I love how Danny and Vlad talk so casually in this scene. Like there is a whole ghost invasion going on and these two talk like they are having tea.

Author’s note: Wanted to experiment a bit so I did a little something for @blanceverlast
"What do you mean I'm a surrogate baby?" I ask my parents.
"Well, JJ, you know we've had fertility issues, so we turned to surrogacy for help," my mom explains, but I narrow my eyes, questioning why this revelation is only surfacing now.
"Well, your 'mom' would like to meet you," my mother adds.
"And what does she do?" I ask, puzzled.
The plane ride to South Korea overwhelmed me; I never imagined my "mom" would be so far away. Yet, surrogacy can originate from anywhere, I suppose. As I sit in the back of the plane, my seatmate approaches.
She wears a mask, yet there's an enchanting aura about her. Smiling (or at least I assume so, judging by her eyes), she sits beside me. The plane takes off, and we sit in silence. Despite my efforts to stay awake, exhaustion eventually overtakes me, and I drift off to sleep.
Upon awakening, I feel a lightweight on my shoulders. I crane my neck to see my seatmate. Her mask has slipped down, revealing her face. As our eyes meet, arousal floods through me.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to bother you," she says, smiling.
Enraptured by her beauty, I stumble over my response. "I'd love it if you bothered me. Wait, no... you're no bother."
She smiles and sits up across from me. "Call me Haseul," she says with a pleasant voice. I smile back, extending my hand for her to shake.
"JJ charmed to meet you," I reply. Haseul takes my hand happily.
"So, what brings you to Korea?" she inquires.
I hesitate, searching for an appropriate response. "Um, my surrogate wanted to meet me," I reply. Haseul looks at me, puzzled, before smiling.
"Okay," she says before taking out her tablet. I glance over her shoulder, and she catches me.
"Do you like Kaiju research?" she teases, having caught me off guard. Surprisingly, I enthusiastically replied yes. Haseul's eyes flicker with interest.
"Oh? Then look this over and tell me what you see," she says confidently, handing me the tablet. I study the notes and diagrams, absorbing the information.
"This is a new species of Kaiju," I declare.
Haseul looks surprised. "Wait, how did you deduce all of that from my research?"
"Well, the DNA sequence at the 8th and 24th helix links is wholly different from any other Kaiju in the same family. Plus, if you examine the dorsal plates aligning with the spine, there's an unusual vein structure depicted in them," I explain.
Haseul's eyes widen in astonishment. "How did you notice all of that?"
"I like Kaiju," I admit.
Haseul looks impressed and asks me to go over all the research she just completed. Over the next several hours, we fill the time pouring over her findings. By the end of the flight, we've barely scratched the surface of this new Kaiju she accidentally discovered.
"Shit, we need more time. Hey, when you're done visiting your 'surrogate,' come to this lab," Haseul says as we pack up. She hands me a business card and her personal cell number. As we prepare to go our separate ways upon landing, I notice a dark-skinned woman who sees me and says, "James?" I look at her before Haseul pops up behind me.
"Yuma, you know JJ?" Haseul asks.
"Yes, he's my son," Yuma replies in English before saying something else in Korean that I don't understand.
Haseul's eyes widened as she smiled knowingly. The two women led me to a van, and we all piled in. Yuma remained silent for a while before speaking up, "You're probably hungry, James. Are you in the mood for anything?" she asked hopefully.
I nodded, replying, "Teriyaki Chicken sounds great about now." Haseul burst into laughter, causing Yuma and me to turn to her.
"What's so funny?" I asked. Haseul responded between chuckles, "You really are Yuma’s son. She loves teriyaki chicken as well," teasing with a cheeky smile. I shrugged, and Haseul's smile softened into an unfamiliar emotion. I chuckle as we get the food to go before piling back in the car.
We arrived at the laboratory, and Yuma took me aside to her office. "You’re probably wondering why I brought you here, why I did all of this," she said with a crooked smile similar to mine.
"Well, I just wanted to meet you and talk to you," she explained.
"I carried you to pay for my doctorate in Kaiju studies. I read field books to you while you were in my tummy, watching marathons of Godzilla, and Gamera movies while I studied just to stay awake, and feel you kick. It made me reconsider numerous times if I should give you up, but I was in no space to take care of a child. So I buried my growing feelings and went to term, but recently I have been feeling this gnawing emptiness. Against my better judgment, I reached out to your parents to meet you. I just wanted to hold my baby boy one more time," she said, hugging me tightly.
"A baby boy who's not so baby anymore,"
Yuma said, and I chuckled at her observation. A feeling of safety washed over me, and tears poured from my eyes. Before any other words could be said, a voice interrupted us. A big, burly man entered the room and said, "Excuse me, Yuma, you are needed." My "mom" broke the hug and smiled at me.
As I waited in the office, the door opened, and Haseul popped in. "Oh, great, you're here. Can I get your help with something?" she asked with a mischievous smile. I hesitated but couldn't resist her, so I nodded.
"Good boy," she purred, and I felt a strange sensation as she kissed me. Haseul broke the kiss and smiled. "Good, now you're nice and dumb. I need your help looking over a few charts for me, and I need you not to overthink," she said with authority. My mind was left in a hazy fog as she led me into the room.
I put my headphones in as Haseul sat at her desk and asked me to go over and aggregate some data charts. She handed me a laptop and an Excel sheet, and I diligently compiled and aggregated the numbers she'd asked for, going above and beyond by conducting a qualitative analysis of Kaiju markings and identifying outliers and notable specimens. When my "mom" came to look for me, I'd finished a substantial amount of work.
"Oh, JJ, there you are," she said as she entered the office. I looked up and nodded. She walked over and examined what I was doing, furrowing her brows before turning to Haseul, who was deeply engrossed in her work. A smile crept onto my lips as I watched her. My mom noticed and smirked before addressing Haseul, "Um, excuse me, but I think my son has helped you do half your work."
Haseul looked up at my mom and quickly apologized, "Oh, Mrs. Yuma, I'm so sorry, but JJ has been so helpful."
"I can see that. His notes on your compilation have been extensive," my mom teased. Haseul turned red but quickly pressed on, "It's not just that; he has an almost ocean-deep knowledge of Kaiju."
I shrugged, "I just like them," I responded. Haseul smiled, and I felt that strange sensation again, but this time, it was more intense. My mom noticed and smirked as we headed back to her place. On the way back, she asked me a question I 100% expected.
"Do you like Haseul?" I nodded, and my mom smirked, "Be careful with her," was her only warning. Sadly (but not really), I didn't heed it.
Haseul’s claws (she's a Red Panda Kaijin) were comforting and sexy even before she wrapped them around my throat. She started small with pet names like my puppy or Handsome. Then came some light flirty glances and touches. That's what sealed the deal I was hers. Her little pup to mold and shape how she saw fit.
This all culminated in the day before I left. I helped her and my mom finish something and Haseul said, “Oh my little pup so dumb but eager to please,” my brain broke and I responded (thankfully my mom wasn't there to hear this)
“Oh please fuck me dumb. Mark me and claim me as yours Haseul,” Haseul smirked at me. Her eyes narrowed as her scent filled my nostrils leaving me lightheaded and aroused. She slipped over to me and sat on my lap. Her voice took on a Saccharine and lurid pitch as she spoke,
“Oh my needy pup, what makes you think you deserve my touch,” she coos and I moan which turns her smirk into a wicked smile. If it wasn't clear to her before it was now. I am her little pup. I'm only hers to play with and manipulate as she sees fit. One hand palms my hardening cock and the other wraps itself around my throat. She smiles maliciously as my breath hitches and her control over me becomes absolute. She extends her talons enough to draw blood but my horny head only draws a euphoric pleasure from the sensation.
“I could rip your throat out and you'd ask me if you were a good little pet?” she said which elicited another moan from me, “Oh dumb pup I'm going to have fun training you.” Haseul gloated, as she began to stroke my rod.
As she did she licked my blood off of her talons the lurid sight drove me to new heights. After she licked the blood off her talons she licked my neck where she pierced me. I felt the wounds begin to heal as she eyed me with a ravenous hunger before telling me, open your mouth for me pup, and stick your tongue out.” I follow her command and she sucks my tongue while it's out before inching closer until our lips touch and devours me in a kiss. I resign myself to being her prey, she smiles viciously and then abruptly stops. My body jolts at her with a drawl of touch.
“Later my puppy. I don't want you to make a mess,” Haseul replies. I groan and get up trying to relax and take my mind off of her touch
Before I could walk off Haseul said, “No stay!” I returned to her as she commanded. She smiles. “I trained you so well. What a good boy.” Haseul says with her most proud and soothing tone.
“Sit” Haseul commands and I do. She revels in her power over me. I'm just so happy to see her happy.
“So here is how it's going to go puppy. I am going to not touch you for the rest of the day but when we get off meet me at my apartment and we will finish what we started,” Haseul said seductively. I nod and she smiles. We get back to work and she says, “Good boy,”
After I finish my “work” my mom has to stay late and leaves in the care of Haseul. Before I leave my mom gives me a rather large sum of won and says “Treat Haseul well tonight.” I nod and we drive off. I ride with Haseul and ask
“You hungry,” Haseul nods and we decide to head to a nearby restaurant. It's a pizza joint. We get in and I sit with Haseul. I'm nervous as this is a very different level type of intimacy that we haven't shared before. I swallow my nerves and go for the safest compliment I could think of. “Your glasses are great really show off how your eyes are dazzling,” I say. Haseul beams with a shy smile. “Oh, so that's the way to turn the tables,” I tease. Haseul narrows her eyes.
“Careful pup. I can take you to heaven tonight or leave you in purgatory,” Haseul says bitingly. I smile
“What so funny?” Haseul asks accusingly.
“Haseul I'm not trying to do anything funny I just really like you and no it's not just because of all “claiming” you've done. You're witty, compassionate, and gorgeous. Plus you like all the dumb stuff I like. Why would I upset you,” I reply Haseul blushes intensely before our food arrives. We eat in relative silence but Haseul makes sure I'm full and hydrated. She reasons that she wants her puppy to be ready for his walk. We entered her apartment and she excused herself to her bedroom before calling for my help.
And now you're all caught up
“So my pretty Firebear, what would you like to do first,” I ask. Haseul smiles
“Ooh, I like that,” Haseul coos, and our lips meet.
We break out first kiss and she smiles before pouncing on me. She rips open my pants and shirt before saying, “Be a good little puppy, and let me ride you,”

Haseul takes me inside her and my mind goes blank. She’s so tight. I try to formulate words but she starts to grind her crotch against mine. She leans in closer and says, “Oh my little puppy isn't so little,” I moan at her expert control over my body. Her touch is delicate but powerful. I watch as she sets her hands down and uses me as a tool for her pleasure.
“How is it,” I ask eagerly to see if I can grant her higher satisfaction Haseul moans out
“Oh God Puppy you fill me up so well,” I smile seeing Haseul lose herself to the pleasure. Her folds are soft and giving but viciously tight causing the friction between us to become so intense that I can't help but moan out as my mind turns into further slurry.
Watching me devolve seems to excite Haseul more as she gets tighter.
“Is my needy little puppy gonna cum,” she asks I groan and she laughs, “Come on puppy. Use your words.”
Haggard, I rasped out (in English ), “fuck take me. claim me as yours!” Haseul smiled
“Oh I like it when you lose control and your native tongue comes out,” she coos. My cock swells within her as her pussy tightens around me.
“That's right my little dumb slut to be used and abused,” Haseul said before wrapping her hand around my throat my breathing hitched as the terror and pleasure mixed. I couldn't think straight and just fed into her degradation of me,
“Yes, I'm your slutty puppy. I'm only good for my cock which doesn’t deserve to cum,” I watch as Haseul's eyes widen at my words. she smiles,
"Yes You're my puppy who only cums when I want him to and you've been such a good puppy," she says moaning as I can feel her near her release. "Now Puppy cum with me," Haseul says while moaning. I groan as her words and her pussy push me to release. we cum together and Haseul Smiles.
"Good puppy," she coos, as we pass out

Following the death of Principal Weems, the rest of the semester was canceled and everyone went home. Students and parents crowded the hall with their suitcases, making it difficult to navigate. Lurch would be picking you and Wednesday up, but you needed to find your sister first.
Your shoulder was still tender from the arrow you took during the battle against Crackstone, but it was healing well. There will undoubtedly be a scar, but nothing too noticeable.
Your eyes searched for a pink blob, figuring Wednesday would be with Enid. Since the battle, the two have been attached to the hip.
During your search, your eyes fell on Xavier at the top of the stairs, leaning against the railing. He waved and you lifted your eyebrows. What could he want?
The heels of your shoes clicked as you walked up the stairs and made your way to Xavier. You and him had started on the wrong foot at your arrival at Nevermore, but you were good now.
A smile grew on his face when you appeared in his sightline, happy to see you were on your two feet and well. He tried to visit you at the infirmary, but you were already gone when he showed up.
''I heard you're a free man now,'' you said flatly.
Xavier nodded once. ''Yep. All charges dismissed.''
Although you weren't the one who wrongly framed him, you felt a little responsible for the time he spent behind bars. Wednesday needed to apologize for what she put him through. Those days and nights he spent in the small cell must've been long, sad and lonely — even for a solitaire like Xavier.
''I got you something. It's a thank you for taking that arrow for me. You didn't have to do that.'' He handed you a black box with a matching ribbon, trying to conceal how smitten he was for you. ''Welcome to the 21st century, Addams.''
You opened the top, impressed by the fancy wrapping, and revealed the small object inside the box: a brand new and shiny cell phone. Your eyes shifted to the gift giver.
''My number's in there already.''
''It's bold of you to assume I would need it.'' You closed the box. ''I hope you don't expect me to call you.''
Xavier shook his head. He would be waiting forever. ''No. Never. But I'd settle for a text, though.''
''Goodbye, Xavier.''
*
For the first weeks of being home, you ignored every one of his texts. You made it look like you didn't care, but deep down you were very happy to get a message from him. Thing kept telling you it was rude to not answer and that you should text him back, but Xavier knew to expect nothing from you. You doubted he was offended by your silence.
After a full month of silence, you started giving him short answers once in a while. He was surprised the first time you replied. He even sent you a shocked emoji of his face. But you had to tell him that the quote he was reciting was wrong.
And, you were starting to miss him. Just a little.
One late evening, you found yourself looking him up on social media. There were mostly artsy pictures of tubes of paint and dirty brushes, paintings, a garden you assumed to be in his backyard, and the most recent, a selfie of him and Ajax. According to the posting date, it had been taken a few days ago. You noticed Xavier's hair had gotten longer. He was now able to do a full ponytail without having shorter pieces falling out at the front.
He looked handsome.
*
Summer came, and so did Enid. After begging her parents to let her take a flight across the country to visit you and Wednesday — mostly Wednesday —, they finally agreed. Her mom said it was her reward for finally wolfing out, which sounded wrong to your ears.
Your parents were surprised when they saw her coming out of the Addams' black Cadillac, looking the exact opposite of their daughters, but they grew fond of her very quickly. After two days, she was already part of the family.
While Wednesday was slowly and secretly falling for the sweet werewolf who favored the color pink, you caught yourself developing feelings for Xavier. He had taught you how to make video calls and it was so much better than texting.
''What is this called again?'' you asked, seeing Xavier's face through the small screen.
''Facetime.''
''Oh. Yes.'' You always forgot the name. ''I like this.'' I like seeing you.
Xavier smiled, his dimples poking through his cheeks.
You began talking about the black dahlias you grew in your mother's greenhouse and although Xavier didn't know shit about plants and flowers, he listened to everything you had to say. He loved listening to your voice.
As summer went on, it was getting more and more difficult for him to hide his feelings. Even through a screen. He was falling hard for you. But you didn't like him that way and, although he deeply wished you would feel the same, he respected that. He liked you so much that he just wanted to be around you — or in your life —, including being okay with being placed in the friendzone, even if that was obviously the last place he wanted to be.
*
The leaves began changing colors and Lurch drove the Addams clan to the academy. A single black dahlia rested on your lap, which earned a confused look from your sister. If you wanted to bring flowers to your dorm, wouldn't it have been more practical to bring a pot?
You ignored her question and went back to looking out the window until the gates of Nevermore Academy came in sight. A strange feeling bubbled in your stomach and your mother didn't fail to notice the slight twitch of your lips.
After saying goodbye to your parents and Pugsley, Wednesday left to find Enid and your eyes searched the quad for Xavier. You spotted his best friend, and found the green eyed artist by his side.
A small smile curled on your lips, but you quickly composed yourself. To make up, you gave a death stare to the first year boy on your right. He quickly hung his head down. It wasn't nice, but you had a reputation to maintain.
Raising your eyes back to Xavier, you watched as he laughed at something Ajax must have said. It was nice to see him in person and not trapped in a tiny phone screen.
You smoothed your dress and went to him. ''Hi.''
Xavier's attention snapped the second you opened your mouth, a melody to his ears. ''Hi,'' he greeted back, trying to fight the smile on his face but failing.
Beside him, Ajax bit back a snicker, then excused himself.
''This is for you,'' you said, handing him the black dahlia you were holding. ''Grown in my personal greenhouse.''
A soft flush coloring his cheeks. Xavier acted standoffish with everyone, but you had him wrapped around your little finger.
A misogynist would be offended, saying men offer flowers to women. Not Xavier.
He accepted the single flower and twirled it between his fingers. ‘’It’s beautiful. Looks more a deep burgundy and a deep mahogany than black, though.’’
You scoffed lightly. ‘’Trying to impress me with your artist vocabulary?’’
‘’Is it working?’’
‘’No.’’
The corner of his mouth curled.
He would never admit it out loud, but Xavier loved when you’re mean to him. Your blunt honesty and one-liners that knocked people off their pedestals was part of your personality and he found it endearing.
Xavier's phone alarm went off and his smile fell. He fished the device out of his pocket, then read the reminder with a disappointed face. ‘’I gotta go. I have a video appointment with my therapist in ten minutes.’’
You didn't want him to leave, but you couldn't hold him back.
‘’Okay. I'll see you later.’’
‘’Do you...want to walk with me to the dormitory?’’ Xavier asked, holding his breath as he waited for your answer.
You gave him a single nod and headed toward the right aisle of the Academy.
As you were walking, Xavier’s arm could brush yours from time to time. Each time it did, you felt spiders in your stomach. You could smell his cologne too. A mix of pine and something else you couldn't decipher.
‘’After Dr. Kinbott's death and everything that followed, my father was quick to find me a new therapist. An expensive one that would fix all of his son’s crazies in the most secrecy.’’ Xavier scoffed, shaking his head at his father's terrible parenting. ’’She’s been helping me deal with the aftermath of my arrest and put order into my thoughts. I thought my life would go back to how it was before I got arrested, but it didn’t. Although I was proven innocent, some still believe I murdered those people.’’
‘’Tyler was the monster—’’ you quickly said.
‘’I know.’’ He dropped his head, his next words quieter. ‘’But I guess it’s easier to believe an outcast did it than the sheriff’s ‘normie’ son...’’
This made your heart ache for Xavier. He may be obstinate and irrational at times, but he would never murder somebody. Especially not Rowan, who he used to call his roommate and friend. They had a fallout a little before his death, but nothing that would have pushed Xavier to kill him.
If you heard anyone say something bad about him, they better run or they'll know what you're capable of. The Addams were known to be crazy, but you preferred to say wildly devoted to the ones you love — whether it be a friend, a family member or a lover. There's nothing you wouldn't do to defend or protect the ones you cared about.
You were snapped out of your thoughts when you reached the boys' dormitory.
That walk was over way too soon.
‘’Xavier?’’ He shifted his green eyes down at you, your height difference more apparent when you were standing close. ‘’Before we part, there's something I need to tell you.’’
He drew his eyebrows, a wash of concern over his face. ‘’I’m listening.’’
‘’This summer has been revealing for me. I found in you a friend I didn't know I needed. I've always been a lonely person and I'm comfortable that way, but it's nice to have a friend. But as the days and weeks went by, I found myself looking forward to your every text and call and sometimes, I never wanted them to end,’’ you admitted transparently. ‘’It took me a while to figure out why I was feeling that way and why I always had spiders in my stomach every time someone mentioned your name. Xavier, I…I think I want us to be more than friends. I don’t know if that’s how I’m supposed to say it, but—’’
Just like in those horrifying normies rom-coms, Xavier crashed his lips on yours, interrupting you with a kiss.
You took a few seconds to react, not expecting him to do this, but then responded to his kiss, standing on your tiptoes and curling a hand behind his neck to pull him closer. Xavier’s lips moved over yours with extreme softness, kissing you the way he always wanted to.
You pulled back for air, finding yourself smiling when seeing a smudge of your lipstick on his face. It wasn’t that noticeable, but you liked that it was there. ‘’I've never been in love before, so I cannot promise you I'll be a perfect lover—’’
Xavier shook his head. ‘’I don't care. Perfect is boring anyway.’’ He held back a grin, pressing his forehead against yours. ''I prefer spooky and kooky.''

