Hi! I saw your ask as open and I wanted to request something for the Self aware Project Sekai AU you made :)

May I request how the Vocaloids react to the player? Like, how would they become self aware? We’re they self aware to begin with? Thank you :)

(Sorry everyone for being gone for so long, I was just emotionally exhausted and had a few angsty teen thoughts)

Platonic/Romantic - tbh idk? Depends on how u take it :^

Let's start off with the fact, that they all know know that they're not exactly their original counterparts

Yes, they are vocaloids, but..different? They're in game, nothing new for Miku- but it seems like it's their first time being alive. They know it's their voice, their songs but it just..feels weird?

- though this mostly applies to Miku, as she's the first one to greet us and has her..original form?

She knows it's her, but different her.

- I wanna say that I see all sekai vocaloids as different people, BECAUSE during April fools, THEY MET EACH OTHER and uhm- I'd recommend watching that video to understand what happened. They kinda became friends, and 25ji Rin liked wxs Kaito's (or what Kaito that was?) head pats. She was waiting for her Kaito to arrive.

SO that means they are ALL different.

Now, that we finally sorted out what was important, we can finally make some content

Hatsune Miku(s)!

The Miku that greets us:

She knows she is Miku, but she doesn't have knowledge of stuff outside the game. She is a sekai keeper, and keeps hopes and dreams of every vocaloid producer. But...She is unsure if this true. Some stuff happened before she even existed! (Games existence)

So she knows she isn't exactly the first Miku. But Miku anyways.

She was staying there all alone, for so long.. (game downloading)

Yes, she loved watching over sekais, but..it's not like she has anyone..

So when she first meets you! She is so excited to make a friend! She says you're a sekai watcher like her, because you two "sang" (aka you playing tutorial)

Whether you played bad or good didn't matter. She liked it.

She didn't wanna lose you, but it's not like you're leaving her. Your presence is always near her when you play and read stories/events.

She doesn't see you often, unless you're pulling for characters or there's an event/sth she needs to explain to you.

She's such a little tease, not giving you card you want if she knows you have more pulls. Don't worry, she will give you it, but just pull one/few more times please.. she doesn't want to be alone anymore.

First though when she met you: I am not alone anymore?

Sekai Mikus

As long as you won't harm others she's fine!

She is very cautious when it comes to [band's name]. They're her 1st priority.

At first she thought you are just there to watch over them, but she noticed you actually help them improve (I hc that by playing their songs, decorating sekai, grooving their cards and kizuna level you can make them better and improve them)

Aww, thank you so much! You are a great help!

Overtime all vocaloids became kinda obsessive over you? They want you to play their band's songs and care mostly, if not ONLY about them and their band! Yes, they're grateful you helped them improve, but they will bring you into their world, and you will make it real. Not just a game, but a R E A L, LIVING WOLRD. NO NPCS, NO GAME CODE

Until then, everyone is just a piece of cra- I mean, code. Your word also seems so dangerous... that's why they need to protect you from world's harm!

Not gonna lie, EVERY other vocaloid acts this way, so I'll end it here, sorry ^^; (Maybe I will make a part 2?)

yo. I was hoping to put a request in for a yandere headcanon about Rui from Project Sekai. He doesn't seem like the most dangerous type but I feel like he still has potential!

what kind of yandere are they?

First of all, I can see Rui being an obsessive yandere. He’s generally a very curious person, especially when it’s about the things that he’s interested in, so he’d likely take the time to learn everything he can about his darling.

This desire to know his darling well also makes Rui a bit of a stalker yandere. However, I don’t think he’d stalk his darling in the “traditional” way. I can definitely imagine Rui using his drones or other robots to spy on his darling from far away.

Rui can also be a little manipulative at times. Most of his manipulation would come in the form of guilt tripping, but he’s not afraid to use other methods. For example, if his darling is the confident type of person like Tsukasa is, Rui would try to praise them as much as he could to get on their good side. Additionally, if his darling returned his feelings, he would 100% use that fact against them to get them to stay no matter what.

Additionally, he would probably try to monopolize his darling’s time as much as he can, which does make him slightly controlling. After all, he’s already busy enough with his job as the director of Wonderlands x Showtime, so what’s the harm in trying to convince his darling to stay with him in his free time?

how do they treat their darling?

