finding it ultimately amusing. You calmed yourself down, letting out the occasional breathless chuckle.
“I would rather you let out happy tears than sad ones. So, turns out I won anyway.”
“Fuck you.”
________
NANAMI
the BEST comforter, hands down
tbh i’ll say this honestly rn,,, i wasn’t a big nanami fan previously but even i would tell this man would be sooooo great at making you feel better
puts YOU firsthand, no objections
if you end up objecting tho, then he will take matters into his own hands
“I can take care of myself, y’know?” you stated firmly, trying to push off Nanami’s strong grasp around your arms. The man in question simply heard you cough once, and deemed it as a sign of you getting sick.
He let out a gruff sigh, not responding to you with words but through his actions, hoisting you up easily by your thighs and carrying you to his king-sized bed.
“One cough and you think this is the end of the world!”
“That one cough can end up making you think that the world is ending for you,” he retorted back, placing his hands on his hips as he finally situated you onto his bed; the plush duvet covers instantly swallowing you whole.
“You always think you can handle yourself,” he continued, pulling the duvet covers up and gently lifting your head from the pillow, fluffing it up a bit before placing you back down. “If you really want to try and take care of yourself, I will not dismiss that… However…”
He crouched down beside the bed, balancing on his haunches as he smiled softly at your tired expression.
“… At least let me aid you a tiny bit, love.”
________
MEGUMI
this hoe istg
hoe in a loving way by the way, pls don’t track me down
BUT! since this boy is SO nonchalant and passive, however he has that certain side to him that makes him so welcoming and warm. it’s charming, to say the least.
it’s like he knows you and your quirks so well that you didn’t even notice them at first
You and Megumi were walking hand in hand down the busy street of Tokyo, Harajuku, in hopes of finding the cute café you were eyeing a couple weeks back. You were astounded, of course, but Megumi was getting a little antsy of not being able to locate the café you had your sights upon.
“We’ve been walking for ages,” he sighed, matching his pace beside you through the busy streets. You gave him a look before flipping your attention back to the map on your phone, staring hard at the complicated details provided.
“No wait— Ahh! Maybe we take a left over here?” you said, turning abruptly which caused Megumi to be swallowed by the crowd. You whiplashed your head to the side to locate him, but to no avail, he was gone from your side.
A slight rise of anxiety started to bubble up in your chest until warm, slender fingers laced around your own. Peering up, you saw your boyfriend instantly by your side once more, leading you through the crowd wordlessly. Never once did he loosen his grip, it was firm and gentle. A tiny squeeze of his hand alerted you to look at him again, to which a little smile was plastered on his face.
“Hurry up. I found the café you were trying to find.”
You didn’t notice the same café’s address was in his phone’s search bar, though.
________
YUJI
LORDDDDDDD
golden retriever boyfriend right here
so undeniably understanding and prioritizing to your needs, no wonder he looks up to nanami a lot
i feel like he’d be the type of boyfriend who would go through a spontaneous, yet step-by-step routine to pamper you
You were over at Yuji’s house, unwinding and relaxing while playing on his PC. Well, trying to unwind and relax, but the stupid game you wanted to try out wasn’t going so well.
“Fuck!” you screamed out, running your fingers through your hair and tugging at your scalp. “I got the same character pull again!”
Yuji peeked over at the screen, apparently this game had a gacha system implemented in it. Certain number of pulls have a higher chance of a guaranteed character, but you weren’t so lucky.
“There’s no hope…” You groaned out, slumping back in your chair as Yuji inches closer to the screen. He eyes the character displayed on it, annoyingly mocking your very state.
“Can I try?” he asks with a wide, toothy smile.
You huffed out a sigh, glancing over back to the screen briefly before back at him. “I only have like… One pull left, but knock yourself out.”
He excitedly moves his body closer, instantly clicking on the character banner you were trying to get and watched the pretty hues of blues and yellows swirl around. Tiny sparkles littered the blackened screen, before—
“Is this a good character?”
Huh? You adjusted your torso once more and sat up to look at the screen to see the desired game character you’ve been wanting to get. This entire time, now gotten from the lucky hands of Yuji.
“Huh?!” you exclaimed loudly, eyes wide at the sight before you. There was no way that he pulled the character you were ogling over— One you spent your hard earned in-game currency on as well as losing every single time.
“I’m guessing he’s good! Judging that reaction of yours—“
“Fuck off,” you said with a distasteful tone, but a wide smile playing on your lips.

Could you please do gn!reader x lucifer who is very quite at first but after opening up they're like the complete opposite of before? Like frequent hand holding talking a lot and just overall very lively and absolutely adores Lucifer's rubber ducks (maybe also a creator themself?) anyways thank you and have an amazing day!
A/N - Absotutly! That’s so cute! You have an amazing day as well! :)
Pairing(s) - Lucifer x Gn!reader
W/C - fluff, sfw, slight ep 5 spoilers (it is his debut ep), not proofread…
Tumblr media
He definitely thought you were always like that since he never saw you with anyone you were close with when you first met him.
He thought it was cute how shy you were but he wanted you to open up because he was curious about you.
You are mysterious in his eyes
He felt that if he spent more time with you he could figure you out.
On one hellish day Lucifer was working on a project (duck) out of boredom when he heard his door creak open. He turns himself in his chair to see you peaking your head in to observe him. He smiles at you and gestures for you to come closer. After you nervously move yourself into the room completely you make your way over to stand beside his chair. He gently grabs your hand and pulls you closer to him and the work desk and holds up his new invented duck closer to your face with his free hand.
“I know it’s not much but I really do love them…” he tells you with a hint of bashfulness as he uses his magic to give the illusion of it swimming in the air. You look at it in amazement and admiration as you speak quietly, “No…it’s magnificent…”
He watches with a soft smile as you admire his creation and pulls you down to where he sits, kissing your cheek gently.
When you start opening up it does come as a bit of surprise even though that was his plan from the beginning.
While he’s happy that you’re being open with him, he is not used to it and gets a little nervous or flustered by your actions.
If you grab his hand suddenly he will freeze and have to process what just happened for the first few times…
After a bit he will slowly start to get used to it, like…it will take a while…
He hasn’t had this facts of affection given to him for awhile so as much as he is super grateful, it’s still something he has to get used to again.
He absolutely loves it when he gets used to it and of course does it back tenfold!
While he could easily tell that you loved his ducks from the start…it was a shock when you gave him one that you created for the first time. Though he’ll cherish it forever! More than any other creations!
After the initial shock of realization that you also invent ducks he becomes absolutely ecstatic about it!
You two get to bounce ideas off eachother and collaborate on new types of ducks.
Sometimes when you just can’t find the creative inspiration to make the duck you hoped for, he will use his magic to make your idea come to life.
“Luci~! I need your help!” you call to him as you run up to him at his work desk, giving him a tight hug from behind. He jumps at the action but chuckles quietly, responding to you, “With what, my swan?”
You release him from the big and move beside him, holding up your almost finished rubber duck. “I think it’s quite cute but something is missing…but you always know how to make it perfect!” You explain eagerly.
He nods and take it from your hand, using his free hand to manifest his magic. As he is about to infuse it with his magic, you speak, “I forget to tell y-“ and it explodes with confetti before your eyes.
He winced in surprise and you burst out in laughter. He turns to you with a mix of shock and confusion causing you to speak through your laughter, “I’m sorry~! Pfft…what I was trying to say was that I constructed it to explode on contact with magic~…I just wanted you to look over it to fix its physicality!” You giggle at him.
He shakes his head and laughs lightly, “I think you did that on purpose, missy.” You fail to hide your smirk and decide to give yourself away with a shrug, responding in a playful tone, “Maybe I did…” He grabs your waist gently and pulls you close, giving you a light kiss on your lips. You two laugh in the kiss as he spins you around. After, you both turn back to his work desk and start on a new creation together…
I hope y’all enjoyed! I loved writing this! :)

cherry on top.
Tumblr media
fushiguro toji x reader
in which your boyfriend of the last three years treats you to a birthday that he thinks you more than deserve :D
w — no curses AU, implied! Rich! Toji, a grain of angst, hair length isn’t specified but it’s enough to make a small bun, mentions of chubby! MC, and the hope that the fluff rots your teeth 🤭 not the best thing ever written by my hands but I love it anyway
a/n: happy birthday to me! this would’ve been out sooner today but I got a lil bit sick 😷 i’m unfortunately another year older but maybe another year closer to finding the man that’ll treat me like toji does mc in this fic haha. enjoy y’all’s reverse-birthday present lmao. this is a lil bit of self-indulgence btw so if it flops that’s why (but hopefully you guys like it too). I also tried to do accurate research on irl locations of the places that are mentioned, so I’m sorry if something isn’t correct 🙈
Tumblr media
You don’t like the shake on your shoulder that wakes you up, nor the soft whisper of your name dropping from your boyfriend’s lip. You like it even less when you open your (very notably) tired eyes and look at the clock and see what time it is.
“What the fuck, Toji?”
He grins at your mumbled swears. “Happy birthday, cupcake.”
You know for a fact you have junk in your eyes, your hair’s a mess, your breath is borderline rancid and needs brushing, and that you overall look (and feel) like you just crawled out of a sewer completely deprived of sleep. So how this wonderful man squats beside the bed and combs his large fingers through your hair and gets his face so close to yours to attempt to kiss you is beyond your comprehension.
You cover your lips with the blanket, making him chuckle.
“Let’s celebrate, yeah?” Toji says, then stands to his full height. That’s when you notice that he’s dressed in regular clothes. “Gotta show my woman how much she means to me, don’t I?”
You quickly pull the blanket over your head to try and diminish his efforts. “If you wanna show me how much you love me, then let me sleep all day.”
Toji laughs as you snuggle into the pillow under your head. But the more you dig your cheek into the pillow, the farther away your ability to fall back asleep seems to be. You dig your nose into the soft material and let out a heavy sigh, hoping he doesn’t hear.
He’s won. “Come on. I’ll help you get out of bed and get ready, if that’s what it takes.” And when he chuckles after, you know he knows he’s won.
Toji lifts you by your outstretched hand to get you sitting on the edge of the bed, then proceeds to do the little things to get you ready that make your desperately-tired-but-desperately-in-love heart turn to mush.
Toji turns the sink on to get it warm so you can clean your teeth and face. Once you’re done, you realize he’s already got clothes already waiting for you to change into (one of his shirts that’s super baggy on you and a pair of red-pink floral leggings) on the bed. And once you change, he’s got your hairbrush in his big hands. He slowly combs his thick fingers through your hair, gently untangling the knots and brushing them out with minimal effort and pain.
You admit you nearly fall asleep again to his touch without shame.
“Don’t fall back into sleep,” Toji’s deep voice rumbles, which only soothes you further. “The day hasn’t even started yet.”
“You’re right,” you reply, yawning loudly. “It’s not even dawn yet.”
“Daybreak will be here when we get to the car,” he comments.
“Nice way of saying I’m slow,” you mumble.
Toji chuckles as he ties your hair into a bun, the stray baby locks being too short and left to dangle by your cheeks. He takes your smaller hand into his, and you still can’t help but feel flustered knowing how much bigger and warmer his hand is in comparison to yours is (read: you can’t help but feel flustered knowing you have someone holding your hand so sweetly with a hand as big as Toji’s).
There’s a small breeze when you step outside. And sure enough, Toji’s assumption is correct: the sun is starting to break over the horizon by the time you walk out to the car.
“Told you so,” Toji jokes.
You roll your eyes, but you can’t help but grin, too. “Shut up.”
He opens the car door for you like a gentleman, to which you feel your cheeks warm up in embarrassment.
When he starts the car and grips the wheel, it’s then he asks, “Where do you want to go for breakfast?”
You immediately know where you want to go. And you feel you know Toji knows, too. It’s been a place you’ve only been to twice because of how expensive it was, but it has the best waffles you’ve ever tasted. The thing about it though was, if you went, there wasn’t going to be a way for you to control your appetite.
You look to Toji, lips in a straight line as you internally debate with yourself.
“You have to promise me something.”
“Anything.”
“Don’t laugh at how much I order.”
Toji chuckles at that, to which you send him a playful glare. He holds his hands up in mock surrender, the scarred corner of his lip quirking up.
“I promise.”
“Or how I eat.”
“I’ve seen how you eat, don’t worry.”
“That doesn’t make me feel any better.”
Toji takes you to the fancy breakfast-only restaurant you murmur in embarrassment under your breath. And you were right: he already knows. Because the place was where you originally met—Toji’s umpteenth time with Megumi, while it was your second and last time.
Until today.
“You want me to take you here more often?” Toji asks.
You have a mouthful of syrupy waffles shoved into your mouth when he asks. You can’t help but feel embarrassed over the sudden focus on you while your cheeks are stuffed and puffed up like a chipmunk. But you nod anyway, slowly chewing the waffles and swallowing them.
“Don’t slow down on my accord,” Toji adds.
“You’re gonna make me fat,” you accuse jokingly.
Toji shrugs. And when that damned smirk appears on his face, you know he’s fixing to say something you aren’t gonna like.
“So what? You look good with rolls. More for me to love and grab during-”
“SHUSH!” you whisper-scream, eyes bulging out in hopes no one around you heard what he was implying.
The buff man only chuckles and smiles wider, happy with making you as flustered as he has.
You both end up stuffing a gut (on Toji’s even more overstuffed wallet) on the breakfast food before you two move on. Whatever he has planned next has you two driving for a good while after breakfast, which eventually leads you to ask, “Where to now?”
“To Narita.”
“Why?”
“To do one of the things you do the least,” he replies with a smirk.
You go blank. You admit to yourself you have no idea what he’s talking about. You try and think on it, and when he pulls into the Aeon Mall, a small lightbulb appears over your head. You look at him incredulously, while Toji looks extremely proud of himself.
“You’re taking me shopping?”
“Surprise.”
You belt out a small laugh. Of course. Of course this man would take you shopping. Of course he would do something that you felt so uncomfortable doing.
Shopping for yourself hadn’t been something you did for yourself often. Or really at all; only when you really needed to.
After being financially strapped for most of your life, from childhood until recently, you hadn’t spent much on yourself. You didn’t treat yourself to the finer things in life, even when you could’ve. And it left you empty, without a desire to be kind or do things for yourself. It left your birthday without luster, hollow, and without purpose, which led to you being so… uncaring about the day.
The day Toji, unknowingly to you, loved the most. Because it brought you into this world, into his and Megumi’s life. He’d be damned if he was going to let you act like it was just another day of the year.
Fuck that. His bank account was more than big enough to treat his woman to a proper birthday that she more than deserved.
Those thoughts were only reaffirmed by the bug-eyed, awestruck look on your face, your pretty eyes lighting up with a childlike wonder he’d only seen less than the amount of fingers on his right hand. He loved seeing it.
Oh yeah, he was going to spoil the fuck out of you.
You turn to him, mouth ajar with a twinkle in your eyes. But something crossed over your face for a split second—an emotion he knew too well: guilt.
“Toji…”
Fuck. He didn’t like it. He didn’t like it one little bit. Not the look that crossed your face, even for a second, not the sound of your voice as you called out to him. He wasn’t going to let your goody-two-shoes, guilty-feeling heart spoil his goal of reigniting your appreciation for your own birthday. Nope.
Toji wraps an arm around your waist and presses a sweet peck against the top of your head. “Don’t even try and do that shit—feeling guilty and all that. You ain’t taking advantage, woman. Now go shop. I ain’t got these big arms for nothing.”
“You aren’t my sugar daddy, you know,” you reply, brows raised with lips quirked up in amusement.
“No, I’m not. I’m a rich man that loves his woman and wants her to have the best birthday she’s had in years and take a massive chunk outta my bank account,” he boldly retorts. He grins that familiar, shit-eating grin, dips his head and neck and presses his lips against your cheek, and drags you forward, deeper into the mall. You can only help but throw your head back and laugh.
You spend several good, long-ass hours in the mall; a few hours pass what is considered lunchtime before you two do enough shopping that you both have to go back outside to the car to pack it with what has been bought before you can even think about getting anything to eat.
“What do you want for lunch?” Toji asks, stretching his burly arms before leaning against the car.
Your reply is instant, “KFC.”
Toji snorts, chuckling. He interlaces his thick fingers between yours and leads you both back inside.
Another few hours are spent buying clothes, a fluffy blanket you eyeballed and Toji was going to buy no matter how much you told him to put it back, and a few plushies of some of your favorite Pokémon. On the way home, Toji surprises you again by going to Mister Donut and practically taking half of what the store had. You died laughing in the car afterward because some of the other customers got offended as they watched him take so much.
“Toji, you shouldn’t have taken so much,” you giggle behind your hand as lean back against the door. “You seemed like an asshole.”
He smirks, holding the wheel with one hand and using the other to pinch your cheek.
“Don’t give a shit,” he laughs. You playfully swat at his hand. “You said you wanted donuts earlier, so you’ll get some donuts.”
“I didn’t mean the entire store.”
“Shoulda been more specific then.” Toji winks and the smirk on his face grows even wider.
The sky is painted beautiful oranges, pinks, and blues by the time you arrive home. The sun is setting beneath the horizon, under the green land and leaving behind the lights of the city and glitter of the stars dancing in the darkening sky to light the world. For some reason, it’s more… breathtaking than you remembered. You’d often spend time outside as the sun set, thinking nothing of it.
Maybe it was because of today.
Your eyes flicker to your boyfriend and the massive muscles of his arms bulging against the black shirt as he takes everything you’ve bought inside, and you can’t help the flutter in your stomach and the quickening pace of your heart.
Maybe it was because of Toji, and him making your birthday the most special it’s felt in years.
The smile that makes your lips go from ear to ear doesn’t go unnoticed by the black-haired man when he comes back outside. Nor does the sniffle and the backs of your hands wiping away at tears sliding down your cheeks. It makes Toji’s lips pull into a slight frown. This isn’t what he was expecting. Nor what he wanted to see.
He slides an arm around your shoulders, tugging you to his muscled chest.
“You ain’t supposed to be crying, baby,” he mumbles, big hands rubbing circles on your back to soothe you. “Come on. I’m going to start dinner. Shouldn’t be cryin’, sweetheart.”
“I know,” you mumur back, burrowing yourself deeper into his comfort, “but I’m not sad. Thank you Toji. Today has been the best birthday ever.” You stand on your tiptoes and press a sweet kiss to his cheek. “I love you.”
He stills, eyes widened slightly in surprise. You don’t make anything of it until the moment comes where you try and break free of his hold moments later and he doesn’t budge. Your brows furrow, and just as you’re about to ask him if he was okay, he cusses under his breath.
“Fuck it. Megumi can be the ring bearer.”
What he says doesn’t click until he gets down on one knee and pops open a small emerald green box, with a heart-shaped diamond ring nestled inside of it. Your mouth drops open and you feel eyes burn with more tears.
“[Name]—”
“What the actual fuck?”
You both laugh. Toji’s head drops as he sniggers at your foul language upon him getting on one knee; you laugh at yourself, at the reaction that came out of your lips faster than your brain could process.
“I don’t deserve you,” you whisper out, holding back a flood of tears.
“Nah, I’m the one that don’t deserve you. You’re fucking perfect. Who wouldn’t want you?”
You don’t deserve him, but he wants you anyway. Holy shit. This was really happening, wasn’t it? Were you about to say ‘yes’ and have a fiancé? Eventually become a married woman and help your to-be husband raise the sweetest, most adorable boy you’ve ever met? (It’s not like you aren’t already. You’ve heard him call you ‘Mama’ once through a phone call. Toji tried covering it up with a cough; you haven’t brought it up since.)
Toji clears his throat, regaining your attention. When you look down at him again though, he seems more nervous—all his moxie down the drain.
“So… Marry me?”
Your hands cup his cheeks and press your lips to his. He wraps his free arm around your waist, tilts his head to the side slightly and deepens the kiss.
You love him. You absolutely love him. There’s no doubt in your mind that you love him and your heart belongs to him. There’s no one but him by your side in the future you see. Every inch of you belongs to him, and he wants to belong to you just as much.
So, you pull from the kiss and whisper against his lips, “Let’s get married, baby.”
“Fuck yeah.”
You yell out in surprise as he picks you up with one big, strong arm and takes you inside. You wrap your legs around his waist in reaction, desperate to not fall.
But you know Toji wouldn’t ever let you fall. Not in a million years.
“Wanna go to the bedroom first?”
“You horny motherfucker.”
“Only for you.”
“Just put that ring on my finger and cook.”
He sets you on the counter like you’re porcelain. He takes the glimmering ring from the little box and slides it onto your ring finger. A perfect fit. You hadn’t even told him your ring size. His eyes are trained on it for several seconds before he mumbles, “Belongs right there.”
Whatever dessert he makes tonight, nothing will top this moment. This is the cherry on top to the sweetest birthday you’ve ever had. If whatever you went through was to get you here, to meet the man who’s the love of your life, you’d do it all over again.

