Chapter 4.
Hi guys and welcome back! I hope your enjoying this story so far!! Already on chapter 4! God it’s been rlly quick since I posted the first chapter. Speaking of the first chapter here’s the link to it in case you haven’t read it:
Chapter 1
Chapter 2
Chapter 3
TW for chapter 4-
stealing
Swearing
Self doubt
Hights
Climbing
Sleeping
Screaming
Nightmares
Food
Locking yourself in a small room
Starving
Death
Hugging
It is literally just the word being mentioned but I’m giving the warning in case it is like really triggering for some people. Enjoy the chapter. Ciao bitches.
We got back home and I had a wardrobe full of new clothes and paint. I also had some got some fake plants and other things to add to my room. I wasn’t going to use much of it. I liked the plants and decided to name the fern Roderick (If you know I love you). I had stolen some spray paints without anyone noticing, I had walked out at the exact time as someone else to make it look like they had stole something when the alarm went of. I had done things like that before but I don’t normally steal from actual shops. I didn’t bother painting the white walls I just got my spray paint and started spraying it on the walls. Once I had done I had a massive green dragon in the wall and other doodles on the other, I was very proud of it. I had been spray painting since I was very young and I had a black mask with a bit of spray paint on it, I had wore it while painting as I didn’t want to inhale the fumes. I sat on the bed I had and chilled, I had hidden my spray paints so I couldn’t get them taken off me. I wanted to speak to Ranboo again but I didn’t want to bother him and he probably already thought I was very annoying. There wasn’t much I could do, I didn’t own a phone or any devices, I had forgotten to buy scetch books, I did have a couple of books that where in the closet when I first came here but I had no idea how to read. Suddenly there was a knock on the door. The person walked in without waiting for an answer.
“What?” I snapped, I didn’t need people talking to me unless it was Ranboo.
“Hello to you too.” The woman said quietly.
“Who the fuck are you?” I demanded
“I’m Niki, I work here.” She explained politely, suddenly I kinda felt bad, I knew I shouldn’t have snapped at her but I wasn’t going to apologise
“”Oh h-hi. I’m Y/n” I said
“I know, I just wanted to introduce myself and say if you need anything to just ask. Don’t worry if you get lost, it’s a pretty big house, just ask anyone for directions, they’ve all been in the same situation as you so no one’s going to judge you.” She smiled at me
“Thank you.” I said gratefully.
She was about to walk out then she saw all my spray painted walls. Her eyes widened but she didn’t say anything. I went back to lying on the bed. I hated being there, I felt trapped. I just wanted to get out, feel the rain on my face and the breeze in my hair. I sighed. I got up of the bed and walked to the window. It wasn’t massive but it was big enough to climb out of. Maybe if I wanted to escape. Then I decided it wouldn’t be bad if I went for a little stroll, a walk maybe? I left all my stuff in the room and climbed out of the window. I hung off the window sill and looked round, there was an unstable looking drain pipe I could climb down, I decided to go for it and I slid down it. To my suprise it stayed firmly connected to the wall. I hopped of and saw a boy, he had brown hair and brown eyes, he was wearing jumper with bees on. He kinda stared at me.
“The fuck do you want?” I snapped
“I want to know where the fuck you’re going.” He said
“Well why don’t you mind your own business Bee Boi.” I sneered.
He laughed and I joined in. His laughter was sweet and infectious.
“Oh well, just be safe. I can tell your not running away, the amount of people I’ve seen try it not hard to figure out. Make sure your back in an hour because then they start looking for you and then they call the police and that’s where it gets hard to get out of.” He explained to me
“Thank you so much.” I smiled at him.
He smiled back at me and then j started walking down the street. He seemed nice. I wondered if he knew Ranboo. I had no plan of where to go and I’d never been around here before so I wasn’t sure where to go. I found this park and walked into it. It had a lake in it and a play area for children. I started walking round the lake, I found this shady area a way off the path which had a big tree. I climbed up the tree and I found a platform, really large. I could see the lake from up there and the sunset was reflecting off it. It was so pretty. I lay down from a bit and drifted off to sleep. I woke up and the sun was pretty much almost set. I went to look down at my rust then realised I didn’t own a watch. Shit. I had no concept of time and no idea how long I had been out. I almost fell down the tree trying to climb quickly. I got to the ground and started sprinting back the way I was sure I had came. I found the house and climbed up the drain. I had left my window open enough from me to get into. I quickly shut the window and collapsed onto the bed, exhausted from the running. I heard shouting from downstairs and it brought back memories of things I wanted to forget. Suddenly someone barged into my room. I jumped of the bed as a reflex, I fell onto the ground and I quickly stood back up.
“Jack!” I exclaimed
“WHERE THE HELL WHERE YOU?” He shouted.
That shocked me, a lot. I hated being shouted at, it was triggering. I grabbed the closest thing near me and threw it at him. I ran past him and found the bathroom. I ran in and locked it. I was surprised there was a lock on the door, I would have thought Niki and Jack would be more weary of the kids they had here. I sat down on the floor and breathed heavily. I wanted to cry but I wouldn’t do that, not today, not ever. There was a blurry window on the bathroom wall and I could see it was dark outside. I was super tired even though I had slept in the tree house. I found two towels in a cabinet I put one down at a pillow and put the other one over me as a blanket. That was the 2nd most comfiest sleep I had ever had in the life. I had bad nightmares, they were about my past, there was shouting, sometimes at me and sometimes at other things. I wasn’t sure how long I was asleep but I was awoken by a soft knock on the door. I looked at the window and it was light now, meaning I had been there all night.
“Y/n, open up.” Said Jack.
“FUCK OFF!” I shouted at him through the door.
“Y/n please, I’m sorry.” He tried
“ARE YOU FUCKING DEAF? FUCK OFF!” I screamed.
I heard footsteps walking away from the door and I sat there. I wasn’t going to give up but there wasn’t much I could do in the bathroom. The widow didn’t open and there wasn’t any food in here, I was super hungry as-well. I sat there and I could smell the smell of pancakes baking made downstairs for other kids, they were probably being made by Niki. I then heard another knock on the door.
“Hey Y/n, let us in please.” Someone begged.
“Who’s us?” I called.
“It’s Ranboo and Tubbo.” Ranboo’s voice said
“Tubbo?” I asked, I had no idea who Tubbo was.
“Bee Boi!” A sweet voice said, Tubbo’s.
“O-oh.” I stuttered
“Please let us in.” He asked.
“Is it just you guys?” I checked.
“Yeah.” Ranboo told me
“Promise?” I asked
“Promise.” Tubbo confirmed.
I keep towards the door and slowly unlocked it. I let them in and then quickly closed and locked the door again.
“Y/n, you know you can’t stay in here forever, right?” Ranboo asked me nicely
“And why not?” I demanded stubbornly
“Your going to starve to death.” Tubbo said
“Good.” I said quietly, they both looked at me with wide eyes.
Ranboo slowly approaches me by scooting across the floor, I felt his long arms rapping round my body in a comforting manner, he was warm and he felt safe. I hugged him back and tried so hard not to cry. Tubbo came towards us and hugged me aswell. I let out a slight giggle, I didn’t normally like physical contact but this was nice, comforting. We all pulled away but they sat closer to me this time. I put my head on Ranboos shoulder and held Tubbos hand. I hadn’t known either of them for very long but I felt like they were my brothers. It was probably because of my lack of human contact for the past 2 years. I hadn’t talked much until the past two days. I didn’t need to speak, people I stole from didn’t need to know I existed.
“Why are you in here anyway?” Ranboo asked
“Jack screamed at them? Did you not hear?” Tubbo explained
“No I kinda taught myself not to hear screaming.” Ranboo told us
“Oh, I kinda wished I had been able to do that.” I said
“Me too.” Tubbo agreed
“Y/n, what do you say we get out of here, get some snacks, then go watch a movie in my room?” Ranboo asked
“You have a laptop?” I replied
“Yeah!” He said
“I have this memory stick, im not sure what’s on it, could I plug it into your computer?” I asked him
“Yeah of course you can!” He agreed.
Tubbo and Ranboo got up and they both helped to pull me up. I giggled a bit and then we unlocked the door. They both held one of my hands each and we walked to Ranboo’s room which was just down the corridor and opposite them room I was staying in. I went in with them and Ranboo went to get snacks while me and Tubbo sat down.
We heard a knock on the door and found it weird, why would Ranboo knock on the door of his own room? I got up to answer and deeply regretted it when I saw who it was. I went to slam the door but it was caught by Jack.
“Y/n. I wanted to apologise for screaming. It didn’t just upset you it triggered multiple people in this house and I should have known better than to shout.” He apologised
“Wowwww. You’ve managed to figure out how much of a bitch you are.” I sarcastically gave him a round of applause.
“Language, Y/n. We don’t use those type of words in this house.” He told me sternly
“Oh whatever. Fuck off.” I rolled my eyes.
“Jack just give them time. It’s hard being in a new place.” Tubbo pleaded
“Ok Tubbo, you and Ranboo are incharge of Y/n. Don’t let them do anything bad or it’s your fault ok?” Jack said pointedly
“I don’t need looking after.” I complained “I’ve been on my own for two years.”
“Yes, I know. I believe that’s the problem.” He sighed
“Ok bye now!” I tried shutting the door but Jack held it open
“We need to talk about the walls of your room.” He told me
“Ok. Later.” I said trying to get rid of him.
He let out a sign in defeat and left. I breathed a sigh of relief. I hated being bugged like that, I hated people to be honest. I’d been able to talk to no one for over two years I didn’t want people to start annoying me now.

Tagged by @saikkunen. Thanks a lot, I like doing stuff like this and it’s been a while :3
What book are you currently reading? Brisingr (for those who’ve never heard of it, the third book in the series Eragon starts). I’ve read it few times before, but it’s been a while since I last did it. Still love the series. Also there’s Mariel of Redwall, with which I’ve been stuck for more than six months now. It is dangerous to re-read a book for a millionth of time when you remember that oh no, next is the part you don’t care about.
What’s your favorite movie you saw in theaters this year? I only went to see one movie in theaters in 2022 (yeah it’s already 2023, shut up), and it was Sonic 2. I did go see it 3 whopping times, so it’s pretty safe to say it’d be my favourite even if there were any others.
What do you usually wear? Uhhhh hoodies, fitting tank tops or t-shirts, loose pants. Colors vary, mostly black but there can be others.
How tall are you? 169cm.
What’s your Star Sign? Do you share a birthday with a celebrity or a historical event? Libra. I do not know, Trafalgar Law from One Piece is close enough to a celebrity for me.
Do you go by your name or nickname? I choose to think this refers to irl, so name. My dad is literally the only one to ever call me nicknames or pet names.
Did you grow up to become what you wanted to be when you were a child? I never really wanted to be anything but a tango queen when I was a kid, and that was when I was 4 or so. So, I guess ‘no idea’ came true.
Are you in a relationship? If not who is your crush if you have one? Nope. Also no crushes.
What’s something you’re good at vs something you’re bad at? Uhhh I guess I’m kinda good at drawing and writing? Maybe? Good is such a vague term. I do enjoy those, and I think that’s more important than being ‘’’good’‘‘ at things. I am bad at playing any instruments. Too many things you’re supposed to do simultaneously with your body.
Dogs or cats? Cats!!!! Dogs are also good, but cats make me more stupidly happy than any other creatures I’ve met.
If you draw/write, or create in any way, what’s your favorite picture/favorite line/favorite etc. from something you created this year? I have drawn some pretty good pictures this year, but I haven’t posted them online and I don’t feel like doing that now either. I do enjoy one undead wolf knight thingy I drew. I also like (still partly wip) doll’s bed I made a lot. I have written a lot, but isolating a single line is impossible.
What’s something you would like to create content for? Currently I’d like to doodle all of my favourite One Piece characters, but we’ll see when I’ll get to that. I have also been redrawing my oldest ocs with the same kids’ color pencils and other stuff as 20 years ago, and it’s been lots of fun. Overall I wanna work on my original projects more.
What’s something you’re currently obsessed with? Stardew Valley and Sonic Frontiers. Too bad I already completed the latter, I am waiting for the dlc’s to come. Also obsessed about my original projects.
What’s something you were excited about that turned out to be disappointing this year? Dissapointment is for those who do not know how to keep their expectations and excitement realistic. Jokes aside, I am honestly fairly good at being realistic about things I’m interested in, and it is a very rare occasion I am actually dissapointed about something I was excited for first, and it didn’t happen in 2022.
What’s a hidden talent of yours? It wouldn’t be hidden if I told you, would it. Tbh, I have no idea. Organizing material things maybe? Keep your timetables and whatnot away from me, but let me rearrange those messy drawers and closets of yours.
Are you religious? Nah. I am slightly spiritual pagan of my own brand though.
Whats something you wish to have at this moment? Does not-ill body and mind free of constant anxiety count? If not, then Freedom Planet 2 Switch port would be nice, but that won’t be out before next summer.
Tagging: Nah, don’t really feel like atm. If you wanna do this, consider yourself tagged.

A couple of weeks ago, my boyfriend and I were out running a few errands, and while we were out, I saw that someone was selling some golden doodle puppies. The whole idea was that we were just going to look and play with the cute puppies, but then I picked one up and he started loving on me, and that's when I knew I needed to take him home with me. My boyfriend and I split the cost of everything for the puppy, the kennel, the toys, the food and water dishes, everything.
I didn't tell my parents that we had bought a puppy, and I was just going to wait to tell them until they got back from camping, but I started to get extremely anxious about it, especially since the day before I told my mom about the puppy I had gotten into a car accident, so my anxiety was already pretty high. I ended up calling my mom two days after I got my puppy and told her about him. At first, she was pissed since we already had four other dogs at home. She told me she had wished I had talked to her about it first and so I told her that I wanted MY dog back.
What I mean by "I wanted MY dog back" is that I was finally ready for a dog to call my own after having to put my childhood dog down three days after Christmas in 2021. I was heartbroken, and less than two months after my dog had passed, my mom came home with a new puppy for herself. I was livid. She hadn't talked to me about if I was ready for a new dog in the house, or if I was okay that she was getting the dog for herself.
My mom ended up calling me back a few hours after I had told her about my new puppy, saying she understood why I did it, and that her dog kind of replaced my dog's spot after she had been put down. She understood that buying my puppy just sort of happened, since that's how we've gotten the rest of our dogs, including my dad's hunting dog. After that conversation, she wasn't as mad as she had been before, which I was grateful for.
The day after I told my mom about my puppy, I told her about the car accident. She surprisingly wasn't mad, which I was extremely happy about. She said it was my car, and since the damage on my car and the guy's car that I hit was so minimal, she didn't really get upset. She was just happy that I was okay and that the accident wasn't any worse. This was my first car accident.
The day they got back from camping, I was at work, my boyfriend was at my house with the puppy, and my parents met my pup. My mom thought he was the cutest thing in the world and was surprised that his fur wasn't as curly as it usually would be for a golden doodle. I explained to her that he's 3/4 golden retriever and 1/4 poodle, so his fur isn't going to be as curly as a golden doodle that was 1/2 and 1/2.
I ended up submitting a questionnaire to a website that would either approve or deny me being able to certify my pup as an emotional support animal for my anxiety and depression. I spent $97 for a state psychologist to look at my answers and determine if I was a candidate or not. I ended up being approved, and I got all the paperwork I would need emailed to me so I could print it out. I even got a certified emotional support animal vest for my pup. So far, everything has been going well. The past couple days have been kind of hard on me mentally, but my puppy has been helping. He's been keeping my mind off of things, and he's been acting more goofy than he usually does, which then makes me laugh and smile and think about all the good things that I have in my life.
There are so many things and people in my life that I'm extremely grateful for, but sometimes I still have a hard time believing in myself, and I'm constantly battling the feeling of being completely alone, even while I'm surrounded by all the people in my life. Some days are definitely harder than others, like today and yesterday. Part of me didn't want to get out of bed in the morning, I wanted to sleep all day and never wake up, but I forced myself to get up, however, I didn't change out of my pajamas. I thought about going to the gym yesterday, but I didn't have the motivation, and I ended up staying in bed. Tomorrow will be better. Tomorrow will always be better.