The Brightest Star
Nanami Kento x Reader
(Song Inspiration: Konayuki by Remioromen)
“What did I do?” he asked you. “Was everything I do not enough?” You bit your lower lip. You held in your tears.
“Nothing,” you said as loud as you could. “You did everything. It’s me, Kento.” Nanami remained silent.
When you asked to talk to him, he hoped you would share your burden to him. He noticed you were distant the past couple weeks. But it never stopped you from telling him that you love him and check up on him. No. He did not expect a break up.
“I can’t stop you,” he said, tears welding in his eyes. He walked closer to you and cupped a side of your face. “I love you and I’ll let you go if you want to leave.” He watched your tears escape your eyes. He watched you nod.
When he touched your face, you wanted to take back everything you said. But what’s done is done. You nodded in response to what he said. It took a second, but you finally took a step back.
“Goodbye, Kento-kun.”
Nanami remembers that day fresh in his mind. His heart still broken since that day. It’s been three years. He’s finally finished University. And now, he’s helping his close friend, Shoko, to work at the hospital.
“Thanks Nanami. I’ll have Haibara pick me up,” Shoko said with a bright smile.
“Let me know if you need anything.”
Nanami watched her walk inside the building before driving off. It was just like everyday. He helps give Shoko a ride to work while her boyfriend picks her up from work. And eventually during the day, he would meet up with Geto and Gojo.
He glanced at the empty seat and caught sight of Shoko’s cell phone. Nanami sighed, immediately turning back to the hospital.
“Which floor is the oncology unit?” Nanami asked. “Dropping something off to Ieiri-san.”
“Fourth floor, unit C,” they answered. Nanami thanked the lady and turned around.
A familiar woman was walking towards his way. As she walked closer, his eyes widened as he realized it was your mother. The woman gave him a bright smile and immediately hugged him.
“Kento! Oh my goodness! It’s been a while! How are you?” she asked excitedly. “You’re so handsome!” Nanami blushed.
“I’ve been well,” he answered. For the seven years he has known you, he remembers your mother always working. It has always been the two of you. So seeing her was a surprise and also a worry. “Is everything okay? What brings you here?” Your mother gave him a sad smile.
“Y/N is finally going home today,” she answered. The sound of your name made his heart drop. Your mother noticed and she placed a hand on his arm. “Come outside with me, honey.” Nanami nodded, phone forgotten in his pocket.
The two of you walked around the courtyard. Few staff members were out, enjoying the morning air.
“Did she get hurt?” he asked softly.
“Didn’t she tell you about her leukemia three years ago?” His eyes widened. His body trembled and thoughts swirled. Your mother comforted him, softly apologizing. “I’m sorry, Kento. I thought she told you.” Nanami shook his head.
“No, she just broke up with me,” he said quietly. “And I just respected what she wanted.”
“I think you should see her,” she said. “I catch her look at old photos of you two. That’s only if you’re okay with it.” Nanami nodded. “Go ahead. I have to make phone calls.”
His heart was beating loudly, as if it was against his ears. He can feel his palms get sweaty. He was worried and scared. Scared for you to reject him. Scared that you would get mad at him.
“Oh, Nanami. What brings you here?” Shoko asked when he arrived on the unit. Nanami pulled her phone out of his pocket. “Oh wow. Thank you.” Nanami nodded. “What’s wrong?” Nanami was quiet as he turned to find your room number. He softly knocked on the door frame.
“Mom?” His heart stopped at the sound of your voice. You sounded as sweet as ever, a voice he could never get tired of hearing. Nanami slowly walked inside. And when he caught sight of you, tears immediately escaped his eyes.
When he entered the room, you quietly gasped. Your tears fell like his. Your heart stopped and you lost your voice.
“Sweetheart,” he finally said. He quickly went up to you and hugged you tightly. You let him. You missed the comfort of his arms. His rough hands being gentle to your body. You craved for him every single day.
“I-I’m sorry,” you said as you cried. “I’m so sorry. I’m sorry.” Nanami sat on the edge of the bed. You climbed on his lap, hugging him tightly for your dear life. He softly shushed you, letting you know that everything is okay.
“Stop being sorry,” he said softly. “It’s not your fault.”
“Why aren’t you mad? You should hate me.” His soft lips on your forehead surprised you. You looked up at him with tearful eyes and all he could do was smile softly as he wiped your tears away.
“Because I can never hate nor be mad at the woman I love,” he answered you. You buried your face in his chest as you let more tears out.
You stayed on his lap, his arms still wrapped around you. Neither of you wanted to move. Neither of you wanted to speak. The two of you soaked up each others’ presence.
A knock was heard and the two of you looked up to see Shoko. She smiled at you two fondly.
“Once everything is signed, you get to go home,” she announced. You smiled. You were tired of the hospital. “So, what’s the story? That’s your ex?” You nodded.
“My boyfriend since high school,” you added. “We’ve met in middle school.”
“We went to the same college,” Shoko said. “He’s best friends with my boyfriend.”
“Then, if he’s Kento-kun’s friend, you found a great man.”
“Your mom wants to apologized and said she had a business call again. However, she’s certain that Nanami will help you with everything.”
“I will,” Nanami said.
“I’ll come back when everything’s finalized.” Shoko left, leaving you two alone again. Nanami softly kissed your forehead again.
“The time I was distant, I went to a few physicians,” you said. “I didn’t want to believe it. It was terminal. And I didn’t want to be a burden to you. I would stay alone in my room, thinking. And I was selfish for never telling you.”
“You were,” he said. “It must’ve been so hard.” You nodded.
“I stopped my treatment, thinking I really was going to die. But somehow, I’m still here.”
“Let me be there for you,” he said. “Only if you allow it.”
“But what’s the point? I’m going to die. You’re better off moving on and finding someone else.”
“I would rather spend my time with you than anyone else. I would rather spend every waking moment with you, taking care of you, being there for you whenever you need me. If I didn’t move on then, how can I move on knowing you’re still here?”
“Kento-kun…”
“Sweetheart, it’s my turn to be selfish,” he said. “Let me selfishly be your burden. Because I would rather make more memories with the woman I love even if she’s sick.”
“I love you,” you said softly.
“I love you too, sweetheart. With all of my heart.”
A month passed. The two of you sat up on the roof of your house, staring at the stars. You sat in between his legs, resting your back on his chest while his arms were wrapped around you.
“Am I burden to you yet?” you asked. You can feel the vibrations of his chuckle.
“Never. Am I?” You couldn’t help but smile.
“Never.”
He let an arm go as he rummaged through his pocket. You looked up at him curiously. When he looked at you, he smiled.
“I love you,” he said.
“I love you, too,” you replied.
“I planned and planned this because I love you so much,” Nanami said. You were confused, giving him a puzzling look. He held your hand and as you looked down at your hand, you watched him slip a diamond ring. “Marry me, sweetheart. Let’s be happy with the time we have left together. I know how much you wanted to get married. And I can only envision my life with you. What do you say?”
“Kento-kun, this is beautiful,” you said as tears formed in your eyes. You turned around and faced him. You cupped his face and kissed him deeply. “Yes. Yes, I’ll marry you.”
He helped you through the window as you were getting tired. The two of you sat in the tub and he helped you bathe. You sighed in content as he scrubbed your back.
“I want a small wedding,” you said. “Better yet, we could just sign papers.”
“I want to see you in a wedding dress,” he said.
“Then you have to go dress shopping with me.”
“Whatever you want, my love. I will give you anything and everything you desire.” You turned around to face him.
“Then let’s get started,” you said. Nanami smiled and nodded. He passionately kissed you, bringing you on to his lap.
“We’ll buy a house,” he said as he kissed along your jawline. “We’ll have our two to three kids like we planned.”
“All girls because you’ll be the best girl dad.”
“One boy, so me and our son can protect our girls.” Tears rolled down your face. “We can have a couple of cats, we’ve been talking about that. And, of course, your mom will get lonely so she could live with us too. The kids would love to have grandma around.”
“And your parents will visit frequently.”
“And our friends.” You smiled widely.
It was the next day. Your energy level was high and you took this opportunity to go out. You put your face mask on, a long skirt and tank top, and a light cardigan to keep you warm. You feel like you could conquer the world and the best part is that your mother is coming back from her business trip.
“No fluffy dresses, Kento-kun,” you said. Nanami chuckled.
“I imagine the Princess look on you,” he said and continued to rummage through the racks. “Then we’ll get my suit?” You nodded.
“We’ll need witnesses.”
“If your mother doesn’t come home on time, we can have Shoko-chan and Haibara,” Nanami said.
“And then honeymoon?” you asked.
“Malaysia.”
Nanami held your hand tightly. You quickly grew tired after getting married. The moment you two signed the papers and walked outside, you were faint and dizzy. Nanami called your mother, telling him to bring you home and that she’ll arrive in twenty minutes.
You slowly opened your eyes. Nanami was holding your hand while your mother sat on the edge of your bed. You gave your mother a tired smile before looking up at Nanami.
“I’m sorry,” you said. “I ruined our happy moment.” Nanami shook his head.
“It’s still a happy moment,” he said. “My sweetheart is finally my wife.”
“Congratulations you two,” your mother said. “I’m sorry I couldn’t be there.”
“I’m sorry I was impatient,” you said.
“I want you to be happy,” she said. “And I’m so happy that you’re finally happy. Let me make some dinner. We’ll celebrate. Nanami, if your friends want, have them come.”
Two months of marriage. Everything between you two stayed the same. Nanami stayed with you 24/7, even with work. You would sit next to him in bed, watching him type reports on his laptop and listen to his phone calls. Nanami would wrap his arm around your shoulders, pull you close, and kiss the top of your head.
“Kento-kun, I’m so tired,” you said. You were changing. You were frail and skinnier. Your energy level is lower as you slept most of the day. It hit you like a brick since a week ago.
“Go to sleep, sweetheart,” Nanami said. “I’ll be right here.” Tears formed in your eyes, alarming the blonde male. “What’s wrong?”
“I’m scared,” you said. “I’m so scared to sleep because I might not wake up. I won’t get to be with you. We won’t have our house. We can’t travel. We can’t have kids. I’m so scared to leave you.” Nanami put his laptop on the night table and held you tightly.
“I’m scared too, sweetheart. I’m scared to death,” he said quietly. You cried in his chest. “Even though it hurts, I never regretted doing this with you. Because being with you is everything to me.”
“Kento-kun…!”
“I love you so much. Don’t stress about it too much okay? I promise that I’ll be okay. And when my time comes in the future, I’ll come find you.”
“You won’t have to. I’ll be there waiting already,” you said with a smile. “Live your life happily. Do it for me but mostly for yourself.”
“I’m going to do it for you. You’ll watch me happily.” You couldn’t help but smile and kiss him softly on the lips.
“Can we go up the rooftop? It’s clear outside.”
“Dress warmly.” You nodded.
He made sure you were covered from head to toe. He helped you climb out the window to the rooftop. Nanami held you tightly as you two sat down.
“I’ll be the brightest star for you,” you said. “Even through the clouds and through the rain.” Nanami silently cried. “You’re going to do great things and I’m going to be so proud of you.”
“I’ll name that star after you,” he said. You lightly chuckled before you yawned. “Want to go back inside?” You shook your head.
“Just a bit longer,” you whispered and closed your eyes. “I love you, Kento-kun. Thank you for loving me.” Nanami swallowed the large lump in his throat. He kissed the top of your head.
“I’ll always love you,” he said softly.
Nanami paid for the dinner he had with his friends. They knew it was the first year anniversary of his marriage. And they dragged him out to eat. Nanami was quieter but he admitted that their company was nice.
“You sure you don’t want to go out to drink?” Haibara asked. Nanami gave him a small smile. “It could be a celebration for your promotion and foundation!”
“Another day,” he said. Haibara nodded and placed a hand on his shoulder.
“You’ll be alright?” he asked worriedly. Nanami frowned. “She’ll want you to be okay. I bet she does. I may not know her well but she definitely isn’t a selfish person.” Nanami looked down at his wedding ring and nodded.
“This weekend we’ll celebrate then,” he said. “I want to spend the rest of my night with my wife.” Haibara chuckled.
“Alright,” he said. “We’ll talk about it and call you.”
“Sounds good.”
Nanami walked silently to the cemetery. He held a bouquet of your favorite flowers and bought a new book to read. At least once a week he would visit your grave. He’ll bring in fresh flowers and read you a book of his liking. He’ll tell you about his week before reading a few chapters. He’ll sit there quietly afterwards before he left.
It was nighttime. The sky was bright with the full moon. He read you about three chapters on a romantic book that he remembers you had on your to-be-read list.
“I know it starts off slow, but it seems promising,” he said after reading the chapters. “This better not be another smut book. Last time, there was a woman and her kid walking by.” It was silent, but he could imagine you laughing out loud with tears in your eyes. “I’m slowly doing better. My cancer foundation is a success and I got a promotion at my job. So I’ll be going to the bar and drink with everyone.”
Nanami looked up at the sky. He could see one bright star by the moon, shining brightly. Nanami smiled.
“I see you watching, sweetheart,” he said. “I’ll be honest, I don’t think I want to find someone else. I might say that now though. But there will be no one else like you for me.” The star remained bright. He loves watching that star.
“I won’t count down the days where I can see you again. But I can’t wait to see you again. You won’t be mad if I decide to move away, right? I’m thinking Malaysia and live by the beach. It sounds like a great life. I’ll read more books, both yours and my books.” Nanami chuckled to himself. “I’ll head to bed now. I love you sweetheart. Keep shining bright in the sky for me. I’ll see you soon.”