Rui is generally a very soft yandere. He’s also quite good at hiding the evidence of his stalking and other obsessive tendencies, so there’s a good chance that his darling may never find out about his yandere side… unless he slips up, that is.

He would watch his darling from afar for quite a bit, but eventually he’d get impatient and approach them to try and befriend them. He’d be nervous on the inside at first, being careful with his words so he doesn’t scare them away too soon. Rui would also be guilty of purposefully creating situations where his darling has to talk to or spend time with him; for example, randomly and “accidentally” crashing one of his drones right next to them and then offering to see if they have any injuries from the crash.

However, when Rui does become friends with his darling, he’ll treat them like he treats the Wonderlands x Showtime crew and his other friends, such as Mizuki. His darling will be subject to a lot of theatre-based rants from Rui, and he would definitely proudly show off any of his robots (but maybe not the ones he’s been using to spy on them).

For the most part, Rui acts rather normally around his darling. However, every once in a while, he’d get too excited and say something that he really shouldn’t know about them, or seem a little too confident about where he was going when going over to their home for the “first time”. A more observant darling may be able to pick up on his yandere side after these little slip ups, but Rui would do anything to hide it from them. The last thing he wants is to scare them away.

I don’t see Rui being very physically affectionate with his darling, since he’s more concerned about spending time with them. However, I do think Rui would often tell his darling how much he appreciates them, especially if he is in a romantic relationship with them. He really wants them to know just how important they are to him. It’s very sweet, if you ignore the concerning level of devotion lying underneath his words.

Any type of abuse is off the table. Rui loves his darling, after all, so he doesn’t see the need to injure them or hurt them in any other way. That being said, manipulation through guilt tripping or taking advantage of weaknesses is a fairly normal occurrence with him, as I mentioned before. Another thing that’s completely off the table is murder. Rui would never murder his darling or anyone else, no matter how bad things got.

I don’t think Rui is very likely to kidnap his darling. He’d see that as crossing a line that shouldn’t be crossed. There is a chance that he’d do it if things got really out of hand (say, his darling started dating someone else and isn’t responding the way he wants to his implicit suggestions of breaking up with them), but it’s generally very unlikely.

Overall, since Rui’s actions are very calculated and he treats his darling well, there’s a feasible chance that he can maintain a normal relationship with them on the outside, whether that be a friendship or a romantic relationship. However, if things went south and his darling found out about him stalking them, Rui isn’t afraid to use a little more manipulation to get his darling to stay with him. He’d never hurt them too bad though. He doesn’t want to see them in pain, especially not if he’s the cause of it.

what kind of person would they obsess over?

I think Rui would be attracted to someone who’s very passionate about their interests. After all, he is friends with Tsukasa, who is arguably one of the most passionate people in Project Sekai. Rui himself is very passionate as well, so that helps. He’d love nothing more than to sit down with his darling and exchange ideas with them - either about his shows or robot building ideas, or about whatever they’re interested in.

Rui may also fall for someone who is a bit of an outcast, just like him. Up until joining Wonderlands x Showtime, he never had many friends, and he struggled to find people who accepted his more eccentric ideas. That’s why he would be very understanding and empathetic towards someone in a similar situation to him, kind of like he is with Mizuki.

It’s also worth mentioning that if Rui falls for the outcast type of darling, he would be very protective over them. I can see him coming to his darling’s aid if they’re ever being picked on or made fun of by other people. He knows what it’s like to be alone, so he doesn’t want his darling to have to feel the same pain. They have him, after all!

In addition to being protective over his darling if they were being treated badly by others, Rui would probably increase his drone surveillance of them to make sure that they’re safe; and if they aren’t safe at any moment, he knows immediately and can intervene before things get ugly.

are they aware of their actions? how dangerous are they?

Rui is a very lucid yandere. He’s quite aware of the fact that what he’s feeling is not the normal way to feel about someone you love, to the point where he sometimes feels a little guilty about what he’s doing. The guilt comes out especially when he finds himself hiding things from his darling or lying to them, but he considers it a necessary sacrifice. After all, he ultimately wants to be by his darling’s side, so if he has to stalk them or guilt trip them to achieve that, he can handle whatever remorse comes as a side effect.