Part 8 - Limits
Three months is not a long time. Not long enough for me to drink in the relationship that now was encompassing the vast majority of my life. I still had my job, my meetings, my daily walks with Angel…but everything else was Noah.
Nights watching movies with him. Days going to his house and just existing while he sat in his studio making music. Standing backstage at random pop up shows they did. Morning showers. Evening cuddles. Very late night sex. Sex all the time? Noah had an incredible sex drive and I was along for the ride.
But today, this truly horrific day, was his last day before he left again on tour. It was panic day. And I couldn’t get out of work. He leaves in the morning for Houston, and is absolutely losing his mind with anxiety.
My phone was going to vibrate off of my desk, so I slipped it into the top drawer and turned my attention back to the clients in front of me.
“I’m so sorry about that, where were we?”
The young couple sat in the chairs in front of my desk, their expression cool and positive. They radiated happiness, love. Jared and Sarah Miller, newlyweds, and visibly elated to be buying their first home. Sarah’s belly sat heavy in her lap, thirty-six weeks into her pregnancy with their first baby.
Their house was closing next week, so we needed to discuss what all needed to be done prior and run their one last statement check.
“You can take that, if you need Mileena. We don’t mind waiting.” Sarah smiled at me warmly, and I felt a tug in my chest when I heard my phone vibrate again.
“Oh, it’s fi-“ Before I could finish, it stopped vibrating, only to begin again half a second later. “Uhm…”
I opened my drawer, looking down to see Noah’s face flashing once again.
“I’m so sorry, it’s my boyfriend. It may be an emergency if he’s calling this much.”
Jared stood up. “No worries! We can run to the car and get Sarah’s snacks, if you don’t mind we eat in here?”
I shook my head. “Not at all! I’ll only be a second.”
“Take your time.” Sarah chirped before they walked out of the office, the door latching behind them.
I slid the newest call open. “Why aren’t you answering?! Are you dying?!”
I had to pull the phone from my ear due to the sheer volume of his voice. “Noah, I’m at work. Not dying.”
“Oh.” His voice calmed down instantly. “Good, because I almost got worried.”
I snorted. “Almost? You’ve called me like, a hundred times!”
He chuckled. “It’s panic day?” He said defensively.
“Panic day or not, babe. I’m with clients.”
“Fuck! I’m sorry. I should’ve known.”
I glanced at my computer screen to a new Teams message.
Sam: Saw your clients left. Wanna get lunch?
I cringed.
Me: They’re coming back. And no, eating in.
I saw the indication he was typing pop up, but disappear a moment later with no new message.
“Listen, babe,” I brought my attention back to Noah. “How about I go to your place after work? I can grab food on the way?”
“I really should focus.”
I laughed. “Cause you’re doing such a great job.”
“You’re right.”
“I’ll see you about six. Love you.”
“Love you too, babe.”
And we ended the call right as Jared and Sarah walked back in.
I smiled widely and took a breath. “Crisis averted. Now, let’s get you guys this house.”
-
I sat cross-legged on Noah’s bed, pulling potstickers from the paper box in my hand. Noah was chewing on his food while his fingers clacked at his keyboard, sending last minute emails to his tour manager.
Rick and Morty played on the television, and I idly watched it while letting him have his space. ‘Just having you here makes me feel more calm’ is what he told me, so I’m just existing, letting him have his panic in peace.
Noah had gone to my house this afternoon and picked up Angel after we talked, bringing him back to his place so I didn’t have to stop home after work. I was almost convinced he loved that dog more than me. I’m okay with that.
Noah turned, chow mein noodle hanging out of his lips. I chuckled at the sight, and he turned his lips up in a goofy smile. He slurped the noodle in his mouth and licked his lips. As silly as he is, he’s still absolutely breathtaking.
His muscle shirt showed his arms that were slowly becoming more defined every time I really looked at them. Noah had been filling free time he had going to Muay Thai and Boxing classes, trying to keep off any unnecessary pounds he may put on from his sugar intake. The results were becoming…difficult to not appreciate.
“You done?”
He nodded, leaning back in his chair. “I think so. Nothing left to do but sleep.”
I nodded, satisfied. “Good.” I glanced at my watch, noticing it was already seven-thirty. The first forty-five minutes of me being here was spent trying to calm the anxiety and help him find his favorite jacket that somehow ended up in Jolly’s laundry hamper.
“We’ve got to head out in about an hour.”
His lips turned down in a frown. “Why?”
“I’ve got work in the morning, and you’re leaving at 4 in the morning. You need sleep.”
“Nuh-uh.”
I raised my eyebrow at him. “Noah, unless you have a show, you can barely stay conscious past 10PM. You still have to shower.”
He shrugged. “Don’t care.”
“Mkay, well I care. Because I also have to shower and decompress before bed.” I stood off the bed and piled the empty food containers into the bag they came in, walking it over to the garbage can.
“Take this out tonight, or it’ll be awful when you get back.”
He just stared at me, a look I couldn’t quite place on his face. It made me shift my weight under me, unsure of how to react.
“What? Do I have soy sauce on me?” I wiped at my face, but he just shook his head.
“No.” He then sighed heavily. “We’re going to be gone longer this time.”
My heart pulled. He was right. He’d be gone two and a half months this time, which shouldn’t be long, right? Three months went by so fast…
“I know. But, I’ll be at the show here in October. And you’ll be home a week after that, just in time for your birthday.”
He chewed his bottom lip. I walked over to him, stopping directly in front of his chair.
“Then we’ll spend the holidays together.” I wrapped my arms around his neck, his head leaning into my chest, his arms swallowing my waist. “Christmas, New Year, Thanksgiving.”
He would be going back on tour at the end of January, so we had to take what we could get.
“Can’t you just come with me?”
I chuckled. “I wish, baby.”
I pulled my arms back, gripping either side of his neck to bring his face up to mine, placing a soft kiss on his lips. His arms tightened around me and a soft moan hummed out of him.
“Now,” I pulled my face back and pushed him back into his chair. “sit there quietly, and let me give you your parting gift.”
I sunk down to my knees and watched while he lifted his brows at me, narrowing his eyes.
“Since when do I do what you tell me?” His tone was apprehensive.
I gazed up at him through my lashes, doing my best to look innocent while my hands unzipped his jeans.
“Since I have something you want.” I very dramatically licked my lips, leaving excess saliva on my bottom lip for effect.
He pursed his lips, and gave a curt nod of his head.
“Fair enough.”
-
I was wrong. I was so wrong. Two-and a half months was crawling. I would assume it felt that way since it had only been two weeks, but it felt like a year.
I had just hung up the phone, Noah having to head into sound check. My lunch break was close to over, so I was already sitting behind my desk, scrolling through emails while I waited for my next client to make their appointment.
My desk phone chimed, and I grabbed the receiver.
“Kline Home Lending, this is Mileena?”
“Are you not logged in to Teams?” Sam’s voice was sharp on the other end.
“I’m on lunch. I haven’t taken Do Not Disturb off yet.”
“Lex wants to see us. Didn’t say why. We need to go now.”
I straightened my back and checked the time. I only had twenty minutes until my next appointment. That didn’t matter, though. When Lex called, you went. He was the President of Kline, and he didn’t make appearances often.
I shot my client a quick text to wait for me in the lobby if I wasn’t back as I walked down the hallway behind Sam toward Lex’s office.
“What do you think he wants?”
Same didn’t turn to respond. “Don’t know. He just asked to see us two.”
What could he possibly need? I kept my nose down, sold my loans, and kept it pushing. I didn’t make waves. Sam, on the other hand…
“Ah! Thank you both for coming on short notice. I won’t keep you too long.”
Sam and I each took a seat in front of Lex’s desk. Our boss, a tall, older man with white hair and his shirt unbuttoned the top two buttons, stood up and rounded the desk, leaning against it.
“I’m certain you don’t know why I’ve brought you here.” We both just nodded. “Right, well I’ll get straight to it.”
He went back to his chair, sitting down and waking his computer. “I assume you’re both familiar with Shamrock Lending?”
“Aren’t they the company that just declared bankruptcy?” I furrowed my brow, my question making him nod.
“Nearly. They’ve backed out of that.” Sam and I looked at each other inquisitively. “We’re absorbing them, including their employees and client base.”
“Why?” Sam sounded unamused.
“Shamrock maintained a prestigious client-base and had great word of mouth. The pandemic killed the business, and with them having been such a small company to begin with, it didn’t cost us much. And now we can retain their clientele, including their celebrity accounts.” He had his chin resting in his hands. “They sold Kelly Clarkson a house last year.”
Sam snorted. “So, what does that have to do with us?”
I had to forcibly not roll my eyes at his disrespectful attitude.
Lex looked intrigued, staring directly at Sam.
“I’m glad you asked, Samuel.” The sound of his full name made Sam visibly straighten. “We need to do something to boost morale for their employees. Shamrock was a family-owned company so most of their staff are…less than thrilled at coming over to Kline.”
“I could understand that.” I empathized.
“Exactly. So we are going to arrange for a company event, something to lighten the spirits. Eating, drinking, and overall merriment.” He pointed at us. “Oh, and live music! That always gets people excited.”
He stood again. “I need you both to organize it. You’re my top performers, so I trust you both to be able to arrange something within the next week or so.”
My eyes widened. We had to what?!
“With all due respect sir, but when you say organize?”
“Find a venue, get catering, hire a band, all that jazz.”
“My family has an estate on a vineyard in Escondido. Perfect for this.” Sam was now smiling confidently. Kiss ass.
Lex snapped. “Wonderful! We need this ready happen by the end of September. The merge is effective as of October 1st.”
I’m so fucked.
-
The following seven days had been a blur. A long, exhausting, frustrating blur. I had to reschedule so many appointments so Sam and I could work on the event.
Venue was no issue, but we needed catering, entertainment, staff, decorations, which is what Sam and I were currently arguing over.
The amount of arguing we had done over the last week had drained everything out of me. Spending this much time with him was absolutely ungodly. He was so difficult to tolerate, his bravado and over enthusiastic flirting got so far under my skin I could feel it in my bones.
“We need a theme!”
“It’s not junior prom, Sam! We don’t need casino night!”
He scoffed, pacing over the floor in my office while I sat, my fingertips rubbing my temples.
“So it’s just a ‘Hey we get you hate us, but get drunk and have salmon’ party?!’
We were interrupted by the door opening, Chrissy, the janitor, coming to clean my office.
“Oh! I’m sorry. I thought you guys were gone.” She backed out and closed the door.
“Jesus Christ, what time is it?” I checked my watch. “Ugh, it’s already seven. I’ve got to go.”
“No, no, we need to finish this. The event is in three days.” He pulled his phone out. “I’m ordering some pizza.”
I stood up in protest. “As fun as that sounds, I’ve got to go walk my dog. Or he’ll piss in the house.”
He locked his phone and gave me a disgusting grin. “No worries, we can just finish at your place.”
My face must have mimicked my disdain because he only smiled wider. I groaned and sat back down.
“Fine. Let’s just finish it.”
I finally swung my front door open at 9PM, exhaustion and agitation fueling me the entire ride home. Angel met me at the door, eyes big, obviously concerned for my whereabouts. He's never left alone quite this long, more so these last few months with Noah picking him up nearly every day.
"Hey baby." He barked in response while I kicked my heels off. "I'm so sorry I was gone so long."
He ran to the back door in response. I dropped my bag right there on the floor, slipping my slides on and striding to let Angel out.
I stepped outside with him, watching as he disappeared near the trees in the corner of the yard, undoubtedly relieving himself. I stayed on the wooden porch, flopping down into the wooden chair at the table. I slipped a single cigarette out of the pack next to the ashtray and lit the end with a match. I didn't indulge in my nicotine habit often, only in times of severe stress. I bought a pack the day I learned of the event and had smoked one each night after work.
I hadn't told Noah that.
This reminded me that I hadn't heard from him all day. I slipped my phone out of my pocket, taking a long drag from my smoke.
I pressed call as soon as I found his name in my recent list, noticing our last phone call was yesterday afternoon. We hadn't talked hardly at all since Sunday, when the shows became more frequent and my work started taking up all my damn time. Our nightly calls had been skipped a few times now, and we mostly communicated over text. Until now, I hadn't noticed how badly I missed him until I saw his contact photo show up when the phone rang; a picture of him sleeping, Angel stretched out over his stomach, snoozing comfortably on my bed.
I put the phone on speaker and set it on the table, leaning back in my chair.
"Hello?" His voice that came through was loud. There was a ton of background noise and voices. There was also some kind of music. Music I didn't recognize - heavy bass drums, some kind of high-pitched synth, with rhythmic reverb. Club music?
"Hey babe. What're you doing?" I could hear shuffling on the other end.
"What?" He couldn't hear me. "Hang on, babe. One sec." The phone then went completely silent, evidently muted.
After a few moments, I could hear sound again, but it was much quieter. "Hey babe, I'm sorry. I couldn't hear shit in there."
"What are you doing?" My voice was sharp, which I wasn't sure if it was due to me being wildly suspicious all of a sudden, or the frustration bleeding over from work.
"Oh, uh, after the show the guys wanted to stop off at this place on our way back to the hotel." His voice sounded intentionally nonchalant.
"What kind of place?"
He was quiet. Too fucking quiet.
"Babe, don't freak out." He sighed heavily. "It's a bar, and look-"
"You're at a fucking bar?!" I stood up, dropping my cigarette into the ashtray.
"Babe, please don't yell at me." I squeezed my eyes shut and pinched the bridge of my nose, forcibly evening out my voice.
"Noah, why the hell are you at a bar?" I said through gritted teeth.
"It's one of the guys' in ERRA's birthday tonight. We're just here to celebrate. I'm going to be fine." He was annoyed, I could hear it. I was 'sponsor'-ing him, but I didn't fucking care.
"Please don't drink, Noah." He groaned.
"I won't, Leena." His voice was slightly venomous. This bothered me. How could he not understand why I was upset by this? It was a valid fucking reason to be upset. He was right on top of earning his 6-month chip.
"Good. Because I swear to God, I will snatch those chips away from you so fucking fast."
He didn't even breathe. "Nick is here. He'll keep me straight."
"He's not drinking?"
"No."
"Okay." I sat back down.
"I'll call you when I get back to the hotel and after I shower."
"Okay." I picked my cigarette back up. "I love you."
"Love you too." Click. My heart tugged. It felt wrong.
When he finally called me, I was already half asleep. I had showered, finished getting ready for bed, and began fading while watching Supernatural. It was typically unheard of for me to pass out so early, but I was positively exhausted.
My phone began singing next to my face, and I moaned in defeat. I just wanted to be unconscious.
"Hey." My voice was thick with sleep.
"Hey, were you sleeping?" His voice sounded pretty sleepy too. It was past his bedtime.
"I was, but I'm fine." I sat up in bed. I ran a hand over Angel, who was now sound asleep in Noah's spot on my bed.
"Mmm. How was your day?"
I leaned back on my pillows, yawning. "It was long. Had to stay late again."
"With Sam?"
This made me snap to attention. The bite in his tone startled me. "Yeah, unfortunately."
"Hmm." He was making a lot of humming noises tonight. "Been spending a lot of time with him, yeah?"
You're fucking kidding. Noah was not getting jealous...of Shithead Sam?!
"Not voluntarily. We just had to get this event worked out."
"And did you?" He was still so serious. Nothing like what I was used to with Noah.
"Yes." My words were slow, still in disbelief at his attitude. "The event is on Saturday over in the valley. I'll be driving down there Saturday morning to make sure it gets set up."
"Well, I'm sure he'll meet you there."
I had about enough.
"Noah, what's your problem?" I was serious now, over whatever bullshit game it was he was playing.
"I don't have one." He paused. "Do you?"
Is he instigating an argument? "I didn't think so, but you're acting weird." I sighed. "I don't like it."
I heard him breathe, a sigh, maybe? "I'm sorry."
I didn't respond.
"I don't know, I just don't like that guy."
I sat up, pausing the television. "I know you don't. Neither do I. But why be rude to me over it?"
"Well, you spending so much time with him bothers me."
"...and?" I furrowed my brow, bewildered. "I can't help that we got put on this project together."
He snickered. "I mean..." He trailed off.
"What?" I dared him.
"You could have said no."
My jaw dropped. Was he for fucking real? "How do you figure? The President of the company I work for tells me to organize an event, and I just...what? Decline?"
"Pretty much."
I shook my head, absolutely flabbergasted. "Are you fucking joking?" My voice was raised.
"I asked you not to yell at me."
I swung my legs over the bed and began pacing. "Well, that's hard to do when you're acting like this."
"Like what?" His voice was so even, so calm. It was getting under my skin.
"Like a jealous boyfriend!"
He was silent for a minute. "Am I not?"
"Oh my fucking God, Noah! You have nothing to be jealous about!" I was now laughing, but not because it was funny, but because it was so ridiculous. "The guy is fucking putrid!"
"So I've heard." That evenness in his tone was going to kill me, or get him killed if I get my hands on him. I knew that bullshit. It was manipulative, which up until this point, I didn't think Noah was. He had never acted like this before.
"Noah, you don't fucking get it. He's the opposite of attractive. He reminds me of my ex." I had never admitted that before, to him or myself. I didn't think about him often.
"Right, yeah. The ex-boyfriend you never want to talk about. Got it." There was a slight inflection in his voice. Good. At least I know he isn't a robot.
He was just a fucking asshole.
My voice was calm now, still as standing fucking water. "That's correct."
"Leaves me with lots of questions, Mileena."
Who the fuck was this douchebag on the phone with me? What piece of garbage was I talking to? It wasn't Noah. Not my Noah.
"I'm hanging up." My hand was shaking now.
"Sure, yeah, ignore the problem." He was getting worked up. I couldn't tell if that was better or worse.
"No, I'm just not letting this go any further." I took a breath to keep voice even. "You should get some rest."
"No, c'mon, let's talk about it! You always want to know about me and my fucking skeletons in the closet! Where's yours? What's the big fucking secret? Why do I have to pull fucking teeth to get you to fucking talk about your ex? Or your drinking? Or anything fucking personal?!" He was full-blown screaming now, and I was frozen solid.
He wasn't wrong. I always avoided talking about Jeremy, at all God damn costs. He enabled my drinking, he set back my sobriety, and that was the mild stuff.
"Noah...please stop." My voice was cracking now.
"Whatever. So much for a trusting fucking relationship."
That was it. That broke the dam. That sent me spiraling.
"Are you fucking KIDDING me?! You call me, start a fucking fight, and then have the audacity to say I can't be trusted you fucking bastard?! Why? Because I don't want to talk about the asshole that drove me to drink because he was abusing me so badly?! Who slapped me around so much that only the alcohol made it bearable?! Back when I tried to kill myself, couldn't because I was so God damn drunk, and ended up going back to him because he convinced me no one else would ever love me?!"
I couldn't stop. He flipped the switch and you can't just undo that.
"Fuck you, Noah! Fuck you and your bullshit jealousy and trust issues!" Tears were streaming down my face, blurring my vision. Somewhere, I felt Angel's nose pressing into the side of my leg. "Now go the fuck to sleep before I tell you to go to hell instead!"
I ended the call, before he could respond. My shaky hands frantically turned my phone off before I could receive a text or a call back.
-
I had put my phone on vibrate all day Friday, spending the majority of the day in my bed sulking. I didn't want to talk to anyone; Laura, my Dad, most importantly, Noah. Anytime I thought about it, I started crying. I laid in bed, only getting up to let Angel out and get snacks from the kitchen. I laid in bed, watching comedy movies to try and relieve my mind.
It wasn't until I woke up Saturday morning that I finally read all of the missed texts.
The night of the fight:
Noah: Leena I'm such a fcking asshole. I'm sorry. Pleese call me back.
Noah: Babe I don't even know what got into m please.
Noah: Yourr phone is going straigt to voicemail. I guess you turned it off. I'm going to sleep now. I love you. Call me please?
Friday morning:
Noah: Is your phone back on?
Noah: Guess not.
Noah: Leena, please call me. I feel sick thinking about how dumb I was being. I promise I will never do that again. I swear. Please just respond to me.
Nick: Leena, Noah won't stop asking me to text you. Please call him.
Noah: I'm about to cancel the show tonight and fly home. Please Leena.
Noah: Nick said I can't cancel the show. Too short notice. Please call me. I need to hear your voice.
Friday evening:
Noah: Look, I've tried really hard to be patient but I'm starting to freak out. Babe, please. I was stupid. I will never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever do anything like that again. I have no idea what got into me.
Noah: I'm going to quit texting now. I'm sorry. I can't tell you how sorry. Call me when you're ready. I love you so much, more than you'll ever know Leena. Always.
I sighed hard. I wasn't angry anymore, mostly just hurt. I really wanted Noah to be different, but after the way he was talking, it was hard to believe. Nothing made sense. In five months, he had not spoken like that to me at all. He was always so laid back, even about things that bothered him.
Something was wrong. Something was different.
Unfortunately, I didn't have time to ponder it, as I had to get ready to drive to Escondido and get this hellscape of a day over with.
I decided to send him a response, but not give too much.
Me: I love you too. We'll talk tonight. Have a good show.
-
All things considered, the vineyard was absolutely stunning. The event was exactly how we planned, music elegant but still upbeat. The food was high-class, Kline sparing no expense. People were swaying and mingling, their drinks from the open bar settling nicely into their systems.
I was stood on a hill just out of sight of the happenings down by the massive estate home, overlooking the winery. Vines upon vines of grapes grew, causing such an incredible landscape while the sun began to set over the hills. It soothed the ache in my soul.
I heard footsteps approaching behind me, and gauging the weight of them, I rolled my eyes, knowing my moment was spoiled.
"Too good for the party?" I sighed. Sam's voice was the same as always, condescending and arrogant.
I turned, my long, olive green dress twisting at the skirt. "Nope, just taking a breather."
"Is it hard? Being around people drinking?" For once, he didn't sound like he was being judgmental, and it caught me off guard.
I shook my head lightly. "No. Not really anymore."
He nodded, standing next to me with his hands in his pockets.
"Hell of a view."
I shrugged. "It is."
He nudged my shoulder, gesturing over to a stable to his left. "Want to go see the horses?"
I smirked. "I'm okay, thank you."
He narrowed his eyes at me playfully. "C'mon, girl. Everyone loves horses!"
I chuckled. I contemplated this for a moment. I do love horses, having ridden many when I was younger.
Sam began stalking toward the barn, waving me along. "Just for a minute. You'll love them!"
I rolled my eyes, but still, I stomped after him, my heels nearly sinking into the grass beneath me.
He pulled the door open, the familiar smell of hay and feed hitting me in the nostrils. It was a comforting smell, reminding me of the horses my Dad helped tend when I was a little girl.
He walked into one of the stalls. "This one," he pulled on a rein, a stunning black horse peering out of the stall. I was drawn, walking up to her and smiling. "is mine. Her name is Onyx."
Her large nose pressed into my hand. I ran a hand up her face, reveling in the feel of her silky fur.
"She's amazing." I was in awe.
"Yeah, she's a good girl. Rides like a champ." I nodded.
"I'll bet she does." I backed away from her, peering over at Sam.
"You want to see another?" I nodded, a soft smile on my face.
He waved me down the stable, opening a stall at the end. "Come on."
I didn't see a horse, but I stepped in front of the door, confused. Sam was gone, and the stall was empty. I took a step forward just beyond the door, puzzled.
"Sam?"
It was at that exact second, a hand clapped over my mouth from behind, and a large, thick arm came to snake around me around the waist, holding my arms down to my sides and pulling me in close.
Sam had me pinned, his body pressed against my back, as I began writhing and struggling beneath him. Oh no. No, no, no, no.
I struggled as hard as I could, working my arms around in an attempt to get free. I felt his breath on the side of my face, his voice low and hushed.
"Shh, hang on there, girl. Wouldn't want anyone to know we're in here." I screamed against his hand, forcing him to clamp down harder, giving the feeling that my jaw may break.
Please, fucking, please, no.
"You've been playing this 'hard to get' bullshit for so long. It was about time we finally made it happen, huh?"
His hand over my mouth slid down to my neck, squeezing so tight that my vision began turning fuzzy.
I choked hard, trying like hell to get words out. "S-Sam, please, d-don't."
He had turned us around, pushing me against the wall of the stable. His hand that wasn't holding my throat was roaming up my skirt, his giant palm under my dress and tugging at my underwear. I thrashed again, trying like hell to get an inch so I could slip out of his grasp. It was futile. He had me, I was trapped.
I felt his fingers slipping into the hem of my panties, sneaking underneath. His hands violated me, making hot tears pour out of my eyes. I squeezed them shut, trying to just focus on having enough air to stay conscious. If I pass out, it's over.
I ignored his hands on me, and focused. His feet. His feet were the only shot I had.
I shifted my weight onto my other leg, realizing his was immediately behind mine, using both legs to keep mine spread.
I lifted my foot, and with as much force as I could muster, I jammed my heel into top of his foot, causing him to jump back, his hands releasing me at once. Without hesitation, once my arms were free, I reached my elbow back, connecting it with his face. I felt something crunch beneath my arm, but I didn't care.
As soon as he was no longer on top of me, I ran. I booked straight out of the barn, my vision slowly returning.
I was running back toward the party, up the hill. That's when I stopped. My dress was ripped on the strap, my hair was tangled up, and my makeup had to be running down my face. I was a mess. I looked insane.
I had to get the hell out.
I began sprinting to the parking lot, passing several people on my way but not stopping. I ran to my car that, thankfully, I had left unlocked, keys in the visor. I turned the engine over and tore out of the parking lot.
I didn't care that I blew past multiple stop signs. I pulled onto the interstate and drove. I drove until I couldn't see the winery behind me. Until I could barely see at all because my eyes were watering so badly. My breathing was so sporadic. My hands were screaming with how tight I had been gripping the steering wheel.
I finally snapped out of my state, realizing I needed to stop.
I pulled off on the next exit, finding a rest stop just off the highway and pulled into the parking lot. I sat there, staring out of the windshield, tears streaming, trying to calm my breathing.
It took me a moment to realize I had stopped, and for my brain to begin functioning again.
I picked up my phone, opening it and ignoring texts and missed calls and going straight to my contacts.
I pressed 'Call' and waited for the line to pick up.
"Hey babes, what's up?" Laura's voice rang through the line.
"I need help."