“It’s only a couple of days, Babydoll. I promise I will be back before you know it.” I fold a polo and put it in my suitcase on the bed next to a grumpy Babydoll.
“You’re gonna leave me here with Mom? I might as well be alone.” That little pout on her face gets me every time. And she’s not wrong. Her mother will ignore her at best, and at worse she will try and connect with her.
Too little, too late.
“You want to come with Daddy on his trip, don’t you?” I start thinking about what things we could get up to in my safe house.
And it could make it easier to do that...other thing I had planned.
“Please, Daddy?! I promise I won’t take up a whole lotta space and I’ll do whatever you say, I promise!! Please, can I go?” She clasps her hands under her chin and pokes out her bottom lip and I am a goner.
“Whatever I say, huh?” A couple of things come to mind at that moment and I file them away for later usage.
She bites her lip to hide a smile, nodding furiously.
I wink at her, leaning down and claiming her lips. Pulling away and smiling at her, I say, “Go and pack for a three-day trip,” I bring a hand down to cup her pussy, moving her panties to the side and dipping a finger in to feel that she was a soaked mess, “You are going to do everything I say, Babydoll. And you will respond with ‘Yes, Daddy’. Am I understood?”
“Yes, Daddy.” She wiggles her hips to try and ride my finger, but I pull it away and lick it clean as she watches.
“Don’t make me have to ask you to go pack, Babydoll.” I give her a stern look and she scurries away.
Soon, our suitcases are in my Escalade and we are off on our small road trip.
Tumblr media
You wake up slightly as Daddy is carrying you into a cabin under the light of the moon. You keep your eyes closed as you are put into bed and your shoes and jacket are removed. You peek an eye open as you lift a hand to grab Daddy’s arm as he starts to leave.
A warm hand touches yours, “Daddy just has to make a quick phone call. I’ll be right back, Babydoll.”
You nod and close your eyes, melting into the plush comforter surrounding you. The creak of the wooden bedroom door shutting is all you hear before sleep claims you yet again.
Tumblr media
I shut the bedroom door and immediately pull out my cell phone. Dialing a number I’ve memorized, I wait until the line is picked up.
“Timeline’s moved up. Do it now.” Hanging up after hearing confirmation, I make my way over to the small bar in the living room.
I pour two fingers of Black Label neat and swirl it around, taking a sip. The smoky vanilla liquid coats my tongue as I savor it and then swallow. Whether it’s the placebo effect or not, I instantly feel calm.
Sitting on one end of the couch, I throw my feet up on the coffee table. Holding my drink in my lap and leaning my head back against the backrest of the couch, I close my eyes and just rest.
It’s so rare that I can just sit in silence anymore. I didn’t ask to be a father...figure. Not that I’m upset about Babydoll being in my life, far from it. She's perfect for me.
I’m terrible for her. But she has no clue about that. And I'd like to keep it that way.
My sweet little empty-headed Babydoll is ready to do anything and everything I ask her to. If pleasing me makes her happy, who am I to stop her?
I take a sip of my drink and hear the slow creak of the floorboards in the bedroom. I throw my arm over the back of the couch as the bedroom door opens and Babydoll’s head pokes out.
“Daddy?” Oh, how I love to hear that out of her mouth.
“Come here, Babydoll,” I hold an arm out as she shuffles across the hardwood in her thigh-high socks and makes her way over to the couch to sit sideways in my lap, “I thought you were sleeping, babygirl.”
Laying her head on my chest and wrapping her arms around me, she settles in against my warmth. “I reached over for you and you weren’t there and I got scared.” How is she this fucking adorable?
“Oh, my sweet girl. I was right here the whole time. I promise you are always safe with me,” Safe was kind of subjective, but I went with it, “I’ve got an idea to get you back to sleep, it’ll make you nice and tired.”
She starts to squirm in my lap and I put my hand on one of her thighs, hooking my fingers in her thigh-high sock and pulling it down her leg. I do the same with the other before I reach over her to put my drink on the table.
Moving her to the couch, I kneel between her legs on the floor and get my hands under her skirt to pull her panties down. The thought crosses my mind how I went through her suitcase and pulled out all the panties she packed. I want easy access to this pussy while we’re away.
She snaps me out of my reverie with, “Daddy?”
“What’s wrong, Babydoll?”
She leans up and runs her hand over the front of my slacks and grabs my dick. “I wanna learn to give Daddy special kisses too.” Did she know what she was doing to me?
Fuck.
I bite my bottom lip and sit back on my heels for a second, looking into her pleading eyes. Standing back up, I open my zipper and pull out my already half-hard dick right in front of those pretty plump lips. “You want this in your mouth, Babydoll?”
“Yes, Daddy. Please teach me how you like it?” Her eyes go wide when my dick twitches at her words, so she decides to go a bit further. “Wanna taste Daddy.” She’s rewarded with another twitch.
“Why don’t you grab Daddy’s dick and stroke it first, Babydoll?” The moment she has a hand around me, she licks her lips and it threw me for a loop. Up until this point, she has been my sweet virginal Princess, now she wants to suck me off and it turns me on beyond belief. She reverts to using both hands and that little tongue snakes out again in her concentration. I take my dick out of her hands and grab her chin, “Stick your tongue out for Daddy and keep that mouth open.”
I hold the head of my dick and spread my precum all over her tongue, pushing just the head inside her mouth. “Now, close your mouth around Daddy’s dick with just your lips. No teeth, Babydoll. I’m gonna fuck your little mouth and then you’re gonna see how far you can go. If you have to stop to breathe, just open your mouth, ok?”
She hums her understanding around my cock and I twitch in her mouth again. I grab the back of her head and move my hips to shallowly fuck her hot wet mouth. She’s doing so good just letting me use her, and I want to fucking cum down her throat any second but I bide my time and just thrust into her nice and slowly. I stop and pull out, a string of her spit still connecting us.
She gulps in some air and wipes her mouth with the back of her hand, looking back up into my eyes. “Can I try to see how far I can go now, Daddy?” It’s like I created the perfect little cockslut.
“Yes, Babydoll, I want you to show me how deep you can take me. Now, be a good girl and suck Daddy’s dick.”
“Yes, Daddy.” She takes me in both hands, licking the underside of my dick then taking me in her mouth. I groan in the back of my throat. She gets about halfway and then begins a slow rhythm of stroking and sucking.
Not the best blowjob, but for a beginner? Damn fine first try. She takes direction well, she’s eager, and she looks so fucking cute while sucking a dick.
I feel the coil in my stomach tightening. I was so ready to cum down her throat, but her fucking face was so pretty I wanted to mark it as mine. I run a hand through the sweat-slick hair on my forehead before throwing my head back and grunting.
“Fuck, Babydoll. Daddy’s gonna cum all over that sweet little face...ugh, fuck, close your eyes!” I pull out and shoot rope after rope of thick milky cum over her beautiful perfect face. When her tongue slips out to taste what landed on her lips, I thought I would never stop cumming.
Slowing my stroke, I squeeze from the base to the tip of my dick, I wipe the last of my cum on her chin. Luckily, none of my cum hit her lashes or eyelids. When she opens her eyes, I smiled at her. I use my thumb to move a bit of my cum between her open lips and she sucks my thumb so sweetly.
I take back my thumb and place my hand on my chest to steady my breathing.
“Daddy, I’m tired now. Can we go to bed?” She yawns lazily and the glob of cum hanging from her chin dances.
I hold in my laughter and suggest, “Wash your face first, Babydoll. Then bedtime.” I take her hand and lead her into the bathroom so she can wash her face and I can use the can. She doesn’t seem to mind me taking a piss, but she isn't covert as she glances sidelong at my dick. I flush, wash my hands after she’s done and we enter the bedroom together.
I take off the majority of my clothes, then I decide I don’t need to wear anything. We’re out here free from prying eyes, might as well sleep comfortably. And if that makes it even easier access to that pussy, why not? Removing my boxer briefs, I turn to where Babydoll is going over to her suitcase, no doubt to look for pajamas.
“Babydoll, I want you to sleep naked tonight." I settle under the covers and make myself comfortable.
“Yes, Daddy.”
I watch as she pulls down her skirt and pulls off her sweater and undershirt. That tight little body bounced slightly as she made her way over to the bed. Climbing in, she pecks me on the lips and settles down on her side with her leg pulled up.
I turn to face her and wrap an arm around her waist, pushing her leg up a bit further with my own so I can slide the head of my dick into her tight wet heat. I groan lowly as she moans from the sudden intrusion.
“We’re gonna sleep with it inside tonight. I want you to just sleep and warm my cock at the same time.” I could feel her heartbeat racing and her breath quickening as he tries to keep herself calm.
“Yes, Daddy,” She wiggles her hips in the slightest, getting used to the fullness.
“Stay still, Babydoll. Daddy’ll fuck you in the morning, ok? For now, just rest, babygirl.” I angle my hips and aim for her g-spot and she’s putty in my hands.
“Daddy, just right there, please? Please please, I won’t ask for anything else. I promise!” I can’t see her face but I can hear how easily she could cry from the tension.
“Fine, fine. But I’m fucking you to sleep, Babydoll. You better cum for me when I tell you to.” I stay inside her while moving to kneel behind her, fucking into her into the mattress.
I lean over her, my hands holding her hips as I continuously kiss her cervix with the tip of my dick. Her moans are music to my ears, along with the slapping sounds of flesh that fill the dimly lit room. I can feel her walls start to tighten around me and reach under her leg for her clit.
“Cum for me, Babydoll. Cum all over Daddy’s dick, babygirl.” I pinch her little clit between my fingers and the dam breaks.
“Yes, Daddy!” Her toes curl and her core quivers around me. Her warm wetness coats my length and it’s even easier to fuck into her now. Once I hear the squelching sound of her wet pussy, I can’t help but chase my release.
“That’s my good girl. Just like that...Daddy’s gonna fuck this tight little princess hole til you can't take it anymore. You’re doing so good taking my cock, babygirl. Fuck...fuuuuuuck. Such a perfect little pussy for me to fuck. Shit! Oh, fuck, I’m gonna cum. Ugh, fuck!” I pull out and cum all over her ass and back in heavy white stripes.
I get up to grab a wet washcloth to wipe away the evidence of my orgasm. Coming back, I realize she is down for the count. Wiping her down, she hums but soft snores are soon to follow.
Well, I meant what I said when I wanted to fuck her to sleep.
Tumblr media
The next two days are a blur of time with Daddy. The only time he has to go do something alone is the day you left. You wake up and find a note saying that he had to run out. When he comes back, he is in a bad mood and takes it out on your pussy.
You both load your bags into the Escalade and start your trip home. You sleep most of the trip home, tired from your guts being rearranged. Instead of carrying you in the house, you get a soft nudge to wake up when you are back home.
"Take your suitcase in, Babydoll. I’ll be right behind you.” He pops the trunk and meets you at the back of the SUV. You pick up your bag and head inside, going straight to your room to drop your luggage.
It’s very quiet in the house and you wonder where your Mom could be. You check the Master bedroom and the bed is made but she’s not there. The kitchen is empty, and both bathrooms are as well. It wasn’t until something catches your eye in the backyard.
Something is floating in the pool. Not something. It is someone.
You go out to the patio, looking into the water you spot your Mother’s lifeless body in the water.
Before you know it, a blood-curdling scream is escaping you and the world turns black as you’re caught by two strong arms.

Chris’s POV
I swear I was going to lose my fucking my mind in this tiny concrete room. I hadn’t even been in here for two hours and the anxiety was taking over. The cop sat at his desk, sipping his coffee loudly while watching a football game on a small tv that faced away from me. I was going to have to sit here until Monday morning and all I had to do was think.
A million thoughts ran through my head. I’m sure Matt and Nick already called our parents and they were going to be pissed beyond belief. Luckily our podcast was pre-recorded but if I’m not out soon news is going to get around that I’m in here. But most of all, I thought about Y/n. She seemed so upset. I knew she was blaming herself for this and I prayed she wouldn’t do anything stupid. I know how vulnerable she can get when she’s down. But I know Matt and Nick will look out for her.
“Yo, don’t I get a phone call or something?” I asked the cop.
He responded with a long sigh, as if my question was making his entire job more difficult. I furrowed my brows at him, awaiting his response. “Fine.” He finally said. He got up and unlocked the cell door before leading me over to the phone. “You got two minutes, kid.”
I nodded and picked up the phone. I dialed Nick’s number, knowing he was most likely to answer.
“Hello?”
“Nick? Hey! It’s Chris!”
“Chris! Are you okay?!”
“Yeah, yeah. I’m fine.” I responded. I could hear Matt in the background and Nick switched his phone to speaker.
“Chris, we'll bond you out first thing after your hearing on Monday! Mom and dad already hired a lawyer.” Matt said.
I sighed, knowing how disappointed they were going to be. “Cool. Cool. Uhhh can I talk to Y/n?”
Matt and Nick were both silent for a few moments. “Uhm…she’s not here…”
“Well where is she?”
“I’m not sure…”
I could hear the change in Nicks voice. Something was wrong. “What’s going on? Why are you talking like that?”
“Well…She uhm…Her and Matt kind of-”
“I kicked her out!”
“You did what?!”
“She’s always gotten you into trouble, Chris. I’m sick of it. I don’t want to see you ruin your life over her. I know you’re like in love with her or whatever but-”
“Go find her. Now!” I spat. “You don’t fucking understand, Matt. You don’t fucking understand what you did! Go find her and make sure she is fucking safe!”
“Chris, what do you mean?”
“Now!” I slammed the phone down on the receiver.
“Watch it!” The cop said. I bit my tongue and followed him back to my cell.
I sat in the corner of the tiny bed and buried my head in my knees, trying to fight the tears threatening to spill from my eyes. I loved Y/n more than anything in the entire world and I knew her better than anyone. I was the only one who knew she experimented with opioids. I tried them with her but I noticed how she started using them to numb her pain and I quit. After having to Narcan her TWICE I made her promise to never touch them again. I threatened to tell her parents. I told her I would take her to rehab. She begged me not to. I know I should have but she swore to me she wouldn’t touch them again. I helped her through her withdrawals and over the last two years she’d been true to her word as far as I knew. I mean I was with her most of the time and never saw her use or act shady. But now I wasn’t there when she needed me and who knows what Matt said to her.
Fuck, fuck, fuck, FUCK! I couldn’t stop the tears from falling now. My whole body was shaking with anxiety.
Y/n’s POV
“Y/n! Y/N!” Danny yelled, kicking my foot. I jolted awake and struggled to see through blurred vision. I rubbed my eyes and slowly took in my surroundings as an overwhelming wave of nausea took over my body.
“Ugh, what?”
“Your phone’s been ringing non stop! Fucking answer it or turn it off. It’s annoying.”
I felt for my phone as previous events returned to my memory. Chris was arrested. I got in a fight with Matt. One thing led to the next and I somehow ended up at Danny’s house smacked out of my mind. I wasn’t proud of this. But remembering what Matt said to me, I felt like I was exactly where I needed to be.
My phone started ringing again and I was able to find it between the cushions of Danny’s old, cigarette stained couch. The screen lit up with Matt’s name and I could feel the bile rising in my stomach. I ran to the bathroom and shut the door quickly behind me. I sat on the floor, heaving over the toilet, but not much came out. I can’t remember the last time I ate. I didn’t even know what day it was. I sat back and pulled out my phone. 13 missed calls from Matt and Nick combined. 5 from my mother along with three texts asking where I was. A missed call from an unknown number. To top it all off, it was 6:23 pm on Sunday. What the hell had happened in the last day and a half?
I stood up and looked at myself in the mirror. My hair was a tangled mess, a stained crop top clung to my malnourished frame and a pair of baggy sweatpants (that didn’t belong to me) were tied tightly to my waist. I looked at the fresh track marks on my arm, a trail of dried blood leading halfway down my forearm. I was disappointed in myself. I promised Chris I would never go back to this. But it was too late now. I pulled my phone back out, ignoring all the messages from Matt and Nick and opening the text thread with my mom. I typed out a quick message.
Hey mom, I’m fine. Haven’t been feeling great this weekend so I’ve been sleeping. Didn’t mean to worry you.
Not three seconds after I sent it, she was calling me. I sighed, really not in any head space to talk to her but I knew I was already on her last nerve so I took a deep breath and answered.
“Hello?” I definitely sounded sick.
“Y/n! Honey! Where are you?! Are you okay?!”
“I-I’m fine, mom. I’m at home. I’m just a little sick.”
“Nick and Matt said you weren’t at your house! They were just there!”
Fuck. Why the fuck had they come by?
“I just stepped out to get some medicine. I just got back.” I lied.
The lie seemed to calm her down a bit. “MaryLou told us what happened to Chris. We just wanted to make sure you were doing okay.”
“Yeah, mom. I’m fine. Matt and Nick are going to bail him out tomorrow.” I felt nauseous again thinking about it. I didn’t know what to expect when Chris got out. I wasn’t great with confrontation and after the situation with Matt and relapsing with Danny, I didn’t really want to face Chris. “Uhm, mom, some friends asked me to go camping for a few days. So my service might be spotty.”
“I thought you were sick?”
“Yeah, I think it’s just like food poisoning or something. I should be better by tomorrow. But I’ll call you when I can, okay?”
“Y/n, are you sure you’re okay? If something is wrong you can tell us, we can come out there…”
“No, I’m fine mom. I promise. I’ll talk to you soon, okay? I love you!”
With that, I hung up on her and quickly exited the bathroom. “Danny, let’s go.”
“Go where?” He asked.
“I-I don’t know. San Diego or something? I just need to get out of here before Chris gets out tomorrow?”
“Why? I thought you looooved him.” Danny mocked. “You’ve been mumbling about him non stop.” He sighed and sat back.
Danny liked you. That wasn’t a secret. He wasn’t bad looking. But he was a “bad boy”. His main job was drug dealing. He hung around with shady people, did shady shit, and hated on people like the Sturniolo’s for being in the public eye. Even though you were getting into your modeling career, Danny didn’t seem to care. You didn’t believe Danny’s feelings were deep. You didn’t believe Danny was capable of deep feelings or love. But you were hot and you had him wrapped around your finger.
“I-I can’t face Chris like this. I just want to get away from here. Please?”
“My cousin has a condo down in Chula Vista. It’s right by the beach. I could call him.”
“Okay. I’m gonna run to my apartment and grab some things.”
I left Danny’s apartment, and ran up to mine. I grabbed a duffle bag from my closet and grabbed some clothes, a toothbrush, and some deodorant. The basic necessities. I was almost done packing when I heard a knock on my door.
“Coming!” I said, assuming it was Danny. I threw my bag over my shoulder and made my way to the door. I swung it open, ready to go but stopped in my tracks when I saw Matt standing in front of me.
“Going somewhere?” He asked.
It was hard to find my voice. My mind was a mess and my body was hurting. I needed a fix. “Uhm- Camping. With some friends.”
“Camping with friends. What friends?” Matt asked, stepping into my apartment now.
“Just some friends. You don’t know them.” It was somewhat true. Nick and Matt didn’t know Danny. Hence why they couldn’t find me earlier. But lying to my mom about camping with friends was one thing. She didn’t know my social circle out here. Chris, Nick, and Matt on the other hand, pretty much were my social circle. We shared the same friends. If I really was to go camping with friends, chances are they’d be coming too.
“Look, Y/n. I’m sorry for what I said yesterday…I was just upset and it was wrong of me to blame it on you.” I didn’t know how to respond so I just looked to the floor. “Chris is really going to want to see you tomorrow and-” He stopped, noticing my arms. He grabbed my wrist and yanked my arm into view. “Y/n, what the fuck happened to your arms?! Have you been shooting up?!”
“Ready to go, Princess? My cousin said-” Danny appeared in my doorway. “Well look what the cat dragged in.” Danny said with his skeezy smile.
Matt looked him up and down before looking back at me. Danny had on tight jeans with chains and a sleeveless band shirt. He reeked of cigarette smoke and I knew Matt was judging me.
“This is who you’re going camping with?” Matt asked.
“Look, I gotta go…” I said pushing past Matt and locking my door.
“So you’re just going to dip out on Chris?” Matt asks. “Come on Y/n. You’re better than this guy!”
“Excuse me?” Danny asks, turning to face Matt. I step in front of Danny, putting my hand on his chest.
“Matt. You said it yourself. I’m no good for Chris…”
“Y/n, I didn’t mean-”
“It’s fine. I gotta go. Take care of him, okay?”
With that, I grabbed Danny’s hand and pulled him along with me down to his car to avoid any further conversation with Matt. I noticed his van with Nick inside sitting in the parking lot. He looked confused. I looked away and climbed into Danny’s car, urging him to drive away.
Danny offered me a cigarette and I took it. Remaining quiet as I sparked it. He didn’t ask questions. But he did place his hand on my knee as he drove. “You don’t need them, Princess. I’ll take care of you.”
The words made my stomach twist into a knot. I wanted Chris. But Matt was right. I didn’t deserve him. I was exactly where I deserved to be. “You got any more dope?”
“Gonna pick some up on our way, don’t worry.” He smiled at me. I attempted a half ass smile as I bit back the urge to cry. I looked down at my phone, studying the photo of me and Chris I had set as my wallpaper. It was a silly photo of us in highschool. We were both laughing, I was on Chris’s back as he ran down the hall with me. It was a time in my life I was truly happy.
I shut my phone off and threw it in my bag, focusing on the world passing by through the window of Danny’s old BMW. I knew this wasn’t the right move but I was never good at confronting my problems and the promise of an escape and drugs was enough to leave LA and Chris behind me.
Chris’s POV
I sat silently while the judge went over my charges. Cameron Jacobs and his family sat and watched with smug looks on their faces. Matt and Nick sat on the opposite side of the courtroom, ready to bail me out. I was disappointed when they showed up without Y/n.
The judge set my bond to $5,000 and gave me another court date. By noon, I was gathering my things and climbing into the van. Nick was hounding me with questions while Matt remained relatively quiet.
“So where’s Y/n?” I asked, no longer wanting to think about the trouble I was in or the fact that I would have to call my parents when I got home and get my ass chewed out, or the fact that we were out five grand. “Why didn’t she come?” My voice cracked.
Nick looked at Matt, seeing if he would admit what happened. Matt remained silent. “Matt…”
“Where is she, Matt?” I asked.
“Look Chris-”
“No tell me the fucking truth! It’s your fault she fucking left in the first place. Where is she?!”
Matt sighed. “I went to her place last night. She left with some sleaze bag. Said she was going camping…”
“Dude with combat boots, covered in shitty tattoos, smelled like cigarettes?” I asked.
“Yeah.”
“Danny.” I hissed. He was such a piece of shit. Always trying to get in Y/n’s pants. He was a slimy drug dealer and now she was God knows where with him.
“She had, uhm…she had track marks on her arms…” Matt said.
I tried to take a deep breath but I was beyond livid. “Pull over.” I said as calmly as I could.
“What? Why?” Nick asked.
“Pull the fucking car over!”
Matt did as I asked and I climbed out, slamming the door behind me before walking off down the street.
“Chris! Where are you going?!” Matt asked as him and Nick chased after me. I really didn’t want to be near him right now.
“Fuck off, Matt!”
“You have to fucking talk to me, man!” He said, grabbing my shoulder and forcing me to look at him. I pushed him off of me and Nick was quick to catch him before he fell.
“This is your fucking fault!” I yelled. “Why the fuck would you say those things to her, Matt? She’s been our best friend our whole lives! This is your fucking fault!”
“I was just looking out for you! It’s not my fault she’s a drug addict, man!”
I threw myself at Matt, punching him in the eye. He fought back but it didn’t last long before Nick was separating us.
“Stop it! What the hell is the matter with you guys?!” Nick yelled. “Chris, you just got out of jail for fucking assault. Beating up your own brother isn’t going to get you anywhere! And Matt, you were wrong for what you said to Y/n. But we aren’t going to find her if you end up back in jail and don’t work together. So both of you get in the fucking car and let’s go home and figure something out.”
As much as I hated Matt right now, Nick was right. All I really cared about was finding Y/n and I was going to need help doing that. I climbed back into the car silently and endured the ride home. I had tried texting and calling Y/n earlier but it went straight to voicemail. I typed out one more text.
Y/n, please be okay. I’m so worried about you. Fuck whatever Matt said. You mean everything to me. Please just text me back when you get this so I know you’re okay. I love you…