Overall, Rui is not a very dangerous yandere. He treats his darling nicely, and he tries his best to keep his more intense actions and feelings away from their sight. Like I mentioned before, he is capable of maintaining a normal relationship with them despite what he’s doing behind their back, and there’s even a chance that they’d never find out about his obsessive tendencies due to how well he conceals them.

what is their most dangerous trait? how far would they have to be pushed to bring it out?

Rui’s most dangerous trait is his intellect and his high capability for quick thinking. He’s a very intelligent person, and he’s good at coming up with plans on-the-spot in response to a sudden change or development in his environment. That’s why I think it would be really hard to escape from him.

I don’t think Rui would give his darling many opportunities to get away from him in the first place. If he hasn’t kidnapped them yet, he’s not afraid to get in their face and manipulate them into spending time with him if he noticed they were getting distant. And if he has kidnapped them, he’d keep an almost constant watch on them, either directly or through his robots and other electronics.

However, if his darling ever was able to escape, Rui would do anything to get them back. He’d stay surprisingly calm despite the stress of losing them, and his head would be filled with ways to get them back into his clutches… and keep them there. At that point, if he hadn't already kidnapped his darling, he would.

Although he is still against physical/verbal abuse and murder, Rui would take no shame in playing mind games with his darling should they ever get away from him. The guilt tripping would evolve into plain old manipulation, and Rui wouldn’t try and hide it either. If his darling has gotten him to the point that he’s forced to kidnap them, he doesn’t see much of a use in hiding anymore. As they say, the cat’s out of the bag.

✧ Gross = What is something they think is really romantic/sweet but is actually horrifying?

Rui has real talent for creating robots, and he's also quite obsessed with making sure you're always safe. So why not mix those two for your own good, he thought? And that's how he one day announced that he invented a drone who'll follow you around and explained all the functions... it had camera, it could scare someone away but it could also kill... he assured you it'll never harm you but how can you not feel a bit startled knowing that murderous robot follows you 24/7?

He on the other hand thinks it's act of pure affection, love and care to you. He thinks he's just proving how much he wants to take care of your well being with that. So expect him to not understand when you ask him to give it up, no matter how hard you try convincing him.

"Stop it? Oh my darling... but I can't. What if someone approaches you when I'm away? You need protection. It's enough that I turn it off when we're together and it's for your comfort only."

✧ Please take it = What presents they usually give you? What's worst and best gift you got from them?

The best gift Rui gave to you would be something you were just eyeing in a mall. You didn't even had to be with him... he just had his connections and ways to observe you~ Maybe it was a bit creepy but there was nothing weird about the gift so who are you to refuse such a generous gift? It's not like he'd let you not take it either way...

But the worst gift would only happen if you have an enemy or a bully in your life. Once he hears stories from you, others or sees on his own two eyes what's happening, he promised himself to get vengeance for you and make you proud. So one day, when you were curious how could it be person you hated stopped appearing, he presents a little gift for you. Small trophy left from your, as well as his enemy. Little... part of their that he cut off.

✧ Type = What type of Yandere are they?

Rui would be the dependent and possessive type. Due to his middle school experience, he feels stronger need to be around you and not let go of you, so you want push him away. He's willing to try anything to keep you closer to him, be it slowly working for you to trust him, bribing you or even forcing you. He's good as long as it works.

But he doesn't have that sort of patience with strangers... if you approach someone, maybe he'll trust you. But if someone approaches you? He has all sorts of scenarios in his head and would kill them with a smile for even daring to speak with you.

"No, no, you don't need to go anywhere. I already took care of those papers. Someone less busy can do it, don't you think? You should focus on me, darling..."

WARNING: YANDERE CONTENT BELOW!!

First of all, any type of emotions that may awaken inside of Mafuyu will be stronger than usual, thanks to her general struggle to comprehend and understand them! As such, everything may hit her a bit harder than usual...

It starts off small and slow, as does every emotion with this girl. It probably starts from you wanting to get to know the perfect student of your class better as thanks for her help! And with that, immediately creating a ton of questions inside her head about why.

She can't find the coldness in herself to reject your attempts to start small talk though, which is her first sign that something is off. She should usually be prioritizing her studies, pleasing her mom and returning home by this point, yet she's spending time with you...