Did Serena and Shadowheart follow the same romantic arc as in the game (first kiss at the party, making things official after Gauntlet, first time at the beach, etc)? Or did it go entirely differently? Who fell first for the other? How did the other companions react? We know there have been a few "bumps" here and there, like the life expectancy talk, or Shads just being a gremlin early on lmao, but how are things between them overall (before full domesticity life at the cottage, which they 100% deserve 😭)?
I love them both so much and i'm simply obsessed with how you write them, thank you for sharing that with us 🙏🙏
AHHH THANK YOU SO MUCH 💕 I put a lot of love into writing them, I’m THRILLED you love them too!! 🥰 thank you for the sweet words, week made!!!
For ease of reading (bc damn I started and did NOT shut up lol), I’ll detail their journey under the cut: (with a few screenies) 😊
I used the game’s romantic arc to structure the basis of their relationship- so all these events did happen, though I’ve messed with the timeline a little.
-their relationship is contentious at first. When Serena finds out she’s a worshipper of Shar- it’s obviously a little jarring, despite the honesty. She trusts Shadowheart about as much as Astarion, fangs and all. Shadowheart (besides being a gremlin in general at first lol) thinks Serena is probably the easiest to manipulate in the group (her other options are Astarion and Lae’zel- and those are non starters). She mistakes Serena’s kindness for naivety, I think. Serena is…exhausted by all these…unique…personalities 💀 she has a worm in her head and a very opinionated Sharran in her ear
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-Still, they exchange some not so subtle stares at camp, their first couple of evenings together. Shadowheart pretends not to look at Tav when she insists on sparring with Lae’zel to stay sharp. Tav pretends not to look when Shadowheart comes out in her haute couture Sharran full body lingerie 😭 they both fail miserably!! The constant thirsting/staring game begins!!
-I actually think Shadowheart falls first. She intended to simply use Tav to get rid of the worm. She didn’t count on Tav being so…good 🫠
-When Astarion bites Tav- it’s Shadowheart who reacts most viscerally. Everyone thinks it’s just her threatening to stake a vampire for her own safety, but…she’s jealous!!!
-when they meet Wyll, (not the first time for Tav!)- he accidentally outs her as a member of one of the patriar families of Baldur’s Gate. He’s happy to see a familiar face, but…Cue the ridicule from those who think she’s a soft ass noble playing dress up as a knight. Shadowheart and some of the others are downright mean about it. Still, Shadowheart takes note of her prowess during the fight outside the grove. She’s interested, now. Then Tav goes on to give all she has to the Tiefling kids and joins Wyll on teaching them to fight. Shadowheart starts to see her priorities and…likes them secretly 😭
-They find themselves drawn to each other, regardless. When Shadowheart shows true fear before a wolf, it’s Tav who steps in front of her and gently tugs her away. During long walks, she and Tav often find themselves side by side. Tav doesn’t pry- but her stoicism fades with time. She tells Shadowheart little stories of her time in Cormyr. Shadowheart, in turn, begins to confide in her. They sit together at the camp fire. They don’t touch, just yet. But the longing is building. Still, Shadowheart isn’t afraid to let her hear it when she disagrees- and boy, do they squabble.
-Shadowheart doesn’t intervene when Tav is whipped for Loviatar’s blessing or w/e- like I mentioned before, that breeds resentment. Tav is getting whiplash from Shadowheart. Sometimes she’s so sweet, so soft…and then she reverts back to cruelty, taking pleasure in others’ pain. She heals Tav’s wounds, and feels guilty. She’s realizing Tav is not a simple amusement, to be discarded right after use. She has…real feelings for her 😅 she’s drawn to Tav’s kindness and wants to return the favor, and this puts her at odds with Shar’s teachings
-The party is still their first kiss and first “date” if you will. Shadowheart plays coy but appreciates Serena remembering so much about her. She’s…touched, as much as she is attracted.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-At this point, they’re something of a fledgling couple. The group knows, of course- but Shadowheart does NOT entertain Tav publicly. They’re flirting, stealing kisses behind tents, taking long walks together at night, anything away from prying eyes. Shadowheart doesn’t want anybody questioning her faith…Shar included. Still, Shadowheart wants Tav all to herself. She doesn’t like when the other members of the group cozy up to her. She’s conflicted.
-the push into the Shadow Cursed lands puts a little distance between them. When Shadowheart is all ecstatic about Shar protecting her from the curse, Serena points out that she isn’t protected, along with the others. Shads hits her with “you’re resourceful, you’ll figure it out” 😅. That hurts, a lot- given their new relationship. her obsession with Shar frightens Tav to an extent, but she understands Shadowheart is indoctrinated. It’s hard to reconcile how sweet she is in one moment , with how cruel she can be in the next. Tav tells Shadowheart she feels her pulling away. Shadowheart agrees.
-The trials and their conclusion absolutely wreck Shadowheart, of course. Shar has abandoned her. In her hour of need, at her lowest point- Tav tells her how proud she is 🥹💕 she swears to Shadowheart that she may not have Shar, but she will always have her, if that’s what she wants. Shadowheart hasn’t known unconditional love like this before. She wants Tav fully, she’s tired of denying herself happiness.
-The night on the beach is their first time sleeping together. I considered changing this in the timeline- but I think it works beautifully. Shadowheart is genuinely frightened to be swimming- she would only do that with someone she was truly in love with.
-from there, they’re quite public about their relationship. Shadowheart changes her look to reflect her new lot in life. Tav adores it, adores her. Shadowheart softens. It’s a lot more domestic and sweet. This would pretty much put them around the beginning of act 3, give or take! Tav risks everything with Shadowheart to get her parents back. Things are really looking up for them 🥰
This brings us to the point where the NLS series picks up!

Omg I got 2 scenarios
1) what if Ivan (yan!gamer) and reader knew eachother irl? Like reader is like gushing about this new player whos super nice and talking about their fun experiences with them and Ivan knows theyre talking about him but he still doesn’t have enough confidence to tell reader its him cause it might make things awkward?
2) its similar to the first one but instead of reader gushing about Ivan, its another player? Like Ivan overhears reader talk about this sweet person who likes the same things as them and is always flirty, funny and overall just a fun person to be with? Then ivan gets jealous and stuff?
going w number 2 because i <3 jealous ppl ,, changed ur ask just a teensy winsy bit ,, also not proofread
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥
it had become basically a routine now since you’ve got a new best friend - ivan.
everyday at a certain time of day, like clockwork, you’d call him and play a few games with him while talking about your day.
you really enjoyed this part of your day .. you might even say it’s your favorite part of the day - but do you know who enjoyed your little gaming/chatting sessions even more?
ivan.
every single day he’d sit at his gaming chair just staring at his pc. his leg would bounce at a fast speed while he picked at the skin around his fingers, waiting for your message.
his heart feels like it’s going to burst out of his chest when a ‘ding!’ comes from his pc.
“hi !! i’m home now :))) wanna call and play ????”
ivan types so fast he misspells, “yws plessee”, as he hits the call button before the message can even finish sending.
you answer almost as fast as he called god his heart fluttered .. you must be just as excited to talk to him as he is to talk to you !!!! and he even though he’s heard your voice a million times ivan will never, ever get sick of it.
the call’s usually always begin the same, you guys say a quick ‘hello’ and decide what game to play then take turns talking about your days, but this call is different.
ivan can tell just from your voice what your feeling; no matter how good you are at hiding it, and today you clearly aren’t doing a good job masking the giddiness in your voice.
he can practically hear the way your trying to bite back the smile he just knows is on your lips. it makes ivan happy, too.
he smiles, “c’mon, what’s got you so happy today?” ivan asks.
you respond with a coy “nothing!” but ivan isn’t fooled. god, you’re so cute. what has you acting this way?
“i’m not stupid, y/n,” ivan says back, “tell me? pleaseee?” he begs. you roll your eyes at this and let out a laugh, unable to bite back your smile.
“okay, okay! i’ll tell you …” you take a moment to gather your words.
“there’s this person ..”
ivan’s smile drops.
“.. and their just ..”
his heart stops fluttering.
“… so amazing.”
his heart shatters.
all of a sudden, ivan isn’t so happy you’re happy. what the fuck do you mean “there’s this person” ? the happiness ivan felt before has now turned into red-hot anger and the butterflies that were once fluttering lively in his stomach have now turned into rage-filled locusts that are trying to tear their way out of his throat.
he’s so angry about this person that he hasn’t even noticed that you were waiting for his response.
“ivan? ivan, are you there?” your voice snaps him back into reality.
“.. huh? oh, sorry! my discord has been so glitchy today.” ivan lies through gritted teeth. “you said something about a person, right? tell me more about them!”
at this you go on and on about this person you’ve been talking too lately- about how their so sweet, funny, and just oh-so fun to be around! is he not enough for you? - and as outraged as ivan is, and how bad he just feels like breaking something .. or, better yet, tracking down that pathetic, sorry, low-life bastard that he can’t even find the words to describe, and give them what they deserve, atleast, on the bright side, the more you talk about this person, the more he knows about them.
and the sooner he can deal with this home-wrecker.

do u have any recs for folks newer to the yuri genre? I've never really read any manga other than shounen and some magical girl stuff
Omg i can totally give yuri recs. (And which ones to stay away from. Sakura Kiss has cousin shit in it, Citrus has stepsister dubcon, Dragon Maid has lolicon, Happy Sugar Life is also lolicon but it’s edgy about it and tries to act like this makes it deep, we can do better)
Anyway here’s my actual recs! I'm going to give details but if you don't wanna read them I bolded all the titles.
YuriKuma Arashi (By Ikuhara of Revolutionary Girl Utena fame), is about lesbian bears. But it’s actually a metaphor for the simultaneous objectification and demonization of lesbians, the expectation both for purity and predation. There are some nitpicks I have with it like the sexualization being a bit too much to bring the point home, but overall I do like its themes and its message. And I think the ending pulls everything together really nicely. There is both a manga and an anime, and I believe the anime came first. I’ve only seen the anime so I’m not sure if/how the manga deviates!!!!
Bloom Into You is an absolute must. Like, for real, I think it’s one of the best romances out there, yuri or otherwise. It gets really deep into both characters' respective psyches and the ways that they’re both Very Screwed Up when it comes to love and romance, or really just life in general. Giving details would be doing them a disservice honestly. Both characters are very messy but also do try their best to genuinely communicate, and what comes of that is a lot of teenage lesbian drama, but the growth they both experience though it TOGETHER is just great, and you can tell they care about each other so much.
Okay this one I’m not really recommending for the good writing, it’s more-so just really cool. Liberta (EXPLICIT) is a series about a vampire who can turn her body into guns and a human woman who is sick of being seen as lesser in her ordinary life. And then they fall in love and are vampires together. The artstyle and character designs are awesome and it has some really cool fight scenes. However it also has full blown barely censored sex scenes. A few of them. One of the women uses her tail at some point. If that’s not what your cup of tea is, give it a pass.
Anyway for something more wholesome you should check out The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn't a Guy at All, which I’m actually not fully caught up on bc life, but has still been a super fun read so far. It’s about a girl who works at a music store, and her classmate who gets a crush on her while she’s at work. The classmate doesn’t realize that they’re the same person, due to her looking different at work, and thinks her worksona is a guy. Hijinks ensue.
Otherside Picnic is also highly recommended. Its manga adaptation is lagging behind the light novel, which I can’t find a translation of online (But if anyone can help me out w that 🙏). The story itself is about two college students who go on adventures to a parallel plane of reality, which contains cosmic horrors who can only communicate with humans through fear so intense it will make you go insane. They’re also looking for someone who went missing, and gain cool powers like Ghost Hand and Sans Eye. Yes this is still a yuri series and it’s also really really extremely fucking cool.
She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat, is a slice of life story about… Well exactly what it says. A woman with a passion for cooking, making lots of food and sharing it with her neighbor, and they end up bonding through this. It’s also like, cool to see a big butch woman for a change! The story itself is very straightforward but I love watching the relationship progress as well as the mc question her sexuality. This story will absolutely make you super hungry though.
Show Me Your Bust (EXPLICIT) is also exactly what it says on the tin, though it’s technically a webtoon. Again this is a series with explicit sex scenes, but it actually does have a story and actual depth to its characters. Honestly there’s a lot to unpack with all of them and a lot of the relationships aren’t totally healthy but it’s a drama so that’s the point.
A Monster Wants To Eat Me is actually hard to describe without spoilers. It’s about a girl who lives by the sea, meeting a mysterious girl with eyes that remind her of the ocean itself. The girl says that she’s actually been looking for the mc for a long time, and it’s revealed that….
And lastly I wanna mention Hanamonogatari, a story about an old widow who begins to regain confidence in herself as she experiments with make-up with the help of another old lady who works at a local cosmetic store. Honestly it’s very very very sweet, it’s rare to get romances like this of old women when so much of the focus of romances (yuri or otherwise) is often on the characters being attractive. I also really appreciate how the make-up is being used specifically to accentuate their wrinkles. Not hide them. Because aging is beautiful too. Sadly IVE ONLY READ TWO CHAPTERS BECAUSE I DONT THINK THE REST ARE TRANSLATED IF ANYONE OUT THERE CAN HELP ME PLEASE DO 🙏