Funny batfam gen (non-romantic) recs
last rec list was not exactly happy fics, so to offset it, have funny ones:
Gen fic recs for @genuaryficrecs! Fandom: DC, batfam. Focus: Humour (most some also tear your heart out or engage in subtle character building, but you'll laugh while you cry) Humour is very widespread in fic (…in some fandoms at least), ranging from humour woven in the writing style itself, to situational absurd (crack), to making the reader laugh about absolutely horrifying shit (while still acknowledging how awful it is; which is something I feel I've only ever read in fic), to absolutely unhinged character reactions (to more I don't have in mind right now), so here, a small homage to that.
The Lone Ranger Never Had to Deal with Bruce Wayne, by @theskeptileptic (https://archiveofourown.org/works/51476074) Chapters 6/6, 25.522 words G, No Archive Warnings Apply
Main Characters: Tim Drake, Bruce Wayne
Type of gen relationship: uh. Concerned Adult to Kid? Parental-ish? Or just neighbours, depending on who you ask.
Official summary: Tim is an independent, clever, and super mature eleven-year-old. Unfortunately, his dopey neighbor, Bruce, can’t seem to understand that. When he decides to disappear on a “solo camping trip” and run away to Canada, he figures it’s the perfect plan that will make everybody happy. He didn’t expect the Waynes would tag along with him and ruin everything. A six-chaptered tale filled with identity shenanigans, s’mores, soon-to-be-brothers, and a kid who is in desperate need of a new family.
Why I love it: This is. Hilarious. The perfect mix of very competent Tim and him still very much being an 11-years-old. Himbo Bruce Wayne who just so happens to totally accidentally run into Tim several times to innocently inquire about his parents' whereabouts. The horrifying fact of what Tim is actually doing and how he thinks, in his very logical way (and the horrifying fact that his parents agree with him).
Excerpts: from: [email protected] to: [email protected] Mr. Wayne, Timothy told me you stopped by earlier today. I am sorry I didn’t get to talk with you. My thyroid was acting up and I was sleeping. Timothy is a good kid. I can make sure he’s safe skateboarding so there is no need to worry. Have a good day! Sincerely, The Nanny
from: [email protected] to: [email protected] The Nanny, Thank you for your email last week. Timothy is most definitely a good kid. One of the best. I saw him at the Army Supply Store this afternoon and he mentioned you would be taking him to Cheesequake State Park to meet a friend this weekend? My boys and I are heading that way, so why don’t we save you a trip. We’ll make sure Timothy is taken care of. If you need anything at all, for any reason, please call me at this number: 9088780078. This is my cell phone and I answer it at all hours, no matter what. Nothing is too small or too much of a bother to pick up for. Anything that you need, Timothy’s Nanny, please call. Sincerely, Bruce Wayne - “Anyway, I was on my way to the course, and I realized your father and I haven’t gotten a chance to really ‘hang’, as you kids say, and I had a late tee time, so I thought I’d invite him along.” Mr. Wayne’s teeth were bright and Tim wondered if he used some sort of diamond paste on them. He looked around Tim’s shoulder, as if he wanted to see inside the mansion better. Tim hadn’t turned on any of the lights on account of his shitty night, so the early fall haze that Bristol was so well known for didn’t do much for his visibility. “I’m sorry, sir, you just missed him.” A pause. “Well, that’s ok, son. Why don’t you get your mom and I’ll give her a message? I’m sure you’ve got things to do.” He looked at Tim vapidly, smile still firmly in place. “I’m afraid she’s not here right now either. Shopping.” Tim gritted his teeth and went to close the door. Mr. Wayne’s huge ham hands (why were they so large?) stopped it before it slammed. He chuckled and Tim winced. “Your nanny, then.” Tim wasn’t sure, but thought the question sounded more strained than Mr. Wayne’s usual flavor of airheadedness. “She’s sleeping.” “At eleven in the morning?” “She has a thyroid problem. I’ll let them all know you stopped by.” Tim pushed the door closed but Mr. Wayne had somehow entered his foyer while he was speaking. “I’ll write them a note. They can call me when they get back.” He inched closer towards Tim, who sidestepped him before he could ruffle his hair.

Ain't No Compass, Ain't No Map, by @ebjameston (https://archiveofourown.org/works/38048365) Chapters: 9/9, 51.863 words T, No Archive Warnings Apply
Main Characters: Jason Todd, Dick Grayson, Tim Drake
Type of gen relationship: siblings and friends
Official summary: CPS Agent, pointing at Tim Drake: We need to take him with us Red Hood: He's fine where he is CPS: He's a minor Hood: Timbo, you a minor? Tim: Can't prove it CPS: I mean, I can. There are records – Tim, who has just finishing hacking CPS to remove his own file: Oh really, tell me more about these records +++ A CPS agent gets sent to investigate a tip that Tim Drake has been abandoned by his parents and is living with the Red Hood. The CPS agent leaves with no Tim Drake, a date with Red Hood's lieutenant, and an intern who's promising to fix the IT systems at his office. It's a weird day for Theo.
Why I love it: This is probably the first (non-crossover) DC fic I read, and to date still one of my favorites. It's. Listen. It's from the point of view of a Child Protective Services agent. Who, given his whole deal is to Protect Children, has Opinions about the Robins. And interacts - unknowingly - with them when they're grown (identity porn! Banter!). And he likes them! And they like him! But they have… differing opinions. And I absolutely love it. So. Many. Feels. And humour. It's 80% jokes and 70% feels and 50% social commentary about the canon and 20% plot and 40% fluff and 30% angst and some parts are all of that at once.
Excerpt: “Nightwing, wait, serious question,” Theo says. “About when you were baby Robin.” Max’s fingers tense up a bit on Theo’s elbow, and some of the earlier tension creeps back into Nightwing’s frame. “Yes?” “Did the Batmobile have a car seat?” “Did the what have a what ,” Nightwing says. “I’ve seen your stats from when you were just getting started,” Theo says. “You weren’t anywhere close to 4-foot-9. You would’ve needed a booster seat for at least the first two years you were Robin, so.” “So, did the Batmobile have a carseat,” Nightwing repeats faintly. Theo gets out his phone to take notes. “Yes. That is what I am asking.” “Buddy,” Hood says. “Most of the Batmobiles don’t even have seatbelts.” “How would you even know that?” Bernard asks.

IRIS Log #1548, by @deadchannelradio (https://archiveofourown.org/works/51647209) Chapters: 1/1, 8531 Words T, No Archive Warnings Apply
Main Characters: whole batfam
Type of gen relationship: familial
Official summary: A Disclaimer From Your Friendly Neighborhood Oracle: The following is a transcript of Patrol Communications Audio written by state of the art transcription technology, IRIS (Interpretation of Recorded Intelligence Software). IRIS was created to provide easily searchable records, automatically, and eliminate the need to transcribe each patrol audio log manually. That being said, IRIS is still experimental, and may not always be entirely accurate. - (01:25) Red Hood: (Mild static) (Out of breath, slurred) You motherfuckers. Put some fuckin- (01:25) Batman: (Shaking) Red Hood- (01:25) Red Hood: Shut up. Put some fucking respect. On my name. Start fucking copying me. I just got thrown fucking. Um. 40 feet. Into a fucking uh. What's it. Ditch. I'm still fucking conscious. (01:25) Batman: Red Hood, do not move, we're en route- (01:25) Red Hood: What'll I win if I stand up. (01:25) Batman: (Loud) Do not stand up.
Why I love it: The format (transcription of comms) is fun. Also it's. Just. Really funny? The… energy of it? I mean just read the excerpts honestly.
Excerpt: (01:34) Nightwing: Don’t get mad, Red. He’s got a concussion. (01:34) Red Hood: (Agreeably) I am all bonked up. (Laughter: Nightwing) Hey. Cass. Cassie. Is my leg fucked. The right one. (01:34) Blackbat: It. (Pause, 3 seconds) (Reading) I am not your medical provider and can’t diagnose injuries or illness. Please ask your doctor when you are under their care. (01:34) Red Hood: Oh. Um, okay. Can you tell me as buddies? Not as my doctor. (Laughter: Spoiler, Red Robin) Just as buddies. (01:35) Blackbat: …Super busted. Bad. As buddies. (01:35) Batman: Blackbat. We are not medical- (01:35) Red Hood: She said as buddies. It’s fine. (01:35) Spoiler: (Laughing) The as buddies legal loophole.

Bang, bang, by Ididloveyou_once (@ididloveyou) (https://archiveofourown.org/works/30246978) Chapters: 1/1, 5.563 words T, Chose Not to Use Archive Warnings (an accidental gunshot wound played for laughs)
Main Characters: Tim Drake, Jason Todd
Type of gen relationship: very much Siblings
Official summary: ‘You shot me!’ Jason gasped, stunned, ‘Holy shit, you actually shot me.’ Tim’s eyes widened and he froze. They stared at each other for a second, dumbstruck and then- ‘Don’t tell Bruce.’Or: The family enjoy a normal movie night. Except Jason has a gunshot wound and Tim’s the only one who knows and oh- that’s because Tim’s the one who shot him and they really, really need to find a way to leave before anyone finds out.
Why I love it: Hmmm okay so maybe I really like a good Jason & Tim relationship. But objectively. This is great. Peak siblings relationships. The threat of Getting In Trouble forcing an emergency alliance between two mutually annoyed siblings who scramble to hide something? Peak comedy.
Excerpt: ‘Okay, sorry. I didn’t mean it like that either,’ he pinched the bridge of his nose, ‘I just mean. Don’t worry about me being in pain. I’m fine. And don’t worry about looking like an asshole. You shot me, you already look like an asshole. But that’s fine because now we’re even.’ Jason sighed at the kid’s sour expression. So his words of reassurance needed some work, sue him.

Into the Brighter Night, by @shoalsea (https://archiveofourown.org/works/20935463) Chapters: 12/12, 162,894 words G, No Archive Warnings Apply
Main Characters: Tim Drake, whole batfam, Young Justice team
Type of gen relationship: familial and friends
Official summary: When an unknown enemy threatens Robin, Gotham's vigilantes come together to keep him safe. Unfortunately, they're protecting the wrong Robin. Or: Tim Drake plans his own rescue. Things get complicated.
Why I love it: Oooooh not just batfam this time. Tim is way too competent, and the Young Justice have his back (and a lot of resentment towards the batfam). Hyperactive Young Justice energy, Very Good Characterization, miscommunication (as in Bruce -the whole batfam really- is trying but they're super bad at clearly expressing feelings). And the tone of it? The writing? Hilarious and rips your heart out. This is super interesting interconnected character dynamics (with the batfam and Tim's team that's so many more different relationships than usual) and a deep look at canon events, all of it wrapped in hilarious dialogue. One of my fave Tim-centric fics, and I've read some very good ones.
Excerpt: [Impulse on a long distance call with the batfam - minus Tim] Jay makes a disbelieving sound. “You’re telling me that Red Robin—Mr. Responsibility himself—helped you hide and maintain a secret spaceship for years? Seriously?” “Uh, yeah? Duh?” “No offense,” Duke says, “but that doesn’t really sound like the guy we know.” Bruce sighs. Stephanie huffs out a laugh. Impulse just looks unimpressed. “Are we talking about the same person? Robin numero tres, currently Red? The same guy who once hid an extra Batmobile in the batarang budget and shipped it to California in secret? The same guy who founded Young Justice, an unauthorized vigilante group of teens that started out with no adult supervision? And lied to the Justice League and the government to keep Secret safe?” “Secret?” Duke says at the same time Jay sputters out, “He stole a whole Batmobile?” “More like embezzled,” Impulse says. “But yeah, dude, it’s Rob. I know he gives off the straight-and-narrow vibe, like, 90% of the time he’s interacting with the public or authority figures, but that’s mostly because it’s way, waaaay easier to get away with stuff if you don't ‘openly project an air of defiance.’” “Oh my god,” Stephanie says. “He’s given you that speech too?” “He’s given us multiple versions of that speech,” Impulse says. Stephanie’s turned away from the screen now and is explaining to Duke, “Red Robin is kind of the definition of ‘I do what I want,’ but most of the time what he wants to do is at least nominally reasonable or responsible, so no one cares.” “And when somebody does care,” Impulse says, “you just gotta be sneaky and smart. Comply until their backs are turned, you know? I mean, even with the Titans we—what?” he pauses, spinning his chair, clearly distracted by something off-screen. “No, I’m just talking to the Bats. I think there’s a whole flock of them.” Conner Kent wanders into view, towelling off his hair and wearing what looks like some kind of maintenance jumper. “‘Sup,” he says to the camera, leaning in. “Superman’s not there, is he?” “Nope,” Impulse says. “Thank god. Where’s Rob?” “Batnap.” Conner puts his hands on his hips. “Dude. Weren’t you supposed to wake him up?” Impulse spins in his chair again. “Wonder Girl said not to.” “What, and he agreed?” “No. He might have been unconscious at the time. Which, technically, means Wonder Girl is in charge.” Conner groans. “He’s gonna kill you.” Turning to the camera, he adds, “Look, sorry about this, I’ll go get him.” “Heynowaitaminute,” Impulse says. “Listen. I’m the captain, you gotta at least hear me out!” Conner rolls his eyes, but he doesn’t move. “Everything is still going according to plan, okay? Rob did in fact say that we should one hundred percent wake him up as soon as we could get a call through. True. But Wonder Girl said to let him sleep. And he definitely needs it.” “Yeah, but, again, he’s gonna be pissed if—” “Listen. I have thought this through.” When Conner just looks skeptical, he adds, “I have! I worked it out logically. See, if we wake up Rob, Wondy’s gonna be pissed off. At us. Right now. If we don’t wake him up, he’s gonna be pissed off later and he’s gonna be mad at her, not us. Therefore, we should do what Wonder Girl says.”

Beef Consommé, by @vamillepudding (https://archiveofourown.org/works/42348438) Chapters: 2/2; 14.230 words T, Chose Not To Use Warnings
Main Characters: Tim Drake, Jason Todd, Dick Grayson
Type of gen relationship: siblings
Official summary: Parenting is Bruce's thing, and Jason isn't planning on messing with that. But when Bruce fails to spot the countless red flags about Tim's home life, it falls to Jason to step up. Of course it does. Because he's literally the only one in his family who knows how to be responsible, and if Dick disagrees, he can suck it.
Why I love it: I have a weakness for the "Dick and Jason team up and adopt Tim" trope. Also, I love Jason's voice in it. (and this fic is very funny but I feel like I'm repeating myself)
Excerpts: “Pizza?” Tim repeats, sounding hopeful. Jason is on the verge of telling him to go screw himself, but then he starts wondering how long Tim has been in his apartment and whether he ate dinner before he came here. Probably not. Did he eat lunch? Should Jason ask? What would Dick do? “Fine,” he says eventually. “But I’m picking the toppings, and you can’t have dessert.” There’s a beat. “I didn’t want dessert,” Tim says, voice taking on a bewildered edge. “What are you talking about?” - It’s Wednesday evening and Jason is getting pizza. Dick’s waiting back in Jason’s apartment, because growing up with Bruce has him used to getting waited on hand and foot, and apparently he thinks Jason is his own personal servant or something. It’s oppression, is what it is. “It’s not oppression,” Dick yells after him just before Jason closes the door, “it’s called losing a coin toss, asshole!”

Birds on Jaybird Street, by @cynassa (https://archiveofourown.org/works/39115587) Chapters: 4/4, 14.717 words T, No Archive Warnings Apply
Main Characters: Jason Todd, Dick Grayson, Tim Drake
Type of gen relationship: Siblings
Official summary: Jason is both annoyed and weirdly flattered when the replacement turns up to ask him for help. He mentally rearranges his calendar so he can be free Wednesday evening and says, “No, fuck off, I have very important business going on.” Tim eyes his 72” TV playing Japanese wrestling more judgmentally than it really deserves. “Important crime things,” Jason emphasizes. “Make Wingdick do it.” Jason doesn't think much of it when Tim needs his help, or Damian moves in, or even when Dick turns up looking beat all to hell. But at some point he realizes that he might be the best option his brothers have to recover from the cycle of violence that Batman has set up, and all he can think is that things were much easier when he was the villain.
Why I love it: In which Dick and Jason decide to adopt Tim and Damian (Jason's kind of an asshole, but a caring one). Kind of the same reason as the previous one: love that trope, love the tone, very funny.
Excerpt: Jason lies, "Sure, I'll take it up with Bruce " "Sure you will, " Tim scoffs. Jason changes his mind, and decides he will take it up with Bruce. "I don't have the time to keep being your nanny," he announces and then says, disapprovingly, "you skateboard, why don't you have knee and elbow pads?" "I'm Robin," Tim snaps, like he didn't put pants on the costume like a little wuss.