Once she speaks about it with niigo, they decide to allow her to spend more time with you! Yet, this is where it starts to get dangerous. She eventually asks for your number, and you'll be receiving texts at the most random of times, creating conversations that are so long you feel uncomfortable, so...

"What do you mean you have to go? Didn't we agree that our conversations would be a break from the homework, and eyes of others? Why do you want to give up this safe space? ... Just for a while? An obligation?... Alright. Only if you call me back when you're done."

Of course this doesn't put her at peace at all, and she soon finds out just how badly you have taken over her every thought. However, with that, she also feels incredible relief every time she gets to see you after school, or send you a message, or see your reply. It's a constant wave of comfort, tranquility, something she now knew she desperately needed.

So then, she decides that more drastic measures are needed! She invites you to a mystical place, where no one will interrupt you two! She gives a heads up to the rest of her group to not interrupt them, as she leads you inside using her phone!

Once you stray to panic, she quickly grabs you with an iron grip, and calls for the other vocaloids to help her to detain you! That is when she explains the existence of the Sekai, and the reason why she dragged you here...

"... I need you. I've spent every day of my life pressured to be perfect by the world around me. So pressured, that I've forgotten what it's like to live without this oppression, freely and emotionally. However, you show me peace, happiness that i never knew how to feel. So, stay with me. In here. Away from the gaze of others... Please..."

Ena Shinonome

Ena has always been slightly intense with showing and acting upon her emotions, so it isn't much of a stretch to assume that her love could also be quite the intense and passionate affair! Perhaps too passionate...

She falls easily when you start complimenting her art during her night classes! Not just one is gonna do it though, you need to constantly compliment her every piece, while not overdoing it! That way, she starts looking at you in a different light than her classmates, seeking you outside of classes, constantly messaging you, and even starting to paint more just to hear your compliments!

"Hey! Sorry to call you this late at night, but I just finished a new piece! Heheh, I made sure to call you as soon as I finished it, since you seem to like them so much! I don't mind, really, since hearing your happiness towards my work is quite satisfying..."

Frustrating, but I have no idea if your presence is good for me anymore. So I know I'm not in a position to make the choice. Please, make it for me."

If you decide to stay alongside her, she'll try her best to control her desire for attention, and ask you to help her to control her emotions! However, her emotions will grow stronger with each day she spends alongside you, so it'll take a lot of effort to keep them controlled.

If you decide to leave, she'll reconnect with her group mates again, and try to forget about your presence in her life! However that will be quite difficult, as not only are you her classmate, but she has always been bad at keeping her emotions at bay for long...

If it is Vivid BAD Squad, OH the jealousy would eb over the top. Everyone will try to rap like Akito Everyone will try change their music AND dances. Also Ena might..argue/bicker with Akito more (Tsukasa and Shizuki won't with their siblings btw..probably.. maybe a bit)

If it's Wonderland x Showtime, everyone will try to make their performances grander! Jealous aswell but not as much as with Vivids (Akito's fault).

If it's Nightcord at 25:00 then they would turn emo then they would turn their songs a bit darker. Also might make their color pallate darker (while with wxs more colorful)

Tbh they all ate great friends and siblings that I don't think bad blood would happen between them. Maybe fight sometimes but no killing each other. Saki is the most safe one lmao

Though they could kill others (aka noc characters)

They might even do singing battles 💀

But usually guys fistfight (minus Tsukasa, he's smarter than that! I will expand on what he would do later.)

Girls fight too but they won't do much damage (care about each other).. BUT I feel like Mafuyu won't hesitate to start a war. THEN it will go downhill

⊱ Justification = Why are they acting like that? When did it started?

It all started by Tsukasa thinking that you're key to his star career. You were always just so supportive of him! You always cheered him on and helped with his confidence before a show, and after it you always confratulated him for food work!

But with time, the thinking that you're key to his star career turned into needing you in his star career. He couldn't imagine starting a show without seeing your face or hearing your words of encouragement. He couldn't imagine not seeing a smile on your face when he performs or shows you video of his performance because you couldn't attend for whatever reason. He couldn't imagine ending a show without hearing you compliment him.

