james: has to be someone who is smart and would be honest with him

remus: has to be someone who wears their heart on their sleeve

sirius: has to be someone who is a dork and that he'd be friends with first

peter: has to be someone powerful and/or popular

lily: has to be someone who plays a sport

mary: no one

marlene: has to be someone who is just as, if not more, competitive than her

emmeline: has to be someone who she likes a lot more than they like her (she's got some issues,,)

dorcas: has to be someone who gets obsessive about things

regulus: has to be someone who understands him, at least to some degree

pandora: has to be someone who's very weird but also ambitious

I simply do not understand why marauders fans make ship names using nouns/adjectives. Just combine their names like a normal fandom. And half the time you can’t even tell what ship it’s supposed to be. I saw flower used three times for three different people in different ships. This system makes no sense. And then people will use completely different reasonings for the adjectives. Like rosekiller, rose because it’s his last name and killer because he fucking kills people like what? It is so confusing to me guys. Please stop this madness.

Mary MacDonald was never first, never second, and rarely ever third. Her whole life her motto was ‘top five is best. Top five is best.’ If she managed to make it to the top 5 in anything she was ok. She was normal. People liked her, and they weren’t just pretending. When she figured out she was a wizard, and she was going to this prestigious school, she knew something was going to happen to her. She wasn't a normal wizard, and she was black. She wasn't ready for this 'posh' school.

She had joined Hogwarts unhopeful, but as time went on, she had become more and more hopeful. She had found friends who might've actually liked her, and friends who were muggleborn like her. She struggled with magic a lot, even though all her friends (even muggleborn) were good at it, were fantastic at it even. She was slowly failing classes, but she had tried so hard.

She always spent hours and hours studying and failing and failing and studying and studying. Alone. Eventually she asked for help, but had felt so weak doing it, she never asked for help again. She had to be in the top five, she worked harder and harder, and she was.

She loved her friends, they were her everything, they made living bearable, and she was in the top five for some of them. People loved her.

can we talk about how the valkyries/marauders era girls are so just mischaracterized?

like here we have james, the funny, smart, prankster father of harry potter. might be immature sometimes. "the sun" "golden retriever" sirius: the bad-boy, a black sheep, sarcastic and snarky. remus, the smart, studious, gentle werewolf. and even peter: sometimes misunderstood, insecure, funny friend.

how about the girls?

lily is harry's know it all perfect mom. either james' gf or jegulus's enemy. marlene is reduced to a sirius variant. mary: popular black girl. shipped with either lily or marlene.

now, despite the pantheon/skittles having little mention in the books (excluding regulus), evan, barty, and reg all have tangible fanmade personalities. the girls?

dorcas: smart black girl. marlene's girlfriend. pandora: evan's spacey twin sister.

it's very strange how nobody creates content about friendships between the girls. there's lots about remus and lily being friends, sirius and marlene, etc. but the girls are almost only talked about in shipping, whether it's with each other or with a guy.

this is NOT saying to stop posting about dorlene or jily or pandalily etc. this is me asking you to ask yourself: why don't you care about marlene and mary being friends as much as james and sirius' friendship?

Have you ever seen an author write in the notes that its going to be long and then look at the chapter count and see that its like 20-30 chapters and just go "thats so short???" Like not in a derogatory way, I just have read fics that are like 200 chapters, with multiple in a series, so I'm like this is a piece of cake!! Idk this was supposed to be kind of a rag on the fact that I'm a nerd who consumes any and all literature as fast as possible?? But now it sounds like I'm ragging on authors but I stg I'm not!!!