When the Sun Sets on Us
Pairing: Lena Luthor x fem!reader
Summary: Lena meets Y/N a very successful but cutthroat lawyer and media mogul she’s smart, funny with a fiery side, witty and of course drop dead gorgeous her outfits are always on point and she never misses a beat(imagine younger and nicer Cat Grant x Diana Prince) after working a couple contracts with her, Lena starts to fall for this mysterious woman and before she knows it she’s head over heels in love.
***************************************************************
You were in an important meeting with a new high profile client and felt your phone buzz in your blazer pocket, at first you ignored it until you felt it again, you turned your wrist up to read the message on your watch. The green bubble flashed revealing a text from none other than the Lena Luthor:
Hey not sure what your up to but can you call me when you get the chance?
and then another
I'm sorry I called your secretary and she said you were in an important meeting, we can talk later when you're free.
You two had worked on several lawsuits together when her brother ran Lexcorp, so you were on a first-name cell phone number basis, but she never texted or called when you were at work. Someting must be up you said to yourself.
You looked down the table at one of your coworkers who gave you a questioning look, motioning to your watch, they gave you a nod and you excused yourself to your office. You nodded to your secreatary and she knew not to interrupt. You picked up your phone dialing Lenas number it rang twice before she picked up.
"Hello?"
"Y/N?"
"Yea, Lena what's up?
"Nothing it can wait you are supposed to be in an important meeting."
"Well, the upside of being one of the best lawyers in the country and having my name on the firm is that I have some very competent lawyers to run these meetings."
"Okay, I think I need your help."
"You think? What's going on Lena?"
"It's my mom, now that Lex is locked away she wants to take over the company, she against the rebranding, she's also in league with Morgan Edge."
"So..."
"So I'm trying to fight her but they got some of the best lawyers and I can't compete, I need some help."
"Well the good news is she has good but you have the best, I'll be right over."
"Thank you Y/N."
This was your job, you typically dealt with criminal court cases but sometimes you got high-profile clients that, that included CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, sometimes it was big or sometimes it was just the media causing stink and then you would come in and clear everything up, you've helped build reputations and also destroy some. you quickly grabbed your purse and left your office, meeting your secretary.
"Ms. Romero please redirect everyone to my cell if they need anything dyer otherwise tell them I'm dealing with an impportant client."
"Yes Ms. Steele, may I ask who?"
"Ms. Lena Luthor."
"Yes Ma'am I'll put it down, do you need meetings covered?"
"Yes, Mr. Leone is with Mrs. Valentino is with in the meeting now, if you could have them both take my meetings that would be great."
"Sounds good." You turned to walk away but then turned back and fished through your purse.
"Oh and Alexia thank you...." You continued to fish through your ourse grabbing your wallet and pulling out a card. "Here love, it's my card, go get dinner for the three of you it's going to be some long nights, and you all deserve a treat. I'll be sure to come back and check in on everyone though."
"Thank you Ms. Steele!" She said almost stunned.
"Call me if you need anything, and also it's Y/N." she nodded nd you left.
--- time jump ---
You pulled up outside of Lexcorp and quickly parked looking in the irror to make sure you looked good, making your way inside. After the first couple of doors you were met with guards, one held his hand out stopping you.
"I'm sorry Ms. we need to see ID unless you have an appointment."
"Yes, I am here to meet with Ms. Luthor I'm her lawyer, Y/N Steele." before the guard could say anything her secretary came running around the corner apologizing and quickly pulling you towards the elevator, she hopped on and took you upstairs to Lena's office. She handed you a badge and told you to scan at the door as she quickly retreated back to her vast desk. you scanned and heard the lock click quickly opening the door.
When you entered you saw her, Lena Luthor, with long and silky raven hair tied back in a ponytail, her maroon suit hugging her perfectly in all the right areas, she was absolutely gorgeous, but you could see the stress plaguing her features as she paced back and forth behind her desk.
"Lena?" you called pulling her out of her thoughts.
"Oh thank God you're here," she said a sigh of relief coming from her. You walked over set your purse down and laid your coat over the chair.
"So tell me whats up,"
"It's my mom, she wants Lexcorp now and she's sided with Morgan Edge to get her hands on it, promising shares for some dirty work."
"First that's illegal, and I can nail them for insider trading if we can prove it..."
"Well she's been running an... well... no never mind," she said with a shake of her head, little did she know that you knew about CADMUS and the underground lab and experiments, you were secretly DEO for crying out loud.
"You can tell me anything."
he looked at you like she was going to tell you but then you saw that she quickly covered, "She's been spinning the media hoping that they run me out of the company."
"Well, it's good you called because this is my forte straightening out the media and winning these cases."
"I didn't know who else to call," you saw a thin water line come to her eyes, "you're the only one I can trust right now."
You smiled gently at her, "Lena Luthor I promise not to break that trust."
---time jump---
Here you sat in a big corporate office with you and Lena, the other side of the table was full of corporate lawyers, Morgan Edge with his minions, and of course Lillian Luthor.
"Lena this is childish, why don't you just hand over the company rights it's not even yours to begin with."
"Because mother, I was meant to take over Lexcorp and my first step will be rebranding, it's now going to be Luthorcorp so I can bring some respect back to the name.
"Oh foolish girl, you were never a Luthor, you were just another charity case for my husband, you might as well just give me the company, so Morgan here can expand Edge industries.”
“Mother…” Lena tried to reason but her mother knew exactly what to say slowly chipping away at her.
“Mrs. Luthor I would choose your next words very wisely.” You said your cold demeanor seeping through the professionalism, no one deserves to be treated like that.
“Oh and who might you be?”she asked rhetorically, “Lena’s glorified guard dog? Hmm or just the eye candy she keeps around the office, I’ve crushed many careers and aspirations under my boots and you would be no exception.”
“Well I guess it’s good I wear stilettos then,” you smirked a fire in your eyes tempting her. “And I would also like you to know that I’ve never lost a case, and I won’t start today.”
“Well Lena you know how to pick them, where’d you find her acting in broadway or in a back alley.”
“Actually mother she’s from Steele and St. James, I hire only the best not these cheap side hustlers.” She sat back crossing one leg over the other.
“Yes did I forget to mention my name, I’m Y/N Steele,” Lillian eyes stayed on you but you could feel them losing their electricity. “I have a proposition, you allow Lena to keep the company and I allow you to keep these.” You slid a file across to each of them, Morgan squirmed in his seat and Lillian looked up at you mouth agape.
“I believe that can be arranged.” Lillian croaked.
“Good because I would really hate to use that.” You stared back unwavering. Lillian reached over and grabbed the documents signing the company over to her daughter, and quickly leaving. But not before ripping Lena apart.
“I’m not sure what dirty games you’ve played but after this you’re no longer my daughter, you were fine as another charity case but from this day forward your not apart of the Luthor family.” She shot at her and then exited.
Lena quickly retreated to her office and you gathered everything and followed, as you stepped in you saw her staring out the window. You set eveythung down on the table and walked towards her rubbing her back in soothing circles, tears rolled down her cheeks.
“You know I never wanted this I always wanted to help people, save lives with science. I never saw myself running something like this.”
“I’m sure you’re going to do great.” She turned and looked into genuine eyes and a gentle smile.
“Y/N, Thank you.”
“no need to thank me this is what I do.”
“I…well… you’re amazing at it.”
“I try my best.” You stood turning to walk away but she grabbed your arm turning you towards her.
“C… can I…I need to tell you something.”
“Anything you know you can tell me anything.”
“I, well, god Y/N.” She reached up pulling you into a kiss, holding your face, she turned to pull away and you pulled her hips in closer.
“I’ve been waiting to do that for so long.” she said leaning her forehead on yours. You chuckled softly, “why didn’t you?”
“Because you’re Y/N Steele, one of the most successful lawyers in the country, you never miss a beat, never lose a case, your style is impeccable, and you just have this power over people.”
“especially you?”
“Especially me, I vowed to never trust people because again I was so hurt and you showed me I can love and trust again. At first I wasn’t sure but after a few months I tried finding every reason to see you but I always served so determined I didn’t want to distract you.”
“Oh love you’re the prefect kind of distraction.” You placed a kiss to her forehead.
“I love you Y/N.”
“I love you to Lena Luthor.”

and the songbirds are singing like they know the score - sneak peek
Tumblr media
"Because doing what’s best for her is hard, and he realizes that when he can feel his friend wanting to put him through a wall over the phone." or Jake calls the landline at 11 PM on a Thursday because his goddaughter is wasted and Bradley is less than thrilled.
A/N: in light of me finishing my second to last semester of undergrad and my undying love for Bradley's precocious daughter from the halloween fic, i thought i would post a little preview of what i'm working on for them! love these characters more than life and def so excited for y'all to get to know them better soon.
No one ever calls the landline. Very few people even have the phone number for the landline outside of Maverick and a few close family friends. Besides, anyone who would need to reach you had your cell phone numbers anyway.
So who the actual fuck is calling your landline at 11 PM on a Thursday night?
You hear Bradley yank the phone from its place on the wall and exhale with a huff. After sixteen years of being together, you know that huff is his tell of being annoyed.
“Hello?” he gruffly answers. His irritation makes the questions sound more like a monotonous statement.
“Bradshaw –”
Jake Seresin is on the other end of the line. You can recognize his voice from the other room with his cadence even though you’re not the one on the phone with him. Having “mom ears” does that to a person, you suppose.
“Why the fuck are you calling my house at 11 PM?” Bradley snaps.
You’re wondering the same thing, but you’ll have to talk to him about being so rude and huffy. Jake may actually need something, after all.
“Well you weren’t answering your fucking cell and neither was your wife so I had to do something.”
Bradley rolls his eyes and looks back into the darkened living room. He’s been more on edge about you lately.
“You can’t miss me that fucking much to be spamming my phone with calls,” he sighs and leans his back up agaisnt the wall. He notices the open blinds on the back door and starts to walk to close them before he’s yanked back by the phone cord.
“Don’t cream your pants. I don’t like you that much.”
Bradley lets out a soft snort in amusement before he remembers that he’s supposed to be annoyed. He opens his mouth to ask Jake what exactly it is that’s so damn important and can’t wait until tomorrow morning when he’s beaten to it.
“I have Quincy here in the passenger seat and she’s beyond unwell.”
The statement sends Bradley into panic mode instantly. His voice catches in his throat and he can’t recall a moment he’s had where he’s felt like he’s had to force the breath out of himself like this.
He lets out something between a huff, a cough, and a wheeze before remembering he can’t make a huge show of himself right now because it’ll also throw you into panic mode.
“What the fuck do you mean she’s not well? Jake, where the fuck are you?” he whispers into the phone, trying to cover his mouth as much as possible so you can’t even read his lips if you tried. “Is she okay? What’s –”
It doesn’t take a genius to know that Bradley is panicking. Even Bradley’s beyond intoxicated and passed out seventeen-year-old daughter sitting in the passenger seat of Jake’s truck could piece together that her father is nothing but a raging ball of anxiety at the moment, and Jake is positive that his friend is growing another patch of gray hair as the seconds pass.
“Oh. . . fuck, I guess I should’ve phrased that better,” Jake admits. His truck comes to a halt at a spotlight and he glances over at his goddaughter. “She’s fine. She’s definitely drunk as shit right now, but I’m on the way to drop her at yours.”
Bradley can feel the obnoxious orange ball of anxiety inside of him shift to a tumultuous rage induced scarlett. His hand tightens around the cord of the phone and he has to stop himself before he yanks it out of the wall. He’s gotten angry like this before, but it never was angled toward his daughter.
Never toward his sweet, precious girl. Never toward his amazing Quincy.
But she knows the rules (and she chose to break them) and she knows what was told to her (and she snuck out anyway) and she knows that it’s dangerous to be that drunk (but yet she’s passed out in Jake’s truck).
And if that isn’t both nerve-wracking and frustrating, Bradley doesn’t know what is.
“Put her on the phone,” he speaks lowly.
Jake gulps, knowing that he’s in one of those moods. Bradley doesn’t express anger as often as he expresses annoyance, but an angry Bradley is never someone he wants to be around. And from the way that Quincy made it sound when she called him to come get her from some random party in the middle of nowhere thirty five minutes away from her house at 11 PM on a school night, he knows her ass is being had tomorrow morning by both you and Bradley.
There’s absolutely no way his goddaughter is coming out of this unscathed.
“Dude, she’s obliterated right now and I think you talking to her is just gonna make it worse.”
“And I don’t give a fuck. I said, put her on the fucking phone now.”
Jake shakes his head and rolls his eyes as Quincy begins to stir next to him in her seat. He’s always been the person she’s called whenever she was in trouble. He always got the first hug whenever she was brought around. He’s always been her source of comfort outside of her parents and he’s never minded it because being around her is easy.
It was easy to carry her around whenever she asked when she was little. It was easy to give in and let her sit in the cockpit of his grounded aircraft with him and let her play with the buttons when her dad and Papa Mav refused. It was easy to pick her up from school mid-day and take her to lunch. It was easy to bring her back gifts from whenever he was deployed and even easier picking them out because she’s a sucker for meaningless trinkets.
It was easy to be her godfather and she’s a smart and relatively easy kid, but Jake has never been prepared for this part.
Because doing what’s best for her is hard, and he realizes that when he can feel his friend wanting to put him through a wall over the phone.
“No,” he speaks and he can hear Bradley let out a small gasp at the denial of his request, “She fucked up bad, Bradley. I’m sure she knows and you can have it out with her tomorrow morning, but right now, she’s not in any place to be screamed at and made to feel worse. You’re her dad and m’not tryin’ to take that away from you –”
Bradley scoffs, “What exactly do you fuckin’ know about raising kids, Jake? Huh?”
Jake grimaces and decides to take the brute of Bradley’s anger. Better him than Quincy, he figures. Besides, he knows Bradley doesn’t mean any of it. . . At least he hopes he doesn’t.
“You obviously can’t be a dad because you just wanna have fun and dick around all the fucking time. Buying them fuckin’ candy and letting them off scott-free doesn’t do shit. You don’t have what it takes to raise a fucking person.”
Jake doesn’t know why, but part of him starts to get that prickly feeling in his chest. Usually, every insult rolls off his shoulders into oblivion and he gets off on making people angry and being able to put on the facade that he really couldn’t give a damn if he tried.
But this one hurts because he knows that Bradley is right in some regard.
He’s a runner and he lets people down. He’s nearing fifty (and God, he never thought he ever would) and has never even bothered to settle down. And he’s made the peace with himself a long time ago that he doesn’t deserve a wife or a family or kids because he would never be able to love them more than he loves himself; more than he loves his career.
To hear one of your closest friends admit that to you openly, to know that someone outside of you sees it too, makes his heart stop momentarily and forces him to feel the ache of the words meant to stab him in the chest.
“I understand,” he swallows. He knows arguing with Bradley isn’t the right thing to do at the moment and never will be. “I’m still not putting her on the phone. We will be at your house shortly.”
The line goes dead and Bradley is overcome with a wave of anger that drowns him like a tsunami. He knows what he said was shitty and that he has no right to do that to someone who he considers a close friend, but he just can’t help himself.
He knows no allies when it comes to his daughter.

Wardrobe Malfunction
summary: you’ve worn the wrong clothes to school today, but Eddie is there to rescue you w/c: 695 warnings: swearing, use of pet names (sweetheart) a/n: I just needed this to exit my brain honestly. I saw this post and then @kokoshka67 said something about it and yeah
You were panicking. You hadn’t expected to have to be in the lab today, the teacher had told the entire class it would be further down the line and yet when you’d walked into class this morning Mrs Campbell had announced you’d all be working ahead of schedule.
Which is why you were currently in the faculty bathroom trying to reach your mom who wasn’t answering her cell. You just needed someone to bring you a pair of pants so you could actually participate in class and not just fail outright because today of all days you chose to wear a skirt.
“Fuck fuck fuck” you paced the bathroom and chewed on the nail of your thumb, “what am I gonna do?”
“Not to eavesdrop or anything but I might have a solution” a boys voice called from one of the stalls. You hadn’t even known anyone else was in the bathroom, Mrs Campbell had given you special permission to use the bathroom to try and call your mom.
As the door opened and Eddie Munson walked out you stopped chewing on your thumbnail for a moment to answer him,
“What do you mean?”
“Well. The way I see it you need pants, I happen to be wearing a pair today”
“I don’t get it. Are you telling me you’re gonna give me your pants?”
“That’s exactly what I’m saying. Well more of a trade really”
“A trade?” you quirked an eyebrow at the strange look on Eddie’s face,
“Sure sweetheart. I’ll let you wear my pants for lab and you can give me your skirt for English and we’ll swap back after. If you want”
You could only imagine the look on your face to be some sort of comical shock by the way Eddie laughed,
“Why would you help me? You don’t even know me!”
“Call it my good deed for the month” Eddie laughed, “so what do you say? Wanna trade?”
“You’re crazy Munson” you laughed, Eddie already reaching for the zipper on his jeans, “alright, let’s trade”
«────── « ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ » ──────»
What you hadn’t expected after your impromptu bathroom swap was Eddie Munson confidently strutting down the hallways of Hawkins High in your skirt drawing all the attention away from your ill fitting jeans.
If anyone was curious about where you’d squired the new bottom half of your clothing they didn’t say anything. Or rather Mrs Campbell didn’t give them time to.
After class it did occur to you that you didn’t know where Eddie’s English class was so you could swap back, you were grateful for the jeans but you did want your skirt back since it actually fit you properly.
You asked around and found Eddie outside the school on an old bench behind the football field,
“You know I think I might have to get a few of these” Eddie said instead of hello, “I feel so mobile” he demonstrated his new found mobility with an imitation of a cheerleading high kick which made you laugh loudly when he lost his balance and fell onto the grass below,
“Might be a little advanced for you” you said in between laughing, “maybe you should give me the skirt back”
“What if I wanna trade something again?” Eddie said with a smirk, “what then?”
“What else do you want to trade?” you asked, “notes in class?”
“How about a date?”
“A date?”
“Yeah. You can pick what you wanna trade it for”
You couldn’t help but laugh again. Eddie seemed so earnest,
“Alright, I'll trade for a date. How about my number?”
“Seems like a fair trade to me sweetheart”
“I still want my skirt back” you told him as you input your number into his phone,
“I don’t know. Seeing you in my clothes is really doing it for me” Eddie whispered in your ear making the hair on the back of your neck stand up, “but I’m a gentleman, gotta get that date first” he said stepping away and holding up his hands
“Dork” you laughed again. You hadn’t anticipated this is how your day would turn out but you were happier than ever you’d chosen to wear a skirt that morning.

