Love Bites: Chapter 8
Series Masterlist
“I’m gonna do it.” Y/N told Tammy, as she walked into the dressing room. It was their first show in France and after her conversation with Joe, Y/N knew what she had to do.
“What are you doing?” Tammy looked up from her magazine at the pacing lead singer.
“I’m gonna break up with Doug.” Y/N stopped her pacing as she looked over at her best friend. Tammy immediately started smiling.
“When?”
“I don’t know. I don’t think I can do it over the phone so I will probably have to wait until we go back home.”
“But that’s months away.” Tammy pointed out, earning a sigh.
“I know. If I do it before then though, I can’t guarantee that he won’t throw my stuff out.”
“It’s a shame we don’t have a break before we go to America.” Tammy told her.
“There’s nothing that we can do about that. When the tour ends I’ll break up with him.”
“And when you do, my front door is open for you for as long as you need.” Tammy reassured her.

The shows in France went well. With every day that passed, Ultraviolet were settling into the tour life and enjoying every show. Joe and Y/N were still staying away from each other but it wasn’t as awkward as before. They would be polite to one another and engage in conversations, but as soon as the two were alone, one would leave the room.
Y/N didn’t know if she could trust herself around the Def Leppard frontman. Every day that she spent with the man, or even just in the same room as him, she found herself falling more and more for him. She was sure that everyone around her could tell but she couldn’t bring herself to care.
Until the tour ended and she broke up with Doug, she knew that she couldn’t do anything about her growing feelings. She just hoped that Joe would be willing to wait for her.
Little did she know, Joe was having similar thoughts about her. After he found her outside the hotel, he couldn't keep his mind off of her. He was pleased that she was finally going to break up with Doug but at the same time, that didn’t mean she would want to pursue anything with him. Yes they kissed but that didn’t mean that she would want to be with him.
Afterall, the woman would only have just gotten out of a serious relationship, an unhealthy one at that. Joe knew that he couldn’t date her when she was in such a fragile state, no matter how much he wanted her.

A week after they arrived in France, it was time for the two bands to travel to America. It was a nearly eleven hour flight and almost all the way throughout, Johnny wouldn’t shut up. Y/N could tell that all of Def Leppard, aside from Rick who was asleep, was getting annoyed along with Benji.
Y/N however, couldn’t bring herself to become agitated at the excited drummer, afterall, it was their first time to America and Y/N was feeling ecstatic as well, she just hid it better and kept all her excitement inside.
Joe sat opposite Y/N after Tammy and Sav had made him. The two lead singers assumed that it was their bassists’ idea of a joke and they didn’t bother to argue with them. Both of them spent the flight talking quietly, trying to drown out Johnny’s incessant talking. It felt like things were back to normal after their kiss. It was as if nothing had happened between them.
Johnny eventually wore himself out after five hours, much to everyone’s relief and the plane fell silent for a moment. Y/N decided that now would be a good time to talk to Joe seriously.
“Thank goodness he is finally asleep.” Y/N joked earning a hushed laugh from Joe.
“I wasn’t going to say anything so I am glad you did.” Joe told her, the dimple on his left cheek was more prominent than ever.
“I’m breaking up with Doug when we get home.” Y/N told Joe bluntly, earning a stunned look in response.
“You are?” Joe asked, happy that she was really going to do it.
“Yeah. You helped me realise that he isn’t who I should be with.”
Joe felt himself swallow at her words. He couldn’t help the way his heart started beating faster and he could only hope that she wasn’t able to notice.
“Well, I’m glad I could help.” Joe told her, his throat not used to the sudden dryness that had overcome it.
“Did you mean what you said the other day?” Y/N asked him, deciding that there was no way back now. “That you would be there for me?”
Joe gently smiled at her, taking her hand in his and rubbing his thumb over the back.
“Every word.”

They finally arrived in America. Both bands were booked into a hotel in Georgia so that they could all get some sleep before their first American show the next day, however, they all found themselves in Joe and Sav’s room. None of them could sleep from the never fading excitement of the tour. They had all had plenty of sleep on the plane and the time difference had messed with their sleep schedules.
Everyone was either laying on one of the two beds in the room, or on the floor, but they were all slightly too drunk to care. Y/N didn’t drink very often so she found herself getting quite drunk very quickly.
Lucky, she didn’t end up vomiting but instead passed out on Joe’s lap. The man just ran his fingers through her hair, lulling her into a deeper slumber. He soon noticed a pair of eyes on him and turned to his drummer.
“What?” He questioned him in a hushed tone as not to wake the sleeping girl on his lap.
“You’re in love with her aren’t you.” Rick spoke knowingly.
Joe went to protest but was interrupted.
“Yes.” Sav stated, looking over between his two bandmates. “There’s no point denying it mate.”
Joe didn’t even bother responding, he couldn’t deny their claims. He just wanted to enjoy holding the woman on his lap. He didn’t know if he would be able to do it again.

ok RIP i am very late but without further ado let's get it, i'm ines and this is kim noeul who tbh was a poor, easily forgettable girl in hs and now is one of the preeminent young novelists in south korea! under the cut here i'll get into a little more but pls like this and i'll def hit u up for plotting!
ok so first of all: pisces sun/taurus moon/aquarius rising
now onto like bg stuff so she's born to two teenaged parents right
and what's wild is her parents genuinely really love each other and like get married and noeul has a little sister who's like 9 now which is crazy
also bc a 16 year old girl named her like her actual name is noelle not noeul but like she's let everyone just assume it's noeul bc it's easier than explaning that her mom thought noelle would be a trendy name
but anyways having two teenaged parents doesn't like set you up the best financially so she lived with her parents and grandparents for a while when she was growing up and evenutally her parents moved out of her paternal grandparents place only to be living in a shitty half basement apartment with noeul bc like again how far can two high school grads from poor families with a whole ass child get in seoul
and tbh like bro noeul loves her parents but she DEF kinda resented them for being poor growing up and like so combined with this hatred of her situation paired with being a smart girl with a lot of drive she worked REALLY hard to get into shinhwa
only kinda realized that getting into shinhwa didn't mean a ton in terms of social standing bc u know she's still fucking broke and tbh rather than bullied i don't imagine people particularly even took that much notice of her bc she kept to herself a lot with like insecurity bc she was v obviously poorer than everyone and stuff and probs had a few friends but not a lot
tho lmao wildly and fully relating to her secret despite being this smart girl who worked hard to get her scholarship and school was v important to her she got pregnant right at the tale end of her last year at shinhwa and actually had to delay going to college the following year bc u know PREGNANCY
and there's like a lot of stigma that comes with being a single mother in korea and shit so like tbh did she want to keep her daughter? yes of course but like she didn't have the financials bc atp it's her, her parents, and her little sister living in a shitty little apartment and she literally shares a room with a 3 year old at the time, and then like she wants to go and better her life and stuff and it's hard to do when everyone judges you for being a single mom and it's not fair on the child so she makes the hard choice to give up her daughter for adoption and then go back to school
and like ok she goes to ewha womans and she does well there too bc again very determined to do well in life and all but like i think giving her daughter up fr had a sense of guilt, regret, and honestly depression that she never really expected so like she struggled with that and she ended up writing this story about it for a creative writing class and her teacher was like "hold up this is kind of good have u ever considered writing it into something more?"
and with her teacher's help and encouragement she did just that and ended up writing what would become a very popular novel about a young woman who gets pregnant, gives up her child, and navigating life through the tragedy over it. tbh it's kinda in the style of kim jiyoung, born 1982
and even cooler u know later it gets turned into a movie that's scheduled to come out later this year and fr like idk shit turned her whole life around like writing about the biggest misery and regret of her life gave her the money she always craved and a bit of notoriety and everything is cool and all but like on the other side of things people fr think the story is just a novel and are like "wow how did you come up with the concept?" and for obvi reasons like noeul is def more comfortable with letting them thinking it's all fictional
and yeah so ngl life has fr turned around really recently for her and it's really nice but like rip now the dawn of realization is setting in that like... people are gonna expect another novel and how is she supposed to provide that like...

Hi Kay! Okay so you amazing person that you are surprised me with THREE new chapters this morning. So so so i have a lot of reactions!
First, can I say that I am so relieved Will and Bex resolved this issue SO MATURELY!?!? There was communication! Introspection! Respect for boundaries! Consideration of another's perspective! And family 🥺 i am so grateful they have such a healthy relationship despite enemy number one ass hat pat!

When Will was talking about his terrible childhood experience with ass hat pat, i clutched my phone so tight! I was ready to march thru the screen to beat this man down! Defend will! And then Jay, being the awesome supportive brother he is, took charge. He asked Will how he could support him! And then he marched over and cut that cancerous asshole out of their lives! Also, i loved how you threw in some content demonstrating what a good influence chris has been!
But also, you were so sneaky!!! What is beau doing eating brunch with Cindy and Chris? Do they also think, like Jay, that there is something between Beau and Bex? Are they performing sneaky interrogation? Are they sneaky nosing around to learn about Bex's music career? And what did you mean the recording wasnt the major career change? Is it even music related? Or is it more about her writing? 🤔 inquiring minds want to know! On the edge of my seat!

Re: Bex and Will - right??? They've come so far! I'm happy they've built such a good foundation with each other.
Oooh, Connor - I love him. I think that comes through, lol! Next installment is going to be a bit rough on the Rhodestead front bc I will be including what happens between them in canon during that episode arc, BUT it'll have better context and a better resolution because that is the name of the game! And then we can return to our regularly scheduled romance dance shenanigans.
The Pat stuff was rough. It felt right for Jay to take the lead on that part though - we're not done with Pat, but thankfully, we're done with him for now. I'm glad you thought it all went well with the Will sections. I was trying to tread carefully with it all and was a bit nervous about that section coming across how I hoped it would.
(And yes! I like how it's coming out more and more as Jay gets older what a difference having the Herrmanns in his life has made.)
LOL! The Beau thing just happened. I was writing and it was like BOOM - oh, Beau's having brunch? When Cindy and Chris talked to him at karaoke, that was absolutely a fact-finding mission, but Chris being Chris, gets into that conversation with him about things they can do with Molly's to attract more people (patio, live music) and Chris being CHRIS is like...I like this guy. I'm keeping him. Beau is legitimately over at the Herrmann's having brunch because Chris has adopted him and they're talking business. The man loves making dreams a reality! He and Beau are going to become bros and Bex is going to be EXTREMELY WTF about it, lol
The career news is not music related - although stuff is going to happen on the music front (just in later installments.) She's going to get news on her graphic novel soon. :D
Yes, Matt and Kelly FINALLY caught on, lol! The pool is slowly growing...
Is there any other way to survive an outdoor event than the Bex method?? Especially if it brings Mouse by to hang out. :D

I have a request, FNAF security breach x reader
Basically reader is known as Punkrock Fredbear and Nightmare, kinda of like a Siamese twin scenario, they are based of Nightmare and Nightmare Fredbear.
They perform more heavy metal songs and are know to play the drums, they are very tall, towering over the daycare attendent (who is said to be at least 9'0 ft tall)
They didn't get corrupted by the virus and ends up helping Gregory and Freddy, and they're grateful for that because reader is disturbingly strong.
How would they're relationship be with the glamrocks, daycare attendents, Gregory and Vanessa?