You cried in Philza’s arms for hours on end until you couldn’t cry anymore. Your head was left pounding and your throat scratchy from the loud crying, but you didn’t care. Nothing mattered anymore, without Arthur you were nothing. The past two and a half years just- just didn’t exist. Your mind was still reeling, the words ‘will you always be with me?’ echoing through your mind constantly filling you with guilt.
With one last shuddering inhale, you separated yourself from Philza and wiped at the tears that had long since dried on your face. His eyes, vigilant as ever, scanned your form looking for any sign of distress. In his eyes, you saw pity and grief. This angered you, you didn’t need his pity; you were long past the point of pitiful glances. Well, you were, he wasn’t.
You purse your lips as you watch his eyes flick between your wing and where your other wing was supposed to be. Sorrow flashes in his eyes before he looks back at you with a small, painfully fake smile. With one hand, he gently pushes your shoulder down back onto the bed and stands up.
“I’ll be back, you get some rest.”
With the slightest hint of a nod, you watched as he lingered in the doorway before hesitantly walking out of your room. After he left your room, you locked the door behind him. That door remained locked for weeks on end, every knock or attempt at conversation was never answered by you. Their words were nothing but background noise in the back of your mind.
Instead of responding, you would lay in bed staring at the ceiling with unfocused eyes thinking about nothing but everything you’ve lost. Only occasionally you would leave your room to attend to your most basic needs when you were sure that everybody was asleep or out of the house.
The days meshed together as your thoughts consume you in a whirlwind of unorganized messes. Several times, you’ve worked yourself into panic attacks and paranoia filled spiraling because you didn’t know what was real anymore.
Being left alone with your thoughts was something that you always avoided by constantly tinkering with contraptions, your thoughts wandered off to places that greatly disturbed you. But now, you let those thoughts wash over you without a care. Your dreams reflected this; they were plagued with images of Arthur looking up at you with large puppy dog eyes and a large smile before he would be sucked into darkness screaming for you to help him, to do anything, but you were always glued in place leaving you to watch helplessly as he left you over and over again.
Another common one you would have is Arthur getting lost in a bellowing snowstorm in the dead of night. You would be wandering through thick snow calling his name until you would come across a small, pale hand peeking out of an abnormal lump of snow; dread would always fill you during those dreams, it was a parent’s worst nightmare to lose their child.
Other dreams, though very rare, would be pleasant; whether they were about you and Arthur whistling a small tune as you both invented something or a small picnic on the cliff laughing freely into the air, you would always wake up in the mornings prepared to greet him and cook breakfast with him. It wasn’t until you moved your right arm and found that it had limited mobility that you realized that everything was a dream.
You hated those dreams, they always gave you a false sense of hope that everything was okay. Nothing is okay, absolutely nothing.
You refused to believe that… whatever was going on didn’t happen; Philza had said that the last few years had been fake, something that your mind had made up as some form of coping mechanism, but who’s to say that this isn’t a hallucination as well? Both your experiences felt completely different from each other, this reality could be the hallucination for all you knew.
The only thing on your mind was how you needed to get back to Arthur in any possible way you could. If Arthur didn’t exist in this reality, you didn’t want to be in it. You need him and he needs you, you didn’t want to imagine a reality without him. If you got yourself into this by dying, perhaps that was your ticket back to him. Perhaps there was a way to reverse this.
You were going to get your son back, and you were going to die trying.
Until then, you just have to wait out your family. They’d just stop you in the end and you couldn’t have that. You’d have to put on an act that you were perfectly fine and that would entail inventing everything over again, but you were fine with that; if you made it once, you can make it again.
With a newfound sense of purpose, you searched your closet for your old cloak but then you remembered you got your cloak weeks after your first death. Groaning to yourself, you settled for your old bomber jacket. The slits in the back of it wouldn’t cover your nub, so you awkwardly tucked it underneath the fabric of the cloth. It shot pain down your spine, but you shook it off; the pain was something you could handle, you’ve had worse.
Without another thought, you quietly left your room with only one destination in mind.
--------------------------------------------------
You softly padded down the basement stairs towards your workshop. When you arrived at the bottom of the stairs, you paused and looked around. The walls that were once covered with sloppy sketches and words written in two different handwritings, both equally as messy and rushed, were barren for the most part; you forgot that the walls were painted an off white color. Your filing cabinets were gone, replaced with cardboard boxes containing old clothes and toys with thick layers of dust sitting peacefully on top of them. The crafting table sat in the corner of the room wasn’t worn, in fact it looked brand new, not a scratch could be seen on the surface.
Everything was wrong.
You numbly walked over to your desk and picked up the paper that laid on it, holding it up to the light. It was the first draft to your TNT launcher. The sight of the crude, minimal sketches made you cringe, it was far too messy; you had no idea how you could make out what your sloppy handwriting pointed to or what materials were supposed to go where.
You dropped the paper and let it flutter to the floor without a care. Your eyes flickered over the desk and eyed the notebook sitting on top of a stack of spare papers. A spark of hope ignited inside of you, this was the notebook Arthur so often doodled in with different ideas of what could be invented.
You snatched it and flipped the front cover over with haste. A wide smile stretched your lips when you caught sight of the small handwriting that littered the page. It was yours, but you had given it to Arthur so that he could learn and copy from your early years. It was perfect for a blueprint template, neat and organized.
However as you flipped through the book, your smile dropped and the little hope that flared in your chest was snuffed out. You stared at the blank page as frustration built up inside of you. Before you knew it, you threw the notebook at the opposite wall as hard as you could. You were left standing in the middle of the cold basement with your chest heaving and your teeth gritted.
Everything was so wrong. So, so wrong.
You heard footsteps thunder down the stairs before they came to a stop behind you. Hesitant footsteps made their way over to you, you didn’t even have to turn around to know who it was.
“(Y/n)? Is everything-”
“Nothing is okay, Tommy,” you gritted out, “absolutely nothing about this is okay.”
He said nothing as he walked around you and put his hand on your clenched fist, his fingers curling around yours and opening your hand. Your palm stung slightly as you glanced down at it. Four small, crescent shaped cuts were imprinted on your skin slowly starting to glisten with blood.
Huffing, you ripped your hand out of his grasp and glanced at his face. You caught yourself doing a double take as you saw just how innocent he looked. No sign of hidden pain in his shining blue eyes, no scars littering his skin, and the bags that once made him look years older was nonexistent. He was your annoying, gremlin of a little brother again. He was Tommy again.
You watched as his eyebrows furrowed and his head tilted slightly, “why are you looking at me like that?”
“No reason,” you breathed out before you shook your head trying to rid your mind of your frustrations, “no reason at all…”
He awkwardly coughed and nodded slightly, “right…”
You cleared your throat and glanced off to the side at the book laying on the floor. Tommy’s eyes followed where you were looking and went to pick it up. You felt a twinge in your heart as he started to flip through it much like you did earlier. He looked up at you with furrowed brows, “why’d you throw this? What’d the book do to you?” He jokingly asked you.
“It didn’t do anything and that’s the problem,” you mumbled out before you snatched the book out of his hands and tossed it into the trash can.
“Why are you acting so weird? I know you just died and all, but you never let that notebook out of your sight and now you’re just tossing it into the bin!” Tommy fished it out of the trash can and haphazardly placed it back onto your desk on top of the stack of unused paper. You could feel your eye twitch at it’s placement before you threw it away again.
“Leave it there, I don’t want it. I won’t need it anymore anyways,” you murmured under your breath.
“Why wouldn’t you need it- wait, don’t tell me you’re quitting working with redstone. Cuz I’ll have you know that you’re going to be the best goddamned inventor this gods forsaken world has ever known and-”
“I’m not going to quit,” you interrupted him, “trust me, I’ll need whatever I can make. I just… don’t need it anymore, I already know exactly what I need to make.” I can’t stand the sight of Arthur’s notebook so empty and blank your mind supplied yourself.
He tilted his head slightly, “even without the bluepri-”
“Even without the blueprints,” you curtly nodded and automatically turned to look at the bulletin board hanging above your desk only to sigh when you once again saw that it was barren. “I made these things thousands of times before, I know what I’m doing,” your gaze zeroed in on the half finished blueprint for your automatic crossbow, “I’ll just make them again.”
Tommy once again looked at you with furrowed brows and inquisitive eyes, you could just see the curiosity and confusion swimming around in his baby blue orbs, “what do you mean, you literally only have one prototype of everything on here.”
“You wouldn’t believe me even if I told you, so just drop it.” You hadn’t meant to snap at him like that, but the frustration was just too overwhelming to ignore. Just as you could see him start to get dejected from the corner of your eye, you made quick work of changing the subject.
“You know, I could hear what you said when I wasn’t awake. I really appreciated the music, it was a nice change of pace.”
He tensed before his eyes were drawn to the empty space over your shoulder. His breath hitched slightly as a sorrowful look appeared in his eyes. Looking back at you, he grabbed your shoulder and pulled you into a tight hug. You didn’t struggle against him despite your frustrations, you knew he needed you right now. You could still remember how broken he was when you were unconscious. The way his lip wobbled slightly before he hugged you reminded you of Arthur.
You gently hugged him back and wrapped your wing around him. He gripped you tighter, his breath shuddering as wetness started to hit your head. You said nothing as you started to hum and run your fingers along his back tracing out patterns without a particular one in mind.
Eventually, he pulled away from you and chuckled sardonically, wiping his tears away with a fist, “you’re the one who died and I’m the one being comforted. Gods, it’s pathetic.”
“It’s okay to feel emotions, Tommy. You should never bottle them up, it sounded like you needed a good hug anyways. I’m happy to give you that,” you softly told him.
He said nothing as he crossed his arms and shifted on his feet, avoiding your gaze. For a moment, your tall brother was replaced by a short, red haired boy wearing that same expression. You purse your lips in thought, your previous frustrations completely gone and replaced with an urge to comfort him or at least distract him. Though a deep sadness dragged your body down at the thought of Arthur, Tommy just reminded you too much of him. It was eerily uncanny in your opinion.
Ideas swarmed your head as you thought back to how you comforted Arthur when he fell down. Besides talking to him, you would always teach him something; knowledge to Arthur is- was like a sponge absorbing water. It gave him a distraction to whatever got him down, maybe that would work for Tommy as well.
Wordlessly, you walked over to your desk and gestured for him to follow you. You plopped him into your office chair and pulled one of the cardboard boxes up to the desk. In the process, you grabbed your gloves, goggles, and everything you would need to set up a simple timed piston. The smallest spark of happiness flashed inside you as you saw that your resources were fully stocked.
“What are you doing?”
“Well, Tommy, I’m going to show you how to set up one of my favorite redstone mechanisms. Put these on,” you handed him the gloves and goggles and watched as he put them on. The goggles were a bit small on him, but besides that, everything fit him.
“Now, you’re going to want to…”
--------------------------------------------------
Hours passed as you both worked together on the contraption. Slowly, you could see Tommy loosening up and making more jokes, successfully distracted. However, you didn’t expect yourself to follow suit. Laughter came easier to you whenever Tommy would joke around, your troubles long forgotten.
It took a little longer than you were used to, but eventually Tommy started to follow along with the precision you’d expect from a beginner. Slowly but surely, with many mistakes along the way, there was a working piston system sitting on the desk.
Tommy triumphantly laughed into the air as he watched the pistons work in tandem with one another. You laughed alongside him and ruffled his hair, “nice job, Artie! I knew you could do it!”
Tommy completely stopped and looked at you in confusion, “‘Artie’? Who’s that?”
You completely froze in place, you hadn’t meant to call him Artie. He was Tommy, he was your blond little brother, not your ginger son. Tommy was his own person, he was Tommy, not Arthur. You mentally scolded yourself for constantly mixing the two up.
“Artie is- well, he’s just… Arthur is my old friend,” you stammered out after tripping over your words clumsily. Tommy couldn’t find out about Arthur, nobody could. That’d just ruin your plan.
He snorted, “sure, ‘old friend’. You know, if Dad finds out that you’re dating someone he’d ground you for life.”
“I’d never date anybody, you know that,” you scolded him with your nose wrinkled in disgust. “He’s just an old friend and you remind me of him.”
“Well, old friend or not, he sounds amazing if I remind you of him!”
You smiled sadly as your mind flashed to images of Arthur at various points in his life, “he really was, you would’ve loved him, Tommy. He might’ve been the best person I’ve ever met.”
“Why don’t you tell me about him? I can preen your wings-” Tommy abruptly stopped himself and looked like he’d just accidentally kicked a puppy, looking at you with wide eyes and red tinted cheeks.
Just as he started opening and closing his mouth like a fish out of water, you chuckled at his expression, “you’re fine, Tommy. It’s just going to take some time for you to get used to this,” you shifted your wing and cringed at the uncomfortable feeling. You haven’t preened your wings since before you left for the cave nearly two months ago, and your wing was a mess of bent and loose feathers. “I’d… actually like a good preening, are you sure you know how to do it?”
“Please,” he scoffed before pushing you to sit down in your desk chair, “I’ve seen you and Dad do it to each other thousands of times, I think I know what I’m doing.”
“That isn’t how that- you know what? Just go ahead. Make sure you get any loose feathers and straighten them out,” you stretched your wing out and hoped for the best. Tommy surprisingly did a decent job of straightening out feathers, he just had to work on distinguishing loose feathers from intact feathers (you were now missing a couple of smaller feathers).
The entire time, you were telling him how amazing your boy was. Sure, you might’ve overexaggerated just a little bit, but Arthur was certainly someone that deserved the praise. That kid was something else, truly a prodigy at both redstone and compassion. Leaving out the fact that Arthur was your adopted son and that he was ten years old was a little hard, but you managed to avoid that.
You could tell that Tommy knew something was different about you, but you guessed that he just assumed the changes were because of your death and not because you were technically two and a half years older than you physically are.
When he was done, you looked at your wing and you were pleasantly surprised at how well he did; sure there were a few loose feathers and they were partially crooked, but you could tell that Tommy did his best with them.
“Thanks, Toms,” you smiled at him after you tucked your wing back in, “I really appreciate you doing that, it was starting to bother me.”
“It’s no problem,” he puffed out his chest in pride, “I told you I knew what I was doing.”
“And I’m sorry for ever doubting you. Who knows, maybe Dad’ll let you do his wings next.”
“Oh gods no,” Tommy shuddered slightly, “his are massive and he has two of them! If doing yours took me an hour and a half, I’d hate to see how long it’d take me to do his.”
You cringed, remembering the last time you preened his wings. Though you were experienced, it had taken you two full hours for each wing. “Yeah, his wings are huge. Gods, I hope my wing doesn’t get to be that size.” Though they grew to be nowhere near Philza’s wingspan when you were in that reality, you weren’t sure if yours was going to be larger or smaller than what they were.
Just as Tommy was about to open his mouth to respond to you, Wilbur’s voice echoed down the stairwell, “Tommy, dinnertime!”
“Well c’mon then, let’s go. I’ll race you there,” was all Tommy said to you before he bolted up the stairs with a booming laugh, skipping every third step. You could feel your heart stop when he almost tripped on one of the stairs because he skipped too many. Rushing after him, you shouted at him, “Tommy, walk! You’re going to break your neck if you keep running up and down the stairs!”

previous part I masterlist
y/n’s head was no longer cloudy.
it scared her at first,  her twitter username and bio must have gave it all away. part of her hoped that katsuki wouldn’t notice the notification, and if he did, well she hopes he’d be too dumb or oblivious to know it was her. but of course, bakugou fucking katsuki wasn’t like that. y/n would know, especially when she woke up him following her back.
fucking son of a bitch.
it was very obvious that it was katsuki. from his voice during lives to his demeanor with his posts: reserved. it was a bitch to think about, no matter what y/n did it was all that occupied her mind. she was aware of the comments she had left on his last live, her other hand too busy pumping her fingers in and out of her pussy to make more than two. that’s what bothered her. not only did she get off to her rival of all people, she did it twice. twice!
she thought about it the whole morning as she reached UA. a person came from behind and bumped her shoulder, rushing to the group of people crowding the main gate. y/n knotted her eyebrows, her mind was too all over the place to know what they could have been fussing about.
the crowd completely blocked the gate and she sighed, opting to take another route until someone grabbed her arm. thinking it was a teacher or a student, she turned around with a smile.
what the fuck.
katsuki stood there gripping her arm and her heart dropped. she yanks his hand away and glared at him, goddamn if looks could kill katsuki would’ve made it to heaven right about now. she stared at him with so much intensity, it almost looked like she was gonna go crazy over the fact that he stopped her, let alone even touch her.
fuck, that’s hot. katsuki gulped and mentally slapped himself after the thought. “don’t let the teachers see you-” he whispered, looking around. y/n sighed, “too late.” she looked behind him where their Biology professor stood with a smile.
“good morning, kids! i’m glad i found you two together, which is um... quite new, don’t you think?” the old woman greeted. katsuki rolled his eyes before facing her, standing beside y/n.
the h/c-haired girl didn’t like being near him at all, he had this weird aura and she didn’t know what his intentions were at all. and him approaching her for the first time without being forced by a professor after the shenanigans of last night? way too timed to be a coincidence, though she wishes it was.
“if you don’t know yet, our school’s competing with others schools with this little competition our school made.” the old woman got straight to the point. “the competition is that weekly for this month, a duo would take a quiz on a specific subject together. the subject changes every week and the questions get harder and harder! the 5 duos with the lowest scores are eliminated. it’s said on the board right there!” she pointed to where the students crowded.
“um, okay...? why are you telling us this then?” y/n questioned, adjusting her grip on her bag as the professor smiled again whilst katsuki breathed out a loud sigh.
“i want you both to be the duo that represents our school!”
“miss-” katsuki started, but got cut off. “don’t you think we’re the worst duo for this? i mean,” y/n laughed sarcastically. “you know we hate each other, everyone fucking knows tha-”
“language, miss l/n.” the professor’s sternly scolded and y/n flinches a bit at the change of mood. “yes, ma’am.” the younger girl looked down on her shoes. “i think it’s a good opportunity for the two of you,” the old woman pointed to the two students. “to get along. you two are really gifted, and i don’t want our school to lose this or get humiliated just because you two have beef with each other for reasons unknown.”
y/n was sweating under her jacket and she gulped as the woman walked away, letting them know her decision was final. katsuki breathed out a deep sigh, face-palming. “what are we gonna do now? knowing that bitch, she’ll tell everyone we said yes.”
y/n didn’t bother to argue with the blonde, she knew he was right. the crowd near the gate starts to disappear and she leaves without responding to katsuki. she doesn’t know where the fuck he got the confidence to talk to her so casually. more like she wished she didn’t know.
she knew that he knew.
and he knew that she knew too.
so simple yet so complicated.
class dragged out and y/n hasn’t spared a single glance at katsuki. she’s done this almost everyday since she met him, so it was easy to do. if only he’d stop staring into her soul, knowing she can see him in the corner of her eye.
katsuki’s always liked to stare, though he had nothing to stare at. and now he does, even he doesn’t like how much he’s staring. he’d snap out of it, curse himself and y/n too while he’s at it, then get caught in a daze while staring at her again.
multiple teachers approached them and individually asked them about the competition, their answers were the same the whole time, a bland “yeah, we’re competing as the duo.”
the students sat in their last class, blabbering around and not caring anymore. it was the last class, after all. they were tired and wanted to go home, but of course, they can’t. at least not yet. y/n didn’t feel like listening, she was tired too. doodling in her notebook, her heart drops when the professor calls her name. fuck, i don’t know the answe-
“oh. and mister bakugou too. i think it’s for the competition, the principal wants you two.” the old male lets out an intrigued hum. “don’t you guys hate each other?” y/n and katsuki walked out the room silently, filling the room with embarrassment on the professors side.
the female walked on the other end of the corridor, she didn’t like katsuki at all. his mere presence makes her gag, and she knows it’s the same for him too. that’s why they opted to stay as far away from each other as possible.
the ash blonde walks into the principal’s office with y/n hot on his trail. “take a seat.” the principal said, not looking up from his paperwork. “listen, you two. i heard a lot from teachers about how you compete with each other, but the both of you are the smartest duo here. all i want is for you two to study together and pass the quizzes as best as you can. you don’t even have to get along! and your grades will be perfect A+’s for the whole month, and if you win, maybe i’ll extend to a month more.”
y/n and katsuki’s eyes widened at the offer, it was so tempting. and education always came first before pride anyway. “fine, i’ll do it.” y/n was the first to speak while katsuki just nodded his head.
“it’s settled then.”
[ timeskip ]
y/n plopped down on her bed. the two of them got sent home early and were forced to share socials with each other. they were also granted permission to use the library whenever they wanted, and were given the schedule to study together from their last two classes until whenever they liked. and before going their separate ways, she told katsuki to text her a plan if he had one.
her phone dings and she automatically assumed it was him. and it was. just... a little more lewd. definitely not what she was expecting.
y/n cussed, “since when the fuck did i let this stupid fucking site give me notifications?” katsuki’s heavy breathing and occasional grunts boomed through her speaker and she hurried to click off it, until her eyes landed on his cock.
from what seemed like it, he had already cum once, the white liquid dripping from his slit down his lenght. y/n can’t seem to tear her eyes from the way he stroked his cock, so gentle yet so rushed, so... satisfying.
she shakes her head and kicks herself out of her absurd train of thoughts, thumb hovering over the ‘X’ on the top left of the site. “have you joined the live, pretty face?” she flinches when she heard his raspy voice, thighs unconciously rubbing together and panties already soaked.
“i hope you have, fuck. been thinking about you all day, mhmm~ why don’t you drop your little comments for me?” she could practically hear the smirk in his words, and it irritated her. but fuck, if he wasn’t so attractive. his perfectly sculpted body, his voice, and that pretty cock. it was that fucking cock.
“are you touching yourself, pretty face? you better. this live’s all for you.” katsuki moaned out, stroking himself faster. y/n watched as the chat went crazy, all of them confessing their sins to him like he was some sort of God.
and maybe he was, cause she found herself running a finger through her wet folds as she watched the camboy play with his tip. she shoves a finger inside, moaning with him before moving in and out parallel to his strokes.
katsuki comes again, his strokes coming to a half. he pants before smirking, “pretty face, lookie here.” he shows a fleshlight to the camera, his tip prodding at the toys entrance. y/n slowly adds another finger as he sunk the toy down onto his cock, both of them moaning.
they both fuck themselves into oblivion while thinking of each other, katsuki’s hips violently fucking into the toy as he hissed, “fuck, i bet your pussy feels a lot better.” y/n felt her cunt clench around her finger at the statement as she started to rub her clit as well.
she orgasms a little bit before katsuki shot his load into the toy, both their movements halting as they tried to catch their breath. she types in a comment before finally exiting the site, feeling slightly disgusted of what she just did. she shudders and opts on taking a shower before napping.
“you dirty little thing.”
katsuki felt his cock twitch at y/n’s comment. he ended the live right after, knowing she probably left already. the notifications for money he hoarded sat heavy on his account and he smiled, cleaning himself up after. the image of her with her legs open, her fingers buried deep in her cunt and her moaning uncontrollably was all that filled katsuki’s brain.
and he fucking hates it. he hates how much power the desires of his cock had over him when he was horny.
and the only desire his cock had was her.