"I need them... but it's nothing bad! Every star needs it's loyal fan and it just so happened to be Y/N!"

⊱ Other = Someone else speaks or flirts with you, how will they react?

Tsukasa isn't the jealous type even when he's a yandere. Sure he will definitely react when someone flirts with you but when you're just talking with a friend! If anything he'll swiftly join the conversation to not leave you alone with that person.

But let's say someone is flirting with you... he's not the type to loose his cools, especially in front of you so he'll just join the conversation but it's clear that the air is tense. He'll try making the person talking with you uncomfortable or hinting that you're taken by holding your hand or waist and calling you ant sort of nicknames, maybe even small kiss on cheek! But if the person talking to you won't get it... then he will actually loose it and start threatening them...

"If you won't stop right there and just walk away, I promise you, I'll torture you for hours with lighter, knife, saw or any other tool."

⊱ Sweet = Even when they're Yandere they can be sweet. What's their sweet Yandere side?

Tsukasa is caring. But his caring can turn into being possessive easily... although when you're alone, he shows as cute boy who was simply scared for your well being!

Let's say someone approached you and he was a bit mean... when you're alone or when he cools off, he won't decline his acts but he'll give you honest explanation! That he wasn't doing it for selfish manners like jealousy but because he was worried about them doing something to you that you wouldn't like, and he knows he'd be there to help you out but he still doesn't want you to go through it.

"Are you okey? Did they do something to you? Have they looked at you the wrong way? Should I have a talk with them?"

It all started by being simple friends with Rui... you had your casual chats, hangouts and so on. But the closer you were, the bigger his fear grew, fear that you may get enough of him one day.

After some time, he started seeing goodbyes as potential danger... it started by replacing "goodbye" with "see you" and getting you to say the same but soon... he was overthinking everything when you had to leave even if you had proven it was something really urgent. He couldn't sleep at night because he was thinking all over his actions and once it was done, he was thinking of what he can do to keep you close.

It shouldn't be a surprise that this big fear of you leaving him quickly turned into craving for your time. He needed to spend more time with you so now, he won't let go so easily of every potential second he can spend with you.

"They won't leave me forever, right? It really was just an important manner... They should call me soon... just as they promised!"

⊱ Other = Someone else speaks or flirts with you, how will they react?

You can be giving someone directions and Rui will get jealous! But his reaction depends on how long you're talking to someone...

For the most of time Rui just stares daggers through them while maybe also holding you close to him and giving you kisses on cheek, forehead, neck or even lips whenever he feels like person you're talking to needs to be reminded about a fact that you're his.

If you're not saying goodbye for a pretty long time tho... Rui will be quick to ask you quietly when do you plan on ending your conversation and if anything, he'll tell you to end it as quick as possible. When he has enough tho, he'll either make up excuse, tell the person he has enough of them or just pick you up and go, all depends on his mood.

"I think it's enough. It's time for us to finally go, my darling!"

⊱ Sweet = Even when they're Yandere they can be sweet. What's their sweet Yandere side?

Rui is simply afraid of you leaving him, there's nothing that scares him more than thought of you leaving him... So he might come off a bit possessive most of the time but there's also small sweet side that comes with it!

Whenever he feels afraid, he'll hold you tightly to him, preferably from front so he can he the only thing you're focusing on, as he spoils you with kisses and compliments.

"My dear... you're simply so perfect... you're so perfect I'm afraid I might loose you... you won't do it to me, right?"

prologue - part iii.

“Myaah!” Grim shouted.

The ghosts screamed, “hwaaaaaaahhh! We gotta get out of here before we disappear for good!”

Grim, Enma and Y/N glanced around as the ghosts fled, that was so fun!

“H-Huh? Did we… did we win?” The feline asked.

“That was incredible, thanks for your help, you two.” Enma praised.

“Uwahhh! That was so wonderhoy! We should play again!” Y/N laughed.

Grim and Enma stared at her quizzically, was she not scared of the ghosts? She was certainly a bizarre girl, though, Enma found it kind of endearing.

“Aw, geez, I was scared outta my— er, I mean, they didn’t faze me one bit! Just a walk in the park for a mage of my caliber! Whaddaya got to say now, ghosties? That’s right!” Grim exclaimed triumphantly.