Sub!Yandere Shigaraki x Reader WIP
Ngl this has been in the draft phase for a long time, but hopefully it will see the light of day as a complete work at some point lmao
Basic summary: Shiggy locked you up in a house (surprise) and your not very happy being removed from your daily life w/o warning (surprise). Shigaraki is pretty mellowed out in this one; more on the angsty emo teen side vs angry emo teen side
-----------------------------
“Stop,” you commanded him, your voice still raspy from yelling at the top of your lungs not that long ago. You had lifted your head with your eyes trained on him, like slits, watching his every muscle tense as he obeyed your command. He looked somewhat surprised, you noted, likely due to the fact that this was the first thing you had said to him at a somewhat normal volume in over a week. You watched him shift uncomfortably as he dug his hands into his pockets to avoid scratching at his neck, and nervously glanced around the room before finally settling his eyes on one of the few empty spots on the floor.
“Um,” Shigaraki began as he attempted to carry a conversation with you..
“You have some nerve trying to talk to me after everything you’ve done.” you cut him off barely above a whisper. Shigaraki closed his eyes and winced. He took a few deep breaths before slowly opening his eyes and moving them towards your face.
“I know..I know, I’m so sorry, I-” the heated look in your eyes told him to shut up.
“If you’re really sorry then…”. You didn’t have to continue your sentence for him to catch your meaning. He’d heard it from you at least 10 times a day, and was familiar with hearing it at night in his dreams (or nightmares). At this point, it was practically an inside greeting between the two of you; Shigaraki apologizes for locking you up in some random house and you order him to let you leave...
SMUT SNIPPET BELOW CUT
By now you’ve noticed that your ministrations have started to affect him in a not so innocent way, confirming a few theories that you’ve had based on how he’s reacted to certain behaviors in the past. The way he would go completely red after you casually joked about running your hands through his wild hair, or the way his eyes would briefly flash a heated look after you teasingly called him a cute nickname. You try to contain a tiny smirk, still having some sense of awareness to hold you back. Given the overall seriousness of the situation, enjoying yourself like this seems highly inappropriate and a bit messed up even but, those are thoughts to file away for later.
You turn your attention back to the shaking boy kneeling next to your bed. It seems like he’s attempting to stifle his noises and contain his reactions, but he’s not doing the best job. Quiet whines and squeaks are managing to slip through, and it looks like he’s trying to rock his hips into the side of the bed. This time, you let yourself grin a bit sadistically and tug on his ear. Shigaraki attempts (and fails) to shove his face further into the mattress before anything else slips out, but an obscene moan still reaches your ears despite his efforts. You think to yourself a bit and decide to move your hand back towards the top of his head and lightly pet him for a few seconds, before grabbing a small handful of hair and tugging his head back, a bit more harshly than you did on his ear.
This time, there’s nothing blocking his face to help stifle his noises and he involuntarily lets out the most pornographic noise you’ve heard from him yet. You let your eyes focus on his expression. His face is burning red, eyes glassy and unfocused, and there's a thick trail of drool running down the side of his chin, no doubt having left a wet spot on the side of the mattress. You glance down towards his lap. As expected, there’s a prominent bulge emerging from his pants, with the tip showing a clear dark spot. You use the leverage you have on Shigaraki’s hand to pull his face closer to yours, unintentionally prompting another whine to slip out.

For the date ideas post, may I slip a note under your door that says Idikei? K bye! 🏃‍♀️
HELLO. this ended up being way longer than i planned initially JFKDLSJKLF sorry it took forever but also THANK YOU for the suggestion i LOVE IDIKEI i'm so glad i had reason to make myself sit and write for them!
This was written as a prompt from this post! I asked for someone to suggest a ship, and I would randomly draw numbers for the rest of the categories. I pulled:
Date type: Wedding date
Date idea: Getting ice cream[x] and strolling through a park
How the date is going: Super romantic
I may have taken some liberties with the prompts LOL but the overall vibe is there.
[Ao3 Link]
Title: Blue Raspberry Mango
Word Count: 5,224
Rating: G
Summary: Idia absolutely cannot show up to Azul's wedding while he's still single. Can you IMAGINE the obnoxious gloating he'd have to endure? Good thing his best buddy Cater Diamond is willing to help him avoid such a perilous fate!
“Oh my god, Trey,” Cater sighed between bites of risotto, “No one does it like you! I miss your cooking SO much!”
“Cater, don’t talk with your mouth full,” Riddle chided from across the table, but smiled nonetheless. “I suppose that means you’ll just have to come visit us more often, doesn’t it?”
“You know our door is always open for you,” Trey agreed.
“Provided you call first,” Riddle added. “It’s good manners.”
Cater laughed. He was glad his job in photography allowed him to travel around and ultimately landed him in the Queendom of Roses for most of his work. He’d never expected that he’d see so much of his old friends after graduation  and yet… Here he was, years later, sitting at the dinner table with two of his best friends in the entire world.
“Ooh, speaking of getting together for some mingle time,” Cater said, a grin spreading wide across his face as he spoke. “Did you guys get the invite to Jamil and Azul’s wedding!?”
“We did.” Trey stood for a moment to step into the living room, returning shortly with a familiar card that he placed on the table. “Riddle already sent our RSVP, of course. You’re going too, I assume?”
“So punctual!” Cater winked at Riddle, then nodded. “And OBVI. Cay-Cay’s not about to miss a once in a lifetime event like this! Idia says Azul’s inviting practically everyone from our NRC days. Something about wanting to ‘flaunt his happy marriage to everyone that doubted him,’ or something like that. You know how Azul loves his theatrics.”
“Ugh, yes,” Riddle scrunched up his nose, “I’m sure Azul will love reminding me - again - how he and Jamil managed to schedule a wedding before Trey and I have.”
Trey chuckled, pressing a kiss to the top of Riddle’s head on his way back into the kitchen to retrieve dessert. “You know it’s not a competition.”
“It is to Azul, and he certainly believes he’s winning,” Riddle sighed, but then turned his focus back to Cater. “And how is Idia doing? I imagine you’re one of the few that he willingly keeps in contact with from NRC these days, yes?”
Cater nodded, a sense of pride filling in his chest at the acknowledgement that Cater was, in fact, one of the rare people Idia spent time talking with. On PURPOSE, even! “I sure am! He’s chill doin’ his thing over at S.T.Y.X. with Ortho. He still games with Lils on the ‘reg, and I think he and Azul do these, like, speedy flash matches on Chess.com? I don’t know if they even talk to each other. I think they just like the thrill of trying to digitally kill each other or whatever.”
Still, gaming and asserting dominance over virtual board games was practically the social pinnacle when it came to Idia Shroud.
Riddle raised a curious eyebrow. “Chess… Dot com…?”
Cater already had his phone out. “I’ll send you the link, and I'll get Idia and Azul’s usernames for you. I bet they’ll be thrilled to have a fresh opponent.”
He pulled his phone out, despite Riddle’s unspoken no texting at the dinner table rule, and sent a quick text to Idia.
Cater: heyyy whats ur chess.com username or w/e + also azuls
To which Idia replied almost instantly, as he tended to do with Cater whenever he wasn’t physically too busy to multitask.
Idia: no way ur actually signing up for chess.com unprompted. whats it for
Idia: also ew why azul lol
Cater huffed a small laugh through his nose at the incoming messages while he sent the website link to Riddle, and then swapped back to Idia’s messages.
Cater: lol u know me so well bestie ~ it’s for riddle!
Cater: cmooooon u know u and azul would have fun doin one of those speedster rounds with him lol
Idia: they’re called bullet rounds 😑 w/e ya i’ll txt u the info
Idia: or yknow. he could wait to get it at the wedding. 👀👀👀
Cater gasped out loud, followed by a squeak of delight, causing both Trey and Riddle to look at him curiously.
“Whatever’s happening on your phone must be very interesting,” Trey said, “because you haven’t even glanced at the plate in front of you.”
There was, in fact, a new plate in front of Cater. A plate with a beautifully sliced, dark chocolate tart, topped with fresh strawberries and raspberries. A compromise, of course, as Trey trained himself in the art of locating more semisweet desserts back at NRC, so Cater wouldn’t feel completely shut out when it was time to bring dessert to the table.
A subtle reminder to Cater that he was very loved by his dear friend.
“Aw, sorry Trey!” Cater set his phone down and took a bite of the tart. Perfectly balanced flavors, as always. “I just got excited! Sounds like Idia’s able to make it to Azul’s wedding after all. We weren’t sure ‘cause of his schedule, but I guess he managed to clear things up in time!”
“That’s good,” Riddle said, a light smirk forming across his face, “because I think we all know Azul would never let Idia hear the end of it if he failed to show.”
Cater’s phone lit up again, another text from Idia displayed for all to see.
Idia: ummmm ahem nows the part where u ask me if i cleared my schedule so i could go ( which ya i did) so that i can smoothly lead in2 asking u for a favor
Idia: cmon cay stay on the ball 🙄
Riddle sighed. “Why don’t you just call him? There’s no use pretending you aren’t distracted by his texts going off every few seconds. It’s faster.”
Cater COULD argue that he and Idia weren’t exactly ‘callers’ so much as ‘texters’ or ‘video chatting in the privacy of their own homes while multitasking on six other activities’, but… He figured it was best not to start a disagreement with Riddle of all people.
After about three rings, Idia answered. “I-it’s not such a big favor that you needed to call me…” he sheepishly mumbled into the receiver.
Cater smiled. Idia was always so shy in the first few seconds of a call, planned or not. “Yeah, yeah, but I don’t wanna bug Riddle and Trey with my constant text notifs-”
“You know how to put your phone on silent.”
“Idiaaa…” Cater pouted, and though Idia couldn’t see his face, he could definitely hear it in Cater’s tone. “Just tell me what’s up?”
Idia exhaled a long, drawn out, dramatic sigh, before responding. “‘Kay, fine, whatever. Basically, I need you to LARP as my player 2 at Azul’s wedding. Y’know, secret stealth mission style.”
A long pause.
“...Huh?” Cater eloquently replied. “Um, what?”
“Uuughhh, this is why I didn't wanna have to explain out looouuud,” Idia groaned. “Listen. You know Azul. I know Azul. The dude invented the concept of being an insufferable, smug little bitch.”
That last comment pulled a full laugh out of Cater. “OMG, Idia, if that’s the kind of stuff you say about your besties, I’d hate to hear you tell me about your enemies!”
As if Cater hadn’t heard endless gamer rants time and time again about randos online that Idia felt personally wronged and slighted by. He knew exactly how cutting and fired up Idia could get, so by comparison, Idia was being gentle with Azul.
“LOL, Azul’s no bestie - but N-E-Way, circling back to the prime objective… Um…” Idia’s voice grew quieter as he cleared his throat. “What I’m saying is… There’s a 100% chance Azul’s gonna rub his stupid new marriage in my face, like, ‘Ohh, Idia, still single, are you? Wow, what’s that like? Can’t relate, Jamil and I are sooo happy in our stupid normie marriage, here come look at my ring did you see my ring-’ like, DUH I saw the stupid ring! He only emailed me a billion pictures of it!”
EMAIL?! Cater bit back a laugh. That was so on-brand for Azul.
“So, uh, anyway…” Idia resumed his mumbly, more reminiscent of NRC days tone of voice. “I wanna… Lie. W-With you.”
WHA-
“N-N-Not like, physically!” Idia quickly followed up before Cater could interject. “I mean, like, deceit! Lies and slander but without the slander! I want you to pretend to be my wedding date!”
“Your… Your wedding date?” Cater repeated, earning a couple of curious glances from Trey and Riddle. “Wait, what? You want me to pretend to be your date just so Azul doesn’t think you’re single?”
Trey raised an eyebrow. Riddle furrowed his brows together with a frown.
Cater pretended not to see.
“Exactly!” Idia responded with a sigh of relief that Cater was still following. “If he thinks I have a new b-boyfriend, he’ll have slightly less reason to be annoying towards me specifically! And it has to be believable anyway, right? You’re one of the few people I still talk to post-grad, so…”
It also didn’t hurt that Cater would be high up in Idia’s top 10 list of prettiest guys to ever graduate from NRC. And NO, it didn’t matter who the other nine on that list were, thank you very much.
“Well, for one, I’m totes flattered,” Cater said. “But, d’you think we’d be able to pull something like that off?”
“Cater!” Riddle interrupted. “You cannot seriously be considering-!”
“Shh,” Trey softly interrupted Riddle’s interruption. “Let’s see where they go with it, first.”
Riddle relented with a pout, leaning into Trey’s shoulder and watching Cater closely.
Idia huffed into the receiver. “What, because the Riddle Police is gonna expose us before we even try?”
“Aw, nooo, Riddle can keep a secret! Right, Riddle?” Cater covered the phone with his hand and offered Riddle and Trey his best, sweetest, pleading smile - complete with as much eyelash fluttering he could muster on the spot. A classic Cater Diamond move.
Riddle and Trey both sighed at the all-too familiar sight.
“Cater,” Trey said, “You can’t weasel your way out of every situation with a cute face.”
“Ooh, is that a challenge?” Cater winked, then dissolved into giggles as Riddle crossed his arms and continued to pout at him.
“I don’t exactly feel right about you two lying for such frivolous reasons, but… I can’t say I don’t fully… Understand.” After all, having graduated alongside Azul, Riddle just might understand better than anyone why they might feel tempted to go about such a way to avoid Azul’s smug tendencies. “Just don’t expect Trey or me to carry any outlandish stories for either of you!”
“Yay!” Cater cheered, uncovering the receiver and speaking back into the phone. “No biggie, Idia. We’re all good over here!”
“Wait, so you’re in, then!?” Idia asked. He hadn’t really expected this to go so well, but he figured if anyone would be willing to hear him out, it would be Cater. He was always down for a fun shenanigan, after all, but still… “I kinda thought I’d have to do a little more convincing, TBH. I even wrote a speech-”
“Lemme hear it anyway!”
“No!” Idia shouted. “You already agreed, so no take-backs!”
Cater giggled. “Hehe, alright, alright! Let’s do a vid call when I get home later, and we can start planning our coordinated outfits!”
The wedding itself was beautiful, obviously. Cater and Idia wondered just how much bickering likely went on behind the scenes for Jamil and Azul to find a compromise between Azul’s need for an extravagant, flashy-yet-tasteful, show-off wedding, and Jamil perhaps wanting something more lowkey and humble.
Or, perhaps they truly both wanted to show off to their former classmates, as the wedding ultimately ended up very ‘cammable, as Cater made sure to tell Idia every five minutes.
“God, did you see these centerpiece flowers?” Cater giggled between sips of champagne as he clutched Idia’s arm and tugged him over to a nearby table. He nearly spilled the glass on his shirt trying to pull his phone out of his pocket, and was saved only by Idia reaching over to pluck the champagne flute from his hand and finish drinking it himself.
“Heh, failed your dex saving throw,” Idia grinned. “And yeah, I saw those same flowers when you pointed them out ten minutes ago.”
“Uh, ‘scuse me for getting excited about all the photo ops, babe.”
Idia rolled his eyes at the obvious teasing, but a few giggles spilled from his mouth all the same. Surely it was due to the champagne that he felt so lighthearted and giddy, despite being trapped at such a bustling social event.
“Well, well…” The familiar voice of Azul Ashengrotto called out from behind the pair as he and Jamil - arm in arm, much like Idia and Cater - approached. “It would seem that your message wasn’t full of baseless fabrications just to try and distract me from our active chess match after all, hmm?”
Cater couldn’t hold back from openly, loudly laughing. “Wait- Idia, did you for realsies RSVP to their wedding over Chess.com?!”
“Yes, he did,” Jamil sighed.
“Oh, don’t act like it didn’t make you laugh too, my dear.” Azul patted Jamil on the arm, to which Jamil responded with a snort and roll of his eyes.
“That being said,'' Azul continued, “I really couldn’t believe it until I saw it for myself in person. You two really did end up together after all, then?'' His piercing gaze shifted from Idia to Cater, and then back to Idia with a growing, devilish grin. “Your cute little high school crush never faded after all these years?”
Idia gasped. Oh, he should've known this was the route Azul would take the second he didn’t have a chance to gloat about Idia being single. Of course Azul wouldn’t forget about the forbidden knowledge he collected back in the olden days of NRC. An elephant - or in this case, an octopus - never forgets! And this particular octopus still had that stupid, smug grin on his face that Idia was so hoping to avoid.
But, there truly was no avoiding smugness when Azul Ashengrotto was involved; both Idia and Cater were fools if they thought they could prove otherwise.
And speaking of Cater, his gasp was even louder than Idia’s. “OMG. A crush!? You had a crush on me when we were in school?”
Idia instinctively reached for the hood that he was not wearing. Curse these fancy wedding clothes and their stupid, hoodless collars… “U-um! So what if I did?!”
“You never told me!” Cater huffed with the PUFFIEST cheeks he could muster. Trey and Riddle could say what they want, but his cute pouts were his most powerful weapon! … After his unique magic, probably.
“The poor thing thought you were dating Trey for the longest time,” Azul interjected, clearly pleased with the direction this conversation had gone. Idia’s flustered look of betrayal was more than satisfying.
“Wh-!? I literally TOLD YOU when Trey started dating Riddle!”
“Okay, well, I thought you three had some sort of secret polycule hidden route thing going on in your IRL VN of a life!” Idia huffed, crossing his arms in what was probably a more adorably huffy look than he intended.
“Oh? What’s the matter?” Azul asked, his smarmy grin not faltering in the slightest. “You’re together now, are you not? No need to be so embarrassed… Right?”
Oh. So that’s how it was. Azul was a doubter and a HATER, huh?
“Ugh,” Idia grumbled. “Anyone would get embarrassed when you go aggro-mode like that with forbidden lore of the past!” He reached for Cater’s hand as he spoke, and gripped it firmly in defiance of Azul’s stupid smug face.
“Um, yeah, totes!” Cater returned his friendly, dazzling smile to his face. “Besides, I think it’s cute. Look how far we’ve come!”
“Maybe your wedding will be next, then.” Jamil said, a tiny smirk tugging on his lips as Idia once again failed to hide his jittery reaction.
“Oh, please,” Cater laughed. “I think Riddle might actually kill me if we cut ahead of him and Trey.”
“Oh, yes, of course,” Azul chuckled. “And how long have those two been engaged, again?”
“UUGGHHH,” Cater groaned with every ounce of drama he could muster. “Don’t rush them! You KNOW Riddle isn’t gonna cut a single corner when it comes to having the perfect wedding!”
“Well, I’d say we managed to do so quite efficiently,” Azul said, not even pretending to be humble. “I couldn’t afford to waste time, after all. I wanted to marry the love of my life as soon as possi-”
“God, you’re so cringe, Azul,” Idia interrupted, crinkling his nose at Azul’s shameless, sappy proclamations of love for his partner while he and Cater were still standing RIGHT THERE!
Cater decided that perhaps this was his and Idia’s cue to escape the conversation. “Um! Y’know what, Idia?” He said, starting to tug Idia in the opposite direction. “I totally feel inspired by their lovey-dovey vibes. Let’s go dance!”
“Wh-!” Idia’s protests dissolved in his throat as Cater swiftly pulled him through the crowd and back to the dance floor. Idia, of course, complained, but when Cater asked him if he’d rather dance together or go back and continue talking to Azul, the protests quickly stopped.
And so they danced - Cater led Idia through a range of more traditional dances that Riddle taught him over the years, and plenty of modern dance trends that Cater practiced through watching hours of viral Magicam videos. Idia, though nervous at first, soon forgot his fear of prying eyes as he and Cater got lost in the moment together. Cater wasn’t the only one with dances to teach, after all! Idia made sure to show Cater just how much he learned through all his hours of watching idol group music videos.
Perhaps their dancing strayed a bit from the theme of the actual music playing, but that didn’t matter to them. Idia and Cater had fun off to the side in their little pocket of the dance floor together, occasionally joined by a former classmate now and then, or pausing to make conversation. It really WAS  an NRC reunion, intentional or not.
And it was exciting! Exciting… And really, really draining.
“...Idi-BB,” Cater sighed, draping an arm around Idia’s shoulders and leaning against him with a few exhausted pants. “I’m, like, so spent from all our hardcore grooving. Y’’wanna go outside for some fresh air and a sensory break?”
“Yes,” Idia wheezed, nodding with equally exhausted enthusiasm.
The two promptly fled the scene, getting themselves out of the crowded venue and across the street to a quiet little park that was decorated with seasonal lights and flowers.
“Azul and Jamil really know how to pick a location,” Cater murmured as he and Idia walked under an arch of twinkling lights and found their way to a bench. “Even the nearby lots are top-tier photogenic. It looks like there’s even some kind of night market going on at this park.”
“Just what we need,” Idia complained, “MORE activities.”
“Hey, c’mon, at least over here we don’t have the obligation to talk to anyone. No familiar faces at a random market! And besides…” Cater pointed towards one of the trucks with pretty lights and colorful signage. “That one looks like it’s selling ice cream!”
“You don’t even like ice cream!”
“But you do…” Cater mumbled, and then grinned. “Plus, ice cream from vendors always looks super pretty. So, like, you get a sweet treat, and I get sweet pics! It’s a win-win, really.”
“Do you ever take a day off your photographer brain?”
“Absolutely not. The ‘cam life was simply my calling, as my professional website can show you. I still can’t believe Azul didn’t even ask to hire me for wedding photos, TBH.”
“You wouldn’t’ve wanted to,” Idia said, slowly standing up and inching over to the ice cream truck-slash-booth. “Azul would have crazy annoying standards and requests, and would no doubt try and squeeze out a ‘friends and family’ discount from you.”
“Ugh, totes,” Cater shook his head, walking alongside Idia towards the truck “I’d rather take it easy and enjoy the event as a guest, anyway. Much more fun!”
He paused for a moment, peering at the menu. “Looks like they've got some flavors based on the Great Seven - Ooh, OMG, you should get that one!”
Idia looked at the menu item Cater pointed at and read it aloud. “...King of the Underworld Cone: Mango and Habanero Sorbet, topped with blue raspberry syrup and chili-lime flakes, and served in a blue raspberry cone.”
“I love a good mango-chili combo! And the colors are perfectly coordinated to match our hair. You’ve gotta get it so we can take a cute selfie under the lights!”
Idia sighed, but pulled out his wallet as Cater ordered it for him. It DID sound pretty good, so he wasn’t going to fight it. He allowed Cater to hold the cone and pull him back over to the bench, pull him in close, and finally snap the photo before he finally got to try the ice cream.
“Jeeze, you seriously haven’t let up on the selfie-taking all evening,” Idia said between licks. “It really is like we’re back at school.” He held the cone out to Cater, tilting his head and silently offering him a taste.
“Aw, c’mon!” Cater paused, eyeing the ice cream suspiciously for a movement before lowering his head and giving it a tiny, curious lick. “...Ooo, spicy! That’s not bad.” He smiled, then turned back to his phone to text Idia the photo. “And anyway, I’ve def let up on the selfies these days, especially since I take pics for a living now.” Cater supplemented his statement with yet another pout. “Besides, today was a special occasion! Like, hello? It’s a WEDDING, and there were a ton of people I haven’t seen in years!”
Cater reached over to boop Idia on the tip of his nose. “Like you, mister! You live so far away and with such a complex job, I haven’t seen you in, like, LITERALLY forever…” He sighed, dropping his head onto Idia’s shoulder.
It was a warm and familiar sensation to the both of them. Near the end of their time at NRC, the two spent many a late night in Idia’s room binge watching anime or pop idol music videos together, which almost always ended with Cater laying half asleep propped against Idia’s side. The first three dozen times it happened, it would send Idia into a silent, internal freak out spiral, but through the exposure therapy of Cater’s consistent sleepiness, he eventually not only grew used to the feeling, but started to yearn for it on nights he watched shows alone.
“...Tell Riddle and Trey to hurry up on their wedding planning, then,” Idia mumbled into his ice cream. “If I know about it early enough, it’d be easier to fit into my busy boss-lord schedule.”
Cater’s ears perked up. “Oh? Would you really go to their wedding?! I know you weren’t as close to Riddle and Trey as you are with Azul … But then again, I guess you have been playing those online chess matches with Riddle ever since we signed him up.”
“Never doubt a warrior’s bond over a chess board,” Idia snickered. “A-And, uh, yeah. I’d go, but… Only ‘cause I know we’d get to see each other again, or whatever… O-Ortho would probably want to go, anyway, so… Might as well.”
“Aww!” Cater picked his head up to beam at Idia, eyes shining with delight. “You better promise! ‘Cause I WILL be there, and I’ll be on official photographer duty, so you should start planning your perfect outfit now. There’s no hiding from this professional shutterbug!”
“Wha-?” Idia scrunched his eyebrows together in confusion. “Weren’t you just saying you were glad you didn’t have to put up with Azul’s picky perfectionism and just wanted to enjoy being a guest? You don’t seriously think Riddle Rosehearts would be any less difficult a client than Azul, do you?”
Cater laughed. “Oh, don’t worry, Idia. you’re forgetting one very crucial detail!”
“...What’s that?”
“Riddle is my bestie, and I love him.”
Idia burst out laughing, quickly covering his mouth to avoid spewing blue and orange droplets everywhere. “The power of friendship is gonna save you from Teapot Tyrant meltdowns?”
“Hey!” Cater protested. “I’ll have you know that Riddle is MUCH more mellow these days-”
“Heh. You should see the chat logs from our last chess match.”
“Oh my god,” Cater rolled his eyes. “ANYWAY, I’ll have you know I’m the perfect person for the role. Trey and I stood by Riddle’s side for two years running Heartslabyul and herding underclassmen around. Riddle trusted my aesthetic eye when it came to setting up tea parties, and I earned that role, thank you very much! I’m a trained professional in both photography AND Riddle de-escalation tactics.”
Idia laughed again as Cater dropped his head back down onto his shoulder. Really, he couldn’t argue with that logic. After Trey, Cater really was the only other person from their school days that knew how to handle the ins and outs of a Riddle Rosehearts tantrum.
Still, a lot had changed over the years…
“...Did you really have a crush on me when we were in school?”
Idia nearly choked on the half-crunched cone that he just shoved into his mouth. “WH- GHK- CATER!”
Cater quickly sat up again and started patting Idia on the back while he coughed up blue chunks. “OMG- Don’t you dare die on me before giving me an answer!”
A few more coughs and wheezes, a rough swallow of ice cream remains, and then Idia finally spoke again. “...Ugh... Hey, what’s with the sneak attack!? Don’t you think I took enough psychic damage when Azul brought that up earlier?!”
“No!” Cater huffed. “Because you never even told me! Why’d I have to find out from AZUL?”
“B-B-Because…” Idia stammered, “Why would- I told you I thought you were dating Trey and kind of also Riddle back then! And there was also that one time you came over to hang out after you’d been to a party in Pomefiore, and you told me you kissed Rook Hunt!”
Cater gasped. “OMG, I can’t believe you remember that. I almost don’t remember that!”
“Of course I remember!” Idia took his turn to pout, now that the ice cream cone was finally finished and no longer a hazard to his theatrics. “I had a huge crush on you! OBVIOUSLY I’m gonna sit and agonize endlessly over every little detail you told me about your love life - and also my own headcanons to your love life, apparently. You were my super hot best friend and I was the school shut-in!”
Cater gasped. “You thought I was hot?”
“I still think  you’re hot!” Idia shouted, and then slammed his hands over his mouth as his eyes blew wide open and the tips of his hair flushed into a bright shade of pink, flaming wisps dancing wildly around his face.
Cater stared silently back at Idia with equally wide eyes as silence filled the air between them.
Idia promptly spent the next ten seconds planning out how he could escape and have Ortho help him fake his own death, only to be interrupted by Cater speaking again.
“...It’s kinda like the universe is playing a trick on us, don’tcha think?”
When Idia’s only response was more panicked stares, Cater continued. “Um, like… Neither of us was really ever the type to seriously ask someone out, y’know? So we were both just… Sitting on our feelings.”
Idia finally managed to find his voice again as he squeaked out a reply. “Wh-?! Both? ‘O-our’ feelings?! You never-!”
“Ugh, Idia, please,” Cater grabbed Idia by the shoulders and turned him so they were facing each other. “I fell asleep on your shoulder WAY more times than I’ve ever gotten sleepy hanging out with Trey, and he and I were roomies for two years straight!”
“...How many times did you fall asleep on Tr-”
“NOT important! Just- Listen…” Cater closed his eyes for a moment and took a deep breath. He slid his hands down from Idia’s shoulders to his hands, then opened his eyes and looked at Idia very seriously. “...I… Also still think you’re hot.”
“Wh- Don’t make fun of me!” Idia shrieked, his face now matching the color of the tips of his hair as he attempted - unsuccessfully - to wiggle his way out of Cater’s grasp.
“Sorry, sorry, I couldn’t help it!” Cater giggled, tugging Idia closer. “But I'm not making fun, I swear! You really are still a Grade-A hottie after all these years!”
Idia paused his squirming to glance sideways at Cater. “..Enough to kiss me instead of Rook at a party?”
Cater gasped in shock, and it was Idia’s turn to laugh.
“IDIA! You’re so much bolder these days, jeeze….” A sly grin spread across Cater’s face, and he leaned closer. “But, y’know… We ARE at a wedding party, and Rook is one of the guests.
Idia went quiet again, freezing in place as he watched Cater’s face move closer.
“Totes within kissable range if we went back, I guess… But I kinda don’t wanna get on Vil and Leona’s bad side, y’know?”
He leaned in closer, and hoped Idia couldn’t hear the anxious hammering of his heart against his chest.
“And… You’re a lot closer… And a lot cuter, TBH…”
Cater paused, averting his eyes to the side. Waiting.
The offer was on the table, and it was up to Idia what happened next. The following five seconds stretched across what felt like eons to them both as Idia focused all his energy on trying not to literally pass out on the bench and take Cater down with him, or get overwhelmed by the possibility that if he DID kiss Cater, Cater might immediately throw up all over him and run away screaming. Really, it wasn’t that he didn’t WANT to kiss Cater, but what if he died? What if they both died!?
Well, they didn’t die. The agonizing seconds passed, but Idia decided that if he DID die, he’d rather go out knowing what Cater Diamond’s lips felt like against his, even if just one time.
The kiss itself was quick, but had the weight of ten thousand hammers crashing into their walls of repressed feelings built up over several years.
Idia pulled back first, watching Cater cautiously for any signs of nausea.
But, Cater smiled at him, a nervous giggle bubbling from his lips. “That was-”
“BIG BROTHER? CATER DIAMOND? WHERE ARE YOU!?” Ortho Shroud’s shouted out in the distance from the direction of the wedding venue.
Oh, shit. How long had they been hiding out at that park, again?
“We… We should probably… Go back…” Idia mumbled.
“Y-yeah…” Cater slowly backed off of Idia, face flushed, but had not let go of his hands. “We… We should talk tonight, yeah?”
Idia wordlessly nodded, clutching Cater’s hands like his life depended on it.They headed back towards the wedding venue, hand-in-hand, both ignoring the internal dread from within at the growing realization that they both, somehow, had Azul Ashengrotto to thank for this.