Glamrock Freddy
A bear just like him?? That’s cool.
Though he didn’t expect Nightbear to be a twin animatronic resembling edgy bears with sharp teeth, punk attire, and a massive height.
But the kids love them! Only because there’s so much of their form to look at--from the belts around their arms to the different colored eyes to the skull painted across their torso. It’s all so fascinating.
Even so, their appearance worried Freddy during SB’s events...when he thought they were gonna be corrupted too.
But, ironically (and thankfully), they’re not. And they choose to help their fellow bear and Gregory survive the night.
They’re scary strong, as seen when they crush STAFF bots and fences that get in the way, which he’s grateful for.
Gregory
This dude is shitting bricks fr.
Usually he doesn’t care but this animatronic’s appearance makes him feel legit terrorized.
Has he shot them with the Fazblaster or Fazcam accidentally? Yes.
But he realizes his mistake and doesn’t hit both of their faces.
He’d rather be with both bears at the same time, though the one time it had to be him and Nightbear two was when they got trapped somewhere and had to pass a group of Endos.
He nearly screamed as they grabbed him--only to hoist him on their gold-plated shoulder as an Endo approached.
And all they did was push past it with ease, knocking over the rest of the group like tin cans.
It made Gregory chuckle a little. Now he’s not afraid anymore and honestly thinks they’re badass.
Monty
Heavy rock/metal was definitely a taste he and Nightbear had in common, even bonding over it and becoming best friends and performing duets together.
But after being corrupted, he only sees them as trying to be better than him: in strength, in teeth (yeah he’s jealous of their chompers), and in songs.
Literally everything they do he thinks he can be better at (except growing two heads, of course).
Will def try to one-up themat every opportunity, even when they reassure him not everything’s a competition and he is already great on his own.
Basically turns into Roxanne, esp when he gets broken in SB, as he directs all his anger at Nightbear, thinking they’re gonna outshine him and replace him.
It gets so bad he attacks them, hoping to get a punch throw at him in return. Yet..they don’t.
He utterly despises them and their stupid twin heads. Too weak and cowardly to use their full strength, he thinks.
But deep down he doesn’t know where all this resentment is coming from..
Glamrock Chica
Would prob be the most skittish around Nightbear out of all of the gang.
Big, scary, twin-headed bear who looks like they’ll eat her for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, and snack is all she thinks about.
In reality they’re pretty chill around her, though they sometimes tease her and call her “Chicken Little” affectionately.
Freddy sees nothing wrong with their looks and would innocently stand by them like “don’t be shy, Chica, say hello!” while they creepily grin.
It’s strange when they see her totally unbothered by their presence after she gets corrupted. Always preoccupied with garbage and bolting at the slightest scent of pizza or sight of Gregory.
It’s sad. And they don’t wanna hurt her and end up making her more afraid of them, so they’ll stay out of the way unless she hurts Gregory.
Roxanne
Tbh she’d square up to prove she’s not intimidated by their size. Like throw playful punches here and there (that just feel like plushies being thrown at them).
She also digs heavy rock music, being Nightbear’s #1 hype-woman when they come on the stage.
Unfortunately they’re too heavy to use the go-karts, but they watch her races and cheer her on when she wins.
All in all a decent friendship, up until she gets corrupted and they’re not.
She’ll only lightly interrogate them on where Gregory is--but grows more desperate as the night passes.
At that point she begs for answers, not caring if she sounded “pathetic” for needing help.
She just had to win.
Yet they don’t help her at all, keeping their promise to Freddy and Gregory, and she feels betrayed.
Sun
Originally he had no idea a non-Glamrock existed until a child proudly showed him their drawing.
He was disturbed to see a two-headed black and yellow bear with sharp teeth and tons of spikes.
Nervously he asked who this was suppose to be and they just said “Nighty-Bear”.
He then asks an employee and they decide to bring the punkrock star themselves to personally visit him---only for Sun to immediately scream and dive into the ballpit in terror.
They’re so freakishly tall. Towering over him!
It took ages to coax him out so they can properly say hello. But after that, he was still anxious to be around them (not bc he’s scared but rather bc they could be dangerous to kids) and shooed them out of the daycare.
He wouldn’t see them at all during SB’s events but that’s probably for the best.
Moon
He’s made kids sob just by looking at them.
But when Nightbear is literally towering over him and a tiny toddler with their teeth bared...they look all starry-eyed and coo as they touch their spiky wristbands.
It makes absolutely no sense.
Sun fears them and Moon envies them so...yeah a friendship is essentially nonexistent.
Once he tried asking Nightbear if they wanted to play the part of the “boogeyman”, and they went along with it.
But the tipping point was when the children found more comfort in them than Moon...and since then he’s resented them.
So when the glitch gets to him, he doesn’t hold back his hatred, stalking them when the lights go out and making it very clear he despises them, thinking they’re gonna take away all the children.
To protect him they had no choice but to break Moon, shattering his limbs so he couldn’t chase after them or Gregory.
Vanessa
Of course, she gave Nightbear the same orders to find Gregory but doesn’t know they’re secretly helping him.
If she questions them, all they do is stare and intimidate her, telling her to be more patient.
But she’s just tired of this bs and remains unfazed by their scariness, insisting they kept searching.
They did try warning her the others are might hurt him since they’re not acting right, though she brushes it off.
Like Gregory she wonders why someone made them look so freaky but says nothing.
Sometimes they’ll mess with her by asking which head she’s talking to “Nightmare” or “Fredbear” if she doesn’t address them by their name.

he was very charming and so different from literally everyone, he also intrigued you
its not really a question as to whether you two were the most hottest, but also surprising couple to step out

he also lets you do his makeup. he is very in with the eyeliner

okay so katherine def saw you as competition first
she was like

after hanging out for a while you two develop feelings for each other, especially katherine
like homegirl has fallen haaarrrdddd
every thing about is just so perfect and not to mention, just your style and your personality tie it all in together
so she asks you out after a lil and ofc you say yes
you two def do each other's makeup
you show katherine new tips that she swore she's always known (no she never has lol)

Part 7
Request: Yes or No
Yeah.. This is most def my least fav chapter. I need to get better at explaining fight scenes and abilities lol
~
"Hit the three targets at once."
"I can only focus on one-"
"No, no, that's not true. You can do this, (N/N)." You sighed, nodding as you raised your hand, lifting up the three rocks. Clint pointed at each target he had set up. The farm was a great place to practice. You looked at each target, spreading your fingers apart and watching the rocks line up with each target. You thrusted your hand forward, watching the rocks fly forward and hit the center for each one. You grinned, laughing as you heard Laura and Lila cheer from their spot on the porch. Cooper mimicked your movements, feeling Laura pat his head.
"That's what I'm talking about." Clint grinned, ruffling up your hair. You rolled your eyes, looking forward at the targets.
"Now, try out water." Clint said, picking up the bucket and placing it infront of you. You moved your hands infront of you, focusing on the water. The bucket began to shake as the water swirled around.
"Relax." Clint said softly, glancing between you and the bucket. "Don't get nervous or frustrated."
"Okay." You nodded, relaxing your shoulders. You took in a deep breath, eyes closing. You heard Clint let out a suprised chuckle. You opened your eyes, seeing the water in a bubble above the bucket. You slowly pulled your arms apart, watching the water separate into thirds.
"Now, focus on the targets." Clint instructed. You shifted your gaze away from the water, focusing on the targets. You thrusted your hands forward. The water almost reached the targets before falling to the ground.
"Well, better than yesterday." Clint said, hands on his hips. You chuckled, nodding. The only thing you had done was tip the bucket over.
"So.. Natasha mentioned something about you and Wanda." Clint looked at you, cocking a brow. "Do we need to have the talk?"
"Yeah, no. I'm good." You shook your head, chuckling. You rubbed your arm, opening your mouth to speak before you got a notification on your phone. You checked it and sighed.
"New mission?" Clint asked. You nodded, glancing at your mother and siblings.
"I'll try to make it back for dinner."