Daryl Dixon x Reader [Pt.2] [Pt.3] [Pt.4] [Pt.5] [Pt.6]
Babysitting Judith was amazing, not that she needed a babysitter but Michonne preferred if someone was with her while she herself couldn’t be there.
“Come on Jude, time for bed!” You called out, chasing after her, trying to g her ready to sleep and hoping she’d lose some of that typical child energy by chasing her around the house or longer than was honestly needed. You’d never mind it all, it was great to only have to worry about a little kid’s bed time for once in a while. The only worries being the ones between the four walls you were currently sharing with probably the happiest resident of Alexandria. After running up and down the stairs countless times the little one finally started slowing down. “Oh noooo you’re catching meee!” She whined when you eventually picked her up and carried her to her room. “Yeah I did, you sleepyhead, you got to tired to run away. That means ya gotta sleep.” You carefully tucked her in and gave her a small kiss on her head. “Goodnight, kid.”  You id softly as you left the bedroom. Before you could close the door completely, you heard a small ‘Goodnight’ and smiled to yourself as you closed the door and went back downstairs to drop yourself onto the couch.
You had been staying at this place for two days now and were currently deep in conversation with Kelly, who decided you needed some company after Judith’s bedtime. And of course none of your friend’s evening visits would be complete without a skillfully stolen bottle of alcohol and the two of you were deeply indulged in tipsy talk of boys, girls and anything that was not meant for children's ears.
“No, really. You wouldn’t even be able to imagine what I’d let that guy do to me..” You rambled on and on about your secret, not so little crush. “I wanna have his babies, oh my god.”
Kelly was practically crying in her seat from laughing too much, trying to hush herself to make sure she wouldn’t accidentally wake up Judith. “I never thought you were the one for kids, though?” She questioned into the room. “Especially now with the world gone to shit and all.”
You just kept blabbing on about how in love you were and how there was finally some hope once their group came into Alexandria and Kelly only fed you more questions to answer without an ounce of shame, all he way until the bottle was empty and your heart had spilled enough to satisfy her curiosity and you were close to falling asleep on the couch.
After Kelly left it wasn’t long before you passed out and slept peacefully until morning, when you were woken up by Michonne who had arrived home earlier than you expected. Your first instinct was to glance over the coffee table and lucky for you Kelly had thought to take the empty bottle back with her when she left. “G’morning, you.” You muttered, still half asleep. Looking further across the room you saw Judith quietly sitting at the dinner table, doodling something and making sure she wouldn’t wake you up while you still slept. “Good morning!” She happily called from the table, to which you lazily waved hello back while slowly getting up, praising whoever was listening to bless you with a morning without a hangover after drinking as much as you did yesterday.
“thank you so much for watching her again.” Michonne spoke as she gave you a goodbye hug at the front door after you shared breakfast and packed your things to head back home. “If you ever need the favor returned, let me know alright” She called after you with a mischievous smile and a happy wave before closing the door again.
You made your way back home and took a quick shower before going off to find Daryl who was supposed to come over yesterday to talk about that run you two were going on tomorrow, but he never showed up and you were curious to find out why.
Daryl was making his way over to Michonne’s place where he was meeting y/n to discuss their run, but before he knocked on the front door he heard laughter coming from the living room and checked through the window and spotted Kelly and her sharing a drink and laughing, listening in to their conversation he quickly decided he wasn’t gonna be a part of all that and went back home. The words he heard her speak mulling around in his head throughout the whole night and into the morning.
It wasn’t long before you found Daryl. After checking his place and finding empty, you saw Aaron’s garage door open and peeked in to see Daryl working on his bike. “Hey, good morning!” You called from outside the garage. You received  a Hey back without him looking away from his bike. “Can I interrupt or are you dropping by my place when you’re done?” You asked, still from your safe distance. No one was allowed too close to his bike whenever he was working on it, not even Judith dared to get close to uncle Daryl’s garage when he was working. “S’alright. Lemme finish up here first.” He still hadn’t taken a single glance away from his bike and you took it as your sign to leave him alone and wait back at your place.
After sitting in the living room for what felt like way too long you started wandering around the house, picking up one item after the other and see if it was useful enough to pack for your run. You remembered Daryl telling you to only pack what was necessary, but you found so many things useful with your what-if way of thinking that you always carried an already full bag from the start of the run and having Daryl carry more than he was planning to because of your, according to him, bad habits.
Eventually there was a knock on your door and you almost threw yourself down the stairs to open the door and allow Daryl to come in and finally sit down to work out a plan.
“Hey! Good to finally see you.” You invited him into your home that was still a mess of items never put back after runs, blankets and pillows  thrown around the couch and that was only the living room. There was more silence from him as he paced around, trying to find a spot that wouldn’t be right next to you on the couch. Questions were all over your mind, but you had to get to the point. Your biggest problem now was not being able to focus at all on the important run you were gonna go on, before going over why he hadn’t shown up and had been so weirdly quiet and distant.
“Were you working on our bike all night again? you didn’t drop by yesterday like you said you would.” You were sounding more worried than you wanted to let on, you knew that there was something wrong if Daryl spent all day tinkering away at his bike. He was still looking around at all of the stuff scattered throughout your place, mulling over the multiple ways he could answer. ‘You were drinking’ was one of them. ‘Ya were havin’ fun’ was another one, he’d never want to end your enjoyable night with a friend by coming over to talk about work. ‘Didn’t wanna hear more about the guy ya wanted to bone ya.’ Or more likely, not wanting to find out which pretty young guy she was so happily talking about.
“Came by,  heard ya talk about guys with Kelly.” He said carefully, still avoiding your gaze. “Okay, so? You know we would have stopped as soon as you walked in, right? This is way more important than my tips rambling.” You had noticed him staring around and you felt guilty for not even cleaning up a little bit, knowing he’d drop by today. You had started with grabbing the pillows and tossing them into your basket an folding the blankets on top of it to at least make some space on the couch for Daryl to come and sit while you sat back down in the chair next to it.
“Or is there something else you want to talk about? there’s clearly something bothering you.” You didn’t feel safe going on this run tomorrow if this wasn’t talked about and properly dealt with.
Daryl knew this as well, if you two were going to go on a run without your heads on straight, either of you could end up getting hurt or worse and thinking about that idea had Daryl close to panicking earlier last night on top of those thoughts of what you talked about. He knew this was something he needed to share today and it was stressing him out.
“S’what ya said to Kelly. Heard something I should forget about. Tha’s all.” He sighed as he dumped himself on your couch, unsure if he chose the right words and afraid of the confrontation he was gonna have and couldn’t simply run away from.
“So you heard me talk to Kelly about,” You sighed, thinking back to your conversation, going from topic to topic, crossing out everything that wouldn’t have affected him like this and ended up on hat moment where you were shamelessly telling her what you’d want Daryl to do to you, but you couldn’t remember if you’d even used his name at all. “We talked about boys, so what?” You never mentioned his name in the part that he heard, or what you thought he had and now you had to decide wether you were telling him who all of that was about and confess, or let him imagine who you might have been talking about and get it wrong every time.
“Why’d ya want a guy to do that to ya in this world?” Daryl asked just loud enough for you to catch it before you could say anything else, and now you had to think of an answer. You thought about how much easier this was to answer if Kelly had been the one asking the question. Realizing what your head just told you, you knew how to answer him. Just tell him what you’d tell Kelly that was the truth and it should be said out loud before you could come up with a shitty excuse. Not daring to look him in the eyes, you were twiddling your fingers in your lap, gathering the courage to speak your thoughts out loud. Taking a deep breath you had to go for it. “All that was about you. We were talking about you. We both think you’re amazing. Her only as friends of course but I’ve been feeling more for quite a while and I’m sorry you heard all that. We drank too much and I wasn’t thinking.”  Rambling on you almost went into an over-explaining fit because of how nervous you were and honestly you just wanted to disappear.
The silence wasn’t helping at all either, making your doubts ring even louder in your head. “Ya crazy, kid. But a good crazy.” You carefully looked his way after being dragged out of your head by his voice. “I don’t get it, really. Jus’ happy ya ain’t after one of them Alexandrian boys.” This had you giggle as Kelly gave you the exact same answer when she asked if you were interested in someone and found out it was Daryl.
“Is that all you’re gonna say? You don’t get it but what? You’re okay with it? You just don’t feel the same? Or you do but you don’t know how to say it.” You weren’t sure why you were asking so much, you weren’t even sure if you wanted to know the answers.
“Can’t say I slept well after what ya said an’ thinkin’ it was about one of them other boys.” He was talking around the point and while you just wanted him to say what he was thinking, you knew it was difficult for him too. “So, what now? We just pretend this never happened, go on before?”
Daryl thought about it for a bit, pacing around the room rummaging in his pocket and pulling outa pack of cigarettes, holding them up for you to see. “You can smoke inside, there’s an ashtray in the kitchen.” You motioned towards the kitchen counter, understanding he needed a smoke after such a difficult talk. You saw him visibly relax as he took a few drags and sat back down with the ashtray balanced on his leg. Rethinking his plan he placed the ashtray back on the coffee table and placed his cigarette in it before leaning back in the chair and patting his leg, motioning for you to come over. “Yer gonna have ta help me with this.” He said and picked up his cigarette again as you hadn’t moved yet. “I do like ya a lot. But I wanna go on that run before we talk about all of this.”

Tumblr media
↳ it was like 2 in the morning and the gc with the volleyball club was blowing up
↳ everyone was awake and it was just CHAOS
↳ so it made you wonder — wtf would a giant sleepover with us all be like
↳ so u asked just that in the gc
↳ the responses were...
tsuki: no way
yams: cmon it’d be so much fun!!
kageyama: sure
hinata: LETS DO IT
noya: FUCK IT UPPP
tanaka: YUH GET INTO IT
daichi: sounds interesting
tsuki: fine
suga: i’m down!
asahi: me too!
yachi: i’m scared
kiyoko: it’ll be fine yachi
↳ so it was scheduled for friday night at 6pm
↳ and when everyone got there WOW it was so loud there was so much going on
↳ everyone finally calmed down when pizza was ordered hksksjhs
↳ a debate about pineapple on pizza went down
↳ HUGE SUPER MARIO PARTY GAME HOLY SHIT
↳ there were 12 of you (including yourself) and max was 8 players so kiyoko, yachi, asahi, and tanaka sat out
↳ tanaka was yelling at noya and hyping him up though and so was asahi at suga
↳ hinata picked diddy, kageyama picked the goomba, tsuki picked bowser jr, yamaguchi picked shy guy, suga picked yoshi, daichi picked donkey kong HSHSJJSH, and noya picked wario obvi
↳ so. much. SCREAMING
↳ tanaka: “NOYA OHMY- dont fuck this up you need to roll 4- LETS GO BABY LETS GET A-”
↳ he rolled a 4 pure luck and him and tanaka started running around screaming “LETS GOOOOO”
↳ tsuki: “you have 0 stars”
↳ noya: “wtf i’m still gonna win-”
↳ daichi was clueless at first but then really started getting into it
↳ suga was hyping everyone up but was super determined to win
↳ kageyama had the WORST luck. he could have sworn that the game was against him
↳ hinata made fun of him HAA
↳ SUPER CLOSE GAME BETWEEN SUGA AND TSUKISHIMA
↳ tsuki won are u fr?
↳ after another round, tanaka and noya suggested spin the bottle
↳ sigh
↳ they obviously were hoping to kiss kiyoko
↳ she played ONE round. ONE
↳ landed on yachi ofc<3
↳ SO MUCH YELLING WHEN IT WAS JUST A QUICK AND SMALL PECK BETWEEN THEM
↳ yachi was so nervous it was hilarious
↳ OH AND THEN IT LANDED ON TSUKISHIMA AND YAMAGUCHI
↳ tsuki did it like it was NOTHING
↳ cue the screaming. again
↳ after a few more turns, it started getting late so asahi took some uno cards out of his bag
↳ everybody changed into their jammies and sat in a circle
↳ hinata was wearing some old tee from grammar school as his pj shirt and the first and second years FLAMED him
↳ anyways. uno game. right
↳ tell me why daichi got the worst cards every turn
↳ hinata was peeking at other people’s cards
↳ kageyama was pissed off by how many cards he kept having to pick up
↳ so. many. plus 4 cards. from suga
↳ but ohohoh he got some karma
↳ yamaguchi placed down a +4 to give to yachi (he picked it up and was s o s o r r y) then she placed another one down to give to hinata, THEN HE PLACED ANOTHER +4 AND LASTLY TANAKA ADDED 4 AND GAVE IT TO SUGA
↳ 16 fucking cards- he was scared
↳ yamaguchi won <3
↳ and then asahi whipped out another game
↳ family feud....
↳ you can already tell how bad this is gonna get
↳ team #1 consisted of: hinata, kageyama, daichi, yachi, nishinoya
↳ team #2: tsukishima, asahi, suga, kiyoko, tanaka
↳ yamaguchi wanted to be the steve harvey of the night so you helped him keep track of points
↳ in the gc, asahi texted a msg for someone to bring a button
↳ tanaka brought a “nut” one 💀
↳ you placed it in the middle of the table. boom. what could go wrong?
↳ round one began...
↳ tanaka vs daichi
↳ yams: “name something you find sand in after a day at the beach”
↳ the fucking button SLAMMED AGAINST THAT TABLE AND SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS GOING TO BREAK
↳ tanaka: “MY ASS-”
↳ the GIGGLING THAT ESCAPED EVERYONE’S MOUTHS-
↳ daichi was just “:O um. my turn-or?”
↳ noya: did he get the point?
↳ kageyama: he is on the OTHER TEAM
↳ hinata: i guess but it was a good answer..
↳ i’m pretty sure you can already guess what team won
↳ a few more rounds were played and it was like midnight so you put a movie on
↳ tanaka noya and hinata sat in the front, laughing at every single thing going on
↳ kageyama: “hinata if u don’t shut ur FUCKING MOUTH”
↳ yamaguchi: “can you raise the volume?”
↳ tsukishima: “no they just need to shut the fuck up before i go over there and-”
↳ a pillow was thrown...
↳ shit went down..
↳ asahi: “come on guys let’s just watch the movie”
↳ daichi threw a pillow at him
↳ cue the surprised pikachu face @ daichi
↳ yachi was sCared
↳ so her, kiyoko, and you snuck off to the bathroom while chaos erupted between the boys
↳ kiyoko: “okay when they all fall asleep, i want to mess with them”
↳ yachi: “are you sure that they won’t kill us-?”
↳ OHOHOHO a plan was devised
↳ you three waited until the screaming died down a bit and then walked out
↳ feathers everywhere, uno cards all over the floor, and the nut button was smashed...
↳ wtf happened you left to the bathroom for like 6 minutes-
↳ “ummm...”
↳ “so...”
↳ “bed..time?”
↳ it was 1:30 in the morning and i’m sure you can already tell who was wide awake
↳ daichi, kageyama, asahi, yamaguchi, and tsukishima were trying to get ready to sleep
↳ you and the girls were trying to stay awake for your little plan
↳ hinata, noya, tanaka, and suga were just... wired
↳ yeah did suga surprise u? nope not me. that boy is chaotic at sleepovers don’t @ me
↳ they set up a smash game (while the others were sleeping) so tsuki woke back up to beat everyones ass-
↳ it started getting loud until daichi got up like - “shut✨the fuck✨up✨”
↳ so everyone quieted down HSJSHS
↳ you joined in on the game and teams were formed
↳ you and tsuki vs hinata, noya, and suga
↳ tsuki: “just pls don’t fuck this up-”
↳ you and him won😫obvi
↳ at the end when it was only tsuki and suga, he kept RUNNING AWAY FROM HIM
↳ suga was just — :p u cant catch me
↳ and when he did.. yikes..
↳ everyone eventually fell asleep
↳ except you, kiyoko, and yachi
↳ kageyama grumbles in his sleep, daichi sleeps like a serial killer, suga was just-he looked like an angel, asahi was lowkey breathing loud, noya and tanaka were SPOONING, hinata kicks in his sleep, tsuki sleeps with his headphones in?? and yamaguchi turns around every second
↳ it was time for the plan nehehehe
↳ kiyoko put makeup on kageyama, tanaka, and asahi
↳ yachi started doodling on daichi’s, noya’s, and yamaguchi’s faces
↳ you put an alarm set to go off in the morning and blast ‘deepthroat’ by cupcakke on tsuki’s phone ***yes he still had his headphones in
↳ and you all put some creepy clown doll right next to hinata’s face so that it could be the first thing he wakes up to
↳ next thing you know it’s 7AM and all you hear is “hUMPME FUCK ME-”
↳ tsuki was the first one awake and was already grumpy
↳ he thought that it was noya and tanaka’s idea to mess with him so he like shoved them awake
↳ “cupcakke? really?” and then he stopped to look at their faces
↳ yachi drew some fucked up shit on noya’s face and tanaka was wearing red lipstick with pink eyeshadow
↳ “it’s too early for this...” HE LEFT TO THE BATHROOM LMFAO
↳ oh god and then everyone woke up
↳ you and the girls were fake sleeping and listening to it all go down
↳ breakfast was.. interesting
↳ hinata was traumatized from that clown incident (he scream sounded like it came from his little sister) the boys were trying to rub off their makeup and it was smudged all over their faces, and the other boys were just ... trying to ignore the drawings on them
↳ ofc yachi drew a mustache on daichi
↳ oh and noya was trying to play the drawings off as tattoos😔
↳ you don’t even wanna know about breakfast-
↳ everyone agreed on pancakes and well...
↳ batter was everywhere and the smoke detector went off

Practice games have been stressing out Yuta lately. Playing in an international soccer league has always been his dream. A dream he easily got because of passion and determination.
He was in fifth grade when he realized what he wanted, to play soccer full time. He’s happy that his parents are supportive of this dream. That she encouraged him to do what his heart wants.
He should have done the same for her.
A blue envelope was on top of the box. Maybe that was the letter he was reading before heading to bed last night. Letter number fifty-five. The realization of her dreams.
He’s been reading it countless times that by now, he memorized how her letters start.
‘Hi, Yuta. How is soccer going?’
It would make him smile. Her cursive penmanship and the little doodles at the edge of the paper.
‘I think I just found my dream. I want to be a mom someday.’
He remembered how it surprised him. She likes to draw. Back in elementary school, she would always tell everyone that she’ll be an illustrator or an artist. Now that she’s in her second year of college, she wants to be a mom?
But her explanation of how amazing kids are, how their eyes widen in curiosity made him convinced that this is really what she wants. She’s always like that, she notices the little things in life. Yuta never imagined her as a mom before, she’s so childish when they’re together.
But now, she’s different. More matured. More responsible. Like a mom. She really did achieve her dream. Chicago had done so much to her.
                                                  ----
It was the last day of their tenth grade. Yuta was lying down on the grass, his head on Y/N’s lap. He just came from soccer practice and his body is already beat that he just wanted to lie down and sleep. But his mind had been whirling, unable to focus on just sleeping. “Are you really going to Chicago?” he asked, which made the girl nod. “Can’t you just stay here? You can just stay at our house. My mom can talk to your mom.”
But she just smiled. “There’s only me and eomma left, I can’t get separated from eomma.” Yuta hummed, that’s true. “I also don’t want her to miss the opportunity of going to Chicago.”
“But it’s halfway across the globe. It’s nighttime there then daytime here,”  he said, sitting down with his back facing her. He doesn't want to look at her right now. "You promised that we'll go to the same college."
"I did. But Yuta, you'll go to sports and I'll be an art major, we won't be together as well." She reasoned out. "Besides, I'll write to you whenever I have the chance. I'll tell you everything."
He pouted that made her laugh. They're already high school students yet he still looks like a child. "You'll have to learn English." She giggled at that. Of course, she has to. And he wished that it was enough to stop her from going somewhere that's 13 hours away by plane?
                                              ----
"Just tell her that you're in love with her," Taeyong claimed once while they're cleaning their homeroom. What? "Maybe that will stop her from going away."
"I’m not in love with her," Yuta said loud enough that his voice echoed through the room. Luckily, there's only him and Taeyong. "What the hell are you talking about?"
Taeyong just shrugged, feeling hopeless at his friend. The door opened and she peeked into the room, checking if they're finished with their cleaning. "Yah, let's eat tteokbokki."
It was their favorite hang-out place, a tteokbokki near their school. And although Y/N can't eat so spicy foods, Yuta would always ask for a mild one with lots of cheese. Taeyong would always share things happening in the broadcast club and she would share things from the art club. Yuta, as competitive as he is, would share things from the sports club.
But today, he's just staring at the plate of cheesy rice cakes. "Yuta, are you alright?" Y/N asked which made him nod, staring at her. He took some tissues to wipe her fingers full of the sauce that made Taeyong smile.
"You're going to miss this when you go abroad." She only nodded. Taeyong just watched the two of them. "Oh, I forgot. I have to do something, I'll go first." And he just left, surprising the two of them. Y/N mumbled that he is weird and Yuta nodded.
His phone vibrated, a message from Taeyong 'Tell her you love her'. Yuta rolled his eyes, closed his phone, and kept it in his pocket.
His first regret. He really should have done it.
                                                       ----
It was still 4 am when Yuta's phone vibrated that woke him up. He almost sat up in surprise that startled his manager. "What happened?" Mark asked, completely woken up. The older just shook his head that made the younger go back to laying on his bed.
"Mark!" The younger sat up in annoyance. "She messaged me." Who? Yuta showed the younger one his phone that has a message from someone named Y/N. 'Yuta, it's Y/N. Can I call you?' "Mark, what should I do?"
The younger clicked the small phone button on top of the screen that startled Yuta. Her voice can be heard saying hello and Yuta coughed lightly to regulate his voice. "Hi. Sorry for disturbing you." She said that made him shake his head. "You have a game today, right?" How did she know that? "Jae told me."
"Yeah. Later." He answered coolly and he heard Mark chuckle. He threw a pillow at him. "Are you watching?"
She hummed. "Jae didn't go to school today. He wanted to watch you." He didn't go to school? "Now, he doesn't want to eat lunch. So, can you talk to him?" She asked shyly. "I'm sorry for bothering you, Yuta."
"It's fine. Let me talk to him." He heard shuffling in the background as well as her voice calling out for him. A cheerful hello can be heard and he lightly chuckled, “Hi, Jae. It’s Yuta.”
“Are you practicing now?” he asked but before Yuta could answer, he raced him in talking. “You have to win the game. I know you’ll do great.” He smiled, leaning on his bed, just hearing his voice. “Eomma and I will be cheering for you, samchon.”
Yuta chuckled. He’s so cute. “Okay. I’ll do my best, buddy. But please listen to your mom and eat lunch.” A whine escaped his lips that made the older laugh. “You can’t cheer loudly if you don’t eat.” He was about to revolt when he continued, “And I can’t score if you can’t cheer loudly.”
“Okay. I will eat lots and lots so you can score a lot of goals.” Yuta laughed. He’s so cute.
He heard how Jae called for his mom saying that he’s going to eat and to give him lots of rice so he can cheer loudly. “Thank you,” Y/N said from the other line, and Yuta smiled. “He’s so talkative. It’s new.”
He is. "You were like that when you were young." He heard her giggle and he smiled. "The game will air at ten pm in Korea. Are you going to wait that long?"
She gasped, obviously surprised. "Jae will get mad at me if he misses it." Yuta chuckled once again. "Thank you for your time, Yuta. You can go back to practice now. Sorry."
"It's still 4 am here." She muttered an 'Oh my God' that made him laugh. "It's fine. I'm going to train early." That took Mark's attention.
When Yuta put down his phone, his manager just shook his head. "You sound like a dad talking to his wife and children," Mark commented.
He threw a pillow at him while watching him head to the bathroom then shook his head. That's not a bad thought.