So I finally watched the FNAF movie! Here’s my live reaction!
* 1st dream scene: so if Mike is an Afton, and Garrett is a stand in for CC, this could mean that CC died first.
* Phone guy = W. Afton theory?? Hello???
* SAVE MY BOY DOUG. HE HAS SEEN THINGS
* Vanessa’s appearance: THEY REFUSE TO SAY MIKE’S LAST NAME
* Park scene: THEYRE OPENING UP THE IDEA THAT MIKE SCHMITT IS AFTON
* Side note: if this is the Aftons, we got the sibling ages. Michael as the oldest, CC as the middle child, and Elizabeth as the youngest. I mean it fits lol.
* OOH. CLOWN GIRL ANIMATRONIC. BABY???
* “[The killer] influences them.” I CALLED IT!!! ITS JUST LIKE THE FUCKING BOOKS!!! FUCK YEAHHH!!!
* ??????? VANESSA IS WILLIAM AFTON’S DAUGHTER???? HUH????
* “I won’t be any used to you.” -Vanessa. Hello?? 👀👀
* ABBY IN BABY!!
* Abby with the arcade: JUST LIKE THE OPENING OF SILVER EYES!!
* Wait, but that was Charlie in that position. Is Abby supposed to be Charlie???
* WILLY BOY! HELLO!!! :D
* HE REMEMBERS????
* I love his voice :)
* YEAAAAHHH!! HIRING DUDE IS WILLY AFTON CONFIRMED!!!!
* OH! THEY HAD TO BE REMINDED! JUST LIKE THE BOOKS!
* Hello FNAF 4 mini game :)
* Eh.. The death could’ve been done better.
* But at least we got confirmation that it wasn’t an instadeath :)
* Fun fact! I showed the FNAF 3 cutscene to my mother who’s a doctor and told her what was happening. She said that depending how he got steward, he could’ve been alive for weeks before finally dying.
* WHY ARE THEY STILL RED?? THATS ONLY WHEN WILLY IS IN CONTROL????
* Wait. Could the “Vanessa is W. Afton’s daughter” a false memory? Just like the game?
* ITS THE FNAF 3 TRAILER
* YOOOOOO FNAF 1 SONG
* OUR ANTHEM
* YO BALLOON BOYYYY
* AAAAYYY! FNAF 2 MUSIC BOX!
* AYO? DISTORTED VOICE???
* Distorted voice: C O M E F I N D M E
* “Come find me”???????
* So this is obviously said by W. Afton. It’s used with the same voice by the FNAF 2 mini game. Does this mean that the voice in FNAF 2 also said by W. Afton?
* My dad told me that the actress for Abby is going to be in the second movie which clearly takes place in FNAF 2 location. If she’s a stand in for Charlie, she’s going to die here.
Final thoughts:
Overall, I’m really happy how it turned out! It’s defiantly prioritized the most hardcore fans, and that’s ok!
The biggest criticism I have is that the Afton death scene could’ve been done so much better. This is one of the most iconic moments in FNAF. I wish it recognized that.

Want Me Back | Part 1.
Okoye x Female Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: You haven't been happy in a long time, and Okoye just can't seem to understand that she's the problem.
Word Count: 3.1k
Angst, Hurt
Warnings: None
Tumblr media
The door to you and Okoye’s shared home opened, and Okoye’s figure appeared in the dark. She wore her Dora Milaje uniform perfectly and her face looked unbothered. Maybe even satisfied. She didn’t look too tired considering the time. Overall she looked very put together, much like she always did.
You, on the other hand, looked completely out of order. You wore the most mismatched pieces of clothing that you owned, your hair was in no shape to go out in public, and overall, your face was still puffy from the tears that you had shed only minutes before her arrival. You looked like the day had really run you over.
“My love.”
“Y/n,” she greeted you back blandly as she saw you sitting in the dark with a lit candle.
You noted that down. She had all of the options in the world and she called you by your name, like any other person. Not; my love. Not; sthandwa sam. Not even a casual; darling. She had greeted you like the two of you were just some housemates that occasionally indulged in small talk. You weren’t surprised by her lack of affection nor were you surprised when she completely dodged you to go and undress and take a bath, not stopping to give you even a peck on the cheek. That’s how it had been for the past few months.
You would be in a state of disaster as she came home from her General Duties and she would be all calm, and happy. She wouldn’t bother to ask you about why you looked so defeated or worried.
Then you’d get into bed and she’d barely touch you, and she surely wouldn’t do anything to help you in achieving your goals.
Like that exact moment, where you were still in the chair studying for a test that you had at your university for your degree in teaching. The same test that she had promised to leave work early just to help you study for. It was 02:02 a.m and your head was killing you. A side effect from the illness that you had gotten from one of the kids at the school you worked at earlier in the week.
Okoye didn’t care about the work you were constantly putting in, though. To you, it felt like all you were to her was a lousy assistant teacher who had no real purpose. She never said it like that but that is exactly how she made it look.
Before her dream of becoming the General of the Adored Ones had come true, you sacrificed every extra minute of your freetime training with her, whether you were working or not. You supported her even when she felt like she couldn’t do it and when she was struggling to cope, you took a deep breath and kept helping, reassuring her that she could do it. You did this because it was her dream and you loved her so therefore it was your dream too.
Unfortunately, she didn’t apply the same logic to your job. You wanted so badly to become a good teacher, and to enlighten young minds with the magic of knowledge, but she never helped you in trying to achieve these dreams. She didn’t visit the school you worked at. She wouldn’t know a thing about your field of work even though it was all you talked about, and she never even tried to make things easier for you.
Instead, she did what suited her. Like turning on the light in the house when you had clearly wanted them off, hence the lit candle.
“Okoye!” you whined loudly, rubbing your temples as you closed your eyes to shield them from the light.
She looked at you, confused. “What?”
“My head hurts and I need the lights off to focus.” You replied standing up to switch them off.
She shrugged and gave a pathetic “Sorry.” like usual. You rolled your eyes.
“How was I supposed to know?” She asked with an agitated voice, as if you were the problem.
What you really wanted to say to that was. ‘I’ve told you countless times! YOU JUST DON’T CARE!’
“I sent you a message.” is what you ended up saying definitively.
For extra measure, you sat back down, took out one of your beads, and navigated yourself to a chat log from earlier in the day, because you were definitely going to stoop low tonight.
You began to read. “‘Sthandwa sam, I have a really bad headache today. Please don’t open the blinds or turn the lights on when you come back to help me study later.’”
You then asked.“Does that jog your memory?”
She nodded, guilt creeping up on her face, but her pride still consumed much of her expression, which only made you more irritated. Again she shrugged like it was nothing, and although you usually left your annoyed statements there, today you just weren't having it. You turned to her as you sat down, ready to let her have it, but stopping yourself to make sure that you worded it all correctly.
“You said you’d be here to help me study before dinner, Okoye.”
“Time got ahead of me. Important things came up.”
“So I'm not important?!” you asked, actually curious to know, because she didn’t treat you like you were. She sucked her teeth and rolled her eyes at you, her favourite combination to show her annoyance for you lately.
“I didn’t SAY THAT!”
“YOU IMPLIED IT.” you froze at your own words, your breath hitching for a second.
Your eyes grew watery as you spoke but you were determined to finish speaking your mind. “I really needed your help earlier and you know I’m not feeling well and I have the exam tomor-” you were cut off by her approaching you and putting her hand up to stop you from talking.
You stared at her, bewildered by her action, and you were quick to swat her hand away.
“I’m sorry, but can we talk about this tomorrow? Work was extremely tiring today.” She explained to you. Like you didn’t know how that felt. Like you hadn’t just done a full day of school starting from the crack of dawn only to go to work and not rest your sick body until early evening, where you skipped dinner to study up until that very moment.
“I’m busy tomorrow.” you spat out at her, shifting your head to get further away from her.
“Oh, your exam. Right.” She came even closer to you. Again, prompting you to move back, nearly falling off of your chair.
You could feel yourself melting under the charm, breaking under the pressure of her sudden remembrance. It was SO performative. But you were so hooked.
Her hand grazed your arm, rising to come up to your chin, where she held your face up and smiled at you.
“Why don’t we go on a date tomorrow? I have a day off and we can celebrate right after your exam.” She suggested, changing the subject like she always did. Looking at you like she hadn’t just dismissed your clear frustration with her again.
You looked at her, hoping that maybe she was joking. There was no way that she was actually asking you to go out on a date.
Firstly, you had the most important exam of your life that morning and you wouldn’t want to be distracted by the prospect of her taking you out on a date.
Secondly, you were still sick, and you weren’t keen on leaving home when you were sick.
Thirdly, you still had work. Which would mean rushing to leave to get home after a long day just so that she could avoid confronting your problems for an entire dinner. That would be yet another mission that you’d have to get through..
All of those reasons were completely reasonable enough for you to decline and tell her to try another time, but the prospect of it being her first day off in 3 months, and her not spending enough time with you already felt so tempting.
You grumbled, “Fine.”
She kissed you gently at that, a satisfied grin plastered on her lips for the night as she went to go to sleep.
You let a tear slip, but quickly wiped it away and got back to work.