Suddenly, Crowley appeared once more, holding two plates of food, “good evening. In another gesture of my immense kindness, I have brought you dinner— Wait, that’s the creature we ejected for causing trouble at orientation! What is it doing here!?”

“Takin’ care of yer’ ghost problem, that’s what! You’re welcome by the way!” Grim said with a smirk.

“What is the meaning of this, Enma! Miss Y/N!? But you know, on that topic, I do seem to recall that this dorm had a mischievous ghost problem. Ah, yes… that’s why it was abandoned, in fact. The ghosts scared away all the students. So, you’re saying that you three joined forces to drive them away?” Crowley asked.

“Well… it was more like Grim and I,” Enma said, glancing at Y/N as she began opening doors to look for the ghosts, “aw… I was gonna perform a show for them!” She whined.

“… “Joined forces” isn’t exactly how I’d describe it,” Grim began, “more like I drove ‘em away, and the humans watched. And I only did it ‘cause I wanted some tuna. Hey…! Wait a minute! I never got those cans of tuna ya’ promised!”

Crowley let out a surprised hum, “oh? Would you three be so kind as to demonstrate your ghost-eradication methods for me?”

Grim looked a little annoyed, “one, no, ‘cause I already wiped ‘em all out. And two, no, ‘cause where’s my tuna!?”

The headmage laughed, “I will play the parts of the ghosts. As for the tuna, you’ll receive it when you defeat me. Ohhh, what generosity, Crowley… Now! Time to chug this transmutation potion!”

And like he said, Crowley began to drink the said transmutation potion that had magically appeared in his hands.

“Oh, you gotta be kiddin’ me! I gotta work together with the humans again!?” Grim complained loudly.

Y/N just laughed with sparkles in her eyes, “woahh! Come on, Enma! Come on, Grim, we get to have fun!”

“…You know, this could be your chance to enrol.” Enma whispered to Grim tauntingly.

Grim let out a frustrated huff, “hrmph! All right, fine! But this is the last time! And I better be up to my jowls of tuna afterwards!”

After showing Crowley that they had managed to become Ghostbusters, Grim and Enma were panting, Y/N on the other hand was still full of energy.

“Incredible…” The headmage praised, “I’ve never seen anyone bend a monster to their will the way you have. I must confess, my educators intutition did sense something about you after the brouhaha at orientation, you two. I could tell you had a certain animal trainer, beast masterish quality to you. Oh, yes. That said, I…” he trailed off into mumbles.

“Headmage Crowley, I have a question,” Enma said, “Grim would really like to go to this school, so… would it be possible for Grim to stay with us?”

“WHAT!? A monster, stay HERE?” The eccentric man sputtered.

“Whoa, did you just—?” Grim asked, offended.

“Please, sir!” Enma begged, “what if there are more ghosts?”

Y/N nodded, “yes, yes! Please!”

Crowley seemed to ponder his options for a while, “hmmm… I suppose I cannot deny your pleas. Very well.”

The girl let out a loud cheer, “yay!”

Grim and Enma were shocked too.

“Though, let me be clear! Under no circumstances would I admit anyone to Night Raven College who has not been selected by the Dark Mirror — especially not a monster! Nor do I intend you, Y/N and Enma, to freeload until you’re able to return home,” Crowley said sternly, almost as if he were scolding children.

Grim whined again, “hrmph… never shoulda’ gotten my hopes up…”

“Now, now, allow me to explain. It was the Dark Mirror that transported you here and therefore, this school does bear some responsibility for your wellbeing. So, I will allow you both to remain this dorm, free of charge! However, you’ll need to pay for your own food, clothing and incidentals. As to how you will do so… penniless as you are… ah. Ahaha, yes, a fine plan!” The man explained with a dark laugh.

Enma gulped, “what exactly are you planning to make us do?”

Y/N nodded, curious as well. “Un, what are we gonna do?”

“You needn’t seem so alarmed,” the man reassured. “I’m simply going to ask you to do a few odd jobs around campus. From what you’ve done here, Enma, I can tell you know your way around a broom. Though, Miss Y/N on the other hand… Ah, never mind. So, what do you both say to you three working together as a janitorial team? If you agree to that, I will make a special exception and allow you to remain on campus. I’ll also allow you use of the library so that you may study and research ways to get home. How soundlessly charitable I am. Ah, but only when your work is over, of course!”