One Week Later
Pensacola Fl,
Shantell’s Condo
“So you mean to tell me you and Jey ain’t never did anything?” my mom asked looking at me in shock. “No mama we haven’t.  We’re friends that’s all,” I said wishing she would drop the subject.
“So all the nights he’s been in your room, ya’ll ain’t did nothin’?” she asked again pushing the subject. “Nope….Nothing,” I said as she laughed.
“I don’t buy it, I felt the heat in that hospital room, ya’ll like each other,” my mom said as I shook my head.
“Mama, we are friends, he’s going through a divorce. His wife cheated on him and he’s going through a lot right now,” I said as my mother's eyes bout popped out of her head.
“Girl who stupid enough to cheat on that man, he fine as hell. Not fine as Joe but he fine,” she said as I laughed.
“Mama he’s been hurt, he is trying to heal himself and I don’t want to get hurt,” I said honestly trying to hold back my tears as my mom sat beside me on the couch.
“Sweetie, you already in deep, I can tell you falling in love with him,” she said as I sighed knowing she was right. “I know mama, but I’m not going to act on it,” I said as my mother hugged me.
“You two are playing a dangerous game, and I just don’t want you to get hurt,” she said rubbing my back as I cried. “He won’t hurt me mama because I'm going to protect myself, I promise,” I assured her as she held me tighter.
“I hope not, I don’t want to have to hurt him,” she said as I laughed pulling away from her as the doorbell interrupted us.
“Are you expecting anyone?" my mom asked as I shook my head no. “It’s Joe baby,” she said looking out the window. “He was supposed to come by earlier today, but he should be at the arena by now,” I said readjusting my pillows on the couch.
Joe’s POV
I don’t know how I ended up here but I left the building in a panic. I’m losing control of everything. I knew what the results of my bloodwork meant.
“Hey sweetheart come in,” Mama Tanya said giving me a hug. “Thanks ma I just wanted to check on Shantell before I went to the arena,” I said following her into the living room.  “Hey, bestie!” Shantell said smiling brightly at me as I couldn’t help but smile.
“Hey babydoll, how are you feeling?” I asked trying to act natural sitting beside her, putting her legs in my lap subconsciously rubbing them.  “I’m doing okay, the pain is still getting to me at times but it’s a part of it,” she said shrugging her shoulders.
“I’m just glad you’re ok, you scared the fuck out me,” I said honestly before she cut me off “What’s really wrong bear? You were supposed to come over this morning before the show what happened? I mean you should be at the building getting ready by now,” Shan said grabbing my hand urging me to look at her. Damn, she could always pick up on when something is off with me.
“I was running behind getting to the arena, so I just decided to stop by for a few before I headed there,” I said as she sat up. “Lie number one you are never late getting to the building, what’s going on Joe?" she asked more urgently as I caved.
“They called me in early to go over my bloodwork, my white cell count is high,” I said trying to comprehend the news Mike had given me about an hour ago.
“Well what does that mean? she asked rubbing my hand as I sighed. “My body is fighting off something,” I said not wanting to say it out loud. I knew what my body was fighting off It had been doing it for eleven years.
“Do they know what it is?” she asked as I tried to hold it together. “My leukemia is back Shan,” I whispered as she instantly pulled me into a hug as I broke down and cried.
“It’s going to be ok, I’m here. You are going to beat this, you hear me,” she whispered as I held her tighter not able to form any words to sum up how I was feeling.
I had finally won the championship and my career was finally on track and everything was in jeopardy.
____
Shantell’s POV
I knew Joe needed me and I would be there any way I could for him. I couldn't believe his cancer was back. “What is the next step?" I asked as he pulled away almost hiding himself. I knew he was prideful and probably didn’t want to show weakness in front of me.
“I got to forfeit the title tonight, and see my doctor tomorrow to see what the plan for treatment is,” he said as my mom came back in.
“Hey, I made ya’ll some coffee,” she said as Joe stood up rubbing his face as my mom touched his shoulder in comfort. "What’s wrong sweetheart?" she asked concerned as Joe tried to wrangle in his emotions.
“Ma, I’m ok. I just needed to see Shantell for a few minutes. I’m really running late, so I’ll see ya’ll after the show maybe if it ain’t too late,” Joe said giving her a hug.
“You sure because you know you can tell me anything,” my mom whispered as he held her tight. "I’m good ma, I promise," he said rubbing his eyes, trying to keep his tears at bay. “You don’t have to leave just yet Joe, stay a little longer,” I said as he sighed.
“I’m ok Shantell really, I’ll call you after the show to make sure you up and stop back by I promise,” he said leaning down, giving me another hug and a kiss on the cheek before quietly leaving.
“Is he ok Shantell?” my mom asked as I whipped my tears. “No, he’s not but he will be, “I said confidently refusing to believe he was sick. “I’ve never seen him like that,” my mom said going to the window to make sure he was ok.
“Ma, I need a favor,” I said as she turned to me already knowing what I was going to ask. “I already know, go get dressed. I’ll drop you off, but you better sit yo ass down somewhere when you get there,” she said as I laughed gently getting up and going to get dressed. I knew I had to be there for him.

Monday Night Raw
Pensacola, FL
Jey’s POV
“My name is Joe and I’ve been fighting leukemia for eleven years,” Joe said trying to get himself together as a hush fell over the crowd. We were all standing in Gorilla as Joe poured his heart out. “It isn’t fair,” Trin whispered as Jimmy put his arm around her.
“Big Uce gon’ beat this like last time baby, I know it,” Jimmy said reassuring her as Paul went over to Seth and Dean. “Ya’ll meet him out there,” he said as they went further by the curtain.
“What about his real family? You could at least let Jimmy and Jey go out with them. You know his actual family, no disrespect ya’ll ” Trin said pointing to Seth and Dean as they both nodded in understanding as Paul came over and tried to smooth things over.
“I’m sorry Trin, Vince wanted them out there, they are doing an angle where Dean is going to turn on Seth later in the show,” Paul said as Trin rolled her eyes.
“Leave it to ya’ll to turn his tragedy into a fuckin storyline that doesn’t even make sense,” Trin said as Jimmy nodded in agreement. "Is it really necessary at this point," Jimmy asked as I agreed with him
“Look, what we trying to say is what’s going on should bring the characters together not have them feuding, “I said confused by their logic.
“My point exactly, that’s insane. You just reunited the group and now ya’ll breaking them up again,” Trin said as Paul shook his head in understanding.
“It wasn’t my call, it was Vince,” Paul said as Jimmy looked unsure of what to say as my phone went off.
Good Shantell was here, I kinda figured when Uce disappeared, he went to see her. I knew no matter what she would find a way to be here tonight, and she didn’t disappoint.
“Aye, I’ll be back I need to do something,” I said leaving them at the TV, watching Joe lay down his championship title. I’m glad Shantell texted, I needed a break from all of this.
The more Joe talked and fell apart, the harder it was getting for me to hold it together myself.
Shantell’s POV
“Mama you didn’t have to wait with me, Jey is on the way,” I said standing beside the car. “Girl shut up, I wanna make sure," she said as I smiled shaking my head at her antics. She was going to be messy, I just knew it.
“Hey, sorry it took so long,” Jey said jogging up to us as I gave him a small smile. “I was waiting on you Mr. Fatu, step in my office,” my mom said motioning him to come over to her car.
“Oh lord, there she go,” I muttered as he laughed. “What’s up Ma?" he asked leaning into the car as they embraced. I saw her whisper something in his ear as he blushed and nodded.
“What ya’ll talking about?” I asked as he turned and smiled at me.
“Well, I missed you too brat,” he said smartly as I rolled my eyes but hugged him as tight as my sore body would allow. “I missed your aggravating self too,” I said laughing as he chuckled caressing my back.
“And don’t you be worrying bout what me and mama got goin’ on,” he said laughing as I slapped him playfully on his back as my mom scoffed.
I pulled away and looked at her as she rolled her eyes. “Friends my ass,” I heard her whisper, as I tried to not blush.
“Jey or Joe will bring me home ma, you can go get some rest,” I said as she pointed at Jey “Take care of my baby Joshua, and don’t let her do a lot,” she said as Jey gently grabbed my hand.
“I got her Ma, she’s in the best hands possible,” he said waving at her, steering me towards the entrance. As I looked back at my mom, she shot me a wink and a smile before driving off. She is so messy, but I adore her.
“Thanks for coming to get me Jey,” I said as he turned and smiled at me. “Always Shan, I got you,” he said as the arena door opened and we were face to face with a shocked Joe.
“Shantell! What you doing here?” he asked coming straight to me, engulfing me in a gentle hug. “I wanted to be here for my brother,” I said rubbing his back.
“You should be resting, hell I was about to head to your house,” he said laughing as did I.
“I guess ya’ll had the same idea,” Jey said looking down, playing with his beard.
Jey’s POV
Looking at Shantell in Joe’s arms had me feeling some type of way. That in itself is stupid because he just found out life, and career-altering news... Who wouldn’t want a hug from their best friend…
Shantell said she loved Joe like a brother and in the short time I’ve known her, I know she wouldn’t lie to me.  I also can’t deny it, there is some chemistry between them.
Trin and Jimmy walking out with their bags caught me off guard. “Bro, I got yo bags, Paul told us to go wit Uce. So, we were gon’ surprise Shantell wit a visit and maybe go get waffle house or something,” Jimmy said as I pointed and his eyes landed on Shantell as he dropped our bags in shock grinning as we all laughed.
“Hey Jimmy Jam,” Shantell said as he laughed walking closer to her.
“Well look at you up and around. It’s good to see you,” he said scooping her up in his arms as Shantell slightly winced but smiled. “It’s good to see you, brother,” she said as I frowned.
“You gotta be careful Uce she had surgery a week ago, don’t squeeze her like that,” I said making him put her down. “Sorry sis,” he said putting me down.
“It’s ok don’t worry about it,” Shantell said gently hitting my hand before giving Trin a hug. “It’s good to see you girly,” Trin said as Shantell smiled. “It’s good to see you too,” Shantell whispered as they held each other.  Despite the circumstances, the gang was back together, and I felt complete.
--------- Waffle House
Joe’s POV
Looking at my family eating and joking around makes me feel blessed. Yes, tonight I had to forfeit my championship, but it would be my time again. I had a battle to fight and wit them all in my corner I knew I was ready for the challenge.
“Oh I love this song, come dance with me Shantell,” Trin said as “You” by Lloyd began to play as she stood up and took Shantell’s hand.
“Leave it to you to want to dance in the middle of waffle house,” Shantell said laughing as they went in front of the counter and began dancing.
“Them two is trouble, I swear they act like they've known each other all their life,” Jimmy said smiling at them dancing as Jey seemed to be watching Shantell like a hawk.
“She ain’t gon’ hurt herself Uce, she’s good,” I said reassuring him as I saw Shantell moving slower than Trin but staying in step with her.
“Yeah, you right,” Jey said pulling out his phone, sighing as his text alerts were going off back to back. I saw his eyes get wide before he pressed some buttons. “Uh, delete…You ain’t finna get me caught up,” Jey whispered as Jimmy, and I shared a knowing look.
“I know that ain’t Candy,” Jimmy said as Jey’s phone rang and he picked up. “Yea, it’s late what’s up?” he asked as I frowned. I hate that woman I swear.
“Yea I saw your picture…Uh, I’ma chill tonight cause I don’t think that’s a good idea,” Jey said as I raised my eyebrow in curiosity.  “Look it ain’t happening Candy, goodnight,” Jey said hanging up.
“Do I even want to know?” I asked as Jey frowned. “She wanted some dick,” Jey said without missing a beat as Jimmy nearly spit out his juice.
“Wait what the hell,” I said laughing in disbelief. “You heard me, she sent me a nude picture sayin’ she missed me and wanted me to dick her down,” Jey said straight faced as I shook my head.
“Damn Uce, she desperately trying to work it out wit you huh,” Jimmy said as Jey scoffed. “Nah, she knows she’s not entitled to no money if we divorce. I’m just over the bullshit we got a session tomorrow and I’m dreading it” Jey said putting his phone done in exhaustion.
Yea, he needed this divorce the fast way. “It’s gon be over soon Uce, you just gotta ride the wave,” Jimmy said as Jey growled.  “Aye, ya’ll could have danced with us,” Shantell said sitting beside me.
“Uh, we just had a little guy talk,” Jey said smiling as Shantell tilted her head in wonder but dropped the subject and took a sip of her juice.
I saw Jey stealing glances at Shantell as she and Trin were talking when he thought nobody was looking.
I knew I was right, he liked her..Bye-bye Candy and hello Shantell. Yeah, we all would be alright, I just knew we would be.

Two Weeks later
Pensacola, FL
Joe’s 1st Annual Family Barbecue
Shantell’s POV
“Mama I could have drove myself, you didn’t have to,” I said as she personally walked me the door. “Uh, doctor said six weeks and it’s barely been three plus you still hurting. So that is end of that discussion Shantell,” my mom said as I sighed using my key to unlock Joe’s door and went inside.
“Oh, you got a key?” my mom asked surprised. “Mama don’t start,” I said as she laughed. “See ya’ll two playin’ games,” she said following me as I went into the kitchen to wash my hands. “Ain’t nobody playin’ mama,” I said as she scoffed at my words.
“Where is Joe?” my mom asked as I looked in the fridge to make sure Joe had got what I asked him for to make some side dishes.
“He’s on the way back from his doctor's appointment, his cousin Sefa took him. He had to get his chemo pills today,” I said shuffling around the kitchen.
“I pray it’s not hard on him, chemo is no joke,” my mom said as I nodded in agreement.
My grandmother had a hard battle with breast cancer and thank God she was in remission and back living in Ohio, but I truly missed her. I knew if anyone could do this it would be Joe and he would beat this again.
“Hey, he’s gonna beat this Shantell,” my mom reassured me as I smiled at her. "I know he will mama," I said trying to not think about the hard road I knew Joe had ahead of him.
Sefa’s POV
“Aye, let me open the door man,” I said taking Joe’s keys. “I’m good uce just the medical terms had me freaking out a little,” Joe said we made our way inside.
“Shantell we back,” Joe said as I smirked. “Shantell, as in Jey’s Shantell?” I asked as Joe nodded, then looked at me in confusion
“What you mean Jey’s Shantell?” Joe asked as I laughed. “Trin told me he likes her but is in denial,” I said as I saw Shantell and an older woman coming into the foyer.
“Hey how did it go?” she asked giving Joe a hug as I observed her. Ok, Josh, I see you bro, definitely an upgrade. Shantell was beautiful. “It went good, I start in the morning taking the chemo pills,” he said kissing her on the cheek.
“Uh, who is this, Joe?” the older lady asked as Joe laughed turning to me. “I’m sorry ya’ll this is my cousin Joseph, but we call him Sefa,” Joe said introducing me as I smiled waving at them. “Sefa, this is Shantell and her mother Tanya,” Joe said smiling brightly.
“It’s nice to meet ya’ll,” I said as Shantell smiled at me. “Nice to me you. The guys talk about you a lot,” Shantell said as I smiled at her.
“So you the twins brother huh?” Shantell’s mom asked smirking at me as I nodded. “Ya’ll damn Samoans so pretty,” she said as Shantell looked horrified. “Mama! I am so sorry Sefa,” She said as Joe, and I laughed.
“Aye, we got them good genes, what can I say. Uh, so what is smelling good in there?” I asked trying to change the subject to make Shantell feel less embarrassed.
“Oh, just a few things I’m preparing for the party, Mom don’t you need to be heading back,” she said steering her mother towards the door.
“Girl, I know when to get the hint, ya’ll have fun,” she said giving Shantell a hug as Joe stepped in. “I’ll walk you out Ma,” Joe said as she winked at him letting me know they had something to talk about.  “I’ll check on the food, come help me Sefa,” Shantell said going into the kitchen, ushering me to join her.
Yea, she’s a looker, yea big brother is in trouble wit this one. I think she and Sofia will get along good. I hope….

Dr, Collins's Counseling services
Pensacola, FL
Jey's POV
“Mr. Fatu, I promise we aren’t trying to railroad you. I think Candy would just like to know is there a chance for reconciliation?" Dr. Collins asked as I scoffed.
“She cheated, and don’t even get me started about all my money she spent on dumb shit,” I said looking at her in disgust.
“You never were home, you gotta own part of this too,” Candy said as I sighed.
“I was lonely Jey and I slipped up,” she said as I looked at the doctor. “Look, I know I agreed to this and all but I ain’t gon’ be the reason she uses for fucking up our marriage. This ain’t no slip up she has been havin’ an affair for the last year wit this dude,” I said as Dr. Collings nodded in understanding at me.
“I agree, Candy you got to take accountably somewhere,” she said as Candy began getting very dramatic. “I am!…I just want him to understand, I mean I know he has to have cheated on me on the road. It’s too many women there,” she said as I interrupted her.
“No, I never cheated because I respected my vows to yo ass. I could have had any woman I wanted but I wanted my wife. I watched the pain cheating caused my mama when I was younger and I ain’t built that way to betray the people I love,” I said honestly as she looked at me with shame.
“I didn’t know, I swear Jey,” Candy whispered as I shook my head. “I had no problem turning away women because It wasn’t worth fuckin’ up what we was tryin’ to build. I told you how my daddy did my ma and now you don’t remember," I said slightly angry.
"It must have slipped my mind Jey, I have a lot going on too,” Candy said as I rolled my eyes at her fake words.
“Nah, you told me what I wanted to hear in those moments to manipulate me. All this was a game from the beginning,” I said getting up as the timer buzzed letting us know the session was over.
“Good it’s over, I ain’t gotta talk about this shit no more,” I said shaking the doctor's hand before walking out the door without even looking at Candy.
Yeah, I needed to get to Joe’s quick. I needed to unwind with my family to get my mind off this shit. I wonder if Shantell is going to be there today.

Fatu Family Home
Sandra’s POV
“What do you mean he walked out baby? I asked trying to comfort Candy on the phone as I loaded up my car to head to Joe’s. “He just left, I don’t know why he’s pushing me away,” Candy said as I sighed.
“Look just come to Joe’s, I’m on my way there. Maybe ya’ll hanging out with family will help,” I said as the line got quiet. “Are you there Candy?” I asked as I heard her clear her throat.
“Ok, Ma I’m behind Jey anyway so I’ll just follow him there,” she said quietly. “Ok baby, I’ll see you in a few minutes, “I said hanging up, trying to put my cake in the car.
I don’t know why this boy is givin’ this girl the run-around. He knows once you marry someone you are locked in. We don’t play this mess about divorce.
Hopefully, they can work this out, I know she can’t be guilty of the things everyone has been saying. She loves my Joshua too much to risk that.