Day Twenty-Two: When you close your own eyes, you can see what your soulmate sees.
Summary: Logan was positive that he didn’t have a soulmate, or that everyone around him was making up the whole thing. Virgil kept his eyes closed as much as he possibly could, because when he did, he saw what his soulmate saw.
Ship: Analogical (Virgil x Logan)
word count: 847
(big thanks to Danni from Discord for helping me figure out what ship to write for this and for the idea with the glow in the dark stars on Logan’s ceiling. i heart you both with my heart.)
@tsshipmonth2020
---
Logan was taught from a very young age that when you close your eyes, you see what your soulmate is looking at. His parents would use this to their advantage when doing grocery shopping or attending school productions or events. But whenever Logan closed his eyes, all he saw was darkness. Nothing was there, and as he grew older, he began to think that he didn’t have a soulmate.
Perhaps the whole concept of soulmates was a trick told by parents, like Santa Claus or the Tooth Fairy, to make their children believe that love was real and that there would always be someone out there who loved you, who was meant for you. Maybe Logan was doomed to never have someone love him more than life itself, to have someone to hold in the middle of the night as they gazed at the glow-in-the-dark stars on his ceiling.
Those stars followed him throughout his whole life, from his childhood bedroom to his college dorms and finally into his bedroom of his own apartment, one he moved into once he began working at the local observatory. Every night, he’d lay on the bed, staring up at the ceiling of intricately organized glow-in-the-dark stars, mimicking the way the sky looks on his birthday, and hoped that maybe his inklings were wrong. That maybe the stars would be kinder to him tomorrow, that he’d close his eyes and see what his destiny would be.
-
Virgil was born blind. He didn’t mind it too much, since his dad was always there for him and when he focused on the movements of closing his eyes, he saw stars. Specifically, glow-in-the-dark stars on his soulmate’s ceiling. His soulmate spent a lot of time looking at those stars on their ceiling, at stars in books, at doodles of stars in the margins of his school notes. As Virgil and his soulmate grew older, he noticed the stars followed them everywhere.
He wanted to meet the man he had watched grow up through the mirror. The man was tall, thin, and had black framed glasses around his bright blue eyes. He wore lots of button-up shirts and ties and sweaters, and Virgil loved him for the encouraging smile he would give himself as he adjusted his tie every morning.
But Virgil didn’t know how to find him. How do you find someone you’ve only seen when your eyes are closed, and you can’t see when they’re “open”? He finally asked his friends Janus and Remus (who were lucky to find each other in elementary school) for help in finding his soulmate. He would focus on the surroundings of his soulmate, trying to read the signs and describing everything he saw to his friends. Finally, they realized it was an observatory, so they started by going to the one closest to them. Maybe they’d be lucky.
Virgil described him in as much detail as possible, down to the exact things the man was wearing that day, and the trio walked around the observatory for a bit when Janus finally came to a halt.
“Virgil, focus. What does he see right now?” Janus asked, eyes focused ahead.
“I see…” he took a deep breath, focusing on what his soulmate saw. “Three guys, one on each side of…”
“Does the one on the left have a mustache? And the other is wearing a hat?” Remus asked quietly, for once not making jokes or saying inappropriate things.
“He’s here,” Virgil breathed out. He decided to step forward, towards the man. “Excuse me, do you work here?”
Logan’s eyes focused on the man in front of him. “Yes, I do. How can I help you?”
“This is going to sound really weird, but… I’m pretty sure you’re my soulmate. I can see myself right now,” he said.
“I don’t have a soulmate,” the man said coldly. “When I close my eyes, I see nothing.”
“I’m blind,” Virgil explained quietly. “You have glow-in-the-dark stars on your ceiling. You have ever since you were a child. I know because I’ve been looking at them for my entire life, too.” Logan thought all of the air would be forced from his lungs as the words hit him at full force.
“What’s your name?” He asked the man standing before him. He watched as hands gripped his arms, and a smile crossed the man’s face.
“I’m Virgil,” he said, and Logan thought the name was the most beautiful he’d ever heard. “And you are…?”
“I’m Logan.”
-
Logan slipped into bed beside Virgil, his arms wrapping around his boyfriend gently. “You still awake, starlight?” He asked quietly, and he felt Virgil nod, then snuggle closer into his chest.
“Will you look up at the ceiling for me?” Virgil asked, as he did every night. Logan smiled, adjusting so he looked up at the glow-in-the-dark stars on his ceiling, but during the day he had changed them around. Virgil shifted, and then a gasp left his mouth. “Logan… what did you do?”
In the stars, Logan had spelled out Will You Marry Me?

don’t wake up pt. 3 | rafe cameron x reader
summary: you and rafe grow closer, and the line between dreams and reality starts to blur
warnings: SMUT (unprotected), drug use mention, cursing, ward cameron being a dick of a father
word count: 3.7k (it’s a big one folks)
a/n: wow, thank you all for the amazing response to this series! it makes me so happy to see all your likes, reblogs, and comments, you have no idea. this part is long and sweet and honestly some of the best writing i’ve ever done. part 4 might take a little longer, since i go back to work tomorrow, but it should be up by the end of the week. also, warning, we jump right into the smut on this one. absolutely 0 foreplay.
series masterlist
“Fuck, Rafe!” you screamed as Rafe’s fingers started working on your clit.
“Don’t cum yet, angel. You know what happens when you don’t listen.”
His grip around your throat tightened as he continued to slam into you from behind. Your hands searched for something, anything to ground you, to keep your impending orgasm as bay. Your back was pressed against Rafe’s chest, keeping you far away from the sheets you wanted to grasp. Instead, your hands reached up and made a home in Rafe’s hair, making him groan as you pulled hard on it.
“Please, Rafe, please let me cum. I can’t hold it much longer!”
Rafe hit your pussy with a rough slap that nearly sent you over the edge.
“What did I fucking say?” He growled in your ear. Despite what he was saying, Rafe loved hearing you beg to cum. He moved his fingers faster, thrusts becoming sloppy but harder as he felt himself getting closer.
Right when he reached the edge, Rafe leaned close to your ear and whispered, “Come for me, angel.”
You met your release with a scream, Rafe following right after you. He held you against him, giving a few more lazy thrusts as you both rode out your orgasms. For a few moments you were both still, Rafe still filling you up but no longer thrusting. Rafe felt his heart beating fast against his chest, his breathing just as fast, same as yours. He placed a few soft kisses on your neck before slowly releasing you, laying you onto your stomach on the bed. He quickly ran to the bathroom to dispose of the condom before joining you on his bed, pulling you onto his chest.
A month had passed since the first time you two had hooked up. Rafe had texted you that same morning, telling you how much he wanted to do that again. And so you did. At least once a week (most of the time more) Rafe texted you or you texted Rafe wanting to meet up. You would either drive to his house or he would pick you up if someone else in your family was using the car. Then you’d head back to the Cameron residence and spend the rest of the night tangled in each other (though there was one time Rafe couldn’t control himself for the entire drive, pulling off to the side of the road and taking you right then and there).
You didn’t talk much about your arrangement, refusing to put labels on it for fear of ruining the moments you had. Moments that neither you or Rafe wanted to give up. It really was like a dream to Rafe. You came to him at night caressing him, touching him in ways no one else had before. No matter how rough he was with you, your touches were always gentle and caring, as if you weren’t just touching his skin and instead reaching in to touch his soul. When he was done making you scream and come undone beneath him, he held you close, afraid you would dissolve and fade away like all his other dreams. And in the morning, you did just that. The only proof he had that you had been there at all were the love bites strewn across his chest, the smell of you on his sheets, and the little notes you left for him.
Sometimes you wrote dumb jokes or promises of another night with you or just a doodle of a flower or a heart or a smiley face. He kept all of them in a drawer in his desk, but always placing the newest one in his wallet. He would look at it throughout the day, especially when the day became extremely difficult, to keep him going until the night when he would see you again. He didn’t want to force you stay, worried that the tighter he clung to you the harder you would pull away and the sooner he’d lose, because he would lose you eventually. He knew that. Even if you did try to stay, he couldn’t let you. He didn’t want to ruin you while he ruined himself. So he kept his problems hidden away from you, letting them set with the sun. When the moon was up, he got to pretend they were gone, and he had you in their place. Rafe was great at pretending. So when he woke up the next morning, he forced himself to prepare for reality that came when he opened his eyes and he woke from his dream. Except he didn’t.
The first thing he noticed was the smell of weed in the air, a gentle breeze from the window blowing the haze around his room. Then he opened his eyes and instead of seeing the empty side of the bed, he saw your bare thighs, criss-cross-apple sauce. You were leaning against the head board, smoking a joint and wearing one of his shirts. Your eyes were trained on the TV, and he could hear the sound of voices softly through the speakers. He pushed himself up on to his forearm, the movement alerting you of his consciousness. You smiled down at him and he damn near swooned.
“Morning, sleepy head.” You said. Rafe admired your morning appearance for the first time, taking in your messy hair and slightly droopy eyes, though that might have been from the weed. He loved how you looked in his shirt, how he could see the marks he left on you peeking out from the collar. Rafe almost pinched himself. You offered him the joint and his fingers brushed against yours, which meant you were here, really here. He took a hit while your eyes returned to the TV. He blew out the smoke then said, “Why are you still here?”
You turned back towards him, but didn’t meet his eyes. You furrowed your brows, looking down at your fingers as they picked at a loose thread on the sheet.
“It’s peaceful here,” You said simply. You looked back up at Rafe, concern now lacing your forehead. “I can go if you want.”
“No! No.” Rafe reached out, his large hand trapping your smaller one. He smiled softly up you.
“Stay, please.”
You smiled back and took the joint back from his offering fingers. You scooted closer to him as he sat up more, giving you space to rest your head on his shoulder. Rafe tried to calm his beating heart as you laced your fingers with his, staring at the TV intently. He tried to distract himself with the show you put on, but it just confused him.
“What the hell are you watching?” He questioned.
“The X-Files. It’s my favorite.”
You spent the next few hours watching The X-Files. You had put on an episode from the middle of season three, so you tried your hardest to fill in gaps for Rafe when he needed it. By the time you claimed you had to go home, Rafe was ready to go back and watch from episode one. Especially if it meant he got to hold you a little longer. But you just chuckled, shaking your head at the boy as you pulled on your shorts.
You leaned across the bed and placed a hand on his cheek.
“Next time, I promise,” You said before kissing him sweetly. His lips moved gently along with yours as your fingers stroked across his cheek.
It wasn’t until you were out the door after giving him another quick peck and a smile that realized the pattern your fingers had traced was random. It had been a smiley face. Another note for his collection.
If Rafe couldn’t get you out of his head before, you were stuck in it with super glue now. He didn’t text you for the next couple days, too busy overthinking every moment of his morning with you. You had done nothing sexual, but, to Rafe, it felt more intimate than anything else you had done up until then. He wasn’t sure what to do now, it felt like everything had changed. It scared him and excited him. He had thought your relationship was just physical to you. But you had stayed. You had cuddled with him and smoked with him and laughed with him and shared your favorite show with him. God, he loved listening to you talk about the things you were passionate about, even when that thing was a strange but surprisingly awesome alien crime show from the 90s. But you had stayed. You had burrowed yourself deeper into his heart while at the same time opening a whole new vault of vulnerabilities and fears in his mind. He didn’t want to break you, but he was also absolutely terrified that you might break him. He wasn’t right for you, and he knew that. It would be selfish if he let you in. Really, truly claimed you as his like he wanted to, pulling you out of his dreams and into reality. But, Rafe was a selfish person.
The stress and wonder of his relationship with you was flowing through his head when his father found him, sitting by the pool. Ward sat in the chair beside him, bringing up another thing Rafe had done wrong. He heard what his father was saying but didn’t really listen. He felt the anger boiling inside of him, all the emotions that had been building up this week were ready to burst out of him. So he let them.
The argument escalated quicker than it usually, Rafe and Ward at each other’s throats as they screamed in each other’s faces. Rose eventually ran out, trying to break apart the father and son to no avail. The fight ended with Ward yelling at Rafe to get out of his house and out of his sight, so Rafe complied.
When he sped out of the driveway on his bike, he wasn’t sure where he was going. Normally, he would have gone to Barry’s to do a line and complain and get lost in the euphoria the drugs brought him. But his heart had other ideas.
Rafe had never been this close to your front door, let alone inside your house. You always made him wait for you in the car. The one time he had tried walking up to the front door, you had met him halfway, nearly ripping his arm off with the force of you pulling him back to his bike.
He took a deep breath before knocking, praying that you would be home and wouldn’t be angry with him for turning up at your door in the middle of the day.
“Rafe?” You said as you opened the door. He couldn’t help but smile as you appeared in the doorway, just the sight of you enough to calm him down.
“I’m sorry for just turning up. I would have texted you but I just sort of ended up here. You know what actually, I should just go. Sorry for bothering you.”
He started to turn, trying to keep a cool exterior while inside he wanted nothing more than to run for the hills. But he was stopped by your hand taking his.
“Rafe,” You smiled at him, taking in his disheveled hair, slightly crazed eyes and red face, “it’s okay. Come in.”
You opened the door wider and pulled him through, closing it behind you. The fingers that weren’t gripping your own were fidgeting with the rings on his fingers, taking in his surroundings. This was completely new territory for him. He’d never been in your space before. The house itself was just slightly bigger than his and Sarah’s rooms combined. The kitchen and the living room were smushed together, the living room being the larger of the two. There was a short hallway  that led to a single door, with two other doors on either side of it. You led him to the kitchen, releasing his hand to grab a couple of glasses and fill them with water.
Rafe continued to take in the home, taking note of the toys and clothes strewn about. Jackets thrown over chairs, worn children and adult books sitting on the couch, a bowl of cereal left to sog up on the table. He’d never been in a home that looked so lived in before. He kind of liked it.
“Sorry it’s such a mess,” You said, handing him a water, “Three young children live here, so it always looks like a tornado has blown through.”
Rafe’s eyebrows shot up.
“Children?”
You laughed at his expression.
“Yeah, my niece and nephews. I live here with my sisters. My older one is the mother of the tornado. But, they all went to visit my uncle for a couple nights, so I have the house all to myself!”
Rafe absorbed the information your were giving him, storing it away in the part of his brain reserved just for you. He was realizing how little he actually knew about you. He knew nothing about your family, he’d never really thought about it before. He tried to picture you here, in this kitchen, three little kids running around while you stood with two other girls who looked similar to you.
“Sounds nice, peaceful,” Rafe commented.
“It will be. I miss them already, though. It’s been too quiet. Usually, the Pogues or at least Kie or Sarah would come keep me company, but they all have shit to do.” You moved closer to him and smiled up at him, cheeks heating up slightly as you spoke, “I’m glad you’re here.”
Rafe blushed instantly at your words, looking down at his feet to hide the smile growing wide on his face. He was so screwed. He thought of all the times he messed with Topper, calling him pussy-whipped. If only Topper could see him now.
“I’m glad I’m here too,” Rafe said, meeting your warm gaze.
The pair of you are silent for a moment, getting lost in each others eyes. You pull away first, taking a sip of your water before speaking.
“So, what’s up? Did something happen you look a little…wild.”
Rafe chuckled at your choice of adjective.
“My dad, he, uh…he kicked me out. I fucked up something, I can’t remember what but I’m sure I did it. We got in a huge argument and he told me to leave. It’s not the first time, I’ll go back in a few days and beg for forgiveness or something. I just…” Rafe sniffed rubbing his nose quickly on his arm. Rafe Cameron was not a cryer. He couldn’t remember the last time he had shed a tear. But standing here in your kitchen, feeling your understanding eyes on him, allowing him to talk about all the shit he’d been holding in for years about his father, he wasn’t afraid to let the dam break. The tears were quick and silent. He didn’t sob, but he felt his breath getting caught in his throat as the rivers ran down his cheeks.
“I just want to be a good fucking son.”
You pulled him into you. His head nestled into your neck, tears soaking the collar of your shirt. His arms wrapped around your waist, squeezing the breath from you but you didn’t care. You held him just as tight, whispering sweet things in his ear. A few minutes passed before the tears finally dried up. Rafe pulled away slightly, keeping his hands on your hips as he looked at you with swollen eyes.
“I’m sorry, fuck, I’m sorry I-”
“Shh, Rafe stop,” You took his face in your hands, forcing him to look directly at you, “Don’t apologize for having fucking feelings and crying when someone hurts them. Believe me, I live with three children under the age of six, we have a lot of crying going on around here. Sometimes you just have to let it out. Let it out, Rafe.”
Rafe closed his eyes, letting your words quiet his wayward mind. Your thumbs stroked his cheeks, taking the tears with them. You leaned forward and kissed both his cheeks before kissing his lips. He could taste his own tears on your lips. The kiss was short but he could feel the emotion in it. You pulled away slowly, leaning your forehead on his. For Rafe, however, you were way too far away.
His arms wrapped around your back, one hand cupping the back of your head and pulling you back to meet his lips. The kiss wasn’t as rough and sexually charged as the others you had shared. This one was more like your first kiss, filled with passion and emotion and a pure and unadulterated need to be close to another person.
It wasn’t long before Rafe’s hand made there way to the hem of your shirt, pulling it up over your head, placing it on the counter. You weren’t wearing a bra, and he groaned at the sight of your bare breasts. His hand moved down to your thighs, squeezing them. You understood his signal, arms wrapping around his neck as you jumped. You wrapped your legs around his waist, his hands supporting you on your ass as he moved you through the house.
“Which one is yours?” Rafe asked as he reached the hallway.
“Left,” You said before reattaching your lips to his. He kicked the door open. Opening his eyes for second to asses the layout of the room, he noticed two twin beds in pushed into the corners of the room.
“Which one’s yours?” Rafe asked again with a small smile.
“Right,” You said with a matching smile.
Rafe sat on the edge of the bed, making you straddle his lap. He pulled his shirt over his head, then leaned forward to take one of your nipples in his mouth, his hand moving to massage the other. You threw your head back, letting out a long moan. Rafe moved to the other boob, giving it the same treatment with his tongue. After a few minutes, Rafe tried to flip you onto your back, but you stopped him. You looked him right in his eyes, pupils blown with lust as your hand reached down to palm him through his shorts.
“I want to make you feel good, Rafe,” You whispered before leaning down to kiss his neck. The sinful moan he made went straight to your center. You moved off his lap, pushing him back until he was leaning against the head board. You pulled his shorts and boxers down, allowing his erection to spring free. You didn’t break eye contact as you undressed him, enjoying the blissful spark in his eyes as you ran you hands down his thighs. You stood up, shimmying out of your bottoms until you were fully naked and moved to straddle him again.
“I’m going to make you feel so good, baby. You deserve to feel good,” You said as you placed a few more open mouthed kisses on his neck. You reached down again to grasp his dick, giving it a few pumps before aligning it with your entrance. Rafe stopped you with a hand on your wrist.
“I don’t have a condom,” He said.
“It’s okay. I want to be close to you.” You said before sinking down onto him. You both moaned loudly, foreheads meeting in the space between you. You slowly started to rock your hips against Rafe’s, relishing in the feeling of him bare inside you, filling you up perfectly.
Rafe thought he had died and gone to heaven. He was convinced there could be nothing better than this, feeling you, all of you. He felt loved. Absolutely loved for once in his miserable life.
He gripped your hips, helping you speed up your movements. He kissed you again, catching your moans with his tongue while he released his own into you. You gripped his hair, pulling him as close to you as you could, until there was positively no space separating your bodies. Your hips started moving faster, Rafe moving you up and down to bounce on his cock.
“Rafe,” You moaned his name like a prayer.
“I’m getting close, angel,” Rafe whispered
“Don’t stop, please. Don’t stop, baby, I want you fill me with your cum.”
You reached down to rub your clit quickly, feeling your orgasm coming on quickly.
“Fuck you feel so good, angel. Make me feel so good,” Rafe moaned before sucking on the sensitive spot on your neck. You came with a moan of his name, head collapsing onto his shoulder as he continued to pump into you. His thrusts became faster as he chased his release. You kissed any piece of skin your lips could reach as his thrusts became sloppier, breathing heavier than before. He came loudly, grunting as he filled your pussy with spurts of white ropes. You rocked your hips lightly, helping him through his orgasm before stilling completely.
Your foreheads rested together, breath mingling in the space between. You sat like that for what felt like eternity, a moment frozen in time. You savored the feeling of Rafe’s cock in you, your combined juices leaking out of you and dripping down his shaft and your thighs. Rafe gave you a few gentle pecks, fingers massaging the back of your head. For a moment he felt complete, invincible, fucking incredible.
You stayed together until Rafe was completely soft in you. You reluctantly lifted yourself off his lap, the both of you whimpering at the loss of contact. You sneaked across the hallway to the bathroom, wiping yourself clean and doing your business. You returned to your room, grabbing your laptop from the trunk at the end of you bed and snuggled back up next to Rafe.
His eyes were still closed, head resting against the wall. He was so still you thought he might have fallen asleep, until his eyes opened and looked down at you, a lazy and utterly joyful smile gracing his features. You smiled back up at him, giving him a quick kiss before opening the laptop.
“Want to watch The X-Files?”
He grinned, wrapping an arm around you and snuggling deeper into the pillows.
“Oh, hell yeah.”
You giggled at his enthusiasm, clicking open the webpage and starting the episode.
Rafe held you tight in his arms, but for once he wasn’t afraid of you disappearing. As the sun beamed in through the blinds, casting light across your bedroom floor, Rafe allowed himself a moment to be selfish, and let his dreams see the light of day.