THE NEXT DAY
You woke up to feel the presence of your so-called 'lover' on the other side of the bed. Getting up and out of the bed, you couldn't be bothered to look at her, or even plant a kiss on her head. You couldn’t handle seeing her.
She had abandoned you the day before, just like she had the day before that one, and every other day previous to that. And to add insult to injury, she thought a date would fix it.
Now you’d spent the rest of the night crying instead of studying, while she peacefully slept, never getting up to make sure that you ended up going to sleep.
Your mind was only consumed with your relationship problems, and how she was constantly rushing over your feelings and ignoring you when you called her out on it.
This was not good. You had an exam to get ready for, and there wouldn’t be any questions about your broken relationship on there.
You stood up and went to the bathroom to get ready, hearing the rustling of the sheets. She would wake up soon. It was nearing the sixth hour of the day, and she’d need to go to training.
You hated yourself for knowing her schedule by heart. She would not be able to say the same thing about you. She probably didn’t even know where you worked, if you thought about it closely enough.
You sighed at the thought. Okoye had really been disappointing you lately.
You had asked her so nicely to come home and help you study for the most important test of your career so far. For the test that would determine if you could ever become a permanent teacher at the school of your dreams, and she had bailed on you.
You were really reaching your breaking point, and you weren’t sure how much more you could take.
30 minutes later, you were already in a rush to get to campus. Your exam only started at 08:00 but you were paranoid and needed to get out of the house anyway.
Before you left, you looked at Okoye who had just gotten up.
“Don’t forget about our date today.”
“I won’t.” she grumbled.
You glared at her. “I mean it, Okoye. I wouldn’t miss this date if I were you.” you got a confused look from her on your way out.
As you walked towards Wakanda University, your mind raced again. It tried its best to recall all of the answers that you had struggled to answer the night before. You arrived at your exam venue 45 minutes early, and decided to study a few more topics in more detail.
As you sat, looking down at the holographic-type computer that held your exam behind a big blue button, you said one last hopeless prayer. “Bast don’t fail me now.”
Tumblr media
9 hours later…
“Umwe, remember to tell your mother to come and see me by the end of the week.” Anze, the teacher that you assisted, said to one of her students as the kids packed up for the day.
It was the first sentence that you had actually paid attention to in the last 3 hours, mostly because she said it in Hausa, rather than Wakandan or English. She knew that Umwe spoke Hausa more than English and Wakandan at home, so sometimes she struggled.
You loved seeing how much effort Anze put into every student. You wanted to be like her some day. She was only slightly older than you, so you related to her a lot more than other teachers that you had assisted in the past.
A stream of loud yells came towards you as the students left, “Bye Ms. Y/l/n!” you smiled and waved at them and stood up to organise the classroom before you left.
Anze had seen your face the whole day, and she knew about your exam so she was worried that something bad had happened.
“Is everything okay?” she asked as she approached the back of the room where you were. “How did it go?”
“It was fine. I think I have a shot. I’m just a bit… apprehensive.”
“Is it Okoye again?” you turned your head to the side, raising an eyebrow.
“When is it not?”
Immediately, she came towards you and gave you a hug, allowing you to have a quick breakdown in her arms. It wasn’t the first time you had cried about Okoye to her, but the two of you were close now, so she knew not to ask until you said something.
You detached yourself from her body and wiped your face, pulling yourself together again. “Thank you. I needed that.”
She crossed her arms at you. “You can’t keep letting her do what she wants, Y/n. You’re going places, and she needs to know that she either needs to go with you or stay behind. She can’t keep pretending that she’s coming with you while she secretly stays behind. She gets the best of both worlds and you get the best of nothing.”
“I know. I’m going to tell her that. I just need the right time. Maybe she’ll finally change.”
“Hm” she scoffed, “Y/n. I love dreaming too. But sometimes, you have to wake up.”
You nodded shamefully. She was right. You needed to wake up. And you needed to do it now. She had nearly ruined your shot at acing the exam, and although in the end it went well, who could promise you that it would the next time.
“I’ll talk to her.” you said. She eyed you down. “I promise. This time I’m going to talk and make her listen.” you crossed your fingers to show her how serious you were and she smiled at you, hugging you once again before letting you go early to get ready for your date.
You didn’t need to leave early to get all dressed up for your date in the first place, because in true Okoye fashion, she was late. You checked the time over and over again as the seconds came and went, soon becoming minutes and then hours.
By ten o’clock you were completely fed up. You had skipped dinner thinking that you would go to a nice restaurant. But now you were heartbroken and hungry. Anger consumed your thoughts as you stood up, went to the mirror to look at yourself once more and see your beautiful reflection. You finally saw it.
You were a catch, and if Okoye couldn’t see that. That was her own fault, not yours.
Your journey to the palace was short and brisk. Your formal attire didn’t stop you from walking at a fast pace and in no more than 15 minutes after the mirror moment, you were walking frantically around the palace, looking for Okoye.
Luckily, for once something went your way, as you were quick to find her. She stood in her stationery position in front of Shuri’s lab.
You felt even luckier seeing as she was the only one there. You supposed Shuri was still in the lab, but the walls were soundproof when needed, so Okoye would just have to pray that Shuri had turned that setting on, because things were about to get heated.
“OKOYE!” You started out strong, not fearing the confrontation anymore. She looked in your direction- surprised.
“My love, what are you doing here?"
You didn’t dignify that with a response, rolling your eyes."You were supposed to come home and pick me up to go on our date."
Her face morphed into one of realisation. On ‘o’ shape formed on her lips. Then she gave you her signature pity smile.
"Things changed. I'm sorry, I forgot to tell you."
You scoffed, " Of course you did."
She was moved by this, as she backed her head and scrunched her eyebrows together.
“My love, it’s just a date. Why are you so angry? I said that I forgot, how is that not enough for you?”
"It’s not just the DATE! “ you yelled, breathing to calm down. “It’s you not helping me with anything. I helped you become the General and you have never returned the favour. You think my job is less important than yours. You become the General of the Dora Milaje and now my dreams no longer matter."
"You're making a scene!" she whispered. “ NOBODY IS HERE!” you responded.,
“Shuri and A- you know what? Can we do this outside at least?”
“No! We’re gonna do this right here, so that anyone that is passing can hear me for once!.” you could feel yourself getting emotional again.
“YOU DON’T MAKE ME FEEL GOOD, OKOYE!” you really let yourself scream.
“I have been in competition with your job for YOUR LOVE for years, and the sad part is that I helped you get the damn position!”
With her not saying anything you continued, “I have been fooling myself trying to tell myself that you care about me, but you don’t, and everyone except me has seen it apparently.”
She looked at you, wanting to say something but not being able to. Tears came to her face as she saw where the conversation was heading.
“Y/n, please.” she began. She tried to take you into her arms. You were quick to push her away. More tears fell.
"Bast, Okoye. Stop with the tears already!" You insisted; becoming less receptive to her antics.
“I won’t keep doing this if you won’t change. You can either support me like a partner or I can leave.”
She looked down, not saying anything as you stared in disbelief.
One tear escaped as you turned, "I guess I have my answer. I’ll get my stuff in the morning.”
You left Okoye there, wiping her tears away, just as a shocked Shuri and Ayo came out of the lab; having heard it all.

Gojo x reader Gojo has a crush on his student yn she's 18-19 y/o and yn doesn't like him she feels uncomfortable and always kinda avoid or ignore him and howd Gojo feel about that?!?
hmm… I’m sensing a bit of yandere 🤔
but I’m so so so so so sooo sorry this took forever 😭 I’ve been unbelievably busy. Anyways, here u go 🫶
tw: yandere, violence, overall pretty creepy
Tumblr media
“Come on, keep going! Then after we can go out to dinner,” gojo says as you groan.
“I’ve told you ten million times! I don’t like you like that and your way too old for me.” You give up on your last push up.
“hey! Get back up keep going,” he says. You had no idea why he made you do push ups all the time. Unless if it was to stare at you. See, gojo had been all over you and wanting to take you out ever since he met you, really. And you didn’t want to. At all. “I’m done. I’m gonna go home now, Gojo.” You say as you grab your things and start walking. He just runs after you and starts walking alongside you. “How about i take you out then? All on me,” he puts his hands up. You just keep walking.
when you make it to your house you have to slam the door as fast as you can in order to not let him inside. “y/n! I need to tell you something!!” He knocks on the door. More like bangs. This was getting out of hand. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• You stretch and pull the covers away to start your day. It was the weekend, so no training today. You and your friend were meeting up for lunch. The both of you were best friends. A lot of people mistake you for a couple when it’s really just all platonic
“Y/n!” A voice calls. Oh, shit. You think. Gojo. “go away, gojo I’m meeting with my friend.” You say flatly. “I can walk you then,” he says
“no thanks, I’m ok” you don’t blink an eye at him and keep walking. A little faster this time. You reach the restaurant with gojo still trailing behind you. “Seriously! It’s the weekend so I don’t need to train or anything. You should go relax too.” You raise your voice a bit. He ignores your comment, still walking with you. You decide to just ignore him.
when you get to the restaurant you go inside to check in and see your friend waiting at a table. “Yuji! What’s up,” you both do your signature handshake. “hey!- why’s gojo here?” He asks. He kinda knew about his obsession with you.
“he was just ‘walking’ me here” you roll your eyes a bit so only yuji can see. “oh. See ya later gojo!” Yuji waves. Only he can make gojo go away. You guessed also because you were in a public place. Before Yuji can say anything you start talking
“I know. I’ve been trying to knock some sense in him, but he doesn’t care,”
“it’s ok, I can walk you home tonight,” He offers and you smile.
“thanks,” you respond
“What do you think you’re gonna get?” Yuji asks, flipping over his menu. “hmm I’ll prolly get the tonkotsu ramen,”
“of course, classic y/n!” He laughs. You laugh along, feeling happy for the first time in awhile. The whole time you can’t help but feel like someone is watching you.
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Yuji walks you to your house and you still feel unsettled even as you open the door and set down your belongings. You walk into your bedroom to get some sleep.
“hello, my dear. How was your dinner?” You scream. What the hell?! “gojo, what are you doing here! How- how did you get in my house!” You yell.
“oh, I just wanted to see you,” he stands up.
“go away! I’m done with all of your crap. Following me around, everything! Why are you so obsessed with me?” You ask with a shaky voice.
“oh, are you telling me to stop? I wouldn’t want to do that if I were you~“
“w-What do you mean?” You back away and hit your closet. You turn around to see your closet open with a bunch of…
“Dead bodies?!” You scream and run out of your house. Those dead bodies weren’t strangers. No. Friends, some family, even people you’ve only talked to a few times! Gojo chases after you.
“y/n, don’t be afraid. I did all of this for you” he smiles creepily.
“will you be mine?”

Hey it’s been awhile since you reblogged that one nsfw ask meme yk what, fuck it why don’t you answer all of them with whatever ship you want 👀
HAHAHAAH OHHH ANON THIS TOOK MULTIPLE DAYS I HOPE YOU ARE HAPPY WITH CHESSPIECES-
———
CHECKMATE NSFW ASK MEME (KINGER X QUEENIE)
———
1. What was their first time like?
Kinda awkward at first, their first time together was Kingers first time with anyone. It was mostly just testing waters, slow and sweet and obviously not perfect but one time turned into another time and another so it must’ve not been that bad !! There was definitely a lot more communication and talking than actions in itself, learning about eachother and what they liked as they don’t immediately know right off the bat, and Kinger barely knows himself anyway.
2. Who usually initiates things?
Queenie is more assertive and overall confident. She usually starts things, but Kinger is not unknown to also do so.
3. How often do they have sex?
Not often actually, it’s not something super important to them in the first place but also, living in the circus kinda sucks and there’s not really a lot of free time in order to do so❗️💔
4. Who is louder/noisier?
Here!
5. Who is more sensitive?
Kinger probably.
6. What's foreplay often like?
They have a lot of prep, after all they are never in a rush. Lots of soft kisses all over, slowly trailing down and massaging- teasing- the teasing is definitely Queenie. Kinger just can’t, is Queenie wants something you mean he has to say no? But yeah, lube, condoms, all the wonderful things before they get into the real thing.
7. Favorite place to have sex?
They’ve probably only done it in their rooms before but for the sake of this question can you imagine if one time they snuck away mid-adventure during the day to like.. the castle or just into the hallway and Queenie pushed Kinger against the wall or hid in there and was being real risky? I’d say they could’ve done something like that once which Queenie loved, but Kingers far too paranoid so he’d prefer their bedrooms.
8. Favorite position to have sex?
Basic/Common positions- Kinger likes missionary most because he’s a vanilla loser but Queenie also loves doggy, pretzel dip, cowgirl- silly silly things that she can’t decide a favorite.
9. Who's best at oral sex/oral headcanons?
This is so funny thinking of them as chesspieces bro anyway I’ll say Queenie.
10. Who's more likely to tickle their partner?
Kinger might to make Queenie laugh a bit but I don’t see tickling to do with anything sexual w them.
11. Who's more romantically sexual?
I’m honestly going to say Kinger, and my reasoning is that Kinger prefers to be more slow and sweet, and Queenie loves that but also when she’s topping then she’s much rougher and quicker. Doesn’t have to do much with romance at first glance but I think with Kingers mannerisms, he draws things out longer.
12. Who's better at dirty talk/dirty talk headcanon?
Queenie hahhaHa but they don’t degrade, they are huge on praise. Kinger gets nervous but he’s still good at it, mumble in between kisses compliments usually- how she’s so pretty and beautiful. Queenie is much better, because she can suppress her noises more easily and focus on her talking. She praises him constantly over every little thing because Kinger always gets unbelievably flustered. While Kinger usually just sticks to small compliments, Queenie likes to comment more on the direct situation- like “you’re doing so good,” “That’s it, you’re such a pretty boy,” “you’re so cute looking up at me like that,” HAHAH and more yk yk.
13. Do they have sexual nicknames or titles?
Here!
14. Who's more likely to be caught masturbating?
I wanna say Queenie because she’s the more sexual one but I also wanna say Kinger because he’s.. not smart idk. Mf would forget to lock the door so yeah. Kinger.
15. Who looks at porn more?
They can’t look at porn in the circus, I’m almost positive Caine wouldn’t allow that lol.
16. Who usually cums first?
Kinger, just by using the logic of men vs women in that area. It’s much much easier and common for the men to..
17. How long can they go?
Kinger is wiped after just one round- I think Queenie could go maybe 3 before she’s sore.
18. What are their safewords?
Here!
19. Any routines?
Ummm I don’t think so! They don’t really stick to the same one thing over and over. However maybe aftercare. It’s very very important to them, and they always take a lot of time to clean up and check in on one another.
20. Do they have a dynamic (Dom/sub) or are they versatile?
Versatile for the most part but Queenie does tend to lean towards dominant and Kinger leans more submissive with his behavior.
21. What roleplay scenarios do they have/want?
I don’t think they really roleplay anything? (This is an excuse to not think hard about it because hhh idk!)
22. What sextoys do they use?
I doubt sex toys are a thing in the circus as well but for the sake of this question I’ll say a strap or vibrators. Haha.. ha.. Queenie… strap..
23. Who, if anyone, would they most likely bring in to join them?
Here!
24. Shared kinks/fetishes?
They are drastically different when it comes to this, Kinger is pretty vanilla and Queenie is quite kinky, however they do both love and share a praise kink.
25. Something they tried and won't do again?
Oh man. Maybe risk play? Queenie thought it’d be super exciting, the thought of almost getting caught but it freaked Kinger out so much they might’ve had to stop. Poor guy is too paranoid for that.
26. What would each member say their favorite thing about the other(s) is?
Kinger would say her eyes, her voice, he’d ramble on and gush about her every feature and aspect of her appearance and then Queenie would be the sort to write on a piece of paper “tits or ass” and write personality instead, and then check off “ass” anyway.
27. Any headcanons not touched on?
Nothing comes to my mind!! I ramble about them oh so much already i just can’t think of anything else eeee

make them requests 8
Fav author of mine, hello once again.
I would like to humbly request a shinobu x she/her reader, mafia (AU).The reader is an assassin that works for about anyone if they have the requirements<friends w shin>.(💵) Shinobu is against douma's gang because he killed Kanae. But douma wants to hire an assassin to kill shin ,so he turns to the reader but having work with her and knowing the reason she is after douma–not me hating his guts– so she declines. the bastard asked around and found some trustworthy sources that told him about the relationship between his enemy and the interesting assassin.
So in order to make both of the people he's after suffer, he kidnaps shinobu and sends a vid/photo /calls the reader to let her know what he will do to her if she doesn't come. And she goes to save her.
I shall leave the rest to your capable hands.