“Whaaat!? What kinda deal is that!?” Grim asked with a huff, “I wanna put on one of those sweet uniforms and be a student, not sweep up people’s junk!”

“If you’re not satisfied with my offer, I can arrange to have you thrown out again,” Crowley added casually.

“W-Wha!? All right, fine. Let’s do it!” Grim agreed burgrudingly.

“What other choice do I have..?” Enma sighed, before he turned to face Y/N, “what about you?”

Y/N nodded, “okay! Let’s do it.”

“Wonderful. Then I beseech you three… to work hard as the newest members of the Night Raven College’s janitorial staff!”

The next day, Y/N was up and about first.

She had been woken up to someone calling her name. The voice sounded familiar, as if it were one of her friends from back in her world. But… when she opened her eyes, there was no one there.

She had tried to find a charger for her phone within the ramshackled dorm, though, she came out empty handed.

A few of the ghosts had come to watch over her as she tried desperately to find some way to charge up her phone. She had to access the SEKAI. If this were a dream, she probably wouldn’t be able to access the SEKAI from here, but if she could, then she’d know that she wasn’t dreaming.

She missed her friends. She missed her family. And she missed performing.

Maybe she’d never get home.

She soon joined her newfound roommates as Crowley had come inside the dorm, “good morning, Enma. Miss Y/N. Did you sleep well?”

Y/N just shrugged, “it was okay.”

“Not at all! When I sprawled out on the bed, the mattress fell right through the frames! Exactly how ramshackle IS this dorm!? And worse yet, we got woken up by ghosts!” Grim whined.

“I didn’t sleep well either…” Enma mumbled as he stretched his back.

“Well, it’s understandable you’d be anxious after being pulled into such an unfamiliar place. But the world can be cruel sometimes. So, suck it up and move on!” Crowley said with a smile, “now, speaking of moving on, let us discuss your assignment for today.”

They then walked to the lounge of the dorm.

“Your job today is to clean the campus,” the man explained. “That said, the campus is vast, and without magic, it’d be quite the Herculean task to clean it all. Therefore, today I’ll have you focus on the area spanning from the front gates to the library. Now, Enma… I do expect that you’ll keep a close eye on Grim and Miss Y/N, lest Grim causes another incident like yesterday. Miss Y/N, on the other hand, just keep an eye on her… I feel as if she might cause an accident if left unsupervised…”

“Understood…” Enma said, taking a glance at the feline and Y/N.

“Do not fail me. You may take your lunch in the cafeteria. I eagerly wait the fruits of your labor.” Then, Crowley soon left the dorm.

Grim growled, “hmph. I ain’t cleanin’ nothin’! I’m here to study magic so I can be blastin’ off spells left and right! Like BAM! POW! FWOOM!”

“Yeah! I wanna go all BOOM! BAM! POW! FWOOM! Too!” Y/N said happily, “what about you Enma?”

The boy sighed, this felt like babysitting, he ignored her question, “after we clean, we can study in the library…”

She pouted when he didn’t give a response.

Arriving on the Main Street of Night Raven College, the three janitors glanced at the seven statues.

“Wow, so this is Main Street, huh? This is incredible! I didn’t get to see it much yesterday and what’s the deal with these seven statues? All their faces look pretty scary/ Like, this lady here looks like she’s got some reeeeeeeal anger management issues.” Grim said.

“You don’t know the Queen of Hearts?” A ginger haired boy with a red heart shaped mark over his left eye asked curiously.

“Queen of Hearts? Is she some kinda big deal?” Grim asked.

Oh, Y/N remembered that story from when she were a little girl. That was the story of when Alice fell down a rabbit hole and into Wonderland. It was one of her favourite stories to read when she was little.

“She was a queen who lived in a mazelike garden of roses long, long ago. She was a strict woman who prized order over all. She wouldn’t tolerate a rose being off-colour or her playing-card soldiers being out of step. She basically ruled over a kingdom of madness, but not one of her subjects dared to defy her. You wanna know why? Because the punishment for breaking a rule was immediate decapitation!” The boy explained.