Hey! I hate to ask this, you already do so much for us! But would you mind just a tiny recap of Vlamis’ live from last night? You don’t have to go into a ton of detail or anything, I just saw that it was a half hour long. I have a weird anxiety thing that keeps me from watching lives and stories for the most. Still haven’t even been able to work myself up to watching the vlamburn one as much as I’d love to! 🙁
Either way, thank you for everything!
Okay, nonnie. I went and watched the whole thing again and wrote you a detailed account of what’s been said. I’ll link the live again, then you can watch here if you want to. Or not. Up to you. 🤗 Hope this helps. 💕
youtube
Brushing his teeth and flossing for 3 minutes while talking.
800 new follower lately “where have you been before?”
“Do you do anything to your hair at night?” He adds Moroccan hair oil in the morning, nothing at night.
“What’s your favorite of the drop?” He hasn’t seen everything from the drop (like the COSMIC tie-dye) bc he’s in Santa Fe. He loves the COSMIC and MALEX embroidered things (“so subtle”) bc they are in Vlamburn’s handwriting, he loves the Manesqueeze shirt bc you can make Alex and Michael kiss by putting your wrists together. He *loves* the candle (there’s one burning on his bedside table), the silky PJs are great, but he can’t decide on just one favorite thing.
“How’s Jesa’s sanity?” She needs like 3 weeks of sleep. He explains, that while we *are* the Vlambase, the Vlambase merch company’s just Jesa and Vlamis. Jesa has a team, but all the day-to-day things, ideas, emails/customer service (Jesa), the newsletter (Vlamis). They hadn’t collaborated with anyone before Tyler, so working with him was a new experience.
One fan mentions how they wanted to buy stuff but couldn’t. Vlamis says that he’s been there, and when he wanted something in the past he couldn’t afford, he started putting away a Dollar a day.
“Thought on One Direction?” Vlamis is a Harry Styles guy. “Harry Styles’ swagger is next level!”
“What do you think about Russia? Will Vlambase merch be available here?” Talks a bit about how annoying things are with shipping companies, says they wanted to protect themselves for the holidays, and now that the Christmas rush is over, some shipping options have become available again.
“Who came up with  MANESQUEEZE” He ponders about it, and settles on Jesa. It was Vlamis’s ides to put tiny Alex and tiny Michael on the sleeves so that they can kiss tho. And Tyler came up with the idea to put a “toupee” on his head (in a previous drop, the NEVER LOOK AWAY design had tiny Alex and tiny Michael on the sleeves, but poor Alex was bald) for the design.
Someone got a MALEX pin and the candle. He knows the pin sold out fast, and he feels bad about that. They want everyone to get everything they want, but it’s difficult to make proper calculations how well an item will sell. The pandemic made things even harder. Like the PJ sets. Normally, they would wait until the sale ends and see how many sets were actually ordered, but during the pandemic, stock listings have been changing dramatically from day to day, so they had to pre-order the PJs and robes to make sure they had a certain number at their disposal. He said that they “overshot” on a couple of things, but ultimately sales have been great, and he appreciates that.
“I’m excited to make the MANESQUEEZE doodles kiss bc I do that with the NEVER LOOK AWAY shirt” Vlamis jumps up and shows his closet that’s full of Vlambase merch items.
“Why am I here, it’s almost 3am” He mentions that he’s been staying up until 4 in the past couple of days, but he has to be on set in 7 or 8 hours.
“Hello, just wanted to let you know that I got a tattoo for you” Vlamis asks for a photo and to be tagged.
“Kyle the packer [Vlamis’s roomie KA, who works in the warehouse when a new drop is ready for shipping]” Vlamis says they’re working him to death.
“Please save this live” He doesn’t know whether he’ll save it. Thinks the one with Tyler was important, but since it’s just him, he doesn’t think it’s important.
“I followed Jesa, Jesa is the real MVP” Vlamis says that Jesa is “a beast, and best in the game”. Quickly explains who Jesa is, and that she’s his partner in the Vlambase merch company. He mentions that she recently called him with an idea for Valentine’s Day, and he was like “Jesa, we need to relax!” But she loved the idea. She’s a big fan of RNM and the characters (and Tyler). “Jesa’s amazing.”
“What about new Soli art [Soli’s the artist who created the Boys Will Be Boys art for a previous drop]?” Vlamis smiles. “What about new Soli art. I like that idea. 😏“
“Your house [in New Mexico] is so cute.” Vlamis says thank you and shows the ceiling of the house (which he likes best). “Santa Fe is dope!”
“I adore your teeth” *shows his teeth* Says he had to wear braces (some even adjustable)
“I could’ve used my birthday money to buy something but I forgot” 🤨 << Vlamis’s face. “How you you forget, man?”
“Back to Twitter after this live” He mentions that he’d just been on Twitter before the live.
He got retweeted by Mountain Dew and loves it.
“I’m from Australia and hope my merch arrives before winter” Vlamis says he hopes shipping will be fast.
“Love the Valentines” They’re not actually Valentines, hence they’re “Love Notes”.  Vlamis considers doing them not just around Valentine’s Day.
“You catch any of the CW shows returning this month?” “Might have to” But he knows what he’ll be catching on the 12th. “Prodigal Son, baby!”
“Where did you get the Game Boys?” Those are his Game Boys. He has a Game Boy Advanced and a Game Boy Color.
“How do you feel about Forlex?” *scoffs* 😒 “Yeah”
“So excited for the robe!” Vlamis gets excited. “The robes and the PJs are so comfy!” Talks about how it’s a bit weird, bc they don’t make them themselves.
Several people mention that their closet looks like his closet bc of all the merch and he loves that.
“How do you feel about Forlex” *gets agitated* “Why are you asking me this? Don’t do that to me, alright?” *softer* “Don’t do that.”
“How are you doing?” He’s doing very well. Very relieved that eh sale went well. This drop was like 3-4 months of work, the night before the sale felt like an entire month, too. Jesa and Vlamis Facetimed for more than 5hrs. They set up the website, and that’s how the glitch with the GIVE ME MALEX OR GIVE ME DEATH shirts and poster happened. They made a mistake and only noticed after the website went live.
“Do you know when S3 will air?” No, he thought it might’ve been sooner, but apparently not.
“I love your poetry from the last drop so why no poems this time?” He writes poems when he’s inspired, he hasn’t written a poem in a while. He’s currently preparing to direct his first movie in June 2021, and he’s been very focused on that.
“The Meet & Greet day changed.”  Filming schedule changed bc they had snow, the schedule’s changing constantly. He’ll be set all day tomorrow (well, today, Jan 11) from 8am until 8 or 9pm. Sometimes they might even wake up in the morning and learn that the schedule’s been changed.
“You could talk about nothing and we’d still watch.” He doesn’t want to talk about nothing, wonders if anyone has any questions about the sale.
“I’m so excited about the robe. I was going to buy more but I’m broke.” He says we should be responsible.
Someone’s still waiting about their Black Friday stuff, but he says it’s the shipping company, not them.
“Vlamentines" He *loves* that, thinks it’s a good pun.
“Gotta support Aurora.” Always. 🥰
“Jealous Guerin in S3?” You’ll see, you’ll see.
“I placed 3 orders, last one last night. Give me Malex or give me death.” He loves it. He also mentions, that they’re working hard on figuring out how to combine orders in the future so people don’t have to pay for shipping several times. They just can’t do that logistically at the moment.
“Real talk, how often do you check your DMs?” He says, that some people might’ve noticed that he occasionally likes random photos on people’s IG pages. When that happens, it’s a sign that he read someone’s DM. He feels bad when he checks his mentions with a delay, and people’s stories have already vanished after 24hours. He sometimes doesn’t get to checking DMs for a week.
“Will we ever get the original pic of the kiss recreation?” *smiles* *waggles his eyebrows* “Maybe in the morning”
“So happy the Trevor Project was chosen for this merch drop!” He’s very happy, too. According to him, it was a no-brainer. Tyler’s worked with them in the past, so it made even more sense. They wanted to make sure that Tyler felt very strongly about wherever they’d be donating.
People urge him to go to sleep. “You want me to go to bed?”
“Why is your merch not available in India?” *deep breath* “It should be, it’s ridiculous. Unbelievable.”
“Your poetry was awesome.” He appreciates the praise and promises to write some more poetry.
Someone asks whether the movie he’ll be directing in June will be a comedy, but he says it’s the opposite. He’s mentioned in the past that Aurora and him will both act in the movie, but apparently he forgot about that. He doesn’t want to jinx the movie and doesn’t know how much he should reveal just yet. Talks a bit about 5 Years Apart.
Someone mentions that it’s Jeanine’s birthday on January 14th.
“Do (or don?) a face mask, Vlamis.” He refuses. Mentions his friend and roommate Spencer Waldner, who makes face masks.
“If there’s leftover merch, will you do another sale?” He says that most things are actually sold out bc they use Blank Clo’s blanks and will only make what’s been ordered.  They might try to restock some pins tho, bc they went so quickly.
“USPS are a joke” He defends them. “They’re a public service, they’re trying hard, guys.”
“You should do a Vlambase drop with the Real Vlamis [a.k.a. Jeanie]” He’s excited and thinks it’s a good idea and asks if anyone’d be interested.
Someone congratulates him on directing his first movie. He points out that he’s directed before (Making It, a 3-part web series, it’s on YouTube).
“Would you ever come to Australia Comic Con?” He’d love to. Mentions that he’s supposed to be in Paris in May for a convention, but he’s not sure whether that’s gonna happen considering how things are currently going with the pandemic.
Some more talk about 5 Years Apart.
Circles back to doing a merch drop with Jeanine. People like the idea.
“Please save this live.” After an IG update, things have changed and he doesn’t know how to do it. In the past he had the option to save it [for 24hrs], now he can only upload it to IGTV.
“$30 shipping to Australia hurts my soul but I did it anyway.” He appreciates that and mentions, that he lived in Australia for 6 months in the past.
“Sing some Bright Eyes” He thinks his singing would hurt people’s ears.
Jesa Joy pops up in the chat and urges him to go to bed.
“Jesa is yelling at you.” Vlamis says that Jesa’s a “yeller”, and that she has a tattoo that says “Don’t yell tho”. He admits that Jesa often yells for a good reason. “I need to be yelled at sometimes.”
Someone asks him to accept a request to join his live. He says he’s pretty tired.
He says hello to someone from Germany (not me btw :P) “What’s up, Germany ✌️”
More people ask him to sing, but he says he cannot sing. He says it’s not like a joke  or him being modest, he straight up can’t sing and is a horrible singer.
“Will there be a sequel to 5 Years Apart?” Maybe a sequel called “10 Years Apart” (he’s joking and visibly tired)
“Should I buy anything before the sale ends?” Yes.
Jesa Joy’s from Michigan, and Vlamis’s grandma’s from Middlesborough, Kentucky.
“Is Tyler singing again?” He doesn’t know. “I hope so. Love that kid’s voice” (Tyler’s 3.5 years older than Vlamis :P)
He’s getting sleepy and will read a little bit before bed. Considers drinking some Mountain Dew.
“Do you take design ideas.” Sure. Sometimes he sees design ideas from people they’ve been working on for months, but he’s gonna “steal” an idea from someone, he’ll tell them. He’ll steal it, though.
“Are you still reading SAGA?” He read the first one and is half-way through the second. He’s currently reading a book called “My First Movie” by Stephen Lowenstein. “How cliché.” Aurora got it for him.
Purple Skittles are his favorite. Purple everything.
“Your girlfriend’s the best girlfriend.” She is, she really is.
Asks Jesa Joy whether he should go to bed now.Even though it’s late, he’s hungry. Considers eating something. People tell him to go to bed.
He asks “Should I get naked and put on the PJs?” *waggles eyebrows* “I’M KIDDING, YOU’RE SICK. YOU’RE ALL DISGUSTING.” xD
“Don’t eat!” He laughs.
Says goodbye and says that Jesa’s posted a surprise picture.
“Any advice for aspiring actors?” Tells them to make their own stuff bc no one’s gonna hire them. (He’s being sarcastic). “It’s dark, but it’s what you need to hear.”
“Okay, love you guys. Thank you again! It was our best sale yet. Means a lot to me. Means a lot to Tyler. Us doing so well might mean that Tyler will work with us again. So I really appreciate it. Okay, I love you all.”
Jesa promises to post the pic in 4 minutes. He’s excited. “See, I got her to do it! The picture is kind of ridiculous.”
*pretends to take off his shirt, stops halfway through* “Noooooo, noooooo, noooooo!”
*throws kiss* “Love you guys, good night.”