Joe’s House
Pensecola, FL
Jey’s POV
“Why the fuck is she following me?” I muttered turning in, seeing Candy pull in behind me.  Getting out of my car I headed towards the front door ignoring her, I was over today altogether.
“You can’t ignore me Jey, let’s just talk,” Candy said rushing to catch up with me as I reached the door about to knock.
“Look, I still want the divorce, I did what your lawyer wanted. I still feel the same, It’s over,” I said trying to get Candy to understand.  “Who is she?” Candy asked as I was about to push the doorbell.
“Stop being crazy it ain’t nobody else, you fucked this up by cheating,” I said sticking to my guns. “I can’t believe you followed me over here from the session. I ain’t in the mood today,” I hissed as she smiled at me.
“Your mom invited me, what can I say she loves me,” Candy said smirking at me as I groaned. “If she only damn knew,” I whispered.
“Why you so uptight…. I bet it’s that bitch Shantell that has you hung up. let me find out and my lawyers will have a field day,” Candy said as I invaded her space.
“First off she ain’t no bitch, she’s a woman.  A real one, something yo ass can only dream of being,” I hissed in her face as she looked appalled.
“You can’t talk to me like that Jey,” Candy whispered as I stood my ground. “I’m serious Candy, don’t even look at her let alone talk to her today,” I said viciously as she rolled her eyes and smacked her lips.
Ugh, I hated when she did that shit. Yea, she gon' act a damn fool and this time I ain't gon' stop Sofia from kicking her ass either.
“So, it is true? Is she the one that's got your mind crossed up? Hell, are you and Joe sharing her or something?” Candy asked trying to spark a reaction outta me.
“That ain’t none of yo concern is it seeing as yo little boy toy is living in our house,” I whispered ringing the doorbell as Candy growled under her breath.
I have never been more thankful than when Sefa answered the door.
"Hey!…Uh bro what is she doing here?” he asked looking at me, then at Candy as she smiled at him.  “Your mom invited me, and I promise it won’t be a problem Sefa as long as your dog is on a leash,” she said smirking at him.
“My lady ain’t no dog…. Hell, if anybody round here needs a leash it’s yo ass. I mean all we gotta do is tighten it right around your legs maybe it’ll help you keep them closed sometimes,” Sefa said smartly smiling at the look of shock and embarrassment on Candy’s face.
“Go to hell Sefa, Candy said as he laughed.  “I’m already there, I got see yo face all night,” Sefa said not missing a beat as I snickered in spite of myself.
“A'ight let’s get along ya’ll,” I said ushering her inside as she went out on the patio. “Bro, have you met Shantell yet?” I asked as Sefa smiled. “Yeah, I met her this morning. She helped Joe with the sides while we grilled. She should be on her way backm Joe took her home to change,” he said smiling as I frowned at him.
“What the fuck you smiling for?” I asked as his smile turned into a full smirk “I’m gon’ enjoy watching yo ass squirm tonight,” Sefa said walking away.
Fuck me running, I should have stayed at Jimmy’s…

Party Disaster
Shantell’s POV
“Gril I’m loving this sundress and hat combo Trin said as I blushed. “Stop it Trin,” I whispered as she nudged my shoulder. “Stop being modest, you look good girl. How are you feeling?” she asked as I sighed.
“The pain is getting better, but I’m ready to get back to feeling normal, my new semester classes start soon. But if I’m honest, I really miss being on the road wit ya’ll,” I said honestly with a sigh.
“We miss you too, girl, I’m overloaded with male testosterone. Sometimes I just wanna strangle they ass,” Trin said pouting as Sofia joined us. “Hey, is this the if you ain’t got nothin’ good to say come stand by me section,” she said smartly as Trin, and I laughed. “I guess you could say that,” I said looking over at Candy who was by Jey as he talked to his mom.
“Mama Uce gon’ try to keep them two together, but that ship has passed,” Sofia said grabbing a beer out of the cooler.
“Yea, and Candy playing it cool and innocent is driving me up the damn wall,” Trin said as I frowned looking at Candy touching Jey’s arm, as he looked uncomfortable.
I hate her…I really am having a hard time trying to figure out how he ended up with someone like her.
“Why won’t he just tell her where to go and how to get there?” I asked, honestly wanting to know. “He’s a mama’s boy chile, whatever mama says it goes. I hope he gets outta that shit,” Sofia said as Jimmy and Joe came up.
“What are ya’ll beautiful ladies up here talkin’ about?” Jimmy asked as we all looked at each other, then down at the ground avoiding the question.
“Ain’t it obvious Uce, they talking about Candy being here, and putting on a show for Aunt Sandra,” Joe said as I looked over at Jey’s mom giving Candy a hug, as she began heading our way.
“Alright, I'ma let ya’ll young folks enjoy your night,” she said giving Trin and Sofia a hug. “It was nice to meet you Mrs. Fatu,” I said as she caught me off guard giving me a hug as well.
“Same here sweetie, I’m glad you’re feeling better and was able to make it today. My boys have told me a lot of good things about you,” she said as I embraced her in return.
“Thank you, I’m glad Joe invited me,” I said smiling at her warm welcome.
“A'ight mama let her go,” Jimmy said scooping in to get a hug along with Joe. “You sure you got enough food auntie?” Joe asked as she smiled at him. “Yea, baby I got enough, Sefa out there loading up my things in the car” she said as Joe put his arm around her and began walking her out.
“I’ll be back, play nice ladies,” Joe said as Sofia rolled her eyes. “I’ll play nice when the trash takes itself out,” she whispered as Jimmy sighed in dread.
“I’m glad she left before dinner because I couldn’t take much more of being nice to this ho,” Trin said as I saw Jey and Candy appearing to argue as Candy tried to put her arms around his neck as he cringed and pulled away.
Jey’s POV
“Aye, my mama gon’ you can see yo self out now. I’m bout to eat with my family,” I said as Candy smiled at me. “I will go after dinner, I mean even Joe told me I could stay,” Cand said as I rolled my eyes at her antics.
“That’s cause you heard my mom say earlier she was leaving before dinner so you begged Joe in front of her to stay,” I hissed frustrated as hell I had to be around her this long.
“Bro, let’s just eat so she can go,” Jimmy said as I  saw the girls heading inside “That’s the best thing you’ve said all day Uce,” I said walking away from Candy as I heard her mutter something I couldn’t make out.
I saw Shantell sitting next to Sofia and it made my heart feel good to see them getting along. Sofia didn’t like a lot of people, but she seemed to have taken to Shantel. Hell, they seem to be in their own little world right now.
“Come sit by me Jey,” Trin said patting the seat next to her as I smiled in appreciation because that would leave Candy to sit by Jimmy and nowhere near me.
“So, you ain’t gon’ sit by me?” Candy asked sitting next to Jimmy as Sofia smacked her lips. “Girl, get the hint, this is embarrassing. Jey doesn’t want you, let alone sit beside you,” Sofia said as Trin sighed.
“Look let’s just get through this ya’ll,” Trin said trying to fix her plate.
“Um, can you pass the chicken Trin?” Shantell asked as she smiled at her brightly. “Sure boo, Joe and Sefa can put down on the grill you so you gon’ love it,” she said passing the bowl to Shantell.
Damn, she really did look beautiful today I admired her as Joe and Sefa came in.  Joe sat beside her as Sefa sat on the other side of Sofia. “Are you good Shan?” he asked as she smiled.
“I promise I’m okay, so no need to fuss over me,” she said as Candy leaned back in her chair and smirked at me.
“I’m just making sure you're good, humor me,” he said as she smiled shaking her head at him. “Between you and mom I don’t know who’s smothering me more,” she said laughing.
Damn even her laugh is beautiful. Get it together Jey, ya’ll are just friends...Leave it at that... You don’t want to hurt her.
“Oh, don’t ya’ll make a cute couple,” Candy said shooting me another smirk.
“We ain’t a couple Candy,” Joe said looking at me as I shrugged my shoulders having no idea where she was going with this.
“Looks like it to me, I mean ya’ll interact like a couple. What do you think Jey?” Candy asked as Shantell frowned at her. I didn’t even look at Candy I was too focused on Shantell.
“Not that it’s any of your business but we aren’t a couple. I mean men and women can be friends without sleeping with each other. Maybe you should try it sometime,” Shantell said taking a sip of her wine as Sefa and Jimmy's eyes bout bugged out their heads as they looked back and forth between Shantell and Candy unsure of who to watch.
“Oh, shit Shantell got some spunk,” Sefa whispered smirking at me as I tried to play it cool.  This is a new side to Shantell I’ve never seen and honestly, I’m shook but I think I like it.
” I knew I liked you, girl, you alright wit me,” Sofia said lightly nudging Shantell as Candy scoffed at her. Sofia snickered completely unbothered by Candy’s attitude as my focus shifted back to Shantell who wore a neutral look on her beautiful face.
She casually took another sip of her wine waiting for Candy to respond.
“So, what the fuck you tryin’ to say Shantell?” Candy asked as Shantell sat her glass down. “Shantell it’s ok, you ain’t gotta answer that,” I said as she shot me a look that told me to stay in my lane.
“Aye, get out that set of business bruh, this shit was bound to happen,” Jimmy said pointing between Shantell and Candy before going back to eating his food.
“You ain’t helping this Jimmy, just shut the hell up and eat your food,” Trin hissed as Jimmy shrugged his shoulders ignoring her.
“I ain’t trying to say nothing, I already said it. Did you not understand it the first time?” Shantell asked continuing to eat her food, paying Candy no attention. Is it bad I’m turned on as fuck right now as to how she's handling herself.
Shantell’s POV
Who does this bitch think she is coming in here asking personal questions and assuming shit? I ain’t the one throwing my pussy around..... She is and I ain’t Jey, I will get wit that ass. This bitch don’t know me at all.
“No Shantell, I actually didn’t hear you. Do you do you care to repeat it?” Candy said as I felt Joe’s hand on my knee. “Shantell, let it go babydoll,” Joe said as I looked at him and smirked innocently.
“Ah, hell….. You ain’t gon’ let it go, are you? Joe asked as I ignored him focusing my attention back on Candy, letting him know he was right about his assumption.
“Aye, uh Jey, I think it’s time for Candy to leave,” Joe said trying to calm things down as Jey agreed. "I think you right Uce, let's go,Candy," Jey said as Joe nodded.
“No wait ya’ll she wanted an answer, I'ma give her one,” I said as Candy smiled at me.  “Yeah, I want to hear it from you, since everyone seems to love to protect you. I mean are you scary,” Candy gloated as Trin shot her a nasty look.
“Girl please you couldn’t do nothin' with Sofia, you really ain’t bout to handle Shantell,” Jimmy said without missing a beat.
“Well, Candy I ain’t never scared sweetie, and I ain’t got a problem repeating anything I say. So, I’ll break it down in simpler terms so even you can understand it. You need to mind your own fuckin’ business, and get out of mine,” I said smirking, raising my glass at her in mock toast before taking a sip of my wine, waiting for her response.
“Now it’s getting thick, bout to get straight damn ugly,” I heard Sefa whisper to Sofia as she tried to hold in her laughter.
“See and you were worried bout me actin’ up,” she said as Candy stood up from the table.
“It is my business when you fuckin’ my husband! I know you are!” Candy screamed banging her hands on the table as I stood up ready to pounce if need be, as Joe grabbed me and Jey grabbed Candy.
“You doin' an awful lot of pounding on the table Candy, like you wanna make a move. I'm right here so if you feel froggy come one and leap yo ass over here and do something," I said as Joe growled.
"I ain't lettin' your ass go, so calm down," Joe whispered. "Let me go, Joe, I just want to talk to her,” I said calmly trying to push him away from me as his grip slightly tightened.
“Come on Shantell you still healing. You could hurt yourself and she ain’t worth that. Calm down babydoll,” Joe whispered against my temple, holding me close as I relaxed in his arms.
I noticed Jey seemed to be observing us as I saw the instant frown on his face when Joe took me in his arms.
What the hell was that about? Did he really think Joe and I were together or was he mad at Candy situation?
Sefa’s POV
“Let me go! Just be honest you fuckin that bitch Jey!” Candy screamed pointing at Shantell.  Yea, I knew shit was gon’ pop off.
“You are embarrassing yourself and me!” Jey said slightly, raising his voice in frustration as Shantell began laughing.
“Bitch!.... Girl don’t use that word. Bitch is too high class of a word for you to even use. But you are right though, I AM THAT BITCH that’s why you so pressed, but it’s ok, you'll learn to accept it gracefully,” Shantell said without missing a beat as Candy screamed in frustration, storming out of the room with Jey following closely behind her.
Oh, yeah Shantell is definitely a different breed. I like that for my brother, he needs someone who will go to war for themselves and the people they love. I think I just gained a new sister.
“Shantell, that’s it, let’s go cool off outside,” Joe said leading Shantell out on the patio as Jimmy and Trin looked on in shock.  “Let’s go! You’ve done enough,” I heard Jey say ushering Candy out the door.
“What the hell just happened?” Trin asked as Sofia refilled her glass completely unfazed by the commotion.
“Candy almost got her ass whooped, what else is new,” Sofia said as Jimmy laughed.
“Aye, Shantell ain’t scary now, she did that shit in a nice nasty way without being all hysterical like Candy was and she meant what she said,” Jimmy said nodding his head in approval.
“I just don’t want her fighting or getting hurt. She just had surgery and Candy ain’t worth a setback,” Trin said as Sofia sighed.
“Sis, Shan ain’t no punk, she needed to let Candy know that she wasn’t gon’ run over her. She did the right thing to let that ho know she ain’t scared,” Sofia said as Jimmy and I nodded in agreement.
“Joe had her baby, she wasn’t gon' get hurt Trin,” Jimmy said leaning over, kissing Trin on her cheek.  “I’ll just be glad when she’s outta this family,” Trin whispered as Sofia smiled at her softly.
“It'll be over soon, then we can work on getting Jey and Shantell together,” Sofia said as Trin smiled. “Girl, you see it too,” Trin said as I laughed at them.
“Man, ya’ll let nature take its course, it doesn’t need your help. They will get together when the time is right, Uce got to get himself together because he ain’t ready for a real one like Shantell right now,” I said going back to eat my food.
I knew it probably was the wrong thing to say but I knew I was right. When this divorce is final Jey gon’ wild out and enjoy himself.
He’s been tied down for almost six years with Candy. A relationship is the last thing he needs right now.
Now when he calms down and knows for sure what he wants, him and Shantell would be good for each other, just not right now.
That would be setting Shantell up to get hurt and I know none of us including Jey want that to happen.
Joe’s POV
“Are you calm now?” I asked holding her in my arms. “Joe, I was good in there,” Shantell said as we swayed to the music we could hear in the distance from one of my neighbor's yards.
“Uce got two women fighting over him and I can’t even find the right one,” I said laughing as Shantell frowned. “First off I wasn’t fighting over Jey, I was defending us and two where is Trina, you still with her right?” Shantell asked as I nodded.
“Yeah, we still kicking it, she’s just been awol since I told her about the leukemia,” I said as Shantell seemed to be in deep thought. “Tell me what you are thinking," I said as she sighed.
“Joe, if she can’t be here for you when you need her why are you together?" Shantell asked and I really didn’t have an answer, but I knew she was right.
“I’m trying to figure shit out,” I said as Shantell dropped the subject as we continued to dance.
Jey’s POV
"Just leave Candy!" I hissed as she rolled down her window. "You will be hearing from my lawyer," she said as I threw my hands up in frustration. “Bye Candy,” I said walking away, heading toward Joe’s backyard. I needed to apologize to him and Shantell.
“What the hell is this,” I muttered looking at them slow dancing feeling my anger rising by the second.
“Hey, you just lean on me, I got you,” Shantell whispered as Joe nodded pulling her closer as they danced. “You just don’t know how much that means to me sis,” he said his voice full of emotion.
“Stop trying to be strong by yourself, you ain't alone in this. We’re all going to be there with you every step of the way, and you gon' beat this,” Shantell said reassuring him as I heard him sniff.
Fuck I felt like shit for even thinking some of the thoughts I had been thinking lately.
“You ready to go back in?” Joe asked wiping his tears as Shantell took a deep breath rubbing her stomach. “Lead the way big brother, I’m starving,” she said smiling as he put his arm around her, and they walked quietly back inside joining everyone else.
I had to be honest with myself I had let Candy get in my head and entertained her bullshit. Well, that stops today, it was truly time to move on and start fresh.
Pulling out my phone, I shot my relator a text that I wanted to check out the beachfront property she had found a few weeks ago if it was still available.
I needed to start over and leave the toxic shit behind…And that was exactly what I was going to do even if my mother didn’t like it because I gotta live….Live my life for me, no matter who didn’t like it.

Here's a part 2: hope you keep enjoying these!
....
I glance between Barclay and Sheriff Lucas, disbelieving.
"You want me to come into town with you for some questioning?"
I mean, I just dropped her off at the town sign. What could've possibly happened between there and her house?
"Yes. I will be going there with you." Barclay stands and I follow.
I ignore the stares, and I get in the squad car with the two adults.
On one hand, it's awesome that I've been arrested on my first day of school. Great Uncle Victor is going to be so proud.
I watch the trees fly, and I squirm. Bad news if mom or mother finds out, they're is totally gonna freak.
Ugh. I rub my temples, I'm sure Grandpa can calm them down. I won't be the first Addams in these cells, and I probably won't be the last.
I startle as Walker suddenly opens the door, and I briefly glance as the normies walking the street stare.
I go into the station and laugh as a son is getting berated by his mom in Spanish as she pulls his ear.
"This room, please." I walk in, and I look at two other adults in the room. One woman with dark skin with a pixie cut silently cries into a red-haired male as he tries to comfort her. His eyes narrow in distrust, and I sit in the chair next to them. Barclay stands behind me.
"Miss Addams is the Nevermore student who last saw Elosie. If you won't mind. I'd like you two to wait outside while the paperwork gets finished getting written up.
They quietly leave.
"I'll need a lawyer if I'm getting arrested." I tell him calmly. I think I remember Thing's numbers.
Barclay sighs heavily, "You're not getting arrest. He just needs a witness statement."
"Then, why do I have to do it here?" I ask. I stare out of the door as the locals try to get a peak inside of the disorganized office.
"It's custom to get brought down. Plus, I want the folks to get more used to..."
"The supernatural?"
Walker clears his throat, "The gifted."
I snort, "Yeah, whatever. You make us seem like the Xmen."
Barclay's corrects, "Behave Addams."
Sheriff gets his pen out and paper, "Okay, tell me exactly what happened."
I tell him my tale. As his pen scrawls against the parchment, I look around to the different articles hung up on the wall.
I pause as I see the one about the murders from almost 20 years ago. A hiker is missing. A homeless person ripped to shreds. I blink as I realize how much of the story they don't know. How much my family did, and the town doesn't even realize it.
A great mystery solved. A lasting impression in Nevermore history and this towns history.
I want to do that too. Solve mysteries.
"Are you sure that's it?" He asks for the fifteenth time. I feel my eye twitch. I literally have been repeating myself. It's annoying.
I stand up and slam my hands down onthe desk, "I've already said it! I took her to the town sign! That's it!"
"Miss Addams!" Barclay barks, "Control yourself." She darts her eyes down, and I realize sheepishly that my black nails were black claws.
My ears flick down as I put them in my pockets. I lean against the chair.
"I swear to you that I took her to the town sign, and then we parted ways."
Sheriff Lucas sighs, "That's it? Can you give a time?"
I shrug, "I dunno, maybe between 2 to 3 am? Why shouldn't you know this? Like time of death, etc?"
He sighs, "The Johnsons's called me this morning worried because she went out late to a party. I know, Nevermore typically does a freshman bash on the night before. So, we weren't sure if it was a townie party she was attending since she was typically a shy girl herself."
"An outcast. You mean." I squint my eyes in irritation. Where are they going with this? Shouldn't they know?
Unless, I rock on my feet. I bite my lip, pondering the strange behavior of the two.
He coughs, "Uh, yes. But she never got home."
"We have it on account that some other students say you were the last one with her." Barclay interjects.
I roll my eyes, "Again, just dropped her off."
"Did anything seem off to you?" Lucas asks.
I shake my head, no.
He pulls out his phone and goes, "I need you to confirm that this is what she was wearing on that night."
I look over, and my eyes widen at the green bomber jacket that is covered in blood and had angry slashes through it. I look up.
"Yeah, that's it. Why are you asking about a jacket?"
"That's enough, Miss Addams. Thank you for your time, Sheirff. We'll be going now." Barclay stands and tries to gently coast me to the door. I drag my heels and turn around.
"What's going on? Why don't you have a body? Why did you have that jacket? Where did you find it?" I fire off questions.
"ENOUGH." Barclay sings and like a command my body stands up straight and my lips get magically locked together. I stare and feel my own eyes glow as Barclay sighs and she pinches her nose.
I suddenly feel the spell let go of my body, and I have to prevent a snarl from escaping my lips.
"Vega, Mr. Lucas has just lost his niece please show more restraint."
I look over, and the man plays with the pen on his desk. He looks so defeated. If they don't know what happened....
I take a deep breath and rip the door open. It slams against the wall and everyone startles.
I walk up to the Johnsons.
"I am sorry of your predicament. I swear to you, I'll help you find Elosie, and I won't rest until we have answers."
thank you so much for even doing a follow up! this is all so cool