You fixed your hat, glancing at Wanda as she took a sip of her tea. You heard Steve's voice through the earpiece as you scanned your surroundings.
"What do you see?"
"Standard B cops." Wanda replied, making eye contact with you. You rested your head on your fist, gaze flickering over to the police station.
"Small station.. Quiet street." Wanda added, glancing over her shoulder. "It's a good target."
"There's an atm on the south corner which means-"
"Cameras." You muttered, looking down at the drink in your hand. You listened to Wanda and Steve, looking up when Natasha cut in.
"You guys know I can move things with my mind, right? (Y/N) over here is slowly becoming Father Nature." Wanda said, grinning. You rolled your eyes, shaking your head.
"Looking over your shoulder needs to become second nature." Natasha said, shooting you two a look.
"Anyone ever tell you that you're a little paranoid?" Sam asked.
"Not to my face. Why? Did you hear something?"
"Eyes on the target, folks." Steve cut the chit chat. You continued to look over the people around, frowning.
"Go now."
"Why?" Wanda asked, looking at you in confusion and slight panic.
"He's not hitting the police." Steve answered. You and Wanda stood up, ditching the small cafe area. She grabbed your arm, using her powers to lift both of you into the air. She flew over to the Institute of Dieases, letting go of your arm as you shot out a root to a wall. You were able to swing down to the ground, landing beside her. You swallowed, thrusting your hand forward and blinking when a ball of fire shot out, hitting one of the men back against a truck.
"Now really isn't the time to be figuring out new abilities, (Y/N)." Sam called, knocking out a guy Wanda had thrown up into the air.
"I know." You breathed out. You really hoped the new abilities didn't interfere with the mission. Wanda lifted Steve up to one of the floors, glancing at you.
"You'll gain control of them." She assured you as she used her powers to clear out the gas. You ran a hand through your hair, growing nervous. Sam took up into the air, arms extending downward. You raised your hands, roots shooting up and wrapping around his arms.
"Christ, you're heavy."
"Oh, fuck you, bird boy." You huffed, gripping onto the roots as Sam took off. You definitely still hated flying. You didn't look down until Sam got to the marketplace. You followed Sam, spotting one of the men. You clenched your fist, making the ground under the man split off and rise. Sam flew up, punching the guy off and knocking him out when he landed on the ground. You let the piece of ground down as Sam searched the guy. Sam shook his head, standing. He helped Natasha out with 'Red Wing', getting what the team needed. You rolled your eyes as he and Natasha went back and forth, walking through the market to find Steve. You flinched, looking up and seeing a building with a few floors on fire. You looked forward, seeing Wanda with a hand over her mouth.
"Fuck." You whispered, jogging over to her and placing an arm around her. Wanda stared at the building, eyes watering. You swallowed, rubbing her arm.
"(Y/N), I'm gonna need some water." Steve called. You gently let her go, walking forward. You looked at the fire truck, raising your hands and watching the water. You guided it to the fire, a small smile slipping. You took out the fire, a breath of relief leaving you. You turned towards Wanda, approaching her.
"Come on, let's go." You said softly. She gently grabbed your arm, flying back to the aircraft. You entered and sat down, watching her. Wanda gently rested her head on your shoulder.
"I'll never be an Avenger.. I'll never be good enough to be one." Wanda whispered, staring at the ground. You frowned, giving her arm a squeeze.
"You are good enough, Wanda. You did what you thought was right." You said softly, watching her. Wanda sighed, biting her bottom lip.
"What if sometimes doing what you think is right.. Is actually wrong?"
"There would've been way more casualties if you hadn't done that. Cap might've been hurt too." You pointed out, glancing up when Sam arrived. Natasha and Steve arrived soon after. The ride back was silent apart from Steve and Natasha giving out reports.
"Where should I drop you off, (Y/N)?" Natasha asked, looking over at you.
"Home." You answered. Natasha nodded, looking forward again. You gently nudged Wanda.
"Stay for dinner." You said softly. Wanda gave a small nod, avoiding everyone's gaze. You sighed, glancing at Sam. It had been the first mission as a team. It was technically a success since Natasha had gotten what was needed. You stood up as Natasha lowered the aircraft, letting you and Wanda out. You headed towards the house, entering and sighing.
"You two look exhausted." You turned towards Laura, chuckling softly. Laura gave Wanda a smile. After the mess in Sokovia, Clint had introduced the family to Wanda. She was beyond happy when Clint told her Nathaniels middle name would be Pietro.
"Hi, Laura." Wanda greeted her, leaning in and giving her a hug. Laura smiled, hugging her back.
"You two should take a bath. Come on, you can use some of my clothes." Laura said, smiling and pulling Wanda upstairs. You looked at Clint, rubbing your neck.
"I shot fire out of my hands." You muttered. Clint blinked, staring at you with raised brows.
"The mission was a successful but.. There were accidental casualties." You told him softly. Clint sighed softly, offering a supportive smile.
"I'm sure if you could've prevented it, you would've." Clint said, giving your shoulder a squeeze.
"What if I hurt a teammate by accident? That guy I hit with fire could've easily been Cap or Sam." You frowned, arms crossing. Clint gently pulled you into a hug.
"You won't hurt anyone. You just have to figure out how to make your powers come out when you want them to." Clint leaned back, patting your shoulder. You turned your head, hearing Nathaniel coo and blow raspberries. You smiled softly.
"I'm gonna go shower." You said, heading up the stairs. You entered your room, getting a towel and clothes before entering the bathroom. You turned on the water and sighed, looking into the mirror. You wiped at some ash on your cheek, watching the mirror fog. You stripped and entered the shower, relaxing at the feeling of the hot water. You gently ran your hands over your arms, thoughts drifting back to the fire ball. You turned, letting the water hit your back.
"How the hell am I gonna do that again?" You frowned, watching the water. You cupped your hands, letting water fill in. You licked your lips, focusing on it. The water slowly took a circle form, rising up from your hands. You smiled softly, lifting a finger and touching the side of it. You blinked, lips parting as it slowly turned to ice. You caught it as it dropped, hissing softly.
"Jesus, fuck." You shivered at the coldness, giving it a light squeeze and turning it back to water. The water slipped through your fingers, still cold. You finished showering, drying off and changing. You stepped out of the bathroom, entering your room and noticing Wanda brushing her hair.
"How you feeling?" You asked softly, dropping the dirty clothes into the laundry basket. Wanda shrugged lightly, placing the brush on the bed.
"Fine, I guess.. Can't wait to hear what the media has to say about it." Wanda replied, playing with the hem of the sweater. You took a seat beside her, gently bumping shoulders with her.
"Nobody cares about what the media says. They say we're heroes one day and villains the next." You said, watching her. She nodded, fingers going over the brush. Wanda turned her head, giving you a defeated smile. You stayed silent, taking in her tired features. Wanda slowly leaned in, pressing her lips against yours. She leaned back, humming softly.
"That felt weird." You mumbled, chuckling softly. Wanda nodded, smiling as a small laugh left her.
"We're better as friends."
"Yeah, definitely. Plus, I think Vis likes you." You told her, smiling. Wanda's brows rose, looking at you.
"Really?" She asked with a small smile. You nodded, looking up when Laura peeked in.
"Dinner's ready." She chirped. You got off the bed, helping Wanda up from the bed and heading downstairs for dinner.

✧｡ you sighed, running a hand through his hair to calm him down— which worked, a little bit— “you, koutarou, are a special breed.” you kissed his forehead, sighing at how his hair depleted
✧｡ “you are still my princess! my babygirl! i should talk to this fellow, because i will not be second best to my daughter’s heart.” he huffed, puffing out his chest with pride
✧｡ she, on the other hand, is completely embarrassed by this, “daddy, no...”
✧｡ “what? why not?”
✧｡ “actually, you should let him do just that, sweetheart.” you crossed your arms and smiled, much to your daughter’s dismay. “i think akaashi will find entertainment in seeing this for himself.”
✧｡ “akaashi? what does he have to do with this?”

Who has the most embarrassing taste in music: hmm probably Percy but only in like a "parody of himself" kinda way. Nothing but a mix of chamber orchestra and emo music. Which aren't all that bad on their own, but he is a hashtag Byronic Posh Boi and so of COURSE that's all he listens to. Vex has cool(tm) tastes in music. Even if a song or artist wasn't cool (tm) before, it becomes cool(tm) once she likes it.
Who reads the most: I mean Percy. Not that Vex doesn't read, but he big nerd.
Who’s better with kids: ooo boy that's A QUESTION for some canonical parents, huh? I'm going to say Percy, just because I feel like Vex is a parent who can get overwhelmed sometimes and not know how to handle needy kids when she's running on empty (feel like I should say this does not make a person a bad parent- just that as a kid it's hard to understand that adults get tired). Meanwhile Percy has a natural tone that suggests what he's saying is fact, so if he's too tired for high energy toddlers he's just like "sitting by the fire drinking tea is a very fun game" and the bbs just climb into his lap like "you're right being quiet and snuggly is very fun" while Vex watches like "HOW."
Who’s the one that fixes things around the house: Percy's a good good tinker boi
Who’s got the weirdest hobby: listen one of them invented firearms and the other has a pet bear it's a toss up.
Who cooks and who cleans up: Both are what you might call... Functional cooks. Nothing to write home about, but they get the job done. But Percy excels more at baking (structured, exacting) and Vex is better at more loosely defined things like soups and sauces. Cleaning up is a duo activity and a nice part of their evening wind down.
Vaxleth:
Who’s the messiest one: deffo Keyleth. Houston we have a hoarder. She gets emotionally attached to everything, and saves up little bits and bobs of things for crafting and home diy projects all the time.
Who feels the most uncomfortable about PDA: probably Keyleth, but it's in like- the most Social Anxiety way possible. It's not so much that she's uncomfortable, it's that she gets worried that being snuggly or kissing will make others uncomfortable.
Who’s the funniest drunk: oh that's a hard one. Cuz we've seen them both be high quality drunks, (ie day drinking queen and "heterosexuality is fake and magic is just the fucking best????????"). I'd say Vax because I feel like he's more likely to insist he's not that drunk and doesn't need anyone to look after him, and therefore will get into more shananigans/flirt more

Who has the most embarrassing taste in music: they both have the same issue as Percy, in that their tastes are just a parody of themselves. Vax has three categories of favorite music: sad emo boy, sexy alt boy, and rebellious 90s girl. And then Keyleth is just unironically into the softest cheesiest music you've ever heard on the soundtrack to a chick flick. We're talking Jewel here, folks. Also retro oldies cuz Homeschooled Vibes. I'm going to say Vax tho, cuz he's the one who gets emotional about it, while Keyleth is just a casual listener. And he listens to more of her music than she does his. She'll send him the Live at the Troubadour recording of Kelly Clarkson's Sober and he responds back like "??? Why would you send me this??? At 10am on a Tuesday??? When I have things to do??? Now I'm crying on the bus?????" And she's just "glad you liked it! :D"
Who reads the most: probably Vax. He gets deep into reading in attempts to find less self destructive ways of getting out of his head.
Who’s better with kids: hm I'm gunna say Vax on this one because Keyleth has a tendency to try too hard with everyone and was also an only child who was forced into very structured time while growing up cuz expectations. Vax has more clear memories of actually just being a kid when the twins were with their mom, so he can relate easier. That being said they're both pretty good, as we see with that kid Simon, a scene that will HAUNT ME FOREVER.
Who’s the one that fixes things around the house: def keyleth. DIY queen. Vax just gets frustrated and is like "let's just buy a new one"
Who’s got the weirdest hobby: hmmm. Keyleth has A LOT of hobbies, but Vax def will do parkour, just cuz. Like he may have started back when he was still kind of a criminal, but now he doesn't have a practical excuse and he doesn't even like- record it or anything so there's no point to it. He just sees urban environments and goes "gotta jump. Gotta climb. Just gotta."
Who cooks and who cleans up: Keyleth has got prep on lock. Gardening. Hunting and trapping. Gathering. Cleaning and dressing and chopping. She's got this. It's adding fire to things where she starts having trouble. Vax picks things up from there just fine though, and covers dishes and such on the back end.
Pikelan:
Who’s the messiest one: Pike. Pike. Pike. Having a perma-home at last means she gets comfy, which means you can usually not see the bedroom floor. Scanlan is scandalized.
Who’s the one that fixes things around the house: Scanlan tries. He likes the idea of being helpful with domestic stuff and not just a goofus who's just around for the fun parts of being together. Unfortunately he's never really lived anywhere long enough to get good at household repair, and it takes him way too long to do anything. Pike is pretty handy, but gets so busy that she'll just put up with something being broken for weeks. Best case scenario is Pike shows Scanlan how to do something so the next time he can do it himself and feel accomplished and she can come home to things being fixed and give him smooches and coo over him being a handyman.
Who's the funniest drunk? Pike. "I'M TRYING TO STEALTH."
Who feels the most uncomfortable about PDA: it may shock people, but Scanlan has the same "once it's serious I get bashful" disease as Vax. Pike will absolutely give his bootie a tap in line at the grocery store and he just goes bright red. He tries to laugh it off like he's still the smarmy mess everyone knows, but she teases him endlessly about it.
Who texts the most: Scanlan is an absolute "good morning," "thinking of you," "how was your day," and "goodnight" text person before they live together. After they move in together it's just text versions of his cover songs about his love for her and dank memes.
Who has the most embarrassing taste in music: we know it's Scanlan. We've heard his cover tracks. Pike has similar cool(tm) tastes as Vex.
Who reads the most: Pike is probably someone who's always on the move, so she's more an audiobook person. But Scanlan is like fully ready for the dad life. Just loving any weekend where he does nothing but sit around in flannel pj pants reading a mystery paperback.
Who’s better with kids: It's a hard one. Scanlan second guesses himself quite a bit and worries every little thing he says or does is going to become Lasting Trauma. Pike acts more chill about it, but slowly gets more and more overwhelmed until she nearly has a nervous collapse. But their opposite styles work well together and they're able to be a pretty great team.
Who’s got the weirdest hobby: I feel like Pike is someone with a weird collection. It is either something a little spooky but cool and academic, like antique medical equipment, or something horrifyingly tacky, like a thong from every city she visits. Maybe both.
Who cooks and who cleans up: this is where Scanlan is a much quicker learner about domestic stuff. Pike is a good cook, but it's usually on the move so much she doesn't have the time for meal planning and prep. Scanlan absolutely throws himself into being a house husband and gets obsessed with cooking shows. Pike insists on helping with dishes tho.

