These scars ain’t nothing new to me
Goodbyes ain’t nothing new to me
Empty hearts, we fall apart
I seen it all before

Though it may hurt, for a moment, maybe two -
I shall never neglect,
Choose to forget,
Or repent,
Away the entirety of the vast array of emotions that add color to my life.
Oh -,
How important it is to feel with my whole heart🫀

I haven't been as active on here this year as I've been struggling a lot with my mental health and bipolar diagnosis. I've been super self-conscious of this diagnosis because of the very few portrayals of bipolar disorder I've seen in media, they've always been shown as bad people who can't control themselves and harm others. And while the portrayal in Daily Dose of Sunshine was still on the extreme side, the character was allowed her own voice. To share how being bipolar felt, and to me that description rang true.
While I'm not the biggest fan of the very extreme impulses (and neither is my bank account) the extreme confidence that comes with manic bipolar disorder has brought me some of the happiest moments of my life and I'm glad that Ri-an expressed that. There is no greater feeling on earth than not caring about what others think of you and I've never felt that more than I have during a manic episode.
And it wasn't just the bipolar characters' description of her own illness that brought happy tears to my eyes, but the ways that her doctors and nurses described her illness with kindness and compassion. It may seem like a given to some people (if it does you have truly been blessed with your health care practitioners), but not all doctors/nurses talk to or about their patients with dignity and respect. I'm glad that Daily Dose of Sunshine went down the path of showing doctors/nurses who truly care and want to make their patients lives better, and I'm also loving the way their describing these illnesses with compassion to seem less scary than I think a lot of people think they are.
I'm only on episode three but I'm very excited to see which disorders/illnesses are tackled next.

Catherine had seasons of gloom and silence now and then: they were respected with sympathising silence by her husband, who ascribed them to an alteration in her constitution, produced by her perilous illness; as she was never subject to depression of spirits before. The return of sunshine was welcomed by answering sunshine from him. I believe I may assert that they were really in possession of deep and growing happiness.