Glass Houses: Jack Thurlow x Y/N Series CH 06 -> CH 07
"Can I trust you to not kill my mom's dog?" "Yes?" "I hate how that sounded coming out of your mouth."
Tagging: @roryculkinluvr @thatsthewrongwallcraig @icarus-star @cc-luvr @madamemaximoff06 @shady-the-simp @quicksilversg1rl @s-0lar
Jack spent another day trying to balance between cleaning out another room, taking writing breaks and chain smoking cigarettes. He managed to skip napping throughout the day so sleeping wouldn't be such a chore once the sun went down but now that he was finally showered, reheated pizza in his belly, he was ready to curl up with his laptop and work on some more of his book. He sat down on his bed, laptop in his lap ready to write when he was startled by pounding on the door downstairs.
"Jack! Jack are you home?!" Jack could tell it was Y/N and tossed his laptop onto the bed, running down the stairs and flinging the door open. Y/n looked panicked, like she had been crying and was clutching Ace.
"Hey! Are you okay?" Jack looked her over to see if she was hurt anywhere but she looked to be in a long shirt like pajamas and flip flops.
"C-can you please watch Ace? Mom took a fall and I have to get her to the hosptial." Jack opened the door wider seeing how upset she was. Usually he wouldn't bother entertaining anyone else's distress at such a late hour unless they were Shanda but he remembered what Dr. Carty had suggested and wouldn't mind adding Y/n to the short list of people he called friend.
"Yeah of course. Is she okay? Do you need anything?" Jack could tell that Ace was concerned by his furrowed brows and his helpless look as he stared between him and Y/n. Rusty had a way of knowing whenever Jack was upset too. Dogs had a way of sensing those sort of things.
"She's sitting up but she's not really communicating so the ambulance is on the way. I just didn't want him to be left alone in case they decide to keep her for observation. I would have called but I realized we haven't actually exchanged numbers yet." Y/n took a deep breath and Jack could hear sirens in the distance.
"I don't have any problem taking him. Just let me know when to bring him back." She handed Ace over to Jack who put him on the floor and let him roam around. He immediately walked to the bottom of the stairs like he was ready to be carried upstairs to Jack's room.
"Can I trust you to not kill my mom's dog?" Jack looked confused by the sudden question.
"Yes?" He answered watching Y/n let out a stressed laugh.
"I hate how that sounded coming out of your mouth." Jack remembered he had told Y/N he had killed his dog last time they spoke and she assumed he was joking. I guess his lack of dog made her question the joke.
"I'm not sure what I can say to make you trust me. I mean I'm still a complete stranger to you but I do like having Ace around if that helps you feel better about leaving him. I can promise you that my friend Shanda removed all the sharp objects in the house before she flew back home and I'm too heavily medicated to get enough energy to do any harm with my hands." Jack shrugged holding his hands up. He didn't want to come across threatening in any way and risk losing the opportunity to hang out with Ace. He also kind of wanted Y/N to trust him.
"Well just know that if the moment hits and you feel like murdering him, I have specific knowledge on how to paralyze someone without it leaving any sort of trace. I will also torture you...slowly." Y/n pointed and Jack cracked a smile.
"You never know, I could be into that sort of thing." Jack teased. Y/n surprisingly returned the smile.
"Thank you for this. Seriously, you're a lifesaver right now. Here is my cell number. I'm not sure what time they might release her but I will try not to text too late." Y/n handed Jack a slip of paper with her phone number on it and he pocketed it.
"I don't sleep much so don't worry about texting late. I'll always answer." Jack tried to reassure her. The ambulance was coming around the bend and parked in front of her house.
"It's going to be okay. I got him. You just take care of your mom." Jack offered and Y/N gave him another long look before throwing her arms around his neck giving him a tight hug.
"Thank you Jack." Jack didn't have time to hug her back but he did realize that no one other than Shanda had hugged him in a long time. She released him and ran towards the house waving her arms. Jack watched as they loaded her mom up in the ambulance and take off down the road.
Jack shut the door and locked it up before grabbing Ace up from the front of the steps and carrying him up to his room. Ace took his spot on his bed and curled up. Jack sat back down on the bed, making sure to add the number to his cellphone in case she tried to call later, he didn't want to miss it.
As soon as he closed the contact, he was alerted to a new profile on social media that "You might know..." Out of curiosity, Jack opened his Instagram account to see who it might be and Y/N popped up. He opened her profile and immediately started cyber stalking her profile. It always baffled him when people had open profiles. There are far too many scammers and weirdos in the world to put your entirely life on the internet and not have it privatized. Not that anything on the internet is secure but Jack didn't spend too much time thinking about it as he ran across some boudoir photos that made his chest grow hot. The caption read: "Felt sexy, might make you horny later."
Jack glanced over towards Ace who was staring at him through the hair covering his eyes. He would have to continue his cyber stalking at a later date without the eyes of judgement boring holes into him.

Gonna Be Alright - Sim Jaeyun
Genre: slight angst + fluff
Warnings: fem!reader, idol!jake (?), exes to lovers, mention of bad relationship with parents, reader has a sister, reader has depression and anxiety but it's not mentioned straight up, clearly jake did not want to break up
Author’s Note: idk why but i'm obsessed with the exes to lovers or exes to potential lovers trope with jake?? if anyone knows any good one shots with that trope lmk👀
Y/S/N = your sister's name
(gif not mine!)
Tumblr media
"C'mon pick up..." Jake chewed his lip nervously as the call went to voicemail again, immediately ending it and redialing it. His heartbeat was getting faster with every missed call he was leaving and he couldn't stop bouncing his knee up and down. After the 6th time he heard the voicemail box, Jake threw his back onto the bed, throwing his phone next to him groaning. "Why isn't she picking up!"
Jake knew he should've expect you to not pick up his call. After all you hadn't picked up any of his calls in the last month after the breakup. In that month he hadn't spam called you 6 times at once, sure, but he knew you needed him today and it was all thanks to your sister.
The members had gotten home a while ago; everyone showered and was well fed. 10pm, still quite early for Jake, he decided to lay down in his bed and scroll through We Verse, responding to ENGENES. He was having a good time when all of a sudden he got a phone call from your sister. He furrowed his eyebrows and immediately sat up. Your sister very rarely called Jake, even during your relationship so he knew it had to be important.
Before the call could end, he picked it up. "Hey (Y/S/N), it's been a while how are you?"
"Hi Jake," she answered. "Yeah I'm good. Are you busy?"
"No no, what's up?"
"It's my sister."
Jake felt an immense feeling of worry and concern overtake him. "Y/N? What's wrong with her is she okay?"
"Well I don't know.. actually my parents and I were on a video call with her and.. well, you know how our dad is.. he started berating her and insulting her and our mom was obviously no help.. they just made her feel really bad. And she was trying to not show it but I'm her sister, I just know."
Jake sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "Fuck.. then what happened?"
"She just sat there and took it... but after the call ended she's not picking up anymore. And I don't know if you know but uh.. after your break up she's just been really sad.. so.. because of past issues I'm worried you know."
"Y-yeah I know... I uh, haven't spoken to her since we broke up actually.."
"Oh shit... well I'm sorry for putting you in an awkward position... I don't have any of her friends numbers. And since we don't live in Korea I'm worried about her."
"I got it (Y/S/N). Don't worry, I'm gonna check on her."
Now Jake was sitting up again, frustratedly running his hand through his hair, completely messing it up. "I gotta go to her," he mumbled. Immediately he got up and threw on a hoodie on top of his shirt and pajama pants, grabbing his phone, wallet, and the spare key to her apartment (that he could not get himself to give back.. not that she asked for it back). Before heading to the front door, he decided to knock on Heeseung's door before opening it slightly. "Hyung, I'm going to Y/N's."
Heeseung looked up from his PC in shock. "Y/N's? You guys got back together?"
Jake gave him a defeated shake of his head. "No... she had a phone call with her parents.. I- I think she needs me right now." After a small pep talk from his Hyung, Jake walked to his ex girlfriend's apartment while still trying her cell. Once he got to the apartment he rang the doorbell once and knocked on the door a couple times, but once it went unanswered he used his spare key to let himself in.
"Y/N!" he called out as to not startle her. "It's Jake.. where are you?"
He heard feet padding upstairs and you appeared at the top of the stairs from your room. "Jake? What are you doing here?"
Jake visibly relaxed; seeing you after what felt like forever, his heart was jumping out of his chest.
"Hello? Jake?"
He didn't realize he zoned out, quickly clearing his throat to save himself from embarrassment. "Oh, uhm, hey.. I just wanted to check on you..?"
You gave him a confused look, hoping he wouldn't see how bloodshot your eyes were or how red your nose was. "Check on me? F-for what?"
"Uh... (Y/S/N) called me earlier.."
Your face contorted into one of realization. You walked down the stairs to get closer to Jake, still remembering to keep a distance. "Ah.. I didn't think she'd call you.. sorry Jake. As you can see I'm fine so.. y-you can go.. if you want."
"Y/N..." he called out, walking two steps closer to you. God, how badly he wanted to just wrap you in his arms... "You know we can still be friends, right? I can still be there for you whenever. You don't have to push me away completely."
Hearing his reassuring words, tears started pooling at your eyes and your lips broke into a quiver, a pout forming on your lips. "J-Jake...."
Jake's heart broke seeing you trying to hold it in. Should I do it? Is it too awkward? "You know what, fuck it." Immediately Jake pulled you into his arms, wrapping them every so tightly around you as you grabbed him and started sobbing. He tried soothing you by stroking your hair as the other hand rubbed your back. "It's okay baby... I'm here."
"I-I don't know what else to do Jake!" you sobbed. I thought.. being away from them would help our relationship grow stronger, b-but every time we talk it's just.. i-it's too much!"
Jake sighed. "I know, I know.. here, why don't we sit down hmm?"
You nodded and allowed Jake to guide you to the couch. He sat down first and then pulled you into his lap sideways, cradling you like a baby as you buried your head into his chest. He had one hand resting on your waist while the other one attempted to soothe you by continuously rubbing your back. His attempt worked as your crying came to a stop, but neither of you dared move from the familiar position. You stayed that way, basking in the comfortable silence for a while.
"Thank you Jake," you said as you came up from hiding in his chest. You gave him a sad smile as you looked at him endearingly. "Thank you for always being here."
He hated seeing your tear stroked face so he wiped them off and returned the smile. "Always Y/N.. always... Why didn't you call me if you were feeling this bad?"
"I... we broke up Jake.. I didn't think it was appropriate.. didn't think you'd wanna see me."
He looked at you as if you were crazy. "Are you serious? Me? Not wanting to see you? You're joking right?" When you didn't answer he realized you were actually being serious. "Y/N.. you broke up with me; I still want to be a part of your life, you're just not letting me. If you need me you have to call me. I always was, and always will be, one call away..."
You nodded. "I-I know that, I know that y-you still love me.."
"Mhm." He cupped your cheek caressing it. "I do."
Tears swelled up in your eyes again and you pouted. "I hurt you a lot by ending our relationship didn't I?"
Jake smiled and shook his head. "You could never hurt me. I know you still love me too, and you broke up with me because you didn't feel deserving of me. In fact I'm mad at myself, since I couldn't make you feel just how much you mean to me."
"No Jake don't do that, don't blame yourself. My brain.. sometimes it just gets too much and I can't stop overthinking."
"I know my love."
The nickname had you staring up at him with wide eyes, debating whether or not you should say what's on the tip of your tongue right now. But you knew, you knew damn well that if you didn't say anything now you might lose him a 2nd time. "Jake."
"Hmm?"
"Stay with me tonight?"
His eyes brightened and he had a hopeful look on his face. "A-are you sure?" You nodded but he still wasn't sure. "Y/N... understand that if I stay with you tonight.. I refuse to stay exes with you."
You slowly nodded. "I understand Jake.. I-I hope you don't think I'm playing you but–"
"I know you never could. Continue?"
"... But, I-I think I wanna get back together."
By now you were fully sat up in his lap as he stroked your sides. Jake raised an eyebrow at you. "You think?" he teased.
"N-no! I know! I know I want to get back together with you."
Jake chuckled as he softly kissed your cheek, relishing in the physical contact he so deeply missed. "I do too baby.. didn't wanna leave you in the first place."
"I-I'm sorry Jake.."
"S'alright, as long as you promise to never break up with me again, we're gonna be alright."

An unexpected phone call (Part 1)
Hello!!! ^^ This story may be a little heavy and sad for some readers because it involves issues such as abandonment and family problems. Some of these things are actually things that my mother has said to me, so this is a bit of a… real event (I am okay now!).
But I hope you like my fic!!! It's the first time I've posted a story like this!!! If you find any grammatical mistakes I apologize!!! I'm doing my best since English isn't my first language.
Characters used:
The intellect trio (Burt, Sven and Pollo) are characters from THSC but from the version of @capturecharlesau and Danny (mentioned) also belongs to her
Brutus belongs to @smoresthehalloweenqueen
Tumblr media
A phone rang in the middle of the experiments that Burt and Pollo were doing with Brutus. They were in the clan laboratory, Pollo, Burt and Sven were always there working and building things as usual for the Toppats. It's as if they grew up there, at least that's how it was for Pollo. The laboratory is very large with many boxes and machines spread around, other members of the clan also use the place sometimes but the trio were the ones who were there the most. Brutus is sitting on a stretcher while Pollo and Burt were doing some scientific experiments with him, studying and analyzing, this was a normal thing for them.
Obviously at this point in the tests they wouldn't want to be disturbed, but the phone kept ringing, it was Pollo's phone.
Someone calling him at that moment? Why?
"Can you see who's calling, Brutus? I have to put some stuff away" Pollo said as he put some medical equipment and chemical flasks away with Burt. Brutus got up to get the cell phone and check who it might be; there were three missed calls from an unknown number. Pollo and Burt seemed visibly annoyed that they had to stop the tests.
"Damn... We were almost at the best part" said Burt, putting the scalpel away.
After Brutus has analyzed a bit, he picks up the phone, expecting it to be someone selling something and that he could just ignore it later.
A desperate but serious female voice spoke on the other side of the phone, she had an accent, it seems that English is not her first language, but she made a great effort to speak in English.
"Hello, could I speak to someone called Pollo Miller?"
Brutus was visibly confused, someone wanting to talk to his cousin. It didn't sound like anyone he knew, there was something wrong. "Primo... someone wants to talk to you" he said as he handed the cell phone to his cousin, without questioning anything.
The young scientist didn't seem interested in whatever this call was about, at least his face didn't show any emotion as usual. He picked up his cell phone and spoke in the same disinterested and unconcerned tone as always.
"Hello?" Pollo said into the phone, waiting for an answer.
"Pollo my dear... Is that you?" The female voice spoke with a sad and desperate tone.
"Who is this?"
"Pollo, it's me. Your mother, your... Your father is dying"
Time stopped for Pollo.
Pollo had expected anything but that, there was no way it could be true, he didn't want to believe it was her. The only thing Pollo could do in this moment of shock was whisper to himself, "M-mom...?", enough for Brutus at least to understand the situation and he looks at the scientist with concern, it seems to have come as a shock to his cousin. He, who had always known exactly what to do and was in control of everything in any situation... Now he knew nothing at all. It's VERY rare to see Pollo in this state.
After so long... After saying the worst things to him; "You're not my son anymore and I'm no longer your mother" and kicking him out of the house just because he wanted to follow his dream career of becoming a famous scientist; "Do you really want to help other people first rather than your own family?! Don't you like us too?! Why do you have to be so unfair to us?!". She put him as a traitor to his family and didn't even try to look for him when he was kidnapped by Terrence. She called him "Ungrateful" or "Insensitive" when he wanted to live his own life, and was NEVER satisfied with what he did... She was too proud to admit she was wrong. He hadn't seen or spoken to her for years because he'd been thrown out of the house.
She came back... and seemed desperate for help.
"Pollo? Who is it? Are you alright?" Burt asked with a confused but also worried expression, why his friend seemed so shocked so suddenly? He wasn't saying anything. Pollo stayed quiet until he snapped out of his thoughts and spoke quickly to Brutus and Burt. "I'll be right back, I need a moment."
He said, quickly leaving with his cell phone to an empty room with no one around, so that no one would be able to hear his conversation.
Brutus and Burt look at each other, both agreeing that something odd has just happened. Better stop the experiments for today.
----------------------------------------------------------
40 minutes of Pollo's cell phone conversation with his mother.
Brutus outside the room didn't dare interfere or listen to any part of the conversation. He knew it was too personal for Pollo... The scientist left the room visibly devastated, looking angry but also very... Sad, he'd heard things he didn't want to hear. And it looked like he was going somewhere, he put his cell phone in his pocket and walked past his cousin as if he hadn't even seen him there, he didn't want to care or see anything around him, and he picked up the teleporter on the table and put some coordinates into the device.
Brutus hurried over to him, wanting to know what had happened, coming up behind him and grabbing Pollo's shoulder. "Primo? Where are you going? Why did your mother call...?"
He asked, expecting Pollo to give him a straight answer.
But Pollo immediately pulls away and pushes Brutus's arm, looking as if he almost wants to cry and trying to control it. Pollo obviously wants to feel in control of the situation, even when he's not. Emotions have always been a problem for him, he's never known how to control them and it makes him panic. He grew up like that... not speaking about what he was feeling. He takes a deep breath, not wanting to tell the truth. "Nothing happened... I'm going out for a while to take care of an unfinished business about my past..."; He said as he typed a few things into the device, in a rough and frustrated voice.
"But alone?!"
"Yes, it's none of your business, and PLEASE... Just please... Don't tell Danny where I'm going, I don't want him to worry about me for anything... I don't want him to know that I'm going to see my biological mother because I don't want to see him be devastated and think negative things...I just want to protect him from this headache...
don't you dare follow me... For once do what I ask for once. I don't want anyone to worry about me... there's nothing to worry about. I just... can't take it anymore."
He immediately clicks the button on the teleporter, and with a flash of green light, he suddenly disappears without even looking into Brutus' eyes.