THOUGHTS ON GILMORE GIRLS:
i have so much to say y’all regarding gilmore girls. I LOVE this show. i have a very tension filled hatred for some parts but most of all LOVE.
after watching seven whole seasons of these girls lives, i have to say i truly understand the complexities of these characters. we’re not even gonna get into the years of a our lives thing, no this is about the freaking original. god, the amount of shit that rory did, lorelai did, chris did, luke did, emily and richard, I MEANNNN god it’s a lot
1. Rory.
gosh this girl was so frustratingly annoying. a perfect gem and pearl in the first year, and then later she becomes a nuisance. but what i truly see is her finally getting out of that naivety/handholding/dewy eyed phase and onto things like being a teen. this girl really stole a boat and got it on her record and what i hated about the show is that they never bring it up again. like that def affected her getting into places bUT NOOOOO. they wanna paint her out as some saint. i think the only sympathy i have to her behavior is that she was growing into who she was. i thought thank goodness Jess screamed at the girl to go back to yale because Logan wasn’t gonna do it!! gosh the whole relationships this girls gone thru, ruining deans marriage, cheating on logan with jess and making jess sad, going back to logan again and again after he treated her like crap? like NO honey that’s toxicityyyyyy. anyways she was annoying but at the end i love her.
2. lorelai.
I LOVE THIS WOMAN. no matter how many times she screwed up i could never stop loving this woman. does this mean i have bias ? YES. sorry y’all. i just related so much to these two. the dynamic of a single mom and her kid spoke so much to me and my mom. but also i am not like lor and rory, i’m more like lor and emily. i have the same mommy issues, caffeine addiction, and a incessant need to ramble on about god knows what. i do not have the sexy, charming wit she has, but i do think i’m funny and i talk a lot (i mean look at this long ass text post) BUT she’s just so beautiful and wonderful. she went thru so much for rory and made her into the kid she is today and just was so understanding. i wish she gave emily grace but at the end like i truly get why she was always so frustrated. there were times where she was excessive but damn it i get her. i love her and luke. why tf did jason happen. also the chris marriage so nasty, but all in all she deserves love and to be cherished.
3. luke
this man holds my heart gosh damn it, i love him. i don’t know why april came into his life, maybe to add some spice. i think he never would’ve forgotten to wear a condom lowkey he’s so responsible. but hey, whatever the show includes. i think he handled that part so well tho , and only fighting for partial custody , i truly loved that. he didn’t wanna make it a big thing cause he knows that april needs her mom, but i thought it was rude that Anna (ew), someone who knew Luke’s character, and knows what kind of guy he is, would not tell him he had a kid. and then expects him not wanna be a dad? like he is the ultimate “i wanna make sure everything’s done right on my end, i’ll always do what i think is right” type of guy. he did that with jess i mean come on. i love his anger about things cause it reminds me of my own dad, and like i wish there was more complexity to him, but i think he repetitive nature suited him. he had a lot of chaos in his life and tranquility in the small things in life like routine and filling the salt shakers really helped him feel grounded and have a sense of control. i love him, the most caring dude in the world, and i would want him on my side in a war.
4. dean
we gotta start somewhere for rory’s boyfriends. i think he was a good first boyfriend, treated her right, but goSH DAMN IT HE WAS SO FUCKING ANNOYING LATER ON. see i even started watching gilmore girls cause jared padalecki was in it, and i was so awestruck by it cause of the characters but DAMN if a character could be even more annoying. dean was not into the things rory was into and they had no spark, but they had comfortability and it was sweet and he helped lorelai out a lot and treated her good, but he legit was so clingy and all that shit later on. and like he wasn’t even trying wiyh life with her in it either and it just frustrated me. he messed up a marriage for her, it’s so wrong man. like ugh.
5. jess
if i could hug someone i would hug him omg. he looks like he smells like those manly colognes, books, and hair products but the fruit scented kind like coconuts and berries that he’s embarrassed to tell you about. gosh he is such a character. i love him so much and he went thru so much as a kid and i wish he never had that scene of pressuring rory cause that was a HUGE ick but all in all, he just had to go to therapy and know he could make it big. i wish they input his story more and that whole outfit at the poetry house thing was vomit, the hair and goatee made me choke i was like this aint you bby boy, but alas they had to make him look like those 2000 poet guys (i mean it was in the 2000’s but i digress) it just wasn’t his leather jacket and jeans look i missed. he was the one who understood rory in all her creative mess. he was the one to spark up that drive for yale again and told her to pursue whatever she wanted (granted i didn’t like how he showed up at her dorm and was like let’s run away together) but he was there for her in the ways he could. he had so much trauma tho that i think it was best they let go of each other and i think if they found each other again later and pursued it it would be beautiful.
6. logan.
i hated him at first yall. i’m so sorry i really did. he was a player, immature, immoral, and annoyingly right about things. rory did not need his influence. they stole a boat together, he wanted her to be out of her comfort zone yes but damn to what extreme? i think after he matured up, it was so beautiful tho. i hate to admit it but i love him now. he grew on me, he truly started caring for rory in a responsible way, he started working, he started realizing he could lose rory, and in the end it was sad she didn’t accept but he took it like a champ. i think he was so ready for it cause he loved her but he couldn’t have expected her to drop all her career options and just go with him to san francisco. i think he should’ve known her well enough but i also get why he didn’t wanna do long distance. i think he connected with her very well. in the way that pointed out her ICKS she never knew she had. she also was a trust fund baby with a rich family and is at Yale and doesn’t have to work through college. i hated that she never acknowledged that and thought she was some fucking hard worker. like yes you study a lot ma’am but you don’t work you’re not someone who knows what it’s like to worry about rent the next day. like damn she had a mom and she had her pool house shit and i also think it was so ungrateful the way she acted towards emily and richard. like they did so much shit for her and she took it for granted. yes they can be extreme but rory needs to be nicer. she is literally another pompous kid who attended an ivy league and she acted so high and mighty in that article ugh. anyways logan was able to show her that hey you have flaws too don’t think you’re perfect but also showed her her TRUE potential. he wanted her on a newspaper and wanted her things to excel and was there with her every step of the way. paid for an apartment, dor a car, and i feel she never really acknowledged that. it was frustrating. but he was frustrating in ways too with the bridesmaid things and the player things and the gambling with Colin and Finn (why did they exist) and yeah. but anyways 9/10
7. christopher hayden.
can i say i fully loathe this man? HATE. i despISE this man. the amount of times he messed up? the amount of times he broke rory and lorelai’s heart?? TOO MANY. he’s a dumb dad and he acts stupid with GG too and i stand by it and sherry is a bitch but damn oh damn did chris get himself in shit. lorelai was ready to marry him and be with him and he went to sherry. SHERRY DIDNT EVEN WANT THE KID. well she did and then it came by and she didn’t and then she left and that was confusing asf. cause she was over here talking rory’s ear off about chris and kids she was the most annoying character ever. hated her . BUT I HATE CHRIS MORE. then lorelai dated luke and pushed her and expected her to be with him and it to be fine. no. and thank god they split but damn the hurt lorelai went thru? it’s embarrassing when luke is the one at the hospital for lor’s dad instead of the husband. anyways it was stupud of him to always try. and then like mess it up between him and rory and act like a dad when he was barely there for her, but either way i’m happy he paid for yale and he’s out of their lives as much as he was in it.
8. emily.
EMILY MY LOVE. you are so stubborn and so conceited but damn do you love your family to the moon and back. this woman was a wife through and through and i have so much respect for her and it’s so weird because i’d never want that for me and it’s so traditional but she’s such a caring woman. only for her blood tho it’s so funny the way she could care less about those around her. um, i hate the rich things ya know the “status, and being poised” thibg but i have to realize it’s becaus of how she was raised and what she was taught was correct. i think lorelai never deserved that uobringing but i think emily tried her best in what she knew. and she tried to be better and wanted to be included in rory and lorelai’s life. even if she was always annoyed by lorelai’s jokes, she knew that was their dynamic and i loved that lorelai agreed to friday night dinners even after rory left it meant so much to her. and i love emily. she loves lorelai so much in her weird and twisted way, she does. that girl would kill for lorelai. i’d move mountains for this woman
9. richard
i needed time to get used to him at the beginning of the season but later on i found that i loved him too. the loving at first about the rory cryibg about yale thing was cute cause it was his first “i’m your grandpa i’d do anything and spoil you silly” event he ever experienced but it was so intense and i totally understood why he coddled her. i wish he didn’t cause it caused all the problems but it was necessary to see his love for her was strong.
they had to find ways in connecting in the beginning with the golf and the hat and books and all that but rory and richard were so close and i love that man. at the end, he saw no use in fighting with lorelai and even laughed at her jokes and was a mediator between emily and lor and the heart attack def did shit to him for him to say he knew lorelai was adored because she turned out to be a great person and that’s why the town loved her, it wa all so cute. i think at the end of the seasons we grow to love richard and emily so much so that we forget all the bad things they did.

enough daid, this show is great i love the complexities and i love the dynamic, the jokes, (some are problematic like the body shaming, r word, culture stereotyping, and sexuality jokes) i think that it was a great show focused on plot. i hated the first episode of the life thing the spin off i forget what it’s called, but you know. they made a lot of “spanish i don’t speak spanish” jokes and there’s barely still any diversity in the cast, and the jokes are so bad like they’re trying to be accepting of the lgbtq+ community but they made jokes so many times in season 7 that it can’t be ignored and like the amount of times they are so stereotypical to the asian community like “rory’s trip to asia”? like that whole episode was so rude with the hello kitty sign, but like idk
it’s a complicated show, i loved it and hated it, i have a love relationship with it that includes such tension it’s toxic. like i’m even hispanic and the whole bit of them not knowing soanish nor thinking they can learn a bit (idk as a inn owner maybe pick up a language/trade?) is not even that effecting to me cause i know them as characters on the show and the girls we grew to love are not like that at all. idk it’s so weird. idk y’all. anyways i finsihed it thank goodness now someone pls recommend new shows :))))