Kringg...Kringg...Kring…
‘Uh- the hell is that sound, can’t you see I’m sleeping’ I thought.
The ringing sound stopped for a while so I continued sleeping peacefully until.
Kringg…Kringg... Kring…
‘Oh come on again.’ I thought in my sleep again.
Once again the ringing stopped and I went back to sleep again.
Kringg....Kringg...Kringg…
“Aish what is that sound.” I said while looking for my phone on the nightstand.
I was pushing stuff off the stand until I found my phone. When I got it I realized that it was the one that was making the loud ringing noise.
“Agh- I was sleeping so well then I heard this aish. The hell its only ei-” I cut my rambling once I saw the details on my phone.
January 8, 2021 | Monday | 8:30 am
‘Shit, I’m LATE!’
I got up as quickly as I could and went straight to the bathroom. Since I’m already so late there was no time to take a shower and fix my hair and stuff. All I did was brush my teeth, comb my hair and started to put on my uniform. After putting on my uniform I went out of the bathroom and went straight to my front door to put on my shoes. I didn’t bother getting breakfast at this point, I can just eat something in the cafeteria. After putting on my shoes I got my school bag, coat and keys and went out of my apartment. Once I got out I saw Auntie Minjie getting ready to go out, to the grocery i guess since she there was a little shopping stroller beside her.
“Oh good morning Yuna!” Auntie Minjie Greeted me.
“Good morning Auntie Minjie! Sorry I really need to go now I'm super late for school!” I told her while running backwards towards the elevator.
“Have a good day and travel safe!” she told me while waving.
“Thank you! You too!” I yelled back still while running.
I was near the elevator and saw the doors slowly closing.
“WAIT!” I yelled and put my hand in between the doors before it closed so that It wouldn’t close.
I got inside and leaned on the elevator walls. The ground floor button was already pressed so I didn’t have to worry about that anymore. I closed my eyes while trying to catch my breath from all the running.
‘Ugh, what way to start the week’ I thought to myself
My hair was covering my face which was why I couldn’t really see whoever was inside the elevator as well. I didn’t even care who was inside. The only thing in my mind was getting to school before the bell rings. I checked the time using my phone and saw 8;45 am flashed on my screen. This was a huge problem. Still need to learn how to get to my school from my apartment. I hit my head 3 times and tried to compose a plan before getting off the elevator.
‘Ok so I’ll search for the directions on my phone, make a run for it and pray that I’ll be able to get to school on time.’ I formulated my plan in my head.
I opened my navigation app and placed my location and the school’s location. I loaded real quickly so I saw the calculations and directions for me to get to my school. It said that it was a 30 minute walk to my school from my apartment so if I run to school I might get there twice as fast and half the time.
Once the elevator doors opened I sprinted out the elevator and the building. I kept running while looking at my phone for the directions. I was halfway to my school until I tripped and scraped my knees. I saw that my shoes were untied. I guess I didn’t notice them getting untied while I was running.
“Aish you’re so stupid Yuna. You should’ve double tied your shoes so that this wouldn't have happened now you’re wasting time.” I said, talking to myself like a crazy person.
I got up again and checked my phone for the directions. I checked the time and it read 8:55 am. I only had 5 minutes left. I ran as fast as I could until I reached my school. When I arrived I was already 10 minutes late for class. I sprinted up the stairs up until the 3rd floor. I arrived at my classroom and opened the sliding door forcefully which made a loud noise. Every head in the classroom turned to me including the teacher.
“Kim Yuna late.” the teacher announced to the class.
“I’m sorry sir I woke up late this morning and-” I rambled.
“I don’t care about your excuses so go and take your seat. You’ve already disturbed the class.” the teacher snapped at me.
I bowed to him still as a sign of respect and quietly proceeded to my seat. As I walked across the room all eyes were still on me. Classmates of mine were whispering at each other and were chuckling while looking at me. I must’ve looked like such a wreck. I felt so humiliated that I kept my head down while walking. When I reached my empty seat, I saw my elementary friend, Lee Sungho sitting beside it.
“Hey Yuna, you alright…?” he asked me carefully.
Before I could answer him the teacher cut me.
“So what were we discussing before I was rudely interrupted by your classmate Miss Kim Yuna?” he said, emphasising the word rudely as if he was rubbing it on my face.
I heard a few of my classmates laughing before the teacher continued with his lesson. I’ve never felt so humiliated in my life that tears were brimming my eyes. I felt Sungho tap my shoulder lightly as a sign of comfort. I looked at him and gave him a small smile, assuring him that I was alright. After that I tried my best to focus on the discussion while  restricting myself from letting my tears fall.
*School Chime Ring*
“Class Dismissed. Everyone may now step out of the classroom except for Ms. Kim Yuna” the teacher said while fixing his things on his desk.
‘Well shit’ I thought to myself.
“Yuna-yah, I’ll wait for you outside,” Sungho told me. I bowed to him as an acknowledgment as he strutted out the classroom.
Slowly, I walked to the front of the classroom to Mr. Park’s table. He was fixing some papers on his desk when he lifted his head and looked at me very sternly.
“Miss Kim, I am quite disappointed with you. You are close to failing my class then I see you come to class 15 minutes late.” he said in a very strict manner.
“I’m sorry” I said, bowing my head.
“You are in your senior year. You know that grades are very important to pass your college. You better study and get your grades up. I don’t want to see you coming to class late again. If you continue to have bad grades, say goodbye to entering college because there is no way I will be passing you in my class.” Mr. Park said while grabbing his things and stepping out of the classroom.
I was left alone in the classroom with tears streaming down my face. As I felt them cascading down, I rubbed them off using the back of my hand. I got my things and went outside to meet Sungho who was waiting for me.
“Yah, you alright?” Sungho asked me. His face was full of concern.
“Hm… I’m alright.” I said hiding my sadness with a small smile.
We proceeded to go to the cafeteria for lunch. When we got there, students were lined up, some were even cutting in line just to get what they wanted. Sungho and I waited patiently in line. He sparked up a conversation about his funny experience during his soccer training yesterday. I laughed at all his stories which made my mood become better until.
“Yah move” she said in a very annoyed tone. She cut in line and was now infront of me.
Gwan Aeri. The girl who seems to be so annoyed with me everytime. I don’t know why she’s so annoyed with me since I never did anything to her. Plus, she’s my number one bully. She would push me around, embarrass me and all that stupid stuff. Good thing she wasn’t in Mr. Park’s class. If she was, I would be suffering a lot by now.
I saw her getting her food already so Sungho and I got our trays and started to get food as well. She didn’t get much only bread and milk. I saw her open the milk carton and turn towards me. She bumped me intentionally and “accidentally” spilled her milk on me. My uniform top was drenched in milk.
“Oops, sorry.” Aeri said to me without any sincerity.
All the students inside the cafeteria were looking at me. Some were whispering, somewhere chuckling at me again. Sungho took off his jacket and put it on my shoulders to cover me up. Tears were pricking my eyes again from the second time I got humiliated. I continued to get my food with Sungho. Sungho thought that it was better to eat out in the schoolyard rather than inside the cafeteria. We ate in silence. Sungho would sometimes spark up a conversation but I really wasn’t up to talk at that moment.
After lunch, classes continued and I really was not in the mood to listen to the teachers. I would sometimes doodle, stare at something or just zone out. The day miraculously ended really fast and I went home right away. I felt so physically and mentally drained. While walking home, pain from my scraped knee was now there so every step, there was always this stinging sensation.
I got home and entered the elevator. No one was inside so I sat down on the floor and let my tears fall freely. I hated this day. First I came in late while I scraped my knee, I got scolded and got milk poured all over me. I was completely done for today. When I entered my apartment I dropped my bag and went straight to bed, ignoring the huge amount of assignments I needed to accomplish, and took a really long nap.
I woke up and looked outside my window and saw that it was already dark. The nap helped me recharge physically but I was still tired mentally. I didn’t know what got into me but I found myself going to the building's veranda and just enjoying the city’s view. To be honest, this was the most relaxing part of my day. I was drowning myself in the city’s noise and view until I heard the door to the veranda open. I was ready to tackle this person down but was then surprised to see who was there.
“Oh, Yuna-yah annyeong!” Taeil Oppa said.
“Taeil Oppa annyeong!” I said back less nervous knowing that we’ve already met.
He sat beside me while looking at the view. We both enjoyed the silence until he spoke up.
“How was your day? I saw you sprinting out the elevator this morning.” he said while I was shocked.
“H-how di-”
“I was the one inside the elevator with you. Didn’t know that you didn't notice me. I was about to call out to you until you ran out once the doors opened.” he said to me which made me remember everything that happened that day again. Tears were brimming my eyes again and Taeil Oppa took notice of it while staring at my face. Before I could answer his question earlier he spoke again.
“You know, whenever I feel down or frustrated I would always come up here and relax to let out everything.” he said and I looked at him. He was looking out into the horizon while speaking then his eyes were back to me.
“You don’t have to keep it to yourself. You don’t have to stop yourself from crying. You can let it all out.” he said in the softest voice.
With this, tears fell down my cheeks nonstop. Taeil Oppa pulled me to his chest and hugged me tightly and I cried my heart out. I cried for a while but he never let me go. When I stopped crying and had already collected myself Taeil Oppa spoke again.
“I hope you feel better now since you’ve let it all out.” he said and smiled at me and I smiled back.
“Thank you Oppa.” I said to him while still smiling.
“You know it's getting quite chilly already. How about we go to our apartment and we’ll have some ramen.” he said.
“I-uh thank you for the offer but don’t want to disturbed you guys.” I said trying to politely decline but he still insisted.
“ No, no it's alright, we’ve got the day off tomorrow so it's no problem.” he said.
“We’ll if it won't be a problem to you guys” I said
“Ok lezgetit” he said in a high tone which made me giggle.
We both went to the door and he opened it for me. I went inside and he followed.
‘That was the comfort that I needed’

Out Tonight (Part 3)
<- Part 2 | Part 4 ->
Summary: The morning after your drunken karaoke hookup with Rafael Barba
Rafael Barba x female reader
Warnings: Mature content (no smut), very dubious consent due to alcohol, SVU-typical topics discussed
1,850 words
Tumblr media
The light was what woke him up. Even behind his eyelids, the light was a gnawing pain that irritated him out of what had been an extremely heavy sleep. When he at last gave in to the inevitability of consciousness and opened his sluggish lids, the light seared into his retinas and stabbed him like a dagger through the optic nerve, making him hiss and pull the covers over his head.
In short, Rafael Barba awoke with a splitting hangover.
Groaning and shielding his eyes from the blaze with a palm cupped to his forehead, he peeked out of the covers and swiveled his head around. He was lying in a bed that was not his bed, in a room that was not his room. Based on the narrow size of it, the big screen TV at the center, and generic art on the walls, it was clearly a hotel room. The sun shone angrily in through the window, reflecting harshly off the windows of adjacent skyscrapers.
Something heavy and warm moved in the bed next to him, and made a low noise. At that moment, he realized there was an arm draped around his waist. His head throbbed painfully as his heart sped up.
You opened your eyes with a yawn, stretching your arms above your head, then propped yourself up on your elbow with a drowsy smile. “Morning, Rafael.”
He blinked at you, eyes wide and unbelievably pale green in the daylight, with his pupils contracted to dots. “Hello,” he greeted with bewilderment and impending panic that he haphazardly stuffed down inside a well-trained disguise of professional courtesy, though several of its seams were ripping already, only two syllables in.
“Last night was… something,” you murmured, eyes squinted into narrow slits. You were calm and pleasant, but there was a trace of hesitation in your voice, like you were nervous, or hiding something. It was enough to arouse his suspicions. You knew what was happening. You knew his name and weren’t surprised to find him in your bed, or yourself in this room.
“Where am I?” he said sternly, words short and clipped. “Who the hell are you?”
Your eyes opened wide at that, then scrunched closed again with a pained grunt that brought your hand to your face. You opened them again slowly, gradually adjusting to the light, and squinting at him in confusion you rasped, “What?!”
He was convinced of it now. He’d seen enough cases like this, taken enough witness testimony, to understand exactly what had happened to him. “You drugged me,” he growled. “You think you can get away with drugging an A.D.A.? Was this for some kind of… of blackmail?”
“Drugged you? What the fuck?” Your eyes filled up with confusion, hurt, and fear. You scrambled away toward the headboard, wincing. “Are you saying you don’t remember anything? No,” you shook your head, laughing nervously, “This… this is one of those weird pickup artist games so you don’t have to call me, right?” But there was no recognition in his eyes, only a cold, impersonal glare. Your hands flew to your mouth.
His resolution that you were some sort of predator faltered as he watched you panic, and you seemed so small and frail, and scared. It made no sense that he would wake up with no memory of last night, though. Rafael Barba was always in complete control of himself. He did not drink to excess—he rarely even got drunk—and he would never have gone home with a stranger.
As he collected the fragments of his thoughts, however, he began to shape a different story. The splitting headache and fuzziness in his mind was familiar—he recognized it from sophomore year at Harvard, and a party with the legacies who shared last names with wings of the library where he had been peer-pressured into drinking so much he blacked out. He ended up being blamed for the whole thing, while his wealthy “friends” didn’t get so much as a stern lecture. That day, he learned a valuable lesson about never letting his guard down. But a dim memory came back from the night before—he remembered being devastated by the result of a trial. He remembered nothing had been going right. And he remembered drinking.
If he was that drunk… if he couldn’t remember what he did…
He was stuck to the inside of his pants with dry semen. You had pulled away so that you were no longer under the blankets, and his chest constricted when he saw your shirt and bra torn open, and angry bruises and bite marks covering your neck all the way down to your breasts. Your face was drained of color, and you stared at him with terror when you spotted the direction of his gaze, swiftly closing your blouse. “Oh god,” he croaked. He had seen images just like this hundreds of time, submitted into evidence. He had heard this story a hundred times, too: a normally harmless man gets drunk and assaults someone, then later feigns innocence because he couldn’t remember the crime. Barba had put away men like that, with never an ounce of pity for their excuses. It wasn’t you. He felt nauseous. Blood pounded in his ears.
“What did I do?” His throat was so dry. He swallowed hard, and swallowed again, but the horrible dryness remained. “Oh god, what did I… Did I do anything inappropriate? Are you hurt? Oh god.” He blinked, glancing around the room to anchor himself to his surroundings. Big hotel flat-screen. Bathroom door. Tiny office desk with his Brioni suit jacket folded over it sloppily. He didn’t remember taking it off. “OK,” he breathed. “I need to establish a timeline. We need to determine if any… if any crimes were… Oh god.” He scrubbed his face with his palm and left his hand clamped over his mouth. He sexually assaulted someone and his life was over. He was one of the monsters he put away.
“What the fuck is happening?” you half-whispered, the corners of your lips pulling taut into a grimace as your hungover mind spun to catch up with the emotional whiplash of the last sixty seconds.
His eyes were glassy with unspilled tears, but he tried to smile comfortingly, like he might to a hesitant witness in a trial. “Look, I’m a lawyer. I… I know the detectives in the Special Victims Unit,” he said. You shot back a skeptical glance, and he realized that probably sounded like a veiled threat. “I can give you Sargent Benson’s number. They won’t go easy on me if you press charges, trust me. I’m sure some of them would be happy to handcuff me for how difficult I make their lives. Obviously, I’ll plead guilty to any charges, but first we need to convince the grand jury to indict...”
Your face had worked through several stages of confusion, cringing, and brow-raising, and finally your brow pinched together and your grimace broke into the dark, guilty grin of someone laughing at something that was probably too serious to laugh at.
“Rafael, you really...” you covered your eyes and shook your head, “You are really obsessed with proving you’re a rapist; I think your job is doing something to your brain. Maybe you need a vacation.”
His mind had been working a mile a minute to uncover the crime that would explain the mystery of his distressing circumstances, first accusing you, and then himself of being the perpetrator. But, he had been told more than once that he could be high-strung at times. Maybe there was no crime, legally speaking. At least, he was relieved he hadn’t done something awful. It was still unclear who you were, and why you felt comfortable taking advantage of someone who was severely impaired by alcohol. There was something else… something just out of reach in the smoky nebula of his memory.
“What do you know about my job?” he asked, eyes narrowed.
“You told me about it last night!” You sighed heavily, and scooted closer to him. “Tranquilo, Rafael. Cálmate.” You gently pressed his shoulders as you searched his eyes. He flinched away from your touch, and you frowned. “You really don’t remember me? Jesus, you were drunker than I thought. It’s a good thing we didn’t fuck.”
“We didn’t?”
“No. You wanted to, but I told you you were too drunk!” You poked his chest in a playful I-told-you-so way, but when he returned only a strained glare, your hand dropped sheepishly to your side.
He was puzzled and disturbed. Most strangers mistook him for a gringuito, but you just told him to calm down in Spanish. You had obviously spoken at length. But he couldn’t remember. And there was something about you he couldn’t put his finger on, something that felt important. It probably wasn’t. Whenever he forgot something he meant to say, it grated at his brain for the longest time, and when he finally remembered, it was always something like, “I prefer Cheez Doodles over Cheetos.”
There was something in the way you were looking at him, almost mournfully that stirred up a lost feeling. He wondered what he had said to you last night—what kind of reckless flirt drunk-Barba had been to leave you so heartbroken this morning. He would have felt guiltier, but his head was being squeezed in a lead vice, and he was in no mood to tolerate fools. Maybe you hadn’t intended it, but you had taken advantage of a moment of weakness, and he was done with the whole sordid incident.
“I’m sorry if I gave you the impression that…” He winced as he stood up from the bed, his underwear yanking on the pubic hair glued to it with dried cum.
“Please, stay and use the shower,” you offered, but it was more like a plea.
“Well, I certainly can’t go out like this,” he snipped. His shirt was wrinkled, and his slacks ruined, with the embarrassing pièce de résistance of the crispy, stiff area at his crotch which could not escape anyone’s notice. He could only imagine what his hair was doing.
Your eyes followed him as he bustled around the small room wearing a sour expression, checking the closet for, and gratefully finding, an ironing board. They kept following him until he closed the bathroom door behind him, and he was left alone with your helpless eyes still hanging in front of him in his imagination, and the strange way they made him feel. He had a million questions for you, but he was certain he did not want the answers.
It’s not as if this story could have had a happy ending, anyway. He was an A.D.A. with a career in the public eye, and this was already bordering on a scandal. Drunken hookups with party girls at bars never ended well. It was better to just forget.

Galactica, Chapter 42 (Group Fic) - TheDane/Veronica
A/N: Hello darlings! The saga continues… Click here if you’re looking for previous chapters (or here if you’d rather read on AO3). 💫
Last Chapter: Pearl’s eye started to wander and Violet set out on a quest to truly prove herself.
This Chapter: Aiden struggles with envy, Adore learns something extremely disturbing about her girlfriend, and Violet makes a friend in the park.
***
“Oof!” Katya held the sweater she was knitting in front of her face, blocking the view of the TV. “Oh god, that scene gets me every time.”
“I can see why this is one of your favorites.” Violet smiled, her pencil paused on her sketchpad as she watched Nancy’s powertrip, The Craft a surprisingly good film.
They were sitting on the couch in Trixie, Katya and Pearl’s apartment, Katya sending Violet a text if she wanted to come down and watch a movie.
Violet had learned early on that Katya despised people who were on their phones while watching movies, but that crafts were allowed, which was probably also why Katya had asked her specifically since Max was out of town. Pearl, Kim and Shangela were all on the no movies list, while Trixie was apparently walking on ‘thin fucking ice’ as Katya herself had said.
“I was a witch once.” Katya smiled, going back to the pink sweater with purple clouds she was knitting, the size of it making it clear that it was for Trixie. “Who doesn’t like a side of blood magic?”
Violet smiled, shaking her head as she turned her attention halfway back to her sketch, her hand doodling flowers along the lapel of the jacket she was working on.
***
“Kiara?”
Aiden was having a perfectly good day until she came over.
It was a little after lunch, the cafeteria serving the chicken he liked. He’d been working on some sketches, fairly satisfied with his progress so far, the days going by so fast.
He was on track to have almost 10 different looks finished by the end of the day when they had to turn them in, and so he was certain that he’d be getting into the Spring collection.
He had been perfecting a sleeve, when his pleasant thoughts had been rudely interrupted by Violet’s voice, as she approached their station to talk to Kiara.
“Hi,” Violet was holding a black portfolio in her hands, her pink nails tapping on the black vinyl. She was wearing a pair of black high waisted pants, a belt cinching in her waist and a long sleeved silk top. “I was wondering if I could see what you were working on for the Spring prêt-à-porter collection?”
“Sure? Kiara looked surprised, but she still grabbed her own stack of sketches, Kiara one of the few designers that still preferred to do everything by hand. “Why?
“I heard that you’re doing a jacket,” Violet put her portfolio down, “and I’m thinking of doing a jacket, so I just want to make sure we’re not submitting the same thing.”
Of course Violet was thinking of submitting a jacket.
“Scared of the competition Chachki?” Aiden was about to reach for his own sketch, his centerpiece for his spring submissions a jacket as well.
“No?” Violet looked at Aiden, her big brown eyes unblinking. “Why would I be?”
Aiden was about to open his mouth to respond when he realized that there was no point, his hand falling down.
That girl was just so incredibly condescending, and he hated her for it.
“Here we go.” Kiara said, gesturing to her sketches, tapping on the 3 versions of the jacket that she was going to submit.
“Hmm.” Violet peered at them, nodding. “Good. We’re not doing the same at all.”
“I showed you mine. Are you gonna show me yours?” Kiara asked, and Violet giggled, pulling out her own sketches.
“Deal,” she said, flipping open the portfolio.
As curious as he was, Aiden decided not to look, burying his head in his own work, now more determined than ever to get that jacket spot.

“Babyyy, pay attention to meeee,” Adore whined, tugging on Pearl’s top, attempting to nuzzle into her neck as they were on the bed. Pearl had invited her over for dinner, but the second they’d finished Katya’s famous twice-baked potatoes and garlic chicken (and several bottles of wine), she’d pulled out her laptop and begun working on content for Galactica’s new website.
Adore had never seen Pearl work after hours before. She was slightly shocked to see her do any real work, to be honest, imagining her position at Galactica to be purely schmoozing with brand reps and taking high-profile selfies at fancy events.
“Sorry, I have to finish this shit tonight.” Pearl finished the last of her wine and pressed a quick kiss to Adore’s forehead before going back to her computer, her fingers flying over the keyboard, Pearl actually typing at a surprisingly impressive speed.
“But…” Adore knew she was being a brat, but really, what was Pearl’s rush to finish something this late anyway? Would anyone even be ready to receive it? “Please-”
“Dore,” Pearl sighed, actually looking down at her. “I need to turn it into the site designers before midnight tonight. I thought I’d have time at work, but there was an influencer emergency and you know how those bitches get.”
Adore didn’t, in fact, know how influencers got, the realization that she knew absolutely nothing about Pearl’s work slowly creeping over her.
“I tried asking for extra time, but Fame said no.” Pearl pressed space, her short nails clacking against the black keys of her Macbook. “And unfortunately, eating her pussy right now for a favor is out of the question.” Pearl huffed. “Believe me. I tried.”
“What?” Adore’s hand froze on Pearl’s waist. “You tried what?”
“Eating her pussy?”
Adore sat up, rocking the bed. “Pearl!”
“What? You know that me and Fame used to hook up. We’ve done it for years.” Pearl turned to her with a curious expression. “They didn’t tell you?” Pearl raised a brow. “Huh.” She bit her lip, going back to her laptop. “I thought for sure they would when they were all freaked out about us getting together.”
“They?” Adore asked, trying to keep her voice from getting shrill.  “Who is they?”
“Fame mostly” Pearl shrugged, “but I thought Bianca would have had something to say.”
“Wait, so...sorry.” Adore squeezed her eyes shut, trying to clear her mind before asking, “You and Fame used to hook up, and Bianca knew about it?”
“I assumed? I don’t know for sure, but why else would your sister hate me?” Pearl paused typing, a cheshire grin on her face. “I’m delightful.”
Adore could feel her heart pounding in her throat.
“And you… You were gonna...you were gonna cheat on me with her?”
“Cheat? Wha - No!” Pearl closed her laptop, putting it to the side before she turned to Adore, shaking her head. “I’m not cheating.”
“It sure as shit sounds like it.”
“We never talked about being exclusive? So I just figured…” Pearl shrugged, and Adore wanted to hit her. “You’re a really cool girl, and I thought you didn’t care about stuff like that.”
“Well…” Adore’s mind raced. She’d been so ready to get angry, throw an absolute fit, but Pearl calling her cool was having the effect of pouring aloe onto inflamed skin. “I mean...I guess that’s true, we never talked about it.”
“It’s 2014. Everyone who’s not an absolute square is open these days,” Pearl continued.
“Is that… I mean, so…” Adore swallowed hard. “So you want an open relationship?”
“I’m not running around town fucking everyone I meet, if that’s what you’re thinking. I just think like… We know how we feel about each other? So why worry about oppressive hetero-normative rules?” Pearl punctuated her question with a charming smile, and Adore could feel herself melting.
“Yeah, that...makes sense.”
“See, this is why you’re the fucking best.” Pearl closed her laptop and kissed Adore gently, cradling her head, and every last ounce of anger dissipated into thin air.
Well...anger at Pearl, anyway. She’d deal with Miss Goddamn Fame and her traitorous sister tomorrow.
“Don’t you need to work?” Adore asked, pressing into Pearl’s embrace.
“I’ll go in early tomorrow,” Pearl said, moving her lips to Adore’s neck.
Adore sighed happily, lavishing the attention, sure that being with Pearl was worth it.