No Loose Ends
Shinobu Kochou x She/ Her Reader Modern AU
A/N: These two were similar so I combined them. Hope that was fine! I had fun writing this one. Sometimes I get a little discouraged because I don’t see any improvements in my overall writing ability but I feel like I can say pretty confidently that this turned out better than the original assassin fic I wrote so I hope you guys like it too! I’m not well versed in mafia knowledge or writing decent fight scenes, but I did my best. Hope y’all like it! ~~~ = the past. Warnings: Profanity, very brief mention of sexual activity, guns and murder, quite a bit of murder. Word Count: 8,239
“Took you long enough,” Shinobu teased from where she laid sprawled out upon the couch, a laptop resting on her stomach as she typed.
(Y/n) was sure if the other leaders within their circle knew that this was how their boss conducted her business in the privacy of her own home, they would probably throw a fit at how unprofessional she looked at that moment.
“Ew, don’t you dare track any blood and guts on that rug, I just bought that.” She added when she took a moment to look over the edge of her screen.
“Maybe if your buddy Tomioka could have provided me with a little more info, I would have been back earlier and a lot less messy than I am right now.” (Y/n) huffed, removing what she could of her blood soaked clothes in the entryway.
“I could use some help here.”
Shinobu rolled her eyes and put her laptop on the coffee table. She sat up and stretched, but made no move to actually stand.
“Just leave them on the tiles, I’ll call someone to dispose of them properly. As for Tomioka, I’ll tack an extra five grand to his bill. Does that seem fair?”
(Y/n) pretended to mull it over before nodding, a smirky kind of smile tugged at her lips at the thought of a bigger pay day.
“Yeah, that seems fair for my pain and suffering.”
“Good. Now go clean up so we can decide what to order for dinner. It’s late enough as it is, we’ll be lucky if anything good is still open.”
“Yeah, yeah, I’ll try to be quick.” (Y/n) tip-toed as fast as she could to the luxurious bathroom, happy to see that Shinobu seemed to have filled the tub in anticipation of her late arrival.
“Anything in particular you hope is open?” Shinobu called from the couch as (Y/n) finished undressing.
“You know what I like. I’ll be fine with whatever place you want.” (Y/n) called back.
“Okay!”
It was still kind of surreal to (Y/n) how she had ended up here. When she was younger, she had been living alone on the streets and reached a point where she decided she was through waiting for help that would never come. She decided she would start helping herself.
~~~
The first time she killed was when she had been followed down an alley by a tall, foreboding man. He pulled a knife on her, but she pulled hers quicker, slicing and stabbing until he slid to the ground.
Her heartbeat raced watching him choke on his own blood, but she was surprised not to feel any regret or panic at what she had done. It was no accident, she made sure no one saw them enter that alley, she planned to kill him if he tried to attack her, but she didn’t expect to feel as eerily calm as she did.
She took his cash, easily sellable items that weren’t personalized, made sure that there was nothing around tying her to the scene and then stealthily left the alley with what she estimated to be about eight hundred dollars.
She doesn’t remember the man’s face, but she does remember that her belly was full for the first time in months and she slept in a room where the door could lock and had an actual bed free of mites.
She was careful, but it didn’t take long before people came sniffing around. People on the streets talked, and if you suddenly had yourself a decent apartment and a little money to spare, they were going to find out why sooner or later. Fortunately, that only seemed to grant (Y/n) more opportunities.
She liked to call herself a freelancer in polite company. It wasn’t a lie, but people typically pictured journalism or photography when she said that, not an assassin for hire.
The life she had then was a far cry from what she knew as a young teenager. She had a business. Whether one would call it respectable or not was up for debate, but the money was good and a valid job never went unfinished.
It was through her work that she had first met Shinobu. The freshly appointed leader of her gang after the murder of her sister at the hands of a rival group. A cult of all things. (Y/n) recalled it had been raining.
“You’re the assassin.” Shinobu stated it as a matter of fact as she matched (Y/n)’s strides, marching beside her in the flooded sidewalk.
“And if you know that much, then you know the rules.” (Y/n) had quipped, not even glancing at Shinobu as she walked on. “You stop at one of my designated spots, leave your info and I contact you. Got it?”
“I don’t have time for that.” Shinobu persisted. “I need to make him pay, now.”
“Well I hate to break it to you sweetheart, but I have a system and not even you are special enough to override that. You want my help, you follow the rules.”
Shinobu growled and turned abruptly in front of (Y/n), blocking her path.
“I am the leader of the Kochou Clan, and you will listen to me or you will be very sorry!”
“Ah, you mean that Robin Hood group that steals from the rich to give to the poor? I find that rather hard to believe, threatening me like this. Doesn’t sound like something leader of a respectable group like that would say at all.” (Y/n) taunted.
“And why would you come here yourself if you truly are in such an important position? Why come here at all, even? You should have really had an underling come in your stead. Not very smart, nor safe.” She tisked. She tried to sidestep Shinobu, but she blocked her path again, fire burning in her eyes.
“Kanae, my sister, the last of my blood related family after our parents were killed in a car crash, the kindest person to ever walk the face of this shitty planet, was just slaughtered in cold blood. I’m not going to sit back and trust that it will all just work out. I—“ Shinobu shuddered under the cold rain, “—I can pay. I will pay you, give you anything you want I—“
“Alright just keep your voice down.” (Y/n) sighed and took off her heavy rain coat, throwing it over Shinobu’s head. “You’re freezing, we’ll talk inside.”
This was why (Y/n) had a system. So pretty girls didn’t come up to her close to tears on the sidewalk where just anyone could overhear and now she had brought her up to her apartment so now she knows where she lives. She may be an assassin, but she was not heartless. That was her weakness.
They talked until well into the morning. Shinobu gave (Y/n) all the information she had and they negotiated the terms of their contract. (Y/n) had to school her expression to one of neutrality when she heard Shinobu was willing to give her half a million dollars up front and another half a million upon completing the job. There was no back and forth counter offers, that was just her first unprompted offer.
“That’s a lot of money.” (Y/n) stated the obvious, mostly because she was stunned into silence otherwise. It was all she could bring herself to say.
“For justice for my sister, it is nothing.” Shinobu replied.
(Y/n) rubbed tiredly at her face. She couldn’t believe she was going to say what she would next.
“I’m not taking a million dollars.”
Shinobu opened her mouth, to either cuss her out or raise the offer, (Y/n) didn’t wait to listen.
“I am not taking a million dollars because that’s insane. You use that money to help people. Your people do good things with that money and I’ve seen lives turned around since you guys started up. This bastard that killed your sister,” (Y/n) could really not believe what she was saying right now,
“I’ll kill him for free.”
Shinobu was insulted and refused at first, but in the end (Y/n) had convinced her that it would be a shame to have Kanae’s hard work wasted on an already well off assassin. That money had to go to people who really needed it.
Instead, Shinobu promised to give her no shortage of jobs. As pure as her gang’s intentions were, their means were very much not. She had many connections that could benefit from the help of an assassin. They shook on it and the deal had been struck.
It took about three months to find the man that had gunned down Kanae, and (Y/n) recognized him. A competitor in her line of business. She could have simply killed him. All Shinobu wanted was the head of her sister’s killer, but this man wasn’t the one who wanted her dead, he had simply pulled the trigger.
She tortured him until he squealed the name of the man who called for the hit.
“Douma!” He cried, “It was Douma of the Eternal Paradise Cult! I don’t know what else to tell you! He’s never even let me see his face!”
Douma, (Y/n) had heard of him. He was a very illusive man, however. Even if he wanted to meet with someone, the hoops he’d make them jump through were no joke. He was careful, calculated, and apparently wanted the whole Kochou Clan destroyed if the little wrinkled and outdated photo of Shinobu she found in the other assassin’s pocket was anything to go by.
She put the unfortunate conduit of Douma’s demands out of his misery and took his head back to Shinobu, telling her all that she could.
Shinobu sat stone-faced as she absorbed the information. She nodded robotically when (Y/n) asked her if she was okay. She had known that someone wanted her dead, but having it all laid out before her, to have a name, it was a lot.
“Thank you.”
“Don’t thank me yet.” (Y/n) shook her head. “The job isn’t complete.”
“You killed the man who killed my sister. That was all I asked of you.” Shinobu reminded.
“He was only doing the job he had been given. Douma is the one who wanted Kanae dead. I don’t like loose ends and…”
And… (Y/n) had grown far too attached. Douma would find out that his hired gun was dead and he’d search for another. Shinobu’s life would be in jeopardy until Douma was dead.
(Y/n) hadn’t expected Shinobu to rush in to kiss her in that moment she paused, but she did. And (Y/n) certainly wasn’t stopping her. Maybe it was adrenaline from earlier, maybe all that teasing and flirting over the past three months had been leading up to this, but it seemed to mean more to Shinobu than just a way to forget about Douma’s plan for her.
(Y/n) knew she was in trouble the moment Shinobu came to her in the rain. Even then as she eagerly kissed Shinobu back and let herself be pushed into the gang leader’s bedroom, alarm bells sounded in her head as she broke all the rules she had so carefully placed for herself.
Don’t stray from the system.
Don’t form attachments with clients.
Certainly don’t sleep with clients.
And never ever ever fall in love.
~~~
Yeah, I’m in much too deep. (Y/n) thought to herself as she scrubbed, watching the water turn pink around her.
That had been over three years now, they had become lovers, moved in together, just decided to get engaged last week… it would have seemed like a happy ending if not for the dark cloud that still hung over their heads.
Still not a single helpful lead to find Douma after years of searching. In that time, (Y/n) had stopped eleven other attempts on Shinobu’s life. All the information she gleaned from the assassins completely contradicted each other, leaving Douma virtually untraceable. He definitely knew someone was trying to find him through these hired guns.
Some people had systems and knew how to stick to them it would seem, she thought bitterly.
Once she was clean, she drained and rinsed out the tub and put on some comfy clothes. She flopped onto the couch beside Shinobu and kissed her cheek.
Shinobu hummed, looking up from her phone’s food tracking app to appraise (Y/n)’s blood-free appearance.
“For as attractive as it is to see you splattered with the blood of our enemies, this is much better,” She kissed the assassin softly, “welcome home.”
“Happy to be home.” (Y/n) smiled wrapping her arms around Shinobu’s waist.
***
(Y/n) woke in the early afternoon, happy to see that Shinobu was still dozing beside her. She traced the colorful tattoos along Shinobu’s back with her eyes. An array of butterflies, dragonflies and flowers. Her gaze lingered on the largest butterfly that rested high against Shinobu’s shoulder blade. She had gotten that one done for Kanae. It was frustrating to think that they were no closer to avenging her death.
“I can feel you staring.” Shinobu grumbled, she took a deep breath as she flipped over. Her eyes remained closed as she tried to hold onto sleep, she slung her arm behind the assassin’s back, running her fingers up and down its length.
“Sleep another hour at least.”
“I’m supposed to meet a potential client at four.” (Y/n) reminded.
Shinobu hooked a leg around over (Y/n)’s hip to illustrate how much she disliked the reminder.
“I need to get ready,” she kissed the top of Shinobu’s head, “The sooner I’m done, the sooner I get back.”
“Fine.” Shinobu sighed and slipped her limbs off of (Y/n)’s body, cracking an eye open to watch her fiancée (Fiancée! She was still getting used to the word.) slip out of the bed.
(Y/n) hovered over her and gave her a quick kiss before pulling back.
“I love you, I’ll be back soon.”
“Love you too.” Shinobu mumbled through a sleepy smile. She buried her head into (Y/n)’s pillow and went back to sleep.
(Y/n) looked down at her adoringly for a moment more before getting ready for her meeting clear across the city.
***
(Y/n) went to sit at the chosen park bench overlooking the pond, and waited. If the client didn’t make an approach in another ten minutes, the window would close and she could leave, but a girl with long white hair came to sit beside her only a couple minutes later.
“What’s the job?” (Y/n) asked.
“My boss is particular. He’ll want to see you himself before he commits to your services.”
“Then he should have come.” (Y/n) shrugged.
Never let a stranger take you to a second location. That was just a general rule everyone should follow.
The girl reached into her pocket and (Y/n) pinned her wrist.
“Do not start pulling out cash here.” She warned.
“Listen, if my boss doesn’t get to talk to you, it’s my head on the line. You can search me, the car, hold a gun to my head on the way there, I don’t care. Just come.”
“Now I know it’s not that simple. If your boss won’t come here himself, he’s not going to like me knowing where he lives.”
“The location is off the grid. Even he’s never been there before.”
(Y/n) leaned against the bench and blew out a heavy sigh. This situation had bad idea written all over it. Yet something was telling her to go, and not just her conscious feeling bad for the girl playing messenger. She mentally apologized to Shinobu. This would probably take longer than she had previously estimated.
“What do I call you?”
“Call Me Daki.”
“Alright Daki, let’s get this over with.”
(Y/n) couldn’t believe she was doing this. She followed Daki to her car, noting the crisp license plates and fresh paint job. Whoever Daki’s boss was, was dangerously cunning and did not cut corners.
She’d need to be thinking three steps ahead or more with a guy like that. Curse her gut, she should have just listened to her brain.
Daki drove out of the city and into the mountains. That drive alone took three hours. Then she turned onto a gravel road and went on that for another half hour before stopping at a scenic outlook that looked like it stopped being maintained a decade ago. She parked next to the only other car in the lot. The only other car they had seen since they turned onto the gravel road.
“Get out.” Daki said, unbuckling her seatbelt and stepping out of the driver seat.
(Y/n) did, and found two men waiting on her side to pat her down and she tensed. She heard a laugh a ways off behind her.
“Don’t worry, you can keep your weapons. It’s just a formality, really.”
Against her better judgment, she listened to the man and allowed herself to be pat down. The men looked over her head shaking their heads at whoever was behind her.
“Aw, really? No phone?” The voice was closer now. “Why not?”
“Phones are traceable, personal.” (Y/n) replied simply, schooling her expression, she did not turn to face the man.
“Aren’t you smart. You haven’t even turned to face me yet. Afraid I won’t let you leave alive otherwise?”
“After all the effort you went through to get me out in the middle of nowhere? I’m considering it a possibility.”
The man giggled.
“You, I like you.”
A large, well manicured hand rested on (Y/n)’s shoulder.
“Seems like my sources are right, you are the real deal, and the real deal is what I need. Come now, turn for me, I want to see the face of the best assassin in the city, maybe even the country. I could never imagine killing such a fascinating human being.”
(Y/n) didn’t need to decide if she should turn, the man did it for her with surprising strength. She was met with vibrant eyes the color of rainbows, long hair so blonde it was more apt to call it white, but it seemed natural compared to Daki’s.
“Breathtaking,” the man crooned, “come sit, we have much to discuss.”
It was almost comical really, sitting down at a card thin folding table and a couple of camping chairs to discuss killing someone.
“Bring the cases, would you boys?”
The men that had frisked (Y/n) placed two hefty looking suitcases onto the table. Quite frankly, she was surprised the table hadn’t folded under their combined weight.
The men opened them with a motion from their boss and (Y/n) had to stop her eyebrows from noticeably shooting upward.
“Two million dollars.” The man boasted. “You may count it if you’d like.”
“I’m good. You haven’t even told me what the job is yet.”
“Ah, look at me jumping ahead! Of course, of course. I have to say you have me nervous. Looking at all this money without batting an eye… does ten million sound more appealing? Boys, pop the trunk.”
“That won’t be necessary. Target and specifications of how you want the job done first. Monetary negations last. That is, if we get that far.”
“So mean.”
The man pouted, though (Y/n) didn’t buy it for a second. For as expressive and eccentric as the man appeared to act, it all seemed to be… well, an act.
“I’ll weasel into your heart yet, my lady. Five million up front, five million after the deed is done. All you have to do, is kill this girl. Now, the photo is outdated unfortunately, she’s probably in her twenties by now…”
It took everything (Y/n) had to keep an impassive expression. She tilted her head and scrutinized the picture as if laying eyes on it the first time, but it would be the thirteenth time now that she had seen the same old, grainy photocopied school picture of Shinobu.
After years of dead ends, Douma had sought her out himself and was unknowingly propositioning her to kill her fiancée.
She could kill him, she could kill him right now. Except… his men were armed, Daki as well. She had seen the glint of guns in the forest as the sky turned orange. If she died killing Douma, Shinobu would bring her back to life and kill her herself.
She waited for Douma to finish his rambling, pretending to mull over how to proceed. She sighed and closed her eyes.
“Sorry, but I’ll have to decline.”
“Huh?” Douma blinked owlishly, “But why?”
“This either isn’t worth my time, or you are leaving important details out. I don’t understand why you would offer ten million for the death of a single woman.”
“Why does anyone do anything?” He moaned, slumping in his chair, “The Kochou Clan has been stealing my followers for years. Offering them money and resources when they have no where else to go, when all they have to do is come to me for salvation. They were really getting on my nerves.
Then they even took my dear Kotoha away from me when she went begging. Offering her the money she needed to take herself and her little boy far away without a trace. She thought me a monster, but what monster takes in a teen mother and expects nothing in return? She wasn’t very bright that one, so quick to overreact.“
Douma decided to lean in over the table instead, staring at (Y/n) with his big, empty eyes. Whatever Kotaha saw in this man, (Y/n) had no doubt she had every right to flee.
“I’ll admit, you’ll be the thirteenth assassin I will have had sent her way, thus the pay. Surely you would relish a challenge such as this. Is it still not worth your time?”
(Y/n) forced her voice to remain even, uninterested.
“No. I’m sorry. This just isn’t the job for me.”
“Why not?” Douma whined once more, flopping against the table.
“Because it sounds boring, frankly.” (Y/n) stood. “Will your friend over there drive me back to the city or do I have to find my own way back?” She bravely asked.
Douma giggled and shook his head in disbelief.
“You really won’t do it?”
(Y/n) fixed him with a stony look and let the question hang in the air.
“You are truly fascinating. I can’t get a read on you at all. Just what are you thinking in there? Who are you?”
“I’m sure you know as well as I, sharing that kind of information is the exact kind of thing that gets you killed.”
Douma bit down on his lower lip. Had he finally met his match? He wanted to know everything about this woman and he wanted to know now, but the chase would be good. He could wait.
“If you insist, then I guess we are done here,” he turned to Daki, “Take the lady where she wants to go, Daki. Get her back safely and you can keep your head.”
“Yes sir.”
As (Y/n) opened the passenger seat door and got into the car, Douma leaned down to look at her through the window and fogged the glass up with his breath. He drew a little heart in the steam and (Y/n) suppressed a shudder.
“I hope I’ll see you again soon, lucky number thirteen. I’ll be thinking about you.”
(Y/n) turned her head away and muttered to Daki.
“Could you just fucking drive already.”
“Shut up.”
Douma stepped away from the car and into his own. Before Daki could fully pull out (Y/n) could see him waving at her through his window.
Even now as Daki drove her back down the mountain she had to keep her cool. Had to act like she hadn’t just let Douma slip right through her fingers. She just had to keep chanting to herself that they had a face to go with the name. They would figure out how to proceed together.
“I can’t believe you turned him down like that.” Daki said for maybe the eighth time as she sped down the mountain. “You’re insane.”
“Can you tell me something Daki, does he usually let people who deny him get this far?” (Y/n) asked, watching the heart fade from the window.
Daki was quiet a minute, but shook her head.
“No, he doesn’t.”
Well, at least she had that going for her. He liked her for some fucked up reason.
When Daki got back to the city the sky was pitch dark and the street lamps shined like stars. So much for a quick meeting, but Shinobu would understand soon enough.
She directed Daki to the same park they had met and waited for her to drive off and waited twenty minutes more to monitor her surroundings and check her clothes for bugs and trackers.
Then she took the longest, twisty, back and forth path home that she possibly could. Traveling on foot, taking a bus several stops ahead of home, getting on a train to head in a totally different direction. She entered bars just to get swarmed in a sea of dancing bodies and disappear out the back door.
When all was said and done, it was about three in the morning when she allowed herself to slip into the backyard of her house and she almost had a heart attack when she found herself at the business end of one of Shinobu’s bodyguards’ pistol.
The young recruit apologized profusely upon realizing it was her and ushered her inside, warning her that Shinobu was not at all in a good mood before running back outside.
“Shinobu?” (Y/n) called out tentatively.
Now back at home, certain she hadn’t been followed or bugged, she felt exhausted.
She heard quick steps thudding against the carpet of the next room over and Shinobu came in like a charging bull.
“Where the fuck have you been? Quick meeting my ass, the sun has been down for hours!”
“Shinobu,” (Y/n) took Shinobu’s balled up fists in her hands, trying to hide the tremble in them, but of course Shinobu knew right away that something had happened and turned her hands over and held (Y/n) back.
“What, what is it?” She whispered hurriedly, matching (Y/n)’s volume.
“Shinobu, I found him.”
Shinobu froze. She needed no elaboration on who ‘he’ was.
(Y/n) sat her down and told her what had happened from the moment she met Daki to the moment she snuck into the back of their house.
Shinobu was deathly silent throughout (Y/n)’s story until she finished talking. She looked over the assassin, and pulled her steepled fingers away from her lips.
“Are you done?” She asked, voice low.
“Ye— ow!”
“What the fuck were you thinking?”Shinobu smacked (Y/n) again and would have gone for a third if (Y/n) hadn’t caught her wrist.
“He could have killed you!”
“But he didn’t and now we at least have a face to go with a name.”
“And now you are on his radar. Damn it, (Y/n) if I lose you too-“
“That’s not going to happen.”
“You don’t know that!”
(Y/n) pulled Shinobu into her arms, Shinobu hugged back, tugging at her shirt.
“We’re in this together just as before. Nothing has really changed. You have my back and I have yours. Whether he comes after us or we get to him first, it doesn’t matter. We’re gonna kill him, and then we’re gonna get married and not have to think about that bastard ever again.”
Shinobu breathed deeply and released a shaky exhale from her lungs, still holding the assassin as close as she could.
“He’s going to push harder now you know. I don’t imagine he’s the type to let an outsider of the cult see his face without some repercussions.” Shinobu murmured.
“He isn’t.” (Y/n) agreed. “But I think this is new territory for him. He just strayed from his system for the first time in who knows how long. He’s opening himself up to making mistakes. He’s just a man, he’s only human.”
Shinobu pulled back slightly to look her in the eyes. She stroked (Y/n)’s cheek and gave a smile that did not reach her eyes.
“I hope you’re right.”
***
The next few weeks were tense. Everything seemed to go on as normal but the couple knew better than to think they were in the clear.
The gang was put on high alert. Whether it was to search covertly for Douma’s location, providing protection for their boss and her bride to be, or making sure their investments and businesses kept running like a well-oiled machine, everyone was busy.
Shinobu would not let (Y/n) go out to take any jobs, worried that she would cross paths with Douma again. It was bad enough spending years with a bounty on her own head, but the thought of (Y/n) being in danger was unbearable.
She knew that (Y/n)’s profession had never been safe, of course she did, but Douma and his followers were not an average gang. It was a cult. They treated him like a god. Such devotion Shinobu was sure, was built on a foundation of fear rather than respect. And fear made people desperate, unpredictable. They would do anything, even if it was to their detriment, if they thought it would please him.
Shinobu felt like she was playing an intense game of Battleship. With all the information passing hands, she was sure it was only a matter of time before someone got a hit.
She closed her laptop, leaned back against the headboard of the bed and massaged her face in her hands. Beside her, (Y/n) slept. She looked down at her, smiling faintly.
They were meant to go to one of the warehouses tonight in the cover of darkness to deal with some complications, but Shinobu didn’t want to wake her since it had been hard for either of them to sleep well recently.
She pulled the blanket more snuggly over (Y/n)’s shoulders and quietly slipped out of bed. She left the safe house they had been moved to a week prior and she was flanked by guards as she entered the backseat of her car. Her guards filed in around her and they drove off of the property and down the dark, rural road.
The drive to the warehouse was uneventful. They rolled up to the building and the driver parked, turned the car off,
And was promptly shot in the head through the windshield.
The guard in the backseat with Shinobu pushed her down and took out his gun, shooting in the direction the bullet had come from while the guard in the passenger seat attempted to start the car up again so they could escape.
Unfortunately they were already surrounded, and before Shinobu knew it, she was being dragged out of the car, soaked in the blood of her people. She struggled against the hold fruitlessly until she was dropped unceremoniously to the ground in front of a pair of shiny black shoes.
The floodlights turned on with a loud mechanical twang and Shinobu’s jaw was tilted upward with a large, smooth hand. She was met with rainbow eyes and a sharp, sparkling smile.
Shinobu grit her teeth, blood boiling. So this was the man responsible for ordering the death of her sister.
“What a fire in your eyes,” Douma chuckled, turning Shinobu’s head in his hand until she yanked her head away. Douma giggled.
“I’ve been having others chasing after you for quite sometime. I’m flabbergasted by how easy this little operation of mine has gone. I guess that old saying is right. If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself.” He said with delight, but then he pouted.
“But where is the assassin, your fiancée?”
“Go fuck yourself.” Shinobu hissed.
“So vulgar. Come on now, I don’t want to hurt her. She fascinates me in ways I have never felt. When my sources had found that she was engaged, and to you no less, it was not a good feeling.”
Douma motioned for his followers to bring Shinobu to her feet.
“I’ve waited for your head for years, I can wait a little longer to slice you open if it means (Y/n) will come to me… Ooo, hand that here, Gyutaro.”
Shinobu’s phone had fallen out of her pocket in the scuffle and the man Douma had addressed picked it up and tossed it to him.
“This is going to be so much fun.” Douma grinned.
***
(Y/n) awoke with a start and felt around the bed for her phone, frowning as she realized Shinobu was no longer resting with her. She managed to find the phone under her pillow and was bewildered to find that Shinobu was attempting to FaceTime her.
She sat up and turned on the lamp on the bedside table, then she accepted the call.
“There she is!”
(Y/n)’s blood ran cold and Douma kept talking.
“I understand why you turned me down now. Your impassiveness in the face of a man asking you to kill someone you are supposed to love… was that an act or did you truly feel nothing. I need to know.”
“Where is Shinobu?” (Y/n) seethed, gripping her phone tightly in her hand.
“Alive, for now. See for yourself!” Douma flipped the camera onto Shinobu, feet tied, hands behind her back presumably tied as well. She was splattered with blood, but (Y/n) didn’t think it was hers. She was roughed up, but alive just as Douma promised.
“Say hi, Kochou!” Douma waved cheerfully off camera.
“(Y/n), you stay far away from here, do you hear me?”
“What a rude thing to say!” Douma said aghast, flipping the camera back around, “I’m sorry, (Y/n). You’re fiancée has been so grumpy since we’ve met up. I’m sure she doesn’t mean it.”
His eyes looked cold as ice despite his easygoing expression.
“We’re waiting for you at the warehouse. I’m sure you know which one. If you want to keep her alive, get here within the next hour. We have a lot to discuss. Bye-bye!”
The call disconnected and (Y/n) launched out of bed to prepare her weapons. If Douma thought this was going to be some friendly little get together, he was dead wrong.
“Surround the place. Be discreet and for the love of god you better have them taken care of by the time I have to act or we’re all going to be dead.” She spoke hurriedly over the phone while she snapped a full magazine into a second handgun.
“It’ll be done. Good luck.”
“I’ll need it. Thanks Tomioka, consider your bill paid in full.” She hung up, strapped her weapons in, and ran to the garage. She threw her leg over the Ducati and turned the key. It wouldn’t be a quiet arrival, but she had wasted too much time already. She needed something fast and small to weave through any possible traffic.
She rocketed through the streets to the warehouse. Douma’s people took aim at her, but Douma held his hand up, motioning them not to shoot, but simply keep their guards up.
“What an entrance!” He clapped.
“Where is she?” (Y/n) tromped over in Douma’s direction, until she heard a couple guns get cocked by itchy trigger fingers.
“Inside with her little worker bees, safe and sound I assure you.” He grinned, “Come, come, let’s talk.”
“Anything you have to say, you can say it right here.”
“Why the rush? Didn’t you miss me? I thought we had a spark before.”
“You kidnapped my fiancée, killed good people and you’re holding more hostage. I’m not in the mood for pleasantries over tea.”
Douma blinked, then he looked behind him to a beautifully set table, then back at (Y/n) with a pout.
“But it’ll grow cold.”
(Y/n) took her time looking around. There were fourteen cultists milling about that she could see, checking the perimeter or watching her interaction with their leader, and standing outside the warehouse.
She could only imagine more were inside watching the hostages and she had planned on more hanging out in the surrounding woods. If things started popping off outside, she worried what orders the cultists inside might have been given.
“I’m cold. Bring it inside if you want to have tea with me so badly.” She snapped, nearly making Douma swoon.
He looked behind him and with a snap of his fingers, two of the people began moving the table inside. Then he gestured for (Y/n) to walk ahead.
Upon entering the warehouse her eyes scanned for Shinobu immediately and found her propped against the back wall. Their eyes met, and Shinobu looked furious as well as scared, but she did not speak up. Not wanting to escalate the situation.
The warehouse workers looked shaken, but otherwise fine. There were only five of Douma’s followers here including the two that brought in the table. A much more manageable number. Giyuu would still need time before he’d be ready to signal, but when he did, she was fairly confident that if she strategized her blows, she could kill the armed cultists before they could think to take aim at Shinobu or the workers.
She sat down in the seat that would allow her to keep an eye on Shinobu and the workers, but unfortunately that left her back facing the doors. It was a risk she was willing to take.
Douma sat across from her looking very pleased with himself and motioned for one of his followers to make his tea.
“How do you prefer yours?” He asked.
“It’s fine as is. Tell me what it is
you want from me.”
Douma sighed dreamily and rested his chin in his hand.
“I think I have a solution that everyone will favor.”
(Y/n) waited from him to continue. Subtly looking just passed his head to see Shinobu making use of the attention being off of her. She seemed to have found something to work at her bindings with. (Y/n) rolled her eyes at Douma, bringing her attention away from Shinobu so she wouldn’t be caught. Douma continued you talk, seemingly none the wiser.
“You stay by my side and work for me, and I’ll allow Miss Kochou to live against my own wishes and she may continue her work with ninety-five percent of her yearly profits reserved for me, but should you fail me,” he made a cutting motion over his neck and playfully stuck out his tongue, “I’ll make her death so much worse than a simple bullet through the brain like what her dear sister got.” He giggled.
“See, I can be reasonable.”
“And you think I’ll agree just like that?”
“I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t. I’m being very generous. I’ve never felt like this before. I’m breaking all my rules for you.” He said, sliding his hand across the table in an attempt to rest it on top of (Y/n)’s. Before he could, a thunderous bang of a gunshot rang from outside.
(Y/n) flipped the table and pulled a gun, firing it in rapid succession to kill the man beside Shinobu fumbling for his gun and the two walking amongst the kneeling warehouse workers.
She hissed as a bullet grazed her arm, dodging just before it could do any real damage. She rolled and took another shot at the remaining men covering their eerily calm boss. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Shinobu hacking away at the ropes on her ankles with a jagged piece of metal.
The doors were thrown open, but (Y/n) could see it was someone from Douma’s cult. She aimed for the fuse box, casting the warehouse in darkness, causing some of the warehouse workers to shriek.
She ran in the direction Shinobu had been in and whispered her name, searching.
“Here.” Shinobu whispered back.
(Y/n) reached her hand out and found Shinobu’s she squeezed it before sliding her gun into Shinobu’s hand and pulled out another.
“Are you okay? All untied?”
“Yeah, what’s the plan?”
“I hear ‘em!”
Bullets rained from the opening between the doors and (Y/n) used the light from the doorway to shoot at their silhouettes.
“Tomioka’s group is our backup. We have to hunt down Douma before he escapes.”
“Really, you called Tomioka?” Shinobu had the nerve to complain, shooting at another silhouette that was taking aim.
“I didn’t exactly have time to give everyone a courtesy call. Come on!” (Y/n) pulled on Shinobu’s free hand and stumbled through the dark building in the direction they had last seen Douma and his followers go.
They could hear footsteps clanging against metal steps overhead. Not wanting to waste any time, (Y/n) aimed above her head and took a shot, causing someone to yell. There was a scuffle and a body was thrown to the ground, making room for Douma and his remaining man to keep running.
(Y/n) and Shinobu kept following as best they could from the ground listening closely to the clattering feet above. As they continued further into the bowels of the warehouse, the steps above became more echoey and it made it harder to know which way to go.
Then the metal clangs stopped, causing Shinobu and (Y/n) to freeze.
Then there was a mechanical humming noise, a generator presumably. Row by row, the lights turned back on, causing the couple to shield their eyes from the sudden brightness.
“Peek-a-boo!” Douma sang, aiming a shot at Shinobu.
(Y/n) pushed Shinobu, both narrowly missing the bullets that came their way. They took shelter behind a couple concrete support beams.
“I think you’ve upset me, (Y/n), I really think you have.” Douma called peering down from the catwalk.
“I’ve been nothing but accommodating to you.”
“You’re delusional.” (Y/n) yelled back, tossing a fresh magazine to Shinobu.
“I’m going to have to retract my previous offer. I think Miss Shinobu will have an awful time now because of your obstinance.”
“Oh go fuck yourself!” Shinobu fired three shots, she clipped Douma’s follower in the side, but missed Douma completely. She quickly took cover before either of the men above could shoot her.
“Such a mouth! Was the rest of your family so tasteless?” Douma taunted.
Before Shinobu could do something more brash, a volley of bullets came from the direction of the main entrance.
There was a millisecond where (Y/n) thought that this was going to be the end, but then she heard Tomioka barking orders and a wave of relief washed over her.
Giyuu’s gang shot out the chains that held the catwalk, causing Douma and his follower to fall to the ground, not far enough to kill them, but they certainly had broken bones.
Someone shot the follower dead before he could lunge for his gun and (Y/n) shot twice, once to shoot Douma in the hand and again to blast the gun he had dropped away.
Giyuu signaled his group to hold fire as (Y/n) and Shinobu approached Douma together, guns aimed straight at his head.
Douma tried to move, but the fall must have done something to his back or pelvis, as he could do little more than raise his torso up on his elbows. Blood oozed from the top of his head, running down his face, but he kept a smile all the same, seemingly more fascinated by the state he was in than fearful.
“Am I… dying?” Douma chuckled disbelievingly, then it became a small coughing fit.
“Looks like it.” (Y/n) replied bluntly.
“How is this happening? I always get what I want… I’m a god.” He didn’t sound angry or indignant. Just mildly bewildered.
“You’re a man lower than dirt who did everything he could to stay hidden in shadow. Having your followers do all the dirty work.” Shinobu sneered, pressing the barrel of her gun to Douma’s forehead.
“I don’t know what went through your mind that made you think you were suddenly invincible after all this time, but I’m ever so glad for your hubris.”
Douma giggled, Shinobu dug the gun harder against his skull.
“You two,” he wheezed, his hazy eyes switching between Shinobu and (Y/n), “you two make me feel things I’ve never felt. I wish I had a name to put with this strange sensation. I’ve been chasing it since I met you, (Y/n). Perhaps one day, we’ll meet again in hell? Start fresh?”
“Shinobu, you can take your shot whenever you want, love.” (Y/n) said, ignoring Douma. “Unless you want to finish him some other way, but I’d be quick about it. He’s fading fast.”
“I’ve dreamed of this opportunity and I’ve probably imagined him dying a thousand different ways.” Shinobu muttered.
“But I’m tired. A nobody like him doesn’t deserve some grand, notable death. A quick bullet to the brain to avenge my dear sister. Then he shall be cremated and buried in an unmarked grave. Perhaps a scrapyard or a desert… somewhere desolate. I don’t want his ashes to dare nourish a single seed. I want no part of him feeding back into the cycle of life in any capacity.”
“Whatever you like my dear. I’ll see to it personally.” (Y/n) assured.
Douma took an intake of air, but Shinobu didn’t care to hear anymore of whatever he had to say. She took her shot, and it was over.
(Y/n) wrapped her good arm around Shinobu’s shoulders and placed a soft kiss against her hair. Shinobu leaned against her in turn, a shuttered exhale escaped her lips.
The Eternal Paradise Cult’s ‘God’ lay broken on the concrete, never to rise again.
***
That night had been a massacre. There was no way around that. Fortunately all of the warehouse workers survived, but the trauma they faced would undoubtedly follow them for possibly the rest of their lives. Shinobu gave them a dragons’ share of money for their ordeal, but she knew it would only go so far.
There was also the matter of the gang members she had lost. That had hit particularly hard. They were good people. She knew that the money she gave those families would never fill the whole that had been left, but it was all she had to give along with her sincerest apologies.
Then there were the cultists. Though they had followed Douma’s word, they were still human. Naïve, lonely humans with nowhere to turn. Shinobu commissioned a memorial to be built in place of the warehouse. It took a lot of research to find the names of all those that had been lost, but to Shinobu it had been worth it. It was purely for them. Douma’s name and visage were not included.
She had read a news clipping about the surviving cultists who had been left behind at the compound. Their feelings in the matter were… complicated. Shinobu could sympathize with that.
Then there was Douma himself. The authorities never found his body, obviously. He was cleaned up and discreetly cremated. Shinobu left the ashes to (Y/n) to take care of. She didn’t want to know where his ashes were as a final insult. All she needed to know was the he was a forgotten pile of dust in an unforgiving landscape and that would be good enough for her.
And as good a job as Shinobu and Giyuu’s gangs did cleaning things up and squaring things away, the authorities simply could not let a mass casualty event such as that go unchecked.
Tomioka managed to duck under the radar, but the remaining cultists made sure to drag Shinobu’s name through the mud. Again, she didn’t grudge them that, but it did make things a little difficult.
She liquidated what assets she could, giving what she couldn’t to her most trusted allies who she knew would carry on her mission, her sister’s dream.
And then she fled the country.
Shinobu took another sip of the refreshingly sweet cocktail she had purchased, sitting comfortably in a beach chair under the shade of a palm tree while she people watched.
She heard someone plop into the vacant chair beside her with a tired groan and she smiled, tilting her sunglasses to rest on the top of her head. She had been waiting for (Y/n) to make the flight to their new home all week.
“So where did you put him?”
“Oh you know, somewhere indistinguishable from the scorching sand I buried him under. Didn’t leave the urn. Wouldn’t even know how to find the spot again in a billion years.” (Y/n) shared with a yawn. “Ugh, this jetlag is killing me.”
“Aww, my poor baby.” Shinobu cooed, offering (Y/n) some of her drink. “Think you’ll be be better in time for the wedding or should we push it back a couple days?”
“What? No way, I’m tired of waiting.” (Y/n) stretched back against the chair, the scar on her arm poking out of the sleeve of her t-shirt. “I’m ready to be Mrs… whatever fake name we got saddled with.”
“Me too.” Shinobu hummed in agreement.
“It is nice here, don’t you think?”
“How would you know, you just got here and you can barely keep your eyes open.” Shinobu joked.
“Any place I get to be with you is nice.” (Y/n) yawned again, unable to keep her eyes open any longer.
“Aren’t you sweet.” Shinobu laughed. She watched (Y/n) sleep for a bit before turning her attention back to the surf, feeling as light as the foam rolling in on the waves.