Hi, I really love your thoughts and analysis on tts so I wanted to ask if you have read The Vanishing Village Book? It made me really think about Eugene's character. I sorta disliked him in the book and felt his relationship with Rapunzel was different and strained. I guess my question is if you think Eugene is a good character? I feel that I am biased for liking the story and relationship between Cassandra and Rapunzel so perhaps I am not seeing him in a fair light but there's just factors that make me feel he might not be the best for Rapunzel. I love their relationship and value & dedication towards each other but their relationship can feel a bit stale sometimes and Eugene can come off as not understanding and dismissive towards Rapunzel sometimes so ig I'd like to be proven wrong and be reminded that Eugene is good for Rapunzel
i have read vanishing village (and i remember liking it better than lost lagoon) but i have to admit i don’t remember anything but the very broad strokes of the plot, so i don’t feel equipped to do any analysis of eugene based on it; that being said -
i do really like eugene as a character in the sense that he is. interesting / engaging / compelling, which yeah to my mind that’s what makes a “good character” but also has nothing to do with the, kind of, moral or personal question of but is he a good guy or is he likable or sympathetic or that kind of thing. and on that my feelings are more ambivalent kfjfjdhs
on the one hand i do find his relationship with rapunzel in tts to be fairly refreshing. it’s nice to see a fictional m/f couple that is just… comfortable with each other, friends with each other, able to talk about their problems collaboratively with each other. that is so rare in fiction, where the tendency is so often to rely on miscommunication to manufacture relationship drama or do the will they won’t they, on again off again nonsense which is just so tiresome - and it feels good to have a m/f couple that eschews that altogether. and it’s also imo really nice that the m/f relationship fades so much into the background vis a vis the wider plot, which i know is not necessarily a popular opinion [vague gestures at all the ‘eugene was sidelined’ discourse] but, like, i feel like i can count on one hand the number of stories i know where the female protagonist *has a male love interest* without the story being ABOUT him, and with the male love interest filling this supportive narrative role while quietly and subtly dealing with his own problems on the side? it’s so difficult to find stories where men aren’t centered and so i appreciate eugene and new dream a lot for that reason too.
but at the same time like - eugene def falls victim to the plot-driven writing just like every other character does and that frustrates me because i think ultimately having all these loose threads hanging with him means his character feels a bit stagnant, and that in turn makes his flaws more glaring because they’re never… worked on or addressed, they just sort of persist or silently fade away for the most part. (which again, is true of literally every character because the storytelling of tts is highly plot driven and episodic)
& that phenomenon can make character interpretation a little convoluted, because… well the intentions of the narrative are signaled pretty baldly (eugene grows out of his selfishness and becomes a compassionate hard working leader for corona, which he has embraced as his home) without having much if any on-screen development to back it up (indeed the premise of flynnposter involves eugene shirking his new responsibilities, and then it concludes with a commitment from him to take the captain gig seriously - but thereafter the only time we get to see this demonstrated through him encouraging project obsidian [which makes him look the opposite of compassionate or responsible given he is excitedly planning to extrajudicially murder cassandra] and then joining the fight against zhan tiri [which literally everyone in corona does]). so do we take what the textual development shows us and conclude that eugene is, at the end of the day, just another cop, or do we take the narrative signaling as a given and fill in the textual gaps with our own imaginations? i tend to fall heavier on the textual side but i do try to take intentions into consideration when they are signaled so clearly, because i understand the structural and corporate limitations on what the tts team were able to do with the story.
anyways - i also have some fraught feelings about new dream because, in the film, it’s not a relationship that i can buy into at all. rapunzel is 17, a few days shy of 18, when an adult man in his mid-twenties tumbles into her bedroom, hits on her, tries to take advantage of her naïveté so he can recover his stolen goods and screw her over because he’s spent his life cultivating an attitude of selfish disregard for anyone but himself, but she’s so sweet he decides to give emotional vulnerability a try and within three days they’re in love and then they get MARRIED?? and he’s literally the first person rapunzel has ever met who wasn’t her “mother”? excuse me???
and i get the impression the tts team was fully cognizant of that problem and made a real effort to address it, as much as they could within the context of the designated disney princess couple - that’s how we get things like the BEA proposal and rapunzel and eugene talking their feelings out afterwards and agreeing to take things slower, and that’s how we get things like rapunzel having cass and eugene having lance so they have lives and identities and relationships outside of each other, and it’s why eugene has a little arc of becoming less self-absorbed in the front half of s1 and why cassandra overtly criticizes his treatment of rapunzel in BEA and so on and so forth. like no one says it OUT LOUD in the series but rapunzel’s and eugene’s relationship is fraught with peril because of the way they met and came together, and it takes significant emotional work from both of them to navigate that to arrive at a healthy place, and i enjoy watching that play out.
so yeah eugene is sometimes too in his own head to notice when something is wrong with rapunzel, like how he misses how unhappy she is in BEA because *he’s* so jazzed about palace living, and sometimes they struggle to get on the same page with each other in general; but that’s just, kind of the gig where relationships are concerned. what matters to me is that whenever these hiccups happen we see, typically some confusion or distress from him or rapunzel or both, and then they reach out for each other and talk about it until they reach an understanding, which is the correct healthy way to manage this sort of conflict in a relationship. and of course through it all eugene is pretty unflagging in his absolute support of rapunzel - even if he doesn’t always *express it* in a good way, he is always very invested in rapunzel’s happiness and well-being. like even the BEA proposal, eugene’s fuck up lies in assuming that rapunzel felt the same way he did about everything and that proposing now would make her happy - there’s self-absorption there but not to the point where he isn’t concerned about her feelings, so when he upsets her he immediately realizes that he screwed up and shelves his own feelings to focus on hers, which is very Good Partner of him.
and then again on a metatextual level i do kind of hate that rapunzel’s arc is essentially, trapped in corona -> adventure! -> adventure is traumatic time to go home -> exact same circumstances she started in but she’s happy about it now. not to say i object to rapunzel embracing her role as a princess/queen per se, but in an ideal world i would like that to come from a place of rapunzel remaking her role to suit herself rather than just kind of… this ‘well got the wanderlust out of my system forever!’ vibe i get from plus est. this isn’t directly related to eugene at all but i think it does splash over onto him on account of him being so closely intertwined with her life in corona. if rapunzel were given an arc about tearing down institutions that stifled her in s1 and really rebuilding corona to be better (something that is lightly implied in canon but never quite makes its way to outright text) then of course eugene would have been her number one supporter - but she doesn’t get that arc and so eugene ends up just kind of being there while rapunzel settles into the role laid out for her. (the destiny narrative being played painfully straight in this regard doesn’t help either.)
this is all a bit of a ramble but i guess what i’m getting at is i think at the end of the day the thing that makes new dream feel a bit stale or stagnant is the series sticking to this aggressively pro-monarchy, status quo is good, mass market appeal narrative enforced by the reality of Disney Princess Show, and that’s not eugene’s fault or any character’s fault, it’s a corporate issue and writing issue.
oh and also personally i think eugene’s biggest flaw in the new dream relationship is he has a tendency to enable rapunzel’s worst impulses via unquestioning support - a little healthy skepticism can be very good for a relationship vs just being your partner’s yes man. so when i imagine a character trajectory for him post-series it involves eugene getting more comfortable pushing back when rapunzel is pursuing ideas that are bad in some way.

I too was excited to see why Ryuji is trending and... ;_;
People are comparing him to a sexual abuser, like Kamoshida? I mean, yeah he shouldn't have looked down Ann's shirt. That wasn't cool. And some of his comments about Ann's Panther costume when she first got it, were not in good taste. But is Twitter seriously saying that puts him on the same level as Kamoshida? KAMOSHIDA????????????

Just this past week, I watched an Anituber video essayist mention the ubiquitous female objectification in anime as "because you know anime is going to anime", and I felt so validated about sensing that the amount of female objectification in Japanese media has become pretty much expected, normalized, even in the most unnecessary, tiniest ways. I'm so tired of being gaslit about this. Yes, Japanese media in general has a problem with making sure to have close ups of girls' bodies being ogled and women being reduced to (romantic) prizes to be coveted. That beach scene in Persona 5 did panning close-up shots of the girls' swimsuits; not the guys'. All the dating options in Persona 5 are from the pool of female Confidants; not the guys. Because "guys as romantic prizes to be won? Feh, what a *riDIcUlOuS* concept!" I understand that sex sells, that traditionally female sexualization sells to a traditionally cishet male audience which is still presumed to be the largest demographic, and that the anime industry (and presumably other Japanese pop culture creation) is actually financially high risk with low financial rewards for most studios, so they have to desperately scrape for any advantage. (Though recently, the Japanese pop culture industries, like anime and videogames, have begun to realize that there is a cishet female market, large enough to cater to as well, by mainstreaming series like Touken Ranbu. And they've also even recently begun to recognize that catering to fujoshi is worth investing into mainstreaming the BL genre, even a little bit. Thus, we're starting to get more mainstream BL fanservice, through series like Free Iwatobi Swim Club, Yuri on Ice, and Classmates.) So it's kind of our fault, for incentivizing studios to mandate and ensure each thing they make contains female objectification. The audience's spending habits and the industries' presumptions of our wants/demographics, have made cheesecake fanservice and waifu bait the most reliable bet for most studios. We spend the most money on collecting waifu bait merch and gacha cards of waifu. We argue the most about who is the "best waifu" and show our allegiances by buying their merch. We have turned waifu and cheesecake fanservice of such waifu, into the most reliable financial returns on investment for studios. And with studios so constantly, precariously on the precipice of bankruptcy, we the audience, have incentivized the mandate of cheesecake fanservice (of women/girls), even at the cost of cohesive storytelling/characterization. I understand all that. Studios are desperate, and they need to stay afloat. They need to cling and scrape towards any advantage they can get. That's why I'm so tired of people saying we're just imagining things. Anime and videogames are mandating to insert female cheesecake fanservice for cishet males, even at the cost of cohesive characterization, story themes, and good writing.
This includes Persona 5 shoehorning Ryuji into being the horny audience surrogate, no matter how awkward, nonsensible, and misaligned it would skew his characterization and previous writing. This is why fans of Ryuji often say his more "perverted" actions in canon, simply feel like a case of bad writing. Those actions don't feel like him. They feel more like fulfilling the Japanese pop media "obligation" to objectify women, than aligned with his character, as set up so far. Because anime/games just *have* to provide a POV audience surrogate character for everyone to ogle the girls through. Or at least reinforce the types of reactions they want from their audience, after showing us all these T&A shots. It felt more like fulfilling anime tropes than further building upon Ryu's established character of defending people, including women, against perverts like Kamoshida. I mean, this is the guy who was chasing down Kamoshida's car because he knew that pervert might do something. This is the guy who ran straight to the faculty office to punch out Kamoshida for torturing Shiho to her tipping point. The guy who jumped in front of a moving cab to rescue Makoto. The guy who survived watching himself and his mom get abused by his dad. And you want us to believe he wouldn't think twice about looking down Ann's shirt on the way to Futaba's Palace? Or up Ann's skirt, when she laid down from a food coma, after they Yusuke's welcome-to-the-Phantom-Thieves meal? Or so eagerly coerce Ann into posing nude? o_O? Atlus wanted us to believe this was consistent characterization??? To the Atlus writers' credit, they did write Ryuji feeling too guilty about going through Project Maid-Watch and they wrote him ditching it at the last minute. But they also wrote AkiRen to look down Ann's shirt without any hesitations and they wrote morgana to also look up Ann's skirt when she laid down from food coma. The Atlus writers---and most Japanese pop culture---just seem to have an unwavering determination towards these female objectification scenes, and they just saddled Ryuji with it, because he's the "silly, rambunctious, comedy relief" character "that you won't have to feel bad when he inevitably gets hit with *slapstick* retribution". Nevermind, it's counter to the story's theme and his characterization, that they've driven pretty hard as being something to take seriously. So some Ryuji fans will just call-out his inconsistent characterization into being creepy towards girls, as "bad writing".
On the other hand, it's wholly possible and realistic for a guy to exist who is against all the sexual abuse, that scum like Kamoshida do, while still being a dumb horny teenager who will do dumb horny teenage boy stuff. (I'm sorry for all the toxic heteronormative presumptions. But that's kind of the archetype that Atlus has been trying to slot Ryuji into...unfortunately.) They grow out of it. Gradually learning to curb dumb horny inclinations, is _not_ the same level as a sexual abuser! Why are people conflating that today?! o~O????????
And from what I've seen of Ryuji in Persona 5 Scramble/Strikers so far, he has been growing out of it. There's a whole lot less creepy ogling coming from him (AKA the writers), even during scenes which any other anime would have. He didn't get creepy about the girls' yukata, he didn't strain to listen to the girls on the other side of the Sapporo onsen, he didn't make grabby hands at the girls' swimsuits again, etc. Any other anime---hell, even in the previous chronological episode of their story, in the original Persona 5---Ryuji and the camera would have been creepy about the girls' yukata, he would have shut up the other guys so he could listen to the girls compare boobs in the onsen, he would have tried to sneak a peek at the girls' onsen, and there would have been a repeat of that close up scene of the girls swimsuits, with Ryuji providing the expected lecherous audience reaction. But none of that happened in P5S. Heck, even if you choose the option to say onsen are great, as if to imply that overhearing the girls talk about their boobs is great, Ryuji gets embarrassed about the topic and immediately tries to change the subject. Watch any anime from the 2000s or earlier, and the goofy, masculine archetype, like Ryuji, would have not only agreed, but would have suggested sneaking a peek at the girls' onsen. I'm actually really surprised that the Kyoto onsen scene didn't result in fanservice, because that's usually what happens. Even in anime where the boys know to escape fast instead of sneaking a peep, there's usually a screw up where they'll Rube-Goldberg-trip into girls' boobs or trip into full-view of the girls without their towels. Any other anime or Japanese media would have done that. It's typical, expected. "Anime is gonna anime." And yet, none of that normalized perversion happened in that scene. Persona 5 Scramble/Strikers, including Ryuji, did a whole lot less "dumb horny teenage boy stuff", suggesting Ryuji was growing out of that with time. Because even if Ryuji can be a little bit of a "dumb horny teen", he still knows better than that, is curbing such inclinations, and is a much better person than to increasingly act on or nurture such inclinations.
Ryuji is a good boy. Please don't conflate him with Kamoshitty.