Courtney had gotten to the office before 6 am to prepare for the Friday design meeting--organizing the nearly 400 sketches into categories, making scans and copies and mounting the originals on card stock, each one numbered for easy reference. In the end, she had a tabbed binder for each of the attendees with high-quality copies, just barely finishing by the time Miss Fame strolled in at 9:30.
They’d been at it for awhile now, and what had begun as an orderly review with everyone on the same page had devolved into chaos, tension high as people defended their opinions. She stood in the corner of the conference room, feet already aching in her 4-inch heels, trying to follow the rapid-fire conversation, Raja and Trixie bickering about pant length and Pearl tearing out the pages she didn’t like, tossing them to the floor.
“This skirt on 42 is nice, but it looks complicated. How much would it cost to manufacture it?” Pearl passed a sketch to Bendela, who was the head of the tailoring department.
Bendela examined it closely, before proclaiming, “At least $700.”
Pearl pulled it out of her hands, dropping it on the floor with the other rejects. “Bye!”
“Well, hey now…” Alyssa flipped to the same sketch in her own binder. “Maybe it wouldn’t work for the stores, but it’s still good. Could we save it for a potential runway look?”
Pearl rolled her eyes. “Sure, but that’s not what we’re doing today.”
“Why don’t we put it aside and give Jovan some notes for runway?” Trixie suggested.
“That’s literally what I just said,” Alyssa snapped.
“I know, I’m agreeing with you!” Trixie exclaimed, handing her a fresh Red Bull. “Here, have some more gogo juice.”
“I really like this top on 27, but it would have to be a bit shorter to work with the other separates,” Alaska drawled, and Raja nodded, jotting down a note on the corresponding page of her binder.
“Yes, it’s pretty. What do you think, Fame?” asked Raja.
“It would be pretty, if it wasn’t in this disgusting color,” Fame said.
“Non-disgusting color coming right up!” Trixie said cheerfully, scribbling a note on the page.
“Trixie, I do not appreciate your tone.”
“Sorry Miss. You want to see something great? Check out Maxwell’s suit options. Starting on 104. He really outdid himself this year.” Trixie let out a loud chef’s kiss.
“Awww, thanks coach!” Maxwell said.
Courtney shifted, stretching a little, and noticed that Miss Fame had finished her coffee. Relieved for an excuse to move, she slipped from the meeting, grabbing her coat on the way to the elevators. She got Fame’s usual order as quickly as possible, along with her preferred apple cinnamon muffin to have on stand-by in case her blood sugar was having its usual pre-lunch dip, and returned to the 25th floor, shocked at the face that greeted her in the lobby when the elevator doors opened.
“Adore?”
“Courtney! Thank god. This bitch wouldn’t let me into Fame’s office-” Adore gestured towards Roxy, irritated, who gave her an equally dirty look in return, “And I need to talk to her.”
“Well…” Courtney beeped her access card, shooting Roxy an apologetic smile and saying, “Thanks, I got it.”
Once inside, she tossed her coat over her chair and turned back to Adore, who was rattling the doorknob of Fame’s office like a crazy person, pounding on the door.
“Fame? Fame, open up!”
“Adore…” Courtney touched her lightly on the shoulder. “She’s not in there. She’s in a meeting, with like, the whole senior design and marketing teams right now, and-”
“Well, I need to talk to her, right away.” Adore was clearly agitated.
“Are you okay? Can I-”
“No! I’m obviously not okay! I need to talk to her, now-”
“Okay. You wanna wait here until they break for lunch?” Courtney asked. “I can’t really ask her to leave without-”
“No, I want to talk to her. If you don’t want to interrupt, I will. I don’t give a shit about her meeting.” Adore charged forward, and Courtney caught her by the shoulders.
“Wait! Okay, I’ll tell her you’re here and that it’s urgent. Please, just…”
Adore seemed to begrudgingly accept this plan, crossing her arms and sitting on the edge of Courtney’s desk. “Two minutes and then I’m coming in.”
Courtney took a deep breath and made her way towards the conference room, trying not to wring her hands on the way. She was worried for whatever was making Adore so upset, but she also couldn’t help but roll her eyes a little at her demanding attitude. It wasn’t something that reared its head terribly often, but when it did...hoo boy. Spoiled brat Adore was by far the worst version of Adore--petulant, entitled, unyielding. Courtney prayed that she would get through this tantrum without a scene.
Courtney re-entered the conference room, handing Miss Fame her coffee and then turning to a fresh page in her notebook and scribbling out a note, trying to be as concise as possible.
Adore Delano here. Very upset. Needs to talk. Says it’s urgent.
She underlined “urgent” before showing it to her boss, hoping that she wouldn’t get scolded for her friend’s behavior.
Fame glanced at the note and then stood up, clearing her throat.
“I have to go attend to a family matter,” she announced, “but I’ll be back shortly.” She gestured vaguely to the empty chair beside her seat, indicating that Courtney should stay and take notes.
Courtney quickly sat down, pulling over Miss Fame’s binder.
***
When Miss Fame entered her office suite, Adore was there, pacing around. She looked physically fine, which was a relief, but Fame was still concerned, knowing that Adore wouldn’t come to her, not in the middle of the day like this, unless something terrible had happened.
“Hello darling, what on earth is going on-”
“Don’t fucking darling me!” Adore snapped, catching her off guard, and Fame took a deep breath, opening her door to her office and ushering Adore inside before firmly shutting it. For one thing, it would give them some privacy. And for another, it would make sure that no one passing by saw Adore’s messy hair and booty shorts.
“Is anybody hurt?”
“Fuck you!”
Fame sighed, locking the door. If she was going to screech like a maniac, they may as well have as much soundproofing as possible.
“Now, Adore-” Fame began, but Adore immediately interrupted.
“What the fuck do I have to do for y’all to stop treating me like a fucking child?!” Adore burst out, and Fame couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow.
“A child? Since I was at your 15th birthday, I don’t think that’s very fair-”
“Don’t change the subject!” Adore shouted, looking genuinely upset, her hand shaking.
“What is the subject, dearheart?” Fame took a step forward, but Adore stepped back. Fame could feel her panic rising, wondering if something was actually wrong with Bianca, if anyone had gotten hurt. “I think we missed a step here-”
“Pearl! Pearl, is the fucking subject!” Adore jabbed a finger against her chest, Fame looking down.
“Adore!” No one had done that to Fame since she was a child, the action incredibly upsetting and weird.
“Specifically,” Adore poked her, “you,” poke “fucking her.” Adore looked up, her eyes filled with anger. “Is that clear enough?”
“Oh.” Fame’s heart sank, the secret apparently out. The last thing she ever wanted was for Adore to get hurt, but here they were. “How did you…” Fame looked over her shoulder, making sure the door was locked, hoping that Courtney was still in the conference room.
“Look at me!”
“How did you find out about this-”
“Pearl told me!”
Fuck.
“She apparently thought that you’d told me already.”
“Good god.” Fame closed her eyes briefly, cursing herself for not being more explicit with Pearl back in September. “She really shouldn’t have done that.”
“She?!” Adore yelled. “Why didn’t you? Why do you all fucking tiptoe around, protect me like I’m a goddamn infant?!”
“Adore-”
“I’m 24 fucking years old! Half of your employees are younger than me, and I know for a fact that you don’t treat them like delicate little babies-”
“Please. Calm down, I don’t-” Fame held up her hands. “Please.”
“I’m not a child.”
“You want the truth? The grown-up truth?”
“Yes!”
“Me not telling you about my…” Fame made a vague gesture, “history with Pearl. That wasn’t to protect you. That was to protect myself.”
“What…” Adore looked momentarily thrown by this, her anger replaced with confusion, and Fame pulled her onto the sofa, taking the opportunity to grasp one of her hands.
“She’s my employee, Adore.” Fame rubbed her thumb over Adore’s hand, gently caressing it. “We may have had an understanding between us, but…” Fame sighed. “Nobody else would--could understand.”
“You mean like your husband?” Adore shot back, face twisting once more into anger. “I can’t believe you would cheat on him, that you would-”
“I would never ‘cheat’ on Patrick. He knows everything. You don’t need to worry about my marriage. But I mean that if my...Interests came out publicly, it would be very damaging to my professional reputation. That’s what I feared.”
“And you didn’t trust me?”
“I don’t trust anybody with things like this, Adore. So instead of telling you, I just...broke things off with her, and made sure she knew how much I love you. That I would be very angry if she mistreated you.”
Adore bit her lip, taking in what Fame had said, her blue eyes misty. “You went behind my back and told my girlfriend to be nice, or she’d be in trouble? Don’t you see how fucked up that is?”
“I’m sorry. It was a bad decision, but it wasn’t because I was trying to baby you. It was...it doesn’t matter. I can see now that I should have told you instead.”
“Yes. But…” Adore sighed. “I guess I understand why you didn’t.”
“I’m glad,” Fame said. “Thank you for that.”
She pulled Adore close, hugging her tightly, trying to show how sorry she was. When Bianca had taken custody of Adore nearly ten years earlier, Fame felt like she shared the responsibility to look out for her.
She knew, of course, that sometimes that meant that she was overprotective, and maybe even patronizing, but she couldn’t help it: Adore would always be a sweet baby to her, someone who had been through hell far too young, who deserved to be a bit spoiled and sheltered.
“There’s one more thing I need to know,” Adore said, still chewing on her lip.
“What is it?”
“Does my sister know?”
Fame took a deep breath, tucking a lock of Adore’s fading purple hair behind her ear. “She does. But she’s the only one. Besides Patrick. And now you. And she promised me, swore on her life, that she’d never tell.”
“Hmm.”
***
“We’ll get the results tomorrow, and it isn’t that I’m like, nervous nervous, I just hope I have done a good enough job-”
Sutan smiled as he listened to Violet chat, the fact that she was actually sharing her honest feelings about Galactica’s prêt-à-porter collection feeling like a big deal.
Sutan had asked Violet out for lunch since he was already in midtown for a meeting, the two of them now walking hand in hand around Central Park, Sutan drinking coffee while Violet was sipping on tea. The air was crisp, Autumn leaves covering the ground, the people of New York taking in the beautiful day.
“Sutan!” Sutan felt a pull on his hand, Violet stopping dead in her tracks. “Sutan, look!”
He turned his head, not even registering what was happening before Violet had shoved her tea and bag into his arms, letting go of him to make a beeline towards a couple that were walking a small dog.
“Excuse me-” Violet cleared her throat, catching the couple’s attention. “Can I pet your dog? Please?”
“Of course!”
The couple smiled, and Sutan watched as Violet crouched down on the ground, quickly taking off her gloves and handing them to Sutan so the pug could sniff her fingers.
“Hey there, hello gorgeous, hi,” Violet smiled, her hand soon running over the puppy’s head, scratching it behind the ears. “That’s it, that’s a good boy.”
Sutan tilted his head. He had never seen Violet interact with a pet before, and somehow, he had assumed that she would be either a pet hater or a cat person, but she looked genuinely happy, and completely in love with the dog.
“What’s his name?”
“Dough. It’s his first trip to Central Park, he’s been looking forward to it all week.”
“Really?” Violet looked up, her smile never wavering as she chatted with the couple about the dog. “Oh Sutan, look how cute he is.”
“He’s very-”
“Who’s a good boy?” Violet grinned, cutting off Sutan as she scratched the pug’s chin. “Who’s a good boy?”
Sutan took a sip of his coffee, hiding a grin as Violet’s bag dug into the crock of his elbow. He had never seen Violet so willingly talk to strangers, had never seen her be so overly excited about anything that wasn’t related to fashion. He took another sip, pocketing Violet’s gloves as he watched her play with the dog, a sense of calm washing over him as Violet made Dough chase his own tail.

The Movie Party (SC Titanic, Zetta x Adele Series, Ch. 17)
Tumblr media
So, folks, the SC Titanic Zetta x Adele Series has come to an end: this is the final chapter. It’s time for Zetta and Adele to have a reunion at last.
I want to thank all those who supported this crazy project of mine. This series has been quite important and will somehow still be, even if the original story is no longer available and it’s the end. But I will be grateful to the authors who crafted it: it was one of the few times I felt truly seen as represented as a wlw in a game.
You must forgive me if this chapter will be a bit longer but I wanted to bid a farewell to the various characters who made this story one hard to forget. It’s the finale: you either go big or go home, right? And you will find the explanation of the title of the series, if you haven’t figured it out already...
Little disclaimer-favor: especially since the tags don’t seem to be working anymore, if you do enjoy it, please consider supporting the author & sharing this. A little gesture that means a lot!
Stay tuned next week for the Epilogue!