“Eh!?” Y/N exclaimed, she remembered the story but she didn’t think that the Queen of Hearts actually did that!

“That’s seriously messed up!” Grim sputtered.

“Pretty cool, right? I’m a big fan.” The boy said. “I mean, who would bother to obey a queen that was kind all the time?”

Grim and Y/N both seemed to think about whether they’d agree of disagree. Soon, Grim seemed to agree. “Yeah, true. A leader needs to be strong. But… puttin’ that aside, who’re you?”

“Oh! Name’s Ace. I’m a first year student here, as of… today! Pleased to meetcha.” Ace introduced himself.

“I’m Grim! I’m a prodigy who’s plannin’ to be, like, the greatest mage who ever lived. Those there’s my far less interesting hench-humans!” Grim announced.

“I’m Yuuken Enma, this is Y/N — and it’s nice to meet you.” Enma greeted.

Y/N nodded excitedly, “yeah! My name is Otori Y/N! Wonderhoy!”

“W-Wonderhoy..?” Ace repeated, confused.

But Y/N just giggled.

“So, tell me, Ace. Is that lion with a scar on its eye a famous ruler too?” Grim asked as Y/N stopped her giggles.

“Why of course! That’s the King of Beasts who ruled the savanna. But, he wasn’t born into the throne — he had to earn it through hard work and elaborate schemes. When he became king, he decreed that the hyenas would be pariahs no more and should live among his subjects as equals,” Ace explained.

“Sounds like a great guy! Not everyone’s able to look past social status like that. Who’s the lady with the octopus legs?”

“The Sea Witch who lived in an underwater grotto/ She basically devoted her life to helping troubled menfolk. If they were willing to pay the price, she’d help them change their appearance, find love, whatever! They say she was so good, there was no wish she couldn’t grant. They also say that the price was a tad steep, though. But, she was granting wishes so of course it was!”

“Myahah! So you’re saying that once I’m a great mage, gettin’ rich off folks will be a total cinch!? Oh, oh! Do the dude with the big hat next!”

…Y/N knew these people. They were the villains in the fairytales she read as a child. Did the students here see these people as heroes?

“That’s the Sorcerer of the Sands. He was an advisor to a total dolt of a sultan. He was a smart guy. Really capable sort. He exposed this swindler once — some guy pretending to be a prince in order to trick the princess! After that, he got this magic lamp and became the greatest sorcerer in the world. Then, they say… they say he used that power to become a great sorcerer himself!”

“Wow! Guess it’s true that an advisor needs to be an excellent judge of character, huh? And what about this beauty over here?”

“She’s a queen who was said to be the fairest in all the land. In fact, she used her magic mirror to check how she ranked on a daily basis! When it looked like her position was threatened, they say she’d do anything to keep it. Can you even imagine the level of dedication it would requite to keep a record like that? Also, they say she was a master of making poisons!”

There were too many similarities to her world. Where these people were nothing but fairytales. Y/N didn’t understand why these people were idolised here.

“Gees! She’s pretty, but that sounds kinda scary!”

“You think so? I gotta respect the hustle!” Ace said with a laugh.

“F-For sure… Sounds like she fought hard for what she believed in and never gave up! And they one there, with the flaming head. Now THAT guy looks scary!”

“That’s the King of the Underworld. He singlehandly ruled a kingdom with rambunctious spirits — that takes competence! He may look scary, but he was a straight shooter who worked tirelessly at a tough job he never even asked for. I mean, this is the guy who was ordering Cerberus, the Hydra and the Titans to battle for him.”

“Hmmm… That is something. T’think he could have that much power and not let it go to his head! And that last one there, with the horns.”

“That’s the Thorn Fairy who lived on a mythical mountain. She was noble and elegant and a master of magic and curses — even by the standards of these seven! She commanded storms, covered the kingdom with thorns… and she could use magic on a massive scale! She could even turn herself into a giant dragon!” Ace explained chipperly, oblivious to Y/N’s puzzled expression.

“Ooh. A dragon! What all monsters yearn to be!” Grim said excitedly.

“Pretty cool, huh? Not like some piddling weasel…” Ace trailed off.

Things were getting so much weirder for Y/N. Why were so many things clashing in this world compared to her own?