I thought this Tweet was saying that the overall writing, using Ryuji as a mechanic for "pervert comedy" was a bad decision from Atlus's writers, especially since it contradicted the themes of the Kamoshida Palace story arc. I actually agree with that.

I see that you tried to save the first sentence, with your second sentence---which I agree with: I agree that the writing made an awful decision in having Ryuji or any character sexualize their female friends, after the sexual abuse they suffered. But your first sentence was still very strongly implying that Ryuji as a character is a problem, more than the writing injecting out-of-characterization into the character that they had already established with Ryuji thus far. That wording was just kindling waiting to start a firestorm. ~_~;

That was suppose to be on anon so ignore that last one Marcus growing up and I'm high school going to art museums with a shy girl who doesn't talk much and he developed a crush on her
i saw this and said ‘perfect. lets get some soft pining marcus pike up in this bitch’ and then i did. i think. (and trust me im def ignoring you. idk who you are). ((and im not saying that the reason marcus works in the ART department is bec of his first love, but...that’s exactly what i’m saying)).
-marcus still remembers you from time to time, even though its been, what? 25 years since he last saw you? he’s been through one divorce, one rushed and broken engagement. he doesn’t even want to think about the failed girlfriends. yet he still thinks about you.
-he’s always been a romantic, a sensitive kid. he gave the bullies in school as good as he got, but he had a kind soul.
-he blames that very soul for the reason he can’t seem to stop thinking about you.
-you had gone to elementary school together. then middle school. he wasn’t even sure at first, but then, yes, he saw you in high school too.
-the two of you knew each other and were friendly, always saying a passing hello when you saw each other, not afraid to goof around together after school with a few friends. but he never really knew you.
-he guessed your favorite color from your backpack and the shoes you wore almost every day. you knew your favorite band in middle school when it seemed like all your friends could talk about. he knew the park that you would hang out at with your friends because he hung out there too. on the other side. with his friends.
-he always wanted to know more. wished that you wanted to know him too. but he didn’t know how to talk to you.
-you were quiet, though not nearly as sensitive as some people made you out to be. when you were younger, bullies had often gotten bored of you, and instead of being a target, you were usually left behind. you didn’t let it bother you, content with your books and your art and the few friends you actually liked.
-you remember marcus, the brave boy who couldn’t bear to see others being put down. you decided you liked him. he was nice to you, smiled in the hallways. sometimes you liked to think he liked you, but you chalked it off as wishful thinking.
-marcus really wished he could have told you he liked you. but he was awkward, and gangly teenager, and surely someone as pretty and smart like you wouldn’t be impressed. but when you were both in high school, and he...accidentally asked you out, he could have punched himself when he saw how easily you agreed to it.
-you had been in english class, were supposed to be working on a group project when somehow the subject of art had come up. he noticed the way your eyes flashed and a smile tugged at your lips, and next thing he knew he was nudging you into talking about what you thought, and you mentioned one of your favorite artists, and that jogged his memory.
-his mom had gotten some flier in the mail, some discount on museum admission. he remembered because she stuck it to the fridge saying the family should go and he rolled his eyes at the thought of being dragged around an art museum with his sisters and his parents over the weekend.
-but suddenly the thought of walking around a museum didn’t sound so unappealing. before he knew it he was telling you about it, saying maybe ‘we could check it out sometime. it sounds cool.’
-he wanted to hit himself. sounds cool. how dumb was he?
-but then you were smiling, tucking your hair behind your ear and agreeing. he couldn’t believe it. by the end of the day, the two of you already agreed on a day and time to meet. he didn’t want to have to ask his parents for a ride (he didn’t have his license yet but he sure as hell wasn’t driving you and his dad) but then he said ‘bike’ and you had just gotten a new one and it seemed like fate.
-you had thought about hesitating when marcus mentioned going to the museum together but...it was marcus. you’ve technically known each other since you were five. and maybe you really wanted to do something cool like this. was it a date? were you just friends? you didn’t even care at this point, it was progress.
-when marcus makes it home after school, he runs straight to his room, busy with ‘homework.’ he looks up the museum immediately, writes down the names of the displayed artists and looks them up too. he knows you take this stuff seriously, and if he finally has this chance to impress you, he’s not going to waste it.
-late that night when he satisfied he’s got a good background on anything that could come up, he remembers its only wednesday.
-next day in class he makes sure to sit directly next to you, unofficially assigned seats be damned. it’s a little gesture, but it speaks volumes. and when he walks out with you to your next class you think about it for the rest of the day.
-the two of you see each other in class, between classes as the next two days pass. neither of you are counting down the time til saturday afternoon. definitely not.
-when the time arrives, and marcus pulls up on your driveway, he finally feels the nerves. sure, he was nervous before, but it was excitement too. now the settling panic of going up to your house and talking to you was too much. but then he sees you coming from the garage, walking your bike next you and wearing the cutest smile he’s ever seen.
-and a dress. a really nice dress. well, casual enough, but you look nice and he thinks he tries to tell you that but it doesn’t come out right because you’re laughing at him, but then you say he looks nice too, and he feels underdressed now, but you’re already getting on your bike and adjusting your skirt and looking at him with a smile before asking “ready?”
-he has to put a lot of effort into not sounding like a loon. he settles for a smile and a “sure.”
-in retrospect, he should have considered that the place would be packed today. there was a flier that went out to the whole town for goodness sake. and its a saturday. in fairness, the line to enter didn’t take too long, but there certainly were a lot of awkward pauses in conversation that made it feel longer. you had your hands clasped in front of you. he kept his in his pockets.
-the exhibits were fine. he could tell you appreciated them, went up to inspect every single one. sometimes he joined you. sometimes he stepped back and appreciated you.
-he jumped in too, tried to bring up something he had studied. you smiled at him every time, even when he got it wrong. and it didn’t matter, because then you came right back and told him everything, explained it better than he had ever heard it.
-you talked to him and he would never forget it. with each piece, each fact you shared he felt like he knew you better. there was never an awkward silence after that.
-when you finally reached the new exhibit, it was packed. the two of you stood at the entryway for a few minutes, hoping that the crowd would thin. when only more people shoved their way in, you looked ready to give up.
-you offered to move on, take one last loop around before leaving. marcus wouldn’t have any of it. you wanted to see the display, it was a collection of female painters from europe, and he was going to make sure you did. besides, he couldn’t deny he had an ulterior motive.
-he reached over to grab your hand, clasping it tightly in his, before he gave you a boyish grin and dragged you in. he pulled you through the throng of people, making sure you were with him the whole time, getting you up close.
-he stood at your back as you looked, keeping you close and protected. you stood there, a hand still in his, and you didn’t even see the painting. all you could do was think about him. surely this was a date?
-he asks you about the paintings. you tell him the bare minimum and hope it’s okay. he’s been so great the whole day, you never even realized he liked the same things you did.
-you spend another half hour in just the one room, looking over each piece. he tries to share something again, but he got the name of the painter wrong. you correct him, but he doesn’t even care because you’re still holding his hand.
-you keep talking after that day. he comes after school to the art club sometimes, you take a history class together. trips to museums become a more regular thing, and so does going to dinner. he kisses you at your back door, runs away as soon as he knows you’re in safe. he remembers things were good.
-he had decided in middle school he loved you, but he swore he fell even harder that day.
-but he also remembers it doesn’t last. first you move, then he does too. there had been a couple of phone calls, but it just wasn’t the same. he actually considers art school for a time, but between knowing his parents disapproval and his skills as an artist, he takes a different path, and art classes are just his elective. still he wonders if you went.
-even now he remembers you fondly. your ‘no care’ attitude on the outside, yet how deeply you cared on the inside. maybe it’s the idea of a first love that he keeps coming back to, even though he knows he doesn’t know you now. you come up in his mind, unbidden yet still welcome.
-he’s working when he sees you again. he’s been called to the national gallery of art--there’s been suspicions surrounding the transfer of an incoming painting from the louvre--and you’re there. you’re standing there, working, and he doesn’t even know what to think.
-you look as though you’ve barely changed. older sure, and your hair is different, you dress differently too. but he knows the shape of your face, the quirk of your lips. you even stand the same way, that little lean and jut of your hip.
-he doesn’t even realize he’s just standing there smiling at your profile until he hears someone call his name. and that’s when you notice him. you have only known one ‘marcus pike’ in your life, but you are surprised to hear it prefixed by ‘agent’.
-you see his back--broad shoulders in a trim suit, brown hair that is kept neat, but longer than the marcus you knew. he turns finally, and you see the beard. you can’t even be sure. there are some similarities to the boy you knew but...you meet his eyes.
-it’s him. it’s definitely him. you see the museum director still talking to him, but he’s smiling at you. you can’t help but smile back. you really hope he’s listening, because your employer is not very forgiving.
-your attention is taken away soon enough, but as soon as you both have a moment, he striding to you and you turn to him. he says your name like a question, as though he can’t believe its you. you respond with an amused “marcus” and it’s enough for him.
-he goes for a hug, and you happily meet him. then you’re both asking each other so many questions at once, neither of you can get a word in. its all laughs and smiles, and you learn that not is he just an agent, but an fbi agent in the art department. it might be the sexiest job you’ve heard of, right behind archeology.
-you tell him about yourself, how you’ve been in dc for the last 10 years, how you got this dream job restoring the famous works you had so admired. he’s proud of you, he says so. you don’t know how to ask if he has a family. surely he does.
-marcus finds himself looking at your hands all too often, but they’re blocked by the clipboard you hold. it feels so easy to talk to you again, even after all these years. as though you were the sort of friends that couldn’t be separated by time. when he finally catches a glance at your left hand, he feels relief when he doesn’t see a ring. it may not mean too much, but its something.
-he suggests lunch and you agree. you talk about work, the city, your pasts. it feels like putting on an old jacket that still fits. broken in and familiar. for the first time since his move to dc, marcus feels hope. if all the heartbreak he’d endured, all the blood and sweat he put into his job had gotten him nothing but a new, empty apartment maybe he’d still feel like he did. but now he knows you’re in dc, and he can’t help but think it’s fate.