___________________________
The night of the Surviving the Titanic premiere, I walk into the venue at the arm of Richard, my little Napoleon in tow, 'fashionably late' as my fiancé puts it. We are greeted by the flash powder and shouts of the reporters and the awe of the guests gathered in the dashing foyer, waiting in line to show a steward their invitation. I wave at them, smiling and searching the crowd, while Richard tips his hat. Sadly, I do not see any familiar face or I don't recognise any before we walk past them and disappear behind the red velvet curtains of the auditorium. Another steward takes care of our coats while a colleague leads us to the honorary seats reserved for us and the rest of the crew.
We seat and wait. To keep my mind busy, I fix Richard's bow tie leaning to the side. I chat a bit with Sabine and compliment her outfit once again: I'm touched she decided to wear the pearl headband I gifted her when I made it into the movie industry. A birthday gift: she kept repeating she couldn't accept a gift like that but eventually I prevailed. Seeing it again after all those years...I'm so grateful she didn't listen to me and refused to bring it with her on our trip to Europe: "I'd rather not, Madam: I don't think I will have occasion to wear it", she said. I'm incredibly happy she deemed this night a right occasion. I'm so used to see her in her maid uniform that I forgot how she looks in an evening gown and the little detail makes her look like the friend she is to me. I'm pretty happy and proud of my outfit too. I picked it myself: I knew exactly what I wanted when I commissioned it to a New York fashion designer à la mode. I don't usually wear black, I much prefer colors, but lately I've been reconciling with it. And it seemed appropriate for the night: black is the color of mourning, right? What is tonight, this movie if not a commemoration of all those who aren't with us tonight, all those who sacrificed their lives for people like me and all the other survivors we managed to trace back, gathered here tonight? I'm not naive enough to ignore there is more to it, something less poetic, but I hold onto the remembrance of the lives lost. Onto that night: I hope the meaning of my sapphire necklace, the same one I wore on my birthday night, is not lost to those who were there. A hand on my shoulder, a gentle touch. As my heart races a bit faster I turn...but no, it's only my colleague, my fictional sister greeting me at the arm of John, Richard's right hand. I kiss her cheeks and invite the two of them to join us. She is visibly excited when she announces that the foyer is packed: she had never seen a crowd like that. It's a delight to hear but I can only hope in that crowd are a few familiar faces I long to see. One dear face I desperately long to see. One last time, at least if that's what it must be but I need to see her, to make amends and tell her the truth. She must know: I owe her that. When the stewards eventually open the velvet curtains, the auditorium fills fast, women in fur stoles and men in tuxedo swarm in like bees, chatting lively as they take a seat. I stretch my neck to see if I can find her face but my eyes only meet tycoons, socialite and strangers. Is that man over there checking the night programme Felix? I certainly hope so: if he's here, Lawrence must be too. And God knows how I need him tonight. After what feels like an eternity, it's time. The premiere begins. "Here goes nothing" Richard sighs, taking my hand into his as they dim off the lights. I wish I could have spotted Adele before darkness fall on the auditorium and the projector starts crackling. Apparently, uncertainty must torture me a bit longer.
As story unfolds on screen, I hear the audience hold their breath in awe and fear and for a moment I am reminded why I love my job: to give people feelings, to make them live lives they would never live even if for a fleeting moment. Their wonder, their tears of sorrow and joy are the best reward, the only reward I look for, even more important than the generous checks I receive for my performances: it makes me feel alive, it makes me believe that for a moment our hearts beat at unison and we're connected. When my character and her sister hug in the lifeboat and watch the sinking ship, the muffled sounds and sniffling around me tell me that no matter how hard performing that scene was, the message got trough. I am incredibly happy about this.
After the screening and a round of thunderous applauses, stewards lead us to the theater lobby. I have a look around while reporters and guests join us. Richard insisted to take care of the decorations and the whole movie party himself...well, with his staff: he claimed that he had asked of me too much already and he was happy to help and give Sabine a few days off. My little Napoleon was taken aback by the decision: she has always supervised every party, every mundane event. I look at her and I have to stifle a laugh at her unimpressed face. She's right: just like the picture, the decorations aren't grand enough, not luxurious enough and I have no doubt she would have done so much better than this. There isn't even music... I hear the clinking sound of camera and flash powder igniting and before I know it, a bunch of reporters are taking pictures. I put on my best smile and pose with Richard. When he agrees we offered enough coverage of the events for the moment, he guides me away from them towards a waiter in high uniform offering champagne glasses. He hands me one and takes one for himself. "To our success, to our night" he smiles, rising his glass. I repeat his toast and we cling glasses. I have just tasted the cold alcoholic sweetness of it that guests approach us. I do my best to be polite and charming: I know it's my duty even if it distracts me from my most important search for my love. Is she even here? Maybe she just tossed my invitation into the fireplace after my disappearance...oh, no, I don't wanna picture such thing! And I know it's selfish of me, maybe even my note was selfish...it probably would make things easier for her if I disappeared and let her live her life, if I let her forget me soon. Strip away the memory of the time we shared together like a band-aid. Maybe even engaging romantically with her was selfish of me in my situation...oh, I'm tormenting myself again! Focus, Zetta, focus! The guests profusely compliment and comments are awfully predictable: the jewelled wife of a well known mogul dramatically claims that the picture was "a true masterpiece" and she totally felt "as if she was there too that night". A young socialite nods and echoes her words: is she her daughter? I flash them a smile and say I am overjoyed to hear so, it was the effect we were hoping for. I am stuck into conversations like these until the party is in full swing. My head almost hurt at the insane amount of stale nonsense I hear: maybe Lawrence was right when he once said that the problem with fiction is that the audience hardly takes it as such and cannot distinguish between documentary and fictional movies. They will go to bed tonight truly convinced they know what we survivors felt that night, they will tell friends encouraging them to go see the picture (hopefully) but the truth is...they know nothing. They have no idea how terrifying it was, how gruesome. They have no idea what suddenly not knowing if you or your dear ones will see another dawn or hearing gunshots and screams of terror all around you feel. It's like ice flowing into your veins instead of blood, a clutching fear I will never forget. Their heart would have broken in a thousand pieces too hearing the despair in the voices of the poor souls swimming in the frozen water begging for a help that never came.  Maybe this picture was a mistake after all, I don't know. I keep jumping from one conversation to another, peering across the crowd gathered on the balcony and below but I cannot spot anyone I know. Instead, a young man out of the blue asks me news of James: they're acquaintances and he was hoping to meet him here tonight. I sense Richard tensing up at my side as he sinks his glass of champagne. He was on the ship too, the young man continues, is he alright. I have no idea if the rumor of what happened at my birthday party has spread or if it faded away after the tragedy so I offer him a quick smile. I conceal how his reminding me of my fallen little prince is making my wound bleed again. James is fine as far as I know - I tell him - but sadly couldn't make it tonight, a previous engagement he couldn't postpone. My merciful lie seems to be enough for him as he tips his hat and asks me to bring him his greetings. As we part from them, I excuse myself and head away from the crowd "to fix my hair and rouge". Thankfully, Richard understands. He takes my glasses and places a quick kiss on my temple, whispering that it's alright, he will cover for me. He winks at me before greeting a colleague. I make a beeline for the restroom to catch some breath: I'm starting to feel a bit overwhelmed by this party but I must be patient, this night is nowhere close to be over soon. I take a deep breath, one last check and return to the lobby.
At the corner of my eye, I finally notice a familiar couple quietly having a drink in a defiled spot by the railing. Friendly faces, at last! I call their names and they turn. "Here's the belle of the ball!" Lawrence exclaims, approaching. He is charming as usual: he takes my hand and gallantly raised to his lips, smiling. He still looks tired and older than he actually is. I pull him into a quick hug. "You came, you old dog!" I joke, making him laugh. "And you too!" I wink at Felix who blushes slightly. When we part, I throw the two of them a look that - I hope - will convey my deep affection more than my words can. "I am incredibly happy you are here tonight" I smile softly. "We were incredibly happy to receive your invitation to the party, dear Zetta" Lawrence twists my words with his kindness. I take a look at him and flash him a sheepish smile. "You hated it, I know" He sighs before laughing, a gentle laugh. I speak again before he can formulate an excuse. "I can only hope I made up for it. My performance at least, the champagne..." "You were magnificent, Zetta. As usual" His smile is genuine, affectionate. Sweet dear Lawrence... "Tell you what, I had to give the gentleman here my handkerchief in the finale" he adds, a playful yet equally affectionate smile on his lips, nodding to his companion. Felix sighs, shaking his head. He cannot refrain a smile. I laugh and hug him. "That is such a great compliment, thank you, darling!" He's always been a big fan of me, he notes and Lawrence is quick to confirm it. We share a long look, quiet, safely away from the loud crowd. When will I see the two of them again? "Lots of people here tonight" Lawrence comments, after a moment, his blue eyes roaming the lobby packed with guests. "Yeah..." I sigh. "Yet you are the first friendly faces I bump into tonight. Well, apart from Sabine. Can you believe it?". I'm not surprised that he understands the unsaid. I'm relieved, actually: concealing my vulnerability but not to the point a man like him cannot sense it, underneath my words. He shares a quick look with Felix before reaching for my hand and giving it an encouraging squeeze. "Maybe it's just because you got stuck with those socialites in high hats and furs and embarrassingly expensive jewels" He winks at me and I laugh, a liberating laugh I needed so much. "Maybe" I concede before adding, hesitant. "I don't even know what I should hope for, Lawrence". He considers my words and when his eyes meet mine again, I don't want to let go of his hand. I want to hold onto him. "The night is not over, right?". I smile weakly at him: he's right but I have no idea if it's a good thing or not. Maybe it will only mean my agony is far from ending anytime soon. He seems to be reading my own thoughts. "Chin up, dear Zetta. And if you need us, we will be downstairs. Just say the word" Sometimes I wonder what I did good to have a man like him being so kind and thoughtful with me. I nod and try to recollect myself. I wish I could stay with them a bit longer but I see reporters approaching and a proper host cannot disappear forever. Sadly I must go, they know it. After one last lingering look, I take my leave. Evading the reporters is a lost war, so I surrender and pose again. How many pictures do they need, goddammit? Oh boy, this flock of vultures wants statements too. Fine, I know what to say. Marvel at how many people gather here tonight, tell how important this movie is to you, how you hope it will help bring along the memory of the tragedy...and start over. Then, with nonchalance and a charming, unreadable smile, walk away. Thank God, it works. I look for Richard or Sabine but they are both nowhere in sight. I shake hands with a couple of New York socialites when I hear a voice behind me calling my name, quietly almost shyly. I turn and see a young woman in a floral dress, red hair in elegant waves and big green eyes looking at me in awe. "Miss Serda, I just wanted to thank you for your invitation and say how flawless your performance was tonight". I flash her a smile. Have we met already? I cannot tell... "Did you enjoy the picture?" "Yes, quite a lot! Even if it's not the same, of course..." she lowers her eyes as if ashamed to anger me with such an undeniable truth. "Were you on the ship?" I inquiry, in my most reassuring voice. "Yes" she nods. "I was..." she pauses before shaking her head, a brighter smile relaxing her face. "Actually I was Adele's cabinmate. Your secretary's cabinmate, I mean". I gape and take a better look at the redhead in front of me. But of course! I saw her on the deck with a Adele as we were playing shuffleboard with the Baron. I tell her so, hoping to make her happy. It works, apparently: she looks pleasantly surprised I remember her. "You're...Clorinda!" I exclaim, reminiscing Lucille's words at our dinner, when she recognised Adele's dress as one of her own creation, a gift to her favourite model. She laughs, but her laugh is weak. "I was Clorinda, yes". "Lucille sang your praises during our journey" I smile. "Will I see you soon at her upcoming show?". "I'm afraid not, Miss Serda" her lips twist in a pained smile. "I no longer work for Mrs Duff-Gordon". Seeing my surprised face, she continues.
"I had an accident during the sinking. I am no longer suited to work as a mannequin" she explains, quickly lowering her eyes before meeting mine again and adding, cheerfully: "But it's alright. I am here, I am alive and I am in America...it's all that matters, right?". We smile weakly at each other for a moment. I feel sorry for this girl even if she seems stronger than she looks. "Adele talked of you" I tell her and I'm glad to see the mix of surprise and excitement on her face. "You're the big fan of mine who kindly borrowed the posters and memorabilia for my birthday party at the Cafe Parisien. Seeing the old and new posters, reading the little notes you wrote...it meant so much to me, truly. I have never had a chance to thank you properly but I will always remember your kindness to me". A hint of red spreads over her cheeks as she smiles a big bright smile. "Oh, it was nothing, Miss Zetta...I was honoured to give my humble contribution to your birthday. If it made you happy, I'm happy, overjoyed!". I laugh softly at her contagious enthusiasm. Adele told me it was quite endearing and she was right. Her cabinmate speaks again, still gleaming but recovering the initial shyness. "Miss Serda, I was wondering if I could...well, if I could get your autograph? I was hoping to ask you during the crossing but then.." "But of course!" I smile and beckon a steward over. When he's back with a promotional picture and a pen, I look back at my fan. "What name should I write?" "Oh, Lena. Lena Montague but Lena is just perfect". I write my dedication and hand it to her. She takes a step forward, limping a little, and I get a glimpse of her wooden leg as she looks down at the picture with reverence. "There, for you. And your new collection, maybe" I wink.
She thanks me but I insist that it's my line. And a sudden idea crosses my mind. "Thank you for coming, Miss Montague. I am glad I got a chance to make your acquaintance. And I was wondering...I remember expressing the wish to invite you for breakfast after being informed of your lovely gesture, to thank you. Would you accept a belated invitation? Let's say next week?". I have never seen such starry eyes on a face of a fan. "And who would be so foolish to turn down an invitation from you, Miss Serda? Sure thing!" "Excellent! I'll send my maid to you then, she's here somewhere...enjoy the party, Miss Montague". I kiss her cheeks and offer her one last smile before going back to my guests. I search Sabine but I find Richard instead, who introduces me to a couple of survivors he shook hands with. It doesn't take long before I realise why he wanted me to meet them: they say they were on my lifeboat and it was thanks to my intervention that they survived that awful night. They will be eternally grateful. I...I don't know what to say. I see Richard smiling proudly down at me while a faint blush spread over my cheeks. I tell them I am sure they would have helped too if the roles were reversed and wish them a happy new life in America. As they part, I finally spot my little Napoleon approaching, imperturbable as the Sphinx, quietly observing the stewards moving from one side of the hall to other. You can take away her apron but not her inquisitive gaze, I suppose: no rest for Sabine... "Ah, here you are!" I greet her, before teasing her. "I feared I lost you in the crowd" She offers me a quick amused smile. "I wasn't lost, Madam, just mingling. An impressive crowd tonight, n'est pas?" "Beyond our wildest expectations, yes!" Richard confirms, eyes roaming the upper floor.
"I am glad to hear, Monsieur King. A well deserved success" my maid bows her head, concealing once again the disappointment for not being involved in the party setting. Then she turns towards me and continues, with a nonchalance that is only pretended. I know it quite well... "By a fortunate coincidence, I bumped into Miss Carrem just a moment ago". I can only hope my face doesn't betray my feelings, the turmoil her words provoked inside me. Adele is here, she came. I will get to see her at least one last time, I will talk to her. My words will be a poor consolation to her maybe but...I will see her again. "Carrem...Carrem, Carrem...oh right, your secretary on board, huh?" Richard exclaims but I barely register what he's saying. All I can think of is Adele, Adele here, tonight. Oh God, thank you! "Oui, precisement" my little Napoleon confirms on my behalf as I cannot speak. "An exquisite young lady, if I say so myself. The best candidate we had in ages, Monsieur, and I am not easily impressed, I assure you". Richard says something about how he would love to make her acquaintance and thank Miss Carrem personally but I am not listening just like the night of our arrival when he was stroking my hand but my head was far away with he woman I foolishly a abandoned at the pier. "I left her in the main hall downstairs. She's with her sister" Sabine adds, addressing me. Snapping out of my reverie, I manage to remind Richard that I talked a little about them. They were on my lifeboat too, we stayed together on the Carpathia...but I am extremely grateful to the providential steward who beckons him over. He sighs and excuses himself, saying he will be back before we know it. As soon as he's out of earshot and someone else interrupts me again, I wrap my arm around Sabine's and lead her to the side, by the railing. Now that Richard is gone, I can show my concern more freely. To some extent, obviously but I think I am safe with my little Napoleon.
"How is she? Did she look alright?" I inquiry, checking over my shoulder. Sabine ponders her words, as if thinking how to describe the impression her brief meeting with Adele left on her. After what feels like an eternity for my tormented heart, she speaks. "If I may, she looks...troubled". I knew it, I feared so. But hearing it put down into words makes me frown. "Troubled? But of course...what a fool I have been! I shouldn't have invited her here tonight, I should have visited her and-" But I can't bring myself to finish my own sentence. "Troubled with grief, I mean. With with the weight of what happened that night. Mourning, you would say, perhaps". Then she sighs, a deep sigh, shaking her head. "It's such a pity to see a young woman like her taking the world over her shoulders, all that sorrow, all that pain". "She wouldn't be Adele if she didn't" I smile, thinking of every time she spoke of her fight for women's rights, the days she spent in jail for it. My sweet revolutionary is indeed a little Atlas and I fear no one can change that, it's simply her nature. But it pains me to see her so miserable and I cannot shake away the feeling that my disappearance played a role in it. At the very least I added salt on her injury. "But Mademoiselle Carrem is strong" Sabine interrupts my somber train of thoughts. "She just needs time, that's all, I think. Time and a little joie de vivre, don't you think, Madam?".
I smile sadly at her words. "Don't we all need it, ma chére Sabine? A little joie the vivre...". Yes, it certainly would be nice. But is it even possible? Even for people like me and Adele or are we forced to be content with cheap surrogates that keep us floating on the water surface? I wish I had an answer... "I will go talk to her" I sigh, straightening my skirt. "I am sure MademoIselle Carrem will be delighted to see you, Madam". "I hope so, Sabine". Yes, I do hope so. We look at each other for a moment before I speak again. "Oh, before I forget...would you mind getting Miss Montague's address and find out when I can meet her for breakfast next week or so?" I ask, nodding at my fan's figure in the hall downstairs. "And book a table to the Plaza or the St Regis. They're both fine...oh and please, send Miss Montague a poster of Surviving the Titanic. I'll ask Richard to sign it too". I fill her in about the details of Lena's life before the sinking and her troubled arrival: the incident, the loss of her job and the end of her modelling career. Sabine bows her head. "Certament, Madam". "In the meantime, I'll see if I can find a way to do more. I wish I could do more for her, somehow" I continue, lost in my thoughts. My little Napoleon nods and goes quiet, pondering. Around us, the sound of laughters and clinging glasses. When she speaks again, she almost startles me. "I'll be on my way" she announces, standing straighter. Before taking her leave, she looks at me and comments quietly that it has just come to her mind that I still haven't found a new secretary since our arrival. I know that look, that pretended nonchalance once again. As Richard approaches, I give her arm a gentle squeeze, a faint smile crossing my lips. "Go find Miss Montague, Sabine. And not a word on this before I speak to the girl". She throws me a conspiratorial look and walks away. When I turn, Richard is offering me his arm. "Fancy a trip downstairs, darling?". "I thought you never asked!" I smirk, wrapping my arm around his.
As we start walk down the stairs, I can feel my heart beating faster in my chest at the thought of my proximity to Adele, how close we are after all this months...even if it's also different now. But it doesn't matter: I don't want it to matter now...what did she say on the deck of the sinking ship? ‘All I care about is that you're here with me, and safe’. Yes, that it's all I care about too. I...saw her. She's with Hileni by a small table with hors d'ouvres and a pyramid of champagne glasses. Be still my heart, I beg you, be still...but it doesn't listen. I cannot control it anymore now that I know for sure she's here. She's wearing a green dress that it or just perfect for her but it enhances her beauty, if it's even possible. Oh, Adele...you have no idea how badly I have missed you! I feel my face lighten up and my lips curl into a bright, happiest smile. See what hold you have on me, my love? I don't even pay attention to those who greet and part as I walk by: I only have eyes for one guest now, for her. The first who spots me is Hileni: her eyes widen at the sight of me. I suppose she has never seen me in all my glory before; on the Carpathia, even if I was still wearing the outfit of my birthday party underneath the coat a kind fan gave me, I was out of my element just like the rest of us. Adele turns a moment later, following her sister's gaze. When our eyes meet, I almost feel my knees get weak. I hope she can see that this smile is meant for her only. I think she does, she brightens up almost immediately I turn towards Richard. "Will you excuse me a moment? I want to say hi to a dear friend I haven't seen in a while...". Dear friend: the euphemism is an insult to what Adele means to me but it will do. Just like the fiction, it's what the world can take. "Sure, go ahead. I'll go find John" he smiles, parting. I immediately glide over to my love, heart racing in my chest. "Adele"
I call her name and the sweet sound of her name fills my mouth. I place my hand on her upper arms and kisses both her cheeks. Restraining myself from pulling her into a tight embrace and linger in that closeness is a Herculean effort. Her perfume, the shade of red spreading over her cheeks, her shy smile. How I missed you... "Let's you and I catch up" I say, still smiling so brightly. I turn to Hileni and ask: "Mind if I borrow your sister for a moment?". She nods, still looking awed. Without hesitation, I take Adele's arm and lead her to a corner of the room apart from the other guests. For a moment, none of us can't find words. Funny how words are most difficult to find with those who are dearest to our heart. But I know what it is...I feel it too. The weight of our past between us. The memory of our brief happiness together.
A last, I summon up enough courage to finally speak. "Ad-" "I-" We start talking at the same time, then burst into laughter. Look at us, two fools lost to love! "I feel...almost nervous. Ridiculous, aren't I?" I keep my smile on but I know, just know she sensed the vulnerability reverberating in my voice who has suddenly lost the confidence I had before with my guests. She smiles too, gesturing that it's alright. "Zetta, it's...so good to see you again". I am sure my mind now is less cheerful. Time for my poor apologies. "I'm sorry, Adele. I should have written or visited" I sigh. "I've just been so busy..." To my surprise, she interrupts me, understanding, smiling. "I understand. You've been making the film, and you're getting married..." But she suddenly lose the train of whatever else she had planned to say. Adele, you and I can try to behave normally around each other, to act as if nothing happened...but we simply fail all the time. Our feelings always get in the way, my love, and God knows if I don't know it too well. And this, this sadness cutting off your words is all my fault. "I know you're upset" I frown.
She meets my eyes again in a silent, unnecessary apology. You have nothing to apologise for, I do. And I owe you the cruel truth, at last. I take in a deep breath to steady myself and let my mask fall. I drop my voice to a whisper so that only she can hear. "I've been agonizing over what I'd say when I saw you. And I never came up with a good answer". Adele, if only you knew the nights I spend writing you the most ardent, sorrowful letters! "I love you. I want to be with you. But this marriage has to go forward or my career's done". Do you understand my impossible position, my dearest? But please, I beg you never doubt my feelings. "Doubt thou the stars are fire, doubt the sun doth move, doubt truth to be a liar...but never doubt I love". When she speaks, her voice is a pained whisper and her words an excruciating plea. "Zetta, please don't do this. I want us to spend our lives together". I couldn't ask for anything better, sweet Adele, but...there is always a cruel but for us. "Even if that life had to be kept secret?" I grimace. "If people knew about us, it would destroy everything I've worked for". Look what malicious rumours brought on Lawrence and Felix even without a solid evidence of their relationship. Look what the world does to people like us. These guests, my adoring fans crowd the movie theaters to see me fall in love with the hero, the dashing heartthrob 'every woman daydream of' without asking me what I really want. They smile and awe at me tonight but they wouldn't hesitate to drag me down into the gutter if they knew who my heart truly belongs to. "I...I can't have both you and my career".
I lower my eyes unable to sustain her gaze any longer. I am so incredibly sorry, Adele, so sorry.... She reaches for my hand, shyly, and I am reminded of the first time she took my hand into hers in my private projection room on board of the Titanic. The soothing warmth of her hand over mine felt so intimate, calming...just like now. I look back at her and I have to fight back tears. She looks over her shoulder then she speaks, her voice low. "I don't care if no one knows about us. All I care about is that there is an us. I need you, Zetta". My eyes widen as I register the meaning of her words. Does she...does she mean it? "Are you sure?" I ask her, unsure whether she is fully aware of what she's proposing. "This won't be like it was on the Titanic, bathhouses and stolen kisses. It won't be easy..." She searches my eyes and nods. I...I would have never thought nor hoped for such a hopeful end of this conversation I feared so much. Oh my dear...not losing Adele, being with Adele! Out of instinct, I move to kiss her but I refrain myself just in time, painfully aware of the surroundings. I must long for your lips a bit longer, my love...but it doesn't matter, we're together now. "We'll need to come up with a plan..." I consider. "How do you feel about being my publicist?". "About as confident as I felt about being your secretary" she beams. I laugh as I laughed with her in the most dire moments...incredible what a light she casts on me, even when I am at my lowest. I regard her fondly as a newfound sweet joie de vivre starts spreading inside me, and I put my hand to her cheek. "This is the happiest I've felt in months...knowing you'll be at my side" I whisper, my voice trembling with the swirl of feelings taking hold of me. "Always" she whispers back, slightly leaning to the touch.
Suddenly we're both brought back to the party by the flash powder igniting around us. As I unwillingly retrieve my hand we're surrounded by journalists shouting my name. I am too overjoyed by our sweet reunion to be annoyed by them. I wish they could have forgotten about me a bit longer, granting me more time with Adele but they are oddly bearable this time.
I see her leaning closer and putting her mouth to my ear. The words she whispers send my heart fluttering.
"I love you". I turn my face to meet her eyes. I must summon every ounce of strength I have to stop myself from pulling her mouth to mine, pouring my affection on her right in front of the photographers. I see the same restraint in her eyes. There will be other nights for that. Yes, there will other nights... "And I you" I whisper back. My voice is soft, adoring...how could I not adore her? I smile at her one last time before turning to the cameras and bathing into the flash lights. They better capture this moment, I think: I will never be as radiant as I am now. As they keep calling my name and taking picture of me posing, I slowly return to the party I momentarily left for my reunion to Adele. I spot Richard and John lightening cigarettes by the staircase and not far Miss Montague chatting with a man I have never seen before. Sabine is checking herself in a mirror, fixing her headband...a rare moment of vanity for her. Hileni is pondering whether going for the pastry mignons is a bit too much and once saw me looking at her, she shyly waves at me and walks away. To my delight, Lawrence is signing an autograph to a fan, under the proud gaze of Felix, who took a step back. Good old Lawrence... ‘Sometimes our secrets are what make our lives worth living. No matter with what high cost they come attached’, he said. And he was right. I used to repeat to myself that you can't breathe if you're constantly underwater. It turns out I was wrong. With her love, I can breathe underwater.