My Predictions on who the Devil is or more so who I want it to be
Tumblr media
LISTEN PLEASE HEAR ME OUT. We have Roddy going around claiming that he’s Adam’s Bestfriend, as well as MJF. But why don’t we bring back someone who also had a very close relationship with Adam Cole?
We have Adam appear at World’s End for MJF, have MJF win against Joe WITHOUT cheating this time. And after the match everything goes dark and the Devil comes out, the Devil attacks MJF; having Joe already left the arena and Adam being forced to watch his tag partner being harmed once again without him being able to help. After beating down on Max, the Devil faces Adam and removes his mask. Revealing my wife Kyle O’Reily. We go down the angle where Kyle is angry at Adam for choosing Max over Roddy when they had been together longer than he has with Max. (Referencing to their Undisputed Era/Elite days; ofc without Bobby this time💔). This spirals into another heart breaking and sob inducing story between Adam and Max; where Adam is conflicted between choosing the Undisputed Elite and Max once more, as both sides keep pressuring themselves onto Adam.
Eventually it comes to the point where Adam is forced to choose between them, at first appearing to Choose Max over them; before pulling the same shit he did to Roderick on NXT. Betraying Max, and reuniting the Undisputed Elite officially on AEW. This would lead ofc to a title match for Kyle O’Reily and Maxwell; with Roderick & Adam by his side (maybe the Kingdom if they still w Roderick at this time, we could replace Bobby with them ig). This would leave Maxwell all alone, and realize that everyone is truly against him and that he has no one left (since the Acclaimed basically said they wanted nothing to do with him too). So this betrayal of Adam and reunification of the Undisputed Elite will lead to the demise of Adamjf (when Cole gets better) AND the return of heel Max. Cus as much as I love babyface Maxwell, I need the douchebag he once was back asap.
Overall, if it really is Kyle O’Reily and I somehow manifested this into reality I think the adamjf story would be one of the greatest stories told tbh. I just really need the closure for them. And I rlly just want Kyle O’Reily back, I miss my wife💔💔. I’m not that good at making stories so I hoped this made sense💀 or atleast sounds a lil realistic
Tumblr media
And here is the one that’s most likely to be true, but I already know the twitter fucks are gonna be pissed ab 💀💀
This is mostly just do to all the speculations and ppl (me) making fun of the whole real glass situation at All In, but what’s actually insane is the amount of glass was actually used and broken throughout the beatings people have taken with the Devil’s henchmen😭 like, Anthony being thrown through a glass window, Max having a glass bottle broken over him, and Hangman being dropped into a car windshield. Absolutely insane at how much glass they are using, that it’s honestly making me wanna believe that they are purposely using real glass as a symbol for Jack Perry.
Story wise I have no clue as to how they are gonna get this to work, and how they’d continue with it if they do reveal it to be Jack. Cause I know a lot of ppl are gonna be let down (not me I’ll just be happy my gf came back from war), but if it is Jack I hope tk knows what he is doing. And I HOPE that they can actually turn this into an interesting feud if this becomes reality 🙏🙏
But he could also just return and reignite the feud between him and Christian as well. But idk!!! I just need him back💔