i’ve recently had a major epiphany but i have no clue if it’s accurate.... i feel like people sometimes say that tim was “made to be robin” and that’s why he can’t move on and then everyone’s like “yeah dude so were the first two”, so i think why that is is bc tim wasn’t really set up to be anybody else until red robin began?....like dick and bruce fought and so did jason and bruce while they were still robin but tim didn’t really. fight? like that? like the major fight i can think of is his 16th birthday and as far as i can recall that was just pretty much smoothed over by the end of the arc? (i could be totally wrong i read this like last year) but in rr tim is fighting with dick about being robin and what the next step is, which he didn’t really do with bruce in the same kind of all-out argument way. like even damian and steph had their own conflicts with bruce, and dc didn’t really have that much trouble shuffling them out of the mantle.... i guess tim just needs to start yelling at bruce to get to age past 17..... anyways i could be completely off base here and forgetting something major so sry for the essay
LMAO no need to be sorry, I get that logic!! I definitely think that plays a part of it.
My personal take is that the biggest factor in Tim’s current perma-Robin state is just how bad the reboot fucked with things. Because before the New 52, Tim as Red Robin like... it was way more distinct from the Robin role than it is now! He had an actual reason he had to stop being Robin (Damian becoming Robin, thus Tim getting booted from the role), like the previous Robins had had reasons to stop (Dick getting fired, Jason dying, and also Steph was fired) and he was trying to re-establish himself and figure out who he was separately, and he was like... doing it! He was making his own base, he had his own kinda connections of people outside just the immediate fam (Lonnie, Pru, Tam his social relationship kinda fell apart with but work wise she was still there) he was still trying to figure out the direction at the very end, sure, but he wasn’t stagnant how he is now. He was very clearly on the path to grow into his own thing but it just got cut short.
When the New 52 first happened they had established that ‘Red Robin’ had been what he was first, that he hadn’t even actually been Robin originally! That he chose to go by ‘Red Robin’ out of respect for the Robin role having died with Jason (until Damian came along), that was the reasoning they gave. Even though Rebirth fixed this and re-established Tim having been Robin before Red Robin, the damage was still kinda done, because the New 52 treating Red Robin like that kinda... turned Red Robin into really just being Robin 2 instead of how in the pre-reboot world it had been something Tim was making into it’s own independent role. And then with the memory resurfacing things and the YJ relaunch they just straight up were like ‘fuck it its Robin time’ with him again, which I totally understood bc it made sense for a YJ nostalgia thing, but like, putting him back like that as a ‘forever’ thing just... not only is it making him stagnant it arguably borders on pushing him backwards as a character.
Which is why I think at this point he needs a new separate identity, because Red Robin is too directly tied to the Robin role now, way more than it had been before the New 52. And if he just stays in this Robin/Red Robin zone, nothings gonna... happen with him. He is not going to develop more, DC doesn’t know what to do with him there because while yes with a lot of roles there can be multiple people having it, if one Robin has an ongoing solo they’re probably not gonna be promoting much with a second Robin too. He needs a new identity to find a more unique space in the family for himself. And, based on the description for his Urban Legends story, “seeking a new purpose” feels like they could be starting to finally set this up.
Drake was the right kind of idea, just with a stupid name and a not great costume, but honestly the bigger problem with it was there wasn’t a real motivation for it beyond ‘evil earth-3 me said this thing.. ooooo’ like that’s not... quite enough. I think I’d agree that a conflict either with Bruce or someone else in the fam would be a much better source of that motivation, like, it needs to be something where he feels pushed to the point that he can’t be Robin/a Robin equivalent anymore, either by choice or because he got fired or something. It definitely could be something more internal, but it just would need to be handled better than the Drake thing was LMAO.
idk if that makes sense in response to what you said, but I def don’t think you’re wrong or anything, that definitely plays a part in this. I think just... in general... DC is kinda lost on what to do with Tim right now and I really hope they figure it out soon.

So I binged watched High School Musical: The Musical: The Series (Hsmtmts) season 1 about a month back. Now I'm watching season 2. As many, I was surprised to semi like this show. I'm impressed with how unique it is. I won't lie some things have irritated me or disappointed me, but honestly it's better than I thought. A little too much about relationship drama in season 2, but the moments about other stuff is really good. Holy heck all the kids are so talented, they all have such great voices. Can't wait to watch more. That aside I feel like season 2 is getting better, cannot wait to see the next episode. 2x09 looks really good in the promo which prompted me to think about how I feel about each character or couple. I loved that they brought back pretty much the same 6 background 'chorus dancers' in season 2. I know there's more, but actually including them like thed New years party, Improve, and the Quinceanero.
I know I may be hated for this, however I do not ship any of the four 'main' at the moment, they all have so much to work on. But my hsmtmts weird venting of feelings rant. Sorry in advance.

Nini & Ricky - First and for most I never shipped them after the first break up and the slow burn throughout the rehearsals for hsm. Not sure what exactly it was but they just didn't work for me. Communication was such a big problem for them right from the flashbacks, and I know it's a Disney show but a whole year to say 'I love you' felt strange when later we practically see them eating each other blah. Something did not work for me. Their chemistry died part way through season 2. Falling in love with your first love and bestfriend is really precious, but also so heartbreaking at the same time especially if things don't work. Because you never want to lose the friendship. Ricky was becoming too much and treating her terribly, which she absolutely did not deserve. Nini deserves to be independent, she is very talented I won't deny that, but I feel sad because she seems too disconnected from the group even with her bestfriend Kourt despite them placing the two together the last two episodes, something just seems off. (Now this may be just my bias of usually hating main characters when there's a larger cast trickling in) She's still amazing and I hope they can write her independent growth and connection to her friends a bit better, and give us something to look forward to for her character. She needs to learn how to communicate and not hide behind songs or running away. Also proud that she said she wasn't returning from Yac completely for Rocky, which would have been stupid. I would not want to see her give up her dream because he wanted her to. Now I will say their second break up was so mature and beautifully done though and glad she has her fans and music to help her get through. I want to see Nini lean on her mom's for support. Hope she gets an interesting storyline that can showcase how super talented Olivia is with that incredible voice, can't wait to hear more💖
Ricky, well dang this boy needs therapy. He has so many problems he needs to work through. He seriously needs the support of his parents and friends to help him through his break up and abandonment issues. He was becoming pretty scary during season 2, it was making me so uncomfortable. He doesn't like change and yes that's hard to get through but yikes he was almost becoming toxic in some ways. I also know it's very hard to break trauma engraved feelings. Ricky was so insecure that he had to delete a comment from Nini's insta, honestly felt kind of out of character(felt like it was reverting back to season 1 with Ej being jealous, and I did not like it). He's a great character and I hope they show him getting help and working on his issues. I know they showed him with his Mom, Lynn in the 2x09 promo(which is so hard because I don't like her) so I hope it works out and she can help him or that they can have a genuine heart to heart conversation about her actions and how they impacted him. Still don't forgive her for everything so put Ricky through in the first season. He looks so sad and I hope they focus on his mental health and concerns before even thinking about any other relationship drama(wishful thinking...). So happy Ricky had Big Red, those scenes in the montage were so precious and heartwrenching. Big Red just knew Ricky needed him. I want to see more of that friendship grow because it felt slightly lacked in season 2 but that could because he was too focused on Nini and that the rest of the group was growing. I hope they do not let Ricky and Lily happen, that would be such a mistake. Josh is crazy talented can't wait to hear more🧡
Gina - Gosh this girl just needs a big ass hug. I feel so sad and constantly worried about her. That would be so hard constantly moving around never feeling grounded anywhere. I really liked that Ashlyn tried to help with developing a 'home' for Gina. Gina being so independently powerful and strong-willed is a great attribute to who she is and I loved her fierceness in season 1, but I feel like I haven't seen much of that this season, still like her a lot. It just seems she's sadly always putting on a brace face, which makes me feel awful for her. Her pining of Ricky is my least favorite thing about her. I get feelings can develop and with how she fell for him in season 1 and he chose Nini in the end was really sad. But I must say I felt disheartened when she thought Ricky was the one to send her the chocolates on valentines day and was mortified they turned that miscommunication into a joke. Nope, that was not something I liked at all, it felt forced. Yes, they work/see each other in the musical, but with the confused feelings they both shared they really should have backed away from each other to figure things out until both know exactly what they want. It's not fair to each other or Nini and Ej. I don't ship Rina though. Gina in episode 2x05 had me so sad for her, she deserves the world and I was so sad she was internally saying goodbye to everyone. I hope we see her and he mom work on things that will be the best to support Gina. I 100% do not want to see Gina and Jack be a thing, I know they're actors but nope that would be too strange after watching Sofia and Asher as tweens on Andi Mack. Also they really went there with the 'I feel like I know you' seem familiar scene, why? I cringed, I know it's a nod to Andi Mack fans who most probably now watch hsmtmts. I hope we continue to see her friendships grow with everyone. Sofia is so dang talented💚
Ej - I just want to say he went from being hated, to one of the favorite characters in season 2. He became so likeable. Carlos' comment about emotion in the song Gaston was big progress from the scene in season one between the pair, it was nice honestly. I really like Ej's relationship with Mr. Mazzara and hope that he continues to support Ej. I think that can be very good. I also love Ashlyn and Ej's relationship. I hope we eventually see a apology scene or talking scene between Nini and Ej. I really do not like Portwell and I'm so sorry to the fans. But I just don't ship it. I would love them to be good friends and be supportive of each other, their conversation was nice in the 2x08. I hope we see more of his interactions with different characters and continue to see his relationships develop. Ej and Duke well that is a whole other thing. Him acknowledging his privilege and how he didn't earn it was great character progress and very interesting to see. I did feel super sad for Ej, because the boy clearly works so hard with all the clubs and teams he's on, his high gpa, as well as his many other extra curriculars. His Dad, Cash making calls was ridiculous and I'm so proud of Ej telling him he's not going to Duke. I hope we get to see Ej grow independently. However, the promo for 2x09 shows Ej either packing or unpacking boxes with Ashlyn in the room during the zoom call. So I'm worried it's either him helping Gina move out, or the more likely option. Cash Caswell kicked Ej out over him saying he did not want to go to Duke at the end of 2x08. Ej has so much pressure on him. Gah please let Matt sing more, his voice is incredible💛
Ashlyn & Big Red - Redlyn is really sweet and I hope things work out between them regarding them not going through more jealously and relationship drama. I do wish the writers would have explored Ashlyn's insecurities a bit more and with more than just Big Red. I did not like the using her insecurities as comedy in some scenes. Ashlyn being a Disney princess is amazing and such a good thing to showcase. I liked the way they went with Big Red and the career stuff. I see absolutely nothing wrong with him wanting to continue his families legacy and proud that he said that to Ash. Also was happy to see them working that out and her understanding and accepting that. When she finally agreed I was very happy. I don't hate Antoine, but I def don't want to see some weird love triangle glad they said they were working through that. I really want to see more of them together and separate as they're a really cute couple and I think could survive their relationship with independent plot lines. The valentines moments were too sweet. I want to see more scenes with Ashlyn and Ej as I feel they have lacked this season. So, I definitely want to see more of them together as besides drama club, they are part of very different circles so I was shocked to see them so close. However, the more we learned about the Caswells, it appears they grew up alone and only with each other, neither of their parents being home. With her throwing all the parties and him being at her house often and correct me if I'm wrong he sleeps in the spare room quite a bit after parties or in general at her house. Although he did just knock/ring the doorbell in 2x08 which I don't think we've seen before. And his mind else where with Duke and probably his crush nerves somehow forgot Gina was living with Ashlyn. Julia's voice is fantastic that high note in the mob song was just wow. Larry can really sing so well dang, glad he got to sing more in season 2. I cannot wait to hear more from them❤
Carlos & Seb - Seblos is absolutely adorable, that might be biased though because of Joe and Frankie! Even though they are playing characters I feel like there's a little of them that slips through sometimes and I find myself smiling. I hope this fight that keeps being spoken about can be resolved easily. I'll be really sad if not. My heart feels for Seb, as I get Miss Jen doesn't see him as a leading man but she broke barriers once with him being Sharpay which was awesome, he was amazing. So, I hope Seb gets a bigger part in the next musical, and that he and Carlos can work through their relationship dynamic and problems. Really sad to constantly see Seb be told no and disregarded. I want that to change and see him stand up for himself. I don't like that they're portraying him as 'dumb' honestly. Always hate those characters in shows. Sure they say funny things but it's weird. Carlos looks like he's overworking himself and being there for everyone that isn't Seb. Carlos does need to focus on himself a bit and find time for him. Gah I was so happy to see some of Frankie's own heritage represented in the show in 2x05. Carlos' relationship with Miss Jen definitely weirded me out initially😅 I thought the plant growing with them was adorable and the meaning behind the Climb was great, just too cute. I've saw someone mention they think Ricky is going to be going through too many personal problems and be unable to perform and that Seb would take over, which I honestly agree this will happen. Hope to see so much more with them. Definitely hope to hear more singing!!! Gah Frankie and Joe's voices are incredible. They both need to sing way more💜
Kourtney - I still cannot believe she was only meant to be a one or two episode character, she's incredible and I'm so happy they made her more than just Nini's bestfriend who the main character whines to. I loved how they incorporated her as an asset and fashion/costume designer. She's headstrong and so very talented. Really glad they added Kourtney as a cast member to the musical. I mean her step in scene as Taylor was funny, but it's nice to see her break out of her box a little. I hope her relationship does not deter her future and headstrong nature. I really really want to see her relationship grow with other characters that aren't Nini as they were starting to before she came back. Seb and Kourt were great. I'm still indifferent about Howie and Kourtney after everything that has happened with North High. The Harry Potter references were too great though. Can't wait to see where else they go with her character and even Howie. Dara and Roman have such amazing and jaw dropping voices. Dang I want to hear more singing from them both💙
So that was a long winded explanation of how I've been feeling. The show is amazing with such young and talented actors playing awesome characters can't wait to see where else they go with them. Definitely need more singing and dancing.

Critique day, Y/N’s least favorite day.
She would walk into her class high hopes, thinking maybe this time her classmates and professor would praise her work. And every time, with everyone else’s work magnetted to the whiteboard, Y/N would see that her work was not in fact the best, nor was it remotely close to the level of creativity that others were at.
And it doesn’t help that the professor pointed out all of what she did wrong. Either the lighting was off, something could’ve been further edited in photoshop, placement wasn’t correct, or the subject wasn’t in crisp focus. Anything and everything you could possibly imagine, Y/N presumes she’s been called out on it.
Today—as predicted—was not a good day.
“Y/N,” Bucky called after her when she walked right past him. She continued walking, though at a slow pace, waiting for him to catch up with her. He did with two or three hurried strides, “What’s wrong?”
“Were you waiting for me?” Y/N changed the subject slyly. “Did we have something planned?”
Bucky stammered, “No, no, we didn’t. That’s actually what I’m here for,” he offered a reassuring smile. “I wanted to see if you maybe wanted to go get some lunch?”
There was a pause before Y/N mustered up a response. “I would love to but I’m just not that hungry, thanks though.” Her voice had that usual innocence to it, it was hard for Bucky to come back at her and call her out on the bullshit.
“Then you can watch me eat,” Bucky joked but Y/N didn’t budge. That’s when he knew that something was seriously bothering her because even at his worst and effortless jokes, she would laugh or let out that adorable giggle he loved.
Bucky let out something in between a groan and a sigh, commenting further, “Come on, doll I wanted to spend time with you today. The next few days are busy for me, and for you, too.”
“I just wanna go home, Buck.”
“You mad at me for somethin’? Or just not interested in me anymore?” They stopped in their track, face to face, people passing them by. Y/N sighed and leaned forward to press her forehead into the crevasse of Bucky’s chest. “What is it?”
“I’m a failure,” her voice was low and muffled.
“Doll, don’t be saying that crap. You’re not a failure, not one bit.” She finally pulled back and glanced up to Bucky with glazed over eyes. “Want me to come over and cook? I make great hot dogs.”
“No, no hot dogs.”
“Okay, well I’m sure I can figure out something to make.” Bucky cut her off just before she rose her head to speak, “And don’t say you’re not hungry. You just had nearly a three hour class.”
“I just wanna be alone, for now Buck,” Y/N let out with probably too much force.
“Alright,” his voice was delicate. “If that’s what you want.”
“No, I’m sorry,” she reached for his hand, keeping him still. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean that. I’m just so stressed over everything.”
“Here’s what we’ll do,” Bucky rested his hands on her shoulders. “You’re gonna go to your apartment and decompress from today. Okay?”
“I’m sorry.”
“Stop apologizing. I’ll come over at six-ish to cook us some dinner. Deal?”
Y/N leaned up on her toes to press a kiss to his cheek, “You’re the best.”
“Get home safe,” he held her briefly, leaning down to press a kiss to her temple, feeling her close her eyes on cue.
“Yup,” Y/N chirped with a much brighter smile, and happier persona overall, than before. “I’ll text you when I’m home.”
Hours later the two were on the couch, Y/N telling him about her downfall of that day, Bucky staying quiet and just allowing for her to vent every bit of stress out. Occasionally, he would place his hand on her knee or grab ahold of her hand and tangle his fingers with her, all in a reassuring manner.
“So you were upset today because you didn’t like the way your photos came out?” Bucky’s flat voice sounded the room over the movie they were watching, long forgotten now.
“That’s the gist of it,” Y/N let out a long sigh.
“Can I see them?”
“Um, I’d rather not.”
“Why?”
“Because I don’t wanna think about it. I thought you came over to distract me.” Y/N cupped his cheek with one hand and brought him in for a short kiss.
Bucky nodded with a smug smile, “I never said that.”
“Well you could, you know?” Another kiss, trailing longer than the previous. “Distract me.” He pushed back on her shoulder with a gentle touch, ultimately, separating her from his lips to which she responded with a pout. “Why won’t you?”
“Let me see your photos.”
“My god, you’re stubborn.” Y/N nudged him as she passed by him and grabbed her laptop from the other room, typing in the password with one hand so she could get through with it as quick as possible. She stopped in front of him, gazing down sternly at him, “Whatever you say, don’t make fun.”
“Y/N, I’m sure whatever you show me is a thousand times better than what I could ever produce.”
“Here,” she handed him the laptop, “just use the arrows to go through them all.”
“What’s so wrong with these photos that you don’t like them?”
“They’re shit.”
“These are amazing, Y/N. You need to give yourself more credit.” Bucky continued through the collection of photos that she turned in for her assignment and with each and every one, he was blown away at her creativity.
“What’s the final verdict?” Y/N questioned when he reached the last photo.
“That you are an amazing photographer, and everybody who says otherwise about your work, they’re all idiots.”
“You’re biased.”
“I mean it. I might not know the technicality of whatever it was you were trying to achieve but I think your photos look great.” Y/N grinned up at him, growing timid and hiding her face into his shoulder. Bucky pressed a kiss to her head, “And I’m not biased.”
“I guess I’ll have to believe that you’re not. I know what you are, though.”
Bucky hummed in question, wrapping his arm around, maneuvering her closer. “What’s that?”
“The best boyfriend.”
“Considering your long list of boyfriends, that means a lot.”
“Shut up,” Y/N laughed, her fingers attacking his ribs making him jolt up.
“So I’m your boyfriend now, huh?” He was teasing her back, Y/N trying to block herself.
“Well if you want to be. You’re over all the time, we go on dates, we make out and do … other things. I mean, it only makes sense. We just have to make it official.”
Bucky nodded in agreement, taking her words into consideration. In the seconds following, he stood up with a dramatic groan, still holding Y/N’s hand as she sat up on the couch. “What are you doing?” Y/N furrowed her brows.
“You wanted official. This is gonna be official as it gets, babe.” In the teeny floor space between the couch and the coffee table, Bucky went down on one knee with that same award winning smile Y/N was occasionally met with. With a squeeze of her hand, he questioned, “Y/N L/N, will you do me the great honor of becoming my girlfriend?”
Y/N’s body fluttered with warmth and in that moment, she was just about certain Bucky was the one. That maybe one day he would be on his knee again asking her a different question.
“You gonna leave me hangin’?”
“Yes, I will be your girlfriend.” She plastered her hands on his face, moving forward to kiss him. “My muse.”
